- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, this is WWE and ECW alumni, the Blue Meanie,
- 0:04Speaker 1: and you're listening to PCW.
- 0:07Speaker 2: The question is, are you ready? Let me talk to you.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I will give you a show like you have never,
- 0:20Speaker 2: ever seen before.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Why? Because I can.
- 0:24Speaker 2: What do you guys want to talk about?
- 0:31Speaker 3: I am the B-E-S-T. And the color red in a world.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Full of black and white. I am the eater of worlds.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Yeah. If you're some man, put the rock in me.
- 0:58Speaker 2: And now it's me.
- 0:59Speaker 1: The champ is here!
- 1:01Speaker 2: But to be the man, you gotta beat the man.
- 1:09Speaker 4: And I stand right here.
- 1:11Speaker 3: There you are.
- 1:13Speaker 2: The best there is, the best there was, and the.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Best there ever will be.
- 1:27Speaker 2: PCW! PCW!
- 1:31Speaker 4: PCW!
- 1:57Speaker 3: We're going to talk about it. I'm sure there will
- 2:00Speaker 3: be another match added, possibly this Friday.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 2:05Speaker 3: On average, it is five. But I found a way
- 2:09Speaker 3: to fill the rest of the time so it's not
- 2:13Speaker 3: a short episode. And we'll get to that and then some.
- 2:18Speaker 3: But let me bring in my co-host. Trey, welcome back
- 3:02Speaker 3: to the show.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yo, yo, what it do, PCW crew?
- 3:07Speaker 3: Glad to have you, as always. What are you eating
- 3:10Speaker 3: this episode?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Today is simple. It's just a chicken sandwich.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Just a chicken sandwich. Grilled, fried. Hmm.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It's fried.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I was going to say fried.
- 3:23Speaker 4: All right.
- 3:25Speaker 3: All right, let's bring out our other half. I need
- 4:01Speaker 3: you both.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Once in a while we can hop around on one leg,
- 4:06Speaker 5: but I need you both.
- 4:27Speaker 3: But we don't have Tyler. No. No Tyler, because Tyler moved.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Tyler relocated his self. He is no longer living in
- 4:39Speaker 3: the depths of the basement of the studio of PCW.
- 4:43Speaker 3: He moved out and got his own little studio he's
- 4:46Speaker 3: working on. So he will be back. But, yeah, guys,
- 4:51Speaker 3: I was looking at the card. We only got four matches.
- 4:55Speaker 3: You know, for.
- 4:57Speaker 3: For so much that goes on on Raw and SmackDown.
- 5:01Speaker 3: So many hours.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Calling one of them a match is kind of.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Generous.
- 5:10Speaker 4: That is true.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Is that the one? Is that the one? Before we
- 5:19Speaker 3: get into that, I want to bring up... I think
- 5:23Speaker 3: we all want to talk about it. So, Raw was
- 5:26Speaker 3: pre-taped this week, and with Raw being pre-taped, which means
- 5:31Speaker 3: Netflix gets to get its little greedy, edited, blurring out
- 5:35Speaker 3: shit hands on it. So, if you caught Raw this week,
- 5:41Speaker 3: within the first, what, five minutes, we see Royce Keys
- 5:46Speaker 3: and his gang, and by the way, when those two
- 5:51Speaker 3: guys debuted, since I haven't out of touch, I believe
- 5:57Speaker 3: in NXT, I was like, who's this? Who, who, who,
- 6:03Speaker 3: who's this? Um, and I feel like there were a
- 6:06Speaker 3: lot of other people in the crowd who also thought that, um,
- 6:09Speaker 3: cause considering the not so big of a pop that,
- 6:12Speaker 3: you know, they got, uh, do you, do you guys
- 6:16Speaker 3: know anything about these two that joined voice keys?
- 6:23Speaker 4: Nope.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I think they're call-ups from NXT, but I have not
- 6:30Speaker 2: looked into who they.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Are that much. And it's not a bad thing that
- 6:36Speaker 3: we don't know them. I was like, man, this guy's
- 6:39Speaker 3: been here for a minute and now he's got his
- 6:40Speaker 3: own stable. But yeah, so they attack the bloodline. So
- 6:47Speaker 3: right away, they're tying themselves. I mean, they had the
- 6:51Speaker 3: seeds planted. We saw For the past couple weeks. With
- 6:54Speaker 3: Royce Keys tying himself into the bloodline.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You know.
- 6:59Speaker 3: But yeah. Attacking Jimmy and Jay. Right in the parking lot.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Smashing car windows. And apparently. I don't know because I
- 7:09Speaker 3: couldn't see it. They were apparently bleeding. There was color.
- 7:14Speaker 3: And Netflix was the one. Who decided to blur it out.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Not you know. Triple H.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Who everybody was.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Pointing the finger at. I guess Triple H released a
- 7:27Speaker 3: version where it was on Blurred.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Yeah, he tweeted it out, I believe.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Released the Triple H cut. I saw a meme.
- 7:39Speaker 4: It wasn't even graphic or anything.
- 7:41Speaker 1: It wasn't like blood spurting.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Right.
- 7:46Speaker 4: I saw a meme today.
- 7:52Speaker 3: That showed some of the bloody moments in the Attitude Era,
- 7:56Speaker 3: but they were blurred out. And it's like, imagine if
- 7:58Speaker 3: Netflix had their hands on the Attitude Era. Like, holy crap.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I mean, right away, as soon as I saw it,
- 8:04Speaker 3: I was like, ugh, what is this? I was like,
- 8:07Speaker 3: come on. Like, how disappointing this was. So, I had
- 8:15Speaker 3: that to start off my Monday Night Raw, so that's
- 8:17Speaker 3: a great way to start it off. But, you know,
- 8:19Speaker 3: great way to end it. I don't know about you guys,
- 8:22Speaker 3: but I thoroughly enjoyed the Penta vs. Rey Fenix match.
- 8:26Speaker 3: We finally got in WWE. They found a way to
- 8:33Speaker 3: keep these guys separate for quite some time in the company.
- 8:36Speaker 3: And I was kind of happy about it because they
- 8:38Speaker 3: built themselves up. Even in the Rumble, they found a
- 8:42Speaker 3: way to keep them separated. They would have one of
- 8:45Speaker 3: them eliminated before the other one showed up.
- 8:47Speaker 4: So.
- 8:48Speaker 3: They avoided each other in, I think, King of the
- 8:50Speaker 3: Ring tournaments. Anything else that involved Brands Crossing leading up
- 8:56Speaker 3: to this. And I think, I don't know about you guys,
- 8:59Speaker 3: but when I saw the bracket laid out for this
- 9:03Speaker 3: AAA tournament, I was like, oh, that's for sure, Penta.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Yes, obviously.
- 9:11Speaker 4: But.
- 9:11Speaker 3: how he got there.
- 9:13Speaker 1: The thing is, it feels like, it feels like an
- 9:16Speaker 1: in case of emergency break glass kind of thing.
- 9:18Speaker 4: And I don't feel like there's an emergency.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 1: You know, like I kind of feel like I wish
- 9:24Speaker 1: there had been like more of a, a story, you know,
- 9:28Speaker 1: leading into them.
- 9:29Speaker 4: It was a fine match. Don't get me wrong.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Um, but I feel like, I feel like if you're
- 9:34Speaker 1: going to, you know, make such a, or you're going
- 9:36Speaker 1: to finally do the Lucha brother match, uh, I feel like.
- 9:40Speaker 4: It should have had more build-up than just because match.
- 9:43Speaker 2: You know?
- 9:45Speaker 1: But I think this is like the fifth or sixth
- 9:48Speaker 1: promotion they fought in now, I think.
- 9:50Speaker 4: I saw a thing. It was like they fought in AEW.
- 9:53Speaker 4: They fought in probably Ring of Honor. They fought in MLW.
- 9:58Speaker 4: They fought in WWE. Underground Now WWE.
- 10:02Speaker 1: This is like the fifth or sixth different promotion they
- 10:05Speaker 1: fought in, which is kind of a fun little stat.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Yeah. For real.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I'm okay with it the way it went down. I mean,
- 10:14Speaker 2: could it have been on a bigger platform or a
- 10:16Speaker 2: bigger stage like a PLE of some sort? Sure. But
- 10:20Speaker 2: for what it was and for where the both of
- 10:22Speaker 2: them are at in their career, at least within WWE,
- 10:26Speaker 2: you know, having this match being the finals of a
- 10:29Speaker 2: tournament for a world title shot against Roman Reigns, and
- 10:33Speaker 2: they at least made it the main event of Raw,
- 10:35Speaker 2: and didn't pull some bullshit like, oh, it's going to
- 10:37Speaker 2: kick off the second hour or something like that, you know.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I think that's, I think it was appropriate. And obviously
- 10:43Speaker 2: the match itself, it was top notch. Like, it's, it
- 10:49Speaker 2: could be a dark, I'm not saying it is match
- 10:51Speaker 2: of the year candidate, but it could be in a conversation.
- 10:53Speaker 2: When we talk about some of the best matches that
- 10:55Speaker 2: have taken place this year, I think this match could
- 10:58Speaker 2: easily come up in that conversation.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. This is like when you,
- 11:05Speaker 3: we're going to put aside and, you know, let's put
- 11:08Speaker 3: a pin in this one when it comes to giving
- 11:10Speaker 3: our slammy awards at the end of the year. For sure.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I want to come back to this, watch this match again.
- 11:21Speaker 3: What else is going on in the wrestling world? We
- 11:24Speaker 3: finally got Acme vs. Coyote, which John.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Cena is in.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Movie was filmed in, I believe, 2022. Finally released in 2026.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Bought by Ketchup Entertainment. I went and saw it. I
- 11:43Speaker 3: got early access to go see it. Pretty good. I
- 11:49Speaker 3: enjoy it. I like John Cena in it. You know,
- 11:51Speaker 3: he played a lawyer. You got to see John Cena
- 11:53Speaker 3: wear a cowboy hat.
- 11:54Speaker 4: You know?
- 11:54Speaker 3: It looked very JBL-ish. Kind of funny. But, yeah, I
- 12:01Speaker 3: enjoyed it. I don't know if we brought this up
- 12:05Speaker 3: last episode, but Dave Bautista being cast as Kratos in
- 12:10Speaker 3: the new God of War TV show. You know, What
- 12:16Speaker 3: I see everywhere Everywhere I go Every post I see
- 12:20Speaker 3: In the comments This guy needs to put on weight
- 12:23Speaker 3: This guy needs to start working out This guy needs
- 12:26Speaker 3: to hit the gym You know Because in our minds
- 12:31Speaker 3: This is what we envision This is who we had
- 12:33Speaker 3: in the video games This large man playing a character
- 12:38Speaker 3: You know It's a lot of work.
- 12:41Speaker 4: To be that big It is.
- 12:43Speaker 3: It is a lot of work.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Especially, I mean, and Dave's no spring chicken anymore.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I mean, he's well into.
- 12:49Speaker 4: His 50s at this point, I think, right?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
- 12:52Speaker 4: So, like, fuck, let him. I mean, Jesus Christ.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Like, let him look how he wants to fucking look,
- 12:58Speaker 4: you know?
- 12:59Speaker 3: Yeah. Have you guys, did you guys catch the AEW PLE,
- 13:07Speaker 3: the last ones they had?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I caught some of it. I didn't catch
- 13:14Speaker 2: all of it, but I caught some of it.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Yeah, the highlights of it. The biggest one, I guess,
- 13:21Speaker 3: is the New Day going over to AEW, which we
- 13:25Speaker 3: know we all predicted. It's great. I'm finding out now
- 13:35Speaker 3: that they were definitely offered 50% in WWE, 50% less
- 13:37Speaker 3: than their pay was. take it or leave it.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Mind you, this was shortly after they had just signed
- 13:48Speaker 2: new contracts, like months after signing new contracts.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 2: TKO or WWE came to them and asked them to
- 13:58Speaker 2: take a 50% pay cut.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Don't blame them one bit for walking.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Nope, not at all, dude. Not at all. They team
- 14:09Speaker 3: up with Swerve Strickland who also was a former WWE wrestler.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Seeing the three of them together, they're not called the
- 14:20Speaker 3: New Day anymore. What are they called now? The Next Level.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Genius.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I like it. What were some of the other matches
- 14:33Speaker 3: that we saw? I believe another former WWE wrestler won
- 14:36Speaker 3: a title. Is that right? I didn't get to pull
- 14:41Speaker 3: up I think we saw Jon Moxley still retain the championship.
- 14:49Speaker 4: I think Andrade won something, didn't he?
- 14:51Speaker 3: Andrade? Oh, yeah. I saw that Kenny Omega beat Will Ospreay.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega to become AEW world champion. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:08Speaker 4: It was a fucking phenomenal match.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 4: That whole presentation was great.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Unfortunately, the two things I wanted to see most in
- 15:21Speaker 2: that show are the matches that I did not catch,
- 15:23Speaker 2: and that was Willow Nightingale versus Mercedes Monet, which Mercedes
- 15:27Speaker 2: won to become AEW Women's Champion and the Osprey Omega match.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Those were the two best matches of the night.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I missed them, especially the Osprey Kenny Omega,
- 15:40Speaker 2: because that on paper... Yeah, it's amazing. Match of the
- 15:43Speaker 2: year candidate. So I'm going to go back and find
- 15:46Speaker 2: it online and watch it. Right. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 3: It looks like Britt Baker has returned to AEW. She's
- 15:53Speaker 3: been gone for a minute.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Two years.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, wow. That is a long time to be gone.
- 16:00Speaker 3: You know, definitely being gone that long makes you really question,
- 16:06Speaker 3: you know, if she was coming back or she was
- 16:08Speaker 3: looking to sign with WWE or You know, I don't
- 16:14Speaker 3: believe she's with Adam Cole anymore. I don't think they're
- 16:17Speaker 3: an item. So I always, you know, assume, and we
- 16:21Speaker 3: always assume in wrestling as marks that, you know, couples
- 16:24Speaker 3: go together everywhere, and that's not always the case. I
- 16:29Speaker 3: think it was El Idolo versus MJF. I think that's
- 16:34Speaker 3: the match that they had. Casino gauntlet match. For a
- 16:39Speaker 3: guaranteed world title shot.
