- 0:17SPEAKER_10: Text Dave! Big Orange!

- 0:29SPEAKER_09: From Rocky Top, direct from the coaches.
- 0:32SPEAKER_09: Insight from the players, the inside track.
- 0:36SPEAKER_09: Mike Keith starts now.
- 0:40SPEAKER_10: Tennessee looks for its third straight SEC win at its sixth win overall.
- 0:46SPEAKER_10: As the volunteers play this afternoon at Neeland Stadium Preserved by pilot.
- 0:52SPEAKER_10: This third Saturday in October challenge is similar to the 97 before it.
- 0:57SPEAKER_10: Play well in order to beat a good team.
- 1:00SPEAKER_10: As always, the basic message in these games, and Josh Heifel has preached it this week.
- 1:07SPEAKER_10: He has also reinforced that Tennessee has what they need to win.
- 1:13SPEAKER_10: For nine months, staff has poured into these players ways to go deeper, ways to go further, ways to empty the tank in a manner not seen recently.
- 1:25SPEAKER_10: Hypo is leaning on that today.
- 1:28SPEAKER_10: He has leaned deeply into Nealan's game maxim.
- 1:32SPEAKER_10: If at first the game or the breaks go against you, put on more steam.
- 1:38SPEAKER_10: Today Tennessee must play well, true, but they must also put on more steam.
- 1:45SPEAKER_10: The willingness to go deeper, going further.
- 1:48SPEAKER_10: That is what the victor does on the third Saturday in October.
- 1:53SPEAKER_10: So as the crowd begins to rise and the pride of the Southland Marching band gets in formation in the North End Zone, we see the volunteers out just outside of the North End Zone.
- 2:10SPEAKER_10: Let's see that Orange, ladies and gentlemen, here they come again.
- 2:18SPEAKER_10: And wherever you're listening, throughout the world, we remind you, it's football time in Tennessee.
- 2:30SPEAKER_10: Tennessee has taken the fight to Alabama to begin this game.
- 2:37SPEAKER_10: McIntyre play fake throws complete.
- 2:39SPEAKER_10: Burned got room.
- 2:40SPEAKER_10: 25-40, green 35-30, 25, and Brain is somersaulted down at the 24-yard line by O'Neill.
- 2:48SPEAKER_10: Gain of 26.
- 2:49SPEAKER_10: First down, Big Orange.
- 2:51SPEAKER_11: Nice play fake by George McIntyre getting Brain in the flat.
- 2:55SPEAKER_11: Nice soft pass.
- 2:56SPEAKER_11: Touchable.
- 2:57SPEAKER_10: And he had room to run.
- 2:58SPEAKER_10: Alabama with a tight end as a wing on either side on third down and 10.
- 3:05SPEAKER_10: Russell to throw it.
- 3:10SPEAKER_10: Going high in the air to pick it off his lane.
- 3:13SPEAKER_10: And he's down at the Alabama 43-yard line.
- 3:22SPEAKER_10: Alabama on third down.
- 3:25SPEAKER_10: Not so good.
- 3:27SPEAKER_10: Almost disastrous, to be honest with you.
- 3:30SPEAKER_10: And Lane goes high in the air to pick it off.
- 3:33SPEAKER_10: Russell has not had an interception since the Kentucky game in week two.
- 3:39SPEAKER_11: Is anyone surprised?
- 3:40SPEAKER_11: That's Dakon Lane.
- 3:41SPEAKER_11: He's a playmaker, doing a good job of reading the eyes of the quarterback.
- 3:44SPEAKER_11: He had a man open, but his footwork made the ball sell, and Lane was there for the easy pick.
- 3:51SPEAKER_11: He made it easy.
- 3:52SPEAKER_11: In the pistol.
- 3:55SPEAKER_10: Handoff Bishop, touchback, 35.
- 3:57SPEAKER_10: Bishop outside to the 30.
- 3:59SPEAKER_10: Hurries the corner to the 25.
- 4:01SPEAKER_10: Hit by Lee and finally taken down inside the 22.
- 4:06SPEAKER_10: 20 yards on the play.
- 4:08SPEAKER_11: First down, Tennessee.
- 4:10SPEAKER_11: What a jump cut.
- 4:11SPEAKER_11: Took it front side, but he saw a hole on the backside.
- 4:13SPEAKER_11: Was able to get there and follow his blocks.
- 4:16SPEAKER_11: Good job by the receivers.
- 4:18SPEAKER_11: Not picking up any type of penalties down the field, but just a great individual effort by Deshaun Bishop.
- 4:23SPEAKER_11: They must get it to the 13.
- 4:27SPEAKER_10: They get on the ball.
- 4:30SPEAKER_10: Inside handoff.
- 4:32SPEAKER_10: It's taken by Hill.
- 4:35SPEAKER_10: He lost the ball and Tennessee recovered.
- 4:38SPEAKER_10: Yes! They tried to hand it to Hill.
- 4:41SPEAKER_10: Hill never got it cleanly, and the balls get it away.
- 4:47SPEAKER_10: First down, Tennessee.
- 4:49SPEAKER_10: Lane comes up with the ball as Alabama tries to run an inside trap with Hill lined up as an offset fullback.
- 4:58SPEAKER_10: And something went wrong.
- 5:01SPEAKER_10: Alabama has turned it over for a third straight time.
- 5:07SPEAKER_10: As the balls get number 10, Dijon Lane, gobbling up the football at the 11.
- 5:14SPEAKER_11: And Alabama with a gift.
- 5:16SPEAKER_11: Tennessee stopping Alabama's offense for a field goal would have been pitcher perfect.
- 5:20SPEAKER_11: This is even more pitcher perfect.
- 5:22SPEAKER_10: Fourth down and one at the Tennessee 40.
- 5:27SPEAKER_10: Coming with multiple tight ends.
- 5:30SPEAKER_10: It is a big group.
- 5:31SPEAKER_10: T Lander on his way back in for Norman now.
- 5:36SPEAKER_10: It's fourth, and it appears to be almost a full yard.
- 5:42SPEAKER_10: Alabama in this game, 0 of 1 on fourth down attempts.
- 5:46SPEAKER_10: They get on the ball quickly.
- 5:47SPEAKER_10: High formation.
- 5:49SPEAKER_10: Russell gonna hand it to the second man Hill.
- 5:53SPEAKER_10: He did not make it.
- 5:57SPEAKER_10: And who was it?
- 5:58SPEAKER_10: Robinson first.
- 6:01SPEAKER_10: T Lander was there as well.
- 6:03SPEAKER_10: And he wasn't even close.
- 6:09SPEAKER_11: Line of scrimmage move.
- 6:10SPEAKER_11: Winning one-on-one matchups.
- 6:12SPEAKER_11: Moving the line of scrimmage is why Tennessee's defense is able to pick up that fourth down stop against running back that's really a load for Alabama.
- 6:21SPEAKER_10: McIntyre takes the snap, gives Bishop at left yard 20.
- 6:25SPEAKER_10: 15, 10, 5, and down.
- 6:28SPEAKER_10: Just inside the five-yard line.
- 6:30SPEAKER_10: Sab with the tackle.
