- 0:29Speaker 1: Unfiltered Deuce. When you have a sneeze bruin, does it
- 0:33Speaker 1: come out black and gold? You said you had a
- 0:36Speaker 1: sneeze bruin like the Bruins. I got it. Took me
- 0:39Speaker 1: a second. There she's wearing red all this week. She's
- 0:42Speaker 1: and that's a shiny red. That's like Fall's disco shirt.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I'll grace all of you by wearing my
- 0:48Speaker 1: purple singlet on the days comes. It just slaps his ups.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Not exactly what happened. How did the pat Patriot hummets
- 0:58Speaker 1: look out there to that? Yeah? Yeah, what would you
- 1:02Speaker 1: say the difference in the mood between outdoor and indoor?
- 1:06Speaker 1: I would say to see him like a good question,
- 1:11Speaker 1: because keeps trying to answer the question legitimately. Yeah, I
- 1:14Speaker 1: feel better if Mac was one hundred percent healthy. I
- 1:17Speaker 1: can't argue with that. No, I'm serious starting I'd feel
- 1:20Speaker 1: better if he if he never played again. Of course
- 1:22Speaker 1: i'd feel better if he was healthy. But how many
- 1:25Speaker 1: teams are picking top ten year? Like, if you need
- 1:27Speaker 1: a quarterback? Ten? This is Patriots Unfiltered fueled by Duncan.
- 1:35Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:39Speaker 1: at Jileste Stadium. So it's a big day. We got picks,
- 1:42Speaker 1: We got to talk about the Lions and Matt that
- 1:44Speaker 1: World's Original podcast. I think whenever somebody makes like a
- 1:48Speaker 1: hot take or a good point, we should play that afterwards.
- 1:51Speaker 1: That's like, that's sort of like our calling card. I
- 1:53Speaker 1: love it like that to punctuated. Yeah, this isn't just
- 1:56Speaker 1: coming from any podcast. This is the World's Original. That's
- 1:59Speaker 1: going to turn into my right there you go. So
- 2:05Speaker 1: it's an underrated line by you yesterday. What Mic goes?
- 2:09Speaker 1: How many teams you think of picking in the top ten?
- 2:11Speaker 1: You go ten? I didn't appreciate that. It's a very
- 2:16Speaker 1: very very underrated line right there. I think that one
- 2:18Speaker 1: kind of got overlooked a little bit. Jab me, it's
- 2:20Speaker 1: all right, that's all right, all right, So it's Paul,
- 2:23Speaker 1: it's me, it's Deuce, it's Matt in the booth um.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I don't know if anyone else will be joining us,
- 2:28Speaker 1: but we'll get Evan will be enough to practice, so
- 2:30Speaker 1: he'll he'll check out. He'll give us a report on
- 2:32Speaker 1: mac Jones and his uh, his ankle. What's he doing
- 2:35Speaker 1: out there? Is he getting better? We'll see. And the
- 2:37Speaker 1: reviews are in for Catch twenty two, are they And
- 2:40Speaker 1: they're all glowing graves excellent. Yeah, yeah, it was grave,
- 2:43Speaker 1: it was fun. So they're off to a fast start. Reviews,
- 2:46Speaker 1: fast start. Let's see they can keep it up. You know,
- 2:48Speaker 1: it's a big thing. It's about consistency, it's about honor,
- 2:51Speaker 1: stacking days, stacking days. Who's honor our? Runner, Fred, who's
- 2:54Speaker 1: honor our? Honor, my honor? You honor your family's honor?
- 2:59Speaker 1: That worst quarter? Are we gonna get? What's going on there? Yeah?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Poor poor Tom, Poor Thomas. He just wants to play
- 3:07Speaker 1: football and have a family. Can't he have both? Not
- 3:10Speaker 1: that we spend any time really talking about Tom Brady's marriage,
- 3:13Speaker 1: but do you think this has anything at all to
- 3:16Speaker 1: do with the fact that he won't stop playing like, yes,
- 3:19Speaker 1: that's there's there's a much I'm sorry you don't get
- 3:22Speaker 1: divorced because your your husband is working and I know
- 3:25Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like a real job because it's football,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but that's not why they're getting unless they had an agreement.
- 3:30Speaker 1: He went back on, like, I have no doubt that
- 3:32Speaker 1: that's a big part of like the so I'm I'm
- 3:38Speaker 1: one that that was that that was a Paul like
- 3:42Speaker 1: flippant thing to say. But I mean, you can't be
- 3:45Speaker 1: one hundred percent in love with your your spouse and
- 3:49Speaker 1: then say, well, you said that you were going to
- 3:51Speaker 1: stop this year, you're not, okay, I'm going to get
- 3:53Speaker 1: a divorce. I just don't think it works like that. Yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 1: there's there's a lot probably going on, so of course,
- 3:59Speaker 1: but I also I wonder that at the heart of
- 4:01Speaker 1: it is there. I don't want to go into it.
- 4:02Speaker 1: But you know, like he said he was gonna retire,
- 4:04Speaker 1: Like was she on that decision or did he just
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna retire And then actually, no, I feel sorry
- 4:10Speaker 1: for those kids. Yeah, you know, it's always the kids
- 4:13Speaker 1: that I mean, Talma, those kids. Oh, I thought you
- 4:17Speaker 1: meant they're actual kids about them? Oh, kidding. It's like
- 4:22Speaker 1: a whole reversal like Angry Friends keep and I care
- 4:27Speaker 1: about the kids World's original podcast The World. So the
- 4:36Speaker 1: the injury report came out, Freddy, Yeah, I have that
- 4:39Speaker 1: in front of me. Ye see that on the camera. Yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 1: And I don't like Lawrence. Guy isn't there. Well, the
- 4:46Speaker 1: entirety of the Detroit Lions weren't there. Yeah, Like take
- 4:49Speaker 1: a breath, deep breath, wow. Um, these are just guys
- 4:52Speaker 1: that didn't practice. DJ Chark, t J Hawkinson, Frank rack Now,
- 4:57Speaker 1: Josh Reynolds, I'm on Ross, Saint Brown, DeAndre Swift. That's
- 5:01Speaker 1: not all of them, but every one of those guys
- 5:04Speaker 1: is an important player. It didn't practice at all. Now,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I don't know it doesn't. They're all listed with injuries,
- 5:09Speaker 1: so I'm not you know, sometimes you get the well,
- 5:12Speaker 1: that's Wednesday, guys banged up a little bit. We're gonna
- 5:15Speaker 1: give him a day arrest, but we expect him to play.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I don't None of these guys say rest. It all says,
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know, ankle, ankle, shoulder, ankles, that that's uh, DeAndre
- 5:26Speaker 1: Swift shoulder and ankle, Um Hockinson his hip, too many
- 5:31Speaker 1: balls and there's some other guys in here too, like
- 5:35Speaker 1: Evan Brown and Chris Board. You know, so like Frank
- 5:38Speaker 1: ragnow is the starting center. The other center, Evan Brown
- 5:41Speaker 1: is listed as did not participate in practice. Um so yeah,
- 5:44Speaker 1: they have a lot of injuries too. But yeah, Lawrence
- 5:47Speaker 1: guy Um was among the guys not practicing yesterday with
- 5:51Speaker 1: his shoulder, which I kind of alluded to, like he
- 5:55Speaker 1: if he had some limited practices last week, I'd have
- 5:58Speaker 1: more um confidence of him being available now. This also
- 6:02Speaker 1: could have been one of those deals where it was
- 6:04Speaker 1: kind of a walkthrough and maybe it wasn't really a
- 6:08Speaker 1: lot to be He didn't really get to do anything anyway,
- 6:11Speaker 1: but we'll see he was essially, it's the opposite usually
- 6:14Speaker 1: in the usually in the walkthroughs, everybody's there. Well everybody
- 6:18Speaker 1: he was there. Everybody was there, step of Brian Hoyer. Yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 1: it can be deceiving two with like guys like Thornton.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know what the situation Thornton. He
- 6:25Speaker 1: was there, so that starts it. I don't know. I
- 6:28Speaker 1: believe that as it's always dangerous to just kind of
- 6:31Speaker 1: take what you see on Twitter as fact. But I'm
- 6:34Speaker 1: not sure if they have to officially and I didn't
- 6:36Speaker 1: see the wire yesterday. I didn't check the wire last night.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I don't know if they have to officially start the clock.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I know a lot of people said the clock has
- 6:44Speaker 1: officially begun, so that they'll have just some people know
- 6:47Speaker 1: what we're talking about. You have three weeks from now,
- 6:49Speaker 1: so it would be week five, six, and seven, and
- 6:51Speaker 1: then if they don't activate him, then he stays on
- 6:54Speaker 1: IR for the remainder. I heard a report this morning
- 6:57Speaker 1: that Thornton was wearing a red nonco contact jersey, but
- 7:01Speaker 1: I thought he was wearing a sweatshirt. Yeah. Yeah, that's
- 7:05Speaker 1: the pictures that I saw showed him in a sweatshirt, right,
- 7:07Speaker 1: So how did anyone know that he had a red
- 7:09Speaker 1: contact jersey? I don't know. Yeah, but it's weird for
- 7:14Speaker 1: a walk through two to wear. I mean, I guess
- 7:15Speaker 1: maybe when a guy's coming back, you start him out
- 7:17Speaker 1: in a red jersey. Anyway, anybody away from he's the
- 7:20Speaker 1: epitome of red non contact he's coming off of. Maybe
- 7:24Speaker 1: it's just in honor of red throwback. Yes, hey, yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I'm all for it. Yeah, lots of stuff, But I
- 7:30Speaker 1: wouldn't expect him this week would you guys know? Um,
- 7:33Speaker 1: but no way. There's a juicy little topic that we
- 7:38Speaker 1: can get into that. Kendrick Bourne is having a hard
- 7:42Speaker 1: time getting consistent snaps. When he does get them, he
- 7:45Speaker 1: tends to produce with them. Nelson Agalore has gotten some snaps,
- 7:50Speaker 1: has produced, but also made some bad plays. Had to
- 7:53Speaker 1: drop in this last game, He's had a couple of
- 7:55Speaker 1: fumbles and prior games. How do you who loses snaps
- 8:00Speaker 1: for Taekwon? Yeah? I think look at if you look
- 8:04Speaker 1: at history of this team, Thornton will not come right
- 8:08Speaker 1: in and take away snaps from Agalore. It'll be he'll
- 8:11Speaker 1: get maybe three or four plays in a game and
- 8:16Speaker 1: maybe he'll build from that, but he won't come right in.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He won't come right in as a rookie, I would agree.
- 8:21Speaker 1: What do you feel I feel like I would consider
- 8:24Speaker 1: putting him in for Parker? I mean I think, as well,
- 8:27Speaker 1: what's Parker done him wrong? Well, not that he's done
- 8:30Speaker 1: any Parker's gotten the most snaps out all of those right, Yeah,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and that's why you know, and hasn't been overly productive.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I mean they've targeted him. Okay, so maybe three or
- 8:39Speaker 1: four snaps he gets them from park it right, you know, well,
- 8:43Speaker 1: but I mean I think if you just look at
- 8:45Speaker 1: Thornton in a bubble, you know what, what is he
- 8:47Speaker 1: probably gonna do coming in? He's probably gonna play on
- 8:49Speaker 1: the outside and use his speed to stretch to the defense.
- 8:52Speaker 1: He'll do some comeback stuff we saw them throw, you know,
- 8:54Speaker 1: a little bit of of the of the Parker route,
- 8:57Speaker 1: tree cutting in, you know, those kind of little plays.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Two from himself. I don't know. I would just say
- 9:01Speaker 1: in the middle of the field, where Parker's maybe more
- 9:03Speaker 1: of a red zone guy, put Thornton out there when
- 9:05Speaker 1: you're in between the twenties, use his speed, and you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: just try to get him involved. This doesn't mean that
- 9:09Speaker 1: he has to take all of Javante Parker's snaps, but
- 9:12Speaker 1: I think, you know, when you're in certain situations, you
- 9:15Speaker 1: mix it up a little bit, so maybe they lose
- 9:16Speaker 1: track of Parker you get down to the nineteen and
- 9:18Speaker 1: then it's you know, contested catchy. I mean, I like
- 9:22Speaker 1: your thoughts, and we're all just sort of throwing it
- 9:25Speaker 1: out there because who knows what Bill is going to
- 9:27Speaker 1: do ultimately. But I also wonder, and I made the
- 9:31Speaker 1: comment at the start of the season. I wonder if
- 9:34Speaker 1: they look at it, if everybody's healthy, and you know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: you made me make a deal for Kendrick Bourne, who
- 9:40Speaker 1: can't seem to establish himself as a big part of
- 9:44Speaker 1: the offense. Every week again in twenty odd snaps, he
- 9:47Speaker 1: tends to catch a couple of passes and we don't
- 9:50Speaker 1: know why he's not getting more of a look than that,
- 9:52Speaker 1: but clearly that's what they want to do it, Mike.
- 9:54Speaker 1: It doesn't really increased right deadlines this month right after
- 9:59Speaker 1: we gate, I built a week eighty early November problem.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It's usually around the Halloween time, you know, in that area,
- 10:05Speaker 1: So you have a few more weeks. I'm wondering if
- 10:08Speaker 1: let's let's say that no one gets traded, no wide
- 10:10Speaker 1: receiver gets traded, If in Jacoby Myers comes back and
- 10:15Speaker 1: everybody's healthy, I wonder if they look at it and say,
- 10:18Speaker 1: everybody's healthy, we really don't have a spot. Yeah, and
- 10:22Speaker 1: Whatton ends up staying on I R, which I would
- 10:24Speaker 1: find incredibly disappointing. Oh yeah, I would be very much
- 10:28Speaker 1: against that. Well, okay, so let's say you're going to
- 10:31Speaker 1: write a strongly worded letter. Yeah, does does that have
- 10:36Speaker 1: anything to do with the record at the time the
- 10:38Speaker 1: decision needs to be made. That's a great that's a
- 10:41Speaker 1: great point too. I Mean, all these factors come in.
- 10:43Speaker 1: If they're you know, if they rebound the way a
- 10:47Speaker 1: lot of us expect them to, then yeah, you can,
- 10:50Speaker 1: you could probably get away with that. But if they
- 10:52Speaker 1: don't think of the opposite, if they see if they struggle,
- 10:56Speaker 1: then you want to get your young guys some time. Well,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I always think of the opposite. If if you're if
- 11:01Speaker 1: you see no hope for the season, let's keep him
- 11:03Speaker 1: an eye on the hope. Then like, let's get him.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I looked at it. If you see no hope for
- 11:08Speaker 1: the season. Let's say they lose this week and next week, okay, disastrous, Right,
- 11:12Speaker 1: you're one in five, right right, you're kind of out
- 11:14Speaker 1: of it. Then I want to get him out there,
- 11:17Speaker 1: and I want to lessen the roles for like Aglare
- 11:19Speaker 1: and Myers who are pending free agents. Yeah, that's and
- 11:23Speaker 1: that's the big point for me. I mean, I unfortunately,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I mean I think Nelson Aglare has looked pretty good.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I mean, I know he's made some mistakes, but I
- 11:29Speaker 1: just going back to camp, he looks fast, he looks involved,
- 11:32Speaker 1: he looks you know, invested, but I still can't help
- 11:35Speaker 1: but look at him as a lame duck kind of player.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I don't I'm struggling to see them resign him. I
- 11:40Speaker 1: think in a perfect world, Thornton slips into that role
- 11:42Speaker 1: and you resign Myers. So I don't think it really
- 11:46Speaker 1: matters about the record. I just think this is this
- 11:47Speaker 1: team is all about. We need to find really good
- 11:50Speaker 1: star players. And you have a player with elite speed
- 11:53Speaker 1: that showed a lot in training camp. Just get him
- 11:55Speaker 1: out there. I don't care if you win the next two,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you lose, the next two, you tie the next two.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Put him out there, get him experienced. So next year
- 12:02Speaker 1: you come in and you say, all right, yeah we
- 12:03Speaker 1: lost Agalore. But Thornton showed a lot after he came
- 12:06Speaker 1: back from the injury. He's bringing an element of speed.
