- 2:07Speaker 3: Shelby more capitals. Senator, good morning, welcome to the show.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Good morning to you, and happy Veterans Day, and thank you.
- 2:15Speaker 5: As a grateful citizen of a great country. I thank
- 2:18Speaker 5: all the veterans for their service absolutely.
- 2:21Speaker 3: And your father, of course almost almost gave the ultimate
- 2:25Speaker 3: sacrifice for his country, as did so many other people.
- 2:29Speaker 4: He did.
- 2:30Speaker 5: He's the greatest generation, you know. He left Mountsville, West Virginia,
- 2:33Speaker 5: and got on a ship and deployed to Europe to
- 2:37Speaker 5: really save democracy and freedom. And he was shot on
- 2:42Speaker 5: November the twentieth, interestingly enough, which is my wedding anniversary.
- 2:45Speaker 5: He was shot in the faith and recovered. But let
- 2:48Speaker 5: me tell your listeners something I found interesting. If you
- 2:52Speaker 5: go on to the National Archives site, you can actually
- 2:56Speaker 5: find more veterans records. Sometimes you can't get, you know,
- 3:00Speaker 5: and I got like his dental records and things like that,
- 3:03Speaker 5: which were interesting because he was obviously shot in through
- 3:06Speaker 5: the mouth and everything, things that I'd never seen before,
- 3:09Speaker 5: so I would call my office. We can give you
- 3:11Speaker 5: the links, and maybe I'll put that out today because
- 3:14Speaker 5: I think it's a good way to find out some
- 3:16Speaker 5: other information about our veterans who served long ago.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Senator Kapito, you're getting a new tag team partner in Washington,
- 3:23Speaker 3: and Governor Jim Justice will be taking over the seat
- 3:25Speaker 3: held by for so long Senator Joe Manchin. You're a
- 3:27Speaker 3: good friend. First time. I understand since around the Great
- 3:31Speaker 3: Depression that West Virginia has had an all Republican delegation
- 3:35Speaker 3: in Washington. Is that right?
- 3:37Speaker 5: That is true. We have all of our members of Congress,
- 3:40Speaker 5: Carol Miller and Riley Moore and me and Jim Justice
- 3:43Speaker 5: will all go as a united front, and I'm excited
- 3:47Speaker 5: about that. I talked to the governor just recently in
- 3:50Speaker 5: the last couple of days, told him I'm excited to
- 3:52Speaker 5: see him on Capitol Hill this week. We will be
- 3:54Speaker 5: hitting the ground running. For sure, it'll be a different
- 3:57Speaker 5: look for him, but it's excited to think that we've
- 4:01Speaker 5: got so much in front of us, and I think
- 4:03Speaker 5: so much hope and optimism, So it'll be great to
- 4:07Speaker 5: be serving with all these folks I know very well,
- 4:10Speaker 5: and I want to.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Talk about what your role is going to be in
- 4:13Speaker 3: Washington because with all of these changes. Of course, you
- 4:16Speaker 3: know we're not up for election re election this year,
- 4:19Speaker 3: but you're about to get some more it looks like anyway,
- 4:21Speaker 3: about to get some more responsibilities.
- 4:24Speaker 5: I'm going to have enormous responsibilities, and I embrace this.
- 4:27Speaker 5: I think it's great for the state. I am running
- 4:30Speaker 5: for the number four leadership slot of the Republicans, and
- 4:34Speaker 5: of course we were going to be changing our main
- 4:36Speaker 5: leaders as we move into that vote on Wednesday. But
- 4:40Speaker 5: I'm also going to be chairing the Environment and Public
- 4:43Speaker 5: Works Committee, which is EPA, Fish and Wildlife corp of Engineers,
- 4:47Speaker 5: all the transportation issues. These are really important issues to
- 4:50Speaker 5: West Virginia and to our energy development and permitting and
- 4:54Speaker 5: coal and natural gas. So I'm going to be leading
- 4:56Speaker 5: that committee, and I'm also going to be leading a
- 4:59Speaker 5: subcommit on appropriations, which is health. This is another area
- 5:04Speaker 5: that is it's health, education, and labors. These are important
- 5:08Speaker 5: issues for West Virginia, rural healthcare, rural delivery systems. To
- 5:13Speaker 5: make sure that we're meeting the issues of the drug crisis,
- 5:17Speaker 5: all these funding issues that are extremely important, and just
- 5:21Speaker 5: overall being on the Appropriations Committee, We've got to start
- 5:24Speaker 5: raining our spending in and I'm sure President Trump will
- 5:26Speaker 5: be leading the way on that.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And I want to ask you about the President before
- 5:30Speaker 3: we let you the President elect, before I let you go,
- 5:32Speaker 3: because I know you have a heart out. As we
- 5:34Speaker 3: say in the business, it was not only a Donald
- 5:37Speaker 3: Trump win on Tuesday night, Senator, it was a huge
- 5:40Speaker 3: Donald Trump win.
- 5:42Speaker 5: It was a romp And I think I try to
- 5:46Speaker 5: boil it down in the most simplest terms. I think
- 5:50Speaker 5: going to the grocery store myself, I can see people
- 5:53Speaker 5: when we talk all the time. I think it's when
- 5:56Speaker 5: the people got to the register at the grocery store,
- 5:59Speaker 5: especially those that are struggling and that have young families
- 6:02Speaker 5: that have to feed a lot of people, and they
- 6:04Speaker 5: saw their grocery bill going up and up and up,
- 6:07Speaker 5: and Vice President Harris and President Biden are saying the
- 6:10Speaker 5: economy's great, everything's good. They say to themselves, I need
- 6:14Speaker 5: a change. And she never really presented a good alternative.
- 6:18Speaker 5: And Donald Trump told us everything he was going to do,
- 6:21Speaker 5: bring down inflation, curb illegal immigration, which is another huge issue.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I cannot, for the life of me figure out why
- 6:29Speaker 5: the Biden administration led ten million people, and I kept
- 6:31Speaker 5: carping and carping and carping about it. And so I
- 6:35Speaker 5: think Donald Trump owns this and it's his world now,
- 6:40Speaker 5: and I look forward to supporting his policies and him
- 6:43Speaker 5: and I think it's going to be a very busy
- 6:46Speaker 5: and fast moving administration.
- 6:49Speaker 3: And I realized, you know, on the campaign trail and
- 6:51Speaker 3: even before the campaign started, that Donald Trump made a
- 6:54Speaker 3: lot of promises of things that he wanted to do. Okay,
- 6:57Speaker 3: he got the mandate. It wasn't even close, So it's
- 7:00Speaker 3: time to get to work if we're going to get
- 7:02Speaker 3: these things done.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Well, the good news for him and for us is
- 7:06Speaker 5: in the country that gave him this mandate is we
- 7:09Speaker 5: also got leadership of the Senate, and it appears as
- 7:12Speaker 5: though we're going to keep the majority in the House.
- 7:14Speaker 5: That helps, that helps a president put forward their agenda.
- 7:19Speaker 5: And I hope that the Democrats and the Senate will
- 7:22Speaker 5: join us together on bipartisan issues where we can work together,
- 7:25Speaker 5: because we've got a lot of problems to solve.
