[SPEAKER_01]: All right, welcome to Joe, others receiving votes.
• 0:05
[SPEAKER_01]: November 20th, 2025, joined his usual vibe, Jean Will Giowsky, and Brian Fisher.
• 0:15
[SPEAKER_01]: So much to discuss today.
• 0:17
[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna talk about the tension between Lane Kippen's future in Mississippi's present.
• 0:24
[SPEAKER_01]: The James Franklin Fit at Virginia Tech.
• 0:28
[SPEAKER_01]: the latest playoff rankings in the Saturday game that could reshape them namely USC and Oregon.
• 0:35
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll have a new feature alongside that commenters commenting on comments.
• 0:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I don't explain as we get to that.
• 0:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Also winners and steak dinners, of course, some interesting movement in the standings there.
• 0:52
[SPEAKER_01]: But we got to start with this guys.
• 0:54
  [SPEAKER_01]: We we have to
• 0:59
[SPEAKER_01]: and uh... i'm wondering as a as a precursor uh... did you guys you play in any like adult co-ed recreation league you know like gene you look like you probably a softball player maybe maybe a basketball player to get me those leagues uh... rhythmic dancing something that i was a passion in mind i should have seen that coming uh... brine maybe you do a little soccer or anything what if any any leagues you were in
• 1:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I wish I could I get to young kids.
• 1:31
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no time for all that.
• 1:33
  [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
• 1:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I played, you know, I played a little softball, a basketball, a little sand volleyball.
• 1:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I did not know until now that there is such a thing as an adult, co-ed cheerleading competition.
• 1:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where chapel bill was.
• 1:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Either to bill bell a check.
• 1:57
[SPEAKER_01]: No, until all of a sudden he wound up at one saying, what am I doing?
• 2:04
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this was amazing.
• 2:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Fascinating from a guy named Adam Castle on on Twitter.
• 2:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I had photos from Tuesday night of Bill,
• 2:22
[SPEAKER_01]: watching apparently on the sidelines watch spot is a bill bill check spotted at a cheerleading competition in rally supporting his girlfriend Jordan who is member of a co-ed adult cheerleading team.
• 2:37
  [SPEAKER_01]: I see I've the rhythmic dancing.
• 2:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I think this would be good for your Jane.
• 2:40
[SPEAKER_01]: You could seek one up, you know, let it let your inner self come out.
• 2:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I think it would be great.
• 2:50
[SPEAKER_01]: So Bill was there and there were people saying no, there's no way, although if you look at the picture, it's certainly him wearing a trademark hoodie, a drab gray hoodie while everyone around him is, you know, dressed to the nines to cheer, but there's video to the videos incredible, this apparently is, they're good at it, I don't know, um, that you're leading, but this is sheer extreme code black,
• 3:21
  [SPEAKER_01]: 1-825.
• 3:22
  [SPEAKER_01]: I looked up cheer-extreme.
• 3:24
[SPEAKER_01]: It is an organization in Raleigh.
• 3:28
[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like it's primarily aimed at, you know, kid cheerleaders.
• 3:34
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's massive.
• 3:35
[SPEAKER_01]: They got like a million coaches.
• 3:36
[SPEAKER_01]: They got branches all over the place.
• 3:39
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you know, cheerleading is a big, big deal.
• 3:42
[SPEAKER_01]: You get kids that are in it.
• 3:45
  [SPEAKER_01]: If you
• 3:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Indianapolis, when we're there for a swimming, and there's also a cheerleading competition at the same time, and there are nine million little kids running around downtown.
• 3:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, sequined up, and ready to cheer their little hearts out.
• 4:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's touching.
• 4:02
[SPEAKER_01]: My question, I guess, here, guys.
• 4:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I have many questions, but what is Bill Belichet got himself into?
• 4:15
[SPEAKER_02]: There are what 340 million Americans, and if you ask them, list the last thing that you everything Bill Bellachek would do.
• 4:26
[SPEAKER_02]: None of them would be able to even conceive of this possibility.
• 4:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I would have thought he'd get a manny petty with Robert Kraft.
• 4:36
[SPEAKER_02]: before he'd ever go to a cheerleading competition, featuring adults, grown people, wearing sequins and glitter belts, and see through black mesh outfits and now you are very charitable.
• 4:56
[SPEAKER_02]: You said he was there to support Jordan.
• 4:58
[SPEAKER_02]: He actually looked like he'd rather drink a pint of hydrochloric acid than be anywhere, but you know what love makes you do strange things It does and and I give Bill a lot of credit for being there supporting his girlfriend and You know, I respect you hats off to you bill for making that extra effort I'm not sure I could have done it.
• 5:24
[SPEAKER_01]: How much credit do you think the North Carolina fans give him for doing that?
• 5:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Ryan, I will, I will get Brian's thoughts.
• 5:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, pray, pray about 1% uh, cause then you pray.
• 5:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he should be of recruiting or something like that, like every other coach in college football, but you know what, happy wife, happy life applies to coaches as well as as just about everybody out there.
• 5:45
[SPEAKER_00]: So I do give credit for them.
• 5:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I will call attention to the pinned comment.
• 5:50
[SPEAKER_00]: on top of the video of this performance for those wondering Jordan just started on November 2nd and she learned all of this in one week.
• 5:56
[SPEAKER_00]: So Kudos to Jordan for learning the whole routine and in a week.
• 6:00
[SPEAKER_00]: I would also call it tension.
• 6:02
[SPEAKER_00]: That means she started right after Bill Bell check got his first ACC win on Halloween at Syracuse.
• 6:08
[SPEAKER_00]: So you know that there might be some timing in interesting timing to go along with this.
• 6:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And it also seems the owner of the place that Jordan Huntson trains at, this extreme chilling place, apparently an NC state grad.
• 6:20
[SPEAKER_00]: So that could make things a little bit interesting next week as well.
• 6:24
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll check possibly going for bull, a bull eligibility against the wolf pack there.
• 6:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So interesting times in the triangle.
• 6:30
  [SPEAKER_00]: This is like
• 6:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Just go back five years ago when he's coaching at the Patriots and just if you were to go back in time and to tell him like what would he jump out the building then like It's just amazing, but hey, this is an only in college football thing and it still doesn't seem real that Bill Belechek is coaching in college football But this just adds just an incredibly another layer to things and so fun times there in the triangle that's for sure
• 6:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I, I, the, the surreal nature of this whole season with him, you know, oh, my god, he's really going to do this.
• 7:05
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he is.
• 7:06
[SPEAKER_01]: He's really going to be the coach.
• 7:07
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the very present nature of his girlfriend, who is 50 years younger than he is, another interesting layer.
• 7:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: And then they're terrible.
• 7:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, for most of the season, then it was Brian noted, we hit, uh, they start getting better losing closer games and then they win at Syracuse, and maybe that's maybe Jordan right then and there.
• 7:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Wash off and I said, my, my work here is done.
• 7:34
  [SPEAKER_01]: I've turned things around.
• 7:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I can now go do my true love of, of, of, co-block cheerleading.
• 7:41
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 7:42
  [SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, but.
• 7:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think there's probably a few North Carolina fans that they're four and six and fighting for bowl eligibility and getting ready to play their biggest rival Duke.
• 7:55
[SPEAKER_01]: And there is hoodie looking completely miserable.
• 7:59
[SPEAKER_01]: It's some off-brand cheerleading competition on Tuesday, Monday, Tuesdays are usually the massive workdays for college football coaches, but Coach Bill found some time.
• 8:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's lovely.
• 8:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: I would have paid.
• 8:12
  [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
• 8:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I would have paid pat 40 money salary money to have seen Tom Brady or craft's face all in these saw the video or no photos a bell to check there
• 8:26
[SPEAKER_01]: How fast do you think that was whipping around the group chaps among former Patriot players to drop for him?
• 8:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that doesn't this make the loss of the Hulu documentary, like that much more, like this could have been a good 12-minute segment in one of those shows that we could at, we could have had behind the scenes videos of Chapel Bill just like the actual reaction of him on camera would have been been priceless.
• 8:50
[SPEAKER_00]: That would have gone straight to the NFL films Hall of Fame right there.
• 8:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the whole thing is truly incredible, and I thank Bill and Jordan for, for for being in college football this year, but also for continuing to, to play the bit and giving us things like this to talk about, the content providers, content providers.
• 9:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: God love them.
• 9:17
[SPEAKER_01]: And quite frankly, for the most part, we have tried to make Jordan a, we've tried to prevent making Jordan a topic on this show.
• 9:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you can't help it.
• 9:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes bill Bella check is at a adult cheerleading competition and you have to talk about it.
• 9:33
[SPEAKER_01]: So we have speaking of of coaches doing things you can scarcely believe.
• 9:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: while Chapelville is cheerboy-friending.
• 9:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Lane Kiffin has been toying with the emotions of three different SEC schools.
• 9:49
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the coach at Mississippi and they're having a phenomenal season, 10 and 1 on their way to the playoff, but he's also being wooed by LSU and Florida.
• 10:02
[SPEAKER_01]: And we know for sure he's being wooed because his family members got on private jets
• 10:11
[SPEAKER_01]: There is a lot going on in and around Oxford and really throughout the SEC because of this Let's start with this.
