- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi. Adam here and this is a
- 0:42relationship based hypnosis session designed to help you
- 0:47end. People.
- 0:48Pleasing and some people find themselves in a relationship
- 0:52where they put the needs of their partner way above their
- 0:55own needs. And that's fine if it's about
- 0:58the same level. But if it's a relationship where
- 1:01it's great for them and not great for you, that's probably
- 1:04not a wonderful relationship to stay in.
- 1:07And this isn't a hypnosis session to encourage you to end
- 1:10a relationship. It's a hypnosis session to
- 1:13encourage you to have the kind of boundaries that make you have
- 1:18a relationship that you want to stay in.
- 1:20And it uses a metaphor of a river to represent two different
- 1:25timelines. And only the status quo is off
- 1:29the table. And status quo just means, as
- 1:32things are, to continue in the current level.
- 1:35Because I was working with a client, but because of their
- 1:38upbringing, their different cultural background, they saw a
- 1:43father that was more than happy to put his own needs first, but
- 1:48his that his, his wife and the mother of the client was always
- 1:52kind of playing second fiddle. So they had that background and
- 1:56at some level that became a role model, a pattern that they
- 1:59followed. They just knew that they didn't
- 2:01want that, so it led to a lot of neediness and people pleasing
- 2:06and compromising on standards, going out of their way for their
- 2:10partner but not even tolerating the the bread crumbs for
- 2:15themself. So the two timelines represent
- 2:18one of two futures, either a future where there is healthy
- 2:23boundaries, a lot of mutual respect, a lot of love and
- 2:27connection that is conducive to a great relationship, or.
- 2:31They see themselves. With those qualities of
- 2:33confidence and an element of high standards and personal
- 2:38validation without even needing a relationship.
- 2:42It's just this kind of accepting the bread crumbs in a
- 2:45relationship that is off the table.
- 2:47So if you can relate or resonate to that idea, if you feel that
- 2:52it's uneven in terms of the relationship dynamics, you might
- 2:56get some value from this hypnosis session.
- 2:59But please be aware, it was entirely calibrated to the
- 3:02client that I was working with. Therefore, some of their issues
- 3:06might not be your issues. Some of their relationship
- 3:08dynamics might not be your relationship dynamics.
- 3:10So just hone into anything that feels useful.
- 3:14And the key essence of this is having mutual respect to stop
- 3:18people pleasing. And that doesn't mean ultimatums
- 3:21and rudeness with your partner, but just shifting the energy
- 3:24dynamic so that it's a win for both parties rather than a win
- 3:28lose situation. So if you can connect to that,
- 3:31you'll get some value. And if you do want something
- 3:33entirely calibrated and customized bespoke for you,
- 3:38there will be a link in the description.
- 3:39Or you can visit my website, adamcox.co.uk.
- 3:42You can book a free consultation call with me.
- 3:44It's completely free, about half an hour, we'll chat and who
- 3:47knows, we may end up working together.
- 3:49For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place, the kind of
- 3:53place where you're not going to get distracted or intruded upon.
- 3:57Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in and as you
- 4:25breathe in, breathe in that feeling of calm relaxation and
- 4:33as you exhale feel a sense of release as if tension, stress or
- 4:46worries are leaving your body in that outward breath.
- 4:54And on the next inward breath, aim to breathe in deeper and
- 5:05slower, activating that diaphragm, but breathing in a
- 5:12feeling of resourcefulness and self belief.
- 5:18And as you exhale, really feel the release of any insecurities.
- 5:30That's it. Just allow them to leave your
- 5:32body almost like shadows leaving your outward breath, breathing
- 5:42and resourcefulness and exhaling any doubts and limitations.
- 5:51That's it. Eyelids feeling heavier, jaw
- 5:57feeling looser. Give yourself permission in this
- 6:02time to really relax, to let go now.
- 6:11It'd be nothing to do, just allowing old beliefs that no
- 6:18longer serve you to dislodge to refine and update.
- 6:27That's it. Beliefs naturally change.
- 6:36There may have been a time that you believed in tooth fairies
- 6:43and that excitement was real even if the belief wasn't.
