- 2:29we call this Inside Baseball. Now let's go deep, deep inside.
- 2:33What I am excited. This is inside baseball.
- 2:38All right, guys, we got a few stories we kind of just threw
- 2:41together for you. There's a couple that we've been
- 2:44following. Goody was going to do it.
- 2:45He could not make it tonight. He's really shaken up by some of
- 2:48the stuff that happened today. I guess he was a really big fan.
- 2:52So I just wanted to shout out Goody right now.
- 2:54Let's get into some music for baseball.
- 2:57Tommy here it is. Big news.
- 3:02He blew his save, of course, because I'm starting him in the
- 3:03fantasy playoffs right now. But a role this Chapman has had
- 3:08a scoreless streak at 5050 was it 50 straight job you got got
- 3:14this one for me. 50 straight for Chapman.
- 3:17Here it is. Yeah, 50 straight without a hit
- 3:20or a run. 50 straight batters. One, one hit.
- 3:25Chapman this year is the number one closer in baseball for the
- 3:30Red Sox. It's not particularly close.
- 3:32He is dominated this season. He's got a 114 ERA.
- 3:37He's vintage and maybe he's like a.
- 3:39Tick down. And he couldn't do that with the
- 3:41Yankees. What a joke.
- 3:43But he is dominating. He's the best closer in baseball
- 3:47this year. Can you believe at this point?
- 3:50And look, we know what his truck, he's got a little bit of
- 3:52a checkered past. The guy wins everywhere he goes
- 3:55and he's an excellent player. If he keeps doing this for a
- 3:58couple of more years, there's going to have to be some real
- 4:00talks about him, you know? He's never going to the Hall of
- 4:03Fame because he won't. What he did, OK, it is an
- 4:07amazing story. But we all know and Jabba could
- 4:09tell you, relief pitchers come and then they go.
- 4:13They they have one good season and then they have a bad season.
- 4:15They have one good season and they have three bad seasons.
- 4:18It it's just, it's a nice story to hear that Aroldis Chapman
- 4:22playing in the American League East, one of the hardest
- 4:24divisions in all of baseball, is having one of his, probably one
- 4:28of his best seasons since Cincinnati, since the Cincinnati
- 4:32time. I just, it's, it's a great
- 4:34story. I, I could care less.
- 4:35It doesn't matter. The Red Sox aren't going
- 4:37nowhere. So it's it's worthless.
- 4:40What do you mean they're tied with the?
- 4:41Yanks. They're not.
- 4:42They're not going any. They're going to play in the
- 4:44playoffs. Who cares?
- 4:45They're not winning anything. It doesn't really matter, so it
- 4:47doesn't matter. I mean, they're a playoff team.
- 4:49They're not the freaking Sacramento A's, you know.
- 4:53They're. Not going.
- 4:54Why are they the scapegoats right now?
- 4:56Then you have the Rockies that are like 40 and 119 or whatever,
- 5:00but yeah. They're not selling me with
- 5:02Heraldus, Chapman. I'm not saying the Red Sox are
- 5:04going to like any like the make or break with anything is going
- 5:06to be with Heraldus, Chapman or any of the other.
- 5:08Really, you know what I want to do with Heraldus Chapman?
- 5:10I want my ass with him. I, I, he was with the Yankees.
- 5:13Yankees paid him so much money. Did absolutely nothing for the
- 5:16Yankees. I'm done.
- 5:18I don't wouldn't say he did nothing.
- 5:20He was. They never did they did they
- 5:23ever win with him? Did they ever win?
- 5:24Well, you know why they didn't win?
- 5:26Because Al Prove has got the buzzer going like this because
- 5:29he knows what pitch is coming or else he would have won.
- 5:31Did they win? That's fine.
- 5:34You could say that, but I would say that they Jabba, you're
- 5:37muted, but I definitely want to hear what you got to say.
- 5:40No, I no, I just said they haven't won with anybody.
- 5:42That's what I'm saying, true. Fish, I want to mention this
- 5:45before Jabba goes to the Nationals might have just gone
- 5:47too good of an underdog run. You might have not beaten them
- 5:49anyway. I don't care.
- 5:50They took out the Brewers, the Dodgers and the and the
- 5:52Cardinals like and then cheating Astros team.
- 5:55Yeah, a role just Chapman. What I do remember is when he
- 5:58went to the Cubs and he won a World Series and yeah, that was
- 6:02that was the last time that he actually pitched well in the
- 6:04playoffs. OK, that was the last time with
- 6:07the cops. I don't want to see him in the
- 6:09playoffs, do you? Right.
- 6:11Now I don't want to see him in general and literally they've
- 6:16came out and said this is this is legitimately the first year
- 6:19that he's been able. Why he's not throwing as hard is
- 6:22because he's tried to locate his fastball.
- 6:24If you look at his fastball command and strike percentage,
- 6:27it's the best it's ever been because he just basically
- 6:29instead of just trying to throw out, which he's still throwing
- 6:32hard, but not as crazy hard as he has, but he still touched one
- 6:36O 4. But yeah, it's that's crazy to
- 6:39think about. Like, I don't care if you're 27,
- 6:42if you're 7 to not give up a hit or a run.
- 6:47Like good for him. Whether you don't like him as a
- 6:49person, who cares? But that that's pretty
- 6:51impressive. But even and then when he was
- 6:53with New York, he averaged almost 30 saves other than the
- 6:56year that he was hurt. So it's not like he didn't
- 6:59wasn't good. He's very steady.
- 7:01He's he's going to compile enough numbers to be a top ten
- 7:06closer of all time. Breaking.
- 7:08News. 450 saves if he if he plays long enough.
- 7:12You realize he's a top ten closer of all time.
- 7:16That's what it means if you can have those numbers.
- 7:19I mean, we don't. I maybe you didn't think of him
- 7:20while you're watching it, but I think people would have said
- 7:22that, you know, growing up in the 70s watching some of the
- 7:25guys that got ahead too. So just wanted to bring that one
- 7:28up. We got another story here.
