- 6:30That's right, all right, let's get into the show. First off,
- 6:33we're gonna be talking about Rudolph Richard Davis, Junior, who I believe kind
- 6:42of came into the radar of the Garrison investigation, which kind of peaked the
- 6:47interest of the FBI as well. So on July seventeenth, nineteen and sixty
- 6:55seven, Rudolph Richard Davis Jr. Who resides at twenty nine oh one brier
- 7:00Hurst, Apartment thirty one, furnished to following information, Davis hasn't no time
- 7:05had any association with any organization known as the Minutemen, and to his knowledge,
- 7:12he has never known anyone who was associated with that organization. Oh well,
- 7:16shit, sorry, that's something. Davis has no information regarding any association
- 7:27with any Minutemen organization on the part of Lee Harvey Oswald either hm shit,
- 7:34oh sorry he man, sorry, I got sneezier. Davis, in the
- 7:41fall of nineteen sixty three, met Lee Harvey Oswald on two occasions in New
- 7:45Orleans, Louisiana, in connection with anti castro activities in which Davis was active
- 7:51at the time in the New Orleans area. So it says he in connection
- 7:57with these meetings with Lee Harvey Oswald. Davis stated they met Oswald at the
- 8:01time that Oswald was passing out pro castro leaflets on Canal Street. Now,
- 8:07hold on, folks, I keep and maybe it's because I'm looking into something
- 8:13else at the time, but I see and read about so many people who
- 8:22came who was either there or they saw or they watched, or they filmed
- 8:28or they heard about this fracas street fracas one Canal Street between Oswald and Brynier.
- 8:37You know, like it's the one o'clock game on Sunday. It's the
- 8:41place to be. Get your ass down the Canal Street. Folks. We're
- 8:46gonna see the standoff between the pro castro and anti castro on one side,
- 8:50and we're gonna get it on like it's the rumbling in the jungle. I
- 8:58don't know, but apply Rudolph Richard Davis slid as well. Let's see,
- 9:09Yeah, Davis contacted Oswald at Oswald's apartment in New Orleans in an effort to
- 9:18obtain information concerning Oswald's pro castro activities. At that time, Oswald refused to
- 9:26have anything to do with Davis. So this is interesting. So we have
- 9:37carlos Quiroga going to Oswald's apartment and talking to him about his pro castro activities.
- 9:50We have Rudolph Richard Davis, excuse me, going to Oswald's apartment.
- 9:56But if you remember, Oswald when he handed the leaflet album was putting on
- 10:01there at the address of forty nine oh seven Magazine Street, which is kind
- 10:05of where he lived. He actually lived, I think it was forty nine
- 10:09oh five or which is a little apartment off to the side of the main
- 10:15residence. But yeah, why would why would put your personal address on flyer
- 10:24for anybody to come. It's beyond me, But okay, it says Davis
- 10:31was born September ninth. Hey, that's today when I'm recording this. Well,
- 10:39happy birthday. Rudolph Richard Davis h might be still alive. He was
- 10:46born in nineteen thirty four. That would make him eighty nine years old.
- 10:54He might still be alive, So well, if you are, and you're
- 10:56out there, every buddy haven Bay like I said. Born September ninety,
- 11:03nineteen thirty four, in New York, New York. At the age of
- 11:07two, he moved to Cuba from New York with his parents, as his
- 11:11father owned a sugar mill in Cuba Uba. Davis left Cuba in January nineteen
- 11:18sixty one, entering the United States on January the thirty first, nineteen sixty
- 11:24one, at Miami, Florida. He proceeded to New York City, where
- 11:30he worked as a sugar broker, A sugar broker, broker, a sugar
- 11:35broker. He remained in New York City until October sixty one, when he
- 11:41moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, to join his parents and sister, who
- 11:48were residing there already. Shortly after his arrival at New Orleans, he became
- 11:54associated with an anti anti anti anti Castro group. Davis was then employed as
- 12:01an insurance salesman. UH and that's it for this FBI report taken by special
- 12:09agents James Weir and Donald Steinmeyer and Houston, Texas on July seventeen, nineteen
- 12:13and sixty seven. Volks, But that's not the end of the story.
- 12:20No new new, new new, No, no, no no, because
- 12:28he also alleges something else. What could that be? H? Well,
- 12:39here we go, all right. In March of nineteen sixty eight, the
- 12:46FBI was investigating a company by the name of Guatemala Lumber and Mineral Corporation.
- 12:56Okay, why you asked, Well, I'll tell you information which you have
- 13:07furnished concerning the investigation. Now, this is a memorandum directly to the Director
- 13:13of the Federal BuOrd of Investigation by Jay Walter Yagely, Assistant Attorney General of
- 13:18the Internal Security Division, and this is marked confidential all over at folks.