• 10:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I've written about it, but I want to get you guys as takes on what Lane Kiffin owes to Ole Miss in terms of an answer and in terms of the timing of the answer Brian.
• 10:33
  [SPEAKER_01]: Let's start with you
• 10:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I do give Keith Carter the AD there.
• 10:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I told him this a lot of credit.
• 10:38
[SPEAKER_00]: He's out there doing yoga with Lane in the mornings, you know, which is not something I would typically say of a lot of the ADs that I know going out there, especially if it's that hot yoga time and kind of I might have to give Keith even more credit if that's the case.
• 10:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm like he's having daily conversations with Lane.
• 10:56
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure they're in close communication over everything and
• 10:59
[SPEAKER_00]: For Lain himself, I mean, he does kind of owe the school given the active coaching market some sort of an indication, hey, you better start putting together your list.
• 11:10
[SPEAKER_00]: You better start doing some background on candidates, maybe higher research from that sort of thing, because if old miss comes open, that's a pretty attractive job, but you're also battling Auburn, you're also battling Florida, you're also battling one of LSU Florida, I guess.
• 11:24
[SPEAKER_00]: So there are a lot of gigs out there that old miss will be in competition for
• 11:29
[SPEAKER_00]: given the turnaround between when you're injured season and possibly when you might need a head coach to actually get get started so for old messy he does kind of owe them at least to some sort of indication even if they want to keep it on the quiet you know on the down low that say hey you know I'm thinking I'm pretty strongly about going to LSU or Florida
• 11:47
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, well, we're going to start our coaching search.
• 11:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And even if we don't have to end up crossing that bridge, when we get there, at least we're prepared.
• 11:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think he does owe them some sort of answer.
• 11:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think for the old Miss fan base itself, you know, this is like talk about being in it right now.
• 12:03
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, as much as they love the antics of Lane Kiffin, especially when it's directed at Mississippi State or he's needling Nick Sabin or he's doing any number of things that are Lane Kiffin things.
• 12:15
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I can I can sense some palpable frustration amongst a lot of old miss people and saying like, hey, look.
• 12:21
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going into the Eggball.
• 12:22
[SPEAKER_00]: One of the biggest Eggballs given what's at stake in terms of the playoff that they've had in ages at this point, and to have their coach not only openly flirting with a lot of these key schools, but also sending his family to Gainesville and Baton Rouge.
• 12:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Like that would be upsetting to me that it is kind of tarnishing the end of this season's
• 12:41
[SPEAKER_00]: where pretty much everything has gone right outside of about five minutes there at Georgia.
• 12:45
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he does, at least some indication to the school itself, but we will see because it is a messy situation, but it's one of Lane Kiffin's own creating.
• 12:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, I think it's spectacularly unfair to impose for fans or writers for observers, donors to impose their job sensibilities.
• 13:13
  [SPEAKER_02]: on kiffin.
• 13:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I guess I would remind everyone, kiffin is not the guy who fired Billy Napier and that job came open.
• 13:22
  [SPEAKER_02]: Florida did that.
• 13:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And kiffin isn't the guy who fired Brian Kelly.
• 13:28
[SPEAKER_02]: That was you did that.
• 13:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And kiffin didn't get on a plane and go to Gainesville or Baton Rouge.
• 13:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And as far as I'm concerned,
• 13:37
[SPEAKER_02]: his family committed no mortal sin by going to take a look at the places.
• 13:42
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's a possibility.
• 13:43
[SPEAKER_02]: So they went and did that.
• 13:45
[SPEAKER_02]: And as far as owing something to Ole Miss, I mean, you look at his record.
• 13:52
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's 54 and 19 since he got there.
• 13:54
  [SPEAKER_02]: 49 and 14 since 2021.
• 13:58
[SPEAKER_02]: He's had three consecutive 10 win seasons.
• 14:01
[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't Kiffin from Tennessee when he was there one year and then ditched the place.
• 14:08
[SPEAKER_02]: He's been there for six years now.
• 14:10
[SPEAKER_02]: He's built up enough equity.
• 14:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's repayed the debt that he might have owed Ole Miss.
• 14:18
[SPEAKER_02]: So I guess if I were Ole Miss and I was the one and Penny Nunner reports, he believed
• 14:26
[SPEAKER_02]: either a hard or soft deadline on Kiffin to make up his mind.
• 14:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I were a Kiffin, I would say, hey, look, do you mind if we least get through the Mississippi State game?
• 14:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to get us to a college football playoff here.
• 14:40
[SPEAKER_02]: So what does he owe them?
• 14:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he owes him some sort of timely response, but this idea that he has to tell them right now, or otherwise he's morally bankrupt, just boggles my mind.
• 14:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I agree that he can say it, let's wait until after the egg bowl and see if we're in or out of the playoff.
• 15:07
  [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
• 15:08
[SPEAKER_01]: But at that point, is he in or out of the playoff becomes the story to me?
• 15:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And at that point, you do need to make a decision.
• 15:17
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to coach the playoff or you're not.
• 15:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't imagine not coaching in the playoff.
• 15:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Whether this is nobody's fault or the system's fault or whatever college football forces these job decisions at a time that is wildly inconvenient to the actual season and I ate that and I hate the fact that coaches and schools feel compelled to worry about 2026 more than 2025.
• 15:48
[SPEAKER_01]: the fact that Kiffin is in this situation because we've got to secure the roster either at Ole Miss or at Florida or at LSU and we've got to get into the portal and we've got to recruit players.
• 16:03
[SPEAKER_01]: To me, if I were LSU or Florida and I really was convinced the Lane Kiffin was the guy that's going to win us a national championship.
• 16:12
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't say Lane,
• 16:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Finish your duties there first.
• 16:15
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't care when it ends.
• 16:17
[SPEAKER_01]: If it's no, if it's December 20th, fine, if it's no new New Year's Day, fine, if it's late January, we'll live with it.
• 16:26
[SPEAKER_01]: But finish your duties there and we're not going to lose our minds because the portal in December of 2025 is going to decide the future of our program.
• 16:36
[SPEAKER_01]: That's ridiculous to me, you're short-sighted, but that's how people live in Collins football.
• 16:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything is about right now and we can't get behind.
• 16:44
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think if we could just get everybody to breathe, then that includes Ole Miss on this and say,
• 16:52
[SPEAKER_01]: let this thing actually play out for a few minutes and then we'll decide are you taking you know are you interested in the jobs or not okay maybe you are but are you going to finish the job here then of course the attendant concern is there are you going to really finish the job
• 17:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Like Kirby Smart did when he's defensive coordinator, Nenic Sabin, but on his way to Georgia and do the job, or you're going to be like Lane Kiffin was.
• 17:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when he's the offensive coordinator at Alabama.
• 17:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's half in and half out.
• 17:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And Sabin fired him after a semi-final in which they're offense stunk.
• 17:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, there's a lot involved here.
• 17:27
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot, and I don't know the best way to handle it.
• 17:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Other than this is what college football has done and tolerates.
• 17:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I saw him at the Georgia Texas game and said, you know, you've got this situation in your league.
• 17:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything that can be legislated in terms of when you go after coaches more like the NFL.
• 17:54
[SPEAKER_01]: And so he basically shrugged his shoulders like I controlled.
• 17:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I can control and he did not consider this part of it.
• 18:01
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Gino, you guys got anything else on that front before we move on.
• 18:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I guess I'd bring up the point, you know, Ole Miss is getting it short and a bunch on this, but, and you're going to bring up the idea of, um,
• 18:21
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, what should the committee do?
• 18:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that seems like the natural segue here, right?
• 18:25
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
• 18:26
[SPEAKER_02]: So if that's the question, I guess I would ask another question.
• 18:32
[SPEAKER_02]: What if the New York Giants came after Ryan Day right now and said, we need to head coach, yes or no, right now, and Ryan Day said, yes.
• 18:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Or if they went to Marcus Freeman in Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame said yes, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I've got to take the Giants job with the committee drop Notre Dame down would it eliminate Ohio state of course not so to ask the same question about Ole Miss.
• 19:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure that's it's it's a fair question to ask you know if you're talking about a player and we always go back to the floor to state situation with Travis.
• 19:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was a different circumstance.
• 19:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I think the power of a star player on the field outweighs a head coach.
• 19:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And we can argue what a great play caller laying kiffin is.
• 19:36
[SPEAKER_02]: But go look at what the backup quarterbacks of FSU did after Travis went out.
• 19:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they were horrific.
• 19:44
[SPEAKER_02]: And in many ways, I could not blame the committee for saying if they can't function on the field.
• 19:52
[SPEAKER_02]: then we have to reassess if they belong in this playoff.
• 19:57
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it's a little bit apples zucchini with kiffin versus a player, but I see where the question needs to be asked.
• 20:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just not sure I would penalize Ole Miss or I would penalize Notre Dame or O'Hio State if the same decisions were made.
• 20:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think the same question would be an effect if it was Marcus Freeman or Ryan Day.
• 20:21
  [SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely do.
