- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, everyone, Welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance,
- 0:22Speaker 2: your home geek Ultimate Alliance podcast network for any and
- 0:26Speaker 2: all things Star Wars. I'm your host as always Katie,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and with me as always is Clay. Say hello, Clay, Hello.
- 0:36Speaker 2: A lot to talk about today.
- 0:38Speaker 1: We have a lot more than I thought we were.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, especially for Star Wars celebration being in two months. Yeah,
- 0:49Speaker 2: Like you know, we kept saying like, oh, yeah, the
- 0:52Speaker 2: Star Wars news gonna like dive, like gonna have nothing
- 0:57Speaker 2: in the bucket to talk about until Star Wars Celebration
- 1:00Speaker 2: and like it feels like shit kind of hit the
- 1:05Speaker 2: fan this week.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Obviously, as you can see by our title if you're here,
- 1:13Speaker 2: watching or listening, we have Felony or Figgy as our
- 1:18Speaker 2: title of choice. So that is like the last news
- 1:22Speaker 2: topic that we're going to talk about.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So just like, yes, stick with stick with us. We
- 1:28Speaker 1: have some really fun, exciting things to talk about before.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But I could I could feel an angry aura coming
- 1:38Speaker 1: from Katie's messages throughout this week when all of this
- 1:42Speaker 1: was going down, and I'm like, we have to at
- 1:45Speaker 1: least talk about it, and I think I definitely want
- 1:51Speaker 1: to hear Katie's part of this, because I will say
- 1:55Speaker 1: this before we jump onto all the other news. We
- 1:58Speaker 1: have specifically said that there can be a MCU like
- 2:06Speaker 1: structure to Star Wars. It can work, but is it needed?
- 2:12Speaker 1: That was our big thing mm. But we'll continue that
- 2:16Speaker 1: conversation after these small little news segments. So, Katie, where
- 2:21Speaker 1: do you want to jump on through first?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Well, and we're also going to talk about resistance, which
- 2:25Speaker 2: is like one of the heated Star Wars topics for people.
- 2:30Speaker 2: So that is the main, like review topic, but like
- 2:35Speaker 2: the main topic. Let's be real. It's the head of
- 2:40Speaker 2: Lucastol news and a nan Or season two trailer. But yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 2: the smaller bits of news. So the audible original Seeds
- 2:50Speaker 2: of Starlight is actually getting a sequel and it comes
- 2:53Speaker 2: out next week. It's called Haunted Starlight and it is
- 2:56Speaker 2: in fact written by George Mann.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I'm excited.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I'm excited. We both enjoyed Cam as a character. Hopefully
- 3:09Speaker 2: this means like they will eventually publish like a written
- 3:14Speaker 2: document for this book. Hopefully, because now it feels like
- 3:20Speaker 2: there's some length to give it.
- 3:21Speaker 1: That well, that was the thing that I was I
- 3:23Speaker 1: was wanting to ask you when we finally talk about this,
- 3:27Speaker 1: do you think that this will be a small novel
- 3:36Speaker 1: or do you think this will be a script book.
- 3:39Speaker 2: It would be a script book. I would say, you
- 3:42Speaker 2: think so. Yeah. I've been listening to some graphic audios
- 3:47Speaker 2: and it like Seeds of Starlight felt very similar to
- 3:52Speaker 2: the graphic audio graphic audios. They're adapting books and basically
- 3:56Speaker 2: turning them into a script. So like the difference in
- 4:00Speaker 2: audio length for the one I just listened to, it's
- 4:04Speaker 2: called Magic Shifts, and it was about eight hours versus
- 4:08Speaker 2: the audio book is about nine hours. Okay, So they
- 4:13Speaker 2: cut bits and pieces and that's what Seeds the Starlight
- 4:16Speaker 2: feels like. Is like there's some like audio descriptions that
- 4:20Speaker 2: they feel like, oh we can cut this because we're
- 4:22Speaker 2: adding in music or we're adding in background noises. And
- 4:27Speaker 2: that's what Seeds of Starlight feels like. I would say
- 4:31Speaker 2: this would be like a short audio drama script book.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:39Speaker 2: All in the game. In relation to what our like
- 4:43Speaker 2: intro said, that's interesting because I don't think Star Wars
- 4:45Speaker 2: can function like the MCU in terms of frequency slash
- 4:48Speaker 2: amounts of content. We're gonna talk about this again, We're
- 4:51Speaker 2: gonna briefly touch on it when we hit that news
- 4:55Speaker 2: segment on the game as to where we go with that.
- 5:00Speaker 2: But we're getting there. We're getting there. Yes, the next
- 5:04Speaker 2: bit of news that we have came out today and
- 5:07Speaker 2: it is from My Time to Shine, So like as
- 5:11Speaker 2: Snell likes to say, which I think he's watching this
- 5:14Speaker 2: to see what we say, but like see tear Scooper,
- 5:19Speaker 2: So again we take it with a grain of salt.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It depends on what My Time to Shine is actually
- 5:26Speaker 1: trying to scoop. They have been really good at like
- 5:35Speaker 1: like the beginnings of like the film, like the production stage,
- 5:41Speaker 1: they have been really good at getting some of those scoops.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So this is within their ballpark. But I think that
- 5:50Speaker 1: this specific film has kind of reached the stage where
- 5:55Speaker 1: My Time to Shine is not really reliable. So take
- 5:58Speaker 1: this with a grain of yes.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So they say that Sean Levy's Star WARSM will reportedly
- 6:07Speaker 2: have a significantly smaller budget than past entries. It is
- 6:12Speaker 2: described as quote more contained. The story will center Ryan
- 6:18Speaker 2: Gosling's character alongside a young male padawan. So this kind
- 6:22Speaker 2: of takes away the idea of scoundrel Ryan Gosling, but
- 6:29Speaker 2: we also said, hey, like korn Horn potentially, which is
- 6:35Speaker 2: a scoundrel but also a Jedi, so still makes sense,
- 6:39Speaker 2: and would also still put it in the range of
- 6:44Speaker 2: Ray Skywalker territory because Koran Horn is in Obi wan
- 6:48Speaker 2: Kenobi's like a ten year old.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 6:52Speaker 2: The timeline still matches up from what has been said previously.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I also don't think that a smaller budget is a
- 7:01Speaker 2: big deal. I think Sean Levy has done a lot
- 7:04Speaker 2: with a lot less than some things.
- 7:08Speaker 1: If anybody wants to know what Sean Levy can do
- 7:11Speaker 1: with a small budget, you need to watch his Netflix
- 7:15Speaker 1: movie with Ryan Reynolds and what's his name from from.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Risus Jackson.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yes, gotch It was back in twenty twenty two. Yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 1: it was. Oh shoot, I'm grabbing Adam Project, Adam Project
- 7:38Speaker 1: and a project the Adam Project to go watch the
- 7:40Speaker 1: Autumn Project. Okay, it had I believe a relatively small
- 7:46Speaker 1: budget comparatively to the other projects that he has worked
- 7:49Speaker 1: on with Ryan.
- 7:51Speaker 2: So yeah, well, this says one hundred and thirty million
- 7:56Speaker 2: dollar budget for the Adam Project, so I wouldn't even
- 7:59Speaker 2: call that a small budget. But he's done some stuff
- 8:04Speaker 2: with a small budget Night at the Museum. I feel
- 8:09Speaker 2: like Pink Panther, which I didn't even know. I think
- 8:13Speaker 2: I figured this out every time we will get his stuff.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I didn't know he directed.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I did not know he did. I didn't either. So
- 8:21Speaker 1: but yeah, Nine of the Museum is a perfect example.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I think the budget started to get bigger after every movie,
- 8:29Speaker 1: but just look at None of the Museum one like
- 8:32Speaker 1: perfect example right there. Which also means when you have
- 8:39Speaker 1: a smaller budget, you have to be more creative. You
- 8:42Speaker 1: have to think outside the box. And I think that's
- 8:46Speaker 1: what Star Wars needs, correct. It needs that outside of
- 8:51Speaker 1: the box thinking. It needs people who are going above
- 8:55Speaker 1: and beyond with the creative side of things. So I
- 8:59Speaker 1: think this works well or what we are hoping to
- 9:03Speaker 1: see as a shift and or change to quote unquote
- 9:09Speaker 1: modern Star Wars. Yes, so I think.
