Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN. It's 4.05
- 0:07Speaker 1: in the afternoon.
- 0:07Speaker 2: It's Wednesday, August 12th, 76 degrees. Ron Verb from the
- 0:11Speaker 2: Kingdom of Mahoning. And to the conservatives, just worried. He's saying, Republicans,
- 0:17Speaker 2: you've got to get activated. You've got to be motivated.
- 0:20Speaker 2: You've got to get out and support your team. Otherwise,
- 0:24Speaker 2: these crazies with the Democrats are going to get a hold.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You could have Amy Acton as..
- 0:28Speaker 3: Don't worry about your feelings. You know, facts don't care
- 0:31Speaker 3: about your feelings, right?
- 0:33Speaker 2: You could have Sherrod Brown as your senator and Amy
- 0:36Speaker 2: Acton as your governor. My God.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you can have Sherrod Brown, Amy Acton. What's that
- 0:41Speaker 3: McNally woman's name? You know, I'm dead serious, Ron. I'm
- 0:45Speaker 3: a little bit fired up today. You know, Amy Acton,
- 0:49Speaker 3: if you think... This state of Ohio would not take
- 0:54Speaker 3: 10 steps backwards.
- 0:55Speaker 4: You're crazy. We may not like DeWine. I'm not a
- 0:57Speaker 4: big fan.
- 0:58Speaker 3: We call him a rhino. But guess what?
- 0:59Speaker 4: He's not a Democrat, is he?
- 1:01Speaker 3: Even though he's a rhino, he's not giving us exactly
- 1:05Speaker 3: what Amy Acton would give us. May not like the
- 1:08Speaker 3: big HB1 visa stand, but guess what? It's going to
- 1:10Speaker 3: be a hell of a lot worse with Amy Acton
- 1:13Speaker 3: at the county level. I told you there was a
- 1:14Speaker 3: meeting tonight for Christine Oliver out in the Middletown 6th
- 1:17Speaker 3: to 8th Fire Department. I'm going to be there. I
- 1:19Speaker 3: think I can help them.
- 1:21Speaker 4: When?
- 1:22Speaker 3: You've got one candidate who thinks she knows how to
- 1:25Speaker 3: best spend your money. She went crazy when the county
- 1:29Speaker 3: commissioners gave a little bit of that money back to
- 1:31Speaker 3: the taxpayers. She wants all your money, McNally, all of it.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And Christina Oliver is out here trying to save your
- 1:38Speaker 3: money for you. So, you know, all politics are local.
- 1:41Speaker 3: If you don't get involved with your school boards, your
- 1:43Speaker 3: city government, your county government, guess what? Then don't complain.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Unless you're going to put your feet in the fire,
- 1:52Speaker 3: just sit back, cry about the war, cry about the
- 1:54Speaker 3: spilled milk, you know, watch your programs at night time
- 1:59Speaker 3: and live life. But if you want to make a change,
- 2:02Speaker 3: you've got to get involved. And don't get comfortable. I'm
- 2:06Speaker 3: just scared. I'm scared of where I see us going,
- 2:09Speaker 3: to be honest with you. It's a lazy Republican Party
- 2:12Speaker 3: right now who is not motivated to go to the polls.
- 2:15Speaker 3: All they're doing is crying about spilled milk or their
- 2:18Speaker 3: Internet went out today or whatever.
- 2:20Speaker 4: You know, I'm just worried.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I think we need to shake up our base.
- 2:25Speaker 4: And it's about a third.
- 2:28Speaker 3: All that is, is it makes it easier for the
- 2:30Speaker 3: Democrats to win. They are the enemy of the state.
- 2:35Speaker 3: And if we don't get focused quickly, we're going to
- 2:37Speaker 3: be in big trouble. Because what we're looking at in
- 2:40Speaker 3: the rearview mirror, I told you, we're not going to
- 2:42Speaker 3: see that train coming down the track.
- 2:44Speaker 4: You're going to have.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Kind of government that wants more of your dollars. You're
- 2:47Speaker 3: going to have a state government that's going to become
- 2:49Speaker 3: a global government. You know, forget about the HB-1 visas.
- 2:54Speaker 3: They're going to put every card before your own. And
- 2:58Speaker 3: they'll want more of the tax dollars. And it's going
- 3:01Speaker 3: to filter up to the federal government. I mean, we
- 3:04Speaker 3: don't have much going on for us right now, but
- 3:06Speaker 3: at least the Democrats aren't in office. And if you
- 3:09Speaker 3: think it's bad now, just sit back and watch what
- 3:11Speaker 3: happens when they come back in. Because Voters are dumb
- 3:16Speaker 3: and they have a short memory. Just think back to
- 3:18Speaker 3: four years ago, what would happen? 9% inflation. They said,
- 3:23Speaker 3: when they tell us it's transitory, don't worry about it, right?
- 3:26Speaker 4: No big deal. No big deal.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Well, here we are now. Fast forward four years, we're
- 3:30Speaker 3: all bitching and screaming like it's Donald Trump's fault. I mean,
- 3:35Speaker 3: we need to wake up, people.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Wake up.
- 3:39Speaker 6: All right.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Get back to mowing the lawn.
- 4:06Speaker 4: All right.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I know.
- 4:07Speaker 7: I know.
- 4:08Speaker 3: And I've got to get you focused, too, because you're drifting, too.
- 4:10Speaker 3: You're crying over too much milk.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I've got plenty of milk.
- 4:12Speaker 3: You can afford to buy a lot of milk. You
- 4:15Speaker 3: just keep buying that Milo's tea and that milk and
- 4:17Speaker 3: don't worry about what you spill.
- 4:19Speaker 2: See you later. It's Ted the Conservative. You're on the air. Hello.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Hi there.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 4:26Speaker 4: I enjoy the show. Yesterday was scary as a dickens.
- 4:30Speaker 4: I understand that. That kind of wow. That kind of
- 4:34Speaker 4: mentality is no good. No damn good. But here I'm
- 4:38Speaker 4: going to ask you a question.
- 4:39Speaker 2: You mean the people that want to nuke Iran?
- 4:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just that makes no damn sense at all. That's,
- 4:47Speaker 4: I don't know what religion they came from. But anyhow,
- 4:52Speaker 4: let's say you and your wife decide we're going to
- 4:54Speaker 4: put in an apple tree. Then we're going to put
- 4:58Speaker 4: in a pear tree. So you go ahead and you
- 5:01Speaker 4: set it up. You paid a man partly or you
- 5:04Speaker 4: paid a man fully. And he turns around, and he
- 5:07Speaker 4: goes out and digs the holes. Five days later, where
- 5:12Speaker 4: are my trees? Oh, somebody on the other side of
- 5:15Speaker 4: town paid us twice that much not for you to
- 5:18Speaker 4: have your trees put in the ground. The analogy is
- 5:24Speaker 4: that money was spent for them windmills for solar power.
