- 0:30Speaker 1: master needs games and games need players, so please welcome first.
- 0:34Speaker 1: She is our evergreen panelist, a podcaster and comedian who
- 0:37Speaker 1: works in STEM, which today stands for Shakespeare typed eternally
- 0:42Speaker 1: by Monkeys.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It's Audrey Stevenson.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Hello, and she is an improviser, singer, actor, and theater
- 0:49Speaker 1: owner who is currently our improvised Shakespeare teacher. So no
- 0:52Speaker 1: pressure order check out peak improv dot com for classes
- 0:56Speaker 1: and shows.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's Megan Hyde. Hello, Hello, Hello, Welcome.
- 0:59Speaker 1: To the podcast. As always, all drop Welcome for the
- 1:02Speaker 1: first time. Megan, How are you both doing?
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm doing great. It's ten o'clock in the morning. Yes,
- 1:07Speaker 3: I've had some donut holes. I'm ready to do some
- 1:10Speaker 3: Shakespeare things.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Just a real Shakespearean food that they had back then
- 1:14Speaker 1: in Elizabethan times.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Donut holes.
- 1:16Speaker 3: No, no, but it speaks to my spirit and so
- 1:19Speaker 3: it makes me more ready to undertake the events at play.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Good good, I love it. I love it.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'm sure donut is probably a word he invented. He
- 1:27Speaker 1: invented a lot of words.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Probably, we'll find out. We'll find out. Uh, Megan, how
- 1:32Speaker 4: are you doing?
- 1:33Speaker 5: I feel fantastic, excellent, albeit mildly intimidated, but apprehensive maybe
- 1:41Speaker 5: is a better word apprehensive, and uh not fully caffeinated yet,
- 1:47Speaker 5: So of course, see, we'll see how much my brain collaborates.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll caffeate up over the course of the
- 1:54Speaker 1: next twenty thirty minutes before the game's actually kick off.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So you with this is the Shakespeare episode. This feels
- 1:59Speaker 1: like it's the original fandom in a lot of ways,
- 2:02Speaker 1: like kind of one of the first media properties, so
- 2:06Speaker 1: to speak, that people obsessed over ultra. Where's your Shakespeare
- 2:09Speaker 1: knowledge at tis middling?
- 2:13Speaker 4: I would say.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Very Shakespearean.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yes, I did that.
- 2:17Speaker 3: On purpose to distract from the quality of my answers.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I've read the Biggins, and I know general summaries of
- 2:27Speaker 3: the rest of them's okay, and I've watched the modern
- 2:32Speaker 3: interpretations Ten Things I Hate about You being Taming of
- 2:36Speaker 3: the Shrew. So I have I have a general osmosis
- 2:39Speaker 3: knowledge of Shakespeare.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Good good.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I think some of the adaptations might come up later. Yeah, yeah, this,
- 2:45Speaker 1: This could be good, This could be good. Megan, what
- 2:47Speaker 1: about yourself a fan.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Of the Bard?
- 2:48Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, uh, I'm gonna say Odro maybe
- 2:52Speaker 5: knows more about Shakespeare than I do.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:55Speaker 5: I've you know, I've read some of them. I've been
- 2:58Speaker 5: cast in a couple I think.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Nice.
- 3:02Speaker 5: So I have done some Shakespeare. That was a long
- 3:05Speaker 5: time ago, though I was in college. Still counts, okay.
- 3:09Speaker 4: It counts. Yeah.
- 3:10Speaker 3: We cannot discount college accomplishments.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Would I would have so little. We need to keep
- 3:16Speaker 5: those Internet good good good. I love the language, big
- 3:20Speaker 5: fan of the language. I studied that, probably more than
- 3:23Speaker 5: I've studied Shakespeare itself. Just Elizabethan language. Nice, okay, And
- 3:27Speaker 5: you know the form of the improvised Shakespeare form. Obviously
- 3:31Speaker 5: a huge fan. But I like people to know you
- 3:33Speaker 5: don't have to be an expert on Shakespeare in.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Order to try out the form.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's okay, Shakespeare form it sure like it helps,
- 3:41Speaker 5: But I haven't had nearly enough time to, like ram
- 3:44Speaker 5: my head with enough Shakespeare knowledge to impress anybody today,
- 3:48Speaker 5: So lower those expectations.
- 3:51Speaker 1: It's good that that's where you're at in terms of
- 3:54Speaker 1: shakespeare An improv because that's how this podcast works. In
- 3:56Speaker 1: terms of knowledge, you really don't need to know a
- 3:58Speaker 1: lot to play these perfect So yeah, and I think
- 4:02Speaker 1: the language will come up later as well.
- 4:04Speaker 2: So this is good. This is good stuff, all right,
- 4:07Speaker 2: thank you, thank.
- 4:07Speaker 1: You both for joining for the Shakespeare episode that I'm
- 4:10Speaker 1: very this feels very classy.
- 4:12Speaker 2: We normally do like fucking Star Wars and shit.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Well thank you. Not that Star Wars isn't classy. I mean,
- 4:18Speaker 5: come on, well, well, this is a competition. So I
- 4:23Speaker 5: hear a rumor of a roguish pair looking to challenge
- 4:26Speaker 5: your throne, So let's meet them. She is an improviser, actor, dancer,
- 4:31Speaker 5: and cast member of Team Up, the brand new superhero TTRPG.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Check the show notes for all the good links to
- 4:37Speaker 5: get involved with Team Up. It's Stephanie Facla.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Hello, Hello, I loved being described with Kristin as a
- 4:45Speaker 6: road It's really good.
- 4:47Speaker 4: It's very good.
- 4:49Speaker 1: That's something in me that I didn't know needed to
- 4:51Speaker 1: be touched. And speaking of the other half of your
- 4:56Speaker 1: roguish pair. She is a culture writer, podcaster, author, and
- 4:59Speaker 1: you can listen to the brilliantly produced and fantastically eerie
- 5:03Speaker 1: Thin Places Radio wherever you get your podcasts. It's Kristin O'Neill. Hi, Hello, Hello,
- 5:09Speaker 1: welcome both of you to the podcast for the first time.
- 5:11Speaker 1: How are you doing.
- 5:12Speaker 7: I'm great, so good, I'm normal. That's what I always
- 5:15Speaker 7: say when I introduce myself, and it's true, and don't.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Worry about it.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I won't, especially now that you've added that.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Great, Well we're here to talk about the Bard. So Stephanie,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'll start with you. Are you Are you a fan
- 5:30Speaker 1: of Shakespeare?
- 5:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 5:32Speaker 6: I mean I also you know, have read the Biggins
- 5:35Speaker 6: Love Love some of the adaptations for the screen. Kristen
- 5:40Speaker 6: was a witness to me playing Juliet.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Listen, everybody eighth great.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, they still count these accomplishments.
- 5:47Speaker 7: Yes, we honestly, you were good. Everybody else was not good,
- 5:52Speaker 7: but you were kind of crushing.
- 5:54Speaker 6: That is something that is like, you know, like something
- 5:57Speaker 6: only a best friend would say.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Well, no, it's true.
- 6:00Speaker 7: Although so listen, you gave the happy dagger speech and
- 6:03Speaker 7: everyone did start laughing, but that's because we were here.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And it's just funny to think about a happy dagger
- 6:10Speaker 1: because they.
- 6:10Speaker 4: See thank you, yeah, the roast and let me die. Yeah,
- 6:15Speaker 4: it's hilarious. Yeah, but I see you died very gracefully.
- 6:18Speaker 7: Your your Romeo counterpart died, and then he was uncomfortable,
- 6:22Speaker 7: and then he requisitioned himself on stage a little bit
- 6:25Speaker 7: just to kind of skew it over.
- 6:27Speaker 4: So that really was that interesting. So I'm so qualified
- 6:33Speaker 4: for thispisode.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Absolutely sounds it. I'm Kristen, what about yourself? You a
- 6:38Speaker 2: fan of the Bod, big fan, big fan.
- 6:40Speaker 7: I don't want to overstate it, though, because I feel
- 6:42Speaker 7: like I'm going to forget everything I know once we
- 6:44Speaker 7: started doing this. But I did study him a lot
- 6:47Speaker 7: in college, and I went to England and also studied
- 6:50Speaker 7: him mores. Okay, but it was ten years ago, So
- 6:54Speaker 7: we'll see.
- 6:56Speaker 2: We'll see, we'll see.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But it sounds like we maybe have our expert our
- 6:59Speaker 1: person beats here.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Maybe Oh no, well, we'll see.
- 7:02Speaker 6: I feel like a lot of what I know is
- 7:04Speaker 6: just because of conversations I have with Kristin, or she's like,
- 7:07Speaker 6: did you know?
- 7:09Speaker 4: And then I learned something.
- 7:13Speaker 1: We had a great fun fact just before we hit records. Yes,
- 7:17Speaker 1: so we know you're full of fun facts. Kristin, do
- 7:19Speaker 1: you obviously again, Yeah, let's say, let's say it again.
- 7:22Speaker 1: For the listeners, can I say pussy on this show?
- 7:24Speaker 2: Pussy?
- 7:25Speaker 5: Yay?
- 7:26Speaker 4: Okay?
- 7:27Speaker 7: How much you do about nothing is a pun? Nothing
- 7:30Speaker 7: means nothing, right, Like, oh, you're making a big deal
- 7:32Speaker 7: about like about nothing? Nothing is also slag in that
- 7:35Speaker 7: time for pussy. So much do about nothing has a
- 7:38Speaker 7: double meaning. And that you guys are all freaking out
- 7:40Speaker 7: about pussy.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like that hasn't changed, Like over all
- 7:48Speaker 5: of time, everybody freaks out about pussy.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah, there's always what you do about nothing?
- 7:53Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 7:53Speaker 3: Why he's so transcendent speaking to us in this era
- 7:57Speaker 3: as well.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Reaching through time.
- 8:02Speaker 7: He's funny, He's like he I think the thing I
- 8:05Speaker 7: want people to know the most about Shakespeare is like
- 8:07Speaker 7: usually you're like, oh, we're very fancy, and I'm like
- 8:09Speaker 7: in a way, but also much do about nothing or
- 8:13Speaker 7: any of the like comic relief characters making dirty jokes.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Like, he's a fun time too.
