- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: This portion of the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous
- 0:08Speaker 2: Podcast is presented by Gerber making parents lives easier by
- 0:14Speaker 2: putting our high standards into every pouch Jar and Puff
- 0:19Speaker 2: Babies Love Ashley. We have a lot to catch up on.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We were in Carmel last week, Carmel, California, that is
- 0:29Speaker 2: for our annual Almost Famous trip to the Pebble Beach
- 0:32Speaker 2: pro am m hm.
- 0:35Speaker 3: So first, I want you to tell me about that
- 0:38Speaker 3: and Winnie's first birthday, because I mean first birthday that's
- 0:43Speaker 3: a huge dale. And then we had a trip with
- 0:46Speaker 3: Jaden Tanner this week. So let's talk about some first
- 0:51Speaker 3: when it comes to Winnie's first year, how what was
- 0:56Speaker 3: her first solid food?
- 0:59Speaker 2: Her first solid food was, would avocados be considered solids
- 1:05Speaker 2: like bananas and avocados? Yes, yes, yeah, And but honestly,
- 1:09Speaker 2: I think back, I don't know if I know her
- 1:11Speaker 2: first od I'm sure Jess could answer this, like right
- 1:13Speaker 2: out the top of her head. But when we were
- 1:15Speaker 2: in Italy when he was six months old, and we
- 1:21Speaker 2: let when he like suck on like a hard pizza crust,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and she loved it.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Love, she loved okay because she had no she wasn't
- 1:34Speaker 3: going to like break it off because no, she was.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Gone and we would like take it from her when
- 1:39Speaker 2: it got soft. But I think that would be the
- 1:42Speaker 2: first like sensation of solids that she had. And now,
- 1:46Speaker 2: I mean the girl eats like crazy. I mean she
- 1:50Speaker 2: is a fiend when it comes to food. She loves
- 1:54Speaker 2: food and she here's the cute part. So she takes
- 1:57Speaker 2: a bite to something and if she likes it, which
- 1:59Speaker 2: I haven't known her not to like something yet, she
- 2:02Speaker 2: goes mmmm.
- 2:08Speaker 4: So Hayden is our foodie.
- 2:11Speaker 3: It's just really funny to see him enjoy food, try
- 2:14Speaker 3: a whole bunch of different ones when we were at
- 2:17Speaker 3: Vendanta down in Port of Virata this week. He's like
- 2:19Speaker 3: the kid that will eat hibachi, Like he's trying all
- 2:23Speaker 3: different cuisines and stuff. And when he sees a commercial
- 2:28Speaker 3: on TV for any kind of food, he points and
- 2:31Speaker 3: he goes, mmm, yeah, isn't it hilarious?
- 2:34Speaker 4: Like any fast food.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It's funny to watch a kid because I realize now
- 2:41Speaker 2: why as adults we have the same reactions, like why
- 2:44Speaker 2: wouldn't we have good food? We got m m or whatever,
- 2:47Speaker 2: like that's his nat Like. She hasn't been taught this.
- 2:49Speaker 2: This hasn't been like put in her mind by.
- 2:52Speaker 4: A commercial natural reaction.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It's a natural reaction, just like when she sees something cool.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Whoa yeah, Like that's a natural reaction for her, which
- 3:04Speaker 2: makes sense on why it sticks with us even today.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And I think I'm picking up now on what's natural
- 3:09Speaker 2: and what's not because she hasn't watched any shows. She
- 3:12Speaker 2: doesn't know anything more than like and oh, or here's
- 3:17Speaker 2: another one. She has like a drink of some kind
- 3:19Speaker 2: a pouch or some water and it like quinches her thirst.
- 3:23Speaker 2: She goes, yeah, it's so cute.
- 3:30Speaker 3: So I heard that you guys didn't do a traditional
- 3:34Speaker 3: cake for her first birthday, so she didn't have her
- 3:36Speaker 3: first bite of cake on her first birthday.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I think you could call it a cake. Jessica made
- 3:41Speaker 2: it and it was a sugar free cake.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So it was like, look at you guys, this is
- 3:45Speaker 3: such a first child thing.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Wait till she eats everything. Wait till your second eats everything.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I don't know. Jessica's very like stringent on some things,
- 3:55Speaker 2: and it's not out of like it doesn't feel like
- 3:59Speaker 2: it's out of effort. It's more like she doesn't want
- 4:02Speaker 2: when he having sugar until two years old. It's a
- 4:05Speaker 2: very important thing for for Jess, and I think it
- 4:10Speaker 2: will stick because Jess, you know, has this history of
- 4:15Speaker 2: you know, her relationship with food, okay, and it's why
- 4:20Speaker 2: she's so she actually gets on me, like even when
- 4:24Speaker 2: he being one, Like what I say about food, the
- 4:27Speaker 2: language I use abound food, what kind of food when
- 4:30Speaker 2: he eats and doesn't eat, like the diet she has,
- 4:32Speaker 2: the recipes she's making. I think it will stick. And
- 4:36Speaker 2: a lot of things will get, you know, different with
- 4:38Speaker 2: the second. But I do think food and Jess's desire
- 4:42Speaker 2: to give Winona high quality food that is healthy for
- 4:47Speaker 2: her will stick for every child. Based on my wife's.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Past, Okay.
