- 0:03>> bug hive. What's up, dog? How you doing?
- 0:06>> I'm doing great. Thanks for having me.
- 0:07>> Thanks for coming on. You're you're
- 0:09slurping.
- 0:09>> Mhm.
- 0:10>> What are you slurping on?
- 0:11>> Um some sort of kale smoothie. I don't
- 0:13know. My cousin is a drummer and he's
- 0:15been touring for a long time. And I've
- 0:17just begun to tour and I asked him for
- 0:18advice of just like staying healthy on
- 0:20the road and he goes, "Salads and
- 0:21smoothies." And I was like, "I heard
- 0:22smoothies. [laughter]
- 0:24Salad's gross."
- 0:25>> Dude, it's true. I'm sure I'm sure
- 0:26you've noticed like you go to a town and
- 0:28they're like, "Uh, you got to try our
- 0:30local thing. It's the slop pork
- 0:32sandwich. It's [laughter] sloppin pork."
- 0:35>> Here in Kansas City, we do the [ __ ]
- 0:37burger. You're like, "Oh, yes."
- 0:38>> No, they literally do. Like Kansas City,
- 0:41they literally like you have every night
- 0:42they're like try they're like go to this
- 0:44barbecue place and they go to this one
- 0:46and I I genuinely I got like a spinach
- 0:48thing or something. I was at the Kansas.
- 0:50I was like, "Sorry,
- 0:51>> I can't eat like it's vacation Saturday
- 0:53every day at [laughter] 5. I'm 32. I'm
- 0:55going to pay a price.
- 0:56>> I'm also 32.
- 0:57>> Oh, heck yeah. Nice.
- 0:59>> 94. What? Uh or 94? 95?
- 1:00>> Yep. 94.
- 1:01>> What? Uh what's your birthday?
- 1:02>> February.
- 1:03>> June 3rd is mine.
- 1:04>> Whoa. Cool. Nice. We probably have
- 1:06similar Halo playing [laughter]
- 1:08experiences.
- 1:10>> Specific. Honestly, that's a question I
- 1:12ask people sometimes is like, "What year
- 1:14and what game were you the best at?" And
- 1:16for me, it's probably Halo 3 2011.
- 1:19>> Yes, dude. Yes. Halo 3 2011. That was
- 1:22big for me. Uh,
- 1:23>> like what wine vintage? You have to pop
- 1:25open like a bottle of like Benny as a
- 1:27gamer. When were you
- 1:28>> Smash Brother Smash Brothers Melee for
- 1:30sure.
- 1:31>> Uh, a Samis.
- 1:33>> Yeah.
- 1:34>> Hell yeah.
- 1:34>> I love awesome Ganondorf. I mean, um,
- 1:36well, of that era, it would have been
- 1:38Melee and then I played a lot of like
- 1:40Brawl in College and then, you know what
- 1:41I mean?
- 1:42>> Yeah. From like Smash 4 and and Ultimate
- 1:44is probably what I've played the most.
- 1:45And I'm just a really annoying tune
- 1:46link. And same as too, just spamming
- 1:48projectiles just like nope, can't get
- 1:49near me. You got to get through my
- 1:50little It feels like being like a a boss
- 1:52basically in terms of like you just have
- 1:54a bunch of little traps you're putting
- 1:55out and just making it hard for them to
- 1:56just exist.
- 1:57>> You said Ton Link for which one?
- 1:58>> Uh Smash for the Wii U one and and
- 2:01Ultimate is what I've played the most.
- 2:02But yeah, a little bit of Melee back in
- 2:03the day.
- 2:04>> Cool. So we now we've weeded out a lot
- 2:06of the listeners. [laughter]
- 2:09>> Now it's narrowing down to guys who are
- 2:11exactly like us. [laughter] It's like a
- 2:13filtering to event diagram. Yeah, I was
- 2:15worried about that with my live shows
- 2:17cuz like Instagram tells me my audience
- 2:18is like a very high percentage of male.
- 2:20But I've been very stoked that there's a
- 2:21lot of like girls and gays and stuff in
- 2:23my shows, which is awesome. But they're
- 2:24like girls and gays that are like me and
- 2:26they're like, "Can you sign the sign of
- 2:27my gaming PC?" Like someone brought the
- 2:30whole the piece of glass with their like
- 2:31furry stickers on it and stuff. I was
- 2:33like, "Oh, this is from home. Nice."
- 2:34[laughter]
- 2:34>> That's awesome. I love that. I also have
- 2:36the Instagram thing that says like it's
- 2:38I've got 85% male audience. Um, no way.
- 2:41Well, the show well the thing is the
- 2:43live shows people are bringing their
- 2:45partners or their friends and so I do
- 2:47think that like there's typically yeah
- 2:49one no way two I think a bunch of them
- 2:51have since transitioned
- 2:53>> uh since giving Instagram that initial
- 2:55data it only says male or female
- 2:57>> right
- 2:57>> and there's no
- 2:58>> that's the only option on Instagram
- 3:00>> wild
- 3:00>> I [laughter] know yeah
- 3:01>> I also I take I've been taking a moment
- 3:03lately in my shows to be like okay who's
- 3:05listened to my stuff before people cheer
- 3:06and I go okay who makes noise if someone
- 3:08brought you to this and just find out
- 3:10who the plus ones
- 3:11>> [laughter]
- 3:11>> And I take a moment to like acknowledge
- 3:12I'm like, "Thank you for listening to
- 3:14this into the car with your boyfriend. I
- 3:15appreciate you." My favorite is when
- 3:17it's like girl that's jamming and
- 3:18boyfriend who hasn't seen this side of
- 3:20her before and he's just like, "Oh my
- 3:21god, [laughter]
- 3:23>> that's fun. I love that." Yes. You ever
- 3:25have kids come?
- 3:26>> Yeah. Sometimes if it's an all ages show
- 3:28>> like this mom brought her two probably
- 3:30like middle school or younger age kids.
- 3:31I was like, "This is the one night
- 3:32they're allowed to curse." [laughter]
- 3:35I was like, "Sorry."
- 3:36>> You get cuz you Okay. Uh it with dirty
- 3:39stuff, our stuff is a bit different.
- 3:41>> Yeah.
- 3:41>> Cuz uh yours is like the fun of it is
- 3:45the euphemism
- 3:46>> and like kind of hiding it. Yeah.
- 3:48>> And like saying it in like a interesting
- 3:50like creative way
- 3:51>> whereas I'm more very more directly
- 3:54being like I'm going down on a horse
- 3:56girl [laughter] or I don't actually
- 3:58maybe that is still a euphemism but you
- 4:00know what I mean. I'm saying I'm saying
- 4:01more.
- 4:02>> And also do do you feel as though you're
- 4:03clearly explicit a lot of time or I
- 4:05don't know.
- 4:05>> Yeah it definitely varies. I mean,
- 4:07there's some some stuff where it's just
- 4:08like, okay, I just said come or
- 4:10whatever, but like but [clears throat]
- 4:11yeah, I think part of the reason I end
- 4:13up writing so much innuendo is because
- 4:15like like a rap in general, you thrive
- 4:17off some sort of double or triple
- 4:18meaning. And that's just the thing we
- 4:20have the most double meanings about
- 4:22because it's taboo. So like a lot of my
- 4:24[snorts] songs are just blank and sex.
- 4:26Like one of them is literally called
- 4:27basketball and sex cuz there's just so
- 4:29many innuendos and double meanings you
- 4:30can do with it. But I I don't know. I
- 4:32think of it as being it's not hidden
- 4:34that well. And when they bring kids, I'm
- 4:35just like, "Okay." [laughter]
- 4:38>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:39>> There was one show in Sacramento, a lady
- 4:40breastfed her baby right in the front,
- 4:42which I didn't notice.
- 4:43>> Whoa.
- 4:44>> She was an audience plant. You told her
- 4:46you paid her to do that.
- 4:47>> You know, would be awesome. There's like
- 4:49a little ADA section on the side or
- 4:51whatever. And I And afterwards, my DJ
- 4:52was like, "Did you say like, no, I'm
- 4:54glad I didn't notice [laughter] because
- 4:55I think I wouldn't have been able to
- 4:57hide it in my face that I noticed. I
- 4:58would have been like, yo, [laughter]
- 5:01like glad you feel comfortable."
- 5:04I don't think anybody's breastfed at one
- 5:05of my shows yet.
- 5:06>> Maybe up in the shadows. You never know
- 5:07in a dark comedy club, you know, at the
- 5:09bar.
- 5:10>> True. Yes. Yeah.
- 5:11>> Milk the two.
- 5:12>> Or maybe another adult. [laughter]
- 5:15>> New York. Who knows? Maybe.
- 5:18>> I don't know if people have gotten like
- 5:21>> Let me know if you've had sex at one of
- 5:22my shows before. [laughter]
- 5:23>> Yeah, please.
- 5:23>> Like in the bathroom or something.
- 5:25>> I saw an interview with um someone from
- 5:26the band The XX.
- 5:28>> Oh, yeah.
- 5:29>> Um same age. You know about the XX?
- 5:31>> Yes. Yes, I do. [laughter] and they were
- 5:32saying this
- 5:35>> I haven't listened to them in a minute
- 5:36but I what is it 2014
- 5:39they were a big part of I don't know
- 5:41>> yeah I think probably I think I was
- 5:42probably still in high school maybe a
- 5:43little older maybe yeah they were
- 5:44talking about like yeah I saw this
- 5:45couple up in the balcony just really
- 5:47feeling it and then I realized they were
- 5:48fully having doggy style [laughter] sex
- 5:50like in the balcony she's like holy [ __ ]
- 5:53[clears throat]
- 5:55>> that's fine with me
- 5:56>> that's awesome
- 5:56>> if somebody
- 5:58security it's not my problem [laughter]
- 6:01>> is a music show. Um, you can do that and
- 6:04people can't necessarily hear you over
- 6:06it.
