Transcript
- 0:43Hey everyone.
- 0:43Welcome back to another week of Beasley ballers.
- 0:46This is week three.
- 0:47And so just to give you a little recap of week two, the first game we talked about Texas versus Alabama.
- 0:54I said at the end of that episode, I'd be okay.
- 0:56Taking a loss on that one.
- 0:57And I certainly am.
- 0:58Okay.
- 0:58Because Texas beat out Alabama.
- 1:00Heck yes.
- 1:01So I'm totally okay with that loss because Laura and I said the elephant, I think yeah.
- 1:05Donnie said that one too.
- 1:06But the second game, the NFL game, which was a Cincinnati versus the Browns.
- 1:12The Browns ended up winning, unfortunately.
- 1:16But again, I just don't care about either of those teams.
- 1:19I can try to pretend like a do, but I really don't.
- 1:23Anyway, here is week three of Beasley ballers.
- 1:26Thank you guys for listening and make sure you keep tuning into these Laura.
- 1:29And I might be done with the season four right now.
- 1:31We're going to be back in about a month.
- 1:33So until then, we're going to go ahead and use beasley ballers as a fill-in until the next season starts to thank you guys so much for listening and here's week three
- 1:41Katy: all right, so week three So then Donnie, who do we have for?
- 1:45Katy: College games for this week because we're gonna do college and NFL as
- 1:50Donnie: So the college one that I thought would be fun to highlight, you know, I'm a big Dion Sanders fan, and I think a lot of eyes are on him and the Colorado Buffaloes right now, and they're playing their rival, the Colorado state, I think they're the Rams, is that
- 2:08Katy: Colorado State.
- 2:09Katy: Yeah.
- 2:09Katy: Yeah, they're Rams.
- 2:10Laura: Yeah.
- 2:11Laura: I actually know that one.
- 2:12Katy: How how I love all of them.
- 2:14Katy: That is the one, you
- 2:15Laura: Because I worked with, I worked with a guy who went to Colorado State, and he had all of his old everything with him.
- 2:22Donnie: Oh, and so, you know, I live in the, DFW area and I think we're all Dion supporters and.
- 2:31Donnie: He played for the Cowboys.
- 2:33Donnie: He played for the 49ers.
- 2:34Donnie: He played for the Falcons, played for Florida state.
- 2:37Donnie: He's like the greatest cornerback of all time.
- 2:39Laura: Is he a coach now?
- 2:41Katy: a coach now.
- 2:41Katy: This is his first, year of coaching,, Colorado,
- 2:44Laura: you think they're gonna win because the coach is the best?
- 2:46Donnie: Well, so, you know, in week one, TCU is ranked.
- 2:51Donnie: If you were watching the national championship last year, TCU is in it.
- 2:55Donnie: Everybody saw they're playing Colorado first game.
- 2:59Donnie: Deion got the head coaching job.
- 3:00Donnie: I think that was the highlighted game and the whole country watched his son just ball out of control.
- 3:07Donnie: So they, they beat TCU and, he comes off the field and, talk the talk, walk the walk.
- 3:16Donnie: And he just.
- 3:18Donnie: You know, he's, Katie, what, what, what am I looking for?
- 3:22Donnie: He's pretty cocky and arrogant.
- 3:25Donnie: There you go.
- 3:25Donnie: He's kind of backing it up though.
- 3:28Donnie: It's, it's, It's, hilarious.
- 3:31Katy: we'll, we'll see how he does.
- 3:32Katy: So, a Ram
- 3:33Laura: that's a and this isn't, this, we already have a, Ram.
- 3:36Laura: we already had a Ram mascot.
- 3:37Laura: That was North Carolina?
- 3:40Katy: look at you.
- 3:41Laura: I remembered! So this is, there's, there's two college with Rams.
- 3:46Laura: Is there a difference in the species of ram?
- 3:48Katy: I'm looking that up right now.
- 3:50Laura: Thank you.
- 3:51Laura: Because I'm pretty sure Colorado's is a bighorn sheep.
- 3:54Katy: I think, I think, it is, I'm pretty sure.