- 13:28So here we go. Information which you have furnished concerning the investigation being conducted
- 13:33by New Orleans DA James Garrison in connection with the assassination of President Kennedy indicates
- 13:41that Garrison has shown an interest in a Cuban refugee training camp near New Orleans
- 13:46which was operated by Richard Rudolph Davis in the summer sixty three. So not
- 13:52only did he move there in sixty one to be there close to his parents
- 13:56and sisters. Of By nineteen sixty three, he is training Cuban refugees in
- 14:05guerrilla tactics in these swamps of Louisiana. Garrison report he believes that some of
- 14:11these individuals affiliated with the camp were involved in the assassination of President Kennedy,
- 14:16and that Lee Harvey Oswald was at that camp. We note that your investigation
- 14:22of the assassination disclosed no information indicating that Oswald had any contact with Davis or
- 14:28the anti Castro organization which Davis represented in New Orleans, the move Ofmento Democratica
- 14:35Cristiano, and that data concerning an alleged training camp, including a report of
- 14:41an October first, nineteen sixty three, interview with Davis, was disseminated to
- 14:46the Warrant Commission. During this interview, Davis advised and in early sixty three
- 14:52he made friends with persons in the lumber business in Guatemala, with whom he
- 14:56formed a Louisiana incorporation called the Guatemala Lumber and Mineral Corporation and served as its
- 15:03vice president. David said that in the summer sixty three, some nineteen men
- 15:11were recruited from Miami through a representative of the Movamiento democratic A Cristiano for the
- 15:18purpose of being trained in this lumber cutting operation. He added that when the
- 15:22men learned they were to work in the lumber industry and not and we're not
- 15:26recruited for a military operation, they became disenchanted and returned to Miami. So
- 15:35this is the cover story. Folks. They bring in all these anti Castro
- 15:41Cubans in to Louisiana telling him may We're going to train in guerrilla warfare.
- 15:46Oh, by the way, set down all these trees if you will too
- 15:52as well, And they said, no, yeah, we're not working.
- 15:58We want to be trained with networking. Davis gave a somewhat different account of
- 16:06the origins of the training camp during a subsequent interview on July the fourteen sixty
- 16:12seven, set forth in a Bureau memorandum at Houston, Texas which we just
- 16:18read from blah blah blah. He stated that he set up a training site
- 16:22for exile Cubans on the day Labarre estate in Lacnowe, Louisiana, with the
- 16:27assistance of John Burke's Society members and occasionally afforded prominent and wealthy John Burke's Society
- 16:34members a demonstration of the Quote training activities, after which he would receive a
- 16:41financial contribution for the training program. Davis also stated this interview that he met
- 16:48Lee Harvey Oswald on two occasions in nineteen sixty three, once while Oswald was
- 16:55passing out literature on the street, which we talked about, at another time
- 16:59a Wald's department, during which he attempted without success, to obtain information about
- 17:03Oswalt's pro Cuban activities. Davis claiming that he had refused to discuss his activities
- 17:10with Garrison's investigators, but admitted that in approximately March of sixty seven, he
- 17:15was paid five hundred dollars, which was a lot of money at the time,
- 17:18by Time Life magazine to show reporters the training site, and that one
- 17:23hundred and ninety photographs were taken for an article on the Garrison probe. We
- 17:29are aware from earlier information which you have furnished concerning Davis that he had been
- 17:33variously described as a quote promoter and a hustler who will do anything for money
- 17:41and is often carried away with his own thinking. However, and a view
- 17:45of his somewhat conflicting statements about the origins of his training camp. We would
- 17:49appreciate receiving any additional information you may have in your files concerning the Guatemalan Lumber
- 17:55and Mineral Corporation and its other officers with whom Davis claims to be associated in
- 18:02this connection. Attached as a copy of the articles in Corporation of the Corporation
- 18:07which we obtained from the Office of the Secretary of State of Louisiana. The
- 18:11officers are listed on page six are substantially the same as those mentioned by Davis
- 18:17into October the first nineteen sixty three interview with the Bureau and are as followers.
- 18:25Joseph R. Miller, President and Director of this company, thirty three
- 18:32or five Palmyra Street, New Orleans, Louisiana. Rudolph Richard Davis, Junior
- 18:37Vice President and Director two thousand one Now Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.