- 6:06>> Yeah. Between
- 6:07>> like
- 6:08>> you go to sip your water and there's
- 6:09that little second of silence. You just
- 6:10like you're like [laughter]
- 6:13>> Yeah. Or do it. It' be funny if they try
- 6:15to do it to the rhythm of a setup punch
- 6:17line. [laughter]
- 6:18>> It's like
- 6:20>> they wait for a big applause or laugh
- 6:22and they just go go
- 6:25[snorts]
- 6:25[laughter]
- 6:27>> really depends on the club whether you
- 6:29can pull that one off. If there's
- 6:30because some of what's your ideal like
- 6:32shape and layout of like there's an old
- 6:34Demetri Martin joke where he's like the
- 6:36best place for standup would be the
- 6:37worst in a fire like low windowless.
- 6:41>> I was thinking of like a crawl Yeah.
- 6:42crawl space [laughter] like uh is it the
- 6:44Alaskan bounces that raccoons and
- 6:46possums like comedians also like
- 6:49>> everybody prone and on their belly and
- 6:51like in a line like facing the stage
- 6:54and like there's like a tube like a
- 6:56hamster tube for them to get like the
- 6:58food and it's a two two tube minimum
- 7:00[laughter]
- 7:02they get an IPA tube
- 7:06>> and the quesadilla tube. [laughter]
- 7:08>> Yeah. I've also have you noticed that
- 7:10like this is like from sleepovers back
- 7:11in the day, but lying on your back you
- 7:13laugh way harder. Have you ever
- 7:15experienced that? Like like truly the
- 7:17hardest I've ever like lost my [ __ ]
- 7:18laughing is just in the dark sleepover
- 7:20with my buddies like lying on my back
- 7:22like you just it becomes like
- 7:23uncontrollable at some point.
- 7:25>> That's a funny to me that sounds like a
- 7:27confounding variable of your like
- 7:29delirious having the a great night with
- 7:31like your homies and it's like late and
- 7:33you're having fun and you're like oh I'm
- 7:34laughing cuz I'm on my back. [laughter]
- 7:37Oh, it's the position of my body.
- 7:39>> These guys aren't that funny.
- 7:41>> But it's like I think like I think you
- 7:42would be laughing just as hard if it was
- 7:44like a campfire at 2 am.
- 7:46>> Yeah, but like setting up. You know what
- 7:47I mean?
- 7:48>> I've laughed with the boys at at a
- 7:50similar level of riff seated and I don't
- 7:53think you get to that level of like
- 7:54there's a beyond
- 7:56>> All right. You know, I'll I will concede
- 7:57that. Yeah. Your maybe your lungs are
- 7:59more open or you're like
- 8:00>> if you
- 8:01>> there's like a there's like a maybe your
- 8:02like the blood to your head. Maybe
- 8:04>> that could be it. I
- 8:04>> All right. I'm conceding ground.
- 8:07>> If there was ever a [laughter] place you
- 8:08could invite people to a lie on your
- 8:10back comedy show, I think it's Brooklyn
- 8:12[laughter] and I think you would maybe
- 8:14have the people to do be like, "Yeah,
- 8:15I'm down for something weird. Let's do
- 8:16it."
- 8:17>> One of the only people Oh, god.
- 8:19[laughter] Bringing this up. Uh Reggie
- 8:20Watts I know had like a bean bag chair.
- 8:23Like people really reclined heavily and
- 8:25I was like, "Oh, that's a great idea."
- 8:27And
- 8:28>> that article just came out. I don't know
- 8:29if you heard about that. And that was
- 8:31crazy. Mhm.
- 8:32>> I uh I didn't read the whole thing, but
- 8:34I heard the summaries have been people
- 8:35talking about it.
- 8:37>> That's pretty bad. Yeah, you can't be
- 8:38doing any of that.
- 8:40>> Folks, it's smokes. We smoke weed and
- 8:41tell Bible stories. I'm Scoochi Buchcci.
- 8:43Benny Felman is here. Surprise intro.
- 8:45[laughter]
- 8:46>> And it's also uh Bughive.
- 8:49>> I don't have like a podcast intro. I I
- 8:51cuz typically I'm not They know what
- 8:54they're watching already. Typically,
- 8:55[laughter]
- 8:55>> I don't know why I do it now that you
- 8:57mentioned it. They know what it is.
- 8:59Yeah, [laughter]
- 9:00>> folks. This is Holy Smoke, the podcast
- 9:02where I smoke weed and do arts and
- 9:06crafts silently. [laughter]
- 9:09>> I have a very crafty fan base. Just on
- 9:11this last week alone,
- 9:13>> someone gave me a crocheted wizards hat.
- 9:15>> Oh, love that.
- 9:16>> Uh, some people have given me little
- 9:19paintings and drawings and [ __ ] Someone
- 9:21gave me like a a crocheted like knit
- 9:22camel. Um, wow.
- 9:24>> So, yeah.
- 9:25>> What do you do with this stuff?
- 9:27Um, I keep as much as I can,
- 9:30>> but also if it's just like an image of
- 9:32my face, I'm like, I'm not going to hang
- 9:33this up in my house,
- 9:34>> right?
- 9:34>> I don't like like I don't know. Do you
- 9:36think Elvis had a room full of Elvis
- 9:37[ __ ] at his house?
- 9:39[laughter]
- 9:40>> I don't know. Probably not. Probably
- 9:41not.
- 9:41>> Maybe like signed guitars from like
- 9:43other musicians or whatever, but like I
- 9:44don't a house full of just me like
- 9:47[laughter] like So, if you're going to
- 9:49bring me stuff folks at home, honestly,
- 9:51just like a gift card would be the my
- 9:53favorite. Someone gave me a little care
- 9:55package with like tea and allergy meds
- 9:56and a Starbucks gift card and I was like
- 9:58this is the best thing anyone's ever and
- 10:00I know way more thought and loves goes
- 10:02into big crochet wizard hat but like in
- 10:04terms of odds I keep and use it like
- 10:05just think about like what would you
- 10:07want on a road trip you know just like a
- 10:09[ __ ] fruit [laughter]
- 10:11something to help me survive you know I
- 10:14have a lot of keepsakes
- 10:15>> that's funny
- 10:15>> but the thought I very much appreciate
- 10:17>> I've been doing a thing where I u tear
- 10:20them down for scraps and reuse the parts
- 10:22kind of recycle back into the heart. You
- 10:24know what I mean?
- 10:24>> You take them to the workbench.
- 10:25>> I do. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I kind of uh I
- 10:29uh I feel bad cuz some of the people
- 10:31>> have given me the saying and they're
- 10:32going to hear this, but you know what I
- 10:33mean.
- 10:34>> Fans of you, they understand the
- 10:35tinkerer grind.
- 10:36>> Yes.
- 10:37>> They've seen that hat. [laughter]
- 10:39>> Oh, the hat's The hat's not in frame,
- 10:41but I will lower
- 10:42>> It's on a boom arm. You got to lower it.
- 10:45[laughter]
- 10:47>> I'm going to I'm going to keep it barely
- 10:48in frame so they they understand it's on
- 10:50a shelf. is mounted high up on a shelf
- 10:52with a glorious steampunk hat hanging
- 10:55off of it in case you need to deploy it
- 10:57at a moment.
- 10:57>> This is always This is folks whenever
- 11:00you watch the podcast this hat is always
- 11:02above it out of frame on an arm.
- 11:04[laughter]
- 11:04>> I don't know. I guess people guess I
- 11:06haven't revealed that.
- 11:08>> Yeah. Yeah. You can already see some
- 11:09interesting [ __ ] It's all interesting.
- 11:11I was taking it in. So, you love bugs? I
- 11:14can see.
- 11:14>> I'm a big I I do. I enjoy them.
- 11:16>> Tell me about your bug fascination.
- 11:17Where did it start? Uh, I'm a big fan of
- 11:19like nature and bugs stuff in general.
- 11:21Um, but like growing up as a kid. Uh, I
- 11:23went to a nature camp. Oh, hell yeah.
- 11:25Ruin's making his own smoothie. Little
- 11:27blending going on.
- 11:28>> This episode's brought to you just
- 11:29broadly by smoothies. No particular
- 11:31company.
- 11:32>> Yes. Slurping.
- 11:34>> The slurping. [laughter]
- 11:35>> Is that AC thing going to cut back on?
- 11:37I'm a little toasty.
- 11:38>> Oh, yeah.
- 11:39>> Is it just automatic,
- 11:40>> too?
- 11:40>> Yeah. A little cooler be noise if we're
- 11:42making machine noises anyways. Might as
- 11:43well
- 11:44>> making machine noises. [laughter]
- 11:45Sorry folks. That noise you're hearing
- 11:46is the hat.
- 11:48It's It's starting to rev up. It heard
- 11:51its name.
- 11:52>> I'm
- 11:53It should cut back on.
- 11:54>> Can you summon it like Shadowfax? Like
- 11:56if you whistle, does the hat [laughter]
- 11:58come to you?
- 12:01>> That'd be cool. That'd be awesome. It
- 12:03should like the claws come out and like
- 12:05[laughter] like scuttles over to me.
- 12:08Yeah,
- 12:09>> that should come back on in a sec. But
- 12:10we'll Yeah, if not, just chug that
- 12:12smoothie. Get the
- 12:13>> I mean, now is a great time to chug
- 12:14while he's he's blending. They probably
- 12:16can't hear that, but we can hear it so
- 12:18well
- 12:18>> that it's like
- 12:19>> my brain just went. [laughter]
- 12:22>> Oh, but yeah. What's What's your love
- 12:24for kind of silly stuff? Where's that
- 12:25come from? Volcanoes.
- 12:27>> I mean, some of it is like middle child
- 12:29just like attention stuff to start.
- 12:30>> Also middle child.
- 12:31>> Okay. What's your sibling? Don't
- 12:33>> worry about it. Um, older sister,
- 12:35younger sister. Uh, two years, five
- 12:37years.
- 12:37>> Older bro, four years older, little
- 12:39sister three years younger.
- 12:40>> Nice.
- 12:41>> And for me, it's very much like I want
- 12:42everyone to be happy. I really need
- 12:44everyone around me to be happy, I think,
- 12:46is where it comes from. But then I
- 12:47[clears throat] also just love I had a
- 12:49lot of I feel like I got really lucky
- 12:50with
- 12:51>> I went to a tiny tiny school like K
- 12:53through 12 like 200 kids. But like my
- 12:56year was like really funny. Like I had a
- 12:57bunch of funny friends.
