Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football freeze, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographical location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's a state of being.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_05]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_05]: It's the Mile High Huddle Podcast.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_05]: I'm your host Chad Jensen and with me my fellow football priest.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_05]: You know him.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_05]: You love him.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_05]: Zach Kelberman.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_05]: Zach you'll have to forgive me if I sound a little bit weird or I'm not quite as sharp as my normal self.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'm a little bit under the weather and yet and yet I have been looking forward to this episode's act because
- 0:41[SPEAKER_05]: Broncos paid Nick Benito a pretty sizable contract he could have perhaps gotten more but he didn't want to what was your gut reaction to the to the big contract today.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_04]: George Payton's a top 5 GM chat and not 5.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_04]: The Broncos are so extremely lucky to have him running the operation.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_04]: You pay good players early.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_04]: I would have preferred it maybe a few months ago but before the season is perfect for Benito.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_04]: He came in well under Micah Parsons range.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_04]: There
- 1:11[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what it averaged out to, but it was around 26 or 27 a year, I think.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_04]: So very fair value deal for both sides, actually, and the Broncos have their lynchpin eddressor locked up for the long term.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_05]: When you think about it guys, Nick Benito really has come a very long way because if you were amongst the crew following his rookie year that was like, oh man, I don't know about this guy like he came in he couldn't win a starting job.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_05]: Trust, you weren't alone as Mr. Producers about to show you, Nick Benito himself doubted, whether or not he could actually be the guy that the Broncos envisioned him.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_05]: And maybe it took a little TLC, a little building up additional coaching, advanced Joseph.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_05]: Check this out real quick, guys.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_05]: You ready for this, Scott?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_03]: And especially on this point, you know, I have so many guys I think, one of them, you know, Bradley Chub who was here my rookie year, just the Simmons, you know, those were two guys, Randy Gregory, those three guys, man, they were such big parts of like keeping me going my rookie year when I was out of myself that I could play.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: just tough times for myself, y'all to myself individually, and they just kept me going, kept me working.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: All my, those guys, we met the world to me, and even though they're not here, I still appreciate everything they did.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_03]: And then another guy who was really, you know, Coach VJ, it was kind of weird, you know, when he first came here, I was coming off my rookie year, and I had like a half a sack of sack or something like that, and I
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: he tells me to come up to his office to talk to him and I'm not pretty sure he wouldn't mind me telling the story but he's just like, you know, Nick like you can be like double did just that guy in his league.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, are you sure you brought the right guy in here?
- 2:57[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I just had a one-sax season but I mean, he had ultimate confidence in me and
- 3:03[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's paid off.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I just have to wait my term and just keep working and um, I'm definitely finally got to see his vision.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_03]: So, um, a bunch of those guys, everybody in the right in the building, man.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: They just, they helping with that comment.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_05]: How cool is that, dude?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_05]: And before the record, Nick, it was one and a half sex, I'll have you know.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_05]: Um, but how cool is that?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_05]: Bring him back to a couple of guys that you might not have expected him to compliment and credit to, in terms of helping him become the
- 3:31[SPEAKER_05]: Of course, Chub and Gregory Zek.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was going to say one of those names is not like the other.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_04]: And in terms of mentioning Randy Gregory there, Chad.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_04]: But when I've, we're talking about Nick Benito and how far he's come and developed, I think of where I was when he was drafted.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_04]: And I was with you.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_04]: We were in Vegas covering the drafted.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_04]: We kind of both scratched our heads and I'll raise my hand.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_04]: I wasn't in love with the pick.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_04]: I was kind of surprised they made that pick, but I'm so happy to be wrong because he's turned into one of the best
- 4:00[SPEAKER_05]: no doubt Sam Bam jumping in on super chat one of our super stars and a great member saying even in guys footballs back we got the needle extended glad they're not paying in Parsons type money anyhow I think Broncos win this Sunday Titans 30 13 in a take care of business fashion on Sunday go Broncos 11 and six baby I love it thank you Sam means it means a lot big dog and yeah
- 4:30[SPEAKER_05]: Might have a little extra mojo going against this titan's team that qualified for the number one overall pick because of what Jeffrey Simmons said about bone X, which is to to basically sum it up cliff notes version.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_05]: He's a one read quarterback.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_05]: So if you can keep him in one read and then he runs.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_05]: So if you can keep him in the pocket, you're going to feast and Sean Payne, obviously Zach earlier this week, beg to differ.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, man, there's so many examples, Chad.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's all on tape.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_04]: Highlights of Bowenix going off script, breaking the pocket and making plays, playing backyard football.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: That's Simmons' opinion and he gave the Broncos some bulletin board material.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_04]: And I think he's gonna regret that comes Sunday afternoon.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_05]: We have the Lady D jumping in off the tip of the top rope.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_05]: a great member of the community, a great bonafide Mount Rushmore Super Chat Superstar and veritable royalty.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you, lady D for your support.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_05]: We'd love you.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_05]: We appreciate you.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_05]: And we're looking forward to seeing you here pretty soon at the meet and greet.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_05]: She says evening everyone's super excited.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_05]: The beneath toe got extended.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_05]: The deal is excellent for him and the Broncos.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_05]: everyone wins, but needle looked super happy too.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_05]: He's only going to get better.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_05]: Hashtag image age for life.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_05]: Well, Zach, that's the idea here, right?
