Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: time for the 49ers rush podcast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: and here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on, faithful?
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: It is absolutely incredible to be with you guys today.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty pumped about today's episode because one will continue in our countdown series, which, too, I'd love this new format.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: If you're new with us, we used to do one individual episode that are recorded off air and then air, every single individual episode, individual players, 91 episodes.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: And like it was cool and I liked it and it was fun to, you know, attribute an entire episode to one player, but it was just kind of daunting from a logistics standpoint this year because my life is a little bit crazy.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're moving in one week.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: So Chapman's house is in jambles.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're packing and downsides and all this stuff.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: We decided to try to go to my wife's pleasure.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like I had to make her happy.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: She was like, do, don't do the countdown again.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: You're stressed every year on that.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I gotta do it.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: I gotta do it.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: So we're doing five players per episode, this episode's players 28 through 24 on the roster account that was super pumped about.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: And man, it's filled with second-year players and one of the predominant rookies.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now the title of the episode is 49ers most impactful rookie.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the question I want to start us off with, right?
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think of the eight drafted rookies in this draft class?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: Would be the most impactful for the 20, 20, 60s in a loan?
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: Not not long term, not life of the contract, all that stuff.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: We're kind of doing an air site near-sighted focus for a countdown series.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: It just trying to pay attention to just
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: this season, right?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: So 2026 impact only.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: So my question to you is, which one of the rookies do you think has the biggest impact this season?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, our countdown
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to kind of give us the answer for what we thought.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: And again, shout out to Josh, Ben, Zack, and myself.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: We kind of went through ranked one through 91, all these different players.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: And it's been such a flood process.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: You get to know all these players better.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of just forces a microscopic view on the individual player impact, how all those things work out.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: And the depth chart is so paramount in this.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I think one of the things that's really, really cool and we'll get to this little bit later in today's episode.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: Looking at the 2026-40 Niners roster compared to last year.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: This is a lot harder countdown to do.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Because here we are in the 20s.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: And last year we were throwing players that probably didn't deserve to be there because there was such a cataclysmic drop-off
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: from your pillars, your all-pro players, your pro-bowlers, to what's next, it just wasn't present last year.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: This season,
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: you have a little bit more of a verified second year player breakout candidates that are in that county category that are in this category and I just think it's a testament to this is a better team this is a much better roster talked about them then what you saw last year and last year's team pressing all the way for the number one seed up until week 18 you got to play off when you knocked off the defending champions the Eagles on the road in the playoffs only eight teams one playoff games last season only eight
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: and myths all the injuries, the depleted roster, all those different things, didn't matter.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then he'll look at 2026.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's even better.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: it goes to 11.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: It goes to 11.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man, Oscar, what's up, man?
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: He says, height should fit the narrative of most impactful this season.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Knox, what's up?
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, height should be number one, rookie cal, uh, cal, attic, Ramello, high impact is bigger than string.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think dribbling will show great flashes, but the room for a lot more big plays now.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I agree.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why at number 28, the second highest rated rookie on this list, Deshawn Striblin.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be talking about you have a lot of what to say, thank you to all the hashtag CCs, what's up, Chrissy, what's up Devon?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys what's up Tommy.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a little early.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I got to get to pack it.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: So usually I wait till 10 and man, we're getting two 49ers for us shows today.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, whatever.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: I say we're like all in vacation time is over.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: We're not playing around anymore.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna go live later today around 7 p.m Larry's so sticky busy.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be on their recruiter anywhere between 715 to 730 will be live again later tonight So we're getting two shows today We got a countdown in the morning starting us off right and we're gonna end the day
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: with Larry at all the craziness that he brings he is the best of the best and so that's going to be a lot of fun.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: So two shows today, which I'm super, super pumped right here count.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know if I've ever counted down a preseason like I have this year, hope is there.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: It should be there for all 32 teams, but man, when you look at the 49ers roster, it is very easy to say this is a top five roster in the NFL.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: You look at the coaching
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're in the NSC West and yeah defending Super Bowl Seattle Seawaks had your number for sure.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: They're back and they're I think they took a couple steps back, but still great.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: The Rams Good Lord.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: You can make the argument three best teams of the NFL are on the same division.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: but got to play the games, got to play the games.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: What's up Oscar, hashtag CC, man?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: Travels did go well, thank you, man.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: And thanks for the anniversary, which is, I'm at 27 with the wife.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: We're at 20, we just passed 20.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: You're at 27, you stud, Oscar, you're the freaking man.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: Jacks, can't wait to hang out this season.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, every time we are together, it is, we have a great time.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: There's no doubt about that.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, everybody?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate everybody.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: Come in there.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at Ben.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: Three days in a row, I'm playing Powerball tonight.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: If I win, I'll throw your trips on me.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm talking about.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: That all story a trip is pricey.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: But it's going to be absolutely incredible.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: Life long memories.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot wait, cannot wait, cannot wait.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Raj?
