- 0:25[SPEAKER_04]: I hurled this beginning, I hurled your end, I hurried, I hurried, I hurried, I hurried.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to comics versus does the MC universe by the lorehounds your guides to the Marvel multiverse saga.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: I am Alicia the girl who knows in what drawer you can find the iodine.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_07]: And clear out any clouds from prior films because I'm sure and I'm here to see this is how galactis is done.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_07]: Let's get into it in the rest of our thoughts and feelings about fantastic for
- 1:09[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to start with our spoiler-free hot takes and some production info.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: And then we'll give you a spoiler warning before we go all spoilers on the table from the film.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: And once we do that, we're gonna be talking spoilers for all the Marvel movies, TV shows, comics, it's all in the table.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: We wanna be free to speculate and make connections.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: Jean-Jouan is set up the official plot premise of this one.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_07]: Absolutely.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_07]: All right, so set against the vibrant backdrop of the 1960s inspired, retro futuristic world, Marvel Studios, the Fantastic Four, first steps introduces Marvel's first family.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_07]: Reed Richards is a fantastic play by Pedro Pascal,
- 1:59[SPEAKER_07]: I'm played by Joseph Quinn and Ben Graham the thing played by Iban Moss Buccarot
- 2:06[SPEAKER_07]: as they face their most daunting challenge yet.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_07]: Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus, Ralph Inson, and his igniting heroed Silver Surfer played by Julia Gordon.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_07]: And if Galactus is planned to devour the entire planet, and everyone on it weren't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: I love Michael Giacino did the score again.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's like Michael Giacino score.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so this is a reboot of Swordsaw, obviously.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: Now, this is the fantastic four version that's in the MCU.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: And there's a lot of baggage going into this.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: We've kind of lightly discussed on prior episodes.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_03]: But what would you say this stakes were going into this film?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_07]: Um, wow, I think it was certainly very, very important for the MCU, but for different reasons because I'm not one of those MCU is is over type of person.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_07]: I don't view previous films and TV shows as being problematic and saying there's a backlash
- 3:33[SPEAKER_07]: the story, these characters are important, they had to get it right in my view in order for people to have confidence that they can get other stuff right.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_07]: And the other stuff, particularly that I'm talking about, you know, that we haven't seen yet.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_07]: X-Men by this crew of, by this production company for my X-Men for the MC, right, not the Fox version, so these, you know, going forward into Marvel's, you know, future, doomsday and all of these things.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_07]: they had to get this movie right, they had to get the tone right to get the characters right for anyone to have confidence that they can do well with what's coming up.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_07]: The stakes were not as high to me as Superman was for DC because there is new.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_03]: That new new universe, yeah.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_07]: And I think we don't say this built-in conceit that the Rusos can do it well, right amongst many Marvel fans.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_07]: So they're comfortable with the Rusos because they know what the Rusos have done.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_07]: and they're eager to see what they do.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_07]: Fantastic four plays off of that, but for hardcore and semi-hardcore comic book fans, this story, this had to get it right because the other iterations did not.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_07]: And if you can't get fantastic four right, I shut it to think what you're
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_03]: Because the fantastic four, they're called the first family in the comics.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_03]: They, they're not the first characters, which were actually like Neymor and a different version of the human torch and some others.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_03]: But they marked a change in the comics to, you know, when we talk about Marvel having that more relatable flawed heroes, they were considered,
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: they were considered the progenitors of, you know, creating these more morally ambiguous people.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_03]: Even though they are still, I haven't always loved them for the same reason.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: I said that I struggle with superman that they seem too wholesome sometimes.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_03]: So I definitely went into this, like,
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: Anything's got to be better than what I've gotten so far, you know, and I used to say to someone who's watched a lot of the 90s cartoon recently, too.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: And also that that film from the 90s, you know, it's, it's camp.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's like so bad.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's good again.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yes, that failed TV pilot one, which by the way, the characters from that film.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_03]: They, you know, this never made it onto the air.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_03]: It was supposed to be deleted, but somebody got a copy and distributed it, and now you can watch it on YouTube.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_03]: The actors from it played cameo throughout this film.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I had no idea.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: Like as the newscasters, or yeah.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_03]: I had no idea.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_03]: No idea.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was, I think that's a nice touch.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I, you know, a going in, I wasn't overly invested in it, and I'll say that we will get into our hot takes in moment.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'll say that I gave it an eight out of ten.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, that's fair.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_03]: So solid.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not as enthusiastic about it as I was about Superman and Thunderbolts, but I think it was a good film that did a lot of things right.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_03]: You remember the whole casting room or circus leading us to the official announcement?
- 7:36[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_03]: There was like, everyone in the world is going to play Re, of course everyone.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: Of course everyone wanted John Cassinsky and Emily Blunt because there were real life couples and people just got obsessed with that casting for some reason.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_03]: But I was I was pro-pandagely personally.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_03]: I want to pin badge.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_03]: Really?
- 7:56[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think he's got that perfect nerdy hunk energy, you know?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I could have, like, Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Um, Mila Cunis, like, a Jodie Comer, everyone was talked about for Sue.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I was invested in the Galactus casting that there was a lot of talk about Howvea Bardem who I wanted or Antonio Banderas, which I didn't see.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think though,
- 8:24[SPEAKER_03]: Ultimately, I'm quite happy with where they landed with the cast.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_03]: What about?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_07]: Very happy with the cast with the casting.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_07]: I can't imagine anyone else in these roles currently.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, I'm very happy with the casting.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I wonder, so we have seen, like we saw the Dr. John Krasinski version of Reed Richards is in universe 838 that we saw in Dr.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: Strange in the multiverse of Venice.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: And so this is universe 828, which is, they chose that because it's Jack Kirby's birthday, just for me being the one of the progenitors of particularly Galactus, but a lot of these characters.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder, like so, okay, so this is universe eight to eight.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_03]: Six one six is the sacred timeline is the main universe.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think there are versions of these characters alive?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe they didn't go to space or yet or who knows or where alive in the past in six one six?
- 9:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I have to believe so.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_07]: I would think it's the same cast.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_03]: If you were to put together a crew of these four from the casting rumors or fan castings, who would you choose to be a different cast?
- 9:57[SPEAKER_07]: Oh gosh, Lord, that's a tough question.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_07]: Goodness gracious Alicia, who would I choose?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_07]: Jodi Corner for a su, I think works, yeah, she's definitely, um, I'm going Penn Badgerly for read, like I said, I like Krasinski's read, okay, okay, the brief, you know, seeing with them, I like them.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, so I can do that.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I think awesome, but there would have made a great journey.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah,
- 10:40[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know man, I don't, yeah, because the cast that we got was just so good, like Joseph Quinn is so good in this to me, like he, he really, no, no, really brought to life that character, you know.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_03]: And we didn't think of the chemistry between the family.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_07]: I think they hit it, I think they got it right, as a reader of the books of the comics,
- 11:10[SPEAKER_07]: You know, it wasn't, you can tell that these are people who care about each other and who make fun of each other but not in a malicious way, you know, there's nothing malicious about it.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_07]: It's just, you know, family dynamics and I got to sense that these are people who have known each other for, you know, many, many, many, many years and they know what makes
- 11:40[SPEAKER_07]: like read and and and sue, you know, can read each other in a room.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_07]: Then and and Johnny, they know what how to get on each other's nerves.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_07]: You know, it just works for me.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_07]: It just works for me.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: So what would you're rating out of 10 b and y?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_03]: Spoiler for you, of course.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_07]: I gave it a, I was to an 8.5.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_07]: I give it an 8.5 and I wouldn't be mad if anyone gave it a 9 because I think, um, I think personally, you, you already know where I'm going to go with this, but I alluded to it in our opening, we had a fucking proper galactus, you know, we got a proper on-screen presence of galactus.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_07]: and that in it by itself that is points on points on points on points.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_07]: You know, they did it right and the scale of the threat was properly conveyed.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_07]: And I love that.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, I called it the Galactus Introduction Bone Chilling.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_03]: It was really his voice also and just like how he looms over it and you just like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like he's like space God zombie, yeah, right, just really good stuff.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and the destroying of the planet and the way that
- 13:24[SPEAKER_03]: The, yeah, it is kind of realistic the way it's like bored into and he has this machine plugged into him.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get more into Galactus in a bit.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_07]: But yeah.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_07]: Was that see more from the show.
- 13:42[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 13:42[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was like, I, I especially liked the first half of the movie, okay.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_03]: I thought that the opening scene was pitch perfect.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: I was a bit surprised that it opened that way in very glad, you know, that it opened in a more intimate scene.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: I thought that the origin exposition was handled in an engaging way.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I also, I loved the Galactus introduction and then there's a very memorable scene that follows that which we'll talk about.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I, I like the Johnny Banner that was working for me.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think they really pulled that off.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think the highlights.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_03]: For me, in this movie was Vanessa Kirby, a suit storm.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_06]: Totally agree.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_03]: She, you know, normally I'm like, let's not do another story about where it's all about the woman being a mother.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_03]: But no, this was a really well-done story about motherhood that showed all the many faces of motherhood.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: So I think her big speech didn't do it for me, but there's a quote at the end that sticks with me.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I mean, like a speech either.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, it's a speech either, right?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_03]: The quote is the end of the table.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_07]: Small potatoes, small potatoes.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, most importantly, the human chemistry works.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_03]: Although, yeah, my quibbles are definitely with some pot deep tales and things in the back half.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_03]: I do think, oh, we're all just strong film.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_03]: I
- 15:15[SPEAKER_03]: would have loved more depth and specificity, certain times, but, or if they turned up the family banter even more, I think that's what I miss from the back half.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that's fair.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I know some folks were not as welcoming to the family aspect of of how the movie started.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_07]: I was totally into it.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_07]: I agree.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_07]: I'll totally answer it.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so I okay.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the question.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_03]: I'd like a don't want to compare fantastic for in Superman head to head.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_03]: Oh boy.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_03]: Why do you?
- 15:57[SPEAKER_03]: Why do you compare?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: um, they release them so close to each other.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, do we think that they cannibalized each other in terms of film-going audience or do we think that they created a sort of barbon-himer situation where everyone's talking about superhero movies because of the one-two punch.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to say, yeah, Whitney Joe on the Academy of Deathracer,
- 16:23[SPEAKER_03]: server is the one who said I feel like they support each other a bit by doing the one-two punch and reviving interest in the genre.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_07]: I don't necessarily disagree with that.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_07]: I think that's a good observation.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_07]: The only thing I would say is that what kind of has born out was that prior to the films being released, I was fearful of fantastic for suffering from Superman's release because that's two very different movies.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_07]: Um, and I feel like in speaking with other folks that that actually did happen, like Superman was about that action, right?
- 17:12[SPEAKER_07]: Um, at the core of that movie was about the business, the business of the fist.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: Well, actually, I prefer because of, I felt like it got deeper and more, well, like I said, I thought that the second half of this one lacked the depth and specificity of that one basically.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_07]: No, I totally agree, but I think a lot of people were, let me not say, I think a lot of people, but a lot of the folks that I spoke to were particularly,
- 17:45[SPEAKER_07]: saying that they wish they had more of the action in the FF movie when as they compared it to the Superman movie.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_07]: And I felt like that was always going to be the case because the FF movie, you know, they're setting up, you know, this family dynamic between these four people and how and so and five people actually right at the end.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_07]: So, this family dynamic and how that's going to be portrayed and how it's going to flow through the next phase of Marvel movies.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_07]: Right, Superman is Superman.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_07]: And I think a lot of people were happy with Superman because they got the Bam Wow Power throughout the entire film on top of all the other great stuff that the film had.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_07]: And they felt they didn't get the BAM while a pile from the FF on top of all the great stuff that the film had.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_03]: I guess, I mean, for me, I thought there was a lot of action, and there was one scene in particular that I thought was very well, in a way, I guess it does count as action, anyway, we'll get there.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: But I think what I'm liked about Superman though, is that it surprised me more?
- 19:19[SPEAKER_03]: And it feels like Marvel's just overall been playing things safer these days.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: And in this, you know, they like moments kind of in there, but they kind of, I think they should have used moment more.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think so too.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I think they, they should have let their freak flag fly a bit more.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_07]: That's fair.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_07]: That's a fair assessment.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_07]: I think they could have got a little bit weirder.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_07]: they can definitely kind of got a little bit weirder because the fantastic for is about a lot of weird shit.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, their villains are all super weird.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, their villains were named drop to make out the anime.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_03]: Well, sorry.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: That's this.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's finished that sentence.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, okay, well before I veer into spoilers, let's talk with the production.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_03]: So this is the first entry in phase six.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: And we're going to be talking about what is coming in phase six at the end of this episode.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_03]: So all time stamped that, but stick around for that.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_03]: And phase six is the final phase in the multiverse saga, so yeah, we'll talk about what that means at the end, too.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_03]: The director was Matt Chackman, who is best known for Wanda Vision.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_03]: And the writers were...
