“Are you serious? Are you serious about #research?” This question is seared into my brain, and still rings in my ears. I remember one of my advisors, asking me if “I was serious.” The truth is, I didn’t really understand what he meant, but I said yes. Doing research is a lifelong commitment, and it’s almost a religious affair. I can almost always spot people that are not taking the religion seriously, and they view it more as a game, or a way to advance their career.
