- 0:59Speaker 1: a day where the Eagles have got some things going. Actually,
- 1:03Speaker 1: it happened yesterday, right when we got off the air.
- 1:05Speaker 1: The Eagles made a couple of moves and unless something
- 1:07Speaker 1: has happened in the last couple of moments since Jeff
- 1:10Speaker 1: has popped on to the screen. Jeff Wolan, who I
- 1:15Speaker 1: don't know how how he convinced him to take a
- 1:17Speaker 1: one year deal, but this is a pretty impactful move
- 1:20Speaker 1: for Howie Roseman, is it not?
- 1:23Speaker 2: It's an impactful move.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I mean, you know better than this might come on
- 1:30Speaker 3: how he didn't convince him to take a one year
- 1:32Speaker 3: deal over some offer elsewhere for more money and more years,
- 1:36Speaker 3: as Adam and I said on cap on Inside the Birds.
- 1:39Speaker 3: And you know this, the NFL tells you how it
- 1:42Speaker 3: feels about a player by that player's contract and especially
- 1:46Speaker 3: when free agency comes along. He signed a one year
- 1:49Speaker 3: deal up to fifteen million, So it's not fully fifteen million.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I think it's twelve. What did a Dori get one
- 1:54Speaker 3: year for eight I think so it's a little bit
- 1:56Speaker 3: more than a Dori Jackson. He's a talented kid who
- 1:59Speaker 3: had a really good first year, but he's got knocks
- 2:03Speaker 3: against him. There's immaturity knocks, there's mental lapses. He was
- 2:06Speaker 3: benched in the game this year. He's also very handsy.
- 2:09Speaker 3: He led the Seahawks in penalties. So I know you've
- 2:13Speaker 3: talked about it. I've heard others point out this stat
- 2:16Speaker 3: that you know, he's his.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Numbers are really good when targeted.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Okay, but if they were really, if that stat really
- 2:24Speaker 3: told the story of who requel it.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Is, he wouldn't be signing a one year deal in
- 2:27Speaker 2: free agency.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I know that.
- 2:29Speaker 2: By the way, that sounded negative. I'm sorry. I was
- 2:32Speaker 2: just sort of going off of the convincing thing.
- 2:34Speaker 3: He obviously, to me, is a high upside upgrade over
- 2:38Speaker 3: ADOI Jackson. So long as he fits this system well
- 2:42Speaker 3: and can really get his head on straight, there's potential there.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Well, that's what I was gonna ask. What kind of
- 2:47Speaker 1: fit is this? This is a guy who's pretty good
- 2:49Speaker 1: in man coverage across from Quinnon Mitchell. Now it's gonna
- 2:54Speaker 1: be Mitchell, Cooper, Degene and you would think Wooland. And
- 2:56Speaker 1: his name has come up in trade talks the last
- 2:58Speaker 1: couple of years and it was like, hey, hey, should
- 3:00Speaker 1: you kick the tires there? He's a big I said.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You know, going back to the early Eagles when Dallas
- 3:06Speaker 1: had Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper and you drafted Bobby Taylor.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You know, they were trying to find guys to go
- 3:11Speaker 1: up there. He would fit that bill six four two fifteen,
- 3:14Speaker 1: big physical corner. Does he fit in your mind Vic
- 3:17Speaker 1: Fangio's system.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I mean Vic actually played more man defense last year
- 3:23Speaker 3: than he had the year before. And I obviously did
- 3:27Speaker 3: that because it's a year later of Quinnon, Mitchell and
- 3:30Speaker 3: Cooper de jeen right, and he just felt more comfortable,
- 3:33Speaker 3: especially on third down. In the NFL, you want to
- 3:34Speaker 3: be able to play man defenses. You're gonna either blitz
- 3:37Speaker 3: or you're going to, in Vic's case, either play at
- 3:41Speaker 3: tilted front or have a sim pressure.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You're gonna try to rattle the quarterback on third down.
- 3:46Speaker 3: And you would love to be able to play man
- 3:48Speaker 3: defense to get those receivers, you know, kind of bumped
- 3:50Speaker 3: off their outs while the quarterbacks under a little bit
- 3:53Speaker 3: of the rest. That's the key to playing defense. That's
- 3:55Speaker 3: why the Seahawks were so good at it. They did
- 3:57Speaker 3: not blitz at very much at all. Excuse me. So
- 4:01Speaker 3: there is a clear fit. With those long arms that
- 4:04Speaker 3: he has, he can be sticky. I did speak to someone.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I spoke to someone today who did a personnel person
- 4:11Speaker 3: in the NFL who did watch his tape for his team,
- 4:14Speaker 3: and he told me that he feels it's an upgrade.