- 9:12Speaker 2: And the fact that it's more contained also lends itself
- 9:17Speaker 2: to a smaller budget. You're not having to CEGI more locations,
- 9:22Speaker 2: you're not having to travel with more locations. I think
- 9:26Speaker 2: it makes perfect sense. By the way I looked it up,
- 9:29Speaker 2: Nineth Museum Portly had one hundred and ten million dollar budget.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Oh my god, Yes, Pink Panther had an eighty million
- 9:36Speaker 2: dollar budget, but that was nineteen years ago.
- 9:39Speaker 1: So yeah, and I wouldn't I wouldn't put Pink Panther
- 9:44Speaker 1: in the same kind of category as not of the museum,
- 9:50Speaker 1: Star Wars Adam project like those, and I.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Would think that Pink Panther the majority of that budget
- 9:58Speaker 2: went to like se salaries for actors, so I would
- 10:04Speaker 2: still say that's a small budget filmy. So yeah, I'm
- 10:13Speaker 2: excited to see what comes of this. Hopefully we'll get
- 10:17Speaker 2: some information at Star Wars celebration on the game. Yes,
- 10:21Speaker 2: I that was my insinuation. This was years ago, so yes,
- 10:28Speaker 2: not adjusted for inflation, but still I would say, like
- 10:34Speaker 2: comparatively to today's films, still less expensive, exactly.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah. But one other thing that I want to kind
- 10:47Speaker 1: of gravitate towards in this report or scoop from My
- 10:53Speaker 1: Time to Shine says that it will center Rayan Goslin's
- 10:58Speaker 1: character alongside a young male pas. Now, this does insinuate
- 11:06Speaker 1: that he is a master and this is his padawan.
- 11:11Speaker 1: That's what the post insinuates, but that doesn't necessarily need
- 11:15Speaker 1: to be what it is.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Correct. You've had other stories in Star Wars where a
- 11:20Speaker 2: padawan ends up on their own Obi Wan for instance,
- 11:25Speaker 2: Now this is it currently a story in Star Wars,
- 11:28Speaker 2: but how he met Satene was he guarded Setine for
- 11:33Speaker 2: a year and they were introduced by Qui Gon to
- 11:36Speaker 2: each other, and then Obi Wan was left on his
- 11:39Speaker 2: own with Seatene for a year to two years. Like,
- 11:43Speaker 2: that's the story to a lot of people. So if
- 11:47Speaker 2: not unheard of that a padawan would be on a
- 11:52Speaker 2: mission by themselves and interacting with other people.
- 11:57Speaker 1: So I just wanted to point that out. I think
- 11:59Speaker 1: that'll be very interesting if that does become true, that
- 12:03Speaker 1: you know, we will have a younger actor older actor
- 12:08Speaker 1: kind of relationship in this uh in this movie which
- 12:14Speaker 1: worked really well for the Adam Project, So I think
- 12:18Speaker 1: that it will have good chemistry, uh with with what
- 12:23Speaker 1: we see eventually for Star Wars hopefully.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I it does make me kind of nervous because I
- 12:32Speaker 2: don't want it to be a retread of the Adam Project.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Like obviously you don't really have time travel in Star
- 12:38Speaker 2: Wars unless you have the world between worlds. But I
- 12:43Speaker 2: would say I don't want to retread like a similar
- 12:45Speaker 2: story which is understand coming of age. Now, could I
- 12:53Speaker 2: see a retread if we went with like an alien
- 12:56Speaker 2: character or like a female pad of one maybe sort of,
- 13:02Speaker 2: but I don't want a similar story for male adult
- 13:10Speaker 2: male kid.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I hope that Levy is smart enough to
- 13:18Speaker 1: be like, hey, yeah, I know that I got hired
- 13:21Speaker 1: because of the Adam project, but I don't want to
- 13:24Speaker 1: do the Adam project in Star Wars.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, hopefully. I feel like histories have like Deadpool
- 13:34Speaker 2: Wolverine feels original to me. You can disagree with me
- 13:39Speaker 2: if you want people in the universe, but like I feel,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I felt like that story hit all the right beats
- 13:47Speaker 2: in the MCU while kind of standing on its own.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Levy has a good track record I have. I have faith,
- 13:57Speaker 2: but hopefully our last news t doesn't destroy my faith.
- 14:05Speaker 2: All right, y'all, We're gonna hit our first ad break
- 14:08Speaker 2: and we will be right back in three two one Before.
- 14:12Speaker 1: We jump into that last news topic. We do have,
- 14:18Speaker 1: I believe one other piece of news, which is we
- 14:23Speaker 1: got a trailer. Yeah. I got a random text from
- 14:29Speaker 1: Katie saying and or season two trailer probably con footage,
- 14:34Speaker 1: And I'm thinking to myself, what con, What's going on?
- 14:39Speaker 1: Why are they just dropping this all of a sudden,
- 14:42Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh wait, this was probably a trailer
- 14:46Speaker 1: that was seen like months ago. Yes, just like how
- 14:52Speaker 1: just recently Daredevil has been showing a lot of footage
- 14:55Speaker 1: and everything else that has already been seen from other conventions.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So Katie reaction to the trailer.
- 15:09Speaker 2: One second. Sorry, Adrian was going to join us tonight
- 15:13Speaker 2: and he just messaged, so I'm responding to him.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Okay, uh, or I will tell you, uh, the three
- 15:23Speaker 1: times that I have seen this trailer, I have yet
- 15:25Speaker 1: to see it would sound I are you serious? Yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 1: I am dead serious. I still have not listened to
- 15:33Speaker 1: this trailer whatsoever. I have just watched it, and it's
- 15:37Speaker 1: mostly because, like the times that I have wanted to
- 15:39Speaker 1: look at it, I've been at work and then I
- 15:43Speaker 1: noticed that my speakers are home, like fuck, okay, you
- 15:46Speaker 1: just watch and I'm just like looking at things. I
- 15:50Speaker 1: of course think the show is going to be just
- 15:53Speaker 1: as gorgeous as season one. I think it's hitting all. Yeah.
- 16:00Speaker 2: The trailer hits a lot of high points, like I'm excited.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I'm guessing like the party mon month look is at
- 16:10Speaker 2: is like her daughter's wedding because we see that like
- 16:14Speaker 2: we see that first date happen at the end of
- 16:19Speaker 2: and our season one. So I like there's a lot
- 16:24Speaker 2: of beautiful footage, but there's also a lot of like
- 16:27Speaker 2: high action showcased. But what did you think about the
- 16:33Speaker 2: trailer being mostly like showcasing first season reactions instead of
- 16:40Speaker 2: like focusing on like a story, Like we get footage
- 16:44Speaker 2: and then we get well reviewed, Like.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Yeah, like a whole lot of quotes. Yeah. I I
- 16:53Speaker 1: almost thought, like my first initial thought when I I
- 16:57Speaker 1: was actually reading what the actual quotes were saying, because
- 17:01Speaker 1: usually when I see these things, I'm not reading anything.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm literally just watching the footage first and then I'll
- 17:06Speaker 1: watch it again to actually read these quotes. When I
- 17:09Speaker 1: actually read the quotes, I'm like, it's almost like they're
- 17:14Speaker 1: trying too hard to sell this.
- 17:18Speaker 2: That's what it kind of felt like.
