- 1:40Speaker 1: coach of UNLV football, coach Barry Odom will be hon
- 1:43Speaker 1: as well. They're three and ohero and they're killing it.
- 1:46Speaker 1: So I'm glad everybody's here. Justice for Bryce Young, Justice
- 1:49Speaker 1: for Bryce Young.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Why why did you see the.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Stat about Howard Baker and Sam Donald both left the Panthers.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They got good.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Oh the Panthers suck. Okay, there's a trend.
- 2:00Speaker 1: The Panthers just suck. And it's not like the guy
- 2:02Speaker 1: got bad all of a sudden, like.
- 2:04Speaker 5: They're all different coaches. It's just the organization can mess
- 2:07Speaker 5: it up.
- 2:07Speaker 1: That bad organizations usually stay bad regardless of who the
- 2:12Speaker 1: coaches are, right, Like the head of the snake is
- 2:14Speaker 1: the owner who then hires look at the Cowboy.
- 2:18Speaker 5: I know, I know you're gonna say that, because that's
- 2:20Speaker 5: what everyone's told me. Like as soon as since Jerry
- 2:22Speaker 5: Jones gonna be the owner, they're never gonna win a
- 2:23Speaker 5: Super Bowl.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I don't know why you took that so personally.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'm just saying because I hear that all the time.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You can even look at successful franchises and there's a
- 2:30Speaker 1: reason why they stay successful, the same reason the franchises don't.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Look at the Chiefs, they were never really that bad.
- 2:37Speaker 1: They just haven't been that bad, even before Mahomes, even
- 2:40Speaker 1: when they had Alex Smith, Even in their years where
- 2:41Speaker 1: they weren't that good, they rarely had bad years. You
- 2:44Speaker 1: can go to switch sports, go to basketball. Since the
- 2:49Speaker 1: Golden State Warriors have changed on, I mean, they're always
- 2:52Speaker 1: pretty good. They do a good job in the draft,
- 2:54Speaker 1: they do a good job developing. Look at the Knicks,
- 2:56Speaker 1: they suck and they've remained sucky. James Dolland's a sucky owner.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Look at the Redskins turned football club turn commanders.
- 3:03Speaker 2: They sucked.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So yes, justice for justice. They didn't even give him
- 3:08Speaker 1: a chance. I watched mel Kiper do this whole rant on.
- 3:12Speaker 6: How c. J.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Strout played two whole preseason games mostly and how somebody
- 3:17Speaker 1: else and Bryce Young played one drive at the end
- 3:20Speaker 1: of the very last game against Scrubs, and how they've
- 3:23Speaker 1: switched coaches and how they come. Justice for Bryce Young.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He didn't get bad all of a sudden, So yeah, smaller,
- 3:29Speaker 1: do you.
- 3:29Speaker 7: Think that's a coach decision?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Or Pepper, who knows the temper could put it in
- 3:33Speaker 1: a roulette will and been like, well to sleep with them.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So Bryce Young, this will probably great for him. Hopefully
- 3:39Speaker 1: he gets out of there. Yeah, hopefully you can get
- 3:42Speaker 1: out of there. It'd be hilarious. If we have traded
- 3:44Speaker 1: to Miami, that'd be awesome. He goes, he starts with
- 3:45Speaker 1: the Dolphins, but he may not start for a year two,
- 3:48Speaker 1: but he's twenty two years old. He's getting run.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Justice for Bryce.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I'm just not gonna be on the whole. Bryce Young sucks.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I do not think he sucks. It sucks for him
- 3:57Speaker 1: right now. He has no confidence. Yeah, yeah, that's all
- 4:00Speaker 1: I just wanted to say. Y justice for Bryce.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Yo.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Okay, you know a lot of things that were not
- 4:03Speaker 1: going right, and that is the biggest in the whole
- 4:05Speaker 1: world out.
- 4:06Speaker 8: Of all number one Baker and Sam since they left
- 4:09Speaker 8: forty six touchdowns for interceptions.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Look at Baker like he leaves there, goes to the
- 4:15Speaker 1: Rams for like that one game crushes It's the contract.
- 4:18Speaker 7: I forgot about the money net football comes in like
- 4:20Speaker 7: a day.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you get out, you get out of Browns
- 4:25Speaker 1: are before that because he got drafted by the Browns.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but the Browns notoriously a crappy organization. Yeah
- 4:33Speaker 1: for a long period of time. Yeah, Like you rarely
- 4:35Speaker 1: see organizations that are really great for ten years and
- 4:38Speaker 1: then piss poor for ten to twelve years. Usually there's
- 4:41Speaker 1: a couple of years because eventually contracts catch up or uh,
- 4:44Speaker 1: you know, you can't pay for all your players. You
- 4:46Speaker 1: got to kind of start over and rebuild. But rarely
- 4:48Speaker 1: are team's really great, Like the Patriots will eventually bounce back.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It may take them a couple of years to do so,
- 4:55Speaker 1: but they have good leadership. Yeah, anyway, Bryce sounds awesome.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Glad everybody's here.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Let's go over and do the tittle tattle.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Here you go.
- 5:03Speaker 1: His name ever, the tittle tattle's.
- 5:10Speaker 8: Just talking about it Bryce Young being benched Panthers. Back
- 5:12Speaker 8: to square one. Where do you rank David Tepper in
- 5:15Speaker 8: the ranks of worst owners in sports?
- 5:17Speaker 1: Well, well, I wouldn't rate him the worst because they're
- 5:20Speaker 1: in a small market. We don't talk about small small
- 5:22Speaker 1: markets as much, so yeah, it seems like a pretty
- 5:25Speaker 1: sucky owner. But I mean it's the guys like the
- 5:27Speaker 1: Dolans in New York, because when the Knicks can't be good,
- 5:31Speaker 1: you're like, why can New York not be good? And
- 5:34Speaker 1: not just not good? A couple years here? A couple years,
- 5:36Speaker 1: they're like, they haven't been good. They were finally pretty
- 5:38Speaker 1: good this year. Yeah, for the first time. So what
- 5:42Speaker 1: do you think New York Casey is Dolan a sucky owner?
- 5:44Speaker 9: Yeah, he's a pretty pretty sucky owner. I will say,
- 5:47Speaker 9: to give him some credit, the Rangers are pretty good
- 5:49Speaker 9: and that's the hockey team in MSG, So he does
- 5:53Speaker 9: half his job.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Correct, He's a sucky basketball in it.
- 5:56Speaker 2: He's a sucky basketball good.
- 5:57Speaker 10: They haven't been, yeah, I mean except for last year.
- 6:00Speaker 10: So I mean, we'll see what happens.
- 6:01Speaker 9: We picked up a bunch of new players, so maybe
- 6:04Speaker 9: this is the start of something new. Leon Rose, maybe
- 6:06Speaker 9: he's said, you know what, let me just let me
- 6:08Speaker 9: just handle.
- 6:08Speaker 10: This right now.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Dan Gilbert comes to mind. He did win championships, but
- 6:11Speaker 1: he screwed up the Lebron thing, and then Lebron happened
- 6:13Speaker 1: to come.
- 6:13Speaker 7: I mean he got lucky.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I feel like he got very he got very lucky,
- 6:17Speaker 1: got the first pick. Yeah, so Dan Gilbert is terrible.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I mentioned the Redskins a minute ago and then the
- 6:23Speaker 1: command luckily that he sold the team. He's terrible?
- 6:27Speaker 10: Is Tepper the new Snyder?
- 6:28Speaker 1: And I just felt like Dan Snyder, Yes, except without
- 6:32Speaker 1: all like the sexual allegations, racists, all the allegation.
- 6:38Speaker 6: That's fair.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Just felt like a bad owner. Yeah, but again he's
- 6:43Speaker 1: in a small market, so we don't talk about it
- 6:45Speaker 1: as much because the Panthers, they don't have the expectation
- 6:48Speaker 1: of being great.
- 6:49Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So uh yeah, it sucks for Bryce Young. Justice for
- 6:53Speaker 1: Bryce Young. I'm gonna put Dolan and Dan Gilbert though,
- 6:56Speaker 1: as my leaders.
- 6:57Speaker 7: Okay, yeah, all right, what else?
- 6:58Speaker 6: All?
- 6:58Speaker 3: Right?
- 6:58Speaker 7: Which ranked matchup? Are you looking forward to the most
- 7:00Speaker 7: this weekend?
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know, the Illinois Nebraska games fun because Illinois won.
- 7:05Speaker 1: They had a big win last week, right, and they
- 7:07Speaker 1: beat Kansas a week before that? Who they played last week?
- 7:10Speaker 4: Or?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Am I mixing up to Kansas?
- 7:12Speaker 7: This was two weeks ago.
- 7:12Speaker 4: That was a big win.
- 7:13Speaker 7: But I do I'm not sure they played.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Last week Nebraska. You know their quarterback is just doing costplay,
- 7:18Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes. He does everything just like Patrick Hohmes. And
- 7:22Speaker 1: are they good? Right? I mean that's that that that
- 7:24Speaker 1: game will be fun?
- 7:26Speaker 4: Uh?
- 7:26Speaker 1: The USC Michigan game. But is Michigan's not? I don't.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I don't think Michigan's any good. But they both have
- 7:31Speaker 1: numbers beside them.
- 7:33Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean USC's favored at Michigan, so Michigan's dogged.
- 7:39Speaker 7: Again.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Michigan's the top twenty team, so Vegas doesn't care about
- 7:43Speaker 1: the number beside their name.
- 7:43Speaker 7: Yeah, and I'm still surprised.
- 7:45Speaker 8: I mean, I guess they lost to a really good
- 7:47Speaker 8: Texas team, but still it's like they look they don't
- 7:49Speaker 8: look very good.
- 7:49Speaker 2: In the end.
- 7:50Speaker 1: This was an easy answer for me, but I tried
- 7:52Speaker 1: not to put it first because of personal reason. But
- 7:54Speaker 1: the Oklahoma Tennessee game is going to be the game
- 7:57Speaker 1: of the week at least, maybe not close score like
- 8:00Speaker 1: the but the game most people pay attention to because,
- 8:02Speaker 1: first of all, it's Oklahoma's first SEC game. It's Josh
- 8:04Speaker 1: Hipel who won a national championship as the Oklahoma quarterback
- 8:08Speaker 1: coaching Tennessee. It's Josh Hipel who is also the offensive
- 8:11Speaker 1: coordinator Oklahoma and got fired going back to Tennessee. So
- 8:18Speaker 1: or to Oklahoma, excuse me, so that that's gonna be
- 8:20Speaker 1: a fun game for many reasons. First, Oklahoma as a sea game,
- 8:22Speaker 1: the old the old champion, coming back coaching against his
- 8:25Speaker 1: former team, all of that. So that to me is
- 8:29Speaker 1: the game I'm looking forward to the most. And I
- 8:32Speaker 1: don't know who I'm rooting for.
- 8:34Speaker 7: Go Balls.
- 8:35Speaker 2: What do you mean you have family?
- 8:37Speaker 1: I don't think I'm rooting because I mean, I like.
- 8:40Speaker 5: But you're not a Balls fan, right, and then your
- 8:43Speaker 5: wife is a huge Ou fan.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But here's the thing. And I like Oklahoma. No, no,
- 8:49Speaker 1: I don't dislike Oklahoma, which is almost like I like,
- 8:52Speaker 1: but I really only like two teams. Team one which
- 8:56Speaker 1: I love is Arkansas and Team two, one of the
- 8:58Speaker 1: teams that's allowed us to come to their facilities, and
- 9:00Speaker 1: it didn't matter which one it is, but I just
- 9:02Speaker 1: like I.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Like them, Oh, either one, any any one of those
- 9:04Speaker 5: like I like my root for them because we've.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Personally gotten to spend time with him ever and we
- 9:09Speaker 1: feel like, oh they're actual humans. We so like. I
- 9:11Speaker 1: love Arkansas, I like any of the teams we spent
- 9:13Speaker 1: time with going up to too much access.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so we have not been to Tennessee.
- 9:18Speaker 1: No, no, no, But I'm saying I don't know that
- 9:20Speaker 1: I have a rooting interest because one, I don't want
- 9:24Speaker 1: Oklahoma coming into the SEC going oh wow, this was
- 9:26Speaker 1: much easier than we thought because I don't have to
- 9:28Speaker 1: deal with that part of my family.
- 9:29Speaker 2: But it's saying that is Texas saying that, but Texas.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Is really good where Oklahoma's kind of borderline good. But
- 9:37Speaker 1: Tennessee is so obnoxious. I think I'm rooting for Oklahoma
- 9:40Speaker 1: talking it out here, like what hurts worse living in
- 9:43Speaker 1: Tennessee where people won't shut up about being everywhere with
- 9:46Speaker 1: all the all we wanted it all this year, just
- 9:47Speaker 1: all over everywhere Oklahoma. My family being like, well, I
- 9:50Speaker 1: told you. This is that's a I'm being pulled. I'm
- 9:55Speaker 1: stretch armstrong being pulled both in directions. Yeah, I'm gonna go.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I guess I'm pulled for Oklahoma or a tie, A
- 10:03Speaker 1: zero zero tie, scoreless and they have to call the game.
- 10:06Speaker 2: All right, we're done, guys, We've got five overtimes. We're done.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the game I look for to the most.
- 10:11Speaker 1: All right, next up?
- 10:12Speaker 8: All right, which week two injury? Do you think we'll
- 10:14Speaker 8: have the biggest impact on their team? Cooper Cup, Isaiah Pacheco,
- 10:18Speaker 8: A J. Brown, and then even Deebo Samuel.