- 6:32SPEAKER_11: Great job, guard to guard in the interior of the offensive line for Tennessee, creating a wide open hole for Bishop to run through.
- 6:41SPEAKER_10: 20-yard gain for Bishop.
- 6:43SPEAKER_10: Alabama tighten up the defense extensively.
- 6:47SPEAKER_10: McIntyre gives Bishop ramming at left over.
- 6:52SPEAKER_10: Touchdown! Tennessee! Deshaun Bishop was not gonna finish until he broke the plane, and indeed he did.
- 7:12SPEAKER_11: That is a Deshaun Bishop drive right there.
- 7:15SPEAKER_11: Hit the backfield, hit down the field, he's still going forward, pushing for extra yards this time with before Tennessee touchdown.
- 7:23SPEAKER_10: Four man front Tennessee, seven in the box.
- 7:27SPEAKER_10: Second and five.
- 7:28SPEAKER_10: Russell floats to his right, has time under pressure.
- 7:46SPEAKER_10: Now it's going to be third down and 12 back at the 23-yard line.
- 7:51SPEAKER_10: That was a coverage sack.
- 7:53SPEAKER_11: Yeah, absolutely.
- 7:53SPEAKER_11: Alabama trying to run a out and up, waiting for it to develop, giving Wethersby plenty of time to get to the quarterback.
- 8:01SPEAKER_10: McIntyre in the pistol with the tight end offset to the left.
- 8:07SPEAKER_10: Keeps, rolls right, looks, looks, Myers downfield complete.
- 8:12SPEAKER_10: Matthews at the 45 of Alabama, and he is out of bounds in Alabama territory at the 42.
- 8:19SPEAKER_10: Lee was chasing him.
- 8:20SPEAKER_11: Nice peg, G Mack.
- 8:23SPEAKER_11: Yeah, G Mack being patient, being patient.
- 8:26SPEAKER_11: Mike Matthews finding the open area in the zone, working back to his quarterback.
- 8:32SPEAKER_11: Great play there.
- 8:33SPEAKER_11: That's how you draw it up.
- 8:35SPEAKER_10: What a quote somebody heard on the radio last week.
- 8:38SPEAKER_10: Mike Matthews is good.
- 8:39SPEAKER_10: Make sure Frey looked close.
- 8:42SPEAKER_10: Tennessee gonna get on the ball.
- 8:44SPEAKER_10: They have big people in the backfield.
- 8:46SPEAKER_10: George McIntyre under center.
- 8:50SPEAKER_10: Takes the snap.
- 8:52SPEAKER_10: Gives Bishop first down and then some.
- 8:56SPEAKER_10: He's inside the 15 to the 14.
- 8:59SPEAKER_10: Let me tell you what that is, ladies and gentlemen.
- 9:02SPEAKER_10: First down, big orange.
- 9:04SPEAKER_10: Woodson finally makes the tackle.
- 9:08SPEAKER_10: As the men in orange just line up and say, we're coming.
- 9:13SPEAKER_10: You can't stop us.
- 9:14SPEAKER_11: You play to win the game.
- 9:18SPEAKER_11: Tennessee.
- 9:19SPEAKER_11: First down.
- 9:20SPEAKER_11: McIntyre.
- 9:23SPEAKER_10: Gonna give it to Bishop.
- 9:25SPEAKER_10: Remick forward.
- 9:26SPEAKER_10: Into the end zone! Touchdown! Tennessee! What?
- 9:44SPEAKER_10: Fifteen plays, seventy-two yards, nine thirty-two off the clock.
- 9:54SPEAKER_11: Derek Owens in the strength conditioner program.
- 9:57SPEAKER_11: That's why you brought him in.
- 9:59SPEAKER_11: Tennessee has been tougher in the second half.
- 10:02SPEAKER_11: The last two possessions for Tennessee proved that.
- 10:04SPEAKER_11: Running the ball right down Alabama's throat.
- 10:08SPEAKER_10: Blitz coming.
- 10:10SPEAKER_10: Russell, big chase.
- 10:12SPEAKER_10: Russell in trouble.
- 10:13SPEAKER_10: Throws toward the end zone, and the pass is intercepted.
- 10:17SPEAKER_10: Tennessee.
- 10:18SPEAKER_10: Kane Lee.
- 10:22SPEAKER_10: Touchback.
- 10:24SPEAKER_10: The ball will go to Tennessee.
- 10:27SPEAKER_10: The blitz, the pressure, he threw it up for grabs.
- 10:32SPEAKER_10: And it looks like young Russell actually intended it for Lee.
- 10:39SPEAKER_10: Because number 14 camped out under it for his second INT of the campaign.
- 10:46SPEAKER_11: Yeah, brought the blitz from the third level.
- 10:49SPEAKER_11: Russell was trying to get outside the pocket, but our containment forced him to stay in the pocket and he had to throw it up.
- 10:55SPEAKER_11: Lee was there for the interception.
- 10:57SPEAKER_10: McIntyre is in the best formation in all of football.
- 11:02SPEAKER_10: In the very best game to be in that formation.
- 11:07SPEAKER_10: The Alabama game.
- 11:08SPEAKER_10: George McIntyre takes a knee.
- 11:12SPEAKER_10: Alabama heads for the exit.
- 11:16SPEAKER_10: Tennessee heads for the student section to celebrate with their peers at the University of Tennessee, many of whom are going to spill out onto the field to enjoy this incredible moment.
- 11:37SPEAKER_10: Physically, Tennessee beat Alabama in a way that I don't think many around the country thought they could.
- 11:48SPEAKER_10: The secret is out.
- 11:50SPEAKER_10: This is a different University of Tennessee football program.
- 11:55SPEAKER_10: And one more thing.
- 12:11SPEAKER_10: As the crowd goes, Berserk.
- 12:16SPEAKER_10: Tennessee 26.
- 12:20SPEAKER_10: Alabama 10.
- 12:27SPEAKER_10: In the air, cigars smoke and enjoyment.
- 12:31SPEAKER_10: Because the third Saturday in October 2026 belongs to the men in orange and white at Dixieland Delight.
- 12:46SPEAKER_10: A song about Tennessee.
- 12:48SPEAKER_10: Plays over the loudspeakers.
- 12:52SPEAKER_10: Alabama has now lost two football teams in a row for the first time in 13 years.
- 13:01SPEAKER_10: And the balls handed them that very sound, very convincing defeat.
- 13:13SPEAKER_10: Jason Swain, Tennessee, handle Alabama.
- 13:19SPEAKER_11: It's beautiful.
- 13:21SPEAKER_11: Nothing like winning in Sonyl Stadium.
- 13:24SPEAKER_11: There's nothing like beating Alabama in Sonylan Stadium.
- 13:30SPEAKER_11: Happy for our players, happy for our coaches, and our fans.
- 13:34SPEAKER_11: Enjoy if you got them, smoking.
- 13:40SPEAKER_10: The students all enjoying this moment.
- 13:46SPEAKER_10: As the football players in Tennessee with no interest in leaving Shields Watkins Field.
- 14:20SPEAKER_10: You can act as if it's just a football game.
