- 0:00Speaker 1: Yo, what's up? This is Tiny Temper on The Smoothie Show.
- 0:04Speaker 1: How you doing, man? You good?
- 0:05Speaker 2: I'm good. Holy shit. How many years has it been?
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's been ages, man. It's been ages.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Well, it's wonderful to see Tiny Temper back on the
- 0:12Speaker 2: show for the first time in years. How are you, mate?
- 0:15Speaker 1: Yes, indeed. I'm really good, bro. Couldn't be better. Life
- 0:18Speaker 1: is good at the moment. How are you?
- 0:20Speaker 2: I'm great. It's lovely to see you. I feel like
- 0:23Speaker 2: it's been far too long. Someone said something about it
- 0:26Speaker 2: being nine years or something like that, and the new
- 0:28Speaker 2: album is coming out.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yes, it has.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Where did time go?
- 0:33Speaker 3: Trust me, I ask myself this question all the time.
- 0:35Speaker 3: But during that time, I was just focusing on life.
- 0:40Speaker 3: You know, being an artist is definitely my real life.
- 0:42Speaker 3: But there were so many other things that I feel like, yeah,
- 0:47Speaker 3: I just wanted to focus on other areas of business.
- 0:49Speaker 3: So I set up a publishing company, started getting involved
- 0:53Speaker 3: in more kind of TV work around some of my passions,
- 0:56Speaker 3: like architecture and art and stuff like that. Took up
- 1:00Speaker 3: Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which I've been doing for about seven years now.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Are you still shredded? Are you still ripped and shredded?
- 1:06Speaker 1: Shredded, bro.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Oh, I bet you are.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Shredded, bro.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Are you on the peptides? Are you on the peptides?
- 1:11Speaker 1: No, no, not even, man. I've been hearing about these peptides, TRT.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I'm 100% natural, and I am going to be for
- 1:18Speaker 3: as long as I can, to be honest.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I love it. I was going to say, you touched
- 1:23Speaker 2: on it, but you have had a lot of things
- 1:25Speaker 2: on the boil. Did I not see you did an
- 1:27Speaker 2: episode of Dragon's Den?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Uh, in the UK as well.
- 1:31Speaker 3: So kind of was, it was so sick to get
- 1:34Speaker 3: on there as like a, you know, entrepreneur, someone who'd
- 1:37Speaker 3: likes to invest as an angel or whatnot. Like, yeah,
- 1:40Speaker 3: just been having fun, man. Just doing things that literally
- 1:42Speaker 3: get me excited.
- 1:43Speaker 2: You know, how great is that? Um, quickly sidebar on
- 1:46Speaker 2: the dragon's den. Uh, what was that like? Did you
- 1:49Speaker 2: invest in anybody or did you just steal their ideas, uh,
- 1:53Speaker 2: and then go and make them elsewhere?
- 1:56Speaker 1: Oh, man, no, no.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I invested in two businesses, actually. One was like a
- 2:01Speaker 3: Seamoss business.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Oh, yes. Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 3: And then the other one was like, I mean, she
- 2:07Speaker 3: called it like Ayurvedic ice cream, but it was all
- 2:09Speaker 3: kind of like locally made, really good quality products to produce,
- 2:14Speaker 3: et cetera, et cetera.
- 2:15Speaker 2: How's the Seamoss business going? Everyone's raging on the Seamoss business.
- 2:20Speaker 1: People are loving Seamoss in general. I mean... So far,
- 2:24Speaker 1: it's early days. It's very early still. I don't understand.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Tell me, sell it to me because apparently it's good
- 2:30Speaker 2: for you because they sell it at Air One in LA,
- 2:33Speaker 2: which is this expensive supermarket, and sea moss gel, and
- 2:37Speaker 2: you're meant to drink it, yeah?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Exactly, yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Sea moss gel, you can put it in smoothies. You
- 2:42Speaker 3: can put it in your acai or whatever. And it's
- 2:45Speaker 3: good for loads of things. It's something I've been using
- 2:48Speaker 3: basically my whole adult life. So whenever I'm in the
- 2:52Speaker 3: Caribbean or whatever, I'll get some sea moss gel made
- 2:56Speaker 3: up and I'll just put it in the smoothies and whatnot.
