• 2:33
Speaker 3: Talk about keys ed keys.
• 2:36
  Speaker 6: I'm very funny.
• 2:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, and I'm gonna need you to host the show.
• 2:40
Speaker 5: So while I'm trying to get this computer things straight down. Now, Amanda,
• 2:42
Speaker 5: you've been on the show, of course, numerous times in
• 2:44
Speaker 5: the past, and you're on here, but murray, someone get
• 2:46
Speaker 5: to know you little. But give us your background.
• 2:48
Speaker 7: So I am the music directory in conductor of Westernia Symphony.
• 2:51
Speaker 7: I'm in my third year here in Charleston, and before
• 2:54
Speaker 7: that I lived in Texas and I originally I grew
• 2:57
Speaker 7: up in Illinois. I a cellist and sort of found
• 3:03
Speaker 7: conducting a little bit late later in life and now
• 3:05
Speaker 7: very happy to be making music here.
• 3:07
Speaker 5: What was it about the conducting aspect of it that
• 3:10
Speaker 5: you that you like so much?
• 3:12
Speaker 7: I sort of, you know, I mean, I was a cellist,
• 3:14
Speaker 7: and so I played in a lot of orchestras. Uh huh,
• 3:16
Speaker 7: And you know, orchestras are just really fascinating organisms. You know,
• 3:22
Speaker 7: there's eighty ninety one hundred people on stage and it
• 3:26
Speaker 7: all sounds like one thing. And I became really obsessed
• 3:29
Speaker 7: with how that happens, how the first trumpet player communicates
• 3:33
Speaker 7: with the first violin player, and how the percussionist knows
• 3:36
Speaker 7: when to come in to be right on time with
• 3:38
Speaker 7: the cellist. And the conductor is really the person responsible
• 3:40
Speaker 7: for making all of that happen right, and so I
• 3:42
Speaker 7: really became sort of obsessed with figuring out how to
• 3:45
  Speaker 7: do that.
• 3:46
Speaker 5: Do all members of an orchestra want to be a
• 3:49
  Speaker 5: conductor someday?
• 3:51
  Speaker 7: I wouldn't say all.
• 3:54
Speaker 5: Or it's kind of like actors and that they want
• 3:57
Speaker 5: to be a director at some point do that or
• 3:58
Speaker 5: they think maybe they can do it better.
• 4:00
Speaker 7: I don't mean that way, But absolutely no, I think
• 4:02
  Speaker 7: I mean, I think there's a natural curiosity about the
• 4:05
Speaker 7: job because it's a kind of an odd job. You know,
• 4:08
Speaker 7: you're a musician, but you're not supposed to make any sound.
• 4:11
Speaker 7: You know, you're supposed to just make it.
• 4:13
Speaker 3: Never of it that way.
• 4:14
Speaker 7: If you're if you're if you're making sound, something has
• 4:16
  Speaker 7: gotten horribly wrong.
• 4:17
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 4:17
  Speaker 7: Yeah, So you know you're you're you're a musician, but
• 4:20
Speaker 7: your job is really to make it possible for other
• 4:24
Speaker 7: people to do their job really well. And it's a
• 4:26
Speaker 7: very kind of mysterious thing because the physical gestures and
• 4:30
Speaker 7: all of that is are a little bit unintuitive. And
• 4:34
Speaker 7: so I think for everybody in anybody in an orchestra,
• 4:37
Speaker 7: and really anybody in the audience or anything, there's a
• 4:39
Speaker 7: natural curiosity about it. And so I think a lot
• 4:41
Speaker 7: of people want to sort of well, like, you know,
• 4:44
Speaker 7: I kind of want to try that. I want to
• 4:45
Speaker 7: see what all the fuss is like, and I want
• 4:46
Speaker 7: to do that, you know. And so I think that
• 4:48
Speaker 7: that is is very common, and that's certainly was how
• 4:50
Speaker 7: I started. I was sitting in an orchestra thinking like, oh,
• 4:52
Speaker 7: that's kind of a weird thing to be doing. I
• 4:53
Speaker 7: want to see what that's like, and I fell in
• 4:55
  Speaker 7: love with it.
• 4:56
Speaker 3: What age did did? Did you? Did you start playing music?
• 4:58
  Speaker 2: Oh?
• 4:59
Speaker 7: I started playing music really young. I was, you know,
• 5:00
Speaker 7: three or four years old, but then I started I
• 5:02
Speaker 7: didn't start conducting until I was in college.
• 5:04
Speaker 3: Were you what they called a prodigy? No, I would.
• 5:08
Speaker 3: I mean I was very lucky.
• 5:09
Speaker 7: I had great teachers in everything, but I had pretty
• 5:11
  Speaker 7: normal childhood music.
• 5:14
Speaker 3: I have a child musical family, not professionally.
• 5:18
Speaker 7: I mean my parents, they they they've been to Westernion
• 5:21
Speaker 7: Stiphony concerts several times. They make the trip from Illinois
• 5:24
Speaker 7: to see us. They are really happy about it, but
• 5:25
Speaker 7: they're not professional musicians.
• 5:26
  Speaker 8: No.
• 5:27
Speaker 5: All right, Amanda, appreciate you bringing him here with us
• 5:30
Speaker 5: today and weren't talking him a little bit more, But
• 5:32
Speaker 5: I'm going to talk specifically about some things that you
• 5:33
Speaker 5: got going on with the same players.