- 20:35[SPEAKER_03]: So Josh Friedman and Eric Pearson, Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer and Katwood, so we see that there is a lot of people putting their fingers in the pie.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_03]: The biggest names here, Josh Friedman is the creator of foundation.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: And also I was on the Sarah Connor Chronicles, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, no pierce through these are all things he wrote for.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_03]: Eric Pearson, Bestnome for Thunderbolts, Black Widow, Thor Ragnarac, and also a lot of non-marvel stuff.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_03]: And then
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like, I mean, on the one hand, the other writers are less experienced and I want to think that they are kind of being prepped and trained, but it feels like the more experienced writers kind of came in and like read it their work a little bit.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think it's solid.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_03]: I just think I don't think they work together is my is what I think just based on what I learned about the production process.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: that the more experienced writers came in and said, okay, we're polishing this off.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, the cinematography was just Hall who did Chivalier, Ghost in the Show, Hot Fuzz, et cetera, and I think that popped.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_07]: It was well done.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think the real star though I think is the production designer and it was I was delighted to find out it was Kazra for a honey who we talked about with Loki.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: He did the Loki production design and that 60s retro futurism is really a specialty if it's like that's.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_07]: Well, they worked because the sets the pieces were gorgeous.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and the costumes were done by Alexander Burn who did Thor Avengers Guardians at the galaxy and anyway, I think yeah, they did the costumes like the fantastic four suits we saw two versions in the film both coming accurate, but neither of them looked weird or goofy.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_07]: I think they just, yeah, there's nothing about the look of the film that I would take back and say, ah, do this again.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_07]: No, do this better.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_07]: There was nothing of that sort for me.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, just visually, yeah, all of that was very well done.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_03]: Um, it was a fairly short 114 minutes or less than two hours.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_03]: It sounds like they ended up cutting a lot like that moment stuff.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_03]: There was John Malkovich, was in the first trailer, and he was going to play Red Ghost, who has super intelligent apes, and we saw, in the opening scene, we see the, yeah, glimps, but not, he's not in it, but we see glimps of the fight that would have been, the apes, yeah.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't disagree with cutting that though, because I understand,
- 23:44[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think they should have cut less moment, but I understand why they're like, okay, we don't want it to be over stuff.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just take this character out for now.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I wanted more moment.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_07]: I wanted more moment.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_07]: I wanted to see, you know, more of him, and the denzians of subterranean.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly, and I wanted to see that dating show that we got teased with this, so yeah, okay, well we'll talk about Ben Grimm's dating life.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_03]: Um, the budget was over 200 million, you know, when this is a Marvel, uh, Tuesday, you know, theatrical production.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: And the box office, as of, we're recording on August 5th, it's currently 370 million worldwide.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_03]: So people are like, are saying, ooh, dropped off a lot in the second week.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_03]: But I think people are being,
- 24:47[SPEAKER_03]: This is not becoming a billion dollar picture, I think that's clear, but people are being hyperbolic.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's just because people like to be hyperbolic.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_07]: No reason.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_03]: Saying it failed or flopped, it's doing fine.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's been out two weeks, yeah.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_07]: How many films are grossing over a billion dollars?
- 25:11[SPEAKER_07]: If that's the litmus, if the litmus tests, how many films are grossing that currently?
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, that's the thing is it's just people got used to that and things are not the same as they used to be not the same
- 25:25[SPEAKER_07]: It's not the same.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I know that some films still do it, like Deadpool, Wolverine, but do we want, it seems like the only ones to do it now are children's films and or especially if they are just rehashing, you know, like just certain in the memories, just certain in the memories.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, I think, yeah, I'm this kind of thing.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Deadpool's room was a lot of fun.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_03]: I laughed more during that one, I'll say, but this is a more coherent cohesive.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that was just meant to be a rom, a sad story.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_03]: And this was actually an earnest film, I'll say.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_07]: If there's one person in the world that says, that would Wolverine, we don't need to see that anymore.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_03]: That person would be me.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_03]: So you can't wait for the secret.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, the first person was going to be me.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, kill him in secret war.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_07]: Please.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_07]: Please.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_07]: Can we please?
- 26:38[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, dead.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_07]: A reason for mystery, please.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the, so the cinema score for a fantastic for was a minus, same as Superman.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_03]: The rotten tomatoes was 86% from critics, 92% from audiences, Metacritic 65 from critics, 6.7 from audiences, let about 3.6.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_03]: So, it seems like,
- 27:04[SPEAKER_03]: people in general are I know that a lot of people like this better than Superman or think this is the best super I've seen I literally saw someone today say this is the best superhero film of the year oh wow okay so you know I don't agree but yeah I like that I like the third best right yeah I'm yeah I'm putting sorry cap four is we know we're not even
- 27:33[SPEAKER_07]: with come out of each other.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: We can jail with Isaiah.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_07]: No, not with Isaiah, no, instead of Isaiah.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of like, yes, yes.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, what is your
- 28:03[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think it's high.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_07]: No, no, I don't think it's a one.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean Because it Well, yeah, I mean spoilers, but yeah, oh, yeah, sorry I mean, I think yeah
- 28:30[SPEAKER_03]: I might give it a one just for certain moments in parallel, especially children are involved, but that's true, yes, yes, that is true.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_07]: I won't quibble with the one.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_03]: But I think otherwise, it's a very family-friendly film.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_03]: I would say it's an even more family-friendly film than to remain for sure.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_07]: I agree, yeah, definitely.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, well, that's enough preamble.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_03]: Should we take your break and we're tripping over a spoiler?
- 29:04[SPEAKER_03]: So thank you for coming back.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_03]: And we're going to rip off the spoiler right now.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_03]: See you in a sec.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, and we are back and so we're going to be talking about one character element of the bot at the time, so this we're not doing a recap of the film, but just talking about its parts, starting with the family itself.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_03]: So how did that opening scene play for you personally?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_03]: And what was your theater experience in general?
- 29:54[SPEAKER_07]: Um, yeah, I didn't have, it wasn't, I went in the middle of the day, so it wasn't super packed, um, it was, it was great, uh, the people were into it, you know, I could hear some, at some moments like oozing eyes, you know, coming from various corners of the theater, um, so that was cool.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_07]: I, I, I, I got, I got emotionally invested right from their jump.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_07]: And in this film, you know, I got emotionally invested right from the job, you know, and family dinner, you know, just came in, I was here for all of that.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_03]: The fact that it opened that scene where they're in the bathroom together, like, the instant tomato couple can be and she's looking for the eyedine.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_03]: And, or sorry, he's looking for the eyedine.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was just so I thought a pleasant shock rolled through me when I was like oh, this is how they're opening the film I'm really I was really pleasantly surprised by that and I suppose you know Matt Chapman won the vision I should
- 31:13[SPEAKER_03]: I shouldn't be so surprised, but I think that that was really smart, not to just do the typical like, and these are the fantastic four.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_03]: Here's their life history, you know, to start with something more grounding first.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and really introduce.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_07]: people to the characters, you know?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_07]: And how they're going to, you know, play out of what their relationship with each other would play out for the future.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_07]: Because these people are super important for each other.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 31:44[SPEAKER_07]: Like, and this is what is going to be going forward.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_07]: Like, we really take care of, we care about everyone, we care about us.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_07]: And we really
- 31:57[SPEAKER_07]: Right, while taking care of everyone else, they're taking care of the entire planet, right?
- 32:02[SPEAKER_07]: Because they're the only heroes on the outworld.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_07]: They're the only super powered people on that world.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_07]: As far as we know, but they take the time to center their family.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_07]: You know, in order to be able to deal with everything that they have to deal with, and I think that was a super cool message.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there was a line, I forget what it was.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_03]: But there was a line in there that made me wonder if there were other super power in people in the world, but certainly not that they seem to be the only one standing up to collect this.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I guess not on their level at least.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_03]: So okay, speaking of the super powered people.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_03]: So their their story is, you know, they go into space and they get hit by cosmic rays and it.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: morphs, you know, gives them these powers.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: We read Richards, Pedro Pascal, who is, that was probably the most controversial casting choice.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_03]: But I think everyone got on board after they saw his first clip of him speaking in the North Atlantic.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_03]: Mid Atlantic accent.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but yeah, so that's Mr.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_03]: Fantastic, not to be confused with Mr.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_03]: Terrific.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_03]: Um, do you think that his stretchy powers were used well?
- 33:13[SPEAKER_07]: At the end, yeah, you know, I wish we could have got more of it, but I thought the scenes where they did display.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_07]: They was just one moment that I didn't like, I think he was stretching up onto a roof.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_07]: And I didn't like that imagery, but everything else was really well done.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_07]: Especially when Galactus put his hands on him.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like for the CGI, they poured the most of the money in time into, into, uh, Galactus in the Silver Surfer, which makes sense.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_03]: That's what Johnny also.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_03]: Johnny looks pretty good.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes Reed's stretchiness had some moments, sometimes the baby had some moments.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I guess I, I don't know, it's just like a weird thing that I'm just not in destroyed cheap powers.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I was so glad they changed Kamala Khan.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_03]: I just, not, I don't know.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_07]: What have you got against Roga Band people?
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I guess if I would have loved if they had because in the comics and the cartoons and stuff, like read literature, it's like, we'll turn into rubber boats sometimes, or, you know, crazy shit.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I, you know, I could have used more of that, but I understand.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: Way to sleep.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_03]: Major Pascal is a boat.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_03]: Is it a rest of the family riding inside?
- 34:50[SPEAKER_07]: I think it's stretchy powers, but they didn't do that in this movie.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_07]: That's not clear.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_07]: There's no rubber boots in this movie.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe there's no stretch.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_07]: What is no rubber boots?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, he just, he stretches in, in a very, like,
- 35:10[SPEAKER_03]: Logically a very grounded stretch it is like there were some moments where I wasn't even I was like Oh, I guess he stretched, but I didn't even realize it at first because it was just doing normal things Which I guess is not you know, that's that sounds it should be but
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that the movie sold well that he's the smartest man in the world?
- 35:44[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_07]: And not when he was trying to solve equations, but when he was talking to Sue.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_07]: And she's like, I know you've already thought about these things.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_07]: I know that you've already worked these things.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_07]: I'll don't lie to me.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_07]: It's in those moments that I felt the full weight of his intellect because his wife is telling him, I already know because I know how your brain works.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_07]: So you've already thought about all of these possibilities and I was like, yeah, that's right.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I was excited to see some of the things he was in talking about in the trailer.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, did not make it into the film where it seemed like there was more of a plot that might have tied in like the multiverse more and it seems like they pulled back from that, which I found a bit of that.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, yeah.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_03]: We got a little bit of that.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_07]: Not a lot.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_03]: Not a lot.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_03]: But I was, I was like, oh, I wish I had leaned into that more, but it is what it is it is.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_07]: I'm, you know, I'm kind of glad that they left some things on said.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's obviously, maybe they're saving it also for doomsday or.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_07]: Because he acknowledges the existence of parallel universes.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_03]: For sure.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_07]: In the movie.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_07]: So it's not like if he's unaware
- 37:26[SPEAKER_03]: But it's also, I feel like because people were like, oh, we're sick of the multiverse because I became a meme to say that.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like they're listening to that too much and pulling back.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_03]: You know what?
- 37:37[SPEAKER_03]: This is the multiverse saga.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: This is the multiverse is a huge thing in the comics.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_03]: And it's implied that at the end of this saga, we're not gonna get so much multiverse anymore.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, if you're gonna do it now, at least do it right.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_07]: Like you said, lean into the weird.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_07]: lean into it don't run from it lean into it.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'll say something I think they did do well with Reed is said I've noticed so even though I'm not a huge fantastic four lover I end up breeding a good number of their comics because every other character crosses over with them and one thing I always noticed about Reed is he's a very guilt-ridden character and I think that came through here where he feels guilty for everything that's happened.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_07]: If everything that happened to
- 38:23[SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, so I would have been, did not struggle as much as we normally see him struggle with with the nature of the fact that he's the one who physically changed.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I don't know if that's for the better or for the worse.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe it's for the bad.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_03]: I guess I get sick of it sometimes.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_07]: I like that.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_07]: I like that he, you can tell that it bothered him.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_07]: you know the interactions with other people outside of the family and with the ribbing that he got from Johnny.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_07]: So it's not as if he's working around like whatever, whatever, you can tell that it bothered him.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_07]: But you can also tell that part of him has, you know, is trying, he's trying to move on from that.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_07]: And it's a struggle.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_07]: It's a struggle for him.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_07]: And when he tells Reed, you know, stop doing this.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_07]: I'm leaving yourself.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_07]: You know, it's like also, you know, for him as well, I took it like this is what it is.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_07]: And I got to have to move on.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_07]: I have to have to live, you know?
- 39:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I really liked the casting here.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_03]: I love Emma Mossbacher.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's
- 39:48[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, this is actually his second MCU role now that the Punisher is officially canon.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_03]: Because he played Microw in the Punisher for anyone who doesn't know who in the comics.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_03]: I have to my crook.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_03]: Please, he is replaced by RAM page who I am.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_03]: I have my tin foil had theory, the RAM page from Ironharts.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_03]: Not really dead, but we'll come back in the Punisher's special.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's not going to happen, but I'm going to hold my breath anyway.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_07]: All right, we'll see.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_07]: I won't rain on the parade.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm no longer holding my breath though for micro to come back because obviously, yeah, we've got who have to be so person.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, if Doom can look like Tony Stark then.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: What did you think of this CGI for the thing?
- 40:44[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I thought it was great.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_07]: I thought it was great.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_07]: I laughed out loud when he started to grow a beard.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was going to ask you about that, would you?
- 40:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_07]: I laughed out loud.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_07]: I laughed.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, wait.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_07]: Come on.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to beard.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_03]: But I have so many questions from this.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_07]: I chuckle.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because the point of growing a beard is supposed to be that he would have to do less maintenance.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_03]: But it showed like his rocking is growing all over his face.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_03]: So that was a well groomed beard.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, a lot of electricity to group it.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, man.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_03]: He's just going for a look.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_07]: It worked.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_07]: As far as rock people's concerned, I mean, the dude was rocking the rocks.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_07]: Let go.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_03]: What did you think about the handling of his signature catchphrase?
- 41:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's a clover in time.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_07]: I love that he didn't want to say it.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_03]: It is a stupid catchphrase.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_03]: Do you need 12?