- 12:58>> Wait, all all of K through 12 was 200.
- 13:00>> Yeah. So my graduating class was 22 kids
- 13:02and that was like a pretty big class.
- 13:04>> Where you from?
- 13:04>> Blackburg, Virginia. That's where
- 13:06Virginia Tech is. That's why I had
- 13:09>> Yeah. Did you go to Did you go to VT?
- 13:10>> No, my dad taught there. So, my whole
- 13:12family is like Midwest and then my dad
- 13:13just got a job there, so that's where I
- 13:14grew up.
- 13:15>> Oh, interesting. Okay. Um,
- 13:17>> you have a Midwest energy and I know
- 13:18you're like a Chicago guy, but you're
- 13:20like you're like a Midwest transplant in
- 13:22Virginia growing up.
- 13:23>> I I kind of feel like a kid who grew up
- 13:24on a military base in Germany. You know
- 13:27what I mean? But but but for the South,
- 13:29[laughter]
- 13:31>> we're like, I know Southerners, but I
- 13:33wouldn't I don't know if I really am.
- 13:34But I Yeah,
- 13:35>> you emotionally identify as as Midwest.
- 13:37I feel [clears throat] that's more the
- 13:38vibe I give off and like I I'll throw in
- 13:40a y'all every now and then but I don't
- 13:41have much of the southern accent.
- 13:43>> So are you a standup?
- 13:44>> So I did a tiny bit like starting out
- 13:46and then mostly a lot of improv and
- 13:47that's what brought me to Chicago. Did
- 13:49the whole like IO thing and stuff and
- 13:51then was doing rap on the side kind of
- 13:53throughout but then when the pandemic
- 13:54hit I was like I want this to be my job
- 13:56and I want an audience so let's go full
- 13:58rap. And so pretty much co on I've been
- 14:00doing just the rap stuff.
- 14:02>> Cool. But it's working out. It's going
- 14:04great. Thanks. Seems like really like
- 14:05the uh just your butt is a car.
- 14:07>> Yeah. Yeah, the [laughter] car butt.
- 14:09>> I That wasn't the first one I found.
- 14:11>> I um one one of you in the woods
- 14:14>> probably. I I have sex. That's my
- 14:16biggest one. Me in the woods. I have a
- 14:18few in the woods. Whenever I go to shoot
- 14:19a music video, I'm like, well, where do
- 14:20I want to spend all day? I'm like, let's
- 14:21just go out in the woods cuz [laughter]
- 14:22also I'm going to be embarrassing all
- 14:24day. So, I don't want to be like in like
- 14:25a busy place. I've gotten better at
- 14:27that. Like, I'm more comfortable with
- 14:28that now. Like, we shot a video for my
- 14:29Waldo song. I was that was actually
- 14:31before I blew up and it was my first
- 14:32taste of feeling famous because if
- 14:34you're dressed as Waldo in downtown
- 14:35Chicago, people will yell found you at
- 14:38throughout all [laughter] day. Um
- 14:40Melissa like and that that one help me
- 14:42sort of work through the embarrassment
- 14:43of cuz I really don't like any sort of
- 14:45like man on the street like someone who
- 14:48wasn't planning on being in a comedy
- 14:49video interaction.
- 14:51>> Yeah, it makes me cringe deeply. I have
- 14:52a hard time with that. I really Yeah. I
- 14:54mean like Nathan Fielder's brilliant,
- 14:56but like I'm like do they know? Like I
- 14:58like I don't know like any
- 14:59[clears throat] sort of like flash mob
- 15:01type stuff I just cannot stand. So like
- 15:03even if I'm just filming me out in
- 15:04public, I feel like I'm interrupting
- 15:06their day and so I'm like let's just go
- 15:07somewhere where there's no one so I
- 15:09could just like be weird all afternoon
- 15:10and it's fine.
- 15:11>> Oh yeah. No, for sure. I have a hard
- 15:13time watching uh I can't watch Curb that
- 15:15even though it's like fake sometimes. I
- 15:17have a hard time watching that cuz I'm
- 15:18like
- 15:20>> Yeah. Being being in the woods is good.
- 15:22Yeah.
- 15:22>> Yeah. Being cringe in the woods.
- 15:23>> Like we just shot a music video with a
- 15:25rapper from Detroit named Bruiser Wolf
- 15:26who's amazing. And we just went to Bell
- 15:28Isle. Have you ever been to Bell Island
- 15:29Detroit? [clears throat] Really
- 15:30gorgeous. You just go across this bridge
- 15:31and it's this island that the whole
- 15:32thing is like a park. I don't know if
- 15:34it's a city or a state park or whatever,
- 15:35but they have a bunch of gorgeous
- 15:36gardens and sculptures and stuff. And
- 15:38it's sort of like the video you can feel
- 15:40that like we just had a nice day in a
- 15:41nice place, you know? So, it's like
- 15:43let's just go somewhere we want to be
- 15:44and that energy will come across.
- 15:46>> That's that's beautiful. Do you do you
- 15:47end up getting a lot of like uh rappers
- 15:50who are like not comedy rappers, but
- 15:53then you like kind of incorporate that
- 15:54you're like come to a funny one?
- 15:56>> That's what I want to do is more of that
- 15:57Lonely Island thing where like I I'll
- 15:59give you the funny premise and then you
- 16:00just give me a verse on it and it'll
- 16:02make it cooler because I always I mean
- 16:03obviously I'm a fan of all these like
- 16:04quote unquote like serious rappers and I
- 16:06want them on my songs and stuff. Um it's
- 16:08it feels
- 16:09>> any any dream collabs occur. Sorry.
- 16:11>> Honestly, Two Chains Two Chains or
- 16:14Action Bronson. I feel like there are
- 16:16two of my favorites in terms of like
- 16:17serious rappers who are just naturally
- 16:19organically really funny cuz like I
- 16:21think it's an underrated part of like
- 16:22like Lil Wayne. He's also just really
- 16:24naturally hilarious. It's just one of
- 16:26the many ways he can score points with a
- 16:28bar, you know? Um so like I feel like
- 16:30I'm
- 16:31>> you've gamified rapping. It [laughter]
- 16:33sounds like
- 16:33>> Yeah, I'm I'm farming XP.
- 16:36>> Level up. I uh [laughter]
- 16:38[ __ ] uh [ __ ] I uh I don't really know
- 16:40Action Bronz's stuff that well. Also,
- 16:42folks, I for Scoochi's audience, I have
- 16:44Tourette's. [laughter] Anyway, uh I'm
- 16:47doing the [clears throat] a soundboard
- 16:49[laughter] or like Yeah. [ __ ] [ __ ] um
- 16:53uh I don't really know actually Bronson
- 16:54stuff, but there's like a Twitter called
- 16:55like action
- 16:56>> accidental Bronson. Yeah.
- 16:58>> Yeah. And every now and again they would
- 16:59like quote tweet me. Yeah. And I'd be
- 17:01like, "What?"
- 17:02>> Oh, yeah.
- 17:03>> I don't know. I don't know what this is.
- 17:04So, sort of the formula for those tweets
- 17:06is uh he's really great at describing a
- 17:09very visual like image of some sort of
- 17:11really specific luxurious activity.
- 17:14That's kind of the mold. So, it' be like
- 17:16sipping rare boba tea watching Taiwanese
- 17:20baseball [laughter] at the racetrack.
- 17:22It's almost like a game of clue. It's
- 17:24like in the, you know, uh Bellagio with
- 17:28the Dominican baddie smoking symbiot or
- 17:32whatever, you know.
- 17:33>> [laughter]
- 17:33>> Okay, I'll I'll go back and look at it
- 17:34through that lens and be like, "Oh, I
- 17:36see."
- 17:37>> Or just listen to some action process.
- 17:39>> Go straight to source. He's the best at
- 17:41that. He's There's one song where he
- 17:42talks about just sitting alone in the
- 17:44car bumping Janet Jackson, which is just
- 17:45a great image [laughter]
- 17:47alone.
- 17:49>> That's good. That's luxury.
- 17:50>> Great. I like that a lot.
- 17:51>> Pure luxury.
- 17:52>> Let's do one of the premises of our two
- 17:53podcasts or both.
- 17:55>> Yes. I I think we can manage both. I was
- 17:57just saying right before we recorded
- 17:59that crafts are a big part of how they
- 18:00teach kids Bible stories. It's almost
- 18:02entirely like
- 18:04>> glue sticks, coloring pencils as you're
- 18:06hearing about like and they decided not
- 18:08to stone the adulteress and you're just
- 18:10like five like cool. [laughter]
- 18:13>> Uh I went to synagogue growing up. Okay.
- 18:15>> Um and we would learn through
- 18:18>> uh we would watch like little videos and
- 18:20stuff like we watch Veggie Tales.
- 18:22>> They watch Veggsales in the synagogue.
- 18:23>> Yeah, they do. It's just that good. cuz
- 18:25some of it [laughter]
- 18:27we we weren't watching New Testament
- 18:28Veggie Tales and we we stopped there the
- 18:31synagogue is like first two seasons of
- 18:33Veggie Tales that's what's
- 18:34>> yeah they did the
- 18:35>> once they reach uh once they reach New
- 18:37Testament [ __ ] we're like man
- 18:38>> the Torah parts they were like yeah I
- 18:39mean this is our [ __ ] too it's like we
- 18:41also know about cucumbers [laughter]
- 18:44>> that's awesome they also don't do that
- 18:46much New Testament stuff like there's
- 18:48not one where they made Jesus a
- 18:49vegetable
- 18:49>> was that a sly pickle idea by the way
- 18:51was that what you're going for with that
- 18:52>> I don't think so pickle Well, uh, no,
- 18:54just Jews are really into pickles. The
- 18:56cucumber. Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:57>> Okay. Did not [laughter] know that. For
- 19:00the record,
- 19:00>> I support I was I was trying to see if
- 19:02it was deliberate or not, [laughter]
- 19:03man.
- 19:05>> Um, but uh yeah, they never really
- 19:07messed around and like made Jesus a
- 19:09carrot. They were like, "Let's not even
- 19:10They never
- 19:10>> No, I heard they did. Did they?
