- 1:48Wandering Corpse War Old Dutch Cleanser, famous park Chasing Dirt Present Nick Carter,
- 1:55famous part chasing Crime. Every week at this time, two great names are
- 2:07joined. As you postwar All Dutch Planter brings you one of the most resourceful
- 2:10and daring characters in all detective fiction, Nick Carter, Master Detective Nick.
- 2:23I tell you the kid did kill that cop. In all my years on
- 2:25the force, I never saw a more open and shutcase. I was afraid
- 2:30it was going to be like this, Mady. That's why I didn't want
- 2:31to give his mother any home. Oh it's a shame. He's everything she
- 2:35has in the world. That's the trouble, Passy. Every time you catch
- 2:38a crook, some innocent person has to suffer. Well, I'm sorry for
- 2:42his mother, sure, but I'm sorry for the dead man's widow too.
- 2:46And I'm not going to rest till I see that cop killing little punk on
- 2:49his way to the electric chair. Now for the case of the Wandering Corpse.
- 2:58Today's adventure starring Lawn Clark as Nick Carter. Lefty Adams was always a
- 3:02bright boy, the type who learned quickly. At twelve, he learned to
- 3:06steal bicycles, and that sent him to the state reformatory, where he learned
- 3:09a lot more about crime from older boys. Now, at seventeen, Lefty
- 3:15is convinced that only suckers work for a living. It's three o'clock in the
- 3:19morning on the lower east side of the city. A lone customer from Milligan's
- 3:22Bar and Grill is making his uncertain way homeward. As he passes a dark
- 3:27doorway, a figure quickly steps in behind him, locks his arm around his
- 3:30neck, and pulls him back into the shadow. Just keep quiet, Mackin.
- 3:36You eaker to get hurt, I said, keep quiet, inn.
- 3:42That's quite a roll you got there. Thanks. Look, I'm going to
- 3:46kunk you one, but I'm soft hot and see I'm lamanai here, but
- 3:50I got a rod. And if you let out one yip from coming back,
- 3:53you're gonna be good. Yeah, yeah, okay, hell on,
- 4:00suckl the dirty d I might have known you. He ain't gonna get me.
- 4:09Rosha. I got far to go now if I can only they say
- 4:25my boy left it shot that policeman, mister Carter. They say he didn't
- 4:29murder. I stop crying, Adam, Nick. If he possibly can,
- 4:33won't you Nick? I'd certainly liked you Passy if I could, but I
- 4:38got no money. But I'm like, it takes twenty years. Isn't the
- 4:42money, Missus Adams? The fact that Lefty ran away? Oh why wouldn't
- 4:46he run away with every cop in town looking for him, ready to shoot
- 4:48him on side? No, they wouldn't do that. Hurt too, that's
- 4:53what the papers say. Maybe he's dying. Why did you come to me?
- 4:58You knew Lefty when he was to go to your downtown boys club?
- 5:01Yes, I did. Well, then you know he's a good boy,
- 5:04No, Missus Adams, I don't. I don't think he's a really bad
- 5:08boy. But he was always a little defined and suspicious. Well, that's
- 5:11no crime. I know. I did what I could for him in the
- 5:14short time he was a member of the club, but he didn't stay long
- 5:16enough for me to straighten him out. He never meant any harm them other
- 5:21boys he got mixed up with afterward. No, that's usually the way left
- 5:25He has a pretty bad record, Missus Adams. Nick, why don't you
- 5:28at least investigate? I'll be glad to, but if I start, I'll
- 5:32have to go through with it. Whether he's innocent, or not. That's
- 5:35all I want, mister Carter, because I know he didn't do it,
- 5:40And of course, if I find where he's hiding, I'll have to turn
- 5:43him over to the police. Well that's the only way, all right,
- 5:46Then go ahead, Nick, I tell you the kid's guilty. In all
- 6:00my years on the force, I never saw a more open and shut case.
- 6:03Suck, Maddy, Will you tell me again just exactly what happened.
- 6:06It's a simple case, Nick. Officer O'Malley caught this Left the Atoms rolling
- 6:11a drunk. The kid ran and O'Malley warned him to stop, but he
- 6:14didn't, so O'Malley fired and hit him too. Then the kid turned and
- 6:17shot O'Malley with that homemade gun we found near the body. A homemade gun,
- 6:21Sergeant, Yeah, Patsy. A lot of these young hoodlums make their
- 6:25own out of scrap metal and stuff. And three people have identified the gun
- 6:30that killed O'Malley as his. Any fingerprints sure all belonging to Left the Atoms.