- 4:54Speaker 3: So I was much more careful with Hayden's diet and
- 4:57Speaker 3: getting him to try.
- 4:58Speaker 4: New foods because of the way that.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Dawson has responded to food, because he turns like one and.
- 5:06Speaker 4: A half and started to get picky.
- 5:08Speaker 3: And I am very much trying to focus on Hayden
- 5:12Speaker 3: not getting picky. I want him to eat all the
- 5:16Speaker 3: good things that he's been eating. One thing that we
- 5:19Speaker 3: did with both kids, because I was very nervous about
- 5:23Speaker 3: starting starting solids.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Not like an avocado. That doesn't make me nervous.
- 5:28Speaker 3: But you know how, you guys did you do baby
- 5:30Speaker 3: lead weaning or whatever the heck it's called.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I don't know what that means.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Okay, So that means like basically, your kid has like
- 5:38Speaker 3: a flank of steak when they don't have teeth, and
- 5:42Speaker 3: they like gnaw and they like gnaw on like huge
- 5:45Speaker 3: carrots and stuff.
- 5:46Speaker 4: And I was like, absolutely not, but you guys did that.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yes, we did that, Okay. That was part of the
- 5:53Speaker 2: Italy trip too. Was like, yeah, that was like get
- 5:55Speaker 2: six months. I think we started to sinking, introduced like
- 5:58Speaker 2: good cuts of meat that she could like suck.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Oh you did do that, okay.
- 6:02Speaker 3: So I just couldn't deal. So I loved using gerbers.
- 6:08Speaker 3: They're puffs, so they have strawberry apple puffs and then
- 6:12Speaker 3: blueberry puffs we use, and then they have melts too,
- 6:16Speaker 3: so they have their mixed berry melts.
- 6:21Speaker 4: All of those things I will still use today if I.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Need the Hayden to just leave me a load for
- 6:26Speaker 3: a second and like him to be distracted. But they
- 6:29Speaker 3: melt in your mouth, but they have like a solid form.
- 6:32Speaker 3: It's like a piece of cereal. That's like how it feels.
- 6:34Speaker 3: But they can't choke on them. Oh you are familiar?
- 6:37Speaker 3: Are they the best distraction? If you need a minute,
- 6:40Speaker 3: you're like, here you go.
- 6:41Speaker 2: The loves a good puff and melt. Yeah this is
- 6:46Speaker 2: And maybe I don't know if you did this or not,
- 6:47Speaker 2: but my wife does this. She'll bring the puffs with
- 6:50Speaker 2: us when we travel. Puffs and melts then big travel things.
- 6:55Speaker 2: But she snacks on them too.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you could have them. They're pretty good. They are.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I can obviously have them. I'm I'm a human, But
- 7:02Speaker 2: like Jessica, like, she'll bring them for her and Winnie, I.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Don't love them melts as much as I like the puffs.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I will say the puffs tastes like cereals.
- 7:12Speaker 4: May I like those?
- 7:14Speaker 3: And then the pouches, Oh my gosh, my kids with
- 7:16Speaker 3: these pouches. So Gerber has a couple of really delicious ones,
- 7:20Speaker 3: the very berry fruit puree and yogurt pouch, and then
- 7:25Speaker 3: the few pure and yogurt strawberry banana pouch. There are
- 7:28Speaker 3: so such hot commodities in my house that I can't
- 7:31Speaker 3: put them in the actual pantry.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I have to put them in.
- 7:34Speaker 3: The top cabinet and then push them back so they're
- 7:37Speaker 3: not even seen by either kid. They go pouch crazy.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, you guys, you can't have like three
- 7:45Speaker 3: pouches in a row. You're supposed to just like have
- 7:46Speaker 3: them basically one a day. And even Hayden, like, I'll
- 7:50Speaker 3: open up the pantry and I'll be like, see, nothing's
- 7:53Speaker 3: in here, and then he'd be like, h h point
- 7:57Speaker 3: to the upward one like he knows.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Yeah, Like that's how well these kids love their Gerber pajas.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah. We I mean, these have been such a staple
- 8:06Speaker 2: in our house for so long now. I mean I
- 8:08Speaker 2: can't even remember when it started, but it feels like
- 8:11Speaker 2: it's been since the beginning. I know it wasn't, but
- 8:14Speaker 2: it seems like it's been since the beginning. And as
- 8:16Speaker 2: I mentioned, Jessica more than me, but I think I
- 8:20Speaker 2: would like to think I care too. I do care.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I just I am not as focused on it or
- 8:25Speaker 2: as intentional about it, but is so passionate about giving
- 8:32Speaker 2: any good clean products. And one of the things I've
- 8:36Speaker 2: learned along the way, which I didn't even think about
- 8:38Speaker 2: before being a dad was that you know, many companies
- 8:42Speaker 2: you don't you know, wanna maybe provide to your child
- 8:45Speaker 2: because they aren't certified and they aren't clean. But I
- 8:47Speaker 2: learned that Gerber has many products that are clean label
- 8:50Speaker 2: projects certified. I like that. I know Jessica likes that
- 8:54Speaker 2: and in it. Actually, it's so it's so foreign to
- 8:58Speaker 2: me because I did it grow up. I don't think
- 9:01Speaker 2: our time in childhood where people were super concerned about
- 9:04Speaker 2: what was being put in our bodies. I think it
- 9:06Speaker 2: was like, just eat it and be happy and you stop,
- 9:10Speaker 2: you know, crying.