- 17:20Speaker 1: And I think it's a little bit reactionary to the
- 17:23Speaker 1: fact that like the first like few episodes were like
- 17:30Speaker 1: there was no real buzz outside of the Star Wars circles.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, what I so, I watched Star Wars explained like
- 17:41Speaker 2: breakdown of the trailer and what he said about the trailer,
- 17:45Speaker 2: and I totally agree with is this feels like this
- 17:49Speaker 2: because what you don't hear when you don't listen to
- 17:53Speaker 2: this without audio is that there's another modern song attached
- 17:57Speaker 2: to this, but it's not like Star Wars y. It's
- 18:00Speaker 2: like it's, oh, gosh, I can't remember the song is
- 18:04Speaker 2: like the revolution has just begun or something is the
- 18:07Speaker 2: song that's playing, and then it's just all this footage.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It feels like they saw how the Skeleton Crew trailer went,
- 18:17Speaker 2: and we're like, oh, let's showcase action and like the
- 18:21Speaker 2: good reviews to try and lure in other people, because,
- 18:25Speaker 2: as we always say with these trailers, it really doesn't
- 18:29Speaker 2: matter to us about the trailer. I'm still gonna watch it,
- 18:33Speaker 2: Like as a Star Wars man, I'm still gonna watch
- 18:35Speaker 2: this show, whereas somebody else might need to see the
- 18:41Speaker 2: action and the reviews involved to go Okay, you know what,
- 18:44Speaker 2: let me give us a chance.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Yeah, all the game says it might be biased as
- 18:51Speaker 1: a Tony Gilory fan, but the fact that Star Wars
- 18:54Speaker 1: got a creative of his quality in the first place
- 18:57Speaker 1: still blows my mind.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and then all boils down to the Rogue one
- 19:02Speaker 2: drama with reshoots and stuff. It I want to say
- 19:08Speaker 2: Tony Gilroy was like consulting on the script or something
- 19:14Speaker 2: and then was like, you know what, like I'll step
- 19:16Speaker 2: in and do this. That's what it feels like. But
- 19:21Speaker 2: I really can't believe he stuck around after that.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and it kind of, of course, I think disappoints
- 19:29Speaker 1: a lot of people knowing that, Like even this story
- 19:33Speaker 1: kind of got altered due to the fact that Disney
- 19:36Speaker 1: was like, Hey, we're gonna cut down on the amount
- 19:39Speaker 1: of TV that we're doing, so instead of five seasons,
- 19:43Speaker 1: we're gonna do two. So like, well, that disappoints, but
- 19:50Speaker 1: there was.
- 19:50Speaker 2: There was that aspect, but also Diego, Luna and Tony
- 19:54Speaker 2: had also said I don't want to be roped into
- 19:57Speaker 2: this for ten years, like so they had said that,
- 20:01Speaker 2: but it all you don't know if they're saying that
- 20:03Speaker 2: as just like a hey, like we got told this,
- 20:07Speaker 2: so we're just dealing with it and here's an excuse.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm I mostly mean that on like the
- 20:14Speaker 1: bias side of like, hey, like first world problems for me,
- 20:17Speaker 1: I want five more years of this, But yeah, uh
- 20:23Speaker 1: I and I could see what you were saying as
- 20:26Speaker 1: far as like equating it to the skeleton crew trailer
- 20:34Speaker 1: and all of that. I totally get it. I really
- 20:41Speaker 1: hope that people saw and or after the fact, because
- 20:48Speaker 1: that's the one thing that I wish that like Lucasfilms specifically,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and Marvel Entertainment specifically or Marvel Studios would speci typically
- 21:00Speaker 1: keep track of their own shows and be like, hey,
- 21:07Speaker 1: we care about this show after it's done airing as well,
- 21:12Speaker 1: here's the latest stats, and be like, hey, like there
- 21:17Speaker 1: was a lot of buzz after the season finale of
- 21:20Speaker 1: van Or and the show has actually had this many
- 21:24Speaker 1: amount of minutes streamed or hours streamed or whatever you
- 21:28Speaker 1: want to bullshit you want to throw out there to
- 21:31Speaker 1: actually show like, hey, word got around and now it's popular,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you know, Yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Especially with the fact that they aired it on Hulu.
- 21:41Speaker 2: They aired it like they aired the opening episodes on Hulu,
- 21:44Speaker 2: Cable like et cetera.
- 21:46Speaker 1: On fex.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to know how these shows do after
- 21:51Speaker 2: the fact. And that's definitely one thing I deeply miss
- 21:57Speaker 2: about cable. We don't get this kind of we don't
- 22:01Speaker 2: get cable stats with streaming in the slightest and it sucks.
- 22:09Speaker 1: What do you.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Keeping on the trailer before we move into like the
- 22:16Speaker 2: release schedule for Ander, because that also got announced with
- 22:22Speaker 2: the trailer. I think the visuals are great. Everything looks phenomenal.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I'm very excited to see how the arcs will play
- 22:34Speaker 2: out because there's again, there's no story line up with
- 22:41Speaker 2: this trailer. There's just footage from season like.
- 22:45Speaker 1: You can you can like look at it and say like,
- 22:51Speaker 1: oh this, what's this is what's going to happen as
- 22:55Speaker 1: far as story, But that's just overall what and Or
- 22:59Speaker 1: is about, you know, yeah, and let's face it, that's
- 23:03Speaker 1: what Star Wars is about. So they're not really going
- 23:10Speaker 1: too heavy on a singular story plot. They're just saying, hey,
- 23:15Speaker 1: you like Star Wars for these reasons, here are those reasons.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, basically, So moving on to the release schedule.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I had planned out a very detailed schedule for the
- 23:32Speaker 2: next two and a half months after and Or releases.
- 23:36Speaker 2: We had to throw that out the window because straight
- 23:39Speaker 2: out of the window, we're real dizzy. Lucasfilm has chosen
- 23:45Speaker 2: to release and or It over four weeks, basically three
- 23:52Speaker 2: episodes a week.
- 23:54Speaker 1: So how do you feel about that? I don't know.
- 23:58Speaker 1: And on the game, I think I think you could
- 24:00Speaker 1: possibly help me out in the g in the geek
- 24:06Speaker 1: Verse discord. I can't remember who said it, but they're like, oh,
- 24:13Speaker 1: so we're getting an and or movie every week. Yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 1: this is fun, don't get me wrong, But why so much?
- 24:26Speaker 1: Why so fast? It's going to be a little bit
- 24:31Speaker 1: of a struggle for us days get these episodes in
- 24:39Speaker 1: by the time of recording. By the way, just Disney,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I don't know if you're you know, very you know,
- 24:46Speaker 1: knowing of my schedule, it would be nice if you're
- 24:52Speaker 1: gonna do this, release it on the Tuesday prior, like
- 24:59Speaker 1: you were doing with a Soka, right, was it was
- 25:04Speaker 1: it Tuesdays or Wednesdays?
- 25:05Speaker 2: That April a tuesday?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Is it a Tuesday? Did you do tuesdays? Yeah? Oh okay,
- 25:13Speaker 1: hold up, hold up my reverse it. Do we know
- 25:22Speaker 1: time slots should be nine pm?
- 25:25Speaker 2: Still I would imagine.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Hell, yeah, okay, never mind, Disney, we are good, good
- 25:31Speaker 1: do go. I will mostly with it. If it releases
- 25:37Speaker 1: at nine pm, I will not go to bed until
- 25:41Speaker 1: the last episode is finished. I will probably watch all
- 25:44Speaker 1: three and I will be watching a movie every single
- 25:48Speaker 1: week that I can do. Now do we know the
- 25:52Speaker 1: run times?
- 25:54Speaker 2: We don't that so I would have imagine forty five minutes.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I was just gonna say last season had a little
- 26:07Speaker 1: bit of a flux of the actual Uh, let's.