- 4:17Speaker 3: He thinks it's a good system fit, good man press corner.
- 4:21Speaker 3: But along with those other things that I said he does,
- 4:23Speaker 3: he gave up too many deep balls for a guy
- 4:25Speaker 3: who has great speed and really long arms.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So that's one thing you'd have to look out for.
- 4:30Speaker 1: All right, So intrigued by how he fits in here.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It's a one year deal for Rick Wollan And of
- 4:36Speaker 1: course one problem with him, he's got a lot of penalties.
- 4:39Speaker 1: He's been a guy who gets a lot of these
- 4:41Speaker 1: fifteen yarders. That's something that you're gonna have to aokount for.
- 4:44Speaker 1: He had a huge penalty in that NFC Championship game
- 4:47Speaker 1: against the Rams. He was the one that was whistled
- 4:49Speaker 1: for that, and I thought it was a weak taunting penalty.
- 4:52Speaker 1: But he's got a couple of those. He has been
- 4:54Speaker 1: flagged for stuff like this in the past. So he's
- 4:56Speaker 1: your new Derek Barnett.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I love that you mentioned that, okay,
- 5:01Speaker 3: because I was trying to think of a comp and
- 5:03Speaker 3: you just gave it to me. Because as soon as
- 5:05Speaker 3: the Eagles made the signing, I kind of saw this
- 5:08Speaker 3: like reaction on social media, like this is another great
- 5:10Speaker 3: how we steal. And it's so funny because if if
- 5:14Speaker 3: Riek Willan's exact career was with the Eagles right where,
- 5:17Speaker 3: it starts off with a good rookie year like Derek Barnett,
- 5:21Speaker 3: but by the end of the year, you're talking about
- 5:23Speaker 3: a guy who's had too many laps.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Is getting bench making mental mistakes in a big game.
- 5:28Speaker 3: You Eagles fan, if he were an Eagle right now,
- 5:30Speaker 3: Eagles fans would want him to get out, right, Like,
- 5:34Speaker 3: that's the funny thing. It's just like Eagles fans want
- 5:36Speaker 3: it had enough of Derek Barnett by the end of
- 5:38Speaker 3: his career. I remember they were mad when he got
- 5:40Speaker 3: resigned for a one year deal to the Eagle, right.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So I think it's always I.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Find this fascinating is that sometimes fans and public get
- 5:49Speaker 3: like excited by the other teams player who's clearly not
- 5:53Speaker 3: impressing that team because they think it's going to change here.
- 5:56Speaker 3: But in reverse, it doesn't work that way. It's always
- 5:59Speaker 3: that that's the guy you want to get out. And
- 6:02Speaker 3: I think it's fair to say, like if Seattle's coaching staff.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I know the Eagles are a great coaching staff, but
- 6:07Speaker 3: if Seattle's coaching staff was frustrated with him, to me,
- 6:11Speaker 3: signals that there's probably gonna be some frustrations with him here.
- 6:14Speaker 3: But I will say this, he's the number two corner.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Here.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Seattle has Devin Witherspoon. He's a really, really good player.
- 6:21Speaker 3: But here I would say, you're you're not under the
- 6:26Speaker 3: microscope because you've got Quinnon, Mitchell and Cooper dejeen, right,
- 6:29Speaker 3: and we'll see mccouba. So I don't think the eyes
- 6:32Speaker 3: will be on him to be a super So he
- 6:34Speaker 3: just has to be.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Better for Jackson, and I think a lot of people
- 6:37Speaker 2: anticipate that.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Why because everybody remembers a Dory on opening night and
- 6:43Speaker 1: then doesn't remember any other game of the season. He
- 6:45Speaker 1: actually kind of played well as the season went on,
- 6:47Speaker 1: but it's opening night. He did not play well, and
- 6:50Speaker 1: that's all we remember. So he's stunk last year, right.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Yeah, well sort of right.
- 6:54Speaker 3: It didn't help that the Eagles were basically trying to
- 6:56Speaker 3: replace him at every single juncture of the season, including
- 7:01Speaker 3: Jairo Alexander, who couldn't even get on the field, right.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I mean the Eagles.
