- Shamus: Hello everybody. What's going on? My name is Seamus. We'd like to welcome you to the first ever episode of the pork roll egg and cheese podcast. Thank you for listening and hopefully you guys will enjoy what we got in store for you in the next coming weeks and months and possibly years. Herbie, what's going on my man? Herbie: And I'm her bae. It's just work and not living the life of the world of the pork roll egg and cheese podcast. We shall make this into fruition. Shamus: Yes, sir. And I'll tell you what, man, you talking to certain people, we've been on other podcasts and stuff. And like to me, this was like the moon, like watching those guys work and all that. I'm like, ⁓ my God, man, this is like some really professional stuff. Yeah. But then doing research and all that stuff. This stuff is not really that hard. So if you're listening and you know, you think you can't do a podcast, by all means, man, just do a little bit of research and you too could be doing this with the eight million other podcasts out there. So. Herbie: You can definitely do it. Shamus: All right. So what we're going to do today is this is the introductory pod. We're just going to let you know what we have in store for you, what our expectations are and tell you a little bit about ourselves. Um, Herbie, why don't you give us a little bit of background? Um, where are from? Herbie: I am originally from the Bronx, New York. Shamus: All right, how'd you end up here? Give me a little bit of background. Tell me give me about two minutes. Deal about yourself. Herbie: Okay. No pressure. ⁓ mom and dad met in the Bronx. ⁓ my father had other siblings that moved out of the Bronx and moved into Hamilton. ⁓ my mom had mostly her family and moved back to Puerto Rico. And, after a while, mom was like, move out of the Bronx. Cause the Bronx was getting to be, you know, the Bronx. So, we had family members that lived in Hamilton township. Then ⁓ we, know, migrated there and then, another relative that lived out here in South Jersey and rested here and that's it. And kept on living in the world of South Jersey where everything closes early on Sunday instead of the, you know, not like the Bronx and everything. Shamus: It could be worse in the South. They don't sell alcohol on Sundays. So they don't know they do. Herbie: There is a was that that one place I think I forget I think it's like Chris field or something like that were Len and them have their house. There was actually a liquor store that was like a car wash machine place. So you can actually really drive through the car wash spot and they're like, all right, what you need and then just tell them what you want. And they just fill up your car with the beer and stuff like that. So it's like basically. Shamus: was a drive through ⁓ window that washed your car. Herbie: Yeah, they didn't wash the car, but that would have been cool, man. But yeah, I was just like enamored by it. Jesus Christ. Yeah, we got to bring it. We got it. I don't know if I don't know if it would fly well in Jersey, though. Maybe it's too much crazy people just. Shamus: I think we just came up with a million dollar idea. ⁓ You pull up you tell him I want the number three special and give me a case of course light and then when you're done somebody standing over the case of course light and just roll right through like when I'm automatic things and at the end some dude just hands you beer or liquor. Herbie: It's true. Yeah, as long as you get to pay first and all that crap and then like you get to that stage where you pick up your crap and get to get, you know, go home. That would be a idea. Oh, shark tank. Shamus: Not bad at all. So what is it you do for a living, Herb? Herbie: work in the food service department in the Memorial High. Oh, it's magical. get to drop off trays to patients, encounter everybody. Unfortunately, smell like a lot of body odors that I don't want to smell really when I'm trying to handle food. Shamus: How was that? That's gotta be it. Well, you probably meet a lot of cool people doing that though. I'm impatient-wise. Herbie: Yeah, a lot of doctors and everybody, know. Patient wise, mean, eh. You don't talk? I mean, I talk to them. I'm not really like, hey, here's your turkey sandwich. Tell me about your life. was there. You know, nothing like that. I'm just like, where's your turkey sandwich? Shamus: I can see you like walking into some 80 year old ladies room like, hey, what's up Herbie: I do walk into a room and they're already on the commode and I'm like, let me get I just just try to get out of quick I would just wish like it like in the cartoons like when there's like that that that smelly gas cloud with the angry face on it I wish it was that real so you can actually see that because when when you go in a room and you come across an odor You your first initial reaction is to like to hold your breath Yeah, exactly it stays right on your taste buds so you got about a good like being like holding your breath on surprise you got about 20 seconds Shamus: But you already got it in. Herbie: So you got the taste buds of the poo on your mouth and then you just got to try to be all happy and smiling and give them, give them their stuff and then try to get out of the room. And then you need at least two or three feet away from the room in order to draw in fresh air. And no matter how much bubble gum you have, it doesn't, it doesn't get that taste still stays in the mouth. Shamus: I mean, if you have gum in it, it's done. Herbie: ⁓ yeah. That is over. Yeah. Matter of fact, I should start doing that. Just start chewing gum before I go in there. Then this way I can just eject that, that gum that's over absorbed the, ⁓ the evil or not. Yeah. Yeah. It's challenging, but you know, Shamus: They were spreading horse manure on the soccer field behind the school where I work. ⁓ really? So I was walking out there the other day. had gum in. And by the time I got across the street, like, it was just like chewing on a piece of horse manure. Herbie: Yeah. Stays in your nose and stuff, everything too. It's like everything that just latches on to your nostrils and everything. I do. I'll say that. do. I'm sure like, you know, if everyone ever listens from work, they're like, ⁓ you said something bad about your job. ⁓ I really do love it. It's cool. I mean, like everybody else, you know, there's there's there's ups and downs and stuff. And sometimes you see some tragedy. Sometimes you see some beauty about like. people giving birth or actually some people overcoming like cancer or any type of like thing like that. You know, it's just something beautiful like that. And then sometimes, like I said, you do see some crazy stuff where you almost wish that you would go in there with a fold out chair and a case of beer. Just hang out in the yard and watch all the wackos go nuts, you know, especially during the full moon. It's like, Jesus Christ. It's great. Is that the thing? Oh, I wish you should. Matter of fact, I wouldn't I wouldn't mind doing something like that. Shamus: dated a couple nurses in my lifetime and every time if they are ER nurses and stuff and they're like, oh, it's the full moon. I'm like, and teachers do it too. Yeah. Like teachers will be like, oh, the kids are crazy. It's a full moon tonight. I'm like, what is what? Is this like a thing? Herbie: Yeah. Werewolves are real, bro. I'm telling you, there's Chupacabras, the werewolves, there's Creek angels. They're all real. That like these myths and legends that people that's based on fact. Shamus: So did it doesn't get weird or like we just had like the blood moon or something like that or Herbie: I mean, I see a bunch of goth chicks and stuff running around drinking tomato juice. Not really. Shamus: But I mean, the house was off the chain. Herbie: Yeah, but yeah, it's just, you know, just they do get crazy and stuff like loopy. Shamus: It's like I said, it's a hospital man. So yeah, no one second you got somebody dying on this floor in the next second, some kids being born. So it's a huge roller coaster ride. That's got to be pretty insane. Herbie: You ain't lying, brother. The ER thing wouldn't be a bad idea. Just hanging out there. Cause you like on a Friday night or something. ⁓ you will see the magic happen, man. ⁓ yeah. yeah. It's just like, just like the. ⁓ Shamus: Especially where you guys are looking. It's not the nicest thing. Herbie: Yeah, it's like the know, just the best talent of every area that you can muster is just like, you know, the all stars just show up to play, man. It's great. It's like an all star game on crack. Shamus: That's what's up. Well, to tell you a little bit about myself, I grew up in north northeast Philadelphia in a section called Huntington Park. And just like the boogie down Bronx, it was kind of turned into a war zone a bit. So my parents picked up and moved us to Riverside, New Jersey. And I lived there. I till 96 when I graduated high school from there. Joined the military, did five years there, then worked for the state and law enforcement. I just recently retired and now I'm working as a school cop