- 6:35There's almost positive proof. That's pretty strong evidence. And that's the only
- 6:40part of it, Nick. The drunk got a good look at Lefty when
- 6:43the kid ran under a street life, and he's identified his pictures. But
- 6:46he didn't actually see Lefty fire the shot, did he well, Patsy,
- 6:49considering the shape he was in, he ain't sure of anything except that the
- 6:54kid was left the atoms. Matter of fact, he remembers hearing only one
- 6:59shot, and though there were two, you mean because there was an empty
- 7:01cartridge and O'Malley's revolver. Sure, And we know the kid was wounded because
- 7:05there was blood on the pavement a half a block from O'Malley's body. We've
- 7:09sent out warnings to all doctors to watch for a seventeen year old boy with
- 7:14a bullet wound, probably in his left arm. But what makes you think
- 7:17he was hit in his left arm? Because, Patsy the fingerprints on his
- 7:21gun from his right hand. Uh huh, And Lefty is a self pool.
- 7:26Oh, I see what you mean. Left arm must have been injured.
- 7:30I'd have held the gun in his left hand. That's the way I
- 7:31figured. Oh, I was afraid it was going to be like this.
- 7:34That's why I didn't want to give left his mother any hope. It's a
- 7:38shame she has so much faith in him. That's the trouble. Patsy every
- 7:42time you catch a crook, some innocent person has to suffer. Well,
- 7:45I'm sorry for his mother, sure, but i'm sorry for O'Malley's widow too.
- 7:49And I'm not going to rest till I see that cop killing little punk
- 7:53on his way to the electric chair. Well, here's O'Malley's stuff, Nick,
- 8:07here's uniform, gone night stick, everything he had on him. Find
- 8:15if I look it over? No, no, go right ahead, sergeant,
- 8:18Yeah, Patsy, didn't you say that Officer O'Malley had been dead for
- 8:20about an hour when he was found. Yeah. When the drunk heard the
- 8:24shooting, he went for help, but he was so loopy it took him
- 8:26a long time to find another officer. Then he got lost trying to find
- 8:30the place again. I see, didn't anybody in the neighborhood hear the shot?
- 8:35Well, you see, nobody uses that street much at night. There's
- 8:37a factory along one side of the block, and the other side is all
- 8:39little stores and things. Only one person lives in the whole block. Oh,
- 8:43who's that? An old lady who lives in the back of a second
- 8:46hand store she runs. She heard the shot but didn't pay any attention.
- 8:50And Mary Yeah, didn't it rain shortly after midnight last night? Yeah,
- 8:54for a while. I should think the street would have been wet, but
- 8:58it was sort of. There's dust in the back of a Malley's uniform.
- 9:01He must have ducked in the doorway to get out of the rain and lean
- 9:03against a dirty wall. It could be well he didn't get it when he
- 9:07fell because he was lying on his face. Nick, there's something else about
- 9:11this coat. But O'Malley was shot on the left side of the chest.
- 9:16There's also a blood stain on the right shoulder of the goat. That's right.
- 9:20I wonder how that got there, search me. Do you think that
- 9:24second blood stain means anything? Nick, Well, I don't suppose so,
- 9:28but for the sake of the boy's mother, I'm not going to give up
- 9:30until I know the reasons for everything. Well, come on, Patsy,
- 9:31let's get on to Meats the street and give the scene of the crime the
- 9:33once over. Here's the second hand star man he was talking about. Let's
- 9:48go in for a minute. All right, Okay, we'll wait. Take
- 10:01your time. Yeah, I love second hands to his knee. Look,
- 10:03everything from jewelry to audmobile tired you pinking wolf is no job for a fat
- 10:11woman. Well what can I do for you? My name's Connor, and
- 10:16listen, miss Bowen, pleased to meet you. I'm sure hello. I
- 10:18I asked some questions about the shooting that took place near here last night.
- 10:20You heard the shots, didn't you? Yep? It woke me up.
- 10:24The window was open wide because of the first paint smell of the room.
- 10:26How many shots were there? Why? Pool? Was all? I heard?
- 10:31You? Sure? There were only two, not just one? But
- 10:33there was two, all right? Of course I didn't know it was guns.
- 10:37I thought it was some car backfiring. What time was it? Did
- 10:39you notice? Well, when the police was here, they told me it
- 10:43was about three, But I didn't look at the clock when I heard the
- 10:46shot, so well, I wouldn't know myself. Did you hear anything else?