- 26:15Speaker 2: See forty two minutes, thirty eight minutes, forty three, fifty
- 26:19Speaker 2: forty six, fifty four, fifty three, fifty seven, fifty forty six,
- 26:23Speaker 2: forty six, fifty seven. So yeah, about fifty minutes an episode.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so if we look at it by let's just
- 26:33Speaker 1: say they somehow verbatim did the first three episodes of
- 26:37Speaker 1: the exact same So thirty eight plus forty two.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Well, you look at that. On the game says if
- 26:44Speaker 2: I remember correctly, a number of stories in season when
- 26:47Speaker 2: we're told in three episode arcs and people wan of
- 26:49Speaker 2: them in three episode chunks instead of weekly drops. I
- 26:52Speaker 2: don't remember this specifically all in the game, but that
- 26:56Speaker 2: was my argument too, especially because this season they have
- 27:00Speaker 2: specifically said, hey, we're covering four years, and each episode
- 27:06Speaker 2: or every three episodes is going to be a singular
- 27:10Speaker 2: arc covering that year. So we're gonna go four eight
- 27:13Speaker 2: by three A B y two aby zero or actually
- 27:18Speaker 2: I think it's three two one zero because we're picking
- 27:21Speaker 2: up right before Roque one, and they just didn't want
- 27:25Speaker 2: to deal with critiques because, like I remember Falcon and
- 27:28Speaker 2: Winter Soldier specifically, like when we were reviewing that here,
- 27:33Speaker 2: a lot of people were like, Okay, this is a
- 27:34Speaker 2: movie that they just decided to split into chunks, like
- 27:39Speaker 2: that was one of the biggest critiques for Falcon and
- 27:42Speaker 2: Winter Soldier, and they just don't want to deal with
- 27:44Speaker 2: it at this point. The other thing in the Star
- 27:47Speaker 2: Wars Explained video that I watched is that apparently the
- 27:52Speaker 2: deadline for the twenty twenty six Emmy consideration is May
- 27:56Speaker 2: thirty first, uh, which I just found out right before
- 28:03Speaker 2: watching Or before we started recording, because I watched that
- 28:06Speaker 2: right before. So that makes a lot of sense because
- 28:10Speaker 2: and Or was a great hit at the Emmys and
- 28:16Speaker 2: hit a lot of the award circuits, so makes a
- 28:20Speaker 2: lot makes sense.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I could see them trying to definitely hit that award
- 28:29Speaker 1: season very very very much. So did the math two
- 28:36Speaker 1: hours two hour blocks for every single movie, which is
- 28:44Speaker 1: technically kind of how theaters are trying to block their
- 28:49Speaker 1: movies out now two hours to two hours thirty minutes.
- 28:52Speaker 1: So I think that works perfectly. You are watching a
- 28:56Speaker 1: movie from nine pm to eleven PM, Like I could
- 29:01Speaker 1: be a little tired in the morning, but like, at
- 29:05Speaker 1: least it's not Hey, we're gonna drop the first episode
- 29:08Speaker 1: at ten pm, because then I would say, yeah, I'll
- 29:11Speaker 1: watch the first one and then watch the other two later,
- 29:15Speaker 1: whereas at nine I can do the whole thing.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be beneficial if they could move that
- 29:22Speaker 2: premiere time to eight pm, just because as a parent
- 29:27Speaker 2: of what will be eleven month old at the time,
- 29:33Speaker 2: I need to go to bed.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, now, I totally agree. The days of staying
- 29:42Speaker 1: up late like I did at the beginning of this podcast,
- 29:46Speaker 1: staying up until two am just to watch the episodes, Yeah,
- 29:50Speaker 1: never again, probably probably never again.
- 29:53Speaker 2: At least you sleep now.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, I definitely need it.
- 30:00Speaker 2: No, because, like last night, Matt and I were going
- 30:04Speaker 2: to watch an episode of Reacher, the last episode that
- 30:08Speaker 2: came out last week because Amazon dropped three episodes and
- 30:11Speaker 2: then they I think they're going back to one episode
- 30:14Speaker 2: a week. But anyways, we were gonna watch the third
- 30:16Speaker 2: Reacher episode and we hit after bedtime, we did all
- 30:21Speaker 2: the chores and everything, and we were like, I'm gonna
- 30:23Speaker 2: go to bed and realize it's seven forty fives.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Like, yep, I remember those days. That's what children will
- 30:33Speaker 1: do to you.
- 30:35Speaker 2: And like the y'all, the reason we do this podcast
- 30:39Speaker 2: at seven is because I already had an early bedtime.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I told these people, because like you have Marvel Alliance DC,
- 30:47Speaker 2: They're all doing nine pm. And I was like, hell, no,
- 30:49Speaker 2: I'm going to bed at nine, like I was an
- 30:52Speaker 2: old lady before I had a baby. Like it's a
- 30:56Speaker 2: lot worse now.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and I I have only gotten to the point
- 31:02Speaker 1: of agreeing with Katie now, Like I I try to
- 31:07Speaker 1: edit this podcast so fast after we record, because by
- 31:12Speaker 1: the time nine thirty ten o'clock hits, I am slugging.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I am dragging my feet through this house. So yeah,
- 31:22Speaker 1: that reminds me, Well, do you have anything else in
- 31:27Speaker 1: regards to and or season two trailer?
- 31:30Speaker 2: I don't think so I am excited to see if
- 31:33Speaker 2: we get a fuller trailer. Also something that I sorry,
- 31:39Speaker 2: I do have one more thing, be too. Emo is
- 31:41Speaker 2: not in this trailer? Where is he?
- 31:44Speaker 1: Is he?
- 31:44Speaker 2: Okay?
- 31:46Speaker 1: I hope so?
- 31:47Speaker 2: I hope so too. We did get K TWOSLF, though.
- 31:51Speaker 1: For a brief second it was just like really really quick. Yeah,
- 31:56Speaker 1: but that was it. Now to the meat and potatoes
- 32:02Speaker 1: of this conversation of this podcast.
- 32:05Speaker 2: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 32:09Speaker 2: be right back.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I am ready to see Katie just seething with anger
- 32:16Speaker 1: right now. And like I said, so real quick. Going
- 32:22Speaker 1: back to what All in the Game said at the
- 32:24Speaker 1: beginning of this podcast, uh saying, that's an interesting take
- 32:30Speaker 1: because I don't think Star Wars can function like the
- 32:34Speaker 1: MCU in terms of frequency and amounts of content. This
- 32:39Speaker 1: conversation is going to start the conversation about Maloney versus
- 32:45Speaker 1: Bigee for the head of Star Wars the head of Lucasfilm.
- 32:50Speaker 2: The head of Lucasfilm, not the head of Star Wars.
- 32:53Speaker 2: We have to Okay, so the whole basis for this.
- 32:58Speaker 1: On the game.
- 32:58Speaker 2: We will get to this, I promise, but I want
- 33:00Speaker 2: to give people background.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Context is key, people.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Context is key. Some site called puck I don't know
- 33:11Speaker 2: who this site is, but apparently a lot of people
- 33:13Speaker 2: think this person is reputable because even Discussing Film picked
- 33:18Speaker 2: it up and was like, hey, big news. It was
- 33:21Speaker 2: like eleven thirty at night on Monday.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Like yeah, very very odd.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Basically that Kathleen Kennedy will be stepping down at the
- 33:33Speaker 2: end of twenty twenty five, which apparently her contract was
- 33:39Speaker 2: up last year. She decided to stay on for one
- 33:42Speaker 2: more year. Is all what this thing said. You can
- 33:47Speaker 2: go find it because it's out there in the wild.
- 33:50Speaker 2: A lot of people picked it up, including I believe
- 33:53Speaker 2: the Hollywood Reporter. Oh, there we go on the game
- 33:58Speaker 2: coming in hot Thank you very much much, because I
- 34:00Speaker 2: am not well versed, even though I used to be.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Okay it well, it says PUCK is run by Matthew
- 34:08Speaker 1: Belooney bell Owning, who used to work for Hollywood Reporter.