• 20:23
[SPEAKER_01]: The good news is, and those, you know, two guys that in Manland, Kiffin, maybe as a candidate for the giants were very good in the end.
• 20:31
[SPEAKER_01]: But the NFL doesn't demand an answer in November.
• 20:35
  [SPEAKER_01]: Thank God.
• 20:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I see you got a job to do, go do it.
• 20:38
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk after our season, which ends even later.
• 20:42
  [SPEAKER_01]: So,
• 20:43
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it may be if it's mid-genueary and Ohio State and or Notre Dame is still in it, they'd be pushing for more of an answer, but the NFL, thankfully, there is no transfer portal in the NFL where you can have be immediately eligible to leave and lose your entire roster.
• 21:00
[SPEAKER_01]: People that are under contract to a franchise that have to stay there.
• 21:04
  [SPEAKER_01]: So that I think's a different story.
• 21:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Brian, go ahead, I'm sorry, I kind of cut you off.
• 21:10
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I mean, I think it is funny, you know, you mentioned the NFL, like it's such a different, you know, entity compared to what what college football is in terms of the coaching searches.
• 21:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, in the NFL, you're saying, all right, hey, we've completed an interview with XYZ coach, you know, like they're publicly announcing it, you know, and it's just so open and so honest and sort of freshing and so different from what we get in college and you're right, Pat, I mean, like just the calendar itself, you know, like they are not pushing for any kind of decisions, but you know,
• 21:40
[SPEAKER_00]: It would impact I think a lot of these teams in terms of what the committee should do with them.
• 21:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, old mess, you know, Lane Kevin's the the plate color.
• 21:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's as much as Charlie White's juniors is the OC there in Oxford.
• 21:52
  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's laying that's in there.
• 21:54
  [SPEAKER_00]: He's he's scheming up things.
• 21:55
[SPEAKER_00]: He's the one calling place.
• 21:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's significantly impacts.
• 21:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the rebels may be more than any other coaching situation.
• 22:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: amongst these playoff teams.
• 22:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you mentioned Ryan Day there, you know, like, I mean, I think Ohio State as a whole, that's an organization that could probably overcome Ryan, the loss of Ryan Day.
• 22:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not successfully, but I think they could overcome that scenario, you know, I think Marcus Freeman maybe more of a, more of a hands-on coach in terms of the motivation tactics.
• 22:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he's hands-on with the defense, like I think that would have an impact in Notre Dame, especially given where they are in the at large debate,
• 22:31
[SPEAKER_00]: then Miami, some of these other teams.
• 22:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's there's going to be a whole host of debates in terms of who are those last couple of that largest in this year, especially with the number of 10 and two teams that we're going to have.
• 22:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the committee would have to consider it almost as much as the start quarterback going down.
• 22:48
[SPEAKER_00]: They would have to consider who's who's calling plays who's running the organization because in that compressed timeframe, especially with with the playoff.
• 22:57
[SPEAKER_00]: and in terms of those games coming, you know, pretty quickly having change over your traveling, your doing bowl events, that sort of thing, your doing media events, like it actually could impact one of these teams and it wouldn't surprise me at all, say Lane Kiffin leaves that the committee dox old miss in terms of maybe they're taking away a home playoff game if he doesn't up leaving.
• 23:16
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're not longer the number 16 that we saw for most of the season because your play callers gone.
• 23:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the committee would have to consider it.
• 23:24
[SPEAKER_01]: But fellas, yeah, I think so too.
• 23:27
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 23:27
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
• 23:27
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, Pat.
• 23:28
  [SPEAKER_02]: Go ahead.
• 23:29
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I just did one other thing.
• 23:30
  [SPEAKER_02]: I just think you're you're putting the committee.
• 23:33
[SPEAKER_02]: in a really tough spot to divine what percentage affect a head coach has on a team and and comparing what Ryan Day or Marcus Freeman does and we just threw them out there versus what
• 23:54
[SPEAKER_02]: that's a bit of a slippery slope to me, but I understand your points.
• 23:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I just think I don't know how a committee can put a percentage on something like that, a value on something like that, and then go to some sort of chart and say, well, because it's Lane Kiff and he calls the plays, we have to drop them this far.
• 24:16
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just no precedent for that.
• 24:19
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no precedent with a coach, you're right, but there was the precedent as you mentioned with Jordan Travis at Florida State, and the one thing the committee did have there was at least a look at what Florida State was without him.
• 24:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 24:33
[SPEAKER_01]: In theory, you would not have an idea what Ole Miss is without Lane, but I, I mean, I agree with Brian that he, I mean, he is the play column is widely considered one of the
• 24:44
[SPEAKER_01]: one or two best play colors in college football.
• 24:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So his his hands on a fact.
• 24:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll agree with you on that of course.
• 24:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 24:50
[SPEAKER_01]: His hands on effect on an actual game.
• 24:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I think is pretty significant.
• 24:54
[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw Florida State without Jordan Travis and it was ugly.
• 24:59
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know the Charlie twice.
• 25:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: Junior's any good.
• 25:01
  [SPEAKER_01]: But theoretically he's he's good.
• 25:03
[SPEAKER_01]: You know that I mean, Kiffin probably wouldn't have him on his staff.
• 25:05
[SPEAKER_01]: But when you're the offensive coordinator in a lane Kiffin offense, he's calling the plays not Charlie.
• 25:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: Why so.
• 25:12
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... i i mean it would not suspect shock me if all miss went from hosting a home game to being a visitor at uh... the first round of playoff which would
• 25:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Dira would prevent, almost from arguably, Dan Watson, our friend wrote this.
• 25:30
[SPEAKER_01]: There's arguably the biggest sporting event in the history of the state.
• 25:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Mississippi hosting a college football playoff game.
• 25:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I think is a massive, massive thing.
• 25:40
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of things that are at play here.
• 25:43
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of incredible stakes that people are trying to sort through and then that some of which will fall to the community,
• 25:53
[SPEAKER_01]: He's doesn't if he he comes out and says I'm not going to coach the playoff or Ole Miss is guess what you're not going to coach the play off.
• 25:59
[SPEAKER_02]: But you might be right Pat, you know, else you and Florida might be saying.
• 26:05
  [SPEAKER_02]: Take your time.
• 26:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but Ole Miss is saying hey, we got to know something.
• 26:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we we just don't know what's going on behind the scenes right now right right and I would love to get some insight on that and.
• 26:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to think those schools would at least have the wear with all in the perspective to say take your time, but I'm not sure that's the case in their either.
• 26:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, Florida's 80 is a Mississippi state alum.
• 26:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So there is that that that that angle to this as well.
• 26:31
[SPEAKER_00]: So I was I will throw that out there with that with Scott Skurickland, and especially with Mississippi State going for bowl eligibility in this egg bowl.
• 26:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it actually means a lot to them.
• 26:39
[SPEAKER_00]: in terms of the future of that program and what Jeff LeBee has been able to accomplish it.
• 26:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Mississippi's day has not been a pushover even though so this like adding this to that everything going on and with the by week leading into an egg bowl like there's just so much like a tension and focus and it really just kind of adds on top of the craziest rivalry I think one one of the craziest rivalries in the SC this is just like a perfect layer that we will not be talking about like we will put this up there with the the dog peeing incident I think
• 27:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, now the egg bowl, like the iron bowl has all the kind of panache of the greatest rivalry, but the egg bowl has the crazy.
• 27:17
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 27:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and not that there's not crazy with the iron bowl, but usually with the iron bowl, somebody's trying to get to a national championship.
• 27:26
[SPEAKER_01]: As I've said before, the egg bowl oftentimes has been two teams gouging each other's eyes out just for the right to be bowl eligible.
• 27:34
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, it is, it is a different deal.
• 27:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Last topic on the Lane Kiffin situation.
• 27:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Simply put, Jane, if you were Lane, what would you do?
• 27:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, are you in Texas Tech and SMU and who else might forget?
• 27:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Arizona State, they've proven that you can reach the playoff by not necessarily being one of the brand names in college football.
• 28:03
[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe this is a year that a school like Texas Tech or IU wins a national championship and proves that you can win a national championship by not being one of the sort called brand programs.
• 28:16
  [SPEAKER_02]: But
• 28:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I still believe long-term LSU would give Kiffin the best chance to win national championships, to win SEC championships on a more regular basis than if he were to stay at Ole Miss.
• 28:34
[SPEAKER_02]: For all the obvious reasons, I think they have the resources recruiting, we've discussed this throughout our podcasts season.
• 28:43
[SPEAKER_02]: But the one thing I would recommend that he do, and I'm not even sure it would work anymore in this NIL age of mega donors and boosters.
• 28:52
[SPEAKER_02]: But remember what Nick Sabin did when he went to Bama?
• 28:56
[SPEAKER_02]: He got there and he said, well, we're not doing the boosters, telling us what to do, we're not athletic director, I appreciate your input, but those days are over.
• 29:07
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm running the program.
• 29:11
[SPEAKER_02]: if Kiffin could go to LSU or Florida or even staying at Ole Miss and saying the same thing, this is my deal now.
• 29:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the emperor of all things connected to this program.
• 29:27
[SPEAKER_02]: If you could get those assurances, those promises, then to me that's a game changer.