- 14:26SPEAKER_10: But it's not.
- 14:28SPEAKER_10: It's a classic Southern tradition.
- 14:33SPEAKER_10: And it hurts so much to lose.
- 14:36SPEAKER_10: It's 364 days of pain and agony and having to see all the Alabama fans you could ever know in your entire life.
- 14:50SPEAKER_10: But winning?
- 14:53SPEAKER_10: Wow.
- 14:54SPEAKER_10: It's hard to describe the difference, the 180-degree turn that your soul feels when you know that for the next 52 weeks, you are the victim.

- 18:03SPEAKER_03: At Rackley Roofing, we are not a one-man team.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: We're actually not a two-man team.
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: Everyone is a critical part of the journey.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Championship teams are not built by one person.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: Great companies aren't either.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: Like the balls, coaches and players need to learn to handle the pressure, including the pressure of success.

- 18:56SPEAKER_16: Glenn asks, Coach, how does one join the VOL Navy?
- 19:00SPEAKER_16: It's a great question.
- 19:04SPEAKER_16: Well, Glenn, you don't necessarily need a boat.
- 19:07SPEAKER_16: You need a friend with a boat.
- 19:09SPEAKER_16: Always arrive with beef, fresh cut by a food city butcher, and you'll be welcomed aboard.
- 19:14SPEAKER_16: This has been Ask Coach Hypel.
- 19:16SPEAKER_16: With me, Coach Heifel.
- 19:18SPEAKER_18: What does the$7 Big Deal meal get you at Sonic?
- 19:22SPEAKER_18: The real question is, what doesn't it get you?
- 19:24SPEAKER_18: Enjoy a full meal, now including dessert for just$7.
- 19:29SPEAKER_18: Try the$7 Sonic Big Deal meal today.
- 19:31SPEAKER_18: You want to live free?
- 19:43SPEAKER_10: You have talked about your defensive line play being unselfish.
- 19:48SPEAKER_10: Would you mind explaining how that works in terms of the defensive line functioning together?
- 19:54SPEAKER_16: Yeah, the you know, whether it's it's run game or pass game, uh some of the stunts, the twists that you have uh are designed in a way for you to help your buddy get in position to make the play.
- 20:08SPEAKER_16: And uh to do that, you gotta execute it at a really high level.
- 20:12SPEAKER_16: Uh sometimes you're uh the guy that's trying to eat up to to get your buddy free.
- 20:17SPEAKER_16: And uh this group has executed those things at a really high level.
- 20:23SPEAKER_16: Um that's why I talk about them playing unselfishly.
- 20:42SPEAKER_16: Absolutely.
- 20:42SPEAKER_16: Uh Interior guys helping edges, edges helping interior guys.
- 20:47SPEAKER_16: Um, that group has had a dramatic impact on you know really every football game.
- 20:53SPEAKER_16: Uh and it's a credit to those guys that are playing in that style uh consistently.
- 20:59SPEAKER_16: We're gonna need that from them uh this week when we go on the run.
- 21:02SPEAKER_10: Harry Weathersby is the SEC's defensive lineman of the week.
- 21:07SPEAKER_10: What is he doing so well through seven games this year?
- 21:10SPEAKER_16: Yeah, playing extremely hard.
- 21:12SPEAKER_16: Uh he does a great job with his hands.
- 21:14SPEAKER_16: Um he's got extremely violent, strong punch.
- 21:18SPEAKER_16: Um, and you see that in the run game, but that's also played out in his uh his pass rush.
- 21:24SPEAKER_16: Um as a sack that I showed our our football team on uh uh Monday morning uh of him just being relentless and uh getting to the quarterback.
- 21:34SPEAKER_10: His development from year three to year four.
- 21:38SPEAKER_16: Well, I think uh he's probably at his healthiest uh physically right now.
- 21:43SPEAKER_16: Uh that's a part of it.
- 21:44SPEAKER_16: Um just continued growth in in fundamentals and uh he's become a guy that's uh doing a really good job leading that unit uh as far as the defensive line as well.
- 22:00SPEAKER_10: How would you describe it?
- 22:02SPEAKER_16: He's extremely smart, has mastered what we're doing on the defensive side of the football, has been in it for a couple of years now.
- 22:10SPEAKER_16: Um, but he's playing uh with uh you know the ability to make tackles.
- 22:15SPEAKER_16: Like he is a really good tackler, uh, fundamentally body position, understanding when it's time to pull your trigger, uh, using his arms, um, and he's great in communication too.
- 22:27SPEAKER_16: Just uh some of the subtle things that we do defensively with our front based off of what we're seeing.
- 22:33SPEAKER_16: Uh, he does a really good job of understanding those things and uh and making sure that we're all in sync.
- 22:38SPEAKER_10: Cornerback Kayon Lee has continued to show up, certainly did in the win on Saturday.
- 22:43SPEAKER_10: Bringing him in as a fourth-year player to go with Ty Redman, what has he added in terms of that consistency at corner?
- 22:53SPEAKER_16: Yeah, uh a guy that threw Springball was starting to pick up on what we were doing defensively.
- 23:00SPEAKER_16: The last third of Springball took a real jump and continued that through the summer, and that's why he's performed the way that he has.
- 23:07SPEAKER_16: Uh, he's got great understanding of you know what we're doing defensively, but understanding offensive sets, you know, spacing, what what's the split uh and within the scope of our coverage uh is playing with great eyes, playing with really good fundamentals and technique, and doing a really good job matching things out and playing the ball when it's in the air.
- 23:26SPEAKER_10: Where were you most pleased about the offense's jump from Arkansas to Alabama?
- 23:31SPEAKER_16: Well, there's still uh another big jump uh left there.
- 23:34SPEAKER_16: Uh we continue to do things that hurt us uh during the course of a drive uh pre-snap.
- 23:40SPEAKER_16: Um we're we're giving things away and uh making it easier for the defense.
- 23:45SPEAKER_16: We have to get uh a better handle on those things that we're in control of for us to be as efficient as we're capable of offensively.
- 23:52SPEAKER_10: But a 15-play, 72-yard drive for nine and a half minutes, that does show some overall consistency.
- 23:59SPEAKER_10: So you're seeing the steps, and you're starting to say, oh gosh, we're getting so much closer.
- 24:04SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I like that you swung it to the positive.
- 24:06SPEAKER_16: Uh absolutely.
- 24:07SPEAKER_16: Uh uh that drive uh to go finish the fourth quarter.
- 24:11SPEAKER_16: Um it's important that you're able to play that way, you execute that way, go finish in the end zone.
- 24:17SPEAKER_16: Uh, it's a credit to all 11, in particular uh our front five and our our tight ends and running backs.
- 24:23SPEAKER_10: Eighth straight week you've played, four straight, very physical, emotional SEC games.
- 24:28SPEAKER_10: You've been asked a lot of questions about do you handle this week differently from the load management standpoint?
- 24:35SPEAKER_10: How do you approach that when your team has some momentum on the field that I'm I know you don't want to break up?
- 24:41SPEAKER_16: Now we we've already subtly uh tweaked some things in our practices from what we're doing earlier.