- 10:20Speaker 1: What's interesting about Cooper Cup is I think by itself,
- 10:23Speaker 1: Cooper Cup, that would suck. But now you have Pookah
- 10:26Speaker 1: and Cooper both out to no. I got a text
- 10:28Speaker 1: earlier ask if iul play a littleide receiver this week?
- 10:32Speaker 1: So I think that that with that, that's that's tough.
- 10:35Speaker 1: He's on I r uh checko. And they went and
- 10:38Speaker 1: got a couple a couple of the who do they pick?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah, they started.
- 10:45Speaker 4: A J.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Brown is not on the I R though, right, Hampshi.
- 10:49Speaker 1: They're not putting them on max four week or minimum
- 10:51Speaker 1: four weeks.
- 10:53Speaker 2: And then you said Debo as a fourth Yeah, sucks.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Deebo sucks because McCaffrey is also out. Yeah, I think
- 11:03Speaker 1: it's probably gonna be a j Brown that is affecting
- 11:05Speaker 1: their team. That the Rams are just in trouble, are
- 11:09Speaker 1: just in trouble. But agent but the Eagles, although, I mean,
- 11:13Speaker 1: that's a bad loss last week. Okay, maybe they should
- 11:16Speaker 1: have thrown it, should have caught it.
- 11:19Speaker 2: That's tough.
- 11:21Speaker 1: It's there's just multiple injuries here that affected the team
- 11:25Speaker 1: in big ways, like the Cooper Cup injury and the
- 11:28Speaker 1: Pooka injury. That's debilitating to a team trying to throw
- 11:30Speaker 1: the wall. But also, I'm gonna take the check off
- 11:34Speaker 1: the list here. He's fine to watch. He's at good
- 11:38Speaker 1: good year last year, runs violently, he gives them. But
- 11:41Speaker 1: I'm gona take them off the list.
- 11:42Speaker 7: Because it's the Chiefs.
- 11:43Speaker 2: They'll figure it out. Where the Eagle.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I think the Eagles will figure it out too. But
- 11:46Speaker 1: that was not a good loss.
- 11:49Speaker 2: You can kind of see it in the last game,
- 11:51Speaker 2: and I.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Think it's Deebo. I think I'm gonna have to go
- 11:53Speaker 1: to Deebo because Deebo and McCaffrey like their two biggest weapons.
- 11:57Speaker 1: That's one and two. I'm sure Brandon and I, but
- 12:00Speaker 1: he's never really had to be the wide receiver one
- 12:02Speaker 1: because they have all these other weapons that allow him
- 12:03Speaker 1: to not be bracketed constantly. So I'm gonna go Debo
- 12:08Speaker 1: as the late entry and the winner there.
- 12:11Speaker 7: He's kind of a quiet guy that gets hurt a lot.
- 12:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he's also nobody really talks about. But he runs violently.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I mean he does. He gets hurt because he's just
- 12:19Speaker 1: in a lot of plays. He just gets hit a lot.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Because him and I are built the same.
- 12:24Speaker 7: I can see it. He reminds me when he runs.
- 12:27Speaker 7: I think of you, thank you, thank you.
- 12:28Speaker 8: All right, next up, last one with to his future
- 12:30Speaker 8: still in question. Do you think the Dolphins should go
- 12:32Speaker 8: out and trade or pick someone up.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I think it's probably easier said than done.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I mean they have that.
- 12:38Speaker 10: I saw they picked up Huntley.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Huntley. Yeah, we would know because every time Lamar
- 12:44Speaker 1: got hurt, Huntley would play pretty well and he kind
- 12:47Speaker 1: of looks like, yeah he runs, so the hunt and
- 12:50Speaker 1: I don't even know if they plan on Huntley to
- 12:52Speaker 1: play or Scalar if Scaler Thompson again, the.
- 12:55Speaker 7: Last I've heard it Skyler start.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Jamis has a fun idea, uh from Cleveland,
- 13:01Speaker 1: but I think Clevelan's got thrown issues where they won't
- 13:02Speaker 1: like go Jamie.
- 13:03Speaker 2: They showed a.
- 13:04Speaker 10: Little Tannehill reunion to oh Danny call him up.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know, yes, system, I don't know that
- 13:12Speaker 1: he does what they need that quarterback to do. But yeah, yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I think if they if they peel off a couple
- 13:19Speaker 1: l's in a row, they'll probably be looking at the
- 13:20Speaker 1: free agent market. What do you Garoppolo? I know, I
- 13:28Speaker 1: don't think there's an answer. I like. I like Huntley,
- 13:31Speaker 1: so I think they did the right thing. He's their
- 13:32Speaker 1: veteran quote quarterback they picked up. But they're like the
- 13:34Speaker 1: Dolphins planning to pick up a veteran quarterback and ended
- 13:37Speaker 1: up being I think could actually be serviceable. I mean,
- 13:39Speaker 1: he did well with the he made a pro ball
- 13:41Speaker 1: that one. Yeah, he did well with the Ravens, even
- 13:44Speaker 1: p J Walker, who were him.
- 13:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:46Speaker 8: I think he's out and not really doing anything right now,
- 13:48Speaker 8: but there's probably a reason.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Right now. The Starbucks.
- 13:54Speaker 1: All right, there you go, tittletottle, thank you name.
- 13:59Speaker 4: The town.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Okay, let's build our parley feel pretty good about this one.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Okay, come on.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Here's the thing though, I think Arkansas beats Auburn straight up,
- 14:14Speaker 1: and they're they're being given three and a half humongous points.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Now they have to go to Auburn. But I think
- 14:19Speaker 1: Arkansas beats Auurn straight up. I respect the healing, we'd
- 14:22Speaker 1: as good we'd do, and Auburn sucks. So we're going
- 14:29Speaker 1: to Arkansas plus three and a half. You don't, don't,
- 14:32Speaker 1: don't bet money line. Take Arkansas plus three and a half.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And I also think I would take money line Florida.
- 14:39Speaker 1: And then if Florida's given five and a half points
- 14:42Speaker 1: at Missisippi State, Missippi State is terrible, like Toledo spanked them.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I've been there though, with Toledo beating us the Arkansas
- 14:51Speaker 1: got that's terrible, terrible.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Ed.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Now we're there, I'm gonna go.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Screw it. Don't screw it. Do I screw it? Or
- 15:04Speaker 2: I don't screw it, screw screw it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I'm taking three money lines here, just to make it easy.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Uh Utah, arc No, I don't want to take the
- 15:12Speaker 1: ks on money line. Yeah, great, Utah, Arkansas, Florida. Let's

- 16:30Speaker 1: Oh I don't want to do it.
- 16:31Speaker 6: Four?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Okay, No, let's not do four.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Why would you want to do it?
- 16:35Speaker 5: For Sam Houston State man, they're on a heater right now, dude.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I know that last year loss ed. He kept going
- 16:39Speaker 1: sam Us saying I bet. Okay, thanks, all right. Here's
- 16:50Speaker 1: our chat with former NFL wide receiver Golden Tate. Golden
- 16:53Speaker 1: won the Blitnikoff at Notre Dame best wide receiver in
- 16:55Speaker 1: college football in two thousand and nine. He also won
- 16:58Speaker 1: Super Bowl forty eight with Seahawks. Played about every position
- 17:00Speaker 1: in high school. He grew up not too far from Nashville,
- 17:03Speaker 1: and we talked about he's a pun or two. He
- 17:05Speaker 1: did everything. You can follow him on social media at showtime. Tate.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Here he is Golden Tate.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I didn't know.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I was looking at notes like deep notes because I
- 17:16Speaker 1: knew I knew about your career as a like Detroit
- 17:20Speaker 1: is what I think of when I think about you.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Yeah, where do most people associate you with NFL?
- 17:24Speaker 11: Wise, if we're in the West Coast, probably Seattle because
- 17:28Speaker 11: more Seattle fans that out there. But if you're new
- 17:31Speaker 11: to football and kind of just now becoming your fan
- 17:34Speaker 11: rather fantasy football, people probably know me for Detroit?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Did you was your biggest deal with the Giants though?
- 17:42Speaker 1: Was that like your most significant you know, nontract?
- 17:46Speaker 6: No, you know what?
- 17:47Speaker 11: The Detroit contract and the Giants contract were roughly about
- 17:51Speaker 11: the same. Yeah, except for with Detroit I was signed
- 17:55Speaker 11: a five year deal. Giants was a four year deal,
- 17:58Speaker 11: but the money was pretty comfortable.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I didn't know when I went a deep dive, I
- 18:02Speaker 1: didn't know you play baseball, Notre Dame like to me,
- 18:04Speaker 1: blown away, like that's that's that's so like elite. But
- 18:09Speaker 1: how do you spend your time training? Because again, if
- 18:12Speaker 1: you want to be really great at something, even if
- 18:14Speaker 1: you're natural at it, meaning I'm pretty funny, but if
- 18:17Speaker 1: I'm going to get really good at whatever I'm doing,
- 18:19Speaker 1: like it takes time and effort and energy dedicated to it.
- 18:22Speaker 1: But you batted like two seven of your freshman year.
- 18:25Speaker 1: That's wild and Notre Dame while also playing football. How
- 18:28Speaker 1: did you how did you split your time?
- 18:30Speaker 6: You know, that's a good question.
- 18:32Speaker 11: God gifted me with a lot of athleticism, and I was.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Able to look yet mine by the way, and I
- 18:39Speaker 1: was able to, like add live a lot with sports.
- 18:42Speaker 11: Because I was just so gifted that I could go
- 18:46Speaker 11: out on the football field and probably go out the
- 18:48Speaker 11: night before and still succeed and have one hundred plus
- 18:50Speaker 11: shreds a touchdown as long as I got enough passes.
- 18:54Speaker 11: Same thing with baseball early on before they had the
- 18:56Speaker 11: Scott Report. But then they had the Scot Report and
- 18:58Speaker 11: they started throwing me breaking balls. And so I go
- 19:00Speaker 11: from like batten three seventy five to start the season
- 19:03Speaker 11: till then I would have like a strikeout of game
- 19:05Speaker 11: and maybe go over four like multiple times a week.
- 19:08Speaker 6: And then they kind of figured it out.
- 19:09Speaker 11: But that was kind of part of the deal coming
- 19:11Speaker 11: out of high school. So I was drafted out of
- 19:13Speaker 11: high school to the MLB by yeah, by Diamondbacks, and
- 19:18Speaker 11: then again during after during my rookie season by the Giants,
- 19:22Speaker 11: and yeah, they won the World Series and I was pissed.
- 19:24Speaker 6: I said, man, I should have been playing baseball.
- 19:26Speaker 11: Had me a World Series, Little did I know I'd be,
- 19:30Speaker 11: you know, be a super Bowl champion. But it takes
- 19:33Speaker 11: a lot of balance, and I've always taken a lot
- 19:34Speaker 11: of pride and just kind.
- 19:35Speaker 6: Of being everywhere.
- 19:38Speaker 11: I was able to balance my on the field life
- 19:41Speaker 11: with my off the field life, with also the academics
- 19:44Speaker 11: part of it, along with having a girlfriend. And I
- 19:47Speaker 11: just took a lot of pride and trying, you know,
- 19:50Speaker 11: managing that. And so when I got recruited, that was
- 19:53Speaker 11: kind of part of the deal, like, hey, if I'm
- 19:55Speaker 11: coming here, I'm playing baseball and football because I didn't
- 19:59Speaker 11: know what I wanted to do, like long term or
- 20:00Speaker 11: what I had a better chance of going pro at.
- 20:02Speaker 11: And Coach Wish is like, yeah, you know what, that's fine.
- 20:05Speaker 11: And so my first year didn't go as playing in
- 20:07Speaker 11: football nor baseball.
- 20:10Speaker 2: What do you mean in football didn't go playing did you?
- 20:11Speaker 6: I didn't come in and play right away.
- 20:13Speaker 11: So it was probably really important for me to be
- 20:15Speaker 11: in those off the off season meetings and Matt drills
- 20:19Speaker 11: and like these five thirty workouts, but I, you know,
- 20:23Speaker 11: stay with him play baseball. And then my second year
- 20:26Speaker 11: I break out onto the scene as a sophomore, and
- 20:30Speaker 11: I think I put up like over a thousand yards
- 20:32Speaker 11: a bunch of touchdowns, and then went over to the
- 20:35Speaker 11: baseball thing and had a much more successful sophomore season
- 20:38Speaker 11: in baseball. But it was awesome because going from NFL
- 20:42Speaker 11: football college football shape to baseball was a piece of.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Case, because you were in such great shape that it
- 20:49Speaker 1: wasn't oh my gosh.
- 20:50Speaker 11: I would go from my running like gassers and getting
- 20:53Speaker 11: crushed physically and.
- 20:55Speaker 6: Mentally to like, now I'm just going to hang out in.
- 20:57Speaker 11: The outfield while in the Midwest it's freaking twenty three
- 21:02Speaker 11: degrees with the windchill of whatever, and the boys are
- 21:06Speaker 11: just waking up at five thirty doing these hour and
- 21:09Speaker 11: a half matt drills, which absolutely crushed you.
- 21:11Speaker 6: And then you got me just in I'm in Texas.
- 21:15Speaker 12: Kicked up catching fly balls, looking at clovers on the ground,
- 21:21Speaker 12: this big chilling, going one for four, and I'm like,
- 21:24Speaker 12: that's all I need to fifty.
- 21:27Speaker 6: Whatever, and so it was a great It was awesome
- 21:29Speaker 6: for me.
- 21:31Speaker 11: And then I enter the NFL Draft after my third
- 21:33Speaker 11: season at Notre Dame and didn't even make it to
- 21:37Speaker 11: my third season at baseball.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Why did you choose Notre Dame? Was it very much?
