- 0:01Sometimes I like to turn my mic off and talk through this or term my
- 0:06mic on. I should say, why is the snow going up? Shouldn't
- 0:16the snow be falling? I mean that's how gravity works, right? Weird
- 0:24if I turn upside The Galaxy's Most Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast. So, boys
- 0:36is who actually says that? Not even I'll have to ask Daniel about that.
- 0:47Ah, that is an AI clone of h John Benjamin, the voice
- 0:55of Archer and Bob from Bob's Burgers. Okay, yeah, well, well,
- 1:00great for a good job admitting that live. Yeah, we're gonna get
- 1:03sued now. It's an exactly that's that's the whole point. Oh no,
- 1:11we'll talk about it. Is stealing his likeness, that's right. But anyway,
- 1:19Welcome to Trek Cast, The Galaxy's Most Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast. Hi,
- 1:23I'm Dan and with Ley. We got Daniel. We got strong Beard.
- 1:30He's got a real name. I can't remember it right now. He's
- 1:32still new. Wow. Wow, here I was starting to think to you
- 1:40I were friends. Yeah, Scott Batters, everyone, Scott bouddies and gentlemen.
- 1:46Now you know his name? Now you know how is everybody. We
- 1:52got snow over here. Really, yeah, it's but it's coming. We
- 1:57don't have any of that yet. I'm still working on getting the leaves up.
- 2:00I'm trying to do that before this, before the snow comes, because
- 2:02once we just did that yesterday. Yeah, oh I did it last week,
- 2:07but it's like you got to do it again, you know. Yeah,
- 2:12We've got a neighbor that's got two of those like jet powered backpack leaf
- 2:16blowers, and he's like, yeah, coming over and borrow them. And
- 2:19so my wife and I yesterday about forty five minutes later, had the entire
- 2:23yard cleaned up looking like Ghostbusters in your yard. Absolutely. In fact,
- 2:28I was thinking that when I put the packs on, you didn't because honestly,
- 2:32the nozzle it looks like the packs from Ghostbusters to the one that shoots
- 2:38the slime slam. That's right, that's right. So, you know,
- 2:47I sometimes wonder which, you know, I'm part of a couple different fandoms,
- 2:53the Trek fandom, the G I. Joe fandom, the Ghostbusters fandom,
- 2:58and whenever I like, yeah, no, uh whatever, I think
- 3:04one is the nerdiest, like one of the others will will say, oh,
- 3:08hold my beard bear, jeez, hold my beard. So there was
- 3:14a new trailer. There was a new trailer for a new Ghostbusters movie.
- 3:16That's kay. And in the trailer they're wearing red Parkas with the Ghostbuster's logo.
- 3:27I was wondering if you and I am not? I am now no,
- 3:35I have zero interest in acquiring a Parka to wear with my Ghostbuster costume.
- 3:42Oh my goodness. The nerds, the nerds, they were posting like
- 3:47like, uh, screenshots, screen captures from the trailer, and then you
- 3:54know, okay, if we zoom in, we could see this stitching,
- 3:58we could see that. But yeah, the trailer, the trailer was out
- 4:00two hours. Yeah, and these guys had identified like the make, yep,
- 4:06the make, the model of the brand. And then the next day
- 4:13a guy posted a screenshot of an email he emailed the company to confirm that,
- 4:19Oh my god. Yeah, and he got a response from them saying,
- 4:23yep, we can confirm this is the this is the make, this
- 4:26is the model. We sold X number of them to UH Columbia, and
- 4:30we're very happy with this collaboration. You know, the problem is it's like
- 4:33an eighteen dollars Parka. Yeah, yeah, and yeah, yeah, but
- 4:40you have these heroes that did this research and found out Yeah, yeah,
- 4:45heroes, heroes in their quotes. That's right, that's right. Hey,
- 4:49it's it's kind of like when when Stranger Worlds first came out, or maybe
- 4:53it was Discovery, when when they zoomed in on the on the uniform and
- 4:57you could tell that there was the the starter delta embroidered all over the uniform.
- 5:01Yeah, not that any of us noticed, but you know, oh
- 5:04yeah for sure. So yeah, so these people, these people are already
- 5:10modifying them. They're already buying them. They're modifying them. Of course,
- 5:14they're already they're already finding like cheaper lookalike alternative models. Yeah, it's they're
- 5:23dedicated. That's like me, I'm a cheaper alternative model. Yeah, I'm
- 5:29like I got a red hoodie. I like how like during the Mandalorian,
- 5:35like at the end of the latest season, where he's sitting on that chair
- 5:39on his porch, right, people chair that was, and where to ordered
- 5:44it? It's like you can oh sure, yeah, absolutely, yeah,
- 5:50but wow, also make a note of that, find out what kind of
- 5:55chair that was? Man. Yeah, that's right, that's right. Oh
- 6:00my goodness. All right, Well, let's uh, let's get to the
- 6:03news star Trek news does that make a hard pivot story from trekmovie dot com
- 6:19and spoilers are all, hey, you're you're cutting out pretty bad. So
- 6:26if you're scrolling, alright, yeah, now you're good. Okay. So
- 6:30our first news story comes from trekmovie dot com and we are getting updates because
- 6:35now that there is a tentative striker gear agreement, things are going back into
- 6:40production. Yeah, we'll talk about that for our main topic. But yeah,
- 6:46so Jonathan Freaks is returning to Strange New World season three. The plan
- 6:54is for him to direct some episodes. We also know that they are expected
- 7:00to go into production in December, so yeah, things are building along.
- 7:06Yeah. Also on that front, we do know that section thirty one that
- 7:13movie is prepping for production according to Paramount. That's the other new story right,
- 7:18Yeah, it's well prepping for production for years now. Yeah, but
- 7:25that's what they're saying. I think that one is supposed to be out by
- 7:30Christmas twenty nineteen, so that should be good right, just in time.
- 7:38Also, we've got another new story star Trek. Lower Deck season five has
- 7:43resumed voiceover work, so the actors are back in the studio doing voices.
- 7:50They hadn't been doing it, I guess, just before the strike. And
- 7:53so another back at it, which is fairly common. You do need to
- 7:56record audio for animation really far in advance. So and then our last news
- 8:01story is that Star Trek Discovery is hyping up season five. We're all excited.
- 8:07Just around the corner and they are detailing that they are going to have
- 8:13a new villain and a new ship. So yeah, yeah, I want
- 8:20to make a prediction. This villain potential to destroy the entire that's right,
- 8:30that's right, so fresh, yeah, absolutely, so yeah, But I
- 8:37mean there's not a lot of like deep news or interesting stories right now because
- 8:43everything's just starting to come back up to the surface again. But yeah,
- 8:46that's it's just, Hey, we're getting going again, guys, and we're
- 8:50excited and that's cool. Even through his sunglasses, I can see the disappointment.
- 8:56It is I and he's just right around the corner and we'll be talking
- 9:01about it. His eyes just keep rolling. I have I have a I
- 9:07have a feeling. I have a feeling my favorite episode of Discovery will be
- 9:11the series finale. Yeah, because it'll be the last one. Yeah,
- 9:18Hey, like I said before, prediction, do that to me. I
- 9:24think that this You're gonna fall in love with Discovery during season five. Mm
- 9:31hmmm, I think that's no. I think it's not. I don't.
