- 0:01Speaker 1: Now on the Voice of New York has the Mark
- 0:04Speaker 1: Simone Show on seven tenor.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Well, hey, there's a lot happening. We'll get to Cardinal
- 0:14Speaker 2: Dolan is leaving. That's very bad news. We'll get to
- 0:18Speaker 2: Brown University that president should be leaving. Just horrible job
- 0:22Speaker 2: she's done. We'll get to President Trump. We'll get to
- 0:25Speaker 2: the speech last night, a bit of a dud, but
- 0:29Speaker 2: we'll get to something else he did yesterday that is
- 0:32Speaker 2: going to upset everybody. It's not the right thing to do,
- 0:35Speaker 2: you shouldn't do it, but it's good that it just
- 0:38Speaker 2: drives these democrats in the media absolutely crazy. We'll get
- 0:42Speaker 2: to that, We'll get to Nick Reiner, and we'll get
- 0:46Speaker 2: to Jack Smith and a whole lot more. Hey, this
- 0:49Speaker 2: just breaking this morning. The Oscars scene on ABC TV
- 0:54Speaker 2: for decades decades. Oscars Sunday Night, ABC, Oscars Channel seven,
- 1:00Speaker 2: ABC TV for decades and decades. And I think before that,
- 1:05Speaker 2: in its first few years, was NBC. I think I
- 1:07Speaker 2: think that's why Bob Hope was the host in Johnny Carson.
- 1:10Speaker 2: But it moved to ABC where it's been for decades. Well,
- 1:14Speaker 2: they lost the Oscars, They've got it for the next
- 1:16Speaker 2: two years, but then it moves to YouTube. YouTube got
- 1:25Speaker 2: the oscars. Now, YouTube is really taken over television. You know,
- 1:30Speaker 2: as a network, TV completely dies and has fewer and
- 1:34Speaker 2: fewer viewers every second. You think that Netflix and the
- 1:38Speaker 2: streaming services are taken over, but it's really YouTube that's
- 1:42Speaker 2: capturing the biggest share of the television audience. YouTube is
- 1:45Speaker 2: going to be the biggest thing. Now, this is a
- 1:47Speaker 2: big step getting the oscars. We always assumed Amazon or
- 1:52Speaker 2: Netflix would get the NFL or Major League base Keep
- 1:56Speaker 2: an eye on YouTube. Now, the Oscars on YouTube? Is
- 1:59Speaker 2: it a good idea? Well, one thing it's gonna do.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's gonna bring families together because when the Oscars are
- 2:07Speaker 2: on YouTube, you're gonna get those frantic calls. You're gonna
- 2:10Speaker 2: have to go to your mother's house. You're gonna have
- 2:11Speaker 2: to go to your grandmother's house and show them how
- 2:13Speaker 2: the hell to find YouTube. You know what, you might
- 2:17Speaker 2: as well plan on watching the oscars with them, because
- 2:21Speaker 2: no matter how much you show them, you're going to
- 2:24Speaker 2: get that call right before the oscars, I can't find it.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I lost it? How do you find it? So you're
- 2:29Speaker 2: gonna have to show them what the hell YouTube?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Is.
- 2:32Speaker 2: But it's a big, big development. So the Trump's speech
- 2:37Speaker 2: last night was not great. It was let me give
- 2:40Speaker 2: you the inside story here. This was not his idea.
- 2:43Speaker 2: He didn't want to do this. This was the staff
- 2:48Speaker 2: pushing it, mostly Susie Wiles pushing this. You know a
- 2:53Speaker 2: couple of reasons. One when fake news and the Democrats
- 2:56Speaker 2: start coming up with a with a hoax, with a
- 2:59Speaker 2: my and they start pounding it into people's heads. Twenty
- 3:03Speaker 2: four to seven. Everywhere you turn, it's all you hear
- 3:06Speaker 2: affordability crisis. Affordability crisis, affordability crisis. When you hear it
- 3:09Speaker 2: day and night, you actually, this is how propaganda works.
- 3:12Speaker 2: You actually start to think, oh my god, this is
- 3:14Speaker 2: an affordability crisis. There isn't We had one two years ago,
- 3:18Speaker 2: three years ago under Biden, you had a terrible crisis.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Prices were crazy, gas prices, everything was going nuts. Now
- 3:25Speaker 2: Trump has brought it down. He still got a ways
- 3:27Speaker 2: to go, but in his first year he brought it
- 3:30Speaker 2: down dramatically. Biden had inflation at nine percent one point
- 3:34Speaker 2: the highest in fifty years. When he left, his average
- 3:37Speaker 2: inflation was five percent. Trump has it down right now
- 3:41Speaker 2: to two point seven percent and falling. So that was
- 3:46Speaker 2: one reason for the speech, to try to fight back
- 3:48Speaker 2: on this myth that has been created. And then you
- 3:53Speaker 2: got a lot of great stuff that's going to happen
- 3:55Speaker 2: in the economy. The big beautiful bill has big tax
- 3:59Speaker 2: cuts for everybody, so your paycheck will be bigger every
- 4:02Speaker 2: week because you'll be paying less tax. Now it hasn't
- 4:05Speaker 2: kicked in yet, it starts in January, so everybody's going
- 4:08Speaker 2: to get a huge race starting in January. So he's
- 4:10Speaker 2: talking about how much you got done this year and
- 4:12Speaker 2: what's going to happen next year. But it wasn't a
- 4:15Speaker 2: great speech. It was a teleprompter speech. Trump is great
- 4:18Speaker 2: with an audience, you know, he knows how to perform
- 4:22Speaker 2: for an audience, but reading a teleprompter is not what
- 4:25Speaker 2: he should be doing. And in an empty room, he's
- 4:29Speaker 2: just in a big empty room. And it's that room
- 4:34Speaker 2: where you know. They've been doing Christmas parties every night
- 4:37Speaker 2: at the White House, sometimes two a night, sometimes three,
- 4:41Speaker 2: and they have so many people. They invite like twenty
- 4:43Speaker 2: five thousand people to these White House Christmas parties, so
- 4:46Speaker 2: you have to do them every night for three weeks.