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: My man.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: He says, I was just about to ask when you're on with Larry again.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll be doing a couple radio segments with him on K and BR this week.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: Not sure when those are.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll be live tonight on his in my channel, respectively.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, man.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: Check us out.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: Check us out.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: Check us out.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, John?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Can't wait to see you out there and Dallas will be traveling from Kansas with lots of heads.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Man, that's what I'm talking about.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Dallas is going to be a blast.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't been to Jerry's world, it's one of the older stadiums in the NFL now.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: The shelf life of stadiums is about 15 to 20 years.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Which I guess that's good for Levi's because, man, Levi's is, oh.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: terrible.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: And by far, it's funny.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: I was even talking to people over in France and, you know, whenever we were over there watching World Cup games with, you know, Brits and Spaniards, it was awesome.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: And they were asking us about stadiums in the World Cup and a few different people are like, man, I heard Levi's is like terrible.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, yeah, it's pretty bad.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's our stadium.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: The fans are great.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: The team's great.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: I love that atmosphere there.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: But like, from the surroundings, it's terrible.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: But if you haven't been to Jerry's world, which is much older than Levi's, it's actually held up very, very well.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: And now they're talking about kind of redoing that one and updating that one.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Dallas is going to be a good time.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: And now they announced to wear in the throwbacks for those games, which is awesome, awesome, awesome.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, thanks for the hashtag CC's party in and Arlington would be kick ass.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll be at we've written it out Texas live like if you watch the world cup and you saw those parties And Dallas, yeah, and we're going to be in that safe spot.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: We were going to show up.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: We're expecting a very, very large crowd 49ers rush road trip.com.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Go get tickets now.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're the cheapest that they will be.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: For the all-inclusive tailgate premium tailgate day of the game, which we have our own private lot for that, and then the day before we'll be at Texas live in Texas, so in our league, and that's going to be a good time.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here, my main worry on the schedule's midlife stadium, that place is the only one that I would rank worse than Levi's.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: I've been to 26 stadiums.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so 26 and 25 writes two teams, um, but for two teams, uh, met life's the worst Levi's probably second to worst.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the one that saved me grace for Levi's is the grass field.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: This probably one of the best fields in the NFL, but that doesn't affect fan experience.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that's where we're at.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: So let's jump into the countdown.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate all the hashtag CCs.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Just Sean Strimpling.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: The second highest rated rookie on our countdown comes in at number 28.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, draft it.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: He was the first draft pick, but he's not the highest impact.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of that has to do with the offseason moves and free agency.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: You bring in my Kevin's you bring in Christian Kirk captain Kirk.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: I got to fix that.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: got Ricky Pierce all back to Sean Stribbling the rookie impact is gonna be a little minimal especially at the jump.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now if there's an injury to any of the top three wide receivers which you know Evans, Pierce all Kirk that those are probably your starters off the bat.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if there's an injury somewhere, you can move him accordingly.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's played so much.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 15?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: I like that.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: 6207.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Do 23 years old, one of my rushed crush players, right?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: We had 13 players that were my favorite players in the draft to Sean Stripley was one of them.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I was super high on him.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: I had a high third round grade on him.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was rated in the 50s.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Niners took up 33.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: He was 50s on my board.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: I love the player.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously, you know, yeah, shefter put now that the Rams liked him a lot too and whatever else.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: He was a clean evaluation played out Washington state transfer to Oklahoma State and transferred to Ole Miss.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of had three versions of the air raid.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's going to the background.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: The day Shawn Ryan Stribleen is the full name only child who's born or who why.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: But then moved outside of Rally, North Carolina area.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: His father Carlos spent 17 years in the Marines.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like to hear that, so you're definitely structured, regimented, respectful, like all those different things.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to come across.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: His mother was in the count naisha.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then they moved to San Diego area.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: Again, military kids, they bounce around a lot.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's just kind of what it is started playing pop Warner football.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: As a running back and then just kind of blossomed into what he was as a wide receiver move back to why in the sixth grade.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's where he started to love football switched to quarterback then back to wide receiver played all over the place.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: his uncle, Don the Rock, Morocco, are you freaking kidding me?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: Where are my 80s, 90s kids at?
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Professional wrestler and all that stuff.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Then, Stribbling once he gets a high school multi-sports standout.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Three-star recruit, he accepted the Washington State.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: kind of scholarship goes there, graduated with a degree in university studies at Oklahoma State, transfers to Ole Miss for his final college season and played multiple situations, but he was kind of the X everywhere.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now, what is the X?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: There is a lot of terminology that gets thrown around when talking wide receivers, that gets kind of rough.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Number one wide receiver
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Shanahan system.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: There's only three wide receivers.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't have four.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the X.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the Z and he's got the slot.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: The X is Julio Jones, Andre Johnson, Josh Gordon, Brandon IU.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: The Z is Debo Samuel, Ricky Pierce, all that kind of gadget can do screens, end around, whatever else.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then you got the slot, usually Kyle Shatt had prefers the small slot in the big slot, right, the small slot, Trent Taylor, Algebra Robinson, you know, these little bitty guys.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then you've also got the big slot guys to on Jennings, Kendrick born that type of role.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: But the X is the most valuable wide receiver position in the NFL.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's the most valuable wide receiver position in the Kauchinian offense.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Striblin is that.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: He could play down to the slot roll.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: Z, I'm not so sure about.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we talked a little bit about that yesterday with Wayne.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not where I would put him personally, but if you had to, you could.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think X is where he will be eventually.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: Slot, he could get some early slaps now, especially in the red zone short yardage.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: Shonstremlin gets drafted in the second round, 33rd overall.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: And this was after the 40-hour straight back, not once, but twice.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: They get the top pick in the second round this year, take the Shonstremlin and everybody flips out.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: His 23 years old, and here's our pre-draft rite of Deshawn Strippling.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: Again, this was a rush crush guy, one of my favorite players in this draft.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is what we wrote about him before the Niners drafted him insane experience across major multiple conferences over 3,000 stamps, most for any wide receiver drafted this season in the draft.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: In St.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Speed size combo, a plus blocker and yet guy should be getting more love at Ole Miss was the true ex, but the offense is hard to evaluate hate Ole Miss.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: I hate that we drafted back to back Ole Miss guys and Jordan walkins in him.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: I hate watching Ole Miss offense.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's disgusting.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: Play so hard fights for every yard.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: This is to Sean Striplin' catches everything, even to passes natural hands, catchers that snatches the ball when his hands extended consistently.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Tight hips, not a lot of wiggle, that's why I don't see him as a sea.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: Right, you think about D-Bo, you think about peer saw.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: They win in different ways, but that shiftiness, that is there.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Straight line start stop is elite.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope Brock can kind of develop that back shoulder fade, because now you have Mike Evans, who's one of the best in the NFL to do it over the past decade.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're adding to Sean Stribling.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: This big, bodied high speed vertical threat X that can shut down the gears, slam on the brakes and hit that back shoulder fade.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: The hardest
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: route to defend for a corner back.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: Almost every single corner, you could be a perfect position.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: If the quarterback a wide receiver on the same page on that back shoulder kind of come back, you know, whatever, almost impossible to defend.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: No issues go to the middle for the shot statement.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we rated his traits, right?