- 12:09Speaker 1: You know, we can do some different things with him
- 12:10Speaker 1: that I mean, that would be be my thought. I
- 12:12Speaker 1: just get him out there, as I would. I would
- 12:14Speaker 1: rather see him out there, um, no question. But I'm
- 12:17Speaker 1: just wondering if you don't get if it doesn't you know,
- 12:22Speaker 1: become completely apparent, how you get him in there? Like
- 12:25Speaker 1: is it just adding a wide receiver and then just
- 12:27Speaker 1: saying we got to find a way to get them all. Sometime,
- 12:29Speaker 1: does little Jordan Humphrey go, you know, I don't know,
- 12:33Speaker 1: you cut him and put him back on the practice
- 12:34Speaker 1: squad or something. I don't. I don't, I don't have to.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It's a but that's an interesting thing, Paul, you bring
- 12:40Speaker 1: up because as much a problem as Humphrey hasn't been productive,
- 12:43Speaker 1: they clearly like him for a role that others can't
- 12:47Speaker 1: do right, So how do you kind of balance a
- 12:49Speaker 1: role player but a lack of production. How do you
- 12:52Speaker 1: get Thornton? Because the running game has been question because like,
- 12:56Speaker 1: how do you get Thornton snaps? They can't get born
- 12:58Speaker 1: snaps or they don't want to, depending on how you
- 13:01Speaker 1: look at it. And again I'm not telling I'm not
- 13:03Speaker 1: coming at you with oh yeah, you know. This is
- 13:06Speaker 1: that they're doing this right, they're doing this wrong. This
- 13:09Speaker 1: is I don't know how they feel about all these guys.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm just going by our age old thing of what
- 13:14Speaker 1: we see, and what we see is Agalore and Parker
- 13:18Speaker 1: involved all the time. Myers is the number one guy
- 13:21Speaker 1: in the first two games when he was healthy right right.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I don't think they're going anywhere now. Maybe that'll change, maybe,
- 13:28Speaker 1: you know, Agalore, I think some of these mistakes are
- 13:31Speaker 1: starting to pile up. I thought that was a bad
- 13:33Speaker 1: drop this week. I thought he could have cut. I
- 13:35Speaker 1: thought that was Bailey Zappie's best pass. Yeah, you got
- 13:37Speaker 1: to catch that for the rookie. Yeah. I also just
- 13:40Speaker 1: say though too to Bourn, like he look good last
- 13:43Speaker 1: week to me, like he's quick, you know, Like I
- 13:45Speaker 1: just I think there's something there that they can use.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I just wish they would find We saw it last
- 13:49Speaker 1: week with the reverse. But he just has a knack
- 13:51Speaker 1: for cutting the ball up and when he gets in
- 13:53Speaker 1: his hands, he tends to be you know, I don't
- 13:55Speaker 1: think that he's a burner by any stretch of the imagination.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I don't think off the line he's given anybody problems,
- 13:59Speaker 1: but he's looking to make extra yards. Does he just
- 14:02Speaker 1: has a knack when he has the ball in his
- 14:03Speaker 1: hands of no one where to go, and you know,
- 14:05Speaker 1: knowing how to how to maximize the carries. So it's
- 14:09Speaker 1: it's tough. It's a great question, I think. And uh,
- 14:11Speaker 1: And the more the more we talk about it, the
- 14:13Speaker 1: more I lean into Parker, you know, eat into his
- 14:17Speaker 1: snaps a little bit, telling you if we could get
- 14:19Speaker 1: some production out of our tight end. And now I
- 14:21Speaker 1: know John who Smith's hurt, you know, so we're really
- 14:24Speaker 1: we're down to one. But if I think we've got
- 14:27Speaker 1: some pieces on offense, and I started the season saying
- 14:30Speaker 1: this and I'm gonna stick to it, We've got the
- 14:32Speaker 1: pieces on offense to be good, you know, definitely, thank you.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I think we need one at least one where we
- 14:41Speaker 1: just overdo it. I think today's the day just fire
- 14:44Speaker 1: at Will Morrell, like, I mean, we need to, like,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know, put this out. But you know, now, you know,
- 14:48Speaker 1: obviously we took a step back because we're now down
- 14:50Speaker 1: to our third string quarterback. But I think we've got
- 14:53Speaker 1: the pieces on offense to be good. Well, I think that.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I Mean, the question I'm wondering is why is the
- 14:58Speaker 1: lack of production at tight like it just it seems
- 15:01Speaker 1: is it a scheme thing? Is it a quarterback thing?
- 15:04Speaker 1: You know? Is the is the intention to push the
- 15:06Speaker 1: ball down the field eating into some of those snaps.
- 15:09Speaker 1: But I mean I think there's been a good number
- 15:11Speaker 1: of times, you know, over these four games that you've
- 15:14Speaker 1: looked at some key plays and said, oh, I think
- 15:18Speaker 1: I think it's because teams can man up on us
- 15:22Speaker 1: and you know, like some teams, uh so, so you
- 15:26Speaker 1: can flood the middle. You can have like two guys
- 15:28Speaker 1: in the middle, whereas you know a lot of times
- 15:30Speaker 1: you just see the tight ends kind of wide open
- 15:32Speaker 1: down the middle because guys on the outside, you know,
- 15:36Speaker 1: bag attention. I think right now guys can play man
- 15:41Speaker 1: up out on the outside, and so the tight end, Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 1: the the middle is clogged, and uh maybe that changes
- 15:49Speaker 1: when Thornton's here, if he plays, you know, because he
- 15:52Speaker 1: is so fast that you know that safety has to
- 15:55Speaker 1: pay a little attention to him and can't stay you
- 15:58Speaker 1: know home, uh in the middle. Yeah. So I just
- 16:03Speaker 1: think it's I see other teams with guys who aren't
- 16:06Speaker 1: that great. You know, they're decent tight ends, and you
- 16:09Speaker 1: know they're making one or two catches like an averaging
- 16:13Speaker 1: like twelve yards a catch. You know. Yeah, like that's
- 16:16Speaker 1: all I'm looking for right now. I know that it's
- 16:18Speaker 1: just a disconnect because it's I mean, it reminds me
- 16:20Speaker 1: of twenty nineteen when it was like they had nothing.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Yeah nothing, that's a good that's a good point, Like
- 16:25Speaker 1: when you have Ryan Izzo in Sorry, Matt Lacosse and
- 16:30Speaker 1: you're not getting a lot of production, you can say
- 16:32Speaker 1: you can understand that when you have two fifty million
- 16:34Speaker 1: dollars tight ends and Hunter Henry and John H. Smith,
- 16:36Speaker 1: you should be able to get at least, you know,
- 16:38Speaker 1: a couple of plays a week, and they're really not. No,
- 16:41Speaker 1: they're really not getting any plays. I meant, you know,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Smith has a handful of catches, but he's not making
- 16:45Speaker 1: any plays with them, and Henry's and after that it's
- 16:47Speaker 1: not even getting tired. You agree, Like you watch NFL,
- 16:50Speaker 1: you know, and there's always that tight end that's like
- 16:53Speaker 1: downfield twenty yards. I just would need to know, like
- 16:56Speaker 1: who you're talking about games in the NFL. No, No,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I know, and I get it, and I don't I
- 17:02Speaker 1: agree with you. I'm not arguing with you, but like,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I think that's something that would need to be sort
- 17:07Speaker 1: of explained on a case by case basis, Like, you know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: it just seems that no matter what game, and like
- 17:13Speaker 1: it's not a lot of plays, like there's like Mark
- 17:15Speaker 1: Edwards burned us, Well, yeah, a lot. I'm not talking
- 17:18Speaker 1: about that. No, you're talking about average to below average
- 17:21Speaker 1: tight ends average tighten. My guess is they have better
- 17:24Speaker 1: wide receivers and quarterbacks. If they're making those kinds of
- 17:27Speaker 1: plays on any kind of a consistent maybe maybe that.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I mean, that's why I said, like, I wonder what
- 17:32Speaker 1: you're talking about. That's kind of my point is that
- 17:34Speaker 1: no one, no one on our team, you know, uh,
- 17:38Speaker 1: demands double cover. They're all kind of I mean, they're
- 17:41Speaker 1: all kind of the same, and that works good. I
- 17:44Speaker 1: think that's a good thing at you know, in a
- 17:46Speaker 1: way and a bad thing. But I think you could
- 17:49Speaker 1: definitely have a lot of different guys that are capable of,
- 17:53Speaker 1: you know, leading the team that week, and that's good.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You know, we've seen Myers have his games, We've seen
- 17:59Speaker 1: part Or had his game against Baltimore. We've seen Agalore
- 18:02Speaker 1: make plays, you know, when Bourne gets out. Like, they're
- 18:05Speaker 1: all capable of making plays. But do you have a
- 18:08Speaker 1: guy that's capable of occupying the other team's attention right right?
- 18:12Speaker 1: And I don't know if they do. Yeah. No, And
- 18:14Speaker 1: that's and that's why anybody's capable of it. And that's
- 18:16Speaker 1: why I'm like, why why haven't the tight ends then,
- 18:18Speaker 1: like you know, they could there should have at least
- 18:20Speaker 1: in here been like one game where they had a
- 18:21Speaker 1: little bit of production. Um, I don't know. They're good
- 18:24Speaker 1: in the red zone. I think that maybe has to
- 18:25Speaker 1: do with it, like not having they haven't been being
- 18:28Speaker 1: able to target Hunter Henry and you know where he
- 18:31Speaker 1: was best last year. But it's just here we are
- 18:34Speaker 1: two years out of signing these two tight ends, and
- 18:36Speaker 1: you just feel like I just looked at us, like
- 18:38Speaker 1: last year he had fifty he had fifty catches and
- 18:40Speaker 1: nine touchdowns. So it wasn't just all red zone. I
- 18:44Speaker 1: mean fifty catches is okay, Like it's not it's not
- 18:47Speaker 1: all pro word. They don't field against Cleveland had fifty
- 18:51Speaker 1: catches and the other guy had like thirty, right, Smith
- 18:54Speaker 1: had like thirty something like that, and now they have
- 18:58Speaker 1: like twelve I think something like they don't even have targets,
- 19:01Speaker 1: Like they don't even get thrown two. It's weird, you know,
- 19:05Speaker 1: I can't I can't quite explain it. I mean it's
- 19:09Speaker 1: you know, now in the last game, you know, everyone
- 19:11Speaker 1: points to that one play in overtime where you know,
- 19:15Speaker 1: Hunter Henry was doing like a shallow cross and he
- 19:18Speaker 1: seemed to uncover right away and Zappy didn't get him
- 19:21Speaker 1: the ball. You know, Um, yeah, I'm not necessarily like
- 19:25Speaker 1: the Green Bay game is not, but like that's you
- 19:28Speaker 1: got a third string quarterback. You gotta take what you get. Yea. Um,
- 19:32Speaker 1: but you know the first three games he was not
- 19:36Speaker 1: targeted really at all. I mean this, I think this
- 19:39Speaker 1: is another fascinating game. It poses a whole different set
- 19:43Speaker 1: of issues for the Patriots and opportunities. You know. I
- 19:48Speaker 1: you know, with Detroit's defense, should you be able to score?
- 19:52Speaker 1: I think you should. But now you go back to
- 19:54Speaker 1: but it's Bailey Zappy, right, How high should our expectations
- 19:58Speaker 1: be for points with him in the game? And you know,
- 20:01Speaker 1: if you have as good an offense as you think
- 20:03Speaker 1: that they do, that they should be able to score. No,
- 20:05Speaker 1: that's with Mac. With Mac, No, but you're talking about
- 20:09Speaker 1: the I didn't say that the beginning of the season,
- 20:11Speaker 1: thinking Bailey Zappy was going to be the quarter No,
- 20:13Speaker 1: And I'm not telling you it's it's fair to just
- 20:15Speaker 1: say they should go out and roll up thirty eight
- 20:17Speaker 1: points every week with Bailey's No, that's not That's not
- 20:20Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But if if, then you have all
- 20:22Speaker 1: of the pieces in place that you think that they do.
- 20:25Speaker 1: If you should be able to score some points against
- 20:27Speaker 1: the worst defense, and if the Yeah, but if the
- 20:29Speaker 1: game plan this week is handoff, handoff, handoff, that's gonna
- 20:32Speaker 1: lim it's gonna it's gonna shorten the game and limit
- 20:35Speaker 1: the points I design. But I'm not. Don't fixate on
- 20:40Speaker 1: the number of points. Fixate on the percentage of drives
- 20:42Speaker 1: that you score. Okay, you know what I mean? Like
- 20:44Speaker 1: if if they scored twenty eight points because they only
- 20:47Speaker 1: had six possessions in the game, I don't know. I
- 20:50Speaker 1: don't need forty right, No, I get you. You know,
- 20:52Speaker 1: if they're putting together like how efficient are Yeah, if
- 20:55Speaker 1: you're putting together a fourteen play touchdown drive and it
- 20:57Speaker 1: took you a long time to score, fine, Okay, Like
- 21:00Speaker 1: I just don't want I don't want to punt six times.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah that's fair. Well, and but you know that begs it.
- 21:07Speaker 1: You know, now your running game has to be effective.
- 21:10Speaker 1: It's got to work, and it should against this team. Yeah. Yeah,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and blitz as much as you look at Detroit and
- 21:20Speaker 1: say this is what we know about their defense, well,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I mean they're going against the third stone quarterbacks. So
- 21:25Speaker 1: I think they're gonna stack the box and say, you're
- 21:28Speaker 1: just not gonna beat us with Harrison Stevenson. And if
- 21:30Speaker 1: you want to throw it down the field on one
- 21:31Speaker 1: on one coverage or you know, you'll have guys that
- 21:33Speaker 1: can break loose deep, good luck try to. And I
- 21:35Speaker 1: would imagine that, you know, regardless of what Zappie knows
- 21:40Speaker 1: up to this point, this week, they're practicing blitz killers, right, Yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 1: there's a package in there for him, you know, to
- 21:48Speaker 1: to kill the blitz. Now, a lot of that has
- 21:52Speaker 1: to do with him recognizing it, you know, because you
- 21:54Speaker 1: can disguise the blitz and you don't know what's coming
- 21:56Speaker 1: and there it is. Yeah, but I would imagine that
- 21:59Speaker 1: they're working on, you know, whether it's screens, draw plays
- 22:03Speaker 1: or you know, just those little rainbow passes over the
- 22:06Speaker 1: first level. I imagine that they're working on plays specifically
- 22:11Speaker 1: to for him to you know, combat the blitz. Yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 1: that's what David Andrews talked about yesterday of Detroit being
- 22:18Speaker 1: a spin the dial blitz kind of team coming from
- 22:20Speaker 1: anywhere they'll send defensive backs. Belichick mentioned that too, So
- 22:23Speaker 1: I agree, and that's you know, but but you also
- 22:27Speaker 1: wonder like how are they going to manage blitz in
- 22:30Speaker 1: the crap out of them? But also you know, not
- 22:32Speaker 1: making sure they get beat deep, you know, Like so
- 22:34Speaker 1: it's it's a little bit of a balancing act for them,
- 22:36Speaker 1: I think, But I don't. I mean, would you really
- 22:38Speaker 1: worry about it? Would you really worry about Hey, let's
- 22:40Speaker 1: just send seven guys on this, but you know, third
- 22:43Speaker 1: and long, Like, if I'm absolutely I do it until
- 22:48Speaker 1: they tell me I can't. Until it proves that he
- 22:50Speaker 1: can pick it up. I would agree, and feel like
- 22:53Speaker 1: you can score too if you're Detroit. So it's not
- 22:55Speaker 1: like you're like, well, we've got a very thin like
- 22:57Speaker 1: if we we you know, they're gonna put up points,
- 22:59Speaker 1: I would get I don't know, I mean, how many
- 23:01Speaker 1: points do you think the Patriots need to play this game? Well,
- 23:05Speaker 1: you know, based on over twenty five twenty five? Yeah, yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I don't think you're gonna like, I don't think you're
- 23:10Speaker 1: winning seventeen thirteen. Right, it's not gonna be a Steelers game, right,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I don't think. I mean, we all you know that
- 23:18Speaker 1: happened to be one that we've got. Right, We've had
- 23:19Speaker 1: a million examples of games that we got wrong. Now
- 23:22Speaker 1: we think it's going to be this kind of game,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and it's completely the opposite. Now, if the tight ends out, Um,
- 23:28Speaker 1: I like our chances a little bit more. Yeah. Sure,
- 23:31Speaker 1: Well if the tight ends out in Saint Brown and
- 23:34Speaker 1: all these worlds last week, if if they're back in
- 23:38Speaker 1: then I don't care about. What I'm saying is if
- 23:40Speaker 1: all those guys on that list are out, Yeah, then
- 23:42Speaker 1: you should be able to slow down this offense. Yeah,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I think they'll hawk. It's I mean, he finished the
- 23:46Speaker 1: game healthy, right, Like I don't know. I would expect,
- 23:49Speaker 1: but you never know, right, you never know. Maybe man
- 23:52Speaker 1: Campbell bid off his kneecap. We'll see today, you know,
- 23:54Speaker 1: you know, Job, when the injury poll comes out today,
- 23:57Speaker 1: maybe a lot of these guys will be listed as limited.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I go back to um. You know, Deuce, you did
- 24:01Speaker 1: your roundtable questions this morning, and I was there, okay
- 24:03Speaker 1: this week, Yeah, I was going to ask him, all right.
