Latest / The Slippery Slope / RoboDebt and Scott Morrison
Transcript
- 0:12Hi Jeff Allen, thanks for listening to the slippery slope,
- 0:16says everyone. Remember Scotty Morrison, SCOMO
- 0:20former Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
- 0:24Look, in the end I think this fellow was a I think it was an
- 0:27embarrassment as a Prime Minister.
- 0:32And seriously, I would like anyone to prove me wrong.
- 0:37That's just my opinion. You can have whatever opinion
- 0:39you want. But I think he made so many
- 0:42mistakes. I couldn't believe how many
- 0:46times I heard him speak. And the way he seemed to not
- 0:51necessarily lie, but he did like to manipulate the truth and it
- 0:57some of it was blatant. And you have to sit there
- 1:00thinking, how does this follow? Think Anyway, I'm talking about
- 1:06Scott Morrison because obviously we've had this this big inquiry
- 1:09into the the robo debt, robo debt inception.
- 1:15So listen and look, so many people caught up in this issue
- 1:19with the robo debt, even myself, me and my wife were both
- 1:24harassed. Well, my wife more so harassed
- 1:28at various times in the past kind of.
- 1:32However many years ago it was now over this supposed debt with
- 1:37Centrelink at the time. I remember it first came out we
- 1:41were living far North Queensland I think was I was working as a
- 1:45police officer. My wife's receiving
- 1:50communications saying that she she owed all this money for
- 1:53Centrelink because we had. Children and obviously because
- 1:57of these payments that the government had made for like
- 2:02parenting allowances, the issue that we had was we'd never, you
- 2:06know, our children were quite a bit older.
- 2:08We didn't my my wife was working, I was working.
- 2:11We didn't receive payments from the governments.
- 2:14We hadn't for quite a long period of time since they were
- 2:18really little and it will be chased for.
- 2:22Thousands of dollars. Thousands of dollars.
- 2:24I think it was something like 7000, something like that.
- 2:27And it it didn't make sense. The argument for this money that
- 2:31we supposedly owed didn't make sense and it was.
- 2:36It's pretty stressful when you know, you're getting told the
- 2:39government and it wasn't, you know, it wasn't some fraudulent
- 2:45activity. It was the Australian government
- 2:48coming along and saying, ringing you, sending emails saying, hey.
- 2:52You owe us all this money. We're going to take legal
- 2:54action. You need to pay.
- 2:56You need to pay up. And then all these years later,
- 3:00we find out, Oh my bad, it was all unlawful, what we were
- 3:05doing. So this headline that comes out
- 3:10from it's the The New Daily. Scott Morrison rejects findings
- 3:15he misled the government during robo debt inception.
- 3:22Scott Morrison. Seriously, he.
- 3:26Like I said, I don't have a lot of respect for the man.
- 3:29I'll go through this little bit. Former Prime Minister Scott
- 3:32Morrison has rejected completely findings that he misled cabinet
- 3:36on the legality of the robo debt scheme following the release of
- 3:40the Royal Commission's Royal Commission's final report.
- 3:45The report states that Mister Morrison, who was social
- 3:48services minister from May 2014 until September 2015, allowed
- 3:54cabinet to be misled but not inquiring why, the department
- 3:58ignored its own suggestion from 2015 that using and averaging of
- 4:02income required legislation to be introduced.
- 4:09Look, I just want to go down to what SCOMO?
- 4:12Scomo said. So you know your statement,
- 4:14Morrison said He rejected completely, just not puts his
- 4:21hand up. Step off rejected completely.
- 4:25Each of the findings, which are critical to my involvement in
- 4:28authoring, authorizing the scheme and are adverse to me, to
- 4:34him, just rejects it. If it's adverse to me, I reject
- 4:37it. They are wrong, unsubstantiated
- 4:40and contradicted by clear documentary evidence presented
- 4:44to the Commission, he said. Goes on to say I acted in good
- 4:49faith and on clear and deliberate department advice,
- 4:52OK, this I cannot stand this about the government
- 4:56departments, about government workers, you know, anywhere from
- 5:03the police upwards. They all use this term, reacted
- 5:06in good faith. The problem is quite often they
- 5:10will go out and completely destroy, drag people through the
- 5:17mud, destroy lives and then they'll stand up.