- 7:27Speaker 3: All right, Senator Capitau, I know you're out on the road,
- 7:29Speaker 3: and I know you've got a lot of things to do.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to
- 7:32Speaker 3: be here. We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Always great to be on and next time I'll come
- 7:36Speaker 5: back to the studio.
- 7:37Speaker 3: All right, sounds good. You got to come see the
- 7:39Speaker 3: all new digs here. It's all news since you were
- 7:41Speaker 3: here last time. So you got to see the right
- 7:43Speaker 3: and please bring us a fruit basket or something. It's
- 7:46Speaker 3: just you know, it's the thing to do. Okay, it
- 7:48Speaker 3: will do it all right, So you're Sheldy Moore Capito.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Appreciate you being here. It's nine to fifteen. In the
- 7:53Speaker 3: heart of West Virginia, there exist a profound force that
- 7:55Speaker 3: goes beyond the realm of sports, transcending limitations and fostering
- 7:59Speaker 3: the sense of belonging. You talking about Special Olympics are
- 8:01Speaker 3: remarkable initiative showcase in the latest episodes of West Virginia,

- 8:23Speaker 3: do need to pass along a traffic note from you.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I got some information actually from the mayor of Hurricane,
- 8:28Speaker 3: my good friend Scott Edwards, that said, now, this was
- 8:31Speaker 3: as of about forty five minutes or so ago, I
- 8:35Speaker 3: sixty four westbound shut down between Hurricane and Milton due
- 8:38Speaker 3: to a motor vehicle accident involving a semi truck. So
- 8:42Speaker 3: as and again this was as of about forty five
- 8:44Speaker 3: minutes or so ago, all westbound traffic being diverted off
- 8:47Speaker 3: the Hurricane exit and onto Route sixty. Again, that's from
- 8:50Speaker 3: Mayor Edwards. I sixty four westbound is a shutdown, at
- 8:54Speaker 3: least it was. We try to get an update on
- 8:56Speaker 3: that before this show's over. Shut down between Hurricane and
- 8:58Speaker 3: Milton due to a motor view accident involving a semi truck.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Westbound traffic in that area between Hurricane and Milton being
- 9:05Speaker 3: diverted off the Hurricane accident and onto Route sixty. UH
- 9:11Speaker 3: TEXASYS we had two GOP senators in nineteen fifty seven okay,
- 9:16Speaker 3: I appreciate that information. I will I will look into that.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Got some text to get to then a little bit
- 9:22Speaker 3: later on Fred per Singer, the voice of high school
- 9:25Speaker 3: sports and West Virginia is going to join us. We
- 9:26Speaker 3: got quite a mess as it comes to as the playoffs,
- 9:29Speaker 3: the football playoffs that begin this week, but not only
- 9:31Speaker 3: affecting the football playoffs, but also possibly the volleyball. We're
- 9:35Speaker 3: going to talk to Fred about Dappolis, Hollis Lewis, and
- 9:38Speaker 3: kenawh Anty. Commission President Lance Wheeler stopped buy Texas, please sell.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Tell Senator Capitol. West Virginian support Senator Rick Scott for
- 9:45Speaker 3: Senate Majority leader Texas to Capitol that our family poisons
- 9:50Speaker 3: the blood of this country and are the enemy within.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Also greatest generation, Yeah right, I prefer heroes that don't
- 9:57Speaker 3: get shot. I think that's a little sorry chasm there.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Echoing the words of Donald Trump. I'm so happy that
- 10:05Speaker 3: in twenty twenty four, Capitol still knows her role fourth
- 10:07Speaker 3: behind all the men. It says a tankster, tex says Dave.

- 10:37Speaker 3: towards the bottom of every important metric during her tenure,
- 10:40Speaker 3: and now she's top four boss in the Senate. Remarkable,
- 10:44Speaker 3: tex says, Remember the Trump tariffs that caused farmers to
- 10:46Speaker 3: lose profits, so the Trump government had to bail them out.
- 10:49Speaker 3: That surely didn't contribute to the inflation and won't happen again,

- 13:53Speaker 10: yeah yeah yeah yeah. Well it is it is.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Uh, it's fair to say it's a mess. I spent
- 13:59Speaker 4: all day. I gave up my entire day yesterday and
- 14:02Speaker 4: spent it in Parkersburg at the WVSSAC offices.
- 14:06Speaker 3: You mean you missed that stellar performance by my Dallas
- 14:08Speaker 3: Cowboys yesterday.
- 14:09Speaker 10: Yeah, I did.
- 14:09Speaker 4: I was very forty as I missed the game between
- 14:12Speaker 4: my Washington commanders.
- 14:13Speaker 10: Uh what a game that was, Huh. But anyway, yeah,
- 14:16Speaker 10: all day long. I got home.
- 14:17Speaker 4: I got there about nine yesterday morning. I got home
- 14:19Speaker 4: at six thirty last night. And nothing was accomplished. Absolutely
- 14:24Speaker 4: nothing was accomplished. They can only work in the al
- 14:27Speaker 4: fairless with the SSAC. They can only work in the
- 14:30Speaker 4: present and in the present. Yesterday was according to an
- 14:35Speaker 4: injunction that came down Saturday. If you're ready for that
- 14:39Speaker 4: injunction came down Friday. It was ruled on Saturday at
- 14:42Speaker 4: one thirty five, and at one thirty five that injunction
- 14:45Speaker 4: said that was that it was imposed by the Wood
- 14:49Speaker 4: County Schools. That that judge said that the rating system
- 14:53Speaker 4: had to go back to and for purposes, let's to
- 14:56Speaker 4: say prior to August first, okay, which meant and then
- 15:01Speaker 4: if you remember August twenty sixth first, the week high
- 15:05Speaker 4: school football when he began. What happened was there was
- 15:09Speaker 4: a ruling and Border of View got involved and they
- 15:11Speaker 4: dropped down twenty three teams that each dropped down a class.
- 15:15Speaker 4: But by then football was getting ready to start. Seasons
- 15:17Speaker 4: were underway, so they had to come up with a
- 15:20Speaker 4: rating system that said, hey, if you were a quad
- 15:23Speaker 4: A school Capital Saint Albans or now you're going to
- 15:27Speaker 4: be a triple A school and you'll get give triple
- 15:30Speaker 4: A points, not Quada points. Even though you're on the schedule,
- 15:33Speaker 4: say for a Huntington or whoever that's a quadi school,
- 15:36Speaker 4: thinking you're going to get quada points. You don't get
- 15:38Speaker 4: triple A points. That was a problem. Okay, so yesterday
- 15:42Speaker 4: you had to go from well for one thirty five
- 15:45Speaker 4: Saturday until about seven o'clock Saturday night. Bryce cast you
- 15:48Speaker 4: know Bryce, he's the guy that does all the ratings
- 15:51Speaker 4: and all of that.
- 15:51Speaker 10: He had to really really.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Bust his tail to go back and figure out what
- 15:55Speaker 4: the ratings should be now. And that's what they went
- 15:58Speaker 4: off of yesterday in the meetings, and the biggest changes
- 16:02Speaker 4: was a lot of shifting as far as positions in
- 16:06Speaker 4: the playoffs, the top sixteen. But there were four teams
- 16:09Speaker 4: that went to bed on let's say Friday night after
- 16:14Speaker 4: the games in the playoffs. They woke up Sunday morning,
- 16:17Speaker 4: they're out of the playoffs. Four teams and who.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Are those four teams. Okay, west Side was one, right.