- 24:47SPEAKER_16: Um, you know, based on the health of each individual, uh how much good on good work they're gonna get.
- 24:53SPEAKER_16: Uh we are are smart and monitoring, um, but you got to continue to get better and and uh you got to practice to do that.
- 25:01SPEAKER_16: So uh we need to win our preparation.
- 25:03SPEAKER_16: We need to win the practice this week uh to give ourselves a chance to go play the way we're capable and need to uh when we get to South Carolina on Saturday.
- 25:11SPEAKER_10: Finally, first look at South Carolina, first thoughts that you have as you begin the preparation week for the game cox.
- 25:17SPEAKER_16: Yeah, really good football team that uh hit their stride uh a week ago.
- 25:21SPEAKER_16: Uh big time win uh down in in Gainesville.
- 25:25SPEAKER_16: Um quarterback that's dynamic, experience, uh, can make plays with his his legs, obviously, his arm as well.
- 25:32SPEAKER_16: Uh their defense, extremely difficult to run the football against.
- 25:36SPEAKER_16: Uh, they're athletic on the edges, they can impact the quarterback really quickly uh in the pocket when you drop back.
- 25:42SPEAKER_16: Uh it would be a huge test for us.
- 25:44SPEAKER_10: Josh Heipel, congratulations.
- 25:46SPEAKER_10: Congrat Josh Heipel, congratulations on the win and looking forward to seeing you later in the week as we take a deeper dive into South Carolina.
- 25:53SPEAKER_16: I appreciate it.
- 25:54SPEAKER_10: Head coach Josh Hypel with us on the Mike Keith show.
- 25:57SPEAKER_10: His visits are presented by Calhounes.
- 25:59SPEAKER_10: We're back with more of the show right after this.
- 26:02SPEAKER_04: It's time for the Sonic big play moment.
- 26:04SPEAKER_04: Macinton gives Bishop landing at left over.
- 26:12SPEAKER_10: Tennessee.
- 26:13SPEAKER_10: This gentleman Bishop was not gonna finish until he broke the plane.
- 26:19SPEAKER_11: And indeed he did.
- 26:22SPEAKER_11: Bishop and the defender in the holly random sprint over.
- 26:25SPEAKER_04: Get to the end zone.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: If you're looking for a meal that's never boring and guarantees fun, look no further than Sonic and the$7 big deal meal.
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: Sonic cheeseburger, small premium chicken bites, medium drink, and your choice of a medium tot or fry.
- 26:42SPEAKER_09: Taking you inside the walls of Rocky Top, the Mike Keat Show presented by Uber Eats.
- 26:49SPEAKER_09: It is your Ball Network.
- 26:55SPEAKER_10: Red Hubs from BallQuest.com and the Ball Radio Network joins me here on the Monday edition of the Mike Eat Show delivered by Uber Eats.
- 27:04SPEAKER_10: All right, so let me throw this out about the defense.
- 27:06SPEAKER_10: I wrote this down.
- 27:07SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 27:09SPEAKER_10: Big plays.
- 27:11SPEAKER_10: Big plays by the defense made by the following players.
- 27:15SPEAKER_10: Lane, Redmond, Lee, T.
- 27:19SPEAKER_10: Lander, Campbell, Carter, Robinson, Wethersby, multiple, Gilliam Moss.
- 27:27SPEAKER_10: And there were others too that could be considered big big plays, and other people, those are just the ones that jumped out to me from memory.
- 27:34SPEAKER_10: What does that say about Jim Knowles' defense?
- 27:37SPEAKER_19: I I think it says it says everything about the continuity of this group, the trust that they have in each other, and everybody doing their job.
- 27:47SPEAKER_19: And you've heard Jim Knowles talk about this.
- 27:50SPEAKER_19: I'm gonna put guys in positions to make plays.
- 27:53SPEAKER_19: They've got to go do their job.
- 27:54SPEAKER_19: Nobody has to freelance it.
- 27:56SPEAKER_19: Do your job.
- 27:57SPEAKER_19: You go look at the Jeremiah T.
- 27:59SPEAKER_19: Lander sack on the fumble that he calls first quarter.
- 28:02SPEAKER_19: First quarter.
- 28:03SPEAKER_19: Go watch what Davin Hobbs does on that play.
- 28:06SPEAKER_19: He does his job.
- 28:08SPEAKER_19: He takes the guard and runs him into the tackle, which allows T Lander to scrape inside on a little delayed stunt, and he's got a free run at the quarterback.
- 28:17SPEAKER_19: It's a great play by T Lander.
- 28:19SPEAKER_19: Good closing speed, knocks the ball out.
- 28:21SPEAKER_19: It's the highlight play.
- 28:22SPEAKER_19: But it's what his teammate did for him to get that play.
- 28:27SPEAKER_19: And that's what this coaching staff is talking about, where guys aren't freelancing trying to get their own.
- 28:33SPEAKER_19: They're doing their they're doing their job.
- 28:36SPEAKER_19: And sometimes that means the play comes to you, and sometimes that means setting your teammate up teammate up for a play.
- 28:42SPEAKER_19: So you have that going on.
- 28:44SPEAKER_19: The other thing, too, is everybody's in the spots where they're supposed to be.
- 28:47SPEAKER_19: There's just to this point, knock on wood, this team has not busted on the defensive side of the ball.
- 28:52SPEAKER_19: They they really haven't majorly.
- 28:54SPEAKER_19: Not majorly.
- 28:55SPEAKER_19: I mean, they've given up five plays of 30 yards or more this season.
- 28:58SPEAKER_19: Two of them were running plays to Furman in the fourth quarter in mop-up duty.
- 29:02SPEAKER_19: They have really taken away those types of plays.
- 29:06SPEAKER_19: They've tackled great in space.
- 29:08SPEAKER_19: They'll have to do that continually moving down the stretch of the season.
- 29:11SPEAKER_19: But man, they're just fundamentally sound to play football.
- 29:15SPEAKER_19: And I think that's what you see when you write off all those names.
- 29:17SPEAKER_19: Is everybody's fundamentally playing the scheme.
- 29:20SPEAKER_10: Okay, so fundamentally, and playing the scheme.
- 29:23SPEAKER_10: Let's stay with that.
- 29:24SPEAKER_10: Is the second part to that, the 1B to that 1A, how well this team is tackling?
- 29:31SPEAKER_10: Period?
- 29:31SPEAKER_19: No question.
- 29:32SPEAKER_19: No question to me.
- 29:34SPEAKER_19: I mean, I I don't know that I've seen this.
- 29:36SPEAKER_19: Pro football focus, you you look at some of their stats and you can interpret whatever you want to with those things, but their snap counts are accurate.
- 29:42SPEAKER_19: I think most of the time, some of the other stats like missed tackles are accurate.
- 29:46SPEAKER_19: At five on Saturday.
- 29:48SPEAKER_19: Only five.
- 29:49SPEAKER_19: The linebackers did not have a miss tackle in the game on Saturday.
- 29:53SPEAKER_19: You go back and look, um zone read, it's third and one in the third quarter.