- 5:48[SPEAKER_05]: In the NFL, especially, you're not paying, you're trying to avoid that mindset where you're paying for previous production or pay and for a guy's resume.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_05]: You're paying for what you project and expect him to do.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_05]: moving forward.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_05]: And while they're still, I mean, we haven't even started the season yet.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_05]: So those concerns about, well, was he a one-hit wonder, et cetera, et cetera?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_05]: They're going to kind of linger until he proves out there that it wasn't.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_05]: But I'm not too worried about it, Zack.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_04]: No, that's not what I was going to say too.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_04]: You're paying for potential.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_04]: You're not just paying for the here and now, but you're paying for the future.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_04]: And they, the Broncos feel like Nick Bonito was only going to get better.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: And I give it just maybe a year, two years tops before this deal chat looks like a steal for the Broncos.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_04]: Same as PS2's deal, now looks like a steal for the Broncos.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_05]: No doubt, Lady D. Thank you again, and she's also overheard by memberships for folks in the stream right now.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_05]: 20 MHH YouTube memberships.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_05]: Love you, Lady D. Thank you so much, and I'm sure the folks receiving those those memberships are appreciative as well.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_05]: The support means the world.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_05]: You know this.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_05]: Papa Bear, David Mackelrath, jumping in, speaking of superstars and valued members.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_05]: Papa Bear says, good evening, Broncos country, hashtag, here we go, 13 and 4 plus plus plus plus.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_05]: God bless you, I say, Buckham Times 3, Denver Broncos for life, MHH for life.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_05]: Let's go, Bo.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_05]: Papa Bear, you seem to be in a good mood.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_05]: And the way I can detect this is the number of hashtags in the super chat.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_05]: And that isn't meant to sound flipping.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_05]: I'm literally, that's what I've perceived you through through all the years you've been in the chat and we've been talking at each other
- 7:31[SPEAKER_05]: Great to have you big dog.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, thank you David so much.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_05]: Speaking of David, we've got Mr. Valenzuela also jumping in with a super chat.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you for that support big dog and for the generosity.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_05]: Help us keep the lights on here at MHA.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_05]: So thank you big dog means a lot to us.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_05]: Zach, I want to also throw some hello to a few members that got in early like David Youngkin.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_05]: It's just blows my mind that he's getting more per year than Peyton Manning got granted more than ten years ago But I guess that's makes me one of those old guys claiming to tradition.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know string guy saying Evening Chad's ex Scott and Broncos crazy's Benito contract looks to be fair to both sides based on last season's stats Now let's see if he can match it this year's deck.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_05]: Do you recall how much was guaranteed?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, so, you know, they're basically paying him that money for the worst of it.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_05]: Like, if there was any kind of God forbid, I'm touching what does they say this.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_05]: Like, it doesn't repeat that all pro-level double digit sack thing.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_05]: You know, basically, they're on the hook for a couple of years, a couple of years.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe three, they could live with it after two type of thing.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_05]: I don't expect that to be the case, but...
- 8:56[SPEAKER_05]: he says fair.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think it was pretty fair to both sides.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_04]: And if he ends up going, you know, bus Chad that they still have Don Drey Tillman who's, you know, we'll talk about that in a second.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_04]: They still have Jonah Ellis.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: They still have Hugh Robinson.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_04]: So they gave themselves some leverage.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_04]: And also, if you think about it, the Brock was got through two starting edge restrooms a locked up Cooper and Benito for the price of one micaparsons.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_05]: It's like Scott says it's a two-year extension, basically, then they'll redo it.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_05]: or move on depending on how things shake out over the next couple of years, but super stoked for Nick Benito and Zach you brought him up on Dre Tillman.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_05]: Not the greatest developments on the practice reports this week, Zach, you wrote about it yesterday how.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_05]: J. Greenlaw was a DNP, meaning he did not participate that kind of put all eyes, not that they weren't already on Thursday's practice report, but it made us kind of anticipate it with a little bit more kind of urgency and sure enough Greenlaw once again.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_05]: was not did not participate in in practice today.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_05]: And then on top of that, Zach, Don Dra.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_05]: Tillman, the second-year rush linebacker, was limited with a hamstring Malcolm Roach, the defensive tackle, also limited with a calf.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_05]: So it's looking like the injury bug is jumping up and nipping the Broncos defense in practice this week.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and it was my clips who reported that Tilman's undergoing testing on then hamstring and we all know how tricky hamstring injuries could be.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: They can linger even if it's not something severe.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_04]: So hopefully he's okay, but this is also why Chad, we're talking up the Broncos depth on the edges.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_04]: If one guy goes down, they have the next man up and that would be Joan Ellis.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_05]: Indeed, and Q Robinson.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_05]: Look, he was going to dress anyway because he's a forecore special teams guy.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_05]: So with how good he looked in the preseason if the Broncos, if yes, if Toman can't go for a gamer to or God forbid anything worse,
- 10:52[SPEAKER_05]: I think the Broncos will be okay at least in the short term.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, before we go back and continue our conversations with you in the chat, lots more to talk about from today.

- 12:45[SPEAKER_05]: We got Taylor Christians in jumping in on super chat, one of our great members saying, glad Nick Benito got paid.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_05]: I am very concerned for Greenlaw.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_05]: Well, guys, you got to remember this is in the case of Tilman and Roach.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_05]: Something's happened to him in practice.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_05]: So they were limited today.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_05]: In the case of Greenlaw,
- 13:05[SPEAKER_05]: You should be concerned if you had your heart set on him playing this week in the season opener.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_05]: But it is, in fact, the same quad that they have taken an abundance of caution type of approach.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_05]: Same quad that he tweaked in the, what was it?