- 16:23Speaker 10: West Side was one, Saint Mary's was one.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Tulsa.
- 16:28Speaker 10: Tulsa was in on it also, Oh.
- 16:32Speaker 4: I have it, I have it, I have it. I
- 16:34Speaker 4: came prepared, okay. And the other team that was bumped
- 16:39Speaker 4: out was Hampshire. Hampshire, well Hampshire and Point Pleasant was
- 16:43Speaker 4: bumped out. Tulsa was not bumped out. Okay, okay, it
- 16:45Speaker 4: was Hampshire, Point Pleasant, West Side and Saint Mary's. That's
- 16:50Speaker 4: the team's okay.
- 16:52Speaker 10: Now.
- 16:52Speaker 4: The bad thing that really shows up here is the
- 16:54Speaker 4: fact that in triple A, okay, in class Triple A,
- 16:58Speaker 4: Point Pleasant was bumped out. Hampshire was bumped out. They
- 17:02Speaker 4: were fifteen and sixteen by the.
- 17:06Speaker 10: New ratings, so you had to go back to the
- 17:08Speaker 10: old ratings.
- 17:09Speaker 4: The teams that finished twenty fourth and twenty fifth made
- 17:13Speaker 4: it back into the top sixteen. Capital they went from
- 17:17Speaker 4: twenty four to number ten.
- 17:21Speaker 3: With all due respect to the Cougars, I not deserving
- 17:24Speaker 3: to be in the top sixteen. Come on, exactly old,
- 17:27Speaker 3: but it gets worse, it gets worse now.
- 17:29Speaker 10: Yes, Saints Albans uh huh.
- 17:31Speaker 4: They had a record of three and seven. They went
- 17:33Speaker 4: from number twenty five to number fifteen. Now the bad
- 17:37Speaker 4: part about when you look at schedules. Lincoln in class
- 17:41Speaker 4: double A. Okay, they went from being out of the
- 17:45Speaker 4: playoffs at sixteen into the playoffs at out of the
- 17:49Speaker 4: playoffs at seventeen, into the playoffs at sixteen. They have
- 17:52Speaker 4: a record of three and seven. West Side was in
- 17:55Speaker 4: at sixteen, they're out. They had a record of seven
- 17:58Speaker 4: and three. Well, this makes perfect That make perfect sense now.
- 18:01Speaker 4: And I happen to know the coach of Westside very well.
- 18:04Speaker 10: His great guy.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Well, he's a great player back for the and his
- 18:08Speaker 3: father and I are the same age. That's how you
- 18:10Speaker 3: know you're getting old when you make comments. But his
- 18:12Speaker 3: father and I are the same age. And I know
- 18:14Speaker 3: justin he's a quality young man. He'll do great things
- 18:16Speaker 3: with that program. But he's got a reason Fred to
- 18:18Speaker 3: be upset here, he and the others. I just happen
- 18:21Speaker 3: to know him.
- 18:21Speaker 10: Yeah, he does. Indeed.
- 18:22Speaker 4: In fact, let's be fair here that I don't think
- 18:25Speaker 4: there's letting the cat out of the bag. There's going
- 18:28Speaker 4: to be an injunction file tomorrow morning. Can't do it
- 18:30Speaker 4: today because it's a holiday. At this day, they'll do
- 18:32Speaker 4: it tomorrow morning. Where's this go is the big thing?
- 18:36Speaker 4: I've been told the injunction is going to be filed,
- 18:39Speaker 4: and he's going to be filed in front of a
- 18:40Speaker 4: Wyoming County judge. What do you think the Wyoming County
- 18:42Speaker 4: judge is going to do?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Oh?
- 18:43Speaker 10: Yeah, okay, because they are elected official.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Sure, so then that what happens is you have an
- 18:48Speaker 4: injunction that will be in play from Wood County from Saturday,
- 18:52Speaker 4: an injunction that will be in play from Wyoming County tomorrow.
- 18:56Speaker 4: That gives you two injunctions that are both in playin say, see,
- 19:00Speaker 4: by law cannot pick which one they want to use.
- 19:03Speaker 4: So you got to go to a higher court. This
- 19:05Speaker 4: is going to go to the Supreme the Supreme Court,
- 19:07Speaker 4: which is not in session. They're not not supposed to
- 19:11Speaker 4: be in session to again until January ninth or something.
- 19:14Speaker 10: However, they can come in on an emergency basis.
- 19:17Speaker 4: This would certainly entail an emergency basis because look what
- 19:21Speaker 4: you're doing, I mean you are you are just upsetting
- 19:25Speaker 4: everything that goes forward in high school sports, not only football.
- 19:29Speaker 4: How many of these kids playing football play basketball?
- 19:32Speaker 10: Six yeah?
- 19:33Speaker 4: Probably the girls basketball season practice starts today, so it's here,
- 19:38Speaker 4: so they can't and is the University of Charleston Stadium
- 19:41Speaker 4: going to be available. I think if you increase it,
- 19:43Speaker 4: if you push it back one week, which is what
- 19:45Speaker 4: we're hoping for, they're not going to play this week.
- 19:47Speaker 4: They're just not this This day spent in Parkersburg yesterday.
- 19:52Speaker 10: What a waste. What a waste?
- 19:54Speaker 4: Okay, because they will I think, I think go back
- 19:57Speaker 4: to the way it was when we started the football season. Okay,
- 20:02Speaker 4: all of the ratings and that puts west Side back in.
- 20:06Speaker 4: That's going to take Capital, Saint Alban's out, gonna take
- 20:08Speaker 4: Lincoln out, so on and so forth.
- 20:10Speaker 10: Hampshire would get back in.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Hampshire's never been in the Football Championships and the playoffs.
- 20:14Speaker 4: They were in this year until this new moving came out.
- 20:18Speaker 3: They were in twenty they were in for twenty minutes.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Twenty minutes.
- 20:20Speaker 10: That's it true out.
- 20:21Speaker 4: So I think I think what will happen is they're
- 20:24Speaker 4: going to postpone everything, maybe a week. I think the
- 20:27Speaker 4: Supreme Court will get to it quickly, I really do
- 20:30Speaker 4: because it does affect a lot of things. And found
- 20:33Speaker 4: out yesterday that the SSAC has had to be had
- 20:36Speaker 4: to present things before the Supreme Court five other times,
- 20:39Speaker 4: and their record with the Supreme Court is five and zero.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Supreme Court says, hey, lower court rulings, stay out of it.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Because SSAC is a private entity. The schools do not
- 20:51Speaker 4: have to be a member of the SSAC. That's a
- 20:54Speaker 4: volunteer organization. You can still play a season, you just
- 20:57Speaker 4: can't qualify for the playoffs if you're not a man
- 21:00Speaker 4: for the SSAC, because it's the SSAC who puts on
- 21:03Speaker 4: the player. Sure, so that's the way that goes. And
- 21:05Speaker 4: I think that's what's going to happen. I think we're
- 21:07Speaker 4: going to lose a week. I think nobody plays this week,
- 21:11Speaker 4: which should make game night really fun. Friday night can't wait.