• 29:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just not sure if that's even possible these days anymore.
• 29:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I think in this playoff area, we've kind of seen it last year, even with Ohio State, you have to have some sort of depth.
• 29:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the ability to win multiple rounds of the playoff to get to that national title game we saw with Ohio State last year.
• 29:50
[SPEAKER_00]: You get guys that thing off, it's a line go down.
• 29:53
[SPEAKER_00]: You need somebody that can come in and play in those key spots.
• 29:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you are just simply better positioned to land those type of players at a place like LSU or old men or LSU or Florida.
• 30:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think if that's the case, and that's in the back of your mind if you're a link if and you really want to be a national title winning head coach, I almost think you got to go.
• 30:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, you could have a statue built there at Old Miss.
• 30:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, they have gotten things.
• 30:19
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, aligned in terms of the NIL in terms of where they are as a program in terms of how they're recruiting, but I do still think there is a bit of a glass ceiling at that place and at LSU we've seen less miles when a national title and nobody's thinking he's the on the same plane in terms of exes and knows that lane kiffin is and I think if I were lane I would go to LSU that I mean not only don't do you do you just love baton Rouge itself and everything that goes on there and being able to to get a good meal there, but in terms of the entire state.
• 30:49
[SPEAKER_00]: pulling in the right direction, pulling in your direction.
• 30:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that would be the most attractive option.
• 30:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And I also think maybe in the back of his mind too, you know, as he's considering these options, yes, he would love to be at a place like Florida, be with Steve Spurrier in the office, you know, every day like I mean, those guys could start a podcast and it would be the most listened to thing in college football between the headball coach and Lane Kiffin going back and forth
• 31:15
[SPEAKER_00]: you know throw in your second motion.
• 31:17
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right, right.
• 31:19
[SPEAKER_00]: But throw in your throwing zingers at each other and and and Tennessee again and you know other SEC programs like that would be great, but I also think at the back in the back of his mind, you know, like there's not.
• 31:30
[SPEAKER_00]: an LSU coach, I think, even the last, you know, a couple of years that that fan base could really rally behind and say, alright, he's our guy.
• 31:37
[SPEAKER_00]: He could be that guy at LSU.
• 31:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe even overtake, given the, the animosity with LSU and the hard feelings a little bit for Nick St. been going to Alabama and winning all those national titles.
• 31:48
[SPEAKER_00]: If he were to win a national title at LSU, to be embraced by that fan base, I'm not saying they would build a statue of him, but they
• 31:57
[SPEAKER_00]: then at any other place and I think it's just the ability to win, you could take that tiger's job and that would be the one.
• 32:04
[SPEAKER_00]: If I were laying Kiffin, that's where I'd go.
• 32:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do what Gene says I should not do and I'm going to apply my job sensibilities to laying Kiffin here and I will say this.
• 32:20
[SPEAKER_01]: if if I were laying kiffin and again this is easy to say sitting here podcast johnny looking at the window of my house here i'm not in the belly of this beast but i would say to the schools that were interested me i've got to finish the job here if that's a deal breaker it's a deal breaker so if if you can't live with that i'm moving on
• 32:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say to Ole Miss, I want to finish the job here.
• 32:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm probably going to leave afterwards, but I want to finish the job here.
• 32:53
  [SPEAKER_01]: If that's a deal breaker with them, it's a damn shame.
• 32:56
[SPEAKER_01]: It really is, you know, it would be, but as a coach, your credibility, so much lies in being able to get everybody to buy into something.
• 33:08
[SPEAKER_01]: a season and you start in January, you know, and it's all, you hear this from coaches constantly, where we really were forced was, you know, the hard winter workouts, and then the spring practice and then the summer when everybody stayed in his con campus and worked together.
• 33:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you go through all of that and you're having this season and you're ten and one.
• 33:29
[SPEAKER_01]: And you get to this point.
• 33:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
• 33:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'm out.
• 33:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I, and yes, it's simple to say, no, you should stay and finish the job as opposed to taking a better job somewhere else.
• 33:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: But that's what I'm saying.
• 33:41
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
• 33:42
[SPEAKER_01]: If it comes down to it, priority one finished the job.
• 33:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Priority two, figure it out thereafter.
• 33:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's my free advice to Lane Kiffin.
• 33:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I would say Patta like I mean, if he does stay and let's say LSU or Florida pass them up like there will be bigger jobs potentially on the rise and then link it's still good.
• 34:01
[SPEAKER_00]: He could still go to the NFL, you know, I think that would still be an option, you know, maybe maybe his old pal Steve Starkesian ends up going to the NFL at some point in the next couple of years.
• 34:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I know he vehemently denied that yesterday.
• 34:13
[SPEAKER_00]: on the SEC teleconference, but, you know, it remains a possibility and then Texas comes open.
• 34:18
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, maybe he loves Austin.
• 34:19
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's another place you win in a national title.
• 34:21
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there, there are a number of things.
• 34:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Kaylin DeBore ends up leaving Alabama or his forced out and his old job where he can needle Nick Sabin constantly in person.
• 34:31
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... comes open maybe that's an option so that there could be bigger jobs out there as well that he could take if you wanted to stay atleast right now and and see this out so like it is not crazy to think that uh... you know like kiffin could still go through this again in another year like that that's on the table yeah all right enough kiffin for now uh... james franklin we talked plenty about him he has landed at virginia tech what a twenty twenty five for james franklin
• 35:01
[SPEAKER_01]: basically a player to away from playing in the national championship last January, uh, built everything up for a championship run.
• 35:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: It collapsed spectacularly.
• 35:12
[SPEAKER_01]: He was fired six games into this year at Penn State.
• 35:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's the coach of the Virginia Tech hockies.
• 35:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Give us your action, Brian.
• 35:22
[SPEAKER_01]: What we used your thoughts on on the fit there and him landing there.
• 35:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and our coaching grades, I get this in a, because I think it's just a great fit for both parties.
• 35:30
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he obviously knows that really the entire Atlantic seaboard there.
• 35:35
[SPEAKER_00]: So well, he has so, so many good relationships up there that, that I think he can, can recruit well.
• 35:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, some, some tremendous players that come out of not only the tide water, but just the DMV area that he can have access to.
• 35:47
  [SPEAKER_00]: So,
• 35:48
[SPEAKER_00]: in terms of like being able to build up Virginia Tech, I think it's a home run for them in terms of what they need at this point, especially given the increased resources that they're going to have theoretically at their disposal that they've been talking about, I think James Franklin is a builder and I think he's going to be super energized
• 36:05
[SPEAKER_00]: By the fact, not only what happened at Penn State, but this is kind of his, his, him, this is what kind of suits him best being able to build being able to go out there and be a salesman, you know, go on radios, you know, radio shows, you know, on random Tuesdays in the middle of the season like that that's that's James Franklin, which frankly he was not really allowed to kind of kind of do at the, at the last couple of years there in Penn State.
• 36:28
[SPEAKER_00]: He was not no longer building.
• 36:29
[SPEAKER_00]: He was trying to sustain and then, you know, elevate that that last little bit there at Penn State and that.
• 36:34
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a difficult job, but in terms of building a program, building it up, starting to win, especially in the ACC, where you're not competing against the Ohio States and Michigan's of the world.
• 36:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a great fit for James Franklin.
• 36:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a great fit for Virginia Tech, and I can't wait to see it play out there in Blacksburg.
• 36:52
[SPEAKER_02]: It's also, you know, it raises all ships in the ACC, I mean, we constantly say what a train wreck the ACC is.
• 37:00
  [SPEAKER_02]: Well, guess what?
• 37:01
[SPEAKER_02]: They just got a really good coach added to that roster in that conference.
• 37:06
[SPEAKER_02]: But to me, the biggest winner is Penn State.
• 37:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: They went from
• 37:12
[SPEAKER_02]: It went from 0.49 million to 9 million.
• 37:15
[SPEAKER_02]: So that was a $40 million celebration day for Penn State.
• 37:20
[SPEAKER_02]: When Franklin took that job, but really, it's a win-win, win-win for all parties concerned on this one.
• 37:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
• 37:30
  [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think
• 37:31
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I, both of what you guys said rings true, Brian is right, he is a builder and this is his sweet spot right now is give me a chance to get everyone excited to go get better players and start ramping this thing up we'll see if he can ramp it all the way up that's been the sticking point, but also genius Penn State is is tickled.
• 37:53
[SPEAKER_01]: at the way this turned out.
• 37:56
[SPEAKER_01]: More money to blow on the next coach.
• 37:58
  [SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
• 37:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure they'll do a fine job with the search.
• 38:01
[SPEAKER_01]: But the one caveat here, I think he's going to do great and I think it's great for the ACC, absolutely which needs all the heavyweight coaches that can get and all the positive news that I can get.
• 38:17
[SPEAKER_01]: The concern here is that Franklin,
• 38:20
[SPEAKER_01]: the feeling to me is like Franklin's coming in on a level higher, maybe than Virginia Tech plays on.
• 38:26
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's going to be maybe a field T2 to James Franklin that is dangerous because he is somebody that constantly squeezes the lemon.