- 5:28Speaker 4: And he walked in, put the country more in debt
- 5:30Speaker 4: by $ 20 million to stop them from deteriorating. I'll give
- 5:34Speaker 4: you $ 20 million. Don't put them up. Do you understand
- 5:41Speaker 4: which way I'm going?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yes. So you're saying, well, weren't those subsidized in part
- 5:50Speaker 2: by the federal government?
- 5:53Speaker 4: Right. All he had to do was cut the subsidy off.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I mean, as I remember, you're going back several years.
- 6:00Speaker 2: As I remember, there was concern, he had some environmental
- 6:04Speaker 2: concerns over the windmills in the ocean and what effect
- 6:08Speaker 2: that had on, was it fish and, let me just
- 6:14Speaker 2: say wildlife, and what a gigantic waste of money it
- 6:18Speaker 2: happened to be.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Well, as far as a gigantic waste of money, how's
- 6:22Speaker 4: your electric bill doing?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Well, but see, I would say..
- 6:26Speaker 4: The more electric power we can kick out there for
- 6:28Speaker 4: the United States, the better off we're going to be.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Well, I agree with that.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Take a look at the state of Texas. The second
- 6:34Speaker 4: highest or the first highest state, not the second because
- 6:37Speaker 4: California's first, who have solar energy and windmill energy in
- 6:44Speaker 4: their state. In their state, they're the second highest makers
- 6:49Speaker 4: of wind and solar power. Now, why aren't they quitting it? Oh,
- 6:57Speaker 4: we don't need that because Trump said we don't need it.
- 7:02Speaker 4: My other thing is, now, this is kind of picky
- 7:06Speaker 4: because I don't understand it. It makes no sense to me.
- 7:11Speaker 4: I watch that inspirational channel. It's got the westerns on
- 7:17Speaker 4: and stuff like that. And through the course of the evening,
- 7:21Speaker 4: I keep seeing these commercials. about the Jewish people in
- 7:27Speaker 4: Ukraine are hurting, hurting bad. Well, why doesn't the Jewish
- 7:38Speaker 4: group pick them people up, take them out of that country,
- 7:44Speaker 4: and move them back to Israel where it would be
- 7:46Speaker 4: cheaper to have them instead of what we're doing now?
- 7:51Speaker 4: But what about the other people that aren't Jewish It
- 7:54Speaker 4: only talks about taking care of the Jewish people. I
- 8:00Speaker 4: got nothing against the Jews, but I just don't understand
- 8:02Speaker 4: why they have to be so segregated, is the term.
- 8:08Speaker 4: And Ted, the conservative, and them other people that call
- 8:11Speaker 4: you up, I listen to them. And I have to
- 8:15Speaker 4: ask myself, as a point of discussion, not debate or argument,
- 8:21Speaker 4: seemingly ever since Reagan... Our debt has continuously gone up.
- 8:29Speaker 4: This thing about tax breaks, people who can afford to pay,
- 8:36Speaker 4: companies who can afford to pay, and yet we're going
- 8:39Speaker 4: to give them huge tax breaks, and it hasn't even
- 8:44Speaker 4: begun to lower the prices of the commodity in the
- 8:47Speaker 4: United States. My point is, is we're going to keep
- 8:51Speaker 4: on buying it, and they know it. So they keep
- 8:54Speaker 4: raising their prices. And every year, every year since Reagan,
- 8:59Speaker 4: they have made millions, and now they're talking billions of
- 9:02Speaker 4: dollars in profit. I don't understand. I mean, he's going
- 9:07Speaker 4: to say Republicans are going to turn us to a
- 9:08Speaker 4: socialistic country? They throw the communist socialistic country. The United
- 9:15Speaker 4: States has always been a socialist country by helping people
- 9:21Speaker 4: out who are in need. And yet, I don't understand
- 9:26Speaker 4: why these people want to just blindly, as if they
- 9:30Speaker 4: have blinders on their eyes, and they can't seem to think, well, maybe, maybe, no, no, no, no, no.
- 9:38Speaker 4: And I've met Democrats in the same way. I've never
- 9:41Speaker 4: understood that. If the person don't work, get them out
- 9:45Speaker 4: of there. And if that person don't work, get them
- 9:49Speaker 4: out of there. That's how the American people can take
- 9:53Speaker 4: back their government and start control of it. I think
- 9:59Speaker 4: I'm done now. Like I said, I don't... Fine. I
- 10:07Speaker 4: love you. At least you're willing to stand up and
- 10:11Speaker 4: say something that you firmly believe in. But if I
- 10:15Speaker 4: were to see him face-to-face, I would ask him those questions.
- 10:20Speaker 4: What are the tax breaks really doing for the people
- 10:22Speaker 4: of the United States? All these states that have Medicaid
- 10:26Speaker 4: and Medicare going on, and now they're getting rid of
- 10:29Speaker 4: that Part 5 for getting medication for people who are
- 10:33Speaker 4: on Medicare? These people now in the rural districts that
- 10:38Speaker 4: have to go miles to see a doctor? These people
- 10:43Speaker 4: that are in an emergency and you can't get to
- 10:46Speaker 4: a hospital in time to help them because they took
- 10:49Speaker 4: that money away. And then this thing about voting, I
- 10:55Speaker 4: don't think there's like, what, what was it, 11 or
- 10:58Speaker 4: 13 states that just, they could tighten it up. Some
- 11:03Speaker 4: of them could tighten it up quite a bit. But
- 11:06Speaker 4: the fact of the matter is, now there's little hoops
- 11:09Speaker 4: that you may have to jump through just to vote.
- 11:13Speaker 4: And granted, all I've got to do is have this ID. Well,
- 11:16Speaker 4: then the next thing, they're going to want this ID.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Then the next thing, they're going to want that ID.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Take a look at the state of Ohio. Take a
- 11:26Speaker 4: look at other states throughout the United States, where when
- 11:28Speaker 4: they get done checking out the polls and the voting
- 11:31Speaker 4: at the end of it, it may take a couple years,
- 11:35Speaker 4: and they'll come back with hardly nothing at all that's
- 11:37Speaker 4: going to make it or break it when it was
- 11:40Speaker 4: finally done. I'm done now.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Are you done? You said that two minutes ago that
- 11:50Speaker 2: you were done.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I was only setting 90 seconds.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Okay. Are you done now? Are you sure you're done now?
