- 5:33Dan Schulz: All right, it is time for the Redmond History Minute, where we're gonna share an interesting piece of history, trivia, or tidbit about life in and around Redmond.
- 5:43Dan Schulz: Today's question is, the site of Chateau Ste.
- 5:46Dan Schulz: Michelle Winery in Woodinville, used to be, A, a hops farm; B, Hollywood Farm, a showpiece dairy and poultry operation; C, an apple orchard; D, a logging camp.
- 6:05Dan Schulz: your time starts now
- 6:08Jennifer Davis: No.
- 6:09Jennifer Davis: boy, I wouldn't have guessed any of those, but, considering the amount of timber that came out of, and still comes out of this part of the, the world, I'm gonna say it's D, a logging camp.
- 6:20Jennifer Davis: It's gotta be a logging camp
- 6:23Dan Schulz: In a perfect world, Jennifer, I would say that would be right, but it is wrong.
- 6:29Dan Schulz: It is Hollywood Farm, a showpiece dairy and poultry operation.
- 6:35Dan Schulz: But it has something to do with lumber.
- 6:37Dan Schulz: Lumber baron Frederick Stimson built Hollywood Farm in the early 1900s as a model dairy and poultry farm that became internationally known.
- 6:46Dan Schulz: In 1976, Chateau Ste.
- 6:48Dan Schulz: Michelle turned it into Washington's flagship winery.
- 6:53Dan Schulz: The name Hollywood District in Woodinville is a remnant of that farm
- 6:58Jennifer Davis: Ah, okay.
- 6:59Jennifer Davis: It all makes sense now.
- 7:01Jennifer Davis: I was wondering about that Okay, here's one we're watching.
- 7:14Jennifer Davis: Word is a dumpling shop built around handmade soup dumplings and pan-fried buns is scouting downtown Redmond.
- 7:22Jennifer Davis: we're hearing small menu, open kitchen, counter seating, and apparently everything would be made in-house throughout the day.
- 7:31Jennifer Davis: The group behind it has supposedly been looking at east side locations for months.
- 7:36Jennifer Davis: What we don't know is the big part: who's behind it, which Redmond space they're looking at, and whether they've actually signed anything.
- 7:45Jennifer Davis: So anybody know where this dumpling shop might land?