- 13:21[SPEAKER_05]: First or second padded practice of training camp.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_05]: And Sean Peyton talked about earlier this week.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_05]: I'll see if I can find it.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_05]: that it's more about when it comes to green law, the caution, and the way they're kind of slow rollin' this, it's more about the long view.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_05]: He says quote,
- 13:38[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he didn't play in the preseason, but he's gotten a lot of work where being smart, we're being conservative relative to the approach because it's a long season.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_05]: So most importantly, having him not only healthy early on, but for the long home is the goal closed quote.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_05]: So Zach, considering the relative, I don't want, I still think as great as last year was for us to start kind of dismissing opponents as, you know, you can afford to rest him.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_05]: be careful with that kind of line of thinking if you're the Denver Broncos, but I assume they are thinking a little bit that way.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_05]: Like, well, Ricky quarterback coming in, we're not that afraid of what the Titans are doing.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_05]: So same thing with the Colts, Daniel Jones doesn't terrifying anybody let alone this defense.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_05]: So one shock me, Zach, if you don't actually see Greenlaw tell the third game.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_05]: Now I'm not predicting that.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just saying, keep your expectations a little
- 14:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's one thing if you have to rest him by choice versus resting him by circumstance, Chad, because if he was healthy and they wanted to put him on a pitch count, that's one thing.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_04]: But he's not even healthy enough to fully practice yet.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to lie.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_04]: I'm getting a little concerned.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_04]: This is a guy coming off a torn Achilles and then he injured his quad and then he injured his quad again.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_04]: The Broncos are paying him a lot of money to be the answer, the long standing answer at inside linebacker, finally, and it seems like this position is absolutely
- 15:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we'll see Sean Peyton made it clear yesterday.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_05]: He's not going to talk anymore about the injuries.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_05]: He kind of did a little bit on Monday, but then he kind of snapped out of it yesterday.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_05]: Today, he's not talking about injuries.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_05]: He'll basically say what he has obligated to say by the letter of NFL Law and no more.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_05]: Ron bringing up some around, hit it, Scott, we'll grab Ron next.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: At this point forward, and I appreciate the question, at this point forward, I'm not going to talk one thing about player injuries.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: We'll report what we're required to report, but you'll never hear me talk about how I feel it's going or any of that, and then really there's no advantage for me to discuss it.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_05]: And that's the bottom line, guys.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_05]: If there is no advantage, then by discussing it, you're probably putting yourself at a competitive disadvantage, which is why Zack mums the word.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you'll get, well, the information on the practice reports each day, you'll get the final injury report on game day or on Friday.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_05]: And in some cases, like in the case of green law, for example, Zack, you might get a doubtful or questionable tomorrow on the final practice report.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_05]: and then you'll get an update game day type thing, but you're not going to hear champagne talking about it.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_04]: Now, I caught him out saying to another super.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much, Javante for the first touch down to the season.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_04]: So that's good for.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_05]: Dude, this bug I've got, it's got me forgetting that it's freaking Thursday night week one.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_05]: I got to get this thing going.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you for that cotton mouth for the update and for the super chat big dog.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_05]: Kind of interesting rock, some around the NFL news relative to a couple of older former Broncos, Buffalo Bill signed kicker Matt Prater to their practice squad and Activated Sam Franklin, the temporary Bronco this summer to their 53 man roster.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know about you Zack and maybe this predates your time, but I'm still a Matt Prater fan and like Matt Prater was so clutch especially that Tim Tbo year and even the first the first year of the Peyton Manning I'm trying to remember with 2013 I think is where it started going sideways for him as the Broncos kicker, but I love Matt Prater.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, I never disliked.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_04]: I like that, yeah, he has such a strong leg.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_04]: I followed his career a little bit in Arizona recent times.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't root for the bills to do well, but I definitely root for Prater to do well.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_05]: Lady D, jumping in again on Super Chat.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you, man.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_05]: Love you.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_05]: She says, I'm hoping we get off to a great start.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_05]: This first game, we need to start and maintain strong throughout this season.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_05]: I'm excited and I have a lot of hope for this season.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_05]: Hashtag next for six.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_05]: I do too.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_05]: And I think your excitement is absolutely justified.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_05]: There's a lot of...
- 17:54[SPEAKER_05]: Some would argue like Eric, for example, he's writing about it today.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_05]: He might call it hype about this Broncos squad.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Zac, you had Chris Sins of NBC saying that this is the year telling K Adams.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_05]: This is the year the Broncos dethroned the chiefs.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of optimism, some might call it hype.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_05]: I call it optimism, and that's for a reason.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you won 10 games and snapped your playoff drought with a rookie quarterback.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_05]: And all you've done, at least from the outside looking in, since then, has gotten better.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, thank you so much, Deanna, and we always say a win as a win is a win and that's true, but they need to establish some momentum by beating up on an inferior team, and that's what the Titans are.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_04]: So like you said here, we're hoping for a very strong start on Sunday.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you again, Lady D, much love and respect and keep that excitement going.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_05]: Keep it kindled.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's absolutely crucial.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, here's the other thing.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_05]: Like, yes, it's the Tennessee Titans.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_05]: When we talk about resting, I mean, if if he's good enough to go, this could just be the Broncos being cautious and saying, we want him to play Sunday.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_05]: So we're not trying to tempt fate by having to go hard Wednesday was a pattern practice.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_05]: We're not having go hard or even participate because we want him to play Sunday.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_05]: It could be that.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_05]: But if the Broncos were thinking to themselves, oh, it's just the Titans, I don't think that's smart because shot Peyton himself, Zach, has talked about this time.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_05]: We got to get off to a fast start.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he hasn't won the first game since he's been the Broncos head coach.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_05]: And he talked about what the keys to getting off to a fast start actually are.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_05]: Let's hear it.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_05]: Coach, what's it?
- 19:35[SPEAKER_05]: What's the key to a fast start to get this season going on, especially to win the first game?