- 6:51And I wonder what real emotions you feel now based on beliefs
- 6:58that aren't even true. But the deeper you breathe, the
- 7:09more relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel,
- 7:16the deeper you breathe. And as your body relaxes, your
- 7:26imagination awakens. And I want you to imagine that
- 7:33your physical body stays where it is, but your imagination is
- 7:41going on a run. I want you to think of a river
- 7:48on a sunny day with blue skies. And we need to imagine what it
- 7:57would feel like to be filled with energy, vitality, and
- 8:06running by the river. Maybe seeing the sun reflect on
- 8:14the surface of the river. Maybe you find that pace, that
- 8:19rhythm, and allow the rhythm of the run to start synchronizing
- 8:30with the rhythm of your heartbeat and the rhythm of your
- 8:34breath. And I know sometimes you've been
- 8:39running and the running seems to happen all by itself and you can
- 8:47get lost in your imagination because your body knows how to
- 8:52run. So allow yourself to get back to
- 8:57that state where you don't even need to think about running and
- 9:04your mind can take you on a wonderful journey of change.
- 9:19For a while now, you've given yourself a role.
- 9:28A role with what you should do, must do, or expected to do based
- 9:36on narratives, observations, childhood experiences.
- 9:46But what if you're running a script that isn't yours?
- 9:52I want you to get a feeling then, if knowing what you now
- 9:56know, you wouldn't accept things as they are, that it means now
- 10:06is the time to make new evaluations, build new
- 10:12boundaries, and communicate needs that you need, but maybe
- 10:23other people don't know that you need them.
- 10:29As you find that rhythm in the run, notice your breathing gets
- 10:37even deeper. perhaps darks or Swans.
- 11:14There were different animals that seem to be in couples there
- 11:19on the water. And as you stare at the animals,
- 11:26I want you to imagine that your unconscious reveals a part of
- 11:33your life where it feels that you've been giving more than you
- 11:39receive. Perhaps the part where you place
- 11:45your partner's needs above your own, the part where anxiety
- 11:52fills the gaps and they're not around, sends your mind on a
- 11:59journey of what if. And with a gentle curiosity you
- 12:12to imagine seeing that dynamic in two Swans. 1 swan being
- 12:20generous and the other swan being accepting of that
- 12:26generosity but not necessarily reciprocating in the same way.
- 12:36And as you start to see the exact dynamic in your
- 12:39relationship in those two Swans, I want you to feel that detached
- 12:47level of observation through the lens of curiosity.
- 12:56And I want you to get a feeling that as you see that pattern, it
- 13:03dawns on you. This is not a floor in you, not
- 13:09a weakness, just a strategy learned a long time ago.
- 13:17And maybe it was a strategy born from love, but perhaps also from
- 13:25fear. A powerful fear is the fear of
- 13:30loss, fear of rejection, fear of not being enough.
- 13:43And maybe that swan is asking, who am I without them?
- 13:50But as you look at that old pattern, I want you to
- 13:57communicate with it. Thank you for trying to protect
- 14:03me, but I don't need this kind of protection anymore.
- 14:12And the pattern begins to dissolve, unravelling strand by
- 14:17strand like a knot, gently loosening until there is no
- 14:24pressure left. Keep observing the Swans as it
- 14:32seems like a new dynamic is establishing.
- 14:38And then imagine in a hologram over the river that seems to
- 14:45show the relationship of your parents like an echo of the
- 14:50past. Not in detail and not
- 14:55emotionally charged, but just a representation.
- 15:05And you recognize that you've learned some things from them,
- 15:12but no longer align with who you are and what you value.
- 15:20And maybe old beliefs about love, old assumptions about
- 15:26connection, perhaps even old fears disguised as loyalty.
- 15:35Imagine gathering all of those beliefs from the hologram of the
- 15:42past, and just imagine seeing them dissipate to tiny
- 15:52molecules, grains of sand that just fall into the water and get
- 16:01washed away by the current. Those ideas have served their
- 16:06time, and maybe they weren't useful in the way you want them
- 16:14to be. Now imagine they're completely
- 16:21diluted and dissolved into the water and fearless sense of
- 16:27release. You don't need to live their
- 16:33story or even a reaction to it. You are free to write your own.
- 16:47I wonder if you can imagine the space around you expanding.
- 16:52Any feelings of contraction or limitation is now morphing into
- 16:58a sense of freedom, breathing room, mental space.
- 17:07And what if the anxiety that used to fill this space begins
- 17:12to evaporate, revealing a deeper truth?
- 17:23If your partner is not around, that is not a threat.
