- 2:39with yours truly, Johnny Dollar. It's time for the Cranesburg Matter, Parts
- 2:45two and three from Hollywood. It's time now for Johnny Dollar. This is
- 2:55Oh yes, miss Green, I phoned a little while ago and your maid
- 2:59said you were up. She told me was there something you. You've had
- 3:01a twenty thousand dollars pearl necklace stolen. I thought you might want to talk
- 3:06about it. I have talked about it. The local police were quite thorough,
- 3:09mister Dollar. Well, let's say there have been some new developments.
- 3:14Like what that's what I want to see you about. I suppose you want
- 3:16to come out here? Oh, thank you? Will a half hour from
- 3:20now be convenient? Couldn't we talk about this over the pall? If forty
- 3:23five minutes will be better for you, I'll be glad to cooperate. You
- 3:25seem to be a very persistent man. I usually get what I go after.
- 3:30Know something, mister Dollar, So do I old and this might turn
- 3:34out to be interesting. See you in a half hour tonight and every weekday
- 3:45night. Bob Bailey in the transcribed Adventures of the Man with the Action Packed

- 4:26Item twenty thousand dollars The face value of the policy on a pearl necklace stolen
- 4:30one week ago from Miss Melbury Crane, young socialite, one of the last
- 4:35two surviving members of the town's most aristocratic family, and, according to her
- 4:40own statement, a girl who always got what she went after. Well,
- 4:45I'd almost got what I'd gone after. I'd at least made contact with Smiley
- 4:48Prel, a jewel thief who had phoned Hartford and offered a deal. But
- 4:53that was all. Smiley had clammed up, started to stall and implied the
- 4:57whole thing was blowing up at his face, and now the victim herself was
- 5:00trying to stall, and on top of everything else, a storm was coming
- 5:03up. I left my hired car near the coach house and walked down a
- 5:10long arbor toward the entrance to the Crane mansion. It had been quite an
- 5:14estate once, still was, but the buildings needed a touch of paint here
- 5:16and there, and the gardens needed a gardener, just a hint of wear
- 5:20and tear. It fit with what I'd learned at the bank. Those still
- 5:26tops in local society. Melbourgh Crane and her uncle Phineas were flat broken.
- 5:30I was reaching to ring the doorbell when I saw the couple in the sun
- 5:33room, a man in a business suit and a girl in a maid's uniform,
- 5:38so busy with each other they didn't even notice me at first. It
- 5:42was an intensely romantic scene, and I started to feel like a peeping tom.
- 5:46The girl was still a little red faced when she answered the door a
- 5:48few seconds later. Good afternoon, sir, my name is Johnny Dollar.
- 5:55I'd like to see missus Uller. You're the investigator about the robbery later to
- 6:00wire everybody in town. I'm sorry, sir, I didn't mean to blurt
- 6:04it out, though. Oh I found it interesting. You know, we're
- 6:08going to get a little wet if that rain starts. Oh won't you come
- 6:11in? Mister Dallas. Thanks? You'll want to see miss Crane. I
- 6:16imagine, yes. I think she's expecting me. If you will wait here
- 6:19please. Oh by the way, I I didn't interrupt you. I hope
- 6:26I'll tell her you're here. Mister Dallas, Thanks, I think. Oh.
- 6:39Hello, you must be the insurance fellow. Did you get a wire
- 6:43or two? Why? No, Melbourne told me you were coming out.
- 6:46I'm a friend of the family, mister dalladean sellers, how are you Melbourne
- 6:50and I are engaged. Congratulations. Yeah, I know, so you're a
- 6:57hard to figure out. I'm a complete and enigma, mister Sellers. I
- 7:01believe you're the chap who gave miss Crane the necklace, right, yes,
- 7:04it's an engagement present. Do you have any lead on it yet? Nothing?
- 7:09Definitely. I understood you'd been contacted by the thief who stolen That's right.
- 7:13Well, I haven't actually seen the necklace yet, and until I do,
- 7:15I can't be positive this man, ever, well, even has it.
