- 0:00Speaker 1: Here's more of the Mark Simon Show on wo R. Well.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Bill O'Reilly, of course, the number one television anchor in
- 0:10Speaker 2: America for decades, the number one best selling author nonfiction
- 0:14Speaker 2: author in the world for years, and he's got a
- 0:18Speaker 2: you know, you can watch the TV show, get the column.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Everything's at billoreilly dot com. But he's got a great
- 0:25Speaker 2: new podcast called We'll Do It Live. Latest episodes Janine Piro.
- 0:29Speaker 2: But I'll go watch all the episodes We'll Do It
- 0:31Speaker 2: Live and check out Bill O'Reilly's YouTube channel. Great content there,
- 0:37Speaker 2: Bill O'Reilly. How you doing.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I'm pretty exhausted after that intro, Simone. I didn't know
- 0:43Speaker 1: I was doing all that.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yeah, not only that, you've been in the middle of
- 0:49Speaker 2: combat before, and then Saturday night, you're standing in the
- 0:52Speaker 2: Washington Hilton ballroom. You were right near those gunshots, weren't you.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I was right at the back door, and I
- 1:00Speaker 1: heard those gunshots pretty clearly and looked up the escalator
- 1:06Speaker 1: that's the only way down into the ballroom, and I
- 1:10Speaker 1: knew there was a frank is going on upstairs. But
- 1:14Speaker 1: everybody dove under the table. You know, in hindsight, I
- 1:18Speaker 1: did not dive under the table. I wish I had
- 1:21Speaker 1: I would have been there with Wolf Blitzer. Maybe we
- 1:24Speaker 1: could have had a chat. And he was deeply embedded
- 1:28Speaker 1: under the table. You know, I never for one second
- 1:34Speaker 1: thought I was going to hit the carpet. You know,
- 1:37Speaker 1: it's a story. You got to see the story. And
- 1:40Speaker 1: then it happens so rapidly because after the gunshots couldn't
- 1:45Speaker 1: have been more than twenty seconds with the Secret Service
- 1:49Speaker 1: con barreling through the doors and down the aisle to
- 1:55Speaker 1: whisk President Trump away. So I hope everybody enjoyoid themselves
- 2:01Speaker 1: under the table.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Well, now, but you were a war correspondent in the
- 2:06Speaker 2: middle of the Falkland's battles. You were in the middle
- 2:09Speaker 2: covering riots. But so you're a trained war correspondent. But
- 2:14Speaker 2: if you're a TV anchor from MS now you've never
- 2:17Speaker 2: been through that. So I guess that's why they were
- 2:19Speaker 2: under the table. They didn't know what else to do.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I just don't think I'm smart enough to go into
- 2:24Speaker 1: the table. That's my son said to me, So you're
- 2:27Speaker 1: going to get your head balloon off. I said, Look,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I've been trying to do it for fifty years, so anyway,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't I'm making fun of the people who hit
- 2:39Speaker 1: the ground, but they did the right thing. Yeah, you
- 2:42Speaker 1: want to get out of the fire zone, But my
- 2:46Speaker 1: first instinct is always to cover the story.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, just explained to people that ballroom the way
- 2:52Speaker 2: it's set up. The tables are crammed together like you can't. Yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 2: you can barely walk between them. It's tough to get
- 2:58Speaker 2: out of that room.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Two thousand people in the ballroom, three thousand people upstairs
- 3:05Speaker 1: in the hotel rooms, five thousand all together. Nobody can
- 3:09Speaker 1: control a crowd like that. Nobody. This was my I
- 3:13Speaker 1: think sixth dinner that I went to, And you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I never really said, like some people did, well the
- 3:25Speaker 1: security is this or that. I thought it was pretty
- 3:27Speaker 1: well designed. That guy had no chance to get down
- 3:31Speaker 1: a stairway into the ballroom none, So he's alone, and
- 3:37Speaker 1: he had to know that if he cased the place.
- 3:41Speaker 1: The news is no way that he was going to
- 3:43Speaker 1: get down into the main lobby and then get down
- 3:46Speaker 1: an escalator. Whether we're eighteen checkpoints with secret Service in
- 3:52Speaker 1: US marshals, there's no way it could happen. But he
- 3:56Speaker 1: wanted to inject a terrifying scenario. He did.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but would you agree there's no way to ever
- 4:04Speaker 2: hold that event in a hotel with people.