- 7:05Speaker 3: In fairness to the fan, the Eagles were also trying
- 7:08Speaker 3: to say, can we please try to get somebody better
- 7:10Speaker 3: than the Dorry Jackson. But I think in fairness to
- 7:13Speaker 3: a dorri he did play better as the season went along.
- 7:16Speaker 3: So again, if Riek Wolland could. But I'll here's the
- 7:21Speaker 3: thing about a Dory, very mature, smart guy understands his assignments,
- 7:29Speaker 3: like his issues at this point where his age and
- 7:31Speaker 3: his talent level. And you know we saw that at
- 7:34Speaker 3: times getting burned and everything like that. But you didn't
- 7:36Speaker 3: have to worry about lapses per se or immaturity or
- 7:41Speaker 3: things like that.
- 7:42Speaker 1: All right, Jeff Boscher football at four. Reek Wolan is
- 7:45Speaker 1: now here. He gets a one year deal. It's up
- 7:49Speaker 1: to fifteen million dollars. We'll see how he fits in
- 7:51Speaker 1: with Vick Fangio. So the other moves I thought were
- 7:56Speaker 1: interesting last night. I want to get your take on these.
- 7:59Speaker 1: They I'm Johnny munt a blocking tight end. He knows
- 8:04Speaker 1: Sean Mannion. They then follow that up by bringing back
- 8:07Speaker 1: Grant Calcuttara. I thought this is the interesting part. Do
- 8:11Speaker 1: you think that they like cal Kutara enough as a
- 8:15Speaker 1: pass catcher, not as a blocker. Obviously he struggled in
- 8:20Speaker 1: that role. But if hey, you're the pass catcher, the
- 8:22Speaker 1: other guy, we now got a run blocker. We are
- 8:26Speaker 1: okay with cal Kuttara, maybe drafting a guy developing him.
- 8:30Speaker 1: But cal Kuttara, You'll be the main pass catcher for
- 8:33Speaker 1: a heck of a lot less than Goddard.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Uh main pass catcher. From that he would basically.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Be the He would be your pass catching tight end
- 8:43Speaker 1: and Johnny Munt's the blocker. And then you draft a
- 8:46Speaker 1: guy and then maybe halfway through the season if he's
- 8:48Speaker 1: coming on, or even if he beats cal Katara out.
- 8:50Speaker 1: But in lou Will paying someone ten million dollars to
- 8:53Speaker 1: play tight.
- 8:54Speaker 3: End, right right, I think I'm in the middle with
- 8:56Speaker 3: what you're saying. I mean, I think the reality of
- 8:58Speaker 3: the situation is with Goddard problem not.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Coming back here.
- 9:01Speaker 3: They had nobody under contract other than cam Lot too.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Right, So to your point, you need a guy who
- 9:07Speaker 2: knows the system.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Amazingly, Johnny Munt was with the Vikings when Mannion was
- 9:11Speaker 3: a quarterback there. So there's a guy who comes in
- 9:15Speaker 3: and does take care of that blocking element that you need.
- 9:18Speaker 3: And then I think, what the Eagles are trying to
- 9:21Speaker 3: do Mike is make sure they have bodies at that position,
- 9:24Speaker 3: and also not spend anything that's going to cancel out
- 9:28Speaker 3: any comp picks that they're going to get, so you
- 9:30Speaker 3: never get dinged in the compic formula when you bring
- 9:33Speaker 3: back your own guys, even if they hit free agency,
- 9:36Speaker 3: which he did not technically, so.
- 9:40Speaker 2: There will no be He's a body. He gives them depth.
- 9:43Speaker 3: They really only have three tight ends under contract right now,
- 9:47Speaker 3: you know, or by tomorrow, which will be Mont, it'll
- 9:49Speaker 3: be Calcatara, and it'll be cam Latto, who obviously has
- 9:52Speaker 3: not proven much in this league, although I would like
- 9:54Speaker 3: to see him use more.
- 9:55Speaker 2: They do have E. J.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Jenkins and Jayan Bell, but those guys are are kind
- 9:58Speaker 3: of fringe players fighting make a team. So to me,
- 10:01Speaker 3: it was more of an opportunity at that low price
- 10:04Speaker 3: to bring in a guy, yes, who can be a
- 10:07Speaker 3: pass catching tight end, but they're gonna have to draft there.