- 19:11>> I heard they after I saw
- 19:13>> you. No, they literally made him a
- 19:14carrot.
- 19:16>> I was just talking to my friends about
- 19:17this. They said um that in one of them
- 19:20like they they were like they were
- 19:21supposed to never depict him at all.
- 19:23>> Right. But then there's a like a
- 19:24nativity scene where they made him a
- 19:25baby carrot [laughter] or if I if I'm if
- 19:28I'm not mistaken.
- 19:29>> That sounds right. Yeah.
- 19:30>> Like Well, that's funny that I guessed
- 19:32the vegetable, too.
- 19:33>> Allegedly. [laughter] I don't want to
- 19:34get sued.
- 19:35>> Yeah. I don't know which vegetable he
- 19:36should be. I mean, something that goes
- 19:37on a kebab cuz [laughter] there's a
- 19:39skewer element, I think.
- 19:45>> Well, that's great.
- 19:46>> Let's do some crafts.
- 19:47>> Absolutely. Well, so
- 19:48>> what do you got?
- 19:49>> Well, so uh the clay, I got embroidery.
- 19:52I got like bead stuff. I've got We got
- 19:54paint. And uh
- 19:55>> I just want to like roll some clay
- 19:57around.
- 19:57>> Amazing. There's also the tin foil ball
- 19:59is also for that.
- 20:01>> Oh, nice. I also provide with like
- 20:03random [ __ ] to fiddle with. I think it's
- 20:05a good move.
- 20:06>> Oh, the tin foil ball goes inside the
- 20:09clay. So, if you want to make a if you
- 20:12if you if you start making something,
- 20:13decide what you want to make. If you
- 20:15like instead of doing a whole ball of
- 20:17clay, you do ball of tin foil and then
- 20:19just the outside of his clay. Oh, holo
- 20:22clay [snorts] thing.
- 20:23>> Saves clay.
- 20:25>> Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:26>> Okay.
- 20:26>> But but you but just fiddle with that
- 20:29[ __ ]
- 20:30>> Cube someone made this. A lot of a lot
- 20:32of love went into this [laughter] cube.
- 20:35That might be all I need. Nice.
- 20:37>> Yeah, absolutely. Well, so so I kind of
- 20:39I like to try to uh we'll talk about
- 20:41maybe some more of the Bible stuff and
- 20:42then what we should make will come to
- 20:44mind. We can make Jesus. [laughter]
- 20:45>> We can make We can make vegetable Jesus.
- 20:47>> Yeah. I feel like I have some Jonah and
- 20:48the Whales uh blue over here. So we can
- 20:50make a little whale. For uh for Benny's
- 20:52viewers, I grew up super Christian and
- 20:54now I just kind of look like it. And
- 20:55[laughter] now I do this podcast, Holy
- 20:57Smokes, where we smoke weed and tell
- 20:58Bible stories. Basically drunk history,
- 20:59but with weed in the Bible. But uh I'm
- 21:01not neither of us are high right now
- 21:02because it's 11:00 a.m. and I got [ __ ]
- 21:04to do today. So this is uh [laughter]
- 21:07>> I don't I grew up um reformed Jewish,
- 21:09but I don't really p I don't I'm not
- 21:11religious at all.
- 21:12>> Okay. So you know your your [ __ ] at
- 21:13least uh Torah wise or
- 21:15>> Yeah, some somewhat. Um, I I wasn't like
- 21:19uh like reform is not um conservative,
- 21:22so I'm not I'm not like I don't know it
- 21:24like deeply,
- 21:25>> but I was taught that [ __ ] You know
- 21:26what I mean? Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:27>> So, when I and when I asked if you had a
- 21:29Bible story in mind, you said you had a
- 21:30bone to pick with the uh
- 21:32>> Oh, yeah.
- 21:32>> the story of the Jews in Egypt.
- 21:34>> Yes. Okay. [laughter]
- 21:35>> Um uh real quick, uh Okay. Uh here's the
- 21:40thing with that, and I' I've mentioned
- 21:42this a long time ago in the pod.
- 21:44>> Yeah.
- 21:44>> Um maybe like three years ago, so I'll
- 21:46bring it back. Um, the Jews were never
- 21:48slaves in Egypt. That's fooly nonsense.
- 21:52[laughter] It's like made up completely.
- 21:54>> Historically, there's no there's no
- 21:56archaeological evidence. [laughter]
- 21:57There's no historical evidence. The only
- 22:00>> um the only account of that
- 22:03>> uh is the is the Bible or is the Torah.
- 22:07Um, so it's like it's completely ah
- 22:09historical like like it's similar to
- 22:11like Noah and the great flood or Jonah
- 22:15like a guy being living in a whale,
- 22:16right? Um, it's similarly a bunch of
- 22:19madeup nonsense. Um, but it's an
- 22:22interesting one cuz people people look
- 22:24at the flood and they're like, obviously
- 22:26that didn't happen. But they look at the
- 22:28Jews being slaves in Egypt and they're
- 22:30like, well of course that but that one
- 22:31happened though from from the the
- 22:34general public thinks that one actually
- 22:36happened.
- 22:36>> Yeah. I think I thought that
- 22:38>> until just now
- 22:39>> pretty much. Yeah.
- 22:40>> Yes. Yeah. Um it is nonsense and didn't
- 22:42happen.
- 22:43>> Wow.
- 22:43>> Yeah.
- 22:44>> So where do you think it came from or
- 22:45like why is it the
- 22:47>> narrative? Well, part of the I do
- 22:49believe that part of the uh like the
- 22:51Passover. Okay. Basically, there's a
- 22:54couple possible ideas. One is that there
- 22:56was a brief time when Egypt ruled over
- 23:00the lands of like I believe Cananan
- 23:03where like a protojewish like group was
- 23:06like the Yahwist who are still like
- 23:08polytheistic. Um
- 23:10>> and so I I think I believe that uh it's
- 23:13like basically like a game of telephone
- 23:14over time. Um there's also a chance that
- 23:17uh like a couple of people [laughter]
- 23:21>> were you know what I mean?
- 23:22>> Like 15 unlucky guys.
- 23:23>> Yes. Yes. But we would have like if it
- 23:25was like a mass group or something. Um
- 23:28>> because we got a lot of archaeological
- 23:30records in Egypt pretty and with the
- 23:32hieroglyphs have a pretty great idea of
- 23:33what's going on. Exactly. For a lot of
- 23:35their history.
- 23:36>> Yes. And even if the even if the
- 23:38Egyptians wouldn't have like written
- 23:39about it because it's a sore subject or
- 23:41something. Um
- 23:42>> all our guys got washed away.
- 23:44Embarrassing. [laughter]
- 23:46>> They would they would be they would
- 23:48obvious also the story of that like Noah
- 23:50splitting the [ __ ] ocean is obviously
- 23:53nothing.
- 23:53>> Moses. Yeah. or sorry, Moses splitting
- 23:55the ocean is obviously not
- 23:56>> I like the image that like he just
- 23:57caught a low tide and then was like
- 24:00[laughter]
- 24:01>> it was me.
- 24:03>> If if the Jews had been slaves of Egypt,
- 24:05that would have been potentially what
- 24:06what is what it was like just like a a
- 24:08brief low tide where they crossed, you
- 24:10know what I mean? Um
- 24:11>> but there's no I'm really going off on
- 24:14this. There's no um there's no like
- 24:17>> Jewish pottery. There's no there's not
- 24:18like a there's no artifacts. There's no
- 24:21like there's no items that you would
- 24:24find archaeologically that indicate like
- 24:26unless like
- 24:28>> I don't know unless they took every
- 24:31single last bit of thing that they ever
- 24:33had there for the entire time that they
- 24:35were there.
- 24:36>> Leave no shards.
- 24:37>> Yes. Yeah. Yeah. No. You know what I
- 24:39mean? And the Egyptians didn't ever
- 24:41write about it. Like it's like, you know
- 24:43what I mean? So almost all historic all
- 24:46all uh every historical person who has
- 24:50any salt uh who studies that time would
- 24:54be aware that it's uh not the not the
- 24:56Yeah. Yep.
- 24:57>> man. [laughter]
- 24:59>> So that's my bone to pick with that
- 25:00story.
- 25:00>> Loki stolen valor a little bit.
- 25:02>> It is it is the Jew the Jews go we were
- 25:04slaves and it's like we straight up uh
- 25:07we we we may have been at different
- 25:09times in different other areas for Yeah.
- 25:11Like a lot of the Eastern European stuff
- 25:12is absolutely that absolutely that [ __ ]
- 25:14happened.
- 25:15>> Yeah.
- 25:15>> Uh I'm not The Holocaust is real.
- 25:18>> Yeah, [laughter]
- 25:19that's our stance.
- 25:21>> To be very clear. [laughter]
- 25:23>> Yeah.
- 25:24>> Yeah, dude.
- 25:25>> But anyway, yeah, that's sad.
- 25:27>> That's fascinating. Yeah. I think it's
- 25:28it's weird to just like part of the
- 25:30reason I do this podcast is just
- 25:31unpacking all the [ __ ] that I was taught
- 25:33from a very young age. just being like
- 25:35obviously like I don't like I'm now I'm
- 25:37now a fan of the Bible in like a lore
- 25:39way like the way I am of Lord of the
- 25:40Rings like I think the stories are just
- 25:42nuts or whatever but then I stuff like
- 25:44this keeps happening where I'm like I
- 25:45guess I
- 25:46>> was still just kind of casually
- 25:47believing some of it,
- 25:48>> right? [laughter] You know.
- 25:49>> Yeah. Yeah. No, it's Yeah, it's crazy.
- 25:51>> What do you think about how like all
- 25:52these different civilizations have like
- 25:53a flood narrative?
- 25:55>> You know what I mean? Like is it was it
- 25:56just such a dope story that like when
- 25:59you heard it from like guys you trade
- 26:00with you're like that's [ __ ] tight.
- 26:02[laughter] It's bad. That's a badass.
- 26:03>> Well, I think floods happened.
- 26:05>> Yeah.