- 4:49Speaker 2: In fact, there's another one tonight. They just keep doing
- 4:51Speaker 2: these Christmas parties, and it's the same procedure every night.
- 4:54Speaker 2: The guests all come whatever amount they can do a night,
- 4:57Speaker 2: five hundred, and they all walk around the Red room,
- 5:01Speaker 2: the Blue room, the Green room, the Yellow room, to
- 5:03Speaker 2: this room, to that room, the map room, the treating room,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and then they wander around and at some point they
- 5:08Speaker 2: come and assemble in this one spot where there's a podium.
- 5:11Speaker 2: The President comes down and makes a Christmas party speech.
- 5:14Speaker 2: And he's made this speech every night for three weeks,
- 5:18Speaker 2: the same speech, so you know, if you do it
- 5:21Speaker 2: too much, it gets stale. And it had that kind
- 5:24Speaker 2: of look last night. So basically the same situation, but
- 5:27Speaker 2: without an audience, just alone reading a teleprompter. So he
- 5:30Speaker 2: read it too loud, and he read it too fast,
- 5:32Speaker 2: and he kept talking like this, and it was too
- 5:34Speaker 2: fast and it was too loud. He was rushing through
- 5:36Speaker 2: it like this. I think that's because he didn't want
- 5:39Speaker 2: to do it. He was complaining off camera just before
- 5:42Speaker 2: he went on that Susie Wilds and everybody else pushed
- 5:44Speaker 2: him into doing this, so it's not what he wanted. Now,
- 5:47Speaker 2: the good news is because it was a well written speech.
- 5:51Speaker 2: A lot of people will just see it in print.
- 5:53Speaker 2: They'll read about it, and they'll see it in print.
- 5:55Speaker 2: In print, it looks great. But his delivery was like this,
- 5:58Speaker 2: and it was rushed and he was yelling, I'm just
- 6:00Speaker 2: trying to get through it, so it was a bit
- 6:02Speaker 2: of a dud. Here's someone.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Taris my favorite word, tariffs, which for many decades have
- 6:08Speaker 4: been used successfully by other countries against US, but not anymore.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Companies know that if they build in America, there are
- 6:16Speaker 4: no tariffs, and that's why they're coming home to the
- 6:19Speaker 4: USA in record numbers.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That it's a little too loud. You know, when you're
- 6:24Speaker 2: alone in a room, you don't talk like this. Hear
- 6:26Speaker 2: how I'm talking. I'm yelling a little. If I'm on TV,
- 6:30Speaker 2: I can talk like this because on TV people are
- 6:33Speaker 2: usually about twelve feet away from the TV set. They're
- 6:36Speaker 2: over there on the couch. You can talk to them
- 6:38Speaker 2: like this. But when you're on the radio, you're usually
- 6:42Speaker 2: talking out of the speaker, which is like a foot away,
- 6:46Speaker 2: so you can't yell at them. You got to talk
- 6:48Speaker 2: like this. So if there's an audience, you can talk
- 6:51Speaker 2: like this to them. But if you're in an empty
- 6:54Speaker 2: room and you're just alone, you can you can talk
- 6:57Speaker 2: more intimately to people. So and he knows this kind
- 7:00Speaker 2: of stuff. I don't know why he didn't do that.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I guess because his heart wasn't in this speech. He
- 7:04Speaker 2: didn't want to do it. You know, when they do,
- 7:06Speaker 2: there reporters in the room and start asking the questions.
- 7:10Speaker 2: He doesn't talk like this to them. You know, he
- 7:12Speaker 2: talks in a real voice. So it was too much yelling.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Now he's going to get criticism for blaming everything on Biden.
- 7:18Speaker 4: This is what the Biden administration allowed to happen to
- 7:22Speaker 4: our country, and it can never be allowed to happen again.
- 7:27Speaker 2: We had men playing in women's.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Sports, transgender for everybody, crime at record levels.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Now everybody can So why does he keep playing Biden?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Why does he have to keep enough with Biden? Biden's
- 7:39Speaker 2: not president anymore. Why does he have to keep it?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Because again, Democrats, media, fake news, you're creating this whole
- 7:46Speaker 2: fake scenario that he's got an affordability crisis. It was
- 7:51Speaker 2: an enormous affordability crisis under Biden, and under him it's
- 7:54Speaker 2: been dropping steadily and quickly. You know, it got a
- 7:58Speaker 2: ways to go, but it's been dropped like crazy. So
- 8:01Speaker 2: that's why he keeps having a remind everybody because he's
- 8:03Speaker 2: trying to contradict a lie that's been out there day
- 8:06Speaker 2: and night for months. But somehow he's created an affordability cress.
- 8:11Speaker 2: It has nothing to do with it. In fact, he's
- 8:12Speaker 2: been lessening it every month. So now here's the other.