- 21:41Speaker 1: Because you wanted to do both sports and they had
- 21:43Speaker 1: the ability to put you on a big stage with both.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Yeah, it came.
- 21:47Speaker 11: And this is the first mature decision I made probably
- 21:50Speaker 11: in my life, all right, because look, I got being
- 21:55Speaker 11: recruited by them. I went to poach on Paul, which
- 21:57Speaker 11: is in Hendersonville, probably thirty minutes north of here. And
- 22:01Speaker 11: when Charlie White shows up and recruits me, he at
- 22:04Speaker 11: this point he's got like three Super Bowl rings and
- 22:06Speaker 11: he's talking to me like this with them on showing up.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Well, if you want to win championship, this boy's like,
- 22:14Speaker 6: you want to win championships and you know where to
- 22:16Speaker 6: go and go pro?
- 22:18Speaker 8: You know?
- 22:18Speaker 6: I would consider not to day and I.
- 22:20Speaker 11: Was like what, But it came down to, all right,
- 22:26Speaker 11: if I have the opportunity to go pro in football,
- 22:29Speaker 11: we got a guy who's won world championships. Right, if
- 22:34Speaker 11: I graduate from here, I'll have probably a small step
- 22:38Speaker 11: up on a lot of people.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:41Speaker 11: And also I saw opportunity to come in and play
- 22:45Speaker 11: right away as a true freshman on the football field.
- 22:47Speaker 11: And then lastly they're willing to let me play baseball
- 22:50Speaker 11: and football because I didn't know what I wanted to
- 22:52Speaker 11: do in long term.
- 22:54Speaker 6: So between those four things, it's like, you know what
- 22:57Speaker 6: I want.
- 22:58Speaker 11: On one one trip my official visit, it was in
- 23:01Speaker 11: the middle of winter in South Bend, Indiana. They were
- 23:04Speaker 11: preparing to get smacked by LSU and like one of
- 23:08Speaker 11: the nice good bowls, and I was like, you know what,
- 23:12Speaker 11: that's right, I'm going Notre Dame.
- 23:14Speaker 2: And you went in the winter and still made the
- 23:16Speaker 2: decision to go to Notre Dame.
- 23:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I was tripping, Like, but you know what.
- 23:20Speaker 2: That winter there's just different.
- 23:22Speaker 6: It's awful.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Did you get used to it though? Living there? Because
- 23:27Speaker 2: it's like I wake up.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Early in the morning every like three thirty every morning
- 23:30Speaker 1: to do my radio show and people are like, you
- 23:32Speaker 1: must get I never get. I never get used to it,
- 23:34Speaker 1: Like it just sucks every day. I'm just better at
- 23:36Speaker 1: performing while it sucks. Is that what it's like when
- 23:39Speaker 1: it's just cold.
- 23:39Speaker 2: All the time?
- 23:40Speaker 11: Man, it makes it it's tough getting up to go
- 23:42Speaker 11: to class and our class or our campus is so
- 23:46Speaker 11: small that you can pretty much walk the entire thing
- 23:48Speaker 11: within probably forty five minutes, so you're not really driving
- 23:51Speaker 11: the class. And everybody had bikes those mornings or just
- 23:57Speaker 11: really all day in the winter. It's a struggle, but
- 24:00Speaker 11: you get used to it because there are some essentials
- 24:02Speaker 11: that non negotiable you have to have, and one of
- 24:05Speaker 11: those is chapstick. Bro Like you can put on three jackets,
- 24:10Speaker 11: four pairs of sweat, some ugg boots or some timblins,
- 24:12Speaker 11: some gloves, have a beanie with a little fur, but
- 24:16Speaker 11: you don't got that chapstick. Dog That win is ripping
- 24:20Speaker 11: them lips to pieces. And I learned that and that's
- 24:23Speaker 11: what I remember most about being cold, is like, man,
- 24:25Speaker 11: that wind, she'll hit you. It's like rip them lips apart.
- 24:27Speaker 11: And so as long as I have my chapstick, I
- 24:30Speaker 11: can do it everything else.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Any part of your or junior decision to get out
- 24:35Speaker 1: of Notre Dame because it's still cold, you want to
- 24:37Speaker 1: get drafted to a warmer weather city.
- 24:39Speaker 11: You know, No, that didn't even cross my mind. And
- 24:42Speaker 11: I honestly like being from the South, Like I didn't
- 24:44Speaker 11: even really miss it all that much. For me, I've
- 24:49Speaker 11: always if I'd rather be practicing in the cold than
- 24:53Speaker 11: practicing in like the ninety five degree heat with humanity,
- 24:56Speaker 11: because like I, as a runner, you get so tired
- 24:59Speaker 11: so quickly because the heat. Yeah, you just can't get
- 25:02Speaker 11: oxygen to your muscles fast enough. And then in the
- 25:05Speaker 11: cold you take them in the war them up. But
- 25:07Speaker 11: at least I can breathe. I can run forever. I
- 25:09Speaker 11: feel like it.
- 25:10Speaker 1: What was it like going from because in high school
- 25:12Speaker 1: you were the punter?
- 25:13Speaker 2: Are you the punter too?
- 25:14Speaker 6: You do everything?
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so you punted, you ran the ball, not punt,
- 25:20Speaker 2: and then go around there. I think you did all
- 25:22Speaker 2: the same.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I think like both sides at the same time, not
- 25:25Speaker 1: even really possible, but so you basically they just got
- 25:28Speaker 1: you the ball.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 11: I was listed as an athlete on Rivals. I don't
- 25:32Speaker 11: know if you guys have heard of that, but four
- 25:34Speaker 11: star athlete and man. Sports has always just been my getaway.
- 25:39Speaker 11: It didn't matter what was going on in life, what
- 25:42Speaker 11: I was dealing with at home or in school or
- 25:44Speaker 11: you know. Sports made me always feel like I was
- 25:46Speaker 11: good enough, and so I held onto that dearly and
- 25:50Speaker 11: really took a lot of pride and just being the
- 25:52Speaker 11: best I possibly could, And going to practice in high
- 25:55Speaker 11: school was never like I was going to practice like
- 25:58Speaker 11: all right, I'm going ahead to play play some football,
- 26:00Speaker 11: play some basketball, play some baseball, and I just had
- 26:02Speaker 11: a blast with it.
- 26:04Speaker 1: High school, I assume you felt extremely dominant, like man,
- 26:07Speaker 1: amongst boys, just because it looked like you're bigger, faster,
- 26:10Speaker 1: maybe not taller, but faster, stronger than everybody.
- 26:14Speaker 2: College.
- 26:15Speaker 1: As soon as you get on campus, do you feel
- 26:17Speaker 1: like I'm already as good as ease?
- 26:19Speaker 2: Like where does that?
- 26:20Speaker 1: Where did you fall athletically as an eighteen year old
- 26:23Speaker 1: with like twenty one to twenty two year olds, you.
- 26:25Speaker 11: Know, athletically, I've always sized people up and be like, yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 11: I'm the best athlete on this field. And maybe it's
- 26:33Speaker 11: a sickness in a way, but there's not too many
- 26:36Speaker 11: times I let anyone believe, or myself believe that anyone
- 26:40Speaker 11: was better than me and anything like.
- 26:42Speaker 1: You felt when you got to Notre Dame, you were
- 26:43Speaker 1: already as good of.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Athlete as anybody there a thousand cent and and that was.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Also my issue.
- 26:48Speaker 11: I was super duper athletic, like I have coaches to
- 26:52Speaker 11: this day, but man, you were one of the most
- 26:54Speaker 11: gifted athletes I've ever coached, like I could do just
- 26:58Speaker 11: about anything I felt like as a young man. But
- 27:02Speaker 11: the reason why I didn't play my rookie season in Seattle,
- 27:06Speaker 11: in my freshman season and it're in because I couldn't
- 27:10Speaker 11: get over the mental part of it. Like I was
- 27:12Speaker 11: just an athlete out there just running around and you throw.
- 27:15Speaker 4: The ball up.
- 27:16Speaker 6: I was playing backyard foot. You throw the ball up,
- 27:17Speaker 6: I'm gonna go get it. That's it.
- 27:19Speaker 11: Like now, knowing plays and route depths and where I
- 27:22Speaker 11: fit into the play.
- 27:23Speaker 6: That took some time.
- 27:25Speaker 11: But once I got that in addition to my athleticism,
- 27:28Speaker 11: that's when I became like dangerous in the NFL.
- 27:31Speaker 1: When you got to the NFL, the speed of the game,
- 27:33Speaker 1: did it feel similar to going high school to college
- 27:37Speaker 1: or was it so much more significant in college to
- 27:39Speaker 1: pro just seeing the other guys faster.
- 27:43Speaker 6: Yeah, the pro level is it's no joke. It's cutthroat.
- 27:47Speaker 11: You're seeing we get Pete Carroll his first year there,
- 27:51Speaker 11: New GM Schnyder first year there, and as a rookie,
- 27:55Speaker 11: I'm seeing guys from the moment I get in, Guys
- 27:59Speaker 11: are coming in, are being cut Guys are coming in
- 28:01Speaker 11: guys been cut. I mean I think that year long
- 28:04Speaker 11: we had over like two hundred transactions of guys just
- 28:07Speaker 11: coming in. I'm first round is getting cut, second round
- 28:10Speaker 11: is getting cut. Bringing in every person who ever come
- 28:13Speaker 11: from USC to give them a chance.
- 28:14Speaker 6: And it was like, this is the NFL.
- 28:17Speaker 1: What like adult adult men too, Like adult adult like
- 28:19Speaker 1: full beards, like thirtye year old men.
- 28:22Speaker 6: You got grown men who are trying to feed their families. Period.
- 28:25Speaker 11: There's no scholarship, Like, you better show up, show out,
- 28:29Speaker 11: and you got a leash. If you're like a first, second, third,
- 28:31Speaker 11: fourth rounder, they'll be somewhat patient with you.
- 28:34Speaker 6: But after that you might not get a single rep
- 28:37Speaker 6: all week.
- 28:38Speaker 11: And they throw you into the game and they expect
- 28:40Speaker 11: you to know your assignment, performing at high level, and
- 28:44Speaker 11: if you don't, you might get cut. They don't think
- 28:46Speaker 11: the NFL does not feel sorry for you or anyone else.
- 28:48Speaker 11: The show must go on.
- 28:50Speaker 1: When you leave your junior year at Notre Dame and
- 28:52Speaker 1: you get in the draft, where did you feel like
- 28:53Speaker 1: you would go in the draft? Because you end up
- 28:55Speaker 1: going in the second round? Right, yes, where did where
- 28:58Speaker 1: did you think you would go? Did you was there
- 28:59Speaker 1: a play that you thought you would go in in
- 29:01Speaker 1: what spot did you feel like was numerically would be
- 29:05Speaker 1: the best and worst situation? Did you think on the
- 29:08Speaker 1: end of the first we were agent saying that at all.
- 29:10Speaker 11: Yeah, So I was told into the first round, possibly
- 29:15Speaker 11: up to maybe halfway through the second round, depending on
- 29:18Speaker 11: who's available, what teams need. But I'm sitting pretty good
- 29:21Speaker 11: this year. I'm coming out my junior season. I just
- 29:24Speaker 11: won the blittan A cough which is the best receiver
- 29:27Speaker 11: in college football. I put up on record setting numbers essentially, Yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Like sixteen hundred yards. Yeah, yeah, I mean, was it easy?
- 29:36Speaker 2: Was that year easy?
- 29:38Speaker 11: It kinda because, like we were always down and so
- 29:43Speaker 11: you always had to air it out when we had
- 29:44Speaker 11: Jimmy Clausta just throwing that thing up and like me
- 29:47Speaker 11: and Mike Floyd just running deep, catching balls over whoever.
- 29:50Speaker 11: It didn't matter, just throw it to us. We're gonna
- 29:52Speaker 11: find a way. And so it was fun and easy.
- 29:55Speaker 11: But I remember Draft night. I mean, I got, you know, I'm.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Rocking to shape. I've had this point.
- 30:00Speaker 11: I got a nice outfit, a nice suit on, and
- 30:03Speaker 11: we rent out this whole like hotel downtown.
- 30:06Speaker 6: I can't Eve remember the name of it.
- 30:07Speaker 11: I got all my homies, my belitting the call forward,
- 30:09Speaker 11: and I sit there for you know, I kind of
- 30:12Speaker 11: knew I wasn't going top fifteen or top twenty or
- 30:14Speaker 11: really even top twenty five. I'm like, all right, the
- 30:16Speaker 11: end of it is going to be where I go. Well,
- 30:18Speaker 11: I don't get drafted in the first round, so look, ay, cool, begainning.
- 30:23Speaker 11: You know, I'm maybe six seven, eight picks into the
- 30:25Speaker 11: second round, I'm gone. And the reason why I thought
- 30:27Speaker 11: that was because coach Charlie Whiss has just been fired
- 30:30Speaker 11: from Notre Dame and went over to Kansas City and
- 30:34Speaker 11: they had two picks in the first ten picks of
- 30:37Speaker 11: the second round, and my meetings they said like, hey,
- 30:40Speaker 11: if you're there, we really want you. And Coach Whis said, hey,
- 30:43Speaker 11: I'm pulling for you obviously, I've seen you. You fit
- 30:45Speaker 11: in great in this office. So I'm just up there like, yep,
- 30:48Speaker 11: all right, day two it's one. I won't be here
- 30:50Speaker 11: for very long. And they get to the first pick
- 30:53Speaker 11: of the second round in Kansas City. I think they
- 30:55Speaker 11: take like Dexter mccluster out of Ole Miss like the.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Back I'll watch it.