- 10:10Speaker 3: They're absolutely gonna have to draft at that position, and I.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Still think they have to make modest moves there.
- 10:16Speaker 3: To your point, could he emerges, I would think if
- 10:19Speaker 3: he has to emerge as your top pass catcher, uh,
- 10:24Speaker 3: then it's not a great thing, to be honest with you,
- 10:26Speaker 3: and that's something that you draft high and get a
- 10:28Speaker 3: guy who can come play right away.
- 10:30Speaker 1: That's where like, hey, they've seen him for the last
- 10:32Speaker 1: four years. He's never really been given the opportunity. But
- 10:34Speaker 1: I got to imagine they've seen him in practice and think, hey,
- 10:36Speaker 1: this guy could catch the ball. He could probably get
- 10:39Speaker 1: some yards after the catch. If we don't ask him
- 10:41Speaker 1: to block, maybe we can have him for I don't
- 10:44Speaker 1: know what did he get paid, you know.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Well, it's a one year deal, so I'm gonna imagine
- 10:48Speaker 3: it's one of those you know, nine hundred K guarantees
- 10:52Speaker 3: exactly like that.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So instead of paying a guy ten million dollars, you're
- 10:55Speaker 1: paying this guy less than a million dollars. He catches
- 10:58Speaker 1: three to four passes, he gets forty to fifty yards,
- 11:02Speaker 1: the other guy blocks. I don't know, like how big
- 11:04Speaker 1: of a role the tight end has in Sean Mannion's offense.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Well, that's what That's where I'm wondering, you know, and
- 11:11Speaker 3: we have to see, is you know what a what
- 11:13Speaker 3: happens to aj Brown b How do they remake the
- 11:17Speaker 3: wide receiver position because they need bodies They need depth,
- 11:21Speaker 3: They need to get more from a slot receiver. They
- 11:24Speaker 3: just need more than just two guys hauling it all.
- 11:26Speaker 3: And the purpose of this offense is to be able
- 11:28Speaker 3: to get guys in space and you.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Know, make them productive.
- 11:31Speaker 3: So to your point, you know, that is an area
- 11:34Speaker 3: where I thought Grant Calcutta two years ago when he
- 11:36Speaker 3: had to fill in for a couple of games for
- 11:38Speaker 3: godd Ar, did a nice job. Now he's kind of
- 11:40Speaker 3: a catch the ball and turn around and run if
- 11:44Speaker 3: he can guy. I mean, he's not going to break
- 11:46Speaker 3: a lot of tackles. I mean he can run in space,
- 11:49Speaker 3: so he does fit the offense. But he's also you know,
- 11:52Speaker 3: he's had his concussions. Yeah, I still think he has
- 11:55Speaker 3: to make this team based on whatever moves left that
- 11:59Speaker 3: the Eagles are going to be making at that position.
- 12:01Speaker 3: But yeah, there could be some value at that price,
- 12:04Speaker 3: especially if he gets in there for a few snaps
- 12:06Speaker 3: and catches the ball right exactly.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It's like you can't pay everybody. We have a guy
- 12:09Speaker 1: we're familiar with, We've got a guy that can now block.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Maybe these two guys can hold it down. We draft
- 12:14Speaker 1: a guy, you know, in the second round. He gets
- 12:16Speaker 1: up to speed and boom. That's how he good. We'll
- 12:19Speaker 1: see red blanketship he obviously leaves. How do you foresee
- 12:24Speaker 1: now with what we know that safety position evolving moving
- 12:29Speaker 1: forward here?
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and there are a couple of safeties you know,
- 12:33Speaker 3: flown off the board lately. So I mean, you're looking
- 12:36Speaker 3: at the available safeties now, and you know, I just
- 12:40Speaker 3: put it up on Philly Voice. I did a little
- 12:41Speaker 3: like who are the best available at certain positions?
- 12:44Speaker 2: And safety is one of them.
- 12:47Speaker 3: There's still some interesting names, but they're going to be
- 12:50Speaker 3: Remember they're not trying to make the type of signing
- 12:55Speaker 3: right that's going to cancel out what they're probably going to.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I can't see not being a third round pick, the
- 13:01Speaker 3: number one overall compensatory pick next year in twenty twenty
- 13:07Speaker 3: seven for losing Joe and Phillips is such a big deal.