- 24:06Speaker 1: One of the questions was what's your key matchup? And
- 24:09Speaker 1: I said it's Belichick verse Dan Campbell because forget it
- 24:13Speaker 1: then while I was over no, because in Bill's SUMMARYE
- 24:17Speaker 1: on Wednesday, when he goes over the team. He did
- 24:20Speaker 1: not say well coached, but he did say that they're
- 24:23Speaker 1: very aggressive. So I look for Bill to try to
- 24:27Speaker 1: play off that aggressiveness and you know, make them make
- 24:31Speaker 1: mistakes because of that aggressiveness. H Let me ask you,
- 24:34Speaker 1: if you think that Detroit's going to be really aggressive
- 24:37Speaker 1: defensively in this game, I kind of agree with you.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Would you keep that same aggressiveness if Mac Jones plays, Yes,
- 24:43Speaker 1: I would too. I would too, because he can't move. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: I mean, don't even get me started. Don't even get
- 24:50Speaker 1: me started. I mean I just yeah, we all got
- 24:52Speaker 1: got a chance to see some of those videos. He
- 24:54Speaker 1: was not moving. I know, well who was I think
- 24:58Speaker 1: it was Grd your guy, Paul, he said. The lack
- 25:01Speaker 1: of stability in the ankle. He was saying, he's raising
- 25:03Speaker 1: up on his toes him once, looks like he had
- 25:06Speaker 1: absolutely no pop in his Like I just after watching
- 25:09Speaker 1: that video, I found myself saying, what what are we
- 25:12Speaker 1: doing here? Yeah? This guy should be resting. I think, like,
- 25:14Speaker 1: I don't think he has any chance to get out
- 25:16Speaker 1: there this weekend. I just I feel like, and when
- 25:19Speaker 1: we talked about it last year, last week that that
- 25:21Speaker 1: this is an overreaction to like prove that he's tough.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And I just I really worry that someone needs to
- 25:26Speaker 1: be like take his helmet and be like get healthy,
- 25:29Speaker 1: get out of here. You need to get away exactly
- 25:34Speaker 1: so I can't harm myself. He's gonna harm himself out there.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Like I just watching the video, you can see the
- 25:39Speaker 1: mobility that he does not have in his ankle. He
- 25:41Speaker 1: has no push off of his toe. It's all just
- 25:43Speaker 1: like he's wearing a boot off of his flat foot. Yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 1: flat foot the whole time. So you're gonna try to
- 25:47Speaker 1: play an NFL game against with that, Like, I just
- 25:51Speaker 1: I think it's ridiculous that I think he needs to rest.
- 25:54Speaker 1: The other thing with Detroit, if Aaron Glenn, you know,
- 25:57Speaker 1: has something going, I know they're struggling. I know that,
- 25:59Speaker 1: you know, it's the worst defense in football. I would
- 26:03Speaker 1: also try to do a bunch of things where I'm
- 26:05Speaker 1: I'm showing the blitz and then I'm like occasionally dropping
- 26:09Speaker 1: out of it and seeing if I can get Zappy
- 26:11Speaker 1: to throw one to me right right yet, because you
- 26:15Speaker 1: gotta think it's gonna come out quick. The blitz is
- 26:18Speaker 1: come and here's my hot you know what? The hot's
- 26:20Speaker 1: gonna be if you're if you're Detroit, you know you
- 26:22Speaker 1: take it away. I mean, I know last week, had
- 26:26Speaker 1: Zappy been able to pull off the win, it would
- 26:28Speaker 1: have been like amazing. I even I still think if
- 26:32Speaker 1: they win this game, it'll be amazing. With a third
- 26:34Speaker 1: string quarterback, I would have to I would have to
- 26:37Speaker 1: see it. Like if they went out and won forty
- 26:39Speaker 1: one thirty eight, I would agree with one thousand and
- 26:41Speaker 1: percent with you. I think that would be absolutely amazing
- 26:43Speaker 1: if they win. If they win the game, because Detroit
- 26:46Speaker 1: craps all over themselves the way they don't kind of
- 26:48Speaker 1: have and have no players, then that's the kind of
- 26:51Speaker 1: game you win with it their string quarters lining up
- 26:53Speaker 1: to be a twenty twenty one context, right, like well
- 26:55Speaker 1: the Houston no like that the Jacoby Brissette against Houston
- 26:59Speaker 1: game where a fumble, two kickoffs inside the twenty and
- 27:02Speaker 1: they allowed to kick the quarterback to just take a
- 27:04Speaker 1: snap and run around the end for a touchdown. Like
- 27:07Speaker 1: if you win because of that, that's not the same
- 27:10Speaker 1: as like if he just plays conventional offense football and
- 27:14Speaker 1: he's like carving up the Lions, I'm with Fred, that
- 27:17Speaker 1: to me would be an amazing accomplishment. Yeah, all right,
- 27:21Speaker 1: eight five five pass five hundred is the ACE ticket
- 27:23Speaker 1: hut line eight five five past five hundred web radio
- 27:26Speaker 1: at pages dot com as the email address. I guess
- 27:28Speaker 1: we're doing video today. Huh, we are, We're on the video. Sorry,
- 27:32Speaker 1: I haven't. I haven't eaten anything yet because I don't
- 27:34Speaker 1: want to give everybody get everybody too excited about my
- 27:37Speaker 1: pizza cons even the candy and do well. I had
- 27:39Speaker 1: someb some rock candy. Let's go to Let's go to
- 27:44Speaker 1: the ACE ticket hut line. Hear what people have to say.
- 27:47Speaker 1: We'll start with Vinnie in Vegas. What's up Vinnie? Hey, guys,
- 27:52Speaker 1: how's it going good? Hey? You know I haven't I
- 27:55Speaker 1: haven't called a long time, but you know I stay loyalty.
- 27:58Speaker 1: You guys up here old all of the shows. Thank
- 28:01Speaker 1: you the first. The first thing I want to say, Fred,
- 28:04Speaker 1: is you know you brought in some new blog Listen.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I love Paul, Paul is my favorite, right, but you
- 28:10Speaker 1: brought in some new blood. You've added some new podcasts.
- 28:14Speaker 1: You know, for for a long time you were pretty
- 28:16Speaker 1: status quoll right, you know, with the show, and and
- 28:19Speaker 1: so I think you've done some really good stuff. You know,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I gave you all the props for being progressive and
- 28:23Speaker 1: keeping well. Listen, you know everybody chipped in. I'm Deuce
- 28:27Speaker 1: is the one who hired Evan Lazar. I didn't, you know,
- 28:30Speaker 1: I just okayed it. But yeah, Deuce is uh brought him.
- 28:33Speaker 1: He's been an advocate for years. So yeah, I heard
- 28:38Speaker 1: even call him the boss. So I don't know, listen,
- 28:40Speaker 1: I would. I would tell him the boss is me, right, Fred,
- 28:43Speaker 1: I'm the boss. Don't call anybody else the boss here? Oh?
- 28:45Speaker 1: Is that right? Is that right? People? I don't want
- 28:48Speaker 1: the boss man. Is only one boss man. You're the
- 28:50Speaker 1: boss man. The boss Man called the Boston Catch twenty
- 28:53Speaker 1: two yesterday. I wanted to, you know, I would. I
- 28:56Speaker 1: would say, you know, keep Mac away. You know, listen,
- 29:01Speaker 1: he's probably gonna get hurt more and then the season
- 29:03Speaker 1: is over. I mean, let's just wait another week and
- 29:07Speaker 1: and give him time to deal. I think they do
- 29:09Speaker 1: need to take, like you said, the keys away from
- 29:11Speaker 1: him and say you need to stay. Yeah. I think
- 29:13Speaker 1: that's that will be a bad decision. I'm a feeling
- 29:16Speaker 1: that if he goes in there, he's gonna get hurt
- 29:17Speaker 1: even more and then the season it really is done
- 29:20Speaker 1: the right I mean, like, if he's a sitting dug,
- 29:24Speaker 1: forget about the ankle, he could get hurt in some
- 29:26Speaker 1: other way. What are we doing? You know? Yeah, I
- 29:29Speaker 1: just think it's a bad idea. Yeah, I'm with you, Vinnie.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Another question real quick for you guys, And I know
- 29:35Speaker 1: you have to do fix today, so yeah, we gotta hurry. Yeah,
- 29:39Speaker 1: it might not be for today. You might want to
- 29:41Speaker 1: do it for another day. But you know, I did
- 29:43Speaker 1: hear that, you know, and I heard that the the shotgun,
- 29:47Speaker 1: you know, it's a little easier to defend than the
- 29:50Speaker 1: owner center because you know, there's a lot more things
- 29:52Speaker 1: you could do from under center. I'm wondering what you
- 29:54Speaker 1: guys think about that, and maybe the the idea that
- 29:57Speaker 1: the pages are easy to defend, because that's you know,
- 29:59Speaker 1: that's we're doing now. Yeah, I guess that, thanks Vinnie.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I guess that was a discussion on the show with
- 30:06Speaker 1: Dan Orlovsky and it's like four people and they were
- 30:09Speaker 1: talking about it, and the other guy wasn't. Arlovsky said
- 30:12Speaker 1: that you know, when you're under center is you have
- 30:16Speaker 1: a lot more options than when you know you're running shotgun. Yeah, well,
- 30:20Speaker 1: that's why they go from I mean college teams are
- 30:23Speaker 1: you know, all shotgun I mean that was Mac, that
- 30:25Speaker 1: was definitely Bailey Zappy, everything's in front of them. You know,
- 30:28Speaker 1: it's a whole new world going under center and having
- 30:30Speaker 1: to take those snaps and having it you know. But
- 30:31Speaker 1: but you agree that you have more options under center, Well, yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 1: because you can run the ball in different ways. The
- 30:38Speaker 1: only way you're going to run the ball out of
- 30:39Speaker 1: shotgun is by catching the snap and handing it to
- 30:42Speaker 1: the guy next to you. Right. In general, I mean
- 30:44Speaker 1: you could run some jet sweeps I suppose out of
- 30:46Speaker 1: the shotgun. But yeah, you have the entirety of a
- 30:49Speaker 1: running game and passing game under center. But I don't
- 30:52Speaker 1: think that makes you easier or harder to defend. I
- 30:54Speaker 1: don't either. I mean, let's I guess, you know, you
- 30:57Speaker 1: can do a two step drop and get rid of it,
- 30:59Speaker 1: but with a shotgun and you can get rid of
- 31:01Speaker 1: the ball quicker. Yeah, and I think the yeah, I
- 31:03Speaker 1: mean there's a reason why the majority of players are
- 31:06Speaker 1: used out of the shotgun. Like, if if all of
- 31:09Speaker 1: these teams thought it was harder to defend under center,
- 31:11Speaker 1: they wouldn't be like sixty percent shotgun or whatever the percentages.
- 31:15Speaker 1: And I think quarterbacks like shotgun better because you get
- 31:18Speaker 1: all right, you don't have to turn your back on
- 31:20Speaker 1: the play, right. I mean, that's all right there. And
- 31:21Speaker 1: that's why with a guy like Zappy, that's what they're
- 31:24Speaker 1: gonna do. I mean, make it easy on them, don't,
- 31:25Speaker 1: you know, throw him into I mean, they'll try to
- 31:27Speaker 1: do some a little bit under center stuff, but it's
- 31:29Speaker 1: clear what he's comfortable with and what he's experienced. And
- 31:32Speaker 1: they had Bailey Zappy under center a lot the other
- 31:34Speaker 1: day because they're going to run the ball a lot conventionally.
- 31:37Speaker 1: They were just running. They were running, you know, as
- 31:39Speaker 1: Evan says, they ran a lot of gap power, and
- 31:41Speaker 1: they ran a lot of zone um you know, so
- 31:43Speaker 1: you know they're going to do that. And when you
- 31:46Speaker 1: run the ball as often as they did the other day,
- 31:49Speaker 1: that's going to open up play action. Like I've also
- 31:52Speaker 1: seen a lot of word about, you know, the Patriots.
- 31:56Speaker 1: You know, Bailey ZAPPI runs play action better than Mac.
- 31:58Speaker 1: They have to get Mac up to. This is not
- 32:00Speaker 1: about running it more effectively or more often. When you
- 32:04Speaker 1: have a game with it, you have your third string
- 32:05Speaker 1: quarterback and the other team is just saying, we ain't
- 32:07Speaker 1: playing pass right, We're just going to stop the run. Yeah,
- 32:10Speaker 1: you're gonna have play action opportunities because they're not playing
- 32:13Speaker 1: the past at all. When Mac Jones is playing quarterback,
- 32:17Speaker 1: you have to play both right, right, Yeah, So they
- 32:20Speaker 1: can't just run play action every play and have it worked. No,
- 32:22Speaker 1: Ben ben Volan, Let's go to John in La. What's
- 32:27Speaker 1: up John? Hey, guys, I want to reiterate that um
- 32:32Speaker 1: Bred at the GM offwfu uh Andy and Eric leaving
- 32:40Speaker 1: and bringing and Megan and then replacing me bringing inducing
- 32:43Speaker 1: and tomorrow and Alex catch toy two. It's great. It's
- 32:47Speaker 1: so good. I wish you could take over the front
- 32:49Speaker 1: office of the team. I'm a better GM than I am.
- 32:54Speaker 1: We've lost We've lost a lot of talent over the years. Bred,
- 32:57Speaker 1: the coaches just killed. We're struggling. No, you keep the
- 33:01Speaker 1: core of we've been in a bit of a draft
- 33:03Speaker 1: lull lately. I think that makes Paul Brady, that makes
- 33:06Speaker 1: you know, the twenty year long time, you know, been
- 33:09Speaker 1: taking pay cuts. You know, I think you're telling me.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I think he's had some work done. I think he's
- 33:17Speaker 1: had some work done that. I think he's had some
- 33:21Speaker 1: work done, refuses deat Strawberries. Yeah, night Jade. Sorry, So, uh,
- 33:28Speaker 1: it would be great if Douce, if we could have
- 33:30Speaker 1: the you know, the version and the team of Deuce
- 33:33Speaker 1: with the content having like, could we have drafted Devin
- 33:36Speaker 1: Lloyd please? Everyone was saying we were going to do
- 33:39Speaker 1: what least was a good match for the system, a
- 33:41Speaker 1: dynamic playmaker in the front seven. Yet at a position
- 33:45Speaker 1: that we're like, we have nothing, yeah, and Devin Lloyds
- 33:50Speaker 1: lighting up the league doing what everyone said they would do.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I don't understand. I understand back in the day, the
- 33:58Speaker 1: draft industrial complex is not, you know, as great as
- 34:02Speaker 1: what Belichick and his guys could come up with. Me
- 34:04Speaker 1: didn't want to go with the sort of overall one
- 34:06Speaker 1: that most of the other teams did. But now it's,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you know, fifteen twenty years later, there's so much information available,
- 34:13Speaker 1: there's so much more information. There's so many more people
- 34:16Speaker 1: who are you know, making making you know, there's scouts
- 34:21Speaker 1: out there doing it. It's it's a real thing, and
- 34:24Speaker 1: it's really frustrating to me that, honestly, my mom could
- 34:27Speaker 1: have drafted better than Bill Belichick over the last week
- 34:30Speaker 1: seven years with me whispering in her ear. You know, Tibo,
- 34:35Speaker 1: don't not take TiVo because he tweeted something. Wow, it's unbelievable.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I'm right there with you, all right, John, Hey, alright, alright, Okay,
- 34:48Speaker 1: the world that is that's a little harsh. Yeah, I know,
- 34:52Speaker 1: but he is a scriptwriter, so no, no, he's dramatic.