- 7:19It wouldn't be the first time a professional jewel thief has tried to pull
- 7:21a swindle. I see. Tell me something, mister dollar. Suppose you
- 7:28do get hold of the pearls. What happens to them? Then? Well
- 7:31that depends if missus Crane's claim hasn't been paid at the time they go to
- 7:35her. If it has been paid, then she refuses to reopen negotiations.
- 7:40Then we sell the necklace to recover our losses, and up till now,
- 7:43as I understand that the claim hasn't been paid, that's right, I see.
- 7:46Well, I hope you get it back quick. Then the insurance won't
- 7:49cover the sentimental value. Sentimental value to whom mister sellers to both of us.
- 7:58Oh, I know I saw you outside the sun room there strictly unintentioned.
- 8:03What I mean is his appearances can be deceiving sometimes. I wouldn't want
- 8:07you to misunderstand. Well, I think I understand perfectly. Mister Seller's good.
- 8:11Whether Miss Crane would or not may be something else. Again, Melville's
- 8:13very understanding. She must be. Well, I've got to run on.
- 8:18She'll be down in a minute at My office is in the Ridley Building.
- 8:20Drop in it. There's any way I can help. Thanks, I may
- 8:24just do that. I'm sorry to keep you waiting, mister Oh, that's
- 8:31all right. It gave me a chance to meet your fiancee. Oh were
- 8:35you talking with Dean? We exchanged a few pleasantries, isna darling. Wow.
- 8:41Of course he's a little headstrong sometimes and impulsive, but he never means
- 8:46any harm by it. How did you know? Personal observation? And also
- 8:50by an odd coincidence, that's exactly the way you were described to me.
- 8:56Oh, instead of beautiful, glamorous, seductive, I imagine it was assumed
- 9:01that I could see those qualities for myself. I wonder if I should buy
- 9:05that as it is, or analyze it face. I warn you, I'm
- 9:09dangerously subtled. I think you may be at that. Would you like a
- 9:13drink? Or are you one of those always stick to business type. I'm
- 9:16even worse. I could bind the two. I'll have Scotch on the rocks.
- 9:18That's my drink. I know we found something in common. We already
- 9:22had something. The robbery. Yeah, you want to talk about him?
- 9:28Why not? I want that necklace recovered as much as you do. Yes,
- 9:31I understand it has a high sentimental value. Who told you that your
- 9:35fiance? Oh, here's your drink? Thanks to pearls? The frozen tears
- 9:43from the eyes of Allah. A poetic cop, more cynical and poetic the
- 9:50man I heard call them that had just knifed a British colonial administrator and blown
- 9:54up a sampan with six Chinese fishermen aboard. Why nine pearls you wanted them?
- 10:00There were thirty eight in that nightlace of yours. This man did he
- 10:03get away with it? Not exactly? He was shot to death on the
- 10:07Hong Kong waterfront. This is good scotch. It is another thing? Was
- 10:15crane? I am not a cop poetic or Otherwise it amounts to the same
- 10:20thing, doesn't it. In some ways, I'm not professionally concerned with identifying
- 10:24and capturing criminals and bringing them to justice. My obligations on that score are
- 10:30no more nor less than those of any other private citizen. So I'm hired
- 10:33by the insurance company to protect their interests. Usually then involves trying to recover
- 10:37stolen property or looking for evidence of insurance fraud. I'm afraid I don't quite
- 10:45Sometimes I make deals miss crane meaning exactly what? Meaning that if somebody should
- 10:54start something and get in over their head, I might listen to reason,
- 10:58try to work something out. A cop, wouldn't he's not permitted to Well,
- 11:03that would all be very interesting, I'm sure. To the person who
- 11:07stole the necklace, Yeah, you'd think so, wouldn't you. What about
- 11:11that person, mister Dollar, the jewel thief who phoned the insurance company smiley
- 11:16prone. I talked to him a couple of hours ago. Briefly. Does
- 11:18he have the pruns? I don't know. Do you mind if I have
- 11:22another drink? Go ahead? What do you mean? You don't know?