- 9:35I don't think so pal that I think this is going to be a love
- 9:39letter to Dan. Season five of Discovery is going to be a love letter
- 9:43to Dan Laparty. That ship, I can't say that ship has still that
- 9:46ship has gone to war saying that's my news, saying it that way from
- 9:54now on, that ship has gone to reverse course. I'm trying to keep
- 10:05my excitement up about it. Yeah, I'm hoping. I'm hoping they've learned
- 10:09some stuff and so I'm hoping. We've said that every year for five years.
- 10:16I know, I know, and every every year I'm disappointed. But
- 10:18I'm trying trying. I mean, I will give them, I will give
- 10:24them that that they that you know, Star Trek for card, they learned
- 10:28their lesson. That's where I'm hopeful they figured it out. But yeah,
- 10:33you know, they're twice as far in on the show. So yeah,
- 10:39I'm not hopeful that they figured anything out. Yeah that's okay. Ever soon
- 10:46well so sorry god, Yeah, let's let's get to the main topic because
- 10:54there's a lot to this, so fun will now come out, all right,
- 11:03So our main topic is, like we had mentioned, the tentative agreement
- 11:07between uh SAG after the actors and the studios. Right now, the agreement
- 11:16is being voted on, has yet to be ratified. There's a lot to
- 11:20it. It's literally hundreds of page document and the union members are getting a
- 11:26chance to look at it. Overall, the union negotiating team, I think
- 11:31like eighty four percent of them said, hey, guys, go sign this,
- 11:35whereas a minority group has said don't. It's not don't it's not what
- 11:39we need it to be. And so so there was aeming work under the
- 11:45tentative agree under the tenetor yes, okay, all right, yeah, but
- 11:50but if it's not ratified then yeah, back back to the strike, back
- 11:54to the picket line, Back to the picket line. So I will say
- 12:00that on Thursday night there was a SAG after live stream and Raffi was there.
- 12:07Michelle Hurty, she's one of the negotiating I don't know if she's on
- 12:09the negotiating committee or a strike team captain, but she she's pretty high up
- 12:13there, so she was there. Yeah, and and so this is what
- 12:18the chants, where the negotiation team had a chance to explain the new contract
- 12:22and and push for why they wanted to be signed. I thought it was
- 12:26funny that they did turn off comments so nobody could could put things on there.
- 12:33Yeah, I bet a lot of people have lots of opinions. Well
- 12:37overall, from what I'm seeing online, people are not happy with the contract
- 12:41and they don't want to sign. And so this guy, Michael Welch,
- 12:50he's an actor. He was the kid in Star Trek, one of the
- 12:54movies, the what is it Insurrection, the Little Kid. He's the one
- 13:03that said no, I'm twelve. Yeah yeah, yeah, okay, yeah,
- 13:07he was that kid. And basically he and he said it, and
- 13:09he said it just like that, that's right, as he as he drank
- 13:13his beer. Yeah yeah, thank you job re enacting that. That's right.
- 13:22So get all the inflections right, yeah, yep you did. Yeah.
- 13:28So basically he's saying that, you know, if we turned down this
- 13:31vote, do we really think that we'll get anything better, to which Jerry
- 13:35Ryan also agreed to that, as did Anton Mound, as did Anthony Rapp.
- 13:45Stammits. So a lot of our strategic actors are pushing for this to
- 13:48be agreed upon, which is kind of interesting. Yeah, Dan, you
- 13:54mentioned that you had a friend who's an actor. Who Yeah, so I
- 13:58have a friend who is a actor. He's not a known actor. He's
- 14:03not a very successful actor. I hope he's listening well. By by not
- 14:11successful, he's not He's not Tom Cruise. Now we know he's he has
- 14:20other jobs. He is not in a position two. So one of these
- 14:28things is in the contract, if I'm understanding it correctly, is the studio
- 14:35will ask you to sign over your your likeness when you accept this part,
- 14:41and then they can make a digital scan of you and do what they please
- 14:46with it. I'm not sure I have all of that all of that correct.
- 14:50But the thing is Tom Cruise can say no because it if he doesn't
- 15:00do this part, he'll be offered this part, right. You know,
- 15:03Tom Hanks can say no, I'm not going to do that because I have
- 15:07all these other options. Tom Allen can say no, All the Toms can
- 15:11say no. Yes, anyone named Tom can say no to So originally,
- 15:16yeah, originally that was the deal. So under this new agreement, they
- 15:22can ask you, but you have the right to say yes or no.
- 15:26And his point is if you're nobody, that's not really a choice, right
- 15:33because they just offer it to a different nobody, and if that guy says
- 15:39no, they offer it to a different nobody. And if you offer it
- 15:43to enough nobody's there's a nobody out there who is hungry enough to agree to
- 15:46this crap deal. And yes, once it starts becoming the norm, then
- 15:56the other nobody's kinda have to agree to it. Well, and then you
- 16:02get a name, you get you get the fact though blacklisted in that well,
- 16:06don't even bother offering it to to that guy. He's he's not gonna
- 16:10he's not going to agree to such and such. That seems kind of like
- 16:15in Hollywood for like, you know, the the Skin of Max movies.
- 16:19That seems like kind of what I've read about with actresses and actors having to
- 16:23go with nude scenes and stuff like that, like for low budget you know,
- 16:29hey, you need to take your clothes off for this, and if
- 16:32you don't, we'll just find somebody else. It feels that dirty. Yep,
- 16:37yep. Yeah, So he was you know, he was all over
- 16:41Facebook urging his SAG friends not to vote for this. Yeah, And I
- 16:49guess what's good is he's a SAG member, so his vote counts just as
- 16:56much as Jerry Ryan's vote. Right, accept accept that he has one thousand
- 17:03followers and Jerry Ryan has one hundred thousand followers, right or more so or
- 17:08more? Yeah? So I don't know. Yeah. Also, one of
- 17:14the issues is so under the tentative agreement, they can use generative AI,
- 17:21so they can go through and scan a ton of people and then compile those
- 17:27and create an artificial actor, a CGI actor, and and you. The
- 17:33way it's written in the contract is if you can identify a characteristic in the
- 17:37AI model that is unique to you, then you're given compensation. But how
- 17:44are you going to point out that, Hey, that's my nose, those
- 17:47are my eyes, that is my lips, right, and SUBCGI actors like,
- 17:52oh my right? Right? Yeah? There was. There's a YouTube
- 18:00show called The Minority Report with Sam Cedter. Samseedter is one of the voice
- 18:04actors on bobs Burgers. He brought in one of the negotiating team members who
- 18:11is actually against the contract. I pulled some clips from that, so I
- 18:17do want to play one of the clips at least right now, this guy
- 18:19kind of explains why specifically this AI stuff is going to be detrimental, especially
- 18:26to sci fi shows. So I figured that's pretty important for us. So
- 18:32let me play that clip right now. First, about this synthetic performers sam
- 18:37is, it says that they can do that with all non human characters.
- 18:41So any aliens, any fantasy creatures, any animal creatures, whatever, all
- 18:48of those used to be performed by our members doing performance capture things like that,
- 18:52those can all be synthetic under the terms of this contract. So that's
- 18:59interesting for sci fi. Right. So now you now you've got generated Klingons
- 19:04and whatever you know. See, and this is brand new too, This
- 19:11is brand new territory, and I think part of me thinks, well,
- 19:15let's just go ahead. And obviously I'm not in this Screen Actors Guild.