- 8:18Speaker 2: He's funny. We've got to give it to him. He's funny.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I gotta give it to that. God he's not getting
- 8:24Speaker 4: enough accolades. Yeah, this guy called Shakespeare. It's kind of
- 8:30Speaker 4: a hot new thing.
- 8:33Speaker 1: All right, Teams, you've rocked up at the Globe Theater,
- 8:36Speaker 1: ready to perform as an exciting new duo of players. However,
- 8:40Speaker 1: your troop of two will need some branding before you
- 8:42Speaker 1: tread the ethereal audio boards of podcasting.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Ooh, prestigious.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So I'd like each pad to come up with a
- 8:50Speaker 1: Shakespeare themed team name. Please, let's start with Ultra and
- 8:53Speaker 1: Megan got any ideas.
- 8:54Speaker 3: We had a couple at a bonfire last night.
- 8:58Speaker 5: He still smells like smokes, yes.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Because I didn't. I did not shower after that.
- 9:05Speaker 5: I showered this morning, but I did not wash my hair.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Most of the A lot of times I will go
- 9:10Speaker 3: for a cheap joke of trying to put slut or
- 9:12Speaker 3: whore into like a word within the fandom. But Puck
- 9:18Speaker 3: is a character from Shakespeare. And so last night we had.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Bunnies. Puck bunnies. Was that's really good?
- 9:29Speaker 5: I liked I liked the Bard bitches Barne.
- 9:35Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I like Puck Bunnies just as much.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I think there was a few Puck puck off. Oh,
- 9:42Speaker 3: that's really good, Pucking Wilding mild.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I do think that's a book.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Don't look it up.
- 9:56Speaker 4: But I do like Puck Bunnies. Puck Buddies is one
- 9:58Speaker 4: of the nies. We'll go with that.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Puck Bunnies, all right, that's that's your team name, puck
- 10:03Speaker 1: Bunnies Unite. Just puck Bunnies. That's what I'm writing down,
- 10:07Speaker 1: puck bunnies. That's a hockey thing, right.
- 10:10Speaker 4: It sounds like I could be it is.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I do think it's a term for someone who wants
- 10:14Speaker 3: to fuck a hockey player, like a green yes, hockey groupie,
- 10:19Speaker 3: but also is relevant thematically.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So relevant, yes, And it sounds like funk, which is
- 10:27Speaker 1: very funny.
- 10:27Speaker 4: It does. Wait, what.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Fantastic? So we have the puck Bunnies. Let's find out
- 10:33Speaker 1: who they'll be facing Kristen.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Oh, we didn't talk about this.
- 10:38Speaker 2: He actually did.
- 10:39Speaker 4: We did, and I've been sitting on it for two months.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Oh my god. I'm okay.
- 10:44Speaker 6: It bodes well that you forgot, because I want to
- 10:47Speaker 6: see your reaction to it. Again. We are if Kristin
- 10:51Speaker 6: so chooses to accept Rosen Chris and guild and stuff.
- 10:55Speaker 7: That's so good. Yeah, we just talked about this. I'm
- 10:58Speaker 7: really really good. And that's it's the vibe as well.
- 11:03Speaker 4: We are going to.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a fantastic team name for those of us
- 11:11Speaker 1: with just accents, not a huge amount of Shakespeare knowledge.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Could you could you share the references within that?
- 11:17Speaker 7: Yeah, Kristen, Yeah, Berlyn Crans and Gildenstern are like a
- 11:20Speaker 7: comedic duo and Hamlet, which is crazy because the tragedies
- 11:24Speaker 7: don't always get like a comedy duo, so it is
- 11:27Speaker 7: kind of weird place to be in.
- 11:30Speaker 4: They do get killed.
- 11:31Speaker 7: Off screen, and then Tom Stoppard made a play called
- 11:34Speaker 7: Rosenkranz and Gildenstern are Dead. That's very like modernist nothing
- 11:39Speaker 7: quite happens. They're all like it's from their perspective, so
- 11:42Speaker 7: they're just like wandering around the play being like what's
- 11:44Speaker 7: going on because they're like very minor characters. It's really funny.
- 11:49Speaker 2: So is it Rosen, Kristen, guild and Steph?
- 11:52Speaker 4: Is that? Yes?
- 11:53Speaker 2: Lovely, lovely stuff.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 11:58Speaker 3: My favorite thing is when people give Matt a difficult
- 12:03Speaker 3: name to say. Does he has to say it? I
- 12:06Speaker 3: don't know, twenty five times during this episode.
- 12:10Speaker 1: All right, Rosen, Kristen Gilden, Steph. I'm gonna be practicing
- 12:13Speaker 1: that over and over. Rosen Kristian Gilden Steph.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I love the.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Reference parentheses are not yet parentheses crash tucket already. Yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 5: I will not live up to that me either.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Not going to stop me from saying it.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I love it. Though the battle lines are being drawn.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It's great.
- 12:34Speaker 1: We've got the puck Bunnies versus Rosen christin gilden Staff.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Whoo.
- 12:40Speaker 2: All right. And if you're listening to this and thinking Hamlet,
- 12:43Speaker 2: you mean the story about the tiny pig, don't worry
- 12:47Speaker 2: his order with a little segment we like to call
- 12:49Speaker 2: passing knowledge.
- 12:51Speaker 3: William Shakespeare is an English playwright, poet, and actor who
- 12:54Speaker 3: lived from fifteen sixty four to sixteen sixteen. He's widely
- 12:58Speaker 3: regarded as the greatest writer in the English language, and
- 13:01Speaker 3: that's only because the fan fiction I wrote in twenty
- 13:03Speaker 3: eleven was written in the language of love. He's often
- 13:08Speaker 3: referred to as the Bard, and it's fitting. His works
- 13:11Speaker 3: consist of plays, sonnets, narrative poems, and a lot more.
- 13:15Speaker 3: The exact numbers have some room for debate because some
- 13:18Speaker 3: of the works only feature sections by William Shakespeare. Personally,
- 13:22Speaker 3: I'm inclined to include them because if we discredit features,
- 13:26Speaker 3: we sacrifice over half of Pitbull's discography. Mister Worldwide, more
- 13:31Speaker 3: like mister, all the World's a stage, beautiful.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Shakespeare.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that was Dulla. Shakespeare has a ton
- 13:44Speaker 4: of plays that you will have heard of.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Hamlet, the one where Hamlet dies, Romeo and Juliet, where
- 13:50Speaker 3: Romeo and Juliet die, Macbeth where Macbeth dies, King Lear,
- 13:54Speaker 3: where King Lear dies, and also Taming of the Shrew,
- 13:57Speaker 3: where an independent woman learns to love, which to me
- 14:00Speaker 3: might be a fate worse than death. His plays have
- 14:04Speaker 3: been translated into every major language and are performed more
- 14:08Speaker 3: often than those of any other play. Right, And it's
- 14:11Speaker 3: all come to this for us to engage in it
- 14:14Speaker 3: in a comedy panel game show play fandemonium.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yes, just before we get to today's games, I've asked
- 14:25Speaker 1: each player to bring in amuse something that inspires them
- 14:28Speaker 1: or something they love from this particular fandom. Shakespeare is
- 14:32Speaker 1: inspiring to me because if all the world is a stage,
- 14:35Speaker 1: then that thing I did in Whataburger last week was
- 14:37Speaker 1: performance art. Steph will start with you. What's inspiring you
- 14:42Speaker 1: from the world of Shakuspierre.
- 14:44Speaker 6: Oh, you know you told us to bring that, and
- 14:46Speaker 6: I brought the team name.
- 14:47Speaker 4: And that's where.
- 14:49Speaker 7: I feel like you're like a plucky, a plucky heroine,
- 14:54Speaker 7: you know, from the comedy, not a tragedy.
- 14:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna, you know, lean into that
- 14:58Speaker 6: sincerity and say that shake spirit is one of the
- 15:00Speaker 6: things that I do love talking about with Kristen because
- 15:03Speaker 6: she knows so much about it and.
- 15:05Speaker 4: So to have like that point of reference to like,
- 15:09Speaker 4: I just like that.
- 15:10Speaker 6: I guess maybe and maybe you don't know so much,
- 15:11Speaker 6: but like the things you really love about it, it's
- 15:14Speaker 6: just great.
- 15:14Speaker 4: It's like a great point of connection with my buddy.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Oh, your friend, that's so.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Cea mine is less less than that. I'm the I
- 15:26Speaker 4: love the fool archetype.
- 15:28Speaker 7: That's what I've brought from Shakespeare is the little jangling fool.
- 15:34Speaker 7: But the full archetype is fun because it's comic relief character.
- 15:37Speaker 7: And then one of his actors switched out right, and
- 15:40Speaker 7: then he started writing more nuanced parts for the new guy,
- 15:43Speaker 7: so it was actually like, you know, just kind of
- 15:46Speaker 7: a funny guy and then funny guy who's actually saying
- 15:48Speaker 7: some real ship.
- 15:49Speaker 1: So yeah, I like that. It's a good thing about
- 15:52Speaker 1: the fool. Yeah gets it.
- 15:53Speaker 2: You get to kind of be silly and serious.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Fun in the improvise Shakespeare class, because that is something
- 16:02Speaker 3: that Meghan brings up of, like, no, he is a fool,
- 16:05Speaker 3: but he's probably going to be the one that sees
- 16:07Speaker 3: this situation.
- 16:08Speaker 7: As exactly yeah, because you have that absurdity in mind
- 16:12Speaker 7: and that goofiness and yeah. And then also it's like, well,
- 16:15Speaker 7: I'm just crazy. I can say whatever I want and
- 16:17Speaker 7: not get field for it.
- 16:18Speaker 5: That's the social awareness to just not say the thing
- 16:21Speaker 5: that everybody else maybe does see, won't ever say out loud.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's such a great character type influenced fiction as
- 16:30Speaker 1: we know it. And yeah, great thing to be inspired by,
- 16:32Speaker 1: thank you.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 2: No, it's not friendship though, is it.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Well listen too, you don't know.
- 16:41Speaker 6: You called me a plucky heroine and that, you know,
- 16:44Speaker 6: covers a multitude of sins, kind of a Rosalind.
- 16:47Speaker 1: That's good, all right, I'm feeling very inspired by Rosen
- 16:54Speaker 1: Kristen Gilden's dead. I'm gonna have to look at that
- 16:57Speaker 1: every time. Over to the Puck Bunnies, Megan, what's inspiring
- 17:03Speaker 1: you from the world of Shakespeare?
- 17:05Speaker 8: For me?
