- 0:04My name is Victor Furman. Some call me the Voice. I've always been
- 0:10fascinated with human nature, spirituality, science and the crossroads at which they meet.
- 0:17Join me now and we will explore these topics and so much more with
- 0:22fascinating guests, authors and experts who will guide us to Destination Unlimited. What
- 0:34may humanity learn from the near death experience that transcends the historical, scientific,
- 0:42medical, religious, and philosophical aspects of the NDE. My guest this week
- 0:50on Destination Unlimited, Douglas Hodgson, studied and collated more than five hundred and
- 0:56DEE accounts, identifying the common observations and insights drawn from them. Douglas Hodgson
- 1:03is a former dean and professor of law currently residing in Perth, Western Australia.
- 1:08After retiring from his academic career, he began a personal study of comparative
- 1:14religions and spiritual traditions that sparked his interest in the NDE. He joins me
- 1:22this week to share his new groundbreaking book on ND's spiritual revelations from Beyond the
- 1:29Veil, What humanity can learn from the Near Death Experience. Please join me
- 1:36in welcoming to Destination Unlimited. Douglas Hodgson. Welcome Douglas, Thank you,
- 1:42Victor, thank you very much for having me on your program to share my
- 1:46research findings with you and your listeners. Please share with our listeners your early
- 1:52path legal scholarship and how it led to your thirty five year career in higher
- 1:57education in Canada, Australia and New Zealand as a teacher, researcher, scholar,
- 2:04human rights advocate and university administrator lector. I'm a Canadian Australian dual citizen
- 2:13and in nineteen eighty three I emigrated to Australia and took up a career in
- 2:19higher education and I spent thirty five years in the university sector. And I
- 2:25particularly was interested in researching the international human rights of children, and that led
- 2:34me to publish a number of books and treatises on human rights, individual duty,
- 2:40within the human rights discourse, to human rights, to education, and
- 2:46the international human rights and justice. And I've also specialized in the law of
- 2:52causation on the civil law side of things. And I also spent some time
- 2:58as a dean and a university administrator. But after some thirty five years I
- 3:05retired at the beginning of twenty eighteen, and for the first time in my
- 3:09life, I found myself with plenty of time to do bobby and leisure reading.
- 3:16Tell us about that law of causation? What is that about? Well,
- 3:22I specialized on the topic of intervening causation, not your typical treatise on
- 3:29causation, and very few people had written on it. So I looked at
- 3:35the topic of intervening causation and it was written more for my students than anything
- 3:40else, because intervening causation is a very difficult concept for law students to understand.
- 3:50Can you give us for us no law students, just a quick example.
- 3:55Well, when event A happens, which could lead to damage to a
- 4:02third party, and after event A occurs, event B happens, which either
- 4:13adds to the harm suffered by the third party or completely overwhelms event A.
- 4:19And it's an apportionment of legal liability. Should both events A and B be
- 4:27held legally accountable for the damage suffered by the victim? Or is event be
- 4:32totally supervening in the sense that event A is not legally responsible and event B
- 4:40is totally responsible for the damage typically in a car accident. So that's a
- 4:46very basic example. So the lesson learned is don't allow event A or B
- 4:53to take place to begin with, that's right out of prevention is worth a
- 4:58pound of cure. As they say, your book, prior to your latest
- 5:01book, Spiritual Revelations from Beyond the Veil, was last year's Transcendental Spirituality,
- 5:08Wisdom and Virtue, The Divine Virtues and Treasures of the Heart. What inspired
- 5:14that book and what did you share with your readers. Well, I've had
- 5:18a long held interest in comparative religion. I believe that there are many pathways
- 5:27to God. And I looked at twelve of the mainstream world religions, the
- 5:32Abrahamic religions today is some Christianity and Islam, Bahai and Zoroastriism from the Middle
- 5:42East. I looked at the Eastern religions and philosophies from India, Hinduism and
- 5:48Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism China. I looked at Confucianism and Taoism and Shintuism
- 5:58from Japan. And I distilled some thirty six universal ethical principles or what I
- 6:08call divine virtues. And I had a chapter devoted in this book to each
- 6:16of these divine virtues, with a forward in each chapter or a commentary explaining
- 6:24the nature of the divine virtue, followed by supporting scriptural references from these twelve
- 6:31world religions. And it was meant to be a daily spiritual guide in order
- 6:38to spiritually elevate our soul consciousness and to point out to us in our daily
- 6:46lives where we could do better by following these divine virtues. I had the
- 6:53blessing of attending an organization known as the New Seminary in the nineteen nineties.