- 34:13Speaker 1: He's got a lot of contacts in the business. So
- 34:16Speaker 1: there you go. I think that's very interesting. Didn't know that, Yes, I.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Did not know, but uh so there's your sourcing on that.
- 34:25Speaker 2: But still very weird that it came out eleven thirty
- 34:29Speaker 2: at night. It feels like when one of my friends
- 34:34Speaker 2: dropped Armie Hammer as the Batman before Robert Pattinson was
- 34:40Speaker 2: announced h and everybody just lost their mind. It feels
- 34:46Speaker 2: like one of those drops. But anyways, so a lot
- 34:49Speaker 2: of people picked this up as word of law, and
- 34:55Speaker 2: then a lot of people started saying, nah, she's not
- 34:58Speaker 2: resigning U including of course, uh CNN actually picked it
- 35:04Speaker 2: up and said CNN. Sources at Lucasfilm said, Kathleen Kennedy
- 35:09Speaker 2: is not resigning, so grains of salts people, we have
- 35:13Speaker 2: no idea what's happening. I would assume if there is
- 35:18Speaker 2: a resigning in Kathleen Kennedy's future or a retiring, I
- 35:22Speaker 2: should say it will probably be at Star Wars celebration.
- 35:28Speaker 2: And I just want to remind people because a lot
- 35:31Speaker 2: of people have forgotten this. Kathleen Kennedy leads Lucas Film.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Lucasfilm includes Indiana Jones Willow and I think there's actually
- 35:43Speaker 2: one other Lucasfilm property that I don't know off the
- 35:46Speaker 2: top of my head, other than Star Wars. This is
- 35:49Speaker 2: not the leadership of the Star Wars franchise. This is Lucasfilm.
- 35:56Speaker 1: So when this news started to hit the circuit, of
- 36:01Speaker 1: course there is now so much speculation who is going
- 36:07Speaker 1: to take over for Kathleen Kennedy. There was, like you said,
- 36:13Speaker 1: people on both sides of fence of just being like, oh,
- 36:16Speaker 1: this is for sure, Oh it's only speculation, what's gonna happen?
- 36:20Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden there's people saying, well, well, first,
- 36:25Speaker 1: before we even started to see it, Travis says to
- 36:29Speaker 1: you specifically, I'll even read it right here. Lucasfilm sits
- 36:36Speaker 1: you down, he says, Katie, Lucasfilm sits you down. You
- 36:39Speaker 1: have to choose between Dave or Figee Running Star Wars.
- 36:45Speaker 1: What do you pick? And literally an hour later there's
- 36:50Speaker 1: the disgusting film link that says many insiders believe the
- 36:55Speaker 1: best candidate for the Lucasfilm president job is Kevin Feige. Now,
- 37:00Speaker 1: you did not have the chance to reply before giving
- 37:06Speaker 1: him that answer. So before I read the other thing
- 37:12Speaker 1: about Dave Filoni, the rather shocking reaction to people saying
- 37:19Speaker 1: what might happen to him if he's the head of it,
- 37:24Speaker 1: I want to know your answer right now, for everybody
- 37:28Speaker 1: to hear you sit down at a table with Lucasfilm
- 37:32Speaker 1: and they say, Katie, we need you to make this decision.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Who are you choosing and why?
- 37:39Speaker 2: So my choice in this matter would actually be Faggy,
- 37:47Speaker 2: which I know is going to like shock a lot
- 37:50Speaker 2: of people because I hate Faggy.
- 37:56Speaker 1: But I think I am clipping that and putting that
- 37:59Speaker 1: in our preview. I am putting that on Instagram. I'm
- 38:05Speaker 1: I'm for sure grabbing, I'm grabbing that clip and not
- 38:10Speaker 1: putting any context to it. I'm just gonna You're just
- 38:13Speaker 1: gonna hear Katie say I hate Figy and it is
- 38:17Speaker 1: just gonna have the picture of our thumbnail. It's gonna
- 38:20Speaker 1: be great.
- 38:25Speaker 2: I hate Figy, but I hate Folony more. And now, okay,
- 38:32Speaker 2: with some context, because context is key, bitches. I think
- 38:40Speaker 2: Folony is skilled at telling the story he wants to tell,
- 38:46Speaker 2: but I think the story that he wants to tell
- 38:50Speaker 2: is overwhelming. The benefit of having other creatives in Star
- 38:57Speaker 2: Wars where at the very least as much as I
- 39:02Speaker 2: have my opinion is that Figy takes creatives and says, no,
- 39:09Speaker 2: you're not gonna be creative, You're gonna fill a formula.
- 39:12Speaker 2: At least he is allowing for other stories to come
- 39:18Speaker 2: to the forefront.
- 39:25Speaker 1: So All in the Game makes a really quick comment.
- 39:27Speaker 1: He says, given that the Russos are being positioned for
- 39:30Speaker 1: more responsibilities since their return at Marvel Studios, Figy to
- 39:33Speaker 1: Lucasfilm isn't far fetched, given that he seems to be
- 39:37Speaker 1: running out of MCU creative steam.
- 39:41Speaker 2: And that's what a lot of people have kind of
- 39:44Speaker 2: come forward in that Fige wants to take other stories on.
- 39:49Speaker 2: He doesn't want to be just shoe worned into Marvel
- 39:54Speaker 2: for the rest of his life.
- 39:55Speaker 1: He's bored, and he's comfortable.
- 39:57Speaker 2: He's bored and perfectly when you have worked on stories
- 40:03Speaker 2: like this. MCU has been going since two thousand and eight,
- 40:06Speaker 2: and he's been working on X Mean and other Marvel
- 40:11Speaker 2: related stories.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh yeah, I've told Abby this all the time. Like,
- 40:20Speaker 1: I get worried when I am in a job and
- 40:25Speaker 1: I start to feel too comfortable, because when you're comfortable,
- 40:31Speaker 1: you are just kinda like I said, you get a
- 40:35Speaker 1: little lazy, you let things pass, you're not so passionate
- 40:39Speaker 1: about things, and people start to notice. And I think,
- 40:44Speaker 1: more than anything, the last two years and the MCU
- 40:53Speaker 1: people have noticed. Yeah, granted, I will say this, there
- 40:58Speaker 1: are still great projects in these last two years that
- 41:01Speaker 1: I personally really really like in the MCU, Miss Marvel
- 41:05Speaker 1: being one of them, and she Hulk. There are really
- 41:11Speaker 1: great projects.
- 41:12Speaker 3: But the overall story, the overall feeling that people should
- 41:18Speaker 3: beginning from MCU projects are not how they used to be.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Yes, And like you you say, you start to get
- 41:29Speaker 2: worried when you get a little too comfortable. When I
- 41:33Speaker 2: as a software engineer when I look at the same
- 41:35Speaker 2: problem for three days in a row, I get tired
- 41:41Speaker 2: and I like I have Literally today I told my boss,
- 41:45Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm spinning in circles. I've been staring at
- 41:48Speaker 2: the same pieces of code for almost four months. I've
- 41:51Speaker 2: been working on the same problem since I got back
- 41:53Speaker 2: from maternity leave, and there keeps being like one percent
- 41:58Speaker 2: that we keep missing when this goes to the client
- 42:01Speaker 2: and it's like, okay, but this is like a different thing.
- 42:04Speaker 2: This is a different thing. I'm literally turning in circles,
- 42:08Speaker 2: and that can be something that happens, Like you don't
- 42:13Speaker 2: want to be turning in circles and repeating the same
- 42:15Speaker 2: story over and over again because you're not solving the problem.