- 10:48Yeah? Yeah, I heard somebody run down the street right after that.
- 10:54Huh. Well, thanks very much. Sorry we had to interrupt your
- 10:58painting. Oh that's all right, don't mind a bit. All right,
- 11:01Come on, Bessy, we have to make another stop in this neighborhood.
- 11:03Where is that Nick? This won't be pleasant. We better stop in and
- 11:07tell missus Adams what we learned from Maddie. This is the right block,
- 11:22Nick, must be only a few houses farther on. Better get back in
- 11:24the doorway quick, missus Adams. He just came out of that house down
- 11:28the street. Nothing odd about the way she's acting, looking over her shoulder,
- 11:33as if she were afraid of being followed. Let me see, are
- 11:37you all right? She acts scared to death over those bundles she's kidding.
- 11:43One of them must be clothed. She's also got something in a paper sack
- 11:46that might be foold. Think she's getting into a cab. Oh, I
- 11:52see a woman like missus Adams can't afford a cab except for something very important.
- 11:58Yep, thanks all right, Patty, right way too far. Follow
- 12:07that cap up ahead. It's a tip about in it for if you don't
- 12:09lose it all mister, you can think about it that suffolk right now.
- 12:15But I may be wrong, Patsy, but it looks to me as though
- 12:16left to me and got in touch with his mother, and that she's taking
- 12:20him food and clothing. But Nick, it would be awful to use that
- 12:22poor woman as a means of finding her boy and turning him over to the
- 12:28police. I know what, Patsy, But I said I was going to
- 12:31follow through on this case, even if what I find sends left you to
- 12:33the chair. Hey, mister, this stopping? Yeah, I see him.
- 12:46Hold back for a minute. Up, Jay, you're the boss.
- 12:50She's getting out and going into that old house. Nick, all right,
- 12:52River that is out of the same house. Right. Maybe I shouldn't feel
- 12:56this way, Nick, but I hope Lessie isn't there. I'd rather a
- 13:00police court him than us. There's nothing to be sentimental about. I know.
- 13:05Here's your ten spot driver and wait for us. Sure, mo on,
- 13:07Patsy, let's see where I left. His mother goes. Here's the
- 13:22room she wanted to do. Missus Adams. I hope you're wrong, Nick,
- 13:31Miss Adams, what what do you want? It's Nick Carter. Let
- 13:37me and missus Adams go away, please free what's the youth? Mom?
- 13:46Oh, Kate, so you found me now. I hope you're satisfied he
- 13:48didn't do it. Mister Carter. Couldn't have let you tell him he didn't
- 13:52kill any about it. I'm sorry, Mom, I can't. I didn't
- 13:56shoot that cop. Just like the papers the wound. Maybe we've been all
- 14:05wrong. I left these heartbroken mothers sobs convulsively. Nick and the seventeen year
- 14:13old criminal leave for headquarters. We'll see what happens in just a moment.
- 14:22Now back to the case of a Wandering corpse Today's adventure with Nick Carter.
- 14:26Lefty Adam has admitted killing Officer O'Malley, but Nick still wants to clear up
- 14:31a few points. So after delivering Lefty to headquarters and waiting while a doctor
- 14:35attended to Lefty's wound, he now questions Lefty in his cell, how are
- 14:39you feeling, Lefty? Docts a fixture up? All right? Yeah?
- 14:43Sure, I didn't expect to find you with a head wound. There wasn't
- 14:46nothing. The bullet just creased me. From what I understand, it was
- 14:50a pretty deep crease. Now, the fraction of an inch of the right
- 14:52and you wouldn't be here. I couldn't. O'Malley is shot straighter. Why
- 14:56couldn't it have been me instead of him? I never wanted to kill nobody?
- 15:00And why did you carry a gun? All the other guys had a
- 15:03knife for a roden. I wanted to show him I was tough too.
- 15:07Fifty Were you mixed up with the gang? No, there's been a lot
- 15:11of petty crime in your neighborhood lately, stick up, smugging, automobile stripped,
- 15:16and I looked as though there might be some kind of organization behind it.
- 15:18I don't know what you're talking about. All right, let's talk about
- 15:22officer O'Malley. I said I shot him, didn't I? What more do
- 15:26you want? There are a couple of things I don't understand. I ain't
- 15:28say enough until I see my lawyer. They haven't appointed anyone to defend you
- 15:31yet, have they? They don't have to. I'm getting JB. Fenton.
