- 1:40a brand new master topic just the other
- 1:41day and we are into the show right
- 1:45now.
- 1:45So this is Inspirations for Your Life, ladies
- 1:48and gentlemen.
- 1:50Hello everyone once again and welcome back to
- 1:53Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:54This is the daily motivational show designed to
- 1:56help you grow with intention, okay?
- 2:02And I know that sounds like something that's
- 2:04hard to believe, but it's really the truth,
- 2:08guys, growing with intention, okay?
- 2:12That is important to understand, clarity, and of
- 2:16course, confidence.
- 2:17Who am I?
- 2:17Oh, I'm John C.
- 2:18Morley, serial entrepreneur.
- 2:21It is such a privilege and a pleasure
- 2:23to be with you here on the show.
- 2:25I am your host, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing
- 2:29specialist, video producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker,
- 2:32graduate student, and a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:36Today's episode is all about powerful because it
- 2:40speaks to something many people misunderstand.
- 2:43We live in a world that rewards noise,
- 2:46flash, and constant self-promotion.
- 2:48But the truth is that the world doesn't
- 2:50reward the loudest voices long-term, as we
- 2:53said.
- 2:53It rewards the quiet, strong voices.
- 2:56This episode is about the strategic advantage of
- 2:58being underrated, not ignored, not invisible, out of
- 3:02fear, but intentionally underestimated while you build something
- 3:06real.
- 3:08Being underrated gives you freedom when expectations are
- 3:11low, pressures drop, you're no longer performing for
- 3:14applause.
- 3:15You're focused on progress, and I think a
- 3:18lot of people don't understand that you start
- 3:23in the beginning.
- 3:24And when you start in the very beginning,
- 3:26you start without an audience.
- 3:27You start with anybody caring about your content
- 3:30or what you're doing.
- 3:31You basically start with this.
- 3:36And that's a very, very big problem for
- 3:39a lot of people to understand how that
- 3:42actually works.
- 3:43So I want to share this with you
- 3:44because this is a really important part of
- 3:46the show here.
- 3:49Quiet builders win all the time because they
- 3:53are not distracted by the validation.
- 3:55They're protected by privacy, and they're driven, ladies
- 3:58and gentlemen, by discipline.
- 4:00Yeah, discipline.
- 4:02Discipline sounds like something that is so easy,
- 4:05and it is as long as you have
- 4:07the motivation to stick with it.
- 4:12That's a very, very important thing to understand.
- 4:15And if you understand that, then maybe you'll
- 4:17realize what's going on or why something is
- 4:21going on.
- 4:21I think that's a very important thing to
- 4:26understand what's going on.
- 4:30And so sometimes people don't quite get what
- 4:36it is.
- 4:36And the reason I'm saying that is because
- 4:39people just don't understand.
- 4:43They don't understand the value of that.
- 4:45And knowing that discipline is the power tool
- 4:49to get you to become a better version
- 4:52of yourself.
- 4:53Now, I'm not going to tell you it's
- 4:54easy because it's not.
- 4:56All right.
- 4:57It's about you making choices in your life.
- 4:59And these choices help us to become a
- 5:03better version of ourself every single day of
- 5:07our life.
- 5:08Not just today, not just tomorrow, but every
- 5:11single day of your life.
- 5:12I think that's really the key.
- 5:14Our next point, guys, is all about invisible
- 5:16work that compounds.
- 5:19When no one is watching, you sharpen skills
- 5:22without interference.
- 5:24Silence becomes a tool.
- 5:25Attention drains focus, but quiet sharpens it.
- 5:29The underrated stay hungry because nothing has been
- 5:31handed to them.
- 5:33Every win is earned.
- 5:34And I think when a win is earned,
- 5:37it means more to us than just where
- 5:43we're coming from.
- 5:47Like sometimes people say to me, oh, John,
- 5:50that was hard.
- 5:51When something's hard, you appreciate it more.
- 5:56And I think that makes a very big
- 5:59difference to what's happening or why something is
- 6:05happening.
- 6:06All right.