- 42:19Speaker 2: In that case, you get tired and you start to
- 42:23Speaker 2: make mistakes. And I think that's potentially what's happened, and
- 42:28Speaker 2: that as on the game talked about at the beginning
- 42:31Speaker 2: about the frequency of content, I think they started to
- 42:35Speaker 2: make mistakes in this and they've realized, hey, we can't
- 42:38Speaker 2: turn out the same amount of content. But to say
- 42:43Speaker 2: Star Wars can't put out and animated show a year,
- 42:48Speaker 2: a live action show a year, in a movie a
- 42:51Speaker 2: year that's not unreasonable. That's not a huge amount of content.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm not asking for Star Wars to jump
- 43:01Speaker 1: out of the gate on this decision on whoever it
- 43:03Speaker 1: may be. And they say, hey, we're committed to a
- 43:07Speaker 1: ten year plan. We're gonna do six movies a year,
- 43:10Speaker 1: we're gonna do two animated shows. Like no, know your audience,
- 43:17Speaker 1: know the content that you need, and work with that.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Know what does work. This is a whole new monster
- 43:30Speaker 1: for somebody like Figee because and I say whole new
- 43:38Speaker 1: monster it is and it isn't. Figee got pushed into
- 43:44Speaker 1: a position, and I say pushed. He earned the position.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I will say this through the success of the MCU
- 43:51Speaker 1: he got to I can't remember exactly what his purpose
- 43:55Speaker 1: is with an actual Marvel comics, but he does have
- 44:02Speaker 1: say on what happens in Marvel comics. He knows those
- 44:11Speaker 1: audiences as well. He knows how beneficial they are. Now
- 44:16Speaker 1: think about that kind of knowledge going into lucasfilm, specifically
- 44:21Speaker 1: Star Wars, and knowing about the book initiatives, right, that's
- 44:27Speaker 1: a whole another thing that he can tackle and say, hey,
- 44:34Speaker 1: you're doing this book initiative and you're adding comics to it.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Why is there no animated shows for this book initiative?
- 44:41Speaker 1: Why is there no TV shows for this book initiative? Like,
- 44:44Speaker 1: that's the kind of thing that we could see from
- 44:48Speaker 1: somebody like Fikey. Yeah, that's what makes me excited for
- 44:54Speaker 1: the possibility of fiky Now the second part of this,
- 44:59Speaker 1: which I thought was very very interesting and if anybody
- 45:03Speaker 1: out there can give me context of what this might
- 45:06Speaker 1: why this might be. There is a quote here on
- 45:09Speaker 1: the Discussing Film post that says one source says Disney's
- 45:13Speaker 1: top choice is actually Dave Filoni, but another disagrees, saying
- 45:19Speaker 1: he will be killed by all sides.
- 45:25Speaker 2: He doesn't have I don't actually know what that means.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I just feel like he doesn't have what it takes
- 45:34Speaker 2: to lead a studio. He has the capability to produce
- 45:42Speaker 2: things and lead a story group for what he wants.
- 45:47Speaker 1: I think that go ahead.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Running a studio is very different, and Filoni has worked
- 45:54Speaker 2: more on the creative side versus the production side. And like,
- 46:02Speaker 2: I mean, you look at Kathleen Kennedy. Kathleen Kennedy is
- 46:08Speaker 2: and Google is listening to me. Why am I not
- 46:10Speaker 2: surprised Kalyn Kennedy was born in nineteen fifty three, so
- 46:15Speaker 2: she is seventy one years old compared to Dave Felony,
- 46:20Speaker 2: and she's been running Star Wars since twenty fourteen. And
- 46:25Speaker 2: Dave Filoni was born in nineteen seventy four, so he's
- 46:28Speaker 2: fifty years old. He is four years younger than my mom. Yeah,
- 46:33Speaker 2: like and sure he has a lot of experience, and
- 46:37Speaker 2: he's chief creative officer of Lucas Hill, but that doesn't
- 46:40Speaker 2: give him the background in determining a budget like you.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Here is my take on it, BIGI knows how to
- 46:49Speaker 1: tell a story. Baloney knows how to tell a story.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Bige knows how to run a business. Baloney to this
- 47:00Speaker 1: point has not shown any evidence on how he knows
- 47:04Speaker 1: how to run a business. Yep. And that's what I'm
- 47:08Speaker 1: afraid of. I'm not going to be this asshole that says, hey,
- 47:15Speaker 1: stay in your lane, know your place, because I think
- 47:18Speaker 1: anybody has the opportunity to learn more. So if Faloney
- 47:25Speaker 1: is chosen for a position like this, it is sink
- 47:29Speaker 1: or swim for somebody like the Loony, which I don't
- 47:34Speaker 1: think Disney can afford to do with Lucasfilm. They need
- 47:42Speaker 1: to know, Hey, this decision is going to make money.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I don't think you make the risky move. I think
- 47:49Speaker 1: you make the smart move.
- 47:52Speaker 2: No, and especially when it boils down to I mean
- 47:58Speaker 2: Faloney has thought. He has six executive producer credits, with
- 48:06Speaker 2: all of them being Star Wars related. Most of his
- 48:10Speaker 2: experience is in the art department before Star Wars and Avatar.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Because Avatar he did a lot of directing as well,
- 48:20Speaker 2: but he doesn't have that experience, and All in the
- 48:23Speaker 2: Game says right here, there's a reason why creative like
- 48:25Speaker 2: James Gunn was paired up with Peter Saffron as co
- 48:28Speaker 2: heads of DC Studios.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Absolutely as a freaking it begs the question because I
- 48:37Speaker 1: know that you and Snell were also talking about this.
- 48:41Speaker 1: There's a name that has not been said by anybody
- 48:44Speaker 1: yet that we brought up in our gua chat Felony's
- 48:49Speaker 1: best bud and crime over at Star Wars and Lucasfilm,
- 48:55Speaker 1: that being I'm Jon Favreau. Yes, I was thinking of
- 49:01Speaker 1: the last thing. Yes, I don't.
- 49:04Speaker 2: He's not gonna bite. He wants the ability to work
- 49:09Speaker 2: on other things, and he like he's done so many
- 49:16Speaker 2: cool things in the movie industry. And I feel what
- 49:20Speaker 2: I felt like was when The Mandalorian ended, he was
- 49:24Speaker 2: going to be done with Star Wars. Now, obviously he
- 49:27Speaker 2: has kind of expanded into other realms of Star Wars
- 49:31Speaker 2: with Skeleton Crew and picking up consulting on Obi Wan
- 49:36Speaker 2: Kenobi and everything, But I feel like he wants the
- 49:41Speaker 2: ability to still go consult on a Spider Man movie
- 49:47Speaker 2: or like be in Deadpool and Wolverine. Like and I'm
- 49:51Speaker 2: not saying being the lead of Lucasfilm is not going
- 49:55Speaker 2: to allow him to do those things, but being the
- 49:58Speaker 2: head of Lucasfilm is a business responsibility. Like we've said,
- 50:02Speaker 2: like nobody wants to see Superman in Star Wars as
- 50:07Speaker 2: people say it, like nobody wants to see a businessman
- 50:10Speaker 2: take on a very public Hey my face is showing
- 50:14Speaker 2: role in this kind of idea, Like it just doesn't
- 50:20Speaker 2: present well to the business people. Like, So I don't
- 50:24Speaker 2: see Fabreau biting on this. I've seen a lot of
- 50:27Speaker 2: people like, but.
- 50:29Speaker 1: What if they decide to do a co head of
- 50:33Speaker 1: Lucasfilm Fabreau?
- 50:36Speaker 2: Boloney And we're about to jump into our third ad, y'all.
- 50:41Speaker 2: We promise we'll be right back. We promise. Favreau is
- 50:44Speaker 2: not the business side of things. Favreau would be a okay, this, he.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Would be the gun. He would be the James gun
- 50:54Speaker 1: in the scenario. He would be the creative side.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Yeah, he would be more of a creative side. Uh.
- 51:00Speaker 2: He does not want to be the business person in
- 51:02Speaker 2: the arrangement I could see. Okay, yes, he could be
- 51:07Speaker 2: like the soul head. He's not going to bite on
- 51:10Speaker 2: a soul head because he has that experience at both ends.