- 11:58Speaker 4: Oh, let me think about that. No, I don't want
- 12:01Speaker 4: to think anymore. I'll get a headache, and then I've
- 12:02Speaker 4: got to go have Asperger's.
- 12:03Speaker 2: All right. Thanks. See you later. All right. He's done now.
- 12:08Speaker 2: You're on the air. Hello?
- 12:12Speaker 8: Is that me?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yes, sir. It's you. Speak your piece, please.
- 12:16Speaker 8: Okay, real fast. I was in Austin town yesterday. Gas was...
- 12:21Speaker 8: Over $ 4 a gallon. Today, I went to Struthers. I
- 12:26Speaker 8: got gas for $ 3.
- 12:26Speaker 5: 69.
- 12:26Speaker 4: $ 3.
- 12:26Speaker 9: 69?
- 12:26Speaker 1: $ 3.
- 12:26Speaker 5: 69.
- 12:27Speaker 8: They're always the cheapest on 616 and Lyons Boulevard. I
- 12:32Speaker 8: just want to tell you that. That's all.
- 12:33Speaker 9: $ 3.
- 12:33Speaker 2: 69.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Okay.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Okay.
- 12:46Speaker 2: All right, let's see. Somebody sent me, gas price at
- 12:49Speaker 2: Sam's Club was $ 3. 61 and nine-tenths. Somebody sent me that.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It doesn't say which Sam's Club, if it was Boardman
- 12:56Speaker 2: or Niles. Yeah. But my shell station is, what, 440,
- 13:01Speaker 2: right there in the corner.
- 13:02Speaker 8: Yeah, I was in Austin town yesterday.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I mean, I'm seeing it at 429 and 440 at
- 13:09Speaker 2: a number of places.
- 13:11Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah. So I always go down there to Struthers.
- 13:15Speaker 8: I live pretty close anyhow. But they're always the cheapest
- 13:19Speaker 8: down there. They're always the cheapest. No matter where you go,
- 13:23Speaker 8: they're the cheapest.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Well, if you say so.
- 13:27Speaker 8: Okay.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 13:28Speaker 4: That's all.
- 13:29Speaker 2: All right. You're on the air. Hello.
- 13:33Speaker 9: This is the greatest threat to the country, Colleen?
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yes, yes, this is it right here. It's Fort Lauderdale, Frank,
- 13:41Speaker 2: the single greatest threat. Well, he asked me the question.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I was speculating.
- 13:46Speaker 9: Well, you know, I was not intending on calling today,
- 13:49Speaker 9: but the options guy lectured me that I should have
- 13:54Speaker 9: bought call options on SpaceX.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I've got to watch this guy, though. He said... I
- 14:03Speaker 2: got them up on my screen. I haven't watched it yet.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It runs, what, an hour, I think. An hour. Let's see.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Ron Barron, B-A-R-O-N, a long-term view with Ron Barron, SpaceX
- 14:14Speaker 2: and the power of conviction. So he says, I guess
- 14:19Speaker 2: this Ron Barron, billionaire investor Ron Barron, and he seems
- 14:23Speaker 2: like he's real positive on SpaceX for the long term.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So I want to hear what he has to say.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I mean, it's just like if you remember, well, you
- 14:31Speaker 2: were around Amazon. What if you were on Amazon early on? Remember,
- 14:36Speaker 2: Amazon wasn't making lots of money for years. They weren't
- 14:39Speaker 2: a profitable company. But what if you would have bought
- 14:41Speaker 2: Amazon or Tesla in the beginning? And there was a
- 14:45Speaker 2: lot of stocks. I am really good, Fort Lauderdale Frank,
- 14:49Speaker 2: at picking stocks in hindsight. I have this great ability
- 14:52Speaker 2: of doing it in hindsight. I often say, I should
- 14:56Speaker 2: have bought that. Ten years ago. I should have bought
- 14:59Speaker 2: that five years ago. I'm pretty good at that.
- 15:02Speaker 9: Well, you are pretty good, and I can't say what
- 15:06Speaker 9: specific investments that I buy, own, or sell.
- 15:11Speaker 2: But since Tesla went from like $ 25, 000 if you had
- 15:12Speaker 2: invested to over $ 2.
- 15:13Speaker 9: 5 million, they never made a penny of profits. So
- 15:25Speaker 9: I'm thinking the same thing with SpaceX. They may not
- 15:28Speaker 9: make any profit for years and years, if ever, but
- 15:33Speaker 9: you could still probably make a lot of money on SpaceX.
- 15:37Speaker 9: But I want to say that, you know, the options
- 15:40Speaker 9: guy lectured me that I should have bought call options
- 15:43Speaker 9: on SpaceX, but I didn't because when I went to
- 15:46Speaker 9: place the order early in the day, it was already
- 15:49Speaker 9: up 30%. And then it crashed. So I told people
- 15:54Speaker 9: if they had listened to him, they would have lost
- 15:58Speaker 9: a lot of money on paper. Now options guys said
- 16:01Speaker 9: he originally bought options that make a lot of money
- 16:04Speaker 9: as SpaceX goes down. So he changed his story once again. Well,
- 16:10Speaker 9: I don't know what to believe with this guy.
- 16:12Speaker 4: He claims..
- 16:13Speaker 9: He's made billions of dollars.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Believe me when I tell you. Believe me. He has.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I mean, do not question. He has done extremely well.
- 16:26Speaker 2: And we're not here to talk about individuals.
- 16:28Speaker 9: Well, did he inherit it?
- 16:29Speaker 7: No.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Or are these all short-term?
- 16:31Speaker 8: No.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Trades run.
- 16:32Speaker 2: No, he did it through the stock market and everything.
- 16:37Speaker 2: And certain companies. And I don't want to get into
- 16:41Speaker 2: his specifics. Stand by. No more than I want to
- 16:43Speaker 2: get into yours. But stand by. News Radio 570 WKBN
- 16:46Speaker 2: and Ron Furb. I'll come back with more at 422
- 16:48Speaker 2: in the afternoon.

- 17:38Speaker 11: I'm not great with words after a fight, and I'm
- 17:40Speaker 11: sorry wasn't cutting it this time. So I used Smile

- 17:53Speaker 2: Give your home an energy upgrade. 570 WKBN. All right,
- 17:58Speaker 2: but anyway.
- 17:58Speaker 9: Hey, Ron, I would recommend Options Guy to call John
- 18:03Speaker 9: Arnold or Rockport because... I save a ton of money
- 18:09Speaker 9: in taxes, and I'm going to give.