- 18:44Thus Jay Lebar Vice president and director the pair Marquette Building, which is interesting,
- 18:55folks, that is the same building which De ray Gil had an afice,
- 19:02and believe Eugene Hale Brady headed office, and possibly David Ferry and his
- 19:18brother F. D. V. D. Labar, who is a secretary
- 19:22and treasurer in his office is with his brothers at seventen pair Mark kept Building,
- 19:26New Orleans, Louisiana. With regard to Joseph R. Miller at Departmental
- 19:32Files Continny Buer report of Special Agent Warren Debris dated March sixteenth, nineteen fifty
- 19:38nine, captioned unsubed Nicaraguan Mayo unsub aka J. Miller Jr. Export Manager
- 19:48laps In Enterprises, doctor albert A parsh A Parichio Internal Security Nicaragua registration Jay
- 19:56Millen Jr. Who described himself as export manager of the Absent Enterprises PO Box
- 20:03one seven, New Orleans, requested price quote Chasians on a large quantity of
- 20:08various war surplus goods from Rowlands in in New Orleans. Information from the Immigration
- 20:15and Naturalization Service file of one jose Roberto Mia Miller Alien registration number six oh
- 20:22one four two to two born February seventh, nineteen ten. Hey, that's
- 20:27my birthday February not nineteen ten, but February seventh. Huh. And Guatemala
- 20:34City, Guatemala, is also set for the in this report, but it
- 20:38was not definitely established that he was identical with the individual who would requested the
- 20:42price quotes. Well, so what kind of place was this was? This
- 20:48is some kind of front who was aiding in the bedding? Uh? These
- 20:52anti castro raids. All right, we got to hear the articles of corporation
- 21:03for the for the company and they are all dutably signed and notarized by a
- 21:11public officer than Now. Interestingly enough, Gus Jay Lebar Right, one of
- 21:29the brothers who have been officed in the Paramrquette building who are also in business
- 21:34together with Richard Ricardo whatever his name is, Davis UH has an interesting ramp
- 21:44sheet h United States Department of Justice fd OUR Federal Bureau of Investigation. The
- 21:55following AMBI record is furnished for official use only. Information shown on his ID
- 22:02record represents data furnished the FBI by fingerprint contributors. Where final disposition is not
- 22:07shown. For a further explanation of charge is desired, communicate with the agency
- 22:12contributing those fingerprints. Now, so this is basically a fingerprint file. So
- 22:25the first and there's two entries on here. So in nineteen fifty four they
- 22:33have Loostav Joseph Lebar Junior's fingerprints. They received him from the army. He
- 22:41would discharge from the army November the first, nineteen fifty four as a G
- 22:48two. The next place that the FBI received fingerprints from Gustav jay Lebard Jr.
- 22:56Is from the Police Department in New Orleans, Louisiana. And this was
- 23:00on May the twentieth, nineteen fifty eight. And you're gonna love this for
- 23:07exposing another person to his penis. M Yeah, now, I think that's
- 23:21what it means, because I'll tell you exactly what it says. Exposing his
- 23:26person too with his penis. I'm guessing that he took it out and shook
- 23:37it at somebody at some point, maybe scared an old lady or child with
- 23:41it, who knows. But that's where they got their second set of fingerprints
- 23:56from the New Orleans PD. Lots of good, wholesome folks in New Orleans
- 24:03back then, people. I'll tell you what. And just to put a
- 24:11neat little bow on this before we get into our next wholesome New Orleans resident,
- 24:21I'm not one hundred percent sure that this Rudolf Richie Davis is not the
- 24:26same Richard or Ricardo Davis who worked as a part time investigator for Dean Andrews,
- 24:38because, as you remember, folks, Dean Andrews also saw the street
- 24:45fracas on Canal Street with Oswald and Bringier and all that jazz, and also
- 24:51knew Oswald because he had been in his office inquiring about his discharge and his
- 24:57something about his wife becoming a citizen or something, so very interesting stuff there.
- 25:07I'm not not sure the same fellow, but they got the same name
- 25:11and they saw the same things at the same time, so it definitely should
- 25:15be could be. All right, Next up we're gonna get into uh,
- 25:22a fellow by the name of Dante Marishini, the big cherry on top,
- 25:30folks, or maybe it was the bottom who knows? Oh? Sorry,
- 25:41all right, Well, apparently apparently by the time of the HSCA they could
- 25:48not find the man himself, the big cherry on top or the bottom,
- 25:52whichever you want. Uh. In nineteen seventy eight, so so investigator Robert
- 26:06Buris Uh served a fellow by the name of William Tandres a summons for all
- 26:15records of an ex employee named Dante Marishini on the above date. Mister Andras
- 26:22gave the Select Committee eighty four pages of records regarding this individual. Copy of
- 26:26the original summons attached to this report. So what did this outside contact report
- 26:37from May the second, nineteen seventy eight say, Well, I will tell
- 26:45you. On Tuesday, May the second, nineteen seventy eight, at approximately
- 26:49four pm, Investigator Robert Buris received eighty four Z rocks pages of employee excuse
- 26:59me, employ records of mister Dante Marrocchini, a white male born in February
- 27:04twenty eight, nineteen twenty five, in Brooklyn, New York. Social Security
- 27:11number DA DA described as five foot six, one thousand, I'm sorry,
- 27:22one hundred and forty three pounds, soaking wet, dark eyes and hair,
- 27:26bony face and stained teeth stained by what. Well, I'll let you use
- 27:33your imagination there, folks. President, Address and employment unknown. The records
- 27:37were supplied by mister Andres who's the personnel director for Chrysler Michel. The investigator
- 27:45also spoke with mister Robert Taylor, a security office for the Chrysler Michel Corporation,
- 27:52regarding his knowledge of mister Marracchini. Mister Marraccini first applied for a job
- 27:57at Chrysler on October the thirdeen sixty two. He was interviewed by mister Taylor
- 28:03on March sixth, nineteen sixty three, and hired on August twenty sixth,
- 28:07nineteen sixty three. His employment was terminated, but when the defense contract ran
- 28:12out on March first, nineteen sixty eight, recommended follow up attempt to locate
- 28:18this guy and interview him. Well, didn't go too well. But so
- 28:34now the interesting part of all this fucks put it into some context for you.
