- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: The liberal globalist order is on its brink and awakening a new conservative age.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Steve Turley joined me every day as we discover answers to today's toughest challenges and explore the re-bondalization of conservative civilization.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: This is Turley Talks.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Gavin Newsons, California is experiencing yet another mass exodus, but this time it's not residents or businesses.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's the very industry that moves 70% of America's freight without which every grocery store shelf empties.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: Every hospital runs out of supplies and every business grinds to a halt within days.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: As we speak, something is happening in California that will send shockwaves throughout the entire American economy and it's already writing Gavin Newsom's political obituary.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: Meet Assembly Bill V signed by Governor Newsom back in 2019.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Now on paper, it sounds noble, it's stated goal is to protect workers from exploitation.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: In reality, it's a sledgehammer that destroys independent truckers.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: The law uses what's called the ABC test.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: that's basically three tests that the government uses to decide if you're an independent contractor or an employee.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the first two are easy.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: They basically involve truckers proving that they control their own schedules, that they're free from another company's control, that they run their own established businesses in the light.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's the third test.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's a trap.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: The third test is an impossible absurdity.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: Under AB5, California looks at the relationship between the truck driver, the independent driver who owns his own rig, and the contract that that driver signs with what's called a carrier, like Landstar Swift, you know, to haul loads for that carrier.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: So the business relationship is basically the carrier finds the freight and the trucker moves it.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: But under AB5, California looks at that relationship and demands that the trucker has to be contracted to do something that's outside the usual course of the carrier company's business.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: The law actually states that in order for a trucker to prove that they're independent, they have to be contracted by a carrier company to do things that are outside the carrier company's normal course of operations.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: But of course, the absurdity in that is that the carrier's normal business is hauling freight.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: And since the trucker is hauling freight because that's what truckers do, they're doing the carrier's core business, which means that they flunk the test and now have to be reclassified as an employee.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: And apparently there's no way around it.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: The law doesn't say, you know, outside the usual course of the trucker's business, it says outside the usual course of the hiring companies, business and the hiring companies
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: And so all truckers now lose their independent status under this new law, but here's where the trap is sprung.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: What that loss of independence does is it crushes the carrier companies that were hiring the independent truckers in the first place because they're now forced to reclassify them as their own employees.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: they have to absorb all the payroll taxes, the health insurance, the work comp costs, so what this law does is it forces carrier companies to an effect become unionized.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's literally forced unionization.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, most carrier companies simply can't afford that.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: And so, the California Trucking Association fought this for four and a half years, remember this was signed back in 2019, but to no avail.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: They just surrendered, and as of January 1st, the law has gone into effect, and that's when the real world consequences began.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Landstar and National Freight Heavyweight
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: Now, keep in mind a national carrier sent urgent advisories to its California owned operators.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: The message was not subtle, leave, leave, relocate out of California, or you cannot work with us as an independent contractor.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're simply not going to cover those kinds of costs.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Bottom line period full stop is our auto-pens Supreme Court justice would say note this wasn't a warning about future enforcement this wasn't a notice on what these carriers projected would happen and if you did This carrier is cutting ties now as we speak
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Carrier companies, and remember, they're all national.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're all outside of California.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: Carrier companies are pulling California loads off their boards and telling their drivers to leave the state if they want to continue to contract with them.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: And so as a result, California drivers who've invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in their own rigs, often financed through family savings,
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: The industry isn't waiting for the first enforcement letter, which, again, went into effect on January 1st.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Risk managers made the calculation.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's better to lose California's business now than face years of backpair six figure penalties later.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: And so as a result, all told, as many as 70,000 truckers could be leaving the state.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Which, of course, would be catastrophic.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, truckers are the economic lifeblood of every economy from rural towns to major cities delivering everything from groceries to medical supplies while generating tax revenue that fund schools, roads, emergency services, when truckers abandon a region, urban centers face empty shells, and price spikes just as quickly as small towns,
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: And to make matters even worse, while Newsom and the lunatic liberals in Sacramento are forcing legal license owner operators to reclassify his employees or leave the state, effectively pushing them out of business.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: At the very same time, these very same lunatic lawmakers have no problem issuing commercial driver's licenses to illegal migrants who entered the country and lawfully.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: You remember that Indian national joshan pre-sing who crossed the border illegally back in 2022.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: He obtained a California commercial license and then up in a fatal car crash, a killed three people.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: While allegedly driving under the influence.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, Florida is now suing California.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I recall the crash was in Florida.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Florida officials are suing California for ignoring federal law and giving out commercial drivers licenses to illegal migrants.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the political insanity rights itself