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: We, we grade traits one through 10,
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: speed nine acceleration eight production for he never really had that blow up year he played a lot of football for multiple schools and was always consistently good.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: But again, like you look at he had 734 yards six touchdowns his last year Ole Miss never was like that guy that is like a thousand yards double digit touchdowns just never was that guy.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Blocking 10 yet nine.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of high ratings.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now you look at his snaps, 3,000 to eight snaps to the wide receiver position, 20 plus in the back field.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: He took some back field snaps at Washington or Oklahoma State.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: 40 snaps in line is kind of like a tight end.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't have a too much slot, 500 snaps out wide over 2400 snaps.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's an X wide receiver that is where the value is.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Striblings, freaking awesome.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, shout out to my man, Mikey with basement proof of fantasy football, we were chatting this morning and he was debating on, you know, an apartment at fantasy league, you know, a forever league where you just keep the player that you draft forever.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: He was debating, tweet a couple of players, it's dribbling was one of them I was telling dude, if this is a forever league, if you get the X wide receiver for Kyle Sheddyhand, eventually he's going to put up some insane numbers, insane numbers.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: Julio Jones, Andre Johnson, I mean Josh Gordon, you go on and on and on and on.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: The x-wide receiver position in the Kyle Shenan offense.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's a gift.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: It is a gift.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: This year, Mike Evans is that guy.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Stribbling gets learned from one of the best to do it.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to sit in the wings, take notes, develop his game, all those different things, but might be able to contribute as that big slot role early, but when Mike Evans comes out, my Kevin's is old.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be snaps available.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: If everybody is healthy in the wide receiver room, I expect dribbling to get about 15 to 20 snaps again.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: Injury happens, that could change.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: That could be inflated considerably.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: But that's about what you want for the rookie about 15 to 20 snaps again.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Develop, earn, ease in, all those different things.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Um, athletic comp Romo Dobbs, who that was one of the guys I wanted the Niners to sign what you got them for free basically in the draft.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to pay them crazy crazy money.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: I had the highest third round grade on him.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: He fit in the 50s in my overall.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: He was a 10 out of 10.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: There are two players on today's countdown that were perfect.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: 10 out of 10s.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: on our 49er's Fitscale.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: We rank every single player that we rank drafted.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: We did 200 plus to shot, I think we had nine, 10 scores and two of them got drafted by the 49ers.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're pretty good at recognizing a lot of the guys that the 49ers like, oh, man.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love to shot tripling.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: Was it a reach?
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe a little bit.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: But this is a player that fits perfectly at a major position of need long term.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: Love the draft pick.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: love it, love it, love it, love it, oh, man.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this question for Doc Savage.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you could magically transport any stadium to the Niners home field, which won't want you to do Bank of America Stadium, Minnesota Vikings is my favorite stadium in the NFL.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's number one.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't been there, man, go check it out.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: It is right in the heart of the city.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: One, everything is aesthetically pleasing.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's a freaking Viking ship, which doesn't really fit with the 49ers.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: But whatever, you could change it to like, make it look all the outside, like, go it into like a, what's it called?
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like a cave to, you know, mine out gold and stuff.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: You make it awesome.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that stadium was bad ass.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: It snows inside.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: They make it snow.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: It fakes snow from the ceiling.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Bank of America Stadium, the Viking Stadium is number one for me by a considerable amount.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: If you go to one stadium to take some time at some point, go see that stadium.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's freaking awesome.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: But it kind of my favorite stadiums in a fell.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: I love Bank of America, the Viking Stadium.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: I love Seattle Stadium.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's just incredible, beautiful right on the water in the city.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: fans loud as hell, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: I hate Seattle though.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like the radar stadium a lot, so-fi is pretty cool, but kind of a little too corporate feel for me.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's too big, but you know, and then Atlanta, Atlanta is awesome.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Atlanta might be the one that, yeah, I'd be cool with that one as well.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: Atlanta is incredible.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Freaking opens up.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: Atlanta is just great.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: It
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: I could talk uniforms or stadiums at any time ladies and gentlemen at any time, it's so like whatever I used to teach, you know, I taught for 16 years.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: and students would try to get me off to ask like I'd let them know to y'all want to get off to ask what go down some rabbit holes.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have some fun.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: We don't learn.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes I'd catch them to it on purpose.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, if you guys want to get me off to ask stadiums and uniforms, I will take the bait almost every time.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Devon, what's up, man?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: He says, I watch highlights of stripling blocking daily so much fun.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I put out clips.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to go watch his game tape, his all 22 game tape, which is really hard to find, we have that up on
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: on our Patreon, which link is in the description of this video for both of those.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: Sign up, get a seven day free trial.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: We have multiple games up.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just Sean Stripley.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: You'll see him pancake a defensive back, a corner.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: And start hitting his helmet like Drake Greenlaw with both fists on a block.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're talking about a guy that just
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: wants to destroy people.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it is there consistently.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, he had a running quarterback and Trinity that Chamberless at Ole Miss.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so there's a lot of RPO garbage, which I just, I really hate watching.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, a lot of those quarterback keepers on the RPO's touchdowns first downs happened because of to Sean Strivley holding his block against
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: like he fits.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: He was a 10 out of 10.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a 10 on the blocking scale.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: The only guy that I had had a higher run blocking grade than to Sean Strivley was Denzel Boston, who I really, really liked.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Strivley and his like he was number two in this draft class for me from a wide receiver block standpoint.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's an additive, right?
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: If blocking is the best attribute for a wide receiver, there's a problem, you want it to be an additional thing.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the core thing.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not the core thing for him.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: Speed size hands, those are what separate to Sean and Stribling.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Is he a great route runner?
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: He is not yet.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: He is not.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't have to be in those systems.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's air raid.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: go to a spot and we'll throw it to you.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to develop some.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to have to change that.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: But he gets to learn from my Gavans, you know what I mean?
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Shane?
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: My man, better late than ever, appreciate you.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: He says, I've gotten crazy excited about dribbling.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: I just hope, Shane, it doesn't bury him because he's a rookie guy with the first pick of the second round.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Stripman is going to play.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: And for those of us that have PTSD with Shane,
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, all these wide receivers have not played them.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's played first and second round wide receivers that were drafted since he's been with the 49ers.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Debo played right off the bat, limited role.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: I you played right off the bat, limited role.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: That was a COVID year.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: He had to play a lot more than I think anybody really wanted.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: But that's going to happen.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: News just now, from Adam Scepter, Zack Sharbinase,
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the seahawks that was kind of expected.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: So just kind of updating you on the NFC West.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Seattle put a lot of guys on that public.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of starters.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: They forced starters.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: Niners going to be putting some guys on there too, though.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: And we should start to hear that Saturday and Sunday.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Shader?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Michael?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: And Tori is what's up, man.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, keep dribbling out of the doghouse.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: I posted one of those clips of a homeland or trying to teach a son to fly.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: If you see that where they're all the roof at homeland or just like hits his son off the roof and the sun just falls and hits the ground.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, yeah, this is she had a hand to dribbling during rookie trading camp.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be rough for the kid, but
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: he's made of the right stuff.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's made of the right stuff.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: I see Striply coming out like Puka did to start just to start off.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Puka started off in the slot.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: Slot's easy.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: Puka still plays in the slot for the most part, but that McVay does that right.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: Cooper cup did the same thing.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Puka plays the slot role.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: To Sean Striply could do that now.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: McVay uses 11
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so even if stripling is that slot roll.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: You're only getting 20 snaps of game.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's got to get probably half of his reps at X, half of his reps at slot.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that's what it's going to be.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: There we go, Skull.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: You showed up there.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Pittsburgh's great.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: I love Pittsburgh.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: Accursures incredible.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of Pittsburgh's greatness has to do with the city and the fans.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: Akrasher stadiums nice it's definitely top 10 for me fan experience really really high but a lot of it's the Pittsburgh fans do they are freaking awesome that city the bridges oh such a good time yeah Pittsburgh stadiums incredible man right on the water yeah it's great it is great it is great no
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: agreed agreed agreed agreed.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um yeah, and what I say about sofai is too big for a reason.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's huge man.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: That place is crazy.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the internet of any place which is crazy?