- 9:11Speaker 3: We looked at calorie content, that was it calorie yeah, exactly.
- 9:15Speaker 2: And now there is such a focus on good, healthy,
- 9:18Speaker 2: clean products for infants, which is I mean, it makes
- 9:22Speaker 2: so much sense and it's so amazing that it's right
- 9:25Speaker 2: there in front of you. And these pouches obviously are
- 9:29Speaker 2: a great way to get the calories, to get the
- 9:32Speaker 2: nutrition and also know that you know when when you
- 9:35Speaker 2: sucking it down that she's getting something you know, good
- 9:38Speaker 2: and healthy.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I always had a with Hayden, especially since I mentioned
- 9:42Speaker 3: that I was trying to do so much better with him.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I made a lot of my own homemade.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Meals for him when he was going the transition from
- 9:52Speaker 3: I guess just formula honestly to solids. I made like
- 9:56Speaker 3: all these elaborate pures, and then of course on the
- 9:59Speaker 3: go would love to have the pouches. So one other
- 10:04Speaker 3: thing I want to ask you about with the with
- 10:07Speaker 3: the first things is what was her first word?
- 10:11Speaker 2: Her first word was baba.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Well that's not a word for bottle.
- 10:17Speaker 2: What is it for brother? Brother? Wa?
- 10:20Speaker 4: So she's asking for a brother already, ah bro.
- 10:24Speaker 2: She wakes up every morning still, this has been four months,
- 10:29Speaker 2: three months in the making. She wakes up every morning
- 10:32Speaker 2: and I can hear her get up. Jessica gets her up,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and then I get up kind of like right after she.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I hear her yell baba baba, and then Whalen comes
- 10:41Speaker 2: a running and then they say good morning. It's wild.
- 10:46Speaker 2: But I think the first, I mean, her first clear
- 10:48Speaker 2: word was I mean you could say mama. Jessica worked
- 10:53Speaker 2: really hard on that one, Dada, baba and h and
- 10:58Speaker 2: now she's getting it's really cute. She says thank you,
- 11:02Speaker 2: So she says it all long.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Well you know there she is six months younger than
- 11:08Speaker 3: Hayden and already more advanced.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Thank you yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 2: She gives you like a toy and when she's playing
- 11:17Speaker 2: and she goes thank you, it's very cute.
- 11:21Speaker 4: So cute, yeah, so cute.
- 11:24Speaker 3: It wasn't Hayden's first word, but he's been saying Disney lately,
- 11:28Speaker 3: which is hilarious. Oh yeah, whenever, this is like your kid,
- 11:33Speaker 3: just like you know, she eats steak and she doesn't
- 11:36Speaker 3: watch TV. And I'm like, when he sees food commercials,
- 11:39Speaker 3: who goles you? And then when he sees the Disney Castle,
- 11:42Speaker 3: he goes.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Disney.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, i mean, who knows what the right way to
- 11:49Speaker 2: do it is. But it's hilarious. And for so long
- 11:54Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, we're not going to do screen time,
- 11:56Speaker 2: and we're not for a while, but there there are
- 12:01Speaker 2: moments where I'm like, oh yeah, that sounds nice, like
- 12:03Speaker 2: give her, give her the iPad like this. This chick's
- 12:06Speaker 2: been crawling and moving across our floors and standing up
- 12:10Speaker 2: and everything for the last few months, and it's exhausting.
- 12:14Speaker 2: When she's home with me during the day, she is
- 12:17Speaker 2: a like a tornado of chaos. In my office, which
- 12:21Speaker 2: is the one place that's not baby proofed right now
- 12:24Speaker 2: is my office because it really just like can't be.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what i'd do.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Yeah, Like, are those things behind you bolted to the wall.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah, she's like torn in this office. No goodness, No,
- 12:35Speaker 2: you got it.
- 12:35Speaker 4: You gotta do it.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I know that's a good that's actually a really you
- 12:39Speaker 2: sound like my wife.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Sorry to call you out.
- 12:41Speaker 3: You don't have to worry about it because she just
- 12:43Speaker 3: started she just started walking.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you sound like my wife. There are there here
- 12:49Speaker 2: in our house. They are ready. Everything is ready to
- 12:52Speaker 2: be mounted to walls. I have made strides, but not
- 12:56Speaker 2: to completion on the projects that need to be done.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I will say all the corners of our tables are
- 13:04Speaker 2: rounded now with a pad.
- 13:06Speaker 4: We never did that.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's smart because she hits her head and she
- 13:10Speaker 2: doesn't panic. But yeah, you know, there are so many
- 13:14Speaker 2: first right now. Obviously, Ashley, you just got back from
- 13:17Speaker 2: a trip with Jaden Tanner, and your kids aren't maybe
- 13:21Speaker 2: having their first experiences. But I guess I am curious,
- 13:25Speaker 2: are you past the first stage or are there're still
- 13:28Speaker 2: first happening for all of you?