- 31:00Speaker 11: My hybrid yeah, yeah, yeah, And I'm like, no, the
- 31:04Speaker 11: they did not. But then in my mind like, all right,
- 31:07Speaker 11: well they got another pick in like four picks or
- 31:10Speaker 11: six picks or something like that, so surely they're gonna
- 31:13Speaker 11: pick me then, right, I don't even know who they picked,
- 31:16Speaker 11: but they did not pick me, and I'm just like,
- 31:19Speaker 11: you've lied to me, you betrayed me. And so I
- 31:23Speaker 11: sit there like you go from like, so crap. Now
- 31:27Speaker 11: you're starting to look on your phone, and now every
- 31:29Speaker 11: time your phone rings You're like, oh gosh.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Just my buddy, telemarketer, telemarket why are you calling me?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Dude?
- 31:37Speaker 11: Like and eventually, like I think it was it was
- 31:39Speaker 11: like a two six number is either two of six
- 31:42Speaker 11: or four two five?
- 31:42Speaker 6: And I'm like, he was this, where is this? Hey?
- 31:46Speaker 1: This is uh?
- 31:47Speaker 6: Pete Carroll's like what you want?
- 31:48Speaker 12: Man?
- 31:48Speaker 6: You had that ce.
- 31:50Speaker 4: You know.
- 31:50Speaker 11: I'm the head coach at Seattle Seahawks, and I remember
- 31:52Speaker 11: what you did to us a few months ago. Every
- 31:55Speaker 11: year you were impossible guard, and so I would love
- 31:58Speaker 11: for you to join our team. And I'm like, oh, okay, yeah,
- 32:06Speaker 11: I'd love to. And so they ended up drafting and
- 32:07Speaker 11: my next question is where the hell is Washington.
- 32:09Speaker 6: Is that like DC? And so I'm like, where is
- 32:13Speaker 6: Washington because it.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Was never like I thought you would go there. No,
- 32:15Speaker 2: Like they never had reached out, no.
- 32:18Speaker 11: Meetings, yeah, no workouts at the combat nothing and they
- 32:24Speaker 11: draft me. And that was the best possible situation for
- 32:30Speaker 11: me period. If I can do it all over again,
- 32:32Speaker 11: I would not do it a single different way. Like
- 32:36Speaker 11: having coach Carol as a coach, how patient he was
- 32:38Speaker 11: with me, what our team did for the city, including
- 32:42Speaker 11: bringing the first ever super Bowl, that.
- 32:44Speaker 6: Me meeting my wife in that city.
- 32:47Speaker 11: It couldn't have been more perfect, and it was complete
- 32:51Speaker 11: God playing chess with me, and I'm so thankful for it.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Were you a fan of the NFL, because it's weird
- 32:57Speaker 5: that you wouldn't know where Seattle was ortography, Dude.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I get Washington, DC and Washington State makes up too.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Still sometimes to this day.
- 33:04Speaker 11: I'm a kid at this point, right, I'm like twenty one,
- 33:07Speaker 11: like kind of phones are kind of starting to be,
- 33:12Speaker 11: you know, big time, But you know I didn't have
- 33:14Speaker 11: an iPhone where you just hop on the app and like,
- 33:17Speaker 11: what the way this is? Like I'm thinking I'm a
- 33:20Speaker 11: Southern kid. Thought I was stay in the South for
- 33:22Speaker 11: the rest of my life, and then I get shipped
- 33:23Speaker 11: off to the Midwest, where I didn't even know what
- 33:25Speaker 11: the Midwest was. Jeff Fairy NFL team the Titans. Yeah,
- 33:29Speaker 11: I mean the Titans a hometown team. I still cry
- 33:32Speaker 11: to this day, you know.
- 33:33Speaker 1: But it was like the year Hawks were I mean,
- 33:36Speaker 1: we didn't have NFL Sunday tickets then, so you really
- 33:37Speaker 1: just watch Seahawk games.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I had a poster with all the teams on it.
- 33:40Speaker 2: That's kind of how I knew. Little helmets there's helmets.
- 33:44Speaker 6: Yeah, a machine.
- 33:46Speaker 1: So you go to Seattle at least, I mean, it rains,
- 33:49Speaker 1: doesn't really rain a lot there.
- 33:51Speaker 4: You know.
- 33:52Speaker 11: To me, what I remember, it was a constant like
- 33:55Speaker 11: drizzle like nothing that like, it was never raining so
- 33:59Speaker 11: much as even huddles out there, just like a light
- 34:01Speaker 11: drizzle and always gray. And I remember there was a
- 34:04Speaker 11: time where I would go into work it would be dark.
- 34:07Speaker 11: I would get out of work it'd be dark, and
- 34:08Speaker 11: that is kind of depressing. But the off season I
- 34:13Speaker 11: would just I learned my girlfriend at the time, my wife,
- 34:15Speaker 11: kind of taught me how to snowboard.
- 34:17Speaker 2: So he stayed up there. Yeah, you made that home home.
- 34:20Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah. I mean I didn't have money like that
- 34:22Speaker 6: to be having more places, but we.
- 34:24Speaker 2: All think you do.
- 34:25Speaker 1: You mean the NFL, we think everybody has one hundred
- 34:27Speaker 1: million dollars.
- 34:27Speaker 5: So I've always thought, like, when you get drafted, it's like, oh,
- 34:30Speaker 5: this is it payday?
- 34:31Speaker 6: Is that not the case?
- 34:32Speaker 11: You play the game to get that second pay day,
- 34:34Speaker 11: That second pay day, if you do it right, that's
- 34:37Speaker 11: the one that sets you up, hopefully for life and
- 34:39Speaker 11: even digs into generations.
- 34:41Speaker 6: If you do it correctly.
- 34:42Speaker 11: And so you know, yes, when I was drafted, it
- 34:45Speaker 11: was a whole bunch of money. I'm like, oh, okay,
- 34:47Speaker 11: I can kind of get whatever I want and not
- 34:49Speaker 11: really have to think about it. But I was also
- 34:51Speaker 11: one of those guys like, man, I got a plan
- 34:53Speaker 11: for only the guarantee and if something happens, God forbids,
- 34:57Speaker 11: I need to plan to have something to fall back
- 35:00Speaker 11: on where I don't have to work right away, And
- 35:02Speaker 11: so trying to find out what investment makes sense, who
- 35:05Speaker 11: to trust, who not to trust, Like this is a
- 35:07Speaker 11: lot for a kid who grew up in the hood
- 35:09Speaker 11: that all of a sudden has all this money. When
- 35:11Speaker 11: I got into the league, I didn't even know how
- 35:12Speaker 11: to write a check, let alone taxes. I thought, okay,
- 35:15Speaker 11: I just I'm getting three million dollars. I'm getting three
- 35:18Speaker 11: million dollars and then after that you're going to take
- 35:20Speaker 11: the few percents for the agent and then your financial advisor.
- 35:24Speaker 11: I'm gonna auto pay my rent, and like it's not
- 35:28Speaker 11: really a lot of money where it's like, okay, it's
- 35:30Speaker 11: five hundred bucks here, one thousand dollars here. But when
- 35:33Speaker 11: you look at it over a year spent you like.
- 35:38Speaker 6: Gonna spend how much.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Were you taking care of yourself?
- 35:42Speaker 1: Like Lebron like definitely different, and technology is different, and
- 35:46Speaker 1: like what we even know about our bodies is different
- 35:48Speaker 1: in the past ten years, you know, it has progressed
- 35:51Speaker 1: so much. But you know, even Derrick Henry, like they
- 35:53Speaker 1: spend a lot of money to keep their bodies right.
- 35:56Speaker 1: What was your routine like were you, like, what what
- 36:00Speaker 1: did you do to stay healthy? Like we spend the
- 36:02Speaker 1: money on Massusa's they have those of the facility.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Were you doing like chef like food or did you
- 36:08Speaker 2: do start doing that later once you realized how I Portland.
- 36:10Speaker 6: Was, I started doing it later.
- 36:12Speaker 11: I was getting massages early on because the older guys
- 36:15Speaker 11: are getting massages, and I tried not to be super
- 36:17Speaker 11: hard hitted, and I did some of the things, but
- 36:19Speaker 11: obviously late in the season you just kind of like,
- 36:21Speaker 11: I'd rather just sleep and resp But I always took
- 36:25Speaker 11: care of my body. But as you get older, you
- 36:27Speaker 11: feel your body changed, and you feel that you can't
- 36:30Speaker 11: do things as easily as you did when you were
- 36:33Speaker 11: twenty one twenty two.
- 36:34Speaker 6: You start feeling like, Okay, when.
- 36:37Speaker 11: I was my first few years in the league, I
- 36:39Speaker 11: could play a game on Sunday, and no matter how
- 36:41Speaker 11: many times I got hit, attack, I woke up next morning.
- 36:43Speaker 11: I feel like I can play another game. Now I
- 36:45Speaker 11: get to your five six seven. Now it's taking me
- 36:48Speaker 11: until Wednesday morning to pretty much get right, and I
- 36:52Speaker 11: gotta get massages, acupuncture, nad drips, hydration drips, ozone therapy
- 37:01Speaker 11: just to be able to practice on Wednesday and Thursday
- 37:04Speaker 11: and have myself back before, you know, hopefully by Saturday.
- 37:08Speaker 11: So I'm going in a Sunday confident, feeling like I
- 37:10Speaker 11: mentally have clarity.
- 37:11Speaker 6: Physically, I feel good, and you're just kind of hoping.
- 37:15Speaker 11: So you start adding and taking things away each each
- 37:19Speaker 11: year you realize, all right, well, I don't need this
- 37:21Speaker 11: as much, so I'm going to take that out substitute this,
- 37:24Speaker 11: And so you just had to mix and match.
- 37:26Speaker 6: And you know it used to kill me. Man. Guys,
- 37:30Speaker 6: guys in the locker room would.
- 37:32Speaker 11: Spend money playing talk and playing bu Ray, which is
- 37:35Speaker 11: the games, and going to the casino. But then I
- 37:38Speaker 11: would have like a an art guy or Masseu's come
- 37:42Speaker 11: in that was you know, highly known, and they you know,
- 37:45Speaker 11: weeks before the Yeah, I'll be them there, and then
- 37:47Speaker 11: it come to day of Oh bro, it's too expensive.
- 37:51Speaker 11: But I just saw you play that entire hand right
- 37:53Speaker 11: there on the game of Tonk that you played stupid
- 37:56Speaker 11: at that what do you what do you mean? And
- 37:59Speaker 11: so then I was like that was fun, yeah, right,
- 38:02Speaker 11: like for that two seconds. And then guess who gets
- 38:04Speaker 11: stuck with the bill. It was supposed to be split,
- 38:06Speaker 11: you know, fifteen twenty ways, but then you have three, four,
- 38:09Speaker 11: five guys and it goes from like five hundred dollars
- 38:11Speaker 11: ahead till now it's a thousand. But yeah, I thought
- 38:13Speaker 11: you said it was five hundred. Well I also thought X,
- 38:17Speaker 11: Y and Z gonna be there, but they bounced last minute.
- 38:19Speaker 11: So I used to piss me off. But you gotta
- 38:23Speaker 11: kind of pick and choose, like when you're gonna complain
- 38:25Speaker 11: to your teammates.
- 38:26Speaker 6: I'd be like, it's all good, bro, I'm no og.
- 38:29Speaker 11: You know I signed this deal, so the optics of it,
- 38:31Speaker 11: I should just pick it up all them like man punks.
- 38:36Speaker 1: When you go up your first year and you go
- 38:38Speaker 1: from your playbook at Notre Dame to your playbook with Seattle,
- 38:41Speaker 1: and I'm just thinking playbook, Like they literally give you
- 38:44Speaker 1: a book.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Is that what happened to bind her?
- 38:45Speaker 4: Is it?
- 38:46Speaker 1: How much more in depth is it than what you
- 38:48Speaker 1: came from to what you went to?
- 38:51Speaker 11: It's so much in depth, much more depth. And when
- 38:53Speaker 11: I got into Notre Dame because I was I was
- 38:57Speaker 11: recruited as a running back out of high school. At
- 38:59Speaker 11: high school, and then when I got to Notre Dame,
- 39:03Speaker 11: coach twice noticed that I was only watching the receivers
- 39:06Speaker 11: and I don't know why, but I just my ragislim receivers.
- 39:09Speaker 11: And so he says, hey, I saw you watching the
- 39:12Speaker 11: war receivers, so I'm willing to recruit you as a
- 39:15Speaker 11: wide receiver. That's fine, I said, Okay, great, awesome. Didn't
- 39:18Speaker 11: even cross my mind.
- 39:19Speaker 2: You would open to the change.
- 39:20Speaker 11: Yeah, well, I kind of saw myself as a receiver anyway.
- 39:23Speaker 11: My dad was a receiver, and you know, I'm a
- 39:25Speaker 11: five to ten, one ninety guy. Too many of us
- 39:28Speaker 11: running the running the ball, but.
- 39:32Speaker 6: The playbook man. Going from running back to receiver, it
- 39:36Speaker 6: is so tough.
- 39:37Speaker 11: I think being a receiver is one of the toughest
- 39:40Speaker 11: transitions in football, especially when you get trade it, because
- 39:44Speaker 11: not only do you have to know your route and
- 39:46Speaker 11: the combination, but you have to know both sides of
- 39:49Speaker 11: the ball, like the left side and the right side.
- 39:52Speaker 6: We're in two minute offense.