• 5:35
Speaker 6: Yeah, we are really excited. So Maurice is actually gonna
• 5:37
Speaker 6: be leading in the orchestration of not only the symphony
• 5:40
Speaker 6: this Saturday, but with several different local bands. So we're
• 5:43
Speaker 6: really excited. We're gonna have the Company Stores, the John
• 5:46
Speaker 6: Ingram Band, and Chill lem join on the stage. With
• 5:48
Speaker 6: the orchestra this Saturday, October twenty fifth for what we're
• 5:51
Speaker 6: calling Listen where You Live. So it's part of our
• 5:54
Speaker 6: cmm Marchitects and Engineers Pop series. It is a really
• 5:57
Speaker 6: great way to kick off this really fun which incorporates
• 6:01
Speaker 6: a lot of things that you don't traditionally think of
• 6:02
Speaker 6: when you think of classical music, things like Santa Claus
• 6:05
Speaker 6: for our Sounds of the season's concert all we having
• 6:07
Speaker 6: a magician come on on the second half of the
• 6:09
Speaker 6: season a law as well too, So things that really
• 6:12
Speaker 6: are fun. And we're really kicking off with some amazing
• 6:14
Speaker 6: tributes to local music.
• 6:15
Speaker 5: And I love the fact that, again the last time
• 6:18
Speaker 5: you're here, you talked about this whole concept that's Listen
• 6:20
Speaker 5: where you Live. Yeah, listen where you live, because again
• 6:23
Speaker 5: when you and I talked about this, there can be
• 6:26
Speaker 5: that stigma that all the symphonies stuck up and whatever.
• 6:30
Speaker 5: I mean, Number one, that's not been my experiencing time
• 6:32
Speaker 5: I've ever been there at any any performance. Okay, that's
• 6:35
Speaker 5: number one, But number two, this is really going They're
• 6:39
Speaker 5: all fun, but this is going to be a really
• 6:41
  Speaker 5: really fun concert.
• 6:42
Speaker 6: It is well, and I'm Matt Jackbert who was a
• 6:44
Speaker 6: member of the company stores and a local arrangering composer,
• 6:48
Speaker 6: has been working really really hard for the last five six,
• 6:51
Speaker 6: seven more than that months right now to get all
• 6:54
Speaker 6: of these charts together so the orchestra and these bands
• 6:56
Speaker 6: can really combine for what's probably going to be once
• 6:59
Speaker 6: in a lifetime moment on stage with the sympathy at
• 7:02
Speaker 6: the Clay Center. So it's going to be a not
• 7:04
  Speaker 6: to miss concert.
• 7:05
Speaker 5: What kind of rehearsal has to go in this, Maurice,
• 7:07
Speaker 5: I mean, in order to pull this off, because again
• 7:10
Speaker 5: you're talking about some very very vastly different styles coming together.
• 7:14
Speaker 7: Here, absolutely right, So yeah, there's a lot of rehearsal
• 7:17
Speaker 7: and also a lot of sort of before rehearsal preparation. So,
• 7:20
Speaker 7: as Amando was saying, you know, one of the both
• 7:23
Speaker 7: challenges but also really exciting things about this Weekend's project
• 7:27
Speaker 7: is that, you know, these bands don't normally play with
• 7:30
Speaker 7: an orchestra, and as an orchestra, we don't normally play
• 7:33
Speaker 7: their music, and so we have been working with Matt
• 7:36
Speaker 7: Jackford over the last yeah, almost a year now to
• 7:39
Speaker 7: basically create custom versions of all of this music so
• 7:43
Speaker 7: that we can all play it together. And so that
• 7:45
Speaker 7: has been a really big, really sort of big project,
• 7:49
Speaker 7: and he's done an amazing job with that, and so
• 7:50
Speaker 7: that goes a long way towards you know, really sort
• 7:53
Speaker 7: of literally making sure we're all on the same page
• 7:55
Speaker 7: and so that we're prepared.
• 7:57
Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, And even for different musicians outside what you
• 8:02
Speaker 5: normally do to come together, it's I mean, it's not
• 8:04
Speaker 5: always easy to have two country bands to be able
• 8:07
Speaker 5: to play together, or a country or you know, a
• 8:10
Speaker 5: gospel group or whatever. It's it's it's about the gelling
• 8:13
Speaker 5: of the styles here, I mean absolutely yeah.
• 8:15
Speaker 7: And you know, I have to say though, one of
• 8:16
Speaker 7: the things that I love so much about this orchestra,
• 8:19
Speaker 7: I mean there are many, many things, but our musicians
• 8:22
Speaker 7: are not only incredibly talented, they're incredibly flexible and incredibly curious.
• 8:27
Speaker 7: I mean, the West Unio Symphony is an orchestra full
• 8:29
Speaker 7: of musicians who you know, play Bethoven one night and.
• 8:33
Speaker 3: The Blues the next night.
• 8:34
Speaker 7: I mean, it's really a group of people that are
• 8:37
Speaker 7: so open, sort of open minded, open hearted in the
• 8:40
Speaker 7: way they make music and really love learning about all
• 8:44
Speaker 7: different types of music. And so you know, there's there
• 8:46
Speaker 7: I can't think of a better orchestra to do this project.
• 8:49
Speaker 5: Talk about because obviously with your background, you said that
• 8:52
Speaker 5: you've been Illinois, Texas all these what part of Texas.
• 8:54
Speaker 5: By the way, Dallas go Cowboys. It's right, we won yesterday.
• 8:57
  Speaker 5: We'd beat Washington.
• 8:58
  Speaker 9: That's all.
• 8:59
  Speaker 3: It's all. I don't care for you.
• 9:00
Speaker 5: You know, the one one the one season that Dallas
• 9:03
Speaker 5: won one game. We Washington in that game.
• 9:04
Speaker 3: So the night might take that.
• 9:06
  Speaker 10: Uh.
• 9:06
Speaker 5: But but talk about somebody with your background being in Charleston,
• 9:10
  Speaker 5: West Virginia.
• 9:11
Speaker 3: What was it that appeal to you about being here?