- 6:58It was one of the world's first interfaith seminaries, and one of the lessons
- 7:02that I learned back then was that in virtually every faith and every religion,
- 7:09there is some iteration of the golden rule. Do unto others as you'd have
- 7:13them do unto you, Love thy neighbor as thyself. Can you imagine if
- 7:15everyone embraced that and let everything else go. That's absolutely right, Victor.
- 7:20In fact, I have a chapter on the so called Golden rule, and
- 7:26jumping forward to my current book, one of the near death experiencers, and
- 7:31I'm paraphrasing here, said that all religions are merely vain attempts to articulate one
- 7:39simple rule, and that is the golden rule. Do unto others as you
- 7:45would have them do unto you. Absolutely, what a world this would be
- 7:49if we all followed that one rule, that simple rule, Amen, Amen
- 7:55is correct. How did transcendental spirituality, wisdom and virtue spark your interest in
- 8:01what doctor Raymond Moody called the NDE near death experience? Well, Victor,
- 8:07I have to back up here. In nineteen ninety, when I was working
- 8:11as a legal academic, I plucked out a book from the university library called
- 8:20Life After Life by doctor Raymond Moody that was a previous edition and I read
- 8:26it from cover to cover and was absolutely fascinated by what I read. But
- 8:33being a busy academic, I had very little time for leisure or hobby reading.
- 8:39But when I retired at the beginning of twenty eighteen, I went back
- 8:45to the near death experience and I began reading another book by doctor Aban Alexander
- 8:52called Proof of Heaven, A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife, And once again
- 8:58that kindled my interest in my awe and fascination with the so called nd and
- 9:07at that point I began looking at the website of the International Association for Near
- 9:13Death Studies, the acronym EANs, and I combed through their archives and I
- 9:22started reading the individual written accounts of those people who have undergone an nd Some
- 9:30of the accounts were quite sure, others were quite lengthy. But after a
- 9:35while I detected that the Indie ears were essentially saying the same things and presenting
- 9:43the same messaging themes, using slightly different wording and nuances. So, being
- 9:52a good university academic, I started making copious notes, and I began collating
- 10:00the information and the messaging under discrete chapter headings. But at that point I
- 10:05wasn't quite sure whether there was still a book in this or not. But
- 10:09what clinched it for me, what the light bulb moment was for me,
- 10:15was that in a number of cases, the light or the being of light
- 10:22told the nd ear, you must return to your earthly life. You have
- 10:28now a mission. You must share the knowledge and the messages you have been
- 10:33given at the Veil for the benefit of humanity. And I said, right,
- 10:41I'm going to write this book Spiritual Revelations from Beyond the Veil, as
- 10:46a mouthpiece for some five hundred written NDE accounts to get the message out there.
- 10:54How does this book differ from other books on this phenomenon, Now that's
- 10:58a good question. Many books detail their individual experience. Other books look at
- 11:07it from a religious perspective. I didn't do that with my book. I
- 11:15tried to separate religion from spirituality, unlike my first book. Some of them
- 11:22delve into the religion or the philosophical aspects of the nd others the scientific and
- 11:31medical aspects. But I researched the literature, and very few books have actually
- 11:37looked at what is the collective messaging of these NDE accounts, What should be
- 11:46we should be learning from this experience and the messaging and in spiritual revelations from
- 11:54beyond the Veil. You share numerous stories, as you say, by near
- 11:58death experience answers on several fascinating and enlightening topics. You begin with reports of
- 12:03their experience of God or source. What were some of those experiences and how
- 12:09did they change their perspectives and beliefs. Well, for those who came from
- 12:16a strict religious background, they said that after their experience, organized religion was
- 12:22not so important to them. They felt that it's more important to be spiritual.