- 11:26That's why you came here, wasn't it to meet him? And get them
- 11:30back. He may not have them. He may just be trying to swindle
- 11:33the insurance company. That's not too uncommon a game, you know. No,
- 11:37I wouldn't know. Oh yeah, let's tried every now and then,
- 11:41the nicest people. Sometimes he's looking at you. It seems to me you're
- 11:46taking this whole thing pretty calmly. Well, that's merely a front inside him,
- 11:52a seating volcano. Now they tell me something, Why did you postpone
- 11:56your wedding? I didn't. Dean was the one. Now what difference does
- 12:03it make? What's that got to do with it? Do you think he's
- 12:05changed his mind about marrying you? Suppose we leave mister Sellers out of it.
- 12:11Can't He's already in it. He's the one who gave you the necklace
- 12:13in the first place, an engagement gift. Has he called off the engagement,
- 12:18Miss Crane? He hasn't, and he won't, regardless of any rumors
- 12:24you may hear to the contrary. Now does that answer your question more or
- 12:28less? Then? Suppose we leave my personal life alone and talk about the
- 12:31robbery. That is, if you're at all interested in it. Where is
- 12:35the safe miss screen safe? Oh? That the necklace was in It's there
- 12:41behind that painting. Do you want to see it if you don't mind?
- 12:43Right, you and your uncle live here alone, as I understand it,
- 12:46my maid, of course, Betty Well, there's the safe. I doubt
- 12:52if you'll find any fingerprints or anything. The police spent hours on it.
- 12:58That's a real old fashioned one, has been around quite a while, mister
- 13:01Dona. Wouldn't be much of a job for a professional safecracker, you mean,
- 13:05even without the combination, even without How did the thief get into the
- 13:09house? Force a window somewhere? Door? No, with a key,
- 13:11I guess you see. It happened in the afternoon. I'd gone out and
- 13:16Uncle Phineas was out somewhere as usual. The house was empty at the time.
- 13:20What about your maiden, Betty Well? After I left, she decided
- 13:24to go into town to do some shopping or something. They couldn't possibly have
- 13:28picked a better time, apparently not. Would you like to look around the
- 13:33house? No, no thanks, I've got a pretty complete story from the
- 13:37police reports. Mostly I came out here to take a look at you.
- 13:41And what's your verdict? Maybe I'll do better with Smiley Prowl meeting him later.
- 13:46Oh, and is he going to produce the necklace? I don't know.
- 13:50He talked about a double cross, said he might give me more than
- 13:54I was bargaining for. He was pretty upset why, I don't know.
- 13:58Incidentally, mister Doller, there's someone else you'll no doubt me talking to,
- 14:03and I want to warn you about him. Who's that? Uncle Phineas?
- 14:05Of course he means all eyes he had strong and impulsive too. He makes
- 14:11up things sometimes, and he's well just a little bit vague. Bommy,
- 14:18you mean, mister Dollar. With people of our class, it's referred to
- 14:22as eccentric. I'm sure you understand. I left the house filled with understanding
- 14:37and with some brand new questions about the cranes that needed still more understanding.
- 14:43The lowering storm clouds had brought an early dusk, and it was nearly dark
- 14:46when I reached open the door of my car. Then suddenly I caught a
- 14:48flash of white at the corner of the coach house. Somebody had seen me
- 14:52and tried to duck out of sight. I walked quickly across the driveway and
- 14:54moved quietly up to the corner of the building. How are you betting?
- 15:01Can I help you with that. No, I mean I was just going
- 15:05to burn some trash. Well, let me put it in the incinerator for
- 15:09you here. Oh please, sure you sorted these papers. There seems to
- 15:11be something heavy here. Let me have it. Please. You won't understand
- 15:16why, missus Crane thought. I was very understanding. You've better run on.
