Transcript
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another great episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I am Mickey, I'm your host, and joining me today is Bethany, our my co-host.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And today we want to just start by talking to you about a little bit about what we do and the reason why Truth Be Told is so important.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Bethany and I are both coaches, and for myself, I'm a Christian breakthrough coach.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: I help people that get strong or get stuck in bondage through strongholds.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: And there are several different types of strongholds that seem to be holding people back from their God-given purpose.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And I help people to identify those areas in their life and to break free for them so that they can start walking out in their purpose.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And Bethany also has a great program that she offers.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to have her come on today and tell a little bit about her program before we get started into the Word today.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, welcome in today.
- 0:56SPEAKER_04: Thank you, Greg, to be here.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: Yes, I also have a coaching program called Anchored in Hope.
- 1:05SPEAKER_04: And it helps people be set free from the grip of emotional trauma.
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: Because as an emotional trauma coach, um, that's what I specialize in.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: And um so people can live free from that grip of emotional trauma, and just wondering, well, what's the point of life?
- 1:44SPEAKER_04: And so, yes, um my program is a 12-week program, and um starting with the foundation that we all have the same common enemy, and that is Satan, and um, without that understanding, I believe that we would be tempted to get the wrong view of God, and so um that's just a short, concise um summary of my program.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Um so that's awesome.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Um I think it's great that um um you definitely jump in there and we we like to help people break free from the the trauma.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: A lot of people go through a lot of traumatic experiences.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And um, for myself, what I when I help people with breaking free from strongholds, it's a little different than trauma, obviously.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Um a lot of the strongholds that I deal with are abandonment and rejection, self-identity, fear, abuse is one of them, and um depression and anxiety.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And I believe that the biggest stronghold that we face in our daily lives is fear.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And I believe that fear also comes from the enemy.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: So I love that you start right off the bat with identifying who the enemy is and um tackling that head on.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I like to start um in a little different, different realm when I when I do my coaching, I like to bring people to um get to know who they are, what what God um really did in designing them, what their identity is.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And it's important to know who they are because sometimes we walk around and we think we know who we are, but we just don't know.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Um but when we find ourselves in Christ, we we can break those strongholds, we can get past the trauma, you know.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: We when we identify things in our life that hold us back from where God wants us to be.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I believe one of God's characteristics are to um not only to serve, but he also gave us um an assignment, um, a purpose.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: And he wants us to fulfill that assignment.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: And he designed us and equipped us to do it, but along the way, we've had trials and tribulations that have held us back.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And so as a coach, I think it's important that um breaking free from those those um those trials and tribulations that just seem to keep you in the pit, basically.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I believe that um coaching is really good.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: And I love that there's a lot of different opportunities out there.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: In my my program, I offer a 90-day program, um, which again, we start with you know, identity, um, and we talk about you know which stronghold you want to conquer.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: And then I I like to talk about um not only you know your self-identity and affirmations are really good as well, but I want to teach you how to um understand that your identity, your identity holds so much power over who you are as a person that it literally can transform and change your life.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: And that's what coaching needs to do, and it what what it should do is make a transformation in your life.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: And I've seen a lot of people break free from that.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: And so I'm excited about that.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: And I wanted our listeners to know what it is that we actually do besides come on here and share the truth and the and the word and the love of Jesus Christ.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: But it also starts with that foundation, the foundation of the truth.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: And that's what we like to do.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: And so um, to all of our listeners, I'm I'm glad that you're all here.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: And um, I did want to just mention that um Bethany and our Bethany and I are going to be working on um a few different programs.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Um, like like she said, she has a 12-week program.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: I have a 90-day program, which is also 12 weeks, but I also have um a power hour program and a power hour plus program, which is just um a quick um refresher.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: So let's say you've already received coaching or you've already started to overcome some of those hurdles that hold you back, but you just you're just feeling stagnant.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: That's what the power hour plus does, and the power hour um itself does.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: It just gives you a little bit of motivation to help you to bring back what you've forgotten that God has already taught you or given you.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: So I want to bring that to the light as well.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: And um as we get going, we will um share, you know, in other episodes other things that we also offer within our coaching programs.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: But for today, we are going to be talking about a I don't want to say a sore or sensitive topic, but I don't want people or any of you listeners that are listening, I don't want anyone to think that we are trying to step on anyone's toes.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Um, although I don't know about you, Bethany, but when I go to church, sometimes I need my toes to be stepped on because I need I need myself to be put back in check and I need to be realigned with um what God really wants me to do.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I think when we go to church, um, we go for the worship, we go for the fun, we go for the fellowship, and that's all that's there's nothing wrong with enjoying any of that because that's part of church.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: But it's more important for me that the Holy Spirit meets me where I'm at.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: And if I go to church and and I'm not getting, I'm not getting talked to, and there's times I'm sitting in church and I'm like, I think that pastor's speaking straight to me.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Like, has he been following me around all week?