at a local elementary middle school. Herbie: Your life sounds so much more interesting, man. I gotta start lying about your stuff, you know? I'm be like, ⁓ I was a ninja back from like 89 to like 93. Shamus: Yeah, I'll tell you what, though. It was a it's been a tough road, man. Like some of that stuff. Like you said, an ER room on a Friday night. Try working one of these prisons or being a cop on a Friday night. It is absolutely insane. And you see, like you said, you see the worst of people, you see the best in people. And then you just see the stuff in the middle of your list like, wow. I feel like, man, I wish I had some popcorn. Check this shit out. Yeah. So and even in some of these schools, like you'll see you're just kind of like like the the little kids like the Pre-K to like third grade are the most hysterical people on the planet. Herbie: Yeah, Larry, too, because. Shamus: the middle school guys are kind of like that. And once they get to high school, they just, know, they don't want anything to do with, you know, security guards or cops or anything like that. But like the little guys like latched like they're just like, it's a security guard. Right. No, it's like it's like the magic word on Pee Wee's Playhouse when I walk in. Some of them like it. Some don't like, know, so it's pretty cool, man. But like you said, it's it's a roller coaster ride at times. You know, like the military, the law enforcement of any kind. And then, you know, working at a school, it gets pretty wild, man. And it's not so much I do enjoy my job, but it's not so much the kids that are the problem as much as the parents. Yeah. And, you know, some of the staff you work with. So, I mean, you know how it is when people get close to retirement to just kind of give a shit. Yeah. But yeah, you're you're teaching fifth grade, dude. Like these kids need an education. You can't just turn it off your last two years. Like we had a dude and I'm not going to say your names, man. We were doing. ⁓ It's different from when we went to school because we used to just do fire drills. Everybody just sleep. And then most of the time, if it was a period when I was in high school, I would do some out. Yeah, like I'm not coming back. Everything's head counts. And now they have these lockdown drills or evacuation drills. We had like a lockdown drill, like an evacuation kind of deal. where they have to exit the building and everybody's got to be accounted for. Just stay, please there, you know, because there's no local police where I'm at. So we're all standing there, meaning the state police. They can't find what one kid just decided to. So they walk up to the teacher and just like, you got everybody and he's like, yeah, so we start count like, no, you don't. And he was just like, it's it's so and so and whatever. ⁓ is like. ⁓ Dude, you got 18 months left, but this could end your career. Where's this kid at? So he just doesn't care. It's pretty wild. And I'm sure you've seen that. Do doctors do that, dude? Herbie: No, haven't, like doctors and everybody like, especially like during COVID, you can actually see, cause I know before there was like that pretense like, ⁓ it's all fake and everything. But when you see professional doctors like concerned and nervous about how to take care of everything, that you realize how much of an impact that COVID really was. I mean, I know there's, there's so much more to it and stuff like that, but it was just like. going through something like that for like the past couple of years. was just like eye opening, you know what Cause like everyone else is going staying home and pretty much everyone else, the essential workers and stuff like that. Yeah. And also it's like, yeah, everyone, you know, goes to work and you know, like the rest of us got to go to work and everyone gets to like, you know, get to do that lockdown thing for like two weeks and build those little backyard bars with their neighbors and stuff. You know what I mean? Shamus: Yeah, I was a part of that. our friends built like giant oasis is what ground pools and stuff. Herbie: ⁓ yeah, but that was, that's already pre-planned. know, it was like during COVID, everyone's like trying to get all like artistic and creative, like building these little pop-up little bars and stuff like that. Yeah, true. Shamus: starting a podcast. That's where most of Yeah, I totally forgot that you were essential personnel. Like I totally got me. Nobody saw each other anyway. Like we didn't see each other. But yeah, I totally forgot. That must have been pretty crazy. I talked to a nurse friend of ours. Yeah. And she was like, I, yeah, I couldn't be within five miles of her because she was like, if you get it, yeah, I get it. I can't work. You can't work that. ⁓ And at the time my mom had cancer, so I couldn't. Yeah, it was pretty wild, man. Herbie: Same thing with me, because the last thing I want to do is bring anything home to my parents, especially my mom. I'd be pretty much like they were a little bit more cautious, but I was also I'm always like that doomsday prepper anyway. So every time there was something going on or something like that or like my opinions, I would go right to the boss and like, look, man, this is this food is going here. This they're storing the stuff here right next to this. Da da da da da. You know, so they were like. Shamus: could do the strip down thing outside and. Herbie: That's really some valid points. You know what I mean? Cause like, don't want any cross contamination, but not with just like food and stuff like that, but also the equipment and everything. So, you know, which is cool too. Cause my bosses will actually listen to me, know, even though as much of a doofus as I am, they'll be like, when I get serious there to go, I will, he may make some sense. You know, maybe she started doing that. Yeah. It's like good idea. being like, cool. You know, you can take the credit, but I want to bring. Shamus: Yeah, it's amazing what the higher, you know, the educated people and the people that are getting paid like hundreds of thousands of dollars of planet stuff miss or don't think of. And then when you do it, they're just like, yeah, good job. And then they go in the meeting and like, that's what I Herbie: Yeah, we just rolled out this new program like did you now did you just roll that out, buddy? I think that's why at times they try to do like those things where like, you know, like a business model or a company model where they actually get people from certain areas and in a certain like business set I need to like bring up topics in order to try to you know, find new ways to roll out new Projects or anything like that, you know, but then like if you come up with some truly good stuff You know, I'm sure they present that information to their big bosses and, I'm sure like, you know, everyone else's names are kind of left out of it. Like, so we rolled out a new program and like pretty much it was every like the little guys like us are. Yeah, yeah. That's it. You saw that you saw that. Shamus: or is your toothbrush? I know what's going on in that hospital. know a couple people up in there. Here's your toothbrush. Did you get it? Herbie: ⁓ yeah, that was like my first thing. was like, I'm getting the tooth. hell yeah. I I got them take a picture and everything, man. I was like, I'm being on the virtual line. Yeah, I'm like, I'm to be on there. I have like my toothbrush, my toothpaste, my three packets of ramen and my packet of gum. ⁓ large. ⁓ Shamus: So what? you were on the same podcast I was. Yeah. The new and exciting podcast with Andy, Dana and Jason. ⁓ And if listen is loves movies and loves to listen to reviews and stuff like that, give them a listen. They are absolutely at the top of their game. What they do. Yeah. What after, ⁓ I guess, a podcast with them? What made you want to do this or did you have any interest in doing this until you went there or? ⁓ Herbie: But like when you said let's do it, was like, you know me man. I'm like, if I hang out with, yeah, I'm like, let me hang out with Shamacy. I'm down with this. Yeah. There's so many things that like, really think that like, it's my friends are like, Hey, you want to do this? I'm like, okay. And I wound up doing it. You know, friends are like, Hey, you want to go to Germany? Yeah. You want to go to Japan? Yeah. You know, just like, just stuff in general. So I'm always like that guy that's like, I'm just thankful to be invited to stuff. And I'm just like, okay. Yeah, I'll do it. Shamus: Well, have you ever listened to any podcast before or? Herbie: Nah, just, you know, the Jason's and stuff, that was it, you know? Conversating with people and they're like, I'll just give this kid a mic, he's kind of weird and funny, Shamus: Okay. So it was just like, hey man, you want to do this? And you're like, yeah, sure. Yeah. No expectations, Herbie: I was just like, Seamus? Yes. Let's do this. Man, I was like, yeah, man. Shamus: I picked the right guy. Yeah. No, I went on there and like I said, I'm I'm a very curious kind of person. Yeah, I've always obviously, you know, I played