- 7:30Let's get into some Yankees. Let's not, please.
- 7:35Volpe sat today, says it's an ongoing saga.
- 7:39Here's Boone on the situation. They decided to sit him.
- 7:44He was hitting balls off a tee place at home plate. 1/2 hour
- 7:48later they announced the starting lineup and he's not in
- 7:51it. Caballeros in it.
- 7:53That sounds like it's weird that he was hidden like that.
- 7:55Like I guess thought he was playing, Boone says.
- 7:58We're in day-to-day mode, we're playing for a lot right now and
- 8:02I have a decision to make every day with the lineup, allegedly.
- 8:05I guess he has a decision to make with lineup and whatever
- 8:09tough decision I think that is, I'll make it.
- 8:11And my hope is that he can kind of get it going here to a point
- 8:14where he's that guy. Because I think when we're at
- 8:17our best, he's out there impacting us on both sides of
- 8:20the ball and frees up Cabbie to play a different role too.
- 8:23But that said, I'll make a decision day by day.
- 8:27He's batting 171 with a 573 OPS in 63 games since June 25th.
- 8:37He's the worst in baseball in the last 72 games.
- 8:39He's terrible. He sucks out loud, he makes
- 8:43errors still, he looks like. I just don't understand how you
- 8:47can keep trotting him out at this point.
- 8:49It's not him. That's not even to talk about.
- 8:50It's not him. We'll start with Volpe.
- 8:52It's not him, it's Brian Cashman and and all the analytic guys.
- 8:56They have nobody else. They're they're going to fill
- 8:59the spot in. They don't really have anybody
- 9:02on that roster that really isn't a dominant shortstop.
- 9:05You know where the Yankees are going to be going in the
- 9:07offseason. They're going to be looking for
- 9:09a competent shortstop that actually can hit.
- 9:12I and I you know what's so funny?
- 9:13Somebody got came up to me, this guy, Mike, I want to give a
- 9:16shout out to Mike. I know you're listening to the
- 9:18show right now. You came to me a couple of days
- 9:21ago when I was running on a treadmill and you said the
- 9:23biggest mistake the Yankees made was get rid of DD Gregorius.
- 9:27He brought it up to me. Ever since Deedee Gregorius has
- 9:30been gone, they have not filled in that shortstop position since
- 9:33then, and he was the heart and soul of those teams when they
- 9:36were making runs in the playoffs.
- 9:38I absolutely agree. Deedee Gregorius, ever since he
- 9:41left, the Yankees have not found a person or player to fill in
- 9:45that spot. And it's been a big problem.
- 9:47I I think that the Yankees right now are in a position where
- 9:50they're just guessing and they're trying to figure out who
- 9:53can fill in that hole. And that's the hardest and most
- 9:56difficult defensive position besides catcher to play on a
- 10:00baseball field, especially in the playoffs.
- 10:03You're putting, you're putting a youngster in a position to fail.
- 10:05And I, I just, I, I'm not trusting that Volpe is the right
- 10:09guy in the playoffs if the Yankees are going to get over
- 10:12the hump and go to the World Series again.
- 10:13I'm scared just thinking about Volpe on this roster.
- 10:16You want to pick the mentality at this point when the Yankees
- 10:19are trying to battle through, no matter what spot they end up
- 10:21getting into, whether they win the division, whether they are
- 10:23one of the wild card teams, you want to still have the positive
- 10:26mentality. Why is it just like all right,
- 10:27say Cavallaro is playing very good and not throw Volpe under
- 10:31the bus like that and just say, all right, it's the defensive
- 10:34speed, whatever replacement if you report him in a second?
- 10:37They're both not good. I, I, I know that Caballero, at
- 10:40least you could play multiple positions.
- 10:43He obviously cooled off after his hot start after he got
- 10:45traded for from the race. But still, why didn't think of
- 10:48it that as more of a positive rather than trying to put
- 10:50yourself in the headlines much more than you have to with the
- 10:52Yankees still kind of up and down at this point, even though
- 10:54they probably make the playoffs now?
- 10:56Yeah, I mean, Boone said it's day-to-day, which what does
- 10:59day-to-day mean? I mean, he said that before and
- 11:02it sucks. And as much as the game has
- 11:04changed where it's become analytical and, you know, last
- 11:0772 games, he's the worst statistically.
- 11:09And it's you're not trying to, you know, kick him while he's
- 11:13down and pour salt in the wound. It's just, it is what it is.
- 11:16And you can work as hard as you want.
- 11:17And obviously they're showing that he's working and he cares.
- 11:20But sometimes it's just it doesn't come across.
- 11:24You got to go and start a new day and see what happens.
- 11:28But I don't think it's your best choice to run them out there
- 11:31right now. I don't, I don't know what the
- 11:32answer is, but it's I don't think it's him.
- 11:35Here's the answer. Just don't play a shortstop.
- 11:37I think you're better off. Just just get a couple of third
- 11:41basemans, have them split the difference, you know what I
- 11:43mean? Just just play the shift.
- 11:46I'm not allowed anymore. I know.
- 11:48But that's what I would advocated for it too.
- 11:51I I would, I would. Now if I had Joe Madden, I'd
- 11:54just shift, shift the third baseman.
- 11:56That's what I would. Do so if the Volpe stuff with
- 11:58Boone isn't madding enough. How?
- 12:02Let me raise you 2 really good starts by our starting pitchers
- 12:05the last two games. Only two runs given up in the
- 12:08six innings in the last two starts by Will Warren and Carlos
- 12:13Rodan. What does the bullpen do
- 12:16yesterday? Giving up ten runs in three
- 12:19innings. Today, giving up nine runs in
- 12:21three innings. And they get blown out 12:00 to
- 12:242:00 and 11:00 to 2:00 by a real team with terrible ownership, as
- 12:28we found out, the leadership in their front office, but a much
- 12:32better baseball team than them in the Tigers right now.