- 28:42Vante Marischini worked at Riley Coffee Company at the same time that Lee Harvey
- 28:48Oswall was there. He also either lived next door to or right down the
- 28:56street from Clay Shaw on Dauphine Street. And he was also good friends with
- 29:03David Ferry. And of course we know the CIA connections between Riley Coffee Company
- 29:11and its owner William Riley and his anti castro activities. And it seems like
- 29:17a lot of his employees got ended up getting hired by this NASA Freisler Missile
- 29:26Complex and Michelle. But we'll get there, I promise. So his position
- 29:36there was entitled was Planning and Specifications Man, which consisted of maintaining records and
- 29:42ordering materials and recording their usage. His work was satisfactory, and he received
- 29:48pay raises as they came to He made numerous oral and written complaints that he
- 29:56was not being promoted to a higher position because of personality conflicts with his immediate
- 30:00supervisors. He states in one letter that he has been victimized by his supervisors.
- 30:07He did not receive any promotions that he requested in the later years that
- 30:11he worked for Chrysler. However, he was written an offer of another position
- 30:15in nineteen seventy two, but his letter would return to the company for lack
- 30:19of affording address. Marashini supervisor was a mister John O'Neill who is now retired
- 30:26and living in Slidell, Louisiana. Maraschini lists his previous employment from forty nine
- 30:33through sixty four when he is hired by Michelle. In his employment he lists
- 30:40the William B. Raley Coffee Company, New Orleans, Louisiana. I'm sorry,
- 30:45the Standard Coffee Company, New Orleans, Louisiana from three nineteen sixty three
- 30:52to six ten, sixty three as a salesman. This company is a part
- 30:56of William Raley Coffee Company, where Lee Harvey Oswald worked from May ten of
- 31:00sixty three to July nineteen sixty three. Marishini also worked at Arno's Restaurant in
- 31:08the French Quarter from June tenth, sixty three to August twenty five, sixty
- 31:12three. This restaurant is the same one that Kerry Thornley worked at from October
- 31:18to November of sixty three, at which time he was working on his book
- 31:21about Oswald. Thornley states that it. Thornley states this in his Affidavid to
- 31:29Jim Garrison and the Select Committee's copy of the Federal Aviation Agency hearings of David
- 31:36Ferry. Dante Marishini is mentioned. There's beings us as an interpreter for an
- 31:44Italian educational certificate from quote the University of Phoenix, Bari, Italy, which
- 31:52stated that Ferry has a PhD. So this guy is the reason David Ferry
- 31:59is called doctor David Ferring. Thanks Dante Maraschini for that, for this course
- 32:07that he interpreted. I'm sure Paine's takingly, you know, from Italian into
- 32:14English for David Serre so that he could become a doctor the University of Phoenix.
- 32:22Hmm. This university was investigated by Tolling Investigations, Inc. For the
- 32:27FAA, or believed to be a male Order University m no Shit Marichini,
- 32:34and listing his educational background, stated that he attended the met Magistral High School
- 32:38and Magistral Superior College in Bari, Italy. Mister Maraschini stated that he would
- 32:45get a transcript of his credits from Bari, Italy, but he never did.
- 32:51No security check was made on Maricchini at Michel because he did not have
- 32:54access to confidential material. And in Southern Research number eleven and two two four
- 33:01dated December nineteen sixty two, received by investigators Buras and delsa from Joseph Oster,
- 33:08president of Industrial Securities of Monroe, Louisiana, a surveillance report of eleven
- 33:15sixteen sixty two reports the following okay, Mister Jack Oliphant records an auto license
- 33:30number that comes to ferries address thirty three three three three three zero, Louisiana
- 33:39have a new parkway as one ninety seven eighteen the Louisiana license which was registered
- 33:46to Dante Marishini in nineteen fifty one Pontiac who resided at time at the time
- 33:55at thirteen o nine Dauphine Street. This they had dress is located next door
- 34:01right next door to mister Clay's Shaw's House thirteen o nine Daphine Street is mentioned
- 34:07by Maraschini whin fillingality background check of references. The references given are James Luallan
- 34:16who lived at thirteen h nine Daphine Street, Gertrude Harrison thirteen o nine Daphine
- 34:22Street, Pat Patterson legendary wrestler, Well that might be shit Pat Patterson three
- 34:30three one nine, Sergeant Drive Charlotte, North Carolina, doctor and Missus Irving
- 34:37Redler Bets Place Matie, Louisiana and Albert Farrow of Loyola Avenue, Nolans,
- 34:44Louisiana. Mister Robert Taylor security officers stated that he saw Maricchini one time at
- 34:52as he left Michel and he was working at the monteleone hotel in New Orleans.