- 17:05Speaker 5: I think it's the big emotions, Yes, because I grew
- 17:09Speaker 5: up in a very like emotionally restricted environment where I
- 17:13Speaker 5: was always told like, tone it down, Megs, you're being dramatic,
- 17:17Speaker 5: you're such a drama queen, And then they wonder why
- 17:20Speaker 5: I chose to be a theater major, right, But I
- 17:24Speaker 5: like that in Shakespeare there's just no room for like meh,
- 17:28Speaker 5: you know, like they feel so strouggly and they don't
- 17:32Speaker 5: ever stop feeling that way, no, you know, and so yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 5: it's just that emotional release for me is Yeah, what
- 17:39Speaker 5: inspires me about it?
- 17:40Speaker 1: I think that's a great answer. Great to be inspired
- 17:43Speaker 1: by it when performing, like with improvised Shakespeare, but also
- 17:46Speaker 1: just a general great thing for life is to like
- 17:48Speaker 1: feel those emotions and feel them, yeah, feel them, bake.
- 17:51Speaker 5: And let them out in a great big way and
- 17:53Speaker 5: maybe stab somebody.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, let's do exactly what's in Shakespeare playing.
- 17:59Speaker 7: It's a guy I'm taking over ten mark.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Great, great answer, fantastic stuff and order. What's inspiring you
- 18:11Speaker 1: from Shakespeare?
- 18:12Speaker 3: What's inspiring me from Shakespeare is me as a child
- 18:18Speaker 3: nice I was a kid who learned to read early
- 18:23Speaker 3: and was not one to be told I couldn't do
- 18:26Speaker 3: something in my early age, and we had like a
- 18:31Speaker 3: book that was like Shakespeare comedies and Shakespeare tragedies. And
- 18:34Speaker 3: I was looking through books looking for something to read,
- 18:36Speaker 3: and my parents were like, oh, that one's too old
- 18:38Speaker 3: for you.
- 18:38Speaker 4: You won't be able to read that.
- 18:39Speaker 3: So I took it off the shelf at I did
- 18:43Speaker 3: not know what I was reading. I had no actual concept,
- 18:46Speaker 3: but I read. Couldn't tell you which ones. Read a
- 18:50Speaker 3: few of them and generally kind of understood the plot,
- 18:54Speaker 3: like fifty percent nice and it was out of sheer
- 18:59Speaker 3: come ad energy, just out of defiance, and I'm I'm
- 19:05Speaker 3: hoping to channel that in my adulthood is.
- 19:08Speaker 1: A little bit more defiance. Yeah, that's that's great. That's
- 19:11Speaker 1: a that's a brilliant answer. You're and you half understood it.
- 19:14Speaker 1: So your parents were only half right?
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yeah, they were with most things, only half right.
- 19:20Speaker 5: I did used to read the like, uh, it's called
- 19:24Speaker 5: No Fear Shakespeare to my son, and he loved it
- 19:27Speaker 5: because there's like, there's sex jokes in here, so you know,
- 19:32Speaker 5: it has the actually the original text on one side
- 19:35Speaker 5: and then the translation on the other so that you know,
- 19:38Speaker 5: he could understand what was being said. And that was
- 19:41Speaker 5: really fun bonding time for us.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Get to be a cool Mom, we're reading the Shakespeare
- 19:48Speaker 3: and it has sex jokes.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Good. That's so good and a.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Little extra bonus muse then Megan as well, I like it.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I feel doubly inspired from your side of the table.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Yeah can I Can I throw a fun act?
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 20:00Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 20:01Speaker 5: Another thing that inspired me. So, I don't know how
- 20:03Speaker 5: many of you have heard of the Improvised Shakespeare Company.
- 20:06Speaker 5: They started off in Chicago and they're all in la now.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Every once in a while they come here to DCPA.
- 20:11Speaker 5: But I went to college with Blaine Swyin, the guy
- 20:13Speaker 5: that started the group, Nice, and we did we did
- 20:17Speaker 5: a Shakespeare play together. We did The Winter's Tale, The
- 20:19Speaker 5: Winter's Tale and sorry, brilliant, brilliant, hilarious man, genius, honestly
- 20:27Speaker 5: and really cool guy. And that's another thing that it
- 20:30Speaker 5: inspired me is nice. That's yeah, it's free. I could
- 20:33Speaker 5: never do what he does. Like every time I see
- 20:35Speaker 5: that show, I leave their feeling both inspired but also
- 20:39Speaker 5: really depressed that I will never do anything that amazing.
- 20:43Speaker 7: I think I find it more impressive than like anything
- 20:45Speaker 7: else I've ever seen. Is the infrared Shakespeare? Is that
- 20:48Speaker 7: level that you have too working on is unreal?
- 20:50Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 20:51Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, So that that was a huge inspiration. And
- 20:55Speaker 5: I took a class from a friend of his that
- 20:57Speaker 5: we also both went to college with, and he went
- 20:59Speaker 5: toes with when they like started the the form back
- 21:02Speaker 5: in high school. So I took a class through him
- 21:05Speaker 5: and then saw their show and I was like, I
- 21:07Speaker 5: want to do this. It's not going to be nearly
- 21:10Speaker 5: as good, but I would give it a good college try,
- 21:13Speaker 5: you know.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So that's yeah, that's so good. That's awesome.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Because I've not seen the Improvised Shakespeare Company yet, I
- 21:18Speaker 1: really want to the next time they're around. But Field Trip,
- 21:24Speaker 1: I can. I can say it's definitely a challenging form
- 21:27Speaker 1: to learn.
- 21:28Speaker 2: For sure. It's a participation and yeah it's it's Did you.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Know Sir Patrick Stewart would perform with them at times?
- 21:36Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 21:37Speaker 5: And I've got a story I can tell you when
- 21:39Speaker 5: we're not recording, just out of respect for my friend blame.
- 21:45Speaker 5: I don't know that he wants that out there on
- 21:46Speaker 5: the airways. It's an amazing story. Is going to blow
- 21:50Speaker 5: your mind.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Out of respect for your dear friend, Sir Patrick's.
- 21:56Speaker 5: By proxy. Maybe I don't know.
- 21:59Speaker 1: The next thing I've got written here isn't out of
- 22:01Speaker 1: respect for sir Patrick, I'm very inspired. Teams, thank you
- 22:04Speaker 1: so much. But now the opening Stanza has been read
- 22:08Speaker 1: by the understudy, because Sir Patrick Stewart has had a
- 22:11Speaker 1: few too many, So it must be time for Act one.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Round one is called the Comedy of Errors. For this game,
- 22:22Speaker 1: I have changed the titles of some Shakespeare plays by
- 22:25Speaker 1: just one letter to create a whole new original play.
- 22:29Speaker 1: But can our players find the title of the new
- 22:31Speaker 1: play from the synopsis alone? So if I said two
- 22:35Speaker 1: pairs of golden age Hollywood actor twins are separated and
- 22:39Speaker 1: shipwrecked and enter a farce of mistaken identity, the answer
- 22:43Speaker 1: would be the Comedy of Errols. And that's the worst one,
- 22:47Speaker 1: which is why I've used it as Yeah, well, I
- 22:51Speaker 1: could only come up with nine of these, and one
- 22:52Speaker 1: of them had to be the example. Well, they're easier
- 22:56Speaker 1: than that, I would hope. I don't even know what
- 23:01Speaker 1: that last word meant.
- 23:04Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, but that's stretch.
- 23:08Speaker 1: To a nineteen thirties actor. No slash buckler more recent
- 23:13Speaker 1: than Shakespeare. Clues will be for individual players with correct
- 23:16Speaker 1: answers worth two points. But because putting on a play
- 23:19Speaker 1: is all about teamwork, if you don't know the answer,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you can ask your teammate for help and your team
- 23:24Speaker 1: will still score one point.
- 23:25Speaker 2: And no stealing. We don't like stealing in this this
- 23:28Speaker 2: game show. We don't. We don't.
- 23:30Speaker 4: That takes the pressure.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so odro. We are going to begin with
- 23:34Speaker 1: a brand new synopsis for you.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Okay, what is.
- 23:37Speaker 1: The title of this Shakespeare play? A young lovesick horseback
- 23:41Speaker 1: stuntman falls in love with a member of a rival
- 23:44Speaker 1: ekwine cowboy family.
- 23:46Speaker 4: I know what play, but I don't know what those
- 23:49Speaker 4: switch letters are.
- 23:50Speaker 3: You've got oh, Rodeo and Juliet. I saw Megan get
- 24:00Speaker 3: it and I was like, I was like, okay, no,
- 24:02Speaker 3: she's looking at me like I would know this.
- 24:06Speaker 4: If Meghan can get it, then I don't have.
- 24:09Speaker 3: That teacher energy of like Megan looking at me and
- 24:12Speaker 3: be like you can do this.
- 24:13Speaker 4: You've got this, babe. Maybe I've got.
- 24:16Speaker 1: This and that believes two points. Well done, Steph, it
- 24:21Speaker 1: is time for a synopsis for you. Here it is
- 24:23Speaker 1: a royal, grisly animal divides his realm between two daughters
- 24:28Speaker 1: and banishes the other. He then goes feral and wanders
- 24:31Speaker 1: through a storm. Oh my god, what I got it,
- 24:36Speaker 1: but I believe in you. Okay, okay, any plays coming
- 24:40Speaker 1: to mind? Maybe no one? Would you like to?
- 24:46Speaker 3: I would love Kristen's help. I feel like I should
- 24:49Speaker 3: do what is like? I'm on Jeopardy.
- 24:52Speaker 4: It's King Bear.
- 24:53Speaker 2: It is King Bear. Yes, but one had was Bear.
- 24:59Speaker 4: In my head and I could bear was right though? Yeah?
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yeah absolutely yeah leah baar. They don't sound similar to that.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Yeah, that's great. Okay, Meghan? Are you ready for a synopsis?
- 25:10Speaker 4: I think so.
- 25:11Speaker 2: You two look very cheeky.
- 25:16Speaker 1: No reason, no reason, okay, Meghan, here is your Shakespeare
- 25:19Speaker 1: play synopsis. Before Donkey can get married to Dragon, he
- 25:23Speaker 1: must first find a suitable partner for her swamp dwelling
- 25:27Speaker 1: ogre sibling.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Taming of the Shrek.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Fantastic. That's just a fun one. Who doesn't love a Shrek?
- 25:41Speaker 4: Perfect? That's great.
- 25:42Speaker 7: It's kind of that kind of is the plot of
- 25:44Speaker 7: Shrek anyway?
- 25:46Speaker 1: Shakespeare too Far sequels. Yeah, Kristen, here is your play synopsis?
- 25:51Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Four Athenians get lost on a dairy farm and are
- 25:56Speaker 1: tricked by a fairy into falling in love with a
- 25:59Speaker 1: layer of fatty Quid founder top Milk got.