• 38:37
[SPEAKER_01]: He's always wanting more, more, more.
• 38:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I need more of this.
• 38:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I need more of that.
• 38:42
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's high maintenance, frankly.
• 38:44
  [SPEAKER_01]: And he pushes
• 38:48
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got to have some element of backbone of saying, yeah, look, we're going to give you what we can.
• 38:55
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to apparently ramp things up a lot in terms of our financial commitment.
• 39:00
[SPEAKER_01]: But if it's a constant 360 days a year of James Franklin coming into the 80s office saying, look, I need this.
• 39:08
  [SPEAKER_01]: I need that.
• 39:08
  [SPEAKER_01]: We're not doing this.
• 39:09
  [SPEAKER_01]: We're not doing that.
• 39:10
[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be kind of miserable.
• 39:12
[SPEAKER_01]: So needs to be a little bit of pushback on James the Empire Builder.
• 39:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but did you hear him in the, uh, his comments, uh, at his, uh, hello on here, uh, presser.
• 39:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was basically, hey, everybody has to take a hard look at how we're going to elevate this program to a national championship level.
• 39:33
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's talking about the marketing department, and, you know, uh, all these other departments.
• 39:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: And so,
• 39:40
  [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly to your point.
• 39:42
[SPEAKER_02]: He's already making it clear.
• 39:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody's a cannibal just not me.
• 39:46
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm not the only one who's a cannibal here, but Virginia Tech has What committed what $229 million toward the FLEG programs there.
• 39:58
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a huge step in the right direction.
• 40:01
[SPEAKER_01]: It is absolutely you know, and that
• 40:03
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, they need some return on investment to keep those people invested for a long period of time.
• 40:09
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's the other thing.
• 40:10
[SPEAKER_01]: His friend is only 53 years old.
• 40:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he could have a long runway there if he chooses to do so.
• 40:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
• 40:18
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, outside of coaching news, there was, of course, another playoff ranking reveal this week.
• 40:26
  [SPEAKER_01]: The big news there.
• 40:28
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... alabama dropped out oklahoma moved in both of those direct results of them playing each other in tuscalusa texas took a big drop down to seventeen and poor hundred year a check is now the guy that has to sit in the seat and explain everything to us the aidie at Arkansas who's the bullpen chairman of the committee now that mac roads is out and
• 40:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just say it was a tough first start.
• 40:54
  [SPEAKER_01]: I thought for Hunter.
• 40:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think he necessarily articulated the vision of the committee very well in a few areas.
• 41:00
[SPEAKER_01]: But that comes with the job.
• 41:03
[SPEAKER_01]: And what all the really manc matters is the rankings.
• 41:06
  [SPEAKER_01]: Just real quick.
• 41:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Ohio State still number one, Indiana 2.
• 41:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: Texas A&M 3, Georgia 4, Texas Tech 5, Ole Miss 6, Oregon 7, Oklahoma 8, Notre Dame 9,
• 41:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama 10 and then you're 11 and 12 would be Miami as the ACC rep, which is actually number 13 and to lane as the group of five rep, which is number 24 in the rankings.
• 41:36
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that's the rankings of staying out anything jump out before we get into commenters commenting on comments.
• 41:44
[SPEAKER_00]: No other than the, well, we'll get it to the Miami debate, but the fact is that there's not going to be the ACC rep given that there's a lot that has to happen for Miami to make the ACC championship game.
• 41:56
[SPEAKER_00]: So they are playing for an at large bid, not for the ACC spot.
• 42:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yes, good point right now.
• 42:02
[SPEAKER_01]: They're they're outside of the path to get into the Charlotte game.
• 42:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, uh, T's this new show element.
• 42:14
[SPEAKER_01]: commenters commented on comments presented by Facebook we think our sponsors at Facebook producer Kent did the hard work here he scoured the college football team Facebook groups for the most interesting comments of the week and then we get to comment on them.
• 42:33
[SPEAKER_01]: So this will be a new weekly feature.
• 42:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And we start with Jared, who asks as Brian teased, why even play the damn games, if Miami is still ranked behind Notre Dame?
• 42:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Brian, you wrote about it Tuesday night.
• 42:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Tell us what you think here.
• 42:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my column certainly took off on Tuesday night with a lot of angry Miami fans and they have very right to be angry.
• 42:56
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's like that game against Notre Dame never happened like it was vacated by the NCAA at this point because the committee has not talked about Miami beating Notre Dame at all.
• 43:07
[SPEAKER_00]: They're saying they're on two different planes of existence, and they've talked more about that being a loss for Notre Dame, a positive loss for the Irish, rather than being a positive win for Miami.
• 43:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that was the takeaway for me in terms of not only what Hunter was saying on ESPN, but saying afterwards to the media, and the teleconference was, hey, we're looking at those losses.
• 43:31
[SPEAKER_00]: The so-and-so-lost of this team, so-and-so-lost of that team, and that is completely different from what we've been accustomed to with the committee.
• 43:38
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about top 25 went, so have you beaten?
• 43:41
[SPEAKER_00]: What's that ceiling on these teams?
• 43:44
[SPEAKER_00]: And right now we're looking more at the floors, and I think that's the biggest change this year on this committee, and maybe it's just the way they're explaining things, maybe that's just what they've gone to in terms of, here's the go-to,
• 43:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: But you're right.
• 43:57
  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Jared's completely right.
• 43:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Why are they still playing the games?
• 44:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I get that they can be on different, you know, not not compared directly at this point in the season, but to not really talk about Miami beating Notre Dame at this point.
• 44:10
  [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's crazy.
• 44:11
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Miami fans have every right to be upset right now, given their treatment by the committee.
• 44:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that spills over to a lot of other teams in the top 25 as well.
• 44:20
[SPEAKER_02]: You got to do a better job on Jared the next time, all right, on the angry meter.
• 44:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Why have him play the damn games?
• 44:30
  [SPEAKER_01]: I apologize.
• 44:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I'll read with more inactive.
• 44:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Please, because Jared was not that calm when he wrote that.
• 44:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I would, I would counsel everybody just to,
• 44:42
[SPEAKER_02]: give it a minute, you know, things happen.
• 44:44
  [SPEAKER_02]: They always do.
• 44:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Are they going to happen with Miami or Notre Dame?
• 44:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but we have seen in the past that things always sort of shake out in a way that we don't expect.
• 44:57
[SPEAKER_02]: but Brian, you know, look, you did write about it and it's obvious that the committee and I never served them one of those mock committees that they bring writers in to, you know, pretend to be a committee member.
• 45:10
[SPEAKER_02]: But it's clear that they have no-tergame on a completely different tier than Miami.
• 45:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And because they're on a higher tier and not even close in their minds, they don't compare the two teams.
• 45:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And because they don't compare the two teams, that win by Miami doesn't really come into effect with them or doesn't have enough impact yet to come into effect to them.
• 45:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Do I understand it all?
• 45:37
[SPEAKER_02]: No, but that's clearly where they are.
• 45:39
[SPEAKER_01]: They absolutely have a man crush on on Notre Dame right now.
• 45:54
  [SPEAKER_01]: of Miami.
• 45:55
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure why.
• 45:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure why.
• 45:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess beating USC in South Bend is doing a lot of work on the resume because that's the only quality win they've got.
• 46:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas Miami has a quality win over Notre Dame itself.
• 46:12
[SPEAKER_01]: So I understand the Miami fans' consternation out of that.
• 46:17
  [SPEAKER_01]: Did jeans point?
• 46:19
[SPEAKER_01]: These things do have a way of sorting themselves out and I think the
• 46:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Miami Notre Dame stay on a course to both be 10 and 2.
• 46:28
[SPEAKER_01]: The more they're going to be forced to put those two head to head.
• 46:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, and Miami did have a couple of clunkers there.
• 46:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they did look bad and the committee has made no secret that the eye test is part of their their equation this year.
• 46:46
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's definitely something that's coming to play here too.
• 46:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it hurt Miami that Louisville has just tanked the last couple of weeks.
• 46:56
[SPEAKER_01]: If that's no longer quite the quality loss, it was since we're in the quality losses.
• 47:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Jesse asks, if you ask, I really, I really like this question.
• 47:09
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I need to put
• 47:15
  [SPEAKER_01]: if U.S.C.
• 47:17
[SPEAKER_01]: and Michigan went out, who is in, and who is out for the F.P.
• 47:23
  [SPEAKER_01]: Between U.S.C.
• 47:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Miami, Alabama.
• 47:29
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot of teams to try to run through.
• 47:31
[SPEAKER_01]: But the basic point is, if all those teams finish with two losses, who gets in?
• 47:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, look, you're going to have to check my CFP math on this, all right?
• 47:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm sure I'm going to miss something here.
• 47:48
[SPEAKER_02]: But if USC and Michigan went out and Bama wins out and noted Dame wins out, and Miami wins out, then USC is in as a big 10 champs, right?
• 48:00
  [SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
• 48:01
  [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
• 48:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Oregon would be definitely out.
• 48:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Bama would be definitely in.
• 48:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Am I good so far?
• 48:09
[SPEAKER_01]: But wait, how does USC get into the big 10 championship again?