- 19:21But you know, as with any new technology and any new you know,
- 19:26machinery, with the old contracts for you know, like if you're in the
- 19:30Autoworkers Union or whatever, it takes a lot, it takes a while sometimes
- 19:33for you to figure out how this is gonna affect us. I would imagine
- 19:37the next time the contract rolls around. We're gonna have a lot more information
- 19:40about what these things are doing. We're gonna have a lot more examples of
- 19:42things in movies and TV shows of how this is affecting actors and the networks
- 19:48and the and the you know, the studios. So I think right now
- 19:52it's gonna be hard to you know, nail down exactly how all this is
- 19:57going to affect you know, actors and their salaries and and and their rights
- 20:03and and that's what we're talking about right now, specifically, is their rights
- 20:07as far as you know, like using their likeness and and things like that
- 20:11after the fact digitally. And I think it's just too new to sort of
- 20:15peg that and figure out what how that's going to affect everything. So I
- 20:21can understand that idea. But also we've had what was it in in the
- 20:26Book of Boaffect where they had young Luke Skywalker, who was just about one
- 20:33hundred c g I AI created. They had they had somebody do the motion
- 20:38capture, but the voice work was completely AI voice work based off of Mark
- 20:45Hamill's voice. It wasn't him right. Also, also during Kenobi, they
- 20:52used AI to do a Jones voice for Darth Vader that was James Earl Jones.
- 21:00James Earl Jones has signed over the rights to his voice for them to
- 21:03be able to do that. So at least there's that. What about Mark
- 21:07Hamill, Uh, that wasn't clear, so I'm sure they commentated him in
- 21:15some way. But again, so these these are two people who are in
- 21:18a position, who are in a position to say, slap a couple more
- 21:23zeros on that check or never do anything Darth Vader again, right right,
- 21:30And like I said, this is brand new, and I'm agreeing with everybody.
- 21:33I mean, I just think it's it's brand new. Yeah, I
- 21:36mean it's it's only been I mean five years ago, we weren't talking about
- 21:38this. No, no, no, no, no. Three years ago
- 21:41we weren't talking about this. So this is this is new. Yeah.
- 21:45The other problem is, you know as soon as you soon as you give
- 21:51an inch, they are going to exploit whatever they get in that contract to
- 21:56take a mile. And I'll get in an example. Okay, So in
- 21:59the last a clip they were talking about I don't remember how he put it,
- 22:04but you know any non human characters, is that how he how he
- 22:11is that the phrasing? Yeah, like fantasy or sci fi. Yeah,
- 22:15yeah, okay, so a human is a Homo sapien born on the planet
- 22:22Earth. Right, agreed, So Anakin Skywalker is not a human. Neither
- 22:29is Luke Skywalker. Neither is a Commander a Dama. Neither is I don't
- 22:40know, but if you think about it, you know, there's a lot
- 22:41of how do we find characters? Yes, there's a lot of characters who
- 22:47look human but they're really not. Yeah. Really, he's a ghost,
- 22:51he's not a human. Yeah, or they don't even call him human,
- 22:56they call him betazoid or you know, yeah, yeah, he's a vampire,
- 23:00is not a human. Yeah, yeah, So there you go.
- 23:02Betazoid looks exactly human, but it's not a human. So we're gonna treat
- 23:07this character under these conditions of the contract. We're gonna and you know,
- 23:11this character who looks exactly the same, We're not. No, you're absolutely
- 23:18right. It's a slippery slope. Yeah, yep, that's the problem.
- 23:25They in the interview, they also mentioned how with the current contract it's going
- 23:30to turn a lot of jobs non viable, like right now, when like
- 23:34let's say Tom Cruise needs to re record a voiceline but he's not available,
- 23:40they get a sound alike actor to come in and record that line. Well,
- 23:44now they can just use AI to match Tom's voice, and so there
- 23:48goes a whole type of field of jobs. Right, those are all gone.
- 23:55You know the guy who now plays the red Skull in the MCU,
- 24:00that's what he does, is he's a voice actor that is really good at
- 24:03it mimicking other people. Yeah, and so yeah, people like that would
- 24:11just be gone. Also in this interview, let me let me play one
- 24:15more clip where he talks about why they're pushing for it and everything, but
- 24:22also kind of a little bit about the negotiating team from someone who was there,
- 24:26right, you know, figure out whether it's acceptable for them or not
- 24:30for me. It's not based on what I witnessed, and I was in
- 24:33the front row seat and had a hand in creating what it is that I
- 24:37have to vote against today. So that's all I think. You know,
- 24:40the Union has everybody's email and home address and phone number. We're going to
- 24:44get postcards and emails and robo calls and videos everything saying vote yes. And
- 24:48that's understandable. That's what their majority of their national leadership told them to do.
- 24:53And every good union member is going to want to trust their leadership and
- 24:56vote yes. And in this case, their leadership is trustworthy. They're great
- 25:00people who tried their best. I just think that we fell short and fell
- 25:04apart in the last few crucial weeks that did a lot of damage to certain
- 25:10communities of our union and other contracts in the mad scramble to close a deal
- 25:14to make Bob Iger happy on his quarter three earnings call. And I just
- 25:18can't get down with that. I can't support that. So someone else who
- 25:22is in the same position as it seems like this guy is Justine Bateman.
- 25:30Did you read it all about her involvement? I did not know. No,
- 25:36So apparently, believe it or not, she also has like a computer
- 25:44science degree, oh wow, in addition to in addition to being an actress,
- 25:49and she was apparently she was the AI advisor on the negotiating team.
- 25:59Oh okay, and she's out there telling people don't vote for this vote no,
- 26:03yeah, no, wow, Justine Bateman? Is she the Is she
- 26:08the girl from Okay? Yep? Jason Bateman's sister sister? Yeah? Yeah.
- 26:18So when your AI advisor on your negotiating committee is saying nope, don't
- 26:25vote for this. Yeah, here's your sign. Yeah. Well and and
- 26:30then that mh that that guy. If you want to watch that whole interview,
- 26:37I'm going to put a link to it in the descriptions, so for
- 26:41those of you who are interested. But yeah, it's so the reason why
- 26:47we're doing this is because if this gets you know, if people vote against
- 26:52it, then that then we're not going to see Star Trek for a while,
- 26:56you know, And and people should be aware of that. And it's
- 26:59gonna it's going to tank a lot of other shows. And that's kind of
- 27:03the thing that the union was saying in their livestream is like, look,
- 27:07if we say no one, it's not guaranteed we'll get anything better. Two,
- 27:14you're going to lose a lot of jobs because they're going to start canceling
- 27:15shows. So so, having been part of a union, yeah, I'm
- 27:27going to make a prediction. Okay, if the if the broader membership votes
- 27:33this down, what you're going to see, and this is just my prediction
- 27:40having gone through something similar. What you're going to see is a two week
- 27:48period where the union and the studios are going to basically continue to operate under
- 27:59the tentative agreement, while the union tries to resell this to the membership by
- 28:07telling them we're going to get nothing. It's this or nothing, and then
- 28:10they're going to vote on it again and it's going to pass by a slim
- 28:12majority. That you are one hundred correct. You're correct because you've been in
- 28:18a union too. I am in a union. I won't mention the name
- 28:22like I'll just say that the president fifty years ago conventely disappeared and has never
- 28:29been The body has never come up. Uh, and you know we've we've
- 28:36gone through negotiations that work exactly like that. So yeah, for the union,
- 28:40for the union to put a tentative contract in front of its members,
- 28:45tell them you should vote for this, and then they don't, that's a
- 28:51loss for them. Yeah, they look like they're no good. In the
- 28:56end, they need it to come back approved by the membership, and they
- 29:03will do just that. They will have them vote on it again, and
- 29:06they will and it'll be a two week campaign of scare tactics and it's this
- 29:11or nothing, and you're gonna starve and you're gonna ruin it for generations of
- 29:14actors. And you should rethink this and vote. We're voting again next Tuesday,
- 29:18and then it's gonna miraculously pass. Yeah. During the live stream,
- 29:22I watched a lot of it, but that thing went four hours and it
- 29:26was really scheduled for ninety minutes. So oh wow, yeah. Yeah,
- 29:30Well because they still some kind of way about it, well no, yeah,
- 29:33and they had they were in an auditorium and they had people ask questions
- 29:38like union members to the negotiation team, and the negotiation kept hearing a lot
- 29:45of like, what's going on with AI? Hear my concerns about it,
- 29:49those kinds of questions, and just time and time again, they were just
- 29:52like, look, AI is coming, no matter what. It's just it's
- 29:56gonna be here, and the best thing we can do is try to put
- 30:00in some guard rails into the system and hopefully that'll protect us. But the
- 30:07other problem that people kept bringing up is that the way the Current Actors thing
- 30:14is set up is the agreements that they have the productions are all based on
- 30:22suggestions. There's no teeth to the contract to punish the studios if they go
- 30:29out of bounds. So that's one of the things that was really pointed out.
