- 0:00Welcome to another interview on the Heavy Podcast, proudly sponsored by Road Not Fest
- 0:04Australia is less than a month away and while everyone is no doubt looking forward
- 0:07to seeing bands like Panchira, Lam've Gone and Disturbed the beauty of festivals like
- 0:11this is a band that might not be so well known yet. One of
- 0:15those bands is Brand of Sacrifice, who were playing in Australia for the first
- 0:18time. I am Kyle from Brand of Sacrifice, I am the singer and
- 0:25we'll be playing at Not First Australia. Very excited and I'm definitely looking forward
- 0:30to seeing Disturbed as well. I've never seen them yet. Wow. Yeah,
- 0:35that's a good one mate, Thanks for joining us today, Thanks for
- 0:38having me. Brand of Sacrifice are headed to Australia soon for Not Best Australia,
- 0:42which shows in Melbourne on March or twenty first, Sydney on March of
- 0:46twenty third, and Brisbane on March of twenty four. So I know it's
- 0:49still a month away, mate, bet are you're allowing yourself to get excited
- 0:51yet? Oh? I've been excited ever since we got the offer. Looking
- 0:57forward to it for sure. It's ever been out to Australia before, never
- 1:03never been in and the band has never been either, so it should be
- 1:07way to pluck the cherry. Yeah, so of course not first features Panterera,
- 1:15Disturbed, Lamb of God, The Hailstorm, who Asked Alexandria, and
- 1:19plenty more mate, So you've already given this away by staying disturbed. But
- 1:23is that who you're most looking forward to playing with? I've been looking forward
- 1:26to playing with them, Lamb of God and Panthera Legends two. As far
- 1:32as some of the newer bands, Diart his murder is great of course,
- 1:38and they're from Australia. We got to plug him, yes, and I
- 1:42haven't seen Wage War yet from America, so I'm looking forward to seeing them
- 1:46too. Brand to Sacrifice is still a relatively new band mate, haven't fallen
- 1:51back in twenty eighteen, So does it still sort of get dawnting for you
- 1:55a bit? What being backstage with all these bands or are you comfortable with
- 1:57it right now? I don't know if I'll ever be used to it,
- 2:00to be honest, it's definitely exciting and it's it's a whole new way to
- 2:07in take a show. I will say in the best way possible. So
- 2:14very happy to be there and looking forward to seeing these bands from beside the
- 2:19stage. Two. This is your first trip to Australia. As you said,
- 2:23so do you like ask people that are being here before what you expect
- 2:27and thin so that do you broadly just come and eat cold and type things
- 2:30as I I've asked a little bit about logistics and things like that, but
- 2:32I'm trying to just let things happen and experience things as they come. As
- 2:38you say, I just want to kind of live in the moment and take
- 2:44it all in. So I guess the big question, then, Mighty,
- 2:46is what can fans expect from a brand of sacrifice. They can expect a
- 2:51lot of aggression and they can expect a lot of fun. Get On the
- 2:53flip side of that, I guess, like, what do you expect from
- 2:55the crowds? Like? Do you got to expectations for people? What should
- 2:59you all? It doesn't matter, You're just going to get wolf anyway.
- 3:01I expect people to have a lot of fun with me, uh, and
- 3:07I will definitely direct people if I need to. But I think it seems
- 3:15like people are just as excited as us uh to get a little rowdy,
- 3:19and I hear Australia is very rowdy, so I guess. And you're also
- 3:24going to be doing too side shows with Lamb of God Want in Melbourne on
- 3:29March of twenty eighth and Want in Brismal on March and twenty five site.
- 3:31How different are those sets that the side show is going to be to the
- 3:34ones that don't faced. I think they'll be a little more sort of up
- 3:38close and personal, which is cool and uh, you know, I you
- 3:45can have a little bit more direct interaction with the crowd in a in a
- 3:47smaller room compared to a festival, so that'll be an interesting dynamic. But
- 3:53as far as you know, we're just going to be just as as relentless
- 3:58as the festival as well. It'll be the same level of aggression either way.
- 4:04How do you go to one selecting set lists of play at festivals?
- 4:08Why not? First do you guys are on dry and choose some of your
- 4:12more accessible songs. I guess speacause of now and that there's going to be
- 4:15a bigger cross section of people there, so you want to appeal to more
- 4:17people or do you just go out there and just give more your bangs?
- 4:21I think we've done kind of both, but I think I have more fun
- 4:29sort of shocking people. There will be some people there that are fans of
- 4:32the band already, but I also want to sort of leave leave someone something
- 4:40to think about for later, a new fan. You know. So I
- 4:44think some of the heavier and faster songs or will do that. And you
- 4:49know, some of our lighter songs and more melodic songs I think are great
- 4:53for like headline sets, but I think the heavier, more relentless UH sets
- 5:00are usually what we go for. We play festivals in shorter sets, and
- 5:05you're released the lightest Apaid between Death and Dreams last year. So how much
- 5:10are that one? Are you going to be playing half of it? Yeah?
- 5:15Which which the singles already get well, Actually, there's only one song
- 5:20that we're playing now that I think about it, on this set that we've
- 5:23just put together playing, we'll be playing one off there sing like last year,
- 5:30you also signed nicolear Blach Records might say, what sorts of things is
- 5:33that opened up for the band? You know, it's great to have a
- 5:38supportive team behind you. You know, Leo and I had sort of done
- 5:44all the admin behind the scenes work over the years, and we've got a
- 5:47couple of companies that are running as well on the side, so things were
- 5:51getting quite difficult to day to day. So it's great to have the support
- 5:59and and uh, you know, Nuclear Blast allows us to still be creative
- 6:05and do things the way we want to do them. They just give us
- 6:08the resources we need to do most efficiently, and so it's it's a great
- 6:14fit and couldn't be happier. And you also release a single, Purge of
- 6:17the same charm. So is that just a standalone single Mite or is it
- 6:20probably a big a picture that's a standalone single. But we are working on
- 6:24a whole record right now. Yeah, Carl, what can you tell us
- 6:27about that? We're going to try some things that we haven't done before.
- 6:32I know every band says that they put talking about a new record, but
- 6:38I can tell you this is very true. And it's not going to be
- 6:41that we turn into a butt rock band or something like that. It's not
- 6:44that it's going to be some influences that are different for a band in our
- 6:51style. And I think that's sort of what has got us to the place
- 6:55that we're at is doing things a little bit differently than the other guys.
- 6:58So well, I'm not going to push you too much so that gues you
- 7:00sound like you're relucted to talk about it. I'll have more to say in
- 7:06the future, for sure, that's all rightble friend. So what's next for
- 7:10Brand of Sacrifice after not percent getting that record all prepped is for sure what
- 7:15we're working on and then we're in the summertime. We're going to be doing
- 7:19European festivals, the first leg of them, and then there'll be some more
- 7:24touring in America, I believe after that, but to be announced. Well,
- 7:30thanks very much for you John today, Carl Brand of Sacrifice at in
- 7:32Austraate but not fased on March twenty first, twenty third, and twenty fourth,
- 7:36plus the two sides shows of Lamba Cord on March twentieth and twenty fifth,
- 7:41So we'll be seeing a hell of a lot more of you in a
- 7:43couple of weeks see you then, looking forward to it.