- 34:55Speaker 1: That's good passionate. I I'm with him though. Ont Devin
- 34:59Speaker 1: Lloyd and that was like, remember we talked a lot
- 35:01Speaker 1: about that, and I mean, you know, of course, and
- 35:04Speaker 1: I knew what was going to play out like this
- 35:06Speaker 1: because I knew that Cole Strange would ultimately be your
- 35:09Speaker 1: day one starter at GUARD. Fine. Great, And now everybody's
- 35:14Speaker 1: going to say because of that, see, what would you like,
- 35:19Speaker 1: there's a million guy like, would you rather have Devin
- 35:21Speaker 1: Lloyd and Cole Strange in the second round and not
- 35:24Speaker 1: have Thornton? Well, at this point it's hard to say.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I haven't really seen Thornton. I mean, but but how
- 35:30Speaker 1: about Devin Lloyd Tae kwon Thornton and instead of Bailey
- 35:33Speaker 1: Zappy in the fourth round, Cole Strange because that's where
- 35:36Speaker 1: he was like slated to go, like that's apples to apples.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I yeah, I know, yeah, but then you don't have
- 35:42Speaker 1: Marcus Jones. And but but beyond that, like I happen
- 35:45Speaker 1: to see um, I think I saw it in clips.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I think the athletic put together like at the quarter pole,
- 35:53Speaker 1: very early four games, Like let's not get lost with
- 35:55Speaker 1: Devin Lloyd. We'll see what he ends up being. Right now,
- 35:57Speaker 1: he looks like he's a great pick. But they had
- 36:01Speaker 1: like the rookies by position, the top rookie performers by position,
- 36:06Speaker 1: and Kenyan Greene and Zion Johnson were listed at guard
- 36:11Speaker 1: and Cole Strange was not. So those are two guards
- 36:14Speaker 1: that got taken. And I understand they got taken, you
- 36:17Speaker 1: know before you know, Zion Johnson went before the Patriots
- 36:21Speaker 1: were at twenty one. But there were options that you
- 36:25Speaker 1: could have met, like you didn't just have to take
- 36:27Speaker 1: the next guard. Yeah, is my point. And I'm not
- 36:30Speaker 1: telling you I like, I don't. I think Cole Strange
- 36:32Speaker 1: has been fine. I'm not telling you he's been a bust.
- 36:34Speaker 1: He's been fine. He's he's he's had his moments, good
- 36:37Speaker 1: and bad. But I just feel like there were better
- 36:42Speaker 1: players than cold Strange available in the first round, regardless
- 36:45Speaker 1: of position. And I kind of thought, that's what Bill
- 36:48Speaker 1: always sort of focused on, is if if the guys
- 36:52Speaker 1: are similar, then we're going to take the position of need,
- 36:54Speaker 1: But if not, we're gonna go for who we think
- 36:57Speaker 1: is the better player. Right. I think they kind of
- 36:59Speaker 1: got in to a little bit of need on that pack. Yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 1: that's what I mean. You guys always say what do
- 37:04Speaker 1: they do? And I mean I think that the signing
- 37:05Speaker 1: at Jamie Collins at this point, you know, like what
- 37:07Speaker 1: does that say? And you know, I can tell you
- 37:10Speaker 1: that I don't think the linebacker play has been very
- 37:12Speaker 1: good and not other people will say that as well.
- 37:13Speaker 1: But I agree with you, I totally agree. But this
- 37:16Speaker 1: this tells you they kind of agree with you. And
- 37:18Speaker 1: it's you know, we can't keep going back to this well,
- 37:21Speaker 1: and it's just that's what's frustrating is that, you know,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I think on the surface, he thought, oh yeah, they're
- 37:25Speaker 1: trying to balance the safeties at linebacker and all that,
- 37:28Speaker 1: and you know, all right, they're gonna bring Jawan Bentley back,
- 37:31Speaker 1: and all right, I think I'm on board. And it's
- 37:33Speaker 1: just like it looks the same, It looks the same
- 37:35Speaker 1: and we talk about the run defense problems, and I'm
- 37:38Speaker 1: just last year, I remember getting into the draft and
- 37:40Speaker 1: being like, I'm just on Nakobe, Dean and Lloyd. Those
- 37:43Speaker 1: are the two guys. And now to see, you know,
- 37:45Speaker 1: how well Lloyd is playing. I haven't been as up
- 37:47Speaker 1: on on what Dean's been doing, not playing defense. He's
- 37:50Speaker 1: just kind of playing specialis what's um ray kwon McMillan's status.
- 37:55Speaker 1: It's a broken thumb, you know, And so I mean
- 37:57Speaker 1: I think that that's like derailed some of that plan.
- 37:59Speaker 1: That they haven't been able to play him as much
- 38:01Speaker 1: as they might want to. But he was well, he
- 38:04Speaker 1: wasn't playing well, and and is he going to be
- 38:07Speaker 1: the answer once he gets going? I mean, I think
- 38:09Speaker 1: you're all right. He's off an ACL you know, like
- 38:11Speaker 1: you give him a little bit of time here earlier
- 38:12Speaker 1: this season, but you know, at the same time, they're
- 38:16Speaker 1: going out to get Collins because they need more from
- 38:18Speaker 1: that position, and you think he will be active this week.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I don't know. Well, Bill said yesterday he had some
- 38:22Speaker 1: offseason surgery, so I doubt it. I would probably think
- 38:26Speaker 1: it's a long shot, but I don't know. So the
- 38:28Speaker 1: move yesterday with Marcus Cannon. Is that now permanent? Yeah?
- 38:32Speaker 1: What I mean is that's it? Yeah? Yeah's because I
- 38:37Speaker 1: thought they did that last week, but I guess I
- 38:40Speaker 1: was just an elevation from the I thought that they
- 38:42Speaker 1: signed him to the active roster last week, but I
- 38:44Speaker 1: guess not. No, he was a practice squad guy initially,
- 38:46Speaker 1: and then they know him up for the initially the
- 38:49Speaker 1: first they promote from. I thought they promoted him by
- 38:51Speaker 1: signing him to the active roster because he was ready.
- 38:54Speaker 1: He was on the practice squad for a couple of weeks. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 38:58Speaker 1: he can't go back now unless they have to cut
- 39:00Speaker 1: them now use cankleback. Well, they have to cut them
- 39:02Speaker 1: right in order, like like little Jordan Humphrey and being
- 39:05Speaker 1: the same kind of situation. Let's go to Melvin and Tennessee.
- 39:07Speaker 1: What's up Melvina. I was going on, Hey, um, what
- 39:13Speaker 1: this game is? It's a weird game because, as I guess, obviously,
- 39:18Speaker 1: I feel pretty confident that we should win. But also
- 39:21Speaker 1: with that being stated, I think you're gonna need close
- 39:24Speaker 1: to probably twenty five enough to blow down this team.
- 39:29Speaker 1: I mean, you all have already said that that the
- 39:31Speaker 1: line just scored a lot of points. So it's it's
- 39:34Speaker 1: hard for me to just feel as confident with the
- 39:37Speaker 1: backups in and everything I said, even me, you know,
- 39:39Speaker 1: with Mac Jones doesn't said that confident. It's going thirty.
- 39:42Speaker 1: So I think it's gonna be one of these. Um,
- 39:45Speaker 1: the defense is going to have to really put on
- 39:48Speaker 1: one of the best performances to really limit them. UM.
- 39:52Speaker 1: And that's something that I guess it's curious because these
- 39:56Speaker 1: last couple of weeks, I mean I thought they were
- 39:58Speaker 1: I know they're not that same defense anymore, but back
- 40:00Speaker 1: in the day, it still feels like some of the
- 40:02Speaker 1: bad defenses what they'll limit somebody. I mean, we played
- 40:05Speaker 1: Green Bay, they ran, did whatever they normally do. Um,
- 40:08Speaker 1: Aaron Jones did whatever he wanted to do. It's the
- 40:11Speaker 1: main forms play the Ravens that got the balls to
- 40:13Speaker 1: Mark Andrews. But this seems like we're not limiting people
- 40:16Speaker 1: as much. I'm sure they has to do a personnel,
- 40:18Speaker 1: but still it's it's just it's just different to me
- 40:21Speaker 1: the team that they're not at least getting in their way.
- 40:25Speaker 1: So I feel confident that we can win, but I
- 40:30Speaker 1: think the pages, even with that, you're gonna need probably
- 40:33Speaker 1: at least twenty eight points, it would be the team, right, possibly, yeah,
- 40:37Speaker 1: what's and that would be below their game average, so
- 40:41Speaker 1: you know, yeah, right, I feel like you know, the
- 40:45Speaker 1: twenty four is the fewest that they've scored, so I
- 40:47Speaker 1: think that's I think that's a goal, like, see if
- 40:50Speaker 1: you can match that um and he's right, Melvin's right,
- 40:54Speaker 1: like you don't have a ton of confidence in the
- 40:56Speaker 1: offense in general yet, But this is the kind of
- 40:58Speaker 1: defense last year when they faced it, they got fifty,
- 41:01Speaker 1: right with mac Jones. Yeah, these are the kinds of
- 41:03Speaker 1: defenses that they feast on. Bad defenses that overcommit. They
- 41:08Speaker 1: they're aggressive to a fault. These are the kind of
- 41:11Speaker 1: defenses that Josh and Bill would have for lunch. And
- 41:15Speaker 1: the question will be how much will they be able
- 41:19Speaker 1: to take advantage of that stuff? If it's Bailey zappy right,
- 41:21Speaker 1: I don't think they've not known they're not going to
- 41:24Speaker 1: be able to do what they've done in the past.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I think you nail on the head of why is
- 41:28Speaker 1: this just such an intriguing matchup? To me, I think
- 41:29Speaker 1: it's just going to be a roller coaster game of
- 41:32Speaker 1: back and forth kind of big plays, mistakes, Like I
- 41:35Speaker 1: don't know if can't get the Patriots to play that style.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Like in some ways, I feel like the Patriots need
- 41:41Speaker 1: to not play down to that style and just stay
- 41:44Speaker 1: within themselves and not get into that kind of back
- 41:46Speaker 1: and forth, big play mistake fest that that the Lions
- 41:49Speaker 1: seem to really thrive in. But you know, I just
- 41:53Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if I'll be surprised if
- 41:54Speaker 1: they totally shut down this offense. But I have a
- 41:57Speaker 1: little bit in like the back of my head of like,
- 41:59Speaker 1: did they just kind of put it together and they
- 42:00Speaker 1: kind of have a field fork goff and you know
- 42:02Speaker 1: they're going to be just so shorthanded. And again it'll
- 42:05Speaker 1: be after the game they shut them out. Yeah, if
- 42:07Speaker 1: there's no if there's no one playing, that's different. If
- 42:10Speaker 1: they have a reasonable amount of personnel. I mean it's Wednesday,
- 42:13Speaker 1: we'll see what this looks like. Um No, but I
- 42:16Speaker 1: mean the Wednesday injury reports and I don't see them
- 42:22Speaker 1: shutting them down. But I do see the possibility of
- 42:25Speaker 1: you know, the Detroit has won the toss, they've elected
- 42:27Speaker 1: to defer. The Patriots went on eleven play, seventy five
- 42:32Speaker 1: yard touchdown drive that featured nine runs by Damien Harrison
- 42:35Speaker 1: Romandre Stevenson and they go up seven nothing, and then
- 42:38Speaker 1: the Lions come out and maybe get two first downs
- 42:41Speaker 1: and then get a pass over the middle and in
- 42:44Speaker 1: the middle of a zone that someone deflects and it
- 42:46Speaker 1: gets picked off, and the Patriots go fifty yards in
- 42:49Speaker 1: another nine plays and it's fourteen nothing, game, set match,
- 42:53Speaker 1: that's game. That's the formula that the Patriots have used
- 42:57Speaker 1: to win games without Tom Brady when they get that
- 43:01Speaker 1: kind of an edge early. Now I see your yeah.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I mean, golf might get some yards up and down,
- 43:07Speaker 1: but with a fourteen point cushion Belichick game and coffing
- 43:11Speaker 1: that up and I would have immense confidence and then
- 43:15Speaker 1: being able to hand the ball off unlike Dan Campbell
- 43:17Speaker 1: up ten in the fourth quarter in Minnesota going for
- 43:20Speaker 1: fourth and six from his own forty. Bill's not going
- 43:23Speaker 1: to do that. Bill's not going to do stupid stuff
- 43:26Speaker 1: like that. So that's the formula. Touchdown on the first
- 43:30Speaker 1: drive or first win the toss. No, but you know
- 43:32Speaker 1: what I mean, You know what I mean, Like I
- 43:34Speaker 1: think if it just plays out conventionally and it's like
- 43:38Speaker 1: they score, you score, you know, you score, they score,
- 43:40Speaker 1: I think you're gonna have a hard time stop in
- 43:42Speaker 1: their offense if their personnel is dead. But if you
- 43:44Speaker 1: can get a lead, now I think you can hold
- 43:47Speaker 1: them to like seventeen, you know, with three turnovers that
- 43:50Speaker 1: allow you to control the game from start to finish,
- 43:52Speaker 1: and you know, you get something to feel good about
- 43:55Speaker 1: going into Cleveland. That's I think that's the formula. Yeah,
- 44:00Speaker 1: well it's gonna be interesting. Williams and Philham. What's up,
- 44:03Speaker 1: william I still think that's gonna happen. Hey, are you doing? Fred?
- 44:07Speaker 1: I'm going on? Oh you tell me. Just listen to
- 44:12Speaker 1: Patris I'm filtered my number one podcast. There you go,
- 44:16Speaker 1: he's scrambling. There you go. Just want to give y'all
- 44:27Speaker 1: phrase and then give you two questions. I know y'all
- 44:29Speaker 1: get to your fix and whatnot. First this wann't say
- 44:31Speaker 1: whatever you need from me. You know, if you need me,
- 44:33Speaker 1: keep calling whatever you need. You know, I'm here for y'all. Okay, oh,
- 44:36Speaker 1: thank you? All right, Well we need you to keep
- 44:38Speaker 1: calling you absolutely, Yeah, not a problem. So my first
- 44:42Speaker 1: question is this all right? So just a little bit
- 44:44Speaker 1: of a push. Well, it's Jamison Williams starting for Detroit
- 44:48Speaker 1: on I r started started the season. Are you doing
- 44:50Speaker 1: I think Jesus that was a torture. All right, So
- 44:55Speaker 1: a little pushback on what you were saying, Fred, you said,
- 44:57Speaker 1: we have pieces and whatnot, but you see how to
- 45:00Speaker 1: call us a question and what's going on because we
- 45:02Speaker 1: might lose this game? Yeah, and how important it is
- 45:05Speaker 1: that we leave. So you know what I'm saying, No,
- 45:08Speaker 1: I listen, I think it all comes down to the quarterback.
- 45:11Speaker 1: You know, even with Mac, I don't think he's there yet.
- 45:15Speaker 1: And so like, I think a better quarterback would be
- 45:19Speaker 1: able to do more with these pieces, you know, but
- 45:22Speaker 1: Max's still learning okay, and uh last and not least okay,
- 45:27Speaker 1: So what you want? Why would you want to sign
- 45:31Speaker 1: back um to Kobe Marks when you can just go
- 45:33Speaker 1: and get Calvin Risk. You know what I'm saying like this,
- 45:37Speaker 1: I mean, like we we want better weapons, better pieces here,
- 45:41Speaker 1: as you say, basically, but why bring back to the
- 45:44Speaker 1: point of mind, I guess but because he don't want
- 45:45Speaker 1: us can get open Basically. Yeah, I think he's been good.