- 39:53Speaker 11: You got to understand like if they run this coverage,
- 39:56Speaker 11: this route turns into this, or if they run this coverage,
- 39:59Speaker 11: you have to get the outside release because if you don't,
- 40:01Speaker 11: you're gonna blow up the guy that you're you know,
- 40:04Speaker 11: running the route force. You got to understand a whole
- 40:06Speaker 11: bunch and on top of that, you got to build
- 40:09Speaker 11: a camarade of the of the quarterback.
- 40:12Speaker 6: And on top of that, you.
- 40:12Speaker 11: Gottaly on the off its linemen to hold up well
- 40:15Speaker 11: enough so the ball can get to you. So like
- 40:18Speaker 11: I struggled my freshman year, and then I struggled again
- 40:21Speaker 11: my rookie and sophomore season. But then once it clicked
- 40:25Speaker 11: and I figured it out, Oh football became fun.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Man See, I think my frustration would be running around
- 40:31Speaker 1: and not getting the ball thrown to me, because like
- 40:35Speaker 1: I'm a I'm a type A have to be in
- 40:38Speaker 1: this industry. I'm a type A. I need the attention,
- 40:41Speaker 1: I need the mic, I need whatever it is. And
- 40:43Speaker 1: I feel like if I'm the guy and I'm going
- 40:45Speaker 1: out and over and over again, I'm running these routes
- 40:47Speaker 1: as hard as it possibly can and the ball is
- 40:49Speaker 1: not coming to me, I feel like I would be
- 40:51Speaker 1: personally offended. It would bother me because and then I
- 40:54Speaker 1: would just stop thinking it was ever coming to me.
- 40:56Speaker 1: They'd to reach a point where like I'm never getting
- 40:58Speaker 1: the freaking ball.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Can you say something like who you tell?
- 41:01Speaker 11: When you're young, you just kind of got you got
- 41:03Speaker 11: to shut up and just let the film speak because
- 41:05Speaker 11: the Iron of Scots literally everything everything, So you kind
- 41:11Speaker 11: of had to just play and like do your job
- 41:15Speaker 11: like it was for a greater good. But coming out
- 41:18Speaker 11: of high school where I was the guy every like
- 41:21Speaker 11: you needed something.
- 41:22Speaker 6: I'm punting the ball. I can throw the ball, I
- 41:24Speaker 6: can catch the ball.
- 41:25Speaker 11: I'm running the ball. I'm the point turning on the
- 41:27Speaker 11: caick re turner. I'm used to like the offense being
- 41:29Speaker 11: around me, and then you get to Notre Dame. It's
- 41:32Speaker 11: not that way, but eventually becomes kind of that way
- 41:35Speaker 11: because I was the best, one of the best players
- 41:37Speaker 11: on the team, and then you get to the league
- 41:39Speaker 11: and it's nothing like that.
- 41:40Speaker 6: You have to do a job.
- 41:41Speaker 11: You have to like run this route in order for
- 41:44Speaker 11: the concept to work correctly, because you're gonna get coverages
- 41:47Speaker 11: where like I'm running a cover one route, but we
- 41:50Speaker 11: get covered two, which makes my route dead. But I
- 41:52Speaker 11: need to do a job to open it up for
- 41:55Speaker 11: the spot route inside or whatever the route is for them.
- 41:58Speaker 6: And so understand the big picture sure is key.
- 42:01Speaker 11: And that's why I think being a receiver you really
- 42:04Speaker 11: do have to be smart, and you have to be
- 42:07Speaker 11: smart quick, Like you have to make these decisions to
- 42:09Speaker 11: go inside or outside before you really even get to
- 42:12Speaker 11: think about it.
- 42:13Speaker 6: And so like that's what makes it hard. And like
- 42:15Speaker 6: I took a lot of pride.
- 42:15Speaker 11: And knowing knowing what I was supposed to do, figuring
- 42:20Speaker 11: out where the hole was and also making making plays.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I would be really frustrated.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I'd go back to huddle, have to cut. Well, you
- 42:28Speaker 1: have a helmet on, you know what you done with
- 42:31Speaker 1: the ball. But you can but if you have if
- 42:33Speaker 1: you're playing baseball, you can see your mouth basketball, you
- 42:37Speaker 1: know you can see that.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Put a helmet on, Like I will go back to huddle,
- 42:40Speaker 2: like the ball, I'm open. You ever go back, like
- 42:42Speaker 2: throw me the ball?
- 42:42Speaker 11: Oh yeah, I actually got putting time out if you will,
- 42:47Speaker 11: one of my my last season with New York. But
- 42:50Speaker 11: as a receiver, we always think we're open. Like I
- 42:54Speaker 11: would see myself on camera, I'm open, I'm open. There's
- 42:57Speaker 11: a there's a there's a DV right here on me,
- 43:01Speaker 11: waiting on the throat.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm open.
- 43:03Speaker 6: And then you watch the film. But we're in We're
- 43:05Speaker 6: in COVID year.
- 43:08Speaker 11: We got Joseph Judge, a Patriots descendant, and uh, I
- 43:14Speaker 11: wasn't getting the ball as.
- 43:15Speaker 6: Much as I probably should have. Actually I know I
- 43:18Speaker 6: wouldn't getting the ball, and.
- 43:19Speaker 11: We sucked, and I you know, I can deal with sucking,
- 43:23Speaker 11: but statistically succeeding or not statistically succeeding and winning, but
- 43:29Speaker 11: I can't do I can't suck and be losing. I
- 43:32Speaker 11: have an attitude, and so we're down by I don't
- 43:35Speaker 11: know fourteen the Tampa Bay at home COVID year, no fans,
- 43:39Speaker 11: that sucks to and they finally throw me the ball
- 43:42Speaker 11: in the back of the end zone and I go
- 43:44Speaker 11: up and make a hell of a catch, get my
- 43:47Speaker 11: feet down, and I'm like pissed at this point, like
- 43:50Speaker 11: I've been waiting all game, like throw me the dang ball.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Who's the quarterback?
- 43:54Speaker 11: It was Daniel Jones, Dang Jones, And I remember looking
- 43:57Speaker 11: to looking into the camera and was like, throw me
- 44:01Speaker 11: the damn ball. And then I said it again like
- 44:04Speaker 11: later after a catch. And between those two things and
- 44:09Speaker 11: me getting into the locker room pissed, like hey, d
- 44:11Speaker 11: you'll knocking you loze me, trade me, Like why am
- 44:13Speaker 11: I here? You're paying me all this money to not
- 44:15Speaker 11: even utilize me. And on top of that, my wife
- 44:19Speaker 11: going on Instagram putting it all over her story, like
- 44:22Speaker 11: pointing out when I'm opening the ball.
- 44:25Speaker 4: And so I get a call.
- 44:26Speaker 11: I get a call the next morning from Joe Judge.
- 44:31Speaker 11: I'm like, hell yeah, he gonna he he gonna see
- 44:35Speaker 11: what I see. And he's he's gonna, you know, throw
- 44:38Speaker 11: me the ball. We're about to play Washington Redskins at
- 44:42Speaker 11: this point. Now the Commandos is what I call him,
- 44:45Speaker 11: and they're like the fl They're probably worst human league.
- 44:48Speaker 6: At this point. This complete dumpster fire. And I'm like,
- 44:53Speaker 6: Joe Joe.
- 44:54Speaker 11: Judge calls me there and said, hey, why don't you
- 44:57Speaker 11: just take a week off and like go home and
- 44:59Speaker 11: we're not gonna to play you.
- 45:00Speaker 6: Like what you did was unacceptable. I'm like.
- 45:04Speaker 11: Huh, and he's like, you know, you can't act like that.
- 45:09Speaker 11: You yelled at someone in the locker room and then
- 45:12Speaker 11: you yelled into the camera.
- 45:14Speaker 6: And I'm like, so you're you're suspending me right now.
- 45:19Speaker 11: And then so I go I call my agent and
- 45:21Speaker 11: he's like, hey, just take the week off and come
- 45:23Speaker 11: back next week and then we're gonna refocus.
- 45:25Speaker 6: And get you the ball.
- 45:27Speaker 11: I'm like, I go home and I call my agent, like, dude,
- 45:29Speaker 11: they just suspended me for this. Joju circles back and says, hey,
- 45:35Speaker 11: we actually change my mind. We want you to come
- 45:37Speaker 11: in to practice and we're gonna put your own scout team.
- 45:39Speaker 11: As a year eleven veteran, I'm gonna put your own
- 45:42Speaker 11: scout team. And then we'll make a decision at the
- 45:45Speaker 11: end of the week. And I'm like, okay, you know
- 45:49Speaker 11: what I'm gonna I'm a practice ability right now. Okay,
- 45:53Speaker 11: I'm a practicingmility. I'm not gonna snap, and I'm gonna
- 45:56Speaker 11: be the good eleven year vet that I should be.
- 45:58Speaker 11: And so I go out there and run scout team
- 46:00Speaker 11: and absolutely torch.
- 46:02Speaker 2: You did go run Scott team.
- 46:03Speaker 11: Yes, I torched our defense as they're preparing for Washington.
- 46:07Speaker 11: I'm to my I was going deep, jumping over people,
- 46:10Speaker 11: spinning the ball, looking at Joe Judge like, yes, this
- 46:13Speaker 11: is what I'm capable of do.
- 46:14Speaker 6: But y'all don't throw.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Me the ball.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Why do you think you didn't want to get you
- 46:18Speaker 1: the ball? Do you not understand what you like? In
- 46:21Speaker 1: what ways you excelled? Why was Joe Judge not allowing
- 46:25Speaker 1: you to thrive?
- 46:26Speaker 11: I don't know, and I don't know if it was
- 46:28Speaker 11: Joe Judge or if it was Jason Garrett, who was
- 46:32Speaker 11: the offensive coordinator. Yes, I don't know. I don't know,
- 46:36Speaker 11: and I wish I knew the answer because we weren't
- 46:41Speaker 11: very good. What did you have to lose besides give
- 46:44Speaker 11: the guy who's been performing his entire career, some burne. Instead,
- 46:49Speaker 11: we're throwing the guys. We're making game plans for guys
- 46:51Speaker 11: who dropped the ball weekly. I'm like, what's going on?
- 46:55Speaker 11: You guess something against me? I mean, anyway, so I
- 47:00Speaker 11: dominate them in practice. Get to Friday where he's like,
- 47:03Speaker 11: we have a decision by Friday. I obviously know the
- 47:06Speaker 11: offense because I've been running it every week and I'm
- 47:09Speaker 11: a professional. And he still says, Hey, you know what,
- 47:11Speaker 11: We're gonna roll with the guys who've been practicing all
- 47:13Speaker 11: week and we're going to you know, you just stay
- 47:17Speaker 11: back at home, come back ready to go that Monday,
- 47:20Speaker 11: and we're gonna we promise you we're gonna get you involved.
- 47:23Speaker 11: I'm like, are you freaking serious? We go out there
- 47:28Speaker 11: or I guess they go out there and win the game,
- 47:30Speaker 11: which is shit. It's the Washington Do you watch it
- 47:33Speaker 11: on TV?
- 47:34Speaker 6: Yes?
- 47:34Speaker 11: I watch it and I'm on airs like I'm like
- 47:36Speaker 11: biting my fingernails. I'm like cursing myself out, cursing anyone
- 47:42Speaker 11: in the organization out.
- 47:44Speaker 6: I'm like mentally and I'm just I'm pissed. I get
- 47:47Speaker 6: back in.
- 47:49Speaker 11: And being the professional that I am I go and
- 47:53Speaker 11: back to back to business as usual. I have a
- 47:56Speaker 11: fun you know, I have a better season. We still suck,
- 48:00Speaker 11: and at this point I have two more years of
- 48:01Speaker 11: my contract. And we get to the end of year
- 48:04Speaker 11: meetings and we're sitting in the environment like this, and
- 48:06Speaker 11: Joseph Judge is like, I really appreciate how you responded
- 48:09Speaker 11: and how you handled after that situation earlier this year,
- 48:12Speaker 11: and if it's up to me, like, we're gonna have
- 48:15Speaker 11: you here, We're gonna build, build on and we're gonna
- 48:17Speaker 11: find ways to get you the ball and so on
- 48:19Speaker 11: and so forth. And I'm like, oh, great, good okay,
- 48:25Speaker 11: I'm glad I didn't I wasn't an asshole.
- 48:26Speaker 6: I mean, it's good man.
- 48:29Speaker 11: Three weeks later, Hey, gold, this is Dave Bieedelman. You know,
- 48:35Speaker 11: we just want to let you know that we're gonna
- 48:36Speaker 11: release you, and good luck and thank you for everything
- 48:40Speaker 11: you do. And Joe gets on the phone like he
- 48:42Speaker 11: didn't just tell me all this bs, and he's like, hey,
- 48:45Speaker 11: you know, thank you, I really appreciate how you hanging
- 48:47Speaker 11: yourself as a pro, and good luck with everything. And
- 48:50Speaker 11: I'm like, what in the flying I'm pissed. I'm pissed anyway.
- 48:56Speaker 11: So that's kind of how it all ended for me.
- 49:00Speaker 11: How is your body at that point?
- 49:01Speaker 2: And how's your body now? Like you hurt now?
- 49:04Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 49:05Speaker 11: Oh yeah, if it's called joints, everything hurts, okay. So
- 49:09Speaker 11: here's so I go through my disability stuff and it's
- 49:14Speaker 11: a point system. You get eleven points based off different
- 49:17Speaker 11: injuries that you have, and I've got eleven points and
- 49:20Speaker 11: flying colors. I was probably more twenty seven points. And
- 49:23Speaker 11: so I go into the doctor because I've always had
- 49:25Speaker 11: neck issues. I'm like, you know, I'm having all these
- 49:29Speaker 11: issues with my neck and then like they tell me
- 49:31Speaker 11: see four C five or like that.