- 8:19Speaker 2: This is going to be another Trump problem, but maybe
- 8:24Speaker 2: it won't be. I don't know. This is so outrageous
- 8:29Speaker 2: that it might be too much even for fake news.
- 8:33Speaker 2: You know, when Rob Reiner died, he put out that
- 8:35Speaker 2: tweet which I went back and read it. It's not
- 8:38Speaker 2: as bad as they're making it out to be. The
- 8:40Speaker 2: tweet starts off very nice, talking about Rob Reiner and
- 8:44Speaker 2: Michelle Reiner and what a terrible tragedy this is and
- 8:47Speaker 2: how awful, and he talks about that, and then if
- 8:50Speaker 2: you'll go to the very end, he said, may they
- 8:52Speaker 2: both rest in peace. So that's very nice. It's in
- 8:54Speaker 2: the middle where he says, you know, Rob Reiner was
- 8:57Speaker 2: a guy filled with rage and hate speech, which is true.
- 9:00Speaker 2: True he was. He was, go check my twitter. We
- 9:02Speaker 2: have documented all of this, the stuff Rob Briiner was saying,
- 9:07Speaker 2: putting up online. It was just the ugliest, vile, crude
- 9:12Speaker 2: hate speech against Donald Trump, raging. You know, And again
- 9:15Speaker 2: I knew Rob Briner when you were with him. He
- 9:18Speaker 2: was the warmest, sweetest, nicest guy. So when you read
- 9:22Speaker 2: his tweeting and his things he was saying about Trump,
- 9:26Speaker 2: you can't believe this same guy could get so ugly
- 9:29Speaker 2: and vile and crude and cursing. And it's just very
- 9:34Speaker 2: jeckyl in heights. It makes you wonder. So that upset
- 9:37Speaker 2: a lot of people. Of course, you know, people said, well,
- 9:39Speaker 2: you shouldn't do that. You're the president. You have to
- 9:40Speaker 2: stay you know, graceful and dignified. And yeah, of course, okay,
- 9:47Speaker 2: so now they have When you walk to the Oval Office,
- 9:50Speaker 2: you walk along the colonnade there along that wall where
- 9:53Speaker 2: he's put up all the portraits of the presidents, used
- 9:56Speaker 2: to be just an empty white wall. And when you
- 9:59Speaker 2: think about it, but he's right, that's where you greet
- 10:01Speaker 2: the world leaders in one part of the White House.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Then you go outside and you walk down this a
- 10:05Speaker 2: long colonnade to get to the Oval Office, and it's
- 10:09Speaker 2: just empty wall. You see. He just said, let's line
- 10:12Speaker 2: this with pictures of all our presidents in beautiful gold frames.
- 10:15Speaker 2: It was very very nice, great idea. And now when
- 10:20Speaker 2: it came to Biden, he put instead of Biden's face,
- 10:23Speaker 2: he put an auto pen in there. All right, it's
- 10:25Speaker 2: a little joke. You shouldn't do that, but you can
- 10:29Speaker 2: get away with it. All right, it's not you know,
- 10:32Speaker 2: it's not that bad. But now he unveiled this yesterday,
- 10:36Speaker 2: and again they're all gonna go nuts over this. They're
- 10:39Speaker 2: all gonna go crazy. Although it hasn't exploded like I
- 10:43Speaker 2: think it would. He now put it, unveiled it yesterday.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Under many of these presidents he put plaques underneath saying things,
- 10:51Speaker 2: and they're very very insulting. So under Biden, and it's
- 10:55Speaker 2: a beautiful, you know, gold, very very ornate plaque like
- 10:58Speaker 2: you'd see on a building with the inscription on it.
- 11:01Speaker 2: But the oneher Biden says, sleepy Joe. Biden was by
- 11:04Speaker 2: far the worst president in America. And it goes on
- 11:08Speaker 2: and on to talk about what a crook he is,
- 11:10Speaker 2: how he opened the borders let twenty one million people
- 11:13Speaker 2: in his Afghanistan disaster. I mean, it's the worst stuff
- 11:16Speaker 2: about Biden. It's a long, but I'm skipping through the
- 11:19Speaker 2: nickname both sleepy and crooked Joe Joe Biden was dominated
- 11:25Speaker 2: by his radical left handler. It goes on and on,
- 11:27Speaker 2: and you could write this, and you're not supposed to
- 11:30Speaker 2: put it on the wall of the White House in
- 11:32Speaker 2: a gold plaque. So now, of course any other president
- 11:36Speaker 2: when they come in will take this down. Under Bill Clinton,
- 11:40Speaker 2: it's not as bad yet. No, it's mostly good about
- 11:47Speaker 2: he approved NAFTA. It's mostly good about Clinton. But at
- 11:49Speaker 2: the end it said President Clinton's wife Hillary lost the
- 11:53Speaker 2: presidency to Donald Trump. Now the one for Obama, the
- 11:59Speaker 2: Reagan one is just high praise for Reagan, wonderful praise
- 12:02Speaker 2: for Reagan. The one under Obama was the first black president,
- 12:07Speaker 2: a community organizer, a one term senator from Illinois. Okay,
- 12:11Speaker 2: you can get away with that. He created the ineffective
- 12:14Speaker 2: Unaffordable Care Act. Well, that's true, but you're not supposed
- 12:16Speaker 2: to put that on the wall. His party losing both
- 12:21Speaker 2: Houses of Congress. Under Obama, it gets worse and worse.