- 13:10Speaker 2: So you're looking at Kyle Dugar.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Andre Cisco is kind of interesting to me because he
- 13:15Speaker 3: was hurt last year with the Jets, but he's been
- 13:17Speaker 3: decent safety throughout his career with the Jags. He was
- 13:20Speaker 3: a real ball hal at Syracuse had like thirteen interceptions
- 13:23Speaker 3: in three years. There's your old reliables like Jordan Poyer
- 13:27Speaker 3: and Donovan Wilson. There's Gino Stone and Ashton Davis. Davis
- 13:31Speaker 3: was drafted by overdrafted by Joe Douglas with the Jets,
- 13:34Speaker 3: so there's familiarity there.
- 13:36Speaker 2: But that's what we're looking at, you know.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I mean, if you're not going to pay eight million
- 13:39Speaker 3: dollars roughly to keep Reid blanket ship, then you're not
- 13:45Speaker 3: gonna go out and sign you know, Andre Cisco for
- 13:49Speaker 3: ten million dollars.
- 13:49Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. They're looking for that.
- 13:52Speaker 3: By the way, I do believe that not only they
- 13:55Speaker 3: will get bodies here, but I do believe Michael Carter,
- 13:59Speaker 3: the second coming back on that revised contract, will get
- 14:03Speaker 3: a chance to compete for that job. He was a
- 14:06Speaker 3: safety in college. He's a very good nickel at one
- 14:09Speaker 3: time for the Jets until they changed their defense. He
- 14:11Speaker 3: came here and immediately got on the field as like
- 14:14Speaker 3: a third safety or a big nickel second interior slot guy.
- 14:19Speaker 3: So I think that there's a chance he can compete
- 14:21Speaker 3: for that job. And then there's always do they move
- 14:23Speaker 3: Cooper to.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Jen there, although I would put that lower on the
- 14:27Speaker 2: tote pool.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Okay, so let's get to the craziness that happened yesterday
- 14:32Speaker 1: in which Baltimore backs out of the deal for Max
- 14:35Speaker 1: Crosby yesterday. Then this morning they pivot and give twenty
- 14:41Speaker 1: seven million dollars a year to Trey Hendrickson. Number one,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Hendrickson now makes less than Phillips. I think that's interesting.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And then two the fallout of Crosby going back and
- 14:56Speaker 1: what that could mean for Philadelphia looking to replace Phillips.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I know, obviously, you know, my colleague
- 15:04Speaker 3: Jimmy Camski reported that they are.
- 15:06Speaker 2: They did took a swing there at Hendrickson.
- 15:09Speaker 3: I don't know, you know how big of a swing
- 15:11Speaker 3: it was, but they took a swing. Now I don't
- 15:14Speaker 3: There are recent reports that the Raiders are just gonna
- 15:16Speaker 3: wind up holding on to Max Crosby, which is gonna
- 15:20Speaker 3: be an awesome look back. I mean, with all the
- 15:21Speaker 3: moves they've made to getting to Kobe Dan, you get
- 15:23Speaker 3: Kway Walker, kept Eric Stokes. They're gonna draft Mendoza, right,
- 15:28Speaker 3: he got genty in year two, a better offensive line,
- 15:30Speaker 3: Colton Miller. Come watch the Raiders go win like double
- 15:33Speaker 3: digit games, you know, and then like Max Crobbins was
- 15:36Speaker 3: a big.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Reason for that that would be a very funny look back.
- 15:39Speaker 3: But the Eagles definitely need to do something here at
- 15:42Speaker 3: the edge of Mike, and I don't know what it is.
- 15:45Speaker 1: You just felt like there was some reports that they
- 15:47Speaker 1: would have been interested in Crosby had they lost Phillips. Well,
- 15:50Speaker 1: Crosby got traded. Does Howie now call and is he
- 15:54Speaker 1: you're not paying two first round picks for him? Now right?
- 15:58Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure he's yeah. I don't know he
- 16:00Speaker 3: was going to give up two first round picks in
- 16:01Speaker 3: the first place. So we'll see. Very it's to me,
- 16:06Speaker 3: it's a fascinating story.
