- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi everyone. I am Leo from Luther. We are a
- 0:03Speaker 1: brilliant based band. We formed in twenty twenty four and
- 0:08Speaker 1: we are somewhat of a like I wouldn't say supergroup,
- 0:12Speaker 1: but that's the kind of concept. We are all people
- 0:15Speaker 1: that we're in different bands but in the same scene,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and we met each other, we liked each other, so
- 0:21Speaker 1: we started this project and I am the let's say,
- 0:24Speaker 1: like the leader or like the the one that put
- 0:27Speaker 1: the spark, let's say, to make it start.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Nobody's gonna spark it up that yeah, no, right, thanks
- 0:36Speaker 2: to joining us today. So O, we're here to talk
- 0:37Speaker 2: about the fact that later released a debut single, Next
- 0:41Speaker 2: Time Sandy Killer, a couple of weeks ago on June
- 0:43Speaker 2: the thirteenth, so and it has only been two weeks,
- 0:46Speaker 2: but it was the early resecond band for it.
- 0:48Speaker 1: It's been incredible, Like I have, I don't know what
- 0:52Speaker 1: to say, of course, like I've done music in the
- 0:54Speaker 1: in the past with different bands, like we also did
- 0:57Speaker 1: some good stuff, but this one had such a warm
- 1:01Speaker 1: welcome from the metalcore community, which is a community that
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm entering for the first time because before I was
- 1:08Speaker 1: doing progressive metal and they have been so kind and
- 1:11Speaker 1: like I have like thousands of like playlist saves, you know,
- 1:15Speaker 1: I can see on my Spotify and stuff like that,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and a lot of people reposted just like they found
- 1:21Speaker 1: the song and reposted it. So that's awesome. I've been
- 1:24Speaker 1: very very excited, very unexpected as well.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Ye know, So tell us me more about the song
- 1:29Speaker 2: from a musical point of view and what you're actually
- 1:31Speaker 2: going for it.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Okay, So this comes from basically me wishing to experiment
- 1:38Speaker 1: with something very like angry music, right, and I think
- 1:44Speaker 1: that angry music it's also like trap metal. I know
- 1:47Speaker 1: that maybe it's not the most common sub general metal.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I know this guy Buffalo Farm that I'm really into
- 1:58Speaker 1: his music recently. And then whilst I was kind of
- 2:02Speaker 1: looking into this scene, I found Riff Crimes and Riff
- 2:06Speaker 1: Crimes is a producer in LA and he is one
- 2:09Speaker 1: of the biggest name for trap metal. So I hit
- 2:12Speaker 1: him up and I was like, can you help us
- 2:14Speaker 1: out on this song? And he said yeah, So he
- 2:17Speaker 1: brought this thing into it. There is a little bit
- 2:20Speaker 1: of metacre, a little bit of gent a little bit
- 2:23Speaker 1: of trap metal, and that's how it was born.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Now that is advt song. From Li, So why
- 2:29Speaker 2: did you choose that particular song to introduce the world
- 2:32Speaker 2: to the band?
- 2:35Speaker 1: This is you're not gonna like this answer. So basically,
- 2:40Speaker 1: I of course, like in a band that you want
- 2:43Speaker 1: to be successful, like you need to have some sort
- 2:45Speaker 1: of strategy, right, So I was like, fuck the strategy,
- 2:53Speaker 1: We're just gonna do what we want. So there is
- 2:56Speaker 1: two songs that I have this type of sound identity
- 2:59Speaker 1: of us, and those are the songs that we released
- 3:02Speaker 1: with Next Time, Santa Killer and Oyster, which were released
- 3:06Speaker 1: together on thirteen or February of June. And now we're
- 3:12Speaker 1: working on a debut album that literally has nothing to
- 3:15Speaker 1: do with Madacre. So yeah, that was not the wisest choice,
- 3:20Speaker 1: but I felt like fuck it, you know, like we
- 3:23Speaker 1: like that song, now we like another one. We're gonna
- 3:26Speaker 1: do that that way?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, why not? Now You've got a couple more single
- 3:30Speaker 2: scheduled for a lazy in giving the people what they
- 3:32Speaker 2: want and the most famous rat in the sewers, so
- 3:34Speaker 2: I'll spore about each of them and roughly when they're
- 3:37Speaker 2: coming out.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I wish like that I could put out the most
- 3:44Speaker 1: giving the people what they want, like instantly. It's so
- 3:48Speaker 1: good like. I like that song so much. It's so fun.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think people are gonna like it if they see it.