- 12:28In other words, they felt it was very possible to be close to
- 12:33God without the intervention of organized religion, and some of them became very close
- 12:41with nature, almost became pantheistic in their outlook. On the other hand,
- 12:48those who were agnostics or atheists beforehand, after their experience, they felt in
- 12:58client well, they incline. They knew they now had certainty and proof of
- 13:03an afterlife and of the existence of God. And they all described God as
- 13:11light, as the essence. God is energy and vibrations. In fact,
- 13:18one end the year described God with the acronym love. God is love,
- 13:26unconditional love, oneness, vibrations, and energy. God is the essence of
- 13:35the energy that runs through everything, that is to be found in every sub
- 13:43atomic particle of the universe of the cosmos. And that love runs through,
- 13:50animates and connects everything and everyone. And the word light is found in all
- 14:00almost every one of those descriptions. Indeed, there is a bit of a
- 14:07dichotomy. Some Indie years claim they communicated directly with the Light, which one
- 14:18can assume is the presence of God. Other Indie years claimed in their accounts
- 14:26that they were communicating with beings of light, which could be construed as guardian
- 14:33angels or spirit guides. But in any event, they were communicating with the
- 14:39light. And this definition of source or God, is that the creative energy
- 14:46of the universe? It is? It is? And how do they relate
- 14:50to the Source or the creator of all that is, the bestower of all
- 14:56life, the creator of all things physical and non physical realms of existence?
- 15:03There are countless universes, according to the end of years, countless realms and
- 15:09dimensions of existence, both seen and unseen, of vast complexity, some of
- 15:18which interact with our own earthly realm. In the book, you share numerous
- 15:26descriptions from the ears of Heaven. Is there a common theme in these descriptions?
- 15:33And were any surprising or unexpected? Well? I can begin by saying
- 15:39that you can classify the descriptions of heaven into three types. Fector number one.
- 15:48You can describe Heaven from a spiritual frame of reference in which negative energy
- 15:58is not permitted to enter. There is no anger, no hatred, no
- 16:03aggression, no greed, no finding fault with other people, no violence or
- 16:11harm. These types of negative energy are not permitted in the higher spiritual realms.
- 16:18Only peace, unconditional love, joy, and unconditional acceptance and understanding.
- 16:32Heaven can also be described as an emotional experience at the deepest level, one
- 16:41of utter joy, of euphoria, bliss, complete understanding and connection with everything
- 16:51and all that is. And there was a third group of endears who described
- 16:57Heaven from the state point of sensory perception, particularly with the senses of sight
- 17:07and sound, but not as we are used to experiencing them on Earth.
- 17:14So with their eyes they saw beautiful rolling hills with carpets of wildflowers. They
- 17:22saw streams and ponds and lakes with overhanging trees. They saw swans and the
- 17:32geese gliding through the water. They saw buildings made of luminescent crystaline light with
- 17:40walls but apparently no ceiling. They saw many types of birds, many beautiful
- 17:48flowers, and unearthly colors that pulsated that were almost alive. And with their
- 17:56ears they heard the most beautiful, indescribable symphony of music that they had never
- 18:06heard of on earth, almost like it's been described as an anthem like music.
- 18:12So Heaven was described from those three different viewpoints or standpoints. There were
- 18:22also descriptions of hell but from a sensible awareness rather than a punitive nature.
- 18:32Yes, and here again we have a dichotomy. Some people described hell as
- 18:41simply an absence of the presence of God. Now that could be of the
- 18:48choosing of the soul consciousness itself as one angel or being of light. Said
- 18:56to an end, the ear souls choose not to accept the beauty of God.
- 19:04They refuse to enter the tunnel of light, and they become trapped.