in bands and stuff like that was drummer, a singer times. You would never know what the voice I'm carrying today. Those cats. ⁓ Herbie: Dick Nixon and the Thieves. Shamus: And I was always kind of curious about how certain things work when it comes to like the sound department and all that stuff. And, know, I'm one of those guys that looks on microphone and like, how does my voice going through here go travel through this wire into that board? And like it comes out to me, that's crazy. It's like not that it's magic. Like, I'm not that big of an idiot, but I'm just like, man, whoever thought of this shit. Yeah. But ⁓ when I walked down into, guess it's Andy's basement to the first podcast with them, like I sat down, excuse me. And it was just. Okay, here's your headphones. Here's a microphone. Just let it rip. And we got done and I was just, all right, are we doing another take? And they're like, what hell are talking about? was just like, that's it? They're just like, yeah, and like, boy, like you would have thought like you showed me fine. Like I was just kind of like, it's that easy? And they're like, And Andy was just like, well, if you had. Not that his stuff isn't on point, but he was just like, there's other stuff that make it so much more easier. So I in and I have a computer at my desk and I just kind of started researching it. And like the stuff that we're using, the road stuff is... It's literally just plugging the wall and anybody can do it, obviously, because I'm an idiot and we're doing this right now. Yeah. So awesome. Yeah. So after doing it with them I kind of thought about it. And then they had me on again. And I was like, yeah, this is this is kind of cool. I'm not looking to make millions off of this or doing that kind of crazy. What I want to do is. Like if you watch like the Joe Rogan podcast or listen to it or the Rich Eisen stuff, which is amazing, those guys are top of their game. Some of the guests they have, Rich Eisen, I think is outstanding. But they talk to people about, you know, celebrities, about their lives, what they do, know, like boxers, how they train, da da da. Well, nobody talks to like the blue collar guys, the guy who's... sucks the shit out of a port-a-john. Yeah. Or the guy who like you're walking out of your house, you hear a chainsaw and you look up and your neighbor hired a guy cutting down a tree. Like you don't, nobody ever talks to them dudes. Or like our buddy Steve, the guy prints junk mail. Yeah. Like the company model is, you know, from box to bucket, which means mailbox to recycle. Because everybody, as you're walking down the driveway, look at you just, it doesn't even make it in your house. Herbie: Yeah, so be nice to junk mail for Shamus: To me, that's fascinating. How is that an industry? Why are we printing this stuff if nobody's reading it? Like I read a stat and I'm not going to get into it because he'll be on with it. But like 97 or 98 percent of all junk mail doesn't even get read. So why are we doing it? And how is this guy made almost a career off? I can't wait to. That's the kind of stuff that hey, man, how do you get to that point in your life? How do you do that? Or why are you doing this? So hopefully we have a bunch of guests on that, you know, is intriguing and interesting. that we can act like people just like, yeah, Wow, that's pretty wild. That's how they do it or that is our boy. I never thought of that or, you know, that kind of thing. Herbie: want the blue collar people, like everyone that has like, cause if you really think about it, everybody out there, you all have a great story to tell. At least interesting. know sometimes people will say, ⁓ I don't really do much or whatever. Either you have a great story or you have a sad story or you have a funny story or something funny happened to you or something crazy happened here or that one time you're in Cancun with three of your buddies, you know, just any type of story like that. Or even like the job that like some people might take for granted. So it's just, it's something exciting to learn about really. You know, you don't know about anybody else's job or you don't really know about anybody else's especially now like people don't really take the time to talk to each other, you know, so Shamus: yeah, everything, I forget who I was talking to. It was last night we were at my buddy's 50th birthday party and we were just talking, we were talking actually about this podcast and like how people just, don't even, everybody just, I looked over at a table at this party and everybody had their heads down and they were texting and there was eight people at that table. You guys have nothing to talk about? Like you can't put your down to phones for a minute and just talk? Herbie: She's at a party, Shamus: like what the hell's going to adults? They're not kids. They're like people our age and stuff. And I was just kind of like, man, that is the craziest thing on the planet that and then I thought to myself, that's today's. So that's the conversation right there. That's yeah, it's great. Like, I hope they weren't texting each other because that would have been a little weird. But. They're all the same thing like nobody wants to look up or like, yeah, it's and I also want to talk to people about not just jobs, but like you said. Herbie: on the same group chat. Shamus: People are always on the computer. Like, I want to talk to people that spend hours on, what's it, Fortnite? Yeah. Like, what the hell is... I don't even know what it is or like, a friend of mine, she plays constantly and I'm going to try to get her on. She's has an apparently a TikTok or an Instagram where she plays live and people watch. Yeah. And I guess she can make money off. I'm like, to me that is... First of all, it's crazy that you're sitting in your house playing for hours on like I'd rather be out like today's the first really nice day we've had in a while. And it kind of makes me sad that we're sitting here doing a podcast. But the windows open. We're good. Yeah. But yeah. Like, how can you sit on your ass and play a video game for eight hours? And on the other end of that, how can you sit in a chair? Why? Like from miles, thousand miles away on your phone, watching somebody else play this game for eight hours? So we need to talk to them cats. Who are some of the other people like? We have my two buddies coming in who love wrestling, everything about wrestling. I loved it as a kid, but I haven't really found it. So we got to talk to them cats. Yeah, it's going on. Why they kept following it. Like a lot of us just kind of dropped like after the attitude area. I was done. But, you know, just stuff like that. ⁓ I'm just curious about everything. if anybody listening, whoever wants to, you know, sit down and give us a shout, I'm to set up an email address or probably even a webpage or something like that. And you guys can contact us and tell us your stories and stuff or tell us what you do for a living. If you got some off the wall job or something. Herbie: Stories are worth to be told, man. know? You're right. Like, stories are just worth to be told. know, just like, you know, life in general. You know, like you said, there's people that are watching, know, that people play video games. Shamus: Like this. I I don't want to bother the guy on a Sunday, but I was out this morning and I saw on the side of his car. He's one of those guys that you pay to pick up your dog. Yeah. So I got the number. We're going to see what get them on. Like, why did you start this business? Yeah, dude. I mean, you're like the Mr. Bob of dogs. Yeah. Like why? And is it that lucrative? Are you making the killing of this or he can. Herbie: Like a solid like a lot of people now they do stuff like side houses because you know like door dash and What is it the Uber Uber yeah, I would never be able to do uber I see so many damn like horror videos of people just going crazy and just try if I ever did it I would like almost make like it like a big bus with like that uh I wouldn't even do that man. Just a big bus and just have like you know like Shamus: Uber. an old police car. Herbie: the old inside almost ⁓ like that type of stuff you see inside like showers and stuff like that like type of spongy material this way in case people like puke they get crazy anything like that, ball of proof glass and stuff like that but still do like the separate thing because like you know taxi people were smart they have the goddamn shield behind them you know I just don't like seeing people you don't even know sitting behind you you know Shamus: And then God only knows what they're doing. They bust ass. They got a thing. That's why I got to get an old patrol car, man. Those seats are plastic. Like everything's like that hard molded plastic. So I mean, if they throw out like crack heads or whatever they throw up or they pull them out and they just hose it off, man. And they hit the drain plug and everything. You're good to go. Herbie: I would like to do like the party, cause you know, if I did, I would do it like here on Friday nights when everyone's partying. Cause