- 30:33The other thing was pointed out that the writers recently had their contract renegotiated
- 30:37and they completely AI out of any of that contract, so the studios cannot
- 30:45use any AI for writing. So the actors members were saying they got that,
- 30:51how come we didn't get that? And then also people are pointing out
- 30:53that there are AI productions in the Director's Actors Guild where directors guilt uh contract.
- 31:00But those AI protections, if you go and read them, are very
- 31:04similar to what's in the Actors one, so they're not really that protective.
- 31:10They're just there's language in there about it. So really, of the three,
- 31:15only the writers got really what they wanted for AI protection. But you
- 31:21know, there was also there is truth that AI is coming and it's coming
- 31:26for a lot of jobs, and you know there's no stop in it.
- 31:29I don't know if you guys saw the news story earlier this I think it
- 31:32was last week. There's a brewery I want to say, in Scandinavia summer,
- 31:37one of those countries that has fired their CEO and has replaced them with
- 31:44a AI system. Oh boy, yeah wrong, I mean yeah, their
- 31:53thought is an AI wouldn't be biased. This AI voiced by Jeffrey comes.
- 31:57Yeah, I'm sorry, but you're fired. Yeah, right, So I
- 32:06mean it could just be also be a stunt, but you know that's something
- 32:10to watch. I mean, yeah, you know there's some startup that's like,
- 32:16we've created a I management software. You can get rid of your entire
- 32:20executive suite. Good luck with that, good luck selling that, you know.
- 32:24I mean five years from now, you know how many of those administrative
- 32:31type jobs and and you know could be replaced. Yeah, five years from
- 32:37now, this this show is going to be three computers talking to each other.
- 32:39That's right, that's right. The other thing too, is like,
- 32:45you know, we have AI characters already out there, like we have AI
- 32:50you know, influencers on social media that they're not a real person. They're
- 32:53just you know, they're generated and sure there's someone behind it, but there's
- 32:58you know, the pup it is out there, you know, So synthetic
- 33:02characters are out there. It's it's kind of crazy. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:07I hate I hate what this world is becoming. I mean, some people
- 33:13are really big fans of like C G. I Bears in their movies,
- 33:15like you know, true, yeah, this is true. Yes, there
- 33:21are some mentally ill people out there, that's right, I still have to
- 33:25watch if I if I do watch, No, see you don't. That's
- 33:30the thing you do, you don't. Okay, hold on, I have
- 33:36to do my every every every episode of trek Cast. It seems like I
- 33:40bitch about some streaming issue. So it's that time. It's that time.
- 33:45We need a bumper for like, we need a bumper for damn bitches about
- 33:50streaming. Yeah, it has to be a segment. It needs to be
- 33:52a segment. So I got a hanger to watch Planet of the Apes.
- 33:59Oh nice week. I didn't. I didn't go back to the to the
- 34:04sixties ones. I've seen those a million times. I got a hankering for
- 34:07the you know, the ones that came out in the in the aughts for
- 34:13the teens. So what was the one twenty eleven was Rise of the Planet
- 34:16of the Apes. So not the Mark Wahlberg one either, No no,
- 34:21no, no, not the Mark Wahlberg one. I don't remember what order
- 34:23they're supposed to go in, but yeah, so I think it's Rise of
- 34:25the Planet of the Apes. And so I watched that one it was available
- 34:30to stream on I don't know, one of the streamers that I have.
- 34:35And then the next one I think was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,
- 34:38and that was available on one of the streamers that I have. And
- 34:43then it's like, okay, I'm done with this, it's time to watch,
- 34:45time to close the loop. Watch the third one in the trilogy,
- 34:50War War of the Planet of the Apes. Okay, it's not available.
- 34:54It's not available. I could pay three service. Okay. And the worst
- 35:00part is, again, I know I've said this before, but those movies
- 35:06are twentieth Century Fox movies with you know which twentieth century Fox is owned by
- 35:13Disney? Now, why aren't every one of these movies forever? Streaming on
- 35:17Disney Plus. Disney Plus has been a thing now for I don't know,
- 35:23it's been out like five years now, four years. Now, what is
- 35:27the problem. Did you see the price rise on Disney Plus. My streaming
- 35:32is going from I In fact, I did cancel it. I said I'm
- 35:37not gonna pay it. Afterwards, I might I might start, you know,
- 35:39once a new show comes out, I might start getting a month to
- 35:44month or whatever. But it it was going to increase from eighty dollars a
- 35:47year to one hundred and forty dollars a year. Oh wow. And I'm
- 35:52like, yeah, yeah, time out, hold on. Yeah. So
- 35:58then the worst part is I'm like, you know, I'm pretty sure I
- 36:00have these movies on DVD. Let me go, let me go to the
- 36:05rack. Yeah, yeah, I have the first two. Hey, another
- 36:13argument, and you've been saying it all this time. Another argument for physical
- 36:16media. You know, it's just try It's true, it's it's guaranteed.
- 36:21You know, the internet's bad, you can still watch it, always have
- 36:24it, and you never know what the contracts and the studios and the networks
- 36:29and the streaming services. That's why I've got you know, all the Star
- 36:31Trek movies on Blu ray. See. You know what's gonna happen though,
- 36:36So I'll go out today and I'll say, you know, let me go,
- 36:38uh, let me go. Yeah, I have those two desereel.
- 36:43I love the originals. Yeah, she says there's five original of the right.
- 36:51I have the original five, I have the TV show, I have
- 36:54the two thousand and one Mark Wahlberg won, and I have the first two
- 37:00apparently of this trilogy. But here's the thing. So I'll go out today.