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do anything.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: Every time you go to sofai, you get up to scan your ticket and nobody can get in because the internet is so bad.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody can open their tickets.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: So the only people I can get in are the ones that save their tickets to their wallet because if you try to open any app at sofai,
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: And so like it's a possible to show's there and all that's so that's frustrating, but yeah, it's funny.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the newest stadium most expenses stadium can't get cell phone service, just what it is right here.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, the last hero, we still didn't know what we haven't counted Jordan walk in.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, both big question marks.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Both of them.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, Ben right here.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: Dante Pettis played his rookie second round pick as well didn't play well, but he played.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: He just got too scared.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's too scared to go over the middle.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Philip, what's up, my man.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: He says, do we have a zoom hangout coming out?
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: We do.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: I forgot to ask the wife, which day it's going to be.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be Monday or Tuesday next week.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: Stay tuned.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get that posted.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: We do a zoom hangout once a month.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're moving Thursday.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I've got to have this done Monday or Tuesday, which I'm super pumped to.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: I love Zoom Hangout.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: Sarah is about as much fun as possible.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: So we're moving Thursday Friday.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: So we're gonna have to do Monday or Tuesday, but I gotta talk to the wife.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: She's not here.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: She's an a meeting of her own.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll have to talk to her and get back to you.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: But we will be having our Zoom Hangout Monday, the 27th or those numbers.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Monday to 27th or Tuesday to 28th.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: So just stay tuned for those.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: We will have those out there.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty excited about that big tone.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's all alike.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: I will play you as a rookie, but you're showing progress.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: You get hurt on the back end, all those different things.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it'll give you chances.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: But if you get injured or mess up, you're done.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: You're done.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: Logan, should probably could be active early and often considering we've known for having injuries that multiple positions, one entry and he's in the starting lineup.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: One entry and he's in the starting lineup.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with that.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: He could play any of those spots.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: So that's number 28.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to another second year player for the 49ers, not second year player the rest.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think one, I think every single player on here.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: that we have left.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the next four players and a row all second year 49ers.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: And so you kind of know what you're getting a little bit because you've seen it, but you're hoping that second year they all take a step up.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, that's not
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: rational for every single player in their second year step up, but they know what to expect.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: At number 27, Keon White, the defensive end comes in, got shot in the offseason.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's never good.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: A little baby, you suck.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 56?
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: He came in at the trade deadline right before about two weeks before.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: And man, I think God, you traded for him, you got him pennies on the dollar, gave up a six round pick for him.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: You're supposed to get a seventh round pick back,
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: The condition was that was a conditional.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: If he played over seven games, then that negated that seventh round pick coming back.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: He played 11 with the playoffs and everything.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: So that seventh round pick you didn't get back.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: So you have a six rounder, not too big of a deal for Keyon White.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: You had to have them last year.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: You do not win that playoff game without Keyon White.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: You had no defensive ends.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, starting.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: 65 to 90, he's huge, he's a tweener.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's a defensive tackle, buck style end.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: that could just do a little bit of everything.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: Not great at anything.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's a do it all defensive line player that can play everywhere.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Defensive tackle, defensive end, he could do it all.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: Went to Old Dominion was there for three years that transferred to Georgia Tech, go yellow jackets, born and raised in North Carolina, rally back to back rally players.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that, white went to Gardner Magnet High School,
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: played both sides of the ball.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's a tight and defensive end three star recruit went to old Dominion before transferring to Georgia Tech.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: Very productive college career led to him having to be in a second round pick, traded to the 49ers right before the deadline.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was drafted in the second round 46 overall by the Patriots back in 2023.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: They loved him.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: Then they switched defensive.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, alignment and scheme and he just wasn't what they wanted.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: Rable wants his guys.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: He was not picked by Rable.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so Rable just basically sent him out.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, he's awesome, man.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this big toe.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: Kion has football face.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he does.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: Look at it through the pictures for the thumbnail.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the graphic we use, we try to put all five picture, what do we do?
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: We put all five pictures of each player.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: You type a key on white and to Google and you look at the images, that dude, he has no care in the world for perhaps this is poorly said.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't give shit what he looks like.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's not one of those guys with his wrist taped up at all that stuff.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's out there with a shirt on tucked.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's got oversized undershirt on sleeves hanging out like he's got the hood on under the hell.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: He does not care.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: at all about like style and pizzazz whenever he's got his football uniform.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: This is football, football, football, football.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, big toe, I'm with you.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: 100% what's up, 49er's core, appreciate you guys.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you look at Keon White's going into his fourth season.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is the last year the 49ers have his contract, right?