- 26:13Speaker 1: synopsies for you. We're not just doing one, We're doing two.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Bring it on, Play it on me, okay, Audra. Here
- 26:19Speaker 1: it is Rosalind cycles into the forest dressed as a boy,
- 26:24Speaker 1: where she is wooed by her lover and they're married
- 26:27Speaker 1: in a ceremony held by Eddie Merks.
- 26:30Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm just gonna level with everybody on this podcast.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I don't know this. I fundamentally have no idea.
- 26:37Speaker 2: The second ones are a little bit I do.
- 26:39Speaker 4: But there's no stealing Christmas. I'm gonna say.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna say.
- 26:50Speaker 2: It is active cheating happening right now.
- 26:53Speaker 4: What are you looking at.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Right well, because it's not that I'm gonna.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Are you saying like like Cymbeline but cycling?
- 27:06Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 27:07Speaker 4: That wasn't it? Was there a biking element of that.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Which is quite yea, are you picking up on I mean,
- 27:12Speaker 1: for you can have for one point, if mecan you
- 27:14Speaker 1: have an idea other than cycling.
- 27:16Speaker 2: But are you feeling cycling was your idea?
- 27:18Speaker 5: No?
- 27:18Speaker 4: It was it?
- 27:18Speaker 5: Can you read Can you read this?
- 27:22Speaker 1: Rosalind cycles into the forest dressed as a boy, where
- 27:26Speaker 1: she is wooed by her lover and they're married in
- 27:28Speaker 1: a ceremony held by Eddie Murks.
- 27:33Speaker 5: She said that what he's stealing for I guess, to.
- 27:41Speaker 4: My embarrassment, I don't know who Eddie Merks is.
- 27:45Speaker 1: That's okay that Eddie Murks would be so niche if
- 27:47Speaker 1: you knew who Eddie Mrk. So no points for your team,
- 27:53Speaker 1: but it's going to be no points to throw it over.
- 27:55Speaker 1: But I feel like Kristen wants to say.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Can I say it? Yeah?
- 27:59Speaker 2: Steph? Do you want to say it as well? Just
- 28:01Speaker 2: at the same time.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Let's say the same habit, same time? Save you ready?
- 28:04Speaker 8: Time?
- 28:04Speaker 4: Yeah? Three? Two? What as as you like it?
- 28:13Speaker 2: Eddie Murks is a famous cyclist.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 28:17Speaker 7: I just know that Ross is the protagonist of ass
- 28:19Speaker 7: you like it?
- 28:21Speaker 4: That I did not remember. I said it earlier to
- 28:24Speaker 4: step That's why I'm a mine.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Sorry all right, And speaking of Steph, I've got a
- 28:30Speaker 1: synopsis for you.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Okay. Here it is going to redeem myself.
- 28:33Speaker 1: An eternal bachelor and a known spinster fall in love
- 28:37Speaker 1: when they both defend The nineteen ninety nine rom com
- 28:40Speaker 1: classic starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Much ado about notting yes, a good really good. That's
- 28:50Speaker 4: quicker than I would have gotten the.
- 28:53Speaker 1: What yeah, great great movie a movie just just saying that,
- 29:02Speaker 1: say statement. Okay, Meghan, a synopsis for you?
- 29:08Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 29:09Speaker 1: I feel like you're gonna cheat no matter what I
- 29:11Speaker 1: probably am. This is unbelievable. I've never had a genuine
- 29:16Speaker 1: Cheatah in four and a half years of doing this podcast,
- 29:18Speaker 1: a brazen cheating.
- 29:22Speaker 3: You're You've there have been people on this where we've
- 29:25Speaker 3: straight up seen their screen in the reflection of their
- 29:28Speaker 3: glasses and you you have called them out. But to
- 29:30Speaker 3: say that it's the first time, Yeah, fundamentally untrue.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Challenged.
- 29:34Speaker 1: That's now you're you're cheating and you're challenging me. This
- 29:37Speaker 1: is I don't know how to react with how to
- 29:39Speaker 1: respond as games past.
- 29:41Speaker 6: You react Rosens and Gilden stuff the wind. That's serious.
- 29:45Speaker 4: I mean I may have to It's like some torment
- 29:48Speaker 4: every time you have to say it, which is kind
- 29:50Speaker 4: of fun for us.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So I've been thankful I've being able to just say
- 29:55Speaker 1: your names for this round. Okay, Meghan, here is your
- 29:58Speaker 1: next synopsis. Scarlett Johansson and three of her friends swear
- 30:03Speaker 1: off men forever until four SNL comedians arrive at her
- 30:07Speaker 1: mansion to spend the night.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Kristen, No, it's just a really funny friend.
- 30:16Speaker 5: Charlett and her friends.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Three of her friends swear off men forever until four
- 30:24Speaker 1: SNL comedians arrive at her mansion to spend the night.
- 30:29Speaker 5: I've gotten gonna be something with the twelve night, I've
- 30:33Speaker 5: got nothing.
- 30:35Speaker 1: This is tough. This is a tough one. Do you
- 30:37Speaker 1: want to pantomime?
- 30:38Speaker 2: Mordra?
- 30:38Speaker 1: While Meghan looks at a list of Shakespeare plays.
- 30:42Speaker 4: I don't.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Oh, I was just going to do different things that
- 30:47Speaker 3: I thought were shakespeareance because I don't have any.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Help to provide.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Scarlett Johansson thinks, scarlettnys in. She's black widow and had
- 30:57Speaker 3: had friends in that She's married two s n ls.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Colin Joe's is that his name okay sounds like it,
- 31:07Speaker 3: and so there is there is a connection there.
- 31:09Speaker 1: If Megan says it, you get two points. If you
- 31:11Speaker 1: say it, it gets one point. But I love that
- 31:13Speaker 1: you're both thinking out loud, Yes, thank you.
- 31:15Speaker 7: U work makes the dream work. I'm gonna be I
- 31:19Speaker 7: don't know this one either. What are what are plays
- 31:21Speaker 7: we haven't said.
- 31:23Speaker 1: I might have to time you out, that would be fair.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Any ideas from the other team on this one? Just one.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Changed? Yeah, yeah, the.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Only is the Wives.
- 31:37Speaker 7: I was gonna say it's the Marry Wives Windsor. That's
- 31:40Speaker 7: was my only guess.
- 31:41Speaker 1: It's it's it's that I don't know love Labor's just
- 31:45Speaker 1: oh my god, this.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Is my one. Like, I straight up have not read it,
- 31:51Speaker 4: know nothing about it.
- 31:52Speaker 3: It's the tuppy So I'm gonna say that I forgot
- 31:56Speaker 3: that existed.
- 31:58Speaker 4: Well, it is.
- 31:58Speaker 7: One of the disputed, so there you go, loopoole, it
- 32:04Speaker 7: didn't count as dispute it.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Yeah, it's disputed. He stumped us mat that was great.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Pitbull and kesherte that one.
- 32:17Speaker 9: Okay.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I wrote one last synopsis. It's time for Kristen. Here
- 32:20Speaker 2: it is.
- 32:20Speaker 4: It's not that hard.
- 32:22Speaker 2: It's pretty tough. It's a tough thing.
- 32:23Speaker 4: You got this, babe, You've got this.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Twin numbers mistake each other for dead and then disguise
- 32:29Speaker 1: themselves as each other. It's all sixes and sevens in
- 32:32Speaker 1: a case of mistaken identity where one sibling marries a
- 32:36Speaker 1: prime number.
- 32:37Speaker 7: I love prime numbers. That's crazy. Though, I'm gonna need stuff,
- 32:42Speaker 7: so do you know it?
- 32:43Speaker 4: This is crazy?
- 32:43Speaker 6: No?
- 32:44Speaker 7: But what what is the name of the play? I'm
- 32:46Speaker 7: gonna say? Is this twelfth Night? I mean, what else
- 32:48Speaker 7: has twins? But I think also there's another one with
- 32:50Speaker 7: twins that might.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Be closer to this. Here's the question that sounds like
- 32:56Speaker 4: what letter do we eat?
- 32:58Speaker 5: Well?
- 32:58Speaker 4: That is also a number? Though?
- 33:00Speaker 7: Wait is it twelve? I don't want to say this
- 33:02Speaker 7: now twelve nine? Is that anything?
- 33:04Speaker 6: No?
- 33:04Speaker 4: No, because that's not changing one level.
- 33:06Speaker 5: But nine is also not a prime number? No?
- 33:12Speaker 4: Yeah, wait, what are the primes?
- 33:14Speaker 7: I mean, I can't just go through all of them.
- 33:18Speaker 7: I'm gonna go through every prime number on a podcast.
- 33:20Speaker 7: You're going to listen, Please be really good listening.
- 33:23Speaker 3: I won't even out Honestly, this is what I wanted
- 33:26Speaker 3: the podcast to originally be.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Is just listing prime numbers? Yes? Oh okay, can you
- 33:31Speaker 4: ride again? Actually?
- 33:32Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 33:33Speaker 1: And maybe the prime part isn't isn't the thing to
- 33:35Speaker 1: focus on twin numbers mistake each other for dead, and
- 33:38Speaker 1: then disguise themselves as each other. It's all sixes and
- 33:42Speaker 1: sevens in a case of mistaken our identity.
- 33:45Speaker 7: Yeah, that has to be twelve night. But what's all
- 33:48Speaker 7: sixes and sevens? What do you mean it's all but
- 33:52Speaker 7: six plus seven?
- 33:53Speaker 4: We got it? No, I don't. I don't think I
- 33:55Speaker 4: have it, but I have an idea.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Well, okay, eight, it's twelve eight?
- 34:09Speaker 7: Oh my god, that's crazy. Also, none of them, it's
- 34:13Speaker 7: none of those are prime numbers. It's it's the Duke
- 34:14Speaker 7: is the prime number in this scenario.
- 34:16Speaker 4: I believe number.
- 34:18Speaker 7: You are royalty in the world. If everyone's a number,
- 34:20Speaker 7: we're doing a little, a little world.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Building, the Shakespeare expanded you to us. All right, that
- 34:28Speaker 1: is the end of round one. Let's ask the intelligence
- 34:33Speaker 1: and strategically brilliant Henry the Fifth to calculate the latest scores.
- 34:38Speaker 1: If he was so smart, why did it take five
- 34:40Speaker 1: Henry's to achieve his.
- 34:41Speaker 4: Goals so many?
- 34:43Speaker 1: All right, those scores are the Puckpennies are on four points,
- 34:47Speaker 1: but Rosen Christen Guilden's staff are on six points.
- 34:51Speaker 7: Hey, I didn't even think that we were doing better.
- 34:56Speaker 2: You do better than the.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Listen, only slightly.
- 35:01Speaker 7: It's none of us knew what loves labors?
- 35:05Speaker 4: Just that's crazy, that's true. That was awesome.
- 35:10Speaker 6: I felt like I got a little glimpse into your brain, mat.
- 35:12Speaker 1: And it was yeah, yeah, I don't want to admit
- 35:16Speaker 1: how long I spent making those, especially in a world
- 35:18Speaker 1: where AI could have done it for me.
- 35:20Speaker 2: But where's the.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Hey no, no, it's your brain. Don't let them take it.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Up next is round two after this commercial break. Unless
- 35:30Speaker 1: you sign up to our Patreon, where the free tia
- 35:32Speaker 1: is ad free. If you want to avoid the senseless
- 35:35Speaker 1: capitalism that's about to happen, sign up to patreon dot com.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Forward slash gatesleepers. I don't know about this corporate stuff, Fordre.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Do you think our business manager will be happy with that?
- 35:44Speaker 3: No?
- 35:45Speaker 4: Absolutely not.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I don't think it was very sincere.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Shit, it's fine, they'll be fine.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Play the music.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Round two is called shall I Compare the We're going
- 35:59Speaker 1: to create some original Shakespearean scenes from some prompts I
- 36:03Speaker 1: have here, but every line spoken by our players must
- 36:07Speaker 1: be a question. The scene ends when one player doesn't
- 36:10Speaker 1: respond with a question, or when a satisfying conclusion happens,
- 36:14Speaker 1: at which point I will say and scene and I
- 36:16Speaker 1: guess it's the X thing for you've you've said it
- 36:20Speaker 1: sounds like really harsh On our podcast, we don't really
- 36:22Speaker 1: have that kind of vibe and torne. Is there a
- 36:23Speaker 1: softer way of doing that?
- 36:25Speaker 5: Oh?
- 36:25Speaker 3: Stop, please, no thanks, that's more brutal.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Exit pursued by a bear.
- 36:36Speaker 2: That's perfect. That's what I will say if I don't
- 36:39Speaker 2: hear it.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Winter sales points are awarded arbitrarily by me because I
- 36:44Speaker 1: have this accent, so it's assumed dignoshals. But I'll be
- 36:48Speaker 1: looking for Elizabethan language, Shakespearean themes, and how long you
- 36:51Speaker 1: manage to keep up the streak of asking questions. Also,
- 36:55Speaker 1: let's put a hat on this hat before each scene begins,
- 36:59Speaker 1: We'll spin the word wheel and you'll get a bonus
- 37:01Speaker 1: point if one player uses the word in their scene.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Let's look at those words. Great, okay, some classic Shakespearean
- 37:08Speaker 1: words here. We have hatchback, riz, netflix, adoptable, doom, scrolling, rim, job, neto, baby,
- 37:17Speaker 1: and cottage.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Core those.
- 37:20Speaker 5: Okay, you probably tell you which Shakespearean play each of
- 37:24Speaker 5: those words, one for each of them.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Time, and if you can't think of a question, just
- 37:37Speaker 1: improvise the start of a sonnet, like shall I compare
- 37:39Speaker 1: thee to a summer's day? Could a rose ever smell
- 37:41Speaker 1: so sweet? How does one think of a third idea.
- 37:46Speaker 1: So we're going to begin with Megan and Audra performing
- 37:49Speaker 1: a Shakespearean scene for us all in questions, and your
- 37:53Speaker 1: prompt is, we'll go with a noble Queen and her
- 37:56Speaker 1: brave Knight. We will have as your characters, and your
- 37:58Speaker 1: word is neo baby, So we have a noble Queen
- 38:05Speaker 1: and her brave Knight.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Whenever you're ready, take it away.
- 38:08Speaker 4: My noble Queen.
- 38:10Speaker 5: As the knight that was only dubbed perchance because I
- 38:16Speaker 5: am a nepo baby. Would you like me to defend
- 38:21Speaker 5: thy honor today?
- 38:23Speaker 4: In any way? Can you not see around me all
- 38:27Speaker 4: of those who would would defy my stature? My Queen?
- 38:34Speaker 5: Dost thou question thine own stature in this thine own court?
- 38:41Speaker 3: How canst one not question thy own stature? When I
- 38:46Speaker 3: am surrounded by these anti sycophants?
- 38:51Speaker 5: Wow, my Queen, would you like me to fluff thy
- 38:54Speaker 5: pillow so that thou might sit slightly higher than all
- 39:00Speaker 5: of thy adversaries?
- 39:02Speaker 4: Could thou do it quickly? I must not. I didn't.
- 39:10Speaker 3: I was going I was straight up coming into a
- 39:12Speaker 3: non question. I'm just gonna be honest about it.
- 39:15Speaker 2: So shall I exit?
- 39:16Speaker 4: You can you turn. Thank you. That was so that's
- 39:20Speaker 4: so kind to offer that to me. Can'st thou do
- 39:25Speaker 4: it quickly?
- 39:27Speaker 5: Is there another way thou wouldst prefer to be elevated?
- 39:32Speaker 4: Here?
- 39:33Speaker 3: Can you sit upon my chair so that I might
- 39:37Speaker 3: sit upon thy lap?
- 39:41Speaker 4: Would thou be comfortable that way? My queen?
- 39:46Speaker 5: Yes, I want to follow up questions about how fat I.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Have or something?
- 39:59Speaker 2: Oh so good?
- 40:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm I'm giving you. I'm giving you points for
- 40:03Speaker 1: the for the language I heard. I heard Nepo Barby
- 40:06Speaker 1: very early on.
- 40:08Speaker 4: I would for.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Great stuff there, and you kept you kept it going
- 40:14Speaker 1: for quite a while. I'm going to give you four
- 40:16Speaker 1: out of five points.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Four point yea well deserved, was entertaining.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Okay, let's move on over to Rosen Kristen Gildensteph.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Good name, it's a good name.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And your your characters, your relationship is a scheming king
- 40:34Speaker 1: and an evil witch really good have and the word
- 40:39Speaker 1: you will have to include is adorable.
- 40:43Speaker 4: Adorable.
- 40:46Speaker 1: So we have a scheming king and an evil witch
- 40:48Speaker 1: speaking only in questions. Whenever you're ready, take it.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Away, my king, hast thou called for me? Just I
- 40:56Speaker 4: do wonder if your services might be available to me,
- 41:02Speaker 4: is there ship coming out of a dog? A dog?
- 41:08Speaker 4: Could madam? Yes? Like is the sky blue? Would you
- 41:18Speaker 4: be able to help me? There is no to help me.
- 41:26Speaker 7: With an enemy. I must vanquish.
- 41:30Speaker 4: An enemy who threatens my king. Great question.
- 41:43Speaker 2: I'm not good at atalkable wasn't in there.
- 41:48Speaker 1: But great performances, great character performances. I believed the Shakespearean
- 41:58Speaker 1: back and forth sadly nod. I'm going to go three
- 42:01Speaker 1: out of five points for that one.
- 42:02Speaker 4: We'll take.
- 42:06Speaker 1: The secret is I never give lower than three. So
- 42:08Speaker 1: I don't know if that makes you feel better or
- 42:09Speaker 1: worse worse? Anyway you make it worse worse? Please start,
- 42:18Speaker 1: I keep thinking I'm going to make it better. Okay,