- 21:15Speaker 4: But again, you know, let the adults stay out of it.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Please let it be about what it's supposed to be about,
- 21:22Speaker 4: and that's the kids.
- 21:23Speaker 3: So what does this all have to do with volleyball?
- 21:26Speaker 3: How did volleyball get in this? I mean, because they've
- 21:29Speaker 3: all started this thing. There were five injunctions in Class A.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Volleyball five five one is being heard tomorrow morning at
- 21:35Speaker 3: eight am and Romney okay, so it was too close
- 21:38Speaker 3: to the start volleyball tournament is here.
- 21:41Speaker 4: The state championship start this week. So Class single a
- 21:44Speaker 4: volleyball postponed, don't know when it'll be played.
- 21:47Speaker 10: Don't know when.
- 21:48Speaker 4: All of those young ladies that work so hard thinking
- 21:51Speaker 4: they were going to go to a state championship this
- 21:53Speaker 4: week in Charleston, with all the hooplaw around the state tournament,
- 21:56Speaker 4: you've been there. They're sitting at home with you in
- 21:59Speaker 4: Class single at there. They're not going don't know when
- 22:02Speaker 4: they'll go, hopefully soon. But you've got these buildings that
- 22:06Speaker 4: have other things going. Yeah, you're getting into basketball. See
- 22:09Speaker 4: here in this basketball season, Charleston Coliseum stays busy all
- 22:12Speaker 4: your time. Absolutely, the University of Charleston Ladleyfield, University of
- 22:17Speaker 4: Charleston Mountain Lions are in the D two playoffs. They
- 22:21Speaker 4: play at that place. So do you have if you
- 22:24Speaker 4: move it back a week, are you gonna have to
- 22:26Speaker 4: change the times you're gonna play your games?
- 22:28Speaker 10: All of that is up in the area.
- 22:30Speaker 3: How could this Fred, and and I know that you're
- 22:32Speaker 3: you're the journalist and all this and you're trying to
- 22:34Speaker 3: keep it austraight, but how could all of this simply
- 22:37Speaker 3: have been avoided by Honestly, and.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I've said this many many times, West Virginia is not
- 22:42Speaker 4: a big enough state for four classes. Have we been
- 22:45Speaker 4: triple A, double A, single A, none of this would
- 22:48Speaker 4: have happened. It would not have happened. We when we
- 22:52Speaker 4: triple AUA A single A. You'd hear people complaining. Coaches
- 22:55Speaker 4: would complain about, oh man, I'm in triple A or
- 22:57Speaker 4: I'm in i ain't got a chance. And they always
- 22:59Speaker 4: complained about what the private schools worked all of that out.
- 23:02Speaker 10: They complained, but they never went to court.
- 23:06Speaker 4: They just played. Now it's hey, you smacked me too hard.
- 23:09Speaker 4: I'm going to take you to court. That's our problem today.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Well, that's that's and that's not confined to the today
- 23:15Speaker 3: athletic career.
- 23:16Speaker 4: No, you're exactly right, but that's the problem. Uh you
- 23:19Speaker 4: know my I said yesterday, let's forget the whole thing,
- 23:22Speaker 4: give everybody a trophy and let's all go.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Well, that would be the twenty twenty four way to
- 23:26Speaker 3: do it.
- 23:26Speaker 4: The way everybody I think it gets worked out. But
- 23:29Speaker 4: I do think there's a week that we're going to
- 23:32Speaker 4: get an extra week off, which is not good. But
- 23:35Speaker 4: if it is and we just get back to playing
- 23:37Speaker 4: next weekend.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Okay, in high school game night this Friday, n would
- 23:40Speaker 3: be Fred talking about his garden.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Yes, and uh, Dave Allen will be on to tell
- 23:44Speaker 4: me about all the good things going on wherever he
- 23:46Speaker 4: wants to talk about he wants.
- 23:48Speaker 3: You know what I thought about it right now, don't
- 23:49Speaker 3: give me that option. I thought about.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Opening it up to the general public, but I thought, no,
- 23:54Speaker 4: that eight second delay might not.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Be you know, eight minute delay. Yeah, all right, Fred,
- 24:00Speaker 3: it's of high school sports in West Virginia. I appreciate
- 24:02Speaker 3: you being here, man, Thanks a lot.
- 24:03Speaker 10: Anytime.
- 24:03Speaker 3: It's about as clear as mud right now. Yes, I'm
- 24:06Speaker 3: I'm glad I came in and that up. I'm glad you.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I feel like one of those guys with the whiteboards,
- 24:10Speaker 3: you know, on election night. You know this has got
- 24:12Speaker 3: to happen, and this has got to happen, except we
- 24:13Speaker 3: don't have a white board.
- 24:14Speaker 9: I feel for all the.
- 24:15Speaker 4: People that really involved, but not directly because of these injunctions.
- 24:19Speaker 10: They're just sitting there.
- 24:20Speaker 4: And you know that if the new if the new
- 24:24Speaker 4: ratings go back into effect, and I think they will
- 24:26Speaker 4: be a lot of teams that were hosting is not
- 24:29Speaker 4: going to be hosting. Now they're gonna be on the road,
- 24:31Speaker 4: so it's all kind of a mess.
- 24:33Speaker 10: All right.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Well, Fred, and and everybody else here is keeping a
- 24:36Speaker 3: close eye on the website and online. I appreciate you

- 28:54Speaker 3: myself included, want to crap on these kids today. Well,

- 29:05Speaker 3: to blame just the generation. I think sometimes and I've

- 29:20Speaker 3: I'm doing well. Thank you for having me on. I
- 29:21Speaker 3: had and I got Commissioner commission President Lance Wheeler. You
- 29:24Speaker 3: guys were talking in the green room, and I appreciate
- 29:26Speaker 3: you kind of. We had to move some schedules around
- 29:28Speaker 3: to accommodate Fred this morning, and everybody just says, this
- 29:30Speaker 3: whole thing's a mess, and we're not going to get
- 29:32Speaker 3: into it with you, but this whole playoff thing is
- 29:34Speaker 3: a mess.
- 29:35Speaker 14: It is a total mess, and it's been a disaster,
- 29:37Speaker 14: it looks like, from the start till now, and hopefully
- 29:39Speaker 14: we can get it resolved moving forward.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Fred seems to think that they'll take this week off
- 29:43Speaker 3: and maybe have it resolved by next week. That's what
- 29:45Speaker 3: he said. Well, I think we need to sort of
- 29:46Speaker 3: revamp everything. Oh yeah, yeah, I'm talking about short.
- 29:49Speaker 14: Term, short short term, but long term. I think that's
- 29:51Speaker 14: what we've got to get to fix.
- 29:52Speaker 3: In let's talk about your campaign you won. Congratulations, Thank you.
- 29:55Speaker 3: I appreciate congratulation. It was a hard campaign for you,
- 29:58Speaker 3: Yes it was.
- 29:58Speaker 14: We worked really hard, knocked a lot of doors who
- 30:01Speaker 14: were out meeting constituents, so but we pulled it through.