- 41:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I love that he didn't want to say it.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_07]: Like I don't know what I'm saying, don't do it.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_07]: I really appreciate it, but because I don't want him to say it.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_03]: I love that it's like the cartoons gave him that catchphrase and he's like, oh, no, everyone thinks that's a real thing.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_07]: You're like, don't say it.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_07]: I don't want you to say it, then.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_03]: But meanwhile, Johnny has no problem being like, flame on.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: Right, right, right.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I would have liked, and I know this is just the first introduction.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_03]: And so I really hope that it's not like that, we're going to lose this whole cast in secret wars without getting a chance to get to know them better.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because I want more of his backstory as a World War II fighter pilot.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's very important.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_03]: He's a very important Jewish character in Marvel, lore, and this is the first time we've actually had a Jewish actor playing a Jewish character, although full props, especially to full credit to Joe Locke for learning to sing the tour and everything, but this, yeah, they didn't lean into that, but they did.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_03]: What did you think about
- 43:06[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I was, you know, I was surprised that it wasn't Alicia, um, so I want to see what, what, I hope they come back to that.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_07]: So that could be fleshed out a little bit more, um, so I want to see where they go with that and why they chose not to have Alicia.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want to explain for anyone who doesn't know who Alicia Masters is?
- 43:40[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, she's been grim, so stormed.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_07]: You know, on and off again, a paramoia of Ben, who's father is also a supervillain.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, they did name check her father twice the public master right great and she happens to be blind stepfather stepfather um as she happens to be blind on as she scopes exceptionally well I don't she sees Ben for who he is and not what he looks like um which is you know adorable and their relationship
- 44:29[SPEAKER_07]: I was surprised it wasn't Alicia, but I was also happy that like at the before galactists when everybody scrambling and people are going to to mosque or church or a synagogue temple to pray or do whatever they do and he goes to see her and she says, Oh, did you come here
- 44:59[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I just smiled when he said that because, you know, at the end of the day, he is a scientist, like these are folks who have experience something that
- 45:27[SPEAKER_07]: cannot be not explained right like there's a literal space god coming to devour the earth and he tells her I'm not here for a spiritual guide as I'm just here to see you because you know he's bent out of space he's he's seen where people can only dream of seeing and that though that was a powerful moment
- 45:54[SPEAKER_07]: to reinforce their commitment to the rational, not to say religion is irrational, but, you know, yeah.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_07]: I just like that little snapshot of what Ben is thinking, because it really gives you an idea of what the family, what the fantastic for, I think, as well.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I love Natasha Leon.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_03]: I've been watching poker face catching up in the new season and I love Natasha Leon.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_03]: I felt she was underutilized here.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_03]: This is by the way, also her second MCU, she just played birdie in what if.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: And people hate on birdie, but I thought birdie was great.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_07]: How would the next daughter?
- 46:41[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not going a lot of y'all.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not saying it.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not saying it.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_07]: We're not fans of Birdie on this side.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_03]: Of the ocean.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_03]: You can't speak it for your all of the Americas.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'll speak it.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_07]: I'll speak it for everybody on this side of the ocean.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're not real fans of Birdie.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_03]: All right, I'll speak for your I've like, oh, the duck and the woman had a baby.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, I just felt at least that was a more interesting use of her.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_03]: Here, it feels like they cut it out most of it.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I did choose.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_07]: It was definitely under.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_07]: She was definitely underutilized.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like she's a school teacher, I guess, but I don't know.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_03]: I'd feel like, yeah, this is the part of the movie.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think at the shortest shift.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm curious, like, because that's also the question is, they're introducing someone who's not Alicia Masters, but then they did also mention the puppet master.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_03]: So it feels like,
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I don't know.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: If he was like there setting up things in this eight to eight universe, but it's like, isn't all of this going to be going to be going into the next movie?
- 47:56[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_07]: So I don't think it's in the next movie.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_03]: right.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_03]: So what I don't know how much time they have to play with this other universe that they're setting up.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I kind of hope that they're secretly slipping in an extra film or something or even a TV show or so.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_03]: Because if he was like, you know, we saw also read was looking over.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, I'm keeping tabs on such and such villains.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, well, what's the point in including that in this film?
- 48:32[SPEAKER_03]: Unless that's going to play out.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_03]: Or is that just like an Easter egg for fans?
- 48:40[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but yeah, Alicia Masters is also, it plays a big role in the Noron Rad version of Silver Surfer in the company.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_07]: And I get holding off for that.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_03]: Why think?
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I guess that, uh, I'm, I'm guessing Johnny's gonna play that role in this version.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_03]: This seems like they're, they're setting that up.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_03]: Johnny.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_03]: did have, in the comics, had a girlfriend who left him to become a hero to have a little collective.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, not the server server.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I've seen was like, maybe they are combining that with this, with this, Shalabal version.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_03]: Um, how would you compare so Johnny's powers are the flame on thing, you know, the human torch Joseph Quinn, by the way, excellent job, as you said, uh, but how would you compare him to Pyro from the X-Men on this version of Johnny is definitely beaten Pyro.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_07]: There was a scene where Johnny, the building was a building was on fire and he flew to the
- 49:54[SPEAKER_07]: took on the flames.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_07]: That was, yeah, that was so cool, right?
- 50:01[SPEAKER_07]: So there are, there are things that he can do with his powers that, you know, I think we really haven't seen on film yet, which is going to be, which could be really exciting if they actually play that,
- 50:24[SPEAKER_07]: read should have to figure out these things for him.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_07]: We're like play around with your powers to see what the utmost limits are and what you can actually do.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_07]: And it seems like he in this version has been doing that.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_07]: Tinkering with his powers, seeing what he can do, what he can't do.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, I think this version would take up horror.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I guess we've never seen Piro fly either, right?
- 50:54[SPEAKER_03]: So that's already mentally.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_07]: And as you go on, he's going to flame.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_07]: He's going to, you know, try to light up Johnny and this Johnny would just suck up, like you said, suck up all the flames.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_03]: And I like they, you know, they soften some of the stereotypes around his character, like he's always his hot head, get it, ha, ha, ha, ladies man.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_03]: And that's still there.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's still there.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_03]: But as much as the ladies man part is still there.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_03]: He's not just comic relief.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_03]: He's tone it down.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_07]: They really did tone it down like you just said.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_07]: And also that they showed him that he thinks as well.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_07]: He's not just a long footer ride and it's just like a dumb joke or something.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_07]: Like he actually hunkers down and helps intellectually.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_07]: And that's something that was refreshing to see as well.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_03]: he was one of my favorite parts of the film, but also attached to him is my least favorite plot point, which is him suddenly becoming a linguist.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not to say like I don't mind Johnny having new skills, I'm glad they flash him out.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_03]: It just came out of nowhere.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_03]: And as a linguist, I was like,
- 52:09[SPEAKER_03]: all right he's got two words and now he can understand the entire language and all the other alien languages it was just stretching my credulity too much and I know this is a nitpicky linguist thing but yeah I'm I'm saying we just we just talk about him sucking up the flames
- 52:25[SPEAKER_05]: And that part was cool, and that part was cool, and that was what the piece of things took good of a linguist, the man just flew into the sky and just sucked up a burning building.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_05]: I hate that word.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_05]: I hate that word.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_05]: I hate that word.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_05]: I hate that word.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_05]: I hate that word.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_08]: I hate that word.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_08]: I hate that word.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_08]: I hate that word.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_03]: I hate that word.
- 53:06[UNKNOWN]: I hate that word.
- 53:06[UNKNOWN]: I hate that word.
- 53:07[UNKNOWN]: I hate that word.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_03]: I think actually the best developed character, although even though I said it's very mommy centric, is Sue Storm play by Vanessa Kirby, the invisible woman.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: Um, Matt Chapman, the director described her as the most emotionally intelligent person on the planet, but I find more interesting would Vanessa Kirby said she said that she was obsessed with the comics run where Sue takes on malice the persona malice.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: and, which is obviously an antagonistic persona as the name suggests, and she included elements of that version in her portrayal, so Sue would not be, quote unquote, the stereotype of Goudi's sweet mother, and I felt that, I felt that fierceness, they came out several times.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, definitely you feel that.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_07]: I thought she was great, you know, Sue was, and in these past few years,
- 54:08[SPEAKER_07]: She's been shown to be so much more powerful than what she was shown to be early on and even 30 years ago.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_07]: Now she's using her powers in different ways much like you can see in the film.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_07]: So that was a welcome sign to see that day.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_07]: Not only are
- 54:33[SPEAKER_07]: looking at characters but they're you know updating the characters as appropriately as they should because she is super powerful as a you know super human and you get that sense in this movie that she can do so many different things you know she can do so many different things yeah that is worth of hours and I just love that I just love it
- 54:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, so the invisible thing basically she can create these powerful force fields that can, you know, be used for invisibility, but also we saw her pushing go like this through at the end and I love, I was listening to an interview I forget where it was now, but they were interviewing several of the writers of the comics and asked them all, who is your favorite character to write for one of them said, yes, Sue, because.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's so fun to invent new ways to use her powers and I thought like one of the coolest ways that was done in this film was with the See-through sonogram.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I love that.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_07]: That was my fake.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_07]: That arguably is my favorite moment of the movie Arguably is my favorite moment of the movie because She's there and reading is obsessing
- 55:50[SPEAKER_07]: but he's obsessing over making sure that the baby's okay.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_07]: After all that this baby's okay, half to it.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_07]: And she's just like, he wants you to baby, he has to baby.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_07]: Why didn't you just ask me to see the baby?
- 56:06[SPEAKER_07]: Like, yeah, look, look at the baby.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_07]: Look at the baby and literally you can see the baby.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_07]: Like, that was so dope, because it said so much about the relationship, right, and that moment and it showed so much about her own powers in that moment, you know, it was a double dosage of goodness for me who did in that scene, and he just had to shut up and be in awe of something that he had no comprehension that she could even do.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and the other scene, I think, where she, you know, I was questioning whether or not it's an action scene.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_03]: It is an action scene.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_03]: They're like flying through an asteroid field being chased and stuff.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's like a Star Wars E type of action scene.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's an action scene definitely.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_03]: but then in the middle of that, she's giving birth because Galactic has induced labor and she has to turn the ship invisible at the same time.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_03]: So she's like having contractions and pushing and also has to like 30 seconds you have to, that was tense and beautiful and harrowing you know.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_07]: All of the above, all of the above.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_07]: just magnificent, you know, and then re-telling, you know, then to cut the umbilical cord, you know, just then I need you, you know, just, it's everything that I wanted to see portrayed with this group of people.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_07]: They're trusting each other, right, even in the most dire circumstances.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_07]: They're belief in one another, just really good stuff.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's interesting to note.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_03]: This is something that's, what's it?
- 57:57[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know the, I think they talks about it in the movie, but in the, there's a prequel comic to this, which it's just called Fantastic Four.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_03]: First Steps prelude, it's just a one-shot comic.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_03]: And it,
- 58:11[SPEAKER_03]: goes more into their origin story and it goes more into the whole thing that happened with mole man.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_03]: So I definitely recommend looking it up and reading it, but that also goes more into the fact that her father is a physics professor, which I find interesting because the
- 58:35[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I still think it's funny.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_03]: So everyone is always chasing Sue in the comics, but especially, name more.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_08]: Yes.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_03]: And Pedro Pascal commented during their press tour.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he's like, you know, Vanessa Kirby is always bringing up name more and Sue.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's like, it's like that meme.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody, blank, Vanessa Kirby.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_03]: Did you know the name more and Sue have a thing in the comics?
- 59:05[SPEAKER_03]: This is a good re-funny.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if they're going to lean into that in doomsday because we know no more than doomsday.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_07]: Right, that would be cool.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_07]: That would be good to see.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_07]: Is it name or a not more and doomsday?
- 59:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, okay.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_03]: He says no more.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_03]: But I think it's kind of like like he's like no more is how I say it name
- 59:34[SPEAKER_03]: So, what did you think of the introduction of Franklin Richards and do you want to explain to people who don't know his significance?
- 59:43[SPEAKER_07]: Well, arguably Franklin Richards decided to sue and read Richards as the most powerful being in the Marvel Comics.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_07]: That's very rare.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_03]: That's very rare.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_07]: That's it.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_07]: Arguably the most powerful being born.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_07]: in the Marvel Comics.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_03]: There's a part of his story where he does become the, um, he takes Galactus's place in a way and Galactus becomes his Harold.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_03]: Like that tell powerful he is.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_07]: And there's a last two beings in existence.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_07]: So this is where we are at with Franklin.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_07]: I thought it was great.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_07]: Personally, I think his, you know, bringing in the baby who was really cool that aspect of their family life changing because of this baby.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm not going a lot of you.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_07]: I thought she was a Ghana.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_07]: I thought she was a Ghana.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like y'all.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_03]: I was like put the baby on her chest.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_03]: What are you in here?
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_03]: What are you on her chest?
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like I'm sitting in the theater.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like, oh wait a minute.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_07]: She's not breathing, all right.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_07]: And then we started doing the CPR there.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like y'all.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_07]: If they don't put this cosmic baby Jesus, and then him Lazarus, her ass up, I'm going to be really upset.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_07]: And he's doing the compression.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like, yo, left cosmic baby Jesus.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_05]: touch his mama.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_05]: He was the toucher.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_05]: Let him touch her.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_05]: That's all.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_05]: That's okay.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_05]: You don't need to do anything else.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_05]: Just let him touch his mother.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_05]: Baby Jesus is here.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_05]: He was the toucher's mother.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_05]: He's gonna Lazarus pass up.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_05]: And that's exactly what happened.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_05]: And I said, God damn, what did it take so long?