- 45:49Speaker 1: I think he's been productive. I mean, I'm not gonna
- 45:52Speaker 1: bang down the door if they don't resign him. But right,
- 45:55Speaker 1: I mean he's what has he done wrong? He's been productive?
- 45:59Speaker 1: A question is you have Calvin Ridley and Jacoby Meyers. Sure,
- 46:02Speaker 1: but why who hasn't played? Yeah? I mean I like
- 46:07Speaker 1: Calvin Ridley. I think he's a really good player. But yeah,
- 46:10Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know what he is. Now
- 46:13Speaker 1: doesn't he have like didn't he lead the game because
- 46:15Speaker 1: he's Yeah, and then he got suspended for gambling on
- 46:18Speaker 1: the game, right, so yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, all right,
- 46:23Speaker 1: William And joining us is Evan And guess what Evan
- 46:32Speaker 1: has done? Evan tell us all the news. I know,
- 46:43Speaker 1: I gotta pull on my notes for this one. There's
- 46:46Speaker 1: a lot of just my copious notes. Right. So anyways,
- 46:51Speaker 1: Mac Jones at practice for the Patriots on Thursday about
- 46:55Speaker 1: the same level of participation as what we saw yesterday.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Very very brief media portion today, just stretching. But during stretching,
- 47:03Speaker 1: the quarterbacks were throwing and Mac was in line participating
- 47:07Speaker 1: in the throwing drills. And I would say, well, probably
- 47:11Speaker 1: headed towards another limited day at practice like he was yesterday.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Now they were had the uppers on today, some shells
- 47:17Speaker 1: and shorts, so maybe a little bit more ramped up
- 47:19Speaker 1: from the walk through yesterday, So it's going to be
- 47:21Speaker 1: really interesting to see what his level or participation is
- 47:24Speaker 1: because I think yesterday they didn't do much contact wise,
- 47:28Speaker 1: so there wasn't really any need to hold him out significantly.
- 47:32Speaker 1: So we'll see today with a little bit more of
- 47:33Speaker 1: a ramp up what happens with Mac. Taekwon Thornton was
- 47:37Speaker 1: also back out there today, so he's back out there
- 47:40Speaker 1: for the second straight day. And we also saw Laurence
- 47:43Speaker 1: Guy who was at practice yesterday and today, but then
- 47:46Speaker 1: a DMP yesterday, so they're still playing that game with
- 47:50Speaker 1: the injury reports. The only guy missing was Brian Hoyer,
- 47:53Speaker 1: who's still dealing with that concussion. John who smith back
- 47:56Speaker 1: as well on Thursday. He was he was moving, stretching,
- 48:00Speaker 1: you know, with everybody else, and looked like he was
- 48:03Speaker 1: taped up pretty significantly on that ankle, but that's to
- 48:05Speaker 1: be expected. I was watching the video and Mac out there.
- 48:08Speaker 1: It seems kind of the same thing, right, like just
- 48:10Speaker 1: he can't really he's like he's in a boot, but
- 48:11Speaker 1: he's not in a boot. Yeah, I would say that
- 48:13Speaker 1: there's very limited motion range of motion there, but he's
- 48:18Speaker 1: throwing the ball, you know, and and he's I think
- 48:21Speaker 1: what we're seeing yesterday and today is definitely just testing
- 48:27Speaker 1: it out and seeing how much can he actually do
- 48:29Speaker 1: out there. And I think at this point you hope
- 48:31Speaker 1: that there's not really any threat, especially in practice of
- 48:35Speaker 1: reinjuring it or getting it more severely injured. So might
- 48:39Speaker 1: as well go out there, throw some balls, you know,
- 48:41Speaker 1: maybe do a little bit of light work and see
- 48:44Speaker 1: how much he can push the ankle. So we're back
- 48:46Speaker 1: outside today. Yeah, very nice, nice day out, very nice,
- 48:52Speaker 1: very nice. Did that affect the mood at all? I
- 48:58Speaker 1: think it's always when you have an injury with the quarterback, right,
- 49:05Speaker 1: and everybody comes in and it's like a horde just
- 49:09Speaker 1: trying to get their number ten pictures right, and they
- 49:12Speaker 1: got the video. Guys are quickly setting. The guys are, yeah,
- 49:16Speaker 1: shooting through binoculars, you go, you know, Eric Adler out
- 49:19Speaker 1: there with the long lens, you know, trying to take
- 49:22Speaker 1: get the picture of Mac. But it's so funny I
- 49:25Speaker 1: see in the press box these guys using their binoculars
- 49:28Speaker 1: and taking pictures to like, here's the ru film of matter.
- 49:32Speaker 1: It's not gonna look good, so don't bother. Yeah, it's like,
- 49:35Speaker 1: what are you doing? Big binocular, big guys on the beat. Yeah. Sure,
- 49:40Speaker 1: Man's part of this almost feels a little to me
- 49:43Speaker 1: like the Brady thing, where no, don't don't rest, don't nice,
- 49:46Speaker 1: just keep moving, keep moving. Like isn't that kind of
- 49:48Speaker 1: like the TB twelve philosophy a little bit? Is not?
- 49:50Speaker 1: Like with injuries not I mean, maybe should get janted
- 49:54Speaker 1: down here, she's a TB twelve, But like that, that's
- 49:57Speaker 1: what I'm kind of getting the vibe of of don't
- 49:59Speaker 1: rest it, keep it moving, stay on it, try to,
- 50:01Speaker 1: you know, get it moving quickly. Doesn't it depend what
- 50:03Speaker 1: it is? I mean, you know, that's like what I
- 50:06Speaker 1: always took from that TB twelve book that that they
- 50:08Speaker 1: sent me a free copy of Thank You very Much
- 50:09Speaker 1: back one of my blogging days. So I did dive
- 50:12Speaker 1: into that a little bit. But oh, that's right. But
- 50:14Speaker 1: you know it's like it goes back to like icing,
- 50:16Speaker 1: is icing still good for you? I know that's like
- 50:18Speaker 1: something that's kind of under debate now of like should
- 50:20Speaker 1: you ice and work for me with my shoulder thing?
- 50:25Speaker 1: I finally started later No, well I finally started icing.
- 50:28Speaker 1: It went away. Yeah, I definitely think there's some truth
- 50:31Speaker 1: to that. Just from what you read and here, obviously
- 50:34Speaker 1: all of us are trying to absorb as much high
- 50:36Speaker 1: ankle sprain knowledge as we possible. We're not watching surgery.
- 50:40Speaker 1: I could just see Paul with his oh trying to
- 50:43Speaker 1: clip the TV shoulder. Boy, it does, it does click
- 50:46Speaker 1: into place every once in a while, even now. Yeah,
- 50:49Speaker 1: happens when I'm driving and I would go to put
- 50:51Speaker 1: the direction at Yeah, I'm just wondering, like what you're
- 50:53Speaker 1: using your shoulder for you, Like like riggs, you gotta
- 50:57Speaker 1: like put bang your shoulder in and out. I'm depending
- 50:59Speaker 1: on the situation. Edition it's out back bailing. Hey you
- 51:04Speaker 1: still bail that. Hey you take a break so I
- 51:08Speaker 1: can eat? Oh, you start making fun of them, all right?
- 51:11Speaker 1: All right? Oh read read after break. Okay, So this one, hey,

- 59:23Speaker 1: now great moments in history and quick movie trivia. What
- 59:30Speaker 1: famous movie director produced a nineteen seventy one film with
- 59:34Speaker 1: up and coming within up and coming movie director, But
- 59:39Speaker 1: what you don't know who that is? Anyway, The answer
- 59:43Speaker 1: is Francis Ford Coppola. But he did a TV show
- 59:47Speaker 1: What famous movie director produced a nineteen seventy one film
- 59:51Speaker 1: with an up and coming movie director? But like that
- 59:53Speaker 1: could be anyone. Who's the up and coming movie director?
- 59:56Speaker 1: He said, Francis Ford Coppola, No in that. Yeah, it
- 59:59Speaker 1: sounds like there's two different guys, right, yeah, two different
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I don't know Scorsese and Coppola clarify did they do?
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: The movie was American Graffiti and George Lucas. Okay, I
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: gotta keep reading. That's another great moment from all right
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: back here and Patriots Unfiltered. Evan came back from practice
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: and gave us the lowdown. There we got stuff too. Yeah,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I get it's it's it's throwback because I'm on Video
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Throwback Week. You can go to the Patriots Pro Shop
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: here in Foxborough and get all your throwback here. Yeah,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: don't forget to bring a towel. I still say, like,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I know, I know people love love this logo, but
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I also know that when they were wearing it. Nobody
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: liked it. It was the worst logo in the NFL,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: or one of them, you know. And I told you
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: my brother was at the game, I think in seven
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: nine against San Diego where they had this logo and
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: a new logo which was kind of like Elvis, and
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: they had the crowd choose the logo based on cheers. Yeah,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: and it was a blowout this one one. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: pat Patriot. Yeah. Where Richfield was he was he going
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: hard for As he said to me, he goes. I
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: kind of liked the new one, but everybody was yelling.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I just kept my mouth shut. He didn't want to.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I don't want to get killed. Yeah, I didn't sound
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: like Paul. Yeah, I mean, I mean, I guess it
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: wears on you a little bit. But I just remember
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: at the time like, yeah, but pay no mind. But
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: now it's nostalgic. Yeah, now it's nostalgic, and nostalgi is big.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Like you can go on those websites and buy like
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: the old school sports T shirts. I like those. I mean,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: now it's probably the best bad old logo that would
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: have been, Like it might have been one of the
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: worst that time, but now it's like good bad, Yeah,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: I do. Like, Um, David Andrews posed with the red
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: jersey in the same pose, like the hand the same
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: way that like a center. That was pretty cool. Yeah, well,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: you know he's a center. Well, he told the story
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: yesterday and his press conference that he went to like
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: a football camp when he was in high school. Pete
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Rock was there and had a tattoo of pat Patriot
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: on his calf and that was like David first, well,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: his first exposure to the logo that I didn't didn't
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: know who Pete Brock was at the time, but everybody
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: saw that cartoony thing. He must have liked it. Yeah,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: so this is the week. That's the big question around
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Patriots Twitter right now is the logo at midfield? Is that?
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: Will they do that? Will they do that? The end zones?
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: We probably are in the room with people who know this. Well,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: that's why I brought it up, but I didn't know
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: if we could share that information or not. I don't know.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: We'll see, We'll see, Fred, you know, I mean kol
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: as usual. We'll see. Well, you know the thing about
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: it is when you're on TV, you want your logo
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: to be seen throughout the game. And so are you,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: you know, losing that opportunity if you replace it with
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: the old logo? Right so right, brand think so I'm
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: just putting a little doubt in people's mind. Oh I
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: know what you're doing, but I don't think you would
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: lose playing the game. Okay brand recognition, Yeah, okay, we'll
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: see you know, like the Bengals had the white logo
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: at midfield for the when they wore the all white Yeah,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: they did everything else was to say paint though. By
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: the way, am I the only one that didn't love
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: those white uniforms. I know they've got a lot of
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Twitter praise. I liked them. I think they were cool. Yeah,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: I didn't like them. I love those Dolphins uniforms, the
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: all teal yeah yeah. Yeah. Well anyway, it's gonna be
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: um red white white pants right in the white helmet. Yes, yeah,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: So that face masks, that's gonna look cool. White face mask.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Someone said red face masks on Twitter, white white face mask. Well,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: I thought you could choose. I thought as a player,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you got to choose what type of face uniform you're
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: gonna wear, No, what type of face mask you had?
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: What color? Yeah, not what color you have never the same.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: I remember um at times the PA some of the
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Patriots had red face masks. Yes, the whole team, not
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: the whole team. In the early nineties they had red
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: face masks with those red uniform team though. Yes, Fred,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I mean, you can't have some guys wearing one uniform
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: and some guys wearing another. One has uniform face Thus
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Mike couldn't agree with you more great point by you
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: just the face mask uniform. Therefore they are they are
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: white face masks. They're wearing them out of practice this
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: week already, the helmets, so they are white. Nice how
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: they look today, they look fresh fresh, well except for
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: some of the change. They're wearing red. Right, No, they're
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: all wearing one. Choose your own face mask adventure. But
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: a big, a big conversation in face masks has been
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Cold Strange's face mask because he wears the which I
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: still can't figure out why that is such a big deal,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: because most players nowadays don't. He's in the very large
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: minority of not wearing the middle the middle bar. It
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: definitely throws you off a little bit in my mind,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: A large minority, small minority that was like pretty severe severe,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: pretty I mean I can see like to me, like
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: that middle bar, like you're always either one side or
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: the other. You know, you're splitting your eyes up at it.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Right do you guys are playing hockey like you focus
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: you know, far away. It doesn't you don't even realize
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: it there when you do. But if you're a guard,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: you're not focusing far away. You're focusing on like two
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: feet in front of you. I think it's more a
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: problem just generally, the face match just completely closes everything in,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: you know, and just like you can't you're peripheral, like
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: you think you can't. Boy now, yeah, yeah, anyway, yeah,
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: all right, yeah, good uniform Talkatike at hot line. Web
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: radio at Patriots dot com is the email address. We
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: got a lot of emails coming in at web radio
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com. Uh Neil writes in He's from
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: New Brunswick. Kind of feels like this is a must
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: win because I think if you're one and four the
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: season is over. Adding to the stress, it seems like
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Zappy will be playing What should we do on offense
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: to maximize whatever skill set he has? Way more shotgun? Also,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: what about the reports that Bob Kraft wanted Zappy over Hoyer.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Do you think it's true? And does this bother? Can
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: I ask a question about that? Yeah, can you follow
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: up with that emailer and tell me where that report was,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: because it's it's not the first person that I've heard that,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: and I haven't seen Robert krafts say well, it was
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: in the same report where Robert noticed that Bourne wasn't
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: getting a lot of snuff. I'm being I know, but
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I am curious is to see if there was a
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: report that somewhere Robert Kraft was credited with wanting Bailey
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Zappy to play over Howyer, because I find that extremely
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: out of character for Robert Kraft. Yeah. I don't know
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: where that came from. Yeah, but that seems like it's
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: a story every time now like there's some kind of thing. Well,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: Robert Croft wants Born to play more. He mean they
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: want he wants more play action in the playbook. They
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: got to give it to him. Ian he's the owner. Yeah,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: about this stuff, I don't know. So as a question, Oh,
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: how are we gonna get Bailey's Appy run the ball? Yeah?