- 6:08That's very important to realize.
- 6:12Our next point is all about hidden effort
- 6:14that builds an edge.
- 6:16Less hype means fewer interruptions.
- 6:18Quiet growth avoids sabotage.
- 6:21When you're not in the spotlight, you're free
- 6:23to make mistakes, refine systems, and master fundamentals.
- 6:27Low spotlight accelerates mastery, anonymity, and it protects
- 6:32momentum.
- 6:33You're ignored, but improving invisible season strength and
- 6:39discipline.
- 6:40Quiet wins often surprise systems that underestimated you.
- 6:44So when you are, let's say for lack
- 6:47of a better term, somebody who's not known,
- 6:50right?
- 6:50You're in the beginning, but you're not known
- 6:52yet.
- 6:53And because you're not known, nobody really has
- 6:57their eyes on you, okay?
- 6:59Nobody has their eyes on you.
- 7:01And that's okay that they don't have their
- 7:02eyes on you.
- 7:04And actually in some ways, it allows us
- 7:06to breathe a little bit, okay?
- 7:09It allows us to breathe a little more.
- 7:11And so that's important.
- 7:18That's really important.
- 7:23That's important.
- 7:30And I think if you can understand that,
- 7:32then this will make more sense for you,
- 7:36okay?
- 7:38Underrated people build resilience.
- 7:41Hidden reps matter.
- 7:43Less validation forces internal motivation.
- 7:46Silence fuels growth.
- 7:49Quiet effort compounds over time.
- 7:54It compounds over time.
- 8:00Does that make sense?
- 8:05Does that make sense, everybody?
- 8:12I hope it makes sense.
- 8:14But when we hear something or see something
- 8:15for the first time, it doesn't always make
- 8:17direct sense.
- 8:19Low noise creates high skill.
- 8:22Hidden work lasts longer than public hype.
- 8:25Quiet execution beats talk.
- 8:28The underrated don't need permission.
- 8:30They dominate later.
- 8:33And that means something very, very interesting.
- 8:37The reason they dominate later is because now
- 8:40they understand what it's about.
- 8:43They understand the why.
- 8:45They understand the how.
- 8:48And when they understand, it's like, oh, this
- 8:50makes a lot of sense now.
- 8:53This is why I'm doing this.
- 8:54Does that make sense?
- 8:55Okay.
- 8:57When we see something the first time, it's
- 9:00like we don't necessarily get it, all right?
- 9:03So we see it again, and then we
- 9:05see it again.
- 9:06And when we see it a couple times,
- 9:07we're like, oh, wait a minute.
- 9:08Now this actually makes sense to me because
- 9:13I'm learning, right?
- 9:15I'm learning.
- 9:16And I can apply this, and then I
- 9:18can definitely become a better version of myself.
- 9:22Silence sharpens patience.
- 9:24Invisible advantage is real.
- 9:26Power.
- 9:27Quiet builders always last.
- 9:33People that are quiet oftentimes carry the big
- 9:36stick.
- 9:36And the reason I say that is that
- 9:38when somebody is quiet, you don't think they're
- 9:40going to get anywhere, but really they do
- 9:42get somewhere.
- 9:47You do get somewhere.
- 9:48I think that's a very, very important thing
- 9:52to understand.
- 9:57It's about that.
- 9:59Because when it's about that, you change.
- 10:07And that change can impact not just today,
- 10:12tomorrow, but many years from today.
- 10:16All because we now have a different perspective
- 10:19of who we are and where we're going.
- 10:23I think that's a very important one.
- 10:24If, ladies and gentlemen, you've ever felt overlooked,
- 10:27well, this is what we're talking about today.
- 10:30It's for you.
- 10:30Because being unseen doesn't mean being unimportant.
- 10:34So many times I hear, oh, John, you
- 10:36know what?
- 10:36I didn't get noticed.
- 10:37I didn't get recognized.
- 10:38I didn't get chosen.
- 10:40Just because you weren't chosen doesn't mean you're
- 10:45not important.
- 10:46It means you're building without interference.