- 15:20She sounds impatient. I'll take care of this, no, please,
- 15:22you won me. Oh. I watched a disappear into the shadows, running
- 15:28toward the house. Then I unwrapped the package she'd been trying to hide in
- 15:31the incinerator. It was a thirty two caliber revolver and one chamber had been
- 15:37fired recently. Johnny Dollar, this is Betty, mister Dollar, missus Crane's
- 16:00made. I'm the one who well, oh yeah, what can I do
- 16:04for you? Buddy? Have you told anyone about it? The gun?
- 16:07No? Not yet, Thank Heaven? Do you still have it? What
- 16:11do you think i'd do? Bury it somewhere? Oh? You look,
- 16:15somebody's used this gun, used it recently? Who was it? You know?
- 16:18I never saw it before? Then? Why were you trying to hide
- 16:22it in the incinerators? I was scared. I didn't know what I was
- 16:23doing. Is it your gun I found? Where? Please? Is it
- 16:27tied end with the theft of miss Crane's necklace. I don't know anything about
- 16:30it, about anything. I just know I'm in trouble. You've got to
- 16:34help me, mister dollar. Please. From Special Investigator Johnny Delly, location,
- 16:48Cranesburg, Ohio to the home office Tri State Guarantee Company, Hartford,
- 16:52Connecticut. Assignment the Crane matter expense account continued Item seven three ten cents for
- 17:03a bad steak and worse coffee in the hotel dining room. But it didn't
- 17:06matter much. I had to rush it anyway. With one eye on my
- 17:08watch. I was meeting jewel Thief's Swaney prel at his rooming house at nine
- 17:12o'clock and Melbourne, cranes made Betty was coming here to the hotel at ten,
- 17:17providing she could slip away from the house. The schedule was tightening up
- 17:21on me, but I still hadn't seen hide nor hair of the stolen necklace.
- 17:25That is, if hide nor hair can apply to a string of match
- 17:27pearls, and sure it for twenty thousand dollars fourteen twelve North Oak Streak was
- 17:37in the Lost and Forgotten corner of town doc and nearly deserted at this hour
- 17:41of the evening. The rooming house, a ramshackle frame built flush to the
- 17:45sidewalk, seemed to wait for me, brooding in silence. So when no
- 17:48names on the letterbox, is no sign of an office, I tried the
- 17:52front door. It was open. Room six was the number smile he had
- 17:57given me. I walked down the long hall, studying the numbers on the
- 18:03doors, with a dim light from a single bulb at the far end.
- 18:06For I've six, I heard the veriest hint of movement behind the door.
- 18:15In silence. I reached down quietly and turned the knob. The door was
- 18:22unlocked. I took a deep breath and then went in fact, hold what
- 18:27the devil? Take it easy, Mac, all right, hold it now,
- 18:32find the light switch. Well, well, i'll be mister. Ain't
- 18:40you a little out of your territory? Mister Crane, I don't know what
- 18:44you mean. Sit down before you shake your teeth loose. I beg your
- 18:47pardon, sir. I'll mention it if I may remind you who you're talking
- 18:52to. You don't have to remind me, your Phineas P. Crane,
- 18:56uncle of miss Melbury Crane, who had a pearl necklace stolen from her.
- 18:59You're one of the last two surviving members of the Crane family who founded Crane
- 19:03mister, and I have just caught you prowling the room of a known professional
- 19:06jewel thief. Now sit down, I can explain this. Yeah, I
- 19:14hope. So. I suppose our host isn't home. There's no one else
- 19:18here. Was the door unlocked or were you equipped with a set of keys?
- 19:22I beg your pardon again. You're the most polite burglar I've ever tagged.
- 19:27This is not the way it seems, I assure you all right.
- 19:30Now you've assured me, convinced me. I came to ask some questions of
- 19:36the gentleman who lives here. Do you know I'm certainly not. It's hardly
- 19:40likely that i'd be acquainted with a person of his type. Oh, I
- 19:42don't know. He's a jewel thief. Your niece had a necklace stolen ten
- 19:47days ago. It kind of adds up in a way. Oh, now,
- 19:49are you accusing me of complicity? I'm not accusing you of anything.