- 12:36What are they doing with his pen man?
- 12:39You know what, I'm going to let Jabba go first because he knows
- 12:42a little bit more about the pen than I do, So go ahead, Jabba.
- 12:46I mean, where, where do I start? I was looking up stuff.
- 12:50And then Katie Sharp, she is great with stats on there.
- 12:56And it's the first time in franchise history the bullpens
- 12:58giving up nine plus in back-to-back games.
- 13:01And it's the first time since 1988, since 1988 and before that
- 13:08was 1908 that they've had back-to-back 10 plus run losses.
- 13:13Like this is a bad stretch. And literally we talked it's
- 13:17they went four and two against the Astros and the Blue Jays.
- 13:20And after they have two good series, which that's a good
- 13:23series. You, you go and you're above 500
- 13:25against those two teams. Put yourself in a great
- 13:27position. And not to say the Tigers aren't
- 13:29very good, but now you need to go in and keep that momentum.
- 13:32And they just they've absolutely laid an egg.
- 13:35It's I don't know what you do with the pen at this point.
- 13:38It's go, I mean, let's go Bull Durham, you sacrifice a chicken
- 13:42or what? I don't, I don't have any idea
- 13:44at this point. It's, it's, it sucks because it
- 13:47feels like you're saying the same thing over and over, but
- 13:50you who, who are you going to run out now?
- 13:52Like you don't really. Do you flip a coin and see what
- 13:58what's going to happen? You're all about no idea.
- 14:00You're all about flipping coins. So I.
- 14:03Don't know if you were talking about Max Jersey, I don't know
- 14:04if you guys saw it, but he was making fun of CB Buckner in the
- 14:08he was flipping a coin and CB calling strikes and balls.
- 14:10It's hilarious. You want to know something?
- 14:13Here's the Here's the problem with the New York Yankees.
- 14:15They spent, they spent drafts. I mean, they gave away pieces to
- 14:20bring in these pitchers. You brought in two quality
- 14:23relief pitchers. And since they've come to the
- 14:25Yankees, they haven't done really anything.
- 14:28You have Devin Williams, who was the best closer in baseball for
- 14:32how many years this goes, was a top three bullpen arm for so
- 14:37many years. He comes to the Yankees, he's
- 14:39one of the worst in the league. How bad could he get?
- 14:43No, he. He is the worst in the league.
- 14:44He's the he's he's over 50 innings, pitch qualifying.
- 14:48He has the highest ERA in base. It's horrible.
- 14:50How does that happen? I mean, I understand it's New
- 14:52York. I understand there's a lot of
- 14:54pressure, but how much pressure are you going through?
- 14:56I, I mean, it's just, it's, it's pathetic.
- 14:59And, and again, to me, the most important part of the playoffs
- 15:04is how your bullpen is doing going into the playoffs.
- 15:08And the Yankees right now don't look very good.
- 15:11As you heard from Jabba, the numbers would tell you they're
- 15:14as bad as they can be. So I, I'm I'm starting to get
- 15:18worried even if they there's a number one team in the wild card
- 15:22that that doesn't bode well for them even if they have home
- 15:24field. Advantage and I.
- 15:26Actually I'm I'm probably I'm rather than not have home field
- 15:30advantage playing a bigger ballpark, I think they got a
- 15:33better chance. Right now it's the Red Sox, so
- 15:35it's not that much bigger. But either way, like you should,
- 15:38I want to relate this back to what you were talking about what
- 15:39Chapman Jabba is like. Sometimes you see organizations
- 15:43try to have their pitchers change different styles and
- 15:45that's what all the praise I was giving him with the Dodgers like
- 15:48rebirthing all these random pitchers that were failures on
- 15:50other teams. The Yankees seem to like doing
- 15:52the opposite where I like Camila Duvall when they traded for him
- 15:55and and fish. You know this as a fantasy guy
- 15:57like from 22 to 24, like the beginning of 24.
- 16:00He was probably, along with Cater and Diaz, the best closer
- 16:03in baseball for that stretch. But it seems like they're trying
- 16:05to do many, too many bad things of what he's been doing in the
- 16:07past. And same kind of thing with
- 16:09David Bednar, just too much. You can't trust with these
- 16:12relievers. I don't know, I I just see like
- 16:16a bunch of guys that are put in a uniform and not really a team.
- 16:20Yeah, it just doesn't feel like like champion teams that win
- 16:24championships don't play like this.
- 16:26I'm sorry. You know, like they can get hot,
- 16:28but this is not what championship winning baseball
- 16:30looks like to me. There's I just don't see it.
- 16:33If they can somehow, you know, survive and get win the AL East
- 16:38with Toronto collapses, maybe they got a shot, you know,
- 16:41getting lucky with a good match up in the first round, But I
- 16:44can't see any other way they get get out of it.
- 16:47And I I really don't think they get past the first the the wild
- 16:50card. I I don't think they can if they
- 16:52if they're going to play like this, I mean, if Max free goes 6
- 16:56innings, shut up all they're still going to lose 9 nothing
- 16:59putting in the guys in this pen. I mean, think about it like,
- 17:02what are you going to? Do and who do you put in and
- 17:03what situation? Nobody knows what they're doing.
- 17:08I guess Bednar. I guess Bednar is the closer
- 17:10because. He's the only one.
- 17:11Hasn't sucked, you know, of the all the guys they got.
- 17:14I mean, Duval, you said it was a good player Once Upon a time.
- 17:18But you know, I would assume after playing that many innings
- 17:22he's got some wear and tear on the arm and he's probably
- 17:24adjusted mechanically because it hurts a little bit and he's not
- 17:27exactly the same guy. Maybe you can get healthy and
- 17:29become that guy again, but he isn't right now so who cares?