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Because he's he's like speaking right to me.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Like, how did he know all this?
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: That's the kind of preaching that I love.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And and so I think it's important that we like to talk about subjects like we just finished a long series on prayer, and we'll probably talk about prayer again because prayer is really important.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, we'll pray before we start this this episode in um the scripture that we're gonna share.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: But um a lot of times we want to hear the good, the good stuff, the feel-good stuff, but we won't we don't want to talk about um some of the things that also are important.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: And um, so our topic of um discussion is going to be the importance of of repentance.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And I know for myself, a lot of people don't even like the word repentance.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: They feel like you're, you know, people are being told, oh, you have to do this, you have to do this.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: And honestly, it is a requirement.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: It's a requirement.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: But you can look at it in two different ways.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: You can look at it as, okay, it's just a requirement, just like prayer is a requirement, just like getting up and going to church is a requirement, just like putting on your, you know, dressing modestly is a requirement.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of requirements in the Bible.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: As Christians, we want to uphold um um and be obedient to what Jesus wants us to be.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: If we want to be like Jesus, then we need to be like Jesus.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: So I'm glad that we're gonna talk about this subject.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to see where it goes.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: This is going to be a two-part subject, so today will be the first part.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: And Bethany, do you want to start us off in prayer?
- 8:47SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 8:48unknown: Okay.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: Let's pray.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: Dear Lord, I thank you once again for meeting with us now as we take on this topic and um not just this episode, but in future episodes as we talk about repentance, and um that those who listen to these um episodes will understand the importance of repentance, but also understand your grace and your love.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: And so we thank you for this time.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: We thank you for speaking through myself and Mickey, and um we give it to you, Lord, and thank you for what you will do to it in Jesus' name, amen.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: So I'm excited to um to to start looking up this scripture today and um just kind of let you know the Holy Spirit lead us today where where he wants us to go.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: And um again, for all of our listeners, um, we just want to encourage you to not be intimidated.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Because I used to remember being intimidated by the word repentance.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know about you, Bethany, but it used to intimidate me a little bit.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: I used to feel like um, I don't let me give you an example.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Have you ever felt like you had to pray over and over and over and over again for the same sin that you did?
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Like it you like you think it's not forgivable.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: So I think it's great that we're gonna talk about this because we're gonna show you that some of that's not even necessary.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we we bring self-destruction on ourselves, just just with repentance.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: So this is gonna be a great episode.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 10:51SPEAKER_04: Um, and so one of the things that the Lord has been really laying on my heart for quite a while now is helping people understand that the importance of everything that God does, but do they have questions?
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: Do people have questions of well why you know why um why do I need to repent?
- 11:42SPEAKER_04: Or you know, why do I you list all these things about God and people are like, but why?
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: And if there's no answer to that, but why?