- 49:33Speaker 6: And the doctor says, mister Tate, so how old are you?
- 49:36Speaker 11: And I say, I'm I think I'm about thirty four
- 49:39Speaker 11: at this point, thirty three at this point He's like, well,
- 49:43Speaker 11: you have a seventy four year old neck?
- 49:45Speaker 4: What?
- 49:47Speaker 6: But I mean, I can't be good.
- 49:48Speaker 11: It's like you don't need surgery yet, but like everything's
- 49:51Speaker 11: just worn down, which is expected from playing football contact sport.
- 49:55Speaker 11: But I'm like a seventy four year old neck and
- 49:56Speaker 11: I'm only thirty mid thirties. And that was kind of
- 50:00Speaker 11: that moment. Like, whoa, this is what I signed up for,
- 50:03Speaker 11: and now I got arthritis and my left big toe.
- 50:07Speaker 11: I got in your toe, Yeah, my left big toe.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Man, it's like you can't move it at all.
- 50:12Speaker 6: Like I can't move it at her. It hurts.
- 50:13Speaker 11: I feel like I need to pop it all the time.
- 50:15Speaker 11: I got bone spurs at the top of it. I
- 50:17Speaker 11: obviously have neck and shoulder issues. Like I took a
- 50:20Speaker 11: lot of pride of staying out of the training room
- 50:25Speaker 11: and being available and healthy. One time I played, I
- 50:29Speaker 11: played through a Grade three AC joint spring, which is
- 50:34Speaker 11: pretty much a separation to the point where like it
- 50:37Speaker 11: sticks up right now.
- 50:38Speaker 6: I didn't miss a single it was it was a
- 50:40Speaker 6: four to six week injury. I didn't miss a game.
- 50:44Speaker 1: With intent on just showing up and being the professional.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Or if you miss a game, somebody may take the spot.
- 50:52Speaker 6: It was probably. It was probably everything, Like I didn't
- 50:55Speaker 6: want anyone taking my reps.
- 50:56Speaker 11: I loved the game so much. It was my contract year.
- 51:01Speaker 11: I felt like we could make the playoffs. I was
- 51:04Speaker 11: Stafford's like number one receiver. It was middle of the
- 51:09Speaker 11: season and I was like, I'm not giving them any
- 51:10Speaker 11: reason not to want to pay me.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Do you hide that injury or do you do they
- 51:15Speaker 1: just know you're playing hurt.
- 51:16Speaker 6: Although X rays said it's.
- 51:19Speaker 11: It's jacked, like you don't need We're going to see
- 51:21Speaker 11: Howard heels, but you don't need surgery.
- 51:25Speaker 6: And so I reb happened going into our bay.
- 51:27Speaker 11: So I had a week of like until I just
- 51:30Speaker 11: trying to grind it out, get it strong, do whatever
- 51:33Speaker 11: I need to do, rehab twice a day. I'm just
- 51:36Speaker 11: doing it all and I'm able to like lift my
- 51:40Speaker 11: shoulder up and catch balls with a lot of pain.
- 51:44Speaker 11: But they shot it up, they numbed it. They numbed
- 51:46Speaker 11: it for every game, and so for the rest of season,
- 51:49Speaker 11: I just numbed it up and dealt with it. And
- 51:51Speaker 11: still I think I either had a thousand yards or
- 51:54Speaker 11: I was like a twenty yards shy of a thousand yards.
- 51:57Speaker 6: But I played and a year later or something like that,
- 52:02Speaker 6: two years later, I end up getting traded.
- 52:04Speaker 2: How do you deal now? Because you play picktball?
- 52:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I saw the court out there.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I played a little bit, but like that's
- 52:12Speaker 1: that's a lot of stopping go especially playing singles, like
- 52:15Speaker 1: can you still move?
- 52:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 52:17Speaker 1: I mean I assume you can't. But does it hurt?
- 52:20Speaker 1: It's to man, I'm saying all those injuries feel like
- 52:23Speaker 1: that would keep me from being prime pickaball.
- 52:25Speaker 6: You know, Yeah, it does hurt, and I feel limited
- 52:29Speaker 6: at times.
- 52:29Speaker 11: But as a football player, you've been taught that no pain,
- 52:35Speaker 11: no game right like I've been If I don't if
- 52:38Speaker 11: I'm not hurting somewhere, I'm not doing anything.
- 52:41Speaker 6: I'm not doing something right.
- 52:42Speaker 11: And I've told myself over years and years and years that,
- 52:46Speaker 11: and now I'm starting to realize, like, wait a minute,
- 52:49Speaker 11: I'm not even playing football or anything that's significantly as
- 52:52Speaker 11: hard as football.
- 52:54Speaker 6: Why am I still aching in pains?
- 52:55Speaker 11: And it's like the less I work out, the more
- 52:58Speaker 11: these pains start stacking up.
- 53:00Speaker 6: I'm like, man, I where is my other knee hurting?
- 53:03Speaker 2: Like what?
- 53:04Speaker 11: But it's not gonna stop me. I refuse to just
- 53:06Speaker 11: sit on my tail and not do anything because I
- 53:08Speaker 11: am an athlete and I have my on my worst
- 53:13Speaker 11: days is when I don't get to go play golf
- 53:16Speaker 11: or play pick a ball or do something competitive like.
- 53:18Speaker 6: I am a born competitor and.
- 53:20Speaker 11: I believe God gifted me with a lot of athleticism
- 53:22Speaker 11: and I will use every single drop of the athleticism,
- 53:26Speaker 11: even if that means I'm in pain during it.
- 53:27Speaker 1: I wish I could buy some of it, Like I
- 53:29Speaker 1: only got rich recently, and I wish I could buy
- 53:31Speaker 1: some of it because I like like, I wish I
- 53:34Speaker 1: was an athlete, like I try, I would try my
- 53:35Speaker 1: whole life. But I like I because you're a little
- 53:38Speaker 1: too injured to use all of it right.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Effectively, Like he's got all these injuries. I have a
- 53:42Speaker 2: little bit of that. I like, Scoop some final three questions, Eddie,
- 53:46Speaker 2: what do you miss the most about the game?
- 53:49Speaker 11: Definitely the locker room, like the brotherhood of it being
- 53:53Speaker 11: in one place with the same goal of winning and
- 53:57Speaker 11: putting in the same amount of work, and the reward
- 54:01Speaker 11: of winning and the dinners that the blood, sweat and
- 54:05Speaker 11: tears all that. It's like, you got a bunch of
- 54:08Speaker 11: guys with so much in common. How we got here,
- 54:13Speaker 11: it's pretty similar. We all went to some school, we
- 54:15Speaker 11: all got drafted or undrafted, we're all we all got
- 54:18Speaker 11: there some way, and it's you have so many similarities
- 54:21Speaker 11: and backgrounds and then you don't have anymore. Man, I
- 54:25Speaker 11: just I long for like that sense of community, especially
- 54:31Speaker 11: after like COVID, like having to be stuck in the
- 54:33Speaker 11: house go to work. I couldn't tap up my homie.
- 54:36Speaker 11: I had to be just like hey man with the
- 54:39Speaker 11: mask and I can't readlip. You know, it's it's a disaster.
- 54:42Speaker 11: It made me really appreciate relationships a lot more, and
- 54:45Speaker 11: like that's probably what I missed the absolute most. And like,
- 54:49Speaker 11: I'm constantly looking for a way to have that camaraderie
- 54:53Speaker 11: and so I found that with golf and pickleball at times.
- 54:58Speaker 6: And yeah, we can be your dudes.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Yeah well, yeah, well we'll come road. Two questions left.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Who was your favorite quarterback to play with Matthew Stafford
- 55:09Speaker 1: to be happy when he won?
- 55:10Speaker 11: Heck yeah, so I wasn't playing at this point, so
- 55:13Speaker 11: I was able to like gamble as soon as he
- 55:16Speaker 11: got traded. Oh yeah, that's a whole another area. Yeah, yeah, yea,
- 55:20Speaker 11: yeahs come on yeah the jener night. Yes, it was
- 55:29Speaker 11: Matthew Stafford. The moment he got traded one, I gave
- 55:31Speaker 11: him a call, Hey, buddy, I'm a free agent, bring
- 55:34Speaker 11: me on over. It didn't work out, obviously, but the
- 55:38Speaker 11: moment he walked into LA I went and put a
- 55:40Speaker 11: bet the Rams were winning super Bowl like week one
- 55:44Speaker 11: or week two for like I don't know, one hundred
- 55:47Speaker 11: bucks and it paid out like fifty hundred bucks.
- 55:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I felt like a genius.
- 55:51Speaker 1: You bet at the beginning of the year. It wasn't
- 55:52Speaker 1: like you bet at the super Bowl. You bet it
- 55:53Speaker 1: because you felt like Staffing.
- 55:55Speaker 6: I knew Stafford.
- 55:56Speaker 11: I knew that if he was just in a better situation,
- 55:59Speaker 11: that that man thrive, Like look at what he'd done
- 56:02Speaker 11: in Detroit with not much around him and me had Megatron,
- 56:05Speaker 11: but besides that, like he was a one man band,
- 56:08Speaker 11: and so like I just knew like how talent he was,
- 56:10Speaker 11: and people used to think I was. They would ask
- 56:13Speaker 11: me the same question and I said, Matthew Stafford, and
- 56:15Speaker 11: they look at me like what not not not Russell Wilson,
- 56:20Speaker 11: not even close? Who you want a super Bowl with? Yes,
- 56:22Speaker 11: not even close. Like Russell is and was good and
- 56:26Speaker 11: could throw a great deep ball. But the things that
- 56:30Speaker 11: Stafford was doing was next level. And so I went
- 56:34Speaker 11: from like this, Golden Tate has no clue about football.
- 56:38Speaker 11: He's an idiot, So like, oh shit, Golden Tate might
- 56:41Speaker 11: know what he's talking about. Because Stafford goes there after
- 56:44Speaker 11: one year, one year wins the super Bowl. That's only
- 56:48Speaker 11: happened like once more with Tom Brady. Ever where you go,
- 56:53Speaker 11: you leave the team you've been went for decades, go
- 56:57Speaker 11: to a new team and win the super Bowl. That
- 56:58Speaker 11: first year didn't happen, and so suddenly people like, Okay, yeah,
- 57:03Speaker 11: Staff's really good.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Final question week one to week two, because that's where
- 57:09Speaker 1: we are now, is we're having this conversation. Are there
- 57:12Speaker 1: times where you don't quite know what your team is
- 57:14Speaker 1: until week one? Or when do you kind of learn
- 57:16Speaker 1: your identity as a team, like if you're actually gonna
- 57:18Speaker 1: be good or.
- 57:19Speaker 6: As a fan or now as a player?
- 57:20Speaker 1: A good question because like the Panthers, they had one
- 57:23Speaker 1: hundred squored on them, like do they are they all like, well,
- 57:25Speaker 1: we really do suck? Or does it take a few weeks?
- 57:28Speaker 1: Because there were some teams that had bad week ones
- 57:30Speaker 1: that can actually figure.
- 57:31Speaker 10: It out.
- 57:33Speaker 11: These teams that get blown out. I think the gap
- 57:36Speaker 11: is a lot closer than fans can see. And like
- 57:41Speaker 11: you believe no matter who you have, that you can
- 57:43Speaker 11: beat any team on any given day.
- 57:45Speaker 6: Now the question is can you consistently do that? And
- 57:47Speaker 6: that's the mentality.
- 57:49Speaker 11: A bunch of intangibles kind of coming together in tangibles
- 57:52Speaker 11: and a team like.
- 57:56Speaker 6: A team like Carolina, they're just fighting an uphill battle.
- 58:00Speaker 11: They got, you know, new head coach which coached me,
- 58:03Speaker 11: and I believe in him Canalis.
- 58:07Speaker 6: But to me, the quarterback situation is a little bit.
- 58:11Speaker 4: You know, but.
- 58:14Speaker 11: They're going to beat some people this year that you
- 58:16Speaker 11: probably thought they never in a million years should beat.
- 58:19Speaker 11: But that's just the NFL, right, And so I wouldn't
- 58:25Speaker 11: bet on them to go to super Bowl or anything.
- 58:26Speaker 1: How many weeks until a team knows its identity or
- 58:29Speaker 1: how good they're supposed to be. Kent City obviously knows
- 58:33Speaker 1: they've want to in a row, But like with Detroit
- 58:35Speaker 1: going into every year where you're like, we kind of
- 58:37Speaker 1: know how good we are. We're a ten and sixteen,
- 58:40Speaker 1: we're a twelve and four team, or every year is
- 58:43Speaker 1: there just is it kind of soft and you kind
- 58:45Speaker 1: of figured out.
- 58:45Speaker 3: As you go.
- 58:46Speaker 11: You kind of figured out as you go in Like
- 58:48Speaker 11: but every game you look at it like, man, we
- 58:50Speaker 11: should have won thatf we can have Usually it's probably
- 58:53Speaker 11: within five to eight plays back you feel like you
- 58:55Speaker 11: probably would have won that game. And so when I
- 58:57Speaker 11: got to when I got to Detroit, it's almost like
- 59:01Speaker 11: we had a losing mentality. We were hoping we were
- 59:04Speaker 11: gonna win instead of expecting to win. When I was
- 59:07Speaker 11: in Seattle we played at CenturyLink, we were winning.
- 59:11Speaker 6: We knew we were gonna win.