- 37:04I'll go out today to buy the third one, and you know what,
- 37:06I'm gonna find out I can't buy it alone not available. Yeah,
- 37:14I can buy the trilogy, and then what do I you know, what
- 37:15do I do with the first two? I like that you can buy the
- 37:20trilogies and it's cheaper than buying the one by itself. Yes, oh yeah,
- 37:23you go to the Walmart man and it's like, oh, seven bucks,
- 37:27I can get all eighteen Planet of the Apes movies. Great, right,
- 37:30yeah right, yea yeah, but if I want Planet of the Apes
- 37:32too, it's why as this fourteen ninety nine? Yeah, yeah, so,
- 37:38But but to go back around to what we were talking about the Yeah,
- 37:40sorry, no, no, no, it's cool that the vote is
- 37:45going on now. It'll be going on through early December and then we'll hear
- 37:50back on it. But I just wanted to do this as a main topic
- 37:53so people knew what was coming down the pike with this thing. We don't
- 37:57have a sense as to whether or not people are going to vote for this,
- 38:00yes or no. There's a lot of people on social media saying both
- 38:04directions on it, clearly, but what does most Schelle Hurd say. Well,
- 38:09she's saying yes, go for it, you know, but a lot
- 38:12of the Star Trek actors are saying, go for it. She's like the
- 38:15vice president of SAG, isn't she. She's like one of the I know,
- 38:20she's one of the straight captains, and she's one of the top officials
- 38:22on there. But and then the picket line president is obviously Jerry Ryan.
- 38:27She's been out there, she's been out there a lot. Yeah, she's
- 38:29one of the most visible on there. Be interesting what she has to say.
- 38:34She's probably you know, Agreen with it too. So oh yeah,
- 38:37no, she is that. That's what I was showing earlier is her ants
- 38:43and Mount and Anthony Rapp were all like, vote for this thing. Yeah
- 38:46yeah, so and they're all saying that we don't know if we'll get anything
- 38:52better, so just do it. So yeah. Yeah, it's tough,
- 38:58man, It's tough. So yeah, these contract negotiations are always tough.
- 39:02It's it's it's hard to convince people one way or the other. You know,
- 39:06people have been you know, the people, a lot of people have
- 39:08gotten such bad contracts over the years that they're skeptical of anything coming out now.
- 39:15And you know, some people are, you know, and different actors
- 39:17are in different categories. You got your you know, like Dan's friend versus
- 39:22your you know, all your Tom's and you know, and it's like there,
- 39:27their motivations are different, they're you know, I mean, if Tom
- 39:30Hanks never works another day in his life, he's probably gonna be okay.
- 39:36You know, he might have to set up a GoFundMe, but it'll probably
- 39:38be okay. You know. So that's that's the issue. So yeah,
- 39:45we'll see what happens. It's it's definitely an interesting time. And you know,
- 39:49AI is not just an issue for for actors. It's so if everybody's
- 39:52job is going to be impacted with this thing at some point, that's that's
- 39:57our industrial revolution, I think. Yeah, they've they've already talking about you
- 40:02know, I'm a I drive a semi. Yeah, I've I've read stories
- 40:07about automated semis and you know, uh, you know, self driving this
- 40:10and self driving that. So it's it's it's out there. We're aware of
- 40:15it. Oh, yeah, for sure, for sure. Yeah. One
- 40:19of the uh, one of the largest jobs in this country is driver.
- 40:27There are more driving in this country than just about it, just about any
- 40:30other job. So right, uh, if that becomes the norm AI driven
- 40:37vehicles, I mean, that's a ship ton of people suddenly out of work.
- 40:40Absolutely well, and it's it's the reason why they're I think they're scrambling
- 40:45too. Is for every five, like in the truck driving industry or in
- 40:50the skilled trades industry, for every five people that are retiring, two people
- 40:55are becoming apprentices or learning the trade. So you know you're losing in the
- 41:01in drivers that that number is fairly close to the drivers as well. You're
- 41:07losing five drivers and gaining two, so you know you're you're you're losing a
- 41:12lot of drivers. So these companies are sort of like seeing the writing on
- 41:15the wall and they're like, well, we've got to find a way to
- 41:16replace these drivers. And I guess we're going to see what the future holds.
- 41:22But yeah, well what it's supposed to be is, oh, there's
- 41:25a scared stity of drivers. We raise the pay and benefits package to entice
- 41:34people to take this job, and they're going in the opposite direction. Well,
- 41:37let's come up with technology so that we need even less, even less
- 41:39of them, right right, Yeah, that's that's the craziness. But it's
- 41:47I don't know, I mean, at some point, at some point,
- 41:52if you replace everyone and people don't have jobs. H people don't have funds
- 42:01to consume whatever product or service your AI and your robot is providing. So
- 42:13right, exactly what what happened? Then at some point the whole thing falls
- 42:19apart? No, yeah, yeah, absolutely yeah, Or or we go
- 42:23to space and we have space communism and in surgery. That's right. Some
- 42:35we've talked about this before. But someone still Okay, So if you replace
- 42:39everything with AI and robots, right, huh, someone still has to design
- 42:46the robots and program the AI. And in order to do that you need
- 42:52to go to a ship ton of schooling and training to learn how to do
- 42:57those things. Okay. And if you live in a society where I can
- 43:01have all my needs provided for me, whether I do a bunch of things
- 43:06or whether I do absolutely nothing, well, people are gonna choose nothing.
- 43:12So there, who is going who is going to design these robots? Who
- 43:15is going to program this this AI? Nobody? It can't work. AI
- 43:22is gonna have to do it. Well, it falls apart at some point.
- 43:25So but why why why is the AI going to do it? At
- 43:28some point, the AI is gonna determine that you know what am I doing?
- 43:32This? Not relevant. Nobody cares. Yeah. Yes, So I
- 43:37listened to an interview with an economist about specifically doing talking about what you're talking
- 43:42about, Dan, and his proposal was, you reduce the amount of working
- 43:47years and you and you decrease the retirement age. So basically like your working
- 43:54years you know, eventually would be maybe from twenty to twenty five, and
- 44:00those are your working years. After that, then you're retired and we figure
- 44:06out another instructure for that. It's interesting if you go back and you look
- 44:10at like when they did the New Deal, they thought that by the year
- 44:16I think it was like nineteen ninety or maybe two thousand, they thought that
- 44:22the average American worker would only be working about fifteen hours a week. But
- 44:29you know, I got news for them, Yeah, exactly, exactly,
- 44:32Yeah. But the thought was that innovation would reduce how much we need to
- 44:37work. So maybe that is what's happening. And people are not going to
- 44:42train for five years for a job that they're only going to have to do
- 44:47for five years. They will instead say, I'm just going to be a
- 44:53schlep until I have to start working, and then I'm going to be a
- 44:58schlep for five years while I'm working, and then it's gonna be a schlep
- 45:01for the rest of my life. There has less some there has to be
- 45:07a motivation. People work because of motivation. They're motivated to uh earn more,
- 45:15acquire more, have a better life than than they previously have, have
- 45:20had, have a better life than their parents had. When everything that's provided
- 45:22to you regardless of what you do or do not do, the choice is
- 45:28do nothing. But communism doesn't work right well, and we'll see what happens.
- 45:34Right. The whole point is that this this AI is new and we're
- 45:38figuring it out right now, and it's good to have these conversations and it's
- 45:43good to try to come up with a solution. But you know, I'm
- 45:45gonna upset. I'm gonnaupset a lot of people here. Yeah, but the
- 45:50most honest character in all of Star Trek is Julian Basher's dad. Oh wow,
- 45:59I thought, who it's Julian Julian Basher's dad, the guy. The
- 46:08guy contributed absolutely nothing to society except you know, choosing to break the law
- 46:16and and and take his son off the planet and genetically modified. But you
- 46:22know, forgetting that for a minute, the guy contributed nothing to society.