- 18:12Speaker 4: You a clue.
- 18:12Speaker 9: The way to do it is you're going to find
- 18:17Speaker 9: this hard to believe. Keep your net worth as close
- 18:21Speaker 9: to zero as possible.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. That's not a bad idea. I don't
- 18:29Speaker 2: like to get into talking about money and stocks and
- 18:31Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff.
- 18:32Speaker 9: Well, by the way, inflation was up last month. This
- 18:37Speaker 9: came in for July.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yeah, 3.4, 3.5, right? Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 9: And also, good news for stock investors. We're starting to
- 18:47Speaker 9: see a broad-based rally. It's not just AI stocks going up.
- 18:53Speaker 9: It's all across the board. And according to technical analysis,
- 18:58Speaker 9: when you have a broad-based recovery, that's good news for
- 19:02Speaker 9: the stock market over the next one.
- 19:05Speaker 4: To three years.
- 19:08Speaker 9: Well, I know you got money in the stock market, right?
- 19:12Speaker 9: Your 401k?
- 19:13Speaker 2: I'm sure I do. I'm sure I do.
- 19:17Speaker 9: You may not want to cash out just yet.
- 19:20Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, not at all. But,
- 19:22Speaker 2: I mean, listen, there are a lot of smart people,
- 19:24Speaker 2: and I don't want to get into specifics, but I
- 19:28Speaker 2: can assure you that the gentleman you're referring to has
- 19:30Speaker 2: made millions of dollars doing it. And make no mistake.
- 19:34Speaker 2: And I'm sure you're doing well. I don't dwell on
- 19:37Speaker 2: it as far as you guys talking about it because
- 19:39Speaker 2: you don't understand when I say this. You guys are
- 19:42Speaker 2: at another level talking this stuff that most people don't understand.
- 19:45Speaker 2: So you kind of blur out on it. But you
- 19:50Speaker 2: should really understand some of this stuff. I mean, I
- 19:54Speaker 2: sit here and would say just in general, any person
- 19:58Speaker 2: that's out there today should have a Roth IRA. I mean,
- 20:01Speaker 2: if you don't know what a Roth IRA is, if
- 20:03Speaker 2: you're 20, 30, 40, whatever years old, and you don't
- 20:07Speaker 2: put money into a Roth IRA every year, you're making
- 20:10Speaker 2: a serious mistake. Because in a Roth IRA, there are
- 20:13Speaker 2: no required minimum distributions when you hit 73. And the
- 20:17Speaker 2: money you put into a Roth IRA is taxable going in.
- 20:20Speaker 2: But all of its growth and earnings are non-taxable coming out.
- 20:25Speaker 2: So think about that. Think about the power of compounding
- 20:27Speaker 2: something over 20, 30, 40 years, and there's no taxes
- 20:32Speaker 2: on it coming out. That is a hell of an
- 20:35Speaker 2: opportunity for people. Didn't exist when I was a young
- 20:38Speaker 2: guy or when you were a young guy, but it
- 20:40Speaker 2: exists today, and people should take advantage of it. That
- 20:43Speaker 2: would be my one tip to anybody listening, really, is
- 20:50Speaker 2: the Roths are an excellent way to Prepare for your future.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Time goes by quickly as you grow older. But my
- 20:58Speaker 2: problem is many people don't want to set money aside.
- 21:00Speaker 2: You've got to say no to yourself and say, I'm
- 21:02Speaker 2: willing to put in a couple thousand. I think you'd
- 21:04Speaker 2: put in up to $ 7, 000 a year. But you should
- 21:06Speaker 2: put in as much as you can every year, diligently.
- 21:10Speaker 9: But the problem is people are hurting so bad, they're
- 21:14Speaker 9: withdrawing money from their IRAs and 401Ks. at record rates.
- 21:21Speaker 2: To make ends meet.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Yep.
- 21:22Speaker 2: You are 100% correct on that. But I would ask
- 21:27Speaker 2: you this, though. I totally agree with that, incidentally. But
- 21:31Speaker 2: sometimes I also think a lot of my peers are
- 21:35Speaker 2: unable to say no to themselves. And since my dad
- 21:40Speaker 2: always said you've got to live as far below your
- 21:42Speaker 2: means as is possible. You should buy a comfortable home,
- 21:46Speaker 2: but you don't need a mansion or that type of
- 21:48Speaker 2: wasted money. I mean, I just think a lot of
- 21:50Speaker 2: people spend money foolishly, in my opinion. That's my opinion.
- 21:56Speaker 2: They live at their means or beyond their means. And
- 21:59Speaker 2: I'm not saying that if you're restricted on your income
- 22:03Speaker 2: that it can't be difficult to save money. Obviously, it can't.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Inflation's making us all poorer. I don't disagree with that
- 22:09Speaker 2: at all. I don't care what you make.
- 22:11Speaker 9: Well, let me say real quick before I go to
- 22:13Speaker 9: the important topic, but I believe options guy made a
- 22:17Speaker 9: lot of money in stocks, but not options like he claims.
- 22:21Speaker 9: I used to be an options broker, not a stock
- 22:24Speaker 9: options broker or commodity. And most people, if they don't
- 22:29Speaker 9: make a quick profit and quit, and they keep playing options,
- 22:33Speaker 9: all of them end up losing money.
- 22:36Speaker 2: A lot of these guys made millions with NVIDIA and
- 22:40Speaker 2: some of those other... Stocks early on. But I'm going
- 22:42Speaker 2: to watch that video he was telling me about. I'm
- 22:44Speaker 2: going to watch this Ron Barron and see what he
- 22:47Speaker 2: has to say about SpaceX. I just find it intriguing.
- 22:50Speaker 2: That's all. Basically, he was telling me Ron Barron was
- 22:54Speaker 2: saying that he would buy SpaceX and just sit on
- 22:58Speaker 2: it and keep it for a long time. He thinks
- 23:00Speaker 2: it's going to– no one knows for certain, obviously, but
- 23:03Speaker 2: he thinks it will be a good buy long term.
- 23:07Speaker 2: So in your case, you probably wouldn't want to do
- 23:12Speaker 2: that because long-term isn't long-term. Or frankly, in my case, too.
- 23:16Speaker 2: You follow me? I mean, so, but if you were younger,
- 23:19Speaker 2: that's a different story. You don't have, we don't have long-term, Frank.
- 23:25Speaker 4: I know.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Stand by. Stand by. I'll come back and wrap up
- 23:29Speaker 2: with Frank and take more of your calls. 4.30 in
- 23:32Speaker 2: the afternoon, Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoney.