- 19:41[SPEAKER_05]: Definition there you go when the first game's act and I mean last I looked granted I've been not feeling so hot the last couple days, but the Broncos still had the widest as far as the favorites eight and a half points highest week one margin in the NFL.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know that they're playing games with Drake Green Lauchad because this has been a recurring theme throughout training camp.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_04]: Sean Payton said next week, next week, next week, next week, you'll see him more.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_04]: You'll see him more.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_04]: He's been teasing him and he still can't practice fully the week of the regular season opener.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_04]: So I think this is legitimate.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_04]: And again, that's why it's a little bit of cost for for concern.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't understand why he's saying a competitive disadvantage.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_04]: You know Green Lauchas starter and you know if he doesn't play who his fill in would be that'd be sternat and they had film on him.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_04]: being kind of an a-hole to the media just for the sake of it, I think.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_05]: He does, especially once the stakes kind of rise a little bit.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_05]: That's, that's, that's it's not the nicest at the podium, but Konga, a great member of the community.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you for being a member, wants to know.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_05]: Will Greenlaw play more or less?
- 20:48[SPEAKER_05]: This is like an underdog game here.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_05]: More or less than seven games this season.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_05]: What say use that?
- 20:56[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, he better play more for the money in the contract that he got, but the injury concerns are there.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to be optimistic.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_04]: Optimistic still.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_04]: I'll say he plays over seven games.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_05]: Please send in the league, that since 19, all right.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_05]: So 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6 NFL seasons.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_05]: This is technically year seven for him.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_05]: In those six seasons, he's played over seven games four times.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_05]: twice he has not and in both instances he only played in or started anyway too.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm taking the over on seven.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_05]: I'll I'll I'll I'm I'm going to join you on that.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_05]: So there you have a conga.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_05]: I think that's why they're they're taking it easy right now and they're not rushing them out there.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_05]: He's obviously not quite there.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_05]: I think and so they're they're taking that abundance of caution
- 21:52[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, week four alone, that bangles game is going to be fire.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_05]: You want Drake Greenland out there.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_05]: George, guys, DC is trying to make a trade to help out our linebacker core.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_05]: Hit the thumbs up.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you, brother.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_05]: A trade zack.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_05]: Do you see that on the horizon to help this linebacker situation?
- 22:09[SPEAKER_05]: Do you think it needs help?
- 22:12[SPEAKER_04]: I feel better, I think, with an experience body behind Singleton and Greenlaw, a more accomplished one anyway, but they didn't make a trade last season when they have those inside linebacker injuries, and I think if Greenlaw is going to be out in extended period, hopefully not, they'll go next man up with Strenot or somebody else.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_05]: Phil, jumping in.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_05]: Two song filled that is much love and respect to one of our great Facebook and YouTube members, by the way, great to see you, Phil, thank you for the support Big Dog, says good evening, Chad Zach and Deacon Scott, are there any players you would sit for this game and who do you want to be a breakout player?
- 22:46[SPEAKER_05]: Buckham, image is for life, for office for life.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think you'd sit someone in this game just to sit them, and these are the games, man.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_05]: These are the ones that count.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_05]: And you're just really tempting fate by even getting into that mindset of, oh, we can afford to rest this guy.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, this isn't NFL team.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_05]: There's a reason why Zach, it's called any given Sunday, you know, the other side gets paid to yes as I kind of Josh and joked earlier.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_05]: There's a reason Tennessee qualified for the first overall pick in this past draft, but I'm not taking any chances.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't approach this particular game's act.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_05]: if I'm there making any of the decisions any different than I would if this was sudden death my best guys need to be out there and if green lot if they're not 100% are good enough to go then they don't go but I'm not just resting for the sake of resting and my answer for the breakout player I want that to be Marvin Mims Jr.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_05]: I want to see him become a thing in the NFL beyond just that electric returner that he already is.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, I would want Drake Greenlaw to play if this was a playoff game and I don't want him to re aggravate the injury even worse.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_04]: So you have to kind of weigh, sitting him.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_04]: That's the only player I agree with Chad that I would consider sitting for this one purposely.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_04]: My breakout player is easy as RJ Harvey Chad.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see him establish some latitude in the backfield and take hold of that job from JK Dobbins.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_05]: Johnny, too, but saying thank you for the gift itself to the membership from Lady D.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_05]: Diana.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_05]: Um, on the subject, by the way, RJ Harvey.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_05]: So, John A. Baron, the, the, the media guy, guy still says, odd days, Zach.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, skits a frantic on this issue.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know what to make of it.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, nevertheless, Baron changed from 12 to 23, leaving open now 12.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_05]: I thought, hey, maybe, uh, Sam Ellinger.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_05]: No, no, RJ Harvey has switched apparently
- 24:50[SPEAKER_05]: What do you make of it?
- 24:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, it's like kind of the jersey, as long as he plays well in the Brock is when I really don't care.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's better than 37, but not better than a number, like four would have looked out of them for running back or something like that.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_05]: I like 37.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_05]: I thought it fit him, you know, like, I don't know.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_05]: It didn't quite look like your back type number to me.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, like, like, okay, so like, Audricest and my last song.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_05]: Before he got the 23.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_05]: I feel you, but 12.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_05]: I got to wait till I see it on, you know, like it's one thing to in a game and fully decked out.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_05]: And you know, we only got a couple days before we do get to see that.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_05]: So, uh, but Chad, when's the one player do you think of when you hear the number 12?
- 25:35[SPEAKER_05]: Bronco or just player.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_05]: Broncos.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_05]: Packs and Lynch.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_05]: Unfortunately.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_05]: That's my thing.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_04]: I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't imagine it now.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, well, it's like, hey, dude, you're a former quarterback.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_05]: You know, you got to understand some of the judo associated with that number as a quarterback number, specifically in Denver, but, you know, hey, we won't, we won't read too much into it.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_05]: Makala, thank you, Makala.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_05]: Duchess, jumping in on super chat, Mount Rushmore here.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_05]: She is.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you for the super, my friend, and sorry that my voice is failing me even as I speak it.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_05]: She says frustrated with green law.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_05]: Did he take us from for a ride, a lot, uh, Joanne James?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_05]: I hope not.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think so.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_05]: I really don't.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think so.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_05]: Not the way the Broncos talk about him.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_05]: But I don't blame you for being frustrated.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_05]: Those of you like Zach mentioned earlier, he's like, I'm full on kind of worried about this.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_05]: Like, you know, what the heck is going on?