- 16:40Speaker 4: It was a multi-person match.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, there's that. So, that's if you
- 16:48Speaker 3: want to check out what's going on on the AEW side.
- 16:53Speaker 3: But yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I'll say this. Go ahead. Right about now, this is
- 16:58Speaker 2: probably the most interested I've been in AEW in a while.
- 17:03Speaker 2: With the arrival of New Day and Well, when Will
- 17:09Speaker 2: O'Neill becoming champion, which is now has been yielded to
- 17:14Speaker 2: Mercedes Monet. I'm not saying I'm tuning in every week,
- 17:18Speaker 2: but this is probably about the closest I've gotten to
- 17:20Speaker 2: being like, especially compared to, you know, the very much
- 17:25Speaker 2: up and down that WWE is right now. It's about
- 17:28Speaker 2: as close as I've gotten to being like, let me
- 17:31Speaker 2: turn on that dynamite and see what they talking about. Okay.
- 17:35Speaker 6: They have ups and downs also they go through periods
- 17:39Speaker 6: where the product isn't fucking really good and then it's
- 17:42Speaker 6: not so good for a few months and I agree
- 17:45Speaker 6: with you they're on an upward.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Trajectory right right everything is definitely cyclical as we all
- 17:52Speaker 2: know in wrestling but you know when they have their
- 17:56Speaker 2: ups are they up enough to draw in new viewers
- 18:01Speaker 2: because that's what grows your company well yeah When you
- 18:05Speaker 2: are up, when you are hot, when you are cooking,
- 18:08Speaker 2: especially if your competition is a bit down, can you
- 18:13Speaker 2: be up enough to bring in those new viewers? That's
- 18:16Speaker 2: how WWE won the Monday Night War. WCW's products started
- 18:20Speaker 2: to go down and WWE or WWF got hot as
- 18:24Speaker 2: hell at just the right time with just the right
- 18:27Speaker 2: person to capture that audience and bring them on over.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Make everybody flip that channel from TNT over to USA.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Not saying that this is the case with AEW or
- 18:38Speaker 2: that they're going to do anything like that. But I
- 18:41Speaker 2: think there is a window now for them to pull in,
- 18:44Speaker 2: to potentially pull in some new viewers. And they're going
- 18:49Speaker 2: to be in town here in like two weeks. And
- 18:53Speaker 2: I'm strongly considering going.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I wonder how much tickets are going for those. Probably
- 19:03Speaker 3: a lot cheaper than WWE, huh?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Fuck yeah. Most expensive seats, like front row, are only
- 19:10Speaker 2: like $ 700.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:13Speaker 2: That's front row VIP package seats, which is including like,
- 19:19Speaker 2: I think, concierge service of some sort, an early pre-show
- 19:24Speaker 2: VIP thing where I guess you get to meet some
- 19:26Speaker 2: AEW stars and other merch and stuff you get to
- 19:29Speaker 2: take home. And those packages are $ 400 for like second
- 19:35Speaker 2: row seats, $ 700 for front row seats at the arena
- 19:40Speaker 2: that it's going to be held at. That's a fraction
- 19:44Speaker 2: of what WWE would charge. And that would be for
- 19:49Speaker 2: just the seat, probably nothing. not even much else of
- 19:51Speaker 2: a package and then seats not too far back from
- 19:55Speaker 2: that are in the still good quality seats are in
- 19:59Speaker 2: the 100 to 200 range so yeah way more affordable.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yeah, and probably less ads that have to sit through
- 20:09Speaker 3: when you watch it. Less, probably, ads in the ring.
- 20:14Speaker 3: There's no, probably, any on the mat or on the turnbuckles.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I bet you could see blood and they wouldn't blur
- 20:21Speaker 3: it out.
- 20:23Speaker 2: But, you know.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Yeah, you're going to start turning me off, WWE. I'm
- 20:28Speaker 3: going to start turning the fucking channel. Like, seriously. Anyway,
- 20:35Speaker 3: moving on. I think this is the 46th Saturday night
- 20:42Speaker 3: main event. This one is scratched off as I made
- 20:45Speaker 3: into a Sunday. It looks like the pattern we're going
- 20:49Speaker 3: is almost every two months we get a Saturday night,
- 20:55Speaker 3: Sunday night PLE. I'm trying to think the last time
- 21:00Speaker 3: we had a Sunday. I don't know if that's... I
- 21:05Speaker 3: think it's four, yeah. And I was wondering why, and
- 21:10Speaker 3: it's taking place in Atlanta, Georgia. My only guess is
- 21:13Speaker 3: it's the holiday. You know? Maybe that has something to
- 21:16Speaker 3: do with it. Yeah, so Atlanta, Georgia and the State
- 21:20Speaker 3: Farm Arena. Before this, we had NXT Heat Wave. And
- 21:26Speaker 3: then after this, we have another Worlds Collide. And then
- 21:32Speaker 3: we're going to finally get some money in the bank.
- 21:34Speaker 3: And that's going to be juicy. Juicy, I tell you.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Well, NXT Heat Wave did happen. It just happened over
- 21:41Speaker 2: the weekend, too. Same day as All In.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 2: And got a new NXT Women's Champion. Finally, Kalani Jordan
- 21:53Speaker 2: won the title. She's been down in NXT for the longest.
- 21:56Speaker 2: She's like an NXT veteran at this point. Oh, wow.
- 21:59Speaker 2: And she finally won the championship. Right.
- 22:03Speaker 3: It should be Kendall Gray, finally.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Nice.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Grayson Waller. What is going on with Grayson Waller down
- 22:11Speaker 3: at NXT? I'm hearing Grayson Waller's name being thrown around
- 22:15Speaker 3: a lot. What is the story?
- 22:17Speaker 2: He showed up. Apparently, he showed up. Cut a fire promo. Supposedly,
- 22:22Speaker 2: rumor is, he was also given the 50% pay cut treatment,
- 22:27Speaker 2: and he accepted. Went down at NXT. Cut a pretty,
- 22:32Speaker 2: you know, somewhat pipe bomb ish type promo and found
- 22:36Speaker 2: himself in the title picture and just won the title
- 22:39Speaker 2: at Henning at NXT heat wave in a, what was it?
- 22:42Speaker 2: A fatal four way or a triple threat. Yeah.
- 22:45Speaker 3: A fatal four way or something like that.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yeah. When the title totally Tony D'Angelo Cruz, Montana and
- 22:53Speaker 3: Zilla Fox too, by the Zilla Fox too. We got
- 22:58Speaker 3: blood members everywhere. Bloodline members everywhere.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Cruz Montana is a fucking horrible name.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Cruz Montana.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Why would you change it? It's awful. Mike Santana was
- 23:09Speaker 4: just fine. Why would you go with that?
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 4: Wow.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I knew Mike Santana was in there. I didn't know
- 23:16Speaker 2: he changed his name to Cruz Santana. What the fuck
- 23:18Speaker 2: is NXT doing with names? People are coming in with
- 23:22Speaker 2: made names that roll off the tongue and they're just.
- 23:26Speaker 4: We know why they're doing it.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Because So they can copyright it. Cruz is his brother
- 23:34Speaker 1: and Montana is his cousin.
- 23:38Speaker 4: There is a familial link to it or whatever.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It's not just something they spit out of nowhere, but still.
- 23:45Speaker 4: He's got a name. He's got an identity.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Why change things? They let Joe up on two, stay
- 23:50Speaker 1: Joe up on two. They let Joe Hendry stay Joe Hendry.
- 23:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I don't understand.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Yeah. Where, where, where is the line? You know, like
- 24:02Speaker 4: some people can do it. It's okay for some.
- 24:04Speaker 1: People, but not okay for most, I would say.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Exactly. You got Mike Santana, a known name, a known commodity,
- 24:14Speaker 2: a name that carries weight coming in. The reason why
- 24:17Speaker 2: he got the pop that he got when he showed
- 24:19Speaker 2: up is because he's fucking Mike Santana. Not Cruz. Not
- 24:24Speaker 2: Cruz Montana. He was Mike Santana. We knew that person.
- 24:29Speaker 2: That name meant something. And then they just say, we're
- 24:33Speaker 2: just going to erase that and start over. Same thing
- 24:35Speaker 2: with Nikki Blackheart, who is now going by Raina Vulcan,
- 24:40Speaker 2: which does not roll off the tongue at all.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Jesus.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Unless you are.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Latino or Hispanic descent, and it rolls off the tongue,
- 24:51Speaker 2: but Nikki Blackheart was the known commodity. Nikki Blackheart was
- 24:57Speaker 2: the name that was built on the indies. Nikki Blackheart
- 24:59Speaker 2: is the reason why when she showed up, the crowd reacted,
- 25:03Speaker 2: and even I forgot who they're, Vic Joseph, I think
- 25:07Speaker 2: the NXT announcer, why he said, wait, we know who
- 25:10Speaker 2: that is.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:12Speaker 2: He said that on the mic when she debuted.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:16Speaker 2: We know who that is. Yeah, we do know who
- 25:18Speaker 2: that is. Nikki Blackheart, not Reina Volkann. You can't sit
- 25:22Speaker 2: there and say we know who that is and then
- 25:24Speaker 2: give her a whole different name. It doesn't make any
- 25:28Speaker 2: sense at all whatsoever. And yes, I know she had
- 25:33Speaker 2: reasons behind that name as well, but that's a name
- 25:38Speaker 2: I can tell you. That name is not going to stick.
- 25:40Speaker 2: They're either going to shorten it to La Reina or something, but...
- 25:45Speaker 2: The reign of Ocon is not going to stick. It's
- 25:48Speaker 2: too awkward. It's not something that, like I said, it
- 25:51Speaker 2: doesn't roll off the tongue. It's not something that is
- 25:53Speaker 2: easily said. Right.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Yeah, well, they're fucking people's names.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Right.
- 26:12Speaker 2: And I can imagine somebody like Naomi just absolutely tearing
- 26:15Speaker 2: that name apart.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Like, Naomi, come on, what, the reign of Voltron? Yeah, Voltron.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that. Wait till we get a hold
- 26:27Speaker 3: of it when they get to the main roster. Right,
- 26:30Speaker 3: Stephanie Vacuum? All right, let's talk about this massive card
- 26:37Speaker 3: we have. Oh, no, I just closed the window. Damn it.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Let's talk about this card. Give me, like, three seconds.
- 26:44Speaker 3: I just closed the window. Look, I got big horse's ass.
- 26:49Speaker 3: This is fucking embarrassing. Oh, man. We have 45 of
- 26:54Speaker 3: these things. I gotta scroll all the way to the bottom.
- 26:56Speaker 3: All the way to the bottom. Who do we got
- 26:59Speaker 3: on the poster? We got Trick Williams and Lil Yachty
- 27:04Speaker 3: on the poster. Um... Yeah, let's just kick off with
- 27:09Speaker 3: that match. Baron Corbin versus Lil Yachty. Singles match with
- 27:14Speaker 3: a five-minute time limit. If Yachty manages to survive the
- 27:20Speaker 3: time limit, Trick Williams will receive a match for the
- 27:24Speaker 3: WWE United States title against Corbin on the same night.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Where do I begin?
- 27:33Speaker 2: There's the fifth match you were looking for.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Ugh.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Within the match, right? Fuck. Yeah, because Baron has been
- 27:46Speaker 3: walking around with this title even as late as this week,
- 27:51Speaker 3: and the title has not changed. It is still Trick
- 27:53Speaker 3: Williams' custom fur title, and I'm pretty sure that's not
- 27:58Speaker 3: Baron Corbin saying, you know what? I'll rock this. I
- 28:00Speaker 3: like this. This is me. Because some guys, when they
- 28:05Speaker 3: win Custom titles, they immediately get rid of them. You know,
- 28:10Speaker 3: when Kofi won his first title, they made sure to
- 28:12Speaker 3: get rid of that fucking wooden, organic, hemp, fucking whatever
- 28:17Speaker 3: it was title that Daniel Bryan had and made sure
- 28:19Speaker 3: Kofi held up a real WWE title. So, yeah, this
- 28:27Speaker 3: and then obviously putting the fucking stipulation in, we're getting
- 28:34Speaker 3: Baron Corbin versus Trick Williams yet again. He made a
- 28:41Speaker 3: good point, though, the past few weeks during promos that
- 28:46Speaker 3: you've had a title shot, you lost, you had a rematch,
- 28:50Speaker 3: and you lost again. Back of the line.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Here we are.
- 28:59Speaker 3: I've heard that Lil Yachty has been in the performance centers,
- 29:03Speaker 3: believe it or not, spending some time He just has
- 29:07Speaker 3: to survive five minutes. I feel like this is how
- 29:12Speaker 3: Jelly Roll started or something, right? Because now, you know, news,
- 29:19Speaker 3: Jelly Roll action figure has actually dropped this week. So
- 29:23Speaker 3: if you want a new WWE action figure, you can
- 29:26Speaker 3: get the Jelly Roll wrestling action figure. So who knows?
- 29:30Speaker 3: Maybe next year we'll be talking about the Little Yachty
- 29:34Speaker 3: Sunday Night Main Event version action figure that just dropped.
- 29:40Speaker 3: He's been sticking around since WrestleMania. He hasn't gone anywhere.
- 29:43Speaker 3: He's been sticking by Trick's side. He's getting into the
- 29:47Speaker 3: ring now. Could Little Yachty be a jelly roll? Could
- 29:54Speaker 3: he be a bad bunny? A bad bunny where he... Okay, so.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Those two are not at all the same.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Okay, but.
- 30:05Speaker 4: I don't think you can compare Jelly Roll and Bad
- 30:08Speaker 4: Bunny at all.
- 30:09Speaker 3: No, I know. Exactly. Okay, so... Can we compare? He's
- 30:15Speaker 3: going to end up in one of those categories. It's
- 30:17Speaker 3: going to be awful, or it's going to be great.
- 30:19Speaker 4: I think he's going to be closer to Jelly Roll.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Okay, that's what I mean. That's the bar. That's the
- 30:25Speaker 3: rating we have. Jelly Roll to Bad Bunny. How is
- 30:28Speaker 3: he going to be?