- 13:31Speaker 4: Well, there's always gonna be a first, you know.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I remember being so stressed about getting Dawson to speak,
- 13:38Speaker 3: and I'm just like, how do you teach someone how
- 13:40Speaker 3: to speak? And now he says all these things and
- 13:43Speaker 3: I'm like, how did you ever even learn what that
- 13:45Speaker 3: word is? I really don't know.
- 13:47Speaker 4: It's like I ever like told you what the word like.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Blush okay for example, Okay, he probably doesn't know what
- 13:53Speaker 3: blushes like pencil Okay, he said the word pencil the
- 13:55Speaker 3: other day, and I'm like, did I ever say this
- 13:59Speaker 3: is a versus? Like this is a marker or a cramon,
- 14:02Speaker 3: like this is a pencil? Like you just they know
- 14:04Speaker 3: these things and it's so crazy. So there's always first
- 14:08Speaker 3: to be had because you're always teaching them something new.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Like yesterday I taught him tic tac toe on the plane?
- 14:14Speaker 2: Yeah, how long did that distract him?
- 14:16Speaker 4: For fifteen to twenty minutes? I honestly was the one
- 14:19Speaker 4: getting tired.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I think he could have gone on for and I
- 14:22Speaker 3: was just like kind of like dazing out, and I
- 14:24Speaker 3: was like, all right, you want to watch a movie again?
- 14:26Speaker 4: Because it was like ten thirty and it's been a
- 14:29Speaker 4: long day.
- 14:31Speaker 3: But yeah, so I would say that traditional first like
- 14:35Speaker 3: first steps, first, food, first, ward and all that that
- 14:37Speaker 3: is technically over and I'm okay, with that, I think
- 14:42Speaker 3: it's just more fun as they get older and more advanced.
- 14:45Speaker 3: But anyway, yeah, we had a trip with Jaden Tanner
- 14:48Speaker 3: and that is a non traditional first that we had.
- 14:50Speaker 3: They had their first trip to Vedanta, which is where
- 14:54Speaker 3: I kind of say Jared and I met, Like technically
- 14:56Speaker 3: we met at ply Escandida we did, but you know,
- 14:59Speaker 3: the Porta airt area. Last time, when Jared and I
- 15:02Speaker 3: were down there almost a year ago for Tanya's wedding,
- 15:06Speaker 3: we were like, we have to take the kids here.
- 15:08Speaker 3: With Jaden Tanner and their kids, it was really really fun.
- 15:13Speaker 3: It was a lot of travel because it was six
- 15:16Speaker 3: and a half hours in the air basically with the kids.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you live in a very corner part of the country,
- 15:23Speaker 2: that's the problem.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Yes, it's hard.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I know Jade and Tanner only had four hours in
- 15:27Speaker 3: the air and that's a big difference, especially when you
- 15:28Speaker 3: have like a four they're four to eight or they're
- 15:31Speaker 3: five to eight.
- 15:32Speaker 4: That's the span of their kids, and with a four
- 15:34Speaker 4: year old and a one and a half year old,
- 15:36Speaker 4: that is a lot of airtime.
- 15:38Speaker 3: You know, you guys went to Italy, which is crazy.
- 15:40Speaker 3: What your child is very easy young lady.
- 15:44Speaker 2: We just had our first birthday this last week, she
- 15:46Speaker 2: turned one, and I think afterwards Jessica and I decided
- 15:49Speaker 2: and you tell me if you think this is wrong
- 15:51Speaker 2: when it comes to throwing a party, Yeah, the first
- 15:55Speaker 2: does feel. It was felt good to do. We had
- 15:58Speaker 2: a ton of people show up, which is so fun.
- 16:02Speaker 2: We did this thing. Here's an idea for anybody. We
- 16:06Speaker 2: did a like a build a bear session like section
- 16:09Speaker 2: for all the little kids, and that's kind of popular
- 16:12Speaker 2: for anybody twelve and under and really for anybody. It
- 16:15Speaker 2: was fun. So we did a stuff a whalen, so
- 16:17Speaker 2: we had like little whalens made and then we had
- 16:20Speaker 2: like the foam set up that's so cute stuff. And
- 16:24Speaker 2: that was like because I didn't know what to do
- 16:25Speaker 2: for a first birthday. Mostly it was like a boozy brunch.
- 16:28Speaker 2: It's for the parents, it's for the adults. But we're
- 16:32Speaker 2: glad we did it. But I think we'll do the
- 16:33Speaker 2: first birthday, maybe a fifth, but definitely like then once
- 16:37Speaker 2: they like when he starts making friends, we'll start to
- 16:40Speaker 2: do it again, like maybe ten, we'll throw another party.
- 16:44Speaker 4: That's my thought too.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I think Instagram puts a lot of pressure on parents
- 16:48Speaker 3: to have to do a birthday party.
- 16:50Speaker 4: For their kid every year.