- 23:35Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 23:41Speaker 12: A man who was out on bond after being charged
- 23:43Speaker 12: with rape earlier this year is now being accused of
- 23:46Speaker 12: another sexual assault. Whitehall police say Devon McBroom attacked a
- 23:50Speaker 12: woman at a UDF store on East Main Street early
- 23:53Speaker 12: Tuesday morning. The initial rape charges McBroom picked up in
- 23:58Speaker 12: February are still pending as well. Officers say he is
- 24:02Speaker 12: back in custody. Meantime, a suspect in custody after the
- 24:05Speaker 12: fatal shooting of a man behind a Cleveland auto shop.
- 24:07Speaker 12: 44-year-old Aaron Forster was found shot near East 55th and
- 24:11Speaker 12: Lexington Avenue.
- 24:12Speaker 2: He later died at the hospital.
- 24:14Speaker 12: 28-year-old Matthew Cooperwood has been arrested on a murder charge.
- 24:17Speaker 12: Two people are in custody after a double shooting yesterday
- 24:20Speaker 12: afternoon in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Avondale. The incident happened
- 24:23Speaker 12: near Purdue Street and Forest Avenue, and the victims survived
- 24:26Speaker 12: the shootings and remain in the hospital.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I'm Brady Hopkins.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and sports radio.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Podcasts, too.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Download the app. Free never sounded so good.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 24:46Speaker 2: All right, so make your point, Frank.
- 24:48Speaker 9: All right, Ron, I think you should look into this,
- 24:51Speaker 9: the Republican Senate version of the NDAA. would create a
- 24:56Speaker 9: defense equity investment account allowing up to $ 500 million in
- 25:02Speaker 9: direct corporate investments in batteries, critical minerals, and chemicals. Ron
- 25:08Speaker 9: Paul says this is using government funds to invest in
- 25:12Speaker 9: private companies in exchange for partial government ownership. Ron, I
- 25:17Speaker 9: think this is a greater evil. than Democrat socialists dictating
- 25:22Speaker 9: to private businesses as to what they can do or
- 25:25Speaker 9: not do. Because wrong capital would flow not to companies
- 25:30Speaker 9: that serve their customers best, but to those that please
- 25:34Speaker 9: politicians best.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I would agree. First, I agree with that criticism. I
- 25:38Speaker 2: think both of them, the Democrat socialist and what you're saying,
- 25:42Speaker 2: are both causes for concern. Deeply causes for concern. I
- 25:46Speaker 2: would agree with that. I totally agree with that.
- 25:48Speaker 9: You know, Ron, businesses would be incentivized to seek government
- 25:52Speaker 9: favors over customers by what's going on.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
- 25:56Speaker 9: And you know what? China's Yuan Yifu Gold Exchange Traded
- 26:02Speaker 9: Fund now has a market cap of $ 13 billion, larger
- 26:06Speaker 9: than another fund called Hu Tai Pine Bridge CSI 300.
- 26:12Speaker 9: What that means, Ron, Chinese retail investors... are moving away
- 26:17Speaker 9: from stocks to gold. And gold is going up. I mean,
- 26:23Speaker 9: this war, Ron, is causing inflation, not just in the
- 26:27Speaker 9: United States, but all over the world.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Well, it's going to cause problems with food as well.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I agree. Thank you for allowing me. Go ahead.
- 26:35Speaker 9: Did you hear what Trump announced, what he's going to
- 26:39Speaker 9: do to help the Republicans... get re-elected. He's going to
- 26:45Speaker 9: basically buy votes. Trump is getting, for example, raising ethanol
- 26:52Speaker 9: levels in gas to 15 percent in order to make
- 26:55Speaker 9: farmers heading towards bankruptcy like him a little.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I don't think I want that much ethanol in my gas.
- 27:03Speaker 9: No, it'll destroy your car.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Are you kidding? Yeah, you're right.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I don't want that.
- 27:07Speaker 9: And another $ 12 billion in farmer bailouts to compensate farmers
- 27:11Speaker 9: for Trump's destructive trade wars. And Trump Rx keeps generic
- 27:16Speaker 9: drug prices dirt cheap. But Trump accounts gives $ 1, 000 in
- 27:22Speaker 9: index funds to every newborn child. And Freedom Fuel sells
- 27:27Speaker 9: gas $ 0. 32 cheaper than the national average at government backstations.
- 27:33Speaker 9: And he wants a 10% cap on credit card rates.
- 27:38Speaker 9: So only people like me and you with A1 credit
- 27:41Speaker 9: will get credit cards. And screw everybody else. Ron, he's desperate.
- 27:48Speaker 9: He's trying to buy votes from us. I don't know
- 27:51Speaker 9: if it's going to work.
- 27:53Speaker 2: We shall see. All right.
- 27:55Speaker 9: Yeah, just like the Democrats.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Okay.
- 27:57Speaker 2: You're on the air.
- 27:59Speaker 6: Hey, Port Lauderdale, Frank. So that $ 1, 000 for the newborns,
- 28:05Speaker 6: that was all donated money by the, I don't know, Dell,
- 28:09Speaker 6: the guy who created the Dell computers. So, you know, yesterday,
- 28:15Speaker 6: and I know that that other guy that, I don't know,
- 28:18Speaker 6: Fifth Avenue or whatever his name is.
- 28:20Speaker 8: Yes.
- 28:20Speaker 6: I mean, he called and ranted and said, raged about
- 28:27Speaker 6: that he can't stand listening to the conservatives and he
- 28:32Speaker 6: can't stand listening to this and listening to that.
- 28:34Speaker 2: No, he didn't say he couldn't stand it. He said
- 28:37Speaker 2: he disagreed with it and he explained why he disagreed
- 28:40Speaker 2: with it.
- 28:42Speaker 6: No, he said it made him sick.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:45Speaker 6: And I listen to see there's an awful lot of
- 28:49Speaker 6: just blanket statements talking about lies. I would like to
- 28:54Speaker 6: know Specifically, because nine times out of ten, if you
- 28:59Speaker 6: turn around at an interview and ask them for specific examples,
- 29:03Speaker 6: they can't give them to you. They just do the
- 29:06Speaker 6: blanket thing. I mean, you know, he went to the
- 29:09Speaker 6: no kings rally because he thinks that Trump wants to
- 29:16Speaker 6: be a king. On the same token, Trump is so
- 29:19Speaker 6: infirmed that he doesn't know what he's doing. Here's the thing.