- 5:20They have the audacity to stand up and say I acted in good
- 5:24faith. We hear police officers use that
- 5:27all the time. We acted in good faith.
- 5:28The commissioner here in Queensland says that she loves
- 5:31to pull that statement out, acted in good faith if you have
- 5:35gone and. Just destroyed someone's life,
- 5:38someone's livelihood. You've pulled them through the
- 5:41mud, and it's all been unlawful. You cannot stand behind this,
- 5:49this defense of acting in good faith.
- 5:56Just frustrating. So he says, yeah, acted in good
- 5:58faith. Deliberate.
- 6:01Acted in good faith and unclear and deliberate department advice
- 6:05that no legislation was required to introduce the scheme, and
- 6:09presented comprehensive evidence to support this position.
- 6:13He also rejected that he pressured anyone into believing
- 6:18the scheme did not need legislation, describing it as an
- 6:22offense and baseless assertion. Here's the problem, old SCOMO.
- 6:29Prime Minister's former Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
- 6:34It was caught out lying so many times while he was Prime
- 6:36Minister. Just just one, just one.
- 6:42One falsehood I clearly remember and it was to do with the
- 6:46coronavirus, the the Charlie Victor mandates that were coming
- 6:50out scomer was telling everyone, the governments.
- 6:54Would not make it mandatory. He would not make it.
- 6:57They would not make it mandatory to receive the to receive the
- 7:03vaccine and continue working. The issue was, and he would
- 7:07always say, he'd say things like this and he'd have this stupid
- 7:10little smirk on his face while he was saying it because he knew
- 7:13he was lying. The problem was.
- 7:16Is that manipulation of truth? He knew very well.
- 7:18It was already in the works that big business that businesses
- 7:22would bring in this, these rules themselves and also that state
- 7:26government. But he would use the phrasing
- 7:28well, you know, the federal government's not not going to do
- 7:31that. They are not going to make it.
- 7:32The federal government's not going to make it mandatory.
- 7:36But at the same time, he's Panther on fire because he knew
- 7:39very well. That business and state
- 7:42governments would bring in the rules, would bring in the
- 7:45legislation, that you could not go to work unless you were
- 7:48vaccinated. There's a plethora of other
- 7:54lies, just blatant lies that he told.
- 7:58You know, the man cannot be trusted.
- 8:02The audacity of him to stand up and say I just reject all
- 8:05findings, anything against me, despicable.
- 8:10Now with these, with this royal Commission, there are they have
- 8:15actually had criminal referrals. But the issue is again talk
- 8:21about covering up. There's always this, there's
- 8:23always this, you know, the upper echelon of society, it feels
- 8:28like they are protected. So we we've got all this, all
- 8:33these findings, but they've got a sealed section, so sealed.
- 8:37Referrals of individuals for civil and criminal prosecution
- 8:41means the complete picture still isn't clear in the report.
- 8:46Royal Commissioner Catherine Holmes said she recommended the
- 8:49referrals not be publicly released so as not to prejudice
- 8:54the the conduct of any future civil actions or criminal
- 8:59prosecution. Robodets involved process of
- 9:02data matching. I won't get through all of that.
- 9:06But the issue is they've got this seal section.
- 9:08They need to just make everything.
- 9:10I I get why they're saying it, because it's, you know, because
- 9:14of because of prejudicing future civil actions or criminal
- 9:21prosecutions. But there needs to be a
- 9:25definitive time limit to how long you can have this seal
- 9:29section in. And hopefully it's only no more
- 9:32than 12 months. They need to get this underway.
- 9:35If they're going to pursue criminal, criminal action, it
- 9:39needs to be done. The Australian public need to
- 9:41know hopefully Scomo was held accountable and he cannot just
- 9:46stand up and put his hand up and say no.
- 9:48I reject all findings. Hopefully he is pushed along, he
- 9:52is, he is prosecuted. That's my own hope because like
- 9:57I said, the man is a liar, cannot be trusted.
- 10:01We cause so much harm to so many, so many Australians.
- 10:05It's despicable. Anyway, that's all just my
- 10:09opinion. Let me know what you think.
- 10:12Were you affected by this Rover debt scheme?
- 10:17Let me know. Thanks for listening to the
- 10:20slippery slope.