- 34:59As well. Mister William Monteline was the organizer of large donors in New
- 35:02Orleans for money contributed to anti Castro Cubans. This comes from the New Orleans
- 35:20States Item of July twenty sixty seven. Dante Marishini, an early witness in
- 35:27the probe of District Attorney Jim Garrison of the assassination of President Kennedy, was
- 35:34arrested here today on a bad check warrant from Shelby, North Carolina. Marishini
- 35:42said he did not remember the check transaction in question. Assistant DA James Alcock
- 35:47said the arrest had absolutely nothing to do with the assassination probe. M Alcock
- 35:57theorized that the North Carolina authorities spotted Mary she Need's name and picturing the papers
- 36:01after his appearance as a witness, and this is probably the reason for the
- 36:06arrest after such a long period of time. Since nineteen sixty one, a
- 36:12warrant for the Mashow Space Plant workers arrest was sent from the Sheriff of Cleveland
- 36:16County, North Carolina to Frank Malach, a detective in Garrison's office, who
- 36:22turned it over to Criminal Sheriff Louis had Jr. The warrant charges in sixty
- 36:30one, Marishini wrote a check for one hundred and thirteen dollars payable to LP
- 36:36Money of Route three, Lonsdale, North Carolina. The warrant stated that the
- 36:42check drawn on the Union Trust Company of Shelby was not backed up by sufficient
- 36:45bank funds. Marischini said in November of sixty one he had worked in the
- 36:51Shelby area in the housing contracting business. In March of sixty seven, Marishini
- 36:58appeared in Garrison's office shortly after the arrest of Clay Shaw, who has been
- 37:02indicted in the alleged conspiracy to kill Kennedy. Maraschini's connections with the case has
- 37:08never been made clear, although he was reportedly a friend and neighbor of Shaw.
- 37:14Maroshini, who would not discuss the probe today, said he is a
- 37:16native of Brooklyn born of Italian parents. He indicated that he was in favor
- 37:22of the Garrison investigation, it would not condemn it. In declining to comment
- 37:29on the probe, Maraschini said, we cannot add gasoline or water or anything
- 37:32that might either excite or cool interest in the investigation. Maraschini, when he
- 37:37appeared in Garrison's office, told reporters, I don't know what this thing is
- 37:43all about. Sure you don't, buddy, Sure you don't. Attorney Jim
- 38:00Garrison was reported today seeking a possible connection between Lee Harvey Oswald. He accused
- 38:07the sassin of President John F. Kennedy and a group of men involved at
- 38:10a nineteen sixty three raid on a munitions cache in Lacombe Louisiana. The report
- 38:17came after Dante Marischini, aged forty two, the fourth man subpoenaed, and
- 38:24Garrison's probe of the alleged plot spent in nineteen minutes in the District Attorney's office
- 38:30yesterday. I don't know what this don thing is all about, Maraschini told
- 38:35newsman as he entered Garrison's office. When he immerged, a crowd of newsman
- 38:39pursued him. He ran away, shouting, what the heck? I know
- 38:44the freedom of press, but this oh. Marricchini works as a planning and
- 38:52specificatin's man at the Cryslo Mischow missile Clomplex manufacturing plant here in Michell, Louisiana.
- 39:00The first report of Garrison's interest from the ammunitioncies came from WDFU, which
- 39:05said it had been informed by reliable sources that he was trying to trace the
- 39:08identity of at least one American, not Oswald, who was believed to have
- 39:13been in the group. Among the items seized in the raid of July thirty
- 39:17first, nineteen sixty three, at an unoccupied house in Laclone, about twenty
- 39:22miles north of here, were twenty empty one hundred pound bomb casings, forty
- 39:28eight cases of dynamite, napalm, napalm, and firing caps. The FBI
- 39:35said the explosive were designed for use by persons planning a quote military operation against
- 39:39a foreign country with which the United States is at peace. The FBI identified
- 39:46the owner of the house as William Julius Malancey, New Orleans. His wife
- 39:55was quoted in an interview as saying the house had and alone to a Cuban
- 40:00exile friend she knew only as Jose Suarez Jose Warez. She said she and
- 40:08her husband had lived in Cuba until nineteen sixty and moved to New Orleans because
- 40:14Castro had made things impossible down there. Missus mcclancy was asked last night if
- 40:22Garrison's investigators or anyone else had contacted for about the incident. She replied no
- 40:28to both questions and refused to say anything further. Maroschini and Oswald once were
- 40:34employed here at the same time by the same coffee manufacturer, though in plants
- 40:37a block apart record show Oswald was an employee of the William Riley Coffee Plant
- 40:44and Marischini worked at summer at the Standard Coffee Company. Both firms were owned
- 40:46by William b Riley. Marischini lives in a middle class residential area near Lake
- 40:55Conchatrine. He speaks with a slight accident. He was born in Brooklyn and
- 41:00educated in Italy. He told newsman he once operated at a bar called Dante's
- 41:06Inferno. M hmm, sounds hot in there in the French Quarter. Come
- 41:14on down to Dante's Inferno, Baby, I'm char clay Seaw, I'm gonna
- 41:19be there. Yeah yeah, yeah, all right, so okay. Date
- 41:35line December the nineteenth, nineteen sixty two. A surveillance was maintained at David
- 41:44Ferry's residence from five thirty pm to eleven thirty pm. On Friday, November
- 41:49sixteenth, nineteen sixty two. David Ferry came home at about seven fifteen by
- 41:54himself and went into his house. At eight fifteen pm, Ferry in two
- 42:00men who appeared to be about his own age, walked away from Ferry's home
- 42:04and got into an automobile with nineteen sixty two Louisiana license one sevent eighteen.