- 59:12Speaker 11: As a matter of if it was thirty six nothing
- 59:13Speaker 11: at halftime, we was gonna win. We did not lose
- 59:16Speaker 11: at home. And when I got to Detroit, it was
- 59:18Speaker 11: just like, all right, I hope we win this week
- 59:21Speaker 11: and said, nah, man, go get it, like let's go
- 59:23Speaker 11: get in. So we started to change in mentality. And
- 59:27Speaker 11: then now now Detroit expects to win. They know that
- 59:32Speaker 11: they're going to win, and if they don't win, it's
- 59:34Speaker 11: something that they did, nothing that the opponent did.
- 59:38Speaker 2: And now we also expected to win.
- 59:39Speaker 1: The last level of confidence, like they thought they think
- 59:44Speaker 1: they might win, then they think they should win. Now
- 59:46Speaker 1: we think they should win because they've showed us over
- 59:48Speaker 1: and over again that they should win.
- 59:49Speaker 2: Absolutely, we were really appreciate coming. Bye.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Man, that's awesome my pleasure. Yeah, I feel like my
- 59:55Speaker 1: big toe would really significantly bother me more than ever
- 59:58Speaker 1: thought about it. I was the whole ti the whole
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: time he's talking, I'm thinking how much he's my big toe.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I think more than I actually realized. I used my
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: big toe a lot. That's all I've taken from this
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: that my big toe is actually quite important because the
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: whole time I've been pushing my big toe like thinking
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: of stuff I do, and I'm like, man, that sucks.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I just pay attention.
- 1:00:14Speaker 11: When you walk around, like when you take every step,
- 1:00:17Speaker 11: it's gonna end. It's gonna start with like right here
- 1:00:20Speaker 11: on your big toe.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: A turf toe is so bad. Yes, what is turf toe?
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: It's like a it's hell, I don't even know what
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: technically happens.
- 1:00:29Speaker 11: It's like the ligament gets super super super super stretched
- 1:00:34Speaker 11: and it's I guess it's like that spraining on the toe.
- 1:00:36Speaker 11: But literally life starts on that toe right when you
- 1:00:40Speaker 11: hit the bed, it hits the ground in the morning,
- 1:00:43Speaker 11: big toe. When I take my step with my left
- 1:00:46Speaker 11: and my right big toe is pushing off when I run.
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: Obviously big toe.
- 1:00:52Speaker 11: And so I got arthritis in my left one but
- 1:00:55Speaker 11: my right when I had a broken sessimoire that I
- 1:00:57Speaker 11: played on for two years. They went into it eventually
- 1:01:03Speaker 11: and saw that the thing was split and the bone
- 1:01:05Speaker 11: was bad. And so they took it out like after
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: I played on it for two years and I'm like, gosh,
- 1:01:10Speaker 11: I'm thinking, this is what our fartis feels like.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Nope, I feel like a big toe injury for an
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: athlete because it's so significant as like a ulcer in
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: my mouth.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Oh, it sits there every time I talk.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it rubs against your basically the same NFL player
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: for the foot injury as me with like a little
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: cut in my lip.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Exactly the same thing. Yeah, all we appreciate you coming
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: by man.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: Thanks a lot. Pleasure, Pleasure Braves.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: First baseman Matt Olson shows up to Fork every day.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: He's in line to play a four hundred and seventy
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: seven consecutive game as a first baseman. Thattle time with
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Pete Rose for the longest streak of games played at
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: first base in the last eighty years, and if he
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: passes Rose, he'll have the second longest streak since lou Garig,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: behind only Frank McCormick of the Reds, who had six
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: hundred and fifty two games in a row of first base.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: You take pride in in like showing up at were
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I don't know is that a thing because that's perfect
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: attendance in school for a bunch of years.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: It's good, like because even if you're sick, you come
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: and you know, you fight through everything.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: That's it's good stuff. Perfect attendance is good.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: But I'm asking you, did was that important to you?
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: No?
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: No?
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: No, no.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: Sometimes I'd fake sick and not go in. Yeah, but
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: as a parent, I want my you.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: No, I was terrible.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: How many days a Yeah, And to be fair to.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: My dad would always say, like just calling sick, it's fine,
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: call on sick, Like that's just the kind of guy
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: he was.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: So how many days of school year do you think
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: you'd miss?
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: I would probably miss two times a month. Oh a month, Yeah,
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: a Friday because we're going to go on a trip
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: or something nice.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: So a year, so let's say eight nine months, So
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: you miss about eighteen days a year.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: It's about right.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Wow, that's a lot significant.
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I'd probably average about a day and a half a
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: year through twelve years. Because I'm I had perfect tendance
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: for a few years, thirty four years. I would sometimes
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: I get so sick i'd have to miss a day
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: or two. But I rarely miss I rarely miss work.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: I'm dead. Did you like school?
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Not particularly?
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: No, I didn't like school.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Someone like school either, but I saw it as a means,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: not so much to an end, but to a better beginning,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: and I thought, if I can. I also didn't like
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: being at home, though a home sucked, I get that,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: But no, I didn't like school, and I got beat
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: up a lot until I got older, and only didn't
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: get beat up because I knew where not to go
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: was the hallway?
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Kevin, Wyt'd you bring that up?
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: Yeah? So I just wonder where you guys are, how
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: you guys fell in? Like school? Read you if I
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: remotely had a coll for a sniff, I was staying home.
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: We'll be working out, and read has excuses or a
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: bad salmon.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: The last samon, No spicy tacos, taco yesterday, it's not
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: my spicy tacos.
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: Do that before you worked out?
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: No, it was the night before. I was saying, I
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: have he's right before I work out, just have an
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: excuse from the tacos.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: He's always got some.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Little Dan, Kevin, how are you?
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: I was okay.
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: I mean, I definitely miss some, for sure, but I
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: did not miss eighteen days a year. There was one
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: day every year I missed. It was a Monday after
- 1:04:10Speaker 8: the Super Bowl. My parents let me skip that out.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Nice, So that was nice.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: That's good parents.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's fine.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: Could we celebrating throw parties?
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Casey.
- 1:04:18Speaker 10: My mom was pretty strict, so I had to go
- 1:04:20Speaker 10: in even if if I didn't feel so great.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Do you ever get perfect sentence?
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: No, I mean, I mean, like a ninety five percent
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: they are there.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: But yeah, that's good.
- 1:04:29Speaker 10: I had to push through usually and then get any
- 1:04:31Speaker 10: excuses sucked.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: We're about to talk with head coach of UNLV football,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Barry Otam, who I've known coach otom now for.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Seven or eight years. Loved him.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I got to know him when he was the defensive
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: coordinated Arkansas before he went over and took the UNLV job.
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: So like, this is my guy.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: I'm biased, but I'm also super excited that they are
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: three and oh a little background on coach otom played
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: at Missouri, was head coach at Missouri for a while.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: That didn't go as great as I think that he
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: probably would have hoped for if you asked me for
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: reasons that did not have to do with him. But
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: then went worked his way back. Decordinator Arkansas decordinator, UNLV
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: head coach, and he's just he's killing it. They beat
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Houston week one, you taw Tech week two.
- 1:05:17Speaker 6: That was a bad one.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: That was like seventy two to fourteen. Just beat Kansas,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: just weird because we know we like Kansas, because you know,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Kansas was a we had, we'd like the coach, you know,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: coach coach coach Lighthold rights. Like I said, I was
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: saying his name wrong. I was saying his name wrong forever.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: So but but I'm I'm definitely an odum guy. Uh
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: So it's the first three and I was starting forty years.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: They're nationally ranked for the first time ever, and the
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: coach is well ever, it's it's wild. Uh They are
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: ranked as a fifth group of five team right now
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: that could make the college football Playoff because there will
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: be one that makes it. But right now, if you
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: know doing the odds, I don't know, there's just killing.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: So we got coach Otamon here he is, Coach Barry
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: otom all right, Coach Otam'm with us, our hero.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: Yes, come on, what's up, buddy.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I have I've never.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Rooted for a single team out west in my entire life,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: and now I find myself for two and a half
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: years now at least just watching you NLV or if
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I can't find you, like just watching that little cartoon
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: that's like three yard game, six yard game, like first time.
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: It all started. It all started when when you guys
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: came in and saw us and visited, Hey, we'll take that.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Talking about to take that.
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: Fend uh started started upward from there. Great to see you, guys, coach,
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: Good to see you too.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: So I want to know specifically about this Kansas game
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: going into it. Did you feel like you matched up
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: well or did you feel like the game went in
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: the way that you thought it was going to because again,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: it was close, but I felt like you guys had
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: it most of the way.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: Well, you know, it's crazy, Bobby, rarely do you play
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: somebody in a different conference like we did. You know,
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: we played Kansas in the bowl game and came up short.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: So we felt like we knew their personnel really well
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: because most of the guys they had in the bowl
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: game were returning for them. So I felt like, at
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: least skill set wise, we knew personnel what we were
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: going against. And as you know in today's world, how
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: you can change your roster, I mean overnight, and you
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: know the way we didn't when I was a head
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: coach at Missouri, you know, with the nil world and
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: the transfer portal that didn't exist. So for us, I
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: look at it every years, how can you build your
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: roster for that season? And we made a lot of
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: off season changes in our personnel. So I felt like
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: in some deficiencies that we had last year, we were
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: able to either recruit or through the transfer world trap
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: guys that gave us an advantage in the certain situations
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: where we had some deficiencies last year. So I felt
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: good going into the game about just a physical matchup
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: on them versus US. And then schematically, I liked what
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: we were doing in all three phases.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: When you go and you changed, is it two hours
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: as Vegas two hours difference than us one too? It
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: is how do you how do you treat that with
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: your team? Do you get there a couple of days
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: early if there's a time zone change?
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: You know, for us, we're an early morning team. We
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: practice in the mornings, We work out in the mornings
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: just because of the heat for most of the year,
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: so we're on the field early in the morning. So
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: I think number one, you have to look at it
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: for us on what fits your team, and every team's differently,
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: so an early morning team. But also you look at
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: coming off of the week before. We had a Saturday
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: game and then it was a quick turnaround with a
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: Friday night game in Kansas City, so the work week
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: was condensed. So I was really concerned about our players
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: on the time change, on enough rest, on the things
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: that needed to do. So we spent a lot of
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: time in the off season really looking at what our
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: team needed going into this week, specifically for time change,
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: short schedule, rest, recovery, all the things that go into
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: that really scientifically, and I think we had a great
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: plan we went in on just like any other game.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: I want to get to the location, the city, whether
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: it's whole or a way. We try to get to
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: the hotel at five o'clock the day before the game,
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: and then we lock into our normal routine.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Whenever there's a day shorter than normal, do you cram
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: in more things per day or will you just not
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: have the normal day off that you normally have.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: Yeah, for us, we move everything up one calendar day,
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: so I don't know that our players noticed a big
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: difference on what their days were like. Certainly the staff.
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: As soon as that game was over on Saturday, we
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: went work on Kansas and a lot of credit to
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: our staff, we did so many things in the offseason
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: on for this week just knowing. But also, Bobby, we've
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: got we've got five Friday night games this year. I mean,
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: it's so unique on a schedule for us. But also
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: with that, eleven of our twelve games are on national TV,
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: so there's a little bit of trade off there, So
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: you've got to get creative with the schedule on what
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: that looks like.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: I was watching you guys play Houston week one, and
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: this is before oh you played Houston, because I watched
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: that as well. I've accidentally taken it a couple Houston
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: games and Houston to me is a better team than
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I thought they would be. But you guys beat them
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: as twenty seven to seven. That second game you guys played,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: it was one of those games where it was like
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: seventy to seven. Did you know who you were going
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: into this Kansas game? Did you know Houston was a
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: quality opponent, because again only two games in, but again
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: that Utah Tech game was such a blowout, like, do
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: you even have an identity after that game?
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: No? I mean really after the Houston game, and there
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: is so much chunk known as you know, going into
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: week one, and then they had a new coaching staff
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: and Willie Fritz as their head coach, and they had
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: sixty something new players on their team compared to last year.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: So we spent a lot of time in the off
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: season trying to piece that together. I thought we played well.
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: I thought, you know, we left a number of things
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: out on the field against Houston that I thought that
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: game could have broke open a lot earlier that it did.
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: And then the next week, I mean, we pulled our
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: starters at the end of the first quarter. They were done,
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: and that helped us because it was a short week
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: and we were they were off the field by one
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: thirty that day. Our starters were, so yeah, there was
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: still some unknown and I think, you know, we have
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: made progress every single week on getting a little bit better.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: But the great thing is, you know, we're three and zero.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: We've got two really good wins against what we feel
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: like quality opponents, but we haven't even gotten close to
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: playing our best ball. And that's exciting.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I'm going to go back to the Houston game just
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: for a second, because when you see a team that
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: you played and you play early and again, maybe both
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: teams that are trying to find their identity as a
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: football team, especially if they have a new coaching staff.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: But then Houston played Oklahoma very close, like the ball
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: bounce is a different way they win that game. Does
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: that make you feel a little better about your team
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: watching a like opponent play another really strong team.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: I think you look at that and as that game
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: unfolded against Ou, you could see some of the things
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: that you know, and I'm sure that coach Fritz is
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: saying the same thing that they left some things out
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: on the field. I think Houston's going to continue to
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: get better. They certainly they've got really good coaches and
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: they've got a roster full of really good athletes, so
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: I think they'll continue to get better. I think we
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: played well. We won the turnover margin, we were good
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: in third downs, We did some things in the in
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: the kicking game that really gave us an advantage. So
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: you know, I think good on good. We did what
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: we needed to do to win that game. It's also
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: good to see. Once you beat a team, if they
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: can go have success for us, especially in the world
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: of the twelve team playoff, the strength of schedule certainly
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: is going to help us this year. The more that
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: Houston or Kansas can go win.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: You said it, so I'll go there. Do you talk
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: about that with your team?