- 15:35JB. Fenton, you find he costs a lot of money. Lefty,
- 15:39I'll get the dough, all right. I got friends. See,
- 15:43friends would be willing to put up five or ten thousand dollars maybe more?
- 15:48Sure? Why not? Well, I didn't know you traveled in circles like
- 15:54that. Look, mister Carter, will you leave me along? Please?
- 15:56Ain't I got enough in my mind? I'm crying around out me knowing I
- 16:00killed a guy. It's enough to drive a guy nuts without without having to
- 16:04keep talking about it. All right, all right, left me. There's
- 16:07a couple more questions, and I'll leave you're a left handed, aren't you
- 16:11sure? What do you think they call me lefty for? And why did
- 16:15you hold a gun on your right hand when you shadow Malley? I didn't.
- 16:19I couldn't have. I couldn't hit nothing with my right hand, with
- 16:22the fingerprints on that gun from your right hand, quin nagging at me when
- 16:26you how do I know why I've done it? I shot him, but
- 16:29I don't know how it happened. There was a million skyrockets going off inside
- 16:32my head. You mean from the bullet wound. Yeah, I blacked out.
- 16:34Maybe all I remember is him chasing me into the What are you going
- 16:40to say? Nothing? Leave me alone, will you? I either want
- 16:45to talk about it, left don't I killed a guy, didn't that?
- 16:48That's all I know? Now get out of here and let me alone.
- 16:51Just let me alone. Think I've been waiting here in this taxic for over
- 17:03an hour. I thought you were never coming, no longer than I expected.
- 17:07Patsy hold Downtown driver a corner of fourth and fifth. Right, did
- 17:11you find out anything I found out? That's left is lying. He's lying
- 17:15about what. I'm not sure. It's almost as if he were taking the
- 17:18blame to protect somebody else what he wouldn't do that. I wouldn't think so
- 17:22either, But that's the way it looks. Another thing it doesn't seem to
- 17:25be the actual shooting is lying about. What is it? Then? Oh?
- 17:27I don't know, Patsy, it doesn't make sense. There's something wrong
- 17:30somewhere. Hey, mister, was that kid we brought down the clink,
- 17:33the one that bumped the cop last night? Half? Yes, he's the
- 17:37one. You know. What's a funny thing. I almost seen that,
- 17:40frakus? What do you mean? You're almost what happened in my territory?
- 17:44You know I picked you up only a couple of clocks from there. Yes,
- 17:45I know? Well, Well, like I was saying, I drove
- 17:48through the straight where the kid killed a cop about half an hour before and
- 17:52half of about three thirty at once. What sure the papers in the CoP's
- 17:56body was found about four o'clock and I went through the out half an hour
- 18:00before you Sure you drove through that same block on Meetin Street this morning at
- 18:03three thirty. Sure, I'm sure I picked up a fair right after that,
- 18:07and I got it done in my book three thirty seven. Maybe your
- 18:11watch was wrong, ah nuts, just ticking them, and he'd been off
- 18:12two minutes in ten years. What are you so sorry about? Regard It
- 18:17was four o'clock when they found the body, but the killing took place at
- 18:19three. Ah, you are nuts. If that cop was laying dead in
- 18:22the street, I'd have seen him, wouldn't I hang, You'll bet you
- 18:25would. Turn around. Driver, we're going back to headquarters. But the
- 18:37body must have been there at three point thirty, Nick. He was shot
- 18:41at three, and corpses don't go wandering around while I'm waiting for somebody to
- 18:45find them. That's why I'm taking another look at O'Malley's coat, Maddy.
- 18:48I hope it'll tell us where the body really was, just because there's a
- 18:52little dust on the back of it. Not entirely mad. He't take another
- 18:56look at this stain on the right shoulder on Nick. We've talked about that
- 18:59before. I admit it's a funny place for a blood stain when he was
- 19:03shot on the other side. Look, you'll see that the bloodstain isn't dried
- 19:06blood at all on this dark blue cloth. It's hard to tell the difference,
- 19:08but that particular stain is paint. Many brown paint whoa if it ain't,
- 19:26mister Carter and miss bowed again. Oh, come right in, thank
- 19:30you. You're fixing the place up, missus tremmon. Yeah, like they
- 19:33say, woman's work has never done you. All these shelves clear up to
- 19:37the ceiling is nice all right, but oh they was never made to hold
- 19:40a heavy junk that collects in the second hand store today. Are a carpenter
- 19:44instead of the painter? Well, I just thought I'd putting a couple of
- 19:47nails to hold him to the wall. You know, these shelves is ever
- 19:49to pip over? It'd be worse than sippergeese closet. Where does all this
- 19:53stuff come from? Well, people bring it in, sell up to me
- 19:57like in any second hand store, boys like Lefty Adams. I don't get
- 20:03you. Wonder what would happen, missus trimandt if the police checked your stock
- 20:07against the list of watches and auto accessories and other things that have been stolen
- 20:10in this neighborhood lately. Oh, if you're insinuate, I think they'd find
- 20:12out that you've been acting as a receiver. Are stolen goods for a gang
- 20:15of young hoodlands. You ain't got no rights? Talk to me like that.