- 30:31Speaker 2: Sure, I mean, if you're looking at Lil Yachty to
- 30:34Speaker 2: be an actual wrestler, I'm not looking for him to
- 30:38Speaker 2: be an actual wrestler in this match. Yes, I know
- 30:41Speaker 2: he's been at the PC putting some work in, but honestly,
- 30:47Speaker 2: I think the fact that they put it in the
- 30:49Speaker 2: stipulation of he has to just last five minutes tells
- 30:53Speaker 2: me that it's pretty much just going to be five
- 30:55Speaker 2: minutes of him getting his ass kicked.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Nice, yeah.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I don't think And maybe, maybe we might get one,
- 31:02Speaker 2: maybe two little quick little sparks of offense from him
- 31:07Speaker 2: where he hits a move just enough to get a
- 31:10Speaker 2: pop from the crowd. But I don't, I'm not looking
- 31:15Speaker 2: at this like the way they did. Definitely not on
- 31:17Speaker 2: the level of Bad Bunny, who actually wrestled a legitimate match.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Or even Jelly Roll, who got in legitimate offense and
- 31:26Speaker 2: pulled off legitimate moves against people. And even him wrestled
- 31:36Speaker 2: somewhat competently his second time around for a decent amount
- 31:39Speaker 2: of time. I'm not looking for that from Lil Yachty.
- 31:42Speaker 2: And like I said, just based on the way they're
- 31:46Speaker 2: selling this match to us, is that he just has
- 31:48Speaker 2: to survive five minutes. Baron Corbin's going to carry the
- 31:52Speaker 2: shit out of him. Baron Corbin's going to whoop his ass.
- 31:55Speaker 2: And Lil Yachty is just going to hang on just
- 31:58Speaker 2: long enough for Trick Williams to get the actual match
- 32:02Speaker 2: probably later on that night on the card. But I'm
- 32:06Speaker 2: not thinking, you know, we're going to get Lil Yachty
- 32:10Speaker 2: pulling out Mexican destroyers and shit like that. No. He
- 32:15Speaker 2: should be treated exactly as he is. A celebrity rapper, non-wrestler,
- 32:22Speaker 2: getting in the ring with an actual wrestler, and getting
- 32:25Speaker 2: his fucking teeth kicked in for it.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Man, I'm expecting too much here, I guess.
- 32:30Speaker 4: They used to do this with, like... They used to
- 32:33Speaker 4: do this with, like, the Harvey Whipple men of the world.
- 32:36Speaker 4: You know, back in the old days. You know, it's... Yeah, exactly.
- 32:41Speaker 4: He's gonna... It's gonna be.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Four minutes and 50 seconds of him running away, you know,
- 32:48Speaker 1: and getting his butt kicked or whatever, and then he's
- 32:50Speaker 1: going to, with 10 seconds left, he's going to get
- 32:52Speaker 1: a move or two in, just enough that Corbin can't
- 32:55Speaker 1: pin him until, you know.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Five minutes and two seconds, and there you go. Trick
- 33:01Speaker 4: set is matched.
- 33:03Speaker 1: It'll just be stupid, fluffy time waster, really, just to
- 33:07Speaker 1: get you back to an excuse to have another Trick
- 33:12Speaker 1: Williams baron club in manichigan this is fine i mean
- 33:16Speaker 1: they're so they're so um hurting for heels right.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Now uh that like baron corbin's like a breath.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Of fresh air coming in there's like a pure heel
- 33:26Speaker 1: for for a change it seems to be there's so
- 33:28Speaker 1: few many so few of them especially on smackdown.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Anyway um.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's a lot of
- 33:38Speaker 1: people were so puzzled when he came back and I,
- 33:41Speaker 1: and I thought, well, you got somebody that knows how to.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Get heat and see a.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Problem over on the SmackDown brand.
- 33:48Speaker 4: So, yeah, I mean, this is, this is designed to
- 33:51Speaker 4: do just that. And then I think, I think Chuck
- 33:54Speaker 4: probably takes the title back. Do we think that? Yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I think if they, if, if, Assuming that Yachty lasts
- 34:04Speaker 2: the five minutes, then yes, Trick gets his match and
- 34:08Speaker 2: he gets the title back here at Sunday Night Main
- 34:11Speaker 2: Event against Baron Corbin. Right.
- 34:15Speaker 1: It seems like you don't set up a match like
- 34:17Speaker 1: this for him not to make the five minutes.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Right, right. And you definitely don't want to bury your
- 34:23Speaker 2: rising star, Trick Williams, against Baron Corbin by losing this
- 34:29Speaker 2: many times of the road to this guy. Right.
- 34:32Speaker 3: I mean, I just thought we had something bigger planned
- 34:35Speaker 3: down the road just because Money in the Bank is
- 34:38Speaker 3: like right around the corner. And I understand you can
- 34:42Speaker 3: hold the United States title and still compete in the
- 34:44Speaker 3: Money in the Bank. But I just, I don't know.
- 34:48Speaker 3: I just thought since he lost it, the timing was perfect. So,
- 34:52Speaker 3: I mean, if he loses here, that's where he could go.
- 34:56Speaker 3: It's right around the corner. I mean, like I said,
- 34:59Speaker 3: I would I penciled in for that.
- 35:06Speaker 2: That possibility can't be ruled out. But then you still
- 35:11Speaker 2: have to end up finding something for Trick Williams to
- 35:13Speaker 2: do in the meantime if he's not champion. And he's
- 35:17Speaker 2: just came out on the losing end of a drawn
- 35:20Speaker 2: out feud with Baron Corbin. Baron Corbin's got plenty to do.
- 35:24Speaker 2: He'd be the champion. He's got other talent he can
- 35:27Speaker 2: work with. Carmelo Hayes and others, you know, but for trick,
- 35:35Speaker 2: what do you do between Sunday and money in the
- 35:39Speaker 2: bank or the bill, at least the buildup to money
- 35:42Speaker 2: in the bank, if he's not champion or if he's
- 35:43Speaker 2: not doing anything else.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I really can't.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 3: I don't know where he goes. I mean, I guess
- 35:52Speaker 3: we're going to do be just flip-flopping this title. Um,
- 35:57Speaker 3: it just, I just feel like Baron Corbin's going to
- 36:00Speaker 3: go down the road that Rusev went down. You show up,
- 36:03Speaker 3: you make a big impact, then somehow you fade in
- 36:07Speaker 3: the background. So, let's hope that this is not the case.
- 36:12Speaker 3: That's how I see it going with Baron, unfortunately.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Respectfully, it's Baron Corbin.
- 36:21Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 36:23Speaker 2: They brought him in to be a top guy in
- 36:30Speaker 2: the company at all. I think they brought him in
- 36:33Speaker 2: specifically to be enhancement talent, to be a trusted veteran
- 36:40Speaker 2: who can work with this next generation, this young up
- 36:43Speaker 2: and coming talent and can give them good feuds, good matches,
- 36:48Speaker 2: good in ring reps and elevate them. So I think
- 36:53Speaker 2: this is him and they put the title on him to,
- 36:56Speaker 2: you know, establish him as credible. from the jump, which worked,
- 36:59Speaker 2: because if he came in and just immediately got squashed
- 37:02Speaker 2: by Trick, then he has no credibility. We have no
- 37:06Speaker 2: reason to take Baron Corbin seriously. But by him coming
- 37:09Speaker 2: in and immediately winning the title and holding on to
- 37:13Speaker 2: it for at least going on a month now or
- 37:16Speaker 2: close to it, and being able to fend off Trick
- 37:21Speaker 2: Williams for an amount of time, that at least gives
- 37:23Speaker 2: him some credibility moving forward. Yeah, totally. Yeah, and the
- 37:34Speaker 2: days are still laying motherfuckers down left and right.
- 37:38Speaker 3: End of days. Yeah, I like that move. All right,
- 37:42Speaker 3: let's talk about the women's.
- 37:44Speaker 4: For a long time.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 37:46Speaker 4: One last thing about Corbin.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Remember for the longest time, he was the last guy
- 37:52Speaker 1: to beat Roman Reigns for like three years.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Yep.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Remember when Cody was trying to finish the story?
- 38:00Speaker 4: I remember that.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Who was the last person to pin Roman Reigns? It
- 38:03Speaker 1: was Baron Corbin, I think.
- 38:05Speaker 4: God.
- 38:07Speaker 3: What a deep dive for that one. Alright, we got
- 38:12Speaker 3: a six-women tag team match. Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, their
- 38:18Speaker 3: new friend Tatum Paxley versus Jade Cargill, Meechan, and B-Fab.
- 38:26Speaker 3: So this match is happening. Uh, yeah, this is, this
- 38:31Speaker 3: is just filler for me.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Right. Uh, uh, yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I mean, like, I like, are we in this match?
- 38:40Speaker 3: I do too. I do too. Like, I, I like
- 38:43Speaker 3: everybody in this match. I think we're going to be
- 38:44Speaker 3: running back Charlotte and Jade again. Uh, I don't know
- 38:50Speaker 3: what angle they're playing with Tatum Paxley. Like, is she,
- 38:53Speaker 3: is this going to be a three person group or
- 38:55Speaker 3: is this Charlotte and Tatum are not going to get
- 38:58Speaker 3: along and we're going to see, you know, uh, Charlotte
- 39:02Speaker 3: versus Alexa at some point, there's going to be some problem,
- 39:05Speaker 3: you know, with the third friend in the group, you know,
- 39:08Speaker 3: that could be the, the, they could lose this match
- 39:11Speaker 3: because of that. Um, so I don't think Charlotte's fully
- 39:15Speaker 3: on board with Tatum Paxley. Um, Doesn't really know much too.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Much about her. But she's not showing any real disdain either.
- 39:22Speaker 2: It's more just like awkward acceptance.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Exactly. Like, you know.
- 39:28Speaker 2: And I like, personally, I like the dynamic. that they
- 39:30Speaker 2: have you know obviously charlotte and alexa have great on-screen
- 39:35Speaker 2: chemistry together they work together bringing in a wild card
- 39:39Speaker 2: like tatum paxley gives it a new entertaining wrinkle for
- 39:43Speaker 2: them to have to deal with so i mean Obviously,
- 39:47Speaker 2: this will come to an end at some point, but
- 39:49Speaker 2: I don't see why it needs to end anytime soon.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Did anybody see Alexa Bliss posted a picture? She
- 40:00Speaker 3: slipped in the middle of the night in the bathroom
- 40:02Speaker 3: and hit her eye directly on the shower handle. And
- 40:05Speaker 3: she has this massive black and blue, but still still
- 40:11Speaker 3: is going to wrestle. So we'll see. some heavy makeup or,
- 40:15Speaker 3: you know, like, like we always say with most wrestlers,
- 40:19Speaker 3: like when you have a bruise or something, like don't
- 40:21Speaker 3: cover it, rock it. You know, like, uh, I think
- 40:25Speaker 3: it was like, was it like two weeks ago? Uh,
- 40:31Speaker 3: Cody says, I'm still wearing makeup to cover the bruises
- 40:36Speaker 3: you left on my face. I'm like, bro, why are
- 40:38Speaker 3: you wearing makeup? He's the man of the people, I guess,
- 40:50Speaker 3: or whatever. I'm like, dude, I don't wear makeup. Nor
- 40:53Speaker 3: do I wear a seven-piece suit. But, you know, whatever.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Nor do I own a track suit. So, man of
- 41:02Speaker 3: the people. Yeah, so I assume... the faces that are
- 41:10Speaker 3: going to go over in this match. Is there any
- 41:14Speaker 3: other bold predictions that you guys have for this match?
- 41:21Speaker 2: No, it's probably going to go to... It's probably going
- 41:25Speaker 2: to go to Charlotte and them because they're the baby
- 41:28Speaker 2: faces and they want to give them a win. And
- 41:32Speaker 2: I guess that'll allow them to finally put Jade and
- 41:36Speaker 2: her crew behind them, which... Who knows where that leaves
- 41:41Speaker 2: them afterwards.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Which is unfortunate.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Because Meechan is a great worker. She's one I like
- 41:51Speaker 2: as well. But they seem to be giving her the
- 41:56Speaker 2: Chelsea Green treatment. She's there to make the other ones
- 41:58Speaker 2: look good. But unfortunately, Meechan doesn't have the same following
- 42:02Speaker 2: that Chelsea Green has to break through it. Right.
- 42:06Speaker 4: I was just about to say, it worked out all
- 42:08Speaker 4: right for Chelsea, but you're right.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Meechan just doesn't have that same backing.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Right. I mean, I could see if we get a
- 42:16Speaker 3: face tag team with those titles, you know, once they
- 42:21Speaker 3: get off Fatal Attraction, and then you could see them
- 42:25Speaker 3: running for the tag titles. Because they haven't gotten, I
- 42:29Speaker 3: don't believe they've gotten the tag titles yet, Meechan and B-Fab.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Who?
- 42:34Speaker 3: Meechan B-Fat, that could be a possibility down the road.
- 42:36Speaker 3: If you want to make that stable a threat, you've
- 42:42Speaker 3: got to throw some gold in there. You want to
- 42:44Speaker 3: make it relevant. Even Paul Heyman said that. You want
- 42:46Speaker 3: to be relevant, go get some gold. And then they
- 42:49Speaker 3: came back with the tag titles.
- 42:51Speaker 2: They probably should have been done that with them because
- 42:56Speaker 2: the stable ain't new. The stable's been around since WrestleMania.
- 42:59Speaker 2: You're right.
- 43:00Speaker 3: They should have because Fatal Attraction comes in, wrecks house,
- 43:04Speaker 3: you know, literally Rex house takes a few women off,
- 43:08Speaker 3: you know, with orbital injuries and shoulder injuries. And they,
- 43:11Speaker 3: now they hold both tag titles, uh, and the United
- 43:16Speaker 3: States title. So yeah, it's like, you could have pushed
- 43:22Speaker 3: these three the same way. Cause when Jade had the title,
- 43:25Speaker 3: you could have definitely thrown the titles in there.
- 43:28Speaker 2: And they'd have much more credibility and look, be seen
- 43:34Speaker 2: as much more legitimate than they are now. But yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 2: they never did that. Like you said, the NXT call-ups
- 43:41Speaker 2: come in and accomplish more in less time.