- 3:53Speaker 1: So I wish I could do it now already. I
- 3:56Speaker 1: just need to keep it in between budget because like
- 3:59Speaker 1: one video like that costs us like something like two
- 4:03Speaker 1: K minimum, you know, because it's a Yeah, it's such
- 4:06Speaker 1: like the high quality of videography of course Christopher has.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So I want to put it out. But then if
- 4:15Speaker 1: I put it out when I debut the album, I'm
- 4:19Speaker 1: down two thousand years and I don't know how to
- 4:22Speaker 1: make Yeah, So it's gonna be a little bit of
- 4:25Speaker 1: a If I could do whatever I want, if I
- 4:29Speaker 1: had endless money, I would put it out and then
- 4:31Speaker 1: I would do more. But that's not really the case here,
- 4:34Speaker 1: So we'll see. We need to be a little bit patient,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I guess, and calculative.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Are your song titles, mate, Like You've got songs given
- 4:41Speaker 2: the people what they want? The most famous mate in
- 4:43Speaker 2: the sea next time sending killer Light. You put a
- 4:46Speaker 2: lot of thought into the song called. They're not just
- 4:48Speaker 2: throw away song titles, are they?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah? Exactly Like I I've always had an inclination to
- 4:54Speaker 1: inclination towards being a little bit like I guess poetic
- 4:59Speaker 1: or like to suggest something with titles with lyrics. I
- 5:03Speaker 1: think they came out pretty good. I think you're gonna
- 5:06Speaker 1: like like the song names in the debut album as well.
- 5:10Speaker 1: They're a little bit fun like fun. For me, it's
- 5:13Speaker 1: such like an important element. And I think everyone of
- 5:17Speaker 1: Luther is the same, Like we go party together, you know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: we play together. It's fun to have fun. It's a
- 5:23Speaker 1: big element in this band. Yeah, when you're.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Coming up with some titles, do you come up with
- 5:28Speaker 2: them in German and then translate the English?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Is that why they like?
- 5:32Speaker 2: Or do you come up with them in English?
- 5:34Speaker 1: Actually they are straight up born in English. But then
- 5:37Speaker 1: I need to double check because of course sometimes something
- 5:40Speaker 1: sounds good in my brain like how it would sound
- 5:43Speaker 1: in English, and then actually I'm like, look, either grammatically
- 5:48Speaker 1: or logically wrong, so I have to ask to fix
- 5:54Speaker 1: it up for me.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, all about the pleasure of listening to b that
- 5:59Speaker 2: I is up common songs and they both absolute bangers,
- 6:02Speaker 2: but they are they're not the same basically, So are
- 6:05Speaker 2: they Are they going to be a good representation of
- 6:07Speaker 2: what do you expect the debut album? Or is there
- 6:09Speaker 2: a lot more going on.
- 6:14Speaker 1: There is a lot more. Yeah, so this giving the
- 6:17Speaker 1: people what they want. It's like I asked the boys
- 6:22Speaker 1: to have a breakdown, like very how to say it,
- 6:27Speaker 1: like usually like that chorus breakdown, but then have a
- 6:32Speaker 1: new metal intro and then I have a hardcore chorus. Right.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So and this worked out so well, and I wish
- 6:40Speaker 1: that I could do more songs like this. So there
- 6:42Speaker 1: is another song that sounds similar in the debut album.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And again it comes because we wanted to have fun.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Those are all fun you know elements. We put it together.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It worked, that's it. Now I can tell you that
- 6:56Speaker 1: the debut album is going to have a lot of
- 6:58Speaker 1: Gray Heaven influences. System of a Down is a big one.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I don't know how it came to be. Of course
- 7:03Speaker 1: I love the band, but I didn't expect me to
- 7:06Speaker 1: kind of do that. What else? Yeah, these two So
- 7:10Speaker 1: that's gonna be exciting.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I said, Now you've got a rough chart and it's
- 7:14Speaker 2: gonna be out. Will be this year or will be
- 7:15Speaker 2: next year?