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: Absolutely? And you know, I never if I'm going to
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: be in the competitive arena, I want to win and
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: I want to achieve the highest goal you can achieve.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: So we understand we've got to win a Mountain West championship.
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: We get that.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: We also understand now there's hope for most of the
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: teams out there, there's not anymore after three weeks. But
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: we're still in the fight. We're still in the arena,
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: and we know that our margin of area is zero.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: So I know the kids and our you know their team.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: We hear it, we read it, they see all they're
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: told the stuff, So why not why not just address
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: it and make it something that we're really working towards.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: We've got a mature team, So I'm very very open
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: and honest with them because I know I would rather
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: be the voice of reason in the things that they're
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: navigating through every day than them wondering where I stand
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: with it.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: You have a mature team, you say, and that probably
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: helps after your real first national splash of press, right,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: can you talk to your guys and go I mean
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: out of the rat poison, like Saban says, I keep
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: them from eating the rat poison.
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: Did you see that? I used that yesterday in my
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: team meeting. And you know the thing, and it's crazy
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: because we're just scratching the surface on what unov can be.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: I mean, in the last before we got here, the
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: last forty years, they had averaged three wins a season,
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: so first time nationally ranked in the program history when
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: the polls came out on Monday. I mean, all, this
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: is new for a lot of people, but it's not
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: new for what our expectation and our standards are as
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: a team. So I've tried to set the stage through
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: the education piece well before the season started on this
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: is how it's going to go, this is what we
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: need to do, and if we take care of our business,
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: then then the prize gets a little bit larger towards
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: the end of the year. And I mean, we we've
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: got We've got a beast of a schedule coming up,
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: we play we have a bye this week, then we
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: played Fresno, and then we've got Syracuse, who's playing really
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: well on a Friday night, another short week, they come here.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: We've got at Utah State, We've got Boise so there's
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: so many things, and we go to Oregon State. There's
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: so many things here in the next five weeks that
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: are are huge for our program on so many levels.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: I would imagine that you look forward to those games
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: because like a Syracuse, right, they've the quarterback in Ohio
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: State last year was just throwing the crap out of
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: the ball. But you for anybody that goes, wow, they're
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: three and O, they've they've got to win over Kansas.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: I mean, you play a couple of other really good
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: teams and you end up winning the Mountain West and
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: you have zero on that second half, it's all it's
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: going to be impossible to keep you out like you
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: need those Syracuse Boise State games, right.
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: Absolutely, And we were Bobby, We were very select and
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: aggressive in how we scheduled our game our non conference
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: games this year because we knew, you know, we got
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: to the Mountain West championship game last year and we
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: came up short. So analytically, I did a lot of
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: things in the off season on looking okay, projection wise,
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: if we would have won the Mountain West championship game
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: with our schedule last year, would that gotten us in
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: the playoffs? And we would have came up a little
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: bit short last year. So talking to the people that know, okay,
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: how do we if we get in that position again,
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: how do we get into those twelve teams? And it
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: was all down to strength to schedule. So you know,
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: we went schedule the people that we did, and you
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: know that can go two different ways, but I'm never
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: going to back down from a challenge. And you also
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: look at the brand of the Mountain the West historically
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: over the last at least fifteen years, the champion of
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: that league, you know, probably should be in contention and
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: the conversation for a seat at the table of the
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: twelve team every year.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: My preacher going up on about Thursday, would start to
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: make notes on what he wanted the sermon to be,
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: and he'd try not to repeat the sermon even though
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: it's the same ish message. He'd find different ways to
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: talk about the same message. And always for him, I
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: remember talking to him about how we prepare sermons. As
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: a head football coach, you have the same ish message,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: But when do you start working on what you're going
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: to say like before the game or if you're going
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: to have notes at halftime.
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I think a lot of that is filled throughout
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: the week, but every week we'll go into it with
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: staff input. I have a captain's meeting and leadership meeting
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: on Monday with a group of players and we talk
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: about number one. Where my mind is on the message
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: for the week starting on Monday. I get input from
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: the coach, the assistant coaches, I get input from the
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: leadership group, and then at some point you start to
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: form the complete messages of what that is really going
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: to be, what the team needs to hear, you know.
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: I try to give those talks throughout the week building
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: up to the game. I don't know that four minutes
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: before we go out on the field, if they're not
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: ready to go from a preparation standpoint at at that time,
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: it really doesn't matter what I say. So there's a
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: lot I have a team meeting every single day and
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: we talk. We talk a lot, and you know, the messaging,
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: the motivation, the situation on where we are, what's going
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: on around us, and it'll get down to our habits
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: and our preparation and so that that's ongoing. And then
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: you know, there's a lot of times, as you know,
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: you get into a situation and you have a gut
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: feeling as you're talking through those things and and you
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: and you ride with that. So there's a balance there.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: We were talking to Michael Chandler, the MM a fighter
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: and he was and it was a bit the opposite
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: of what I thought. And he was like, when I
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: go to fight, I don't want to be so pumped up.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: I want to actually be extremely calm. And he's like,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: there's a fine line, because calm you can think and feel.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Sometimes when you're way too pumped up, you're not thinking
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: because you're drilling so high. Where do you fall in
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: that pre game? Do you want your players up or
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: do you do you do you want to chill down?
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: Every everybody, every competitor is so different. My biggest challenge,
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: and you know, let's rewind a number of years ago
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: when I was a player and I wasn't very good,
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: but but this worked for me. I would almost get
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: in a state after pregame warm up before we went
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: back on on the field, I would you know, there
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: were times I would fall asleep because you're just visualizing things,
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: and and so everybody I learned at that point. Everybody's
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: so different. Some guys need that, but other guys, you know,
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: I just want them to be in their zone. And
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: if you prepare the right way. We have we have
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: game week preparation and then once we get into forty
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: eight hours before kickoff, we really ratchet it up and
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: we talk about a forty eight hour preparational what that
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: looks like, and it's the mental side of the game,
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: it's positive self talk, it's a number of those things
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: that go along with that. I'm trying to get them
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: into their rhythm, into the state of the flow, the
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: flow state of what it looks like for them to
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: be at their best. And I've learned, you know, the
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: quarterback is different than the mike linebacker, and everybody approaches
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: it the same way. But if your preparation habits aligned
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: the way that they should, then when that balls kicked off,
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: you're going to be in the flow state and ready
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: to go.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: In helmet communication. How's that been for you guys so far?
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: It's been amazing and I think, you know, I think
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: it's enhanced the game. I really do. Fortunately for us,
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: we had a trial run with it last year in
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: the bowl game, so that and the tablets on the sideline,
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: we had a little bit of an advantage going into
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: this year on what that looked like and what it
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: was what it was like for us. The thing that
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: is the challenge, you know, on when the offense comes
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: off the field and you want to sit there and
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: look at the tablet the whole time instead of coaching
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: your team and teaching your team, there's a balance on
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: making sure that it's not only looking at the tablet.
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: So there's there's been some adjustments with that. I think
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: the player to coach communication is is is a great
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: thing for college football. You can you can get really
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: creative on because you're you've got all this time until
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: the play clock hits fifteen before it shuts out, so
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: you can make a lot of in game checks, in
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: play checks before the ball snapped.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: My final three questions, Eddie coach.
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: You know it's funny now on Sundays we get to
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: hear Tom Brady, you know, commentate, and of course people
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: have different opinions on how he did or how he's doing.
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: But you know, you're knowledgeable of football, You're you know
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: a lot about it. You think you can get in
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: the booth, coach and do good at commentating on a game.
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: I would be I think I would be in a
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: position to provide a perspective that some can't. You know,
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: I would would probably be a better sideline reporter than
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: up in the box. We'd like to move around a
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: little bit more. Yeah, yeah, all the elements, all the elements.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: But I think you know, you can pick out things
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: that maybe the normal fan wouldn't be able to see,
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: and then they see that and relate to it and like,
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: oh that makes perfect sense.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Final two questions, What do you say to a kicker?
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: And I want to give you two scenarios. One that
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: kicks coming up, they just ye him. He hasn't really missed,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: he's kicked pretty well. What do you say to him
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: before he goes out or maybe it's nothing, Or what
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: do you say to a kicker that misses a big
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: kick yet he still has another quarter and a half
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: of the game left.
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: Yeah, as you know, there's so many times that a
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: game will come down to a field goal. So now
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: if the other team takes a time out, I remind
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: them that they can't. Even if they have another time out,
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: they can't take it because now it's a penalty if
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: you take back to back time out. So I just
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: remind him of those things. I want to get him
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: time and get away from him and get a couple
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: of extra practice swings in to visualize the things he
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: needs to and then I try to be ultra positive
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: on a give them a point of you've got this,
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: You've done it a million times, go be who you are.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: If they happen to miss one, Okay, you've got to
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: look at was it the snap? Was it the hold?
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: Was it the protection? Did we miss hit it? Did
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: we did we not follow through? I want to get
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: information from the kicker on on the reasons why, because
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: if we're going to put them out there to kick it,
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: I've got great, strong conviction that they're going to go
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: make it.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Last question, you've mentioned visualization a few times.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: Do you have somebody on staff that works with your
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: athletes on visualization, that therapist or somebody of any kind.
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: Yeah, we've we've got you know this, In college football,
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: the staffs have exploded, right You've got all these people
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: different work and we're a little bit different at unob
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: we're smaller staff, but very efficient and effective on how
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: we do things organizationally and structurally. I'll spend time with
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: them on Thursday and talking about that and then you know,
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: by position, coach, we do a lot of those those
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: trainings in the offseason. We brought somebody in that talked
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: to them about the performance and what that looked like.
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: And I think it's working well for us. You know,
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: there's always room for improvement by all of us, and
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: our guys have started to embrace that side of it.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: They understand how effective it can be for him as
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: a competitor.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: The bell of the ball, and I hope the bell
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: stays the bell of the ball all year long. Coach,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: we love you, We're rooting for you. Congratulations so far
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: on the early season success. I just love to see
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: you and lving on like my first page of ESPN
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: where they feel like the six big stories, like that's
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: when I'm like, that's what.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: I'm talking about.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: So we're rooting for all.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: Coach, we love you.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: I have a great rest of the day and we'll

- 1:26:29Speaker 2: Yeah, drop them for sure. I would drop them for sure.
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: New York Jets.

- 1:26:42Speaker 1: For both of them. But but listen, they beat the Titans.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: They didn't get anybody beat the Titans.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: But it's crazy like they went up though, they went
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: up the Cowboys. They lose one game and they dropped
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: six five points. What do they drop though?
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: I would think the bet here would be, if you're
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: just playing odds value, it would be the Bengals of
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: plus sixteen hundred. Yeah, yeah, because they have the realist
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: shot to win it all with those terrible odds.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they're oh and two right, yes, and they always.
- 1:27:12Speaker 7: Start with terrible three or four years in a row.

- 1:27:39Speaker 5: I'm probably gonna be in the air, so I might
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: be watching that one on the airplane, which is always fun,
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: too good, because a flight was by fast and it's
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: a long fly correct and I do like whenever like
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: the Cowboys score, you hear like the five collaps and

- 1:28:23Speaker 13: better than college. Yeah, Ravens and Cowboys. Ravens at one
- 1:28:27Speaker 13: point favorite in Dallas. H I mean that's crazy.
- 1:28:30Speaker 10: And you can make the Ravens own three would be
- 1:28:32Speaker 10: pretty cool.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: That would be cool.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: Yeah, or the Ravens they make Cowboys one and two.
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: That happened to But whatever happens happens, that's tough.
- 1:28:39Speaker 8: Kevin Well, We're going to meet stone cold and for
- 1:28:44Speaker 8: me as like a child. I was in wrestling as

- 1:28:48Speaker 8: he was the man and I think he's the reason
- 1:28:50Speaker 8: I probably drink cors Light till this day.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: So is that right?
- 1:28:53Speaker 7: Would it be weird if I brought a cors Light
- 1:28:55Speaker 7: for me and him?
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Yes? Okay, that was easy.
- 1:28:58Speaker 7: Just wanted to ask.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: Yeah, can you.

- 1:29:35Speaker 1: I if Arkassa doesn't beat Auburn by I'm just gonna
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: say this now. If they don't win the game, stop stop,
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: don't do If farcass doesn't win the game, I'm not.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna fake like I don't care for like.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Three days next week, like what I'm doing right now.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: No better, I'm gonna fake like I don't care for
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: three days.
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: You could not talk about it for three days on
- 1:29:53Speaker 8: the podcast, I guess for oneisode, absolutely no doubt.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Okay, if I'm pissed, I'll be talking about it though,
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: just for Entertamperson.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: But once you just do what I do, man, just
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: enjoy the game.
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: I can't, and whatever happens happens, I can't. But it's
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: different with college in NFL.
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: What's so different about it?
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: First of all, you have seventeen games. We have twelve.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: There are way it's just it's different. There's twelve team
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: playoffs now this year in the NFL. Fourteen. Yeah, so
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: in their division, it's just different. NFL's got a much easier.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: You can lose a couple of games, you can lose
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: four games, five games in the NFL, but you have
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: to You can't lose that in college because you have
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: like Tater.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: Tots baked Inah, it's so stupid.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: So anyway, if Farcas doesn't win I'm pissed, and I'm
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: gonnact like you don't care for lest three days I'm
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: even going to consider. I'm even gonna think in my head,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: I'm probably not gonna give them as much money, but
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: I'm still going to. But I'm still going to. So anyway,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: that's that's my thoughts.