- 29:59SPEAKER_19: Amari Campbell stays home, plays it, form tackle, good wrestling, double leg, minus two.
- 30:05SPEAKER_19: It's now third and three instead of instead of a first down.
- 30:09SPEAKER_19: If he doesn't make the tackle, you know, you get the quarterback free in open space.
- 30:14SPEAKER_19: Uh you had Russell step up and leak out.
- 30:17SPEAKER_19: Here comes Quay Moss, didn't shoulder bump him, didn't let try to swipe at the leg, absolutely ran through his hip in a perfect form tackle to finish it off.
- 30:28SPEAKER_19: This is a great tackling football team right now.
- 30:31SPEAKER_19: I mean, really, really good.
- 30:33SPEAKER_19: That that is the biggest area fundamentally of improvement this defense has made from a year ago.
- 30:39SPEAKER_10: You're playing Lenora Sellers this week, who is a great running quarterback.
- 30:44SPEAKER_10: He does not get sacked very much, and you're playing for the eighth straight week.
- 30:50SPEAKER_10: Do you worry about those things going against Sellers this week based on the fact that it's eight straight weeks before this buy comes up Halloween weekend?
- 31:01SPEAKER_19: Well, I I mean, I think, yes, I think it's a natural worry.
- 31:04SPEAKER_19: I think anytime you're playing eight straight, you worry about where the tank is, uh, how much battery life, if you will, that you've got left.
- 31:11SPEAKER_19: I think Tennessee is mindful of that.
- 31:13SPEAKER_19: I think Josh Heipel's mindful of that.
- 31:15SPEAKER_19: That's why you're seeing Tennessee play a little bit of a different style of football game.
- 31:19SPEAKER_19: Hey, let's run the let's win time of possession, because we're only playing 18, 19 guys on defense.
- 31:25SPEAKER_19: So what was that defensive snap count?
- 31:27SPEAKER_19: 54 snaps or something like that this past week.
- 31:31SPEAKER_19: Really good job of minimizing the number of reps guys have to take.
- 31:35SPEAKER_19: Um for the college game, that's remarkable.
- 31:38SPEAKER_19: That's remarkable.
- 31:38SPEAKER_19: I mean, but Amari Campbell's played every snap of every football game in the last three weeks or two weeks.
- 31:44SPEAKER_19: Um It's funny, I asked Jeremiah T Lander.
- 31:46SPEAKER_19: Of course, he was, you know, fired up after the game.
- 31:48SPEAKER_19: I said, You guys holding up all right or whatever?
- 31:50SPEAKER_19: He said, We could have played eight today.
- 31:51SPEAKER_19: You want to play four more?
- 31:52SPEAKER_19: He goes, give me my helmet, we'll go.
- 31:54SPEAKER_19: He goes, they didn't want to play four more, but I'll go play four more right now.
- 31:57SPEAKER_19: My teammates will too.
- 31:58SPEAKER_19: They have a lot of confidence, Mike.
- 31:59SPEAKER_19: They have a lot of belief in where they're at right now.
- 32:02SPEAKER_19: Uh I think we're starting to see some of the Derek Owling's effect in their offseason conditioning.
- 32:06SPEAKER_19: You're hoping that continues.
- 32:08SPEAKER_19: It doesn't feel like this team is hanging on to get to the open date.
- 32:12SPEAKER_19: We'll see how it plays out Saturday, but there's nothing that you see out of this defense where you feel like, man, they're just hanging on, trying to get to the open date.
- 32:21SPEAKER_19: It certainly doesn't feel that way right now.
- 32:23SPEAKER_10: Jeremiah Talander has played since he was a freshman.
- 32:27SPEAKER_10: He's been a multi-year starter.
- 32:30SPEAKER_19: But in 2026, could you call him a surprise?
- 32:35SPEAKER_19: Sure.
- 32:36SPEAKER_19: Yeah, but because of the playmaking ability.
- 32:38SPEAKER_19: And I think it's a surprise because of the way Jim Knowles is using Jeremiah T.
- 32:44SPEAKER_19: Lander.
- 32:45SPEAKER_19: And uh, you know, David Cutliffe talked about this years ago when I was just getting started.
- 32:51SPEAKER_19: And the job of a coach is to take the guy's best skill, highlight his best skill, and mask any limitations that that player might have.
- 33:01SPEAKER_19: And I think Jim Knowles has done a fantastic job with what he has inherited.
- 33:06SPEAKER_19: Now, listen, he brought in transfers that he knew what they can do, but you look at guys that he's playing and how he and his position coach are using those guys to maximize their skill set and minimize their weakness.
- 33:18SPEAKER_19: Jeremiah T Lander is an old school downhill in-the-box linebacker.
- 33:23SPEAKER_19: I mean, he's a throwback in so many ways.
- 33:26SPEAKER_19: So, how do you use his skill set the right way?
- 33:28SPEAKER_19: Play him close to the line of scrimmage.
- 33:30SPEAKER_19: Don't ask him to play a ton of sideline to sideline coverage type stuff.
- 33:34SPEAKER_19: Play in space, get him downhill.
- 33:36SPEAKER_19: Get him downhill and get him in the box and let him go make plays.
- 33:39SPEAKER_19: And it's been tailor-made for him, and he's obviously fallen in love with it.
- 33:43SPEAKER_10: Jim Knowles' reaction after the game was a surprise to some Tennessee fans, but I thought about David Cutcliffe because Jim Knowles worked for David Cutcliffe at Duke.
- 33:53SPEAKER_19: And I mean, there's a lot of similarities between those two in a lot of ways.
- 33:58SPEAKER_19: You can understand why they really enjoyed working together because they got a little mad scientist in them, and they're very hardcore, they're very demanding attention to detail.
- 34:10SPEAKER_19: But when it comes time to celebrate, there's some celebration in there.
- 34:13SPEAKER_19: Now, I don't I don't know that David Cutliffe ever danced like Jim Knowles has danced, but that was really cool to see Jim Knowles, who, if you watch him pregame, man, the head's down.
- 34:22SPEAKER_19: You better not make any eye contact.
- 34:24SPEAKER_19: He's in his own little world.
- 34:26SPEAKER_19: For him to interact with fans on the field afterwards and kind of soak that up was a really cool thing to watch.
- 34:31SPEAKER_10: War with Brunt Hubs coming up on the Mike Keith show delivered by Uber Eats right after this.

- 36:16SPEAKER_06: Natural gas powers that progress.
- 36:18SPEAKER_06: Efficient energy, reliable systems, dependable when communities need it most.
- 36:25SPEAKER_06: Ready for today's demands and the growth happening across our state.
- 36:29SPEAKER_06: Because in Tennessee, progress isn't slowing down, it's moving forward.
- 36:35SPEAKER_14: Natural gas, fueled for the future.
- 36:39SPEAKER_14: Being at the Vols game saved my life.
- 36:42SPEAKER_14: It was a normal day going to the game with my son, but this time it felt like a sledgehammer hit my chest.
- 36:49SPEAKER_14: The UT medical team knew exactly what they needed to do and just kept me calm throughout the process.