that's when you know the magic happens when everyone's like tuned up, just going nuts. You know what mean? Shamus: Isn't that what Cash Cab was? Well, what was that show back in the day where they were picking up drunks and they were just video on them and they had to it was on an episode of two and a half men were Charlie and Alan. Herbie: I think he would actually ask them questions. He would like give them ask them questions. And of course he would like do the video but also like ⁓ Shamus: That was, that was cash cab or true cab confessions is what I'm thinking. Herbie: Yeah, on HBO. Yeah, that, yeah. Sometimes you'd be, ⁓ man, you'd see some crazy stuff in there, Especially now, man. Jesus Christ. Shamus: I can't imagine what somebody's ever gonna see. Like down at the shore in the summertime picking kids up? Nah. Herbie: Yeah, I couldn't do it. It'll just be shot, shot the hell up. Shamus: Now there's no way. And especially today, like the kids nowadays are 20, 21. can't Herbie: Jesus Christ. Shamus: Well, not really that, but just, we're not gonna get negative on the show. Herbie: Yeah, kids got a lot of growing up to do, you know. Shamus: I'm just going to say I never wore Ugg slippers to the gym. Worked out. And then as a guy next to you is like Ben over doing a barbell roll, you decide to kick your shoes off and start doing leg lifts where your feet are like two feet away from my I was so bad. I was like, I'm going to murder this kid. Herbie: I still don't get like the ones like they're really hot ones that were like the super tight outfits and then they're they're doing videos of themselves. But yet they're they're creeped out by dudes that are checking them out at the gym instead of like, you know, the ones that are like doing crazy stuff while they're watching that video. You know what mean? Cause they're getting all like the non lady like angles and stuff. I mean, you're never really going to take one of these influencers. Yeah. Jesus Christ. mean like, you know, I'm getting me wrong with it. Shamus: Getting the moves from that guy. I always tell people like people like, I like going to the mall and people watching or like going to the airport, watching people. don't know if you can do it the airport anymore because like security and stuff, but like people like, I love people watching. Go to a gym and watch some of these people. It is the funny. Some of these dudes. And like I said, I'm not a Donnis. I still look like 25 pounds of fucking cottage cheese shoved into a 10 pound bag. There's nothing I can do about it, no matter how much I work out. I'm getting stronger. I just can't get toner, but. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: If you just watch some of these people, I'm just shocked. Like it just I and you try not to laugh because when they look at you, like, yeah, now they're like, ⁓ I've been working out. I'll come over. I want to really. Herbie: Yeah. It's like, you know, it's like vanity, like everywhere is just like the me me attitude is like the phones like validated so much crap for people that are don't really accomplish much. So now they think it's everything is about them or even like when they go like I'm I'm a I'm a what the heck is that? When they eat food and stuff like that and their influencer to eat and then like in a restaurant and stuff. Shamus: Wow, what the hell are those people calling? Herbie: Yeah, like a food blogger or whatever. mean, it's still, mean, it's cool to like watch like what they're going to have you watch like a little bit or something like that or different places they go to, whatever. But, you know, you're not going to be like, uh, I'm a food critic on Yelp. You're in no position. Shamus: I love when you're sitting somewhere and somebody does that. They freak out. Like if you're there to pick up take out and something, then you walk into something and somebody's like, I'll tell you what, I believe in you. I'm not going to review one. You'll never, you'll never sell pizza. Herbie: ⁓ like everyone says so, so against bullying, but here we are. You got people bullying people's businesses and livelihoods and stuff. It's ⁓ just attempt to to get free food or just, just to be a ⁓ butt face, you which is unfortunate. Shamus: Sorry. It's just the way the world is nowadays. Herbie: Very contradictory. Like everyone has like, you everyone, especially when it talks about, this, my aura and you, you project great aura and all this. I'm like, none of you are benevolent beings, man. Like none of you have, have any inclination about any type of like spiritual awareness or anything like that, man. So it's just like. Shamus: And on top of it, you're not a good person either. Like, I don't. It's crazy, man. It's. We I watch this guy and it's never like one thing I'll never do is like the smaller guys who in there and they're, you know, they're trying to get stronger. So I never make fun of those guys. I I'm to laugh. So it's always the bigger dudes. It's always the guys that are already there and stuff and are like flexing in the mirror or, know, they think the gym is theirs because the biggest guy there and they want to do, you know, barbell. the bell calls right in front of the bar in front of the mirror. So nobody like the other day I had two dumbbells. I'm waiting to put them back because this butt face besides he wants to do curls right in front of me. And then after he got done, he went to stand there and look. I probably get that. You didn't grow it like you're not going to see that bump until about 20 minutes. then you walk in the locker room and there's like 15 teenagers in there and they all got their shirts off because they all weigh 135 pounds. Yeah. So if they. Herbie: see the pump going right now, I got the pump. Shamus: If they do two push ups, they look like they're Johnny Bravo. So they're all in the window and they're all just like, and I just got to I get to take my fat ass home and you're in the way. I to my locker. So I don't know. It's like you said, it's the whole tick tock thing and all that bullshit they create about beauty nowadays. And you don't know what's AI and what's not. And so. Herbie: Yeah. Like I said, like everything's contradictory. Everyone's like, don't make fun of it. Like, know, know, beauty's in the eye of the beholder. Don't make fun of people that aren't attractive. Everyone's beautiful and all that stuff. And then everyone else is like, well, I look great and everyone else is trash. I'm like, make up your minds. Are you a good person? Are you just like completely contradicting everything that all the, cause everyone has like all these key words that they say now, you know, like aura and stuff like you're not interesting for using the word aura. You know what Shamus: What was that movie? I see your oar, it's purr- purrple. Herbie: It's like, what the? I don't know. But you know, is this, that's why sometimes for me, it's like, kind of like grab it, like don't gravitate towards people like that. Or even like, you know, like I can understand like after a while, when you get a certain age, you kind of like just distance yourself from people. Cause they just become more, I don't know. It's just weird that people like, uh, they change their attitudes. Like very contradictory. Like they do, they want to be a good person, but they're actually a complete shit. You know what mean? Shamus: Yeah, I don't I don't I never thought it would hit our generation the way it has because like I pretty much grew up with stand up guys Herbie: Yeah, but so like the people that do that, the distance themselves from that type of environment, you know what mean? Like the type of people that are doing that stuff in the gym is like, people don't want to go to those or like, ⁓ know, other people, they just stay away from that. But other people that do that stuff and take pictures themselves at gym all the time and all that, cause they see that everyone else is doing it. in the damn, and the Tik Tok videos and all that stuff too. And then if you walk in front of their camera, they're looking at all indignant, like you, you ruined, they're, they're, they're fricking photo shoot and you're like, you're in a public space. This gym is not that very big. And you're posting with this, with, with a camera pod and lights and everything. Cause you know, back in the day, no one could actually, there was none of that stuff was around. Now we have, all you need is a damn phone and a pod and a little light bulb and Next thing you know, you got, you're doing your own photo shoot and everyone's a damn model. I'm like, no, you are not just like with this. If you really think about a podcast, like we, we can get the equipment and actually air this out. It's not like we got discovered, not like Howard Stern picked this up and said, Hey, you guys would actually be. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I Yeah. Shamus: You guys got talent. Yeah. Sign here. It's just a bunch of media that's going, That was pretty cool. Two guys said that. Like, hey, man, you want to podcast next week? Yeah. What are we going to talk about? Herbie: Yeah. Just hanging out, I mean I got a black and tan right here so I'm good to go man. A slice of pizza, this is perfect. A lot of people were like, what are you showing to be on? like, dude we're just gonna hang out like we normally do and just talk and bullshit and just come up with funny stuff. Shamus: Yeah, just talk to people, figure some stuff out. Like as a Gen Xer, I was always like, know, like the newer stuff. So like the Fortnite thing, I have no idea. So we'll have, you know, somebody come in and tell us about that or, know, ⁓ just stuff I'm interested in. Jay, he's into collecting autographs and, know, the whole movie scene So, you know, talk to him about that I'm just curious about a lot of stuff. ⁓ Herbie: He goes to lot of the conventions, so I mean he sees like a lot of actors and directors. It's cool man, because I used to go to them too. it's like that whole is a whole universe itself. It just opens up so much stuff. Shamus: Yeah, I went one time with a friend of mine. didn't feel comfortable going by herself. Somebody I worked with and we went because she wanted to be John Kuzak. And that was one of the funniest things I've ever been a part of because she totally wigged out. Like, he walked because she had like the VIP tickets and I wasn't there for this part of it. But she told me she and there was only like 10 people in the room. So he came down when you had the VIP thing. He came down and talked to everybody like. hung out with them for like an hour. And the whole time she just sat at the table like a chihuahua. Like she was just shaking, eyes big and just couldn't move. So at the end, he signed like anything you had with like up to 10 items. And she had like the say anything with him with the boom, like the movie poster and then she had some other stuff. And when she got up to him, she froze and he was just like. Are you? And she said he was the nicest guy like, hey, are you OK? Like that. And she was just like, yes. She was like, I was like three years old again. And he was just like, OK, you know what? I'll put your name on the page. Like, what do want me to sign this to? Or he was he was like, I'm a pretty little princess. And he was like, you want me to put that on here? And like they finally calmed her down enough. She's like, no, my name is and I'm not going to say what her name is. But you know, and he did that. They didn't do the photo op that night. So the next day was when it was Saturday. So that's when everybody's there Friday nights. Nobody's really there because it's like VIP stuff. So she's like, can you go with me? Because these people here and it is it was absolutely. Yeah. I mean, nicest crowd like nobody was a meal. But like you said, it was like Comic Con heart. Like everybody's dressed up. The one guy who plays. Jason Voorhees Kane hotter came walking through the crowd in great guy movie outfit. Yeah. He getting ready to pay scared to shit out of me because the way he moved like he moved like Jason in a movie and he's a big ass dude. And I was like, yeah, like I'm not small. That dude, I was like, ⁓ and like he gave me that look when he walked by, like he turned his shoulders like he did. And I was just like, ahead, Herbie: ⁓ he's a great guy too. Yeah. It's a yes over man. I'm not messing with Jason. Shamus: So we go back up to where John is for the photo thing. And she was like, I'm so embarrassed. Like, I don't even know if I to go in there. was like, you're probably not even going to recognize it. Don't worry. You know how many of these things he's probably done? Man, we walked in there. And as soon as the person in front of us got done, he turned. He said something to the photographer. He turned and his eyes got as big as that paper plate on my table, dude. Like he just. And he was like, it's my pretty little. princess and she was like, oh my god. He was like, come here. And like he totally remembered her and da da da. And like he usually does like, know how the celebrities are. They just stand next to you or, know, everybody does a thumbs up thing or every once in a while they'll put your arm like, dude, the picture she got with him looks like it was like they're on their honeymoon. Like he grabbed her and like held her all in and they're both like cheek to cheek. And he's all coolest dude on planet. It one of the coolest things I've ever seen. And as we are leaving, William Zapka who plays Johnny from ⁓ Karate Ken movie. This is before Cobra Kai even came out. It was like a year before that series started. He comes out of the side room because like usually like the A celebrities are up on not that Zapka at the time was Asian but like John Kuzak was up on off the floor like he was like third floor. He comes out of the side room because apparently they were doing a group photo with him ⁓ Ralph Maciel and Herbie: kid. Shamus: the sensei, John Kreese. ⁓ Well, that was done. So Kreese walks by me and I'm like, holy, and like, I'm not even, ⁓ my God, that's sensei. You know who that is? And she was like, ⁓ John Kreese. I'm like, right. Well, Williams Afkut comes out the room too. And apparently Ralph was doing single photos next. So he looks at like the first 30 people in this crowd and he's like, hey, are you guys in line for Ralph? And they're like, yeah. He was like, he loves it. when you ask him to do the crane kick pose, you know, go ahead and ask him to do that and he'll do it for you. He loves it. Nobody ever asked him to do it. You guys jerseys in the house. You guys are going to do it. So he leaves. So it's like an hour later. I'm downstairs talking to it. It's amazing. Some of the people you run into there. I'm talking to D.B. Sweeney. You know who that is? Yeah. He was a guy from Spawn. Yeah. He also paid the cutting edge. I'm just having a conversation with this dude. Like, because nobody's I guess he already did all the signings and stuff and he was just sitting at the table with and John Kreese was standing there. So we're Kicking it like I'm I was sitting there and he's a buddy was going on. Next night, Ralph Macho comes around the corner and he was just like, and you tell William the next time he tells these motherfuckers, do the crank. I've got something for you. He's always doing that shit. Herbie: you Shamus: So I was just like, what the hell is that about? And then Crease is like, We do this in every city. Either William does it I do it. We tell him to do the crane kick and stuff like that. And I was just like, oh, that rivalry was still going on. He looked at me, he was like, yeah, fuck Miyagi. Herbie: That's awesome. ⁓ Shamus: So, but I've never been back to one. I knew there was one this weekend. think that's where Jay was. And there was like the dude from Iron Maiden was there, the lead singer from Iron Maiden. Herbie: You're Sam? You'd be surprised everyone's there, man. It's nuts. Shamus: The chick from Karate Kid, Elizabeth Shoe, who's also in that the boys who, you know, she ended up getting killed. I think season four. All right. But ⁓ yes, she was there. There was like some big name people. Linda Hamilton from the Terminator movies there. So but you can't get near that place. Yeah, it is. Herbie: It's. You might as well just like, like the parking at that hotel is just like, you might as well just like just Uber in or something like that and just get dropped off. Shamus: And that's why we got to talk to Jay about it, because he probably he probably knows there's parking on the roof or something like that. he's probably. He probably rents a room next to like all these people and stuff. Herbie: There really is like that There's people that do they like, you know, they were like on the same floor and stuff like that. And, know, they even have like the VIP thing. like, like you said, like the night before they like, they get together like in the main ballroom and stuff like that and meet people and have drinks and stuff like that. So it's like, Jesus Christ, it's one big party. I'm like, God damn. Shamus: That'd be pretty cool. Yeah. I can't imagine what a room calls. We'll have to ask Jay when we get there. Herbie: Cause you know, did this, I've been to monster monster monster con a couple of times already and I love it too. And matter of fact, Bobby took a, ⁓ Connor to meet a Robert Englund. Yeah, it was a couple of years back and it was just, it was just mobbed. It's like all those things are always mobbed. Even like I've been to the New York Comic Con. I've been to the wizard con and stuff like that. They're just. Shamus: Freddie? would love to go to the San Diego comp. it room 8 or something like that call it? Where the big movie is? Herbie: Yeah, that's the mecha right there, man. Yeah, but to be honest though, for me, like, I would say the horror commons are like my favorite because, you know, like, like you said, Kane Otter and stuff like that. was like in the Jason costume, you know, and as much as I was super hyped when I met Lou Skywalker and everything, dude, like, you know, they're just like wearing like regular clothes and stuff like that. I would just love to see costumes. you know, like them were in the