- 42:37Speaker 1: star crossed lovers easy, and your word is cottage core cottage.
- 42:44Speaker 4: That's that felt like one of the more more believable.
- 42:48Speaker 1: All right, so we have star cross lovers speaking only
- 42:51Speaker 1: in questions cottage cars.
- 42:53Speaker 2: You're taken away?
- 42:54Speaker 4: I love?
- 42:55Speaker 5: Could anything in the world The stars, the moon, the
- 42:58Speaker 5: sky compare to thy beauty?
- 43:02Speaker 4: My love? Could anything in the world the words of
- 43:07Speaker 4: all the poets compare to the compliments thou places upon me?
- 43:14Speaker 5: Thou wouldst only look my way? Would thou be so
- 43:19Speaker 5: inclined as to place one gentle kiss upon my cheek?
- 43:25Speaker 4: Wouldst thou help me move this cottage cord to coord
- 43:29Speaker 4: so that I might reach your face?

- 43:55Speaker 3: What would cottage core drinkets mean to a heart not
- 44:00Speaker 3: filled with thy love?
- 44:01Speaker 4: Oh? My love? Dost thou love me above all thy trinkets?

- 45:34Speaker 1: Sister?
- 45:35Speaker 7: You ask, and would I know the answer to this question?
- 45:41Speaker 7: Haven't you studied these things in geography or maps?
- 45:46Speaker 6: Do not know that?
- 45:47Speaker 4: I set that aside to devote all my time to
- 45:50Speaker 4: RIZ developing my riz. Oh, sister, if you if you've
- 45:57Speaker 4: developed your RIZ so thoroughly, perhaps could you use it
- 46:00Speaker 4: to get us out of this situation?
- 46:02Speaker 6: Quick?
- 46:03Speaker 4: Hark plant life? Do you hear my charisma? Why have