- 16:52Speaker 3: And this year we asked Austin, like, what do you
- 16:55Speaker 3: want because he just turned four a couple weeks ago,
- 16:58Speaker 3: and he just kept saying, I want Back to the
- 17:00Speaker 3: Future cake, Okay, and that's all I That's what I
- 17:03Speaker 3: did for him. That's all I did for him. But
- 17:05Speaker 3: like that was his big gift. He had two Back
- 17:08Speaker 3: to the Future cakes, one here and then one in Virginia.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Last year he kept saying, I want a Chuck E
- 17:14Speaker 3: Cheese birthday party, and that's what we did for him.
- 17:17Speaker 3: So it's like whatever he asked for, we gave him
- 17:20Speaker 3: the best birthday week here, but we didn't have a
- 17:22Speaker 3: traditional party. He went to Monster Trucks with Jared, and
- 17:25Speaker 3: then he went to a Capital's game, and he went
- 17:28Speaker 3: to his favorite play places, and he had lunch at Chucky's.
- 17:32Speaker 4: He did like all the things that we didn't do a.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Birthday party party for him, because like, yeah, they don't
- 17:38Speaker 3: really make good friends that they care about hanging out
- 17:41Speaker 3: with until they're older. With Dawson, like his school friends,
- 17:46Speaker 3: like he gets along with him in school.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Whatever, I'm like.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Do you want to hang out with him? In real life,
- 17:50Speaker 3: Like do you want to go to the park with him?
- 17:52Speaker 3: It's like, no, they're school Frad's Oh I say that
- 17:55Speaker 3: about school, It's like, you know, they're very opinionated. And
- 17:59Speaker 3: if I were to have a party, I would just
- 18:00Speaker 3: have like his cousins. So it's like, no, I don't
- 18:02Speaker 3: have to have a part all the time.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I think the lesson there is not everything you see
- 18:07Speaker 2: on social media is necessary or the most helpful or
- 18:10Speaker 2: healthy option for your family.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Exactly. He didn't want that. He didn't want a party
- 18:17Speaker 4: this year.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Hey, I do want to mention one last time here.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Gerber is sponsoring this segment because we and both of
- 18:34Speaker 2: our households love Gerber. They have sent some stuff to
- 18:40Speaker 2: our house even though we have been buying it for
- 18:43Speaker 2: months at our local stores. But they did send some
- 18:46Speaker 2: stuff made when he very happy. I know it makes
- 18:49Speaker 2: Ashley's kids very happy as well. A ton of different
- 18:55Speaker 2: recipes that are included in the pouches, the melts and
- 18:59Speaker 2: if for four years old only. They do have a
- 19:04Speaker 2: very erry fruit puree and yogurt pouch and getams.
- 19:09Speaker 4: The gettams are really good. They taste like animal crackers.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I love it. I love it so we saw.
- 19:14Speaker 4: Them on the plane. They're great plan snacks.
- 19:17Speaker 2: But the pouches, the melts and the puffs are a
- 19:20Speaker 2: staple in our household and especially when we travel. They
- 19:24Speaker 2: are chef's kiss good. You've been listening to the Ben
- 19:28Speaker 2: and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast brought to you by Gerber,
- 19:31Speaker 2: providing the nutrition babies need, the taste they love, and
- 19:35Speaker 2: the support for parents. But we actually have a lot
- 19:40Speaker 2: of Bachelor Nation headlines to jump into as well today,
- 19:44Speaker 2: So to start with this one, a former Bachelor is
- 19:47Speaker 2: making it down the aisle for the very first time.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Former Bachelor Jake Pavelka is engaged.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Congratulations to Jake. He was engaged to be in it,
- 19:57Speaker 3: wasn't he? So is it it too early for us
- 20:01Speaker 3: to be saying he's making it down the aisle? Sorry, sorry, Jake,
- 20:06Speaker 3: just poking fun. So he's a pilot turned entrepreneur and
- 20:10Speaker 3: he's forty eight now.
- 20:12Speaker 4: They've been dating for two years.
- 20:13Speaker 3: She's forty one and she works in aerospace in defense contracts.
- 20:18Speaker 4: That's like, whoa hardcore? That's awesome.
- 20:23Speaker 3: They got engaged on November twenty second, and they recently
- 20:27Speaker 3: revealed this to Exclusive People Exclusively in the month between
- 20:34Speaker 3: picking up Amy's rowing. In proposing, Jake says that he
- 20:37Speaker 3: went back and forth on whether to do it in
- 20:39Speaker 3: a big, extravagant way or do something intimate and simple,
- 20:44Speaker 3: and he said that he went with the second option.
- 20:47Speaker 3: After dinner at Drake's Hollywood They're nearby, which is nearby
- 20:53Speaker 3: their apartment in Dallas, Texas, he just popped the question
- 20:55Speaker 3: when they arrived home. We went and had a great dinner.