costumes. Cause like the first time I went, went with my friends, Brittany and Carrie, and they know how excited I get, how much doofy I get over star Wars. So they're like, herbie, just like, we're going up there now. So just don't flip out. Cause you know, you know how I get all energetic. I'm jumping around and you're like, Oh my God, this is great. They're like, all right, we don't want to get kicked out. So just chill out. So we're going up the escalator and the very first thing I see is this dude in a Chewbacca costume and he's like, I was like, so I had my geek out moment right then and there. And then as soon as I got through the doors and everything, I was like, all right, calm down, dude. You do not want to be kicked out. You know, I wouldn't do anything crazy, but just like, you know, the amount of energy that probably do calm down, man, relax. Just, know, go sit down, you know, you'll be all right. Shamus: Yeah, it's like I said, I think I did go to another one. But we'll talk about that with Jason, because I think he was actually at the one I was at too. I mean, he's at all of them. So he actually texted me when I was there. But like I said, it was so crowded because I think I do have a picture with the two guys from the Sons of Anarchy. And I'll tell you that story next because the Mexican guy who plays the leader of the Marines, Emilio Rivera, funniest dude on the planet. Herbie: That's actually another person we can have too, my buddy Brett, because he actually did the tattoos. He owns ⁓ two tattoo shops around here and he's also done the tattoos for the guys from Son of the Meraki. Shamus: No kidding. Yeah. ⁓ we definitely have to have him on there. Is he on one is does he own one up on 70 the sacred crow or whatever it is. Herbie: He's got, he's got one, uh, it's tattooing body art. He's got two of them. One's in Wright's town and one's in country lakes, like right next to the country lakes pub. Yeah. He's doing really well too. And he just got married. So congratulations for it. You're great. And, um, yeah, but he's, know, he's always, and he goes to the cons. does like, you know, tattoos and stuff like that. So I've been to a couple of cons. So I go and see his booth and all that stuff. And he's just doing great. Shamus: Okay. Congratulations. We've been known to have two conventions. Herbie: I went to like his like everything now, like, you know, with the Comic Cons and all that stuff, like the tattoos and stuff are being popular with everybody else. So, know, and he's in the like, you know, he's he's in the comics and everything like us, too. OK. I mean, if you ever see his story, it looks like a like my dream toy store, but it's a tattoo shop. He's got like a four foot tall skeletor from like the old toy line. Really? Yeah, it's dude. It's like Beyond Dope. Shamus: Do you know they're rebooting that? Herbie: Yeah. It doesn't look, but it doesn't look, it doesn't look bad. I don't want to get super nuts, but. Shamus: Have you ever, do you follow that guy? Do you have Instagram? Yeah. Do you follow that guy, Isaac Wells? No. Who does the voice, like he, I'll show it to you when we're done. He does, I don't know how he got the rights to it, but he does the cartoon version, the 80s cartoon version. Yes. Herbie: No. Is that the one where he's like, and remember. OK, yeah. Shamus: There's some of the stuff that he tells you, like he gives you life advice, but he says, get my bad bad. food comes and goes through a hole in your body. It's like ⁓ what? I hope we don't. I do. We love you. Don't I don't that's not copyrighted. I hope Herbie: Till next time! that's true. Yeah, please. ⁓ we just we don't we don't ⁓ Shamus: We're just showing love brother. But yeah, when I saw that the Heman thing was getting rebooted and I was just ringing and I hope it's not the Dolph Lundgren. Like, please be better than a Dolph Lundgren version. I'm going to die. That was horrible. Herbie: I'll still watch it if it's on. For me, it's like campy and there's lines in there that is completely quotable, but the sets themselves were gorgeous. Shamus: Well, that's when you actually had to build a set and was it just green screen or I'll give them credit for that. But yeah, nowadays it's just kind of like, all right, well, we're going to we're going to tape New York City here in Arizona. So throw the green screen up. Add the skyscrapers and action. Yep. It's kind of getting like podcasting. Yeah. Anybody could shoot a movie now. I think Apple has like this thing on their phone where you can do your own movies and stuff. Herbie: Wouldn't be a bad idea, pork or leg in cheese movie. And Chi Chin Cheung did it. Shamus: Dave wants us to do video, so maybe. Maybe we'll do the pork roll egg and cheese movie. ⁓ my God. Pork roll egg and cheese. We are so far from that right now. Herbie: Yeah, okay, I'm down. Jersey, I don't know, man, we could do like a quick like half hour out of nose like indie film. You know what mean? Like, come on. We we have the technology, we can build it. Shamus: Hey, if the Jerky Boy's got a movie, why can't us, you know? Oh, they're also doing. Did you see this? They're doing attack of the killer tomatoes like that's getting rebooted. So did they ever do a part two of that or was it? Yes. OK. I know there was a cartoon at one point. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't know they did it, too, but they said, yeah, oh, yeah. And I think they said attack was a killer clowns from outer space. Revisited nothing's in stone, but they said to revisiting a lot of that stuff. Herbie: They should leave that alone, It's, you know what it is, like, it's such a cult following, you know? And it's just... They're bringing back everything, man. Shamus: Well, as I said, they must be running out of ideas in every aspect of life because not only because I guess because of the whole exciting a new podcast with Jane, Jason and Andy, ⁓ my algorithm comes up with a lot of movie stuff now and it's a lot of, you know, reboots of that. But then it's also video games like Def Jam, like the fight, the street fight game. Yeah. They're revamping that. They're bringing that back. ⁓ The new PlayStation. I think it's a new PlayStation. If you still have your old games, think they're setting it up where you can drop your PlayStation one game in there and I guess they're just running out of ideas. So, OK, play your old stuff. It's crazy. But I mean, it's like that with fashion, too. ⁓ yeah. Kids are walking around with the buying Bosworth and the gummies and ⁓ ripped up as a wash jeans. Yeah. Like one kid had a mullet the other day. I'm like, what the hell is that? Yeah. Wow. Herbie: Yeah. Yeah, well, everything comes back, man. It's just, know, because if you really think about it, like any every 20 years or so would be considered a generation. like these people weren't even really around. They're like, for example, like people in their 20s, you can mention like Teletubbies and all that stuff. Oh, my God. That's from my childhood. You mentioned like Voltron. They're like, who? Oh, man. Shamus: Making that movie too. You're making that. like I said, the mustache is back. Nobody had a mustache like goatees kind of went out at the end of 2010. Like everybody's cleanly shaving and now all beards. Yeah, beards are huge. Then Top Gun Maver came out and everybody's got them shitty little mustaches. Herbie: Yeah. I remember like everyone had the Caesar cut too. was like, Jesus Christ. Everyone looks like Eminem. Shamus: ⁓ that or the Bieber for a minute. Everybody had to have a look. Where their left eye was covered or right eye. Herbie: ⁓ that's like, baby, like ⁓ god. I'm like good for him though, you know, but I'm like Jesus Christ really Shamus: Yeah, that was. Herbie: Sidebar though, but like I hope Ariana Grande actually gets some more weight to her man. She is like thinning out. I'm like what the hell is going on? Shamus: Have seen Kelly Osborne? Yeah. Somebody needs to throw her a fucking sandwich. Really? Yeah, it's dude. She looks sick. She's a skeleton wrapped in like white hockey tape. ⁓ God. It's bad compared to what she used to look like. It's like you got to find an equal like you got to find middle ground there, honey. Like that does not look like I don't know who area on the ground is. I have no idea who that is. ⁓ But I imagine if she looks anything like Kelly Osborne, it's it's bad, man. Herbie: Well, after all. Yeah, it's, you know. guess, well, actually, know, because the passing of Ozzy too, so that might have been a factor too. Although like, no Ozzy passing away and something, you know, that's still like, even though I'm sure they're like, you know, it's hard. Shamus: I don't think it's drugs, think... ⁓ absolutely. Like I said, I lost my dad. was tough. Still is. Herbie: Yeah. My buddy was actually at the last concert in Birmingham. was awesome. Jason Momoa was in the mosh pit and everything. was like, that would be like the one, if I never went to another concert again, like that one would be like. Shamus: Yeah, you told me that. ⁓ that would be it. You can't top that. Yeah. After you