- 11:59SPEAKER_04: Um and so I just want to start out by saying let's answer why like I say I'm greatly sensing that there are so many people who listen to sermons or listen to other things in their butt, they're thinking, but why, but why?
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: And so I want to start off this episode with going back to the beginning, like all the way back, right after within the creation week, when God created his angels.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: Um, I'm not I don't know if we can be as that on what day he created his angels, but that's not as important as he actually did it.
- 13:30SPEAKER_04: And one of those angels he created was Lucifer, and again, we don't know, or maybe I should say at least I don't know the exact timing of um events, but somewhere between when God created Lucifer and Genesis three Lucifer rebuilt, and the first verse I want verses I want to share are from Isaiah chapter fourteen.
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: And as we go along here, you will see how these verses tie into um our topic of the importance of repentance, and so let's first notice Isaiah 14, verses 12 to 14.
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: Verse 12, how art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the mooning, how art thou got down to the ground, which didest weaken the nations.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: Verse 13.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: For thou hast said in thy heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north, and then verse fourteen.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds.
- 15:50SPEAKER_04: I will be like the most high.
- 16:57SPEAKER_04: That first phrase for thou hast said in thine heart.
- 17:08SPEAKER_04: Um I don't want to spend a lot of time on this, but I think this is something we really need to focus on.
- 17:25SPEAKER_04: Lucifer said these things in his heart.
- 17:38SPEAKER_04: Now are we getting somewhat of an understanding of how important our thoughts are and how important what we internally say?
- 17:59SPEAKER_04: Again, I don't want to get off on that because I could spend hours on that.
- 18:07SPEAKER_04: But that to me that should be an eye-opener for us.
- 18:15SPEAKER_04: And so, Mickey, do you have any initial thoughts just on that?
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: I do actually, because when we think about angels and we think about heaven, we need to remember that it's a supernatural.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: It's not in the fleshly realm, it's not in the earthly realm, it's a supernatural realm.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: So we're operating in the spirit realm, we're not operating in our our bodies and and in our minds.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: So that's why the words had to come from his heart, because a heart is part of your spirit.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: So um that is that's what connects you to your spirit, is your heart.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: And and honestly, when we speak, when we speak, we we speak from our hearts, whether it's anger, happiness, joy, sadness, um, whatever it is.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: The truth of the matter is everything that we speak comes from our heart.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: And um, sometimes we have a disconnect between our heart and our mind, and you know whatnot, we we say stupid stuff.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: But Lucifer um was an angel, and so he's operating in the spiritual realm, and God knows this.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: He's already a spiritual being.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: He's not an earthly being.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: He becomes earthly when God casts him down.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: And even at that, he's still a spiritual demon because he's already gone through, or or he didn't even have to go through the the fleshly realm of what we go through.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: He's operating in a spiritual natural or the spiritual natural realm, supernatural realm is what I'm trying to say.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: Um, not the human fleshly realm.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: And that's why it has to be known and has to be made known that that's why he's operated from the heart.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: Not doesn't say, oh, I spoke with my mouth, or I spoke with my mind, or I spoke with whatever, or my thoughts.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: It's but he spoke with his actual heart, because that's part of your soul.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to emphasize that because um it's important that we understand the the difference between the fleshly realm and the spiritual realm, you know, and and make that known.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: So when we're talking about even though Lucifer has been cast down to earth and has been given reign over the earth, um, he's still operating in a spiritual realm.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: Because a lot of people think, oh, if he's just roaming around the earth, well, how is it possible he's roaming around the earth for 2,000 years if he's not spiritual in the spiritual realm?
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: So that's I just wanted to emphasize that so so people have an understanding of where that's coming from, if that makes sense.
- 20:37SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 20:38unknown: Yeah.
- 20:39SPEAKER_04: Perfect sense.
- 20:40SPEAKER_04: Um and so Lucifer chose to rebel, and because of that choice, he became Satan.
- 21:02SPEAKER_04: Let that sink in.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: God did not create evil.