- 29:23Speaker 6: All they do is complain. They don't critically think. It's
- 29:26Speaker 6: just all complaints. And that's all I hear from some
- 29:35Speaker 6: of these old guys. And they really don't have facts
- 29:39Speaker 6: to back.
- 29:40Speaker 7: It up.
- 29:40Speaker 6: It's all about their feelings. So the interesting thing yesterday, whatever,
- 29:46Speaker 6: I saw a Teddy Roosevelt quote. It says, to anger
- 29:51Speaker 6: a conservative, lie to him. To anger a liberal, tell
- 29:56Speaker 6: him the truth. And they're so upset. about what they
- 30:00Speaker 6: hear about Trump or what he's trying to do. Listen,
- 30:06Speaker 6: you know, I understand that this war is probably not
- 30:09Speaker 6: working out, but they also don't like the fact that
- 30:13Speaker 6: the border's closed. They also don't like the fact that
- 30:16Speaker 6: we're deporting all these people. They also don't like a
- 30:19Speaker 6: lot of the good things that Trump did that's benefiting sending,
- 30:25Speaker 6: you know, people into... help clean up these blue cities
- 30:29Speaker 6: and trying to help, you know, Americans and put America first.
- 30:33Speaker 6: They don't like that either. So I, I just get
- 30:39Speaker 6: anxious and anxiety when, when they just start ranting that
- 30:44Speaker 6: I felt like I had to rant myself a little bit.
- 30:48Speaker 2: You should get all worked up.
- 30:51Speaker 6: Well, not, not really. I just, I just, The next
- 30:56Speaker 6: time that people just start blanket asking about or saying
- 31:00Speaker 6: lies or he did this or he did that, I mean,
- 31:03Speaker 6: think about it. The Democrats lied about Trump for months.
- 31:09Speaker 6: And the money, they're so afraid, oh, he spent this
- 31:11Speaker 6: much money. They spent millions and millions of dollars impeaching
- 31:16Speaker 6: him and millions and millions of dollars trying to, you know, buy.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Screw them over with lawsuits. And, I mean, but that
- 31:28Speaker 6: doesn't bother them. That doesn't bother them. So, because my
- 31:33Speaker 6: feeling is, if you ask me, well, you know, what about,
- 31:37Speaker 6: you know, the Biden administration and their lies? Oh, I
- 31:40Speaker 6: could tell you the lies. We could tell you the
- 31:42Speaker 6: lies about him being incapacitated. We could tell you the
- 31:47Speaker 6: lies about Hunter Biden's laptop isn't real. and the 50
- 31:54Speaker 6: people that they got to swear to it that were
- 31:58Speaker 6: all liars. I mean, we could tell you the lies.
- 32:01Speaker 6: And it's just like the quote said, if you want
- 32:04Speaker 6: to anger a conservative, lie to them. Because we don't
- 32:09Speaker 6: mind losing fair and square, but we certainly don't want
- 32:13Speaker 6: to be cheated, and we certainly don't want you to
- 32:16Speaker 6: lie to us. But the liberals can't stand hearing the truth.
- 32:23Speaker 6: I used to listen a long time ago when Biden
- 32:27Speaker 6: was the president. I never heard these guys. I never
- 32:30Speaker 6: heard them call and complain about the inflation. I never
- 32:38Speaker 6: heard them call and complain about, you know, being deceived
- 32:42Speaker 6: by Biden or all those. I mean, they lied. They
- 32:45Speaker 6: said those the videos were deep fakes or cheap fakes
- 32:50Speaker 6: or whatever. And they weren't. They lied to us about COVID.
- 32:55Speaker 6: They lied to us about a lot of things. So
- 32:59Speaker 6: excuses if we're just a little sensitive about being called liars.
- 33:08Speaker 6: And that's kind of all, that's kind of, yeah, it
- 33:12Speaker 6: did get me all kind of riled up there.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I can tell. It's very disturbing to me. It seems
- 33:17Speaker 2: like you're right on the edge. Oh, no. Listen, you
- 33:23Speaker 2: better get right to the liquor cabinet and start drinking.
- 33:26Speaker 6: You know what? That's a great idea. It's perfect weather
- 33:31Speaker 6: for that. I got nowhere to go.
- 33:33Speaker 2: There you go.
- 33:34Speaker 6: Anyhow, I'm just going to sit here and listen to
- 33:36Speaker 6: you for, what, the next hour and 15 minutes and
- 33:41Speaker 6: have a cocktail.
- 33:44Speaker 2: You'll probably be sound asleep in 15 minutes after the cocktail.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Go for me or I will fall asleep. Listen, at
- 33:52Speaker 2: your age..
- 33:53Speaker 6: All I'll need is J.J. the Trumpster to call up.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Isn't it amazing, ever since his electric shock treatments, the
- 34:00Speaker 2: amazing transformation that happens with J.J. the liberalist, now J.J.
- 34:05Speaker 2: the Trumpster. He's Ben Fetterman! Yes, exactly. Yes, I never
- 34:11Speaker 2: thought of that. We've had a Fetterman.
- 34:15Speaker 6: From now on, if they switch over and they start
- 34:20Speaker 6: making sense, I'm just going to say they've been Fetterman'd.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Now, you know, I suspect that J.J. the Liberal deep
- 34:28Speaker 2: down is still J.J. the Liberal, but I think he
- 34:31Speaker 2: might be one of the greatest actors of all time
- 34:33Speaker 2: as J.J. the Trumpster. I'm suspicious of it. I'm letting
- 34:39Speaker 2: it go, and I'm trying to look deep into his
- 34:42Speaker 2: soul as he speaks to see if this is just
- 34:44Speaker 2: some type of great acting on his part, if he's
- 34:47Speaker 2: just playing the character of J.J. the Trumpster, or if
- 34:50Speaker 2: he really did have electric shock therapy issues. and has
- 34:53Speaker 2: switched from J.J. the liberal to J.J. the Trumpster. I
- 34:55Speaker 2: will get to the bottom of it.
- 34:56Speaker 6: Well, what he's going to find out is if he's J.J.
- 35:00Speaker 6: the Trumpster, he's going to be a much happier person.
- 35:02Speaker 6: He's not going to be angry.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I think so.
- 35:05Speaker 6: I think so. Everything's not going to bother him.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 35:10Speaker 6: People will like him.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 35:12Speaker 6: And people aren't going to call and complain. And, you know,
- 35:15Speaker 6: deep down, he just really wants to be liked.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Isn't that what we all want deep down?
- 35:21Speaker 6: We just all really want to be like.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Don't we all just want to be accepted for who
- 35:26Speaker 2: we are?