- 42:13They had been instructed to record activity at the house and not to follow cars
- 42:16away from the house, since it was believed more important to determine who came
- 42:21to see him. This car came back at eleven pm and Ferry got out
- 42:27and went into his house. There was no further activity. Nineteen sixty two,
- 42:32License one ninety seventeen is issued to one Dante Mariucchini of thirteen o nine
- 42:38Dophine Street for a nineteen fifty one Pontiac. The following investigation was conducted by
- 42:45Edward M. Davis one November seventeenth, nineteen sixty two. The following and
- 42:52observations were made at thirty three thirty Louisiana Parkway, New Orleans, Louisiana.
- 42:59The observation commenced it approximately six thirty pm. At this time, the subject's
- 43:04automobile was absent from in front of the above dress. At seven thirty pm,
- 43:09subject arrived in the above automobile alone. He parked in front of the
- 43:15thirty three thirty Louisiana Avenue Parkway and entered the house at eight twenty five pm.
- 43:21In nineteen fifty four, four tutors to Day and Burying nineteen sixty two
- 43:23Louisiana, licensed three eleven Day six four one, with three boys in the
- 43:29car, arrived in front of the subjects home. They parked the car and
- 43:34all entered the home at thirty three thirty Louisiana Avenue Parkway. Shortly thereafter,
- 43:39two of the boys left the subjects home and walked in the direction of South
- 43:44Broad. The driver of this car is approximately eighteen years of age, six
- 43:49feet tall, slender, with brown hair. He was wearing an orange colored
- 43:52short sleeved shirt and dark colored slacks. The second boy was approximately sixteen years
- 43:59of age, five foot eight inches tall, a medium build, dark brown
- 44:05hair with a high wavy front. He was wearing a plaid shirt with dark
- 44:10slacks. The third boy was approximately fifteen years of age, slender, five
- 44:16foot six inches tall, a fair complexion, light brown hair, who was
- 44:21wearing light tan slacks and a light blue shirt. The latter two boys were
- 44:25the ones that left and walked towards South Broad. They returned at nine twenty
- 44:30pm and entered the ford with the wheezy inter license. Three eleven day,
- 44:34six four one and approximately nine thirty five pm, the driver of the car
- 44:38left subjects home and returned to the Belt to the above car with the two
- 44:44boys therein and departed, driving to South Broad. They parked at a bus
- 44:49stop near Broadmoor drug store on the corner of South Broad in Washington streetes.
- 44:53The second boy left the car and entered the drug store. After a few
- 44:58minutes, he returned to the car and they left, trapping north on Broad
- 45:00Street. The observation continued at thirty three thirty Louisiana Avenue Parkway until eleven.
- 45:08Piano subject had no other visitors during the above period. So it appears that
- 45:17Dante Maraschini is friends of David Ferry and also enjoys the company of young boys
- 45:27as does David Ferry. And oh, by the way that I mentioned it
- 45:32at the time, Dante Marischini is married with children. Yeah that part all
- 45:43right. Well, that's it for the big cherry on top or the bottom
- 45:45if you will, The Dante a macin with all these crazy connections between Clay
- 45:52Shaw, David Ferry, Oswald. But you know, apparently this guy is
- 45:58just oblivious to everything. Even though he was into what David Ferry was into.
- 46:01He was responsible for making him a doctor, doctor David Ferry. So
- 46:07yeah, this guy's got some very interesting stuff going on with him and was
- 46:12the fourth person disappointed by Clay or Jim Garrison. Okay, so I mean
- 46:22he even worked at the same restaurant carry Thornly was that in New Orleans at
- 46:25the same time he's writing a book about Oswald. The connections between these people
- 46:30in New Orleans are crazy when you get right down to it. So why
- 46:35don't we get into another one? Another fine resident, fine upstanding, wholesome
- 46:42resident of New Orleans named Leander Davy. Oh, here we go, All
- 46:51right, we have another HSCA interview this time, like I said, with
- 46:57Leondar Davy at the Patio Motel ruined them of sixty five. He was living
- 47:00large h at the time, or he might have been just been staying at
- 47:07the Patio Hotel, room number sixty five in nineteen seventy seven. Who knows
- 47:15anyway. This guy was born in January twenty sixth, nineteen twenty and four,
- 47:20five ten, one hundred and eighty pounds Air Force retired in nineteen sixty
- 47:25twenty years. Is that right? Yeah? I guess so. His mother's
- 47:44name is Missus. Missus Davy of eight ninety East Sandos Street in Opelousa,
- 47:52Louisiana, claims to have no arrest or convictions in his past. Somehow I
- 48:00doubt that. On Saturday, December sixteenth, nineteen seventy seven and approximately ten
- 48:07am investigators Bob Bureaus and Lawrence LJ. Del submit leand of Davey at the
- 48:14Greyhound bus station in New Orthans, Louisiana. Mister Davy was interviewed that day
- 48:19in room sixty five of the Patio Motel located on Tulane Avenue in New Orleans,
- 48:25or Davy was shown approximately sixty photographs and he has to identify those that
- 48:30he knew. He identified the following photographs of people that seem familiar to him,
- 48:36but he can't remember anything specific about. These include Ndido Rashampti, Maguel
- 48:43Mariana Cruz, Roy Hargraves. There's a name we know, Lord Neville.