- 12:26Speaker 2: He crippled small business with crushing regulations and an environmental
- 12:30Speaker 2: red tape. Well, this is actually true. You could make
- 12:32Speaker 2: this case. He spied on the twenty sixteen presidential campaign
- 12:37Speaker 2: of Donald Trump. It's all. You could go into court
- 12:41Speaker 2: and prove this stuff true if you had to, but
- 12:45Speaker 2: you're not supposed to put it on the wall of
- 12:47Speaker 2: the White House. So but again, it hasn't exploded yet
- 12:51Speaker 2: all over the news. But we'll see, we'll see if
- 12:54Speaker 2: they demand he'd take it down. Maybe it's so over
- 12:56Speaker 2: the top outrageous that they're afraid to go after for it.
- 13:00Speaker 2: They know it's some kind of trap. I mean, it's
- 13:02Speaker 2: I mean, Howard Stern wouldn't have the nerve to put
- 13:04Speaker 2: this stuff on the wall. So hey, the very bad news.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Cardinal Dolan is leaving Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who everybody loved
- 13:11Speaker 2: sixteen years here as the cardinal. It's nothing personal. The
- 13:19Speaker 2: rule of the church is at seventy five you have
- 13:22Speaker 2: to resign. You have to resign at seventy five. It's mandatory,
- 13:26Speaker 2: and you put in your resignation. Now. For Cardinal Dolan,
- 13:28Speaker 2: that was last year. But sometimes they'll delay accepting the resignation.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And remember last year the pope died, so that, you know,
- 13:38Speaker 2: put a holt on everything. Nothing happened, and then a
- 13:42Speaker 2: new pope took over and he obviously needs many months
- 13:45Speaker 2: to get settled and organized, so he's done that. Now
- 13:48Speaker 2: he's decided to accept the resignation and pick a new
- 13:52Speaker 2: cardinal for New York. And it's Ronald Hicks, who's from Chicago,
- 13:57Speaker 2: has a lot of connection to the pope who's also
- 14:01Speaker 2: from Chicago. Their careers overlapped a few times. Hicks, He's not,
- 14:05Speaker 2: you know, Dolan is a big, larger than life, big
- 14:08Speaker 2: life of the party personality. Hicks is more of a quiet,
- 14:11Speaker 2: gentle sort of a guy. But he's a warm guy.
- 14:15Speaker 2: He's got a good sense of humor. Here he is
- 14:18Speaker 2: accepting I want to do the will of God.
- 14:21Speaker 5: I asked him to tell the Holy Father that I
- 14:25Speaker 5: say yes with great humility and that I accept this
- 14:30Speaker 5: appointment with an open heart.
- 14:33Speaker 2: So he's here in New York today with the cardinal
- 14:35Speaker 2: being shown around.
- 14:36Speaker 5: And my name is Ron Hicks, and I have now.
- 14:42Speaker 2: First of all, he's got to call himself Ronald, this
- 14:46Speaker 2: Ron Hicks. It doesn't sound like a cardinal when your
- 14:49Speaker 2: name is Ron Hicks. Sounds like you work at William
- 14:51Speaker 2: Morris Agency. Sounds like you're a car salesman. Here's my
- 14:55Speaker 2: card Ron Hicks doesn't sound like a Cardinalnald Hicks will
- 15:00Speaker 2: sound better, make more sense.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Did New York about ten times in my life, and
- 15:07Speaker 5: every time I have visited, I have said to myself,
- 15:11Speaker 5: I love it. I love the culture, the food, the energy,
- 15:17Speaker 5: the plays, the neighborhoods, but especially I love the people.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Okay, okay, sounding like a bit of a tourist, but listen,
- 15:26Speaker 2: that's all the cardinals. Do you remember Dolan you think
- 15:29Speaker 2: of him as such a New Yorker. I remember when
- 15:30Speaker 2: he came here sixteen years ago from I think it
- 15:32Speaker 2: was Saint Louis. Saint Louis. He was the same thing.
- 15:36Speaker 2: He was new to New York, he didn't know his
- 15:38Speaker 2: way around, and of course he became a big, big,
- 15:40Speaker 2: big part of New York. So Ronald Hicks, Wilton.
- 15:43Speaker 5: The people from all over the world who call this
- 15:47Speaker 5: place home. And every time that I visited, I've always said,
- 15:52Speaker 5: I look forward to returning. And this time I'm returning
- 15:57Speaker 5: not only as a visitor, but I'm going to be
- 16:00Speaker 5: returning to stay.
- 16:03Speaker 2: So all right, now, he'll be good. He'll be good.
- 16:07Speaker 2: One of the reasons Dolan stayed a little longer than
- 16:10Speaker 2: he is supposed to. Catholic church with the you know,
- 16:14Speaker 2: the sexual abuse and scandal and all that, they had
- 16:17Speaker 2: to clean that up. There was nothing to do with Dolan,
- 16:19Speaker 2: wasn't his fault, but you had to clean it up.
- 16:21Speaker 2: He's the one that worked out at like a billion
- 16:23Speaker 2: dollar settlement and they had to settle all these lawsuits
- 16:27Speaker 2: and raise the money to settle it. And that's what
- 16:29Speaker 2: he's been doing for the last year. It's mostly done now,
- 16:32Speaker 2: he'll notice very quietly, the Catholic Church here in New
- 16:35Speaker 2: York has been selling a lot of it's very valuable
- 16:37Speaker 2: real estate. Just this week they finally sold over there
- 16:43Speaker 2: at the Palace Hotel. They hon the whole ground lease.