- 20:58Speaker 3: We laughed, had champagne, We took anw We're back to
- 21:00Speaker 3: our apartment. I had rose petals on the ground and
- 21:03Speaker 3: I set up a table with candles. Walking to the apartment,
- 21:07Speaker 3: she was like, what's going on here? Did somebody break
- 21:10Speaker 3: into our apartment? She was looking at the table and
- 21:12Speaker 3: trying to figure out how the candle gotlet That's actually
- 21:15Speaker 3: a really good question.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Who went in there and did it? She said? He
- 21:18Speaker 4: said that.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Then she turned around and he was down on one
- 21:21Speaker 3: knee with a really pretty ring, and I asked her
- 21:24Speaker 3: to marry me. She kind of gasped, muttered, yes. This
- 21:27Speaker 3: is very descriptive, very novel of Jake. It was sweet
- 21:32Speaker 3: and intimate, and I definitely made the right choice in
- 21:35Speaker 3: keeping it private. A really special moment.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I've been able to meet Jake Pavelka. I don't know
- 21:42Speaker 2: who knows about this or if we've mentioned it before,
- 21:44Speaker 2: but there is a was a slot machine or still
- 21:47Speaker 2: is a slot machine. That is I was with you,
- 21:49Speaker 2: then you were with me yep, and we did the
- 21:53Speaker 2: slot machine unveiling and he's one of the other bachelors
- 21:56Speaker 2: that are part of this slot machine. So I got
- 21:58Speaker 2: to meet Jake there. Nice guy. Rachel Lindsay, I saw
- 22:02Speaker 2: this headline. I don't know why I've been just like
- 22:05Speaker 2: so curious about this breakup because it feels like it's
- 22:08Speaker 2: so much more messy than what we're actually seeing, which
- 22:14Speaker 2: is fair. It's a divorce. I don't know if I
- 22:18Speaker 2: need to be in the midst of anybody's divorce, but
- 22:20Speaker 2: I have been curious about how this has played out
- 22:22Speaker 2: because right away he got contentious. Rachel Lindsay says she
- 22:27Speaker 2: felt powerless over not having a prenup with ruthless x Brian.
- 22:33Speaker 2: This ruthless is.
- 22:35Speaker 4: A ruthless cooked. Yeah, it's a strong word.
- 22:39Speaker 3: So she was on the Pop Syllabus podcast this past
- 22:42Speaker 3: Thursday and she said, I'm free. I felt powerless that
- 22:46Speaker 3: I didn't have a prenup. And I've been reading some
- 22:48Speaker 3: of the comments under these divorce posts and a lot
- 22:51Speaker 3: of people are.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Like, how is she?
- 22:53Speaker 3: Is she an attorney who didn't have a prenup? You know,
- 22:59Speaker 3: especially in the situation that they got married, and you know,
- 23:01Speaker 3: she was the bachelor at and she was on extra
- 23:04Speaker 3: and all that stuff. So they've been split up for
- 23:09Speaker 3: two years. They were just finalized a divorce in January.
- 23:13Speaker 3: In the divorce decree, I guess it's like the brief, right,
- 23:18Speaker 3: Rachel was ordered to pay Brian about thirteen thousand dollars
- 23:22Speaker 3: each month in temporary alimony, fifteen thousand for his attorney's
- 23:32Speaker 3: fees okay in general, right, not each month, but okay,
- 23:34Speaker 3: fifteen thousand for his attorney sees in five thousand for
- 23:37Speaker 3: forensic expert expenses, which I guess means them going through
- 23:42Speaker 3: all of the things that they had done together and
- 23:45Speaker 3: owed together and all that. She made her final support
- 23:49Speaker 3: payment the last month. Finally free, she wrote on Instagram,
- 23:53Speaker 3: closing one chapter literally writing.
- 23:55Speaker 4: The next she has a book that's going to come out.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Would I will be reading this book if it's about
- 24:00Speaker 3: all these true details? She said he was ruthless about it.
- 24:06Speaker 3: There was no compromising.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 24:09Speaker 3: I don't mean to make some of these divorce entertainment.
- 24:11Speaker 3: But she's open about it. She's calling him ruthless. He
- 24:15Speaker 3: was ruthless about it. There was no compromising. I want
- 24:18Speaker 3: to write all about it. I do want to tell
- 24:20Speaker 3: that story, but I want the divorce book that I
- 24:24Speaker 3: was looking for. I want to talk about I want
- 24:28Speaker 3: to talk about other book essays. I want to tell
- 24:32Speaker 3: readers in each essay a story about what happened. She
- 24:37Speaker 3: says she wants to write a book of essays highlighting
- 24:40Speaker 3: her post divorce community, as well as the societal pressures
- 24:44Speaker 3: that drove her to marriage to marriage in the first place.
- 24:48Speaker 3: She said, I want to talk about dating in my forties.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I was thirty nine when I got divorced. What does
- 24:52Speaker 3: that look like. I want to talk about fertility. I've
- 24:54Speaker 3: never told that story. I do want to know about
- 24:56Speaker 3: that too, because I think we all kind of we're
- 24:59Speaker 3: talking about when she was thirty nine and got divorced,
- 25:03Speaker 3: not you know, because I remember her discussing that it
- 25:08Speaker 3: was a month or two before they announced their split,
- 25:12Speaker 3: that they were talking about trying to get pregnant. So
- 25:16Speaker 3: she's finally going to answer those questions soon.
- 25:19Speaker 2: It's I read somewhere that it was she had to
- 25:22Speaker 2: pay off until it reached a half a million. Do
- 25:24Speaker 2: you know if that's true?
- 25:26Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know. Well, I don't think so, because
- 25:29Speaker 3: if you do the math, well, if you do the
- 25:30Speaker 3: math on that she had to do fifteen, she had
- 25:34Speaker 3: to do about thirteen thousand every month times two months,
- 25:37Speaker 3: I mean, for two years.