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_05]: No.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_05]: But we're doing, this is unneeded, unneeded stress, this is unneeded stress.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_05]: As soon as maybe Jesus started crying, you know, that the cosmic baby touches mama.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_03]: You were told he was a God.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_03]: It can't hurt.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, the guy, the guy told you what it is.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_07]: Like, you know, your baby is that guy, you know, your baby is that.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_03]: The Galactus is like, there's no one in the cosmos who matches him.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_07]: And none, yeah, so let the baby touch the his mama, you know, so finally, you know, cosmic baby Jesus touches his mama and mama wakes up and I'm like, finally, yeah,
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_03]: I would have liked to have seen some more of what it was like to raise.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_03]: Like they could do, like they did with baby group.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_03]: They could do little animated shorts about it's like to raise an infant with cosmic powers who, yeah, that would not yet have an adult understanding of the world.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_07]: That would be cool.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_07]: That would be that would be something I'd be so interested in watching.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_07]: That's a great idea.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so final member of the family, herbie, or the humanoid experimental robot, be type integrated electronics, who was played by Matthew Wood, who also did the voice of General Grievous and Star Wars.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_03]: A different robot.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so her be, I've did, like, I never watched the 78 animated series, but apparently that's where her be was introduced because they did not have rights to Johnny at that point.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_03]: So they're like, okay, we'll make her be the fourth family member and, um, and then they decided to put her be back.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_03]: In the comics like you know, there's sometimes it worked that way.
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not as I'm not as familiar with her be I just Emma was aware that he existed.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I mean, um, I thought, you know I thought the world about was cool.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I thought it's you know Most practical.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and it like you said mostly practical and look great
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_07]: And obviously it's an RTD to clone, but it works.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_07]: And I like how Herbe is integrated into their family.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_07]: You know?
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_07]: It's able to do different things on command and help out in certain situations.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_07]: and unable to help in other situations like, you know, when Galactus comes for Franklin, ain't nothing herbie can do.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_07]: Nothing herbie can do a set of shut the shutters and pray and that's not going to work.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_07]: So I thought it was appropriate for what the character of this little scent is not sent to him, but this little robot is which was nice to see and I think kids would love herbie.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_07]: at the end of the day like I he hasn't seen this movie yet neither has my my nephew but I'm sure the two of them will love this character
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_07]: that I'm absolutely I have already ordered some some things of her be to have on hands when they inevitably they're gonna ask me for for these things so I think that was a great move by Marvel by the show by the producers to include this character for specifically for kids and I like that.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, not everything has to be about me.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_07]: No, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_03]: Rosie was my favorite character from the Jetsons and I was definitely getting five.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_03]: Although, so they, herbie is acting as redesistent and as their nanny also.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_03]: So I guess they don't need Agatha who Agatha for anyone who doesn't know is their nanny for a while in the comics because you need a witch to control a god.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_07]: All right, thank you.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_07]: You don't know.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, we don't know.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, maybe.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, maybe.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_03]: She's currently incorporeal.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so one of the things, the most disturbing part, I would say, of the prelude comic that I mentioned is that, uh, herbie has a predecessor Kirby with a K and Ben crushes Kirby in the comic, which I should mention is written by Matt Fraction, who's famous.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_07]: It was also a comment writer, but yeah, so like I don't I don't like how that was handled in the comics and like wait is her be her be should be terrified of Ben Right right Yeah, again There are just some things that aren't that should be included in these sorts of movies that that aren't for us
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think her beast definitely for me.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_03]: I like robots and animals.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_07]: No, no, I know you do, right?
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_07]: But I'll just say it's just refreshing to for them to be able to be like, all right, we're going to take this character and lean into it.
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_07]: They didn't make him, didn't make him, didn't make her be like some sort of super robot.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_07]: It's just a little joy that walks around, that goes around, rolls around and does different medial tasks and is treated as part of the family and it's as important as any other part of the family.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, just, again, I'm just envisioning the youths that I have in my life, once they watch this movie, they're going to flock to this character.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_07]: I just know it.
- 1:08:06[SPEAKER_07]: I just know it.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to give you a couple of would you rather.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_03]: Would you rather live in the Backster Building or Avengers Tower?
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_07]: Backster Building.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_03]: would you rather drive the fantastic car or the batmobile?
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_07]: Fantastic car.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_03]: I flies.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_03]: I guess does the batmobile ever fly?
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_03]: Probably so.
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure there's something.
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_07]: No.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_07]: He has a bad jet.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, that's true.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_03]: But I wouldn't be cool if it's both.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, a bad copter.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_07]: There's a bad plane, bad copter, bad boat, bad car.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_03]: Reed Richard couldn't just stretch into this.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he's not going to go for it.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_03]: So what did you think of the Shalabal version of the Silver Surfer?
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that thought she was great.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_07]: There was really cool.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_07]: Um, she looked great.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_07]: Shanna-Bah, look awesome.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Julia Gardner.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's a good casting again.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_07]: Totally, totally.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_07]: She's like awesome design.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_07]: Um, everything, the way she moved on screen, um, how they portray someone to her powers, like being becoming intangible and phasing through certain things.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_07]: the speed as what she was able to fly through the cosmos really, really great stuff and just showing you know getting Johnny to have her open up, you know, those memories of
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_07]: The things that she's actually done, right, because she's led Galactus to many inhabited worlds, and it's just, yeah, the weight of that.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_07]: how we plays out at the end, you know, was really good to see because that's the same more laundry that we get in the comic books with, you know, Noron, Silver Surfer, the weight of what they've done in order to lead Galactics away from their homes.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_07]: They've, you know, destroyed other people's other homes of sentient beings.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_07]: So, really well done.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is the character that I, the most inspired me to dig into the comics more.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_03]: So I went back and I read the silver surfer origin series, which she's, Shalaball is it, so the silver surfer, like you said, is Norn Ratt in the comics.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_03]: Shalaball,
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_03]: It is his love, his great love.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_03]: She's a big part of his story, they're from Zenla.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_03]: But there is also a what if.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_03]: Well, there's two alternate universes where she becomes a herald for Galactus.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_03]: And there is a what if I really liked where she becomes what is it?
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_03]: She, I really like that story.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_03]: She becomes, was it star shine, star glow, I think?
- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:11:22[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a really kind of a sad story because Galactus realizes that what failed with Nore and Rad is he didn't take away his prior memories.
- 1:11:33[SPEAKER_03]: So he remembered Chaloball and was, you know, had something to fight for and so he just stripped her of her memories.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_03]: So she didn't remember Nore and Rad when he came back to Zenla and, um,
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_03]: Then he got trapped in Zenlan.
- 1:11:46[SPEAKER_03]: They took off.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_03]: She took off with Galactus and that's the end.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_03]: He's very heartbreaking, but I thought it was a beautiful comic.
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_03]: And then there's also, did you ever read that Earth X series?
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_07]: I did.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_07]: I actually have it on my table because a friend of mine asked me for the trade.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_07]: And so I'm going to get, I have it out, actually.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I think, yeah, I started reading it because that's the one where she becomes a silver surfer like like we see here.
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but it is interesting that that's also, I noticed immediately that's where they pulled the lore from, from the Eternal's movie from.
- 1:12:26[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, a few other things.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_03]: So it is, it's a, it's a very interesting, um,
- 1:12:38[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I wonder, we saw in this origin story.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_03]: So she, again, she not only volunteered to save her planet of Xenla, you know, she volunteered to be the hero of Galactus, if she said I'll find you other planets to eat.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_03]: But also to save, she is a child in this version.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I saw Missuming, the father must be a Nornrad.
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_07]: That's the assumption, yeah.
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_03]: Right, right.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_03]: I think I expected once they revealed she had a child, I thought that they would play into the parallel motherhood with Sue, like that she would have an insight into Sue, but I guess maybe they decided it was too much to have her have a connection with more than one.
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_03]: If she already has a connection with Johnny, I don't know.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe that do you think that influenced her final decision?
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know if that influenced her final decision, but I do think that
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_07]: her.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_07]: I think it's just the weight of what she had done, you know, in order to save her people, you know, because for a time you can just go around and, you know, herald everyone's ending, right?
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_07]: But once somebody is actually confronting you with the things that you've done,
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_07]: It might have an impact on the things that you do.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_07]: So I think it was more so Johnny saying, hey, this is not right.
- 1:14:20[SPEAKER_07]: This is not cool.
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:14:22[SPEAKER_07]: What you're doing?
- 1:14:23[SPEAKER_07]: And I think that's what cat her actually come back to help.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_03]: I do think that they're combining her with that Frankie Ray character who's with Nova.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_03]: And not that Nova.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_03]: Not that no one usually talking about.
- 1:14:43[SPEAKER_07]: Not Richard Wright and not Richard Wright and all that.
- 1:14:45[SPEAKER_03]: Not the one that has to do with the Nova core, but it just just happens to be.
- 1:14:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I think obviously, yeah, they would never going to call another character Nova and the MC because that's too confusing.
- 1:14:57[SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah, but I, I, I liked, I really liked that aspect that they created this connection between them.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I also, I just really liked, um, I was nervous about the CGI and I saw the first trailers, but I think they really, they nailed it at the end, and she was just really cool.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like, the whole, the way they did her voice and the way she delivered it.
- 1:15:16[SPEAKER_04]: I, Harold, this beginning, I, Harold, you are end, I, Harold.
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_04]: galactic.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's just great.
- 1:15:32[SPEAKER_06]: That's just great.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I think, you know, that touch they added, where she says, you die with yours.
- 1:15:39[SPEAKER_03]: It shows she feels guilt.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_03]: She feels this heaviness and passion.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_03]: But it's interesting.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_03]: She chose otherwise.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_03]: She
- 1:15:56[SPEAKER_07]: and have everyone else die with theirs.
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:16:04[SPEAKER_07]: That's heavy when you're confronted with it.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_07]: If you're not a full-on villain.
- 1:16:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:16:11[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's, that's, I think, a question.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what I would choose, what most people would choose between.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_03]: actually I do now.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_03]: But like would you die with your, would you want to be with your family, but you're all going to die sooner or you buy that time, but you're, you can't see them again.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_07]: I think I would buy them time.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_03]: I also, I thought I liked the way they handled her movements like where she was really surfing the
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_03]: Um, it was cool with the, with the, with the black hole escape, you know, that's not going to kill her.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_03]: It gets kind of spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti for the spaghetti
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_03]: When I think of a wormhole, I think the most common theory about how such a thing could possibly work is that it would be a black hole on the entrance side and you would have to somehow hold that open so you don't get crushed and then on the other side would be a white hole.
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_03]: And we kind of get this little tease where reads like, oh, maybe that leads to one of those
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_03]: what's going on with the black holes, how to wormholes work in the universe, because Reed knows, so tell me.
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_07]: That's fair, that's fair.
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so she heralds Galactus, Ralph Innocent, and Galactus arrives.
- 1:18:03[SPEAKER_03]: Question about the mechanics of Galactus.
- 1:18:05[SPEAKER_03]: So we see him, he's got, he's, has this, you know, his ship, the ta, two.
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_03]: chewing up the planets and then feeding it through these kind of feeding tubes plugged into his back and he unplugs himself from the feeding tubes at one point so that he can walk around the planet does he become smaller when that happens because he's not actively eating.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_07]: I think he galactis can at least in the comics, so I'm not sure how he plays out in the cinematic universe, but he can alter his size at will.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_07]: So it's independent on whether he's feeding
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_02]: okay, okay.
- 1:18:47[SPEAKER_07]: You can shrink, he can grow as much as he wants to.
- 1:18:53[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:18:54[SPEAKER_07]: Like if you think of the Celestials, right?
- 1:18:58[SPEAKER_07]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:18:58[SPEAKER_07]: And Eternals or in the Wattiffs, their size, their scale, galactis traditionally can be that on that scale in order to combat them.
- 1:19:11[SPEAKER_07]: Or he can shrink
- 1:19:16[SPEAKER_03]: All right, yeah, I had to go dive into his origin because it's wild and I hope that they talk about this in the MCU.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_03]: I've read the supervillains classics from 1983 called Galactus the origin and so he was a man called or, you know, was, yeah, a humanoid creature from a planet called Tau, his name is Galen and
- 1:19:43[SPEAKER_03]: He lived basically, so in the MCU, like the real life, they say, the universe has the big bang and then it has a big crunch is a popular theory for the universe where everything will pull back in and become this singular point and then re-expand and a new version of the universe is born.
- 1:20:11[SPEAKER_03]: and we met eternity in Thor for the movie.
- 1:20:16[SPEAKER_03]: There was a entity called eternity.
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the six cosmos version of it, the sentience of the six cosmos was basically like went to Gail and Tawh who's one of the last surviving beings at the death of the universe and said, hey, we want to make it through this big crunch and survive to the next one.
- 1:20:36[SPEAKER_03]: And um,
- 1:20:37[SPEAKER_03]: with our powers combined.
- 1:20:39[SPEAKER_03]: We are collectus.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_03]: And so he's reborn in the seventh cosmos, which is the six one six universe, um, in that seventh cosmos last until secret wars.
- 1:20:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I just think that's such a cool origin story.
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_03]: It is!
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_07]: Galactus is one of my favorite characters, period, in all comics, I've always loved Galactus, whether he's trying to eat the earth or save it or save the universe and battle, you know, other space gods, whatever, I've always loved the character and I think it deserves to be seen on screen the origins of being like that.
- 1:21:20[SPEAKER_07]: So I think it totally.