- 20:18Why else would Lefty Adams come here to hide when the police were after
- 20:19him. He never did that, Oh yes he did, and you let
- 20:22him in. An officer Omale was shot here in this door, not outside
- 20:25on the street. He was not. I don't know anything about it.
- 20:26You can't get away with it, missus Trimmitt. When O'Malley fell, the
- 20:30back of his coat picked up dust from your floor. Oh that don't be.
- 20:33Nothing could have got that dust any place if there was something else on
- 20:37his coat, paint, the fresh paint you put on your walls only a
- 20:38few hours before. I Oh, okay, I'll tell you the truth.
- 20:45It did happen in here. When the kid come knocking on the door,
- 20:48I thought he'd been in an accident, blood on his face and everything.
- 20:51So well, naturally, I'll let him in. Go on. Then when
- 20:55the cop come combusted in after room, though the boy grabbed a gun out
- 20:57of his pocketing. He was very interesting story, Missus Trimmtt. But I
- 21:02have a better version. Lefty came here because you were partners with ever a
- 21:06young thief in the neighborhood buying the things they stole. I know they were
- 21:11left He fainted as soon as you let him in. You were afraid of
- 21:12Melle would know why he came to you, So when he followed Lefty inside,
- 21:15you shot him with a boy's gun while Lefty himself was unconscious. I
- 21:18ain't my fingerprints, it's on the gun. It's his. That'll prove who
- 21:22does. How did you know there were any finnefgrants? Well, I'll tell
- 21:25you how you know because after you killed Amelle, you wiped off the gun,
- 21:29pressed it into left his hand, and when he came to told him
- 21:30he'd done the killing. You can't prove that. You can't prove a thing.
- 21:33Oh yes I can, because you made a very serious mistake. Missus
- 21:37Trimmitt. You put the prince have Lefty's right hand on that gun. If
- 21:41he'd actually done the shooting, he'd have used his left. I I well,
- 21:48you see, mister Carr, you look at you push your hay ain't
- 21:56hurt? Are you? No? No? Thanks to you. I got
- 22:00a gun, sure I have for I push themselves over. Keep you too
- 22:03busy long enough for me to get it. Now, mister just touss your
- 22:07rod over to the opposite side of the room, all right, anything to
- 22:11oblige a lady, I Remember you're still trapped in this door with us.
- 22:17The factory across the street is changing shifts, and the street is full of
- 22:19people. I think you can get through that crowd without being caught. Who
- 22:23said I was leaving? Go on, both of you get to the back
- 22:27of a store. Say what do you think you're doing well, dearie.
- 22:32There's a seller to this joint that ought to be darn near sound proof.
- 22:36We all three are going down there, but I'm the only one that's coming
- 22:41back. Now get moving. At the point of a gun, Nick and
- 22:48Patsy move slowly toward the door of the cellar, which Missus Trimtt intends to
- 22:52be their grave. We'll see what happens in just a moment. Now for
- 23:02the conclusion of the case of the Wandering Corpse, Today's adventure with Nick Carter.
- 23:07Nick and Patsy are slowly walking toward the rear of Missus Trimmitt's second hand
- 23:11store, with Missus Trimmitt right behind them a revolver in her hand. Nay,
- 23:15once we get into that basement, we won't have a chance. You
- 23:18can do something to distract your attention for a minute. Put off a whispering
- 23:22and go on down those steps. Please don't rush us. I stood shut
- 23:26up now, Oh I caught my e I'll give it to you my arm
- 23:36the phone, all right, Patsy, I've got the gun. You pretty
- 23:42right. You broke my arm. Knock me down the stair. That the
- 23:47same Missus trimmontt But we'll see that you get the very best medical attention in
- 23:52the prison hospital. Nick, what gave you the idea that missus Trimmitt killed
- 24:07Officer o'mealy that taxi driver, Patsy huh when he said the body wasn't lying
- 24:12in the street at three point thirty, half an hour after o'melly was shot.