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: I think that was the most impressive thing about the
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: game on Sunday is that you have Bailey's Appy under center,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: you're still running it for five yards to carry. It
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: didn't really seem to impact a running game at all.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: He would think that the defense sells out eight guys
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: in the box, like let the quarterback beat you. You know,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: the fact that they've now signed Cannon to the fifty three,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: I mean, I assumed he was gonna play anyway. But
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: we're gonna probably see a lot of that tackle eligible,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: all of that all all day. Yeah, both teams. Actually,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: the Lions run more six oh line tackle eligible than
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: any team in the league, So they are number one
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: in the league in that, and now the Patriots are
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: probably gonna be number one in the league after last
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: week and this week except for their entirety of their
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: offensive lines on the Intry report. Yeah, but yeah, there
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: a lot of this is we're talking about throwback uniforms.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Is a throwback game, right, These are two teams that
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: want to run the football. The Lions are very heavy
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: under center. They're a very heavy run team. Early down
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: run frequency for both teams is very high up there
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: in terms of, you know, when they run the football
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: on first and second down. So this is a throwback game.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: When the throwback unis which I like that symmetry. Yeah,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: but no lions throwbacks. All we need is mud mud.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: We're not going to get that. Uh, Brendan writes in uh.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: He says, if Zappy ends up getting few getting a
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: few incredible performances, how do you think that will affect
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: the QB depth? If well? Could he take the backup
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: toll from Hawaiian Howier? Yes? I mean I think that's
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: that's the goal is for him probably next year to
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: just be the number two guy. Yeah, right, that could
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: be positive to come out of this would be the
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: greatest little thing. But yeah, you know, when's Mac going
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: to come back? And you know how much is that
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: be going to get a chance to develop? I mean,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: I think he's getting a week this week to prepare
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: and you know, see what it's really like, and you know,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: hopefully they'll kind of tailor some more things in the
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: plan to him. Um, but you know, how does it
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: go if he's got to go three weeks four weeks
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: when he really has to start to improve to as
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: other teams get a sense of him and what they're
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: doing with him. And so I don't know that I
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: mean that that that would be the interesting stuff to
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: take from this if he has to start for a
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: little while, slide right, I want to be off camera
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: that what's the point. Also give well, you are in charge,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: you can control that. Also give a shout out to
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: bb for not listening to all the haters even if
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: we are losing right now. Judon and the other guys
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: being such great characters on the team and that's how
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: I want to be represented. So how how is he
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: listening to haters? If Judon is a great character? I
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: don't know, Brandon that one shout out for Belichick for
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: trying to win games. I mean, I mean, how many
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: head coaches out there would you think would be trying
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: to win games? I personality though, I mean, I think
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: that's having a great game season. So I mean, like, like,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: does he mean like he's a great character, so play
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: him any like? I don't understand. I don't care. I
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: think in some ways Judon's having a better start than
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: he did last year. But he was new to the
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: team last year, so as new and exciting that this
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: free agent is coming onto the scene and has a
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: sack in every single game. But this year he's got
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: a sack in every single game again, And it's not
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: just a saxon overtime. He pressures Rogers on third down.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Early on in the game, he had another pressure, so
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: it's having a great start. He just looks quicker to me,
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: like I don't know if he's in better shape or something,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: but he just seems to have a little bit more
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: of a closing burst to me a couple of times
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: against Rogers where it was, you know, like that extra
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: little boost right as he's getting to the quarterback where
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: it's he thinks maybe he can get it away. But
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I think he's, uh, he's looked really good. Um, Jonathan
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: has actually his email says Jonathan, but his name is
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: Rusty Arland. I guess that's his nickname. He wants he
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: wants to make heads details over this Mac being a
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: practice thing. Yeah, he says. Teams know just because he's
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: at practice doesn't mean he has a chance to play.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: So what's the point Is it just to create some
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: pressure on Mac to play after he's been practicing for
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: three weeks. That's the only explanation I can come up with.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: I think Mac wants to be out there. Yeah, I
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: think Mac wants to be out there. Yeah. I think
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: the team is like, you know, do what you want,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: and I think he wants to be out there. I mean,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: what I was saying to Paul this morning is like,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: I just hope this isn't like an overcorrection on the
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: fact that he took some crap for how he left
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: the field in that last game. And he feels like
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: he has something approved now by coming back early from
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: this injury. But I just I just hope they're smart
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: about it. I mean, that's not what one of the
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Patriots players said when they had one of those reports,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: like I hope we're smart about this. And you know,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: at first, I think people were thinking that, like, oh,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: the team is pushing him, they want him back a sap.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: And but I think it's changed. And I mean me
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: and Paul talked a lot about this. Just it seems
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: like it it's Mac. I think it was is Um
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: the surgery. I think the team wanted him to have
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: surgery because they felt that would get him back the quickest.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: And I think that that has changed because he is
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: not having the surgery. They gave him away at the
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: pizza party upstairs, Matty, I think they have a bunch
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: of Now we had Matisse bring us. It was nice
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: enough to bring a few down anybody else. No, just
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: the just the talent, just the talent move he brought
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: up for content, not Casspe. He won't be the first time,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: UM won't be the last. The Tom Brady they just
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: you know, they're taking his weapons. So Matt did send
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: me a link to a blog post about the Robert
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Kraft Bailey Zappy thing, and evidently UM noted um. Patriots
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: beat writer Bill Simmons is evidently the one. He says
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: on his latest episode his latest podcast, he says he
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: has heard from some of his quote Pats Birdies about
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: what he thinks. One thing I heard, as you know,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: I have some Pats Birdies. Kraft loves Zappy, Simmons said,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: and Kraft thought he should have started this week over Hoyer.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: He's like all in on Zappy. So I don't know
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: how Bill Simmons knows that. I know he is an
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: enormous Boston sports fan. I don't know who he would
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: be talking to that would tell him something that Robert
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: Kraft was thinking. But that's that's where it came from.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: So I just wanted thanks for Matt for finding that.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: You know, if that's true, and I doubt it is
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: then I disagree with the owner. And you know, I
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: know on your show yesterday, Paul, they had a pole
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: who should it's amazing, who should start Hoyer or Zappy?
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: And like over seventy percent wanted Zappy, so and I
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: just don't get it. And this emailer there was a
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: pole who should start seventy five percent Mac or Zappy
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: and it was still overwhelmingly Zappy. Okay, I mean what
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: doings like he was over eighty percent over Hoyer. I
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: mean this emailer, this is Andy and Sioux City says,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: I'm tired of hearing that we should play Hoyer if
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: he can go. It's stupid. Can we all agree that
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: this team is going nowhere? No? I can't agree. That's
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: the part. I can't agree. That's right. That's the premise
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: that it's the wrong premise, Like we are not making
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: the playoffs, and if by some freaking miracle we do,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: it's not lasting long. With that said, there is zero
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: reasons to play Hoyer. I don't care if Zappy can
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: only run ten plays, get him out there and get
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: him some rep What about the rest of the team.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Don't we want to see what everyone else can do too.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: If you were four and nine the ball and just
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: and just forget about the wide receivers. If you were
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: four and nine and really playing for nothing, then I
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: could say, like, get get the rookie some reps. Let's
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: see if he can be the number two guy next year.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: We won't need to spend say a million or two
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: on a backup quarterback. We can get a rookie fourth
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: round contract in year two is my backup? Yeah? It
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: makes sense. Right now, I'm unwilling to accept the premise
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: that the season is over, he says. Hasn't Fred been
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: saying you only get better by playing? Yeah? That goes
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: with for all players, not just Bailey Zappy, It goes
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: for Cole Strange, It goes for a galore, It goes
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: for you know, all these guys need to play more.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: And if you limit the playbook to just running plays,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: you're not helping anybody, you know. So I don't get it.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Hoyer knows the offense better, he could run more plays.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Maybe ten years from now Zappy's still in the league
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: and he turns out to be a better quarterback than
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: a Hoyer. Maybe, But right now, I don't think the
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Patriots are out of it, and I want to give
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: them the best chance to win. And right now I
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: think it's a healthy Hoyer. Now he's out, he's not
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: gonna play, so it's gonna be Zappy. So it's a
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: moot point, right, But I don't understand this thing that
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: you know, let's see Zappy, the obsession over Bailey Zappy's
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: I was already triggered to buy it yesterday and it's
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: still I mean, do you think it's all that different
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: though then like Jared's did him like a couple of
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: years now, it's just anytime you have a backup quarterback
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: that you don't quite know, and and that whole year
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: you had they really like Stidham, like they're gonna go
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: with Stidham, then they signed Cam Newton. I just think
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: all this like you're gonna get your wish. You're gonna
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: get to see Bailey's appy this weekend against one of
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: the worst defenses in the NFL, and then let's regroup
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: after that, see how he does with a week to prepare.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: So this is, you know, it's favorable conditions now for
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: him as much as they can be for you know,
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: for a fourth round pick that just got you know,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: out of college. So we'll see, let's see, we'll see
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: how he does, and if he does really well, then
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: you know, maybe those people are right. But I think
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: it's a pointless debate right now because it's just it's
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: gonna happen. He's gonna play this weekend. I'm convinced that
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: this decision was made for everyone this week you know,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: thank God? Yeah, because you know, I can't. I don't
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: understand the controversy. I don't understand any of this with
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Bailey's appy. And I pose this question to Alex yesterday
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: on Patriots Cash twenty two. Here we go Wednesday three,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: and I see, because Alex is not to throw him
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: unt of the bus. But he's a appy guy, right.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: He liked Zappy in college and was happy that they
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: drafted him. So I said, what is because I don't
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: see it, Like, what is it that people saw out
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: of that game on Sunday that have them convinced that
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Bailey Zappy is now going to be the guy or
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: is now some great quarterback or whatever you want to
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: call it. And he said that he didn't throw any interceptions.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I was like, so that's the that's the bottom line
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: is that if you only drop back to pass eighteen times.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Six of them are off play action and all the
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: other ones there's some sort of manage drop back where
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: you really only have one read going on on the field,
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: and he don't throw it to the other team. Now,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: all of a sudden, you are franchise quarterback like that
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: is our that's our baseline now for it, because that's ridiculous.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: How bad would you have to be to throw an
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: interception in those conditions? Right out the fact that he
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: froze in the pocket twice and took two sacks in
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: the game, that he missed a open Hunter Henry on
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: third down and overtime because he panicked in the pocket again.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: But let's take all of that out, because he didn't
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: throw the ball to the other team. He's yeah, don't
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: mean that game either. My real question would be what
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: did Hoyer do in that game? Forget about what you
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: think of Hoyer? Right? What did Hoyer do in that
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: game that you said can't play him again? Right? Right?
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Because yesterday I think you were kind of making the
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I mean, he threw six passes the other guy through fifteen.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: He played the whole game. He played the whole He
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: played four quarters worth of football and he threw fifteen
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: passes Hoyer through six. Does that tell you a little
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: bit about what the coaches thought, right? I don't know, Like,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: do you want to win? I mean, or you just
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: want to see this new guy? Right? And if you
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: think that, like the emailer said that the season is over, yeah,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: then that's different. That's fine. I don't think like that.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: At one in three. I think there's far too much
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: football to be even if he think the season's over.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I want to see the offense run at its full capacity,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: meaning the full play book, you know, and with Zappy
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: you really can't do that. Yeah. Yeah, if I thought
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: the season was really over, I would never advocate hoy
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: or over Zappy, Okay, because I think you better served
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: long term to get another quarterback as much. I mean,
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: you have an opportunity now. Is unfortunate as it is
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: to not have your starting quarterback available, So I don't
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: need a thirty something year old veteran backup to play.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: That's not helping my offense. I don't know. I don't
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: run my team just for one guy. I'm not running
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: it for one guy. I'm running it for the team.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: It's better for the team to have a young guy,
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: get reps if you're if you're truly out of it.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: Not at one in three. We're not even close to that.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I mean, you lose the next two games and you're
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: one in six and you're one in five. Rather that's
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: that could be a different story, But that's not for
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: one guy. That's not just for Bailey Zappy. That helps
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: the team. Do I need a backup quarterback next year
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: that I have to pay for? Well? Can I save
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: some money on that slot and have this guy who's
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: going to be every bit is effective as a as
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: a backup or maybe he can't play. We find that
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: out now. It's just interesting because I think the goal
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: when they drafted Mac and now that they're crafting this
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: offense around Mac Jones. Bailey Zappy ran an air raid
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: system at Western Kentucky. But there are some similarities to
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: where they're going, and I feel like the system fit
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: the new system, fit whatever you want to call it.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: As Mac as the starter and Bailey as the backup
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: makes a lot of sense. Like they're very stylistically similar quarterbacks.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: So what I found interesting on Sunday was that they
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: ran a bunch of under center stuff with Bailey Zappy
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: at Western Kentucky. I think you can count on one
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: hand the amount of times he was under center. Like
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: it's a spread air raid offense where even kneel downs.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: They took kneel downs in the gun. He didn't even
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: go under center for kneel downs. So that's the type
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: of offense. They ran the Hilltoppers, by the way, and
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: they come out on Sunday and he's under center a bunch.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: And I asked him about it yesterday and he said,
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: I feel a lot more comfortable with it than I
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: did a year ago playing under center. So he's been
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: working on it hard. You know. After practice he said,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: why do you think they did that? Well, I think
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: that the opportunity is off play action. We're just making
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: it so easy for him to complete passes down the
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: field that it was the right thing to do. I mean,
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: you don't get a wide open Davante Parker for a
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: touchdown twenty five yards out without some play action and
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: some misdirection. He's selling him short. He runs play action
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: better better than Mac, really, Ben ben voland they need
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: to get Mac up to speed on these play actions.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: Has nothing to do with the fact that you're ran
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: the ball thirty eight plays in a row and had
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: him under center and ran a couple of play Actually,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: it really sells that fake Zack and Brighton. In your opinion,
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: do you think there is a better approach to Thornton's return,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: assuming he is close to fully healthy. Either A, start
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: him as soon as he's available, but with Zappi at quarterback,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: or B give him some extra time over these twenty
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: one days and see if you could time it out
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: with Mac returning. Well, let's let's throw the Thornton question
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: at Evan. I'm curious what my short answer to that is.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: I don't it's the quarterback that any of the quarterback
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: shouldn't impact Thornton's return. It should be his health. Um.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: The question we discussed earlier, UM was Thornton comes back?
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: How do you how do you divide up the snaps?