- 26:06>> And so I think like I think you
- 26:07experience a flood and everybody you
- 26:09know is in this giant flood and you go
- 26:11>> that's got to be the whole world,
- 26:12>> right?
- 26:13>> Everything I know,
- 26:14>> you know what I mean? There's there's no
- 26:15there's no geolog there's no evidence
- 26:17that a global flood happened,
- 26:19>> right?
- 26:19>> Uh there's no there's no evidence that
- 26:21everything on land died in a flood.
- 26:24Yeah.
- 26:24>> That's crazy. It's funny how like we
- 26:26have like records of way kind of way
- 26:29crazier extinctions and and but they
- 26:31have a hard time believing those. It's
- 26:33like you know it's like a lot of times
- 26:34it's like when they're like don't
- 26:35believe dinosaurs and [ __ ] I'm like
- 26:36doesn't that make God cooler? Like he
- 26:38made all this [laughter] other [ __ ] and
- 26:39it's like no but that doesn't fit our
- 26:41doesn't fit our timeline though. It's
- 26:42like hey why are you so married to the
- 26:43timeline? Like yeah if you just like let
- 26:46the evidence be cool stuff then you can
- 26:49be like okay actually a bunch of cool
- 26:50[ __ ] has happened. It just wasn't the
- 26:51[ __ ] we've been telling our kids.
- 26:52>> I have a lead I have a leading question
- 26:54to ask you. It's my other big
- 26:56>> Jewish thing.
- 26:57>> It's time for the big Jewish thing.
- 26:59>> How how old do you think Judaism is?
- 27:04>> That's the leading question cuz I am
- 27:06about to The point is that I'm about to
- 27:07It's a trick idea.
- 27:09>> Like
- 27:11so I don't know
- 27:154,000 years old.
- 27:16>> It's about 2,600 years old.
- 27:19>> So just 600 years before Jesus.
- 27:22>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So
- 27:23>> that's fresh. I thought it was a lot.
- 27:25>> Right.
- 27:25>> Cuz the way they they teach you taught
- 27:28me at least is that it's like you can
- 27:29trace it from Adam to Jesus. And it's
- 27:31like this guy.
- 27:32>> Adam is not a guy.
- 27:34>> Yeah.
- 27:34>> Adam's not a There weren't two people.
- 27:36>> He's a girl.
- 27:38>> It's not Adam and Steve. [laughter]
- 27:40>> It was Eve and Ava.
- 27:42>> Stevia.
- 27:44>> Stevia sounds like a beautiful young
- 27:45lady. [laughter]
- 27:47>> Hey, sugar. Hey, Stevia. I like the idea
- 27:50of like a southern diner like waitress
- 27:51who like her terms of affection are just
- 27:53alternate sweeteners. [laughter]
- 27:55>> I like that.
- 27:57>> What's up?
- 27:58>> Aspartame.
- 28:00>> A little Diet Coke. [laughter] A little
- 28:01aspartame.
- 28:02>> Diet Coke is good.
- 28:03>> Yeah.
- 28:04>> I bet you that there's got to be
- 28:06somebody in our fan bases who has a cat
- 28:08named Diet Coke.
- 28:08>> Oh yeah.
- 28:09>> 100%. I have a friend who had two cats
- 28:11named Mop and Bucket. That was really
- 28:13nice. Kind of like kind of like was it
- 28:15Honey was your kid?
- 28:16>> Honey Boy.
- 28:16>> Honey Boy. long with the long fur.
- 28:19Gorgeous.
- 28:19>> Beautiful cat.
- 28:20>> Mhm.
- 28:20>> Yes. He makes a regular appearance on
- 28:22this.
- 28:23>> Oh, you bet.
- 28:23>> Oh, you're actually making the whale.
- 28:24Nice.
- 28:25>> Yeah, it's coming together.
- 28:26>> Oh, [laughter] that's great. I love
- 28:28that.
- 28:28>> Turns out a rectangle is a great
- 28:29starting point for
- 28:31>> Yes. I'll make Bro, I'll make Jonah.
- 28:33>> Okay, good. [laughter]
- 28:35>> Uh, I'll try to base him on your whale.
- 28:37>> One of the first songs I wrote was
- 28:38called Song of Solomon, and I took a b
- 28:40Are you familiar with the book Song of
- 28:41Solomon?
- 28:42>> Uh, no. It's uh supposedly written by by
- 28:45King Solomon, but it's a bunch of uh
- 28:47horny poetry. It's like my lover's
- 28:50breasts are like the doe's of the field
- 28:52and stuff and it's like the horniest
- 28:53book of the Bible. So, when I first
- 28:55started rapping um still at my Christian
- 28:57college, I I wrote a song called Song of
- 28:59Solomon. I just turned it into bars
- 29:00basically. And the last line was uh if
- 29:03you call her a whale, I guess Jonah's my
- 29:04nut and
- 29:05>> Oh [ __ ]
- 29:08>> So that's pertinent.
- 29:09>> Wow. That's that's a great line.
- 29:10[laughter]
- 29:11>> D. I'll the um I'll just I'll tie off
- 29:15the idea of the of the 5 uh
- 29:18>> just that is
- 29:19>> the 5,700 number. That's how old they
- 29:22think the earth is. It's not how old
- 29:24Judaism is.
- 29:25>> They retroactively were like
- 29:28>> that's they were that's a self myth
- 29:29where they're like well that's how old
- 29:31it is because that's how old the earth
- 29:33is and all that stuff.
- 29:34>> Is that also like counting the guys
- 29:35because they have the whole list of like
- 29:36this guy lived to 400 or whatever. You
- 29:38just add those up and go well that's
- 29:405,000.
- 29:41>> Yeah. I don't know. I don't know how
- 29:42they got to the number, but I know that
- 29:43it's uh nonsense.
- 29:45>> Yeah.
- 29:45>> I mean, just the existence of all the
- 29:47other people, groups, and religions has
- 29:50always been a real thorn in the side of
- 29:51any religion. [laughter] I remember in
- 29:53my high school Sunday school class, we
- 29:54did a section on like other religions.
- 29:57And the tone of it was very much like,
- 29:58aren't these other religions stupid? But
- 30:00I just just made think like there's a
- 30:01bunch of other ones, so they're all just
- 30:02[ __ ] because they're not specifically
- 30:04Presbyterian. [laughter] That's crazy.
- 30:08>> Yeah. Yeah. Like if you have empathy,
- 30:09you look at that and you go like, "Oh,
- 30:11oh no."
- 30:12>> No. Either [laughter] either God's
- 30:14[ __ ] up big time. He's sitting there
- 30:15going, "No, you got to be Presbyterian.
- 30:18[ __ ] Why don't they get it?" [laughter]
- 30:23>> There is some old like street joke idea
- 30:26of like uh this Christian missionary
- 30:29goes to like um like a Inuit community.
- 30:32Okay.
- 30:33>> And they're like telling them about like
- 30:34God and hell and whatnot. Yeah. And then
- 30:36you would like, wait,
- 30:37>> if wait but if none of our ancestors
- 30:39knew about this like if you if we didn't
- 30:41know about this uh would we still go to
- 30:44hell? And the the missionaries like well
- 30:47like no you would have gone not
- 30:48necessarily.
- 30:49>> And the uh then you were like then why
- 30:51the hell are you telling us? Like why
- 30:52are you tell what I mean? Yeah.
- 30:53>> Like don't don't tell us.
- 30:55>> Good. I think
- 30:55>> Yeah.
- 30:56>> This is an accident. But I think my
- 30:58whale now has like a little um like soul
- 31:00patch which I think is nice.
- 31:02>> I love that. I love that. A little like
- 31:04like a new metal.
- 31:06>> Hell yeah.
- 31:07>> Biscuit. [laughter]
- 31:08>> I love that. I'm wearing a new metal
- 31:09shirt right now.
- 31:11>> Give me something to uh filter feed.
- 31:13[laughter]
- 31:15>> I love that. I got I got riled up. I'm
- 31:18talking about religion. I've become more
- 31:19like, [snorts]
- 31:20>> you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 31:21>> Cuz I I don't know.
- 31:22>> It's done a lot of damage.
- 31:23>> I got a lot of bones to pick. Yeah,
- 31:24>> it really has. And And like And a lot of
- 31:27times I've been watching a lot of cult
- 31:28documentaries like uh is [snorts] this
- 31:31Jonah?
- 31:31>> That's Jonah.
- 31:34>> [laughter]
- 31:34>> He didn't deserve it.
- 31:39>> Um, but I watch all these like Mormon
- 31:41like cult documentaries like Mormon
- 31:42fundamentalist or whatever. It's like
- 31:44most cults are like they only work
- 31:46because all the like people at the
- 31:48bottom like have a good heart and good
- 31:50intentions. They're like, "We've we
- 31:51would like to go to heaven and make sure
- 31:53everyone else goes to heaven and so we
- 31:54got to follow the Holy Father." And then
- 31:56there's just one guy at the top like
- 31:57[ __ ] people. I'm like, that's kind of
- 31:59our whole society. It's like [laughter]
- 32:00it holds together cuz there's a bunch of
- 32:02good people that kind of assume that's
- 32:04what's going on and then there's like
- 32:05eight [ __ ] maniacs at the top just
- 32:07like [ __ ] the [ __ ] out of us.
- 32:09>> Yeah. Yeah. [laughter]
- 32:10>> I was like, damn. It's like our whole
- 32:12>> like literally and figuratively. They're
- 32:14literally It's like kind of nuts. Yeah.
- 32:15>> It's like I imagine in Mormonism too,
- 32:17it's like literally also sexual. Of
- 32:19course. Yeah. I mean, and that that's
- 32:20what that's why those documentaries get
- 32:22made is because there's like a
- 32:23scandalous part of it that like makes
- 32:25people go like, "Oh, [laughter] but the
- 32:27funny one that I just watched is it's a
- 32:29more rec so there was like a larger
- 32:31group of fundamentalists uh like
- 32:33polygamous Mormons and the and
- 32:36throughout the course of that
- 32:37documentary, it shrinks and gets smaller
- 32:39as like the son that takes over is like
- 32:40really crazy." And then there's a newer
- 32:42documentary that starts with that son in
- 32:44prison and now there's like 15 of them
- 32:46left. There's like none left. Imagine
- 32:48still I was going to say still being in
- 32:49the crew.