- 2:59Speaker 3: But you're going to have to go on Google or
- 3:01Speaker 3: chat to UBT to find out all of the actual qualities.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I will. Does it taste like shit, though? It looks
- 3:06Speaker 2: like it tastes like shit.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It kind of tastes like nothing. Oh, okay. Yeah, there's
- 3:11Speaker 1: no real taste to it.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Well, I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not
- 3:14Speaker 2: going to lie to you, Tiny. You've known me for
- 3:15Speaker 2: years now. I love to get on a trend. So
- 3:20Speaker 2: sign me up for the C-Miles. I love a trend.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Say no more. Try it for a little bit and
- 3:25Speaker 1: let me know if it makes a difference to your life.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Now tell me, a new album is coming out this Friday,
- 3:30Speaker 2: October 16. The Night's Not Dead.
- 3:34Speaker 1: The Night's Not Dead.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It is not. You are back. How long have you
- 3:38Speaker 2: been cooking on this for?
- 3:41Speaker 1: So I've been working on this for about two years now.
- 3:44Speaker 3: And I guess I've been working on new music in
- 3:46Speaker 3: general for about three years. But then I actually, I
- 3:49Speaker 3: slowly started to build this theme about two years ago,
- 3:52Speaker 3: just like learning that like nightlife culture was kind of
- 3:56Speaker 3: disappearing right in front of our eyes, especially, you know,
- 3:59Speaker 3: in and amongst the UK or a lot of the
- 4:02Speaker 3: small grassroots music venues that I grew up kind of
- 4:05Speaker 3: performing at, you know, in the earlier days or going
- 4:08Speaker 3: to see other acts or other shows. was just slowly
- 4:11Speaker 3: disappearing and, you know, making way for, you know, residential
- 4:16Speaker 3: apartment blocks or, you know, like, I don't know, some
- 4:19Speaker 3: sort of coffee shop or whatever. And for me, I
- 4:23Speaker 3: feel like so much exciting music has come out of
- 4:27Speaker 3: those spaces, especially from the UK, where we've had like
- 4:30Speaker 3: drum and bass, garage, grime, dubstep, all of these exciting genres. And,
- 4:36Speaker 3: I guess now we have social media so you can
- 4:39Speaker 3: market yourself and you can be seen and you can
- 4:41Speaker 3: be discovered. But I feel like these spaces allowed for
- 4:45Speaker 3: scenes to be built, you know, DJs, artists, you know, MCs,
- 4:52Speaker 3: even from the bouncer, you know, from the girl behind
- 4:54Speaker 3: the bar, it was all a culture. There was a
- 4:56Speaker 3: culture around it, you know, certain fashion sense. And if
- 4:59Speaker 3: we lose those spaces, I kind of worry for the
- 5:02Speaker 3: next generation.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Do the, do the kids go out in the UK anymore?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Cause they don't go out here in Australia. I think
- 5:07Speaker 2: this is half the problem is that they're not drinking.
- 5:10Speaker 2: They're all into their, their run clubs. So like, you know, yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 2: they're in their paddle, their pickle. Um, it's a thing
- 5:18Speaker 2: in Australia. Like it's actually a struggle for like bands
- 5:21Speaker 2: that used to, as you said, would come up playing
- 5:24Speaker 2: the circuit or doing shows. And that's how you used
- 5:26Speaker 2: to discover music. Uh, now you sort of have to
- 5:30Speaker 2: make some viral Tik TOK thing or something like that.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Because they're not going out and they're not drinking and
- 5:35Speaker 2: they're not going out until the early hours of the
- 5:37Speaker 2: morning anymore.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. You know what?
- 5:40Speaker 3: I think it's, you know, I think it's natural for
- 5:44Speaker 3: society to evolve and to kind of start thinking differently
- 5:48Speaker 3: and for generation upon generation to have different habits. I
- 5:51Speaker 3: think it's great that people are a lot more health
- 5:54Speaker 3: conscious now. I've always been health conscious, but I think
- 5:57Speaker 3: there's kind of room to kind of do it all
- 5:59Speaker 3: if that makes sense. I think, A little bit of
- 6:02Speaker 3: balance of everything in life is what makes, to me,
- 6:05Speaker 3: life interesting and makes life worth living. You could be
- 6:09Speaker 3: somebody that gets up at 6, 7 a.m. every morning,
- 6:12Speaker 3: goes for a run, tends to keep fit, but on
- 6:16Speaker 3: an occasion, a celebration, maybe a season.