- 51:13Speaker 2: But he doesn't want to be a businessman. He wants
- 51:17Speaker 2: he wants to continue to explore the creative side. By
- 51:21Speaker 2: the way, if because what I was leading to with
- 51:24Speaker 2: his other projects you have not seen Chef Chef was great.
- 51:29Speaker 1: I think it's probably.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Favreau's best work. Besides, I actually really enjoy Iron Man
- 51:35Speaker 2: as well. But anyways, I don't think favora Bites at
- 51:43Speaker 2: all whatsoever.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Because I haven't I haven't really given my actual opinion
- 51:48Speaker 1: on the two.
- 51:49Speaker 2: No, you have not. I was the one who jumped
- 51:51Speaker 2: on the opinions.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I if I had to choose between one or the other.
- 52:01Speaker 1: If I was in the same scenario that Snell put
- 52:05Speaker 1: Katie on, trying to decide, hey, would you you have
- 52:10Speaker 1: to choose one of them. For Lucasfilm, I am choosing figs.
- 52:18Speaker 1: And it's the reason why I said he has the
- 52:25Speaker 1: business experience to understand these little moving parts that Lucasfilm has,
- 52:35Speaker 1: not just Star Wars, but Lucasfilm specifically because we are
- 52:39Speaker 1: a Star Wars podcast. There are those little moving pieces
- 52:47Speaker 1: that haven't gotten so much attension. Again, we talked about
- 52:51Speaker 1: the High Republican Initiative. It's gotten a lot of attention,
- 52:55Speaker 1: it's gotten a lot of attention for the last five years,
- 53:00Speaker 1: but there's still things that even we are wanting, Hey
- 53:04Speaker 1: where are the animated shows? Hey, where's where's a TV show?
- 53:08Speaker 2: Hey?
- 53:09Speaker 1: Are we gonna do something in high budget movie with
- 53:12Speaker 1: High Republic Like I have no idea if Lucasfilm is
- 53:20Speaker 1: even considering that type of thing for the small screen
- 53:24Speaker 1: or the big screen. When it comes to the High
- 53:28Speaker 1: Republic with Fikey, I would know, Hey, there's consideration, Like
- 53:34Speaker 1: there's hope, you know, for that kind of thing. And
- 53:39Speaker 1: I think that you made a good point in saying
- 53:43Speaker 1: that with the MCU there is a formula, but there
- 53:50Speaker 1: are still a lot of creatives that have been throughout
- 53:54Speaker 1: the MCU and they tell different stories. It's not just
- 54:01Speaker 1: the same story. It's different stories that have the opportunity
- 54:06Speaker 1: to connect to every single movie, which they do. Of course.
- 54:11Speaker 1: With Star Wars, we had a discussion many months ago,
- 54:17Speaker 1: maybe even years ago now where we said, there does
- 54:23Speaker 1: not need to be a Star Wars endgame. There doesn't
- 54:29Speaker 1: need to be that moment where every single person in
- 54:33Speaker 1: every single Star Wars film gets at the battlefront and
- 54:40Speaker 1: charges at the enemy. There doesn't need to be that
- 54:44Speaker 1: in Star.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Wars because the point of Star Wars is that it
- 54:49Speaker 2: is a galaxy far far away that has its own
- 54:52Speaker 2: time frame, whereas Avengers in the NCU is kind of
- 54:56Speaker 2: all in this one area in the timeline. Yes, so
- 55:01Speaker 2: you can have everybody join in, but for Star Wars,
- 55:07Speaker 2: you have eighty years in the Skywalker saga alone.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Well, and that's the thing. That's the thing. I just
- 55:13Speaker 1: came up with something that I think I'm gonna get
- 55:17Speaker 1: yelled at so much by people, But I now I'm
- 55:20Speaker 1: I have to say it. What if Kevin Fague were
- 55:24Speaker 1: to redo four, five, and six.
- 55:27Speaker 2: Oh gods, listen, listen, listen, listen for this reason.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Because just like you said, he tells pockets of stories
- 55:43Speaker 1: in a linear format. Because one movie goes after the other,
- 55:46Speaker 1: goes after the other. Whatever. Technically that's what they do
- 55:50Speaker 1: with the Skywalker Soviet. It's not what I love and
- 55:53Speaker 1: it's not what I want. But you could even say
- 56:01Speaker 1: to have an anchor point for these films, these theoretical
- 56:07Speaker 1: films for Fige. We have anchor points within the timeline
- 56:13Speaker 1: of Star Wars and the Skywalker Saga, the Higher Republic era,
- 56:20Speaker 1: the sequel trilogy and all that. So Figee could even say, hey,
- 56:27Speaker 1: here's another Star Wars initiative. We know the current timeline
- 56:32Speaker 1: of Star Wars, but there's other stories out there that
- 56:36Speaker 1: aren't surrounding the Skywalkers, and we want to follow those people.
- 56:40Speaker 1: And I saw somebody bring it up today on my timeline.
- 56:47Speaker 1: There is a good opportunity. And I'm not saying Felony
- 56:52Speaker 1: has it done it either, but there's a good opportunity
- 56:56Speaker 1: for Fige to be like, there's a lot of Legends
- 56:59Speaker 1: books out there that there's nothing being done with any
- 57:03Speaker 1: of those characters, and those characters are just hanging loose.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I think it would be kind of cool to use
- 57:09Speaker 1: some of these characters. Boom, we get a Bane trilogy,
- 57:13Speaker 1: we get all of this, we get that we get
- 57:15Speaker 1: corn Horn, we get the Jedi Academy, Skywalker's Jedi Academy.
- 57:22Speaker 1: You know, all of these different things, but they are
- 57:27Speaker 1: in the timeline technically, but not dealing with the characters
- 57:34Speaker 1: that we've already gone past. That's what I want from
- 57:40Speaker 1: somebody who jumps into the seat to Kathleen Kennedy seat,
- 57:45Speaker 1: to not be afraid to be like, hey, yeah, you
- 57:49Speaker 1: want to stay within this Skywalker sandbox. Cool, we can.
- 57:53Speaker 1: It's not going to have Luke Skywalker it though. We
- 57:57Speaker 1: will know the events of the Death Star and what
- 58:00Speaker 1: they all, what happened to the galaxy. You know, Palpatine
- 58:04Speaker 1: is dead, but boom, We're gonna tell this other story.
- 58:08Speaker 1: That's what I would want to see, and I would
- 58:12Speaker 1: expect that more from Figy than I would with Filoni,
- 58:19Speaker 1: because falone has gotten comfortable with his characters that he
- 58:28Speaker 1: has told so many stories with which I still appreciate.
- 58:33Speaker 1: By the way, I'm not saying this to say that
- 58:34Speaker 1: I hate Ahsoka and I hate all this other stuff. No,
- 58:37Speaker 1: I want more Soca, I want all of that. But
- 58:41Speaker 1: it's all within the same timeline. It's all deep within
- 58:45Speaker 1: the same sandbucks that we're kind of tired of seeing
- 58:48Speaker 1: all the time, and I just don't think Filoni will
- 58:52Speaker 1: ever veer away from that if he is number one
- 58:56Speaker 1: in charge. Yeah, yep, h.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Figi all in the game, says fig You would also
- 59:03Speaker 2: be excited by the challenge of revitalizing slash rebooting the
- 59:06Speaker 2: Indiana Jones franchise as well. Completely agree, Completely agree.
- 59:14Speaker 1: And this would also again give a lot of precedents
- 59:19Speaker 1: to cry again. Although I saw the first episode of Willow,
- 59:25Speaker 1: I really enjoyed it. It would give another opportunity for
- 59:29Speaker 1: Willow to come back, so I think, because again, Fige
- 59:37Speaker 1: is a business guy. He knows these types of fans.
- 59:45Speaker 1: He has spent the last twenty something odd years in
- 59:52Speaker 1: this industry, maybe even more thirty plus years in this industry.