- 17:34He isn't going to help us right now.
- 17:36They got a bunch of guys you have.
- 17:37The worst one was what Jake Bird.
- 17:40They traded for him. He gave up like 20-5 runs and
- 17:42got 2 outs and they had to throw him in the minors.
- 17:45It was. Ridiculous.
- 17:45I think he's just hanging on AAA now.
- 17:48Yeah, and bringing him back, that was terrible.
- 17:50Anyway, the reason why I bring up that they could still sneak
- 17:54into the A at least because I'm going to go through a little
- 17:56injury report with you guys right now.
- 17:58I'm going to go down the list of injuries from this week and the
- 18:02big one starts in Toronto with Beau Bichette going on to the 10
- 18:06day IL. He had a left knee sprain on
- 18:10September 9th, retroactive the September 7th.
- 18:14This is a guy who had a bounce back year, but the problem with
- 18:19him was his knees since he got hurt a couple of years ago.
- 18:22Yeah, it played through a torn MCL a couple of years ago.
- 18:25He's never been the same. This is the best he's looked
- 18:27since back then and guess what? It's another knee problem right
- 18:31now. If they don't have them, I don't
- 18:33know if Toronto is a World Series contender.
- 18:36I didn't think he was. They were anyway, but definitely
- 18:38not if they don't have them, because that's the speed element
- 18:40you need in the. Playoffs, he'll be fine.
- 18:43They're just right now protecting him and making sure
- 18:46that he's going to be ready for the playoffs.
- 18:47Yeah, no, they're going to protect him to the point like,
- 18:50like you're saying, fish. It would take a monumental
- 18:52collapse for them to like miss the playoffs completely.
- 18:55I I don't love their playoff identity either way, but like
- 18:58they definitely need him in order to make it work because
- 19:00the line of death wallet is pretty good.
- 19:02Needs somebody like that that's electric to get on base and I
- 19:05get great. Is he a free agent after this
- 19:07year? Yeah, I don't think they
- 19:09extended. Him.
- 19:10And if I were the Yankees, if I were the Yankees, that's what
- 19:13I'm gunning for. I'd move him to shortstop.
- 19:16I think he's damaged goods. I take, I really, I really take
- 19:19him afraid of him. Here's the here's the play that
- 19:22he got hurt on. It was against the Yankees.
- 19:25It was Austin Wells's play at the plate and very simple,
- 19:29simple play. Got a single, We're going to
- 19:31have a play at the plate. You guys take a look that
- 19:36doesn't look like just an ordinary injury.
- 19:38He went right to the bottom of the knee.
- 19:41That's usually some kind of meniscus or like Patella tendon
- 19:44type of thing. They're not saying exactly what
- 19:47was sprained. If it's a Patella tendon sprain,
- 19:50you ain't seen them the rest of the season.
- 19:53You know, I don't care how good he is.
- 19:54It was raining that day. You could see in this.
- 19:56Not great guys, not great for them if they lose them.
- 19:59But the Yankees might benefit from it.
- 20:01We'll see with Michette again, it's some of the other injuries.
- 20:05There's another big, big injury he's been playing through a
- 20:08bunch of pain in the second-half.
- 20:10Another big time free agent. You think that the Yankees
- 20:12should get Arrow? Yeah, I'm talking about Cubs
- 20:14outfielder Kyle Tucker. We've seen a lot of calf
- 20:17injuries this year. That have turned in basketball
- 20:20into Achilles injuries that have really hurt franchises.
- 20:24I think Tucker. I mean, I had Tucker in fantasy
- 20:27as my big get. I'll tell you what, I'm very as
- 20:30a fantasy guy, pissed off at him.
- 20:32But you want a guy that's going to play through pain, but he's
- 20:34in a contractor. Not a smart move for a guy in a
- 20:37contractor. He played through a broken thumb
- 20:39for a couple of months. He played through it and he was
- 20:42bad, right? He was bad.
- 20:45So his numbers are a little depressed in the second-half of
- 20:48the year. Now he has a calf problem.
- 20:50The Cubs are definitely contenders, but they need this
- 20:54guy back, don't they? They're going to pay him and,
- 20:56and it seems like he's staying with the Cubs.
- 20:59I everything that I've read that it would be like the Yankees are
- 21:03going to have to absolutely overload a significant amount of
- 21:07money to pry him away from the Cubs.
- 21:09He loves Chicago, he wants to stay there and he believes they
- 21:12can win a championship over there.
- 21:14I I think he's going to be fine. Another guy that they're just
- 21:17going to protect and wait for the playoffs.
- 21:19He's fine. Calf injuries and calf injuries.
- 21:22I don't. Jabba with no more than half.
- 21:23Injury could be 6. Weeks.
- 21:25Yeah, he'll be fine. He'll be ready for the playoffs,
- 21:27trust me. Yeah, they're like you said
- 21:29fish. They're safe enough as a
- 21:31contender now where they can try to be it minimalized even though
- 21:34they have the DH in some some games as well.
- 21:36Like I mentioned, I don't trust their pitching in the playoffs.
- 21:38I haven't trusted their with the trade deadline moves, but they
- 21:41still have built enough of a wins as well as the Brewers are
- 21:44playing. They're not going to win the
- 21:44division, but like, they're not the Mets and the Padres that
- 21:47have just been streaky in the second-half of the season and
- 21:49where they were at risk of losing their playoffs, but
- 21:51they're kind of sealed at this point in the first wild card.
- 21:53Yeah, it's, it sucks no matter what injury, even if you're
- 21:58trying to protect him and you don't want it to get worse and
- 22:01you don't really have that much time.
- 22:03So I don't think it's for him to go to it that fast and for him
- 22:10to have previous knee injuries kind of tells me something to
- 22:13like there was something like usually you try to walk it off
- 22:17like, oh, you know, I got caught, but that was very
- 22:20blatantly like Ouch, that hurt immediately went to it.
