- 1:04Go to the IG, Double hearts and pics, give me a follow and let's
- 1:08hang out. Let's be like BFF forever, you
- 1:11and I. OK, so in this video, talk about
- 1:15how to deal with social situations in high school.
- 1:17High school can be a really stressful time for people on the
- 1:20autism spectrum. And that being said, I think
- 1:24that there are worthy tips that you could use to maybe help kind
- 1:29of gain a an upper hand in social situations where you may
- 1:32feel kind of inferior. Because, you know, autism coming
- 1:36into full force is a communication disorder.
- 1:39And autistic people will have issues with social
- 1:41communication, social anxiety and general social rules of
- 1:44engagement, like the the unwritten rules of of
- 1:47socializing, you know, and all those things that people just
- 1:50pick up naturally because they're just in tune with social
- 1:54communications. But in this video, I'm talking
- 1:56to you of ways that you can implement these strategies to
- 1:59help you become more charismatic in situations, I guess to
- 2:02achieve a better social environment all around when
- 2:07you're dealing with friends, friendships and other people in
- 2:09social circles, especially in high school.
- 2:11All right, let's get it done. OK, guys.
- 2:14So first one here is be polite. I know it sounds kind of like an
- 2:18obvious one, right? But it's it's not always obvious
- 2:20because you know, being polite and nice to people in social
- 2:25situations is because you want them to know that you're a nice
- 2:29person and you're you're a polite person.
- 2:31They they want to get to know you as soon as they can.
- 2:34First impressions always make a huge, huge impact on how people
- 2:38see you. So as nice as you can be, just
- 2:40being yourself your lovely bubbly, nice happy self and
- 2:44being polite will go a long way. Because by practising being
- 2:48polite, like etiquette and and niceness will let that other
- 2:51person know that you're a cool person, you're a nice guy,
- 2:54you're a nice girl or whatever, you're, you know, a nice person
- 2:58that they just want to hang out with.
- 3:00That is very good. And so people want to become
- 3:02friends with you because you're nice, you know?
- 3:04And that's kind of like we all have affinity towards people who
- 3:06are nice. Nobody wants to have affinity
- 3:09towards people who are horrible. Nobody does have affinities.
- 3:12People who are horrible. Unless you're horrible yourself,
- 3:14then that's weird, isn't it? It's kind of like a self hate
- 3:16thing anyway. Regardless of that bizarre
- 3:19another conversation, being polite pays off.
- 3:22Remember that. OK, so #2 is strike the interest
- 3:25now. Striking out an interest of
- 3:28matching a conversation is key, you know, in creating good
- 3:32conversation, finding people who share the same interest as you
- 3:35to strike up that conversation. So you know, I'm really into
- 3:38like, I know science and and sci-fi and stuff.
- 3:41So all the Star Wars and Star Trek and and science and I like
- 3:44skateboarding and I like music. So I would kind of find people
- 3:46who resonate towards those circles and strike up the key
- 3:49part of interest with them. So if I knew there was a a club,
- 3:54like a sci-fi club or a Star Trek club, I go to the Star Trek
- 3:56club and I bring up a conversation like, who is your
- 3:58favorite captain? If you don't say James T Kirk,
- 4:02we can't be friends. No, I know a lot of people will
- 4:04say like, oh, Picard or Pike or Anyway, that's again, this is
- 4:08the conversation for another time.
- 4:09If you think that you prefer Jean Luc Picard to captain James
- 4:14Tiberius Kirk, leaving a comment down below, let me know which
- 4:17one. If James Kirk or Jean Luc
- 4:20Picard, let me know who's your favorite captain.
- 4:22And if you don't want to talk about, don't worry, you can skip
- 4:24over this part of the video. Nice.
- 4:26OK, so striking up a conversation within that setting
- 4:30gives them the the knowledge they need to know.
- 4:32Well, this person is a nice person.
- 4:34They are into the same things as me.
- 4:36Hey, this is a good basis for a friendship.
- 4:38This is a good basis for being social with somebody and it pays
- 4:41off. This will go a heck of a long
- 4:43way, believe you me. OK, so #3 is peer pressure like
- 4:48The most important thing in situations of social groups is
- 4:51that you do not feel comfortable with the situation and you don't
- 4:55do that thing. So being aware of peer pressure
- 4:58and peer pressure is when peers, other people within that social
- 5:01circle will put pressure on you and and to do something that you
- 5:05may not want to do because they feel like it would be a good
- 5:08thing, but it may be a good thing for them, but maybe it's
- 5:10not a good thing for you. So in situations where I'm, I'm
- 5:13not an alcohol drinker, I don't drink alcohol.
- 5:15But if I was around friends and they were all like, oh, we all
- 5:17have to have a beer and we all have to drink and I'm like, no,
- 5:19I'm OK and like, no, no, you have to drink.
- 5:22That is kind of peer pressure and it's like purest form.
- 5:25And then you may be obliged to say, OK, yeah, I'll drink.
- 5:27But the consequences of doing that is immoral to yourself and
- 5:31could be destructive. You know, if you're on
- 5:32medication where you can't drink and maybe there's good reasons
- 5:35for it. So being aware that peer
- 5:37pressure could be a thing, but just never do something just
- 5:40because you want to impress your friends.
- 5:43Don't do that. You know, impressing friends
- 5:45with things to do. Peer pressure doesn't work
- 5:47because they're not real friends.
- 5:50If they are forcing you to do something you don't want to do,
- 5:52they're not really friends. What you want to do is find
- 5:54friends who accept who you are and accept what you want to do
- 5:57and don't want to do. And that is how you make lasting
- 6:00long friendships. Because I've used these tactics
- 6:03and this kind of rule of three every single time I've been in
- 6:05any social situation. But I'm not sure what to do, and
- 6:08you know, sure as heck this works.
- 6:10This works for pretty much every time I've been in a social
- 6:13situation. And it also helps root out the
- 6:16people who are not true friends and aren't good for you.
- 6:18Because as soon as they make themselves known, you like
- 6:20disassociate from them. And then things get a little bit
- 6:23happier. You can move on to people who
- 6:25actually do care, who people who actually are friends.
- 6:27People who actually really do like you.
- 6:30That is golden. Now guys.