- 26:37[SPEAKER_05]: And Zach, the quad, one was that.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_05]: So that would have been first two or three days of August.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_05]: that that second quad, first one was during the, literally, the off season before the Broncos even started working out.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_05]: Second one was a week into training camp was either the first or the second padded practice off the top of my head.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_05]: So we're now Zach, a full on, you know, in terms of real time, he's, by the time you get to Sunday, Zach, he's five weeks out from that.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, they dressed him in the preseason games and then, you know, to go do the pre-game
- 27:15[SPEAKER_05]: You know, put on street clothes and hang out on the sideline.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe they're just kind of slow rolling us.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe Sean Payton's playing a little bit of cat and mouse with the Titans and you're going to see green light out there.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_05]: Wreck and shop, but I would say do the best you can right now, Michaela easier said than done.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_05]: I know, but do the best you can to suspend Deforestation, tell at least Sunday.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_05]: Well, let's see Sunday because this could be some cat and mouse stuff.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I don't hear any woopy cushions, so he couldn't beat you on James and Dray Greenlaw repeated it well.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think a more apt comparison chat is Randy Gregory, and I hope it doesn't come to that.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_04]: But the same position, or you know, in a linebacker position, a highly paid guy, you had a lot of hope for him, and he didn't really return on investment, do that well in that regard.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see, like Chad said, how it plays out, Michaela, I do think though, Chad, no pun intended, Sean Payton was gassing us up throughout the last couple months.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_04]: I think after Greenlaw suffered that second quad, he knew it'd be a stretch, you got him ready for week one.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_04]: And he was just, you know, playing it up until then.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_05]: My question there is why then dress him and for those preseason games and let him do all the raw raw and the pre-game workout.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_05]: Why?
- 28:32[SPEAKER_05]: Like if you're that worried about it, why would you even bother with that?
- 28:35[SPEAKER_05]: You think that?
- 28:36[SPEAKER_05]: because you gave him $40 million dollars.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, give us a little something and exchange.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_05]: Fire up our guys for us, okay.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see, I'm not, I'm trying not to read too much into it till game day.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_05]: Game day, we'll, we'll know for sure.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_05]: We could even know tomorrow.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, for all we know it's legit and Sean Payton's final injury report tomorrow is going to say,
- 29:02[SPEAKER_05]: out.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_05]: Um, but I hope not.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_05]: I really do hope not, McKinnon.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_05]: Or he gets an limited session chat and gives him a chance to play Sunday.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_05]: Could could happen.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_05]: Rock.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_05]: This is something I've said when I was writing up in the actual article.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_05]: You guys have heard me say this on this podcast many times when I was writing up the the Baron thing earlier this week.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_05]: Don't buy the Bronco jerseys for the rookie class, especially
- 29:32[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if they were making Harvey and Baron Jersey's available on the team store, but I'm sure there were a lot of fans going out and making number 12, Baron Jersey's, with the jerseys you can pick and like you can make at your own, choose whatever number, choose whatever name.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_05]: This is a good reminder, though.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you, Rob.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_04]: But it's sometimes not enough.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, how many people bought Javansay Williams jerseys and Williams is looking good tonight, but that didn't work out too well.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's why I say if you want to get a Brocos jersey, get a legacy player, L.A., Shannon Sharpe, Atwater, et cetera.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_05]: What about Bonyx, Zach?
- 30:13[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we all think he's gonna be the quarterback, but if they move on for him in four or five years, then that jerseys, you know, a washcloth.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I won't go that far myself, but I will say, just make sure whatever that player is as wrong says.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_05]: Make sure that it's their assigned number permanently, which for the most part, 99 times out of 100, it is, you get to September, whatever they're wearing that first game, that's probably what it's gonna be.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_05]: There are every once in a blue moon weird exceptions.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_05]: In fact, I think it might have been the case for
- 30:49[SPEAKER_05]: I don't recall exactly when 23, who's rocking 23 before him?
- 30:54[SPEAKER_05]: It doesn't matter, we're always in time on that.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_04]: That's a video.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_05]: Who?
- 30:58[SPEAKER_04]: Was it Ozya Moodya?
- 30:59[SPEAKER_04]: It's first name that came to mind.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he had that number, but I think he was gone before last year.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_04]: Or he was running back, yeah.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_05]: Let's see what Joe has to say on Facebook.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_05]: What do you think, what's running back, do you think will get the most workload against the Titans?