- 22:22He wouldn't even let IKF put his arm around him like he was
- 22:25trying to get off. So it sucks for him just because
- 22:30you don't want to go into the playoffs banged up because then
- 22:34like we talked about earlier, it can it can affect you in more
- 22:37ways than one, your performance going into your walk gear and
- 22:41how you how you go into the playoffs.
- 22:43So yeah, it's protecting him or not that that that's a key
- 22:47component for them to get to where they want to go.
- 22:50The next major injury that happened and by the way, that
- 22:53they also have their closures on injured list to Danny Palencia.
- 22:56The Cubs lost their closure for a short time.
- 22:59We'll see how he is, but he came kind of came out of nowhere this
- 23:02year and was pretty solid for them.
- 23:04Trey Turner, though, pulled his hamstring and the Phillies were
- 23:10competing. They're obviously clinched, but
- 23:12a hamstring strain, you never know until you see the degree of
- 23:15it. Didn't look great when he went
- 23:17down. So we'll see what happens with
- 23:20Trey Turner. Having one of the best seasons
- 23:22he's had in a little while. Really kind of brought some of
- 23:26the power back to his bat that he's really been the top of
- 23:30their lineup, driving it, being on base for Kyle Schwarber and
- 23:34Harper and those guys. I mean, and obviously Alec Bombs
- 23:38had been injured all year. He's back on the IL, but they
- 23:41got a lot of firepower. But they need that guy at the
- 23:43top to really jump start it. Trey, Trey Turner, I remember
- 23:47when he won the World Series with the Nationals.
- 23:49Do you remember that? He, he, he had a hurt foot
- 23:53throughout the playoffs and he played with a hurt foot.
- 23:56The foot was all messed up and the guy played and, and he
- 23:59played well. I am not.
- 24:01He's another guy. They're going to just protect
- 24:04him. They already clinched let him
- 24:06sit out for the next week, week and a half before the playoffs
- 24:08start and and you'll be fine. I, I he's another one.
- 24:12I'm not really worried about Trey Turner.
- 24:14He's I the guy plays her. The only reason why he's he's
- 24:17probably going to sit out and he's going to take care of
- 24:20himself because they already clinched.
- 24:21They don't need him to play and the best thing to do is to make
- 24:24sure that he's ready for the playoffs.
- 24:25So I'm not really. Worried.
- 24:26Yeah, they have enough lineup depth to so sure at the the Mets
- 24:29are free falling, so the Phillies will win the division
- 24:31at some point, probably either this weekend or next week.
- 24:34Right now, I the the Philadelphia Phillies are
- 24:36probably the team to beat. Even with Milwaukee, they're the
- 24:39team they. Agree with you on that.
- 24:40They were my pick at the start of the year and I don't see any
- 24:42reason why they shouldn't be. Yeah they're bullpen has
- 24:44blunders on occasion, but like obviously Zach Wheelers injury
- 24:47hurts but they have a ton of starting depth but even that
- 24:50like for the short term is not going to be as concerning.
- 24:52They're definitely a threat if again, if their bullpen is even
- 24:55just average, I think they're going to be fine.
- 24:57I agree with. You and I don't trust Milwaukee
- 24:59either. I don't need.
- 25:00Milwaukee, I mentioned a few weeks ago, screams.
- 25:02They just got swept. They scream 2021 Giants today
- 25:06like they're having a nice season.
- 25:07They can pitch, But their offense, is it that trustworthy?
- 25:10I don't know. I'm with you, I'm with you.
- 25:12I The Phillies are as dangerous as it gets, as much as a pain in
- 25:16that. Trey Turner, obviously with his
- 25:17legs, you got to protect your hamstring.
- 25:19I mean, hamstrings can linger forever and the only, only break
- 25:23really for a hamstring is just rest.
- 25:25And he's obviously not going to get that now.
- 25:26But they're line up so deep with what they can do and, and
- 25:29they've been battling injuries anyways.
- 25:31But yeah, they're, they're stacked, obviously.
- 25:33And you got a guy like Schroeber that's kind of holding
- 25:35everything down there. But they're, they're line up top
- 25:37to bottom. If you get guys half healthy,
- 25:40they're I, I, yeah, I, I, I would say they're one of the
- 25:43favorites are top 3 for sure. Definitely top three pitching
- 25:46wise. We'll see.
- 25:49Yeah, yeah. We'll see Pitching wise what
- 25:51they can, if it if it holds up and we'll we'll see what
- 25:54happens. So just wanted to get to 1 last
- 25:57part of this before I do. Just talking about the Astros.
- 26:00Luis Garcia junior came back from Tommy John.
- 26:03Looks like after his second start might have to have a
- 26:07second procedure. Really bad luck for the
- 26:09youngster. And Hader hasn't resumed
- 26:12throwing yet for the Astros. So that's kind of worrisome at
- 26:15this point that he hasn't even ramped back up.
- 26:17So they may be in trouble over there with the pitching.
- 26:20And let's finish off with the two teams you just mentioned.
- 26:24The Brewers and the Mets are down a couple of Mcgill's.
- 26:28Yes, Trevor McGill is injured and so is Tyler and we may not
- 26:34see either one of them back during the regular season.
- 26:37Trevor McGill, obviously the closer for the 1st place
- 26:40Brewers. That's a problem for them.
- 26:43He threw live batting practice. He's going to try to get another
- 26:47batting practice in this weekend and then he might be able to
- 26:51come back. He's been out for a while.
- 26:53That could be part of their swoon a little bit not being
- 26:55able to hold leads late in the in the game without him.
- 26:58They didn't had Shelby Miller, who they acquired to take his
- 27:00place and set up for him. He felt a pop.
- 27:03He's got a torn elbow. He's done.
- 27:06So they they kind of are going through it as well.
- 27:08Tyler McGill, the Mets see what it says.