- 6:19Speaker 1: You know, if you're going to.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Step out and, you know, go out to early hours
- 6:23Speaker 3: of the morning where you actually, it's not a prerequisite
- 6:26Speaker 3: to have a drink. You don't have to consume alcohol
- 6:29Speaker 3: to go out and have a good time.
- 6:30Speaker 1: It helps.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It helps. personally i mean i just went to vegas
- 6:37Speaker 2: the other week holy fuck i gave that a red
- 6:39Speaker 2: hot crack let me tell you it was and the
- 6:41Speaker 2: problem was the problem was is that i thought i
- 6:44Speaker 2: was just doing normal but because i don't do it
- 6:48Speaker 2: as often as i wasn't match fit tiny In fact,
- 6:52Speaker 2: I just caught.
- 6:52Speaker 1: You, blindsided you.
- 6:54Speaker 2: It absolutely did. I was drinking like I was 20,
- 6:59Speaker 2: not realizing that's not how old I am anymore.
- 7:01Speaker 1: That's not it. That's not it.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Well, I guess we're veterans in the game. But I
- 7:06Speaker 3: think the difference with now is that, you know, we're
- 7:08Speaker 3: quite fortunate to travel to places like Vegas and, you know,
- 7:12Speaker 3: be able to.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Experience what we experienced.
- 7:14Speaker 3: And so just pace yourself a little bit.
- 7:16Speaker 1: It's not running away, as you've learned. It's not going anywhere. Totally.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Vegas will be here next year and the year after that,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you know.
- 7:22Speaker 3: So I tend to now take it easy, but I'm
- 7:26Speaker 3: just a firm believer of balance of everything. You can
- 7:29Speaker 3: be very fit and health conscious and, you know, let
- 7:32Speaker 3: loose and have a crazy night out every once in
- 7:34Speaker 3: a while.
- 7:34Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I like that. You're going to have a crazy night
- 7:37Speaker 2: out here in Australia too. You're coming down under.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. You are. Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Literally two weeks.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I will be there probably. Yeah, two weeks, man.
- 7:44Speaker 3: It literally feels like it's going to take me about
- 7:47Speaker 3: two weeks to get there on the flight.
- 7:48Speaker 1: So I should technically be on the plane now.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But yeah, I can't wait, man. I'm super excited.
- 7:53Speaker 3: We were there in November for the Friday's Live with
- 7:58Speaker 3: Wiz Khalifa, Mariah Carey, Pitbull, Little John.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And it was great. It was incredible.
- 8:04Speaker 3: So Australia is like my second home now, literally. I
- 8:08Speaker 3: can't wait to come back.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I love that. How was Mariah? I heard some wild
- 8:11Speaker 2: stories about her. People who've been in her, she works
- 8:14Speaker 2: on Mariah time. Have you heard of that? She doesn't
- 8:17Speaker 2: have a clock. She doesn't have a clock around her
- 8:19Speaker 2: because a clock ages her. So she's removed all the
- 8:21Speaker 2: clocks from her life.
- 8:24Speaker 1: She doesn't get old. Well, maybe we should all try that.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I totally agree.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I totally agree.
- 8:30Speaker 1: This is the first I've heard of it.
- 8:32Speaker 3: But to be honest, I was so like focused on,
- 8:36Speaker 3: I guess, enjoying the experience. And, you know, I flew
- 8:39Speaker 3: out a couple of close friends and my close team. So,
- 8:42Speaker 3: We were just enjoying being in Australia and enjoying watching
- 8:45Speaker 3: all the shows. I saw Mariah Carey's show on a
- 8:48Speaker 3: couple of occasions.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Thought it was really good.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Was really blown away by what Pitbull did as well.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Just the kind of fan phenomena that he has at
- 8:59Speaker 3: the moment.
- 8:59Speaker 1: It was really great. It's kind of inspiring, actually. Absolutely.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Hey, Tiny Temper, album out Friday, The Night's Not Dead.