- 31:15[SPEAKER_05]: So kind of interesting, again, unofficial, the week one depth chart showed that Tyler Badey had leapfrogged.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_05]: Jolil McLaughlin at as the number three back and JK Dobbins is listed as the one RJ is the two who gets the bigger workload this week.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_04]: I think Dobbins gets the first carry.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's the nominal starter.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_04]: And I think he ends up with more touches.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_04]: And that's how it's going to be.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_04]: You trust the veteran, you work the rookie in, and kind of make him earn his way.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_04]: Make him earn that RB1 title.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_04]: So if I had an answer right now, I think it's going to be down the middle and he'll get all the running backs involved, but Dobbins will have a few more carries than Argya Harvey.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_05]: David Valenzuela, jumping in with a second super chat.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you, brother.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_05]: Appreciate you, helping us a lot, dude.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_05]: So, do you think with Denver's contract structures, they're preparing for multiple Super Bowl runs before Boninx get paid, gets paid, Ashda go Broncos.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_05]: Well, you know, you've got to operate, if you're going to succeed in any endeavor, you've got to assume you're going to.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_05]: You've got to operate as if you've got to will it into existence.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_05]: And yes, the Broncos, they have a window of time until they're on the hook to pay bone nicks.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_05]: And they feel like as Sean Peyton has made it clear this year that they're officially in a Super Bowl window.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_05]: So yes, absolutely.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_05]: They're making hay while that son's a shine in Zek.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, when you have Sean Payton talking about this team is capable of winning the Super Bowl when you have Sean Payton predicting that Bow nicks will be a top five quarterback and the next couple seasons.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_04]: They believe they're in a championship window.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely David Javante is looking pretty solid so far.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_05]: I got to say Zach.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_05]: Looking pretty solid.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see the Eagles have it have a tied by the way.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_05]: All right.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_05]: We've got
- 33:08[SPEAKER_05]: The Dutch is jumping in again, they're second super chat of the night just for love for my family ready to drink the orange cool laid yeah I mean there's always going to be even amidst all the optimism of this particular team 20 25 Broncos even that
- 33:28[SPEAKER_05]: well spring.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, there's more to be stoked and excited about than there isn't, but there's always going to be that one or two less than ideal things and right now Zack, that's the injury thing.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_05]: But just guys, it could be worse.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, the Broncos, I think have done a good job through the summer of managing their veteran guys, keeping guys ready and available.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, if Greenlaw ends up not
- 33:52[SPEAKER_05]: be in a go he'll be the only starter that is not a go and that's something man like you see some of these teams act losing starters throughout the summer and whatnot like the Broncos do a good job with that since Sean Payton came.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and the Kayla, thank you so much, and I want to act with something that we've been saying, since Bonax turned this ship around with Sean Payton, is that we're so happy for you.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_04]: We love this for you.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_04]: You read it and drink the cool aid you're fully buying in, you're optimistic, and you're all about your Broncos, because there was a time before Bonax, you certainly weren't, so thank you so much again.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_05]: One thing you've always been is dedicated to this community and this family of the M.A.H.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_05]: FAM.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_05]: So, love you.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_05]: Appreciate you.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much, Michaela.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_05]: All right, guys.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_05]: So, where are we at?
- 34:42[SPEAKER_05]: We're 35 minutes.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_05]: We're doing pretty good time wise.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_05]: Zack, let's get to some nitty gritty.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_05]: Now, I don't want to take away.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_05]: from Luke Patterson's debut keys to victory article that dropped this morning, first one of the 2025 season.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_05]: That's in a written form and it comes from Luke.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_05]: I highly recommend going and reading that guys when you get a second, it's a great read.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_05]: But Zach, going against a team like the Titans, let's get into some keys.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_05]: First things first, Zach, if the Broncos are going to emerge victorious,
- 35:16[SPEAKER_05]: for you, what is key to victory number one?
- 35:20[SPEAKER_04]: First thing that jumps off the pages, don't play down to the level of your competition.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not saying treat this like the Super Bowl or treat them like Kansas City or Baltimore, but don't assume you're gonna walk up there and the games will be over by halftime.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_04]: Don't assume you're gonna win just because they have the number on overall pick and they have a rookie quarterback.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_04]: Now, the Broncos have to take this game seriously and they have to execute at the highest level.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_04]: That's number one for me.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_05]: Alright, this is good.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just realizing that guys, again, my bad for not feeling well that I'm just now thinking of this, but so it goes, we're going to get into some head to head.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_05]: We'll get into that.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_05]: I think that's a fair key, is that to victory?
- 36:04[SPEAKER_05]: I think this is the, well, let's, before we spend too much time on keys, let's actually look at this, okay?
- 36:13[SPEAKER_05]: Now, one thing to keep in mind is these numbers are, it's all reset, right?
- 36:18[SPEAKER_05]: This is last season, the numbers that you see.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_05]: Some of it you can read into.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_05]: Some of it is applicable.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of it's not.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_05]: And especially for the Titan's Zach on offense, which we'll get into.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_05]: But as you can see, guys, the Broncos finished in the top 10 last year in turnover margin.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_05]: They took it away six more times than they gave it away plus six whereas the titans were minus 16 However, they did the titans do a better job of possessing the ball than the Broncos They finished ninth in time of possession Broncos did not they were 20th and that was kind of a result Zach of the
- 36:56[SPEAKER_05]: imbalance of the past and the rush because the Broncos could not run the ball.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_05]: But look at this offensively, can you can you can you understand why they wanted the number one quarterback in this class.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, bottom third red signifies bottom third, everything, but third down percentage Zach and rushing.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_05]: So again, it's old information.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_05]: This is the summation of last year's numbers, but.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_05]: this being what it is.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_05]: What is there anything you take away from it relative to fresh start different quarterback week one.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_04]: I mean there's a number there I think Hamward is going to be a good pro eventually but there's no guarantee he's going to be that so it could be they get worse at least initially Chad from these numbers they still could go below 26 below 27 but it's
- 37:49[SPEAKER_04]: When you look at the roster, some of their incumbents remain like the running back, like the tight end, like the receiver.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_04]: They just change quarterback pretty much.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_04]: They have cushion barrient centers still too.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think they're going to be a whole lot better than what you're seeing right here.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_05]: Pollard led last season in rushing as for the team 1000, he's a 1000 yard rusher.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_05]: Calvin Ridley led in receiving yards thousand just over kind of like Sutton just barely getting over a thousand there.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_05]: But anyway, again, these numbers aren't going to start really actually reflecting anything solid tell where about a month into the season.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_05]: Some would argue and tell you about eight weeks into the season.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if I'd go that far, but there's your head to head look at the offense defensively.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_05]: The Titans in Yardage, this is no push over defense, guys.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_05]: They finished second in Yard's per game.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_05]: They were eighth in Yard's per play.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_05]: And then passing, they were better than Denver last year.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_05]: Wrap your brain around that, okay.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_05]: But they couldn't sack the quarterback amidst all this other good stuff.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_05]: They weren't good at pressure.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_05]: Meanwhile, Bona exec was the sack to furt third few as times in the NFL.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_05]: They couldn't get teams off the field on third down, and they could not stop red zone positions from resulting in touchdowns.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_05]: Whereas, you know, the, uh, the Broncos defense, it's all green with the exception of the passing,
- 39:21[SPEAKER_05]: The three or four games, whatever it was, Riley Moss missed at the end.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_05]: That's why they're not, that's not also a top 10 statistic for what it's worth.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_05]: Kind of got inflated there down the stretch.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_05]: And because of all that, the Broncos are lucky they even survived to make the playoffs.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_05]: Thankfully, that cheese scheme they chose to rest the starters, and that's all we needed.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_05]: The nice little piece of grace there.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_05]: But Zach, any takeaways here, defensively, on the head to head.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, the Titans can't stop people from scoring either, Chad.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_04]: They're allowing almost four touchdowns a game, 27.1 points per game.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_04]: And again, they really didn't get that much better on defense.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_04]: So it's going to be an NFL matchup.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_04]: You can't assume anything.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_04]: You can't play down.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_04]: Yada Yada, the Chad.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_04]: This is a game where the Broncos should steam roll the opponent.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_05]: I agree that defense is better than you think, though.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_05]: So not you, Zach, but like then you might expect for a team that you know, finished what they did last year in terms of the standings and I mean, three and 14, right?