- 36:56SPEAKER_14: It was probably the most serious heart attack that you could have.
- 36:59SPEAKER_14: The team to pair me, worked quickly, efficiently, and I did catch the end of the game.
- 37:06SPEAKER_13: These are the stories of the region's academic health system.
- 37:09SPEAKER_08: Valvoleen instant oil change technicians trained hard.
- 37:14SPEAKER_08: As a proud sponsor of the Tennessee Volunteer, we gave this welcome a chap, owning their speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- 37:24SPEAKER_08: To be a champion, you have to train like one.
- 38:12SPEAKER_15: Sometimes it's not protecting the cornerback.
- 38:15SPEAKER_15: Sometimes all of the matter, sometimes no one is protecting protective depending on what you stay.
- 38:27SPEAKER_15: Whether it's protecting the quarterback or protecting what matters at all, the responsibility is to tell you.
- 38:46SPEAKER_10: On your rewatch of the Tennessee win over Alabama, what impressed you about quarterback George McIntyre?
- 38:53SPEAKER_19: Decisiveness, control.
- 38:55SPEAKER_19: Um, I I didn't even need to see it on rewatch, just and watching it and feeling it in person on the field.
- 39:03SPEAKER_19: He never felt like the game was sped up.
- 39:06SPEAKER_19: He was never, it never felt helter skelter.
- 39:09SPEAKER_19: You know, when he's managing the clock, he's getting in and out of the huddle and doing the things he needs to do to try to bleed the clock.
- 39:15SPEAKER_19: He it felt like it was his game and he was in control uh with what they were asking him to do and what they were doing.
- 39:22SPEAKER_19: I thought his ball location in the second half was tremendous.
- 39:25SPEAKER_19: Uh the throw to TK Keyes on the slant was drew delivered the ball really, really well in a place where only Keyes could catch it.
- 39:33SPEAKER_19: He protected the young receiver so he wasn't gonna get popped.
- 39:36SPEAKER_19: He didn't have to worry about it.
- 39:37SPEAKER_19: Um just I mean, what was not to like about the way he played on Saturday?
- 39:42SPEAKER_19: Yeah, it was pretty great.
- 39:44SPEAKER_19: I mean, I mean, you know, and say it was look, he threw the ball away when he needed to throw the ball away.
- 39:49SPEAKER_19: He didn't take sacks, he got it out of his hands, he managed the run game, um, and he grew.
- 39:54SPEAKER_19: George McIntyre was better, even though the numbers may not have been any better, but George McIntyre was a better quarterback on Saturday against Alabama than he was at Arkansas.
- 40:03SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 40:03SPEAKER_19: And he wasn't bad at Arkansas, but he was better against Alabama.
- 40:07SPEAKER_19: And for a young player, that's what you want to see.
- 40:09SPEAKER_19: You want to see that natural progression.
- 40:10SPEAKER_10: It reminded me of a Casey Clausen performance.
- 40:14SPEAKER_19: Yeah, that's a great, that's a great way to say it.
- 40:16SPEAKER_10: I mean, I think about Casey Clausen, that first start against Alabama in in 2000, I guess it was.
- 40:21SPEAKER_19: Yeah, you look at his numbers and they were just kind of okay.
- 40:24SPEAKER_10: But but you know, Casey Clausen had all these performances at Florida, at Notre Dame.
- 40:29SPEAKER_10: I mean, there were these games that you're like, wow, the quarterback's just a good player.
- 40:35SPEAKER_19: Well, and and what I go back to, that that Alabama game in 2000 was Casey's first start.
- 40:41SPEAKER_19: And he he drew cr praise for running around without his helmet, okay?
- 40:46SPEAKER_19: But but you go back and you look at that game and you left that game going, that guy's that that moment's not too big for that guy.
- 40:53SPEAKER_19: It wasn't.
- 40:54SPEAKER_19: And there was nothing about George's performance on Saturday where you felt like it was too big for him.
- 40:59SPEAKER_19: It was overwhelming.
- 41:01SPEAKER_19: It was too much.
- 41:01SPEAKER_19: It was a tremendous crowd, a tremendous atmosphere.
- 41:04SPEAKER_19: A guy who's dreamed of that moment.
- 41:06SPEAKER_19: He's got it.
- 41:07SPEAKER_19: Oh man, don't mess this up, right?
- 41:09SPEAKER_19: And and everybody's asking about quarterback and everything else.
- 41:11SPEAKER_19: He just went out and played.
- 41:13SPEAKER_19: The opening drive, he played really, really well.
- 41:16SPEAKER_19: Missed a couple things he'd like to have back, but he was just tremendous the first 60 minutes.
- 41:20SPEAKER_19: The drive.
- 41:22SPEAKER_10: 15 plays, 72 yards, 932 off the clock to put the game away.
- 41:29SPEAKER_10: Can you remember another Tennessee drive that strikes you the same way?
- 41:34SPEAKER_19: Um Tennessee had a drive in 2001 in Tuscaloosa where they started the fourth quarter and they kept the ball for about seven minutes to go take the lead down there.
- 41:44SPEAKER_19: And they go to break, and Tim Priest, for anybody who doesn't know Tim Priest, nobody understood Tennessee, Alabama better than Tim Priest.
- 41:51SPEAKER_19: Absolutely.
- 41:52SPEAKER_19: I mean, loved it.
- 41:53SPEAKER_19: He turns to me and he taps me on the leg at a break and he said, That kid, he goes, You don't do that against Alabama.
- 42:00SPEAKER_19: He goes, mark that one down.
- 42:01SPEAKER_19: He goes, that's one you don't see very often.
- 42:03SPEAKER_19: Talking about Casey Claus.
- 42:04SPEAKER_19: Talking about Casey Claus, the drive, seven minutes, eating the clock in the fourth quarter.
- 42:09SPEAKER_19: Tennessee finished with over um uh right at 11 minutes of time of possession in the fourth quarter.
- 42:14SPEAKER_19: That fourth quarter in 01 in Tuscaloosa and the fourth quarter Saturday in Knoxville reminded me of the same.
- 42:21SPEAKER_19: There was a long drive in there, and there was just a we own it.
- 42:25SPEAKER_19: And to do that in an SEC game against any SEC team is special.
- 42:30SPEAKER_19: To do it against your rival on the third Saturday in October doesn't happen very often.
- 42:34SPEAKER_19: That was a that was a a butt kicking, a butt kicking and a dominating performance.
- 42:39SPEAKER_10: All right, so I'm gonna give you one right on a T.
- 42:42SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 42:43SPEAKER_10: More significant moment in that fourth quarter for their growth.
- 42:48SPEAKER_10: George McIntyre, TK Keys, or the offensive line.
- 42:53SPEAKER_19: I think it's the offensive line.
- 42:55SPEAKER_19: And the reason is you can't play, you can't have the quarterback play you want to have without the offensive line play in front of him.
- 43:03SPEAKER_19: You can't running backs can make okay offensive line play look much better.
- 43:08SPEAKER_19: I get that.
- 43:08SPEAKER_19: And Deshaun Bishop's on a heater right now.
- 43:10SPEAKER_19: But for that offensive line, and to see their reaction when they came off, because they knew it.