- 21:18SPEAKER_04: God did not create anything negative.
- 21:26SPEAKER_04: Lucifer chose to rebel.
- 21:35SPEAKER_04: Now let's go to Genesis chapter three, and verses one to five tell us about a serpent who was embodied by Satan.
- 22:01SPEAKER_04: And you know, even talking about that is worthy of another episode just to help us understand that um things before Genesis three were different than they are now.
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: But again, I will keep that for another episode and just stay on track here.
- 22:42SPEAKER_04: And so let's look at starting in verse six, Genesis three and verse six.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for fruit, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat verse seven.
- 23:24SPEAKER_04: And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fake leaves together and made themselves aprons, verse eight.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord, from the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
- 24:06SPEAKER_04: Verse nine.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: And the Lord God called unto Adam and said unto him, Where art thou?
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: Verse ten.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: Verse eleven and he said that is God talking to Adam Who told thee that thou was naked?
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: Back in Genesis two, verses fifteen through seventeen, I believe, it tells us about God putting Adam in the garden to dress and keep it.
- 25:27SPEAKER_04: So under little side note here, understand that work is not a result of sin.
- 25:42SPEAKER_04: Work came before sin.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: So um, but um so we see there in Genesis two, fifteen through seventeen, how God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and then in Genesis three, the fruit, or I should say, the tree that was eaten of was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and again, God commanded Adam to not eat of that tree, and yet he did, and so sin came about through that, and so as we see then our need for repentance, and again, it's as we've said even in this episode, um, how we've had thoughts of you know what repentance was like things like that.
- 27:24SPEAKER_04: We need to understand why.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: Why is there a need for repentance?
- 27:33SPEAKER_04: And it's because Adam disobeyed now.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: There may be some listening to this, and they may say, well, no, why why are we responsible?
- 28:07SPEAKER_04: Why why is it that sin passed on us to?
- 28:14SPEAKER_04: We're gonna look at a verse that tells us why.
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: But before we continue, um, Mickey, do you have any thoughts on this?
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: I do actually.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: So again, I just want to emphasize this because I know a lot of people may not understand.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: So when Lucifer is cast down to the earth, and then Adam and Eve were formed, Adam and Eve were also spiritual beings.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: They were immortal at that time.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: So I want to point out a couple things to you here.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: Um it says very clearly that um you shall not eat of, neither shall ye touch it, lest you should die.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Now, Adam or Eve took the apple.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: She didn't die immediately, right?
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: She took the apple to her husband.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, that that that ate.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: And um, neither one of them died right then and there, right?
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing they went from being mortal or immortal to mortal at that point.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: So now death is on them.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: So that sin actually brought the death that we all have to live through.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: So we don't get to live years and years and years and years and years like forever, like we could have on earth with a beautiful garden and beautiful flowers and just have children and and have a wonderful life.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: And and they actually even were able to communicate and speak with the animals.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: They get to talk to each other until this sin happened.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, this sin did some great damage for all mankind.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is where this is where it all started.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: And it started with Lucifer.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: And literally, but here's the one thing I wanted you to notice is when Eve first took the bite of the apple, their eyes weren't open until Adam took the bite of the apple.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Then their eyes were opened.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: Why was that?
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: Because Adam was in charge over the garden.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: Adam was in charge over Eve.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: So Adam was in charge over the animals, Eve, and the garden.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: He was to protect it, he was to take care of it.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: And Eve was was, you know, misled by the enemy, you know, which he knew, the enemy knew that Eve was the weaker vessel, honestly.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: And I know people do not like it when we say women are the weaker vessel, but we came from Adam's rib.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: We didn't come from the dirt that God made Adam from.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: We didn't come from the actual earth, we came from the part of the man.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: So we need to recognize that as well.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Um that's a whole nother subject for later.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: We can break all of that down.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: We could spend a month on that because there's a lot of debate and argument about that.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: But their eyes were not open until Adam took the bite.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: But Eve had already touched the touched the fruit, bit the fruit, took the fruit to her husband, had him take the bite, and then their eyes were opened.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: But it says right in the very beginning, do not eat or touch the fruit, or you will die.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Well, how come they didn't die?