- 46:52Speaker 1: way my brain looked was like, oh, he had the
- 46:54Speaker 1: subject of mass subject of math photography, that's what it is.
- 46:58Speaker 4: Sure that could have been good, but I didn't say

- 47:29Speaker 1: I know it was finished with an exit pursued by
- 47:31Speaker 1: a bear, but I still thought that was a five
- 47:33Speaker 1: point scene. I'm giving you, thank you, thank you so much.

- 48:46Speaker 1: called Romeo or Juliet. We're going to play a bit
- 48:50Speaker 1: of an Elizabethan dating game here, where our players will
- 48:53Speaker 1: take it in turns, taking on the persona of a
- 48:56Speaker 1: character from a Shakespeare play their teammate, then ask three
- 49:00Speaker 1: questions to try and identify who they are. Three points
- 49:05Speaker 1: if you get it in one question, two for two,
- 49:07Speaker 1: or one if you need to ask all three questions,
- 49:10Speaker 1: and all questions must be dating game coded like where
- 49:13Speaker 1: would we go on a third date? Or what's a
- 49:16Speaker 1: gift you might get me for my birthday?
- 49:18Speaker 2: Not what player you in? Or who are you sure?
- 49:22Speaker 4: Yeah, we all know that cheaters would try that. Don't

- 49:34Speaker 1: persona of the Shakespeare character I messaged, and Audra asking
- 49:38Speaker 1: the dating game style questions to Meghan up to three
- 49:41Speaker 1: questions up to three points available, Take it away when

- 54:07Speaker 3: special is be able to give me a male heir
- 54:14Speaker 3: that I think that would just like, that's something that
- 54:16Speaker 3: I've never been able to experience with anybody else, and

- 56:27Speaker 4: It was in my head.
- 56:28Speaker 3: I was like, I don't know if this is actually
- 56:30Speaker 3: and now I know it's a cultural touch point. I