- 40:20[SPEAKER_05]: Like, but that defense is better.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_05]: It wouldn't surprise me, Zach.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_05]: This only fully adds to what you and I both said earlier this week.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_05]: If it takes a couple, two, three possessions for Bonix and company to kind of get their game legs beneath them.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_05]: highly advised if you guys have not read it.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_05]: Go check it out.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think I need to cover anything else from that head-to-head because special teams and all that, but Carl.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_05]: real fast had a very interesting article, you know, we talk about the NFL top 100, how it's a little bit more meaningful in terms of the offseason list because it's voted on by the players.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_05]: Well, the athletic did something similar with regard to the play callers and here it is.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_05]: So Ted win of the athletic pulled six NFL defensive coordinators and coaches.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_05]: from around the league to create at a list of the top offensive play colors of 2025, Sean Payton checked in at number eight.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_05]: And this is what one offensive coach, there's a reason to bring this up now and I'll get to it, but let me just read it.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_05]: This is what one defensive coach had to say about Sean Payton, the play color quote.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_05]: The first 15 plays is a M-F-R with them.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_05]: It's big personnel, little personnel, every play.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_05]: And they try to just create chaos with the subs and play games with all that stuff.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_05]: And then they mix modes with the no-huddle and all that.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_05]: They put guys in the right spots, fifth the pieces together, where
- 41:55[SPEAKER_05]: Like everyone has their role with that, and then it's a diverse offense where you've got to defend two back, one back, four by one, RPOs, QB driven, why, why sets, and it's all the stuff you've got prepared for, and that makes you just say screw it, we just got to be simple.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_05]: There's so much noise where you can't really pin them down, close quote, this guy Zach is saying, Sean Payton's 15 plays are an MF for to deal with.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_05]: Knowin' what we know now about this Titan's defense.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_05]: Do you think that somewhere in the first 15, the Broncos hit Patert?
- 42:32[SPEAKER_04]: I do.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I think in debating this game, it's a little bit of paralysis by analysis.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_04]: The Broncos were a playoff team.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_04]: The Titans have the number on overall pick.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_04]: The Broncos got noticeably better and the Titans for my view really haven't.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_04]: In those first 15 plays or however many Sean Peyton is going to script on Sunday, Chad, one of those, if not more, are going to be shots to the end zone.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_04]: And I do think,
- 43:00[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_05]: Lady D jumping in again, love you.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_05]: She says, I agree, Zach, the Broncos need to go in strong this first few games, but they need to win soundly this first game.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_05]: Glad the first game is at home.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_05]: Definitely to our advantage.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_05]: I have faith in our team.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_05]: They know we need to start strong a strong win is needed.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_05]: No doubt.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_05]: Sean Peyton is yet to win a season opener Zach as Broncos head coach.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you and I both are picking the tightens.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_05]: Look, the the mile high round table will drop tomorrow.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_05]: All right, wherever one of M. H. H goes around, makes the predictions and picks.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe maybe maybe look for the article tomorrow for our specific score, but Zach, I don't think we're going to be fooling anybody by holding out on our picks.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_05]: We both see the Broncos win in this one.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I'll give you, I'll give it away right now.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_04]: Everything I've been saying on the pot, I put in written form, the Broncos are more talented.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_04]: They have a better quarterback.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_04]: They have better coaching, the red home, facing a rookie quarterback.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, every single advantage the Broncos have.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_04]: And if this was played on paper, and I know it's not, it would be over by the third quarter.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I, uh,
- 44:16[SPEAKER_05]: Eric Flynn, super sticker.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_05]: It's been a minute since I saw I've seen, let me mind my grammar here, a super sticker.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you, brother.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_05]: Great to see you.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_05]: Most of the time, Eric Flynn is a big supporter on Facebook, but every once in a while we get to see him throwing down on YouTube and however you do it, Eric, it's much appreciate a big dog and we don't take it for granted.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_05]: So thank you for that support.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, thank you, Eric.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_05]: All right, guys, we've all been waiting for football to get back for a long, long time.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I don't know what this means.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_05]: Mike's talking about 10,75 extra points now for Lady D. And then, whoops.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_05]: And then he says, $500 super chat would skyrocket the extra points.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_05]: What are the extra points?