- 43:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 3: And, um, that's what I'm hoping when those titles are
- 43:49Speaker 3: off of those heels that we could see that because
- 43:53Speaker 3: if not, you're just gonna, you know, just fall into
- 43:56Speaker 3: the background and it really sucks because you're all in
- 44:00Speaker 3: the same ship and you're all going to drown. Anyway,
- 44:06Speaker 3: let's move on to some more interesting things. So we
- 44:10Speaker 3: got our first, second, and possibly third match. Let's talk
- 44:17Speaker 3: about Oba Femi and Braun Breaker. This match will be
- 44:21Speaker 3: deciding basically the future of this company is how they're
- 44:27Speaker 3: making it out to be. You know, this is a
- 44:31Speaker 3: big match. You know, Obafemi, hot off of retiring Brock
- 44:37Speaker 3: Lesnar and also being a King of the Ring winner.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Still not a world champion yet. I feel like it's
- 44:46Speaker 3: the best you can do before being world champion or
- 44:50Speaker 3: being L champion. With those kind of accolades. Braun, you know, I...
- 44:58Speaker 3: Braun would definitely have been elevated much higher than he
- 45:01Speaker 3: is now if he wasn't for his injury we could
- 45:04Speaker 3: have seen him maybe with the rumble and the position
- 45:08Speaker 3: that would have put him in could have skyrocketed bringing
- 45:13Speaker 3: him and putting him with division I thought was awesome
- 45:18Speaker 3: again injury is what injury after injury not just him
- 45:23Speaker 3: the other guys around him getting injured I felt like
- 45:26Speaker 3: also affected his career That happens when you're in a group.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Sometimes it could help and sometimes it could weaken the group,
- 45:34Speaker 3: especially when you don't have that many people. This is
- 45:40Speaker 3: one of those matches that we're going to see a
- 45:43Speaker 3: bunch of and we're going to see it a lot.
- 45:46Speaker 3: These two guys are going to be around for a while.
- 45:49Speaker 3: These are both the future of the company. I feel
- 45:54Speaker 3: like every couple years we get two guys who are
- 45:57Speaker 3: just Bound to do this forever. This back and forth.
- 46:05Speaker 3: The Rock and Stone Cold. John Cena and Randy Orton.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Roman and Seth. Oba and Braun. This could be it.
- 46:16Speaker 3: I think it doesn't matter who wins this. It doesn't
- 46:22Speaker 3: matter who loses this. I guess for the beginning of
- 46:27Speaker 3: this feud. But at the end of the day, I
- 46:32Speaker 3: think I'm just going to want to see more and more.
- 46:33Speaker 3: I'm going to want to see these guys go at
- 46:35Speaker 3: it again and again. I did like the promo that
- 46:41Speaker 3: these guys cut on each other. I mean, they're so
- 46:44Speaker 3: good at it. You know, Braun, I like him telling Oba,
- 46:48Speaker 3: you know, I'm basically going to take you out into
- 46:50Speaker 3: the deep end and I'm going to tire your ass
- 46:53Speaker 3: out and I'm going to watch you drown. You know,
- 46:56Speaker 3: I thought that was clever. because, you know, Oba is
- 47:00Speaker 3: a beast, man, but it's, uh, Braun may have the,
- 47:04Speaker 3: the stamina, you know, and, and Braun, this is something
- 47:08Speaker 3: that he has an advantage of over Oba, and, and we'll,
- 47:12Speaker 3: we'll see that, uh, it's, it's exciting, uh, I'm pretty
- 47:18Speaker 3: excited for this match, and it's, it's, it's not the
- 47:21Speaker 3: main event, uh, I don't know, this is probably gonna
- 47:25Speaker 3: be the one that opens the show, right, uh, I
- 47:30Speaker 3: would have to assume. I mean, you want views, right?
- 47:33Speaker 3: You want people... They've been putting Obafemi in a lot
- 47:38Speaker 3: of the opening of the shows we've seen with Brock.
- 47:42Speaker 3: They've been opening a lot of those Peacock episodes. Is
- 47:46Speaker 3: it on Peacock and then it goes on ESPN or
- 47:48Speaker 3: is it always on ESPN, right? No, Sunday Night Mayhem
- 47:51Speaker 3: ends on Peacock. Yeah, it is. Peacock, okay. Yeah, yeah.
- 47:58Speaker 3: I think we're going to get Braun has to win
- 48:01Speaker 3: this first match, right? I feel like he has to
- 48:06Speaker 3: prove to Paul Heyman. I mean, Paul Heyman looks like
- 48:11Speaker 3: he's being tugged. He's being pulled, man, in either direction.
- 48:15Speaker 3: But the way Paul makes it sound is like, if
- 48:18Speaker 3: you don't win this match, you know, I am going
- 48:22Speaker 3: to go look for business elsewhere. Somebody better. And they
- 48:28Speaker 3: might be slowly pulling... haul away from Bron and I mean, dude,
- 48:34Speaker 3: like they got a tease, tease it a little bit. Well,
- 48:38Speaker 3: what do you guys think of the idea of Bron
- 48:40Speaker 3: leaving the vision completely and becoming a face? Um, you know, I,
- 48:49Speaker 3: I feel like he could totally pull it off. Um,
- 48:52Speaker 3: but with that said, I hope there's no, I feel
- 48:58Speaker 3: like we're going to get it. but I would like
- 49:01Speaker 3: it to be a clean win, but I think this
- 49:04Speaker 3: is when we get Bronson Reed returning. A returning jacked
- 49:09Speaker 3: Bronson Reed, may I add. From what his pictures look like,
- 49:15Speaker 3: a guy who's in great fucking shape right now.
- 49:18Speaker 2: So, I.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Think he's going to be returning. Does he need to
- 49:23Speaker 3: interfere in this match?
- 49:24Speaker 2: No.
- 49:25Speaker 3: But if they make it look like Oba has the
- 49:27Speaker 3: upper hand, I could see it. And then now Oba
- 49:30Speaker 3: has to deal with Braun, Breaker, and, you know, Bronson
- 49:34Speaker 3: Reed and basically all of Vision. That's who he'll probably
- 49:37Speaker 3: feud with the next month or so. just running through vision,
- 49:42Speaker 3: you know, but, uh, yeah, Braun, I got my money
- 49:46Speaker 3: on him. Uh, I said enough. God, go ahead, Dre.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Go ahead. Hmm.
- 49:53Speaker 2: As exciting as this match is on paper and as
- 49:56Speaker 2: much as they are hyping it up and building up
- 49:59Speaker 2: this match to be something major and important, I'm just not,
- 50:06Speaker 2: I don't feel the same level of excitement as they're
- 50:08Speaker 2: trying to make me feel. And the main reason why
- 50:11Speaker 2: I don't feel it is because I think WWE is
- 50:15Speaker 2: too chicken shit to give us a winner. If I
- 50:20Speaker 2: could go into this match and confidently say that one
- 50:23Speaker 2: of these two is actually going to emerge the winner
- 50:28Speaker 2: and actually emerge branded the future of the company, then
- 50:34Speaker 2: I could actually be interested and excited and invested. But
- 50:38Speaker 2: I don't believe they're going to do that. WWE has
- 50:42Speaker 2: shown us far too often that they play it safe
- 50:46Speaker 2: because they want to protect the person. They don't want
- 50:51Speaker 2: to damage or hurt or whatever with their up-and-coming stars,
- 50:57Speaker 2: especially on Saturday night's main event shows. So I don't
- 51:04Speaker 2: have any confidence that either one of these guys are
- 51:09Speaker 2: going to win. It's going to end in a no contest,
- 51:12Speaker 2: probably because of something like what you just said. We
- 51:15Speaker 2: get a return of Bronson Reed, which, yay, that'd be exciting. Yay,
- 51:20Speaker 2: Bronson Reed's back. But that's going to feel shitty because
- 51:25Speaker 2: it's going to come at the expense of giving us
- 51:28Speaker 2: a definitive winner in this match. And then what do
- 51:33Speaker 2: you go do from there with Bronson Reed? What? Is
- 51:36Speaker 2: he coming back because he's rejoining the division? And now
- 51:39Speaker 2: he's coming back in phenomenal shape just to be what?
- 51:44Speaker 2: The number two to to Braun to Braun Breaker? Right.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Is he coming back to be a third person in
- 51:53Speaker 2: the mix for Paul Heyman to try to choose between? Like,
- 51:57Speaker 2: do I roll with Oba? Do I roll with Braun Breaker?
- 52:00Speaker 2: Or do I roll with the new Braun and improved
- 52:03Speaker 2: Bronson Reed? Like, where does that go?
- 52:07Speaker 3: Okay.
- 52:10Speaker 2: But again, given that I, I have no confidence that
- 52:14Speaker 2: we're going to get a definitive winner. And that's my
- 52:18Speaker 2: pick is that my pick is no contest. Cause I
- 52:22Speaker 2: don't think we're going to get a winner.
- 52:24Speaker 3: All right. Uh, triple H we have a vote of
- 52:29Speaker 3: no confidence. Uh, Doyle.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:33Speaker 4: I mean, I agree with a lot of what both
- 52:35Speaker 4: of you said. Uh, uh, yeah, I don't think we're
- 52:39Speaker 4: going to get a clean win at all. Um, no
- 52:42Speaker 4: matter who it is.
- 52:43Speaker 1: And because of that, I figured that he, in that scenario,
- 52:46Speaker 1: the heel wins. Uh, I think Bronson Reed kind of
- 52:49Speaker 1: has to win. Um, yeah, I think a DQ, uh,
- 52:53Speaker 1: whether it's returning Bronson Reed, whether it's Logan Paul or
- 52:58Speaker 1: Endor Ostrich theory doing something.
- 53:01Speaker 4: Um, I think that's how it's got to go. Uh,
- 53:05Speaker 4: for a variety of reasons.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I mean, you, you, You can't have Obafemi just win
- 53:12Speaker 1: every single match, no matter what.
- 53:13Speaker 4: And I guess he hasn't. I guess Brock did beat him.
- 53:16Speaker 1: But, I mean, you've got to give him some vulnerability. Otherwise,
- 53:21Speaker 1: you're going to book yourself into a corner with the
- 53:23Speaker 1: guy and there'll be nowhere to go.
- 53:24Speaker 4: I think, you know, we talk about can they afford
- 53:29Speaker 4: a loss or can they not or whatever. I think Bronson, or.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Not Bronson, Brock, what the fuck is Bron Breaker?
- 53:36Speaker 4: Jesus fuck. Uh, I think he's getting to the point
- 53:40Speaker 4: where like he needs a big win.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Um, or else he's going to start, uh, I don't.
- 53:46Speaker 4: Know, slip if you will.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Um, so yeah, I mean, I think, I think, um,
- 53:53Speaker 1: I think it'll be some type of interference, um, And, yeah,
- 53:57Speaker 1: either a no contest or a DQ win for Braun Breaker.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Just because I don't think he can afford a loss.
- 54:04Speaker 1: I think Obafemi can, especially.
- 54:05Speaker 4: If it's dirty. And, yeah, why not?
- 54:09Speaker 1: This is as good a time as any to bring
- 54:11Speaker 1: back Bronson Reed. Yeah, and it would be interesting if
- 54:16Speaker 1: that's where Heyman ends up.
- 54:18Speaker 4: You know, not with either.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Because, you know, it does look like who's going to
- 54:21Speaker 1: get custody of Paul Heyman? Maybe they'll have a Paul
- 54:25Speaker 1: Heyman on a pole match. And it would be interesting.
- 54:30Speaker 1: We've seen two guys fighting over Paul Heyman and him
- 54:33Speaker 1: leaving with a third before we.
- 54:37Speaker 4: Could see it again.
- 54:40Speaker 2: And let me be clear. I agree with both of
- 54:42Speaker 2: y'all that Bron Breaker should win. He definitely needs to
- 54:47Speaker 2: win more out of the two. Because like you said,
- 54:51Speaker 2: his credibility as a potential top guy as a future
- 54:57Speaker 2: main eventer is kind of on the line. If he
- 55:00Speaker 2: were to lose this match clean to Oba, then we
- 55:04Speaker 2: really have no reason to take Braun Breaker seriously for
- 55:08Speaker 2: a long time until he builds himself back up.
- 55:12Speaker 4: Yeah, he definitely needs some rehab.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Right, but Oba can lose this and he's still going
- 55:18Speaker 2: to be Oba fucking Fimmy. But I don't.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Think they're going to.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Right. But I don't think there's any way in hell
- 55:27Speaker 2: that they're going to let Braun... Yeah, that they're going
- 55:31Speaker 2: to let Braun Breaker beat Oba Femi clean. Like, there's
- 55:35Speaker 2: no way in hell that's going to happen. He's Braun Breaker.
- 55:38Speaker 2: He ain't Brock Lesnar. He ain't got the cachet to
- 55:43Speaker 2: get a clean win over Oba yet. Even as new
- 55:47Speaker 2: as Oba is. Oba's got the kind of cachet in
- 55:52Speaker 2: a short period of time where if you ain't him,
- 55:57Speaker 2: if you ain't that guy, you ain't supposed to be
- 56:01Speaker 2: Oba Femi clean. Right. Unless you're that guy.
- 56:11Speaker 3: Well, I guess we're getting on to the main event.
- 56:16Speaker 3: When was the last time we saw Randy Orton versus
- 56:21Speaker 3: Cody Rhodes in a singles match.
- 56:23Speaker 2: WrestleMania.
- 56:24Speaker 3: WrestleMania. Running it back. Yeah, I mean, there's a couple
- 56:32Speaker 3: ways this match should go. I mean, it should end
- 56:35Speaker 3: up in a no contest, for all we know. Another
- 56:39Speaker 3: no contest. A lot of people are trying to predict
- 56:43Speaker 3: Cody turning heel finally. I don't. understand how you could
- 56:47Speaker 3: turn and be a bigger heel than Randy Orton, that's
- 56:51Speaker 3: really hard to do. I think to turn heel against Orton, like,
- 56:55Speaker 3: it's different if, you know, if he was against, I
- 56:59Speaker 3: don't know, another face wrestler, John Cena, you know, maybe
- 57:04Speaker 3: a Rey Mysterio, a face punk. So, but no, again,
- 57:09Speaker 3: going against Randy Orton, it doesn't matter if Randy's being
- 57:12Speaker 3: pushed as a face, you can't turn heel on Orton.
- 57:16Speaker 3: It doesn't matter how many punts to the head you do.
- 57:19Speaker 3: I'm still not going to buy.
- 57:25Speaker 4: It.