- 59:58Speaker 1: He's learned a thing or two. Correct with baloney, I'm
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: not gonna say that he hasn't learned a thing or two.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: But I think he likes a specific thing and he
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: chases that one specific thing. Yeah, he is not going
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: to deviate and.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I think and I think that's something that showcases in
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: his portfolio versus Figee. Figee has a lot of experience
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: doing things and like he because I mean he like
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: he's worked on You Got Mail, for instance, like Geez Louise. Yeah,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: so there's a lot of potential with getting him involved.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: They could do really good things for stars. I'm not
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I hate FIGI for sure, but I think he could
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: do a lot of good for Star Wars if he's
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: the only option I've got.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: So yeah, a lot of exciting things coming before celebration,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: a lot of exciting things happening after we will see.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: So here, here's the thing. Do you think Kathleen makes
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the announcement herself in celebration or since all of this
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: news is hit, he sits on it until the end
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: of the year.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: I would think you would announce it celebration, okay, because
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: I mean it's still two months at this point, so.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I I would be Okay, guys, we've I want to
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: set something straight right now. We have given Kathleen Kennedy
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: the criticism she deserves. I'm gonna go ahead and say it,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: the criticism she deserves. We've also championed for Kathleen Kennedy
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: on this show.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: She has produced an incredible amount of films and worked
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: on so many good projects. Like you want to say, oh,
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: she's never worked on a gosh daring thing. She worked
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: on Indiana Jones for crying out loud, she worked on
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: the original Indiana Jones films. Like, She's produced some very
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: good films. So you cannot just sit here and go, oh, well,
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: Disney just wanted to be like the Forces female. Now
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: she's worked incredibly hard to get where she is.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: She was good for the job, but now we need
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: somebody better. That's just the way it has to be.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I say that because if I was Kathleen, I would
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: be the pettiest bitch. It's like, Oh, everybody's gonna talk
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: about who's gonna replace me. Well, you ain't gonna know
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: until the day I leave, sitting on it, and i'd
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: be sitting on it i the two week's notice comes out.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: I don't think so, because I think if she really
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: is gonna retire at the end of the year, I
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: think they want some transfer time and they want to
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: be able to go, hey, you know, I've earned my retirement.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: But you know who's coming in, Who's coming in, Who's
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: coming in, Figgy's coming in or whatever.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Like you think they make the announcement at celebration for who's.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Yes, Because if you pick Figy for instance, Figy's gonna
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: need hangover time too, so you have to have that
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: transition time.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: See. I wasn't expecting that I could understand the announcement
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: of the retirement at Celebrate, but the actual announcement of like, hey,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: look who's taking my place? I wouldn't be expecting that.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: No, I I really think you don't, like, she's not
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: gonna announce she's retiring without having the replacement they're ready
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: to announce, because you want the replacement to be able
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: to talk about what's coming next. You want them to
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: be able to talk about Sean Levy's movie. You don't
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: want somebody who's like, oh, yeah, I'm retiring, but you
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: know what, here's what's coming next, Like I'm gonna be
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: sitting on my ass on the beach drinking of martini.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Well I mean, but also scary thought, but something that
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: could very well happen. So people would just be prepared.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: There is a good possibility that everything that is in
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: production currently will not necessarily be in production and or
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: actually release with the new Lucas with a new head yep.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Correct. So the only thing guaranteed at this point is
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Manto and Grogu.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Yes, I will say, if Figi is the guy, we
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: can almost one hundred percent say Sean Lovey's movie is
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: also coming out.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Yes, I would say Sean Lovey's movie. And I really
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: just don't know how you don't hit James Mangold with
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: the pasco like the man has nothing else committed to
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: at the moment. Let him make his damn movie, like
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: obviously nothing's guaranteed. And I'm saying it, but I really
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: don't know how you don't say, yeah, write your movie,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: James Mangold, like.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I agree? I agree? Is there anything else that we
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: want to add on this conversation of Baloney or Viking?
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I don't think so I need to go wash my mouth.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Well, guys, I will say before we jump into our
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: resistance review, tell us what you think about the decision
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: for Kathleen Kennedy to retire and who do you think
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: should be the replacement. Of course, we do have our
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Gmail as well as the Star Wars Alliance hotline eight
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: three zero five three eight eight text us, and we
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: will read the test messages next week on our show live.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: Make sure to put some sort of nickname and or
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Twitter handle, blue Sky handle, threads handle, whatever that you
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: may use so we can address you in that manner
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: when we talk about it on the show. Of course,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: the gmail is Star Wars Alliance at gmail dot com.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: That's s T A R W R S L A
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: L L I A n C E at gmail dot com.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: No A in Wars very important. Don't forget it all, right, guys.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Resistance Resistance season one.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: Yes, this came out in twenty eighteen. It takes place
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: before the Force awakens season one. Season two takes place
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: during the Last Jedi. So, but we're gonna be talking
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: about the twenty episodes that encompassed season one. We're not
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: really gonna go like where this has been out for
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: so we're not gonna like hit like super details. We're
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: just gonna I think it'll.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Be Yeah, I think it'll be an overall thought process
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: type of thing, especially since when we made the pivot
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: to Resistance season one. Being on this episode, I was like, Okay,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I can binge season one in three days again, And
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: then today was like, I didn't watch any of season one?
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: What do I do? And then I watched Star Wars
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Explains playlist of the entire season at two point zero
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: speed and only got through the first seven episodes, so.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: You did better than me. Do we just need to
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: cut here and go, okay, that was our main topic.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: We'll talk about resistance later.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I mean we could we we we could we have
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: an hour. This is the longest episode that we've had
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: in quite some time, actually, so we could totally do
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: resistance on another day.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Welcome to the episode, y'all.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: We could pivot, We're I was gonna say we could pivot.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: I feel like we're a little bit committed, but not really.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: It's really up to you, dude.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: I didn't watch a single episode. I looked at the calendar,
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: I looked at the brain up and I was like, what,
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: what was I supposed to do? Again? And we said
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: we were going to do Resistance what Sunday.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Sunday Sunday, which, by the way, guys, I guess this
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: is more so for the live people because I don't
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: know if I'm going to cut this out yet. Uh.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: When this episode goes live on our podcast feeds, make
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: sure to go listen to our Mask of Fear Yes,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: which is also going to be on Thursday, February twenty seventh.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: The book Fucking Slaps, y'all. It's great, it's fantastic book.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: I said, we just pivot.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: All right, we'll pivot. We will do Resistance on another night.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: I want to thank everybody who is out there lurking
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: and listening to us right now on YouTube on the game.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Thank you so much for being here and giving some
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: feedback and some opinions here on the chat. Of course,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: you could always find me at fanboy Clay on Twitter.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Well not really Twitter, not anymore. I've kind of just
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: stopped using it. Go check me out on blue Sky.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna be pivoting a lot of my content there.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: And I say content, I use blue Sky for work.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I follow a lot of the comic book creators and
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: publishers that I work with at my job, so I
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: just talk about them all day sometimes. So if you
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: are into that, go follow me on Blue Sky, and
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: also go follow the other podcast that I have a
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: host of here at the GUA, Ranger Alliance. We have
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: recently pivoted to a weekly release of Ranger Alliance. We
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: are now covering the Super Sentai, a new series just
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: came out two weeks ago. And I want to think
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: everyone who has gone on this journey with us, because
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: in year twenty twenty four. I looked at the numbers.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: We had a average download of maybe thirty five to
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: forty people. The moment we shifted to the Super Sentai,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: those numbers jumped by twenty by thirty. We are now
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: looking at about sixty to sixty five downloads per week

- 1:13:00Speaker 1: like May, June, July, so I might be able to
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: make it right before then, which is that last weekend
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: of April. So I might. No promises, but I might
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: try it.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: We'll see, We'll see what happens, because who knows, I
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: might as well. But you know, with that, y'all, I'm