- 24:15As Matty said, a corpse just doesn't go wandering around. Yeah,
- 24:19so I figured the killing must have taken place somewhere else. But what made
- 24:22you decide had happened to missus Trimmitt's store because she was the only person who
- 24:26lived in the block and therefore the only person who could have been there at
- 24:30that time of night. So that's the only place left he could have found
- 24:33shelter. That's right. And I also remember that other stain on o'melly's coat,
- 24:38and the brown paint Missus Trimmot had been using on her walls. So
- 24:41you checked and found was paint on the coat, right, and then everything
- 24:45fell into place. All that junk in her store, the same type of
- 24:48things that have been stolen in the neighborhood. Provided me with a reason why
- 24:52Lefty might have thought she'd help him. Well, he went to her because
- 24:55she was a well sort of partner in crime. Exactly assume that it was
- 25:00easy to reconstruct the whole thing. I see. Lefty admitted that he'd passed
- 25:03out and didn't remember shooting the officer. Then there was the fact that the
- 25:07fingerprints and the gun were from his right hand that suggested a frame up.
- 25:11I suppose missus Trimmtt dragged the body out into the street with Lefty's help.
- 25:15Of course, she also bribed him into saying the murder happened out in the
- 25:18street by promising to pay for the best lawyer in town in case he were
- 25:22caught. So that's why I didn't want to bring her name into it.
- 25:26By the way, what's going to happen to Lefty? Oh, I'm trying
- 25:29to get him paroled to my custody. The new thing. Lefty has really
- 25:33learned a lesson this time. I do stromised to go straight from now on,
- 25:37and I believe him. Well, I'm glad for his mother's sake as
- 25:41well as his own, so am I patsy. Oh. Incidentally, that
- 25:45was a beautiful fall you took down those cellar steps. You should have been
- 25:48a stunt girl for the movies. Well, thanks Nick, And that reminds
- 25:51me I have a little expense account here. Oh what for for one dollar
- 25:55and twenty five cents the price of one large sized bottle of Linien? And
- 26:11now, Nick, will you tell us something about the adventure that new post
- 26:14war old Dutch cleanser is going to bring us next week. Above, For
- 26:15one thing, it's a case that really started thirteen hundred years ago in China
- 26:21during the Tang dynasty, when two Chinese families started a feud over a dagger.
- 26:26Must have been a very unusual weapon. It certainly was very unusual and
- 26:30very deadly, as Nick and I almost discovered the hard way. Well,
- 26:33it sounds like a case that promises lots of excitement, to say the least.
- 26:37What do you call the adventure, Nick? I call it the case
- 26:40of the quang lea Dagger. Nick Carter, Master Detective is presented each week
- 26:55at this time by the Cutta Heat Packing Company. It is produced and directed
- 26:59by Jack McGrath and is copyrighted by Streeden Smith Publications Incorporated. Charlotte Manson is
- 27:04featured as Patsy. Mattie was played by Ed Latimer. Today's script was written
- 27:08by Jim Parsons. Original music is played by Henry Silvern. This program is
- 27:14fictional and any resemblance to actual persons living or dead is purely coincidental. And
- 27:19don't forget to read the Nick Carter story on murderous guns in the current Black
- 27:25Mask magazine. One of the popular fiction group, Bob Martin speaking, this
- 27:41is the mutual Broadcasting system. Welcome back. Well, a very solid case.
- 27:52I got a sense of deja vu, but we had not actually played
- 27:56that episode. It was one that did air back when Lenux was the sponsor,
- 28:03back in nineteen forty six, So this is one where there's a case
- 28:07of most likely script preuse. But two years in radio is certainly a long
- 28:15time. But we hadn't heard this one before, and I'm glad it had
- 28:18a very good, solid opening and some nice clothes along the way to inform
- 28:26the mystery, as well as just a few nice angles and that focus on
- 28:32juvenile delinquency, which was often such a big thing with Nick Carter. We
- 28:36even got to see Patsy save the day, though it was by falling.
- 28:40Falling is a skill if you can do it right, that is no mean
- 28:45feat. I respect anybody who can do that right. Because you couldn't count
- 28:49on me at all to fall properly in an emergency. Probably one of those
- 28:56skills I should work about at any rate that will do it for today.
- 29:00Join us back here tomorrow for yours truly, Johnny Dollar, and then be