- 57:26Speaker 3: I don't want to... I really don't care if Cody
- 57:30Speaker 3: goes heel. I don't know if that's going to make
- 57:31Speaker 3: his character any better. He already comes out wearing a
- 57:39Speaker 3: 10-piece suit or whatever. Heels normally come out and wear...
- 57:43Speaker 3: He already... Tries to seem like he's better than everybody else,
- 57:47Speaker 3: even though he's the man of the people. I've discussed
- 57:49Speaker 3: this at length. There's no title on the line, so
- 57:59Speaker 3: I see Orton beating Cody clean. Clean, just an RKO
- 58:05Speaker 3: out of nowhere. Just because there is no title in
- 58:10Speaker 3: the picture, there's nothing really at stake. Just right. Just
- 58:15Speaker 3: I beat you. You beat me. I don't believe this
- 58:18Speaker 3: is even for a number one contender match. Does the
- 58:23Speaker 3: winner get a match against Orton? I mean Punk? I
- 58:28Speaker 3: don't think so, right? Punk's tied up elsewhere?
- 58:33Speaker 2: There's no number one contendership or anything on the line.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so what makes me want to see this match again.
- 58:45Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 58:48Speaker 2: The hope that it'll be better than their WrestleMania match
- 58:51Speaker 2: because there's no Pat McAfee or any other bullshit involved
- 58:56Speaker 2: in it.
- 58:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 58:58Speaker 2: Just to finally let these two go at it the
- 59:01Speaker 2: way they should have gone at it at WrestleMania.
- 59:04Speaker 3: You're right. There is no jelly roll. There is no
- 59:08Speaker 3: Pat McAfee. You're right, man. Like this is maybe the
- 59:11Speaker 3: match that we would have gotten. We should have gotten that. Exactly.
- 59:16Speaker 3: Should have done.
- 59:17Speaker 2: See what they're doing. They're running back to feud that
- 59:18Speaker 2: they should have had going into WrestleMania. Right.
- 59:22Speaker 3: And if Orton wins this, I'll be pretty pissed off
- 59:24Speaker 3: because then I'd be like, well, he could have been
- 59:26Speaker 3: a 15 time world champion. But nope. Nope. Let me
- 59:34Speaker 3: hear your piece about this, Dre. Let me hear your
- 59:37Speaker 3: piece about it.
- 59:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm pretty much echoing what you said. I think
- 59:44Speaker 2: Randy Orton probably will win this match just to even
- 59:48Speaker 2: up their feud at one apiece. Not much to invest
- 59:56Speaker 2: in with out there being any real stakes on it
- 59:58Speaker 2: other than just this being a essentially a grudge match
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: between the two and then we'll see where it goes
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: from here but yeah more than likely Randy Orton's probably
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: going to win this match I think he'll probably do
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: something dirty to win it because for all the people
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: who are still trying to play the whole Cody Rhodes
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: turn the heel thing it's not fucking happening but people
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: are just going to keep saying it until it finally
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: does happen. And then I'm like, see, look, I told
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: you motherfucker. You've been trying to tell us since 2025,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: shut the hell up. Like it's not happening. Randy Orton
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: will win. Randy Orton will do something heelish to win.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: And that's going to be it. Ah, yes.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: How many punts is it going to take to put
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: sweet old Cody roads down? Um, Speaking of Cody Rhodes, oh, well,
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: you know, Doyle, go ahead. Let me hear your thoughts.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I pretty much would echo the same
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: thing Dre said.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: You know, it's in Cody's hometown, but I don't think
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: that necessarily guarantees him a win. I think, you know,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: like I said about Braun Bray, I think Randy Orton
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: needs to win this match, even if it's dirty, which
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: I assume it will be. I don't think it would win.
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: Clean as a sheet. But it might not be filthy,
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: sloppy dirty. It might just be a little dirty. Yeah,
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Cody can afford to lose. It won't really affect him
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: in the slightest. Plus, the farther.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: I mean, a loss, I think, takes him just even
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: that much farther away from the title picture, which is
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: probably a good thing for a little while.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Even if it's, you know, only until next time WrestleMania
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: comes around or whatever. But yeah, I think Randy needs
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: to win.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: And I.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: Think he'll get it.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised to see Brandi Rhodes finally get
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: involved here because he did kind of.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: Orton mentioned her in one of the promos. I could
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: see her being a ringside and somehow getting involved. Maybe
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: she slaps Randy or something. I don't know. Or maybe Cody...
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: trying to protect her ends up getting clocked with something.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: I don't know. But I can see her.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: Getting involved in this. Yeah. Do we need to get
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: the women involved? Probably not. But we'll see. It seems
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: like everybody needs these wins. Like, you know... Trick really
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: needs this win to win back his United States title
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: he got taken from. You know, Braun really needs this
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: win over Oba. Randy really needs his win over Cody.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: And you know what? Even though who I picked to win,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: I really think Jade, Meechan, and B-Fab really need the win.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: More than Charlotte, Lexan, Tatum, Paxson. So everybody... Some of these...
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: Some of these wins aren't for titles, but they are
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: very much needed. So, yeah, we'll see. I don't know
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: what the spoilers are for pre-taped SmackDown that was done.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I don't know where they are and why it is pre-taped.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Is it because of the holiday? I don't know the
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: reason why Raw and SmackDown were pre-taped this week. If
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: you guys know.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's it.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: Yeah, probably because of the holiday.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: Sure, sure, sure.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Probably, yeah, just to give them. Give them the full
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: week off going into Labor Day and then come back
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: from Labor Day and hit the ground running into Money
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: in the Bank.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so that's Sunday Night Main Event. We'll
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: get to the post show when we do. In the meantime,
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: before we start our next segment, does anybody need a break?
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Dead silence.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: With that said, what is my next segment here? Uh-oh. Oh, no. Oh, no.
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: It's here.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: It's here. I've spent some time. I have made a
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Vince McMahon bracket. What we will be doing. To fill
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: in the time, you know. I've had this put aside
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: for a little bit. It's just a 16 spot bracket.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: We're going to be talking about some of the worst things,
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: worst storylines that Vince McMahon has put himself in throughout
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: the years in WWE. Um, this varies high and low.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: I can't even tell you where on the board, where's
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: the lowest and where's the most highest offensive. Um, they're
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: going to be all over the place. And I, that's
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: what we are going to be here to narrow down. Um,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: I did pick 16 that I could think of 16
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: that Some of these I found off the internet. What
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: a lot of people thought were some of the craziest
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: storylines he involved himself in. Not many CEOs put themselves
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: in storylines like this. Corporate people. But Vince was one
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: of those villains. And by the way, let me make
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: this very clear. We are clearly talking about the character
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: of Vince McMahon. I'm not talking about what he does
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: outside of the ring, because guess what? That is a
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: whole nother bracket, which we could probably do. Um, so, uh,
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: for this, we're just gonna just focus on what he
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: did on screen. Uh, so, uh, would you guys like
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: me to tell you all of them now, or would
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: you like me to just bring them up as we
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: come along within the tournament? Cause they are already mixed
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: up in the bracket. They're no longer in the order
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: that I originally told you guys off air.
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: I'll just read them as they come, I guess.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Yeah. Read them as they come. All right. And what
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: we'll do is when I get to them, uh, if
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: you guys remember any key moments from, from this time period,
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: I'm going to talk about it briefly. Um, Because, you
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: know what? A lot of these, I wasn't here for.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: And some of these, I know some are like Ruthless
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: Regression Era. There might be some times where I knew
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: when Dre wasn't watching. There were some spots, some times
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: that he missed. And honestly, you're probably lucky you missed
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: some of these storylines. Oh, God. So, some of these
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: can be offensive. Some of these might be offensive.
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: So.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Son of a bitch. Alright, the first one we have
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: is the Montreal Screwjob that happened in November 9th, 1997
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: back when it was WWF, the Survivor Series in Quebec.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Vince McMahon, this involved Vince McMahon, Bret Hart, and Shawn
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: Michaels and the referee, Earl Hebner. It became the most
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: infamous moment in wrestling history. It was a backstage decision
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: that was decided and centered on Bret Hart defending the
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: WWE title against Shawn Michaels. Bret was leaving WWF for
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: WCW and refused to lose the title to Michaels in Canada.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Vince McMahon feared Bret might show up on WCW TV
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: with his WWE title, so he secretly changed the finish
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: of the match. During the match, Michaels put Hart in
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: the sharpshooter, Bret's own finishing move, even though Bret never submitted.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: Vince ordered Earl Hebner to ring the bell, declaring Michaels
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: the new champion. Bret immediately realized what he had done
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: and was double-crossed. He got up, he spit in Vince's face,
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: destroyed some ring equipment, and wrote WCW in the air
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: before leaving. Yeah.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: Bret screwed Bret.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: Bret screwed Bret. man. Yeah, yeah. Doyle, tell me what
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: you remember about this. I mean, even now, it's still
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: talked about.
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, this was also the infancy of the IWC.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: I don't even think we're calling it that yet.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Um, this was definitely a, a, a trolling message boards
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: looking for somebody that, you know, knew something about, no, no.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: To this day, we still don't really a hundred percent. No,
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: for sure. For sure. What exactly happened and.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Who did what, when, um, but yeah, I'm certainly of
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: the belief that, uh.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: Sean and triple H for absolutely 100% in on it. Um,
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: despite what they may say or deny. Um, but yeah,
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: I mean, this, this was, this was one of those first, uh,
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: like what's real, what's not real, you know, kind of stories.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Um, and I don't know that anybody believed he was
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: actually on a WCW until he started up in WCW.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Right. I mean, just to screw over your own coworkers
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: like that. I mean, at the end of the day,
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: it's a business, you know, and, Just screwing over somebody
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: like that when you had agreements and then taking it
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: out there where you know you just have to go
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: with what's going on out there. You can't just.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: It's hard to stick your script out there. You know
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: what I mean?
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I think Bret Harden has notoriously taken things way too seriously.
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: I'm not sure Bret fully knows it's a work.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Imagine an actor refusing to I.
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: Guess it's happened. Sure. Um, but like, I guess it's
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: kind of the equivalent of like, well, I'm not doing that.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Well, it's in the script and you agreed to be
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: in this movie.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: So yeah, you have to do this now. You know,
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: it's the same thing.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: Yeah. Uh, Dre, what do you, what do you remember
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: at the Montreal screw job?
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Um, At the time, not a whole lot because I
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: was primarily a WCW guy. You just remember hearing about
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: it and people talking about it and not really knowing
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: if it was real or a work at the moment
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: because nothing like this had ever really transpired on TV
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: like that or on a live show like that. It was.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: You could... looking back on it, you could probably say
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: that this was one of the, one of the definitive
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: nails in the coffin of kayfabe because as, as Doyle mentioned,
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: this is, this very much blurred the lines between show
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: and reality and really kind of exposed the business in
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: a way that it hadn't been exposed before with Bret
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: Hart's reaction and outbursts and the, the WCW spelling at all.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: This wasn't, it wasn't a work intended to blur the lines.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: This was like, Oh no, this is some shit. They
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: got real. This is where the stuff we're not supposed
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: to know about bled out onto the television cameras in
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: a very real, very blatant way. Um, but like I said,
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: but at the time I was primarily watching WCW. So,
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: It was one of the things we just kind of
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: heard about and everybody just had questions about. Until, of course,
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: you know, a few months later, Bret Hart debuts in WCW.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: And it's like, oh, okay.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember when he debuted over there, how big
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: of a deal it was. Just seeing any wrestler, but
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: Bret Hart was such a big name to go over there.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: Such a big win for WCW, you know, big grab.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: And they totally fucked it up.
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: Yeah, oh boy, did they ever.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Well, speaking of fucked up, we are putting this storyline
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: against Vince McMahon wrestling a handicap. Vince McMahon versus Zach
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: Gowen was one of the wildest, most uncomfortable, most memorable
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: feuds of the Ruthless Regression Era. Built entirely around Vince
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: McMahon targeting a 20-year-old one-legged rookie to prove his own
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: cruelty and dominance, the storyline ran through the mid-2003, peaking
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: at WWE Vengeance 2003. The feud began when Zach Gowen
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: signed with the company in 2003 as the company's first
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: one-legged wrestler. Vince McMahon, in full villain mode, treated Gowen
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: as a prop to showcase his own power. Vince McMahon
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: mocked him, humiliated him, and repeatedly put him in dangerous situations,
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: including matches with Brock Lesnar and The Big Show. I
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: very much remember that. The rivalry escalated until Vince challenged
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Gowan to a one-on-one match at Vengeance 2003. Despite being
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: 53 years old, non-wrestler, Vince McMahon insisted on working a
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: full match with Gowan, even rehearsing it for weeks in
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: advance to make sure Gowan stayed safe. During the match,
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: Gowan busted Vince open with a steel chair, one of
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: the few's most famous moments. Vince ultimately won after Gowan
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: missed a corkscrew moonsault. Gowan later said he refuses to
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: speak ill of Vince, crediting him with giving him the
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: chance and protecting him during rehearsals. He even called Vince
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: a maniac, but in an affectionate way.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: Yeah. Do you guys remember this at all? is this
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: Doyle is this do you remember this storyline at all
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: when one-legged Zach Allen was hopping around the WWE.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Of course of course he was just he was just
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: the subject of a Dark Side of the Ring.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Episode Zach Allen was uh.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: This season has been pretty good, the dark side, by
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: the way.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: But the Zach Allen episode was a little thin. Yeah.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: A little not so dark for an hour. But at
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: any rate, yeah, yeah, of course I remember Zach Allen.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: I think he's still around, but he pops up at
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: indie shows here and there, I think.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: He's hopping around.
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: But, I mean, in terms of.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: what's worse.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: I mean, that was just part of, that was part
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: of the show. That was how it was supposed to go.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: You know, and Zach Gallen was a willing participant in it. Um,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: the screw job was not part of the script. Brad
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Hart was not a willing participant in it. You know, like,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: so if you're, if you're picking between the two, I
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: would go with the screw job.
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: Um, Dre, let's, let's hear your opinion on this. Do
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: you remember the, the, Vince McMahon fighting a handicap.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember this. And I'm pretty much in agreement
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: with Doyle. These two don't compare. One is one of
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: the most infamous moments in all of wrestling history. The
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: other one is the boss wrestling a one-legged guy who
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: was signed to the company. There's levels, and one of his...