- 9:06Speaker 2: It has been a while since I've seen you, so
- 9:08Speaker 2: I just want to quickly touch base. I want to
- 9:10Speaker 2: find out how tiny is your temper. You ready to go?
- 9:12Speaker 1: Let's go, bro.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Have you mellowed, though? Because you're a dad now. You've
- 9:16Speaker 2: got to take the high road.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm a dad now, yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 2: You've got to take the high road, you know? Like,
- 9:20Speaker 2: you can't just be popping off like you're 20-something.
- 9:22Speaker 3: You can't be popping off, man, definitely. So I feel
- 9:26Speaker 3: like I've definitely mellowed out a bit more. And I
- 9:28Speaker 3: was always mellow to begin with, you know?
- 9:30Speaker 2: Let's find out. Someone cuts you off in traffic. Tiny
- 9:33Speaker 2: temper or not?
- 9:37Speaker 3: I think London does something to you, man. I think
- 9:40Speaker 3: London does something to you. I think everyone has it.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I'm not the only one.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'm going to say I've got a temper. It's not
- 9:46Speaker 1: tiny at that point.
- 9:47Speaker 2: No, no, no. You write a long text message and
- 9:51Speaker 2: then you only get a thumbs up reaction back. Tiny
- 9:55Speaker 2: temper or not?
- 9:55Speaker 1: No, I don't mind. I don't mind that. That's fine.
- 10:01Speaker 2: You're better than... See, I can't stand passive aggressiveness personally.
- 10:05Speaker 2: If I give you all the effort of a long
- 10:07Speaker 2: text message, please give me a couple of words in return.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Sometimes I think human beings, we can be too transactional.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I've done it for you, so I expect this. I
- 10:19Speaker 3: think The less you expect from individuals, the more at
- 10:24Speaker 3: peace you'll be in your life.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Oh, I like that.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 10:28Speaker 2: That's really good.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You can't force them. You can't control them. Do you
- 10:31Speaker 1: get what I'm saying? I eat you. That's my philosophy anyway.
- 10:35Speaker 2: You order your food delivery on Uber Eats or whatever.
- 10:39Speaker 2: It arrives late and there's something missing out of the bag.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Tiny temper or not.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm absolutely living.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Especially if I've got out from a relatively busy day,
- 10:51Speaker 3: it's getting late, I'm hitting the cut-off point of.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Ordering the stuff. So now I'm not even going to
- 10:56Speaker 1: be able to order it again. That's the absolute worst.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I think being hangry, it's a different type of angry, right?
- 11:04Speaker 1: It's a different thing, man.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Because you can't control it. You're aware that you're hangry
- 11:08Speaker 2: as you're being hangry, but your body's screaming for food.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. It's a horrible feeling, man.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Last one. The person in front of you on the
- 11:18Speaker 2: plane reclines their seat during a one-hour flight. Tiny temper
- 11:23Speaker 2: or not?
- 11:25Speaker 1: Well, I've got a confession to make, guys. I am
- 11:28Speaker 1: that person.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I am the person that does that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 3: On the short haul flights around Europe, I can't wait
- 11:36Speaker 3: to press that button and just go.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Oh, is that so? See, Tani, I'm disappointed. I was
- 11:41Speaker 2: hoping your answer was going to be, I don't know
- 11:43Speaker 2: what you're talking about. I only fly up the front
- 11:45Speaker 2: of the plane. Recline or not recline, I'm never interrupted.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Nah, man. I'll take any sort of flight. Easy jet,
- 11:52Speaker 1: private jet, whatever. I don't mind, man. Wow.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I would die to see you on an easy jet
- 11:57Speaker 2: or Ryanair flight. That would be fun. Hey, I can't
- 12:01Speaker 2: wait to have you here in Australia. The album is
- 12:02Speaker 2: out Friday. You're going to be here October 31 in
- 12:05Speaker 2: Melbourne at the Beverly Rooftop. Sir, wonderful to see you.
- 12:09Speaker 2: It's honestly so great to see you. It's been such
- 12:11Speaker 2: a long time, so it's so great to say hello.
- 12:13Speaker 1: It's been ages, sir. Really good to see you, Smallsy.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Appreciate you for having me, bro.