• 9:13
Speaker 7: I think the what appealed to me the most is,
• 9:17
Speaker 7: you know, the Westernia Symphony and I was, you know,
• 9:20
Speaker 7: recruited to come here for the position, and the position
• 9:24
Speaker 7: was I mean attractive for so many reasons. I think
• 9:29
Speaker 7: the West Menia Symphony is really a real gem in
• 9:32
Speaker 7: the state. And one of the things about it that
• 9:34
Speaker 7: is so unusual is that it's the sort of it's
• 9:38
Speaker 7: a bit of a sweet spot of a size of
• 9:39
Speaker 7: orchestra where we are big enough as an as an
• 9:43
Speaker 7: institution to do really interesting things and to do big
• 9:45
Speaker 7: projects and to be able to, you know, a year
• 9:47
Speaker 7: in advance plan something like this kind of concert, which
• 9:50
Speaker 7: you need, you know, a certain amount of staff support
• 9:53
Speaker 7: and a certain amount of budget and a certain amount of
• 9:54
Speaker 7: things to be able to do things like this. But
• 9:56
Speaker 7: also we are small enough that we i really feel
• 10:02
Speaker 7: sort of right, not just connected to our audience, but
• 10:07
Speaker 7: just one of the audience members, you know. I mean
• 10:09
Speaker 7: we see people at the grocery store, we see people
• 10:11
Speaker 7: at the barbershop. It really feels like we are just
• 10:14
Speaker 7: part of the fabric of life here in a way
• 10:17
Speaker 7: that sometimes it in a much bigger institution you would
• 10:21
Speaker 7: feel a lot more distance.
• 10:22
  Speaker 5: That's and that's a really good point because I mean
• 10:24
Speaker 5: the person that you're seeing playing cello one stage, you
• 10:27
Speaker 5: might see a capital market you know exactly. The week before,
• 10:29
Speaker 5: you might see a Gomart or something you know exactly.
• 10:32
Speaker 7: And so that kind of real sweet spot of sort
• 10:34
Speaker 7: of you know, big enough to do really interesting things
• 10:36
Speaker 7: at a high level, but small enough to feel like
• 10:39
Speaker 7: just one of the guys on the street is is
• 10:42
Speaker 7: That's a hard thing to find, and it's really special.
• 10:44
Speaker 3: Here talk about the Clay Center.
• 10:46
Speaker 7: The Clay Center has been i mean a wonderful partner
• 10:49
Speaker 7: of ours for many years, and you know, it's really
• 10:51
Speaker 7: amazing to get to perform every weekend in a hall
• 10:56
Speaker 7: that was built for the orchestra. You know that that
• 10:58
Speaker 7: that hall at the Clay Center was built for the orchestra.
• 11:00
Speaker 7: And there are so many orchestras around the country that
• 11:03
Speaker 7: are performing in you know, converted vaudeville theaters or you know,
• 11:07
Speaker 7: something like that, and you know, credit to them, Like,
• 11:09
Speaker 7: you should make music anywhere you can. Music is great,
• 11:11
Speaker 7: we should play it all the time. But to get
• 11:14
Speaker 7: to have a home where you know, we're in a
• 11:17
Speaker 7: hall that is built for an orchestra, that sounds like
• 11:19
Speaker 7: it's built for an orchestra, that has the acoustics of
• 11:22
Speaker 7: an orchestra, that also just even like little things like
• 11:24
Speaker 7: has the backstage set up of an orchestra, you know,
• 11:26
Speaker 7: that makes it. You know, all of those things make
• 11:28
Speaker 7: such a big difference.
• 11:29
Speaker 5: And again I think that's a good point. It was
• 11:31
Speaker 5: built for an orchestra. And obviously there are other type
• 11:34
Speaker 5: of shows. But any musician that I have ever talked
• 11:37
Speaker 5: to of any genre it's ever played the Clay Center,
• 11:39
  Speaker 5: they love it.
• 11:40
Speaker 3: I mean they just love the and.
• 11:41
Speaker 5: I'm not a musician, okay, but but but they like
• 11:44
Speaker 5: yet well at fifty five.
• 11:46
  Speaker 3: It's probably never.
• 11:48
Speaker 5: Know the interesting listeners. No, I've talked about you know,
• 11:51
Speaker 5: my family in the past. My dad is a was
• 11:54
Speaker 5: a s was a singery past, but he was an
• 11:57
Speaker 5: accomplished gospel singer. I've got my wall at home, I've
• 11:59
Speaker 5: got is music hanging up my sister can saying, I'm
• 12:02
Speaker 5: literally the only person in the entire family that does
• 12:08
Speaker 5: not play music and does not I do.
• 12:10
Speaker 3: This is what I do.
• 12:11
Speaker 2: We can fix this.
• 12:13
Speaker 6: It sounds like you need some cello lessons.
• 12:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, well we'll fix this. Aman to talk about the
• 12:19
Speaker 3: show again before we let you go.
• 12:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, of course. Saturday October twenty fifth, seven thirty pm
• 12:24
Speaker 6: at the Clay Center see the West Virginia Sympony on
• 12:26
Speaker 6: stage with the Company stores the John Ingram Band, and
• 12:29
Speaker 6: I am really excited to feature Sholem as well, one
• 12:32
Speaker 6: of our first rap and hip hop artists. I'm not
• 12:34
Speaker 6: only in the state, but to be able to be
• 12:36
Speaker 6: featured with the symphony, I'm it's going to be really
• 12:38
Speaker 6: really amazing. Tickets Bbsymphony dot org. They said it nineteen dollars,
• 12:41
Speaker 6: super super affordable for an amazing native music and just
• 12:45
Speaker 6: make sure you are tuning in for the symphony for
• 12:47
Speaker 6: everything we've got going on, not only this coming Saturday,
• 12:49
Speaker 6: but for the rest of the season. We've got some
• 12:51
Speaker 6: amazing symphonic and classical music concerts. We've got some amazing
• 12:54
Speaker 6: pops concerts coming up, some collaborations with the Ballet, which
• 12:57
Speaker 6: we also love to so genus in, don't miss us
• 13:01
  Speaker 6: all right.