- 45:04[SPEAKER_05]: What are we talking about?
- 45:05[SPEAKER_05]: Because I've seen that,
- 45:07[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I listen to podcasts all day long while I'm working, editing, you know, an Eric article or writing one myself or whatever, uh, something to do with the point system.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_05]: I have, I need to do some research on, I don't even know what it means.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_05]: I guess as a bigger channel, I should probably know what we're talking about.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_05]: Here's that.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_04]: I'll join you.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know either.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_05]: So, all right, guys, we're almost out of here, but we could
- 45:36[SPEAKER_05]: If we didn't grab this very generous super chat from our dear friend, the Duchess, Michaela Parker jumping in again on super chat, the ladies of MHH showing out, showing that muscle.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_05]: I love it.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_05]: Michaela.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_05]: She says, Pookey, Javante Williams right now looking good could it be our old lines fault that
- 46:05[SPEAKER_05]: grievous knee injury in, what was that, early 2022?
- 46:08[SPEAKER_04]: Well, Jalen Carter got ejected, so that's a big loss for Philly.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to take anything away from, from Javonte.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_04]: He looks like he's running a little bit like pre-injury form, but let's see once the Eagles adjust or other teams adjust, how well he looks, Chad.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_04]: I still think that Jaden Blue, his backup, is going to see some significant time this season.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_05]: Look, I'm happy for him.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_05]: I want to see him succeed, guys, for what it's worth.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_05]: So far today, he's got eight carries tonight.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_05]: I should say eight carries for 34 yards, two touchdowns.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_05]: So he's averaging 4.3, which is solid for him.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_05]: That's better by about half a yard than what it's been season-wise, the previous two years.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_05]: But that one, that's the way Zach, his first touchdown was a one-yard run.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_05]: His second one, pardon me, was from four yards out a little bit more impressive.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_05]: I'm excited for Javante.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think it was an offensive line issue.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_05]: I really don't.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, because I have eyes to see how many times, I'm not trying to, I'm not being condescending.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just saying, Michaela, that I saw him run into a dude's back.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_05]: How many times?
- 47:15[SPEAKER_05]: Like, countless times to where it's like, dude, what is going on here?
- 47:22[SPEAKER_05]: Why is he constantly running into Quinn Miners or constantly running into Frick and Mike McGlenshee?
- 47:29[SPEAKER_05]: Sometimes those act just a changes scenery is what is needed to kind of reflip a switch and it's also worth remembering that I'm going to serve this back to you what George Payton said I think it was at the combine is either the combine of the owners meetings When he said because it was I think it was a combine anyway
- 47:47[SPEAKER_05]: On the topic of Juventail Williams, do you want to back or you're interested?
- 47:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we're interested in having a back.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_05]: We believe that he's still to this day isn't hasn't returned to that same level that he was before the injury and we still think he can get there like he's growing.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_05]: He's getting better and better as time marches on and it's possible George Peyton was right about that because he's been right about a lot of football stuff that.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_04]: But what's the one thing they liked about Javante?
- 48:11[SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't his running, it wasn't his receiving, it was his past blocking.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_04]: And you can find another running back that can do that.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_04]: The Broncos were right for moving on, and I'm with you.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_04]: I hope Pookie does do well.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a Kayla, thank you so much.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't think it's the old line's fault chat.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_04]: I think the collection of talent last season in the backfield was just that bad.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_04]: Look how poorly Audric Estimate did in the preseason chat, averaging under three yards of carry in two games.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's just they needed some infusion of talent.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_04]: And fortunately, they got that with Dobbins and Harvey.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_05]: What Javante is, though, for this Cowboys team, is he's also a veteran and a leader and he's really smart, I mean, super smart dude, like very bookish, his football IQs off the charts.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_05]: He's been around the block, he was basically a starter for four years and then remind us the injured season, but even his first year as a rookie,
- 49:03[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he basically got he was the number two behind Melvin Gordon, but as the number two, he almost had the exact same amount of rushing or it's just barely under a thousand.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_05]: So he's seen a lot of battle and the cowboys needed a guy that could kind of stabilize that situation and help Dak Prescott, literally not get killed and I think they'll be happy with Javante.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not eating my heart out like this is not
- 49:27[SPEAKER_05]: I don't feel like right now.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_05]: Oh my gosh Broncos are missing out just because you got a couple of inside the five touchdown runs.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean my hype and excitement for RJ Harvey trounses any sort of buyers or more surrogret.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_04]: I would have over letting Chivante Williams walk.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_05]: All right, guys, thank you again, Michaela.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_05]: Love you so much.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_05]: I guess we got to keep an eye on this extra points thing.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_05]: We'll be educated on that by the time we get to the gut reaction, but we got a few messages for you that we're gonna take one last look at the chat before we dip out, so don't go anywhere.

- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_03]: Tip it at the top, yeah.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, Michaela and Lady D. This is going to be a meeting to end all meetings when Lady D and Michaela finally, I mean, because they're friends, they talk, they chat, they live in different parts of this country, but they're going to get to hang out for the first time in October and it's going to be so fun.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to be there.

- 52:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Dan, I've said it before.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_04]: I'll say it again, and I'll say it until the meeting agree.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_04]: I cannot wait to see you out there and shake your hand and tell you, thank you face to face for all you've done in support of the podcast, the website, the brand.

- 52:38[SPEAKER_05]: Much love and respect, and yes, one of these solutes.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_05]: And anyway, yeah, I'll be okay.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_05]: I'm already on the upswing.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_05]: It's just like that lag, you know, like it takes the oxygen out of you somehow.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_05]: But anyway, love you guys.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_05]: A mile high salute and a special shout out to the great Super Chat Superstars and supporters and members helping us keep the lights on tonight.