- 35:26Speaker 7: That's right.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Is it such a big deal?
- 35:31Speaker 6: Screaming and hollering and yelling and getting upset.
- 35:35Speaker 8: Can't you just.
- 35:36Speaker 6: Life is so much better as a truck.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Can you just accept some guy wearing a dress and say,
- 35:41Speaker 2: you know, he thinks he's a woman. I'm just going
- 35:45Speaker 2: to accept it. Nothing weird here. Look the other way.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Perfectly normal.
- 35:49Speaker 6: That's right.
- 35:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 35:50Speaker 13: That's right.
- 35:51Speaker 7: Okay.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Thanks. You're on air.
- 35:55Speaker 7: I've been restarted on the drinking already today, so she's
- 35:59Speaker 7: got to catch up with me. So I'm a little
- 36:02Speaker 7: upset again, but people picking on Trump, and so I'm...
- 36:07Speaker 7: I only drank a little bit. I could still have
- 36:11Speaker 7: the bottle left. So I hope she can catch up
- 36:15Speaker 7: with me.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Excuse me, folks. It's J.J. the Trumpster. So, J.J. the Trumpster,
- 36:23Speaker 2: why are you so upset today? What is bothering you today?
- 36:26Speaker 7: Well, I'm coming to celebrate.
- 36:29Speaker 6: I'm celebrating.
- 36:29Speaker 7: So I'm drinking and celebrating.
- 36:32Speaker 2: What are you celebrating?
- 36:33Speaker 6: I got a transfer. I, um..
- 36:36Speaker 7: I'm actually in the doctor's office right now. I don't
- 36:39Speaker 7: know if they'll see me because I'm drinking today, so
- 36:43Speaker 7: they don't know. I still have a couple more treatments
- 36:46Speaker 7: to go.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Oh, you mean the shock?
- 36:48Speaker 7: I'm happy because I'm getting my next..
- 36:51Speaker 2: Shock therapy?
- 36:51Speaker 3: My next..
- 36:55Speaker 7: What are those called?
- 36:56Speaker 2: Shock therapy. Electric shock therapy.
- 36:58Speaker 7: Yeah, therapy. Yeah, that's what you said. I kept that today.
- 37:02Speaker 7: So I just.
- 37:02Speaker 6: Wanted to call you.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Now, do they hold them like, you know, it's almost
- 37:07Speaker 2: like the paddles that they do on your heart. They
- 37:09Speaker 2: hold it right on your temple, right? And then they
- 37:11Speaker 2: give you that shock therapy or whatever before.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:15Speaker 13: Yeah, and then they drop me down.
- 37:17Speaker 7: They drop me down and... Give me a piece of
- 37:21Speaker 7: wood to put in my mouth so I don't swallow
- 37:23Speaker 7: my tongue. That makes it a little bit easier. So
- 37:26Speaker 7: I've just got to make sure that they turn me
- 37:28Speaker 7: on my side so I don't throw up. I don't
- 37:32Speaker 7: really drink too much, but me and my friend Jack
- 37:36Speaker 7: and Jim Beam are hanging out. I'm actually happy today.
- 37:45Speaker 2: It's very interesting, J.J. the Liberal getting shock therapy to
- 37:51Speaker 2: become J.J. the Trumpster. But you're getting treatment so you
- 37:55Speaker 2: don't fall back into being J.J. the Liberal then, right? Now,
- 38:00Speaker 2: the other day, the other day when you called, you
- 38:03Speaker 2: were quite upset when people were critical of Trump in
- 38:06Speaker 2: the war effort. And basically you said to the people,
- 38:10Speaker 2: as J.J., the Trumpster, you said to the people, come on, folks,
- 38:13Speaker 2: get on board with the war train, right?
- 38:18Speaker 7: I help on the Trump train. It's because they go
- 38:22Speaker 7: up on with me, and we'll just.
- 38:24Speaker 13: Go, we'll all go down. On November, we'll all vote together.
- 38:29Speaker 13: I'll make sure I pick everybody up, and we'll all
- 38:33Speaker 13: go down there and vote together. So that sounds, maybe
- 38:36Speaker 13: I can even get... Before you.
- 38:38Speaker 7: Go in, I know it's your appointment time for more
- 38:41Speaker 7: electric shock therapy.
- 38:42Speaker 3: But as I understand it, just from.
- 38:43Speaker 7: What I've heard, they also want to do a prostate exam.
- 38:46Speaker 13: So be careful.
- 38:59Speaker 4: Woo!
- 38:59Speaker 13: That'll be a good one.
- 39:00Speaker 3: They'll buy me dinner first.
- 39:01Speaker 7: And that'll be okay.
- 39:02Speaker 6: They'll buy me dinner.
- 39:04Speaker 7: And they can book and provide me anywhere they want to. Oh,
- 39:07Speaker 7: he won't feel it.
- 39:07Speaker 2: There you go.
- 39:08Speaker 13: I'm coming. I'm coming up.
- 39:10Speaker 7: All right, take care, John.
- 39:11Speaker 2: All right, it's J.J. the, no, I'm sorry, it's J.J.
- 39:15Speaker 2: the Trumpster at his doctor's office getting his shock therapy,
- 39:19Speaker 2: that follow-up shock therapy, and a prostate exam at the
- 39:23Speaker 2: same time. You're on the air. Yeah, this is.
- 39:27Speaker 14: Rhett and Butler.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Rhett, yes.
- 39:31Speaker 14: I had the call just to set the record straight
- 39:33Speaker 14: on something Frank said in relation to the option fellow.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 39:38Speaker 14: The option fellow, he writes options.
- 39:41Speaker 4: I'm not going to get it.
- 39:42Speaker 14: I know you don't want to get into the exotic stuff.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Of options, but he'll know.
- 39:47Speaker 14: If you talk to him, he'll verify what I'm saying.
- 39:49Speaker 14: He goes... He sells options, sells puts at a certain price.
- 39:53Speaker 14: And if it drops below that price, he's forced to
- 39:56Speaker 14: buy it. It's called an exercise. So he was exercised
- 39:59Speaker 14: on his SpaceX stock. He did never. And then once
- 40:03Speaker 14: he owned the stock, that means he's forced by his
- 40:05Speaker 14: broker to buy the stock. So he owns the stock.
- 40:08Speaker 14: Once he owns the stock, he could sell call options
- 40:12Speaker 14: in which he receives a premium for that. So all
- 40:15Speaker 14: of these selling a put or selling a call creates
- 40:18Speaker 14: income for him. This options fellow, he will verify this.