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Like who kind of who do you eat into? Or
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: do I mean do you even? I mean does something
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: have to be done? I mean you can't them to
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: eat into? Or who will they eat? What do you
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: think will have I'll answer both. I think the first
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: one who I want to see them eating the snaps
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: is DeVante Parker because we're all in agreement, Tykwon should
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: be playing the X, right, and you have him at
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: the X and Aglare at the Z on first down,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: and all of a sudden you got some speed on
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: the field and in their under center stuff and the
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: things that they do out of that personnel grouping, the
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: X is really the one that's taking the top off
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: the defense, and the Z is the guy that's going
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: to see all the targets. So the ball is not
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: necessarily going to go to Tykewon Thornton unless the safety
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: jumps Nelson underneath or it's a breasted coverage or something
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: like that. So it's not like he's going to go
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: in and play his high volume role, which I think
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: is probably for the best at least until that collarbone
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: is one hundred and ten percent and stead of just,
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: you know, a hundred. So I would like to see
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: him get in there with some of those snaps for
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: DeVante Parker because really, other than that, I mean, you're
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: not going to have him play in little Jordan Humphrey
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: spot because you're not gonna have him block like that
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: like little Jordan Humphries blocking, And I don't really know
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: where else he fits in, So it's really just kind
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: of that's your really your only option. But what I
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: got to do, I got the need for speed. I mean,
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: I gotta see Taekwon like this is. This is a
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: guy in training camp that clearly showed that he can
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: do something on the football field with that four two eight,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: and they desperately needed. I mean, him and Agala are
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: together is as fast as they've been on the outside
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: and in quite some time, probably like Brandon Cooks. Yeah,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: and what what I like to see from him, uh
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: during the summer was he got off the line quick.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: He wasn't just fast, he was able to get free
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: quickly off the line, which I wondered about, you know,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: because can he get jammed up and we'll let you know,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: stunt his ability to get down field. But no, he
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: was able to elude the guy even when it was
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: I press. He was able to get around him really quickly. Yeah,
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: it was. It was similar to what I kind of said.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: I mean, I was saying, put him on between the twenties,
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: you know, to stretch the field the night. I mean,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I like the Parker can test to catch of it all.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: But I don't know how effective that is up and
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: down the field. You know, put him in in the
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: red zone and chuck him out. I think Parker's the
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: guy too. I just I'm looking at the amount of
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: playing time that Parker gets and I think it's unrealistic.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Like I think they love him. That's that's where I'm
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: at with it, too, is that that's the guy. That
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: is the obvious way to get him off the field.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: But I don't know if they'll take Parker off the
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: field based off of what they've done. But I think
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: at the same time, you got the vertical element, and
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: you also have Tai Kwon potentially horizontally stretching the defense
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: as well. Like even I don't think it'd be a
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: great idea to give a hundred and seventy five pound
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: receiver jet sweeps and things like that, but even the
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: threat of him coming in motion or something like that
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: before the snap can get the defense to do some
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: different things that can open up some holes for other guy.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: So those are the types of things that I just
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: I think it's too the speed translated too well in
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: training camp and in the preseason to not use it
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: in some capacity, even if he's only out there for
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: fifteen twenty snaps a game. And I wondered if it
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: might do something with Born, you know, maybe move him
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: before the deadline for something they feel because I don't
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: know if there's enough snaps. I mean, they already can't
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: seem to get Born any like significant playing time. As
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: you said, they love Humphrey in this role. I mean,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: obviously they wouldn't put as you said, they wouldn't put
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Thornton in that role. But could you eliminate Humphrey from
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: the equation and just not have I mean, I don't
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: think a lot of teams, you know, have wide receivers
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: that they think, up, we got to have him, you know,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: out there thirty five forty five players a game because
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: we need to run the ball like wide receiver. I
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: don't think that that's a necessity to your your running game. Um.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: I wonder if how they find a way to get
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: him not only onto the roster, but in all in
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: the offense. Tim writes in I was also at the
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: game in seventy nine when a halftime the crowd determined
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: the logo going forward. I believe it was a Monday
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: night game, and what I remember most was yelling at
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: people not to boo the new logo since it was
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: a decibel meter making the call. I agree. A lot
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: of people didn't like the Patriots logo the old one,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: but I always loved it and can't wait to wear
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: the old logo Sunday and see it on the field.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Have a great day. And by the way, Evan has
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: been a great addition to the team. I find him
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: very knowledgeable and he has a great way about him.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: So you can unblock him on the bush. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: they were. People were yelling we want the old one
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: at that game. By the way, it was a Sunday,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: It was a Sunday game. It was a regular Sunday game. Okay,
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: I do remember it, okay. And someone actually had sent me, Um,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: this is a while back now. Someone had sent me
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: like an old newspaper clip from it the team like
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: it was all a Billy Sullivan production, Like they came
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: up with it in marketing, like it was a whole
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: campaign and they put a release out with it. This
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: is what they're gonna do. This is how it's going
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: to get voted on. And the email is right, Um,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: negative comments for one or the other, We're just going
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: to get attached to pod. Like they couldn't decipher whether
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: or not you were saying we want this or we
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: hate this. If there was noise that was going to
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: get a vote for the you know, and people would
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: literally yeah. It was like it was like Reagan Mondale. Yeah,
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: like it was a complete blow with a blowout. This
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: is the problem with nineteen seventy ninety. Nowadays, we can
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: just do a Twitter poll and there's there's no decibel
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: levels that we need to worry about. But I remember
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: that what didn't that old logo have, Like the flag
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: was like it was a little Yeah, it was an
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: awful logo that was worse. It was. Yeah, the old
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: one was better than than the new one, but it
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: was little. It was a little Elvis like, but it
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: had it had the flag waving at the end. It
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: was kind of more square. Okay, um, it was. It
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: was kind of funny looking. I agree the pat Patriot
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: was better. Andrew and La the poll on ninety eight
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: point point five should have been a mack at seventy
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: five percent, be zappy see a healthy Hoyer or d
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: not having fun going twelve and four every year. That's
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: that's what I appreciate that. Thank you, not just produce
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: Oh it's a burden. We lived through it. You know,
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: we didn't know how we made it. Do you think
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: he was the championship be here or an India and
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: you was so depressed. It amazes me how that depressed you, Joel. Right, then,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: if Zappy comports himself well against the Lions and finds
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: a way to win, is there any financial benefit to
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: cutting Hoyer and going with Zappy as QB two. It's
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: actually a detriment to their salary cap. There's dead money. Yeah,
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: he's got guaranteed money. Everybody hates Brian Hoyer. That's why
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: they just want him to be a coach or just
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: get out of the way. Yeah, that's why they couldn't
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: do the you know, check with us later thing with
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: Brian Hoyer on cutdown days because they guarantee him money
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: this year. Let's see Brent in Indiana. One of those
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: tight ends that isn't top of the line talent but
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: is producing reasonably well is the Jets tight end. He
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: also has had Flacco and Wilson throwing to him. So
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: what I was saying earlier, you weren't here. You know,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I just wish we could get some production out of
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: our tight end position. And now I know Smith is
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: hurt now, But like I watch other NFL games and
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: it just seems like even average tight ends are getting
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: like one or two plays a game where they're like
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: twenty yards down field and wide open. And I think
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: it's because I would the Jets have good wide receiver. Yes,
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: none of them would make that argument. None of our
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: outside guys right now are commanding double teams and it's
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: allowing teams to kind of crowd the middle in our
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: tight ends just aren't. We don't have those opportunities now.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: It could come down the quarterback play too, but I
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: just wish we could get those, you know, one or
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: two plays out of our tight ends per game that
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: other teams seem to be getting even with average tight ends.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: I think with John Who, he's a schemed tight end
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: right like, you got to use him properly. He's not
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: a route runner. To me, that's that that you know,
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: what's the point there if you have to really scheme
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: it up to get to it. Well, I think that
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: that was a big reason why we saw so much
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: of the bootleg stuff in the outside zone stuff in
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: training camp was the idea was to eventually use John
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Who on those slide routes. Where they just kind of
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: bring the guy across the formation and dump it to
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: him in the flat. And that was supposed to be
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: his role in that system, which is why it made
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: sense for him. I also would say, you know, in Tennessee,
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: he was a pretty good seam runner, which we don't
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: see a lot of here, and that what I would say,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: is quarterback related. Yeah, that has trouble in the seam
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: seeing the defense. Yeah, he's more of like a slot
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: fade quarterback to drop it in the bucket instead of
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: really but to Evan's point, I saw a ton especially
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: in the spring, but even in training camp of those
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: zone runs where you know it's hard play actually you
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: give it one of these, you pull it out in
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: that little half boot and then you get the deep
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: over going to the opposite sideline, and that was Jonah
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Smith a lot. Yeah, but you an arm for that. Well,
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: you need to be able to run the ball so
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: you can drop out a bucket. Yeah, but you also
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: need to a good arm together. If anybody can see that,
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: that's that's the logo. That's awful. Throw that together, Like
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: you have to come up with the logo in ten minutes.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: And they're like that's no wonder the old one. It's
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: the one. It's Elvis. It is the same. It absolutely
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: is Elvis with you know, without the waving. Could make
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: it in five steps. It's like baked back to Bacon.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sorry, you can't tell me you hate
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: this and love that. Well, I'll come on, they're not
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: even close. That's not close. I mean, well, the quality
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: of the it's just so much right. Yeah, but all
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: it is is cleaned up. It's the same concept the
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: Elvis itself. It's the same face, Like, how can you
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: say that that's not it's it's not and I think
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: it's the concept is the same. The concept is the same,
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: but the Elvis is much better. Come on, come on, Paul,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: come on. You know what I feel about the Elvis.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: I know, hate, but compared to that one on top,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: it's oh I don't like the one on top. I
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: didn't like the new one at the time either. But
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: I think we I think Mike is right. I think
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: we modernized it. This is all we did. The problem
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: is our mascot is a human. Yeah, you know, it
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: is tough. Yeah, unless it's like a pirate like that
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: historical human too. It's not even like a current human.
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: I mean, I guess it. Technically it could be a
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: current human, but yeah, it's not the you know, And
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: I get and I get like those guys and tricorn
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: hats were probably tough mothers, you know. They they they
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: survived Mountain Boys, they survived Gettysburg and all that stuff.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Like I can't do that, you know, but like we
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: have still the out The outfit didn't conquer, you know,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: you know, it doesn't conjure upon Getty's bird. Yeah, yeah, Germans,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: you know, like it doesn't conjure up like fear. What
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: the tricorn hat? Yeah, and the cloak cut people talking
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: crap about it. You're like, well then you're you're not American? Right,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: come on, I mean, all right, we're on the high
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: ground on patriotism. But I'm just I'm just saying. Russell
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: in Arkansas, he hears that the reason why Tom and
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: Giselle are getting a divorces because I kissed Tom. That
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: could be, yeah, it could be I could have gotten
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: back to him. Who else is he kissed? Yeah? Uh,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: let's see what else have we got, Eldred, It's almost
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: time for picks. But oh, that's right, gotta take, gotta take.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: Let me let me take Eldred off the phone line
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: and then we'll do picks. Eldred. What's up, hey, fellows,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: how y'all doing today? Good video? So where where are
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: you watching us on YouTube? Or where are you watching us? Oh? No,
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: oh on the app? Okay, okay, all right, ye's feel
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: pretty good. Hey. I know you'll keep talking about the
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: tide end play. I keep wondering too, but I'm not
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: bashing the ot yet. But I've been bashing all year's season.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: But don't you think it might be on the play column?
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: You could those tied end least in rhythm of some
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: kind of plays, especially if you ever get close to
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: the goal line. Matt Patricia's dog couse must be the
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: size of Gillette Stadium, which is just silly. Don't you
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: hear what Dan Campell has to say about him? Well,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: even you probably know the answer to that. What's the
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: compared to last year through four games? How are we
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: doing in plays in the red zone in terms of percentage? Yeah?
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: Not well yeah, but I think the biggest thing that
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: you're seeing well, I mean not to like completely pick
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: on the execution again, but Hunter Henry Early on in
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: the game, Brian Hoyer throws one over his head open
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: on third down over time play. I keep bringing up
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: open over the middle, so there was opportunities to get
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Hunter Henry that ball. What about the trips to the
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: red zone compared to last year? They're driving the football, Well,
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: they're they're always even like in the Cam Newton this year. Yeah,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: they they're yards per the red zone like twice twice
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: a game. Yards per drive, they're up up there. I
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: mean like above league average, which but I'm talking. They
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: got to the red zone twice on Sunday appared to
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: last year through four games that number. I I don't
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: know exactly. I know they're down there in red zone
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: scoring efficiency and they're and they're usually an above average
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: yards per drive team, but maybe that those drives are
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: now they're really in trouble this week because Detroit leads
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: the league and yards per play and we all know
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: that's the indication of a good team. Mike Lombardi taught
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: me that a couple of weeks ago. Yeah. Yeah, but
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: I think in the red zone you do see a
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: lot of teams. I think know that Hunter Henry is
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: the guy down I just don't think they've had as
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: many opportunities. They haven't. They haven't been in the room.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: I mean Baltimore game, they got to the red zone.
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: I think they were like three for five in the
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: Baltimore game something like that. They got to the red
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: zone a lot against Baltimore. They did not get to
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: the red zone a lot against Miami Pittsburgh war right,
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: but when you see they obviously understandable given Baileys out,
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: But when you score from the twenty five with a
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: touchdown of Davante Parker, that's one. Okay, but that's that's
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: a third time. That's fair enough. I mean, I'm just wondering, like,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: how many opportunities has Hunter Henry had in the red
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: I just think, why does he only get Why does
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: he only have to have opportunities in the red zone.
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: That's the part I don't get that he was very
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: effective there last year, but he was very effective in
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: the entirety of the field. He had fifty catches, only
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: nine of them were touchdowns. So right now, and yards
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: per drive, the Patriots are eighteenth in the league, so
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: right around league average in offensive yards per drive, so
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: they're they're not a bad team in terms of actually
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: moving the ball between that's not the question. No, I
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: know what the question is. That one is the next
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: level one that I'm gonna have to do. Missus Stetton's
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: like bill, like opening day. I mean we crossed midfield
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: five times? Wow? Yeah? Whoa yeah? How many times have
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: they been in the red zone? Red zone opportunities? What else? Saldrid?
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: My question? Do I hate if they do this? Get
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: rid of boring? But okay, they say they'd trade them.
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: What about the money you guaranteed him whatever they did?
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Money or do if you trade them, the salary goes
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: to the team that trades form. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, the
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: base salt the best salary. That's different than cutting him
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: when when you cut him, because you have to absorb,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: you have to absorb everything. Okay, okay, but but it's
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: a clime waste just to waste their guy because of something,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: to have him doing the stormber or whatever. Yeah. I
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: don't think it's just that that's too much. I don't
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: all right, thank you, thanks Aldred. It's that time of
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: the week, Paul. What happened last week? All right? Uh? Well,
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: this blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: That's me Mike thirteen and three, Wow, followed by Evan
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: and Paul at twelve and four, and Alex and Fred
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: at eleven and five. So you can see it was
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: a rather easy week week with the spread Mike and
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: Paul at ten five and one, followed by Evan at
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: nine six and one, Fred at eight seven and one.
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: Congrats Fred one game over five hundred and Alex six
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: nine and one. So these are the standings as follows. Overall,
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: Paul continues to dominate thirty nine twenty four and one,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: so Mike thirty three thirty in one and Fred thirty
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: two thirty and one. So they're the only ones that
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: have all four weeks. Evan twelve and four obviously, Alex
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: thirty and eighteen I think she's done three weeks, and
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Tamara seven eight and one. So with the spread for
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: the season it is Paul thirty seven twenty six and one,
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: followed by Mike at thirty thirty three and one, Fred
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: at twenty four thirty nine and one, Alex is twenty
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: two twenty five and one, and then Evan and so
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: it's getting very confusing on my sheet. Now I have
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: partial weeks, I have people coming and going, I have
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: people emailing picks after the fact, we'll have to start
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: to win percentage instead of the actual number. All right, Tonight,
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: Thursday night, eight fifteen, the Colts are of course in
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: Denver playing the Broncos. One two and one Colts against
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: the two and two Broncos. Yeah no, Jonathan Taylor, right,
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: So that's that's a big one. They're outdoors in Denver
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: battle the Peyton Mannings. Uh. You know what, I'm gonna
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: go with Indie for the upset in Denver. I'm taking Denver.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: Matt Ryan leads the league in fumbles right now by quarterbacks,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: has nine fumbles through four games, no one. And that's
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: what Trevor Lawrence having four last game alone. Wow. So
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: Denver both ways, both ways, I will take Denver to
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: win the game. I will take the hook however, in
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: India to keep it close. It's three and a hay three. Yeah,
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Broncos both ways. Um, Sunday,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: this is in the morning at nine thirty Eastern time
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The three and one Giants are
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: being hosted by the three and one Packers. Packers by
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: eight and a half. You know this is the first
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: time that teams with winning records played each other in London?
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: Is that right? Wow? Good for London's good for London,
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: good for the London. I'm gonna take green Bay to win,
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: but I'm gonna take those points. I think it'll I
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: think it'll be a little close. I don't think green
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: Bay's ready to roll just yet. I'm doing the same thing,
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: exact same reason. Yeah, I'm only taking green Bay both
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: ways because I think their giants are gonna be down
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: to like, I don't know, Davis web or someone who's
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: playing quarterback for the Giants. Yeah, if they had Daniel
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Jones was healthy, I would I would take the points,
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: but I won't. Yeah, I don't think. I don't think
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: he's healthy. Even if he plays, I'm gonna take the
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: pack both ways. Yeah. I think Bill calls Aaron Rodgers
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: during the week and tells him how to be Brian Dable.
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: What are you doing? Ill? We're not like Brian Dable? Now. Well,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: you know, Aaron's his new his new buddy. It's Aaron
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: from State Farm. Three in the morning. Hey, boo oh
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: you up. This is how you be, This is how
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: you beat Brian. He's just so good. I was just
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: thinking about that passenger against US. So he played like
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: he was in a coma for thirty plus minutes. But
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: he's just so good. Uh. Sunday at one, the one
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: in three Steelers are at the three and one Bills
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: Bills by fourteen. Kenny two gloves. I actually think he's
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: gonna be okay for them. He's got to be better
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: than your bisky, right, um. But I don't think it's
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: gonna matter. I think Buffalo. I think Buffalo is gonna
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: get back on track. I think a lot of injuries though,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: you know what, I'm gonna take Buffalo to win, but
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: I'm just gonna take the points for fun. I'm going
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: to do the same thing. It's just because whenever it's fourteen,
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: it spread like that is a lot, even for the Bills.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: I agree, it's a lot. I'm gonna lay the points. However,
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: I just think Buffalo that was a big win for
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: them last week. I think that they build off of that.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: This would be a good time for me to say
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: how wrong I was about Pittsburgh just sort of continuing
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: without Roethlisberger. I missed that one. Yeah, I thought they'd
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: be better. I thought they would get better quarterback play
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: than they did last year. It's basically been the same terrible.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: You know, it's interesting the Steelers and the Patriots are
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: always wrong one in three. But I think if you
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: ask the average Patriot fan, they would say, oh, we're
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: in a much better position than the Steelers. But are
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: we you know, like well they I mean, we're both
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: have quarterback problems right now. Yeah, and they lost their
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: best player I mean by far and T J. Watt. Yeah, true,
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't think they're in a good spot.