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: So you gave him a six round pick for a guy for back to back years.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: played in 47 games, 20 starts, 12 tackle for lost seven and a half sacks through three seasons, not the biggest past pressure, but he's more of a disrupt and impact the quarterback than finisher.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a finisher.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's not what he is.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: and you got them for cheap man a six round pick really really awesome made a huge impact of the defensive line room consistent positive player still young with upside you know it is 27 and you're going to get a compensation pick back for him.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's going to go get signed somewhere and you're probably get like a seventh rounder back for him.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: So give up a sixth, you get two years out of him.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to get a compensation pick on the back end.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: Unless he goes out there and has a great season, which he's going to get snaps because we kill Williams.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: I expect to start on the pub.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: I fully expect both and key on why to be the starters for the first month of the season.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I expect to see out there.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: So he's going to get some more starts.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: played in the levy games for the 49ers last year played 600 snaps.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: 12 tackles two tackle for loss one and a half sacks six quarter back hits.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: Again more of a disruptor impactor than a finisher one fumble recovery one pass break up.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's on his rookie deal last year.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's made 5.9 million.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: Key on why it's a damn good player.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the gunshot wound definitely set him back.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: Could be a pup candidate when can't start, but again, with pup can come off the pup at any time.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: So Saturday, Sunday, when we get the list of 49ers players that are on the pup and FI all that stuff, take a deep breath, they could be activated at any time.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: They can be activated at any time.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so he is one of those guys.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: The workout videos have been awesome.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you 50 casual.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: But shit, it says, yeah, I've Googling KEL white right now.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just not one of those dudes that's just in there to be like, oh, everybody look at me.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is a lunch pal type dude.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: He went to old dominion then.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, I love that.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: Niners now, eight countdown crew, what's up with the rookie reporting this week to training camp?
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: Do they do any training or are they just waiting for the vets to show up to start training?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't get why they come early.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: Install.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of it has to do with one, you've got to come in and you get your check in, your health check up, all those things, conditioning tests, you do all that.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: It gives you time,
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: in your rooms for install.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of it's mental reps for that first week for the rookies, you're going through teach tape.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: And so you'll show them place this is what I want you to do.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: So when we go through this drill, here's the play and what it looks like and what we want you to do.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: We don't want you to do this, we don't want you to do this.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's just kind of a hyper-focused fish camp.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: this is what it's going to be like.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: You go through weight workouts a lot.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: You go through conditioning workouts a lot and you go through a lot of meetings to get them up to par so that when the vets show up you're not stopping your conversation with vets to get a rookie up to speed.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: This is their time.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what it is.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you do some practice stuff, but it's much more drill work, one on one work.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have enough for team.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: You're not running through plays and all that stuff.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's install, walk through, mental reps, and just getting in shape and working out, getting used to the routine, so that when the vet show up, they're not completely lost.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully that answers your question, Niners now.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here, actually, I'm ready for the season.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: John, do we have too many tweeners at defensive end feels like the Niners M.O.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: minus Ramello height.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's good for a chameleon defense.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's good for the tweeners are good for stopping the run in your priority.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: Solla and it's also good for kind of this tweener size, whatever that we're going to get from where he more is.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'd like more speed edge rusher's having one.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of rough.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: If for mellow height struggles or gets injured, you have nobody else.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: You throw Jalen dug her down there if you have to.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the ideal way to build.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's really, really not, but with last year, you had to remember last year, you had four out of five defensive ends out.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, K on white was a necessity.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: was in necessity.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: You had to have them.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so you've got to great the defensive interim for the 40 hours as strong.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, if you're if your goal is to get 50 sacks in a season, this ain't it.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the way you build.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the way you build.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's really, really not.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: Gav right here.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think to get the rookies in early to see if they're injured and shape.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well said.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well said.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's going to be a great season man.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: uh... physicals for the pub guys should be starting today yet they're they're they're coming
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so that list is gonna come out and here's the funny thing is a player will be on the 49er's Publist for two days before we find out about it.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: They don't leak that stuff.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: They just don't.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, now we've got three more players on the count down.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: That was key on white coming at number 27 and man a huge fan favorite coming in at number 26 who I really really like but I don't like as much as most people right after this.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers rush road trip is going into it's sixth year with over 40 events at road games.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you are traveling to see the 49ers play this year, you gotta come party with us.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: And on top of that, we give games, trivia, giveaways.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: We partnered with tick pick this year.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is search 49ers rush on any of the tick pick sights, apps, you name it, and on top of all of that.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: best dressed, giveaways, autographed jerseys, kids are always included and get in for free with a ticketed adult.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times for select cities, we will have 49ers legends come out and you get to meet and greet them and get autographed.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: Vorrow Bowman, Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, Fred Warner, are all players that we have worked with in the past and trust me.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to build the 49ers community, you're traveling by yourself, we got you covered 49ers RushRotrip.com.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: All right, right here in the story is so he asks so we should hear about the extent of the Calilting contemporary soon not necessarily the Niners do not have to disclose that they could disclose it And it's probably going to come out at some point, but because that's an NFI meaning before the Niners acquired him
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have to disclose.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not there.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have to.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: So Kyle could be a but head and say like you you've actually heard him say it presser's like I don't think we have to like he'll look to the side to his guy.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be like I don't think we have to disclose that like he'll follow the rules.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know he don't want to get in trouble because if you miss represent injuries you get talk picks and things but Kyle will.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: keep that for himself, so like, do with that what you will.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: It might be waiting a while on Khalil Dinkin's report.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to be honest.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Big toe and thanks for the super chat, my man, is Bryson East in the run version of Houghton.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, interesting.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: I like Bryson.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: And here, let me look up, you know, we did our full.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: We had Bryson-Eason at number 78, 62323.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: So he's way bigger.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have anybody built like Bryson-Eason on this roster.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's pretty much an undersized defensive tackle group outside of Alfred Collins, Evan Anderson and Bryson-Eason.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your plug-a-rolls.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: You go look at kind of the way in which he played tackle for losses against the run combined to had 22 tackle for losses for an F sex that that tells you what he does.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's just the plugger guy and so I like the idea of Eastern the run version of Halton.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're just built completely different.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you see them next to each other, you look at Grace and Halton and you're like, dude, if this dude loses weight, you play tight in.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: You look at Bryce and he's in and you're just like, whoa, that dude's big.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big dude, man.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: There is no other position, Bryce and he's in to play.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: But that's a long-term development play.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: I would argue, Bryson Eason is competing with Evan Anderson for that practice squad spot to back up the plug-a-roll that Alfred Collins is gonna play.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, you will see how that is.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: Ninersino, what's up, man, John?
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Was training camp a lot different back in the early 2000s compared to now?
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: Shanna Han does a lot of the same things.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely a lot more contact the NFL as it continues and adds more games and whatever else Lesson less contact less and less pad days less and less practice time less and so it just gets smaller and smaller like that But shaddy hand runs a difficult practice not as difficult as the different Broncos they they are you know Natorius for some of the hardest practicing teams Tomlin was always one of those guys hardballs one of those guys the old hats and he read runs, you know a pretty hard practice
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: Shaddy hands up there.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't believe Shaddy hands differences.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a walkthrough coach.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: Walkthroughs are run throughs.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where he's got trouble in the past.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: So do with that.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: What you will number 26.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: He was number 19 on the list last year and again.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: I talked about he fell seven spots not anything on his own.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that last year's roster, CJ West, the fourth round rookie could be top 20, is a testament to last year versus this year.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: CJ West did nothing to remove down the list.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a way better roster.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: So the fact that CJ West was 19 last year on this roster countdown.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: kind of a testament to now you look at Grayson Haltson, fourth round rookie defensive tackle drafted pretty much in the exact same spot as CJ West was last year.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's 35 on the list this year, right?