- 10:50So when you build without interference, it means
- 10:52something.
- 10:52It means that you have the possibility to
- 10:58grow.
- 11:00You have that possibility to grow.
- 11:03And when we have that possibility to grow,
- 11:04it's like, oh, wow, wait a minute.
- 11:06Now I finally get it.
- 11:08I finally get what it's about and why
- 11:12things are happening a certain way.
- 11:14I think that's a very important thing for
- 11:18many people to understand.
- 11:20Is that we have to grow in a
- 11:24way that's going to make a difference for
- 11:26our lives and the people around us.
- 11:30Now if you're saying to me, John, like,
- 11:32I've tried growing, but whatever I do doesn't
- 11:34seem to go anywhere.
- 11:35Now that doesn't mean you've done anything wrong.
- 11:38It might be the environment that you're currently
- 11:40in.
- 11:40It might be the situation that is affecting
- 11:43you to act in a way that is
- 11:46going to deter you from your actual goal.
- 11:53From your actual goal.
- 11:57That's very important to understand.
- 12:03When we get deterred from a goal, it's
- 12:05like, oh, wait a minute.
- 12:06What am I supposed to do?
- 12:07Why am I even doing this?
- 12:11And I'm doing this because I want to
- 12:16change something.
- 12:22I want to change the way my life
- 12:25is.
- 12:25I want to change the way I'm living
- 12:26my life, what I'm doing with my life.
- 12:37If we know that one thing, then we
- 12:41can change it.
- 12:41Remember I said to you, when you can
- 12:44measure something, you can change it.
- 12:54And this might not be something that you
- 12:58understand right away.
- 13:02And I say that to you because maybe
- 13:04you're not quite understanding it.
- 13:11And what you're not understanding is that there's
- 13:15a perception difference.
- 13:17A perception difference that can change who you
- 13:20are and how you act.
- 13:23And how you react.
- 13:25Remember I said before that we can be
- 13:27passive.
- 13:30We can be basically passive in one way
- 13:34that we don't do anything.
- 13:36Or active.
- 13:37Now it's a little different when we think
- 13:38about actions.
- 13:39We think about proactive and reactive.
- 13:41Similar but not exactly the same.
- 13:43So proactive means I do what I need
- 13:45to do.
- 13:45Like we talked about the fire and protecting
- 13:47ourselves.
- 13:48And reactive means, oh wait, I didn't do
- 13:50something.
- 13:51I better do it.
- 13:51It's like, I have to do it now.
- 13:53Like maybe you had to print something.
- 13:55And maybe suddenly you had to print all
- 13:59this paper.
- 13:59And suddenly you ran out of ink.
- 14:03Because you were not proactive.
- 14:05Now you've got to be reactive.
- 14:06Run to the store before they close.
- 14:08Get the ink.
- 14:08Get it printed.
- 14:09And then finish compiling the book or whatever
- 14:13you're doing.
- 14:17That gets very complicated.
- 14:21Now what's the big deal about a piece
- 14:23of paper?
- 14:24Nothing.
- 14:25Nothing really actually.
- 14:26When we think about a piece of paper,
- 14:28we're thinking about the fact that it's something
- 14:31that we don't quite understand.
- 14:34And the reason I say we don't understand
- 14:36it is because we are just kind of,
- 14:38we're kind of like changing what we're doing.
- 14:42And when we are reactive about something, it's
- 14:45like we suddenly don't understand that this one
- 14:51change we made in our life can actually
- 14:54affect us.
- 14:56Affect us.
- 14:59And it doesn't always become obvious at day
- 15:03one.
- 15:04Nope.
- 15:05Doesn't come obvious at day one.
- 15:09When we see that we got to make
- 15:10one little change, we're like, oh gee, if
- 15:12we have to be reactive for one thing,
- 15:13it's no big deal.
- 15:13But what if you had to be reactive
- 15:15for many things in your life?
- 15:17I mean, I'm just asking you this dumb
- 15:18question.
- 15:19What if you had to be reactive for
- 15:21many, many, many things in your life?