- 4:06Speaker 1: That will never happen again and then also get trumps
- 4:09Speaker 1: ballroom billed. Yeah, because it's too risky. Now there's just
- 4:15Speaker 1: too many crazy people all over the place, and there
- 4:18Speaker 1: are and my theory of social media is responsible for
- 4:23Speaker 1: most of that, or much of it, but it's exacerbated
- 4:27Speaker 1: by television and you know, crazy idea logs all over
- 4:31Speaker 1: the place, not just on the left, but that's the
- 4:35Speaker 1: primary melting pot for them right now.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Hey, with that ballroom, you know, the President says, well,
- 4:41Speaker 2: the East Room, you can only get to one hundred
- 4:43Speaker 2: and forty. This will do two thousand people. Has he
- 4:45Speaker 2: thought about you also have to have parking spaces for
- 4:48Speaker 2: two thousand cars. I don't think he thought about that part,
- 4:50Speaker 2: did he?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Well, are you talking about the White Room at the
- 4:55Speaker 1: White House? Yeah, now you get there's no parking. You
- 4:58Speaker 1: gotta walk it. So you want to go to the
- 5:01Speaker 1: White Houses, no parking, You get out of your uber
- 5:05Speaker 1: or wherever you're going and you walk in. So don't
- 5:08Speaker 1: to worry about that. There was parking at the hotel
- 5:13Speaker 1: underneath it. But I don't believe that was a fact
- 5:17Speaker 1: that this guy got dropped off from the train station.
- 5:21Speaker 1: He went from Chicago to DC on the train, got
- 5:29Speaker 1: off the train, lugged his gear, checked into the hotel
- 5:32Speaker 1: a day before, and you know, obviously it was planned out,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but it was pretty poorly planned out.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So half an hour after the gunshots, what was going
- 5:42Speaker 2: on the bottom? Were people still there? And when did
- 5:44Speaker 2: you leave?
- 5:46Speaker 1: I left after I couldn't get any more information because
- 5:52Speaker 1: I had befriended a US marshall who was giving me
- 5:57Speaker 1: pretty good information. At the point I went along the
- 6:00Speaker 1: News Nation, their correspondence were on the air. I didn't
- 6:04Speaker 1: want to hot shot it, uh so I gave them
- 6:07Speaker 1: the info that I had. So I was there, I
- 6:11Speaker 1: would say about twenty minutes watching journalist steel wine off
- 6:15Speaker 1: the table, which they did. They absolutely did. And uh
- 6:22Speaker 1: then everybody filed out and the stake and lobster was
- 6:26Speaker 1: donated to almost I guess food places, which is which
- 6:32Speaker 1: is fine, But the whole thing was surrealed to a
- 6:36Speaker 1: lot of people. In fact, they got a follow up
- 6:38Speaker 1: call the next day from News Nation and he goes,
- 6:41Speaker 1: are you're okay? I said, Look, I spent time in
- 6:45Speaker 1: el Salvador Jungles. This wasn't even close to that. Okay,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I'm fine, but thanks for asking.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Hey, let's change subjects. Bill O'Reilly. Jimmy Kimmel, you're the
- 6:58Speaker 2: chairman of Disney. What would you do? Would you take
- 7:00Speaker 2: him off the air?
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know the first time that Kimmel got into this
- 7:05Speaker 1: kind of trouble with Charlie Kirk and I cut him
- 7:08Speaker 1: a little slack, and I was wrong in doing that.
- 7:12Speaker 1: The guy's just a hater. So my question is to Disney,
- 7:16Speaker 1: not to Jimmy Kimmel. Why is he on the air.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So if you had a conservative, a right winger every
- 7:23Speaker 1: night spouting hate against somebody on the left, you think
- 7:28Speaker 1: that person be on the air. No, yeah, okay, So
- 7:32Speaker 1: I'd like an explanation from Disney why this man is
- 7:36Speaker 1: on the air. Not funny, not a satirist. He's just
- 7:40Speaker 1: there to mean the president in the Office of the Presidency.
- 7:45Speaker 1: That's all he's there to do. He's got a very
- 7:48Speaker 1: small audience, less than two million. Okay, Why is he
- 7:52Speaker 1: there for what reason? Disney? I'm asking Disney, and they
- 7:58Speaker 1: don't have a reason. I mean, this has hurt their business,
- 8:02Speaker 1: so what the deuce are you doing now. I'm not
- 8:05Speaker 1: a big censorship guys. You know, people thrown off the
- 8:10Speaker 1: air because they mock politicians. I mock politicians all the time.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But this guy is not in business to mock. He's
- 8:17Speaker 1: in business to hurt.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody put their sponsor list up, and I don't
- 8:22Speaker 2: believe in sponsor boycott. You shouldn't do that. But I'm
- 8:25Speaker 2: looking at the list. McDonald's chevy. Why are they advertising
- 8:28Speaker 2: on a show like that.
- 8:30Speaker 1: They bought Bogue, which in the television industry then don't
- 8:34Speaker 1: even know what they're buying. Yeah, they buy prime time,
- 8:39Speaker 1: they buy late night, they buy mornings. They're not going, oh,
- 8:43Speaker 1: let's advertise on Jimmy Kimmel. That doesn't happen. However, they
- 8:49Speaker 1: know they're on Jimmy Kimmel. The sponsors know, and they
- 8:57Speaker 1: don't care. And that's the big thing. Disney does not
- 9:02Speaker 1: care about this at all. If it did, Kima would
- 9:05Speaker 1: have been, you know, gone into Albuquerque after the Kirk thing.