- 7:17Speaker 1: I think next year?
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, people could be patient. There was an interesting
- 7:23Speaker 2: light in press release and said that through their music,
- 7:26Speaker 2: Luther communicates the motions of isolation, betrayal, rageing, escapism, Milet's
- 7:30Speaker 2: it's quite a powerful quite can you elaborate on.
- 7:33Speaker 1: That for us? Yeah, of course. So I think the
- 7:37Speaker 1: members of Luther we all, of course, like a lot
- 7:42Speaker 1: of metal heads, like one under percent, I'm speaking for
- 7:44Speaker 1: all of us in here. They felt some somewhat alienated
- 7:50Speaker 1: at a certain point in their life and then they
- 7:52Speaker 1: found like some sort of companionship in metal music. So
- 7:58Speaker 1: there is a lot of that in my lyrics. There
- 8:00Speaker 1: is a lot of I don't know, like feelings of
- 8:05Speaker 1: solitude because that's also very powerful human experience and very
- 8:10Speaker 1: common in my life for some reason. And anger. I
- 8:14Speaker 1: have a lot of anger, So there is also the
- 8:17Speaker 1: anger part. I think it's mostly me, not the boys,
- 8:21Speaker 1: but yeah, that's it.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we saw a touch on this. But essentially your
- 8:27Speaker 2: music draws from hardcore of new metal, list, progressive medal
- 8:30Speaker 2: in there you got metal list. There's so much going on,
- 8:33Speaker 2: but how difficult is it to get the balance of
- 8:35Speaker 2: all of those right in the creative process when you're
- 8:37Speaker 2: writing the songs.
- 8:39Speaker 1: So we are super lucky because we have Enrico Tiberi,
- 8:47Speaker 1: which he mixes masters and does like I would say
- 8:51Speaker 1: fifty percent of songwriting with our input. Like, he's a
- 8:55Speaker 1: master musician. So we ask him like, hey, can we
- 8:58Speaker 1: do a song like this? How do you think it
- 9:00Speaker 1: should sound?
- 9:00Speaker 2: Like?
- 9:00Speaker 1: What are the chords? He gives us some option and
- 9:03Speaker 1: then we build. We build on that, and he is
- 9:06Speaker 1: just so talented that I I don't think I've ever
- 9:11Speaker 1: heard anything that he did that sounded off for us.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It's like, literally I could come with him with any
- 9:18Speaker 1: input and we would have like a hit.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Single someoney, you got any any shows coming up that
- 9:31Speaker 2: people can check out?
- 9:34Speaker 1: I have? So I am friends with this booker here
- 9:38Speaker 1: in Berlin. He used to book my old band, uh
- 9:41Speaker 1: and he offered us two opening slots for two popular bands.
- 9:47Speaker 1: But it's not confirmed, so I cannot say it. Maybe
- 9:50Speaker 1: when we shut the cameras I say it to you.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Well about have what's the best flash for people to
- 9:57Speaker 2: keep up with what's going on with Luther?
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think Instagram and Spotify. Of course we are on
- 10:04Speaker 1: band camp because that's that's what we need to do
- 10:07Speaker 1: and that's what's right to do. And yeah, and that's
- 10:09Speaker 1: it in YouTube as well. YouTube.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Very nice? All right? Well thanks you tomings me a
- 10:14Speaker 2: pleasure speak we did the song next time. Senda Kila
- 10:17Speaker 2: is out now. It's an absolute fucking banger. I suggest
- 10:20Speaker 2: everyone checks it out and look forward to hearing what
- 10:22Speaker 2: the future holds for you. Guys.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Thank you so much for having us today. That's so exciting.