- 32:50>> It's like a house and like the new guys
- 32:52that steps up is has zero charisma.
- 32:56There's a part there. So they get
- 32:58infiltrated by this documentary crew
- 32:59that's like secretly trying to help
- 33:01these women get out of it, but they're
- 33:02pretending they're making a documentary
- 33:03about him and he keeps having them film
- 33:06him do like parkour on the rocks. Like
- 33:08he's like running around the hills of
- 33:09Utah and like scrambles up this hill and
- 33:11like looks at the camera all proud and
- 33:12the guy goes, "How'd you do that?" And
- 33:13he goes, "Just just climbing [laughter]
- 33:16like
- 33:17He's like a little baby man, but he's
- 33:19like a monster also.
- 33:20>> Oh my god. [laughter]
- 33:22Wow.
- 33:23>> Yeah.
- 33:23>> I Yeah. Kind of makes me think of like
- 33:26uh people who are forced to find like
- 33:28the leader charismatic like Kim Jong-un
- 33:30or something. I don't know.
- 33:31>> Yeah. Got no reason.
- 33:32>> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah. You know what I
- 33:33mean? And just like over time like North
- 33:35Korea I guess just becomes more and more
- 33:37like like it's like you have to try to
- 33:39find something about good about the guy
- 33:41but he just like has access to like
- 33:42every Disney movie and porn [laughter]
- 33:44>> and like you want nothing but rice in a
- 33:47you know what I mean?
- 33:47>> Yeah. Like every Disney movie and porn
- 33:49as in like there's Disney porns.
- 33:51[laughter]
- 33:52>> Back into the horny vault forever.
- 33:55>> You know what I mean? I do believe that
- 33:56like he has internet and nobody else
- 33:59like I wonder I wonder if we'll have
- 34:02like a leader of North Korea who's like
- 34:04who like finds out through the internet
- 34:05that they're like the bad guy or they
- 34:08maybe they know already intuitively.
- 34:09>> Yeah. [laughter] At some point when you
- 34:11see everyone around you like starving
- 34:14and bowing you're like I might be the
- 34:15bad guy. [laughter]
- 34:17>> That's so funny. The idea of Kim Jong
- 34:18reading an article like oh oh [ __ ]
- 34:21>> Yeah.
- 34:22>> Oh no.
- 34:23>> Oh [ __ ] [laughter]
- 34:24>> Yeah. Yeah. What would you if you were
- 34:26if you were Kim Jong-un like how would
- 34:29you be like would you be like all right
- 34:31everybody uh we're let's let's knock
- 34:34let's change this like
- 34:35>> my full autocratic powers.
- 34:37>> Yeah. Like how would you knock it off?
- 34:38Like how would you if and you had a
- 34:40coming to like
- 34:40>> oh and I'm like okay first of all sorry
- 34:45that really got away from me. [laughter]
- 34:50>> Um the and then you just got to go full
- 34:52mom Donnie. your like bus is free or
- 34:54whatever. [laughter] Like you guys can
- 34:56have food again. My fault. My fault. My
- 34:58fault. Um, my fault. My fault.
- 34:59>> Hey, my bad. My bad. Try to dab everyone
- 35:01up. My fault. My fault. My fault. My
- 35:02fault. [laughter]
- 35:04>> You go on like an apology tour.
- 35:06Basically, the news would not know what
- 35:08to do with that. Like Kim Jong-un says
- 35:11sorry [laughter]
- 35:13even [snorts] though he's done nothing
- 35:14wrong.
- 35:16>> Yeah. The state news would be like he's
- 35:17wow, he's look at our dear leader. He's
- 35:19even more magnanimous than we thought.
- 35:22But uh
- 35:23>> no. Yeah. I wonder I wonder how that
- 35:25could possibly without like some hor
- 35:28sort of horrible violence.
- 35:29>> You've never seen power not corrupt.
- 35:32Absolutely. Like that's why it's such a
- 35:34funny idea. You've never seen it
- 35:35>> like that. Well, sorry. It's like it's
- 35:38like absolute power corrupts.
- 35:39Absolutely. You just said power. It's
- 35:41like power always corrupts.
- 35:42>> It doesn't even have to be absolute.
- 35:43[laughter]
- 35:44>> Anybody with a mod of power is like
- 35:47>> Yeah. Yes.
- 35:48>> The Michael Scots of the world. Like you
- 35:50don't even need you can rule over eight
- 35:51people and it can completely go to your
- 35:53head.
- 35:53>> Oh yeah. [laughter] Most Yeah. Most work
- 35:56I uh most work places I feel like they
- 35:58have the bosses there a mini cult.
- 36:02>> Yeah.
- 36:02>> That has to form.
- 36:04>> I don't know. You know what I mean? You
- 36:05have to be like what?
- 36:08>> I used to work at a logistics company
- 36:10just sending emails about where
- 36:11semi-truckss are going and we had a boss
- 36:13uh I don't think it matters but his real
- 36:16name is Jeff Star with two Rs. Nice. And
- 36:19I don't know what he did like you
- 36:20talking about like pure management like
- 36:22just management. I don't know what he
- 36:23actually does but he will occasionally
- 36:25pull us into a meeting and give like a
- 36:27weird little speech and change our title
- 36:28but not give us a raise and then say
- 36:30like [snorts] so this company you know
- 36:31next be 2 billion 3 billion four okay
- 36:33and we're just like what do you do
- 36:35[laughter]
- 36:36just like emerge say some stuff and then
- 36:38go back and it's like management mostly
- 36:40walks around and talks to each other is
- 36:41what I most like [laughter] the
- 36:42aspecting of it all like that's kind of
- 36:44mainly their job. Yeah, the professional
- 36:46manager
- 36:47>> all the way up to the top where like the
- 36:48CEO's job is to like make sure the
- 36:50investors have enough coke kind of, you
- 36:52know what I mean? Like [laughter] just
- 36:53just make sure they're having a good
- 36:54time.
- 36:55>> I never I'm not a uh I'm not a higher up
- 36:58at a company. And so I [laughter]
- 37:02>> like you like whenever there's like
- 37:03>> if you're wearing that, you look like
- 37:05the top [laughter]
- 37:07>> like uh in the movies there's like the
- 37:09board room meetings like the CEO. I'm
- 37:11like who are all those other people?
- 37:14Who are they? How do they get there? I
- 37:16assume and the movies are always like,
- 37:18well, it's some they got there from some
- 37:19degree of like ass kissing or whatever,
- 37:20but it's like sure, but like
- 37:23>> who are they? You know what I mean? Like
- 37:25it's their job to be in that room and be
- 37:27like, yes, the the numbers.
- 37:30>> Yeah. Just telling each other what's
- 37:31going on.
- 37:32>> Like what do they do dayto-day? You know
- 37:33what I mean?
- 37:34>> Yeah. From what I could see, it was just
- 37:36it was Yeah. kind of just walking around
- 37:38sort of in a cir. It's a circle jerk
- 37:39basically. [laughter]
- 37:41I keep trying to make his face more
- 37:42friendly and he gets more and more like
- 37:44distressed.
- 37:46>> You give him an arm.
- 37:47>> Oh yeah, he's jacked also. [laughter]
- 37:49>> I was trying to make a
- 37:50>> You got rid of the soul patch.
- 37:51>> Yeah, I actually I took the soul patch
- 37:53meat and I turned it into pure muscle.
- 37:56He's [ __ ] yolked.
- 37:57>> Where's Where's uh where's Jonah? Is
- 37:58that inside of him yet?
- 37:59>> Yeah. Yeah. You want to make you want
- 38:00make him [clears throat] a little
- 38:01stronger?
- 38:01>> Make him stronger. I'll make him I'll
- 38:03make him I'm going to make him bigger
- 38:04and stronger.
- 38:05>> I just saw a movie trailer that's like a
- 38:07guy gets killed by a whale.
- 38:11>> [laughter]
- 38:11>> a guy can swallow my
- 38:12>> Yeah. It's like he's like Yeah. I'm
- 38:14like, "Okay, they're just but it's not
- 38:16Bible or Jonah. It's just like
- 38:18>> secular story."
- 38:19>> Yeah. [laughter] Somebody independently
- 38:21came up with that.
- 38:21>> My culture is not your prom dress. First
- 38:23of all,
- 38:24[laughter]
- 38:27that's funny as [ __ ] [snorts]
- 38:30What do you uh you smoke you smoke weed
- 38:33every podcast episode?
- 38:35>> I'm usually like a 5 milligram gummy
- 38:36guy. I have asthma, so the smoke's not
- 38:38great for me. And I'm always trying to
- 38:39save my voice for raps, but uh yeah, I
- 38:41talk a lot of [ __ ] in my raps about like
- 38:42smoking big [ __ ] doinks, but I just I
- 38:44like a little hug for my brain like a 5
- 38:47milligram type energy. I talk in my act.
- 38:49I'm pro beer. I drink beer in the act.
- 38:52>> Yeah.
- 38:52>> You know what I mean?
- 38:53>> Beer is hilarious.
- 38:54>> Yeah. Beer is funny, but it's always
- 38:55weird. It's always weird. You know what
- 38:56I mean?
- 38:57>> But I um but in real life, I don't drink
- 38:59that much.
- 38:59>> Yeah.
- 39:00>> And uh I have found that like uh my
- 39:03audiences, they drink they drink, which
- 39:05is good, right?
- 39:06>> Cuz the club's like that.
- 39:07>> Yeah. Uh, and so I'm never gonna be
- 39:10against beer in my act,
- 39:11>> right?
- 39:11>> You know what I mean?
- 39:12>> That's a good point. Yeah. You gota you
- 39:14gota tow the the party line on that one.
- 39:15>> For money. For money. For plenty of
- 39:17power. No.
- 39:18>> Yeah.
- 39:18>> I would be against that. I'm a
- 39:20>> I'm publicly not a big alcohol guy.
- 39:22>> Yeah. It's not great. I I I tell people
- 39:24I don't drink and it makes it sound like
- 39:25I have like a badass past, but I just
- 39:27don't like it that much. Right.