- 3:56Laura: But I have no idea what North Carolina's is.
- 3:58Laura: I didn't actually look at the picture.
- 4:00Laura: I don't think it matters.
- 4:02Laura: I There's no way a ram is beating a bison.
- 4:05Laura: But.
- 4:05Katy: Yeah, it doesn't really say, except for it just went Aggie Rams.
- 4:09Katy: to Rams.
- 4:11Laura: Because it's, it's, it's, the other one is a bison, or is it a different type of buffalo?
- 4:17Katy: No, it's a bison.
- 4:18Donnie: they run with one of those on the field.
- 4:19Laura: Okay, okay,
- 4:20Katy: oh, Orambulet.
- 4:24Laura: For who?
- 4:24Laura: North Carolina?
- 4:25Katy: Uh, no, for Colorado State.
- 4:28Katy: Yeah, it's a sheep.
- 4:29Katy: This definitely changes things.
- 4:32Laura: well that's what bighorn sheep are.
- 4:33Katy: No, no, no, no, not, no, it's like a sheep sheep, not like a,
- 4:37Donnie: Why don't they call themselves the sheep?
- 4:39Laura: Well.
- 4:40Katy: Not like a bighorn sheep that you see out in the wild, like, no, like a sheep, like a fluffy wool sheep, hold on, yes,
- 4:51Donnie: their helmet, they have horns.
- 4:52Donnie: So I'm assuming it's a ram.
- 4:53Katy: they all, yeah, no, no, no, they all,
- 4:55Laura: Oh yeah, you're right.
- 4:56Laura: It's just Cam the ram.
- 4:57Katy: Yeah, dude, it's a sheep though.
- 5:03Laura: I mean, not that it would make much difference I feel like a sheep ram and a goat ram are probably pretty similar.
- 5:09Laura: But he looks silly.
- 5:11Laura: Look at him, he's so
- 5:12Katy: No.
- 5:12Katy: Yeah, you know, he's yeah, he's a sheep.
- 5:14Katy: He's a fluffy wool sheep So not like a bighorn Bighorn sheep like stocky.
- 5:20Katy: No, this is like a sheep with wool that you would go up and pet
- 5:23Laura: well,
- 5:24Donnie: What a weak mascot.
- 5:25Donnie: that thing can't beat a Buffalo
- 5:27Laura: no, there's no way.
- 5:28Laura: This is like, this
- 5:30Donnie: or a Bison.
- 5:32Laura: their horns, his horns definitely are, respectable, and it would absolutely freaking hurt to be hit by one, but like,
- 5:39Katy: Oh, yeah, but I mean it would hurt a person not a not a bison
- 5:44Laura: another sheep, right?
- 5:45Laura: Like, bison are made, both of them are, both of them are animals that do the same thing, so then it just comes down to size.
- 5:53Katy: Wasn't that one of your pics of could you ride that Laura was a bison?
- 5:56Laura: a bison.
- 5:58Laura: Yeah.
- 5:58Katy: I thought so thought
- 5:59Laura: It's a big freaking animal.
- 6:00Laura: That's like at least twice as big as that sheep, if not three times as big.
- 6:04Katy: Yeah, oh my gosh, and just the sheer power and strength of it.
- 6:08Katy: No chance.
- 6:09Laura: Aggie.
- 6:10Laura: Dead.
- 6:10Laura: Dead.
- 6:12Laura: Very quickly.
- 6:13Donnie: Hey, Katie, look something up for me.
- 6:15Donnie: I saw Colorado at the Independence Bowl one year and Buffalo that ran out, his name's Ralph, and it was funny.
- 6:21Donnie: Cause it's just like a Buffalo running out on the field.
- 6:24Katy: A bison?
- 6:25Donnie: They'll keep correcting me, but I thought they were the Buffalos,
- 6:27Laura: you're right.
- 6:28Laura: They are
- 6:28Katy: that's what They call it, but that's what they call it, but that's not a
- 6:32Laura: It's such a weird technicality, so, when people first came here to America, they were like, Oh, look, buffalo, because they look like the European buffalo, but they're not the same thing.