- 19:53I'm just trying to find out what you were doing hiding here in Smany Pewl's
- 19:56room. I came here to talk to what about but the reasons that personal
- 20:03stood out? Then you did know him. I knew he lived here because
- 20:10I followed him one day. I didn't know his name. I didn't know
- 20:14he was a jewel thief until you said so, just a moment ago.
- 20:18I know, I know this seems rather well. That's one way of putting
- 20:21it. You'd understand if I were in a position to explain, it might
- 20:25be a good idea. If you got in that position. In view of
- 20:27the circumstance, I simply cannot, and I do not believe your capacity is
- 20:33such that you can force me to. You're quite right, But the police
- 20:37might handle it somewhat different. I doubted very much. My grandfather founded this
- 20:41town. Yes, they remember that here a matter of pulling rank. Oh.
- 20:47I think they had leaned toward believing any reasonable story that I might give
- 20:51them. A story like that is reasonable only as long as there's no actual
- 20:55evidence to disprove it, and you have such evidence. Not yet, but
- 20:59I think I will be for Oh. Then I'll have to deal with that
- 21:03eventuality, when and if it happens. Who are you trying to protect?
- 21:07Mister Crane. I don't know what you mean. Why did you follow smiling?
- 21:11Because I saw him under rather unusual circumstance before or after the robbery?
- 21:15Well? After, yes, when I followed, Well, what was that
- 21:19tonight? No, there was several days. But I expect him to be
- 21:23here tonight. Oh were you accounting in his room being empty? I did
- 21:26not come here to commit burglary, May I remind you? Said? Oh?
- 21:32Yeah, I know your Phineas P. Crane, and you and your
- 21:34niece are the tip top aristocrats on the local totem poll. Also, I
- 21:37happen to know your flat. I imagine twenty thousand dollars worth of insurance would
- 21:41look pretty good, do you. I am not a thief. People have
- 21:45an odd moral sense. Sometimes a lot of them seem to think insurance for
- 21:48it is not quite the same as actual Do not happen to be one of
- 21:52those persons. Mister. What about your niece? Well, that necklace was
- 21:56given to her as an engagement gift by the man she's going to marry,
- 22:00and I'm sure it's value to hers much more than the amount of the insurance.
- 22:04Maybe and maybe not. You did tell me this afternoon that she's headstrong,
- 22:11impulsive, Yes, but I did not mean to imply soon. I
- 22:15imagine you'll be around when I want you. You're not the kind of man
- 22:21who runs away, So for the moment, play it your way, cover
- 22:25up and hide behind the family name. But sooner or later you're going to
- 22:27have to talk it out with somebody, either with me or someone else.
- 22:32Am I free to go now? Sure, sure, as far as I'm
- 22:37concerned. Unless you want to stick around and wait for Smiling well, I
- 22:41doubt whether there's much point in that. Now, under the circumstances, good
- 22:49nights, keep cool, mister Crane. I shall make every effort to As
- 22:57soon as Crane left, I made a quick search of the room and found
- 23:00nothing. Smileing evidently traveled light and lived light. There was hardly any sign
- 23:04he was even living in the place. I gave it up as a bad
- 23:08job, finally closed the door behind me and drove back to my hotel.
- 23:12I was starting to see a faint gleam of daylight in the case, but
- 23:15I couldn't quite figure how Phineas Crane fit into it, And unfortunately I was
- 23:19in no position to pushing very hard, since technically I had no more right
- 23:23in that room than he did. But all of my theories fell apart when
- 23:27I walked through the door of my hotel. Come right in, son,
- 23:34have a seat. Thanks. One of us could be in the wrong room,
- 23:40of course, not if your name's Dollar. Oh, I wasn't questioning
- 23:44my presence. Mister. You know fellow name Smiley Prell. Well, I
- 23:48know who he is. Got business with him? Have you? Maybe do
- 23:53I have any with you? Well, my name's Durham, mister Dollar ed
- 23:59Durham. Well, it's a little late, mister Durham, So if you
- 24:02don't mind, I'm chief of police here in Cranesburg. Oh, oh,
- 24:07maybe it's not as late as I thought. Found your name where this Philip
- 24:11Prail and wrote it down along with your room number here at the hotel.