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: Yeah I don't. I do think that the Steamer's season
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: is closer to being over than the Patriots. Yeah, sure,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: I would concur but I think there's a little zappy
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: thing going on where you're about to put your rookie
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: quarterback in and you have that like optimism of like,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe he's gonna be amazing, you know
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: that guy, that's what people do one day. One day,
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: I'm going to see him have a bad day. I'm
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: gonna go with the Bills. Both ways. They will cover
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: Sunday at one The two and two Chargers are at
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: the two and two Cleveland Browns Chargers by two and
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: a half Herbert, A lot of a lot of injuries
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: continue for the Charges. I'm gonna go with Cleveland as
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: home dogs. I just I think they'll I think they'll
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: hold surf. Do we know if Miles Garrett's playing in
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: this game or not because he practiced Yester accident, he
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: did practice yesterday. I'll go with Herbert and we'll go
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: with the better quarterback. This is a tough one. Take
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: the Chargers. I'll take them. Yeah. I do worry about
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: Mike's right about the injuries for the Chargers, but I
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: just can't bet on Jacoby Brissette. I'll take the Chargers. Yeah,
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: I will too. Um Sunday at one, the O three
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: and one Texans visit the two and two Jaguar, the
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: only winless team in football. Jacksonville by seven. Yeah, I'm
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: gonna take Jacksonville. I think they're they're working with an
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: actual football team this year. I will I will lay
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: the points as well. I'll take Jacksonville and I'll take
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: the points as well. They'll take the points. Yeah, Okay,
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna do Lama. I like, Yeah, I'm gonna do
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: the same as ev. I'm gonna take take the points.
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: I'll take Jacksonville to win, but Houston to hang around
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: and keep it reasonably close. Does it make me a
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: bad Patriots fans problem rooting for Trevor Lawrence? No? No, why?
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: I think? Well, he's AFC. Don't fall into like this
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: like psycho but the question. But it's a psychosis. The
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: only Patriots fans would be concerned about. Like, if you're
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: a guy, if you a guy is good, why do
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: you care about anybody else? I'm rooting Trevor Lawrence. I
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: want to do it, you know, but somehow your guy
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: can't just be good. He has to like eat better
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: than all the other guys that were drafted. I know.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: I like, if you're a guy's good and you win
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: a super Bowl with him, what do you care? I know?
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: But I do want. I want Trevor Lawrence to do well.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: I feel bad for him. I think he's really good.
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: I'll tell you the guy I feel bad for now
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: his fields because I watched some clips that Danilowski put
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: together with that game that was criminal. Some of the
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: like just taking a shotgun snap, catching the snap, looking
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: up and having three guys within like two yards of them. Well,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Jacksonville. Both ways. And speaking of
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: the Bears, Uh, they're at two and two and they're
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: heading to Minnesota to take on the three and one Vikings.
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: Vikings by seven. How how they got two wins. I'm
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: gonna take the Vikings at home, not on prime time.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: I think that. I think they'll beat up on Chicago. Yeah,
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: I agree with that as well, Kirk Cousins at one
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: o'clock when nobody's watching Prime Time right there, I'll take
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: the Vikings. Like I said, that Chicago team I think
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: is the worst in football. Yeah, I will as well. Uh.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: Sunday at one, the two and two Seahawks are at
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: the one and three Saints. Saints by five and a
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: half over the fighting Gino Smiths. Yeah, fighting Gino Smiths
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: get more respect than they should. Yes, I know some
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: people thought they were like a Peter dark Horse super
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: Bowl team, right. Um, Yeah, I'm gonna tough one. You
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: lose your quarterback, though, I don't know I'm gonna. I'm
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: gonna take New Orleans to win, but I'm gonna take
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: those points for Seattle. I'm taking Gino straight up. It's tempting. Yeah,
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: I will take New Orleans both ways. I'm gonna take
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: the points. But are you taking New Orleans to win? Yeah? Okay,
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: but I'll take the points. Yep. I got it that
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: game last week by Gino against the Lions. Impresses Gino
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: cook better than Russell Wilson, Papa Gino. Um Sunday at one,
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: the three and one Dolphins are at the two and
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: two Jets Teddy Bridgewater. Yeah, Miami buy three. Miami by
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: three with Teddy two gloves. Uh, Jets. Jets are playing
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: a little bit better. But I'm gonna I'm gonna go
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: with Miami even with Teddy two gloves. I will lay
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: those points. I'm taking Miami. I'm taking them to cover.
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: You have Tyreek Hill on your team. A lot of
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: people can play quarterback. Be interested in to see how
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: they use Sauce Gardner in that game against those dynamic receivers.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: But I'm with the panel, hair, I'll take Miami both ways.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: They'll play n folks. This is your upset, lock of
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: the way. I hope you're right. Win this game out right,
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: that would be awesome. They're underdogs, so if they win,
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: so it'll be out right if they win out right, Yes,
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: that's how you say it. That was gambling probably I
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: don't understand. Good job, good job, Fred. What does the Fred? Now? Yeah?
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: All right, yeah, so I'm not fading the Jets this week?
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: How could you? Sunday at one the two and two
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: Falcons are at the two and two Buccaneers. But what
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: is the mindset of the quarterback? He's also hurt shoulder
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: and finger injuring. Yeah, Bucks by nine, Noine, I guess
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: the Sharps don't think it'll affect him that Noick, Marcus Mariota,
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: what did you just say, Mordicus Mariota before that? I
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: don't know. I want you to replay that one again.
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: I need that one, but I want that one over
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: the weekend. I think he just did it again. And
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: you know what I heard, right, yea, yea, yeah, no, yeah,
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: you don't even know what you're doing it with that
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: smile on your face. That how do you do? To
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: the video? Go to the video. I'm gonna I'll take Tampa.
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: I'll take Tampa and I'll lay the points. I'm assuming
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: this spread is what it is because the Bucks own
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: the Falcons and the Brady era. That's one of those
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: divisional things, and I like the Bucks. No. Cordell Patterson
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: anymore for Atlanta is a big one. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: take the Bucks both ways too. I think they bounced back.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: I thought the offense actually looked reasonably good last week.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: You know, some of it was was window dressing at
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: the end, but I thought in the first half they
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: kind of got caught their gear with with Evans and Godwin,
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: I'm I'm will be back. I'm with team Tom. I
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: know that. I texted him. I said, if you need
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: a place to crash while you're going through this, you know,
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: you need, you know, kiss or a shoulder to cry.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: You want to sleep up my couch for a couple
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: of months, you know while you get settled, extra bedroom,
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: go ahead? Um yeah, so Bucks both ways. A lot
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: of Sunday at one games. Um, Titans at two and
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: two are in Washington one and three. Is anybody gonna
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: watch this game? Titan's by two and a half. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: I don't like it. I just can't go with Carson Wentz.
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Tennessee and I'll lay the points. Yeah,
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: I have enough faith in Rabel against the guy. I
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: like Carson Wentz that you take Tennessee. I don't like
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: it though, Yeah, I don't think the Titans are great,
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: but I will take them to win this game. Me too, Titans.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: Right now, we skip over the Patriots at one o'clock
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: and we moved to four oh five the two and
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: two forty nine Ers led by Jimmy Garoppolo, or at
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: the Panthers one and three San Francisco buy six and
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: a half, six and half by geez, wow, that went up.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna take San Francisco and I will lay the points.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: I think the worst you've mentioned Chicago, they might have worst.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: Carolina's offense is one of the worst offenses in the NFL.
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: Right now, hands dead. That's another one. Roulovski spins hours,
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: no rhyme or reason to what they're doing. This what
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: people thought the Matt Patricia ero was gonna be like here,
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: So I'll take San Francisco and I'll take them the cover. Yeah,
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: I will take the Niners as well. I think that
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: defense is legit. Yet attack. Who's that the guy that
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: kept on comparing to Troy Polamalu and the broadcast the
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: other day. I've blanking on his name, but I can play. Yeah.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: Does he have long hair? Yes, Troy polam I didn't
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: watch the game, so I don't know. I know who
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: he's talking about. Yeah, I took the Niners. I will too. Um.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: Is Matt Rule gonna last a season? No? No? Is
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: this David Tepper guy like a short fuse guy. Will
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: he fire him or no? But I think he's h
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: He hasn't fired him yet, which I think is impressive honestly. Yeah.
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: Yeah for a new a new owner not getting any results. Yeah, you.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: I think Evan's right. You expect those guys to be impulsive. Yeah.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: UM four twenty five, the four and no Eagles the
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: only undefeated team. UM are at the Cardinals two and
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: two Eagles by five and a half, five and a
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: hay huh. I'm gonna take Philadelphia to win. I'm gonna
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: take the points for Arizona at home. I think it'll
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: be close one. I'll do the same thing. But that
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: Cardinals team is grossly underperforming right now, and I don't
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: I don't really like trusting them at all, even to cover.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: But I'll do the same thing. Yeah, I'm gonna do
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: the same I think five and a half is too
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: many for a home dog with talent. I will take
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: the points as well. I'll take the hook is that right? Well, no,
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: not really, no, but I know you meant okay, um
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: four twenty five three and one Cowboys, big surprise against
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: the two and two Rams, Rams by five and a half.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: That's an interesting one, um ms Rams and in fighting,
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: couple a couple of defense and now it's a couple
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: of defensive players getting in a fight. Yeah. The other night,
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: some term Stafford not playing well. He could have had
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: several picks in that game that were dropped by the
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: Nooiners lobby lagger in legal trouble for laying out the streaker,
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: a lot of complications. Uh, you know, I'm gonna take
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Rams to win, but I'm gonna
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: take the points for Dallas. I think it's it's a close,
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: good game, and do the same thing. The Rams are
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: in a bad way right now though their offense is
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: nobody but Cooper Rush, Cooper cups and even Aaron Donne
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: is not quite as dominant as Aaron Donald usually is.
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: And he's been talking about retirement the last couple off seasons.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: You wonder if maybe he's got his ring as well
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: and slowing down well, and you know he's been thinking
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: about it. Yeah, but I am going to take the
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: Rams to bounce back, and I think this may be
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: one of those uh market correction games for Cooper Rush
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: at some point. Like I mean, I give him all
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: the credit of the word. These playing looks. They're not
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: playing games like they're playing with a backup quarterback. They're
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: playing normal football, and they're playing well. Their defense has
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: been outstanding. But I think that the Rams might might
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: break out. I'm with you, Paula. This Cooper Rush thing
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: has to end. It's an abomination us both ways. Sunday night,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: the two and two Bengals are at the two and
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: two Ravens. Ravens buy three games, So the Ravens are
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: up seventeen, say, two minutes left in the third quarter.
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: What do you think happens watching That's what happens every
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: home game for the Ravens. You're watching that pregame and
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: Fred in the press box, and I was very disappointed
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: that they didn't. Oh yeah, you know, like the Bills
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: are gonna come back, aren't they. Well, when Patrick Queen
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: dropped that interception, I said, I said to Fred, if
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: they come back, that's going to be the play. Yeah,
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: they overcame. That dropped interception by Patrick Queen the week before.
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: Evidently he got bad hands. Yea, that's twice. I saw
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: him getting hit in the six and I saw the
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: play that Evan's talking about. I can't believe he didn't
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: catch that, y as Queen. I'm gonna take I'm gonna
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: take Baltimore to win and I'm gonna lay the points.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: Tough call, but this is a division game. I'm gonna
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: take Baltimore two and I'm going to take them to cover.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: But that secondary against that pass offense as Cincinnati does
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: scare me. Yeah, I'm gonna take the Ravens, just just
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: the the home team the game. We're in Cincinnati. As
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: you like to say, I would probably go the other way. Tough,
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: tough division game. I think these are two really good
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: football teams, pretty evenly matched teams. I'll take the Ravens.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: I didn't hate the Bengals. I take them. I'm taking
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: the Ravens day night. The rain is one in three
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: at the Chiefs three and one, Kansas City by seven
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: and a half, seven and a half. I just saw
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: a stat of like Kansas City's record in division. It's ridiculous.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: I am pulling for Josh I'm gonna take Kansas City
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: to win. I do think the Raiders put up some points,
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: so I will take that seven and a half points,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: but I like Kansas City to win. I'm gonna take
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: Kansas City, and I'm gonna take them to win, Big Josh.
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: The best quarterback in the league right now, in my
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: mind is Patrick Mahomes. Okay, I trust controversy. I will
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: take Kansas City as well, but I'll be with Deuce.
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: I will take the I will take the hook. I'm
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: with Evan. I think Kansas City rolls to a win here.
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: All right. Now, we go back to one o'clock and
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: the one in three Lions are at the one in
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: three Patriots. Patriots by three and a half, three and
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: a half. I don't know who the shows like. Fred,
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I don't have the information for you today. Okay, Well,
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: the Deuce likes New England. I'm gonna take the Patriots.
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: I will lay the points. I think they I think
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: they hold the lines two around twenty points. I got something,
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: you know, twenty seven seventeen, somewhere in that range. I
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: think I think they win. I'm not exactly handily, but
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: by a score and a half or so. Yeah, I'll
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: take the Patriots too, but I think it's a close.
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: I think you said three and a half, three and
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: a half. It's a three point game. Oh the hoof.
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: I don't know if Freddy will be able to take that.
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: You're ticker. I worry about you. Yeah, I worry about you.
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: I am going to take the Patriots as well, and
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: I am going to take him to cover by the
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: slimmest of margins twenty seven twenty three. But that's enough
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: for a cover with a three and a half points spread.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: I had a dream I had last night, and I'm
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: not gonna pick this point. I had a dream that
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: the Patriots won this game, like forty three to seven.
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: It's funny. I had a dream that a guy that
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: I coached baseball with a Peabody little league last night
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: was named the new head coach of the New York Jets. Okay,
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: Sean Flannagan new head coach of the Jets was what
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: was the score of the Thanksgiving game where they were
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: the throwbacks, Brady long Hair? It might have been forty
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: three seven. Maybe that that game was close, that that
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: game was tied after three quarters and the Patriots won
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: it with a twenty one point just started absolutely imploye game.
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: It was one of these. Of course it wasn't Matthew Stafford.
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: Why would the starting quarterback play again? It was somebody
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: I feel I can't remember, but I remember the d
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: I remember the Branch touchdown. He played a great three
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: quarters and then he threw. I think he had two
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: picks in the fourth quarters. Guy, I'm gonna say that
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: Devin mccordy had a pick in that game, huh. In
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: the red uniforms. It was like forty five twenty four
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: or something like that, But that was It was twenty
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: four twenty four after three. But I gotta look at that.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: I am gonna say the Patriots win, and I think
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: they scored some points. They may not all be offensive points.
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: Thirty to twenty seven. Patriots win, A cover for Detroit,
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: A cover for Detroit. So that's it, shook, Fred, I
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: got your red zone stats? What's okay? All right? So
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: in four games this year, the Patriots have been to
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: the red zone ten times, so that's two and a
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: half times a game. Last year they win sixty four
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: times in seventeen games, which is three point eight times
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: per game. So over a red zone drive per game
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: more last Yeah, but I just wanted to because there
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: was the Buffalo game. There's some games in there that
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: skew it. So, I mean just through the first four games. No, no,
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: but that's he's telling you. They've been in there over
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: a possession less per game than last year. But he
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: did over sixty over sixteen games, sixty four trips. Why
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: do you have to make everything so complicent? Can do?
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: Answer to the question is always simple. You guys can
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: over complicate this point. They haven't been in the red
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: zone often. You're you're correct, I know, but it might
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: even be worse than he's saying, is what I'm saying.
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: They were a top ten red zone scoring team last year,
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: seventh in the league. This year there's twenty yeah, twenty first.
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: But he's asking how many times they were in the
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: red zone? Right, red zone opportunities, red zone opportunities. He
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: gave the numbers. They've always been there. Okay, if in
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: one of those games they were there twice as often
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: as they normally are, all right, the other three games
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: they weren't there at all. You know, who can pick that?
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: That conversation up John Rook in the playbook. Please don't.
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: He's up next so he can continue that conversation. As
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: for us, we'll see you next Tuesday. What's that? Oh?
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: The read? The read? I gotta do a read? This