- 1:21:22[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, I said that the Earth X comics were inspiration for eternal in those comics, and they didn't say that here, they said Galactus is specifically targeting planets with celestials growing inside of them, which we know Earth, that is the case.
- 1:21:39[SPEAKER_03]: So I wonder if that's same.
- 1:21:42[SPEAKER_03]: And, I know, why what do you think is the cause of his eternal hunger?
- 1:21:49[SPEAKER_07]: We don't know.
- 1:21:51[SPEAKER_07]: We just know that Galactus is a force of the universe.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_07]: He things are made and things are on the, and he's the unmaker of those things.
- 1:22:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's entropy, I guess.
- 1:22:03[SPEAKER_07]: Right, he is, he is the universe does not function as it would function in Marvel comics without Galactus.
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_07]: Like if Galactus is not there, something is wrong with the universe.
- 1:22:20[SPEAKER_07]: with life, there's death, with death, there's life.
- 1:22:24[SPEAKER_07]: And he is the harbinger of that.
- 1:22:27[SPEAKER_07]: So his function, his role in the universe, is like gravity, it's essential to functioning, the proper functioning of the universe, in more of a comics.
- 1:22:42[SPEAKER_07]: He's a functional being.
- 1:22:45[SPEAKER_07]: Like, you cannot, the universe will not exist
- 1:22:51[SPEAKER_03]: me out.
- 1:22:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's interesting.
- 1:22:54[SPEAKER_03]: So Ralph Anderson also played a previous role in the MCU.
- 1:22:57[SPEAKER_03]: This is quite common.
- 1:22:58[SPEAKER_03]: He was, it was a very minor role.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_03]: He was a ravager in Guardians of the Galaxy, which I think is funny.
- 1:23:04[SPEAKER_03]: The ravager.
- 1:23:04[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_03]: It kind of implies a hunger, too.
- 1:23:08[SPEAKER_03]: But do you feel sorry for him or he's like, oh, I suffer from the endless hunger?
- 1:23:13[SPEAKER_07]: He's like,
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_07]: an evil villain.
- 1:23:25[SPEAKER_07]: I've always felt even when I was a kid.
- 1:23:29[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, do it as hungry, what do you want him to do, what was it, like, I mean, maybe I don't know.
- 1:23:41[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, don't eat my planet, I get it.
- 1:23:43[SPEAKER_03]: Right, exactly, exactly.
- 1:23:44[SPEAKER_03]: You want to make it to somebody else's problem?
- 1:23:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I mean, do it as hungry.
- 1:23:47[SPEAKER_07]: He's not, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he,
- 1:23:56[SPEAKER_07]: being like I have to eat you specific, right?
- 1:24:02[SPEAKER_07]: He's just sending his heralds out into the universe to find him something that he can punch on something tasty snack and I don't mean I can't I can't blame Galactics for that.
- 1:24:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think I can, I think I can, I think he's a no character
- 1:24:21[SPEAKER_07]: Nah, I can't blame him, you can't blame him, you can't blame him, he's just hungry, he's not out there waking up in the middle of the day and saying, ah, huh, then twisting his mustache, you know, he's not a mustache.
- 1:24:35[SPEAKER_07]: Nah, I'm going to eat, you know, no, he's like, functionally like, how do I survive by eating?
- 1:24:48[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:24:51[SPEAKER_03]: But you can do Galactus's PR.
- 1:24:54[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's like, I would love to do Galactus's PR.
- 1:24:57[SPEAKER_07]: I would be a hero.
- 1:25:00[SPEAKER_07]: I'll try to find uninhabited planets that could feed them.
- 1:25:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but if he says he needs to eat planets for there's a life force, and that's going to save the Earth.
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_07]: I might do it.
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 1:25:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean maybe this can you find planets that are entirely evil?
- 1:25:19[SPEAKER_07]: I'm sure I could.
- 1:25:23[SPEAKER_07]: I'm sure I could.
- 1:25:24[SPEAKER_07]: I thought I'd doubt.
- 1:25:25[SPEAKER_03]: I'll protect you much.
- 1:25:27[SPEAKER_07]: I thought I'd doubt I could find some evil ass planets that deserve to go.
- 1:25:31[SPEAKER_07]: Kick rocks planet.
- 1:25:34[SPEAKER_03]: Kick rocks.
- 1:25:37[SPEAKER_03]: I got it there.
- 1:25:38[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, let's take a quick pause here when we get back, we're going to talk about the PR problem with the fantastic foreign general and the end of the movie and what's coming next.
- 1:25:51[SPEAKER_03]: See you in a second.
- 1:26:12[SPEAKER_03]: Right, so the fantastic four go from heroes to zeroes.
- 1:26:20[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we know they're described as being like the Beatles quote unquote from our universe.
- 1:26:26[SPEAKER_03]: We see them on I think it's interesting.
- 1:26:28[SPEAKER_03]: There's always talk shows in their story.
- 1:26:31[SPEAKER_03]: They're always appearing on talk shows here.
- 1:26:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's the Ted Gilbert show.
- 1:26:34[SPEAKER_03]: And they're also like they are the entertainment.
- 1:26:38[SPEAKER_03]: They are also like the like Sue is the head of the future foundation, which is basically like the UN.
- 1:26:46[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that's a fair comparison?
- 1:26:48[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_07]: except they actually try to solve problems with the future foundation.
- 1:26:56[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yeah, they actually have the power to solve problems for you.
- 1:27:02[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, they come up with solutions.
- 1:27:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:27:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I liked the CEO is played by Sarah Niles, her name is Lynn Nichols, in the show, I thought she was also, I would have loved to see more of her, but she is such a presence on the screen whenever she was very likable.
- 1:27:22[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, here's my question about this eight to eight universe, would you say, Galactus Society obviously, do you think this is a utopia?
- 1:27:31[SPEAKER_07]: No.
- 1:27:32[SPEAKER_07]: No, why not?
- 1:27:35[SPEAKER_07]: the world is still under threat.
- 1:27:38[SPEAKER_03]: So no, but it's, I mean, isn't there always going to be, is there ever any capability?
- 1:27:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I don't think so.
- 1:27:51[SPEAKER_03]: A galactic aside, the villains are not very, they're not hugely threatening.
- 1:27:58[SPEAKER_07]: You don't know.
- 1:27:59[SPEAKER_07]: But they're threatening for the populations that they're threatening.
- 1:28:04[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:28:05[SPEAKER_03]: Looks nice and it looks, it looks awesome.
- 1:28:09[SPEAKER_07]: It looks great.
- 1:28:09[SPEAKER_07]: It looks awesome.
- 1:28:10[SPEAKER_07]: Everything looks dandy.
- 1:28:12[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I wouldn't call it a utopia though.
- 1:28:14[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:28:15[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:28:15[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:28:16[SPEAKER_07]: I know what the race relations are.
- 1:28:18[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:28:20[SPEAKER_07]: I got no gender dynamics.
- 1:28:22[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we know that Lynn Nichols is the CEO of the Future Foundation, which is seems like one of the most powerful positions in the planet.
- 1:28:30[SPEAKER_07]: I know, but that's Lynn Nichols, whereby, you know, Lynn David.
- 1:28:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, yeah, we don't, we don't know the wider situation.
- 1:28:41[SPEAKER_03]: I would have loved more than that.
- 1:28:42[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm going to say no to you talk.
- 1:28:45[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we find out that Reed has been monitoring puppet master, which we mentioned in Alicia Masters, stepped ad, and puppet masters in the Bowery, which is downtown Manhattan.
- 1:29:00[SPEAKER_03]: The wizard is in Grammyssey Park, which is, yeah, just close to not far from the Bowery to be honest.
- 1:29:08[SPEAKER_03]: And then Diablo's in Washington Heights, which is totally up top.
- 1:29:13[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I think, oh yeah, by the way, Diablo, I kept getting stuck in my head because I was just watching suicide squad.
- 1:29:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like this is not the DC care.
- 1:29:20[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, not that guy.
- 1:29:21[SPEAKER_03]: Not the DC care character.
- 1:29:22[SPEAKER_06]: Right, right.
- 1:29:24[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, but yeah, they're setting up like this whole layout of the city and where the power players are.
- 1:29:30[SPEAKER_03]: And like you must be planning on spending more time in this universe, I hope.
- 1:29:35[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I hope so.
- 1:29:36[SPEAKER_07]: Hope we get to see some of these characters.
- 1:29:38[UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
- 1:29:39[SPEAKER_03]: And then, yeah, I felt like Paul Walter Houser, who played Harvey Elder.
- 1:29:44[SPEAKER_03]: We should stop going a moment.
- 1:29:46[SPEAKER_03]: He said, I'm Harvey Elder.
- 1:29:48[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
- 1:29:49[SPEAKER_07]: It doesn't like moment.
- 1:29:50[SPEAKER_07]: I get it.
- 1:29:51[SPEAKER_07]: I don't like moment.
- 1:29:52[SPEAKER_03]: No, that's fair.
- 1:29:53[SPEAKER_03]: He stole, he stole the show whenever he was on screen.
- 1:29:56[SPEAKER_07]: He did.
- 1:29:58[SPEAKER_03]: Boom.
- 1:29:59[SPEAKER_07]: The fun character.
- 1:30:01[SPEAKER_03]: I really liked about that prequel comic that it really emphasizes the fact that he's only doing this.
- 1:30:08[SPEAKER_03]: He was only, you know, he only caused trouble because their construction on the surface world was collapsing subterania.
- 1:30:18[SPEAKER_03]: He says, in the comic, he says subterania is a principality, and we want what any other sovereign people want.
- 1:30:25[SPEAKER_03]: Recognition, prosperity, the inaliable right to exist.
- 1:30:32[SPEAKER_03]: You can't argue with that.
- 1:30:33[SPEAKER_07]: Don't sound like a utopia yet.
- 1:30:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, this is true.
- 1:30:36[SPEAKER_03]: This is true.
- 1:30:37[SPEAKER_03]: All right, good point.
- 1:30:40[SPEAKER_03]: As we also learn that he looked up to Sue's father and she's a goal, one of his physics students, and he says, no, I was a worker at the campus physical plants and your father taught us how to organize.
- 1:30:54[SPEAKER_01]: So again, not a utopia, I guess, if they have to organize and strike.
- 1:30:59[SPEAKER_01]: But this is, it's interesting.
- 1:31:02[SPEAKER_01]: He learned from Sue's father some of the skills that he's using to stand up for the subterranean people.
- 1:31:11[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, but it's also Sue's lack of a vision in this moment too, like, you know, she can only envision this person being a student of her followers, you know, like, so that's her her framework of how people can be, which gets, you know, checked immediately by Harvey.
- 1:31:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, apparently Vanessa Kirby's the scene she was most upset about being cut was this deep conversation between her and her valider.
- 1:31:48[SPEAKER_07]: that would have been great.
- 1:31:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:31:51[SPEAKER_03]: I've seen the coming.
- 1:31:52[SPEAKER_03]: There's also we see Harvey protecting a pregnant woman when it comes to blows and the implication is the pregnant woman is pregnant with his child.
- 1:32:02[SPEAKER_03]: So that would be an interesting parallel to draw, too, with Sue and Reed.
- 1:32:07[SPEAKER_03]: And what did he think about, you know, they're not wanting to give up their own child?
- 1:32:13[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 1:32:14[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 1:32:15[SPEAKER_03]: What did you think about the how quickly everyone turned on the fantastic for when they found out that Galactus said, give up the baby or I eat your world and they said no.
- 1:32:28[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I think it was, yeah, I believed it that people would react that way and it was infuriating that people reacted that way.
- 1:32:40[SPEAKER_07]: you know to tell someone to sacrifice their child so that they might live with something that is, you know, to me unfathomable.
- 1:32:56[SPEAKER_07]: To ask out of someone else or to ask someone
- 1:33:07[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was, there was an interesting parallel with Superman here where there's, um, they're both about how quickly we turn on our heroes.
- 1:33:17[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:33:18[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:33:18[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, but in the SuperMam movie, they, you know, it wasn't even like,
- 1:33:27[SPEAKER_07]: 10 seconds, you know, let's play that, that the audio and within like two seconds, they were throwing cans at Superman.
- 1:33:36[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:33:39[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, wow, given, you know, at least how would it think about what was going on and it was universal, you know, like this hatred for Superman at that moment.
- 1:33:50[SPEAKER_07]: And in the FF, it felt a little bit more personal.
- 1:33:57[SPEAKER_07]: Then in the Superman movie, I'd the way that they flipped the script on the FF, that's a big trade, yeah, so a lot more personal
- 1:34:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, if he was like the the the public felt betrayed by them, although I can't I do not believe the sue for second believe that read read was actually considering giving Franklin, but of course he has to think like he has to think from their perspective now.
- 1:34:27[SPEAKER_03]: Um, we both agreed that the Sue speech was me, but it ends.
- 1:34:34[SPEAKER_03]: I love the noted end zone.
- 1:34:35[SPEAKER_03]: I won't give up my child to save the world, but I won't give up the world to save my child either.
- 1:34:41[SPEAKER_08]: Right.
- 1:34:42[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:34:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I think she does live up to this because we see it does.
- 1:34:46[SPEAKER_03]: She risks her child as much as the world.
- 1:34:49[SPEAKER_03]: She risks them both equally.
- 1:34:52[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:34:58[SPEAKER_03]: mm-hmm.
- 1:35:00[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:35:00[SPEAKER_03]: So arguments in favor of the fact this is closer to utopia is the incredible cooperation to do these blackouts to save power.
- 1:35:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:35:12[SPEAKER_03]: Also, they evacuated the entire city.
- 1:35:16[SPEAKER_03]: This is New York City 8 million people to subterranean.