- 19:11They are what the Asian people would call hungry ghosts, or what we might
- 19:18call in the West earth bound spirits. They either do not accept the beauty
- 19:26of God or are afraid to go down the tunnel of light. Or they
- 19:30may be too attached to the earthly realm. They might be too attached to
- 19:37their former home, or to precious treasures that they had, or to people,
- 19:44or to other things. And there was a third category of in the
- 19:51ears who described hell as a physical place of torment, of fear, anguish,
- 20:00pain, suffering. And in fact, I remember one vivid NDE description
- 20:10the being of Light escorted the sole consciousness to a so called hellish place,
- 20:18and the soul consciousness viewed anguished souls who were part of a wall, and
- 20:29their arms and face were sticking out of this wall, and they were in
- 20:33pain and anguish, and they looked at the soul consciousness and it was quite
- 20:41hard for the consciousness to absorb this. And the being of Light told the
- 20:48soul consciousness, do not move out from under the protection of my light,
- 20:53because if you do, you will never leave this place. So from these
- 21:00three standpoints, hell has been thusly described by the near death experiencers. My
- 21:08guest is Douglas Hodgson. His book is called Spiritual Revelations from Beyond Bavail What

- 23:02in the Head Council back on Destination Unlimited. My guest this week is Douglas
- 23:15Hodgson. His book is entitled Spiritual Revelations from Beyond the Veil. What humanity
- 23:21can learn from the near death experience. Douglas. A recurring theme from nd
- 23:29ears is that there is no separation in the afterlife, only oneness. Is
- 23:34there one in particular that you found personally moving, Yes, there was one
- 23:41end to ear that said that, again I'm paraphrasing, when I left my
- 23:48body, I left behind my ego or I I left behind my earthly identity,
- 23:57and I found that in the world of spirit, I was everything and
- 24:03everything was me. And that's consistent with what you can find in Hindu and
- 24:10Buddhist scripture that on earth we live in a realm of separation and separateness,
- 24:18in which the observer and the observed are two different vantage points. That is
- 24:26not so. In the realm of spirit. We leave behind the so called
- 24:33dualistic nature of our existence, and everything is an interconnected oneness. We are
- 24:41everything, everything is us. We leave behind our earthly identity and our ego,
- 24:51and in fact, some Eastern religions, such as Buddhism and Hinduism,
- 24:56call that enlightenment or self realization. There was an old song lyric by the
- 25:06Moody Blues from a song called the Eyes of a Child, and it said,
- 25:10with the eyes of a child. You must come out and see that
- 25:14your world spinning round and through life. You will be a small part of
- 25:18a whole of a love that exists. With the eyes of a child,
- 25:22you will see. It seems like the nd Ears are almost having a childlike
- 25:26experience or rebirth. That's beautifully said Victor. It is important to be like
- 25:34a child, and I've actually emphasized that in my first book, Transcendental Spirituality,
- 25:44the divine virtues of simplicity, innocence, purity, and gentleness and quietude
- 25:53and humility. And when Indie Ears return to their earthly body, they are
- 26:00changed people. They have had a profound and life changing experience. They know
- 26:07now what life is about, and they no longer fear death, and that
- 26:11is like being a child. Children do not have fear, they have wonder
- 26:17in awe and curiosity. And that's what happens to the Indie Years. And
- 26:23in this idea of non separation of this oneness, does that also include oneness
- 26:30with Creator or Source? Yes? Yes. Our ultimate goal vector, according
- 26:37to the Indie Years, is to become one with the Source. And Hinduism,
- 26:45for example, says that enlightenment is being totally absorbed into the light or
- 26:52into God. But that's along an arduous road, is done through lifetime after
- 27:03lifetime of the progressive evolution of the soul consciousness. And that doesn't happen overnight.
- 27:14Well, it does, perhaps to some messengers or assented masters, but
- 27:19for most of us that happens after thousands and thousands of incarnations and of learning
- 27:26our life lessons. What did those you researched share about the nature of the
- 27:33soul. The soul is the essence and energy of God. As the religions
- 27:45say, God is imminent, The Kingdom of God is within you. And
- 27:52our soul is our life force. It has energy and vibrations. It is
- 28:00and what we truly are at the deepest foundational level. It is our mind,
- 28:07our thoughts and emotions, which are felt much more deeply and richly in
- 28:14the realm of spirit. And our soul consciousness, as I refer to it,
- 28:21transcends our body. It survives the death of our body, the cessation
- 28:29of our heart function and our brain. It is transcendental in nature and in
- 28:36the spiritual realms. The connection with God is even more pronounced, and is
- 28:44the soul eternal. It is the soul is eternal, it cannot be destroyed.