- 43:15SPEAKER_19: They knew it.
- 43:16SPEAKER_19: They knew what they had just done on that drive.
- 43:18SPEAKER_19: Because the challenge is, look, everybody on the sideline knew it.
- 43:21SPEAKER_19: If you got one more, it was over.
- 43:24SPEAKER_19: You just needed one more score.
- 43:26SPEAKER_19: If you can put one more in the end zone, it was done.
- 43:28SPEAKER_19: I don't think anybody anticipated doing it in that necessarily fashion with that long of a drive.
- 43:33SPEAKER_19: But when it's just chunking that way, you could just see how much more and more they wanted it.
- 43:39SPEAKER_19: I think they found their five from a physicality standpoint.
- 43:42SPEAKER_19: Um, and I think they're starting to jail.
- 43:44SPEAKER_19: I I think it was a huge moment for that entire offensive line, but certainly guard center guard.
- 43:50SPEAKER_10: All right, we're ready for the Brent Hubs hot take presented by Firehouse Subs.
- 43:55SPEAKER_10: They've got the new Thanksgiving sub right now.
- 43:58SPEAKER_10: It's got your Turkey, your dressing, your cranberry sauce, your gravy.
- 44:03SPEAKER_10: I'm going to get Brent Hubbs one of these to have a bite of on the air.
- 44:07SPEAKER_10: That's going to happen.
- 44:09SPEAKER_10: It's going to happen.
- 44:10SPEAKER_10: Firehouse subs.
- 44:10SPEAKER_10: Well, it's your hot take.
- 44:11SPEAKER_10: You're doing all the work.
- 44:13SPEAKER_10: So I should bring you the food.
- 44:14SPEAKER_10: Absolutely.
- 44:15SPEAKER_10: And you like a Thanksgiving meal.
- 44:16SPEAKER_19: I love a Thanksgiving meal and I love anything from Firehouse Subs.
- 44:20SPEAKER_19: That'll be fantastic for sure.
- 44:22SPEAKER_19: My hot take this week is I think Tennessee wins the fourth quarter again.
- 44:30SPEAKER_19: I think I think this is I think we're seeing the emergence of Tennessee and Derek Owens and Tennessee's ability to play 64 minutes of football.
- 44:40SPEAKER_19: I think that Tennessee is wearing people down.
- 44:43SPEAKER_19: I think they're managing the first half of the game well to get to that point in the second half.
- 44:47SPEAKER_19: We saw them do it against Arkansas.
- 44:49SPEAKER_19: They did it with big plays, but they won the fourth quarter and handled business there.
- 44:53SPEAKER_19: Obviously, they were terrific in the fourth quarter against Alabama.
- 44:56SPEAKER_19: I think this is a good closing football team.
- 44:58SPEAKER_19: All right.
- 44:58SPEAKER_19: Bonus Brent.
- 44:59SPEAKER_19: Bonus Brent.
- 45:00SPEAKER_19: Do you like the 2014 playoff that's been mentioned?
- 45:03SPEAKER_19: Yeah, I have no problem with 2014 playoff.
- 45:05SPEAKER_19: I would prefer 16, but I have no problem with 24.
- 45:08SPEAKER_19: Don't tell me that it's going to neutralize the regular season.
- 45:12SPEAKER_19: You think it's going to take away from what we watched on Saturday if there's 24 teams in a playoff?
- 45:16SPEAKER_19: I don't think so.
- 45:17SPEAKER_10: The only part of the argument that the anti-2014 people are missing there has never been a time in sport in this country's history of sport for over a hundred years that expanding the playoffs has hurt the popularity and the success of the sport.
- 45:36SPEAKER_19: Well, playoffs are good because it's winner-go home.
- 45:39SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 45:39SPEAKER_19: And there's a there's theater to that.
- 45:42SPEAKER_19: Are there 24 teams in college football that can win the national championship?
- 45:46SPEAKER_19: Probably not.
- 45:47SPEAKER_19: But would you rather have football in December with games on campuses where you're playing that game as opposed to playing a bowl game that's become in large ways a scrimmage game with everybody opting out and and the lack of interest there?
- 46:04SPEAKER_19: I don't think in any way it hurts the regular season or it hurts the game of football.
- 46:10SPEAKER_10: Run hubs, thanks very much.
- 46:11SPEAKER_10: Thank you, sir.
- 46:11SPEAKER_10: FallQuest.com, the Vall Radio Network.
- 46:13SPEAKER_10: We come back.
- 46:14SPEAKER_10: Jason Swain is normally on this show on Thursdays, but Tennessee beat Alabama.
- 46:21SPEAKER_10: So Jason Swain's going to be here tonight, and we've got a surprise for him next on the Mike Keith show delivered by Uber.
- 46:27SPEAKER_09: Mike Keith, Mike Key, back with more Big Orange Insider Access.
- 46:32SPEAKER_09: We are the Ball Network.
- 46:39SPEAKER_10: Jason Swain from the Twain event from 99.1, the Sports Animal, and of course from the Ball Radio Network is here.
- 46:46SPEAKER_10: How could we do a Victory Monday show without Jason Twain after a win over Alabama?
- 46:55SPEAKER_10: 48 hours later, it's time for Victory Monday Donuts.
- 47:00SPEAKER_10: And Will Brooks is here to bring him to you.
- 47:04unknown: Yeah.
- 47:05SPEAKER_10: You know a thing or two about being Alabama.
- 47:07SPEAKER_20: I do, yeah.
- 47:07SPEAKER_20: It was good to see that again.
- 47:08SPEAKER_10: We wanted to have something special for you.
- 47:11SPEAKER_10: You know how to surprise me.
- 47:12SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean, Will Brooks, lean in here a little bit, Will Brooks, and join us.
- 47:16SPEAKER_10: This is Will Brooks.
- 47:17SPEAKER_10: Look at that camera.
- 47:19SPEAKER_10: 2024, the interception at the end of the game, but even more significantly, Will Brooks is from Birmingham, Alabama.
- 47:28SPEAKER_10: That's right.
- 47:29SPEAKER_10: Jason Swain from Huntsville, Alabama.
- 47:31SPEAKER_10: That's right.
- 47:31SPEAKER_10: Does it mean more?
- 47:33SPEAKER_10: I mean, does it could it mean more to these two guys than anybody else?
- 47:39SPEAKER_11: No, no.
- 47:41SPEAKER_11: It means everything.
- 47:42SPEAKER_11: You know, you grew up and all you see is Crimson, and you know, you see the Auburn colors as well.
- 47:48SPEAKER_11: But Birmingham, there's a lot of Tuscaloosa uh, you know, fans across the across the way.
- 47:53SPEAKER_11: And then, you know, Huntsville, I mean, there's there's lots of uh Alabama fans too.
- 47:57SPEAKER_11: So uh it's nothing better than beating those guys.
- 48:00SPEAKER_11: The way we beat those guys.
- 48:01SPEAKER_11: Yeah, it's one thing to beat them.
- 48:02SPEAKER_11: And you were part of that where it was close, but Saturday it was it was a complete dominant performance.
