- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe a shower, maybe a thunderstorm a little bit later.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Don't don't be thinking this is gonna be a major washout or anything like that.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: There's no like super insane, crazy heavy storms coming.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, you might get a thunderstorm, but it's not bad.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: Although I am glad I mowed my grass yesterday.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, get that done.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: I don't think I'm gonna have to mow my grass for the rest of the year.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: No.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, we did a little damage when we were running all the heavy equipment over the lawn.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Well, you gotta realize all I can grow is moss anyway, because I live in the redwood forest.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Mudd.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I have like areas that have grass patches, and then the other rest of it it's green only because of the moss.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: It's because of all the trees, right?
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Basically, it looks like facial hair of a teenager.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: So I don't necessarily know if I'm gonna even get around to doing it.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I might be able to weed whack my way through there.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: You're so lucky because I have parts where it was the lawnmower was getting kind of stuck.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: I've just been gone pretty much uh the past three weeks all the time.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: So I haven't had a chance to do it, and it was getting real clogged up.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Very lawnmower's like, uh, so that's going on.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Stupid electric one that's like a bubbler.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: That's not what you used yesterday, was it?
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: I used it on the front.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, all right.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Uh back a minute ago, you were telling us the story of uh how you knew a family.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: There was Trish and Gary.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Back in the 80s, early 90s, and all that.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Well, it's my friend Heather's parents.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and and you said Trish kind of towered over Gary, right?
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: She was uh you know, she was just bigger than Gary.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: Gary's a little man.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, a little a wee man.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: But a good fella.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: He is, loves his uh loves his sweatpants and likes to tie uh uh tuck his shirt into his sweatpants.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, I efficiency, I don't know.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, caught on a corner or a doorknob.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: And it's not, and it's always like a tight t-shirt, too, by the way.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, there's a certain look.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Why don't you keep the height thing in mind here and listen to this uh this uh setup here?
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: He sent me a Venmo request after the date and me being the curious girl I am.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, because you weren't as skinny as I thought you were gonna be.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: You were a little bit bigger in person.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Like, I can't just send a guy a Venmo request because I'm upset that we went on a date and he wasted my time because he was actually 5'7 instead of 5'11.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Uh-uh.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Um, but basically he was treating it like a return, like, oh, I took it out of the package and it wasn't exactly what I wanted, so I'm gonna go return it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Like, this is Target or something.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: So I told him very politely, absolutely not.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Thank you for dinner, you have a great day.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: And then I just proceeded to block him because I didn't even want to hear anymore.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: I blocked his little Venmo request.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Just that's what dating is.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: You meet them in person, sometimes you love them, sometimes you don't, but you can't Venmo request them and ask for a return.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Now that's the first time I've ever heard that one unfold.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: And she's right, you get what you get.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Now, hopefully she wasn't lying.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: You you kind of get what you get because even on just profile pictures of people, Facebook or or wherever, people can creatively make themselves look different.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: There's no getting around that.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: Definitely, but if you that's where I I really hope that she wasn't completely lying about what she looked like.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Okay, with certain angles and things like that.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: Like, let's just all be adults, tell, be truthful about what we look like, and go forward.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: So he was looking for a piece of the dinner bill back.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: I believe so, yes.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Because of uh because he feels that you know he was misled or mis the advertisement, it was false advertising.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: You know, I actually don't I'm actually not mad at him about this.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Now that I get it- Oh, really?
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Yes, because this is one thing I hate about dating websites and just any of those apps, is you have to be truthful because if you did a bait and switch on me, which happens all the time.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: Remember, I was telling you the year this is years ago.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: The guy who had no teeth.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: Oh God, yeah, I know this can make me sound superficial, but I don't even care.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: So the guy was a pretty good looking guy.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: We talked for a little bit, but he was really far away from here.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: And he said, Well, let's meet an Ithaca.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: He was up in like Liverpool or something.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Okay, and I questioned that because it's such a far distance.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Are you sure you want to date somebody who's so far away?
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Because my right, my radius at the time was only like within 40 minutes.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna go up to Liverpool and date you.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Not on the regular, no, and then and so you know, like I said in the pictures, decent-looking guy, conversation was all right, you know, whatever.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: And then all of a sudden he reveals.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Luckily, before we went on this date, he reveals he doesn't have any teeth.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: And I was like, I'm sorry.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: I just uh teeth is teeth is a thing for me.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: He did, he, and that's not superficial.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Everybody has a certain something they want.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: I know that it's nice and easy to say, well, you know, their personality makes up for you, you still gotta look at the person.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: So it comes down to the fact, I mean, we all have things that we can, we all have things we're attracted to and not attracted to, and we have things that we can accept, and we're just like, no, that's not for me.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: I will give him credit that he told you that before you got together.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I thought that was wise.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: But that's what I'm saying.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: If I would have showed up in Ithaca and he had no teeth, I would have been furious.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: All right, now let me ask this then.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Based on you saying you're not terribly mad at that.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: I would have been like, um, can you even eat your meal without those teeth?
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Where did you want to go to dinner?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: The old folks' home?
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Uh I mean applesauce and taters, mashed potatoes?
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: Ice cream shop, we'll just get milkshakes.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Um no, the the thing about it is though, is where I'm struggling with this is uh, okay, so maybe he felt it was false advertising on what she looked like.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: But what happens if you do go out and the chemistry just doesn't connect, which is also a possibility.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Let's say, you know, as far as physical looks and everything go, all right, they they hit the check marks.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: You're like, you know, I could I could get into this, but you guys just cannot have the conversations or the connection, the spark doesn't hit or whatever, then you that same logic has to apply.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: You're like, oh, it's okay to ask for a refund.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: I don't think it does apply.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: And here's why.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But it does for the other?
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because when you're talking to somebody and it's just through texting and messaging, you can't quite get their personality.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: It's the same with like when we send out emails through work, and sometimes people will go, oh, she seems kind of harsh in an email.
- 6:08SPEAKER_02: I'm like, Oh, I'm not sure, I'm not being harsh, I'm just giving you the information.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: We like to call it direct here on the Scotty show.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: I'm just a direct person in an email, so I feel like it's hard to gauge that.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: But the the looks is this is you lying or not lying.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: And if you lied to me, yeah, I do want my money back.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I feel that it's very similar.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: And my my personal feeling, it's it to me, it's a little bit petty.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: It's like, uh you just move on to the next thing.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Same with the conversation, just or the spark wasn't there.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: And maybe not conversation, maybe it's just the spark.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And there's no spark.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: So uh, you know, we thought we had a there might have been a spark, but there wasn't a lot of things.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: But there's no line there for a refund.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: But there that's there's no lying there.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: It's like it's just Well, we're not 100% sure she lied.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: I'm not, but if she did, then yeah, give give me my money back.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Ooh, yeah.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: That's harsh.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because you lied to me.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: And I don't want to bait and switch.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: I don't want to believe that.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Yes, if there was a direct lie, if you held that camera so high in your car that you look like you are 5'7 and 1'10, and then I meet you and you're 2'10 and 5'3, that's a direct lie.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: And and this, and it's not even just weight stuff, it can be anything from that's why I brought up the teeth thing because I don't want to focus I don't want to focus on the weight thing because obviously I'm a curvier person, so weight doesn't bother me.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: Well, not having teeth does.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Speaking of the weight thing, I want you to share in a minute what somebody is doing with an inheritance dealing with weight, because I want to see where you fall on that based on what you're saying with this.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: We'll do that in a minute.
