- 0:13SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Tony Rutras, and I'm thrilled to have you join me today.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: In this episode, we're tackling a topic that affects everyone on their journey to success, the impact of time management on our lives.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: We'll explore how organized weeks can feel like years of progress while unorganized years can slip by in what seems like a matter of days, leaving us overwhelmed and exhausted.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Let's get started.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Let's begin by exploring how we perceive time in our daily lives.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: When we're organized and intentional, a single week can feel productive and fulfilling.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: On the other hand, when life feels chaotic and disorganized, years can fly by without a sense of accomplishment.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know about you, but in my daily life, uh, I used to, I remember hearing years ago uh from family and and friends that man, where has the time gone and time flies by and and and all these little you know phrases?
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And it was true at the time.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Uh it felt like I was growing up very, very quickly.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Uh, and now, dude, today, uh, when I when I am scheduling out my week, when I'm busy throughout the week, productive throughout the week.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Uh there's events that I love going to on a weekly basis.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Uh and it feels like there's a year between each week, and I'm able to grow so much week to week, and uh it feels like I'm able to share these experiences with the people that I'm meeting not a year later, but a week later, and uh an organized week can feel like a year because each day is maximized for productivity and growth.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: When we have clear goals and a structured plan, every task completed adds to a sense of achievement, making time feel a stretch and full of meaning.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Conversely, when we lack organization, time slips away on notice.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into years without un uh without a substantial progress.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: This can lead to feelings of overwhelm and stress as we struggle to catch up with our ambitions and responsibilities.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Now, uh I don't know about you, but have you ever felt like days turning into weeks and weeks into years or weeks into months and and and years and time just slipping by?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Like, man, I am for me, I'm 20 years old, I was 10 years old two days ago, or I'm 15, I was 20 two days ago.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: And this can lead to feelings of overwhelm and stress because we're not being organized or intentional about how we're scheduling our days, our weeks, our months, and our years.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: And so now that we have uh established a difference in time perception, let's discuss some strategies to transform overwhelm into control through effective time management.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Uh, and here's what I do personally start each week by identifying your top priorities, break them down into actionable steps, and allocate specific time slot slots for each task.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: This clarity allows you to focus on what truly matters, minimizing distractions and procrastination.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Uh, establish a daily routine.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, establishing a daily routine can significantly enhance your productivity when your day is structured around consistent habits, you minimize decision fatigue and create an environment where progress becomes a natural outcome of your actions.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Feeling overwhelmed is a common experience when trying to juggle multiple responsibilities.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: And that's not to say you cannot juggle multiple responsibilities, that just means you have to uh do it in a more effective and efficient way.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: And so here are some tips to help manage and overcome that feeling.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: First is break it down.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: When tasks seem overwhelming, break them into smaller, manageable parts.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Focus on completing one step at a time to build momentum and set realistic goals.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Avoid setting overly ambitious goals that are unattainable.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Instead, focus on achievable milestones that keep you motivated and on track.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Third, delegate and seek support.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Don't hesitate to delegate tasks when possible and seek the support from your uh team or community.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Collaboration can lighten the load and offer fresh receptives.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't know about you, but I think pride can play a big role and has played a big role in my past with this.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Is I mean, I I'm I'm the leader, I want to take all the responsibility.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And it's not even because I want to take all the credit, it's just that I I don't want to give it a responsibility.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Responsibility makes me feel good, it makes me feel like I'm you know doing something, but I can do more and I can do what I am doing at a better level if I'm delegating the task that shouldn't be delegated.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Now, the fourth one is practice self-care, ensure you're taking care of your physical and mental health.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Regular breaks, exercise, and mindfulness practices can boost your resilience and help you stay focused.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Now let's move on to some questions from our listeners.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: How do you stay organized when you have multiple priorities?
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And that's a great question.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I personally balance business and ministry and uh being part of just a community, networking and personal development and working out, and you know, all these different things.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: And so I use a combination of digital tools and physical planners to keep track of my tasks and appointments.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I have a little journey journal where I'll write down everything I'm doing for that week, and every day I write down my tasks for the day, and then I schedule that into my schedule so that because I remember there were days where I would not do that.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And even if I had a good day, it was hard to tangibly look back on my day and say, Did I have a good day?
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know, because I don't know, uh I didn't have goals and and tasks that I wanted to complete today.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Uh I know I worked, I don't know if I worked on the right things, I don't know if I if I did enough or if I did, you know, even things that maybe I could have done tomorrow uh and and I overachieved today.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: I don't know because I'm not writing it down.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And so uh I think it's also uh important to um I'm sorry, uh I lost my train of thought.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Uh but each week, right?
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: So each week I review my priorities.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: So I I have a blank calendar for the following week, and I review my priorities.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: So I do it business, health, uh, spiritual, family, and uh finance are my five categories, right?
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: And so, okay, what do I need to do on business?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: What do I need to do with my health, family, uh, spiritual, and and finance?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Write down the task for the week, and then I'm gonna schedule those into my calendar.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, and so I adjust my schedule to ensure uh that I'm working on what matters most.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Flexibility is key, but having a clear framework keeps me grounded.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: What's the best way to regain control when you're feeling overwhelmed?
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: When I'm feeling overwhelmed, I take a step back and reevaluate my current commitments.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: I prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: I'm not afraid to reschedule or delegate when needed.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: It's also important to give yourself grace and remember that progress, not perfection, is the goal.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: With that said, thank you for joining me on the episode of the Reborn Podcast.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: I hope these insights inspire you to take control of your time and transform overwhelm into progress.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Remember, the key to success is not just hard work, but smart work, and effective time management is an essential part of that equation.