- 27:13Right elbow sprain has continued to experience forearm tightness
- 27:17and he is shut down. Not a great day to be in McGill.
- 27:21Unfortunately. In Major League Baseball, there
- 27:24you go and there it is. That's inside baseball for this
- 27:28evening. Boys and by the way, Tyler
- 27:30McGill was supposed to come on a show but back to out at the last
- 27:33minute so and I'm not wishing anything bad harm for Tyler
- 27:38McGill. I I think he's a great pitcher
- 27:39and I think the Mets need him, but.
- 27:41They're going to because their pitchers don't have lengths.
- 27:43They have a bunch of young kids, man and.
- 27:46They're pitching well. Though are you going to trust
- 27:48the youngsters in a playoff? I don't know.
- 27:49It's tough to tell. Right now I wouldn't.
- 27:52That's a lot of. Pressure.
- 27:52I don't trust anything right now.
- 27:53It's a lot of pressure on a bunch of kids.
- 27:55I know what job is going to say you have nothing to lose, But
- 27:58it's still, to me, you're putting a kid in a position, you
- 28:02know, and a lot of fans are. They're expected with the money
- 28:05that they paid Juan Soto and Lingdor and all these free
- 28:08agents that they brought in, they're expected to make a run.
- 28:11Oh yeah, they're definitely still going to be thought of as
- 28:13a good playoff identity with what they did last year, too.
- 28:16And they're gonna, like I said. Who are they matched up right
- 28:18now if the season were dead? So it would be the Cubs, I
- 28:20believe right now. They're they're screwed.
- 28:22It's flip flopping with them and the Padres, I think who gets
- 28:24that second and third wild card they're.
- 28:26Better off with the Padres. They do not want to play the
- 28:28Cubs. Well, no, they wouldn't play.
- 28:29They wouldn't play the Padres. In that case, I believe they
- 28:31would play the Phillies again. Then they'll be even more.
- 28:33I'm, I'm worried about the Phillies too.
- 28:34I agree with you. I think the Mets right now,
- 28:37they're going to have to try to be creative with kind of those
- 28:39stretch guys at the moment. That's why I agree with.
- 28:41I think they need McGill because he could pitch in both roles and
- 28:43still be, I guess, valuable in that way because you can't trust
- 28:47these guys to get. Late I just don't trust the
- 28:48young kids I I'm not about saying the young kids aren't
- 28:51good McLean special tongue is good.
- 28:53They've got some good sprung. These are good young pitchers,
- 28:57but you're you cannot trust that these guys are going to be your
- 29:03guys in the playoffs. It's scary.
- 29:05And if I was a kid and I again, Jabba's done it before, but
- 29:09Jabba had veteran players like you're talking about Derek
- 29:13Jeter. Look at the players that Jabba
- 29:15had on his roster when when they won a World Series in 2009.
- 29:19You're talking about Hall of farmers from top to bottom, mark
- 29:22to share as a borderline Hall of Famer at first base, CC
- 29:25Sabathia, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, you go up and down.
- 29:29When you look at his team, you have Lindor, OK, You have Soto,
- 29:33OK, Pete Alonso. After that, they're all young.
- 29:37Nemo, you're going to bet on these youngsters.
- 29:38You're going to bet and nobody in that with that roster as far
- 29:41as pitching is concerned, where you're going to trust that these
- 29:44guys are going to have your back.
- 29:46And Clay Holmes, are you going to bet him but on him?
- 29:49No, Clay Holmes is not. Going to he's going to be in the
- 29:50bullpen, but that's what I'm saying.
- 29:53I'd be worried if I was a Mets fan with the pitching and and
- 29:56what the pitching is going to give you in length.
- 29:59So I I disagree. I think the Mets are in a lot of
- 30:02trouble. That's that's all I.
- 30:03Mean it's just depth. I will have I will have the
- 30:05Nimos on my back at all times. One of the greatest families
- 30:08ever. I'm sure I know you hang out
- 30:10with his brother and, and you know the family.
- 30:12So that's great. I just, and I, I think Nimmo is
- 30:16a great defensive player. I just, I think there's a lot of
- 30:19pressure, not on the not on Nimmo, but the young pitchers.
- 30:23I think the Mets are expected to compete with the money that
- 30:27Steve Cohen paid. Remember Steve Cohen said five
- 30:29year plan, they're going to win a World Series.
- 30:32It's been over five years and now they just paid 1 soda,
- 30:34almost $800 million. I mean, if you're a Med fan,
- 30:37you'd have to be worried about depending on these youngsters.
- 30:41And you have Sanga, who they paid money to come here to
- 30:43America, who's now in the minor leagues in Syria.
- 30:46He'll be in the bullpen in the playoffs, so.
- 30:47All right, ladies and gentlemen, we call this.
- 30:49What's that smell? Hold up, what is that smell?
- 30:52What's that smell? Wow, you don't see that every
- 31:00day. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 31:02it's pretty simple. This is an easy segment.
- 31:05You know how it how it gets done.
- 31:07We're going to tell you a story and we're going to tell you what
- 31:09it smells like. It could smell like whatever you
- 31:12want it to smell like in speedies, whatever smells he's
- 31:15trying to bring out of this. Feature Sean Smith.
- 31:18I mean, that would it's going to be interesting anyways, I'm
- 31:22going to go poops, I'm going to go fish.
- 31:25I'm going to go speedy. Jabba me.
- 31:27Here we go. All right.
- 31:29So to start off my What's that smell?
- 31:31Let me raise the music. A little louder.
- 31:32It's a little low. But I'm going to be going to
- 31:35this past weekend of NFL games. We all saw the first Sunday of
- 31:40week one with the NFL. And we also talked about the
- 31:42Colts and Dolphins matchup that we saw, of course, a lot of good
- 31:46things. If you're a Colts fan, if you
- 31:47want to see it offensively and defensively.