- 16:07Speaker 2: But if the Raiders are gonna hold on to I
- 16:09Speaker 2: don't know if the I would imagine some of those
- 16:11Speaker 2: Raiders are gonna hold on to him.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Reports are to fend off all the people now calling
- 16:16Speaker 3: the Raiders trying to offer like a sixth and the
- 16:17Speaker 3: seventh for Max Crosby, Howie, So you know, so we'll
- 16:24Speaker 3: see what happens. You know, you just know this how
- 16:26Speaker 3: he's not going to go into the season this baron
- 16:29Speaker 3: at the edge position. He'll do something.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I agree, all right. Adam Schefter about half an hour
- 16:35Speaker 1: ago said quote, they would rather not move him even
- 16:38Speaker 1: though he would like to be moved, and they are
- 16:40Speaker 1: not going to move him until they get what they
- 16:42Speaker 1: feel is a fair price. That is the very latest
- 16:46Speaker 1: on A. J. Brown. Has anything changed in your mind
- 16:49Speaker 1: on AJ Brown and whether he will be here or moved.
- 16:53Speaker 3: No, I still think that if there's some team that
- 16:56Speaker 3: can work with the Eagles on what they're looking for.
- 17:00Speaker 3: And you know, I don't think the Patriots signing Romeo
- 17:03Speaker 3: Dobbs makes them like, you know, all right, we survived
- 17:06Speaker 3: the loss of Stefan Diggs, who had a really good
- 17:09Speaker 3: year for them last year.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I think they need more.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Especially you don't want to come back equal or just
- 17:14Speaker 3: the same as you were last year.
- 17:15Speaker 2: You want to get better.
- 17:17Speaker 3: So I would still keep them very much alive in
- 17:19Speaker 3: the sweep stakes until it's officially over all.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Right, that's obviously something. Everybody's keeping an eye on Jalen
- 17:26Speaker 1: Carter's name. You know, they were getting calls. It doesn't
- 17:29Speaker 1: mean they wanted to trade him. But do you think
- 17:31Speaker 1: they are closer to working on an extension for Jalen Carter?
- 17:35Speaker 2: Yeah, they should be.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I think they have to figure out what's going to
- 17:37Speaker 3: happen with the AJ Brown situation first, and you know,
- 17:40Speaker 3: I also think they've got to make sure that Jalen Carter,
- 17:44Speaker 3: you know, with his shoulder issues that he had last year.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I know he's been working somewhere in South Jersey, I believe,
- 17:51Speaker 3: really hard on getting those things rehabbed and getting them
- 17:54Speaker 3: right for the next season.
- 17:55Speaker 2: So that's going to be a big part of it too.
- 17:57Speaker 3: And you know, Adam and I talked about on the
- 18:00Speaker 3: on the pod a couple of days ago. Whenever you
- 18:02Speaker 3: see a guy that talented and he doesn't have the
- 18:05Speaker 3: extension yet and the Eagles are known for doing him quickly,
- 18:08Speaker 3: that always is going.
- 18:09Speaker 2: To invite people to call it likes, Hey, what's going on?
- 18:11Speaker 3: There?
- 18:11Speaker 2: Is this guy available?
- 18:13Speaker 3: And then reports come out, Jeff, it would be very
- 18:16Speaker 3: very it would be very surprising to me. Now I'm
- 18:18Speaker 3: not ruling it out, but it'll be surprising to me
- 18:20Speaker 3: if you got traded.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Jeff mosts with US. Jordan Davis, he did get introduced
- 18:26Speaker 1: today at a press conference about his new contract there.