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: So you look at the difference between last year, CJ West, fourth round rookie comes in 19 on the list this year, 26 after an impressive rookie campaign that just got better, better, better, better, better.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 99 we had him on the show he was awesome last year he was great 613 16 he's 23 years old younger than a lot of the rookies Comps DJ Jones athletic comps Aline McNeil went to Kent State and transferred to Indiana he was only there for one year But he was he was teammates with three other 49ers now Curtis Roark K-Lon Black Mikhail Kamara CJ West they were all in same damn team Niners love that Indiana pipeline
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: born and raised in Chicago went to Nazareth Academy, uh, which lot of football prospects come through there.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: CJ West played linebacker and led his team to a seven A state title as a junior.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: They were runners up as a senior three star recruit number 17 on ESPN committed to Kent State before transferring to Indiana to finish out his career.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's a slasher.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: Niners love that with their three techniques.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a slasher.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: You can play the plug a roll.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: But the three tech is where it should be, but he can play both.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: He probably has the most versatility of any defensive tackle on the Niners roster.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like OSA, three tech guaranteed, right?
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: Grace and Houghton, three tech guaranteed.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: Alfred Collins, Plugger, could play three tech.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: Bryson, Plugger, James Thompson, he could play both, but like CJ West is the guy with the most versatility in the defensive tech world.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: He could play Plugger, he could play three.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: He was a rush crush guy.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: He was, you know, I, I, I loved this guy coming out.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: Got trapped in the fourth round.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: One, 13th overall.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was the favorite picker by almost everybody from last draft class playing 14 games.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: No starts.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: 21 tackles.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: Two tackle for loss.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: Two sex nine hurries.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: Now the negative.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: finished with the 27.9 run defense great.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was bad in the run game miss tackles got pushed out of his gap a lot struggled with the double team.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: 27.9 is about as bad of a run great as you can get.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the big reason why you go trade for a guy like Oh, so Diggies you were because he's a two way player run and pass.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: Best moments of CJ West rookie year.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: The sack first fill up rivers.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: That Indianapolis game, which was so fun.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: Four pressures, one sack, one solo stop that game.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: He was awesome.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, play all sack, it is funny.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: We asked him.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, which player do you want to sack the most in the NFL?
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: He said, I don't care who the player is, whoever the quarterback is for the Seattle Seahawks.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, guess what?
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Only at two sacks.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: But he got a sack Sam Donald in the playoff game.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that was huge.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: So the one quarterback he wanted to sack he got.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of in trash time as the Niners are to get blown off.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: But still, you got a sack of the playoff sets huge.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's trending the way we want him to be.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: Could eventually just be a pass-down option only a defensive tackle CJ West, but man, his run game film was really really good in college it in the year So you're hoping that that's gonna take it up tick Got to improve the run game consistency stay it in this gap anchoring for a stubble teams He's got to get there the effort the motor all that's there
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: the fire hydrant as Robert Sala call to slow start to the season broke his thumb in week three that said it back big time but he started on the depth chart right now I think really really good player flashes for sure consistencies the issue played 358 snaps 24 on special teams made 1.8 million and the depth chart defensive tackle OSA and Alfred Collins those are your
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: Grace and Halton, Sebastian Valdez, Evan Anderson, James Thompson, Jr. Price and Eason.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's a young, stout quality defensive tackle room.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: Man, then they upgraded upgraded upgraded upgraded upgraded upgraded.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: Upgraded.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love it.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we got some fighting going in the chat.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: uh... jake up that's your problems with Kyle trying to keep things close to the vest outlandish for anyone to expect how to be forthcoming yeah he sees anything as an advantage he's gonna take it and i i'll continue to say this this is the axiom of the forty-year-old first podcast you can trust Kyle on almost everything can't trust him on anything to do with injuries just cannot
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: got to go with the track record.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: Shane, we are loaded at defensive tackle.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's a log jam 100 percent agree, but the way this team gets injured, it's okay.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, bid right here.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: Love CJ West personality.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome, man.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: Just salt to the earth.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: You can go back in Google.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: 40 hours rush.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: CJ West did a pull up.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: We had a great time with them.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: We had them on for about 20 minutes and yeah, it felt like it was like a four minute interview.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a fun guy to talk to personality just jumps awesome guy work ethics and credible and bit somebody loyalty, you know, he goes to bat for his guys.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that's huge.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: So big CJ West fan got to get better at the run game though.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: can't be a liability in the run game into defensive tackle.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's not good enough in the past rush game to just be a past rushing specialist.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: can't do that.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's not there yet.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: So that's CJ West.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to number 25.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: One of the most beloved 49ers in such a short amount of time.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: Number 25 is pretty easy whenever you're replacing Jake Moody.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: Any Piniero.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: We almost always on every countdown.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: 53, 52, 51.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's usually where we put
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: on the countdown.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do that with any P. You can't do it is the freaking legend.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: You could argue the best kicker in the NFL last year.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Very easily did miss some time.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: He went part of the countdown last year because he got signed after week one, whatever Jake Moody missed those kicks and gosh, just like just think about how you feel whenever I say Eddie
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, right?