- 31:50And of course offensively, Errol can attest to the Daniel Jones
- 31:53performance. But I want to go and focus on
- 31:55the defense more because new Colt safety Cam Bynum actually
- 31:59got himself a pick in the first quarter of the game against two.
- 32:03And I want to focus on what the hell is this touchdown
- 32:06celebration? I don't know what that is right
- 32:08there. That's like a ants in my pants
- 32:10kind of dance right there. I'm going to replay it again for
- 32:13you guys. I don't know what that is.
- 32:14Oh my God he he literally is like gyrating his hips while
- 32:18also I don't even know what is going on there.
- 32:20It looks like he has ants in his pants.
- 32:22I'm not sure, maybe he has. Some look that, look that up.
- 32:24He's been practicing that like there's videos of him.
- 32:26From like 10 years ago, right? I've seen that exactly 10 years
- 32:29ago he practiced when he wanted to do that dancing.
- 32:32Hey Cam. Looks like you got it.
- 32:34However, it's a little little goofy.
- 32:36Little goofy to point out, however.
- 32:38Great performance he had himself a game, honestly.
- 32:39But what does that smell like? Well, it smells like a dude wipe
- 32:43after Daniel Jones was finished with that Miami Dolphins team.
- 32:46So there you go. Cam Bynum was on that Vikings
- 32:48team that loved to do a lot of those crazy celebrations before
- 32:51he signed with the Colts, so he probably got it from there.
- 32:55All right, I'll take over the next one.
- 32:58Tommy, you got to hit mute when you play videos and download
- 33:00this myself. There we go.
- 33:03Oh, here it is. We talked about, I talked about
- 33:06this in the Sports Minute a week ago.
- 33:08Yes, Drake the artist put a $300,000.
- 33:14Bet I am a legend. Sinner.
- 33:16The mush. To win the US Open.
- 33:20But what is it everybody know about Drake other than he got
- 33:23clapped by Kendrick last summer? He.
- 33:25Loses every bet that he puts in. He loses every bet and he tells
- 33:31everybody about it so we can all watch him lose together.
- 33:35We knew that Sinner was going to lose, who was just unstoppable
- 33:40until the bet was placed by Drake.
- 33:42What a mistake. Of course, he fell to Alcaraz
- 33:46for the second time in A major this year.
- 33:48He won the other two he finished second into.
- 33:51Guess what Drake bet on him on both of the ones he lost this
- 33:57calendar year. What does that smell like?
- 34:00Well, Drake, it smells like syrup sandwich flavored humble
- 34:04pie. Time for you to sit down.
- 34:07I did the I did the one three months ago with him doing the
- 34:10Leafs bet and now he just stole. He also bet on the the Ravens to
- 34:14beat the Bills and like I said, we all know how how that turned
- 34:16out. To know when I was making my
- 34:18pics. All right, I'll move on to a
- 34:21story about Bill Belichick and his girlfriend getting rejected
- 34:26by for four different trademark by the US Patent and Trademark
- 34:30Office, which basically there were four different of Bill
- 34:33Belichick's sayings. The Bela straighter in 2009, do
- 34:36your job 2013 and then the two with the Super Bowl parade no
- 34:38days off and they ignore the noise and they're trying to
- 34:41spoof it like Taylor Swift with parentheses.
- 34:44Bill's version just trying to be unoriginal whatsoever.
- 34:47Just now trying to shed more Taylor Swift highlights into the
- 34:51NFL, too. So what does that smell like?
- 34:53It smells like new Taylor Swift. Everest Tourist singer Sean
- 34:57Smith, sweaty after losing his wrestling match with Harold and
- 35:01Java, doused in some famous North Carolina tar performing
- 35:05for those Swifties. Speedy has the most elaborate
- 35:08smells like I don't even. Know where to his.
- 35:11Smell just doesn't stop it. Like two things.
- 35:13It's it's a whole. I think corporate Sean Smith.
- 35:18I would have just said it smelled.
- 35:19Like it's like a biosphere. I I think I would have just said
- 35:22it smells like Sean Smith's ass, which is probably stanky.
- 35:28I'm going to go with what's that smell is, is I think I smell an
- 35:33ass whooping coming and there's going to need a lot of dude
- 35:37wipes when Terence Bud Crawford from Omaha, NE takes on Canelo
- 35:44in Vegas on Saturday. And probably half of Omaha or
- 35:49Nebraska will be there representing because Bud travels
- 35:53very, very deep as well as Canelo does.
- 35:55But it's going to smell like championships coming back.
- 35:59And I know you're a boxing guy Errol, so don't go against Bud
- 36:02Crawford because I will fly there and cut your legs off.
- 36:05As long as she's using dude wipe and taking care of my 2 hole I'm
- 36:08good. First of all, just so you know,
- 36:10I hate Canelo Alvarez. I've always hated Canelo
- 36:13Alvarez. Never did never liked him.
- 36:16I I didn't say he wasn't a good fighter.
- 36:18I'd never liked him. And if you would ask me right
- 36:22now who's winning that fight, it's going to be Bud.
- 36:24I mean, he's ambidextrous. He can fight right hand, he can
- 36:27fight left-handed. He put on some weight for this
- 36:29fight. He looks sensational.
- 36:30He put on good weights, not bad weight.
- 36:33Bud put on great weight for this fight.
- 36:36He worked really, really hard. You see the training.
- 36:38I've watched every bit of it. Go watch Netflix, The two dot
- 36:42the documentary that they have right now on Netflix.
- 36:44Bud looks sensational. I'm so excited for Bud.
- 36:47I want to see him like the flow of Canelo.
- 36:49Canelo has been ducking and weaving some of the best
- 36:51fighters in the primes of their career.
- 36:53Bud is in the prime of his career right now and this is the
- 36:56best time to lay Canelo out. I think this is going to be a
- 37:01great fight. I think Bud's going to dominate
- 37:04it and Canelo cannot stop the the ability Bud has on stepping
- 37:09in and stepping out and be able to change both sides of the way
- 37:13he fights right hand in a left. Hand Interesting to see if Bud
- 37:15can handle a punch though going up two weight classes he could.
