Latest / Sri Aurobindo Studies / Occult Forces Surround Us and Can Act Upon Us
Transcript
- 0:01The human range of perception is bounded on both sides and thus
- 0:06forces that are active in ranges above or below our own field of
- 0:10perceptions are able to act without our ability to directly
- 0:15know what they are doing or interact with them consciously.
- 0:20To the extent that they wield influence on our lives, it is
- 0:24something that takes place for us basically unconsciously.
- 0:28Additionally, there are forces that act on the various planes,
- 0:33which encompass ranges outside our ability to perceive and
- 0:38ranges within our frame, but which are obstructed to us
- 0:41because of the wall of protection that the physical
- 0:44body and the vital energy field or aura provide for us.
- 0:50These forces thus do not act with their full power and result
- 0:54in the material world to the extent that their vibrational
- 0:58impact is partially blocked or watered down by the gross
- 1:03physical sheath. Some of the forces at work in
- 1:07these other planes or realms are what we would consider to be
- 1:10Maleficent to us, hostile or at least contrary to what we see as
- 1:15our own interests and needs, while others may be beneficent
- 1:21and help us grow and thrive and potentially provide some level
- 1:25of protection from those that are inimical to us.
- 1:30Some of the forces, particularly vital forces, feed on vital and
- 1:35emotional energy that we throw off, So their interest lies in
- 1:40provoking us to anger, rage, lust, passionate outbursts, et
- 1:45cetera, in order to harvest the energy we expend.
- 1:51Sri Aurobindo describes the action of these forces in
- 1:54Savitri. The following passages take up a
- 1:58description of some of them which are more forcefully
- 2:01opposed to us, and which need to be understood and fended off if
- 2:06we are to remain unharmed. On the inner path of Yogic
- 2:10development, Sri Aurobindo writes in Savitri A Legend and a
- 2:15Symbol. Book 6 Canto 2 Quote There is no
- 2:21visible foe, but the unseen is round U.S. forces intangible,
- 2:27besiege touches from alien realms.
- 2:31Thoughts, not our own, overtake us and compel the erring heart.
- 2:37Our lives are caught in an ambiguous web.
- 2:42End, Quote, and quote. A grisly company of maladies
- 2:48come licensed lodgers into man's bodily house, purveyors of
- 2:54death, and torturers of life in the malignant hollows of the
- 2:58world, in its subconscient cavern passages.
- 3:03Ambushed they lie, waiting their hour to leap, surrounding with
- 3:08danger the siege city of life admitted into the citadel of
- 3:12man's days. They mine, his forces and maim