- 39:28>> And I think if I'm going to get fat,
- 39:30it's going to be on stuff I like a lot
- 39:31more. Yeah. [laughter]
- 39:33>> You know, I'm going down on I'm going
- 39:35down. I'm going down.
- 39:37>> Yeah. Oh, yank. Cheesecake is so good,
- 39:38though. [laughter]
- 39:39>> If that'll be cause of death [ __ ]
- 39:41cheeseburger, it's not going to be drunk
- 39:43driving.
- 39:45>> You uh I like that you I think before
- 39:48the pod we were talking about how you're
- 39:49going to try to stay silly with the raps
- 39:50forever. Or maybe you said that on the
- 39:52pod. You're trying to You're trying to
- 39:53stay silly mode with the with the raps
- 39:54forever.
- 39:55>> You know, I'd say that, but there's a
- 39:56few coming down the pipeline that I So,
- 39:58I have one that I'm writing right now
- 39:59that's called serious rap because I do
- 40:01get comments from people being like,
- 40:02"Your writing is so good. Why don't you
- 40:04just come on, give us a serious one?"
- 40:05And I'm trying to explain. Like, no, I
- 40:07do take these ones serious. It just is
- 40:09also about farting in my shorts or
- 40:10whatever. [laughter] Like, I think the
- 40:11best thing you can do is polish the
- 40:13turd. Like, the funniest thing you can
- 40:14do is make it as good as possible. Cuz a
- 40:17lot of times comedy music sucks because
- 40:18they're like, "If the song sucks, that's
- 40:21funny." It's like, no, the funniest
- 40:22thing you can do is make it really good.
- 40:24Cuz, holy [ __ ] he spent like a lot of
- 40:26time on this. [laughter]
- 40:28>> You must you must really know like um I
- 40:31don't know enough to compliment you
- 40:34correctly. [laughter] Um, I want to be
- 40:37like I think your flow is good,
- 40:39>> right?
- 40:39>> I think you have a really smooth flow
- 40:41and whatnot. Thanks.
- 40:42>> Um, but I do think that I'm I am an
- 40:45outsider to the ideas. Um, but outside
- 40:48perspective sounds good. Sounds good on
- 40:51the ear.
- 40:51>> I'm a huge stand-up fan and I think your
- 40:53flow is good. [laughter]
- 40:56>> I don't I can't I don't know what flow
- 40:58is. Uh, like I know rhythm is
- 41:01>> or a good idea. I know it's the idea of
- 41:03like rhythm and whatnot. Um, like I know
- 41:05what it is, but I don't know what makes
- 41:06it good.
- 41:08>> And I don't know think if I do really
- 41:09either. I just know it when I hear it,
- 41:11you know? Like I couldn't sit down and
- 41:12break it down like ah it's this meter or
- 41:14whatever. Like I just it sounds good or
- 41:16it don't.
- 41:17>> I guess really you're not like oh I'm
- 41:19doing I amic pentameter.
- 41:21>> No, I never broken it down like that. I
- 41:23don't even really consider myself a
- 41:24musician really or a comedian. I just I
- 41:27make raps and they're funny. I don't
- 41:28because I I couldn't do a standup set
- 41:29right now and I also don't play any
- 41:31instruments. I don't make any my own
- 41:32beats. Oh, is there like a a regular
- 41:34collaborator or something like that?
- 41:35>> Yeah, so this guy Groove Box also out of
- 41:37Chicago. Um, and he's made like 80% of
- 41:39my beats at this point. He'll be my like
- 41:40hype man. And and then when he's an
- 41:42opener, he does a um I was going to say
- 41:43Reggie Watts thing, but I guess now we
- 41:45have to say Mark Rebier. [laughter]
- 41:47>> He loops himself and he stuff. But we
- 41:49usually say, "Yeah, like Reggie Watts
- 41:51thing." Well, he doesn't do every Reggie
- 41:52Watts. [laughter]
- 41:56>> He's stealthy on the beat.
- 41:57>> Yeah. In reference to stealthing, which
- 41:59is what Reggie Watts did. Mhm.
- 42:00>> Not white folk. [snorts] Drive that
- 42:02home.
- 42:04>> Just explain the the joke [laughter] for
- 42:06the crowd.
- 42:07>> No, I your stand up is great in in a way
- 42:10that something I try to do too, which is
- 42:11like there's just so much more we could
- 42:13write about. Like a lot of my early
- 42:15raps, I just took a normal rap trope
- 42:17like I smoke weed or I like butts and
- 42:18then just take it to the farthest
- 42:19whatever. But now I'm really enjoying
- 42:20writing rap songs about prospectors and
- 42:23dinosaurs and [ __ ] And I feel like
- 42:24you'll also you'll write a bit you
- 42:26you'll write a bit about Yeah. Like I
- 42:28just wrote a song about bees. I bet you
- 42:29got bits about bees. You know what I
- 42:31mean? Like
- 42:31>> I do
- 42:32>> things that people do absolutely know
- 42:34about and think about.
- 42:35>> I said beans, by the way, because I
- 42:36watched you at a bean
- 42:37>> bean buffet. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But uh
- 42:40yeah, I think you can write about
- 42:41anything.
- 42:42>> So much you people go on stage and they
- 42:44talk about the same [ __ ] [ __ ]
- 42:46>> and they're like men are like this,
- 42:48women are like that. And it's like not
- 42:50even true. [laughter]
- 42:52>> It's like false premises where they're
- 42:53projecting based on their ex-girlfriend.
- 42:56Yeah. And you're like, "Bro, you can
- 42:58talk about like the rain." Like, "What
- 43:01if the rainbow was alive?"
- 43:03>> Yeah. You know what I mean? I don't
- 43:04know.
- 43:04>> I had I had a rainbow bit. I was
- 43:05thinking about how like rainbows seem so
- 43:07magical because it's one of the only
- 43:08things we we can't really make. I guess
- 43:10you can if you just spray a hose, but
- 43:11like you know there's like snow machines
- 43:12at the ski lift or whatever.
- 43:14>> Is there a rainbow machine? [laughter]
- 43:16>> Do we have the technology? Just
- 43:18>> I think I think we could. I think this
- 43:20is the mist thing.
- 43:21>> Yeah.
- 43:21>> You're saying that and I feel like I did
- 43:23see one one time. If you had to make a
- 43:24like a make a rainbow for sure,
- 43:26>> right? Oh, it depends on that scale.
- 43:28>> Yeah.
- 43:29>> Could we make a fulls size one?
- 43:30>> Yeah, that's a money printing machine.
- 43:33>> You [laughter] can guarantee a rainbow
- 43:35at Disney every night. I took a picture
- 43:37of a
- 43:37>> I was I was going with the angle of if
- 43:38you know exactly where the pot of gold
- 43:40is.
- 43:40>> Oh, right. Not just
- 43:42>> Yeah, [laughter]
- 43:44gold printing. I took a picture on the
- 43:46road in Canada of a rainbow we saw which
- 43:49we called the choed rainbow cuz we could
- 43:51only see that much of it.
- 43:54>> As funny [laughter] as
- 43:55>> I'll just I'll send it to you.
- 43:56>> Yeah, send it. I'll try to I'll put it
- 43:58in right there. Yeah.
- 43:59>> But yeah, I was really happy with the
- 44:00cho.
- 44:00>> Just a small bit of
- 44:02>> chunky little [laughter]
- 44:04What was Do you have a memory of like
- 44:06when you were starting out and you like
- 44:08you're like, "Ah, [ __ ] Are people going
- 44:09to relate to this? Can I even do a joke
- 44:11about this?" And then they liked it and
- 44:12you were like, "Oh, [ __ ] I can talk
- 44:13about anything." Hm.
- 44:15>> Uh yeah, at some point I realized that
- 44:16like relatability is not about like
- 44:18literally this person has experienced
- 44:20this thing as much as like can they
- 44:22emotionally identify with where you're
- 44:24coming from or like do they understand,
- 44:28you know what I mean? Um and so like if
- 44:30you write a joke about like uh like a
- 44:32skeleton army, people like it I don't
- 44:36you don't even have to emotionally
- 44:37relate um from like a like a I have the
- 44:40same fear or whatever. It's like
- 44:41[laughter] it's like
- 44:42>> I do fear the bone army.
- 44:43>> Yeah.
- 44:44>> There's an aesthetic there's an
- 44:46aesthetic understanding. Yeah. And like
- 44:47people know how like a skele like the
- 44:49vibe and idea of a skeleton army. Yes.
- 44:51It's not a real thing. Nobody's been
- 44:53attacked by a skeleton army.
- 44:55>> But we have the idea.
- 44:57>> Oh yeah. That happened to me in high
- 44:58school. A friend of mine that bones got
- 45:00him.
- 45:00>> You know what I meant when you're
- 45:01talking [laughter] like uh the only way
- 45:03to defeat uh an evil sorcerer with a
- 45:06skeleton army is with a good evil
- 45:08sorcerer with a skeleton army.
- 45:10[laughter]
- 45:11like oh like the guns thing. Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:13I've also been doing that too where it's
- 45:14like I'm writing something and it seems
- 45:15like it's just about like a prospector
- 45:17and gold rush times, but it's also kind
- 45:19of about like crypto and just sort of
- 45:21like American we need money as much as
- 45:23possible culture or whatever. So like
- 45:25and I don't really realize that
- 45:26sometimes until late in the process that
- 45:28there's a there's a way this actually
- 45:29connects to real life is a fun way to do
- 45:31it. I also one of my favorite feelings
- 45:33in watching standup is like I hadn't
- 45:35thought about that I know about this and
- 45:38I think you give people that feeling a
- 45:39lot. They're like I guess yeah I hadn't
- 45:40thought about skeleton armies in a while
- 45:42but like
- 45:42>> people you know about it.
- 45:44>> You're like yeah yeah. Do you know
- 45:46Beetle Moses? No.
- 45:47>> He's a cartoonist.