- 28:53It is infinite, and when it leaves the physical body, it expands.
- 29:00It enjoys elevated awareness and perception. The mind has elevated levels of acuity
- 29:10or sharpness. It can understand very complex concepts such as the law of physics,
- 29:19which on Earth would take us much much longer to absorb and understand.
- 29:26And in the realm of spirit, there is no such thing as a question
- 29:33without an accompanying answer. And I found that to be very reassuring that even
- 29:40before the thought question is formulated, you receive an answer from the light.
- 29:47So you do have elevated levels of omniscience. Not complete omniscience, but elevated
- 29:55levels. That's fascinating that every question is answered before the question can even be
- 30:03uttered. Yes, and not only that it is answered clearly, completely,
- 30:11fully, and unlike Planet Earth, nothing is lost in translation. There is
- 30:18no risk of misinterpretation or misconstruing, no ambiguity. No, it is communication
- 30:29of a quasi telepathic nature from the deepest level of the soul consciousness to that
- 30:36of the other. That's fascinating. Do we have Do we make soul agreements
- 30:45according to the end to years? We do, however, with the caveat
- 30:51that I only identified about twelve Indi years out of some five hundred that actually
- 30:59refer to the soul agreement or something similar. And you certainly have a counterpart
- 31:06in the Tibetan Book of the Dead, which I also researched. But essentially
- 31:11between incarnations, after we have had our life review in which our soul is
- 31:18cleansed or purged of whatever we brought onto ourselves in the previous incarnation, we
- 31:30sit down with our guardian angels and our spirit guides and we map out the
- 31:37direction or the overarching life plan of the next incarnation. So, for example,
- 31:47which continent we are going to be born on, which family, and
- 31:52in which circumstances we are to be born into the length of our life on
- 31:59earth, and what we are to achieve. Each of us in our earthly
- 32:05incarnation has a unique and tailored mission, and we must fulfill that mission in
- 32:14order to progress or evolve our soul consciousness. So all of those things are
- 32:22agreed to prior to our birth on earth. But once we are born into
- 32:30the earthly realm, we of course have free will to determine the overall direction
- 32:38of our human life, and when we reach the proverbial fork in the road,
- 32:45which fork we are going to take? And it is tricky because sometimes
- 32:50we choose a fork that takes us away from our life mission and draws us
- 32:57into negative energy, where sometimes we take a fork that helps us to achieve
- 33:06our life mission. It actually draws the positive energy of the enter of the
- 33:12universe to us. But whatever choices we make in life, God respects and
- 33:22honors those choices, but we do remain responsible and accountable for those choices at
- 33:30the soul level. I don't know if any of the ndars ever shared this,
- 33:37but my life has been blessed with what I would refer to as a
- 33:40series of what Carl Jung referred to as synchronicities meaningful coincidences without causal connection.
- 33:47And it seems like every time I've had a fork in the road, the
- 33:51one you were talking about, the fork in the road, I'd be presented
- 33:53with a situation and I had three choices. I could say no and dismiss
- 33:59it out of hand. I could say, you know, that's interesting,
- 34:00but I'll pursue it later. Where I could say, yes, this is
- 34:04really where my path is heading. I will embrace this and move forward.
- 34:07And with every big yes, with that capital y, the next one would
- 34:12come, and the next one would come, and I feel very blessed in
- 34:14that regard. Did anybody reflect anything like that, That's interesting, Victor.
