St. John Mary Vianney was a man of great penance and sacrifice. He asked the Blessed Sacrament during a Benediction that he'd accept all the sacrifices that He would send him for the conversion of his parish.

The first reading of the mass tells us of the concept of the Jubilee in Israel. With the Jubilee we should recall we have received gifts from the Lord and that we need to share that with the others.