- 48:49Another name we know, John Meadows, William Brady, Norberto Fernandez, Leonard
- 48:55Wall, Florencio Valaria, and Roberto Cortez. Couldn't tell you about any any
- 49:04of them other guys. The following people were were identified by photograph that mister
- 49:08Davy positively remembered as having seen around the Court of Two Sisters restaurant located at
- 49:14six one three Royal Street, New Orleans, will Buisiana. This restaurant and
- 49:21bar has an entrance in the six hundred block of Bourbon Street. Also,
- 49:24mister Davy works as a dormant at his entrance from nineteen sixty one to sixty
- 49:30three. The people who identified were Harold B. Sandos Jr. Couldn't tell
- 49:36you, Jose Mayor all Hepe Loop, David Ferry, Hey, there's a
- 49:42name we know, Sergio or Clasha Smith, Ding Ding Ding, Thomas Freaking
- 49:46backham Man, say Shaw, Lawrence, Howard Fridly, Chrisman, Jack Ruby.
- 49:53Okay. Mister Davy also knows mister Eugene Davis, but the investigated did
- 50:00not have a photograph of him at this time. Mister Davy also identified the
- 50:04Harvey Oswald and the first and second Tramps as having been in his company.
- 50:12Eugene Davis was a manager, Margaret Tannenbaum was a bookkeeper, and Nick Harno
- 50:16was the owner one of the Court of two Sisters. As the doorman on
- 50:22Bourbon Street, mister Davy did not see the customers in the patio or the
- 50:25restaurant in Oyster Bar. He did see people occasionally in the front bar.
- 50:37The restaurant goes through the entire block and was at that time and still it's
- 50:43one of the better places to eat in the French Quarter. It was a
- 50:45favorite with the tourist trade, when which the dorman attempts to introduce to the
- 50:50people walking on Bourbon Street. It had not a neighborhood type bar and very
- 50:55few people would just hang out in any part of the business. Anyone not
- 50:59dressed for an evening meal would not be allowed to come into the place.
- 51:02It was not a black tie affair, but people in work clothes were not
- 51:07allowed in. Mister Davy worked only at night and was paid in cash by
- 51:12Jeane Davis ten dollars a night. One night, while he was working the
- 51:15door, a young man that he later realized was Lee Harvey Oswald came up
- 51:20to him and I asked him if he knew where Clay Bertrand was. Davy
- 51:24replied that he did not know and inquired of missus Markert Tannenball if anyone by
- 51:30that name worked in the place. Jean Davis was standing nearby and told Davy
- 51:35that he would speak with the young man. Oswald and Davis then went into
- 51:38the restaurant for a while. Later, as Oswald was leaving, Davy heard
- 51:44Jean Davis tele waitress see that young man there he just returned from behind the
- 51:51iron curtain. That was the first time that Davy saw Oswald. He couldnot
- 51:55put a time or date to this meeting. The second time that Davy saw
- 52:01Oswald was sometime near November of nineteen sixty three. Davy missed Jean Davis the
- 52:08night before and did not get paid. He went to the court in the
- 52:13day sometime afternoon and asked where he could find Jean Davis. A waiter told
- 52:17him that Jean Davis was in the storeroom. The waiter had to tell Davy
- 52:21how to get to the storm room because he had never been there before.
- 52:24Davy went into the restaurant and up a spiral staircase, went to a porch
- 52:29that was on the second floor of the building that ran alongside the patio where
- 52:34customers eight. He walked to the last two doors near the Bourman Street side.
- 52:38The staircase was on the Royal Street side, and he knocked on the
- 52:43door and someone said to come in. He walked into the second room from
- 52:46the Bourbon Street side and saw Jean Davis in the room with Oswald laying on
- 52:52an iron hosted bed wearing black pants. What about David Ferry was looking out
- 53:01of a window towards the back of the rooms. Jerry was sitting on the
- 53:06bed as if they had been talking, and stopped when he came in.