- 15:27Depending on how many there are, that could
- 15:29really, really frustrate you.
- 15:35Okay?
- 15:37And you might have not even planned for
- 15:40that whole concept.
- 15:40But suddenly, it hits you.
- 15:52It hits you.
- 15:55Because you now know that this is something
- 15:58you have to do or something you have
- 15:59to change.
- 16:03Not because you wanted to do it, but
- 16:06suddenly because this happened in a way that
- 16:09maybe made no sense.
- 16:13Okay?
- 16:13No sense at all.
- 16:20And this sense could affect how you move
- 16:24forward in your life.
- 16:28Right?
- 16:30How you move forward in your life.
- 16:38Hmm.
- 16:42Moving forward is something that a lot of
- 16:46people think is an easy thing.
- 16:51Okay?
- 16:52But what we find out is that it's
- 16:54not an easy thing.
- 16:57Just because you know how to move forward
- 16:59doesn't mean you're moving forward in the right
- 17:01direction.
- 17:01I'm going to say something I've said before.
- 17:03Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
- 17:07Just because you can does not mean that
- 17:10you should.
- 17:16Think about that, guys.
- 17:18Just because you can does not mean you
- 17:21should.
- 17:23And maybe you're saying to me, John, this
- 17:25is a little bit crazy.
- 17:26I don't understand where something is going or
- 17:27why something is trending a certain way.
- 17:30It's not because maybe you wanted to go
- 17:34that way, but because of something that changed
- 17:38in your environment.
- 17:39Okay?
- 17:41Something that changed in your environment.
- 17:45And what changed in your environment is something
- 17:49that can make a difference.
- 17:56And that difference means it could affect your
- 18:02path.
- 18:10And the path might necessarily take you to
- 18:13where you want to be.
- 18:16Because you might need to alter the course
- 18:19in your direction.
- 18:31It could alter your direction.
- 18:33And if it alters the course in your
- 18:34direction, it might affect where you're going to
- 18:42go.
- 18:43You might say, John, what is that going
- 18:45to do?
- 18:45One little thing is going to.
- 18:46That one little thing could change the lens,
- 18:51which is your perspective, guys.
- 18:56If you see something black and white instead
- 18:58of color, that might demotivate you.
- 19:01It might.
- 19:03But if you were able to know that
- 19:08you were off a path, and that path
- 19:11instead of leading you down the yellow brick
- 19:14road was suddenly leading you to a dead
- 19:18end.
- 19:20Or a circle.
- 19:23We just keep looping.
- 19:26Is that a dead end?
- 19:28Well, it goes in a circle, so it's
- 19:30not a dead end, but it's similar to
- 19:33a dead end.
- 19:33And a dead end means it doesn't come
- 19:35back again.
- 19:37A circle would, or a loop would keep
- 19:40you coming back.
- 19:44We think about possibilities.
- 19:45And we think about things like stuff that
- 19:48might not be unimportant to us because we
- 19:50don't think there's a purpose today.
- 19:52There may be a purpose tomorrow.
- 19:57There may be a purpose tomorrow.
- 20:05If there's a purpose tomorrow, then how do
- 20:09we embrace that?
- 20:10How do we suddenly say, you know what?
- 20:11I'm in.
- 20:15But if we don't know what tomorrow is,
- 20:16we don't know what that purpose could be,
- 20:18how do we move forward?
- 20:20How do we digest?
- 20:22How do we process?
- 20:26We get frustrated.
- 20:28We get immobilized.
- 20:33And our ambition sort of wanes.
- 20:41And we have somewhere we want to go
- 20:42and something we need to do, but it
- 20:44becomes less important.
- 20:47Why is that happening?
- 20:49Because your why is not loud enough.
- 20:52Let me say that again.
- 20:53It's happening because your why is not loud
- 20:56enough.
- 20:58That's the real reason, guys.
- 21:03That's the reason it's doing that.
- 21:05Because your why is not loud enough.
- 21:08If your why was loud enough, there would
- 21:11be no issue.
