- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to The Daily Writer, where we help writers become authors of their own lives.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: People often ask me for book recommendations, and I do the same thing.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: I'm always wanting to know what books have impacted people.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Now, I read pretty widely.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: I read fiction, personal development, spirituality, history, graphic novels, and even children's books.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: But the category of books that I read most often is actually business.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Many writers don't think much about the business side of things, but if you sell products or services, or maybe you don't yet, but you want to, you have a business.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And if you want to make more money in your business, improving your business skills should be a huge priority for you.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And on this episode, I want to share with you seven books that have impacted me and a little bit about each one.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: First of all, is Lead the Field by Earl Nightingale.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: This is a short, simple book on standing out in your industry, written by one of the godfathers of personal development.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Number two, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And I love his key idea in the book that your thinking lies at the core of all of your success in life.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Number three, business networking by Honore Corter.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Now she's a personal friend of mine, and in fact, she is my business coach.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And she has written the best book, in my opinion, on building business relationships.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: In fact, I use her 12 by 12 networking system every day.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Number four is 365 Thank yous by John Crowlock.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: This is an inspiring teaching memoir of how sending handwritten notes changed one man's life.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And honestly, reading this book a few months ago really motivated me to lean even more into sending handwritten cards in the mail.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Number five, Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: I read part of this book many years ago, and I recently picked it up for another read-through because it just came out in the 35th anniversary edition.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It's absolutely life-changing.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Number six is The Go Giver by Bob Berg and John David Mann.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: This is a powerful, very fun, short parable about the power of generosity.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: It's one of my favorite books ever, and I know that you'll love it as well.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Then finally, number seven is Do the Work by Stephen Pressfield.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: This is a gentle reminder that showing up and doing the work every single day is the best path to success.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Well, the bottom line here is that all great writers are also voracious readers, and these books are a great place to start if you want to grow your writing based business.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I would also love to know what are your favorite business books.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Shoot me an email at Kent at KentSanders.net and I would love to hear what you have to say.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Well, as always, thanks so much for listening.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Keep writing, keep showing up, and I'll see you tomorrow.