- 34:21No. I can't recall any of the end of Years referring to synchronicity,
- 34:25but I do recall some of them saying that at important junctures in their life,
- 34:32they were assisted after their NDE by the intervention of their spirit guides or
- 34:39guardian angels. And they also said I remember one End of Year saying that
- 34:45after my ND, I didn't realise much on reason and logic and relied more
- 34:52on my own intuition, because she said that inexplicable knowing that we have have
- 35:00We don't know how we know it, but we know that we know it.
- 35:05The Indie Years said that comes from your time in the world of spirit,
- 35:09because in the world of spirit you have heightened levels of awareness and knowledge.
- 35:16You've always known these things, but when we are born into the earthly
- 35:22plane, someone hits the delete button and we have to figure all of this
- 35:27out for ourselves. But sometimes we are aided by that. If I can
- 35:32call it extraterrestrial intuition, which you have always known but temporarily forgotten on Earth.
- 35:42Absolutely, do we ever incarnate someplace other than Earth? Yes, we
- 35:49do. According to the Indie Years, you can reincarnate either into a material
- 35:58or physical realm such as Earth, and many have had many lifetimes on Earth,
- 36:05but you can also become part of an unseen, non physical or non
- 36:10material realm, a realm of light and energy in which you don't have a
- 36:17physical body. You may have a spirit that looks like it has a humanoid
- 36:24form, but you are spirit your energy. And in fact, one end
- 36:30a Year related in their account that some of the life reviews actually include previous
- 36:44existences, not on Earth, but in other realms, and how you went
- 36:50during those existences, and how your soul has progressed. Because after each life
- 36:55or incarnation or existence, all of this is recorded and played back to the
- 37:01soul consciousness, so you can get a continuity of progression or elevation. So
- 37:08each life has been described like a chapter in a book, and you keep
- 37:13adding chapters to your book as your soul progresses eventually to complete communion with the
- 37:21Light. I love that. Thank you for sharing that. That's absolutely beautiful.
- 37:25Thank you my pleasure. I wonder we read about in different religions different
- 37:32levels of their perception of heaven. Are there multiple levels of heaven? Reported,
- 37:38Well, that's a terrific question, Victory. I'm glad you raise that,
- 37:43because I did have one end a year say that there is just not
- 37:46one heaven. There are many levels to heaven. And when I read that,
- 37:52I nearly fell off my chair because in my research from my previous book,
- 38:00for example, in Islam for Muslims, there are seven heavens. And
- 38:08if you look at Indian religion, specifically the Jain faith, they believe in
- 38:15the concept of ascending heavens. And in fact, I almost called my first
- 38:21book Pathway to the Ascending Heavens, but my publisher encouraged me to change the
- 38:27title. But that is fascinating. You have corroboration of the Holy scriptures that
- 38:34there's just not one level of heaven. There are different levels to heaven,
- 38:38almost like ascending, like you're graduating as your soul consciousness progresses and elevates,
- 38:46if I can put it that way. And I must say that I read
- 38:51something similar in doctor Abe and Alexander's book Proof of Heaven. He refers to
- 38:58the core and he refers to the gateway, and it may be that doctor
- 39:05Alexander, by referring to the gateway, is we're referring to a preliminary stage
- 39:13of heaven before you reach the core. So that is a great question in
- 39:19the matter that perhaps is a good research topic for further researchers. His book
- 39:27is entitled Spiritual Revelations from Beyond the Veil What Humanity can learn from the near
- 39:32death Experience. We'll be back with more of Douglas Hodgson after these words on

- 40:38Magazine's flagship radio show What is going On? My passion is sifting through information,
- 40:45research and innovations from new thought teachers, speakers and researchers, pushing back
- 40:50the boundaries of what we know about life, energy, metaphysics, and the
- 40:53universe. I love shifting perceptions about who we are, why we're here,
- 40:59and how impossible becomes normal when we open our minds, expand our awareness,
- 41:04and accept that the only limits that exist are those we place upon ourselves.
