- Lucas: Hey everyone. Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I’m Lucas. Luna: And I’m Luna. It’s great to be here again. We have been doing so much work lately. Lucas: We really have. Last time we looked at showing things and finding things. Now let’s look outside. Luna: Oh right. The weather. It is always a good topic. Especially here in Norway. Lucas: It is. And it changes very fast. So today we will learn four simple phrases about the weather. Luna: I love learning about weather. It helps me plan my day. Let’s start with the most common one. Lucas: Yes. The first phrase is 'det regner'. This means 'it is raining'. Luna: 'Det regner'. Okay. Let me try that. Lucas: Go ahead. Luna: Det regner. Lucas: Perfect. Exactly. 'Det regner'. Just repeat it once more to lock it in. Luna: Det regner. Lucas: Great. You say it clearly. So if you look out the window and see water falling, you say 'det regner'. Luna: That is easy. I use that all the time when I am stuck inside. Lucas: Exactly. Now, the second phrase. This one is very important too. It is 'det blåser'. Luna: 'Det blåser'. Does this mean it is windy? Lucas: Yes. 'Det blåser' means 'it is blowing' or 'it is windy'. In Norwegian, the verb 'blåse' comes from 'blås', which relates to breath or air moving. Luna: Ah, okay. That makes sense. Let me try. Lucas: Try it. Luna: Det blåser. Lucas: Very good. There you go. One more time for practice. Luna: Det blåser. Lucas: Excellent. So now we have rain and wind. What happens when you can barely see anything? Luna: Oh, that is my third phrase. 'Det er tåke'. Lucas: Yes. 'Det er tåke' means 'there is fog'. 'Tåke' is the noun for fog. Luna: Let me say it slowly. Det er tåke. Lucas: Spot on. Keep it up. Again. Luna: Det er tåke. Lucas: Perfect. Foggy mornings are common. You might need your headlights. But sometimes, the weather improves. Luna: Right. And my last phrase is about that improvement. 'Skyene lettner'. Lucas: Yes. 'Skyene lettner' means 'the clouds are lifting' or 'the sky is clearing up'. Luna: That is such a nice image. The clouds getting lighter. Let me try. Lucas: Go for it. Luna: Skyene lettner. Lucas: Good job. Pronunciation is clear. Say it one more time. Luna: Skyene lettner. Lucas: Wonderful. So we have four phrases: 'det regner', 'det blåser', 'det er tåke', and 'skyene lettner'. Luna: Those cover almost everything. Rain, wind, fog, and clearing skies. Lucas: They do. And remember, these are complete thoughts. You don’t need extra words. Luna: Yeah. I just point outside and say one of them. Lucas: Exactly. Before we continue with a quick story, I want to mention something important. Luna: What is it? I would say 'det regner' quickly. Lucas: Right. Then the wind picks up. You hold onto your coat. Luna: I would add 'det blåser'. So, 'det regner og det blåser'. Lucas: Perfect combination. Then suddenly, you cannot see the street lights. Luna: Ah. 'Det er tåke'. That is scary but beautiful sometimes. Lucas: It can be. But then, after ten minutes, you see the sun peeking through. Luna: Yes! 'Skyene lettner'. Everything looks brighter. Lucas: Exactly. These phrases help you describe the whole scene. Not just the rain, but the feeling. Luna: I feel more confident saying them now. They are short and strong. Lucas: They are. Let’s review them one last time together. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: It is raining. Luna: Det regner. Lucas: It is windy. Luna: Det blåser. Lucas: There is fog. Luna: Det er tåke. Lucas: The clouds are lifting. Luna: Skyene lettner. Lucas: Fantastic work today. You practiced each phrase multiple times. Luna: I did. And I felt them stick in my memory. Lucas: That is the goal. Repetition builds confidence. Try using them tomorrow morning. Luna: I will. I’ll look out the window and tell myself what is happening. Lucas: That is exactly what you should do. Small steps lead to big progress. Luna: See you next time, everyone. Keep practicing. Lucas: Bye for now. See you next time.