- 30:05Speaker 3: What was it about your message, delicate lewis that you
- 30:09Speaker 3: think resonated with people of your district.
- 30:11Speaker 14: Well, again, you know, we're all politicians. I know sometimes
- 30:13Speaker 14: people run away from that, but once you.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Sign your name, once you sign your name on the line,
- 30:19Speaker 3: you are a politicolitician.
- 30:21Speaker 10: Okay.
- 30:21Speaker 14: However, I've been doing work in these communities for years now.
- 30:24Speaker 14: You know, I've been a coach at South Charleston High School,
- 30:26Speaker 14: Dunbar Middle South of South Charleston Youth. I've been an
- 30:29Speaker 14: advocate and just been in the community for a long time.
- 30:32Speaker 14: So a lot of people already were familiar with the
- 30:34Speaker 14: work that I had previously done. So when they see
- 30:36Speaker 14: me on a campaign trail and again I was out
- 30:38Speaker 14: in the streets meeting constituents, just letting them know who
- 30:40Speaker 14: I am. And I have a people first, community first
- 30:43Speaker 14: mindset when it comes to campaigning and running.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Overall, and I know you would admit this. I'm gonna
- 30:48Speaker 3: gouldn't say the obvious here, Delegate, it was not a
- 30:51Speaker 3: good night for for Democrats in West Virginia. Uh and
- 30:55Speaker 3: and across the country for that matter too.
- 30:57Speaker 10: Uh.
- 30:57Speaker 3: But the area dead up to a there, I mean
- 31:00Speaker 3: the Kenov out it did op to elect not only you,
- 31:03Speaker 3: but also Delegate Kaylee Young will be on the show
- 31:06Speaker 3: I don't know one day this week, and also a
- 31:09Speaker 3: delegate Democratic Party chair Mike Pushkin. So you're a survivor.
- 31:14Speaker 3: That's one way of looking at it.
- 31:16Speaker 14: But you know, like I said, it wasn't But like
- 31:18Speaker 14: I said, we got to go back to the drawing
- 31:20Speaker 14: board and we got work to do in order to
- 31:21Speaker 14: get people entos and get people back voting.
- 31:25Speaker 3: So what's that we're going to entail because I'll tell
- 31:26Speaker 3: you why yesterday. I'm kind of a Sunday morning news junkie.
- 31:29Speaker 3: I watch a lot of these shows. And I watched
- 31:32Speaker 3: on Jonathan Carl's show yesterday this week and Donnasa or
- 31:35Speaker 3: Donna Brazil talking. I watched Chris Steierwaldt, you know West
- 31:38Speaker 3: Virginia native who has the show The Hill Sunday, and
- 31:41Speaker 3: they all talked about that all of the mistakes that
- 31:44Speaker 3: were made on the national level. You're not responsible for
- 31:46Speaker 3: that on the national level from the Democratic Party. And
- 31:50Speaker 3: it used to be the Democratic Party was the party
- 31:52Speaker 3: of the working people. Many people say it is, but
- 31:54Speaker 3: it doesn't seem like the voters. If that's the case,
- 31:58Speaker 3: Hollis that the voters aren't getting that man message and.
- 32:02Speaker 14: That and that very well could be true. So I
- 32:04Speaker 14: think number one, we have to work on messaging.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Right. We can't talk at people. We have to talk
- 32:08Speaker 3: to people.
- 32:09Speaker 14: And we have to be more cognizance of the thing
- 32:11Speaker 14: that people care about, you know, not only here locally
- 32:14Speaker 14: but nationally. Right, we have to you know, get new
- 32:17Speaker 14: leadership far as just from the ground up. So and
- 32:21Speaker 14: I think Tommy matter if you're looking at a national campaign,
- 32:24Speaker 14: if you look at a presidential campaign, I don't think
- 32:26Speaker 14: VP Harris had enough time to actually run a thorough campaign.
- 32:30Speaker 14: So it was a lot of factors that went into
- 32:32Speaker 14: sort of the loss. And unfortunately when it comes to Democrats,
- 32:35Speaker 14: I would say even Republicans.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Two things that tend to work from top down. Yeah,
- 32:38Speaker 3: no matter what the party is again, we're talking with
- 32:40Speaker 3: that will get Hollis Lewisa, Dave Alan Chow and five
- 32:43Speaker 3: any life brought to you party by Pinnacle Consultants Poor
- 32:45Speaker 3: indoor air Quality because a variety of health issues include analogies,
- 32:49Speaker 3: respiratory problems, and more. Pinnacle for specialized indoor air quality
- 32:52Speaker 3: services for residential, commercial, and industrial type settings visa Pinnacle
- 32:56Speaker 3: Court dot net. Because what you don't know can hurt you.
- 33:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead and get into something. You know,
- 33:02Speaker 3: I don't want to bring up any ill will or whatever,
- 33:06Speaker 3: but your opponent on the show or not on the show,
- 33:10Speaker 3: and the campaigner should say set on this show. Talking
- 33:13Speaker 3: about Mark Carter, Republican challenger, he challenged some things about you,
- 33:16Speaker 3: including saying or implying that maybe you supported a defund
- 33:21Speaker 3: the police movement. Would you like to comment on them?
- 33:23Speaker 14: Yeah, I would, And you know, all respect to mister Carter.
- 33:26Speaker 14: That's totally ridiculous. I've said even when that slogan was
- 33:29Speaker 14: popular a few years ago, it was silly. And my
- 33:32Speaker 14: day job, I'm a CIT crisis ANVINCY Team director. I
- 33:34Speaker 14: work with law enforcement every single day in order to
- 33:37Speaker 14: help facilitate those trainings for twenty first century problems. So
- 33:41Speaker 14: we don't need to defund the police. We need to
- 33:43Speaker 14: actually look at their budgets and see how we can
- 33:45Speaker 14: actually get more funding for trainings like cit mental health
- 33:49Speaker 14: first or the twenty first century policing. So you know,
- 33:53Speaker 14: I'm on the groundworking, So even to imply that about
- 33:56Speaker 14: me is ridiculous.
- 33:57Speaker 3: And it goes from my work.
- 33:58Speaker 14: As a magistrate judge working on the parole board to
- 34:01Speaker 14: an adjunct professional criminal justice. I work with law enforcement
- 34:05Speaker 14: every single day, and I want to see improvements not
- 34:08Speaker 14: only to their training, but just to you know, even
- 34:11Speaker 14: their own mental health because it's a it's a very
- 34:13Speaker 14: difficult job for our first responders, in our law enforcement personnel.
- 34:17Speaker 3: So that's that's a hard note from you, Superno.
- 34:21Speaker 14: And again, this is something I've said for years, not
- 34:23Speaker 14: just I'm not saying it just now. I'm saying that,
- 34:26Speaker 14: you know, five six years ago, when that was a
- 34:27Speaker 14: popular thing to say and it was ridiculous, then it's
- 34:30Speaker 14: ridiculous now, all right.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Talking to Hollis Lewis again, who was reelected last week
- 34:35Speaker 3: to the House of Delegates a district fifty seven. So
- 34:38Speaker 3: we have interims going on right now. What's that look
- 34:41Speaker 3: like for you?