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: California uses AB5 to crack down on legal, independent truckers while it's licensing policies allow illegal migrants to obtain commercial licenses.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Whether this is intentional or just bureaucratic dysfunction, I mean the optics are devastating.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: legal drivers are forced out while others who shouldn't be on the road in the first place are all licensed to drive 80,000 pound rigs.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: But all of this is just the tip of the iceberg.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: The most devastating impact on California's economy is happening literally below the surface, and it promises to destroy the political future of their feckless governor.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: wait until you see this.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: But first, it is the new year and that means one thing, of course, resolutions, people are setting big goals right now.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: Time to lose weight, right?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Time to eat better, feel better, have more energy, finally feel like yourself again.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: But let's be honest, most people make the same resolutions every year and by February they're frustrated because nothing's really changed.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: And here's why, most people try to start with discipline, but they skip the foundation because your gut controls everything.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: If your gut is inflamed, you're going to feel it everywhere.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: Low energy.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: cravings that can't control brain fog, stubborn weight, frequent sickness, mood swings, and just a body that won't bounce back like it should.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: So, if you're serious about a real reset this year, don't start with motivation, start with your gut, and Kim Chi I is one of the simplest ways to do that.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: Kim Chi I is a daily capsule built around one of the most extreme
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: densively studied fermented foods in the world.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Kimchi has been shown to support healthy digestion, strength in the gut barrier, reduce inflammation, restore microbial balance, and help your body flush out toxins it's exposed to and this is what I like so much about it.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's not extreme, it's not a crash diet.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's one daily habit that supports your body from the inside out.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: This recent study showed consumption of kimchi reduces body fat by 31.8% at lowers BMI and promotes smaller wastelands.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: So if your new year's goal is to feel lighter, cleaner, sharper, more energized, start with your foundation.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Kimchi 1.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: For limited time only, take advantage of our new year's special by calling 888-597
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: zero two three three for up to 50% off plus free shipping.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, the first 100 colors will also receive a free special New Year's gift.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that's triplet 597 zero two three three.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: Don't wait.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: Make 2026 the year.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: You turn your health around.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what things get really catastrophic.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: California is simultaneously destroying its fuel infrastructure.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: On January 1st, a state law requiring gas stations to upgrade underground storage tanks took full effect.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Stations at can of for the $2 million per site upgrade that's mandated by the California government are being forced to shut down.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: Now while the exact statewide number is still being verified, the trend is clear.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: hundreds of stations, especially family run roll locations are locking their pumps for good.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: And so when a trucker does find a load, they now face the real possibility of running dry in the middle of nowhere.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: And what about California's refineries?
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Well, California just lost another 139,000 barrels per day when Philip 66 shut down its LA facility.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: Valera's Benisha refinery, another 145,000 barrels per day, closes in April of this year.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's over 17% of the state's refining capacity.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: God, God, and less than a year,
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: So let's connect the dots here.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: 70,000 truckers are being forced out.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Fuel stations are disappearing.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Refineries are closing.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: The ports of L.A. and Long Beach handle 40% of America's container imports.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: When trucks and fuel vanished together, shortages and delays become the new normal.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: Containers are already stacking higher and terminal yards as fewer trucks arrive.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Shipping companies are quietly
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't a theory.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's not ideology.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's economics playing out in real time, container by container, mild by mild.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: The true cost of these policies is only beginning to surface for Californians who unfortunately voted for this absurdity.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: When you combine AB5S attack on independent truckers with refinery closures and gas station shutdowns,
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get a, quote, worker protection victory.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: You get a self-inflicted supply chain catastrophe.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: And here's what the politicians won't tell you.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Every policy has a price.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right, California chose to prioritize union politics over economic reality.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now the entire country will pay for it at the pump at the grocery store and with empty shelves.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: And there's no way the Gavin Newsom who hopes to be president one day can outrun that.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: In the end, California is a text book example for why blue states are literally in an inescapable doom loop, leftwing policies make life unbearable forcing residents and businesses to leave, leaving behind only the more radical lunatic fringe who inflict more leftwing policies that make life more unbearable and the doom loop spins out of control.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: The vast majority of the country is flourishing, leaving these blue-state catastrophes behind.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: The trucks that keep America running are leaving California and they're not coming back.