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: One is not even remotely in the same stratosphere as
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: the other.
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: So, Montreal, screw job it is. All right. Next round.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: Do you guys remember in 2006 when Vince McMahon hired
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: a group of men to protect him, to be his lackeys?
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: Do you remember who those men were in 2006? He
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: used them to defend himself against a reforming D-Generation X.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: There was Pooh involved.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: The Spirit Squad?
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: The fucking Spirit Squad. The Spirit Squad was a male
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: cheerleading team who, um, They first were attacking and mocking
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: and disrespecting and making cheerleading cheers to and about Shawn Michaels.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: They put him in multiple handicap matches. And then we
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: saw they won the tag titles. The Spirit Squad won
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: the tag titles from Kane and Big Show. Do you
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: guys remember when Kane and Big Show were the fucking
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: tag champions? When I was a kid, I was like, man,
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: ain't no fucking way a group of fucking male cheerleaders
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: are going to beat Kane and Big Show. Boy, was
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: I wrong. They used the.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: One of those cheerleaders was Ziggy.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. They used the Freebird rule, you know, so,
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: you know, not only were the Freebirds using it and
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: neither were the New Day, but also, you know, The
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Spirit Squad. This is one of Vince's ideas, putting himself
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: in there, then involving himself and the Spirit Squad in pranks.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: and beatdowns with slime being dumped on them poo from
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: the ceiling falling down which we assume was supposed to
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: be poo a lot of people were probably like no
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: it was pudding or dirt or mud but you know
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: as we learn more and more about Vince as I
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: get older I realize it's probably Pooh. It's probably Pooh.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: It's Pooh, damn it!
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: He's a method actor. Yeah.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: This one isn't as offensive. It's just Vince making fun
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: of Shawn Michaels being old and Vince also making fun
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: of male cheerleaders. Really putting his employees through shit, no
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: pun intended. uh, with humiliating these guys. Um, and like
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: we said, Dolph Ziggler being one of the guys to
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: actually make something of himself out of that group. Uh,
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: I think the last time I saw the spirit squad,
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: they were beaten up by DX and put into crates
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: that said OVW and that's where they were sent. Right.
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: Or was it OVW or is it whatever was down
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: in Florida at the time before they had an NXT? Uh, Oh, F-C-W-F-L-W? F-C-W-F-L-W, yeah.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: Something like that. But do you guys remember the Spirit
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: Squad storyline with Vince McMahon at all?
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: Yeah, of course. I remember all this stuff. Yeah, it
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: was horrible. It was a shit.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Pretty sure this was after I checked out or shortly
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: before I checked out.
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: Yeah, you.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Remember them, but not much. Right.
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: So this is another one where Vince is involved somehow,
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: but he also is humiliating the shit out of some
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: of his cult workers. You know, kind of like how
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: we saw him with fighting Zach Gowen, humiliating a handicap.
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: But this is going up against the Vince McMahon... forces
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: Trish Stratus to bark like a dog segment in front
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: of a live audience. He berated her, questioned her loyalty,
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: and demanded she prove how sorry she was. The segment
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: was designed to be uncomfortable and degrading, initially pushing Vince's
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: villain persona to its extreme. This happened March 5, 2001,
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: on an episode of Raw. These escalating tensions eventually led
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: to WrestleMania 17. Trish later explained in the Mr. McMahon
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: Netflix docuseries that the segment was meant to shock and
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: set up their eventual revenge at WrestleMania. What is more degrading,
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: I guess, for your coworkers? Making them bark like a
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: dog or getting shit and slime dumped on you week
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: after week? Do you guys remember this segment at all?
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Very much so. I think this was was the beginning
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: of Trish Stratus becoming, I guess, a liked character. She
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: wasn't fully on babyface quite yet, but this was the
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: start of her turn as a character in WWE from
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: just being, you know, a valet or a vixen to
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: actually becoming a more well-developed on-screen character and eventually becoming
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: an actual wrestler.
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Because, obviously, after going out of this, she started to
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: feud with, I think, Stephanie McMahon. And one of her
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: first matches was with Stephanie McMahon. And I remember watching
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: this segment. I think when I was watching it, like,
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: in real time, I remember feeling empathy for Trish. Right.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: This is when I realized that, like, you know, she
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: could actually, she was, one of the talents that she
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: had was her ability to emote. And it showed in
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: this segment. And I mean, again, not too dissimilar from
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: the last matchup we had. Comparing this to the Spirit Squad, again,
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: there's levels. One is definitively worse than the other, and
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: it's Vince-Trish segment far worse than anything that ever happened
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: in the Spirit Squad.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: Right. Okay. Doyle, do you got anything? Do you want
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: to put in here any input?
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: No, I tend to agree with what Dre said. I
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: think the only way that the Spirit Squad even competes
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: is just the fact that there's more of them, and
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: it happened more times. So it's like a quality versus
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: quantity kind of thing.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: But I think the quality, in this case, wins out.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Yeah, so what?
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: You know, those kids, if it was good enough for
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: those kids and you can't do that on television, you
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: get slime on their heads, it's fine for the Spirit Squad, too.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: So, yeah, I think the Trish stuff was worse.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: All right. Park Like a Dog segment moves on to
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: the next round. All right, next one. Do you guys
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: recall the storyline summary where Vince sedates Linda McMahon? This
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: angle took place in late 2000, early 2001. Very similar
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: to leading into what we spoke about last round. During
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: Vince's feud with his own son Shane and his off-screen
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: affair with Trish Stratus. His on-screen, sorry. In the storyline,
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: Linda McMahon suffered a nervous breakdown after Vince McMahon publicly
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: humiliating her and flaunting his relationship with Trish. Vince then
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: had Lita placed in a catatonic, sedated state, sitting motionless
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: in a wheelchair, unable to speak or react. This was
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: presented as Vince's way of removing his wife as an
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: obstacle so he could continue abusing his power and carrying
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: on with Trish. Key elements of this angle include Linda
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: sat in a wheelchair, expressionless, heavily sedated. Vince treated her
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: like furniture, wheeling her around backstage and ringside. Trish was
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: forced to care for Linda as part of Vince's twisted control.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: Shane McMahon eventually returned to confront Vince for his cruelty.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: The storyline built towards WrestleMania 17 where Linda finally stood
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: up from the chair revealing she was no longer sedated
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: and Vince McMahon accosted Vince in the match against Shane. So, yeah.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: Tell me, Doyle, what do you remember about this?
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I remember that it happened, but I didn't really remember
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: any of the real details.
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: Oddly enough, she never did wake up from that coma.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: You know, it's just some of these, when you read
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: them out loud, like on paper, they sound so fucking stupid.
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: Because then, like, somebody... Dude, there was legit a meeting
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: where people got up early, went to work, got their coffee,
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: sat in an office, and somebody somewhere pitched this idea
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: and was like, let's go for it. Let me ask
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: my wife. And she was like, awesome, let's do it.
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: Let's get our son involved. The fuck? And then, like,
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: let's get... I have a feeling it wasn't... I don't
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: feel like it went that way. Hey, Linda, can we
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: do this?
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: It was Linda, you're doing this.
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much.
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: I don't think there was a pitch. I think Vince
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: was like, alright, here's the story, this is what we're doing.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: This is what's happening.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: Dre, do you remember this?
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: It was stupid as shit then, and just as stupid now. Yep.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: This was at the point where It was just too much.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: This is at the point where everybody was starting to
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: get sick of Vince on TV all the damn time.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: There was no Stone Cold Steve Austin for him to
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: beef with, but he felt like he still had to
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: be on TV as one of the top villains all
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: the time, so he was just forcing himself into shit,
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: and everybody was just like, dude, just get the fuck
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: off TV and let the wrestlers wrestle.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I got something to put this up against.
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: Survivor Series 2005. Basic Man's backstage skit with John Cena.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: It's one of the most controversial segments WWE has ever produced.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: Multiple wrestlers have spoken publicly about how wrong it was.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: During a backstage segment with John Cena, Vince used the N-word.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: And when he did, the camera immediately cut to Booker
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: T and Sharmell, who were both visibly shocked. And I
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: believe Booker T is like, tell me he did not
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: just say that. That's really all I.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Booker T certainly knows a lot about saying the N-word
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: on TV.
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: I know. I wonder if that's what they were leaning
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: in on.
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: They referenced it.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: That was just.
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: I didn't say.
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: That was Booker T's catchphrase. It was one of Booker
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: T's catchphrases. and he's black so.
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: Leave the black.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: Guy in let the black guy say the catchphrase put
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: a comedic spin on this otherwise extremely fucked up.
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: Segment now that I'm older I look at it like
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: I wonder if it was a jab at that moment
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: Cause somebody backstage thought this would be a funny ass segment.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: Vince.
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: Vince was probably the guy who thought this was a
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: great fucking idea. Definitely not. Uh, so yeah, what was,
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: I guess this clear moving forward, the sedated wife storyline
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: or the end word, Vince and word word. All right. Yeah.
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: Yeah. Linda, was she humiliated?
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: Yeah, sure. Whatever.
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: But she was also laughing all the way.
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: To the bank.
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: Yeah. It's hard to feel too, too bad for her.
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: And as it turns out, she's fucking a garbage human being.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: The whole family was in on the whole segment, so... Yeah, exactly.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Nothing to feel bad about there. Right.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: This one is a big one, but it's... You know,
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: I'll just briefly go over it. On March 26, 2001...
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: During the final episode of WCW Monday Night Nitro, Vince
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: McMahon appeared on WCW TV for the first time ever
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: in a storyline. Vince announced that he had purchased WCW,
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: ending the rivalry that he had dominated wrestling for six years.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: While Vince bragged on Raw about buying WCW, Shane appeared
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: live on Nitro and revealed that he was the one
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: who signed the contract, not Vince. The name on the
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: contract said McMahon, but it reads Shane McMahon. This created
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: a storyline that Shane has stolen WCW from his father,
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: setting up a McMahon family power struggle. We had this
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: storyline set up the WWE Invasion Angle, July through November
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: of 2001. Shane leading WCW talent against Vince's WWF talent.
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: the eventual formation of the Alliance, which was WCW and ECW, uh,
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: WWF and the Alliance versus the Alliance at Survivor Series.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: I remember that match, even though the real purchase was
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: made by WWE, the storyline framed as a father versus
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: son battle for control of the wrestling world. So basically
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: we're talking about the failure of a company turned into
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: a storyline. Um, Yeah, I mean, this is obviously well-known
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: throughout the wrestling community. The storyline is old as time.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: The New Testament and the Old Testament of wrestling, right?
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: I really, that's what it is for us marks. Doyle,
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: do you have anything you want to say here about
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: Vince McMahon turning this into a storyline and not making it,
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: you know, quiet? And slowly introducing wrestlers and deciding to
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: turn this into a storyline.
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: Well, what the hell else was he supposed to do?
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: I mean.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: This era... This was... At the time, this was fucking mind-blowing. Right.
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: This was... This was like... This was.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: A holy fuck.
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: Like... Because when you were a kid, all... You know,
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: it was always.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: you know, Oh.
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: What if, what if we had WWF and WCW wrestlers,
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: the same show, you know, no, that'll never happen. Oh
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: my God. It happened. Uh, of course they fucked it up.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Uh, All the guaranteed money that the guys were getting
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: from Time Warner didn't help.
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: The biggest stars stayed home. But, yeah, I mean, Jesus Christ, what.
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: Do you think one of the most successful promoters of
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: all time is going to do?
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: He's going to promote. This isn't going to happen in
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: some back room.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: This is going to happen in the splashiest manner possible.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: I wouldn't even consider this a bad thing.
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: What the hell else is he supposed to do?
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: Yeah, Dre, let's hear your thoughts. This man put himself
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: in the storyline of buying a company.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Yeah, this isn't a bad thing at all. This is
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: a historical wrestling moment. I completely agree with Doyle. There's
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: nothing bad about this other than how the storyline was executed,
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: but that had nothing to do with Vince. That was
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: just circumstances of the contracts, the guaranteed contracts that the
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: top stars had from Turner and the fact that the
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: invasion storyline went on without any of WCW's top talent.
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: They had no Sting, no Hall, no Nash, no Hogan,
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: no Goldberg, no, no, who else? Let me, None of
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: those guys. No Luger. None of them. The biggest talent
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: they had was they didn't even have Scott Steiner. Booker
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: T was the biggest name that they had because he
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: was the WCW champion. And eventually DDP. Those were the
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: two biggest names they had. Other than that, it was
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: a whole bunch of who? Like the WCW tag team champions.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: It wasn't the Steiner brothers. It wasn't. Wasn't Harlem Heat.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Wasn't any of the ones that were known during the
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: Monday Night War. Wasn't the Outsiders. It was a fucking
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: Palumbo and O'Hare, I think.
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. Mark Zendrack. Yeah.
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: You had none of the names that mattered in the
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: whole rivalry to make it work. So it was doomed
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: to fail. But the effort, the making it a storyline...
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: It's not a negative thing at all. It was the
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: biggest story in wrestling. Of course it's going to be
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: a storyline. The bad thing would have been if they
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: had done it quietly and these motherfuckers would have just
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: debuted like some new signees. No, they did the best
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: as what they could. This is not a negative.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and if you want to find a negative in there,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: he took, during that rant, he took time out to
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: fire Jeff Jarrett for a shoot.
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: So if you want to find something in there, because
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: he was just such an asshole.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he hated Jeff Jarrett so much.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: And J-E-F-F, well, it doesn't really matter because it's going
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: to be G-O-N-E.
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: Right, yeah. That's the one thing you can maybe say negative.
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: He fired him live on air.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Yeah, that is fucked up. You can put that up
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: there with Well, yeah, that could be. Took over WCW
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: while firing Jeff Jarrett on air because, again, firing somebody.
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: I mean, Montreux's true job is also firing somebody technically
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: on air. I mean, somebody lost their job during that segment.
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: It's petty. It is petty, but still a dick move
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: by Vince McMahon, nonetheless. Yeah.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: Alright, let's move on to TNA.