- 34:42Speaker 2: Oh?
- 34:42Speaker 14: You know, I had we had several meetings yesterday, a
- 34:44Speaker 14: couple of meetings today, So we're just getting information, you know,
- 34:48Speaker 14: some very actually good information and just seeing if that's
- 34:51Speaker 14: gonna be applicable or something we can do.
- 34:53Speaker 3: One session starts, yeah, I know, and we've got stories
- 34:55Speaker 3: up about it on the website wv metro News dot com,
- 34:57Speaker 3: so you may want to go check out what's going on.
- 34:59Speaker 3: And they continue I think through tomorrow. I think, is
- 35:01Speaker 3: that right? What's the new session look like for you?
- 35:05Speaker 3: With the with the new members coming in, there'll be
- 35:07Speaker 3: some new members coming in, some familiar faces coming. Are
- 35:09Speaker 3: you already looking I know you're always looking ahead, sir,
- 35:12Speaker 3: but what are you looking at? What are you looking at?
- 35:14Speaker 3: Wanting to get accomplished? Oh, it's several things I want
- 35:17Speaker 3: to get accomplished.
- 35:18Speaker 7: You know.
- 35:18Speaker 14: Again, this campaign sorted to that was sort of my focus.
- 35:21Speaker 14: So you know, we want to look at you know,
- 35:23Speaker 14: obviously my expertise will be in criminal just so I
- 35:25Speaker 14: want to look at issues around that to see how
- 35:27Speaker 14: we can improve our systems in holistic you know, holistically.
- 35:32Speaker 14: And also you know, like I said, it's going to
- 35:33Speaker 14: be a new session. It's a lot of new faces,
- 35:35Speaker 14: so it's going to be interesting to see how this
- 35:38Speaker 14: you know, upcoming session goes, and.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Of course what's what's been on a lot of people's minds,
- 35:42Speaker 3: both Republican and Democrat, has been the childcare crisis in
- 35:45Speaker 3: West Virginia. And you, because of your experience Dell to
- 35:49Speaker 3: Gate have U in your personal life and and well
- 35:52Speaker 3: your professional life, I should say you've seen a lot
- 35:54Speaker 3: of this firsthand because as a magistrate you saw you
- 35:57Speaker 3: eventually see the childcare issue and whatever manifests themselves in
- 36:02Speaker 3: the court system.
- 36:02Speaker 14: Yeah, I've done ratifications. Unfortunately, I've had to look at
- 36:06Speaker 14: some you know, even on the parole board, I've had
- 36:07Speaker 14: to you know, read some very terrible things. So I
- 36:10Speaker 14: think what we have to look at is not only
- 36:12Speaker 14: you know, we have to see what we can actually
- 36:15Speaker 14: do for DHHR and our cp CPS personnel, to see
- 36:19Speaker 14: how we can get them better training, to see how
- 36:20Speaker 14: we can provide them more tools to see a better pathology.
- 36:23Speaker 14: Just once the kid has decided to be taken out
- 36:26Speaker 14: of the home that they're just not placing the hotel
- 36:28Speaker 14: placed in Falster care about how we can get kinship
- 36:30Speaker 14: relationships going. So I think we're going to have to
- 36:33Speaker 14: consider reworking the whole system in order to alleviate our
- 36:37Speaker 14: falster care problem.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Uh so one wanted man to point out that you
- 36:39Speaker 3: stuff some signs up out there, sir, Yeah, I'm getting them.
- 36:42Speaker 3: I'm getting them.
- 36:43Speaker 14: It's been a busy it's been a busy week, so
- 36:45Speaker 14: I will get to them. That's what one of the
- 36:48Speaker 14: plans for today is.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Yeah, what head to dounebar.
- 36:50Speaker 14: According to I'm going to get a thank you for

- 37:23Speaker 3: give you that last little bit just to say whatever

- 37:28Speaker 14: I really appreciate this time. Yeah, I want to thank
- 37:31Speaker 14: my family again. I was away a lot. I have

- 37:43Speaker 14: volunteers and everybody who worked on this campaign. Again, when
- 37:46Speaker 14: you run a campaign, when you run a thorough campaign,
- 37:48Speaker 14: you are not doing this by yourself.
- 37:49Speaker 3: This isn't a solo mission.
- 37:50Speaker 14: This is a team effort, including the voters as you know,
- 37:53Speaker 14: being part of my team. So again, all the people

- 38:11Speaker 14: even to you, thank you for this platform.

- 41:41Speaker 9: How you doing, man, doing well? How are you doing?
- 41:42Speaker 10: Dam doing fine?
- 41:43Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. In the new year, you're
- 41:46Speaker 3: gonna have a new commission member, of course, mister Kentcarper
- 41:49Speaker 3: resigned earlier this year. He was replaced by Mark Slotnik.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Mission Slocknik opting not to run. And then last week
- 41:55Speaker 3: a hard fought battle between Democrat Natalie Tenant making history
- 41:58Speaker 3: as the first female member of the Canawah County Commission,
- 42:02Speaker 3: and she defeats not my a whole lot, but she
- 42:03Speaker 3: did defeat Republican Chris Walters. So you got a new
- 42:06Speaker 3: person sitting up there at the desk with you and
- 42:08Speaker 3: mister Slango.
- 42:09Speaker 17: Isn't that exciting? It's exciting to have somebody new on
- 42:11Speaker 17: the County Commission. You know, when I ran in twenty twenty,
- 42:14Speaker 17: I said I wanted to come with new ideas and
- 42:15Speaker 17: a fresh perspective. And it's going to be about four
- 42:18Speaker 17: years now that I've been County Commissioner, and so having
- 42:20Speaker 17: somebody come in with that new perspective of what we've
- 42:23Speaker 17: done just within the last four years and offering new ideas,
- 42:27Speaker 17: I'm excited to work with her and see where she
- 42:29Speaker 17: wants to really show her value with the county, in
- 42:32Speaker 17: the community, and what she wants to do and his
- 42:34Speaker 17: sister if we you know, if we agree. You know,
- 42:36Speaker 17: you had her on here and you said, it's a
- 42:38Speaker 17: little different when you have Commissioner Slango, Commissioner Wheeler, and
- 42:41Speaker 17: Commissioner Tenant. We all have to agree on something, and
- 42:44Speaker 17: I think we're going to. We've always had that ability
- 42:47Speaker 17: to work well with each other, and so I'm excited
- 42:50Speaker 17: to bring her on see what she wants to do
- 42:52Speaker 17: and how we can help facilitate that.
- 42:54Speaker 3: You're out numbered now as far as the party goes.
- 42:56Speaker 3: You realize that, right, I've always been out numbered, that's true.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Think about that.
- 43:00Speaker 17: But you know I was talking to Hollis Delitt, Hollis
- 43:02Speaker 17: just out there while we were waiting for him to
- 43:04Speaker 17: come on, and I said, look, you know what you
- 43:06Speaker 17: need to do is find that common ground, find that
- 43:09Speaker 17: common ground that you can both agree on and work
- 43:11Speaker 17: on that project. And that's what's going to help our community,
- 43:14Speaker 17: help our state. Uh That's what I've done. You know,
- 43:17Speaker 17: I have been out numbered, but you've never seen me
- 43:19Speaker 17: stop doing a project. Whether it's the hat film McCoy's,
- 43:21Speaker 17: whether it's water projects, whether it's investing our parks and
- 43:25Speaker 17: rec and our businesses, supporting our communities, supporting the Sheriff's office.