- 6:44Laura: They're actually what's called a bison, but we just call them American buffalo, but American buffalo are bison.
- 6:50Laura: It's confusing, but,
- 6:52Donnie: seriously.
- 6:53Donnie: So they tricked me my whole life.
- 6:55Laura: well, it's like, you know how people sometimes call, vultures buzzards?
- 6:59Laura: Buzzards are actually a totally different bird.
- 7:01Katy: Yeah.
- 7:01Katy: Not even close.
- 7:03Laura: Buzzards are Buzzards but people came here to America and were like, those look like what we saw back in Europe.
- 7:08Laura: They must be buzzards.
- 7:09Katy: Yeah, they must be the same thing.
- 7:10Katy: Yeah, not the same thing.
- 7:12Donnie: Or I grew up, we just call them chicken hawks.
- 7:15Laura: So wait, it's Colorado State, and what's the other one?
- 7:17Katy: Colorado?
- 7:19Katy: University?
- 7:20Laura: Oh, University.
- 7:20Katy: just Colorado.
- 7:22Donnie: It's Colorado.
- 7:24Laura: Okay, Colorado University mascot.
- 7:26Katy: Yeah, so it's, it's a, it's a bison.
- 7:31Donnie: I'm waiting for one of these weeks where it's a bird versus bird matchup.
- 7:36Laura: Can you please look up Their mascot, do you see how many full grown men it takes To bring in a juvenile'cause that's a juvenile bison,
- 7:45Katy: Right?
- 7:46Laura: four, grown men, one juvenile bison.
- 7:49Laura: Meanwhile, Aggie is been being led in on a lead rope by one person,
- 7:54Katy: Yeah.
- 7:55Katy: That right there shipped out you.
- 7:57Katy: Oh.
- 7:58Katy: Yeah, okay.
- 7:59Katy: So that that's a given that's colorado there just given donny Are you going with colorado on that one as well,
- 8:06Donnie: Yes, and Dion is riding in on a bison.
- 8:09Katy: That is one thing I wouldn't put past him is that he would be like I can do that And totally ride that bison in one of these days.
- 8:16Katy: I would not even put that past him
- 8:18Laura: as one should.
- 8:20Katy: That, that I wouldn't even be surprised.
- 8:22Katy: I would not even be surprised.
- 8:25Katy: Alrighty, so then what was the NFL one that you pick for this week, Donnie?
- 8:31Donnie: so once again, another week where there's, we have limited animal, animal matchups.
- 8:37Donnie: So, I chose a good one.
- 8:39Donnie: It's the Colts and the Texans.
- 8:42Donnie: Houston Texans are, I believe their mascot's a bull on their helmet,
- 8:47Laura: okay, I'm looking it up.
- 8:48Donnie: And I would imagine the Colt's the uh, Adult male horse,
- 8:51Laura: A technically a cult is a juvenile horse.
- 8:54Laura: But I'm sure it's supposed to be a grown
- 8:57Katy: Yeah, I'm, Yeah.
- 8:58Katy: I'm, Just, oh look, here comes all those babies! That's what it
- 9:02Laura: That's literally what a cult is.
- 9:03Laura: It's a young male a baby
- 9:05Katy: Okay, so then Toro.
- 9:08Laura: I'm just trying to figure out what Toro is.
- 9:09Laura: Just, just a black bull.
- 9:12Donnie: Is that somebody's mascot?
- 9:14Katy: Yeah, Houston.
- 9:15Laura: is the, is the, is the
- 9:16Katy: The Texans.
- 9:17Donnie: Oh, I think it's just a bull.
- 9:19Donnie: right?
- 9:19Laura: Yeah, like I just was trying to figure out if we could figure out what kind.
- 9:23Katy: a Spanish fighting bull
- 9:25Laura: Okay.
- 9:26Katy: isn't a, a cow or a Longhorn.
- 9:28Katy: It's a Spanish fighting bull.
- 9:29Donnie: All right.
- 9:30Donnie: So like the bull run and Italy, that style bull,
- 9:35Laura: in Spain.
- 9:36Donnie: did I say?
- 9:36Donnie: Italy,
- 9:37Laura: Yeah.