- 57:04Speaker 4: about doing a really bad accent. But I don't know.
- 57:06Speaker 3: Please do please give a try. Don't you don't have
- 57:10Speaker 3: to just know that we would be supportive. Okay, Hi, it's.
- 57:15Speaker 6: Great to meet you. I just got out of a
- 57:17Speaker 6: really messy relationship and I'm just looking for, you know,
- 57:20Speaker 6: not a lot of mess.
- 57:21Speaker 4: Do you have a lot of mess? In your history.
- 57:25Speaker 4: I have a lot of mess ad my history. I
- 57:30Speaker 4: have a lot of things that I'm in charge of.
- 57:34Speaker 4: I am a very powerful man. Oh my god, are
- 57:37Speaker 4: you Julius Caesar an accent? Okay, we should do that
- 57:54Speaker 4: next time they put on Julius Caesar.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Congratulations on your three points for the accent, probably.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Mostly darkly earned. Honestly. When you started, I was like,
- 58:10Speaker 4: what accent this?
- 58:12Speaker 2: And then we got there in one word one of
- 58:15Speaker 2: the words.
- 58:16Speaker 10: What was the word?
- 58:18Speaker 4: I don't remember, but there was like a.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Sounding bit. You might have noticed. Those were all historical figures.
- 58:27Speaker 9: There.
- 58:27Speaker 2: Would you like another past, this time with some Shakespeare oss?
- 58:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 58:32Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, I'd be down. All right, I'll send some
- 58:35Speaker 1: more messages. If someone wants to fill the silence, it
- 58:37Speaker 1: will stay in, or we can just cut it all out.
- 58:39Speaker 4: I am Henry the eighth eighty.
- 58:45Speaker 9: I got.
- 58:47Speaker 4: Such great content.
- 58:48Speaker 3: You got Herman's Hermits, like absolutely the three songs.
- 58:53Speaker 4: I know they very litigious. Yeah, we might have to
- 58:57Speaker 4: cut it. I don't know. What a guy. I don't
- 59:06Speaker 4: mean that in a positive face, what a guy. I'm ready.
- 59:13Speaker 4: I'm ready.
- 59:14Speaker 2: We'll see how it goes. We'll see what accents come up?
- 59:17Speaker 4: Okay, I'm not doing this because I don't know.
- 59:22Speaker 2: We're gonna start with the buck Bunnies. Megan for Ultra.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Meghan take on the persona of this this character Ordra
- 59:28Speaker 1: asking the questions dating game style.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Let's take it away.
- 59:32Speaker 4: If you were a type of ice cream, what do
- 59:38Speaker 4: you think that you would be? And why?
- 59:42Speaker 5: Oh yeah, what's the most bitter of all ice creams? Something?
- 59:50Speaker 5: I don't know what, black licorice? Yes, black licorice ice cream.
- 59:57Speaker 2: It's a good answer.
- 59:58Speaker 4: Who's bitter? Everyone is better? I hate ice cream.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: I just want to see it all destroyed it and
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: I'm gonna do a lot of subversive stuff to make
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: sure that happens.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Okay, then it's gonna be somebody like I don't know,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: it's a good name.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: Okay, I've asked another asking me another one.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: Okay, where did you grow up? Can?
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: Like?
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: Is that a question that people ask in dating games?
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: I think I think someone I'll allow it.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. We learn a lot from from our upbringing,
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: our childhood, childhoods. What can you tell me about your childhood?
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: I feel like maybe if I had been nurtured a
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: little better than I don't know. Maybe I wouldn't be
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: so manipulative and everything I grew up somewhere ja'far I
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: mean afar.
- 1:01:12Speaker 7: Far.
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: Sometimes the people who could be close to another context
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: just gouda pop up into my head.
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: But are you Aladdin?
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: I don't keep thinking of that one more question.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: I genuinely do not know if I know who this is?
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: What's your dream wedding location?
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: I don't know if I could really get behind a wedding,
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: because mostly I'm just always trying to break people up.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: I would just, you know, want to fly in there,
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: to fly in there and be like, oh, fellow, you
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: don't deserve.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: The final point.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: It's okay, I don't deserve her. Oh my god, is
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: this Hamlet? No, I'm not. You know, that's not because
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: I got that guy. But you know, I would just
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: fly in there.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: I didn't fly in that.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: Come on the magic carpet like character.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna time you out that on that.
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: This is.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: Who is not a parrot? In a fellow? I feel
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: like I have to clarify a human man.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: I was restricted to just do you know using that
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: about not being able to use outside reference as long
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: as I.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Don't know.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: In the name of the character, and then ideally not
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: the name of the play until the last question.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: And I didn't say the name of the play. I
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: just said something that sounded like.
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: Football.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: You've got to know by now that my whole play.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: And this is just to get as close to cheating
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: as like.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Line fantastic stuff from the Puck Bunnies, even if you
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: scored no points.
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Ovid's a Rosen Kristin guild and Steph, Steph, you are
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: going to be taking on the character here, and Kristin
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: asking the questions, let's go.
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: What would be your perfect date? Oh?
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: You know, I'm just going on one instead of you know,
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: my fate being chosen for me because of my father
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: being dead and that there's certain parameters to how I
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: meet my future person.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: So even just you know, getting to go on a
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: date would be awesome. Is this Bianca from the Shoe?
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: It's not, but that's a good guess.
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: Okay, Next, why are there so many shakespeareacters you can't
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: context because they're dead?
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Dad sense this should be a more well known trope.
- 1:04:23Speaker 7: Okay, Oh yeah, that's that's crazy. Well, then what would
- 1:04:28Speaker 7: your kind of ideal person be like if you could, like,
- 1:04:31Speaker 7: if you could just imagine, if.
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: I could imagine.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: I didn't, you know, get that far my research of myself,
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: but sure, still learning and growing. Yeah, I mean I
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: think it'd be somebody who loves me but then also
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: just happens to pick the golden casket.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Yes from much in.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Ye classic golden casket.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Get the golden casket reference in that I.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Love her, she like really she does. She like turns
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: into a lawyer by the end of that play. Amazing.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: I got to read it. I know I knew nothing
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: about her.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Okay, good stuff. Back on over to puck Monies.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: This time Audra, taking on the persona of the characters,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: megan asking the questions, whenever you're ready take it away.
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: You know, I like somebody who you know takes care
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: of themselves. What do you do for self care?
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: I think most of the time self care for me
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: looks like fucking with the mortals a little bit.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: That's always fun. That's really.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: It fills my spirit just to like be a little
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: like a little tricksy, just whenever I get the chance,
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: just looking for little opportunities in my day. Some people
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: want to give themselves like a little treat every day.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: I like to pull a little trick every day.
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: Okay, are you Puck? I love that guy, not derogatory.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Good stuff, Puck bunnies, And yeah, I wrote these questions
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: and prompts before you came up with your name. Okay,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: one final dating game scenario. Who's the bachelor? Who's the suitor?
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Who can tell? But I do know that Kristen is
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: taking on the persona and Steph is asking the questions,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: so take it away.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: Feel like I need a hoodie? Hi, I like to
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: stay pretty active. What do you do you do anything
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: for exercise? Not not since my dad died.
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: I was like in college before, but now I'm just
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: like comb and I just kind of fucking like go
- 1:06:39Speaker 7: around the castle.
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: I guess I really want you to answer more questions,
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: but I think you're Hamlet.
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: Hamlet. You were like, I need a hoodie, and I
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: was like, Hamlet.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: If we're going emo boy, yea a characters associate with
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: a hoodie, like with the hood up like this, that's Hamlet.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: I'm cross, uh huh. You're not my dad, not even
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: my dad. You're not even my dad, You're my uncle.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Just to create a tiny bit of drama.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: I feel like that hoodie comment was like a bit
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: of a big, clean, full launching into it.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: So I'm going to want to give two points.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: That's fair. That's fair.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: I think we've got I think everyone's cheating.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I had no idea who she made when
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: she said hoodie. It was the college thing that did
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: it for me.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: That's the only person who's not cheating. I believe you, Steph,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: and I was just kind.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: Of looking around my general area. But yeah, that's fair.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: It just makes the schools a little bit closer, a
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: bit more sense to around.
- 1:07:51Speaker 9: I love it.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: I don't believe that that was cheating, but it's in
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: my favor.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: So I agree with you all same. Okay, that is
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: the end of round three.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: I didn't write any kind of Shakespearean reference here for
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: the scores. Anyone got anything, dam.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: Maybe Iago he's manipulating. Well we had just said that.
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: So.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Let's ask manipulate the later scores. Very good, Thank you everyone.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Puck Bunnies are on nineteen points, Rosen Christen Gildensteph are
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: on twenty three points.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: I can't be right.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: I'll check in the edit, but everything can change in
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: the quick fire round. Of course it gets pretty wild.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: But before we get to the quick fire round, let's
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: talk prizes this episode. Star Prize is the concept of language.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Shakespeare invented so many words in the English language, including frugal, gloomy, addicted, jaded, lonely,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: and neglect. But enough about my childhood in the northeast
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: of English, because our winning team will also receive.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: A hatchback switch.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: Can we switch that big for riz? So much more
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: of that?
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Up next is our crucial quick fire around, where we'll
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: find out if our players were born great, achieved greatness,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: or had greatness thrust upon them. I'm calling hr back
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: soon with quick fire around. Our final quick fire around
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: will test your broader pop culture knowledge, and it's called
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: the Iambic pentalmeter, a tool that measures how much Shakespeare
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: you can read whilst walking. Yeah, in this game, I
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: will give our players clues to a piece of meat
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: that was inspired by Shakespeare. Those clues will be if
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: I've done this correctly, a couplets written in Iambic pentameter.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: Whoa nicely done?
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: Thank you again? Took so much time, but I'm not
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: surrendering to the robots. There is, of course a classic
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: gate leapers twist. You need to answer in your best
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: theatrical thespian voice, or I cannot give you the give
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: you iambic pentameter.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Also, that'd be crazy, like I could probably do it,
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: but I'm not going to try.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: Undercaffeinated. It just needs to sound like a horse kind of.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not going to.
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: Be an iambic pentameter, but I am probably going to
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: do this.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: As I answers, just to really get into it.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: You buzz in by yelling out your team name, so
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: let's practice that.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Now. You people have done variations on their names are
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: orange orange, I like that orange.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: That's good. That's good. And Puck Puck Puck, I love it.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: Well, now ours is still longer. Hold on.
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: You're also aheaded points so yeah, well okay, that's true.
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: All right, we'll go a little handicap. You also have
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: the lag as well, so okay. So for example, if
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: I said the pride regal to scar Falls without crown, yes,
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: lion king, it is probably a bit more of a
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: thespian Oh yes.
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: I forgot lesbian. Okay, that's going to be hard.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: Otherwise I can't give you the point.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: The lion king. Now mosa is very ligitious. That's true.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: I love the idea that it's the characters that.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: That's that is some ship Disney. I'm innocent, Yeah, Mouse.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Somebody else feel for to interrupt me at any points.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Let's do this.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Okay, the factions form and click both Shark and Jet.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: How does.
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: What side? Story?
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: It?
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: B Yes, story veering into pirate.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Sister must date Joker to make a list of puck bunnies. Yes,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: Ordre tis ten things I dost hate about the.
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: I don't want to, I don't the name wrong?
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: And you I know what you you're saying there, that's
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: perfect stuff. Next one the.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Fearless Bard of Era's most performed song, though Romeo and
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Juliet not quite Orange.
- 1:12:48Speaker 8: Yes, hey, you gosh, it's what is a beautiful song?
- 1:12:53Speaker 8: Love story by Taylor's wishes, love story than Shepardy style
- 1:12:59Speaker 8: of I heard the Thespians a breakout roll for Bines
- 1:13:09Speaker 8: Tatum does know.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yes, it is that classic She's the Man,
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: She's the Man. Yes, that's my favorite of the adaptations.
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: Actually, b I n d S thinking something born there.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: Okay, we've done the easy ones.
- 1:13:28Speaker 7: Oh.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: A sci fi classic of the fifties. Yes, though also
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: I find inspired by the Tempest r in g Yes.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: It's oh Space Odyssey.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Good.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: Yes, that's a good.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: Yeah from the fifties.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Sie, I know this.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: I'm like, I really should know this?
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Inspired by the Tempest? Any ideas?
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: I work at a video store. This is really embarrassing
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: for me.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: I will I do not on this one. It is
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: forbidden planet.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: Should never have guessed because I want to watch it.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, we might have a female like this, let's exactly,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: but I appreciate fun guesses, even if they're wrong. Okay, yeah,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: all men only pretend to read this book one thousands words.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: It does not me huck tend to read this book.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Anyone know any books that men pretend to read all
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: the time?
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: Probably huck Bunnies. Yes, tis atomic habits. No, I'm thinking,
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: what's his name? Who's the guy the thing over his head?
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Hold on, give me a second. No, I can't look
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: get up to seating.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: Yes, Megan, men are from Mars and women are from.
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: Wait?
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: Okay orang? Is it a David Foster Wallace be a ship?
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: Is it?
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: Well, that's the guy. It's not the book.
- 1:15:06Speaker 7: David Foster Wallace's famed book that I forgot the name
- 1:15:10Speaker 7: of because I'm not a man.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: Yes, that's a good.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: That it's infinite jest, because it is the.
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: Line from Hamlet. Yes, from about yorick.

- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Does grand theft?
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: I know?
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: Did you say it again?
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Yes, behold a long running action RPG so forged by
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: square of enix five by three.
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: Oh rng. Yes, it's the world of woh Craft.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: I love it as a guest, but it's not the

- 1:16:09Speaker 3: Final Fantasy five by three fifteen.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: Yes, Final Fantasy fifteen.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Is adapted by a by I can't remember which one
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: is which, No stop, I need to know this.
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: Final Fantasy fifteen is based on a shakespeare play.
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: Give me a second.
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: I'm my curiosity. I've never I don't know anything about
- 1:16:32Speaker 7: Final Fantasy, but I am. There's a lot of Final fantasies.
- 1:16:35Speaker 7: I know that because you said fifteen. But that's still

- 1:17:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's apparently based off of the Shakespeare play where
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: the guy fucks the robot.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: Robot robot. Everyone knows long the robot.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: It's considered a loose adaptation of the Tempest.
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: That's not right, but directors like, yeah, definitely, that's what
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: I meant. That's what I did that whole time.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Next Clue, Run, Baby, Run, don't ever look back. They'll
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: tear us apart if you give them the chance.

- 1:18:08Speaker 4: but just pretend that I did. It's the correct answer,
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: but I'm not giving you the point.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Okay, Keanu Reeves and River of Phoenix. This state is
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: all yours in this new wave queer flicks. Yeah r
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: G yes, christ.
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: My own private Idaho.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: Yes it was enough. It's my own private idea idea.
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: That I.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: I was enunciating.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: Sorry, yes, doubt turn on me and quick before the buzzer.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: A joke in first round, but is real and true?
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: A horse girl falls for cowboy man. So new first round?
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: What was it?
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: The jokes?
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: But I don't know the adaptation puck?
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: Yes, Meghan, is there possibly an actual movie called Rodeo
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: and Julia?
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: Oh my god, wow, wow, nothing about Chris Sawa? Anybody question?
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: I little guys, I so should have done Okay, that
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: is the buzzer. Before we get to the final scores,
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: I'd like to thank our players. You've all been comedic,
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: a little tragic, but absolutely historical.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: Thank you so much, every thank you fine, so fun.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: And also before we get to the scores, Meghan, we
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: we love being your students in all things improv. We
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: love that we're currently taking Shakespeare improv classes. For anyone
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: who's listening, who lives in Colorado Springs, your core owner
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: of a theater, which is freaking awesome. Where can people
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: had to to check that stuff out and do you
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: want to share anything about the kinds of things that
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: happen at the Peak Improv Theater.
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: Absolutely, thanks for the opportunity for this little plug. Yes,
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: Peakimprov dot Com. That's where we've got all the information
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: about our shows and our classes. We have an improvised
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: shakespeare team that's forming, so pretty soon we're going to have, yeah,
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: a show that will be performing regularly in this genre.
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: And we've got improvised musicals, and we've got Laughter and Legends,
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: a really fun Dungeons and Dragons theme show, and ce
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: adult puppet show, family friendly. I mean, you know, if
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: you can think of it, we probably have it. And
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: if we don't, then please tell us what that is
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: so we could do it. Lots of classes for all
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: different levels and more classes coming up soon and so fun. Yeah,
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: it's a great community, really, and that's the things that
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: has been our heart from the beginning, is to form
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: a community of just really kind and supportive people.
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: And I say that a lot and I will never stop.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Yes, never stop. Everyone is so kind of supportive.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Peekimprov dot Com for classes, tickets, all that good stuff.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Mican, thank you for having me.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Kristen let's talk about Thin Places Radio. I've listened to
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: a few episodes.
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: I love it so much.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: It's so fantastically produced and written. Please share with our
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: listeners all about it, he said.
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: Fantastically produced. Shout out to my producer, Caitlin Bruders.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: She rocks.
- 1:21:34Speaker 7: She's super great. He's my audio engineer and producer. And yeah,
- 1:21:39Speaker 7: it's the two of us and we wear all the hats. Yes,
- 1:21:42Speaker 7: but yes, So we've finished. We have two seasons that
- 1:21:44Speaker 7: you can listen to. Now we're on a break tween
- 1:21:46Speaker 7: seasons two. In season three, well, I work on all
- 1:21:49Speaker 7: my other shit I'm doing, but you can listen to
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: it anywhere that you can listen to a podcast, so
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: and also you can call in, like actually to the show.
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: So it is this like kind of mix like fiction
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: and nonfiction. In the the scenarios that I'm talking about,
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: like the very spooky things that are happening obviously are
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: not real, but a lot of the stories, like sometimes
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: Liz like listeners will make up a story to call in.
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: Sometimes they'll have a real ghost story that they call
- 1:22:13Speaker 7: in with. So there's an actual phone number that you
- 1:22:16Speaker 7: can call in order to leave a voicemail for us
- 1:22:19Speaker 7: that we might put in the podcast.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: So that's the number.
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I'm like, I haven't done the shpiel in
- 1:22:26Speaker 7: a while, but I'm like seven to one seven, three,
- 1:22:28Speaker 7: eight two eight zero nine three perfectly right. Yeah, yes,
- 1:22:33Speaker 7: Now I'm like, was not even right, but probably it
- 1:22:36Speaker 7: was an excellent thespian voice.
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: I can tell you that. Yeah, done it like thirty times,
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: So hopefully that's the number.
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: A link to Thin Places Radio in the show notes.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: And you've also published a novel like Anthropy with the
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: Chronic Illnesses, which older has write that I have a copy.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: Is nice, thank you. I love the paperback cover. Yeah,
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: thank you.
- 1:22:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:58Speaker 7: I was actually just looking at back over and I
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: was like, oh, it's when when you finish a book
- 1:23:03Speaker 7: and you don't think about it for a while. It's
- 1:23:05Speaker 7: like an old, little old friend. But yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 1:23:08Speaker 7: And I'm working on another one right now that I'm
- 1:23:11Speaker 7: editing with my agent that is not fun like that one.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: Fine. Yes, I'm about a third of the way through.
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: Uh huh.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: It's really good and it's really close to my heart
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: as someone who likes the supernatural things, has a chronic illness,
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: and met someone very important to me on Tumblr.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: Wait really that's how you met? Yeah, that's crazy. So
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: it just has like such a beautiful trifecta for me specifically.
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: Oh I'm so glad. Yeah.
- 1:23:43Speaker 7: I mean everything I ever write is kind of about
- 1:23:46Speaker 7: the body or being disembodied.
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: So yeah, that's kind of my whole my whole thing.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: And it's it's a great thing. Thank you so much.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Kristen links podcast and novel in the show notes of
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: this podcast. Stephan also perform a ton at the peak
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: improf Theater. So I'll say check out peakimprof dot com
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: to see Tuned Titans and Whim's Occult. But what I
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: really want to talk about is Team Up, the superhero
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: TTRPG that Johnny Wilson, your husband, designed from the ground up.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: And then we've kind of spent the last like what
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: six to twelve months kind of making the game. How's
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: that experience been for you? And what is Team Up?
- 1:24:26Speaker 6: I'll start with what is Team Up? Team Up is
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: a superhero TCRPG designed specifically with like creativity in mind.
- 1:24:35Speaker 6: So think of a superpower, you can probably do it
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: with this game. Like you you make the rules of
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: what your character is. And I love that so much
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: about it and the creativity that Johnny put into it.
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: The process has been really crazy, and I'm not even
- 1:24:50Speaker 6: the one who made the game, like, I've just been
- 1:24:53Speaker 6: editing and play testing, but it's been wild to see
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: what goes into making something like that. There's a lot
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: of rules, there's been like a lot of nitpicking, but
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: I think we've got it.
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: We've got a good game.
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: And if you want to help us keep testing the
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: beta version, you can go to Patreon and find us there.
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: We've got a couple of recordings on how to create
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: a character, how to play, and you can find the
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: whole manual there too.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely all the resources there on the Patreon. The
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: link will be in the description, and Steph, you will
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: be on the cast for the play show that is upcoming,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: so and I'm sure we'll be mentioning that a ton
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: on this feed because I'm already the biggest fan of
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: everyone involved in it.
- 1:25:35Speaker 6: So, yes, we're really excited about everything that's going on,
- 1:25:39Speaker 6: and hopefully we'll be.
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: In your ear holes more would be like that, get
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: in my ear holes.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Thank you so much, everyone and listeners do support our players.

- 1:26:16Speaker 1: you are our executive producers and patrons of the arts.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's why it's why it's called Patreon.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Just just realize that right in this Wow wow? Okay, well,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: these violent delights have violent ends. So let's get to
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: the final score.
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: To kill us we die, I mean we do, ros
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: and Chris and Guild and stuff do die. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: Those final scores are puck Bunnies finish on very mighty
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: twenty four points.
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: It's a good score, y earned those.
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: But the winners are Rosen Christ and Gilden Stuff with
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: twenty seven points.
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: Yea, well, Ernie, yea, we get we need it is
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: so bad.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Do you know what risk for everyone?
- 1:27:10Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's over me now.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: And on that note, here so much so gross. Subscribe

- 1:27:32Speaker 1: leave us a five star review if you had a
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: good time, and please ignore this sentence if you did not.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: We share this episode with a friend, a Shakespeare fan,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: sir Ian McKellen. We'll be back next time when it'll
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: be necessary that we go eight bits, but until then,
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: I leave you and exit pursued by a twink.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: Goodbye.
