- 0:00Speaker 1: I have the top signs your new boss is toxic.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Oh.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Top signs your new boss is toxic. These are red
- 0:09Speaker 1: flags to watch out for, right?
- 0:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:10Speaker 1: It says starting a new job is stressful, especially when
- 0:13Speaker 1: you're trying to figure out whether or not you like
- 0:15Speaker 1: your new boss or not. So I want you to
- 0:17Speaker 1: think about any bosses you guys had that were toxic,
- 0:20Speaker 1: that were red flags.
- 0:21Speaker 4: I got one.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You got one? What do you got?
- 0:23Speaker 4: When they take credit for your work.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Can you think of a boss that did that to you?
- 0:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Really?
- 0:28Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Do you want to explain or no?
- 0:30Speaker 3: It was when I was working at Topgolf, which is
- 0:33Speaker 3: why I quit after being there for like two and
- 0:35Speaker 3: a half weeks.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Service life was not for me. I didn't even know
- 0:37Speaker 4: you worked there. I don't think I knew that part
- 0:39Speaker 4: of your history.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I tried to black it out.
- 0:40Speaker 4: It was not fun.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Is it black it out or block it out? Both.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Here are the top signs your new boss is toxic.
- 0:49Speaker 1: If they choose favorites, and it's obvious that certain employees
- 0:52Speaker 1: get better treatment. That's one thing.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Yeah, that'd be terrible.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That happened here. Remember we had a boss? Oh, yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 1: People couldn't do anything wrong.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03Speaker 4: And we couldn't do anything right.
- 1:04Speaker 1: If your fellow employees act differently around your boss, especially
- 1:07Speaker 1: if it causes them stress or anxiety. Yeah. Mm-hmm. These
- 1:12Speaker 1: are the top signs your new boss is toxic. If
- 1:15Speaker 1: they constantly change priorities and don't care how it affects
- 1:17Speaker 1: the team. Yeah, we had one of those too. Same guy.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:23Speaker 1: If they only celebrate themselves, but not the team. Ooh,
- 1:26Speaker 1: that's bad. This is a big one. You know, this
- 1:28Speaker 1: happens to me currently. If they ignore your emails.
- 1:34Speaker 4: But how many emails are you sending, John Jack?
- 1:36Speaker 1: Not many. Mostly texts. Mostly texts. And then I got
- 1:39Speaker 1: to go, hey, since you texted, you can get back
- 1:41Speaker 1: to me. And they'll go, they'll look. They go, oh, yeah,
- 1:43Speaker 1: you did. If they want praise and give none. Uh,
- 1:50Speaker 1: this is the number one red flag. If your boss
- 1:53Speaker 1: is toxic, what do you think? You said take credit
- 1:55Speaker 1: for other, that's not on here, but that's a good one.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You got one, Kyle.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I would say something about like, uh, like always contacting
- 2:03Speaker 3: you outside of work hours.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Man, that's, uh, that's interesting. That's to me. I think
- 2:08Speaker 1: that's okay.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yes, because you're a toxic boss. Just a totally different
- 2:14Speaker 2: type of toxic.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Bingo. What about you, Rich? What's a toxic boss for you?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Before I give you the number one answer.
- 2:20Speaker 4: I would say they only put you down but never
- 2:23Speaker 4: give you praise.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I already did that one. They want praise. Oh. What
- 2:27Speaker 1: about that one boss that said, a little too much
- 2:29Speaker 1: Rich Barrett this morning?
- 2:29Speaker 4: Ooh, I've heard that a lot. What does that mean?
- 2:32Speaker 2: Like you're being too much like yourself?
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Isn't that a good thing?
- 2:35Speaker 1: He was talking too much.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I was the first day on a morning show that
- 2:38Speaker 2: I'm hosting. It's like, a little too much Rich Barrett today.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I'm like, well, I mean, do you want me to
- 2:44Speaker 2: do somebody else?
- 2:46Speaker 1: I had to create this whole segment just to get
- 2:47Speaker 1: that point across to him right now. No, the number
- 2:52Speaker 1: one reason, number one red flag that your boss might
- 2:54Speaker 1: be toxic is if they badmouth former employees. Oh, yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 2: But what if they were actually not very important?
- 3:01Speaker 1: I know. You know what? I always think about that
- 3:03Speaker 1: when you always hear about, oh, you went on a
- 3:05Speaker 1: date or you met a guy and the guy was
- 3:06Speaker 1: always trash-talking his ex, calling her psycho. I was like, well,
- 3:09Speaker 1: what if she is psycho?
- 3:09Speaker 2: I mean, because there are psycho people.
- 3:12Speaker 1: There are.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It's like if they double back and they say that
- 3:14Speaker 3: she's psycho multiple times.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Like if you say it once, okay, she's probably psycho.
- 3:18Speaker 1: But when you keep talking about your ex, that's.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Where the red flags come. Now, honestly, they were like
- 3:23Speaker 4: actually legitimately psycho.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Like if you say it like that when you're qualifying it,
- 3:27Speaker 2: does it matter? Are you still trash talking?
- 3:29Speaker 3: I think you can qualify it with like examples of
- 3:32Speaker 3: the psychoness, you know, like if you just say she's
- 3:35Speaker 3: psycho and then don't really say why, then I think
- 3:38Speaker 3: that'd be a red flag. But if you said she
- 3:39Speaker 3: was psycho and you're like, she burnt down my mom's
- 3:42Speaker 3: house after I forgot to call her back.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yeah. That's psycho.
- 3:45Speaker 1: That's good. That's good. That's very good. Right.