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: Immediately, what opened their eyes was the fact that the sin took them from being immortal to now mortal.
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: Death was now upon them.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: And that in itself is another sin.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: So to, you know, that's why I'm trying to think of the verse, Bethany, help me out here.
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: I know you probably know it.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: To live is to to gainer, and to die is to live, or I know I'm saying it wrong.
- 32:01SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm talking about?
- 32:03SPEAKER_04: Yes, I'm I cannot remember.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: It comes from this, but it comes from this.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: This is where it comes from.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: This is what it means.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: Do you see where I'm kind of correlating it together?
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: So I just kind of want you guys to see the pattern of what this one act of sin did that Lucifer did.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: The very first act.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, many, many follow, by the way.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Many follow, but this one simple act, which is why we end up having to have repentance.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: So I I don't want to flip the subject, but but it's a broad subject to talk about.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: We could break it down in like 15 different ways.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Um, but let's stay focused on the repentance part of the topic where evil is brought forth, and um Bethany's gonna lead us into why there's the importance of repentance, and I'll let her take up take it from here.
- 32:56SPEAKER_04: Yes, that is so powerful, and again, I I truly believe that there's so many people with the question of why, and I I do believe we are answering that with um this episode because you know, like I say, it it's great to understand everything that God does for us in that.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: But when we have those questions that are left unanswered, then at least I strongly believe that we get a misunderstanding of God and we we wrestle then with um questions that Satan wants us to focus on.
- 34:18SPEAKER_04: And so I so repentance.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: It's not it's not about repeating, you know, telling God you're sorry over and over and over again.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: It's about turning, it's about you know, you were going this way, but you're repenting and you're now going the opposite way.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: And um one other thing I wanted to jump in there real quick about is in this scripture, because I know we're gonna we're gonna go to another passage, but um, in this scripture I want to I want to point out what's happening.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: So instead of repenting, they hid from God and they blamed others.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Adam blamed Eve and implicit inflicted God, and Eve blamed the serpent.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: They didn't even take ownership for what they did.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: So true repentance requires owning your own sin rather than shifting the blame to somebody else.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: And in this passage, you see them scrambling, they're like, oh no, it's her fault, oh it's his fault, and they're like, they did it, you know?
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: And they're literally shifting blame to take because they're so ashamed and they don't want God to see them in their shame that they're blaming somebody else for it.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: Another reason why repentance is so important, and so I wanted to just show you guys that that's literally what they did.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: They blamed, you know, each other and and um the enemy and the serpent for what they did instead of going, yep, I ate the apple.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: You know, they they didn't say that.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: So go ahead and go ahead, Bethany.
- 36:24SPEAKER_04: That that's a powerful point to bring out.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Um, and let me just say, you know, that that is one of Satan's tactics.
- 36:40SPEAKER_04: He loves to influence us to do the blame game, and instead of taking responsibility on ourselves and owning up to our own sins, and um yes, we we do have one more verse for this episode to cover, but we will be continuing um on repentance in um a few more episodes here, but now let's go to Romans chapter five and verse twelve, and this tells us why.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: Why is importance the importance of repentance for us?
- 38:00SPEAKER_04: You know, why why and this verse answers that so Romans five and verse twelve says, Wherefore, as by one man, sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned, and so that verse is just as important as any other verse in the Bible, all scripture is given by inspiration of God, that's right, and it's profitable, proof, yeah, instruction.
- 38:57SPEAKER_04: So as we continue on now in this series, when we were talking about repentance, I trust that this first episode has really encouraged you that why repentance is needed, and again it's not because you know it just as with prayer, repentance has to be sincere, you have to sincerely repent, do a shift and God does know, I believe, when we aren't repentant as we should be.