- 41:08So if you're the kind of forward thinking, eager investigator of what lies beyond
- 41:14the current reality that most perceive, why not make a date to come play

- 41:29I'm a cat and I just moved in with this new human and she's got

- 41:37blue bloop. She can't put it down there it is Oh and get
- 41:40this. She even talks to it. Last week she asked it for Chinese

- 42:43cab rights to the Asian community. There is so much more work to be

- 43:07People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals five on one Front Street in Norfolk,

- 43:22week is Douglas Hodgson. His book is entitled Spiritual Revelations from Beyond the Veil
- 43:29What Humanity can learn from the near death experience. So in the last segment
- 43:32we were talking about reincarnation. Do we ever finish reincarnating? I can't recall
- 43:40reading a specific Ende account that answers that question, but my educated guest Victor,
- 43:45would be that we do that eventually. We cease to reincarnate when our
- 43:54soul is ready for communion with the Light, and Eastern religions would call that
- 44:04total absorption in the light of God or Brahman or Nirvana or the Buddhists,
- 44:13but all of us will reach that point. That is the divine plan.
- 44:20We are each of our soul consciousnesses. We are unique to the cosmos,
- 44:27but we are on the same spiritual pathway to God. Some of us are
- 44:32ahead of others, some of us lagging behind, but we're all treading the
- 44:37same path, and we will all get there eventually. And when we do,
- 44:44we will no longer have to reincarnate. And that indeed happened to the
- 44:47Buddha in his first sermon to his disciples, he said to them, this
- 44:53is my last incarnation. It's almost as if we graduate school absolutely Victor.
- 45:02Many of the d Years referred to earthly life as our university. We are
- 45:09sent here to learn. If I can quote from a Taois proverb from chapter
- 45:16twenty one of the Tao te Ching, life is a venturing forth. Death
- 45:23is a returning home that encapsulates the essence of the near death experience. Our
- 45:32individual experience is on earth that we create for ourselves through our free will,
- 45:39the gift of free will. Those individual experiences are our classroom, and eventually
- 45:47we ascend in the university of life to higher levels until we get that PhD
- 45:54in spirituality or total communion with the Light, and as you shared earlier,
- 46:02every question that we could possibly formulate, according to the ndears is answered before
- 46:08they can even iterate the question. Well that's what I found so profound and
- 46:15mind blowing, because I've always been a curious person and I tend to get
- 46:21a bit frustrated or agitated if I can't find the answers to something. So
- 46:27when I read this Indie accounts, I felt, oh, this is marvelous.
- 46:31You know, when I'm in the world of spirit, all of my
- 46:36questions are going to be answered, and there's no question without an accompanying answer.
- 46:42So with the assistance of the Light, I will have omniscience, as
- 46:47will all other soul consciousnesses. This is something really to look forward to.
- 46:53I agree with you one percent. I'm looking forward to that for sure.
- 46:59What lessons are shared about love and compassion, and especially love and compassion for
- 47:05self, Well, it's important to love ourselves in these times. Many do
- 47:13that, but in a narcissistic manner. But that's not what the End of
- 47:16Years are saying. By loving yourself, you are to respect yourself and not
- 47:23be judgmental or to condemn yourself. We are all human, we all make
- 47:30mistakes, but if we keep dredging up the past and beating ourselves up over
- 47:36it, we will not be able to let the light and love into our
- 47:43lives, into our souls, and it will be much harder for us to
- 47:49extend unconditional love and caring to other people. So that is the lesson there.
- 47:59We are here really to learn what is unconditional love and have we manifested
- 48:08it towards others? And one of the questions that we will be asked in
- 48:15any life review is what did you do that was not motivated or actuated by
- 48:22the prospect of personal gain? How did you love or care for others?
- 48:29From a completely altruistic viewpoint, did you extend material and spiritual charity and caring
- 48:39for others? And often we grizzle in life that we face so many challenges
- 48:46and problems, but that's the way it's intended to be. And as one
- 48:52end year said, when you have problems and challenges in your life, consider
- 49:00it as an opportunity to discern what particular life lessons you were sent here to
- 49:07absorb. Are these challenges to teach me to become a more loving and caring
- 49:14person, to be more patient, to be more forgiving and so forth.