go to that, you're just kind like, yeah, well, my country career is over. But I've been to the pinnacle. Yeah, I've looked down on the valley. Herbie: Yep. Unless ZEP comes back, then I'll like, all right. That's true. Shamus: Let's throw it up on them. Yeah, I don't think I'd go to another concert after that. I read somewhere, which is shocking. And I'm so happy that for the first time in I can't even tell you how long, like since hip hop started, no hip hop or rap song is in the top 100 right now. It's dying because all that mumble rap crap. Herbie: Really? Well yeah, that's- Yeah, it's just- Same shit, man, it's like what the hell? Even like the old school stuff is just like, it still hits! Shamus: ⁓ yeah, you can't tell me a lesson unless it's like LL Tupac DMX like that error or like eighties nineties and like early 2000. I don't want to it. J. Yeah. No, it's Hoover. Other than that, like all this like everybody's little little baby, little rattle, little rocket. Yeah. Herbie: Yeah, biggie. Little dip shit. Shamus: Little unemployed now. Yeah. But I guess like we said, with technology, Paki, everybody's got a studio and everybody can. ⁓ yeah. thinks they can rap and yeah. But like in our day, it was a sunset strip. Yeah. You some of them hair metal bands took off and anybody would goddamn a bottle of Aquanet and could play three chords that were just like sign them. Yeah. Herbie: You know, with their little demo tapes, man. Like, that's when you actually had to earn it. Now all you have to is just post yourself. That's it. Shamus: the market always over saturates and then when it dies, it just dies. And then like you said, it always comes back again. Herbie: Yeah. Find a new gimmick or something, you know Like you're not gonna miss when all this other weird gimmicky stuff is done At least for the time being because you know, of course it'll be revamped and come back Shamus: Yeah, it'll put a spin on it. Herbie: Yeah, now. Like you said with the movies and everything, it's just like Hollywood has no ideas anymore. I mean, they already like went through Stephen King's all of his books and stuff. Like every other comic book line that came out. Like I think that like the comic, without the exception of Doomsday coming out, I think after that, that might not, you know. jumpstart like the comic book movies for a while except you know Tom Holland doing Spider-Man but that that might fizzle out after like two more movies and then it just Shamus: That's another thing they over saturated that so yeah, there were certain guys like you could follow all the Avengers. Mm-hmm, but like I really don't give a shit about ⁓ What was the one the non heroes the nine vendors like all of the Not a gargoyle galaxy was pretty good, but I never read those books the one with the Russian guy with the red star What the hell are they called? Herbie: Okay. ⁓ Jesus Christ actually it wasn't even like the original of that guy the red star guy is actually because of the the crimp like the crimson Shamus: bolts or something like that or bolts. Who are they? Like, why are we watching it? Why is this a movie? ⁓ Herbie: It's basically Marvel's answer to the Suicide Squad, know, but like in the comic book wise. Yeah, but what I'm saying is... was a Soviet team that like in the Marvel comics was a Soviet and that Crimson Guy was on there. Shamus: Well, I'm just saying they oversaturate like I don't give a shit about that. Give me, you know, Iron Man, like a Thor movie or something like that. I don't care about that. Or like I love Brie Larson. She was cute as Captain Marvel. But the one where she had the two other girls with her and stuff like that, like why? What have we done? And go back to short hair. I like to show her. Yeah, I'm looking forward to do say I haven't watched. I don't think besides any Spider-Man movie. Herbie: Yeah. Yeah, was just, I don't know. Shamus: Like when they killed Tony, I was, or when he killed his character off, I was like, yeah, I'm done. I'm good. I don't need to say anything else. Herbie: I think that pretty much, I gotta be honest, pretty much marked it. Cause like the ones that came out afterwards were like... Shamus: I mean, you must have been doing pretty bad to have to bring him back is So and I was was really upset about that. Herbie: Cause like, you know, it got to the point where people are watching the Marvel movies like, right, well what happened with the, you know, the extra scene at the very end and stuff like that to hint like what else is going on? Cause yeah, like the interest wasn't really there. You know, like it wasn't really big hits except for like the Spider-Man movies. Like Tom Holland does a great job of Spider-Man, but yeah. And, and, um, Thor does cool, but like, you know, sometimes yeah. Shamus: He does better in a group. Like his comedic style is better. Herbie: But like that's why it's like sometimes you don't want too much comedy for that. You're like dude. You're the god of thunder man. You don't have to be too funny. Just like whoop arse. That's it. Shamus: I thought it was great when he was fat. Herbie: That was great. But like I said, that movie too was just like an amalgam of like everybody was in it. You know what mean? So was just like just enough screen time for everybody. You know what I mean? Shamus: don't know how they're gonna pull it off this time because everybody, I mean, the X-Men are in it, like everybody's in this movie. I think we're the only two people not gonna be on set at one point. But yeah, I'm, I don't know, man. They don't have an original idea. I don't know what they're gonna do after Doomsday. Herbie: Yeah. If you really think about it too man, like even in every Marvel movie there's these one actor that's played like five different characters in like Marvel and DC Shamus: Yeah, Deadpool is going to be they said, Ryan Reynolds is going to be in. Yeah. Well, that's great. He's played Green Arrow and then Henry Cavarov. What's he play? The guy played Superman. He's going to play something. Herbie: gonna do. I think I well some people are saying he might do Voltron or something like that. Shamus: That's why I got it confused then. But there is, yeah, there's a couple of people that go back and forth between Marvel and DC and I don't know, I can't keep up. I don't think I've watched it's like I said, besides Spider-Man, I don't think I've watched anything since Endgame. Herbie: Yeah. The animated ones like the spider-verse was really interesting too. Those were good. Shamus: Well, is it Nicholas Cage, Don't Spire New War? That I would like to see. Herbie: Yes. Yeah, that would be like something worth like any edit that I can be honest dude, any Nick Cage movie I'll watch. I might not rush out to the movie theater. Shamus: bring him back as Ghost Rider for Doomsday. Herbie: Yeah, Ghost Rider itself was a cool character. I think just think like in those movies like his villains like sucked. Shamus: Well, definitely in the first one. The second one, I thought visually was amazing. Like I was just like, dude, yeah. How bad is that? Yeah. Herbie: Pretty much it was like the whole the whole budget was like just on like the him and the motorcycle everything, you know, it's just everything else is like Shamus: you always see him at night, but in that movie, you saw him during the day, like ripping up the road off flame. I was just like, dude, that is crazy. Yeah, I would love love like that. Herbie: He's a cool character too. it's like, you know, like I said, Nick cage, I don't, I don't care what the hell he's in. Like there's so many weird movies that, that he's done that I watch and I love. Shamus: Have you seen the movie where he plays himself? You haven't seen that? I think it's something like the inevitable task of being Nicolas Cage. No, but in the movies, Nick Cage, it's all it was him and the guy from Narcos. This guy and they go down there smoke weed like I'll give you the premise. I'm not going to give you the whole thing. ⁓ Apparently he's Nicolas Cage and he can't find a movie and ⁓ but there's this like I don't know if he's a cartel guy or whatever. Herbie: No. No! How great is that? Shamus: But like, there's this Mexican guy who's like his biggest fan and he's rich. So he flies Nick Cage down for his birthday party. And as Nick's walking through his mansion, like he's got the gun from now face off to two guns from face. Really? Like he's got like all these movie props from his movie. I think he even has to go on a 60 second car. And he was just like, dude, he was like, I'm a huge fan here. And they just party and get like all kinds of like. Herbie: face. Shamus: Adventure and dude, it's it's actually I was like, man, I'm a huge Nick Cage fan. Yeah, and I thought that movie was amazing. Yeah, that's you have to check it out. I forget what it's called. That's a great day. Herbie: Yeah, Because I like, you know, like the well, the ones I watched like Willy's Wonderland, like he doesn't talk in it whatsoever. And he's in them. It's great. It's like him fighting these demon possessed and like satanic animatronic. Like animals and stuff, dude, it's