- 40:06SPEAKER_04: And so yes, I am looking forward to these episodes on repentance and making I will share the truth and hopefully help our listeners understand not just from God's perspective, you know, not just what God can do and all that, but truly getting back to answering the question of why.
- 40:59SPEAKER_04: Because, like I've said in this episode, I I do strongly feel that there are so many people, either internally or maybe even verbally, who you know they listen to a sermon or they listen to another teaching based on the Bible, but they still have the question, well, why and repentance is just one topic where we can go back all the way to the beginning and share with people that Lucifer chose to rebel, and it's because of that his choice that he became Satan and was banished from heaven and Genesis three, and so yeah, I trust that people will understand the truth, will study for yourselves because there are many there are so many people out there who are claiming to teach and preach the truth of God's word, and yet we are all responsible for studying for ourselves.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: So, McGee, do you have any final thoughts?
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Well, I wanted to touch base back on the Romans 5.12, because when we started talking about Satan being an angel cast down, now he's Lucifer.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: I want you guys to understand, because when it says sin entered the world through one man, I don't want you guys to be miscued by this by thinking, well, I thought sin entered the world through through Lucifer.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: Lucifer is not a man, he's an angel, he's supernatural, he's in the spirit realm.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: Need you He came as a snake, so that again he's not a man, that's Adam.
- 44:04SPEAKER_00: Adam, but then you're gonna say, Well, Eve ate the apple first.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Adam was in charge of the garden.
- 44:10SPEAKER_00: God put Adam in charge.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: God put Adam in charge of Eve.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: God put Adam in charge of naming all of the animals.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: Um there is a there's an operation of order.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: That's why the blame gets put on man.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: Not that the woman didn't sin too.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: The woman did sin too.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: Um you could say you it was through, you know, everyone talks about, oh, Adam and Eve, Adam and Eve, Adam and Eve.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: You know, yes, it was both of them, but it started with the one man.
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: Like I said, their eyes were not opened, and they didn't know what was going on until Adam took the bite.
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: She had touched the apple, she ate the apple, she gave the bite to her to Adam, and then they realized they'd done something wrong.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: It wasn't when she did it, it was when he did it that brought everything to the point.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: So when it says, and that's why it talks about the death, there's another scripture that I was looking up in Bethany.
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: You might might be able to help me on this one, but it's in Romans.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: Um it says, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 45:12SPEAKER_00: Um, when what this does is when we are born, we are actually born into this sin.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: We are born a sinner.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: It's impossible to be born without sin.
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: There is no perfection in this.
- 45:28SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: And I've actually heard people say, well, why do we have to repent for other people's sins?
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: You don't.
- 45:36SPEAKER_00: God's not asking you to repent for somebody else.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: Like Adam and Eve, they went in the garden and they started pointing fingers at each other because they weren't taking ownership for what they did.
- 45:46SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: Repentance is owning up for what you do.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: And it's important because we can see how how this can this can create a lot of travesty and it can really blow up in your face, honestly.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: If we're not owning up to what we're doing.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: And it's really hard.
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it can be really hard.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: It's always easier to look at the sin on somebody else than it is to look at your own.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: Like the other scripture says, you know, look at the look at the sliver in there, or look at the uh pull the beam out of your eyes before looking at the sliver in somebody else's.
- 46:22SPEAKER_00: Another, another reference that we'll get into.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: But it's important that we understand that the repentance is tied to the sin.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: And the repentance, as you're gonna learn as we get through, um, is gonna be there's there repentance is a good thing.
- 46:39SPEAKER_00: It's actually a really, really good thing.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: And I don't want to do the spoiler alert because we're gonna do that in the next message.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: I really, for those of you that know, no.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: But those of you that don't, you know, some people think look at repentance as it's so harsh and it's hard.