- 37:18100% I've seen I've seen bug but.
- 37:21First of all, he can handle a bullet.
- 37:23He can handle a punch. Well, here's the thing.
- 37:24Bud trains with heavyweights and he spars with heavyweights.
- 37:28So he does. You're not telling me something
- 37:30I don't know. He's 45 minutes north of me.
- 37:32Yeah, so, but I've, I've been following Bud for a long, long
- 37:36time and this guy trains with heavyweights and does a very
- 37:39does a good number on on heavyweights.
- 37:42I think he's going to be fine with Canelo.
- 37:43Canelo doesn't hit as hard as he used to.
- 37:45And I think Canelo to me is washed up and he should shut his
- 37:48mouth and zipper his lips because when he goes to these
- 37:51reports, when he goes to these weigh insurance, he stands there
- 37:55like he's the Canelo Alvarez from 1015 years ago.
- 37:58And even when he was there 10-15 years ago, who did he beat in
- 38:02the prime of their career? Couldn't beat triple GI Mean
- 38:04that was an absolute robbery. Triple G won two out of the
- 38:07three fights. It was absolutely despicable
- 38:10what the, you know, the boxing world did to triple G.
- 38:13And Triple G was at the tail end of his career when he beat
- 38:16Canelo. So that's all I'm going to say.
- 38:18All right? My, what's that smell goes to
- 38:21what's going on in the world right now?
- 38:23Just think about this. I'm a Florida State fan.
- 38:25Did anybody hear about this story?
- 38:274 men arrested on the connection of the shooting of FSU Ethan
- 38:33Pritchard Tallahassee, FL Four people have been arrested in
- 38:37connection of the shooting of Florida State linebacker Ethan
- 38:40Pritchard, Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner
- 38:43Mark Glass said on Wednesday. Glass said that Pritchard was
- 38:47not doing anything wrong when he was ambushed outside of his
- 38:50apartment last month. He added that Pritchard was
- 38:53dropping off family members and an aunt and a child when he was
- 38:57shot in the back of his head. OK, you know what that smells
- 39:02like? It smells like people don't know
- 39:04what the F they're doing. They put themselves in in harm's
- 39:07way and it unfortunately puts him in a harm's way for trying
- 39:11to help people and put himself in in a position where he's
- 39:14going to be almost killed. I mean, it's a terrible story
- 39:18and I don't want to mention any of the politics, but what's
- 39:20going on in the world right now, it's just despicable.
- 39:24And and, and and, and people are getting murdered innocently,
- 39:27getting, you know, stabbed, shot.
- 39:31Why can't we just get along? We're a country.
- 39:33We should be together on everything that's going on in
- 39:35the world right now. We shouldn't be killing each
- 39:37other. It's just a horrible story.
- 39:40Thank God Ethan Pritchard is OK and he's going to survive and
- 39:44hopefully play football again. So.
- 39:46Errol, we talked about it earlier today.
- 39:48We can disagree on politics. We can call each other idiots.
- 39:52But since we're airing it out and we talked, it's like, OK,
- 39:55cool, let's go hang out and watch the game.
- 39:57No, who cares? It's just politics.
- 40:00Who cares? It's not everything and people
- 40:04make it everything. It's crazy.
- 40:06Like any of the politicians care about use individually anyway.
- 40:09Let's just get why. Are we killing you people?
- 40:12Why are we killing people? Why are we shooting our own
- 40:14people? It's just we're stabbing people
- 40:17that innocent people are dying. And this is a horrible story.
- 40:21He did nothing. He was he he took his Anna and
- 40:24and a child home and he gets shot in the back of the head.
- 40:28The guy suffice. 4 Four people jumped him, though.
- 40:31Four people, yeah. So.
- 40:33Four people were arrested. No, they were involved with it.
- 40:36They were involved with it. So this was like an organized
- 40:40hit on this guy basically, is what they're saying.
- 40:42So they're they gave the names Jayden Batson, Karen Miller,
- 40:47Korone Miller, Germany, Atkins and another minor.
- 40:51That's what they said. So those are the names.
- 40:54So honestly, it's a horrible story and thank God Prichard is
- 40:59going to survive. I mean, you get shot in the back
- 41:01of the head and you survive something.
- 41:03Like this. Very lucky the way it hits you I
- 41:05guess. It's a horrible story,
- 41:07unfortunately. Fortunately, he's safe, but it's
- 41:11unfortunate that you have crazy, ridiculous people out there.
- 41:14And that's why I don't even know what it smells like.
- 41:16Smells like people are just out of their friggin minds and, and
- 41:19honestly, there has to be something done.
- 41:21What's going on in the world right now?
- 41:23This is this is not safe. It's not a safe place to live
- 41:26when you're hanging out on a bus in North Carolina and, or a
- 41:30train and, and somebody sitting there and somebody just comes
- 41:33right over your shoulder and stabs you to death.
- 41:35It's, it's a horrible, it's horrible what's going on right
- 41:38now in the world. It's, it's, it's, I'm scared.
- 41:41I, I'm a, I'm a pretty big guy. I'm, I tell my girlfriend all
- 41:45the time, do not leave with, don't go somewhere without me
- 41:48because I'm afraid that something's going to happen.
- 41:51You know, so it is a really scary world right now.
- 41:54So my, my, my heart goes out to Ethan Pritchard.
- 41:57My heart goes out to the Kirk family.
- 42:00What happened today? I mean, it's it's a horrible,
- 42:02horrible story. I don't want to get into it.
- 42:05I'm not getting into politics, but it's a horrible story right
- 42:07now and I know that's why goody didn't come on the show tonight
- 42:10because of it. So anyways, thank you to all the
- 42:12fans on all the Spotify and apple, from video to audio