• 13:01
Speaker 3: Again, It's always pleasure to have you on the show.
• 13:03
  Speaker 3: Appreciate it.

Speaker 5: the policies of the Trump administration. Big one held here
• 16:43
Speaker 5: in Charleston started at the at the bird at the

Speaker 5: Federal Courthouse, and then why did its way down to
• 16:49
Speaker 5: the Capitol. Let's hold it was one of the speakers

Speaker 5: of the event in Charleston. He joined us Now, Wes,
• 16:53
Speaker 5: good morning, welcome to the show.
• 16:55
Speaker 8: Good morning to you, and thank you for having me on.
• 16:58
Speaker 5: Thank you for being here. Estimate ballpark figure, how many
• 17:01
Speaker 5: people do you think were there on Saturday?
• 17:04
Speaker 8: Well, I disagree with the newspaper. I was standing up
• 17:08
Speaker 8: at the podium and looking out over the crowd, and
• 17:12
Speaker 8: the majority of the crowd, because of the heat, were
• 17:15
Speaker 8: under the trees in the shade, and I would say
• 17:20
Speaker 8: there was at least a thousand, if maybe eleven hundred,
• 17:25
Speaker 8: But you know, it was much more than the five
• 17:27
Speaker 8: hundred that the newspaper was indicating.
• 17:30
Speaker 5: Well, and I actually some of the CV coverage that
• 17:32
Speaker 5: I saw of that that's kind of was my takeaway too,
• 17:35
Speaker 5: that there because it was an incredibly warm day for October,
• 17:38
Speaker 5: and that there were a lot of people under the
• 17:39
  Speaker 5: trees and everything.
• 17:41
Speaker 3: Was it pretty much what you expected it to be
• 17:43
Speaker 3: as far as the crowd goes.
• 17:45
Speaker 8: Oh, yes, I even expected more because of the many
• 17:50
Speaker 8: Facebook posts and people said they were coming. But the
• 17:53
Speaker 8: reason the crowd might not have been as large as
• 17:56
Speaker 8: what it could have been was the number of rallies
• 18:00
Speaker 8: is held across the state. And I think the first
• 18:03
Speaker 8: Noteen's Day there were you know, like four or five,
• 18:07
Speaker 8: But this time there were rallies held in a lot
• 18:12
Speaker 8: of little, smaller towns where those individuals would have come
• 18:16
  Speaker 8: to Charleston.
• 18:17
Speaker 5: Yeah, I was looking and I read some of the
• 18:19
Speaker 5: ones across the state. I mean it was what I mean,
• 18:23
Speaker 5: you know, when you had these type of events West,
• 18:26
Speaker 5: you know, you're gonna have Charleston, you're gonna have Morgantown,
• 18:28
Speaker 5: You're gonna have Marginburger. But it was a lot of
• 18:30
Speaker 5: other little towns across West Virginia that kind of surprised me,
• 18:33
Speaker 5: to be honest with.
• 18:34
Speaker 8: You exactly, I was surprised too. You know, Lewisburg, Princeton, Sayetteville,
• 18:40
Speaker 8: and that's just a few from down here. Then you
• 18:42
Speaker 8: had much more further north.
• 18:45
Speaker 3: Why was this so important to you to take part?
• 18:48
Speaker 8: Well, and it's not just to me, but I think
• 18:52
Speaker 8: a lot of West Virginian's And then when you think
• 18:55
Speaker 8: about the number of rallies and people that turned out
• 18:59
Speaker 8: across the country. I think it's what we see as
• 19:05
Speaker 8: a degradation and a rooting of our country's founding principles.
• 19:10
Speaker 8: And you know, we're supposed to have three equal branches
• 19:13
Speaker 8: of government and not a government that complies and caves
• 19:17
Speaker 8: into the unconstitutional wins and demands of a president, you know,
• 19:22
Speaker 8: not of decentralized government. But it's hard to see a
• 19:26
Speaker 8: country we love descending too fascism and authoritative government. And
• 19:33
Speaker 8: thinking about it, why can't we have congressional Republicans who
• 19:37
Speaker 8: upheld the laws and the constitution, much like the Republicans
• 19:41
Speaker 8: did during the Watergate hearings.
• 19:44
Speaker 5: You're talking to Wes Soholden, who was one of those
• 19:46
Speaker 5: who took part in the No Kings rally and Charleston
• 19:49
Speaker 5: on Saturday. What did you you spoke as well? Tell
• 19:53
Speaker 5: us what you spoke about, I mean, give us the
• 19:57
Speaker 5: warning I should say.
• 19:57
Speaker 8: Well, yeah, I really spoke about our elected leaders in Congress.
• 20:04
Speaker 8: I spoke about Shelley Moore and Carol Miller or Shelley Capta.
• 20:11
Speaker 8: You learn him for a long time. One color Shelley Moore,
• 20:15
Speaker 8: And you know, one of the things that they haven't
• 20:19
Speaker 8: done and that the people are asking for is that
• 20:22
Speaker 8: they hold town hall meetings to talk about the big
• 20:26
Speaker 8: bill that they passed. And if they, you know, it
• 20:31
Speaker 8: makes the people feel they cannot defend their vote to
• 20:35
Speaker 8: raise our healthcare premiums, and we feel they're afraid to
• 20:39
Speaker 8: face the music. They refuse to meet with their constituents,
• 20:43
Speaker 8: the people they're supposed to represent and fight for, because
• 20:47
Speaker 8: they can't explain why they're wanting to cut our healthcare
• 20:52
Speaker 8: but give more of our taxes to billionaire donors. And
• 20:57
Speaker 8: you know, even Marjorie Taylor Green is telling her constituents
• 21:01
Speaker 8: in Georgia that, you know, this is wrong, and I
• 21:05
Speaker 8: have to give her credit, and she's telling the truth
• 21:08
Speaker 8: while the Republican Party is hiding behind the skirts of
• 21:11
  Speaker 8: Donald Trump.