- 1:35:20[SPEAKER_07]: That was, you know, the cat, I thought both of those things were well done, you know, the speed at which they were able to construct those bridges or, you know, and the speed at which, you know, so a surfer was able to dismantle the, yeah, there's this recurring
- 1:35:50[SPEAKER_03]: don't always or often don't go as planned.
- 1:35:53[SPEAKER_03]: So we see that like the negotiation with Galactus does not play out the way that they wanted to The whole teleport the earth a plan shall evolve ruins it, but okay, I have so many science questions about the teleport the earth plan My great.
- 1:36:09[SPEAKER_03]: I need to sit down with you and pick your brain because And string my science question satisfactorous
- 1:36:19[SPEAKER_03]: But I did wonder, with that whole, the fact they set up this whole teleportation thing and then it is ruined.
- 1:36:30[SPEAKER_03]: But it's introducing us to this possibility.
- 1:36:33[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if this could be how the MCU sets up the MCU version of Battle World, which is something we see two weeks.
- 1:36:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think we probably both expect Battle World,
- 1:36:49[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, yes, absolutely.
- 1:36:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, do you want to explain about a world is for anyone who doesn't?
- 1:36:54[SPEAKER_07]: So in time runs out comics run what happens is that the universe is destroyed but doomed along with help from the molecule man and Dr.
- 1:37:07[SPEAKER_07]: Strange is able to piece together different parts of reality.
- 1:37:12[SPEAKER_07]: and form them into one world, where he rules over, but each piece of this world contains a different segment of the Marvel universe, so you have, you know, like, you know.
- 1:37:29[SPEAKER_07]: You have a world that's in the stuck in the middle ages, you have a world of doors, you have a door corp, you have, you know, all these disparate, you know, pieces of the Marvel comics splashed together into one cohesive world.
- 1:37:52[SPEAKER_07]: And this is what I'm expecting to see from Domestay.
- 1:37:57[SPEAKER_03]: Like we, um, we talked about in what if season three was at 1872 or whatever year was.
- 1:38:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:38:04[SPEAKER_03]: That was one of the battle worlds in the comic.
- 1:38:07[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:38:08[SPEAKER_07]: So.
- 1:38:09[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I mean, I think that that would be cool if they're setting this up in this movie to play out in a future movie.
- 1:38:18[SPEAKER_03]: That's something I would like to see more of in the Marvel, like that's where I feel like they have drifted a bit far apart where I would like to see where it doesn't have to be something where you have to have watched the previous movie to understand the next, but you get pale for things set up.
- 1:38:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I thought, and then, of course, the baby swap doesn't work out.
- 1:38:41[SPEAKER_03]: Galactus doesn't fall for it.
- 1:38:43[SPEAKER_07]: Clever, and...
- 1:38:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I thought they did a really good effort, blinding him, you know?
- 1:38:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was nice.
- 1:38:50[SPEAKER_07]: That was nice.
- 1:38:51[SPEAKER_07]: I thought the whole scene of Galactus walking, the empty streets of New York, was really well done.
- 1:39:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was an old school model.
- 1:39:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I think, you know, in terms of old school techniques, it's still the best.
- 1:39:07[SPEAKER_03]: And also, then we get the failure of where it seems like Galactus has been pushed through, but then no, he'd lunges back out at the end.
- 1:39:18[SPEAKER_03]: And then so it takes someone's gonna have to sacrifice himself.
- 1:39:20[SPEAKER_03]: And this is where Shala Balls like, no, this is my job.
- 1:39:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I wonder where it is.
- 1:39:25[SPEAKER_07]: They say they sent them to the far reaches at the universe, and I'm wondering exactly where the far reaches of this universe happened to be.
- 1:39:34[SPEAKER_03]: or could it be, this is where I have questions about the wormhole situation.
- 1:39:38[SPEAKER_03]: Is it possible, it's another universe?
- 1:39:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:39:41[SPEAKER_03]: And could the other universe be 616 or something?
- 1:39:44[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:39:45[SPEAKER_07]: That's exactly where my mind went to.
- 1:39:47[SPEAKER_07]: When they were saying that this is what they're going to do, send them to the far reaches of the universe.
- 1:39:55[SPEAKER_07]: Well, it would take them what they said.
- 1:39:57[SPEAKER_07]: Millions of years to get back, and something like that, to find the earth again.
- 1:40:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, um, that's, yeah, I mean, but that's just seems like licking your finger and sticking it in the air to see which way the wind's blowing.
- 1:40:10[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:40:10[SPEAKER_03]: You think that does read, does read even know?
- 1:40:13[SPEAKER_03]: This is why I've all the scientific questions about did he know where they were teleporting the earth to and how was that going to like the appearance of a celestial body in a new place is going to exactly.
- 1:40:28[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
- 1:40:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:40:31[SPEAKER_03]: And it's got to be a sun nearby, but now you're throwing off the balance of the rotations or, you know, the, sorry, the revolutions around the sun anyway.
- 1:40:41[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, I need, I have questions, science, man, give me a comic with it's just like Reed Richards nerds out and answers of the reasons.
- 1:40:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'll write it for you.
- 1:40:52[SPEAKER_03]: Good and such.
- 1:40:56[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, I'm complaining about
- 1:40:58[SPEAKER_03]: Johnny with the like linguistics thing and I stand by it and I do also think that they should have been an excuse for them to work together because there's even to be a story line about Johnny read pushing Johnny away and I don't know that that was fully resolved but I'll say what I really did like about this part was the emotional resonance of the scene
- 1:41:21[SPEAKER_03]: where there's that one final teleportation bridge left in Times Square, of course.
- 1:41:27[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, Johnny confronts Shalabal there and they have that conversation where she starts to feel the guilt.
- 1:41:37[SPEAKER_03]: And I think the actors, even Julia Gardner, who will both of them, I guess, because he's behind the fire, she's behind the silver, and still
- 1:41:47[SPEAKER_03]: So credits to them and the VFX for making those emotions palpable.
- 1:41:52[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:41:53[SPEAKER_07]: Definitely.
- 1:41:56[SPEAKER_03]: So how do you feel about the fact that I mean, I think we both agree it would have been stupid if they had killed Galactus.
- 1:42:03[SPEAKER_03]: But do you think he should have one quote unquote more than he did or you happy with this?
- 1:42:08[SPEAKER_03]: kind of truths situation at the end.
- 1:42:12[SPEAKER_07]: Not happy with it.
- 1:42:13[SPEAKER_07]: I'm happy with it because the true comic form, he doesn't always get his way, because he's so OP.
- 1:42:24[SPEAKER_07]: So if we're gonna just stick to what we know about power sets, then there's no way that galact is whatever story he's in doesn't come out on top.
- 1:42:38[SPEAKER_07]: So they were able to find a way not to actually defeat them, but to first start the inevitable for having them on that maybe.
- 1:42:49[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm okay with that.
- 1:42:52[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yeah, I think Galaxis is definitely going to be looking for that kid.
- 1:42:55[SPEAKER_03]: But then with my question, if he's in another universe, what if he finds that version of the kid or something?
- 1:43:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:43:03[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:43:04[SPEAKER_07]: We'll see.
- 1:43:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like how do we get to the credit scene where we see a fantastic foreship in 616?
- 1:43:13[SPEAKER_07]: That's what I want to see.
- 1:43:14[SPEAKER_07]: And that's my only company about this movie was that didn't shed light on that scene.
- 1:43:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we're definitely not getting that until Doom's day.
- 1:43:23[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 1:43:24[SPEAKER_03]: And we know that the Russo brothers directed that credit scene, just like they directed the credit scene that we got in this one where four years later, of course, Sue and Franklin are reading at home and she goes to get a different book and doom is there in the living room.
- 1:43:44[SPEAKER_03]: What did you think of this credit scene?
- 1:43:46[SPEAKER_07]: Um, yeah, I was I thought it was okay.
- 1:43:50[SPEAKER_07]: Um, I didn't scream like watch out when it happened.
- 1:43:55[SPEAKER_07]: Um, and I stayed away from all the spoilers.
- 1:43:58[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't know.
- 1:43:59[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 1:43:59[SPEAKER_07]: But the, and what the scene was, um, the one thing I did appreciate about it was that as soon as she walks into the room, she powered up.
- 1:44:09[SPEAKER_07]: There was no hesitation, it was just like, boom, walking to the room, who is this boom powered up?
- 1:44:18[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 1:44:20[SPEAKER_07]: Ready for what it's going on.
- 1:44:22[SPEAKER_07]: And I thought that was the best part of that scene for me.
- 1:44:28[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that they know each other?
- 1:44:30[SPEAKER_03]: Do doom and read?
- 1:44:32[SPEAKER_03]: No, each other in this universe?
- 1:44:34[SPEAKER_03]: And...
- 1:44:34[SPEAKER_07]: I'm assuming, yes.
- 1:44:39[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to call it sooner.
- 1:44:41[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, yes, they were friend, friend, Lebanese, you know, I don't know what they were, but definitely they were rivals, um, intellectual rivals.
- 1:44:52[SPEAKER_07]: So yes, I'm assuming that he knows the victim of our own doom.
- 1:44:57[SPEAKER_07]: that there is a victim on doom there.
- 1:45:00[SPEAKER_07]: And I think there was a let's vary a that was not seated at the future foundation.
- 1:45:05[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:45:07[SPEAKER_07]: Was that showed the room so yeah.
- 1:45:10[SPEAKER_03]: And and that's a doom for anyone doesn't know is the like, the monarchy, the monarchy, the monarchy, and yeah.
- 1:45:19[SPEAKER_03]: So we definitely we saw an empty chair.
- 1:45:20[SPEAKER_03]: So we know the country exists in this earth.
- 1:45:23[SPEAKER_07]: And it's this doom, it's this doom that we're getting and doomsday eight to eight doom.
- 1:45:33[SPEAKER_06]: Is it there doom?
- 1:45:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:45:35[SPEAKER_03]: I guess so, right?
- 1:45:37[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 1:45:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean,
- 1:45:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:45:39[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm assuming the doomsday starts with this with this whole scenario.
- 1:45:45[SPEAKER_03]: I just was thinking about afterwards, like how cool would it have been if we lived in a universe where, you know, like we were kind of, uh, poopoing about the Robert Downing Jr. of it all, like, back and yeah, what if they had just managed to keep it a secret and then just revealed it
- 1:46:08[SPEAKER_07]: I probably would have loved it.
- 1:46:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:46:15[SPEAKER_03]: If surprises were an option, I think I would have gone out better.
- 1:46:21[SPEAKER_07]: I think I would have loved it most likely.
- 1:46:24[SPEAKER_03]: I have wondering, so we see Doom, he's famous for his mask, is iconic looking mask.
- 1:46:31[SPEAKER_03]: We saw the mask because Doom had it off of his face because he has like a scarred
- 1:46:39[SPEAKER_03]: Does why was he showing Franklin his face?
- 1:46:43[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think he was asking Franklin to heal him?
- 1:46:45[SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe he was going there?
- 1:46:48[SPEAKER_07]: That's the first thought I had was, you know, Franklin is healing his face and that's like a show of his power.
- 1:46:57[SPEAKER_07]: It's almost like a test by dome of Franklin's abilities.
- 1:47:03[SPEAKER_07]: That's the first thing that I thought of.
- 1:47:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:47:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yeah.
- 1:47:09[SPEAKER_03]: And then a lot of people are theorizing that doom will kidnap Franklin, and that will is going to be what starts doom just doomsday.
- 1:47:18[SPEAKER_07]: Second thing that I thought of, yes, which is why the ship is going to show us up on 626.
- 1:47:30[SPEAKER_03]: And then we have, where did you think of the final cartoon Easter egg at the very end of the credits?
- 1:47:37[SPEAKER_07]: I don't have a cool, that was cool.
- 1:47:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:47:40[SPEAKER_07]: I like that, I like that a little touch.
- 1:47:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's interesting, they use, you know, they're like, we do have real world 60s or so many different iterations of fantastic four cartoons, including one from the 60s, but this is a new fictitious one.
- 1:47:55[SPEAKER_03]: I want them to just like release the full episodes.
- 1:48:01[SPEAKER_07]: That would be fun.
- 1:48:03[SPEAKER_03]: But we got, yeah, we got the teas of so the villains that Reed was monitoring plus more.
- 1:48:10[SPEAKER_03]: So Red Ghost, who's drawn to look like John Malkovich, that's the character that was cut.
- 1:48:17[SPEAKER_03]: Diablo and puppet master and wizard, there's the other ones, the Reed mentioned and then also on top of that Dragon Man and Mad Thinker.
- 1:48:25[SPEAKER_03]: So presumably, these are all real characters in this world.
- 1:48:31[SPEAKER_03]: but the question is, are there any other heroes?
- 1:48:33[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know.
- 1:48:34[SPEAKER_07]: They made a point to say they're on none.
- 1:48:37[SPEAKER_07]: So, we shall see.
- 1:48:39[SPEAKER_03]: No, they're stature.
- 1:48:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:48:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we shall see.
- 1:48:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, so this is all leading up to this is kind of like setting up, well, literally, it's setting up phase six, the final phase altiverse, it's setting up the road to secret wars.
- 1:48:56[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to let's run through the upcoming movies on the road to secret wars, and I'm going to do a high level check with you for them.
- 1:49:04[SPEAKER_08]: Okay, okay.
- 1:49:06[SPEAKER_03]: So starting with July 31st, 2026, we get the first of a new trilogy, Spider-Man, brand new day.
- 1:49:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be directed by Destin Daniel Kretten, who did Shang-Chi, and Punishu is going to show up.
- 1:49:20[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, Blvd.
- 1:49:22[SPEAKER_07]: Am I?