- 45:49really cool cartoons and um
- 45:52>> I feel like he and I kind of have a back
- 45:54like uh we're we're kind of friends
- 45:56online and uh he'll do a he'll do he did
- 45:58like a comic about like a um like a an
- 46:02ancient city on the back of a giant
- 46:04turtle dope as like a joke
- 46:05>> and I had I had done one of those like a
- 46:07long time ago and like so he and I he
- 46:08and I have like a fun dynam I I think
- 46:10where it's like we have some similar uh
- 46:13>> like oh [ __ ] we're reminding people
- 46:15about like the ancient turtle city
- 46:17[laughter] you know what I mean
- 46:18>> you ever read uh Terry Ratchet.
- 46:19>> No,
- 46:20>> he is a British author who's passed
- 46:22away, but he cranked out like 30 plus
- 46:24novels in his universe called Discworld
- 46:26and it's it's it's the whole planet is
- 46:28flying through space on the back of a
- 46:29turtle and it's like
- 46:31>> Monty Python adjacent like British humor
- 46:33but fantasy with trolls and dwarfs and
- 46:35stuff and it's this amazing fleshed out
- 46:36world. Highly recommend.
- 46:37>> It's really funny.
- 46:38>> Terry Patchy. Yeah, it's hilarious.
- 46:39>> Oh, nice. Okay. People have recommended
- 46:40that before. I got to check that out.
- 46:41>> Yeah. Yeah. Hell yeah.
- 46:42>> Terry P.
- 46:43>> That sounds up my [ __ ] alley. Yeah,
- 46:45you you'd I'm afraid to say you'd
- 46:48absolutely bust.
- 46:48>> I would I would bust. [laughter]
- 46:51>> Call me I can't relate to.
- 46:53>> That ain't me.
- 46:54>> Whenever somebody says that, I'm like,
- 46:55what are you talking about?
- 46:55>> Not my Steve.
- 46:56>> Never. I've never heard of that.
- 46:57[laughter]
- 46:58>> I don't think I've watched enough media
- 46:59where people are nuts.
- 47:00>> I'm more of a go kind of guy.
- 47:02>> More of a go. True. True. [laughter]
- 47:07[snorts]
- 47:07>> Oh god.
- 47:07>> You have uh How would you say people
- 47:10relate to your stuff? cuz you're like
- 47:12you're like you're you know you're
- 47:14driving around on your butt.
- 47:16>> It's the opposite of cars.
- 47:17>> Yes.
- 47:17>> Uh which like cuz cars I guess you're
- 47:21invoking cars but not cars.
- 47:23>> Like how would you say how do how do
- 47:25people tell you they relate to your
- 47:26stuff?
- 47:26>> Um a lot of times they're like how do
- 47:30you even come up with this insane [ __ ]
- 47:32And I'm like the internet is way weirder
- 47:33than me. I feel like I'm like in the
- 47:3560th percentile of weird. Like there's
- 47:37[ __ ] beyond me you don't even know
- 47:38about. But I I appreciate it. Um yeah. I
- 47:41don't know. It It kind of varies cuz
- 47:42like sometimes my audience is like it's
- 47:45like I forget who has someone has this
- 47:47really good joke about how if you see a
- 47:49woman in overalls, she's the most
- 47:50progressive person you've ever seen. If
- 47:52you see a man in overalls, it's the most
- 47:53conservative. Yeah.
- 47:54>> Um and I get both. And I So I get girls
- 47:57that are like I I like the silly bean
- 47:59buffet one. And then I get guys that are
- 48:00like I like when you say back that ass
- 48:02up, captain's orders. Like all right,
- 48:04there's a little more irony when I did
- 48:05it, but all right. You know [laughter]
- 48:06what I mean? So like there's like some
- 48:07of that. I just like that it's sort of
- 48:09runchy and and fun or whatever, but I
- 48:11think mainly it's like it's that's the
- 48:12weirdest thing about having
- 48:13>> a repulsive idea. [laughter]
- 48:16>> The captain that's an abuse of power
- 48:17first of all. You want to talk about
- 48:19power corrupting? [laughter]
- 48:21>> Well, my captain says um
- 48:23>> No, no. I look I like how well uh you
- 48:26saying it is fine, but that other guy
- 48:28I'm I am repulsed by a guy being like,
- 48:29"Yeah, you know what I mean?" I'm like,
- 48:31"Ah."
- 48:31>> Yeah. Well, that guy I don't know if
- 48:33I've told this story before. So that was
- 48:34I a real guy. I have a real guy and I
- 48:36did a meet I do meet and greets now in
- 48:38before my shows which I felt weird about
- 48:40but it's it's kind of how I didn't be
- 48:42able to make money and they this guy
- 48:44came up to me in the San Antonio meet
- 48:45and greet and he's got shirt that says
- 48:46team Steven and I was like oh who's
- 48:48Stephen he's like that's me I was like
- 48:49oh cool I was like maybe he was sick or
- 48:50something I was like what's it from and
- 48:51he's like I'm a J6 defendant and I was
- 48:53like what's that he's like on January
- 48:546th 2021 at the capital
- 48:58oh and so like he paid an extra 30 bucks
- 49:01to meet me so I can't I can't I guess I
- 49:03got to be like at least neutral
- 49:05if not nice. So I thought of the only
- 49:06neutral thing I could think to say and I
- 49:08was like how is traffic [laughter]
- 49:11and he was like bad. I was like I bet.
- 49:16[gasps]
- 49:18And then he [laughter] he spent the most
- 49:20money that anyone's ever spent on merch
- 49:22and he left me his phone number and he
- 49:24said if you ever need someone to work
- 49:25security I got you. And I'm like my guy
- 49:26you are the opposite of security.
- 49:29[laughter]
- 49:29You're the reason they have the barric
- 49:32offense. is well he uh [laughter] was it
- 49:35had he changed as a person?
- 49:36>> I didn't didn't he was pretty proud of
- 49:38like having been pardoned by Trump and
- 49:39stuff and he was like he's like I don't
- 49:40have that much clout but I tell
- 49:41everybody about you and I was like
- 49:43please don't [laughter]
- 49:44you don't got to do that.
- 49:48>> It was insane.
- 49:50>> That's nuts.
- 49:50>> Yeah. And Yeah. So he's like I can work
- 49:52and and my buddy afterwards like it's
- 49:54crazy to know there was someone at the
- 49:55show who would have done anything you
- 49:56said. I could have been like storm the
- 49:58bar.
- 49:58>> Yeah. Wow. Yeah.
- 50:00>> You think about it. You should uh think
- 50:02about what you need.
- 50:03>> Start playing it like RTS, dude. Just
- 50:04start clicking on stuff like go tip over
- 50:06that trash can. You be like, "All
- 50:06right." [laughter]
- 50:08>> You do have Yeah. Like you know in
- 50:09Skyrim and you get like a a person.
- 50:11>> Yeah. He'd be my familiar. My
- 50:12>> You have a th
- 50:15Yeah. You have a guy your J6 homunculus.
- 50:18>> My red pill familiar.
- 50:19>> Yeah. [laughter]
- 50:25I love [laughter] the idea of the idea
- 50:26of having a homunculus and they like
- 50:28they're like like a truly like little
- 50:30[ __ ] up likemegle and he's got like a
- 50:33mega hat
- 50:34>> and you're [laughter] like what what
- 50:36would we have him do?
- 50:37>> I like how you did a Jewish
- 50:38pronunciation of Smegel. You're like
- 50:40[laughter]
- 50:42man
- 50:42>> is it just Smegel?
- 50:44>> Yeah.
- 50:44>> It's not
- 50:46[laughter]
- 50:48then it sounds like a guy you know you
- 50:49know. I never thought I never thought
- 50:51about that. [laughter]
- 50:56Like it's his last name. He's It's like
- 50:58Yeah. Robert Schmegle. [laughter]
- 50:59>> Robert.
- 51:01>> I've been saying
- 51:03I've been saying
- 51:04[cough and clears throat] I've been
- 51:05saying on stage. [laughter]
- 51:07>> Yeah. I think it's a Smegel.
- 51:11[laughter]
- 51:12>> [ __ ] That's in the I say I just filmed
- 51:14the I filmed my hour recently
- 51:16>> and you Smeiggled it.
- 51:17>> I say schmeaggle.
- 51:18>> See I sometimes I go back and forth like
- 51:20do I correct someone? Because I when
- 51:22sometimes people correct me I'm like gh.
- 51:23But then sometimes I'm like thank God.
- 51:25>> I used to be an architecture tour guy in
- 51:26the Chicago River. That was my job
- 51:28before this. And for years I was saying
- 51:30that this guy uh uh free climbed the
- 51:33Sears Tower and then a climber took me
- 51:34aside and was like free climbed actually
- 51:36means with ropes. Free solo means no
- 51:37ropes. And I was like oh thank you. I've
- 51:39been saying that wrong.
- 51:40>> Whoa.
- 51:40>> So like sometimes it's a helpful
- 51:42correction. But yeah
- 51:42>> that's true. Only climbers would catch
- 51:44that. True. Which is funny. Everybody
- 51:46else is like whoa. You know what I mean?
- 51:48>> What could be more free than to be
- 51:50ropeless? I think they just named it
- 51:51wrong,
- 51:51>> right? Yeah. Free solo. Free solo means
- 51:53you free climbed it alone in my from my
- 51:56from my perspective.
- 51:56>> Free duos. Yeah. Duos like Fortnite.
- 51:59Yeah. You run duos.
- 52:00>> Yeah. Yeah. [laughter]
- 52:01I have not played that much Fortnite.
- 52:03Go. But I feel like if we were Have you
- 52:04played a lot of Fortnite?
- 52:05>> A little bit. Yeah. It's one of those
- 52:07things where it's like, "Oh, it's the
- 52:08reason this is the most popular thing.
- 52:09It is actually It's actually fun." Yeah.
- 52:11>> Well, the first time I played, I won
- 52:13immediately and I was like I was like I
- 52:16think they did that. First couple games
- 52:18they throw you in with like bots and
- 52:195-year-olds so you get a win and you're
- 52:20like I like this.
- 52:21>> Yeah.
- 52:22>> It's like when you win early at a casino
- 52:23>> which which which it felt like a casino
- 52:25and I I didn't like that at all.
- 52:28>> Yeah.
- 52:28>> I was like I that pissed me off. I was
- 52:30like
- 52:30>> you felt like you had children's blood
- 52:32on your hands. You're like I just they