• 21:13
Speaker 5: It is interesting and it's kind of bizarro world. What
• 21:16
Speaker 5: do you think about it, Wes, that Marjorie Taylor Green
• 21:19
Speaker 5: is speaking out against the Republican Party and being praised
• 21:22
Speaker 5: by Democrats for it.
• 21:24
Speaker 8: Well, exactly, And if Carol Mill and Shelley Capsto thought
• 21:28
Speaker 8: it was really big, they'd be on the rooftop with
• 21:31
Speaker 8: a megaphone bragging about what they did.
• 21:34
Speaker 9: But again, you know, I.
• 21:36
Speaker 8: Think most of West Virginians, as you know, especially during
• 21:41
Speaker 8: a second Trump administration, we feel we're getting sold out.
• 21:46
Speaker 8: We're getting stuck with a higher cost of living and
• 21:49
Speaker 8: the menish quality of life as the tariffs keep going up.
• 21:54
Speaker 8: And you know, if West Virginians have it bad enough,
• 21:58
Speaker 8: you know, with our kno me And it just feels
• 22:02
Speaker 8: like some of these politicians they don't care about the
• 22:06
Speaker 8: working people or even some of the poor people. They
• 22:09
Speaker 8: want to turn those into a third world country. And also,
• 22:15
Speaker 8: you know, one of the things that I mentioned thinking
• 22:17
Speaker 8: about it, Carol Miller, was a deciding vote to pass
• 22:24
Speaker 8: Trump's big beautiful bill. And when you think about what
• 22:29
Speaker 8: they're doing, they're taking food out of the mouths of
• 22:32
Speaker 8: hungry West Virginia children and giving another tax break to
• 22:35
Speaker 8: their donors. And sometimes we think of corruption as illegal,
• 22:40
Speaker 8: but corruption is really just a betrayal of the public's trust,
• 22:45
Speaker 8: and it's the abuse of their public office. And it's
• 22:49
Speaker 8: just terrible. And they cannot even descend Trump's tariffs. And
• 22:54
Speaker 8: we in West Virginia are feeling the financial burden of
• 22:58
Speaker 8: increasing costs for food, housing, and utilities.
• 23:02
Speaker 3: Talking to West Holding, I'm sorry, go ahead no, and.
• 23:06
Speaker 8: They see, as you know, the rally, and they see
• 23:11
Speaker 8: this as a threat to the broken status quo that
• 23:14
Speaker 8: varies the voices of the working people beneath their corporate sponsors.
• 23:20
Speaker 8: And you know, they want to call its antifa, like
• 23:22
Speaker 8: there's an organization. No one at these rallies was paid,
• 23:26
Speaker 8: and many people made up their own signs, went and
• 23:30
Speaker 8: at signs posted, So you know, if they want to
• 23:33
Speaker 8: call us antifa, you know, I think everyone at the
• 23:37
Speaker 8: rally felt we are anti fascists and we don't want
• 23:40
Speaker 8: the fascist form of government that if you know history,
• 23:44
Speaker 8: you know, especially one hundred years ago and the rise
• 23:47
Speaker 8: of fascist powers, we see that coming about now. That's
• 23:50
Speaker 8: what people are alarmed about. We went true democracy.
• 23:55
Speaker 3: That's one of the things that you hear a lot.
• 23:57
Speaker 5: And again we're talking to West holding Is people will say,
• 24:00
Speaker 5: I mean even I read the comments you know, on
• 24:03
Speaker 5: our coverage and the television stations and newspapers and whatever
• 24:05
Speaker 5: you're in Charleston about people being paid to be there,
• 24:11
Speaker 5: And I mean I know people that were there. I
• 24:14
Speaker 5: don't think that you got rich off what you were
• 24:16
Speaker 5: paid to be there because you weren't paid, right.
• 24:19
Speaker 8: No, I was not paid and no one was, you know,
• 24:23
Speaker 8: and you know, people, I had to give them credit,
• 24:26
Speaker 8: the small groups of people and organizations that funded this.
• 24:33
Speaker 8: You know, they had to put some money together to
• 24:36
Speaker 8: get the word out. And I don't know what all
• 24:40
Speaker 8: they had to rent, but you know, it took work
• 24:42
Speaker 8: of volunteers to put this rally together. And you know,
• 24:47
Speaker 8: thinking about patriots patriotism, you know, my forefathers were here
• 24:53
Speaker 8: on the tenth generation in West Virginia, but my forefathers
• 24:56
Speaker 8: were here in Charleston when you had Fort Lee, and
• 25:01
Speaker 8: you know, they were there at Fort Lee with Daniel Boone,
• 25:05
Speaker 8: and they fought the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, you know,
• 25:09
Speaker 8: the various wars. And I'm a decorated veteran from the
• 25:12
Speaker 8: Vietnam era. But we're all wanting to be patriots. And
• 25:16
Speaker 8: true patriotism urges us to build an even more substantial
• 25:21
Speaker 8: America or West Virginia, where the good things of life
• 25:25
Speaker 8: may be shared by more of us, where social injustice
• 25:29
Speaker 8: will not be allowed to flourish as it's being done now.
• 25:33
  Speaker 8: And I feel that there's no King's Day was a
• 25:37
Speaker 8: shot heard around the world that the people you know
• 25:40
Speaker 8: of the United States support democracy of the people, by
• 25:45
Speaker 8: the people and for the people. And I you know,
• 25:48
Speaker 8: if you sum it up to me, I feel that's
• 25:50
Speaker 8: why people took to the streets. They want the government
• 25:54
Speaker 8: of the people, for the people, by the people.