- 16:46Speaker 2: They just sold that for about four hundred and ninety
- 16:48Speaker 2: million dollars. So they've raised all the money that's been settled.
- 16:52Speaker 2: And Ronald Hicks, he made that joke. Every new cardinal
- 16:57Speaker 2: makes the same joke. I already made that joke this morning,
- 16:59Speaker 2: and he's going to speech and he says, but I
- 17:01Speaker 2: do have something very controversial to say. I'm still a
- 17:07Speaker 2: Cubs fan. So Dolan did that when he came here
- 17:11Speaker 2: to I'm still a Cardinals fan. But now the only
- 17:14Speaker 2: if there's a bad side to the Hicks can be
- 17:18Speaker 2: a little left wing, a little woke, but all right,
- 17:21Speaker 2: that can be cured. But we wish him very well
- 17:24Speaker 2: and we got a lot to get to today. We'll
- 17:26Speaker 2: take some calls. Next. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 17:30Speaker 2: seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two one
- 17:33Speaker 2: zero seven ten did Mark.
- 17:36Speaker 1: On demand by setting up preseat for his podcast on
- 17:40Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. Now back to Mark Simon on woor.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Eight hundred three to two
- 17:49Speaker 2: one zero seven ten is the number. Let's go to
- 17:52Speaker 2: Chris in Manhattan. Chris, how you doing.
- 17:54Speaker 3: We'm good? Thanks Mark. First, let me just say I
- 17:56Speaker 3: wish you a very happy holiday season and they hope
- 17:59Speaker 3: you have a great vacation.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Nice.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Second, the about Trump, I.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Think what he's doing he's.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Wait, wait oh wait, can I talk to I think
- 18:13Speaker 3: he's hand.
- 18:14Speaker 2: You're gonna you're gonna start whining. Why does he have
- 18:16Speaker 2: to do?
- 18:17Speaker 3: But I am whining. I think he's everything he's doing
- 18:21Speaker 3: that's good is going to be turned turned be undone
- 18:23Speaker 3: by the Democrats. I think he's handing the election to them.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean he's not running for election. He's not
- 18:29Speaker 2: what he's not running for anything.
- 18:30Speaker 3: No, I know he's not, but they're going to vote
- 18:33Speaker 3: against his policies.
- 18:34Speaker 2: The Demo, we don't know that because that's a year away.
- 18:36Speaker 2: It's a year from now, so the landscape will change
- 18:39Speaker 2: many many times.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Well, do I know things are more expensive. I know
- 18:43Speaker 3: it's not his.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Fault, but you live in Manhattan. Gases now two dollars
- 18:47Speaker 2: a gallon, but if you're in New York it's still
- 18:49Speaker 2: four or five dollars.
- 18:50Speaker 3: I know it's under three in some parts a long round,
- 18:52Speaker 3: I know, but but food is expensive.
- 18:54Speaker 2: And again that's New York City. Mark talking a greatiflication.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I love the guy, but he's always Why does he
- 19:04Speaker 2: have to U Let's go to Mike in Ulster County.
- 19:07Speaker 6: Mike, how you doing, Hey, Mark, Merry Christmas?
- 19:11Speaker 7: First ball. I did watch the speech last night. He did.
- 19:15Speaker 7: The President did look uncomfortable because it's not his venue.
- 19:19Speaker 7: But it's a speech that had to be made because
- 19:22Speaker 7: the media and the Democrats are playing on the fact
- 19:26Speaker 7: that for the most.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Part, the American people.
- 19:28Speaker 7: Are very impatient. They want instant gratification.
- 19:32Speaker 2: And well, don't blame them now. As I said earlier,
- 19:35Speaker 2: they've been had this fake narrative drilled into their head
- 19:38Speaker 2: that we are suddenly in an affordability crisis when the
- 19:40Speaker 2: economy has actually greatly improved unless year. So he needed
- 19:43Speaker 2: to make the speech. It was a bad setting. This
- 19:45Speaker 2: was all designed by Susie Wiles and the staff. And
- 19:48Speaker 2: she's great, but she, you know, as far as media skill,
- 19:53Speaker 2: she's still in nineteen eighty three with Ronald Reagan, where
- 19:56Speaker 2: you get a podium and you read the teleprompter. It
- 19:58Speaker 2: doesn't work anymore. Uh and Trump, Uh, I think you'll
- 20:02Speaker 2: see it was a dud the speech last night. It
- 20:04Speaker 2: looks good on paper, It was well written, but the
- 20:06Speaker 2: delivery wasn't great. So he'll never allow that to happen again.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Next time, he'll get some modern day communications people to
- 20:13Speaker 2: come up with a better setting and a better way
- 20:16Speaker 2: to do that. Let's go to Don in New York City. Don,
- 20:18Speaker 2: How you doing?
- 20:20Speaker 6: Yes? Mark, listen, Mark, are you familiar with the song Till.
- 20:24Speaker 8: After the Holidays?
- 20:26Speaker 2: Tell what.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Till after the holidays? Oh?
- 20:30Speaker 2: Till after the Holidays? Am I familiar with it? Yes?
- 20:33Speaker 6: Not?
- 20:33Speaker 2: Really? Was this like Al Jolson in the twenties? Huh?
- 20:39Speaker 2: Who said Garlands sang it? I? No, I don't remember
- 20:46Speaker 2: it what why?