- 21:15There would be no issue.
- 21:19A why is not something you just conjure
- 21:22up because, oh, gee, I think I'll just
- 21:23do this because it sounds interesting.
- 21:25No.
- 21:33A why is your core mission.
- 21:39All right?
- 21:41And if we don't realize what a why
- 21:44can do for us, then we might be
- 21:49lost.
- 21:52We might just be lost.
- 21:54And that thing that makes us lost
- 22:03can get us to slowly change our daily
- 22:12habits.
- 22:13When the daily habits change, now it's like,
- 22:17oh, my gosh, what am I supposed to
- 22:19do?
- 22:20And it doesn't happen overnight.
- 22:22Just like success doesn't happen overnight, right?
- 22:23You get into these habits, and these habits
- 22:26cause us to act differently in our life.
- 22:30Not because we have to.
- 22:31Not because we want to.
- 22:33But because of the environment.
- 22:36Because of us changing.
- 22:39And that change says, wait a minute.
- 22:42I don't know if I can do this.
- 22:45Why do we get demotivated?
- 22:49Well, maybe we don't have the knowledge to
- 22:51go further.
- 22:51So when that happens, don't get discouraged.
- 22:55Learn what you're missing.
- 22:56Learn that piece of missing knowledge.
- 22:58And then you know what happens?
- 22:59Everything else is downhill.
- 23:01Everything else is easier from there.
- 23:04But most people are like, oh, wait a
- 23:05minute.
- 23:05We got to go up a hill.
- 23:06Okay.
- 23:07It's time to turn around and go home.
- 23:09I'm in a play recently.
- 23:11And in the play, there's Lewis and Clark.
- 23:14And William is in the play with me.
- 23:19And he's saying, you know, in one part
- 23:22of the play, he says, you know, I
- 23:28said to him, you know, where do we
- 23:29want to go now?
- 23:30And he says, you know what?
- 23:33Let's go home.
- 23:35I'm like, go home?
- 23:37Yeah, my mother just texted me.
- 23:39And I'm tired.
- 23:40I want to go home.
- 23:42And I'm like, William.
- 23:47Like, go home.
- 23:50I mean, don't you know that we've been
- 23:53entrusted with a task given to us by
- 23:56the president?
- 23:57Don't you want to know what awaits us
- 23:59yonder?
- 24:02Then later on, Seca Joea comes on.
- 24:05And she mentions that there's beasts.
- 24:08And he goes, beasts?
- 24:09Oh, I think my mother just texted me
- 24:10again.
- 24:11I got to go home.
- 24:13And I'm like, William, don't lose heart.
- 24:18I know you're hungry.
- 24:23But we want to continue through the frontier
- 24:26with haste and see what we may find.
- 24:29He goes, food courts, hidden treasure.
- 24:35And lots of, as I say, scientific discoveries.
- 24:42So if our forefathers gave up, we never
- 24:46would have had the Constitution.
- 24:48They were very dedicated men that were working
- 24:52on that Constitution.
- 24:53But again, they did not give up.
- 24:55That is the key that I want to
- 24:57share with you.
- 24:59And that might not be an easy key
- 25:01to understand.
- 25:02But it's an important key to understand.
- 25:04Okay?
- 25:05It's not an easy key.
- 25:07But it is an important key to understand.
- 25:14And that key could say to us, hey,
- 25:15John, what are we trying to understand?
- 25:20What are we trying to figure out?
- 25:25And the case here with Lewis and Clark
- 25:27and Seca Joea, we're trying to find our
- 25:29way.
- 25:31And suddenly there's a fork in the road.
- 25:36And take the fork.
- 25:41And they decide to follow Seca Joea and,
- 25:44you know, let her lead the way.
- 25:46But do we always have somebody like a
- 25:49Seca Joea or somebody that's going to help
- 25:51us lead the way?
- 25:52Or is it us?
- 25:54I think it's us.
- 25:56And when it's us, we need to be
- 25:59very vigilant and resilient because life isn't easy.
- 26:04Ladies and gentlemen, this has been, if you
