Miami PD’s Mental Health Co-Responder | Joplin News
Miami PD is revolutionizing mental health responses by deploying co-responder Sarah Lopez, a mental health expert since age 17, to ride alongside officers in real-time. This field-based partnership with Grand Mental Health helps officers recognize non-criminal crises and offers vital support where it’s needed most — turning tense calls into compassionate interventions. With plans to expand through new grants, this innovative model is reshaping how law enforcement connects with vulnerable communities.