• 48:12
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you see in Michigan went out, the big 10 championship.
• 48:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, would they usually be in USC Indiana without that?
• 48:19
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
• 48:20
  [SPEAKER_02]: USC Indiana.
• 48:21
[SPEAKER_02]: So USC is in there.
• 48:23
  [SPEAKER_02]: All right.
• 48:23
[SPEAKER_02]: We're saying they all went out.
• 48:24
  [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
• 48:25
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
• 48:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And then Michigan and USC are both 10 and 2.
• 48:29
  [SPEAKER_02]: Michigan would have what?
• 48:31
[SPEAKER_02]: would have to be called the best win of the season, right?
• 48:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Being number one Ohio State.
• 48:37
[SPEAKER_02]: So we talk about Miami Notre Dame, but to me, a really interesting and intriguing scenario is that how would you compare Notre Dame and Michigan, if Michigan has beaten
• 48:53
  [SPEAKER_02]: No.
• 48:53
[SPEAKER_02]: 1 Ohio State and Notre Dame's best win would be against the Big Ken Champion USC, which being Michigan, Michigan.
• 49:07
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's where it starts getting intriguing as far as what's going to happen to Miami.
• 49:12
  [SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea.
• 49:14
  [SPEAKER_02]: I honestly don't.
• 49:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you guys can figure that out, but I just couldn't figure it out.
• 49:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to depend on whether Alabama wins the SEC championship game if they won that obviously you know that would be the same banner wins out if so if they went out there there are automatically and so like there's no no debate over the tied getting in there in that case I think the question would be Oklahoma which beat Michigan
• 49:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, would would be that large and be Alabama so right they would have to be and so I I think in this this scenario where it were to play out Oregon's definitely out Notre Dame is definitely out in Miami is definitely out and and so I think that actually solves a a pretty Interesting conundrum that we were just talking about in terms of that Notre Dame Miami debate all right, well, this kind of throws that all out the window
• 49:56
[SPEAKER_00]: and it would be, you know, obviously, you know, you got the two automatic qualifiers in Alabama and, and, and USC.
• 50:03
[SPEAKER_00]: So they're in, you know, Ohio State and Indiana are going to be in as with one losses.
• 50:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And, and I think this would send the Trojan to the Rose Bowl, honestly, because I think they would at 10 and 2 and be in big 10 champs.
• 50:13
[SPEAKER_00]: They would probably get that number four seed, which would send them to the Rose Bowl in the quarter final.
• 50:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you throw all that in there and it's, it's a great chaos scenario.
• 50:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, so, so, appreciate it, Jesse, for that one.
• 50:24
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't appreciate Jesse for that when my head exploded trying to figure it out.
• 50:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you guys did a better job than I did.
• 50:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't even understand all the permutations, but that would be unbelievable.
• 50:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see about the first domino of that that would have to happen, which would be USC winning at Watson Stadium this weekend.
• 50:43
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 50:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Rachel asks, if Texas tech wins out, do the red, let's think about my tone here.
• 50:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I think she's pretty confident they're going to win out.
• 50:56
[SPEAKER_01]: So if Texas tech wins out, do the red raiders get a first round buy.
• 51:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: I will lead here.
• 51:05
[SPEAKER_01]: the right they've been dominant they've been absolutely dominant other than the one loss to Arizona State which at the time had Sam Levitt at quarterback and we'll get to him in a minute.
• 51:13
[SPEAKER_01]: But the competition has not been great.
• 51:16
[SPEAKER_01]: They're playing, you know, a schedule that's not as good as the best teams in the SEC or even the best teams in the big ten.
• 51:25
  [SPEAKER_01]: They have
• 51:35
[SPEAKER_01]: ever wants to walk the walk on their constant talk of we want you to schedule good games.
• 51:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Then you say now Texas Tech didn't do it in the in the non-conference and we're going to put them fifth and leave them there and fifth is not a bad place to be.
• 51:51
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're going to get a home game, you're going to play a number 12 seed and then you're going to catch a number four seed on a neutral site that's probably fairly close to your team's ability.
• 52:01
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to say no Texas Tech does not get a first round buy, but that's not there would not hurt him.
• 52:12
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if you combine Jesse and Rachel's questions and maybe that upheaval, maybe Texas Tech does somehow get in the top four Brian knows this stuff better than you and me, but I'm with you Pat, I think five is a good spot actually and I think that's where Texas Tech belongs.
• 52:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, ironically, and obviously there's some interstate politics and the rivalry is going on here.
• 52:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it depends on Texas A&M, which the folks in love do do not like, but if if the Aggies were to lose the SEC championship game, I think that would be the scenario where they would probably move up into the top four and that would kick A&M to the five seats.
• 52:51
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that would probably be the Red Raiders Best Hope is if Texas A&M gets blown out particularly in Atlanta.
• 52:58
[SPEAKER_00]: And so then that would send them to, you know, the, the, the writer's to the cotton wool and probably face Texas tech as well.
• 53:04
[SPEAKER_00]: So like there's, there's that aspect of things.
• 53:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they leapfrog Georgia at all.
• 53:09
[SPEAKER_00]: The committee has pretty consistently had Georgia and then Texas tech throughout this entire, a couple, a couple weeks of process.
• 53:15
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that would be hard to see text tech even with another win over a top 25 team where it's BYU.
• 53:21
[SPEAKER_00]: or Utah in the big 12 title game, even if they were to blow them out, I still think it would be hard to see them passing Georgia.
• 53:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's an outside chance, but like you're saying, Pat, I mean, that five seed this year might be the place to be.
• 53:35
[SPEAKER_00]: You get that first round home game,
• 53:37
[SPEAKER_00]: It probably against the group of five team where that's to lane North Texas even.
• 53:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that would be the place where you're not sitting out.
• 53:44
[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that last year with the quarter finalists in terms of that layoff, that long layoff really kind of cost those teams.
• 53:50
[SPEAKER_00]: They were all rusty in the first half in particular.
• 53:52
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think if your Texas tech that five seed, man, you're saying, all right, that's perfectly fine by us.
• 53:58
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm sorry.
• 54:00
  [SPEAKER_02]: Would you put,
• 54:02
[SPEAKER_02]: One loss, Texas Tech, that lost Arizona State, over one loss, A&M that lost in the SEC championship to
• 54:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Bama, is that what we're saying right now?
• 54:15
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would.
• 54:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you look at Texas A&M and their resume itself.
• 54:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they didn't have played any of the top tier SEC games.
• 54:22
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, I mean, they're best when, you know, maybe Mizzou at this point, you know, like they just have not had those top tier wins and they will have played Texas obviously at the end of the season.
• 54:32
[SPEAKER_00]: So if they beat them to go to Atlanta, that would be a quality win of course, but, you know, for Texas Tech, their resume consists of beating Utah really with an avalanche
• 54:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And in beating me while you at home and maybe beating another one of those teams again, and yes, Arizona State has moved into the rankings that counts as a top 25 loss for them with some some circumstances with their backup quarterback on the road, that sort of thing, but I think for Georgia, they're a long loss being at Alabama, the way that they have played, especially if they can beat Georgia tech convincingly at the end of the year, I just think it would be too hard to pass those those two teams.
• 55:11
  [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
• 55:12
[SPEAKER_01]: non-conference schedule for Texas Tech, just as a reminder, Arkansas Pine Bluff Kent State Oregon State and a truly awful Oregon State.
• 55:22
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the rub there.
• 55:24
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, our last Facebook team page
• 55:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Sam Levitt is shopping himself to the highest bitter.
• 55:40
[SPEAKER_01]: How is this allowed during the freaking season?
• 55:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Question mark, exclamation point, question mark.
• 55:46
  [SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
• 55:46
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, did my best.
• 55:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Lane Kiffin, not the only one thinking I had to next year.
• 55:52
  [SPEAKER_01]: Gino?
• 55:53
[SPEAKER_01]: is love at doing a disservice to ASU or playing the game as it's currently constructed.
• 55:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's doing both.
• 56:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And for the record, his rep has said that the report that he's made a decision is untrue.
• 56:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: So he's they're shopping him obviously.
• 56:14
[SPEAKER_02]: They can't do anything to what what's the date January 2nd Yeah, when the portal opens.
• 56:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, so you know, I guess he's doing his due diligence look Everyone wanted players to have the freedom to move just like coaches have the freedom to move Well, they have the freedom and this is one of the consequences of it.
• 56:32
  [SPEAKER_02]: So there's a certain
• 56:35
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... mercenary uh... part of college football now and uh... who goes for the highest better so he's doing what a lot of other players uh... have done and are doing and we'll continue to do and this is why you have agents right you know and this is why coaches have agents this is why the players have agents and you know you go to the NFL and kind of use them as an example that that legal tampering period before free agency really starts that's kind of where we're at here in these last couple weeks of the regular season in college football and
• 57:04
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it is interesting, you know, the question mark I think for Sam Levitt is not just, you know, what kind of offers can you get out there?
• 57:11
[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, what development wise could as you still offer you, especially if, you know, you get some upgrades in terms of the portal.
• 57:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, you're playing for a head coach that can take you through the playoff and develop quarterbacks and has developed them well.