- 20:48Speaker 6: Oh, because I heard it recently.
- 20:50Speaker 2: On the radio.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Uh.
- 20:52Speaker 2: And who was playing at al Jasbo Collins. No, I'm kidding.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I was on WABC. Oh, okay, Well it must be
- 21:01Speaker 2: good names. Well, you know she recorded some beautiful, beautiful
- 21:04Speaker 2: New Year's Christmas ballads. That's probably one of them from
- 21:07Speaker 2: the late fifties. Very sad.
- 21:09Speaker 7: It's something like whatever Happened to Christmas?
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, I'll check it out. You know, that's
- 21:13Speaker 2: one thing she was good. She would do these touching,
- 21:16Speaker 2: sad ballads. She was brilliant at it. Being a great actress.
- 21:19Speaker 2: She was one of the great singers of the late
- 21:22Speaker 2: fifties and early sixties. In fact, listen to her live
- 21:25Speaker 2: album at Carnegie Hall, one of the greatest albums ever.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Let's go to Joe in the Bronx. Joe, how you doing?
- 21:31Speaker 8: I'm doing better than I deserve?
- 21:33Speaker 2: And I hope you I'd agree with that. You don't
- 21:34Speaker 2: deserve to do this? Well, knowing you no.
- 21:37Speaker 8: Because it's good this way, I'm not bitter.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Well that's good.
- 21:42Speaker 8: So anyway, I was thinking about a way to help
- 21:46Speaker 8: for the mid terms. Yes, and I came up with
- 21:49Speaker 8: something good. In one of my plays, character says, you know.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounds good.
- 21:59Speaker 8: What's up Bad America?
- 22:01Speaker 2: Well that's good.
- 22:02Speaker 8: They don't need the wooden Horse because they have the
- 22:06Speaker 8: Democratic Party.
- 22:09Speaker 2: That's great. How'd you come up with that? That's pretty amazing, really,
- 22:13Speaker 2: Oh phenomenal. No, no, no, it's excellent. Yeah, no, anyway,
- 22:20Speaker 2: thanks for coming up with that. Anyway. Hey, I forgot
- 22:24Speaker 2: to mention one great thing in that speech last night.
- 22:27Speaker 2: You know, the tariffs. Some people love them, some people don't.
- 22:30Speaker 2: But the tariffs have brought in zillions of dollars. Money
- 22:33Speaker 2: is just flowing in from the tariffs. So one thing
- 22:35Speaker 2: he announced was every he called them warriors, every military
- 22:38Speaker 2: man and woman will get a thousand dollars bonus this year,
- 22:42Speaker 2: and he said they'll deliver it before Christmas. So all
- 22:45Speaker 2: of our great military soldiers one thousand dollars bonus from
- 22:50Speaker 2: the tariffs. Hey, when we come back, we're going to
- 22:52Speaker 2: talk to one of the greatest economists in the world.
- 22:54Speaker 2: We got a real expert to talk about the economy, affordability, inflation.
- 22:58Speaker 2: The speech last night. We'll get told of that next
- 23:00Speaker 2: on seven to ten wo R with Steve Moore, We hope.
- 23:04Speaker 1: More Mark Mark Simon on seven tenor well.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Steve Moore, the great economist, one of the finest in
- 23:13Speaker 2: the world. You should get his latest book That Can
- 23:15Speaker 2: You need a good Christmas Present for somebody? Excellent. Get
- 23:18Speaker 2: his book The Trump Economic Miracle. Excellent book. Also, the
- 23:23Speaker 2: best daily briefing comes from his group, the Committee to
- 23:26Speaker 2: Unleashed Prosperity. It's free and have it come right to
- 23:29Speaker 2: your email everyday. Best news analysis. Just go to Unleash
- 23:33Speaker 2: Prosperity dot com and sign up. Unleash Prosperity dot com.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Steve Moore, how you doing.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Good Mary Christmas? And boy, we got a nice Christmas
- 23:43Speaker 6: present this morning with that low inflation number wave below expectations,
- 23:47Speaker 6: and we're now down to about two point six percent
- 23:50Speaker 6: inflation under Trump, which is, you know, half of what
- 23:53Speaker 6: it was under Biden five percent, So you know enough
- 23:56Speaker 6: about this affordability crisis. Prices of inflation has come down
- 24:01Speaker 6: a lot in just the last six months.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but it's an upsetting number if you're a Democrat.
- 24:07Speaker 2: They were looking for three, weren't they not two points?
- 24:10Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, that's a big, big error. And incidentally, you
- 24:14Speaker 6: know the most recent numbers, you know, for the last
- 24:17Speaker 6: couple of months were really low. That means that you know,
- 24:19Speaker 6: we're looking at an inflation rate that will stay low
- 24:23Speaker 6: now for the months to come. I'm extremely bullish on
- 24:26Speaker 6: twenty twenty six. I think we're going to see. I
- 24:29Speaker 6: liked what Trump had to say last night that the
- 24:30Speaker 6: best is yet to come. He's exactly right about that.
- 24:34Speaker 6: So feeling good about things, and you know, I can
- 24:37Speaker 6: even now go out nice for Christmas presents and with
- 24:39Speaker 6: what six days the shop left?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Hey, but it's a great technique they've come up
- 24:44Speaker 2: with the left and the Democrats, the media combined. You
- 24:47Speaker 2: just drilled something into people's heads and thousand times a day,
- 24:50Speaker 2: affordability crisis exactly, and they start to believe it.