- 49:22So that is also a very important lesson from the Indie Ears. It almost
- 49:29sounds like a contemplation that would be related to karma. Yes, some of
- 49:38the Indie Ears did refer to karma loosely called the law of cause and effect.
- 49:45But if I can borrow from a biblical metaphor, they all say that
- 49:51it is true what we reap, we sew, what we send forth into
- 49:59the universe will be ultimately returned to us, for good or for bad.
- 50:07So that was another universal law that was specifically identified by the End of Years,
- 50:15the law of karma. Were there any other overarching themes about the nature
- 50:22of energy, Well, energy connects us all, and actually, yes,
- 50:34if I can borrow from an analogy from nature, many of the Indie Years
- 50:42said that energy or consciousness runs through everything, all living things. So not
- 50:52only do human beings have energy or consciousness, so do animals, so do
- 51:00trees and plants, and that connects us all. And in fact, some
- 51:05of the Indie Years said that they recalled running through heaven with their childhood dogs
- 51:13beside them. Energy connects everything, and in fact, some of the Indie
- 51:19Years said that Earth is our mother. It is our living organism. It
- 51:25also has energy, and we must love and study nature closely and respect it.
- 51:34And that another universal law is that all life, all consciousness, is
- 51:42sacred and precious and must not be harmed, and that we must not take
- 51:49from nature more than our basic needs require that can sustainably be produced. If
- 51:59we don't that universal law, we do so humanity at our own peril.
- 52:07How would that affect the beliefs about not consuming animal flesh, Well, that
- 52:15is a very individual choice or decision and something that we should stay well away
- 52:23from in terms of condemnation or being judgmental. It's very much a personal choice.
- 52:30But my reading of the NDE accounts is that we should do not do
- 52:38violence or harm to other sentient beings. That is a form of negative energy,
- 52:45and if we do, we are bringing on a bit of negative energy
- 52:50to us. But myself, I don't eat meat, but I'm a pesco
- 52:55vegetarian. I do eat fish. It could well be that by doing so,
- 53:01I lower my energy or vibration somewhat in doing so, and meat eaters
- 53:07likewise, but that's a matter of speculation. But reading the NDE accounts,
- 53:15that seems to be implied, but without any condemnation or judgment. What would
- 53:22you like readers to take away from spiritual revelations from Beyond the Veil A number
- 53:29of points, Victor. First of all, the NDI ears are unanimous that
- 53:37physical death of our body is not to be feared. Our sole consciousness is
- 53:44eternal and survives the death of our body in an absolutely beautiful after life awaits
- 53:54us beautiful beyond description. Another Indie Year beautifully said, make a difference in
- 54:05your life on earth. Give to the world more than you receive from it.
- 54:12And finally, another Indie Year wisely said that what we regard on earth
- 54:22as important, our material wealth, fame, these things are considered superficial,
- 54:30irrelevant, and insignificant in the spiritual realms, and what we consider relatively minor
- 54:40on earth, minor acts of kindness like opening a door for an elderly person,
- 54:47we're feeding a stray cat. That these are considered in the spiritual realms
- 54:54to be profound manifestations of love. So my message to your viewers would be
- 55:01try to detach somewhat from worldly things and engage in doing small kindnesses to others.
- 55:12Absolutely small acts of kindness go so far in this world of ours,
- 55:16my guest Douglas Hodgson. His book is entitled Spiritual Revelations from Beyond the Veil
- 55:23What Humanity can learn from the near death experience. Douglas, one more time,
- 55:29please share with our listeners where they can get your books and find out
- 55:31more about you. Yes, my book is available on Amazon USA, zero
- 55:39books, dot Com, five Indie, virtually every online bookseller. Also should
- 55:50be in several of the bricks and water bookshops Walmart included. I believe so
- 55:58your listeners should have no difficulty purchasing it. Douglas. My gratitude to you
- 56:02for this work that you've done and bringing it to our listeners into the world.
- 56:07You're most welcome, Victor. It's been an absolute pleasure, and thank
- 56:10you for joining us on Destination Unlimited. I'm Victor, the voice Furman of
- 56:16a wonderful week.
