- 0:26little Community here, we are. We gather together.
- 0:30Even in our own time and space, we gather together, as we come
- 0:34before God and we hear his word, his word inspired thousands of
- 0:39years ago, captured kept canonized published and
- 0:47delivered into our hands, so that we can, as God's followers
- 0:51read this incredible word that he has shared with us so long
- 0:56ago, but nonetheless, shared Explicitly for you.
- 1:01And I to sit down and read together today.
- 1:04Ha, that's going to blow your mind, isn't it?
- 1:07So let's do just that let us crack.
- 1:10Open our Bibles, the New Living Translation to Luke chapter 6.
- 1:26One seventh day as Jesus is walking through some grain
- 1:29Fields, his disciples broke off heads of grain, rubbed off the
- 1:33husks in their hands and ate the grain.
- 1:36But some Pharisees said, why are you breaking the law by
- 1:39harvesting Grain on the Sabbath? Jesus replied, haven't you read
- 1:44in the scriptures? What David did when he and his
- 1:48companions were hungry. He went into the house of God
- 1:51and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread, that
- 1:54only the priests can eat. He also gave some to his
- 1:57companions and Jesus added, the son of man is Lord even over the
- 2:03Sabbath. On another Sabbath day.
- 2:07A man with a deformed. Right?
- 2:09Hand was in the synagogue. While Jesus was teaching the
- 2:12teachers of religious law and the Pharisees watched Jesus
- 2:15closely. If he healed, the man's hand,
- 2:18they plan to accuse him of working on the Sabbath, but
- 2:21Jesus knew their thoughts, he said to the man with the
- 2:24deformed hand come and stand in front of everyone.
- 2:28So the man came forward, then Jesus said, to his critics, I
- 2:33have a question for. You does the law permit Good
- 2:36Deeds on the Sabbath or is it a day for doing evil?
- 2:40Is this a day to save life or destroy it?
- 2:43He looked around at them one by one and then said to the man
- 2:48hold out your hand so the man held out his hand and it was
- 2:53restored at this the enemies of Jesus were wild with rage and
- 2:58began to discuss what to do with him.
- 3:01One day soon, afterward. Jesus went up on a mountain to
- 3:05pray and he prayed to God all night at Daybreak.
- 3:10He called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of
- 3:14them to be Apostles, here are their names Simon whom he named
- 3:19Peter, Andrew. Peters, brother, James, John,
- 3:24Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, son of alphaeus.
- 3:31Simon who was called the Zealot Judas, the son of James and
- 3:36Judas, Iscariot who later betrayed him.
- 3:40When they came down from the mountain, the disciples stood,
- 3:43with Jesus on a large level area, surrounded by many of his
- 3:47followers and by the crowds, there were people from all over
- 3:51Judea and from Jerusalem and from as far north as the sea
- 3:55coasts of Tyre and sit on, they had come to hear him and to be
- 3:59healed of their diseases and those troubled by evil spirits
- 4:03were healed. Everyone tried to touch him
- 4:06because healing power went out from him.
- 4:09Him and he healed everyone. Then Jesus turned to his
- 4:13disciples and said, God, blesses, you who are poor for
- 4:17the kingdom of God is yours. God, blesses, you who are hungry
- 4:22now for you will be satisfied. God, blesses.
- 4:26You who weep now, for, in due time, you will laugh, what
- 4:31blessings are wait, you, when people hate you and exclude, you
- 4:35and mock you and curse you as evil, because you follow, The
- 4:39son of man. When that happens, be happy.
- 4:43Yes. Leap for Joy for a great reward,
- 4:46awaits you in heaven. And remember their ancestors,
- 4:49treated the ancient prophets that same way.
- 4:53What? Sorrow awaits you who are rich
- 4:56for? You have only your happiness
- 4:58now. What's are overweight, you who
- 5:01have fat and prosperous. Now for a time of awful, hunger
- 5:05away to what sorrow awaits you, who laugh?
- 5:09Now for your laughing will turn to morning and sorrow.
- 5:14What sorrow? Awaits you who are praised by
- 5:16the crowds for their ancestors. Also praised false prophets.
- 5:22But to you who are willing to listen, I say love your enemies
- 5:27do good to those who hate you bless those who curse.
- 5:31You pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on One
- 5:35Cheek offer the other cheek. Also, if someone demands your
- 5:39coat off of your shirt, also, give to anyone who asks.
- 5:44And when things are taken away from you don't try to get them
- 5:47back, do to others as you would like them to do to you.
- 5:52You. If you love only those who love
- 5:54you, why should you get credit for that even Sinners?
- 5:58Love those who love them and if you do good only to those who do
- 6:02good to you, why should you get credit, even Sinners?
- 6:06Do that much? And if you lend money, only to
- 6:09those who can repay you, why should you get credit?
- 6:13Even Sinners will lend to other Sinners for a full return.
- 6:17Love your enemies, do good to them, lend to them without
- 6:21expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven
- 6:25will be very great and you will truly be acting as children of
- 6:29the most high for. He is kind to those who are
- 6:33unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just
- 6:37as your father is compassionate. Do not judge others.
- 6:42And you will not be judged, do not condemn others or it will
- 6:46all come back against you, forgive others, and you will be
- 6:51forgiven, give and you will receive your gift will return to
- 6:56you. In full press down shaken.
- 6:58Together to make room for more running over and poured into
- 7:02your lap. The amount you give will
- 7:05determine the amount you get back.
- 7:08Then Jesus gave the following. Illustration can one blind
- 7:12person? Need another, don't they both
- 7:14fall into a ditch. Students are not greater than
- 7:18their teacher, but the student who is fully trained will become
- 7:22like the teacher and why worry about a speck in your friends.
- 7:26I when you have a login, your own, how can you think of saying
- 7:30friend? Let me help you get rid of that
- 7:32Speck in your eye when you can't see past the log in your own eye
- 7:36hypocrite. Just get rid of the log in your
- 7:39own eye, then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in
- 7:43your friends. I a good tree, cannot produce,
- 7:46bad fruit and a bad tree. Cannot produce.
- 7:49Good fruit. A tree is identified by its
- 7:52fruit. Figs are never gathered from
- 7:55thornbushes and grapes are not picked from Bramble bushes, a
- 7:59good person, produces good things from the treasury of a
- 8:03good heart and an evil person. Produces evil things from the
- 8:07treasury of an evil heart. What you say, flows from what is
- 8:12in your heart. So, Why do you keep calling me?
- 8:16Lord Lord, when you don't do what I say, I will show you what
- 8:21it's like when someone comes to me listens to my teaching and
- 8:25then follows it, it is like a person, building a house who
- 8:29digs deep and lays the foundation on Solid Rock when
- 8:33the flood waters rise and break against that house, it stands
- 8:37firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn't
- 8:43obey his like a person who builds a house right on the
- 8:46ground without a foundation when the floods sweep.
- 8:50And against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.
- 9:07Jesus, thank you. Thank you for turning things
- 9:10upside down. Thank you for showing that the
- 9:13wisdom of our world fails fails in your kingdom.
- 9:19Thank you that when we are weak that when your strength is
- 9:24revealed in us, thank you that when we struggle you bless us,
- 9:31And thank you that when we just can't seem to get our act
- 9:36together, there you are loving us and providing for us.
- 9:41Thank you for your grace and your mercy and your kindness to
- 9:44us. You really are one of a kind and
- 9:50you stand on your throne but you could sit if you want.
- 9:53But you stand above all others, our Triune God and we love you
- 9:59and we praise you. It's in Jesus name that we pray.
- 10:04Amen. It's in Jesus name that we pray.
- 10:04Amen.