like, you know, Chuck E. Cheese went to hell and he's like the janitor. Oh, it's great. I to say it's I'm going to say it's better than that. Shamus: off of Five Nights at Freddy's. Okay, I've never seen either one of them, Herbie: Yeah, I didn't watch the other, you know, Five Nights at Freddy, I'm like, ⁓ Yeah, that you ever see Mandy that he did? Dude, that is just nuts. Shamus: Drive angry was pretty good. No. There's there's like. From either Conair and going to 60 seconds up until like just recently, like that whole span in the middle. Yeah, I kind of missed because like he was doing like what was the one knowing where he was like the psychic guy and then he did the one where he was a ninja or some shit like that, where he was in Japan hunting the ninjas or something like that. Herbie: I gotta find that one, man. Yeah, dude, like I saw like. Shamus: Yeah, I figured that'd be right up your alley. You did Pig like that movie Pig or something like that or. Herbie: I know he did Long Legs. That actually got a good review and stuff like that, because he was like a satanic serial killer. they kind of messed, you know, did the makeup on him and stuff like that. But he also did Colorado Space, which I thought was really good. Mandy, and that one's just like a trippy movie. And I forget the name of the one that he did, but it's also, it's like, I think it's called Parents or Parenthood or something like that, where it's like the parents... There's a signal on the TV where all the parents just have this natural instinct to want to kill their kids. And it's just, it's crazy. Yeah, dude, you're like, what the hell? You know, it's like, like, that's what I'm saying is like, you know, Nick Cage is just like over the top with stuff anyway. And I just love the way he does stuff. And like, that was like those series of movies where it's just like. Shamus: Sounds a bit... Herbie: Like it's one of those movies you want to have a couple of beers with your friends and just sit down and watch. You don't want to know anything about the movie before. Just watch and ever, just, just have it like the dudes just sit there. Not that, not that one. There's like, what's happening now? What's happening now? I don't understand this. Like, shut up, just shut up. Watch the movie. Cause we don't know either. No, I hate those people. can't watch movies with people like that, man. You're like, what's happening? Like, I don't know. Do you know why? Why? I don't know. Because I've never seen this goddamn movie. If you shut up, the movie will explain it to you later. Shamus: I love when they ask you, what did they just say? And then you turn and the movie keeps going. So you turn and go, he just said that he loved her, but he doesn't know if he really, really loves her. OK, what did you say now? I don't know. I was telling you what he said before that. Yeah. Now I missed the part. Shit. And then you turn and you look at the guy next to you and he was like, will you shut the fuck up? Yeah, I got it. Yeah. Herbie: You know what I mean? Ugh. Can't do it. Shamus: And it's always the movies they drag you to. I was like, want to see this shit. Herbie: Ladies and gentlemen, know it sounds like we're like harping on like certain, like the opposite sex and stuff like that, but unfortunately these are some of the things that we actually go through. It just naturally evolved into. Shamus: What's happening with guys? Like, know, a group of dudes would go to a movie and I'm like, why the fuck are we going? Herbie: I mean, I don't really hang out with dudes like that though, man. We just watched the movie. Matter of fact, I remember like, what was it years ago? Cause I never watched the 40 year old 40 year old Virgin. So you and Bobby had me over at the house and you're like, all right, let's why you gotta watch this movie. And you guys were behind me waiting for me to like place a bet and see if I could like identify like all the action figures and all that stuff. ⁓ Shamus: ⁓ my god. Herbie: That was hilarious because was like, you were like, watch, was watching the movie and you guys were like sitting behind me and I just see you guys like, just like laughing and like changing money and shit like that. Cause pretty much like that, first five minutes of like the 40 year old version was actually like my life in like the twenties and stuff. You know what mean? ⁓ Shamus: I'll tell you that we're at a I should should have got a picture of him last night. I'm at this 50th birthday party, dude. And I I swear to God, like I almost I looked over and I I flashed back to like when I was like three or four years old because it was a little bit before my time. There was this dude bald head, big eyebrows that came out like this with the dude look like Ming from really flash Gordon. I would to the point where I like I was just like, holy, holy. Herbie: It's Shamus: What is Ming doing here? my one buddy's like, and like you said, we talked before the podcast about how like you made a comment to somebody at work and they weren't old enough to get the joke because it wasn't before. This kid sitting next to me was like 42. He's like, what the hell are you talking about? Oh my And of course, my buddy kind of recovered, like not recovered it, but he just kind of like ever see Ted, the movie Ted Ming and he like, oh, he didn't know it Flash Gordon. remember the Herbie: Man Shamus: But like we were all like everybody when they all saw it they were like, holy smoke dude, like all he needed was like the out dude. I was like, man, that is crazy. And then of course, me being the guy, I'm like that dude married. How much ass do you get like looking like that? Like, dude, chicks come up to you like you're like, ⁓ my God, you're Ming. Ming dick. Herbie: And the ring? That is a great flick, man. don't care. I am Ming the Merciless. Shamus: Be merciless with it. Herbie: King of the land of Mongo Shamus: course my buddy's like, don't know if she's my, I know. I said, well I'm not getting any like this. I mean, he can't be getting any like that. Herbie: I don't know, You never know, man. People got some weird taste, man. Shamus: Yeah, like at the MonsterCon thing, I'm sure them celebrities get stalked all the time. Yeah. Even the beadless people. Coolest shirt I've ever seen, we gotta start wrapping this up in a minute. Coolest shirt I've ever seen was at a MonsterCon. They have all them vendors. And of course you can't stop because it's just, you everybody's pushing. If I could have stopped, I'd have got it. It was a picture of Wilford Brimley. it was just his face in the middle. And above it it said, eat shit. And on the bottom it said, end diabetes. I was crying, dude. I would have loved to have that shirt. Eat shit and diabetes. Herbie: Diabetes. Shamus: And of course, that's a joke. Anybody under like listeners probably won't get unless they're at least 45 years old. Herbie: Half the time now it's almost like the only way is like if it's like a what the heck is that? on the internet is just like that quick post or whatever the heck. God. Shamus: Quick post. Herbie: you like when they did that they just do that that one quote he's like diabetes you know just like that just that quick a quick flag yeah and it's just sitting there just looking sad as anything like diabetes Shamus: a short for all you young kids out there. it. Herbie: Yeah, well I mean you know like everyone's just like scrolling through everything you're gonna run into like one of those things where you're just gonna say diabetes So like ⁓ that's what those guys are talking about His movies though that guy was actually pretty cool Shamus: I that was a great I that. I laugh for a good 50. I thought that was the greatest thing I've ever seen. Eat shit. Like when you see the face, you put the yeah, they eat shit. I thought that was awesome. Herbie: HETA meters. A meme. That's what I'm saying. yes. Yes. Sorry. Yeah, yeah, like the memes and stuff like that, because like memes are just like being, you know, dished out like a like a machine gun. Shamus: I thought you meant like an actual short video. Well, it's like you said, I like the ones where it's got a picture of, you know, somebody like Clint Eastwood. And as you're reading it, you're reading it as Clint Eastwood or Morgan Freeman or Sam Elliott. Like, yeah. And the beam will say you're reading this in my voice. Yeah. It's like, yeah. ⁓ but like the Wilford Brimley things are definitely the same kind of deal. So all right. I guess we can wrap this up since we talked about absolutely nothing we wanted to accomplish today. Yep. ⁓ Herbie: I am, dude. ⁓ Good talk. Shamus: Yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun. ⁓ If you're still listening, we appreciate you being here. It's like I said, our goal is to just have a good time and see if we can find out some information, talk to some pretty cool people about what they do, their jobs, their hobbies that nobody really knows too much about. And with that, we're gonna get up out of here. Herb, thanks for coming by. Anytime, man. All right, everybody have a good night. We'll catch you later.
