- 0:43Speaker 1: do a whole of that. Hey, that is the you're
- 0:45Speaker 1: in your dining room. What is that artwork behind you?
- 0:48Speaker 1: That's very busy. It's very busy for a dining room,
- 0:53Speaker 1: I know.
- 0:53Speaker 2: But this is Look at the wallpaper too that I chose.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And if you look closely in the piece, like there's
- 0:58Speaker 2: like flowers paint into it, like you see in bast
- 1:02Speaker 2: on the whole thing. I don't know, man, I'm a
- 1:06Speaker 2: busy girl.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Are those kids standing around in McDonald's birthday cake? They
- 1:10Speaker 1: are this I'd see this is where she's done the Lizo.
- 1:14Speaker 1: This is why, this is where, this is where the
- 1:16Speaker 1: little pop of fun comes in. I love that. Well, hey,
- 1:19Speaker 1: I started off being friendly, but I've got a bone
- 1:20Speaker 1: to pick with you. If that's okay.
- 1:23Speaker 2: What happened, Well.
- 1:24Speaker 1: You chose violence when you said something about Aries the
- 1:27Speaker 1: other day, and I am an Aries. I'm going to
- 1:30Speaker 1: read the quote to you. Someone asked you if there's
- 1:33Speaker 1: one star sign that you don't love, and you said Lizo,
- 1:36Speaker 1: and I quote I would say Aries. I know where
- 1:40Speaker 1: that's gonna go. Aries and Sagittarius. It's not that I
- 1:43Speaker 1: don't love your I just know where this is headed.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Like you're gonna bully me. So, I mean, what's the
- 1:50Speaker 1: story there? Who hurt you?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Oh honey, I've been hurt. I think that I just
- 1:58Speaker 2: have dealt with Like it's fire signs besides Leo.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Oh okay, Leo is the.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Only fire gentle. But I feel like fire Signs are
- 2:09Speaker 2: just a little push y'all are just a little shark
- 2:12Speaker 2: with the tongue, you know what I mean. And I
- 2:15Speaker 2: always feel like I'm in high school and you guys
- 2:18Speaker 2: are like the high school bully. But not you guys.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I hate to say this, to you because you're so nice.
- 2:23Speaker 2: You're so nice and you know what look mean, but you're.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Not thank you. No, I will, I will agree with
- 2:30Speaker 1: you as in aries. We do have a little acid
- 2:34Speaker 1: tongue that you can't if you if you back me
- 2:36Speaker 1: against a wall, I'm gonna say shite. No, I M
- 2:39Speaker 1: not regret. You know what I'm saying exactly. Yeah, And
- 2:44Speaker 1: that's the thing.
- 2:44Speaker 2: You will always be like, well, why would you say
- 2:46Speaker 2: this about it? But it's like, y'all know how y'all are,
- 2:48Speaker 2: y'all are in denial?
- 2:50Speaker 1: Ah, I would. I'd also say we're very stop. We're
- 2:53Speaker 1: also very stubborn. Uh, and we don't like being told
- 2:57Speaker 1: that we're not your favorite. So that probably also what's
- 3:00Speaker 1: triggered me a little bit there too, Just so.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You know, I'm sorry, Well you're my favorite. How about that.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Big love to you. Now that that's out of the way,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I feel like we can be friends. We can bury
- 3:09Speaker 1: the hatchet's. It wasn't personal. Congratulations on the new album
- 3:13Speaker 1: and the new song which I am old enough to
- 3:16Speaker 1: remember the OG so I am getting huge nostalgia vibes period.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That was the point. I'm glad you love it well.
- 3:23Speaker 1: The new album is called Bitch and so is a
- 3:25Speaker 1: new song. It's got a little bit of that nineties
- 3:28Speaker 1: Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliott in it. Let's have a listener,
- 3:42Speaker 1: Queen Meredith Brooks, Bitch, that's the original that I grew
- 3:47Speaker 1: up loving. Why that? I feel like you don't say
- 3:52Speaker 1: any everything you do in your aunt is for purpose,
- 3:56Speaker 1: and I want you to tell me about that and
- 3:59Speaker 1: why this song and why the title for the album too.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah. So we were working on this song in particular,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and I got to the bridge, and once I got
- 4:09Speaker 2: to the bridge, it was the final part of the
- 4:10Speaker 2: song they needed to be written, and I was like, hello,
- 4:14Speaker 2: it's right there. I'm a bitch, I'm hello, and the
- 4:17Speaker 2: whole studio went crazy. And I thought that it was like,
- 4:21Speaker 2: really beautiful because it wasn't just a song called bitch
- 4:26Speaker 2: about a bitch, you know. It was a song that
- 4:29Speaker 2: kind of pushed that word forward in a wave of
- 4:32Speaker 2: feminism that had never been done before. And Missy did
- 4:36Speaker 2: the same thing. Missy was like, it's the bitch era,
- 4:38Speaker 2: but we're taking that word back. She literally said that
- 4:41Speaker 2: on a record, her and the Brat And so I
- 4:44Speaker 2: thought that these two women intentionally used that word in
- 4:48Speaker 2: a way that like pushed boundaries and empowered, and so
- 4:52Speaker 2: I thought it was right that the one hundred percent
- 4:55Speaker 2: that bitch took it a step further.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Absolutely, well, you've done a stella. Can I say the
- 5:01Speaker 1: album is out, the song is out. I love it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I want to ask you, not only did you pop
- 5:05Speaker 1: off about aries over the weekend, you were very busy
- 5:09Speaker 1: on Twitter when you are tweet When you're tweeting, right,
- 5:13Speaker 1: do you know you know people are going to talk
- 5:15Speaker 1: about that right? Like, surely you've been around. You've been
- 5:18Speaker 1: around long enough to know that when you pop off,
- 5:21Speaker 1: people are gonna go, she popping off.