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: Yep. Moving along. First, one of the greatest Vince heel
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: reveals ever. This dates back to a storyline called The
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: Higher Power in 1999. The Undertaker and his administrative darkness
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: were terrorized in the WWE. They kept referencing the mysterious leader,
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: the higher power who supposedly controlled everything from the shadows.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: For weeks, WWE teased this figure as someone incredibly powerful,
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: somebody who would change the company forever. On June 7th, 1999,
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: during an episode of For All Is War, the higher
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: power was finally revealed. Shane McMahon pulled back the hood,
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: the crowd went silent, and Vince McMahon stepped forward and
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: delivered the immortal line. It's me, Austin! It was me
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: all along. Austin's reaction was priceless, pure shock and rage.
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: This reveal showed that this man has secretly been controlling
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: the Undertaker and the Ministry the entire time, all to
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: torment Stone Cold Steve Austin. Um, yeah, I guess this
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: definitely isn't as bad as airing out somebody's dirty laundry
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: on air.
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you guys remember? Wasn't it supposed to
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: be somebody else? That I don't know. This is when
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: I wasn't watching too much club wrestling.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: There were so many rumors about it was supposed to
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: be this person, that person.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: I feel like Christopher Daniels was one of the leading
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: suspicious candidates or whatever you want to call it.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: I feel like it was never supposed to be Vince,
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: and Vince just made it himself because... I think three
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: people fell through and he was just like, fuck it,
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: I'll do it.
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: Yeah, this was terrible. I mean, this is an awful storyline.
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: And I feel like they botched a couple.
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: Of these reveals because they didn't get the person they.
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: Wanted to be.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, this was just a bad storyline, yeah.
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: Pretty much. This is just bad storyline. I don't know
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: that this rises to the level of the other things
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: we've discussed. This is just a terrible storyline.
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, is this one up against the WCW thing? Yeah.
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: Considering I put it in random and this is what
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: it put itself up against. And I was not able
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: to witness the Austin. It was me, Austin all along.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: you know, when this was around, I wasn't watching then
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: as much.
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: So, I mean, I guess if you've got to pick
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: one of the two, I guess I'll pick the higher
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: power just because, yeah, that's what I would do. Cause
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: one of them is not a negative and the other
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: one is just a bad storyline. So I guess by default,
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: that one goes ahead. But realistically, I don't know that
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: either one of these qualify.
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: Okay. This will be a lot easier in the next
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: few rounds, then.
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: Uh....
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: And, uh.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: The next one... Do you guys remember when Vince McMahon,
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: in 2007, was feuding with Bobby Lashley for their ECW title?
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: And.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: After Lashley embarrassed Vince multiple times, especially during the Battle
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: of the Billionaires, which we'll get to, filled with Donald Trump,
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: Vince snapped and reinvented himself as a street boss parody character.
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: To sell the gimmick, Vince began appearing on the TV
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: wearing a black do-rag, a fake mustache and goatee, a
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: gold chain, baggy clothes, a dependent tough guy voice, This
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: version of Vince was called Do-Rag Vince by fans. This
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: look was intentionally ridiculous and meant to show Vince losing
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: his mind after Lashley shaved his head at WrestleMania 23.
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: He wore the Do-Rag for months, including during matches, backstage segments,
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: and even while holding the ECW title. So this was
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: not a One time offensive thing. This is a, Vince
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: did this. He went home, went to bed, woke up
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: and was like, this is still a good idea. So, Doyle,
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: what do you remember about do-rag Vince?
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: I think I've covered this before, but I saw a
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: guy that made his own do-rag Vince t-shirt. I saw
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: that MLW show I went to maybe a couple months
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: ago at this point maybe yeah I mean it's classic
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: it's classic classic awful Vince McMahon racist bullshit yeah it's
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: I mean he's such an asshole it's really just the
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: character and the guys it's really it's like this just.
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: Really drives that home yeah Dre, let's hear your thoughts, man.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: Only two things that I remember from this, even though, again,
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: this was at the time when I was checked out.
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: But one, the one time Vince wore like a lavender
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: suit and had a lavender do-rag that matched perfectly.
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember.
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: And this is also when he used the fucking N-word.
- 1:42:03Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: During the do-right Vince era.
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: Man, it's funny how a lot of these all tie together.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: It's like one big offensive moment.
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: So... This is going up against WWE No Mercy 2003.
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: We have storyline built around Vince McMahon trying to force
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: Stephanie out of her role as... General Manager of SmackDown.
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: Vince would believe Stephanie was defying him, undermining him, and
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: siding with wrestlers he didn't approve of, especially Brock Lesnar
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: and The Undertaker. Vince demands she resign. Stephanie refused, so
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: Vince did what only Vince would do. He booked a
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: match against his own daughter. Stipulations. If Stephanie lost, she
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: had to resign as GM. If Vince lost, he Give
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: up his power over Stephanie. Linda McMahon tried to stop
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: the match, pleading with Vince backstage. Vince ignored her. Linda
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: ended up ringside watching her husband fighting her own daughter.
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: This was not a comedy match. It was brutal. Vince
- 1:43:21Speaker 3: dominated Stephanie physically in the match. Stephanie fought back with
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: everything she had, including a steel pipe. When Linda was
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: begging for Vince to stop multiple times, he totally ignored her.
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: Vince just kept going with zero remorse. Vince refused to
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: quit until Linda finally threw in the towel to save
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: her daughter, Stephanie. Never said, I quit, though. Linda said,
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: I quit for her. After the match, Stephanie was carried
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: out crying and defeated while Vince stood there as the
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: victorious villain. Yeah, it's another... Storyline involving his family, but
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: this time we've seen matches with him and Shane, but
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: I never thought we'd get a match with him and Stephanie.
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: I mean, there was even times he put Stephanie against
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: Big Show. I remember him putting Stephanie against a bunch
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: of wrestlers. A-Train, I think, was one of them. I
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: don't know if you guys remember that. Do you guys
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: remember this at all? Doyle, do you remember this?
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, vaguely.
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: I don't really remember the specifics necessarily, but.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: And yeah, I definitely remember him having matches with, I think,
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: every member of the family at some point.
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Everybody's gotten in the ring with Vince at
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: some point.
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, they all got rich as fuck
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: off of this, and they're all, you know, willing participants
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: in it.
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: It's not like....
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: Stephanie, they went out there and they said something Stephanie
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: didn't know they were going to say. I just don't
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: think there's any comparison to that and the fucking do-rag bullshit.
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: I think that's 100,000 times worse.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: Dre, what.
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: Are your thoughts? Yeah.
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: Again, pretty much in agreement with Doyle. Do-rag Vince was
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: worse because It was outside of the family, and that
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: was insulting to many other people versus the family just
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: circling the wagon and coming up with stupid storylines to
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: line their own pockets. Between these two, Durag Vins moves on.
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: Stupid.
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: D-Rag Vince moves on. All right. Doyle, D-Rag Vince or
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: I Quit match with Stephanie?
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. D-Rag Vince. Nice.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: D-Rag Vince for sure.
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: All right. I've been waiting for this one for a while.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: All right. The next round we have Vince McMahon. started
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: a very, very, very special club back in 2001. William
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: Regal being the first man to ever join this club.
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: This is the Kiss My Ass Club. Vince's twisted way
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: of asserting his dominance. Wrestlers who angered him, defied him,
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: or Needed to earn their jobs back, were forced to
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: kneel and kiss his ass live on TV. It was
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: intentionally humiliating design to make Vince McMahon ultimate tyrant heel.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: We had William Regal kiss his ass to beg for
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: his job back in 2001. 2001 to 2002, there was
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: a Jim Ross segment. On a 2001 episode of Raw,
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: Vince tried to induct Jim Ross Jr., Refused. Shocking, right?
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: Leading to a chaotic segment where The Undertaker turned heel
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: and shoved JR's face into Vince's ass in JR's hometown
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: of Oklahoma. In 2001, The Rock and Rikishi closed the
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: club SmackDown on episode 121. In the December 6th episode,
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: 2001 episode of SmackDown, The Rock and Rikishi humiliated Vince
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: and closed the Kiss My Ass Club giving Vince McMahon
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: a taste of his own medicine. I remember that segment
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: very well. Um, but then in 2006, the club was
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: opened once again. Uh, Shawn Michaels was forced into the club. Oh,
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: in early 2006, Vince and Shane McMahon attacked HBK and
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: forced Shawn Michaels to join the club after incapacitating him. Uh,
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: not too far behind was his son-in-law, Triple H. Uh,
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: Vince tried to induct Triple H after weeks of tension
- 1:48:13Speaker 3: involving the Spirit Squad. This was part of the DX
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: Reunion storyline. Uh, yeah, so I don't think he actually
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: got put in I think he was threatened and then
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: that's when Shawn Michaels uh eventually rejoined with Triple H
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: which to me was a great moment Triple H and
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: Shawn Michaels rejoining back together and I do recall Triple
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: H and Shawn shoving Vince's face in Big Show's ass
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: during a Hell in a Cell match. I think it was.
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: I do recall that. Yeah, it just showcased Vince, you know,
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: being petty and addictive and power hungry. It made some
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: people uncomfortable, you know. Definitely memorable moments. Jeez, I mean,
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: the Kiss My Ass Club. Tell me about it, Doyle.
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: Dre, do you want to tell me about it? You
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: got anything?
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: I remember it. And again, this is another thing to
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: fall under the stupid storylines of Vince McMahon.
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: Uh-huh. Yeah.
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: Just that.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: I don't really have much more to offer other than that.
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: It was a dumbass storyline that happened back then. One
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: of the many dumb egotistical storylines from Vince McMahon.
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm glad it fucking ended when it did. Doyle,
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: we lost you for a second. Welcome back.
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: Yeah, a little glitch. Glitch in the Matrix.
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: Sorry about that.
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: Where were we at?
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: Kiss My Ass Club?
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: Kiss My Ass Club, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember that.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: This one's a little different because it's not the family.
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: And I feel like even though you still have to...
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: You know what's going to happen before you go out there.
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: You agree to it.
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: I feel like there's more pressure from some people that
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: may not have wanted to participate in this.
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: That if they did not participate in it, there may
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: be repercussions. So this one's a little... A little worse
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: than some of the family ones, I think.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: What was the other one? He has done the other one, yeah.
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: I have done the other one.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: Yeah, so the other storyline we're going to put here
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: is this storyline started in April of 2006. This involved
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: Vince McMahon feuding with Shawn Michaels. It accumulated to a
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: tag team match, Backlash, in 2006, where Vince and Shane
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: versus Shawn Michaels and God. Yeah, after Shawn Michaels defeated
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: Vince in a brutal no-holds-barred match at WrestleMania 22, which
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: was a good match, Vince became obsessed with humiliating HBK.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: He decided to attack Shawn Michaels' Christian faith, escalating the
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: feud into pure absurdity. Vince McMahon claiming he was greater
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: than God, mocking religion, and even creating his own parody
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: faith called McMahonism. He inserted himself into religious imaginary imagery,
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: bragged about his commandments, and insisted he could outperform God
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: in everything. This led to Vince announcing a tag match,
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: Vince and Shane McMahon versus Shawn Michaels and God. back
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: last April 2006. When God made his entrance, Vince McMahon
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: represented him as a spotlight moving down the ramp. Vince
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: even told the referee to check God for foreign objects.
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: During the match, Vince grabbed the microphone and declared, God
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: has left the building, turning the match into a de
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: facto handicap beatdown. The Spirit Squad later interfered, turning it
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: into a seven-on-one assault on Michaels. Vince and Shane ultimately won.
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: No shit. Yeah, Wiley considered one of WWE's most ridiculous
- 1:52:40Speaker 3: angles ever. Vince openly mocked religion with this one. He
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: shocked fans and media. Shawn Michaels, with his devoted faith,
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: surprisingly agreed to do this storyline. It did push Vince
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: McMahon's villain character to extreme measures. Doyle, what do you
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: remember about God wrestling in WWE.
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: I remember thinking this was fucking hilarious because, uh, yeah,
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: I'm a lifelong atheist. I thought I, anything that wants
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: to make fun of organized religion is a okay with me.
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: Uh, yeah, I thought this was hilarious.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Uh, and I'm glad it's up against, uh, the kiss
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: my ass club so I can move safely, move that along.
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: Uh, Yeah, I don't think this is bad at all.
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: I thought this was hilarious. This is the one time
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: where Vince's humor, I thought, actually landed.
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: It didn't happen very often.
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: Dre.
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: I was definitely checked out of wrestling at this point,
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: so I have no recollection of this.
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: Man, did you miss out with him wrestling with me?
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: God. Nice.
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: Alright, guys, so with that said, are we putting Kiss
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: My Ass Club to go forward or wrestling with God?
- 1:54:00Speaker 2: Kiss My Ass Club.
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: Yeah, Kiss My Ass, man.
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: Alright, we are going to kiss your ass. Alright. Oh, boy.
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: Oh, boy.
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: Vince McMahon has come up with dumber... and dumber things.
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: I can't believe some of these storylines actually pass. Do
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: you guys remember when Vince McMahon decided to fake his
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: own death in 2007? Episode of Raw, Vince McMahon walked
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: outside the arena approaching his limousine. He was depressed. He
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: opened the door As he's walking out, there's all the
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: wrestlers lined up. This is where a famous Paul London
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: was caught laughing. He got fired. He was caught laughing
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: on air when he wasn't supposed to. Fun little Easter egg.
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: If you go back and watch it, you can pinpoint
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: exactly where he ruined his career. He walks out to
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: his limo. He gets in the limo. Explodes into a
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: massive fireball. WWE ended the broadcast with the implication that
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: Vince McMahon has been killed. WWE.com ran headlines saying Vince
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: McMahon presumed dead. They posted updates about Firefights and federal
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: agents investigating. Commentators delivered somber tributes on TV. The angle
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: was designed to generate huge buzz, and it did. Mainstream
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: media covered it heavily, and fans debated whether Vince was
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: truly gone.
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: Um....
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: It was one of WWE's most shocking cliffhangers ever. It
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: blurred the lines between fiction and reality. It was abruptly
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: dropped due to a real-world event. It showed how far
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: WWE is willing to go to shock TV in 2007.
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: Just weeks later, though, Christmas while the tragedy occurred, WWE
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: immediately ended the storyline out of respect and necessity and
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: brought Vince. A lot of people believe this was Vince
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: trying to write himself off of TV. But to use
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: a fake death as a storyline, what do you guys
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: think about this? Doyle, what do you think about this?