- 25:39Speaker 2: It's not a small amount of money. I am curious
- 25:42Speaker 2: and somebody out there could explain it to me. How
- 25:44Speaker 2: did they decide that she owed him that much money?
- 25:48Speaker 2: I mean, is it just by the income disparity? Is
- 25:52Speaker 2: that how this happens?
- 25:55Speaker 3: I guess so, because he filed for spousal support because
- 25:58Speaker 3: they were living primarily off her income. It was if
- 26:01Speaker 3: we did that in math, it's three hundred and eighteen
- 26:04Speaker 3: thousand that she's paid him over the past two years.
- 26:07Speaker 3: And that's not including the attorney's fees and stuff. And
- 26:12Speaker 3: I do want to say this one thing. This is
- 26:16Speaker 3: a comment that Brian made. This is a long time
- 26:18Speaker 3: ago July twenty twenty four. He said we didn't spend
- 26:21Speaker 3: enough time with each other. In my estimation, we saw
- 26:25Speaker 3: the other person mainly on Instagram, although we lived in
- 26:28Speaker 3: the same house.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It's it's I mean, let there's a reason the divorce
- 26:33Speaker 2: is happening, right, I mean, that doesn't sound like a
- 26:36Speaker 2: healthy relationship. If you're keeping up with your spouse who
- 26:40Speaker 2: you're living in the same house with through social media,
- 26:45Speaker 2: I would say that's probably a red flag for Hey,
- 26:48Speaker 2: things need to change somehow, someway. This the final thing
- 26:53Speaker 2: I want to close out here. Rachel did make a
- 26:57Speaker 2: quote and said my divorce was public and messy for
- 26:59Speaker 2: a reason, and learn from me. That's what she says
- 27:03Speaker 2: leading up to the release of her book about all
- 27:05Speaker 2: the things Ashley's already mentioned. Moving on to another bachelorette,
- 27:11Speaker 2: Claire Crawley. Claire Crawley addresses pregnancy rumors after her husband
- 27:16Speaker 2: held her stomach and kissing pick.
- 27:18Speaker 4: It's pretty simple.
- 27:20Speaker 3: She posted a picture around Valentine's Day of her husband
- 27:25Speaker 3: holding just holding her stomach like basically like her waist area,
- 27:29Speaker 3: the front of her waist and then captioned it heart
- 27:33Speaker 3: times three and she was referring to her him and
- 27:38Speaker 3: their daughter who's two, and she goes, wow, I didn't
- 27:43Speaker 3: realize that I couldn't post a picture of my husband
- 27:46Speaker 3: touching my stomach when he kissed me without getting you know,
- 27:49Speaker 3: pregnancy rumors.
- 27:51Speaker 4: No one's pregnant here.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Kelsey Anderson says she would throw up if she had
- 27:57Speaker 2: to rewatch this moment from her Bachelor season.
- 28:00Speaker 3: They recently did an interview with People magazine Kelsey and
- 28:03Speaker 3: Joey and They said. The question was what on screen
- 28:07Speaker 3: moment from your TV history do you still love to
- 28:10Speaker 3: watch or never hope to see again. Kelsey said, I
- 28:13Speaker 3: hope I never have to watch Joey kiss another girl again.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I'd throw up. And then he said, that's so fair.
- 28:19Speaker 3: I do sneakily watch our engagement moment. I could just
- 28:23Speaker 3: see how excited I was to start my life with Kelsey.
- 28:26Speaker 4: That was such a pure moment. That is so cute.
- 28:31Speaker 4: You don't watch Anything Over, do you?
- 28:33Speaker 2: No? I haven't seen it.
- 28:35Speaker 4: I watch you wouldn't. I mean, it make no sense
- 28:41Speaker 4: for you to watch Anything Over again? But maybe Caitlin
- 28:43Speaker 4: season would be funny. Wouldn't that be funny?
- 28:45Speaker 2: There's moments if I could like find the exact moments
- 28:48Speaker 2: that I'd actually love for Jessica to even see and
- 28:50Speaker 2: think it'd be funny to like rip on me as
- 28:52Speaker 2: a young mid twenty year old.
- 28:54Speaker 3: But yeah, I have we should watch the sex Talk date.
- 29:00Speaker 2: She should. Actually I might find this.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Never she's seen that.
- 29:05Speaker 2: She's never seen it. I guarantee you Jessica's never seen
- 29:09Speaker 2: more than a minute and a half of any time
- 29:12Speaker 2: I've been on The Bachelor, bachelortt or Winter Games. Never.
- 29:15Speaker 4: That's crazy, but she will.
- 29:17Speaker 3: She walked into your mom watching the show and then
- 29:20Speaker 3: she said that's a guy I would date.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's about the extent of what.
- 29:23Speaker 3: She says it. Yeah, no way, Oh my gosh, you
- 29:27Speaker 3: have to watch some parts. Then that is the most
- 29:29Speaker 3: endearing thing ever. I mean I bring this up like
- 29:31Speaker 3: every six months.