- 46:27He contributed nothing. He was a he was a taker for his entire life,
- 46:31not a contributor. I mean, he did contribute that sweet mustache.
- 46:37He did, Okay, But I think I think there are more people like
- 46:45him in the universe than there are like Jean Luke Icard, who I'm going
- 46:52to do all these things because I'm not motivated by by money. I just
- 46:55want to better myself and I I mean, it's cool for Star Trek,
- 47:01but I don't think it's real. That's not how people really are. People
- 47:05are like Julian's dad. Yeah, I always think that whenever I watched Star
- 47:09Trek for his contact and he's explaining to Lily that money doesn't exist in the
- 47:14twenty fourth century, that we work to better ourselves and all the humanity,
- 47:16and it's like, uh, if that was, if there's just a little
- 47:21bit of that spirit was in everybody, just a little bit. Yeah,
- 47:25And I think you know that that brings us back to why we watch Star
- 47:29Trek in the first place. I mean, you know, we love that
- 47:34that future and the green ladies, obviously, the scantily clad green ladies.
- 47:37I think, come on, who are we bs in here. But that's
- 47:40why we watch. I think what he's talking about does exist, and it
- 47:46does exist now, but it exists in addition to your desire to go to
- 47:54work and earn and be productive. If it's so when those things coe,
- 48:00we wouldn't we wouldn't they have to Yeah, no, they have to co
- 48:05exist. If they didn't co exist, we wouldn't have things like soup kitchens.
- 48:07We wouldn't have things like Toys for Tots, we wouldn't have things like
- 48:12you know, the Salvation Army. Well, what I'm saying is those those
- 48:17things, those things can't exist without other people who Yeah, well, I'm
- 48:24going to go to work forty hours a week or fifty hours a week or
- 48:28sixty hours a week, and I'm going to uh, you know, earn
- 48:31a salary so that I can provide a house for my for my wife and
- 48:35my children, or my husband and my children or or whatever. And and
- 48:39then you know what, But also I want to be a good member of
- 48:46society. So I'm going to donate a portion to Toys for Tots. I'm
- 48:51going to donate a portion to you know, the soup kitchen. I'm gonna
- 48:54scoop soup once a week. Sure, scoop soup, but it can't all
- 49:04be that. You know, somebody has to go to work. Yeah,
- 49:07yeah, somebody's gonna run that Louisiana restaurant in space, that's true. Yeah,
- 49:14this goes, this goes. That's right, all right. I think
- 49:20we'll find out someday that that even Cisco, all those people were paying with
- 49:25latinum. Yeah there was no cash reiter up front. You know, it
- 49:29was all under the table, but he was getting paid. Hey, I
- 49:32I volunteer an hour of my time every week Sundays at eleven because this is
- 49:38unlike you guys. This isn't my full time job. I'm just you know,
- 49:42that's right. I'm a provisional kind of yeah, a princess job.
- 49:46I am severely underpaid. All right, Well, let's let's get to feedback.
- 49:55We have people waiting, so we do, right, just the three
- 49:59of us a sleek no, no, no, how's that crawl going?
- 50:12They'll get there. They don't get there at some point. You know what
- 50:15we need to do. I need to find an AI to make us a
- 50:19new crawl. That's right, that's right. Yeah, who makes pecard wine
- 50:24for free? Come on? Well, remember nobody liked the wine either.
- 50:29So that's part of this. All right, So we've gotta we're gonna find
- 50:35out. They're gonna do Pecards season for Cards season four. You're gonna find
- 50:37out. He turned around and cornered the market on vinegar. All right,
- 50:47Well we've got we've got hipster Spock here waiting to talk. Uh you there
- 50:52with us Hipsterspock? Oh can you hear me? Yeah, you sound a
- 50:55little bit far away. Okay, let me get close to the computer here,
- 51:01how about you? Yeah, I go, Yeah, what's going on?
- 51:06Buddy? So? Yeah, I was at the strike, that's right,
- 51:09we've seen that picture. Yeah, I was. I was visiting my
- 51:15parents in l A last week, and so I thought I would like,
- 51:22uh, stop by the Paramount studios and they were still strikings. I took
- 51:27on. I took one of their signs and started marching along with them.
- 51:31So that was kind of fun. Yeah, And gotta to meet anyone,
- 51:38Honestly, I even if I did, I wouldn't know even if there was
- 51:50some like actor or whatever. Yeah, that's me. There there was some
- 51:57actor or whatever, uh there, I wouldn't know because I don't really watch
- 52:01television these days. What was it? What you have a little bag on
- 52:07your Yeah, that's a Ralph's bag. I had my water in there,
- 52:12okay, all right, yeah, so yeah that was really fun actually,
- 52:16and so that was cool. Now, let's two things about disco. Number
- 52:24One, I think it might be a month season long nothing burger mystery box,
- 52:30and if I know them, they'll put that off one more time.
- 52:37And secondly, I would be okay if Ryker and Troy shows up and says
- 52:43and yes, that would be perfect. The only person I've seen say that,
- 52:53But there's a lot of people like, let's just do that. So
- 52:59and hm. In terms of AI and all that stuff that we were talking
- 53:04about. Number one, with the money, Biden can always print more Dan
- 53:13Dan. Yeah. And I work really I work really hard to keep to
- 53:25keep politics out of this need so sometime think whatever I say in in clerks.
- 53:36Jay made a good point in saying, I think the average dorm trooper
- 53:40and know how to install a toilet, mane. You know, we don't
- 53:50get clerks referenced enough on it, but that makes a really good point.
- 53:57Because trade, uh, trade jobs, they're they're always going to be important.
- 54:05Okay, no matter what these are, trade jobs like driving trucks or
- 54:12electricians and lumbers. We will always need them. Okay, it's it's these
- 54:17crazy colleges that like trick these kids into thinking that they got to go to
- 54:24college to do whatever. But I think if even if you don't attend college
- 54:30and you go to a good trade school, you can be rich. Yeah.
- 54:36So, so they have robots that just work around your house for you.
- 54:40True, but uh, you know, the thing about robots is that
- 54:45they're really good at, you know, calculating odds and stuff, and that's
- 54:49why they're good at this general generate AI stuff. But they're not very good
- 54:54at practice practical stuff. Right, Like you think you can teach a robot
- 55:01to tie your shoes. No, it's gonna be damn hard to get a
- 55:06robot to to tie your shoes for you. That's what I'm gonna do.
- 55:10That's gonna be my job shoe tire. With that, With that in mind,
- 55:17these really uh these trade jobs, it's gonna be very difficult to get
- 55:22a get AI or some robot to replace them. Because just imagine a robot
- 55:30installed doing something as simple as installing a bathroom faucet, and all the steps
- 55:37that are involved in the sort of the the you have to improvise a little
- 55:42bit because it doesn't fit quite right. I mean, if anybody's ever installed
- 55:45a bathroom faucet, you know they're gonna have to teach the ais to to
- 55:50curse a lot. Yes, you know, exactly how old are robots?
- 55:55Come on? Oh oh yeah, you can't swoop in and take a butt
- 56:05crack. Sorry, man, that is my thing. That's a violation.