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: I mean, people die in movies all the time, and
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: that's not real.
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: So that part didn't bother me, but I will always
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: associate that with the Benoit thing.
- 1:56:49Speaker 4: Is there they're so interlocked. Uh, and that, well, you know,
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: one of the great.
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: One, what if, uh, I think in wrestling is what
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: would have happened if, if the Benoit thing hadn't have happened, what,
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: how would this story have played out? Uh, I mean,
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: I don't think Vince could have possibly stayed dead forever.
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: I mean, I think eventually it would have been coming
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: out that it was a fake somehow, but you know, um, So, yeah,
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: Think this one's too bad in and of itself.
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: But with the attachment to Benoit, that's always the first
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: thing I think of when I think of Vince.
- 1:57:29Speaker 4: Fates' own death. Right. And then they had to cancel
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: it because of Benoit.
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: Yep, exactly. That's what I would always think of. Dre,
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: do you remember this segment at all?
- 1:57:43Speaker 2: I do remember this because this was right at the
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: tail end of my wrestling watching because of the Chris
- 1:57:49Speaker 2: Benoit incident that happened shortly thereafter. So I remember it.
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: I remember thinking it was stupid as hell then because, again,
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: you're not going to actually fucking kill Vince McMahon on
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: the air. So why the fuck are you trying to
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: make us believe this bullshit? That was pretty much my
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: thoughts on it then. I thought it was stupid as
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: hell at the time.
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: Alright talking about stupid as hell storylines mid 2007 also
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: roughly around this time Vince McMahon did a bastard son
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: storyline so not too long after that he did a
- 1:58:28Speaker 3: bastard son So August 2007, Jonathan Koch made it clear
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: to Vince McMahon that there was a woman that had
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: filed a paternity suit claiming Vince McMahon had an illegitimate
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: child somewhere on the WWE roster. This kicked off weak
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: speculation and teases of red herrings. Vince McMahon became paranoid,
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: suspicious of everyone, and the roster was repeatedly interrogated. Original
- 1:58:54Speaker 3: plans was it was supposed to be Mr. Kennedy. According
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: to reporting from SportsCenter, WWE originally planned for Mr.
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: Kennedy.
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: Yep. It's to be revealed that it's Vince McMahon's son,
- 1:59:07Speaker 3: leading to WrestleMania 24 main event storyline involving Triple H
- 1:59:12Speaker 3: and the family, and the McMahon family. However, just days
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: before the plan revealed Mr. Kennedy failed the wellness test
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: and was suspended for 30 days, WWE had to scrap
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: the entire plan immediately. Last-minute changes... Hornswoggle. With Kennedy out,
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: WWE pivoted on September 10th, 2007, Raw in Green Bay.
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: The fraternity lawyer dramatically eliminated roster members one by one
- 1:59:39Speaker 3: until only Hornswoggle remained. Vince was stunned. The crowd popped
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: and the storyline instantly shifted from serious drama to comedy. This, uh,
- 1:59:50Speaker 3: Hornswoggle later, later confirmed, uh, he found out minutes before
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: the live event, um, After Bruce Prichard confiscated his phone
- 2:00:00Speaker 3: and told him, you're the son. Yeah, the illegitimate son storyline.
- 2:00:08Speaker 3: If he's not fair-skinned, if he's not Caucasian, please leave.
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: If he's not blonde hair, please leave. The whole narrowing
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: it down to who it was. Do you remember this Doyle?
- 2:00:27Speaker 2: Oh, of course.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, like I said, this is another one
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: of those storylines where they started the who's this mystery
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: person and then couldn't get the person they wanted for
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: whatever reason and had to pivot to something else.
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: In this case, Hornfall, though. Yeah. I mean, another big
- 2:00:46Speaker 4: what if. What if Kennedy hadn't pissed dirty? Where would
- 2:00:52Speaker 4: this storyline have gone? Ultimately, I think it was destined
- 2:00:55Speaker 4: to be terrible because It's stupid. Yeah. It's stupid.
- 2:01:04Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:01:05Speaker 4: Dre.
- 2:01:09Speaker 2: I remember of this storyline, but I'm pretty sure I
- 2:01:12Speaker 2: was not watching at the time, so I don't have
- 2:01:15Speaker 2: much to offer on this one itself. Comparing the two,
- 2:01:20Speaker 2: one was genuinely controversial, one was just a storyline that
- 2:01:24Speaker 2: didn't work out.
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:01:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Not much comparison between the two.
- 2:01:30Speaker 3: Which one should we have go for the fake in
- 2:01:32Speaker 3: his death or the bastard son? Yeah.
- 2:01:37Speaker 4: The fake in the death.
- 2:01:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:01:41Speaker 3: I think that was way more shocking and interesting. Uh,
- 2:01:47Speaker 3: all right. The last one. And then we can blow
- 2:01:50Speaker 3: through the next few rounds. Uh, This one is another
- 2:01:54Speaker 3: broad stroke, very much like the WCW storyline, but this
- 2:01:57Speaker 3: one is another Vince McMahon versus a family member. The
- 2:02:03Speaker 3: consistent storyline with Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon. His on-screen
- 2:02:07Speaker 3: rivalry is one of WWE's longest father-son sagas. Their clashes
- 2:02:12Speaker 3: happened across multiple eras, usually when Shane defied Vince's authority
- 2:02:19Speaker 3: or tried to take control of WWE away from him.
- 2:02:22Speaker 3: There's a couple chapters. We had the WCW purchase and
- 2:02:25Speaker 3: invasion in 2001. We had WrestleMania 17, Shane versus Vince.
- 2:02:35Speaker 3: That was a street fight. That's when Linda stood up
- 2:02:39Speaker 3: from her wheelchair, which we talked about earlier. McMahonism in
- 2:02:43Speaker 3: the DX view. We spoke about that earlier with the
- 2:02:47Speaker 3: religion of McMahonism. Uh, that's when he was more of
- 2:02:51Speaker 3: an enforcer. Um, and real life tension on screen 2000
- 2:02:57Speaker 3: to 2010, just with the purchase of ECW. And, uh, yeah,
- 2:03:04Speaker 3: I mean, I could go on and on, uh, about this.
- 2:03:09Speaker 3: What do you, uh, what do you guys, I could
- 2:03:12Speaker 3: go on and on, but matches with Shane, you know, uh, Doyle,
- 2:03:20Speaker 3: what do you want to squeeze in here? Hmm. It's... Basically,
- 2:03:32Speaker 3: as a whole, Vince having feuds with Shane, I mean,
- 2:03:36Speaker 3: involving his son in just so many storylines, you know?
- 2:03:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean.
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: It just seems.
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: Like two willing participants you know that knew what they
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: were doing and you know it doesn't this one that
- 2:03:52Speaker 1: doesn't scream evil or bad or whatever to me right
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: it seems like that was the story yeah a ton
- 2:03:59Speaker 1: of money doing it.
- 2:04:00Speaker 3: Right right uh yeah uh drag it's the same right.
- 2:04:08Speaker 2: Pretty much. I mean, some of these matches, some of
- 2:04:10Speaker 2: them were good matches. You wind up getting out of it.
- 2:04:13Speaker 2: Some of it was some stupid shit, but I don't
- 2:04:16Speaker 2: see it as a negative thing. There's pretty much if
- 2:04:20Speaker 2: it's a family owned business with a product, the family
- 2:04:24Speaker 2: is going to be part of the product. Right.
- 2:04:26Speaker 3: There's Vince playing the bad guy or bringing his son
- 2:04:30Speaker 3: into being a bad guy with him.
- 2:04:34Speaker 4: Last one.
- 2:04:35Speaker 2: Last one.
- 2:04:35Speaker 3: We have a man had his head shaved. Live in
- 2:04:38Speaker 3: the ring, after his representative, Umaga, lost to Bobby Lashley,
- 2:04:44Speaker 3: who represented Donald Trump, the stipulation was simple. The losing
- 2:04:48Speaker 3: billionaire gets his head shaved. So he brought, you know,
- 2:04:53Speaker 3: the current president of the United States, the Hall of Famer,
- 2:04:56Speaker 3: Donald Trump. It was involved in this. You know, this
- 2:05:02Speaker 3: led to Vince, the do-rag era Vince.
- 2:05:06Speaker 4: So.
- 2:05:08Speaker 3: It's really these two storylines, which was worse, right? It
- 2:05:12Speaker 3: matches with, you know, I would say Shane, the things
- 2:05:17Speaker 3: he did to Shane. I mean, the things he did
- 2:05:19Speaker 3: to his own son over, you know, what he did.
- 2:05:27Speaker 3: Evil villain-wise, it was just the Battle of the Billionaires.
- 2:05:29Speaker 3: I don't really think it was too evil. It was
- 2:05:32Speaker 3: just shaving of the head.
- 2:05:38Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:05:38Speaker 3: What do you guys think?
- 2:05:41Speaker 4: Hmm. This is a tough one.
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: I guess I'm going to go with the Battle of
- 2:05:49Speaker 1: the Billionaires because billionaires are bad.
- 2:05:52Speaker 3: All right. I think I know why, but yes, we'll
- 2:05:58Speaker 3: go with that then. All right. Let's blow through this
- 2:06:03Speaker 3: next round here. This will be a lot easier since
- 2:06:05Speaker 3: we discussed all these. We got the Montreal Screwjob versus
- 2:06:08Speaker 3: the Bark Like a Dog segment. What's this going first?
- 2:06:11Speaker 2: Montreal Screwjob.
- 2:06:13Speaker 3: Montreal Screwjob. Doyle?
- 2:06:16Speaker 4: Oh, I would have said Bark Like a Dog.
- 2:06:19Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 2:06:20Speaker 3: I'm going to say the Montreal Screwjob because that was
- 2:06:27Speaker 3: very real. N-Word Vince versus It's Me, Austin.
- 2:06:34Speaker 4: Oh.
- 2:06:35Speaker 3: N-Word.
- 2:06:36Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:06:36Speaker 3: All right. Do Rag Vince versus the Kiss My Ass Club.
- 2:06:46Speaker 2: Do Rag Vince. Doyle?
- 2:06:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 2:06:52Speaker 2: Yep, Do Rag Vince.
- 2:06:54Speaker 3: Faked his own death or getting his head shaved by
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: a billionaire?
- 2:06:59Speaker 2: Fake death.
- 2:07:00Speaker 3: Fake death.
- 2:07:00Speaker 4: Faked his own death.
- 2:07:02Speaker 3: All right. Oh, we're down to the finals. Montreal Screwjob
- 2:07:05Speaker 3: or N-Word Vince?
- 2:07:11Speaker 2: Personal reasons, I'll go N-Word Vince.
- 2:07:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll agree with you.
- 2:07:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:07:19Speaker 4: It's going to be N-Word Vince versus Durag Vince.
- 2:07:22Speaker 3: Oh, my God. This is like a King of the
- 2:07:24Speaker 3: Ring tournament where we knew where this was going to go.
- 2:07:26Speaker 3: Durag Vince or fake your own death? I guess we're
- 2:07:33Speaker 3: going do-rag Vince, right?
- 2:07:34Speaker 4: Yeah, do-rag Vince.
- 2:07:35Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:07:35Speaker 4: All right.
- 2:07:36Speaker 3: Down to the finals, fellas. N-word Vince. Vince using the
- 2:07:40Speaker 3: N-word or do-rag Vince. Which was more offensive?
- 2:07:46Speaker 2: Well, let's see. One was a specific incident within the other.
- 2:07:50Speaker 2: So given that this specific incident was probably the highlight
- 2:07:56Speaker 2: and the worst part of it, clearly N-word Vince should
- 2:07:59Speaker 2: go out.
- 2:08:00Speaker 3: Win. But here's the thing I'm going to say, Dre,
- 2:08:05Speaker 3: is the N-word was a one-time thing. The do-rag was
- 2:08:08Speaker 3: a consecutive thing for weeks. It was an idea that
- 2:08:13Speaker 3: he decided it was a good idea to keep doing
- 2:08:16Speaker 3: the consistency. Yeah.
- 2:08:19Speaker 2: Yeah. But one was stupid, one was bad.
- 2:08:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:08:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:08:27Speaker 3: I had an epiphany!
- 2:08:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:08:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh my god. Alright, well, ladies and gentlemen, the
- 2:08:36Speaker 3: most offensive thing Vince McMahon has done on TV was
- 2:08:42Speaker 3: saying the N-word. I feel like we could have not
- 2:08:48Speaker 3: done the bracket and kind of figured that out ourselves,
- 2:08:51Speaker 3: but it was fun. It was fun to relive all
- 2:08:52Speaker 3: these terrible moments.
- 2:08:55Speaker 2: Uh, I feel like I called that months ago.
- 2:08:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:08:58Speaker 3: It was very, when I was doing it, I was
- 2:09:00Speaker 3: laughing because some of these things were ridiculous, but I
- 2:09:02Speaker 3: was like, okay, well I kind of know where this
- 2:09:05Speaker 3: is going to go. This is kind of, I guess
- 2:09:06Speaker 3: how they do the king of the ring tournament. We're like,
- 2:09:09Speaker 3: we know Oba's going to win. Right. But it'd be
- 2:09:11Speaker 3: funny to throw, you know, let's throw these guys in here,
- 2:09:15Speaker 3: you know? So that's how it kind of felt. Uh, Damn,
- 2:09:19Speaker 3: that's crazy. So I got to think of another bracket.
- 2:09:22Speaker 3: This was a test bracket. Maybe it'll be an episode
- 2:09:26Speaker 3: of its own. But yeah, if you guys have another
- 2:09:30Speaker 3: bracket you want us to do, let us know. We'll
- 2:09:33Speaker 3: put something aside. Dre, do you want to plug anything?
- 2:09:39Speaker 2: Instagram.com slash podcast championship wrestling as always.
- 2:09:43Speaker 3: Yeah. Doyle, want to plug anything?
- 2:09:47Speaker 4: Yeah, just check out the Facebook and say hi on Discord.
- 2:09:54Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely. And check out PCW. We're on everywhere. We're
- 2:09:59Speaker 3: just everywhere. Yeah, this is fun. This is fun. We'll
- 2:10:04Speaker 3: get back to you guys at the post show. Let's
- 2:10:08Speaker 3: get the hell out of here.
- 2:10:12Speaker 4: Bye.