- 43:30Speaker 17: You know a lot of these are not really a
- 43:32Speaker 17: bipartisan issues that we run into the County Commission, so
- 43:36Speaker 17: we work well together. I'm going to continue to do
- 43:38Speaker 17: that as with Natalie one, and I'm excited to see
- 43:41Speaker 17: again what ideas she's going to bring to the table
- 43:43Speaker 17: and how we can work the Betterkanall County.
- 43:46Speaker 3: So what exactly happened to action night with the with
- 43:50Speaker 3: the with the problems in getting the totals, Because I
- 43:52Speaker 3: my Danny Jones and I were manning things here locally
- 43:55Speaker 3: and the plan was, you know that we would handle
- 43:57Speaker 3: the local stuff and then we'd send it to Morgantown
- 43:59Speaker 3: for Jeff and Hoppy and Brad and crew, and Danny
- 44:01Speaker 3: and I didn't have a whole lot to talk about
- 44:03Speaker 3: because it wasn't really until seven am the next morning.
- 44:06Speaker 3: We were long gone by then that we actually got results.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Explain it in language that everybody can understand what went
- 44:11Speaker 3: wrong in Kanan County on like sho night.
- 44:13Speaker 17: Well, let me back up for one second and just
- 44:15Speaker 17: say that when you go to vote, as we all did,
- 44:18Speaker 17: when you go to vote, you go and put it
- 44:19Speaker 17: in the machine and it prints out a paper ballot.
- 44:22Speaker 17: Now that's important right there. We have paper ballots. There
- 44:25Speaker 17: are individuals who tell us we got to get rid
- 44:27Speaker 17: of the machines. That's where the fraud is. That's where
- 44:29Speaker 17: the corruption is. We don't have machines. We have paper ballots.
- 44:31Speaker 17: We have a printer, and we have a calculator, but
- 44:34Speaker 17: there's always a hard copy ballot. And that's why I
- 44:37Speaker 17: always tell voters when you go to vote, make sure
- 44:39Speaker 17: when that prints out that you look at it and
- 44:41Speaker 17: those choices that you selected are printed on there. Now
- 44:44Speaker 17: we don't think that everyone to be an issue, but
- 44:45Speaker 17: that's a good checks and balances right there. And so
- 44:48Speaker 17: when that ballot goes through that machine before you leave
- 44:50Speaker 17: and they show you that it gets counted, it tabulates
- 44:53Speaker 17: what you voted and it puts it onto a data stick.
- 44:56Speaker 17: It's kind of a USB, but it doesn't work for
- 44:58Speaker 17: any other device other than the tabulator machine for voting.
- 45:02Speaker 17: And so that stick holds all of every time a
- 45:05Speaker 17: ballot runs through that it holds every one of those
- 45:07Speaker 17: votes where they were casted, and so then on election night,
- 45:10Speaker 17: after the polls closed, we're able to take that data stick,
- 45:12Speaker 17: put it into a computer and calculate all those votes
- 45:16Speaker 17: and see what the results are at the end of
- 45:17Speaker 17: the day. The unfortunate situation is that one of seventeen
- 45:22Speaker 17: machines that we were using for early voting, that data
- 45:25Speaker 17: stick was corrupted, and what that means is that it
- 45:28Speaker 17: failed when it went to copy of the data after
- 45:30Speaker 17: closing out after early voting, that data did not get
- 45:32Speaker 17: stored on there, and so we knew it said that
- 45:35Speaker 17: there were seventeen hundred votes, but we didn't know how
- 45:37Speaker 17: they cast, who they went, which candidates they went to.
- 45:39Speaker 17: And so we had thirty one, four hundred and fifty
- 45:42Speaker 17: four early voting ballots. That's a number that will be
- 45:45Speaker 17: etched in my brain for the rest of my life,
- 45:47Speaker 17: of no doubt, and we knew that seventeen hundred of them.
- 45:51Speaker 17: We could not get those counted. And the only way,
- 45:53Speaker 17: because when you have an early voting location, anybody can
- 45:56Speaker 17: go to that location where you live in Kennall County,
- 45:59Speaker 17: we don't know where those ballots are. We have the
- 46:01Speaker 17: paper ballots, we had them all stored and locked away,
- 46:03Speaker 17: as state code says, but we didn't know which ones
- 46:06Speaker 17: weren't counted. And so unfortunately, the only way that we
- 46:08Speaker 17: could determine the integrity of the election and making sure
- 46:11Speaker 17: that every vote that was cast is counted is we
- 46:15Speaker 17: had to count all thirty one thousand, five hundred and
- 46:18Speaker 17: forty five early voting votes on election night.
- 46:20Speaker 3: So basically the system worked in all this, the.
- 46:24Speaker 17: Checks and balances of it worked. Yes, the process worked.
- 46:28Speaker 17: We counted all those until eight am, and when those
- 46:32Speaker 17: numbers came through the the and we were crossing our fingers.
- 46:34Speaker 17: When those numbers came back, they balanced. And what that
- 46:37Speaker 17: means is the number of votes that we knew got
- 46:40Speaker 17: were cast in the early vote were counted in the machine.
- 46:43Speaker 9: And that means that.
- 46:44Speaker 17: Our workers, our workers who worked tiresly, our volunteers, our
- 46:48Speaker 17: county clerk's office employees, they counted every single one of
- 46:53Speaker 17: those ballots.
- 46:54Speaker 9: And that's what that means. That it balanced.
- 46:56Speaker 17: And I think that's extremely incredible because a lot of
- 46:58Speaker 17: them were working twenty four hours. They came in at
- 47:00Speaker 17: four am that day to start the election, twenty four hours,
- 47:04Speaker 17: well over twenty four hours, and actually there was cheering
- 47:07Speaker 17: going on, and someone from the media asked me, why
- 47:09Speaker 17: are they cheering? I said, they just hit their twenty
- 47:11Speaker 17: four hour mark.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Yeah again. We're talking to Kenaugh County Commission President Lance

- 47:41Speaker 3: better health today. And I do need to correct something
- 47:43Speaker 3: I said when Danny Jones and I were waiting back
- 47:45Speaker 3: here without my producer, Ryan Nicholson. None of it goes
- 47:49Speaker 3: on the air anyway, so I did want to make
- 47:51Speaker 3: sure to Ryan that I did. That was pointed out
- 47:53Speaker 3: to me that hey, it wasn't just me and Danny Ryan.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Ryan's the guy that puts it all on the air.
- 47:57Speaker 3: So without Ryan or whoever a producer is, there's no
- 48:00Speaker 3: show period. So I heard the qu in shout out,
- 48:03Speaker 3: shout out to shout out to right. All right, so
- 48:06Speaker 3: canvas is going on now, right.