• 26:12
Speaker 5: the Devil's Advocate here. Once I heard all my social media,
• 26:15
Speaker 5: so all my social media, you know, people saying, well,
• 26:17
Speaker 5: if there were kings, this wouldn't be allowed. There are
• 26:21
Speaker 5: no kings in America. To that, and we got to

Speaker 5: close it up to that.
• 26:24
Speaker 8: You would say what I would say, of course, we
• 26:27
Speaker 8: have no kings. But we are fighting against wanna be kings.
• 26:32
Speaker 8: That's what people are fighting against. We don't want to
• 26:35
Speaker 8: wanna be king. We want to have a president who
• 26:42
Speaker 8: as our leader, who rules and appreciates the constitution and

Speaker 5: salf not I got a couple of texts here. Text
• 29:27
Speaker 5: says not much of a protest when the predicimants have
• 29:29
Speaker 5: to stay in the shade, says the text. Oh hot,
• 29:33
Speaker 5: text says Dave Florida guy here. The Democrats have gone
• 29:35
Speaker 5: so far off the deep end of the next two
• 29:38
Speaker 5: elections will make them irrelevant. After the twenty twenty eight election,
• 29:41
Speaker 5: there will be two hundred and seventy five Republican House members,
• 29:43
Speaker 5: sixty five Senate members. They are the modern day Whig
• 29:46
Speaker 5: Party who disappeared in the eighteen fifties. Text said why
• 29:50
Speaker 5: should I help three Kingsgay pay for its insurance? Nobody
• 29:54
Speaker 5: helps me, says a text texts says, I wonder if
• 30:00
Speaker 5: we could get Texas to send their National Guard to
• 30:02
Speaker 5: West Virginia to help people that's been flooded and trying
• 30:05
Speaker 5: to get in their homes before winter. Texas talked to
• 30:08
Speaker 5: a lot of active military and no King's Riley and
• 30:11
Speaker 5: they don't like being sent to cities for political reasons.
• 30:13
Speaker 5: They feel trapped in the middle. Would like to know
• 30:16
Speaker 5: how far military leaders let Trump go until enough is enough.
• 30:20
Speaker 5: This needs to be answered.
• 30:22
  Speaker 3: Texas.
• 30:23
Speaker 5: Millard's own son doesn't like what's going on in our

• 30:39
Speaker 3: is here here you doing, my friend?
• 30:40
Speaker 9: I'm doing fun. Thanks for having me.
• 30:42
  Speaker 3: All right?
• 30:42
Speaker 5: So you were listening to the interview I did with
• 30:44
Speaker 5: Wes Holden and you told me to break you in
• 30:46
Speaker 5: westco known each other for some time.
• 30:48
Speaker 9: Good man good man, your take on what he said.
• 30:52
Speaker 9: I think Trump was elected. He was, he got the
• 30:57
Speaker 9: most votes. And I'm not reading, but I'm listening to
• 31:02
  Speaker 9: Kamala Harris's book. It's just sad. It's nothing but a
• 31:07
Speaker 9: diary and she offers no solutions. Let me talk about
• 31:12
  Speaker 9: works salad.
• 31:13
Speaker 5: One of the criticisms, and I have not read it,
• 31:16
Speaker 5: of the Kamala Harris book, is that uh. And several
• 31:20
Speaker 5: people have said this on both sides, said that she
• 31:22
Speaker 5: blames everybody but herself.
• 31:24
  Speaker 9: That's right.
• 31:25
Speaker 3: That your takeaway with you.
• 31:27
Speaker 9: She has nothing to offer. She has nothing to offer.
• 31:30
Speaker 9: It was not a good choice they had. You know,
• 31:32
Speaker 9: I've got my choice of uh, and I've set them
• 31:36
Speaker 9: before on this station. My choice. You know who you knew?
• 31:42
Speaker 9: Really good? Of course, she'd never get married or never
• 31:44
Speaker 9: get elected. He's married to a man, not Boodhagete, but
• 31:48
Speaker 9: that governor, yes, him, and the Republican governor of Utah,
• 31:54
Speaker 9: and Josh Shapiro. That's your guy, Josh, that is my guy.
• 31:59
Speaker 9: And if he uh, he couldn't get nominated, not in
• 32:03
Speaker 9: this party, not the same party that's putting.
• 32:05
Speaker 5: Up that's uh, the socialist who's going to be the
• 32:10
Speaker 5: next mayor of New York.
• 32:10
Speaker 9: So, well, it's gonna be, it's gonna be. And you know,
• 32:13
Speaker 9: I was listening to Georgia Will and uh, he said,
• 32:17
Speaker 9: we need this, We need to demonstrate to people what
• 32:21
Speaker 9: it's going to be like with a socialist in charge.
• 32:25
Speaker 3: But I mean, I understand what did.
• 32:26
Speaker 5: I have a lot of respect for George Will, as
• 32:28
Speaker 5: I know you do as well, and I understand what
• 32:30
Speaker 5: he's saying. But that's kind of a big experiment to
• 32:32
Speaker 5: see if it goes wrong on the largest city in America.
• 32:36
Speaker 9: Well, you'll have people that will that live there, that
• 32:40
Speaker 9: will they'll they'll make the Florida move. They'll they'll keep there,
• 32:47
Speaker 9: They'll keep their high end apartment on Park Avenue like
• 32:50
Speaker 9: Schwartzman somebody like that. But they'll they'll plant their feet
• 32:54
Speaker 9: in a state where there's I mean, in New York,
• 32:58
Speaker 9: you pay a lot of taxes. You pay a state taxes,
• 33:02
Speaker 9: and you pay a huge amount of city taxes. And
• 33:05
Speaker 9: he wants to raise those taxes more in order to
• 33:08
Speaker 9: have free buses and and city owned grocery stores. Will
• 33:15
Speaker 9: tell yeah, yeah, and and and when you think about
• 33:18
Speaker 9: that and more, his frame of reference, are they going
• 33:22
Speaker 9: to be any Are there workers going to be any union?