- 1:49:24[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:49:24[SPEAKER_03]: One height.
- 1:49:25[SPEAKER_03]: One height.
- 1:49:26[SPEAKER_03]: One height.
- 1:49:27[SPEAKER_03]: One.
- 1:49:27[SPEAKER_03]: One.
- 1:49:27[SPEAKER_03]: One.
- 1:49:28[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:28[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:28[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:28[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:30[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:30[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:30[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:30[SPEAKER_07]: One.
- 1:49:30[SPEAKER_07]: One.

- 1:49:44[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a one.
- 1:49:45[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we're.
- 1:49:46[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we're getting miles more honest in the MCU until.
- 1:49:51[SPEAKER_03]: And after yeah until after beyond the spider verse.
- 1:49:54[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:49:55[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:49:56[SPEAKER_07]: When I get any of those characters spotted when he, you know, now they're talking about doing if you haven't heard they're talking about doing a.
- 1:50:03[SPEAKER_07]: animated spider punk film as well and you know that's all well and good but I want these characters to be live action.
- 1:50:17[SPEAKER_07]: So please give me the final spiderverse movie so we can try to get these things live action.
- 1:50:24[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm yeah yeah.
- 1:50:27[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they keep delaying it, but I hope that's for good reasons for you.
- 1:50:30[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, me too.
- 1:50:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:50:32[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:50:33[SPEAKER_03]: So speaking of a live action, the next film so far, these are the films that are announced.
- 1:50:39[SPEAKER_03]: I actually fully expect that there will be at least a couple more announced in the meantime.
- 1:50:43[SPEAKER_03]: But the next one announced is for December of 2026.
- 1:50:47[SPEAKER_03]: And that is Avengers Doomsday, which we keep referencing, directed by the Russo brothers, a high level here.
- 1:50:57[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, okay.
- 1:50:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:51:00[SPEAKER_03]: It seems, you know, James Gunn, I'm sorry, one of my same James are Kevin Feige, came out recently, Kevin Feige came out recently and said, you know, before even the whole, before the whole Jonathan majors controversy, we were already thinking should we be pivoting to doom.
- 1:51:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know that I 100% believe that, however, it is true.
- 1:51:28[SPEAKER_03]: the doom is the more accurate villain for if he was like okay we want to get the fantastic for going that would have him thinking about doom and doom is the more accurate villain for the story that they're telling.
- 1:51:40[SPEAKER_07]: Listen, begging these more people, I don't believe that.
- 1:51:46[SPEAKER_07]: I don't
- 1:51:52[SPEAKER_07]: to not a single bone in my body, but he said, he needs a whole lot more people in order to convince me that they were already down on Kang before Jonathan Major's was arrested and tried.
- 1:52:10[SPEAKER_07]: No.
- 1:52:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think part of it also was that the M.M.
- 1:52:14[SPEAKER_03]: movie with him didn't do that well, but that's because they properly use King.
- 1:52:20[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:52:21[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 1:52:21[SPEAKER_07]: And the thing is going into the M.M.
- 1:52:24[SPEAKER_07]: movie, everybody wanted he who remains.
- 1:52:29[SPEAKER_07]: Let's be real.
- 1:52:31[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, we were all raven about his portrayal.
- 1:52:36[SPEAKER_07]: We were all raven about Kang.
- 1:52:38[SPEAKER_07]: Can't wait to see more of Kang.
- 1:52:40[SPEAKER_07]: So, you know, whatever happened on set in that movie that changed those dynamics happened and that movie was trash.
- 1:52:51[SPEAKER_07]: I'm sorry, but there's no way that I believe that prior to that man coming out that they were already in talks of maybe we should pivot, no, I don't believe it.
- 1:53:04[SPEAKER_07]: If nothing, if Jonathan majors had not gone, if those things did not occur, that occurred, right, the backlash that was given to him did not happen.
- 1:53:20[SPEAKER_07]: They would have made Kang, they just wouldn't made a better movie than they did of that man.
- 1:53:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I think that obviously they wanted that man to be a good movie.
- 1:53:32[SPEAKER_03]: And it had its moments.
- 1:53:34[SPEAKER_03]: But I think it's, again, it's just like the with on the cinematic side, the too much playing it safe.
- 1:53:43[SPEAKER_03]: And that's exactly what
- 1:53:45[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm going to say, well, ruined Captain America for me and Aunt Man was showing early symptoms of that so I think just they pulled their punches too much and Kang is not a character to pull their punches and they better not do that with doom.
- 1:54:00[SPEAKER_07]: lean into the weird like you said.
- 1:54:03[SPEAKER_07]: It's okay.
- 1:54:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so doomsday set 14 months after Thunderbolts and we know they did huge announcements with a bunch of characters are going to be in it, although they've already said it's not all the characters that are going to be in it, but we know obviously dooms going to be in it, the Fantastic Four.
- 1:54:22[SPEAKER_03]: the telecom, you know, and more and all the rest that will condens the Thunderbolts team, the Avengers, and I haven't read the season yet, the lesser kind without a Z. I'm picking sides.
- 1:54:38[SPEAKER_07]: I respect it.
- 1:54:39[SPEAKER_03]: The OG Foxman plus the chatting Tatum Gambit, which does anybody remember the Taylor kitsch?
- 1:54:48[SPEAKER_03]: Actually did play Gambit in a movie, but it was in the movie that everybody hates.
- 1:54:53[SPEAKER_03]: So poor Taylor kitsch is the forgotten Gambit, but chatting Tatum was the one we all wanted.
- 1:54:59[SPEAKER_03]: And Tom Hiddleston is confirmed as Loki, which what does this mean for Loki's multiverse
- 1:55:07[SPEAKER_07]: But he has to be included, like they have to include that in the trade and VA, the tree, Loki.
- 1:55:16[SPEAKER_03]: Or is it a different level?
- 1:55:17[SPEAKER_07]: Or is it a different level?
- 1:55:18[SPEAKER_07]: Significance to the universe.
- 1:55:20[SPEAKER_07]: I can't imagine this a different Loki, because they have to account for this Loki.
- 1:55:26[SPEAKER_03]: And it seems like they haven't announced the rest of the TVA cast.
- 1:55:29[SPEAKER_03]: But it seems like we're telling a story where the TVA, the TVA's got to play a big role in the last two.
- 1:55:36[SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.
- 1:55:37[SPEAKER_06]: Agreed.
- 1:55:39[SPEAKER_03]: Whether King is a sideline or not.
- 1:55:42[SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
- 1:55:43[SPEAKER_03]: There's the rumor that Chris Evans is back again, but then the question is, is he back as cap or is he back as Johnny Storm, like what we got that fake out where we didn't know which character he was in Deadpool and Wolverine was one of the funniest moments in that movie.
- 1:56:04[SPEAKER_03]: What would you prefer for Doomstay?
- 1:56:08[SPEAKER_03]: Go cap.
- 1:56:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, okay, okay, okay.
- 1:56:12[SPEAKER_03]: And other rumors, how likely do you think, okay, TVA, we said, probably likely.
- 1:56:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think Jeffrey Wright, as who I'll take the watcher, got to be, right?
- 1:56:21[SPEAKER_07]: Like we, yes.
- 1:56:23[SPEAKER_03]: Dr.
- 1:56:24[SPEAKER_03]: Strange, Clea, and Wong.
- 1:56:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:56:27[SPEAKER_03]: Right, that seems Peggy Carter.
- 1:56:29[SPEAKER_03]: If, if Capcom, maybe.
- 1:56:30[SPEAKER_03]: We need Peggy.
- 1:56:31[SPEAKER_03]: I want Peggy.
- 1:56:32[SPEAKER_03]: The Marvels.
- 1:56:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:56:35[SPEAKER_03]: Um, there's this champions team.
- 1:56:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if they're going to form it.
- 1:56:39[SPEAKER_03]: But we have all these young ones running running around.
- 1:56:42[SPEAKER_03]: We've got America, Cassie, Kate, really.
- 1:56:44[SPEAKER_07]: I'd be surprised.
- 1:56:47[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 1:56:47[SPEAKER_03]: She-Hoke.
- 1:56:48[SPEAKER_07]: No.
- 1:56:49[SPEAKER_03]: Vision.
- 1:56:50[SPEAKER_07]: I'd be surprised, yes.
- 1:56:52[SPEAKER_03]: uh... the new guardians of the galaxy which again with star lord rocket group nebula atom and phyla the little girl yes yes yes the defenders which is yes daredevil and king pin and well he's not a defender but he's part of that uh... the midnight sons maybe related to that mafisto yes
- 1:57:18[SPEAKER_03]: I hope so.
- 1:57:19[SPEAKER_03]: I hope that like we get a, I mean, do have they announced next year's, no, they haven't announced next year's Halloween thing.
- 1:57:30[SPEAKER_03]: I hope next year we get a nice son's Halloween thing spooked over.
- 1:57:34[SPEAKER_06]: That would be cool.
- 1:57:36[SPEAKER_03]: please.
- 1:57:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'm asking nicely.
- 1:57:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be, once to challenge, finally, we cast as, of course, it was, I'm sorry, times to nature.
- 1:57:49[SPEAKER_03]: The next thing's going to be me asking for me asking for the midnight sense.
- 1:57:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:57:56[SPEAKER_03]: What characters do you think are going to die in this movie?
- 1:57:59[SPEAKER_03]: Because I think I'm obviously no longer going to die in secret words.
- 1:58:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, everybody's on a table.
- 1:58:05[SPEAKER_07]: Everybody's on a table.
- 1:58:06[SPEAKER_07]: Everybody, because it's the end of the universe, so of all universes.
- 1:58:10[SPEAKER_07]: So, you know, everybody's on a table and everybody's on a table to be part of that a world.
- 1:58:19[SPEAKER_07]: So that's what
- 1:58:21[SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm, yeah, yeah, especially, you know, across all the universes, yeah, I bet some Spider-Man's are going to show up to.
- 1:58:31[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, probably, definitely.
- 1:58:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:58:34[SPEAKER_03]: And then, okay, that all leads up to Avengers Secret Wars, which is coming out December of 2027, again, Russo Brothers.
- 1:58:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's interesting, it's almost a year to the day after the prior one.
- 1:58:45[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if that's going to be part of the plot.
- 1:58:48[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I'm super, super, super hyped for that because it's the end of everything and the beginning of everything.
- 1:58:58[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 1:58:59[SPEAKER_02]: Fresh stars.
- 1:58:59[SPEAKER_07]: It's the beginning of the end.
- 1:59:01[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm super invested in how they do this.
- 1:59:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:59:05[SPEAKER_07]: This movie.
- 1:59:06[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:59:07[SPEAKER_07]: I do those things.
- 1:59:09[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:59:09[SPEAKER_07]: This is the movie that I'm most excited to see.
- 1:59:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so on the movie side that's all that's been announced as of this recording, but I mean, I would be surprised if there weren't surprises.
- 1:59:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think I think they've learned like it's interesting neither Marvel nor D.C. went to haulage at Comic Con.
- 1:59:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think they've learned from when they did that thing where they announced all of these movies and then we're as everyone's like, you know, five years later, where's blade.
- 1:59:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think that they've decided perhaps to hold the cards closer to their chest.
- 1:59:49[SPEAKER_07]: Well, we'll see what happens in October for New York Comic Con.
- 1:59:54[SPEAKER_07]: If there are any announcements then.
- 1:59:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I know, so I mean, I expect there's going to be at least one movie in between Secret Wars, sorry, between Doomsday and Secret Wars, but I don't know, but Or they are they going to finish off this Spider-Man trilogy before Secret Wars or is this going to ban the two in current, you know, the two phases or whatever, the two sagas
- 2:00:25[SPEAKER_07]: I think this part of men will be part of this version and then the next two movies will be part of the new universe.
- 2:00:40[SPEAKER_03]: We know the next phase is going to be X-Men focused, which I think everyone's excited for, right?
- 2:00:48[SPEAKER_03]: Which you're high-blown at.
- 2:00:48[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:00:50[SPEAKER_07]: You know, X-Men doesn't super-duper-duper-hard.
- 2:00:53[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if I don't think we'll get maybe we'll get X-Men and doomsday, but I think no more so I think we might get maybe some new X-Men teases in secret wars.
- 2:01:08[SPEAKER_07]: We'll see.
- 2:01:08[SPEAKER_07]: That would be nice to have, but because the old X-Men are not making it to the new universe, so.
- 2:01:17[SPEAKER_03]: No, those are all dead.
- 2:01:19[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 2:01:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
- 2:01:22[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to go, you know.
- 2:01:24[SPEAKER_03]: Um, what do you think about this announcement?
- 2:01:28[SPEAKER_03]: Faggy made that there's going to be a bigger division between the TV and the movie side of the storytelling.
- 2:01:34[SPEAKER_03]: Is this a good thing or a bit?
- 2:01:35[SPEAKER_07]: Ah, I don't know yet.
- 2:01:38[SPEAKER_07]: I like stories that are interconnected.
- 2:01:43[SPEAKER_07]: I like being able to see things.
- 2:01:46[SPEAKER_07]: you know carry over from one point to the next so yeah well I'll have to wait and see how it goes yeah I mean I think I don't think that it's that necessary I think they're worried the people weren't going to the movies because they weren't caught up on the TV but I think
- 2:02:09[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 2:02:10[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that that's actually the problem.
- 2:02:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:02:13[SPEAKER_03]: I never thought that.
- 2:02:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:02:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:02:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think that I'm a bit disappointed, I am always, I do tend to be more excited about the TV side of things because I feel like that's where you get to go deeper and take bigger chances.
- 2:02:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I hope that that doesn't go away with it.