- 24:15Call I some got a helpful though. You a friend of yours? No,
- 24:21No, I'd hardly call him that. Oh. I don't see any
- 24:23point holding out on your chief term. Here are my credentials. I'm an
- 24:27insurance investigator working on that crane robbery. You don't say Smiley Prail as a
- 24:32jewel thief two previous convictions. He found the insurance company in Hartford and wanted
- 24:37to talk a deal. I flew in here this afternoon. Well he's seemed
- 24:41to be an order all right, thanks. I had an appointment to meet
- 24:45prel this evening in his rumming house at nine o'clock, but he didn't show.
- 24:48I reckon, he wasn't in much shape to mister Diller, what do
- 24:52you mean Preill got himself shot four or five hours ago? Shot? Yeah,
- 24:57real shot. Matter of fact, he's dead, murdered. Kind of
- 25:03looks that way. Found him in a back alley behind the city Park.
- 25:07Must have happened sometime this afternoon. You wouldn't know anything about it, won't
- 25:12you, mister Dollar? I don't know. I might. Do you know
- 25:18what kind of a gun was used to kill him? Thirty two revolver according
- 25:21to the boys and ballistics. Hold onto your hat. I may have it
- 25:26right here, h don't bother looking under the mattress, mister Dollar. I
- 25:30already found it. I got it right here. You're pretty cagy, aren't
- 25:36you? Wasn't sure how to figure you, Reckon? You're all right though,
- 25:40or you'd have kept your mouth shut. Well, thanks, how'd you
- 25:42come by it? I'd take it away from Melbourn, Crane's housemaid. A
- 25:47girl named Betty. Yeah, I know who she is. It was some
- 25:49time between six thirty and seven this evening. I caught her trying to hide
- 25:52it in the incinerator. You don't say it's been fired, as you undoubtedly
- 25:56noticed. You might have a check through, but I don't imagine it's registered.
- 26:00It's registered, all right, Oh, we don't have many guns around
- 26:03here. I recognize this one right off belongs to Phineas Crane. What add
- 26:11up to anything, mister Dollar? Not the way I've been adding. It's
- 26:15got me stumped too. I don't suppose you found that necklace on Smiley Prow's
- 26:19body. No, not a sign of it. You figure then this murder
- 26:23is tied up some way with that robbery? What else is it? A
- 26:26figure? What about these Cranes? Chief? Just who are they? What
- 26:30are they? Well? An old line family, just to of them left
- 26:33now Phineas and Melbourne not as wealthy as they used to be. Made Elton
- 26:37Barkley at the bank told me the same thing. Funny thing about that though
- 26:40lately at least Old Phineas seems to have plenty of cash to jingle together.
- 26:44How lately not just since the robbery? If that's what you mean. It's
- 26:48longer than that last four or five months. That checks two with what Borkley
- 26:52said. You got some idea they planned that robbery, mister Doller, Oh,
- 26:56I don't know. I've got no evidence of it. If that's what
- 26:57you're asking. How do Phineas and Melbourn get along together? Well they kind
- 27:03of like royalty here. You know, they're pretty much to theirselves. Man,
- 27:06if they do have any trouble, it's never heard outside the house.
- 27:08Huh. What do you know about Melvin's fiance, this Dean Sellers. Well,
- 27:11he's been here about eight months, seems to be a pretty nice fellow
- 27:15civic leader and all that. Everybody in town thought it was just fine when
- 27:18they got engaged, figured they was meant for each other. Well, he
- 27:22certainly goes in for lavish gifts, a necklace with thirty eight match furls his
- 27:26credit expecting somebody. Yeah quiet, Oh, isn't ready let me in,
- 27:33mister Dollar just a minute, she phoned earlier, wants the gun back.
- 27:37Maybe you'd been a listening for the bath of the bathroom there, good idea,
- 27:41let me get set, okay, right, come in, Bettie,
- 27:49thank you, I've got to have it back, mister Dollar, have what
- 27:53back? The gun you were trying to hide in the incinerator this evening?