- 48:08Speaker 17: Yeah, And before we move off of it, I just
- 48:10Speaker 17: want to say that I'm very proud of the work
- 48:12Speaker 17: that the County Clerk's done, did our county commissioners. You know,
- 48:15Speaker 17: we were very transparent. We immediately issued a statement saying
- 48:18Speaker 17: that there was an issue. We explained the issue to
- 48:20Speaker 17: the candidates. I made the promise that we were going
- 48:23Speaker 17: to count every single one of these thirty one, four
- 48:25Speaker 17: hundred and fifty four ballots in front of the public.
- 48:28Speaker 17: The courthouse was never going to be closed. You know,
- 48:30Speaker 17: we heard a lot of rumors about Pennsylvania and Georgia
- 48:32Speaker 17: back in twenty twenty. I didn't want anyone to think
- 48:34Speaker 17: that that we were trying to hide anything, and so
- 48:37Speaker 17: we were there up all night and counting those ballots
- 48:40Speaker 17: open to the public. The media came in and asked
- 48:42Speaker 17: can we put the camera here? And I said absolutely,
- 48:44Speaker 17: we have nothing to hide.
- 48:45Speaker 9: So very excited that we were able to say that.
- 48:47Speaker 17: We're very transparent, and I think that's how an election
- 48:49Speaker 17: should ran, even in a chaos situation.
- 48:51Speaker 3: All right, so now canvus happens.
- 48:52Speaker 17: Canvas is going to occur here tomorrow. Essentially, what that
- 48:56Speaker 17: means is that we're going to recount three percent as
- 48:58Speaker 17: an audit. So that's maybe about six precincts that we're
- 49:01Speaker 17: going to randomly choose or we hand count every one
- 49:04Speaker 17: of them. It's going to take us all day, maybe
- 49:06Speaker 17: in the Wednesday, and then we're also going to look
- 49:08Speaker 17: at the provisionals. Those are just ballots that are challenged
- 49:12Speaker 17: or you know, maybe you're not ready to vote, you
- 49:14Speaker 17: thought you were, you go to vote.
- 49:15Speaker 9: You're not on the list.
- 49:16Speaker 17: So we're going to as a county commission with Verer
- 49:18Speaker 17: McCormick as our county clerk, We're to look at every
- 49:20Speaker 17: one of those and.
- 49:21Speaker 9: We'll have the official results.
- 49:23Speaker 17: But there's about one hundred provisional votes, not enough to
- 49:25Speaker 17: change any elections that we have unofficial at this moment.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Let's talk about some water and sewer issues. That's always exciting.
- 49:31Speaker 9: Yeah, well, I think so.
- 49:32Speaker 17: You know, when I came in twenty twenty one, we
- 49:34Speaker 17: talked about water. There was a lot of projects out there.
- 49:37Speaker 17: Six of them now have been approved by the County
- 49:39Speaker 17: Commission with funding from the federal government, the state government,
- 49:43Speaker 17: and thankful to shelleymore Capito, Senator shellymore Capito for some
- 49:47Speaker 17: of the funding for Leatherwood. Governor Jim Justice now Senator elect.
- 49:52Speaker 17: His office brought a lot of funding as well. We're
- 49:54Speaker 17: very proud that we're getting to the point now that
- 49:56Speaker 17: we're running out of water projects.
- 49:58Speaker 9: David, that's a great thing, good problem. It's a great problem.
- 50:01Speaker 17: Now we have some that are out and you know,
- 50:02Speaker 17: they're asked for water, and we'll look at those, but
- 50:04Speaker 17: they're tough because it's going to cost millions and millions
- 50:07Speaker 17: to get to them, just to get to them.
- 50:09Speaker 9: So we'll we'll do what we can.
- 50:10Speaker 17: But I think right now for twenty twenty five, my
- 50:12Speaker 17: focus is shifting saying, hey, mission accomplished on the water projects.
- 50:16Speaker 17: Let's start looking at sewer. We need to look at
- 50:19Speaker 17: the sewer for environmental problems. We have waste going into
- 50:22Speaker 17: waterways rivers that needs to be looked into.
- 50:25Speaker 9: Here in the county.
- 50:26Speaker 17: We got people who just they're losing their septic tanks
- 50:29Speaker 17: and they're realizing they're costing twenty five thirty fifty thousand
- 50:32Speaker 17: dollars to replace, and they can't afford it. So in
- 50:35Speaker 17: the year twenty twenty five, I believe that you shouldn't
- 50:37Speaker 17: have to be in a situation where you want sewer
- 50:40Speaker 17: access and you don't have it. And I think it's
- 50:42Speaker 17: going to help with redevelopment plans as we have more
- 50:44Speaker 17: developers coming into the county looking at this investment. You know,
- 50:48Speaker 17: with all the jobs going on around us and in
- 50:50Speaker 17: the county, a lot of people are going to choose
- 50:52Speaker 17: when they move here for a job to live in
- 50:54Speaker 17: Kennall County. It's we're the fun county, right, the fun
- 50:57Speaker 17: county with the City of Charleston. With everything we've got
- 51:00Speaker 17: on recreation, I think that there's a lot of people
- 51:02Speaker 17: want to live here and having those amenities when it
- 51:05Speaker 17: comes to utilities, whether it's water, sewer, fiber optic internet,
- 51:10Speaker 17: I think that's important for the development, not just next year,
- 51:14Speaker 17: but for the next ten years.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Got to vote coming up on playgrounds. I understand, Hey,
- 51:17Speaker 3: we've talked.
- 51:18Speaker 9: About this before.
- 51:19Speaker 17: Our playgrounds are deplorable, they're broken down, they're twenty five
- 51:24Speaker 17: thirty years old.
- 51:25Speaker 9: We've looked into it.
- 51:26Speaker 17: We hired an architect, and tomorrow we're going to be
- 51:29Speaker 17: voting one five hundred thousand dollars to go into our
- 51:33Speaker 17: Meadowood Park Playground, our Coonskin Park Playground, and our Pioneer
- 51:37Speaker 17: Park over in eastern Knall County. That's three playgrounds that
- 51:40Speaker 17: we're not just replacing, we're building one. We're making them larger.
- 51:44Speaker 9: And I'm very.
- 51:44Speaker 17: Excited for the community, for the kids and for the
- 51:47Speaker 17: parents who have asked for this, because they go to
- 51:49Speaker 17: these playgrounds and say, hey, I think we deserve better.
- 51:52Speaker 17: This County Commission agrees. We've worked on it, and we're
- 51:54Speaker 17: going to get these playgrounds back up and running and
- 51:57Speaker 17: beautiful as ever.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Give me about twenty to thirty second, son, what's going
- 52:00Speaker 3: on with the half of McCoy Trail that's kind of
- 52:02Speaker 3: your baby out there out in Tornado.
- 52:04Speaker 9: It's booming. It's booming.
- 52:06Speaker 17: We've got people coming in from Kentucky, Ohio, New York.
- 52:09Speaker 17: It's bringing a lot of investment in and I know
- 52:11Speaker 17: the city of Saint Abvin's is excited about how many
- 52:13Speaker 17: people they've seen at their restaurants at the hotels.
- 52:15Speaker 9: So let's continue to do that.
- 52:17Speaker 17: In twenty twenty five and I'm excited to be a
- 52:19Speaker 17: part of it with Commissioner Slango and Commissioner Tenant all.