- 5:23Speaker 2: It's so funny, I know. But it's I feel like
- 5:26Speaker 2: I get I'm so misunderstood. I feel like there are
- 5:30Speaker 2: tweets that I make that no one even knows about,
- 5:33Speaker 2: Like I'll tweet it and like it doesn't even make
- 5:36Speaker 2: a sound. And then the most random I was like, Oh,
- 5:40Speaker 2: this is fine, I can look for this one because
- 5:42Speaker 2: I have. I was just talking to someone on my
- 5:45Speaker 2: team about it. I was like, oh wow. So like
- 5:47Speaker 2: streaming versus radio radio used to streaming in radio campaigns
- 5:51Speaker 2: used to be hand in hand. Now it's streaming first, Okay,
- 5:54Speaker 2: I was just talking about this and I was like, oh,
- 5:55Speaker 2: let me answer this.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, So the tweet you're talking about, it was you
- 5:59Speaker 1: clap back at someone saying that you're out here doing
- 6:02Speaker 1: your best to be successful in a world where you
- 6:05Speaker 1: need radio stations and social media and streaming and people
- 6:10Speaker 1: are attacking your career.
- 6:11Speaker 2: And it turned into like something I just couldn't control. Yeah,
- 6:15Speaker 2: people put a lot of words in my mouth. They
- 6:18Speaker 2: put a lot of emotions on me, and it's like,
- 6:20Speaker 2: I didn't mean it in a I wasn't complaining at all.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I wasn't making an excuse at all. It's literally just
- 6:26Speaker 2: what it is.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Like.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You know, even three years ago, if you had a single,
- 6:32Speaker 2: there was a radio campaign and a streaming campaign that
- 6:34Speaker 2: went together. Now it's all streaming and then you have
- 6:38Speaker 2: to stream a certain amount before you get a radio campaign.
- 6:40Speaker 2: That's just how it is, and it is what it is.
- 6:43Speaker 2: And I think people don't understand that because they're not
- 6:46Speaker 2: in the industry. They're just on the Internet and they're
- 6:49Speaker 2: just like trying to find ways to invalidate what people say.
- 6:53Speaker 2: But like, I know what I'm talking about. I've been
- 6:55Speaker 2: in this industry for ten years.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I was also going to say, navigating the way of
- 6:59Speaker 1: someone who thinks they know what they're talking about. On
- 7:01Speaker 1: the internet, it is full of people who are professionals.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yet you were you a professor? This is just your
- 7:09Speaker 1: hot take. You don't know shit.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yes, literally, you're not a professional. This is just hot takes.
- 7:15Speaker 2: But I think everyone now has a hot take, and
- 7:18Speaker 2: honestly the takes aren't even that hot anymore. I'm like,
- 7:20Speaker 2: this take is lukewarm hol like room temper. How do you?
- 7:24Speaker 1: How do you? How do you while we're talking about
- 7:26Speaker 1: hot takes, like I had bb Rexter on the show
- 7:29Speaker 1: the other day and people have had lots of hot
- 7:31Speaker 1: takes about her over the years, how do you build
- 7:34Speaker 1: that resilience to people's hot takes on you? Because you know,
- 7:37Speaker 1: as you said, you can say one thing and it
- 7:39Speaker 1: catches fire and people put words in your mouth. Do
- 7:42Speaker 1: you try to correct the record or do you just
- 7:45Speaker 1: let it go?
- 7:46Speaker 2: I think that I used to try to correct, but
- 7:49Speaker 2: it's like you, it only makes it worse a ha.
- 7:54Speaker 2: So for me, I'm like, I know, if someone's wrong
- 7:58Speaker 2: about me. The the best way for someone to be
- 8:01Speaker 2: proven wrong about what they think about me of their
- 8:04Speaker 2: misconception is just by me being myself. So it only
- 8:09Speaker 2: motivates me to just be myself more and more and more.
- 8:12Speaker 1: No, I like that. One last talking point. You've got
- 8:15Speaker 1: a children's book coming out. Yes, you write a book.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I did. I wrote a picture book. It's called Little
- 8:20Speaker 2: Lisso Meet Sasha be Fluting and it's so cute and
- 8:23Speaker 2: I can't wait for it to come out.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Are we gonna moonlight more into books or is this
- 8:27Speaker 1: a one off? Just tick this off the bucket list?
- 8:30Speaker 2: And then I think, I think this is my new calling.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Oh well, I love that. I'm the new Are we
- 8:39Speaker 1: going to have you in Australia. Are you plans to
- 8:41Speaker 1: come here and visit us anytime soon?
- 8:43Speaker 2: You got sim Sam's Colvin Fool, then I'm coming. I'm
- 8:48Speaker 2: like you got fairy bread, I'm coming.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Got that too. I can bring that up for you.
- 8:53Speaker 1: No problems. We would love to have you here. Thanks
- 8:55Speaker 1: for being on the show. Yeah, hie, thank you. Don't