- 40:22Speaker 14: He would never buy a call, as Frank insinuated. I
- 40:28Speaker 14: love Frank. Don't get me wrong on that. But the
- 40:31Speaker 14: options fellow, please just verify. I know you don't want
- 40:33Speaker 14: to get into that kind of thing.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Right, because I won't even debate it. The guy that
- 40:37Speaker 2: he's referring to, that Frank's referring to, is a savvy,
- 40:41Speaker 2: smart investor, and I will defend him. to anybody out there.
- 40:46Speaker 2: I mean, not only do I think he's a great investor,
- 40:51Speaker 2: I just think he's overall a decent human being and
- 40:53Speaker 2: a good guy. I mean, I enjoy his opinions on,
- 40:59Speaker 2: I agree with a lot of his opinions on other
- 41:01Speaker 2: stuff as well, quite frankly.
- 41:03Speaker 4: Sure. Sure.
- 41:04Speaker 14: I mean, at one time I was licensed to sell
- 41:07Speaker 14: all this stuff, okay? But I'm just saying, not to
- 41:09Speaker 14: take a lot of time on options, but if you
- 41:11Speaker 14: go to Wikipedia, do a quick read on options, you'll
- 41:13Speaker 14: understand it. The options guy will sell. He's made a
- 41:16Speaker 14: lot of money selling options. He might not agree with this,
- 41:21Speaker 14: but I don't think he would ever buy a call,
- 41:23Speaker 14: as Frank said. Buying a call is like walking into
- 41:26Speaker 14: a casino and playing at the tables. Selling calls and
- 41:30Speaker 14: puts is like being the casino, being the house, right?
- 41:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:34Speaker 14: Okay, the smart money sells. If you have the stock,
- 41:38Speaker 14: you can sell the calls. If you think you might
- 41:41Speaker 14: want to buy the stock, you.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Can sell the puts.
- 41:43Speaker 14: If it goes below or above your price, respectively, you're
- 41:46Speaker 14: forced to buy or sell the stock. And you have
- 41:49Speaker 14: to cover, if you're going to buy it, as in
- 41:51Speaker 14: selling a put, you have to have cash to secure that.
- 41:54Speaker 14: So if you're going to buy $ 20, 000 worth of stock,
- 41:57Speaker 14: you write a put for that stock. You've got to
- 41:59Speaker 14: have the $ 20, 000 in the account ready to buy that stock,
- 42:03Speaker 14: which the options guy does. I just, my main point,
- 42:07Speaker 14: I had to call to set the record straight on that.
- 42:10Speaker 14: You know, I admire what you do with the... defending
- 42:14Speaker 14: the regular folks and all of their financial situations and
- 42:18Speaker 14: various things.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Stand by, stand by. Just hang on one second. I'll
- 42:21Speaker 2: let you finish right after this. All right, let me
- 42:32Speaker 2: let you finish up with what you were saying.
- 42:36Speaker 14: Yeah, as I said, I really admire your going to
- 42:38Speaker 14: bat for the little guy, so to speak, okay? But
- 42:41Speaker 14: this is like a public service kind of a thing.
- 42:44Speaker 14: I just wanted, so the securities industry used to be
- 42:47Speaker 14: governed by the NASD, National Association of Security Dealers. Now
- 42:52Speaker 14: it's under an organization called FINRA, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, right, FINRA?
- 42:58Speaker 8: Yes.
- 42:59Speaker 14: So if you are looking to invest your 401k or
- 43:02Speaker 14: looking to do business with somebody with investments of all kinds,
- 43:06Speaker 14: that'd be funds, stocks, whatever, ETFs, You go to FINRA's website,
- 43:11Speaker 14: and you go to the broker check section. It's right
- 43:13Speaker 14: at the top. So what you'll do is you put
- 43:16Speaker 14: in the name of the person that you deal with,
- 43:18Speaker 14: or you put in the person that you're prospectively going
- 43:22Speaker 14: to deal with, and it'll come right up with a
- 43:24Speaker 14: list of the firms that they were with over the
- 43:27Speaker 14: many years that they were licensed, and it'll come up
- 43:29Speaker 14: with customer disclosures or customer disputes. They're all listed. Now,
- 43:35Speaker 14: most brokers or investment advisors, 80% of them have zero
- 43:39Speaker 14: customer disputes, right? In many cases, there were fines, sometimes
- 43:45Speaker 14: substantial fines for people who've misled customers, done unauthorized trading,
- 43:50Speaker 14: things like that. So if there's anybody who's dealing as
- 43:53Speaker 14: an investment advisor or a broker, you go to FINRA,
- 43:56Speaker 14: go to broker check, put their name in, and you
- 43:59Speaker 14: will see everything that they've done. If they've been to
- 44:02Speaker 14: like eight or 10 firms, that's usually a problem, okay?
- 44:06Speaker 14: if they've got five, six, eight, ten customer disputes or
- 44:10Speaker 14: actions under them, especially ones where they've been fined or
- 44:13Speaker 14: they've been fired or they've been asked to leave a firm,
- 44:17Speaker 14: that's a problem. I would think you wouldn't want to
- 44:19Speaker 14: deal with that person. Secondly, of all of the vehicles
- 44:26Speaker 14: out there, you've got mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, ETFs, managed accounts,
- 44:31Speaker 14: et cetera. Those are all regulated by the SEC under
- 44:35Speaker 14: the Know Your Customer Rule 1933 Securities Exchange Act. The
- 44:42Speaker 14: broker or investment advisor is required to know the customer's
- 44:45Speaker 14: situation completely and fulfill all the disclosure requirements. A hedge fund,
- 44:51Speaker 14: unless it's particularly if it's under $ 150 million, is largely unregulated.
- 44:58Speaker 14: It's a completely different category than a broker or an
- 45:01Speaker 14: investment advisor. somebody who's running a hedge fund does not
- 45:06Speaker 14: have to fall under FINRA, particularly if it's under $ 150 million. And, look,
- 45:13Speaker 14: I just wanted to say I really enjoy your show.
- 45:15Speaker 14: And I know you and I are about the same age. And, honestly,
- 45:20Speaker 14: the local radio has got a lot of value, and
- 45:22Speaker 14: I'd be sorry if.
- 45:24Speaker 4: It goes away.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Well, it will in time. Unfortunately, that's the direction it
- 45:27Speaker 2: seems these large companies are going. But it's here for now.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I appreciate your time, and I thank you a great
- 45:33Speaker 2: deal for your call.
- 45:34Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 45:35Speaker 4: Thank you, Ron.
- 45:35Speaker 2: You got it. NewsRadio 570 WKBN and Ron Verb. We'll