- 46:52SPEAKER_00: No, there's so much joy and rejoicing in repentance, there's freedom in it.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: Let's break the stronghold of thinking that repentance is a bad thing.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: It's not, it's so good, it's healthy, it's vitalizing, it's bringing new life.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: So we want to teach on the subject.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: We're not trying to be like, oh, you know, this is so bad.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: It is bad.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: It's horrible.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: What's happen what happened is horrible.
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: We can't change what's happened.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: But we can we can change what we do, that that what we make happen, and we can do it through the repentance because we are sinners and we have the sin on us, and it's in our human fleshly neighbor natures that we have it, not in our supernatural nature.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: Because when Adam and Eve were in the supernatural, when they were immortal, they had no sin on them.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: And no sin.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: Tell Lucifer, you know, he threw that snare, and Adam, you know, you know, well, he had a little help.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: He had Lucifer had, I mean, Adam had Lucifer and Eve that kind of was like, ooh, you know, that kind of you know played a little trickery on him.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: But um I think that we need to understand that the sin that we're dealing with is um always been there.
- 48:09SPEAKER_00: It's always been there.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: And I've heard people say, Well, I don't, I haven't sinned.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: I you you have.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: You you have.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: And I know people don't want to hear that.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: We are all sinners.
- 48:23SPEAKER_00: And I've had people like argue that statement.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: How are we all sinners if I'm not sinning?
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: Well, you are.
- 48:30SPEAKER_00: You you are born into sin.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: You may not be sinning right this very, very second, this very, very moment, but we all have sinned.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: Period.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: We've done something that goes against the word of God and who got it.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: So anyway, we're gonna get into that.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: I we could go on and on to this subject because there is a lot, there is a lot to dissect with this.
- 48:52SPEAKER_00: And um, Bethany, I think you're right.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: It, you know, this this might be more than a two-part series, actually, because it's pretty deep.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: And um it's really good.
- 49:02SPEAKER_00: So we want to um, you know, take you guys along with us because I love talking about it.
- 49:08SPEAKER_00: I love thinking about the whole operation of Genesis.
- 49:12SPEAKER_00: And again, I know we were talking about we were talking about in Isaiah and you know, Genesis.
- 49:20SPEAKER_00: Um, a lot of Bibles are not written in chronological order, by the way, just to let you all know.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: Because there's a lot of different books between Genesis and Isaiah.
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: And I don't want people to get confused about that, but we we we will use that as another episode to discuss later on about the differences in chronological order, um, opposed to how the Bible is actually laid out for us.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Um, we can dive into that later.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: But this topic of repentance, it's gonna be so good.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: You guys are gonna get so much from it that um I I want to see you guys rejoicing in repentance.
- 49:53SPEAKER_00: I want to see you rejoicing in that redemption, just knowing what it is that's gonna be brought to the table for you because there is so much freedom in repentance, and and I I just I love it.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: We have to, you have to get down to the nuts and bolts to the sin that you're doing, and you have to take that ownership.
- 50:11SPEAKER_00: Ownership is huge.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: It's huge in this, it's a vital part and it's a role that you have to play.
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: You have to do it.
- 50:18SPEAKER_00: And I have to do it.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying, oh, you go do it and let me watch.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: No, I have to do it too.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: We're all in that.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: It's for everyone.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: You know, like it said, uh, from Adam on, we all are sinners.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: So we all have to do it.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: So that's why it says we all fall short of the glory of God.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: It doesn't say, oh, well, Eve didn't fall short of the glory of God because Adam ate the apple first.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: No, it says all, including Adam, and Eve.
- 50:46SPEAKER_00: So we have to look at the whole picture.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: There's a lot to dissect here and and and to try to map it out for everyone.
- 50:53SPEAKER_00: But good stuff, good stuff.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: So that's all I have.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: What do you have, Bethany?
- 51:00SPEAKER_04: Um lastly, I would just say, you know, repentance is an individual thing.