- 24:53Speaker 6: So why didn't they use that? Why didn't they use
- 24:56Speaker 6: that term when Iden was president and inflation went up
- 24:58Speaker 6: to nine percent?
- 25:00Speaker 2: Guess he was a Democrat.
- 25:05Speaker 6: Now it's unbelievable because you know, we've seen we're not
- 25:08Speaker 6: bringing inflation down as quickly as I'd like, but we're
- 25:12Speaker 6: seeing big improvement. And what about gas prices? Now? Look,
- 25:15Speaker 6: I know you're there in the New York area where
- 25:17Speaker 6: you still pay what three four dollars a gallon, but
- 25:19Speaker 6: in most places. The price of gas is now down
- 25:23Speaker 6: to about two seventy nine a gallon, which is really
- 25:26Speaker 6: you know, remember it hit five dollars.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Remember that Biden oil is fifty five dollars.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Now amazing, Yeah it was. It was eighty dollars when
- 25:36Speaker 6: he came into office. Now it's fifty five. So that's
- 25:39Speaker 6: what about a thirty percent reduction in the price of oil.
- 25:43Speaker 6: And by the way, when the energy price goes down
- 25:46Speaker 6: like that, mark everything. It's sort of the lead indicator
- 25:50Speaker 6: where prices are headed because energy is a component of
- 25:53Speaker 6: everything way by, from toys to food to you know,
- 25:56Speaker 6: rent and housing. So look, it's a good economy. Trump
- 26:00Speaker 6: was right about that last night. Now, I know people
- 26:03Speaker 6: are hurting. I know people get angry when you say
- 26:05Speaker 6: that because they want to value ground b for a sake,
- 26:07Speaker 6: and they get angry because it's really expensive. And my
- 26:10Speaker 6: wife is among those people who complains every time she
- 26:12Speaker 6: comes back to the grocery store. But no, we're cooking.
- 26:16Speaker 6: We got a good, decent jobs report, we got a
- 26:19Speaker 6: really good inflation report, and so it's going to be
- 26:22Speaker 6: a good Christmas Christmas day for people. And twenty twenty six, Wow,
- 26:27Speaker 6: I just wait the mess is yet to come.
- 26:30Speaker 2: You know, the price of beef went up because the
- 26:33Speaker 2: Biden administration did everything they could to reduce the amount
- 26:36Speaker 2: of cattle we had. Remember they thought cows caused.
- 26:38Speaker 6: Yeah, we have a record number of cows. You know,
- 26:41Speaker 6: if you reduce the number of cows, what do you
- 26:42Speaker 6: think is gonna happen to beef prices?
- 26:46Speaker 2: Simple economics, right, you know the President rattled off all
- 26:50Speaker 2: these things, inflation way down, wages up for construction, all
- 26:53Speaker 2: these different things. But if you watch like the NBC
- 26:56Speaker 2: Nightly News, the way they phrased it is the President
- 26:58Speaker 2: claimed to the reduced inflation the present claim to How
- 27:03Speaker 2: did they get away with that kind of language.
- 27:05Speaker 6: Well, one mistake Trump made, and a lot of us
- 27:09Speaker 6: make this mistake. Trump said, oh, I'm going to bring
- 27:12Speaker 6: prices down now, you know we in fact, you don't
- 27:16Speaker 6: want disinflation. Disinflation is even worse than inflation, and I
- 27:19Speaker 6: mean we had disinflation throughout the Great Depression in nineteen thirties.
- 27:22Speaker 6: What we want is price stability, and we want to
- 27:24Speaker 6: bring that inflation rate down to the FA target of
- 27:27Speaker 6: two percent. And we're well on the way. But that
- 27:31Speaker 6: means that you know, prices will still rise, but at
- 27:34Speaker 6: a much lower rate than they did Underbiden. So, you know,
- 27:37Speaker 6: I saw this poll the other day. This is a
- 27:39Speaker 6: perfect example of how the media the source thing. They
- 27:41Speaker 6: said eighty six percent of American people say prices are
- 27:46Speaker 6: everything's more expensive than ever. Well, that's true. I mean
- 27:49Speaker 6: prices are more expensive today than they were fifty years ago,
- 27:54Speaker 6: you know, and everything gets more expensive over time. The
- 27:57Speaker 6: point is that right now, the most important measurement is
- 28:01Speaker 6: our price is rising faster than people's wages and salaries.
- 28:05Speaker 6: And the answer to that is no. Right now, wages
- 28:08Speaker 6: and salaries are rising faster than inflation, which means we
- 28:12Speaker 6: have more after tax after inflation income, which means we
- 28:16Speaker 6: have more affordability. Now, look, I understand housing is really
- 28:19Speaker 6: expensive for young people. I understand Bee physics, somanthsome. Healthcare
- 28:23Speaker 6: is out of control. And that's a mystery because gee,
- 28:25Speaker 6: I thought we passed the Affordable Care Act. How could
- 28:28Speaker 6: help care prices be out of control?
- 28:29Speaker 2: Yeah? Now, Steve Moore, you're the expert economist. In one year,
- 28:33Speaker 2: President Trump cut inflation in half, took it from five percent? Yes,
- 28:37Speaker 2: is there anything? Is there any way you could have
- 28:40Speaker 2: done more? Than that. I mean, you don't. You can't
- 28:42Speaker 2: bring it down any faster than that, can you.