• 33:24
Speaker 9: What are they going strike? I mean, it's no, it's
• 33:30
  Speaker 9: it's it's gonna. It's gonna. They're going to pay a
• 33:34
Speaker 9: big price for this.
• 33:35
Speaker 5: Did you happen to I texted you last week, but uh,
• 33:39
  Speaker 5: did you I didn't see it? Okay, that's that's okay.
• 33:42
Speaker 5: Did you happen to see that? You didn't see the
• 33:43
  Speaker 5: town hall?
• 33:44
  Speaker 10: No?
• 33:44
  Speaker 9: I wish I would.
• 33:45
  Speaker 3: It was.
• 33:45
Speaker 5: I mean, I'm sure you can find it online or
• 33:47
Speaker 5: something's probably available with their wist that it was really
• 33:49
Speaker 5: good and talking about the one uh that Cuomo did
• 33:52
Speaker 5: on News Nation, I mean, other than Bill O'Reilly.
• 33:55
  Speaker 3: I mean, and I'm sorry. I I like Bill O'Reilly.
• 33:57
Speaker 5: I actually saw him when he came to Charleston with
• 33:59
Speaker 5: Dennis meth uh several years ago. O'Reilly probably should not
• 34:04
Speaker 5: have been a part of that. I mean, I'll just say.
• 34:06
Speaker 9: Okay, so Cuoma was on it.
• 34:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, who else was there?
• 34:09
Speaker 5: Joe Manchin, Stephen A. Smith, Holman, the borders are I
• 34:15
Speaker 5: mean it was there was like ten fifteen people. There
• 34:17
Speaker 5: was a couple of podcasters one that's that's kind of
• 34:20
Speaker 5: Since Charlie Kirk's death, that's kind of risen up in
• 34:22
Speaker 5: that turning point organizable. I don't know, I don't think so, okay,
• 34:27
Speaker 5: but there were a I mean it was. But the
• 34:30
Speaker 5: problem I think with this Danny and I talked about
• 34:33
Speaker 5: this on the on the show last week is everybody had,
• 34:36
Speaker 5: even the far left and far right people that were
• 34:40
Speaker 5: on it, they were all saying, we've got to turn
• 34:42
Speaker 5: down the temperature. We've got to turn and we know this,
• 34:46
Speaker 5: but you're preaching to the proverbial choir there because the
• 34:49
Speaker 5: people that needed to hear that weren't in in that.
• 34:52
  Speaker 3: Room, you know.
• 34:54
Speaker 9: And now if they were, they blaming on the other side.
• 34:57
Speaker 3: That's and and we did see some of that.
• 34:58
Speaker 5: I mean, that was the only really heated part of
• 35:01
Speaker 5: it was between there were two young gentlemen, one with
• 35:03
Speaker 5: Attorney Point Organization and the other who was his counterpart
• 35:07
Speaker 5: but to the far left. And and that was really
• 35:11
Speaker 5: the only heated discussion that was there. I want to
• 35:13
Speaker 5: ask you get back to the no Kings thing though
• 35:15
Speaker 5: for a moment. How much of I mean, you were
• 35:18
Speaker 5: traveling this weekend, but sure you've read a lot about it,
• 35:21
Speaker 5: your take on seven million people across the country about
• 35:25
Speaker 5: depending on I mean West kind of took issue with
• 35:28
Speaker 5: the number that I guess that some organizations used somewhere
• 35:33
Speaker 5: somewhere above five hundred something like that, one thousand control.
• 35:37
Speaker 9: Well, I don't know about here because I was in Charleston.
• 35:40
Speaker 5: There were I think some published reports said five hundred.
• 35:43
Speaker 5: He said closer to eight or nine hundred.
• 35:45
Speaker 9: But well, I was in Virginia. I was at vm
• 35:49
  Speaker 9: I with my son, and I mean, it's not a
• 35:56
Speaker 9: big deal. It's it's a collective of people that are
• 36:06
Speaker 9: trying to find community and hatred. Really, those people hate Trump.
• 36:17
Speaker 9: I mean, I don't know what else, what other words,
• 36:20
Speaker 9: I don't know what other word to use. And I'm
• 36:23
Speaker 9: no fan, and neither of you. I mean, I didn't
• 36:27
  Speaker 9: vote for him.
• 36:27
Speaker 5: What do you think about Mike Johnson's statement that they
• 36:29
Speaker 5: should have called those they should have called these hate
• 36:32
Speaker 5: America rallies that they.
• 36:33
Speaker 9: Hate no because he needs to pipe down. That's something. Look,
• 36:38
Speaker 9: I'm a talk show guy. I say stuff like that,
• 36:42
Speaker 9: but he's a speaker of the House. It's not a Hey,
• 36:46
Speaker 9: I take that back. It was not a hate hate
• 36:49
Speaker 9: America rally. They don't like Donald Trump. They just don't
• 36:53
Speaker 9: like him, and he he he strokes it, he lights
• 36:59
Speaker 9: him up, be gas likes them.
• 37:00
Speaker 3: Did you see the video, the AI video that he released.
• 37:04
Speaker 5: It was him as a top gun pilot and they
• 37:08
Speaker 5: were playing danger Zone and it was it was AI
• 37:11
Speaker 5: generated of him and the plane said King Trump on
• 37:15
Speaker 5: the side, and of him dropping feces on the protesters.