- 51:15SPEAKER_04: You know, we and again, this is for another episode or more as well, but um the Holy Spirit is just impressing upon me that we need to understand that it's individual, it's not collective or you know, no, we have to repent for somebody else.
- 51:50SPEAKER_04: No, it's it's individual and so um be encouraged that you are responsible for yourself.
- 52:08SPEAKER_04: And yes, repentance may sound scary, but it truly as we've said, it truly is freedom when when you understand that you've been set free from whatever you've done.
- 52:43SPEAKER_04: Um so yes, this series on repentance will be powerful and uplifting, and you won't want to miss any of it.
- 52:59SPEAKER_00: And so yeah, yeah, that's really, really awesome.
- 53:06SPEAKER_00: So if if you guys are are needing to pray for repentance, um, I encourage you to reach out to Bethany or I will be glad to pray with you.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: Um, if you're not understanding what it is we're talking about today, reach out, ask any questions you have.
- 53:21SPEAKER_00: Ask and if we don't know the answer, we will find the answer.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: And guess where we're gonna look for the answer?
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: We're gonna look for it in the word of God.
- 53:27SPEAKER_00: We want to make sure that whatever we lay on the table comes from straight from the Bible.
- 53:32SPEAKER_00: And um, and it and if there's anything in there that you're just not understanding or not sure of, um, feel free to you know ask all of your questions.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: And also, if you want to um reach out for coaching, you can reach me at crushingstrongholds.com and Bethany, where can they can reach you?
- 53:50SPEAKER_04: Um read.com with dashes between the words.
- 54:01SPEAKER_04: So create a dash and dash is dash image.com.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: So now you have all of the information, you know kind of what we do, you kind of know where to reach us.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: Um, but we want to help you guys.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: We want to help you um not only to learn, but we want people to walk in truth.
- 54:19SPEAKER_00: We want people to know what the truth is because there is a freedom in walking in truth.
- 54:24SPEAKER_00: That's why we both want we we both want to help people break free, break free from trauma or strongholds or whatever it is that keeps us from that freedom.
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: And learning to repent is huge in that.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: This is going to be a great topic of discussion.
- 54:38SPEAKER_00: So as we um close today, I just want to close out with a word of prayer.
- 54:43SPEAKER_00: Father God, we thank you, Lord, for for your word.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: We thank you for for Genesis all the way to Revelations, Lord.
- 54:49SPEAKER_00: We thank you for your instruction.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: We thank you for the wisdom that you give us, and we just ask that you just take the words that you've shared with us through Holy Spirit today, and that you just help someone that needs it today, Lord.
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: We just ask that you just bind the enemy and cast him down, Lord.
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: We we know that the enemy likes to be a be a um deterrent in our life, Lord.
- 55:08SPEAKER_00: We just ask that you just keep the enemy at bay.
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: Lord, we thank you for for giving us your word, giving us this message today, helping us to um share with our listeners um what it is that that your plan is, Lord.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: We know that your plan is perfect and there's no there's no fault in anything that you do, Lord.
- 55:25SPEAKER_00: Lord, help us to um walk in your likeness and and just to to keep you to to be mindful of you, Lord, always.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: Lord, we thank you for this this opportunity to be able to talk and share across the world.
- 55:37SPEAKER_00: And Lord, we just ask that you help us to learn to repent and that we re we we repent freely and we repent daily, Lord.
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: We just thank you for your love.
- 55:46SPEAKER_00: We thank you for your mercy, and we thank you for your forgiveness, Lord.
- 55:48SPEAKER_00: We just love you in Jesus' name.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: We pray, amen.
- 55:51unknown: All right.
- 55:52SPEAKER_00: Well, with that being said, um, I hope you all have a great afternoon, and we will see you on part two, and hopefully I that might be the end, but we'll see.
- 56:01SPEAKER_00: So y'all take care.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: God bless you.