• 57:24
[SPEAKER_00]: What do you kind of leaving there at ASU beyond the monetary offers, you know, in terms of your pure development, if you really want to be a first round quarterback and really get the money, you know, I think that's one thing that that's hemolate price is not considering right now, but but when it does come to that decision point.
• 57:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you might be weighing a couple million dollars offers, but I'm curious how many of these kids that are, you know, kind of doing the same thing right now, or weighing, hey, where's my developmental path?
• 57:50
[SPEAKER_00]: If I stay here versus if I go just for the biggest offer, because we've seen that not play out well for a few other quarterbacks, the last couple of years.
• 57:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's a good point because Kenny Dillingham, I think did really good work of Bonyx who's doing rather well mostly in the NFL.
• 58:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wearing a Bronco hat, so my feelings on Bonyx are complicated, but the thing would love it, you know, I don't like it happening during the season, but he's injured and out for the year for one thing.
• 58:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Secondly, that dude laid it on the line for us.
• 58:26
[SPEAKER_01]: You, if you saw them this year, he took a lot of hits and a lot of shots and got up and kept playing until he couldn't play anymore.
• 58:34
[SPEAKER_01]: So I would not look at this and say, Sam Levitt is bailing on Arizona State per se.
• 58:41
[SPEAKER_02]: He's also losing his best wide receiver.
• 58:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, so Jordan Tyson is out.
• 58:46
  [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, you know,
• 58:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is another element of a side effect of a 12 team playoff, I think, too, though, is once you're out of playoff contention, people start doing their own things, you know, and that's just kind of the bed that college football is made and you're living in it.
• 59:05
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, beds that have been made, winners and state dinners, Brian Fisher has opened up a,
• 59:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, two game lead, over me.
• 59:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Gene, Gene, what happened during last place, even with the bear?
• 59:21
[SPEAKER_02]: How many games am I out?
• 59:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Just a, I'm one week away from regaining my rightful place.
• 59:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's where such a model of mediocrity that everybody's one week away from either first or last.
• 59:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Brian's 32 and 29 went three and two last week.
• 59:36
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'm 30 and 31 went four and one.
• 59:38
  [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Grat.
• 59:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Gene 30 and 32 with the bear went three and two.
• 59:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Good rebound from the 0 and 5.
• 59:45
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, in five, yeah.
• 59:46
[SPEAKER_02]: There's only one place up.
• 59:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 59:51
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's pick them for this week, guys.
• 59:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's try to rip through these in decent order.
• 59:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Start with the game that I mentioned, the biggest game of the week, USC, getting nine and a half at Oregon.
• 1:00:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Huge game obviously, big 10 playoff perspective.
• 1:00:08
[SPEAKER_01]: If Oregon wins, I think it really goes a long way towards clarifying things from a big 10 perspective.
• 1:00:14
[SPEAKER_01]: If USC wins, game on in a lot of ways.
• 1:00:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Trojans getting nine and a half, I'm gonna take USC here.
• 1:00:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: They're playing well.
• 1:00:26
[SPEAKER_01]: They have got skill talent.
• 1:00:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I skill saw skill talent hurt the ducks with Indiana.
• 1:00:32
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just, I like Oregon, but I haven't seen Oregon just dominate against good teams.
• 1:00:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen them dominate bad teams.
• 1:00:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm still holding out a little bit on the ducks.
• 1:00:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Oregon will probably win, but I don't think this is a boat race.
• 1:00:48
[SPEAKER_01]: So give me the Trojans and the points.
• 1:00:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I were reluctantly following you there with picking USC, you know, the ducks had the top past defense in the country's statistically.
• 1:01:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: McCuy limit in company.
• 1:01:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they are they are awesome this year.
• 1:01:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that you see passing tech Lincoln Riley will scheme up some things.
• 1:01:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I am just worried like I mean, that is a massive massive number and it started at seven.
• 1:01:11
[SPEAKER_00]: So this is going all on the ducks in terms of the line movement here.
• 1:01:15
[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty telling you something that.
• 1:01:17
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the flashing red balls at this point in terms of, hey, this is a warning in terms of maybe organ covering that number, especially at home in that environment in Watson.
• 1:01:28
  [SPEAKER_00]: I will just say U.S.E.
• 1:01:29
[SPEAKER_00]: five and twelve in the last four years against ranked opponents.
• 1:01:32
[SPEAKER_00]: They have beaten one, one ranked opponent outside of Los Angeles, the past decade.
• 1:01:37
[SPEAKER_00]: and an intrude road game.
• 1:01:39
[SPEAKER_00]: It beat UCLA in 2022, beat Washington back in 2016, 2016 and gets ranked teams outside of Los Angeles, which is an unfathomable number for USC there.
• 1:01:50
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think they win this game, but I think they do keep enough.
• 1:01:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Keep it close enough at least to at least cover the number.
• 1:01:58
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man, you guys.
• 1:02:00
[SPEAKER_02]: All right, well, I'm going to take Oregon.
• 1:02:04
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to give those nine and a half for a lot of reasons that Brian just said.
• 1:02:08
[SPEAKER_02]: But did you, I was looking at the USC, the first line of the USC game notes this week was, I kid you not.
• 1:02:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Quote, the conditions are perfect to head up north for a duck hunt.
• 1:02:23
[SPEAKER_02]: And then later, they reference a line from wedding crashes, something about killing birds.
• 1:02:30
  [SPEAKER_02]: All right.
• 1:02:31
[SPEAKER_02]: U.S. is feeling pretty good about itself.
• 1:02:34
[SPEAKER_02]: But Oregon has a lethal running game.
• 1:02:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's a physical team.
• 1:02:40
[SPEAKER_02]: They get them at odds, and they do have that number one pass defense that Brian referenced.
• 1:02:46
[SPEAKER_02]: They have some dudes, especially at tight end.
• 1:02:49
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm willing to give the nine and a half.
• 1:02:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Do I feel great about it?
• 1:02:53
[SPEAKER_02]: No, but you guys both took USC, and I need to make up some ground.
• 1:02:58
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll take the flyer.
• 1:03:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's bad counter programming, because there's quite likely the wrong.
• 1:03:04
  [SPEAKER_01]: So.
• 1:03:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, if you're going to make picks making them based on going opposite of what I'm doing is not a terrible strategy.
• 1:03:12
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not at all.
• 1:03:14
[SPEAKER_01]: SEC game of the week Missouri getting seven and a half at Oklahoma.
• 1:03:21
[SPEAKER_01]: This is an interesting one.
• 1:03:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Missouri's on its third string quarterback and he's a true freshman and you're going on the road against a hot team, but also a team that may be a little bit punched out.
• 1:03:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Oklahoma's had an unbelievable run of games here as one on the road at Tennessee and at Alabama.
• 1:03:39
[SPEAKER_01]: are they a little bit out of gas for this game they played last year a resumption of an old big eight big twelve rivalry and jackson Arnold literally fumbled the game to Missouri and the like the last minute.
• 1:03:53
[SPEAKER_01]: He's no longer there Missouri's a bit a bit of a different team, but they spread as they touch down plus a hook Brian what do you think?
• 1:04:01
[SPEAKER_00]: The hook is definitely definitely difficult in weighing on my decision, but I give me Oklahoma at home in this one.
• 1:04:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I just, you know, I've seen that defense up close in person for several times.
• 1:04:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I think print venables will have an answer for the running game for the Tigers, be able to slow that down at least and really force some bad decisions out of the quarterback.
• 1:04:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And we kind of saw that out of Tyson's in last week.
• 1:04:20
  [SPEAKER_00]: against Alabama.
• 1:04:21
[SPEAKER_00]: That was why they were able to win a game with just two hundred and twelve yards of offense on the road.
• 1:04:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I think John material, because that Mazu defenses is a little bit more pliable than what the tide have.
• 1:04:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they are able to find at least enough success to cover the number even though that hook out there is just hanging.
• 1:04:38
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's just hanging there.
• 1:04:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Pat, what year were you born in?
• 1:04:42
  [SPEAKER_02]: 1964.
• 1:04:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, last time, Mizzou won and Norman was 1966.
• 1:04:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: I remember it.
• 1:04:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay, I thought you would.
• 1:04:52
[SPEAKER_02]: There was talk that Bo Corbola might, maybe kind of come back for this game.
• 1:04:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's listed as doubtful.
• 1:05:01
[SPEAKER_02]: If I had his best interest in heart, I wouldn't bring them back against Oklahoma's defense.
• 1:05:07
[SPEAKER_02]: I do think to your point path, there will be a little bit of a let down, but Oklahoma is not guaranteed itself anything in the CFP.
• 1:05:15
[SPEAKER_02]: They still have a lot to play for.
• 1:05:17
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's at home.
• 1:05:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to give the points and take OU.
• 1:05:22
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm I'm with you guys.
• 1:05:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think the setup.
• 1:05:26
  [SPEAKER_01]: Well, difficult for Oklahoma.
• 1:05:28
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got their eyes on the big prize now and you play through fatigue and pain and those sorts of things when when you've got to play off bid on the line.