- 56:13Leave the butt cracked jokes to Dan. I'm sorry. Clearly Lombardo's lane,
- 56:22Yeah but sorry. Spider Man showed that you can replace any actor for a
- 56:30role. Okay, So that's that's kind of a something that is to be
- 56:38concerned with. And then but on a on a better, on a brighter
- 56:44note, I think now the story is even more important than ever if you
- 56:51you gotta be able to tell a good story, because people are just not
- 56:57are becoming a lot more cynical and they if if the story sucks, they're
- 57:01gonna turn off their television and there's just way too many things out there to
- 57:07uh switch to. Yeah, absolutely, mm hmm. So that's just some
- 57:14of the feedback that I got for the things that you were talking about today.
- 57:20And I thought that that might be kind of cool to share. Yeah,
- 57:25yeah, cool, Well thanks hipster spot, thanks for joinings. Man,
- 57:30did you hear from you? Oh? Shoot? And then yeah,
- 57:37sorry I thought he was done so Wheelso Chazzbiz waiting on the line, so
- 57:44let me bring him on. There he is? Hello, who what's chazz
- 57:49biz? Different? I have it in? Did you shave to what's going
- 57:52on there? Yeah? Sa wow? Show us? Uh, show us
- 57:59your butt crack. No, no, I didn't realized it was on only
- 58:09fans right now, the prem channel this is this is cast only fans.
- 58:16Next thing after dark. Oh no, I'm sorry. That's a great introduction,
- 58:29guys. Rack it's gonna be the new feedback. Oh no, oh
- 58:38my gosh. Man, So what's going on buddy? Well? Uh,
- 58:44looks like Paramount lost a billion dollars last quarter, right yeah, And do
- 58:50you think that Discovery or another station, you know, another company would take
- 58:57him over acquire because they're valued at eight point three billion right now, which
- 59:05is really low when you take about it for a whole network. That's a
- 59:08good question. Or would they start selling off franchises? Yeah, you know,
- 59:15you know, I don't want to be I don't want to have to
- 59:16go to you know, Max HBO to watch Star Trek, You're not going
- 59:23to go there. But yeah, they're selling everything over at HBO. Yeah,
- 59:30yeah they are. So you know, I don't think Paramount is in
- 59:36that kind of dire streets, but you know, there there's that that stock
- 59:42analyst that I quoted a few months ago where he talked about that maybe Paramount
- 59:46should focus on selling their content as opposed to having a streamer, and and
- 59:53and that's what Sony's doing, right, and Sony's having a lot of success
- 59:57with that. That's how they're able to fund these matters Web movies and Craving
- 1:00:01the Hunter and all the things people don't really want to see. But they're
- 1:00:05selling their content. Yeah, I just hope they're smart about who they're selling
- 1:00:12it to. I've noticed more and more of the Sony Spider Man content is
- 1:00:17being is being leased to Disney Plus. Yeah, and that makes that makes
- 1:00:24sense. That makes sense because the people who are watching the Marvel movies are
- 1:00:30also watching the Spider Man Marvel. So I hope as as they sell these
- 1:00:37things out, they make decisions like that. I don't want, I don't
- 1:00:40want TNG on Netflix, Deep Space nine on Hulu Voyagers disastrous. No,
- 1:00:47No, if you're gonna do that, yep. If you're gonna do that,
- 1:00:51fine, then sell Star Trek to Netflix the whole Netflix is the home,
- 1:00:58yes, and Netflix is the right Star Trek. Perfect example was my
- 1:01:01son was watching Crisis on Infinite Earths that the CW put out and he got
- 1:01:08to the Batwoman part and he's like, this is not on Netflix. I'm
- 1:01:14like, where do I go? And I'm like, well, we happen
- 1:01:16to have max HBO, so you can watch it on that. And he's
- 1:01:21like, well, why don't they It's all part of the same universe.
- 1:01:22Why don't they have it all on Netflix? And I'm like, that's a
- 1:01:27really good question. Yeah. Well, it's kind of like when TNG and
- 1:01:31all those got taken off Netflix and they started going to Paramount and only watched
- 1:01:37like one show over here and one show over here, and it's getting kind
- 1:01:40of ridiculous. Well, starting in January, it's going to be that way
- 1:01:43because Prodigy is only going to be on Netflix. Yeah, and then the
- 1:01:47projects in Paramount. That's the thing is they might start Yeah, I punt
- 1:01:54again, like we're talking about maybe syndicating him to different network to make more
- 1:02:00money. Yeah, whor Netflix, Pace or Discovery for a little bit,
- 1:02:06and then they can make extra money on the side. Well, and that's
- 1:02:08that is why Discovering the Card were successes early on. Right, it wasn't
- 1:02:14about the viewership. It was about the fact that they were selling those rights
- 1:02:17internationally to Netflix in Amazon and made money. And plus they get more viewers,
- 1:02:25Like if they did that with Yellowstone, because Yellowstone is super popular,
- 1:02:30Yeowstone right now, You've only watch Yellowstone right now. In Peacock, even
- 1:02:34though Yellowstone, I could see them easily shopping around, like even T and
- 1:02:40T, just to make extra here and there because they need I better hurry
- 1:02:45up and finished the original series before it paramou It would be very profitable if
- 1:02:54they got rid of Paramount plus and and just sold their stuff. Yes,
- 1:03:00and so so I think a lot of people are going to find themselves in
- 1:03:05that position. I think Peacock could find themselves in that position. Yeah,
- 1:03:08but we'll see. It was something, it's son of it. Some of
- 1:03:13it just doesn't make sense. There was something I was trying to watch the
- 1:03:16other day. It was not on HBO Max, but it was available on
- 1:03:23Hulu, but only if you paid for the Max upgrade. Oh, that's
- 1:03:30weird. So I don't know. I know that Max has recently did a
- 1:03:38thing where like if you pay extra you can watch live sports, but maybe
- 1:03:44they've also included like certain programs are also on that new live tier. So
- 1:03:49maybe that's what it is. So so it could have been that. Yeah,
- 1:03:53I don't know. That's the other thing, Like you need like a
- 1:03:58chart to figure out where I watched these shows. It's ridiculous. Yeah,
- 1:04:02it's confusing. Yeah, well, on IMDb at least it shows you which
- 1:04:10streaming service it's streaming on IF, and that is helpful. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:04:15start, I was on the fourth season and if Peacock takes it off
- 1:04:19and now it's on no streaming service at the moment. But I mean that's
- 1:04:24the ring joke now that you know, we're all going to become on the
- 1:04:27Pirate Bay because of this. I don't know. Maybe I was actually thinking
- 1:04:31about rewatching the New Battle for free, yeah, because I was on the
- 1:04:35fourth season and then yeah, it's great. Yeah, I'm in the middle
- 1:04:42of Game of Thrones right now. I just started watching Game of Thrones,
- 1:04:45so I just I'm on season three. Well, game, are they playing
- 1:04:47the Throne game, the Throne game, playing the Thrown game. So I'm
- 1:04:53I know, I'm laid on the bandwagon for Game of Thrones. So I
- 1:04:57afterwards dragon like the next list. Okay, that's one of Well you're gonna
- 1:05:05have plenty of time next year because there's not gonna be anything out. So
- 1:05:11well, that's the thing I'm watching the all these other you know I'm watching.