- 48:06SPEAKER_20: Yeah, it was it was a beat down.
- 48:08SPEAKER_20: I was super happy to see that.
- 48:09SPEAKER_20: Uh it was a lot of fun to watch.
- 48:11SPEAKER_10: And the picture of you and Chase McGrath on the field before the game, I mean that one has gone every I think there's some Tennessee fans that are gonna frame that and put that in their man caves.
- 48:24SPEAKER_20: I love it.
- 48:24SPEAKER_20: Uh-huh.
- 48:25SPEAKER_20: That's awesome.
- 48:25SPEAKER_20: Yeah, it was you know, it was fun to see Chase again.
- 48:27SPEAKER_20: I hadn't seen him in a while.
- 48:28SPEAKER_20: So I was super excited to get him down there and seeing everybody.
- 48:32SPEAKER_10: So what is Will Brooks doing right now?
- 48:34SPEAKER_10: Tell everybody.
- 48:35SPEAKER_20: Yeah, so I'm actually working for uh First Horizon now.
- 48:38SPEAKER_20: And you know, as a official bank of the Valls.
- 48:40SPEAKER_20: Official bank of the Valls, yep.
- 48:41SPEAKER_20: And you know, with the the Jersey patch deal and everything as part of our renewed partnership.
- 48:46SPEAKER_20: I'm gonna be kind of like the the banker for you know all the athletes in the athletic department.
- 48:51SPEAKER_20: So, you know, helping guys with, you know, budgeting, financial planning, all sorts of stuff like that.
- 48:56SPEAKER_20: So kind of helping them set a plan for their future.
- 48:59SPEAKER_20: So I'm I'm super excited to to start diving into that.
- 49:02SPEAKER_10: So how does Monday go for you after a win like that?
- 49:05SPEAKER_20: Oh, it's uh you know, it's a good celebration in the office.
- 49:08SPEAKER_20: Everyone's in uh in a good mood, so that's always nice.
- 49:11SPEAKER_20: Uh so you know, everyone wants to talk about the game and you know, just kind of talking with everybody and giving my thoughts and everyone, you know, has their own opinions as well.
- 49:19SPEAKER_20: But it's always a lot of fun.
- 49:20SPEAKER_10: Here's the thing about the Will Brooks catch.
- 49:22SPEAKER_10: You have your own play, by the way.
- 49:24SPEAKER_10: You have your you have your own moment involved history.
- 49:27SPEAKER_10: The Will Brooks interception, the Will Brooks catch, however you want to call it.
- 49:30SPEAKER_10: I was looking back at that.
- 49:32SPEAKER_10: Man, that was not an easy catch.
- 49:34SPEAKER_10: That was not an easy pick.
- 49:36SPEAKER_11: No.
- 49:37SPEAKER_11: I'm one of the best lacrosse players in the state of Alabama history, right here.
- 49:40SPEAKER_11: Is he really?
- 49:41SPEAKER_20: Yeah, in high school, I was a big lacrosse player, yeah.
- 49:44SPEAKER_10: So did you think about going somewhere for lacrosse?
- 49:46SPEAKER_20: I did.
- 49:47SPEAKER_20: The the thing is they don't really recruit the South very much, and I didn't really have a lot of offers or anything.
- 49:52SPEAKER_20: And football was my first love, so I had to stick with it and obviously, you know, made the right call, I think.
- 49:58SPEAKER_11: So uh you know that's what athletes do.
- 50:01SPEAKER_10: They make plays.
- 50:02SPEAKER_10: Players play.
- 50:03SPEAKER_10: That's right.
- 50:03SPEAKER_10: That's what players play.
- 50:04SPEAKER_10: Yeah, man.
- 50:05SPEAKER_10: This is so special.
- 50:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah, see, I wanted to do this because uh I I I love I mean surprise you and and Vol fan to see you two together, Vol fans are just the hearts are just melting.
- 50:16SPEAKER_10: It feels good, man.
- 50:17SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 50:17SPEAKER_11: Have you texted every 256 and 251 and 205 number on your phone?
- 50:22SPEAKER_20: Uh good morning.
- 50:23SPEAKER_20: I I should have, honestly.
- 50:24SPEAKER_20: I've texted a couple people.
- 50:26SPEAKER_20: I think I may need to uh make make a list and start going through it.
- 50:29SPEAKER_20: Uh you know, I reposted the stuff on my Instagram and you know, some people didn't like it, I don't think.
- 50:34SPEAKER_20: But you know, that's okay, because who cares, you know?
- 50:38SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean, uh from somebody older, just let me tell you, there have been many years we have had to take it.
- 50:45SPEAKER_10: And you know, driving driving back uh on 59 with the bed sheets hanging over, and you know, it's it's part of it.
- 50:53SPEAKER_10: It's part of it.
- 50:54SPEAKER_10: And and so the whole thing is uh we all have our moments, every dog has his day, and you understand it, but you sure do have to enjoy the Monday afternoon.
- 51:02SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 51:03SPEAKER_10: Oh, for sure.
- 51:03SPEAKER_10: Now, turning the page.
- 51:05SPEAKER_10: Players started doing it this afternoon, but for all of us, we have to start doing it tomorrow.
- 51:09SPEAKER_10: How hard?
- 51:11SPEAKER_11: This league is brutal this year.
- 51:12SPEAKER_11: I mean, it's tough.
- 51:13SPEAKER_11: I mean, uh, and South Carolina is one of the most talented teams in this league, and they have a few players that's gonna make it really tough for Tennessee.
- 51:20SPEAKER_11: And then you're playing on the road, so that's a tough place to play, one of the most underrated places in the country.
- 51:25SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 51:25SPEAKER_11: It's gonna be tough.
- 51:26SPEAKER_10: And for you, Will, how much tougher you think this conference is just two years after you left?
- 51:33SPEAKER_20: Yeah, I mean, it's it's impressive, kind of the depth that the SEC has these days.
- 51:37SPEAKER_20: I mean, you I mean, you saw it this weekend.
- 51:39SPEAKER_20: Any team could win any single game, and you just have to be super prepared and treat every game the same, or you know, you could get caught locking like a lot of teams did this weekend.
- 51:48SPEAKER_10: So we asked you to do this extra segment, but we didn't really ask you to work too hard.
- 51:51SPEAKER_10: You can have a victory Monday Dunkin' Donut, though.
- 51:54SPEAKER_10: Oh, not with your face on it, just good old donuts.
- 51:58SPEAKER_11: I'm so used to those now.
- 51:59SPEAKER_10: Just good old donuts.
- 52:00SPEAKER_10: All right, let's end this thing.
- 52:02SPEAKER_10: That's Will Brooks.
- 52:03SPEAKER_10: This is Jason Twain.
- 52:04SPEAKER_10: I'm Mike Keith.
- 52:05SPEAKER_10: Thanks for joining us with Mike Keith Show and from your entire ball network staff.
- 52:10SPEAKER_10: We always appreciate you and we'll see you next time.
- 52:16SPEAKER_09: All the way welcome to the link from the NFT campus.
- 52:20SPEAKER_09: Mike Keatshow.