- 48:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's optimism.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: First, pessimism, pessimism, ladies and gentlemen, Pepto Bizzle.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a word.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm good at English.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: Eddie Piniero just came in.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: It was just a breath of fresh air.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's amazing.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: And the nighter signed him, which was my number one thing.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted the Niners to do this offseason.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Just sign the damn kicker.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_01]: Be done with this bullshit.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: Don't draft kickers ever again.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can fight with the wall here, I know I am.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: The worst traffic in 49ers history is Eddie Pinearo.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, Jake Moody.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that he spent a third round pick on a kick of the highest draft kicker in the NFL, and he was so trash, so trash, head case, like you just look at him.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: And the talk to him, and you see what press coverage is like, dude, this dude is about to snap.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: I hope he has a great career in, you know, whatever else, but like, that was stupid.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: I understand there's first round picks.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: So you talk trade lands, you talk so many other picks.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: I get it, I get it, I get it, I get it.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: That pick could never have been worth it ever under any situation.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: It was just through that shit to the dogs.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, anyway, back to Eddie Pinierro, who is amazing.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: 5-11, 190s, 30 years old played at Florida.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: Born and raised in Miami, awesome background as father was Cuban native, his mother, Nicaraguan, man, very unique perspective, father moved to the United States when it was nine later became a pro soccer player for the Fort Lauderdale strikers.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_01]: Eddie went to Miami, sunset high school, was a four-time all-day county pick and soccer,
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: didn't pick up a football until senior year was a try out for eight plus schools and originally coming to Alabama before switching to local Florida went through seven teams in the NFL before finding his home with the 49ers.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's got to stick with it, man.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: Stick with it.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: Signed in September after they released Jake Moody, he's awesome, man.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, he's not perfect.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: He really, really, I saw it in the chat.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, here we go, feel the casual.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: Why does ADP struggle with X points?
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one weakness, the only negative to ADP is one, he's 30 years old.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: Two, man, 91.5% extra points.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's very low.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_01]: He 150 for 164, he's missed 14 extra points in his career in 84 games.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's not all with the Niners.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he missed four extra points for the Niners last year, 89% that's even lower than his career average, that's the negative for some reason, extra points and what's weird is, you look at him with fill goals that are kind of 30 to 30 yards and all that stuff, you know, the short fill goals, he's 30 for 30.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't make sense.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's better at a fill goal at the extra point link than he is the extra point.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: Does that make sense?
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's just kind of weird.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: But man, you look at what he did last year.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: He was perfect for fill goals.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: He missed one fill goal and it was comical.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: Because it was a 64 yarder before the half idiotapolis.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember it vividly.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: because I was like, all right, clocks running out.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is my time to run to the bathroom when we're drinking some beers.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: We had a good time in the indie.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna run to the bathroom real quick.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I was like, I'm just gonna miss these last couple plays I think they're gonna nail it out, go to the bathroom while we're back for kickoff.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in the bathroom.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: And you hear, I'm still in this from somebody on Twitter, what equates to a corn base note, that slap base, that poem.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you guys listen to the court, you know how I'm talking about.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: In the bathroom, and everybody's like, what the hell was that?
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like everybody's at the urinals?
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: And you just hear this poem.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's like, what the hell was that?
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because they didn't have the game on audio, another huge stadium pet peeve.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: Why would you not put the audio of the game and the bathrooms and the, come on, man.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: Simple thing.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: Levi's doesn't even do it at the top freaking sections.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody got to hear that thing.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's ridiculous.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_01]: But I run out.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_01]: Turns out, dude, the tip to the sixth four-yard fillicle hit the crossbar.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's the only fillicle he missed all the year.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_01]: You could argue the best kicker in the NFL, but what an on a roster week one missed two games with a hamstring was a hamstring, yeah hamstring strain missed a few weeks, but Tune was incredible man.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just unbelievable.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_01]: The night are signed up to a four year 17 million dollar deal, 10 million guaranteed.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: So you're like, all right, they paid them.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you go look at the kicker salaries.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's the 11th highest paid kicker.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: 11th highest you didn't even have to pay him based on his performance because he's been bounce around the NFL for so long.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_01]: So like he makes the same against the cap at less actually, then vedarian low.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care that you pay it a kicker.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: I would prefer to pay a kicker than ever ways to draft pick on a kicker ever ever ever again.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: There's no competition here.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_01]: He is the kicker for multiple years.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: He could go out there and miss now the problem that I do
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: Piniero is how do you live up to what you just did?
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: Where you didn't miss one, Phil.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do that.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: That is unsustainable.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: If he does that again, he'll be all pro.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be the all pro kicker for the next three years, right?
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: But that's not realness.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to miss kicks.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: But with what you're paying him, he can miss kicks and still be at a value contract wise.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's still 11th highest paid kicker at the height of the contract.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's only going to get better.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: Next year he'll be the 14th highest kicker.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_01]: Third year he'll be the 17th highest kicker which be about average.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: And he's not an average kicker.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to narrow up in the arrow.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, man.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_01]: He will still kick fire at 40.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take it, man.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, you hope he works on the extra points, but that has been a theme throughout his career, everywhere he's been.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's been rough.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it is nice to have NFL kicker.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_01]: I freaking love any money, dude.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this shave, Eddie, just give it a little tapy tap tap, tap, tapy, it's all in the hips.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll go easy on somebody else, Chubs, I have to give love it, nice reference there.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_01]: I feel great, happy Gilmore, maybe the show that I've watched the most in my life, me and my brother growing up man, whenever we would
- 55:32[SPEAKER_01]: not have anything to do or whatever we report or it's too hot outside or whatever.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_01]: Just put it on happy Gilmore and we coat the whole day and move you back and forth.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: And watch it with the kiddos and they held up.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, it was awesome.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_01]: All look at this Kim bro in the house.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, man?
- 55:48[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate the super chat.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_01]: John F. and Chapman is back.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: First time I could catch a couple minutes of the live show.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_01]: Finally got rushed with her all shakes to go away.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: Have to jump off, but hope the trip was good man.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Kim bro.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you generosity and man.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_01]: I miss you guys too.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like being away.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_01]: That was the longest
- 56:10[SPEAKER_01]: break.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_01]: I've ever taken, but it was worth it with the wife.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: We had a good time, but yeah, two shows today.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing every show from now on.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're not taking breaks.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_01]: I want to take a couple of days off next week, just for moving because they internet get set up and all that stuff.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'll look at this invader.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_01]: What about Bob?
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: It was probably the one I've watched the most.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_01]: Either that are playing strains, automobiles.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_01]: Baby steps, baby steps.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's all we
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: All right, 25, any piviero in our last player.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: On today's countdown, let me get a drink coffee just a little bit.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_01]: By far a Chapman crush, rush crush, whatever you want to say, I think this dude's starting week one.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_01]: Number 24, Markey Seagull, we were high on him last year.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_01]: We had him number 28 last year because I was like, dude, this dude's taking a giant brown job.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: He did, didn't hold on to it up and down rookie year to say the least, but Markey Seagull, number 24, I freaking love this dude, man.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_01]: Best tackler on the team, fastest safety by a mile, just fits what I think.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_01]: It means to be a 49er, he's only in the second year.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: 51199, where's Jersey number 36, 23 years old?