• 1:05:39
[SPEAKER_01]: It'll be closer, they'll cover the seven half.
• 1:05:41
[SPEAKER_01]: It'll be closer than the game I covered as a senior at the University of Missouri there when Oklahoma nudged Mizzou 77 and nothing.
• 1:05:51
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, close, close.
• 1:05:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I had about as much fun writing that game story as I've ever had, frankly.
• 1:05:57
[SPEAKER_02]: As going to an adult cheerleading competition,
• 1:06:01
  [SPEAKER_01]: It was incredible.
• 1:06:03
[SPEAKER_01]: I maybe not quite as incredible as watching adults in sequence, but I I enjoyed watching it just purely from the story perspective.
• 1:06:12
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Jean, let's talk about the big ACC game.
• 1:06:15
  [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
• 1:06:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, getting to and a half at Georgia Tech.
• 1:06:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Both these teams still trying to fight their way into an ACC championship game where you go on with this one.
• 1:06:27
[SPEAKER_02]: don't think pit is going to go over 13 and third downs.
• 1:06:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Again, don't think they're going to throw a pick six.
• 1:06:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't think Mason high and shell is going to throw for what?
• 1:06:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: Less than 150 yards.
• 1:06:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Is that what he had against Notre Dame?
• 1:06:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take the points and I'll take pit.
• 1:06:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I would join you in taking pit to somewhat reluctantly, you know, I think maybe Pat Nardouzi was, I was telling the truth in terms of looking ahead to this game and do maybe doing a little extra preparation during the Notre Dame week for this game in particular and trying to stop hands-heeing it with that line-backing core in particular, veteran group, a lot of guys that know how to make tackles, they can bow up at the line of scrimmage, give me pit plus two and a half and we'll ride with the doostrain here in the ACC.
• 1:07:17
  [SPEAKER_01]: Dang it boys.
• 1:07:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I really wanted to take pit.
• 1:07:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still going to take pit.
• 1:07:25
[SPEAKER_01]: I need some counter programming from you all, but there's the bottom line.
• 1:07:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Georgia Tech's defense is collapsing.
• 1:07:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they gave up 48 points in 583 yards to NC State.
• 1:07:37
[SPEAKER_01]: They gave up 34 points in 537 yards to BC.
• 1:07:42
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... pit will find some holes in the defense and will cover and probably win outright looking at you do in research that you know every once in a while not often don't don't don't expect it big twelve game be why you minus two and a half at nippert at Cincinnati night game they get a go in there at nippert especially at night uh... Brian what do you think here
• 1:08:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Wouldn't it be a perfectly Scott Satterfield to pull the upset here and make it to the big 12 title game a year after you know Cincinnati fans were not certainly luke warm over his tenure there in Cincinnati but give me BYU I think they they've kind of found their rhythm I think they're a veteran team at this point there there's no longer bear mock Meyer the freshman he he's he knows what he needs to do in that system I think they're just so tough you know I think they will out physical Cincinnati in this one and give me BYU to cover on the road
• 1:08:40
[SPEAKER_02]: belt to butt when BYU over TCU last week.
• 1:08:44
  [SPEAKER_02]: That was impressive.
• 1:08:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Since he's lost his last two games, I just think two teams going in different directions.
• 1:08:52
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'll take BYU.
• 1:08:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Did you say belt to butt when?
• 1:08:56
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 1:08:57
  [SPEAKER_02]: What is that?
• 1:08:59
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, didn't you see Lane Kiffin do that this past week?
• 1:09:02
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all
• 1:09:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You learn things when you come to this podcast on top of the, on top of the, the nomenclature.
• 1:09:15
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 1:09:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: Um, fine.
• 1:09:18
[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys are both taken by you, I'm taking Cincinnati.
• 1:09:21
  [SPEAKER_01]: This is my chance.
• 1:09:21
[SPEAKER_02]: You wouldn't take Georgia Tech.
• 1:09:23
  [SPEAKER_02]: But you'll take Cincinnati.
• 1:09:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
• 1:09:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
• 1:09:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I am going to take the barricades, uh, because Brian actually said it, Scott Satterfields the ultimate, he's digs when you think he's going to zag, he's zags when you think he's going to zig.
• 1:09:36
[SPEAKER_01]: You think they're going to win, they lose, you think they're going to lose, they win.
• 1:09:39
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're going to win.
• 1:09:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: Go barricades.
• 1:09:43
  [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
• 1:09:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Lock of the week, who has won?
• 1:09:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Go Brian, we always enjoy this.
• 1:09:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm going back to to the lovely sun belt, which I know you love Jean.
• 1:09:52
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:09:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Last week's Southern Miss was blown out by Texas State One and the more surprising results of the weekend.
• 1:09:58
[SPEAKER_00]: But they're just given a point and a half at South Alabama.
• 1:10:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Couple of head coaches who used to be on the staff together they're at Alabama.
• 1:10:05
[SPEAKER_00]: A couple of years ago, won a national title.
• 1:10:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Give me Charles Huff in the Golden Eagles to cover the one and a half against Major Apple White and company down there in Mobile Southern Miss one and a half.
• 1:10:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Fellows are a 31,000 undergrad students here at the University of Tennessee.
• 1:10:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Most of them weren't even born.
• 1:10:24
[SPEAKER_02]: the last time Tennessee beat Florida at the swamp, which was 2003.
• 1:10:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Tennessee has lost 10 consecutive games in Gainesville, 17 of the last 20 in the series.
• 1:10:37
[SPEAKER_02]: They haven't scored a rushing TD in Gainesville since 2017.
• 1:10:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And the three games of Florida has won this year, then against quality opponents.
• 1:10:48
[SPEAKER_02]: So obviously, I have to take Tennessee.
• 1:10:52
[SPEAKER_02]: for all the reasons that I don't even know why I'm taking tennis.
• 1:10:57
[SPEAKER_02]: The other then, law of averages, that at some point, Tennessee has to end this streak, and I actually do think that Florida sort of gave it it's all against Ole Miss last week, and this is maybe a good spot for Tennessee to come in and finally end this thing.
• 1:11:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
• 1:11:16
[SPEAKER_01]: We have a classic genome boomerang pick.
• 1:11:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Lead you one of the other and a classic deep cut from Brian from the Sunbelt.
• 1:11:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: Fantastic.
• 1:11:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to the SEC.
• 1:11:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Kentucky is getting nine and a half at Vanderbilt.
• 1:11:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd prefer it to be 10 or 10 and a half but it's 9 and a half can tell he's playing much better.
• 1:11:36
[SPEAKER_01]: They've won three in a row and I think they're looking to finish strong here and defense is pretty good quarterback cutter bullies playing much better freshman, red shirt freshman.
• 1:11:48
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that they at least keep this close.
• 1:11:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I would not totally be shocked if they win outright but can tuck he's certainly within a touchdown of Vanderbilt.
• 1:11:58
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's a good one.
• 1:11:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll say it may turn out to be a terrible one, but the fact I'm endorsing that should really give you the hippie jibbies.
• 1:12:07
  [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
• 1:12:07
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's just what I need.
• 1:12:10
[SPEAKER_01]: very last week we're not going to do a news of the weird thing because we open with the news of the weird bill bell a check at a adult co-ed cheerleading competition but i do have a question very a brief question for the love of god we've gone on long enough is you must the worst team ever they are winless they are hopeless it is just brutal i feel bad for the minute men although they did have a few fans a few
• 1:12:37
[SPEAKER_01]: College males doing what college males do these days, which is to show up at a game and take their shirts off and wave their shirts over their head and their last home game, which they lost 45 to 3 to Northern Illinois.
• 1:12:48
[SPEAKER_01]: They lost Ohio this last week, 42 to 14, Ohio completed three passes and scored 42 points.
• 1:12:54
[SPEAKER_01]: They closed against a bowling green, but not this week, but I just are they the worst team you've ever seen, anybody.
• 1:13:01
[SPEAKER_02]: But they've lost a Bryant, which is an FCS program, which is currently three and eight.
• 1:13:07
[SPEAKER_02]: No, they are not the worst program in college football history.
• 1:13:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me just remind you of Comerling College, with 222 to zero loss to Georgia Tech back in 1916.
• 1:13:19
[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe you'd be in a big eight guy.
• 1:13:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Remember the KU, Kansas State Days, in the 80s, the total zero, so no, you may ask isn't quite there yet.
• 1:13:30
[SPEAKER_00]: But they're up there, especially for the Mac this year, which is not the typical Mac where there's a couple of good teams and, you know, they're fighting it out.
• 1:13:38
[SPEAKER_00]: This is this is a down year for the Mac and, you know, the funny thing about UMass, too, is like they're actually relative to some of their conference peers that kind of went out in the portal and spent a little bit of money, but the returns on that has, have not been great in.
• 1:13:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: you think.
• 1:13:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean it's that you know they're first year you thought all the excitement they're moving to a league they were out the wilderness of football independence and then they move into the Mac and man they have just gotten it handed to them and so we'll see what happens in the in the future but it has been rough there for you master sure.
• 1:14:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah oh and twelve next week bowling green at home in the last game just put it into it better luck next year minimum and better luck to the listeners next week will try to be better