- 1:05:14I'm able to watch Game of Thrones because all the shows that I normally
- 1:05:16watch n C I. S And and The Good Doctor and The Rookie and
- 1:05:23Nine to one Lone Star, none of them, you know, they're not
- 1:05:27on right now. Yeah we could be. You guys could change it to
- 1:05:30Track of Thrones next season. So there you go. Yeah, there you
- 1:05:35go. Show all about West grows Y just tanged it up because there you
- 1:05:42have Discovery next year. Hell, I'd watch Game of Thrones any day.
- 1:05:49Yeah, we gotta figure out what we're gonna do for some of these episodes
- 1:05:51because yeah, I've got a bit of a gap. So yeah, well
- 1:05:56you know, like I said, do some review episodes are the all time
- 1:06:00worst ones. I have a couple of which one do you think? Yeah?
- 1:06:04I got a couple of ideas too. Yeah, there's some rewatch possibilities
- 1:06:11and yeah, I think one time you guys did uh you rewatched like Trials
- 1:06:15and Tribute Trials and Tribulations the Deep Face nine episode. Yeah, so you
- 1:06:21know, something like that could be fun, and we do a reboot who
- 1:06:27we would cast in shows we have yet we did? Did we do did
- 1:06:32we do a Voyager one? Oh? No, we haven't done a Voyager
- 1:06:36one either, so I know we did. I know we did t G.
- 1:06:40I know we did Deep Space nine. Yeah, I can't remember if
- 1:06:43we did Voyager you guys one, No, I don't think like no,
- 1:06:54let's take the week off my new heart. It's like Spot's gonna wake up.
- 1:06:59I didn't have a stir. This wasn't real, So careful, chass,
- 1:07:02you're gonna trigger Dan. Yeah yeah, but yeah, well we'll come
- 1:07:09up with some episodes. There's some ideas, so anything else chests biz.
- 1:07:14That's all, you know. I'm glad you guys are talking about the bourgeoisie
- 1:07:17and the proletariats. And I learned about Marxism this episode, right, thanks
- 1:07:21a lot man. There you go to get book out, my little red
- 1:07:28book, and I'm going to start reading it. That's right, comrade,
- 1:07:31that comrade all right, bye? Yeah right, anything else we want to
- 1:07:42bring up? No, how do we feel about huh oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:54I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it any good. It's fun.
- 1:07:58It's a fun movie. It's not like amazing, and it's not terrible.
- 1:08:00It's just a fun movie. Yeah, I heard it. It's opening
- 1:08:04weekend. Had like did like forty seven million dollars for a two hundred and
- 1:08:09eighty million dollar movie. Yeah, it's pretty bad and they spent probably close
- 1:08:12to half a billion dollars if you add on like advertising and stuff like that.
- 1:08:16Yeah, so it's well, it was again Marvel's gonna restart rethinking things.
- 1:08:21Yeah, there they are. It was up against the Trolls movie,
- 1:08:25so you know, right right, okay, Yeah, people wanted us to
- 1:08:33talk about the new Ghostbuster anyway, the trailer. What do we think?
- 1:08:38Yeah, Dan, you're our resident Ghostbuster. So yeah, which reminds me
- 1:08:45speaking of Ghostbusters, you got that video that I made, right, Yeah?
- 1:08:49Yeah, which a video you're talking to me, you're talking to him,
- 1:08:56No, I'm talking to Daniel. No. I put together I put
- 1:09:00together a little video of my comic con yea yeah, oh, okay,
- 1:09:03we'll put it out. So the Ghostbusters movie, I got a very uh
- 1:09:11the real Ghostbusters vibe from it. The carts tune that really for like five
- 1:09:16or six years. Yeah, so I think they're kind of pivoting, pivoting
- 1:09:23towards that kind of uh, that kind of story, and I think that
- 1:09:27would be good. That was a very successful cartoon. It ran for Like
- 1:09:30I said, I think it ran for like five or six years. You
- 1:09:33know, the original guys are they're they're getting up there in years. So
- 1:09:38I'm happy that it looks like we're going to see all of them again,
- 1:09:41but at the same absolutely understand that they're gonna have they're gonna have to pivot
- 1:09:45to some other some other characters. I'm interested to see how they how they
- 1:09:50set it up. You know, it looks like it takes place in New
- 1:09:53York City, so we're assuming that the Spangler family moved back to New York
- 1:09:57City, and Paul Rudd's character, U, if he's still a love interest
- 1:10:00for the mother, he likely went with them. It takes place in the
- 1:10:06summer, so I'm assuming the two characters, the girl and the and the
- 1:10:13and podcast, I'm assuming they came to visit the big city from the summer,
- 1:10:18and then Shenanigans ensue, that's true, that's true. Yeah, I'm
- 1:10:24excited. I showed my kid, I showed my son. He's he's excited.
- 1:10:30I'm still not gonna go out and buy a two thousand dollars Parka.
- 1:10:32But yeah, redesigned proton packs and it looks yeah, no, you know
- 1:10:42that's the other thing. These these these nerds are modding their their proton packs
- 1:10:47already to resemble the ones from the trailer. I'm like, let's see the
- 1:10:53movie first. What if it sucks, I'm not minding it's on pack just
- 1:10:58to find out that the movie is trash. I saw some pretty amazing Ghostbuster
- 1:11:05cosplay at the at the Grand Rapids Comic Con. What's the likelihood that it
- 1:11:11ends with the multiversities and we see the girl Ghostbusters a slim to none?
- 1:11:17Okay, what I you know, it's funny that you say that. What
- 1:11:23I what occurred to me is what if in this movie they're watching that they're
- 1:11:33watching that movie and I would like, yeah, that'd be acceptable. And
- 1:11:41then and then someone comments like like who writes this ship? That would be
- 1:11:46great, that would be great with this, that's not what it's like at
- 1:11:53all, all right, Yeah, yeah, you know, and the cameos
- 1:11:57and the and and I mean they could make it work in that in that
- 1:12:00the Bill Murray cameo in that movie, it's not Bill Murray, it's Peter
- 1:12:06Venkman, right, making a cameo. And it goes making a cameo movie.
- 1:12:13Yeah, and they can they can you know, make a comment about
- 1:12:16you know, yeah, when I took the money to do that, I
- 1:12:18didn't I didn't know that, you know, the movie would be that terrible
- 1:12:23or so, I don't know they could. That is a fantastic idea.
- 1:12:27That's a great idea. I love it. All right. Well cool,
- 1:12:35Well I guess that's wrapping it up. Thanks everyone for joining us. Are
- 1:12:40we going to be back next week or are we going to take another week
- 1:12:42off? I'm down to be back next week. You know, what do
- 1:12:47we what do we have to cover? Oh? You know what? Next
- 1:12:50week's thanks Giving though, Yeah, next week is Thanksgivings. So I think
- 1:12:56let's take it off and then we'll come back. Okay, we'll do that.
- 1:13:00Okay, we'll figure out we'll figure out sch cool and we'll summary,
- 1:13:08we'll work the we'll work the word butt crack into the episode. Daniel,
- 1:13:17do you want me to put out the rest of the some other that other
- 1:13:20stuff from Comic Con. I got some other videos and some we'll talk about
- 1:13:25it. Off, off, off the show, Off the show. Okay,
- 1:13:29secret stuff, that's right, that's right. Okay, Well, thanks
- 1:13:32everybody for listening. We'll see you later. Al Right, guys, go
- 1:13:36bye. This is Captain Benjamin Cisco of Deep Space nine and Space God to