- 18:30Speaker 1: So Jordan Davis, he said he didn't expect Jalen Carter
- 18:33Speaker 1: to show up. Carter was there, and we'll see what
- 18:35Speaker 1: ends up happening with Carter. As he was there to
- 18:38Speaker 1: kind of embrace his new teammate, who is now higher
- 18:41Speaker 1: paid than he is. That will be something to keep
- 18:44Speaker 1: an eye on as well. Sam hal By the way,
- 18:46Speaker 1: the backup quarterback or actually the third quarterback he signed
- 18:49Speaker 1: in Dallas. Also Matt Pryor, who was kind of a
- 18:53Speaker 1: disappointment here. He has signed in Arizona, so he's gone.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Brett toath. He was another guy who you know, we've
- 19:00Speaker 1: talked a lot about too. He actually was one of
- 19:02Speaker 1: the more productive backup linemen. They're gonna have some work
- 19:04Speaker 1: to do on reshaping this offensive line, at least the depth.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 3: That So him signing with the Niners, right, is a
- 19:10Speaker 3: validation of what we thought and said on inside the
- 19:14Speaker 3: Birds and that when you put him at left guard
- 19:17Speaker 3: and ask him to like run up the middle and
- 19:19Speaker 3: double team three techniques or even single block, you're not
- 19:22Speaker 3: using him, correct, That's not his strength. He is a
- 19:26Speaker 3: athletic guy who you want moving horizontally like this new
- 19:29Speaker 3: Eagles offense is going to do with the wider zone
- 19:32Speaker 3: or the outside zone. And so we thought he would
- 19:35Speaker 3: fit well because when he moved the center, if you
- 19:37Speaker 3: remember in that game that they won against the Giants,
- 19:40Speaker 3: they did run outside, they kicked him out a little
- 19:42Speaker 3: bit more so him have some pretty big blocks in
- 19:45Speaker 3: the second level.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Right, and so I thought he would be a key
- 19:48Speaker 2: guy in some.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Respects, a key depth guy for the Eagles to maybe
- 19:52Speaker 3: want to bring back on the cheap. But the fact
- 19:54Speaker 3: that the Niners signed him, I thought is pretty interesting
- 19:56Speaker 3: because that does go to show that that is the
- 19:59Speaker 3: kind of offen where his his strengths are going to
- 20:03Speaker 3: be better capitalized.
- 20:04Speaker 1: And one thing, Jeff, it's you know, twenty after four
- 20:07Speaker 1: if you're listening live, if you're listening in the Best
- 20:10Speaker 1: of the Sports Batch, it's probably twenty after six.
- 20:13Speaker 2: But time does the Worst of the Sports Batch come on? Well,
- 20:17Speaker 2: that's a.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Whole four hours, right. The guys who were not free
- 20:25Speaker 1: agents but teams are now releasing. You're getting a new
- 20:28Speaker 1: wave of free agents that are starting to come out there.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Javon Hargrave is one we've seen being released. So there
- 20:34Speaker 1: could be another group of players that emerge on the
- 20:37Speaker 1: free agent market here, you know, between now and by
- 20:40Speaker 1: the time you hear this in the Best of the
- 20:42Speaker 1: Sports Batch.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, got to keep your eyes on Bradley Chubb.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I don't know if he's been officially released by the Dolphins,
- 20:49Speaker 3: but they are going to and that that would be
- 20:51Speaker 3: a perfect signing for the Eagles because again, when you
- 20:55Speaker 3: when you sign a guy who gets released as opposed
- 20:57Speaker 3: to having their contract expire, then it doesn't against the
- 21:00Speaker 3: COMPIC For you could pay him three hundred million billion
- 21:02Speaker 3: dollars and it's not going to cancel out any of
- 21:05Speaker 3: your COMPIC formula. So and plus he played for VIC.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I mean, he's a big guy's been to the Pro
- 21:10Speaker 3: Ball twice. I mean he's he's ideal.
- 21:13Speaker 1: By the way, some of those names are starting to
- 21:15Speaker 1: come out. Josh Pascal, the defensive end from the Lions.
- 21:18Speaker 1: He has been released. Kyler Murray the quarterback, of course,
- 21:20Speaker 1: he has been released. Kirk Cousins, he has been released.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Jake Browning, the backup quarterback. He is going to Tampa Bay.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Also released here moments ago, Harrison Smith. So there's another
- 21:33Speaker 1: safety that hits the market. So you'll start to see
- 21:36Speaker 1: some names that will now enter the free agent mix
- 21:40Speaker 1: as well.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Football at four Harrison Smith.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Harrison Smith is so old he might be hosting the
- 21:44Speaker 3: Best of the Supports Bash next year.
- 21:46Speaker 1: He is very seven years old.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Yeah, great, career.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Yes, the the names that are going to be You know,
- 21:54Speaker 1: Javon Hargrave, we just mentioned him. He has been by
- 21:56Speaker 1: the way, Azi's Ojalari. He is heading to Atlanta with
- 22:01Speaker 1: the Falcons. So there's a former eagle that has got
- 22:04Speaker 1: a new home as well. Good stuff, all right, bo,
- 22:06Speaker 1: don't forget. Check out all his stuff over at Philly
- 22:09Speaker 1: Voice dot com. And the podcast with Adam and Jeff,