• 37:20
Speaker 9: He's a draft doctor. I mean, why what president would
• 37:24
Speaker 9: do that? And what do you him putting those pictures
• 37:28
Speaker 9: up in the White House, And I mean, I guess
• 37:30
Speaker 9: this is funny to some people. Put an auto pen
• 37:33
Speaker 9: where Biden belongs. He took down General Millery's picture in
• 37:37
Speaker 9: the Pentagon. He took away of security. I mean what
• 37:42
Speaker 9: I see he makes it worse because he plays into it.
• 37:50
Speaker 5: I mean, knock out a couple of texts. Here, Texas,
• 37:52
Speaker 5: there's nothing wrong. Everything's great. Prices aren't high, good paying
• 37:55
Speaker 5: jobs are available left and right. I actually had to
• 37:56
Speaker 5: turn down three six figure jobs on my way to
• 37:59
Speaker 5: work this morning. The border's closed. Nobody does drugs anymore,
• 38:02
Speaker 5: Autism has been eliminated, diseases no longer exists, so no
• 38:05
Speaker 5: need for vaccines. Argentina getting forty billion dollars while Snap
• 38:08
Speaker 5: is going to run out of November, America is back, baby.
• 38:11
Speaker 3: A little sarcasm. Little sarcasm there.
• 38:13
Speaker 9: Well, the border is closed, he said, the borders closed.
• 38:18
Speaker 9: The borders closed. I mean, he said, what he's going
• 38:21
Speaker 9: to do there? They take up for Chicago for a minute.
• 38:27
Speaker 9: I go to Chicago, ocase and well, just my son
• 38:31
Speaker 9: Andrew and I'll take a train, we'll go up there
• 38:33
Speaker 9: and spend the night, get off and spend the day
• 38:37
Speaker 9: walk around. And most of Chicago's really beautiful and if
• 38:45
Speaker 9: you've got time to go to a Cubs game, that's
• 38:47
Speaker 9: the best deal around. But there's an area there called Inglewood,
• 38:55
Speaker 9: and that's where the problems are. And that's the problem.
• 38:59
Speaker 9: That's where it gets all. If you if you could
• 39:01
Speaker 9: ever get Mike Tobin on here from Fox, he could
• 39:05
Speaker 9: tell you it's that's most of Chicago's sign.
• 39:11
Speaker 5: Well, and I don't think that's unlike a lot of cities.
• 39:13
Speaker 5: I've got, you know, friends that live in Pittsburgh, for example,
• 39:15
Speaker 5: and there are certain The problem with Pittsburgh is the
• 39:17
Speaker 5: problems are downtown. You know where everybody is. But I
• 39:20
Speaker 5: mean it's it's no different than any any other city.
• 39:23
  Speaker 3: I mean it's not.
• 39:24
Speaker 5: I mean, there are good in Charleston and speaking of

• 40:17
  Speaker 3: I think?
• 40:17
Speaker 5: COVID revealed that the most important people in the economy
• 40:20
Speaker 5: are This country would be better off without so much
• 40:22
Speaker 5: corporate welfare I bet taxes would come down too without
• 40:25
Speaker 5: so much corporate welfare.
• 40:28
Speaker 9: What do they mean corporate welfare? What I want? I
• 40:31
Speaker 9: want a better definition of that.
• 40:33
Speaker 5: Okay, all right, texture you have an assignment, uh Tex,
• 40:36
Speaker 5: says speak Speaker of the House. Mike Johnson is a
• 40:38
Speaker 5: coward protecting a pedophile. Carol Miller and Riley Moore should
• 40:42
Speaker 5: urge Johnson to seat And I'm still not quite sure
• 40:46
Speaker 5: how to pronounce the particular congress person so they can
• 40:49
  Speaker 5: release the files.
• 40:51
Speaker 9: You know, if if they don't open this government by December,
• 40:58
Speaker 9: the sub of these for the Affordable Care Act expire,
• 41:06
Speaker 9: so the extra sub that's what they're fighting for.
• 41:10
Speaker 3: Do you do you think it's not gonna be till December?
• 41:13
Speaker 3: Do you think I don't know?
• 41:15
Speaker 9: I'm I'm gonna take a plane trip on twelfth of December,
• 41:21
Speaker 9: and I'm I'm not planning on it. I mean, I mean,
• 41:26
Speaker 9: will you tell me how this thing breaks? It's gonna
• 41:29
Speaker 9: take the only thing that would break it is if
• 41:33
Speaker 9: the Republicans evoked the nuclear option. And I don't think
• 41:38
Speaker 9: they've got the vote, in other words, to change the
• 41:41
Speaker 9: rules of the Senate. Mitch McConnell won't vote for it.
• 41:47
Speaker 9: Rand Paul won't even vote for the budget. So that's
• 41:52
  Speaker 9: two votes down.
• 41:53
Speaker 5: Yes, So an interview he was on one of the
• 41:56
Speaker 5: Sunday morning shows. I think it was on this week
• 41:58
Speaker 5: yesterday Rand Paul was. I think it's what I saw
• 41:59
  Speaker 5: him yesterday.
• 42:01
Speaker 9: Yeah, he won't even vote for the budget because of
• 42:04
Speaker 9: our debt is so high.
• 42:06
Speaker 5: Well, and like he said, and I may get the
• 42:09
Speaker 5: figures mixed up here the impasse between Republicans and Democrats.
• 42:13
Speaker 5: One wants to raise it and I forget what feary
• 42:15
Speaker 5: he used five trillion, the other wants to raise it
• 42:16
Speaker 5: eight trillion. Nobody's taking it seriously.
• 42:20
Speaker 9: Well, nobody talks about it. And our kids are going
• 42:23
Speaker 9: to pay for it. Yeah, one of my kids have
• 42:25
  Speaker 9: paid for Uh.

  Speaker 9: On what? I don't remember?
• 42:40
  Speaker 3: What Tex says.
• 42:41
Speaker 5: Corporate welfare is the government's financial assistance, subsidies, tax breaks,