- 9:13Speaker 1: They don't care.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Hey, big ceremonies for King Charles Dinners receptions. I
- 9:20Speaker 2: see all the Democrats there, Pelosi. What happened to this
- 9:23Speaker 2: no kings thing? They're all over slabbering all over King Charles.
- 9:27Speaker 1: They love the King. I kind of like him. I
- 9:30Speaker 1: never met him, but you know, as an Irish Catholic,
- 9:34Speaker 1: we don't we take a Jim view of the British Royalty,
- 9:39Speaker 1: that's for sure. But I don't think he's a bad man.
- 9:44Speaker 1: He's done some good environmental work. I think he's got
- 9:47Speaker 1: problems with his kids, as everybody does. So he's over here,
- 9:52Speaker 1: but he's only here for one reason, and that's to
- 9:54Speaker 1: patch up the NATO thing with Trump. That's the only
- 9:59Speaker 1: reason he's here, and I hope they do. We need
- 10:03Speaker 1: the UK as our ally.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Hey Bill O'Reilly, you can go to Bill O'Reilly dot com.
- 10:08Speaker 2: You can see his TV show, get his column the
- 10:10Speaker 2: Message of the Day, watch his YouTube channel. There's great
- 10:14Speaker 2: content there and I love the new podcast We'll do
- 10:16Speaker 2: It Live. The latest one is Janine Piro and what
- 10:20Speaker 2: else you got coming up on there?
- 10:23Speaker 1: We go week to week about I'm trying to contemporize it.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So we got lucky with Piro because she's deeply involved
- 10:33Speaker 1: now in the prosecution of this assassin and people don't
- 10:39Speaker 1: really understand what she was doing there and what her
- 10:42Speaker 1: title was. Get lucky. But what I try to do
- 10:45Speaker 1: is we don't book ahead too much anymore. We're trying
- 10:50Speaker 1: to get right, cutting edge stuff and it's really working well.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I got a little plaque simone from YouTube congratulating me
- 10:59Speaker 1: for a million subs in record time, and now we
- 11:04Speaker 1: have close to two million. And the reason is that,
- 11:08Speaker 1: you know, when I interview somebody, it's no bs, I'm
- 11:11Speaker 1: a waste of your time. I'm getting where we're supposed
- 11:14Speaker 1: to get. And with that amount of time, Uh, it's
- 11:18Speaker 1: kind of fun because you can go a lot of
- 11:20Speaker 1: different places.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Well, it's very good stuff. Everybody go to Bill O'Reilly
- 11:24Speaker 2: on YouTube. Bill O'Reilly on YouTube, and we're going to
- 11:28Speaker 2: get your third plaque to make sure you.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yes, we need as many plaques as we can get.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Bill O'Reilly on YouTube, and then billoreilly dot com. You
- 11:38Speaker 2: get everything else there. Hey, rumor, is you got another
- 11:41Speaker 2: book you're working on?
- 11:43Speaker 1: Yeah, confronting America? What has to change? And uh, beyond
- 11:49Speaker 1: mid September, that's when we try to do. Each September,
- 11:53Speaker 1: we try to drop a book. I don't have many more.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I'm going to do that. It's hard with this one.
- 11:59Speaker 1: You really tough to write. But it links in my experience,
- 12:05Speaker 1: personal experience running around the world and meeting on these
- 12:10Speaker 1: people with how to solve the problems that are vexing
- 12:16Speaker 1: the United States. And I think people will enjoy it
- 12:19Speaker 1: because it's not just like, well, we got to do this,
- 12:22Speaker 1: this and this. I was here, This is what happened,
- 12:27Speaker 1: this is screwed up, this is who did well? You
- 12:31Speaker 1: know bum. Their storytelling involves here. So if it's the
- 12:36Speaker 1: last book, I'm going out on fire.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's never the last book. You always say that there'll
- 12:42Speaker 2: be many more books coming. But everybody, Hey, check out
- 12:45Speaker 2: Bill O'Reilly on YouTube, watch the new podcast We'll Do
- 12:48Speaker 2: It Live. Go to Bill oreilly dot com and get
- 12:51Speaker 2: everything there links to everything there. Bill O'Reilly, thanks for
- 12:54Speaker 2: being with us.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Guys are having me Mark rather, I appreciate it.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Take care coming up, don't forget at noon, Buck Sexton, Clay, Travis,
- 13:04Speaker 2: and I most of you probably know, but in case
- 13:08Speaker 2: you don't know, Curtis Sliwa is back. He's here every morning.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It's Curtisliwa and Larry Mentee every morning six to ten
- 13:15Speaker 2: on seven ten WR