- 53:13To his left was another room, and through the door he could see that
- 53:16there was a kitchen and there were two army type thoughts set up with covers
- 53:21on them, as if someone was using them as a bed. In this
- 53:25room he saw two Americans. The man he saw best look like the photograph
- 53:31of the first tramp. The other man looked like the second tramp. No
- 53:37one except Jean talked and he only said see you later. That was the
- 53:42only other time that he saw Oswald. Dybo stated that Oswald looked quote different
- 53:49the second time. He couldn't elaborate any further on that description, but he
- 53:53insisted that he looked different. Well, maybe because Oswald was in Texas in
- 54:00November of nineteen sixty three. So who was this Oswald quote Oswald that he
- 54:07saw in a bed with Jean Davids and David Ferry. Mister Davies stated that
- 54:20he had seen Ferry around there four or five more times. He usually had
- 54:23a Cuban guy with him and he came there. He never saw who Ferry
- 54:29talked to you. Because of his position out front, he only saw him
- 54:31come in and leave. People come and people go. Jose Peppe Mayoral was
- 54:45the head waiter and now lives in Miami, Florida. Pepe was good friends
- 54:51with Harold Sandos Jr. Mister Davy would take Jose Mayoral and Harold Sandos around
- 54:57to the Cuban bars on Decades Street like the Hiba Nabar after they got off
- 55:02work. The place that they would go to that you can remember best as
- 55:07the Casa de la Marinus, located at six Zho one Decatur Street. He
- 55:12also seems to remember the Lasamericas as a place they went. It is located
- 55:17in the four hundred block of Decatur Street. Davy didn't know how many Cubans
- 55:22or didn't know many Cubans, but he says that after the Bay of Pegs
- 55:25invasion, a lot of them came to work at the restaurant. Davies remember
- 55:30seeing Sergio or Coscias Smith, Thomas Beckham, and Clay Shawl, but never
- 55:35talked to them and cannot put them together into business. He identifies the photo
- 55:39of Fridly Christman as the man that came around almost every week. During the
- 55:45nineteen sixty three and Jean Davis used to introduce him as quote my daddy in
- 55:52a joking manner. Wow Chrisman said that he was from Baton Rouge. Davy
- 56:00did not remember the name, but he would definitely recognize the face. He
- 56:05said that he remembers Fred Chrisman had a white car and he used to park
- 56:07it in the no parking zone in front of the entrance and would give Davy
- 56:12four or five dollars to watch it for him. One night, a car
- 56:17parked in the zone with the Texas license plate and he went to the side
- 56:21street and politely told the driver that this was a restricted zone. The driver
- 56:27unpolitely slapped him in the face and laughed at him, and then drove off.
- 56:31He heard the girl on the passer's side ask why did you do that?
- 56:35Jack? He could not remember what the other people in the car looked
- 56:38like. He states that this was the only time that he saw the guy,
- 56:44and when he saw photos of Jack Ruby, he recognized him. Mister
- 56:49Davy stated that he called mister Jim Garrison in nineteen sixty seven and took a
- 56:52trip to New Orleans and told him about the above related incidents involving Oswald and
- 56:58Clay Bertrand. He did not tell Mitter Garrison about the upstairs meeting because he
- 57:02was afraid at the time. At that time he techie polygraph examination and ministry
- 57:07by the DA's office and passed with flying colors and would do it the same
- 57:12again. She was not called to testify and the Clay Shawl trial, though,
- 57:17however, Jean Davis was named by New Orleans attorney Deanie Andrews as the
- 57:23Clay Bertrand. They called him on November twenty two, nineteen sixty three,
- 57:28and asked him to represent Lee, Oswald and Dallas. Then District Attorney Jim
- 57:32Garrison charged and convicted Deanie Andrews for perjuring himself when he testified before the Orleans
- 57:39Parents Grand Jury for identifying Davis and Bertrand as being the same person. Dean
- 57:45Andrews testified before the Warrange Mission and claimed not to know who the man was
- 57:50that retained him to represent Oswald. The owner of the Court of Two Sisters,
- 57:55Nick Corno is a close associate of Carlos Marcello and is alleged to have
- 58:00had to have his names on businesses in the French Quarter that are actually Marcello's.
- 58:07Nick Carno is presently fighting trial dates which his attorneys have been successfully putting
- 58:13off since Carno was indicted by the Orleans Paris Grand Jury from murder. In
- 58:19nineteen seventy four, he shot and killed a man in the Lastrada Lounge on
- 58:24Bourbon Street nightclub that he owned. His trialed and postponed due to his having
- 58:30a serious heart condition. The investigators did not talk to Nick Carno relative to
- 58:37this matter. The investigators talked with Eugene Davis several times during October and November
- 58:42of seventy seven. He is cordial and states that he is willing to help
- 58:45him the investigation. He was not interviewed, but in general conversation he denied
- 58:51knowing or ever having seen Lee Harvey Oswald. He does not know anything about
- 58:54Clay Shawn and cannot understand why Andrews named him as Clay Bertrand. Jean Davis
- 59:00now owns Wanda's Bar, located at seven O four Iberville Street in the French
- 59:06Quarter. This bar is a homosexual hangout. Eugene Davis stated that there were
- 59:12rooms above the Court of Two Sisters Patio, but they were used as storerooms,
- 59:16and Nick Carnal had an apartment up there that no one could use except
- 59:21Carnal. As stated above, Jean Davis denies knowing Clayshaw or Lee Harvey Oswald
- 59:28or knowing anything about their activities. He also denies knowing Jack S. Martin.
- 59:32In an interview with Thomas Beckham on November eighth, nineteen seventy seven,
- 59:37the Reporting investigators were told that Eugene Davis attended parties with Shaw, Beckham,
- 59:43Ferry, Martin, and David Ferry's apartment. Beckham was asked to get phony
- 59:47degrees and certificates for Jean Davis in sixty three. He did and gave them
- 59:52to Jack Martin to give to Jean Davis. The investigators will speak with mister
- 59:57Davis further and any additional information will be reported. And there you have,
- 1:00:06folks, mister Andrew Davey, So there is a bunch of fine, upstanding
- 1:00:14citizens of New Orleans just for you. You gotta love it. I mean,