- 27:57Yes, of course you mean this one. Oh yes, please, mister
- 28:02Dollar. Somebody's trying to get me into trouble. I don't know. I
- 28:06found that gun, that's the truth, getting in a drawer in my room,
- 28:08out of the crane. I don't know. I don't know when I
- 28:11saw it. I got scared. I was trying to get rid of it
- 28:14when you stop me. And now tonight on the radio it says a man's
- 28:17been shot. Did you know him? No? You know whose gun this
- 28:19is? I don't know anything about it. Give it to me, please.
- 28:22I liked you, bunty, but I'm afraid things aren't that simple.
- 28:27What do you mean? All right? Chief, it's all yours. Now,
- 28:52here's our star to tell you about tomorrow's episode of this week's story.
- 28:56Tomorrow castle crumbles, Cupid goes to and a lovely Iceberg thoughts a bit join
- 29:03us. Want you yours truly, Johnny Dellar, yours truly? Johnny Dollar
- 29:10is starrying. Bob Bailey is transcribed in Hollywood, written by Less Crutchfield,
- 29:15and is produced and directed by Jack Johnstone. Be sure to join us tomorrow
- 29:18night at same time in station for the next exciting episode of Yours Truly Johnny
- 29:23Dollar. Roy Rowan speaking that talk by Johnny about being able to cunt neal
- 30:00and it's not being his job to catch criminals was kind of interesting. Well,
- 30:03welcome back, by the way. That was, of course in part
- 30:06two. Of course, with Johnny's sense of justice, he usually will end
- 30:11up doing that anyway, even if it's not strictly in the job description.
- 30:17Though back when it was just a jewel theft, he may just to blet
- 30:21some things slide. Clearly, we're left with a puzzle, but we're also
- 30:26left with some clear direction with her it's misdirection. Well, we'll find out
- 30:30on Friday when we'll actually have both parts four and five. And remember,
- 30:37for even though there's a little bit of a confusion that the first two parts
- 30:42were Part one in part one a Well, now that we're all thoroughly confused,
- 30:48let's turn to listener comments and feedback. I had a comment regarding episode
- 30:52eleven eighty five, the Crystal Lake matter. The Eric says, Crystal Lake
- 31:00wasn't that Jason stomping ground? You don't think nah couldn't be, of course,
- 31:07Jason in this case, I've not watch the films, but I've heard
- 31:11of them. Jason, of course reference to Friday the thirteen and apparently the
- 31:18setting there was Crystal Lake. Of course, that wasn't the only old time
- 31:22radio show to use the name Crystal Lake as as the name of a location.
- 31:32I was just I was just checking the through some other old time radio
- 31:41shows, and Armis Brooks actually had a program that was also said at Crystal
- 31:48Lake. I do think that from a frightening perspective that it's probably a lot
- 31:53more frightening to have something set at a place that sent something horrific set at
- 32:00place that sounds normal or maybe even peaceful. The older scary radio programs I
- 32:10have often have creepy things happening in creepy places, which isn't nearly as terrifying
- 32:17because most of us stay away from the creepy places. But not being a
- 32:21connoisseur of the genre, there could be a lot of productions that during the
- 32:27Golden Age that go another round. Finally, we have a comment on the
- 32:32Box thirteen feed in iTunes. I love listening to Box thirteen. Thanks for
- 32:37putting it on podcast. Well you're welcome, all right, Well, that
- 32:43will actually finish that portion of the show. I do want to encourage you
- 32:46to support our listener support campaign, and we have experimented with adding a lot
- 32:52of physical items just kind of see how listeners respond. Among those we added
- 32:59are some classic films. Some we are those we played on the war.
- 33:04Others are just ones based on characters that we're doing on this series or about
- 33:09to do. Among the options we have available, for example, you can
- 33:15get either Casablanca or The Big Sleep with Humphrey Bogart for a donation of fifty
- 33:21dollars or more. If you're in the US or Canada. And we have