- 57:36[SPEAKER_01]: Went to North Dakota State, won a championship as a starting freakin' freshman.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: Then transfers to Kansas State for two years.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and by the way, two time team captain and there's only two years at Kansas State.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: You want physicality.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_01]: You want freakin' attitude on and off the field.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: Just leadership.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_01]: Do everything right all the time.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: Marky Seagulls that guy.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: Gotta get better in coverage.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's the negative.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_01]: Run game, ah, plays like a freaking linebacker, man.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: Gotta get better in coverage.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_01]: Now it was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Son of Calvin and Natasha Seagull.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: Dad's favorite team, Kniner's by the way.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's up, man.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: Talk to Calvin.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: I like Calvin.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_01]: play both football and ran track big family for siblings.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_01]: He was unranked coming out of high school, signed with North Dakota State.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_01]: One season with them, they won the National Championship, then transferred to Kansas State, voted team captain on the spot, showed up, team captain after a freaking spring football, dude one like he just fits it.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_01]: To it started as a freaking rookie last year.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he was awesome.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_01]: He was the MUFC all newcomer team in 2021. Business admin major.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners picked him in the fifth round 160.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_01]: He was one of the guys we predicted and probably should have squeezed shot the tweet where this guy will be drafted.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was one of our 10 out of 10 49ers fits.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_01]: He was a rush crush.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think I had a fourth round grade on him.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_01]: We got him in the fifth.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: Going into a second season, he was in the 11 games last year, started the first five.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: He got benched after the bucks game.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: We were in a deep cover three.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: He gave up a post for a touchdown and Shanahan lost his through them under the bus at a press conference.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: I hate when Shanahan does that, but he did this kid.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_01]: But that wasn't the end for him.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_01]: Lost his job.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_01]: Jaiya Brown comes in terrible.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_01]: Had great game against Carolina.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_01]: Jaiya Brown did.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_01]: Marky seagull gets bench doesn't throw fit.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, he turns into freaking probal caliper special teamer and becomes one of Brent Boyer's favorite specialties players.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it just at worst, Marky seagull is a lifelong 49er special teamer.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you keep this dude around for a long time.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: Niners don't pay safety.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: They let him walk.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_01]: But they will pay special teamers and this dude is on the cusp of being one of the best special teamers the 49ers have he's incredible.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now you look at his overall grades run to defense grade 65 he's incredible coverage grade 31.2 that you can't do that is safety you cannot just be a run guy now I would argue
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's so close, and it's one of those things if he's covered, he's open.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_01]: It teams got that tape of that.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, two, we're going to go after this rookie safety.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_01]: And he would be in great coverage on a tight end or a big wide receiver or whatever.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_01]: In quarterbacks, we'd still throw the ball out and even though it's quote unquote blanketed, you got to get some pass breakups.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_01]: You got to get some interceptions.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_01]: You got to force teams to not feel comfortable attacking.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_01]: And Marcus Hegel did not do that.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_01]: His rookie year.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just didn't do it.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_01]: Got to improve there.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_01]: Got to fast the safety in the room.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: You look at the safety's miss tackle rates.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_01]: We'll stop a 16% gyro brown 15.8% now.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_01]: Huge caveat to gyro browns miss tackles.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_01]: He runs himself.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_01]: He has such poor tackling angles.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: He'll run himself out of a play without touching the ball carrier.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_01]: And that doesn't count as missed tackles.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: I would put triers, Browns, missed tackle rate up around 22%.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not a missed tackle if you take such a poor angle, you can't even touch the ball carrier.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: Marquis Seagulls at nine.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's really good for safety.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_01]: And again, to put it in perspective run game, Marky Seagull played 400 snaps less than Jair Brown, you know, two to one snap ratio last year.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_01]: Only three less tackles, 47 tackles for Seagull, 50 for Jair Brown.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's an impact player in the run game, liability in the past game.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_01]: Can that change?
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_01]: What can Rehean Morris and Jerry Gray do with this young guy
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: That is one of the things I want to see.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_01]: Marky Siegel might not win the job this year.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he will.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_01]: At worst, Jaya Brown's last year is Ricky Dill.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_01]: He moves on, Siegel steps into the starting line-up next year, but special teams ace.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like he is in that category.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's on every single special teams units.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_01]: 36, you see him out there, watch him.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: So consistent.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: so it says a very fun player man.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_01]: He had the huge fourth downstop against the Rams.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_01]: That was probably the height.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_01]: You remember you had the Alfred Collins punch out, then the very next drive.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: fourth and one they go for at the Rams.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: Marky Seagull right in the hole with Fred Warner with Alfred Collins with the Amador LaNore like, but Marky Seagull was the guy that was huge.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: He had 13 tackles first the Rams and a pass break up that game.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like you do not win that game against the Rams without Marky Seagull.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then you got trash the next time you play the Rams.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_01]: Jaiya Brown was in there.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_01]: He got taken advantage of pretty badly.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_01]: I like this kid a lot.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_01]: I really really do and so he's just one of those guys that I just believe in I really really do and I think that he's gonna start
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_01]: we shall see.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_01]: We shall see.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_01]: Go through the chat.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_01]: Ben says, my cousin Vinnie for me is the most watched.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'll do such a great move.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_01]: What is a mute?
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_01]: You mean to tell me a great kid cooks faster on your stove.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm from Georgia.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_01]: So the great thing kind of hit home.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's what it is.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: Right here.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: Once like dude, yeah, I don't know why we took out seagull and put in brown last year.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_01]: She had a hand said you can't get beat on a cover three when you're in the deep middle guy on a post right can't Jaya Brown did three times later that year he didn't get pinched, but it's what it is.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_01]: Feel the catcher.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, hope Seagull proves past coverage with Morris and Jerry Gray is the coach.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if Vader when Vader speaks, I listen Seagull are best tackler.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's so good, man.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect form tackular form tackle.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_01]: All the time Shane fifth round magic love it love it love it love it
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_01]: Ben, Sequel was never out of position in coverage.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think he just needs confidence to play the ball.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's there, man.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see it.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see it.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Logan.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_01]: Sequel should have a really good year already, great tackler.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_01]: Just got to be in the best position in coverage.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's there, man.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_01]: It is there.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love Marky.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: See you.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_01]: This is the end of the first of two shows today.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be live with Larry around 715 730 Pacific time, but man, 49ers footballs here.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_01]: They are at the facility improving as we speak training camp is underway.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: Baby can't stop won't stop till next time.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_01]: Stay strong, faithful.