- 17:29You're worth is not diminished by distance and your value
- 17:36exists whether they are near or far with no need to chase
- 17:43reassurance, no need to lose yourself in worries and what
- 17:51ifs, no need to build meaning out of silence or gaps.
- 18:00Just connect with a sense of expansion and freedom and full
- 18:07acceptance. You can accept that things are
- 18:12the way they are and also accept that certain things no longer
- 18:19meet your needs and your mind becomes peaceful, your chest
- 18:28becomes lighter and your emotional world becomes your own
- 18:33again. I want you to imagine standing
- 18:40up and looking down into the river and seeing a reflection
- 18:49and as you stare at yourself, see a new level of empowerment,
- 18:55confidence. See your version of you that is
- 19:01immune to the fear of loss. Sometimes people hold onto
- 19:12things that they want it to be, even if it hasn't been that way.
- 19:20Rather than fearing a loss, I want you to make a confident
- 19:28affirmation as you look at yourself in that reflection.
- 19:36If it isn't as I want it, then I don't want it.
- 19:43And how can you fear losing something you don't want?
- 19:51And then it becomes the goal to make it.
- 20:00As you would want it. I want you to stare at the Swans
- 20:06and see that something's different.
- 20:12A dynamic of imbalance now seems different.
- 20:18A dynamic of mutual respect, consideration, reciprocity.
- 20:27And as you stare at the Swans, I want you to feel that that is
- 20:32what you deserve. a feeling that boundaries aren't there to
- 20:45control. Boundaries are there to protect
- 20:51and respect. You respect the boundaries of
- 20:56your partner and they respect yours.
- 21:04And by respecting the boundaries, you lay the
- 21:08foundation where more needs and wants can be met.
- 21:18I want you to imagine sitting back down on the bench, looking
- 21:22at the river going in two different directions.
- 21:28The river now represents two different futures to the left.
- 21:38I want you to imagine a future where, just like this one is,
- 21:44your relationship shows you living with clear boundaries,
- 21:52articulating your wants and needs with a new dynamic, a new
- 21:58lease of life, the kind of relationship that you would want
- 22:05to stay in forever, And then look in the other
- 22:23direction of the river also showing a desirable future, a
- 22:32confident version of you. A confident version of you that
- 22:38was willing to walk away from a relationship that wasn't able to
- 22:44meet their needs. You're not sad.
- 22:51You're empowered, confident with absolute clarity as to what it
- 22:58is you're willing to accept and not accept.
- 23:05And I want you to get a feeling that both futures are desirable.
- 23:13There's almost a part of you that doesn't mind which of those
- 23:18becomes real. The only thing you're not
- 23:23willing to accept is the crumbs. A relationship of feeling second
- 23:34best, feeling like an afterthought if your unconscious
- 23:43feels empowered to no longer accept that which is below your
- 23:52needs, and to only accept a future of value, love,
- 24:03consideration, and respect in whichever form that it finds its
- 24:11way to you, not your head. And allow all of those changes
- 24:17to ripple down from the top of your head down to the tips of
- 24:21your toes. That's it.
- 24:24And I want you to imagine that to change the status quo to
- 24:34something else requires conversations.
- 24:44My question is about the needs of someone else that facilitates
- 24:50that reciprocity to communicate your own needs and incompetent
- 24:58to explore hypothetical scenarios that establishes new
- 25:04boundaries based on agreement. but you can allow yourself to
- 25:31change. Change your standards, your
- 25:35beliefs, and those things that you will or will not tolerate.
- 25:43I want you to imagine leaving the bench and jocking back in
- 25:49that same direction that you came from.
- 25:54Feeling lighter, confident, more empowered.
- 25:59Like you're at the start of a brand new chapter in the story
- 26:05of your life and you're excited to see how it develops.
- 26:14Allow yourself to start to float back to the present, the here
- 26:19and the now. Take a deep breath in through
- 26:21your nose and out through your nose.
- 26:25Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes.
- 26:27Connect and calibrate into the here and the now.
- 26:31As I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 26:36You will awaken feeling empowered, confident, with a new
- 26:40sense of clarity, leaving those old beliefs and limitations.
- 26:47There is grains of sand in the river starting to count. 123
- 26:53Waking up 456 More alert 7-8 Open your eyes, open your eyes.
- 27:00910 Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