- 28:45Speaker 6: We could have, I mean we could have. I mean, look,
- 28:46Speaker 6: there's no question that the terroriffs did cause some inflation. Uh,
- 28:51Speaker 6: and you know we thought perfect example of that is
- 28:53Speaker 6: coffee prices rose a lot because we put a big
- 28:56Speaker 6: tariff on you know, coffee beans coming in from from
- 29:01Speaker 6: Columbia and Brazil and so on. But it's been a
- 29:05Speaker 6: good it's been a good year for the US economy.
- 29:08Speaker 6: How about the fact that the economy has been growing
- 29:10Speaker 6: at three and a half to four percent for the
- 29:11Speaker 6: last nine months.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Now, yeah, Now, the Big Beautiful Bill.
- 29:14Speaker 6: That's a high growth number.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. The Big Beautiful Bill doesn't kick in for
- 29:18Speaker 2: taxpayers until January. And I'm told they'll get a reduction
- 29:22Speaker 2: in their taxes more in the Patriots. Yes, yeah, I'm
- 29:24Speaker 2: told the amount is going to shock people how much
- 29:27Speaker 2: of an increase they'll get.
- 29:29Speaker 6: That's exactly right. So the people come up to me
- 29:32Speaker 6: on the streets say, hey, well, you know you were
- 29:34Speaker 6: helped to pass that big beautiful bill. Where's my tax
- 29:37Speaker 6: And I said, just wait, it's coming in January. You know,
- 29:39Speaker 6: the no tax on tips the no tax on overtime
- 29:41Speaker 6: that you know, people will change the withholding. So most
- 29:45Speaker 6: Americans will get a boost in their paychecks starting in January.
- 29:50Speaker 6: And that's going to be equivalent of about two thousand
- 29:52Speaker 6: dollars for the average family. That ain't that ain't nothing.
- 29:55Speaker 2: No. Now, the only mine land mine out there that
- 29:59Speaker 2: could go off this Affordable Care Act. Healthcare costs. What
- 30:03Speaker 2: are we going to do about that?
- 30:06Speaker 6: Well, with one good way to start is to make
- 30:10Speaker 6: sure that we don't pass more Obamacare subsidies, which keep
- 30:14Speaker 6: feeding the beast of the healthcare system. By the way,
- 30:18Speaker 6: most of that money if we pass the increase in
- 30:20Speaker 6: all those subsidies, you know who gets about sixty cents
- 30:23Speaker 6: of every dollar of the increased subsidies the health insurance companies.
- 30:30Speaker 2: So but we have to extend. We have to give
- 30:33Speaker 2: an extension till we figure out a plan. I mean, right,
- 30:36Speaker 2: we're going.
- 30:37Speaker 6: To look, it's a disaster. The healthcare system is a disaster.
- 30:40Speaker 6: They've ruined it, they've ruined it, Mark and you know,
- 30:44Speaker 6: it's it's unbelievable because it's the one thing we never
- 30:46Speaker 6: have how much it's going to cost? Right, we never
- 30:49Speaker 6: ask when you know, when you go to the doctor
- 30:51Speaker 6: or the physician or the hospital. Then they say you
- 30:54Speaker 6: need to m ARI. Do you do you ask tee
- 30:56Speaker 6: how much that's going to cost?
- 30:57Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody does.
- 31:00Speaker 6: That's like you know, going to the grocery store and saying, oh,
- 31:03Speaker 6: I'll take that and that and that and that, not
- 31:04Speaker 6: looking at the price. Take. So we got to get
- 31:06Speaker 6: the consumer back in the market here, so everybody becomes
- 31:10Speaker 6: and that way.
- 31:11Speaker 2: You know, you need.
- 31:12Speaker 6: Insurance for your you know those rare really expensive things
- 31:16Speaker 6: like if you get canceled out forbid, or break your
- 31:19Speaker 6: leg or you have, you know, a chronic disease, you
- 31:21Speaker 6: want to be covered. But you know we've got to
- 31:24Speaker 6: put the patient back an equation and why not. How
- 31:26Speaker 6: about this? This is an idea Trump is paid for.
- 31:28Speaker 6: If you were to pay for some of these medical procedures,
- 31:31Speaker 6: but with cash, you would pay twenty five to thirty
- 31:34Speaker 6: percent less. Yes, there are some places, by the way,
- 31:37Speaker 6: an MRI literally in Washington, c One hospital charge you
- 31:40Speaker 6: eight hundred dollars for an MRI. The other one costs
- 31:43Speaker 6: you five charge you five thousand dollars. What yeah, I
- 31:46Speaker 6: mean it's the pricing is unbelievable. We need price transparency.
- 31:50Speaker 6: That's something Trump's been really good at. So anyway, I am,
- 31:53Speaker 6: I'm very optimistic.
- 31:55Speaker 8: Are we going to be on next week?
- 31:56Speaker 2: I don't.
- 31:59Speaker 6: Yeah, Oh well, I have a merry, merry Christmas. I
- 32:03Speaker 6: have a happy, happy New Year. And we I'm not
- 32:05Speaker 6: going to get a pay raise for my weekly segment
- 32:08Speaker 6: with you. Next year.

- 32:12Speaker 6: Triplet Wait, triple zero is still zero?
- 32:16Speaker 2: All right, quadruple what you are a great negotiator?
- 32:20Speaker 6: All right? Yeah, So anyway, Mark, have a great, great
- 32:23Speaker 6: Christmas and you can't wait to talk to the end
- 32:26Speaker 6: of new year, and good things are to come, folks,