- 29:32Speaker 2: If you find it, send it to me.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Okay, if you find it, I'll go search for it
- 29:36Speaker 4: for Yeah, she I'll go download on Apple.
- 29:39Speaker 2: She just has. I mean, I don't think we and
- 29:42Speaker 2: there's so it's so weird. I think it's one of
- 29:44Speaker 2: the weirder things in our life. Is like that chapter
- 29:48Speaker 2: has not discussed much in our house, Like The Bachelor
- 29:51Speaker 2: and Bachelortte are just not a conversation piece in our
- 29:54Speaker 2: home ever. But it is such a like pivotal season
- 29:59Speaker 2: of My Life. And obviously she hears about it when
- 30:03Speaker 2: we'round about and she doesn't care. She plays long or
- 30:07Speaker 2: does whatever. But we've never discussed it long enough for
- 30:10Speaker 2: me to be like, let me find this clip. She
- 30:13Speaker 2: just it's not a we never talk about it. Final
- 30:27Speaker 2: headline of Today, Tia Booth shares excitement over upcoming breast surgery.
- 30:34Speaker 3: You know, I love transparency when it comes to plastic surgery.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Tia got on her Instagram story and so that she's
- 30:42Speaker 3: getting her new boobs in the next two weeks, and
- 30:45Speaker 3: I am hype. She said, catch me never wearing a
- 30:49Speaker 3: real bra ever again. She said she's getting a smaller implant,
- 30:52Speaker 3: which implies that she already has some other bigger ones
- 30:55Speaker 3: in there.
- 30:56Speaker 4: A lift, an internal mesh bra. It's kind of like
- 31:00Speaker 4: an inside bra.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Really, that's the thing.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Well, you know, yes it is.
- 31:06Speaker 3: I didn't know that are small boobs in, you know,
- 31:10Speaker 3: I think it's just kind of like all boobs are in.
- 31:12Speaker 2: It just seems like every time on this show, you know,
- 31:15Speaker 2: we talk when we talk about like breast surgery, it's downsizing. Now.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Obviously some of that has been medical and necessities, but
- 31:23Speaker 2: also sometimes is just for the own benefit of the person.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I don't think we've even broke down anybody being like, yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 2: I'm getting double the sales. Yeah.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I think that everybody these days is kind of into
- 31:39Speaker 3: like enhancing and not Pamela Anderson, you know what I mean,
- 31:43Speaker 3: Like nobody wants to like be looked at and for
- 31:47Speaker 3: people to be like those are fake boobies. I think
- 31:49Speaker 3: everybody wants to be able to feel like they could
- 31:51Speaker 3: naturally pull them off, you know what I mean.
- 31:53Speaker 4: It's kind of just the trend in all things.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Just to look like maybe you're just slightly touched preservation.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Is in what a weird mental as we close up here,
- 32:07Speaker 2: does it feel like a mental like switch up? Because
- 32:12Speaker 2: you grew up in the era where it was like
- 32:14Speaker 2: the bigger, the better, right, the yeah, And now you're
- 32:19Speaker 2: an adult and it's like, no, let's just go for
- 32:21Speaker 2: the like, like you said, the enhancement inconvenience and the
- 32:26Speaker 2: ability to look good, feel good and you know, not
- 32:30Speaker 2: have these weights hanging off my chest. It has to
- 32:35Speaker 2: be weird, right, I mean, yeah, you probably grew up
- 32:39Speaker 2: being like I want the biggest ones.
- 32:43Speaker 3: My TikTok shop is showing me so many big boobies
- 32:46Speaker 3: that it makes me like be like, should I get
- 32:48Speaker 3: some boobies?
- 32:49Speaker 2: Wait? Why is your algorithm showing you that?
- 32:51Speaker 1: No?
- 32:52Speaker 3: Okay, so TikTok Shop not my algorithm. Well, I mean
- 32:55Speaker 3: it's certain agree the algorithm, but it's all these girls
- 32:58Speaker 3: like the nicest, fullest, and then the tiniest waste is
- 33:02Speaker 3: very nineties in like early two thousands coded they're not
- 33:07Speaker 3: ever done of these are real boobies anyway. Yeah, I
- 33:11Speaker 3: think trends are just always changing, and I think that
- 33:13Speaker 3: overall people are just like, don't make your body a trend.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Do whatever you want. Though at the same time, so
- 33:20Speaker 3: everything takes you feel you're most confident and beautiful.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's a good lesson, though, it is. I think you
- 33:27Speaker 2: just spoken to some like if any younger people are listening,
- 33:31Speaker 2: I think what that lesson is is, Hey, what is
- 33:33Speaker 2: cool now might not be cool when you're thirty five
- 33:36Speaker 2: years old, and so be confident in the body that
- 33:41Speaker 2: you have, and you know, keep it healthy and happy.
- 33:47Speaker 2: But know that if you're sitting there at home you're like,
- 33:49Speaker 2: I just don't have this thing that I wish I
- 33:52Speaker 2: had in twenty years. We could flop right back and
- 33:56Speaker 2: you could be rocking and rolling exactly. That's good exactly.
- 34:01Speaker 2: It's a good listen for all of us. Hey, this
- 34:03Speaker 2: has been the Almost Famous podcast. Thank you to Bachelor