- 9:39Katy: Italians.
- 9:40Laura: And then who's the other one?
- 9:42Laura: It's the Colts, right?
- 9:42Laura: Okay, so a horse versus a bull.
- 9:44Laura: It looks exactly like have you guys ever seen have you seen Ferdinand?
- 9:48Katy: Oh, of course,
- 9:50Laura: Okay, it's Ferdinand.
- 9:52Laura: With the slightly forward facing horns.
- 9:55Katy: except I'm, I'm sure not as sweet as Fernan
- 10:00Laura: Probably not.
- 10:01Donnie: me know, me knowing the little that I know, I think the bull has one shot at it against the horse because I think, just me, I think the horse would kick the crap out of it.
- 10:13Laura: Man, that, this one's kind of hard.
- 10:16Laura: I mean, the bull has the horns, which is a definite plus.
- 10:21Donnie: sure there's a YouTube video of this in real life.
- 10:23Donnie: it probably happens all the time.
- 10:25Laura: Well, and it it drives me crazy that the teams aren't actually what their mascot is.
- 10:29Laura: So, if it was actually a colt, if it was actually a
- 10:33Katy: chance.
- 10:34Katy: Yeah, if it was a baby horse.
- 10:37Katy: Snap his little baby legs.
- 10:40Katy: He's done for.
- 10:44Laura: The bull has the weight.
- 10:45Laura: The bull has the horns.
- 10:47Laura: But horses fight dirty.
- 10:49Laura: Cause they've got the long necks and they bite,
- 10:52Katy: Yes, Yeah.
- 10:53Katy: a horse bite sucks.
- 10:54Katy: Like, people always talk about horses kicking, but if you've never been bit by a horse, that sucks.
- 11:00Laura: Yeah, people have lost, Like, I'll never forget, because a couple of my aunts have horses, they would always cringe when they would see people feeding their horses, like, a carrot from their mouth, because there have been people that have lost their noses, like, like, they'll just bite it
- 11:14Katy: yeah,
- 11:15Donnie: But, if you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
- 11:18Donnie: So I'm watching like you ain't lying like this thing looks like it fights dirty like there, you know, there's dirt everywhere So the bulls up there comes out and he's a little quick and then he starts kicking dirt in its face And then it I'm like jeez
- 11:32Laura: yeah, I just The hor and the horse has got the jump.
- 11:36Laura: To try and dodge.
- 11:37Laura: It can get on its two legs to rotate.
- 11:40Laura: I'm going horse.
- 11:41Laura: I'm going Colts.
- 11:43Katy: For me, I really think that this one is gonna come down to who gets the hit first.
- 11:48Katy: Like, it's gonna be like one of those who, who gets the first hit kind of things.
- 11:51Laura: Cause yeah, I think, I think the hooves would do some serious damage.
- 11:55Donnie: Both of these teams are really bad And I'm gonna go with Houston just because of where the games being played.
- 12:03Donnie: It's in, Texas
- 12:04Laura: So.
- 12:05Katy: And then as far as animals go, Laura, what are you saying?
- 12:08Laura: I think the cults, but I'm, I'm willing to be swayed
- 12:11Katy: Yeah, if the bull can get the first hit in, I think it can do more.
- 12:18Katy: Damage quicker as far as because yeah the horse is gonna can like kick it and it sucks and it's gonna hurt but I also think a bull is like beefier and can take a little bit more than a than a horse could.
- 12:33Laura: Yeah.
- 12:33Laura: I think that's probably true.
- 12:35Katy: So I'm gonna go with it with the with the bull on this one.
- 12:39Laura: I think I'm gonna say the cults.
- 12:42Laura: So we got Houston and one.
- 12:44Katy: yeah we'll see then.
- 12:45Laura: see.
- 12:46Katy: All right guys well that is week three we're done with the regular season, so then these will keep going until Laura and I go ahead and start getting ready for season nine, make sure you guys reach out to us on Twitter, and then check us out on Patreon to support us as well.
- 13:02Katy: Laura, you're a theme music.
- 13:07Katy: Thank you, Laura.