- 2:02:33[SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe it may be, it offers more opportunity to go even weirder on TV.
- 2:02:40[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 2:02:40[SPEAKER_03]: We'll speaking in the TV side.
- 2:02:41[SPEAKER_03]: Let's do a high level check over there.
- 2:02:43[SPEAKER_03]: So this one, it's kind of cheating.
- 2:02:46[SPEAKER_03]: I can't ask your high level because watch the most of it.
- 2:02:50[SPEAKER_03]: But later this this week or sorry, we'll talk about what we're talking about it.
- 2:02:54[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be, uh, we're going to talk about Isabel Condos.
- 2:02:57[SPEAKER_03]: So that came out anyone who doesn't know it came out August 1st.
- 2:03:02[SPEAKER_03]: That was moved up a few weeks.
- 2:03:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think maybe to avoid Beastmaker.
- 2:03:06[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 2:03:07[SPEAKER_03]: But it is.
- 2:03:08[SPEAKER_03]: And so yeah, we have a one shot that's going to be coming out beginning of next week, talking about the four episodes together.
- 2:03:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's animated series.
- 2:03:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's the Wakandans out in the MCU at four different points in history.
- 2:03:21[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, well, we'll go deep on that.
- 2:03:24[SPEAKER_03]: But, all right, next up after that high-level October 3rd, we get another four episode of animated series dropped this year's spooktober special Marvel
- 2:03:37[SPEAKER_03]: very height.
- 2:03:38[SPEAKER_03]: I mean to these comics, surprising that one.
- 2:03:42[SPEAKER_03]: The zombie comics, yes, and guess what, man thing in Jennifer?
- 2:03:47[SPEAKER_03]: Show up as well.
- 2:03:50[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, so...
- 2:03:52[SPEAKER_03]: We will be doing a one chat.
- 2:03:54[SPEAKER_03]: This is a spin-off of the what if season one zombies storylines.
- 2:04:00[SPEAKER_03]: So we we did cover that.
- 2:04:02[SPEAKER_03]: You can find the what season one episode in the feed if you want some backstory there, but
- 2:04:08[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's going to be a shit ton of characters in it.
- 2:04:12[SPEAKER_03]: They didn't announce men thing or Jennifer Kale, but a girl can hope.
- 2:04:22[SPEAKER_03]: But we know there's going to be Aquafina's back as Katie.
- 2:04:26[SPEAKER_03]: We've got Red Guardian, Shanchi, Scarlet Witch, and a lot of these are going to be the zombie versions of these again.
- 2:04:33[SPEAKER_03]: Jimmy Wu, Yelena Balova, Kate Bishop, Riri Williams, Kamala Khan.
- 2:04:38[SPEAKER_03]: I can't wait to see Riri Williams and Kamala Khan interact, even if it's the animated versions.
- 2:04:44[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, they'll be nice.
- 2:04:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and they all pretty much have their live action counterparts doing the voices again, so.
- 2:04:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and oh, okay, here's a question.
- 2:04:58[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think the Marvel zombies universe could play a role in
- 2:05:03[SPEAKER_07]: Um, no.
- 2:05:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, maybe too weird.
- 2:05:09[SPEAKER_07]: Well, only only to say that is destroyed.
- 2:05:13[SPEAKER_03]: What if they did?
- 2:05:14[SPEAKER_03]: Why guest there did this in what if season one where they open a portal in the zombies of flow out and they use that as a weapon?
- 2:05:22[SPEAKER_03]: I guess I already did it.
- 2:05:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I can't see them as secret was.
- 2:05:27[SPEAKER_03]: All right, hype check for last TV show live action, TV show of the year coming in December.
- 2:05:34[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know which state exactly yet.
- 2:05:36[SPEAKER_03]: We know it's going to be eight episodes.
- 2:05:39[SPEAKER_03]: Wonderman.
- 2:05:40[SPEAKER_07]: super duper duper hide yeah okay yes I've come around I wasn't excited before but I loved what they did with the world out of fantastic for where y'all was in character on the right carpet playing Simon Williams and just you know talking about his struggle as an actor
- 2:06:04[SPEAKER_07]: I really appreciate this type of introduction to the character, so I'm kind of I'm excited to see what it goes.
- 2:06:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we had also at Harris was there sort of it was kind of like I don't even watch Veep, but I I know the vibe of Veep with with Julia Louie Dreyferson and Tony Hill and at Harris was sort of he's Simon's agent he's going to be playing Simon's agent in the series and he was sort of acting as like Simon was being the straight man and he was being like
- 2:06:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, I think it's going to be fun because I know we were wondering about, yeah, yeah, his comedic, we haven't seen him be comedic, but this works having him as the straight man.
- 2:06:54[SPEAKER_03]: And we know, for example, that Ben Kingley is going to be back as Trevor Slattery, who is the actor or actor from Iron Man, when all hail the King shorts and Shang-Chi,
- 2:07:07[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it's going to be fun to see these three men play off of each other.
- 2:07:12[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm excited for this.
- 2:07:16[SPEAKER_03]: We also, we're going to get Aryan Moyed back as Cleary, the DODC agents that we met in Spiderman, No Way Home and Ms. Marvel, especially I remember him from, and we're getting introduced to, now this is one, you know, because I like the Scarlet and Vision Comics, Scarlet with Vision Comics, we're going to meet Simon's brother.
- 2:07:42[SPEAKER_03]: Eric Williams, who's known as the Grim Reaper, so that's a major character to introduce.
- 2:07:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think, okay, so I'm excited, the showrunner is Andrew Guest, who is known for shows like 30 rock community, Brooklyn, 99 Hawkeye, so we know he can nail that comedic tone and it was created with destined Daniel Cretan, and we know the episode lengths are going to be in the 20 to 40 minute range, so, you know, prime comedy time.
- 2:08:12[SPEAKER_03]: But I kind of am starting to hate this Marvel spotlight label that they put on things.
- 2:08:20[SPEAKER_03]: they've only put it on echo in this.
- 2:08:22[SPEAKER_03]: And it feels like a way for them to say, these are the shows you don't have to worry about because we're not going to do that character anymore.
- 2:08:31[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, yeah.
- 2:08:34[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I hope that that's not the case.
- 2:08:36[SPEAKER_07]: I hope this builds it out the water, much like echoed Ed.
- 2:08:41[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, we'll see.
- 2:08:42[SPEAKER_03]: But I do worry we won't see echo again.
- 2:08:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I know, Fige, like, because this show was so delayed.
- 2:08:52[SPEAKER_03]: And Fige says he's bummed that it now follows the franchise in the studio instead of leading the pack, because they're also sort of satirizing the industry.
- 2:09:00[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 2:09:02[SPEAKER_03]: But then it's like, well, then why did you delay it so much?
- 2:09:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I guess because they wanted to space things out, but I don't know.
- 2:09:07[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like I feel like a lot of the Marvel shows this year are not being treated properly.
- 2:09:14[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I agree.
- 2:09:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think a lot of people don't even know is of Wakanda exists.
- 2:09:19[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 2:09:21[SPEAKER_07]: At our friend tell me that I didn't know he came out.
- 2:09:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:09:26[SPEAKER_07]: So after not doing proper reveals and coverage, giving people the proper heads up, these are the things that we're doing.
- 2:09:36[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 2:09:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 2:09:39[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, well, definitely.
- 2:09:40[SPEAKER_03]: I'm also super duper hyped for this one.
- 2:09:42[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll figure out coverage.
- 2:09:44[SPEAKER_03]: Probably not weekly given it's coming out in December, but we'll figure it out.
- 2:09:49[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 2:09:50[SPEAKER_03]: All right, hype level force.
- 2:09:51[SPEAKER_03]: Now we're moving on to 2026.
- 2:09:54[SPEAKER_03]: Daredevil born again season two.
- 2:09:56[SPEAKER_07]: Super duper hyped.
- 2:09:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:09:59[SPEAKER_03]: We talked about season one at length, so we don't need to dwell on it, but we kept saying it's setting up season two, so bring on season two.
- 2:10:11[SPEAKER_03]: What about the Punisher special?
- 2:10:12[SPEAKER_07]: Super dupe hyped.
- 2:10:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:10:15[SPEAKER_03]: We don't know.
- 2:10:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be sometime in 2026.
- 2:10:17[SPEAKER_03]: We're not sure when it was co-written by John Burnto, who plays the Punisher himself.
- 2:10:22[SPEAKER_03]: And the rumors of villain is going to be Isabella Ma, new cheat, which suggests it'll be like a mob story, which feels fitting.
- 2:10:33[SPEAKER_07]: I've grounded crime, story.
- 2:10:36[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so interested in the fact that the Punisher is going
- 2:10:41[SPEAKER_03]: Also, also in 26.
- 2:10:44[SPEAKER_03]: He is, but yeah, it feels like they're they're definitely going the grounded angle with this vitamin, but yeah, and Hulk, we should say it's going to be in Spider-Man 2.
- 2:10:54[SPEAKER_03]: That was just a announced.
- 2:10:55[SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
- 2:10:57[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
- 2:10:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's going exciting.
- 2:10:59[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 2:11:00[SPEAKER_03]: And then the final show in the MCU that's currently planned or announced for 2026, don't know when vision quest.
- 2:11:11[SPEAKER_07]: Super dupe hype.
- 2:11:13[SPEAKER_03]: I am super dupely, scallotically.
- 2:11:20[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, it's a final part of the quote unquote trilogy with Wanda Vision and Agatha all along.
- 2:11:27[SPEAKER_03]: A different show around her this time.
- 2:11:29[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:11:31[SPEAKER_03]: Those are two of my favorite shows.
- 2:11:34[SPEAKER_03]: So let's see what they bring and how it ties in with.
- 2:11:40[SPEAKER_03]: What's come before?
- 2:11:41[SPEAKER_03]: Awesome.
- 2:11:43[SPEAKER_03]: We know it just filmed, so it's coming, it's coming folks.
- 2:11:49[SPEAKER_03]: And then we've got the multi-versal animations, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man season two is coming sometime in 2026 season three, is already green lit, set in a different universe, also set in a different universe, X-Men 97 season two.
- 2:12:04[SPEAKER_03]: Again, we're supposed to get it in 2026, and season three is already green lit.
- 2:12:11[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not mentioning shows for young children, like Moon Girl, or Spidey and Friends.
- 2:12:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's all outside, the 616.
- 2:12:19[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man could tie into the secret war's doomsday thing, but I think X-Men 97 definitely not.
- 2:12:29[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I don't see either one of them tying in, but I want to be mad if they did, and yeah, I'm looking forward to both of these season tools because they were very good animation series.
- 2:12:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:12:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm looking forward to them as their own thing.
- 2:12:46[SPEAKER_03]: I could see just because it feels like I still want Coleman Domingo to show up in the 616.
- 2:12:53[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 2:12:56[SPEAKER_03]: Well, anything else you want to shout out which you're looking forward to in phase six?
- 2:13:01[SPEAKER_03]: What are you most looking forward to out of all of phase six?
- 2:13:04[SPEAKER_07]: But I'm most looking forward to a secret was.
- 2:13:08[SPEAKER_03]: OK, yeah.
- 2:13:09[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, we think that's been announced as secret was.
- 2:13:13[SPEAKER_07]: because I think it's going to number one, I love the story and from the comics I was very interested to see how I was adapted.
- 2:13:23[SPEAKER_07]: And then number two, I just liked that it's going to, I believe, set up a brand new universe for these stories to be told in, so yeah, secret was.
- 2:13:39[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I'm most looking forward to?
- 2:13:45[SPEAKER_03]: You already know he's shaking his head midnight suns.
- 2:13:48[SPEAKER_03]: I believe in midnight suns.
- 2:13:50[SPEAKER_03]: It's coming It's coming We can't even get a blade I mean, but I think this is what I keep saying.
- 2:13:59[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're gonna introduce blade in midnight suns Okay, all right, and then take it from there
- 2:14:07[SPEAKER_03]: All right, well, next up, as we said, Isaac Wakanda, already out, you can watch it now.
- 2:14:13[SPEAKER_03]: You'll hear us talk about it in a much shorter episode.
- 2:14:17[SPEAKER_03]: Next week, and then, next up after that, will be weekly coverage of Peace Maker with Aaron, Radioactive Ramlings.
- 2:14:24[SPEAKER_03]: First episode drops.
- 2:14:25[SPEAKER_03]: August 21st, but we're talking about doing a season one recap before that.
- 2:14:30[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 2:14:32[SPEAKER_03]: Um, peacemakers season two is going to be eight episodes, weekly coverage, I've own rewatching season one, and it still delights me, especially vigilante, and eagerly, of course.
- 2:14:45[SPEAKER_03]: Um, also starting in August, David is leading weekly coverage of Alien Earth.
- 2:14:50[SPEAKER_03]: Luke and I are going to be on the first episode of that, talking about the first two episodes, release next week.
- 2:14:55[SPEAKER_06]: That's great.
- 2:14:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm looking for it to that.
- 2:14:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's, I'm, no, a holly is he did Legion, which is one of my favorite shows of all time.
- 2:15:03[SPEAKER_03]: So great show.
- 2:15:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I can't wait to see what he's done with this.
- 2:15:07[SPEAKER_03]: The trailer is so great.
- 2:15:09[SPEAKER_07]: It's such a good show.
- 2:15:11[SPEAKER_07]: Under scene.
- 2:15:12[SPEAKER_07]: Under scene.
- 2:15:14[SPEAKER_03]: Everyone watch Legion.
- 2:15:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's Marvel.
- 2:15:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's relevant.
- 2:15:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:15:17[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 2:15:18[SPEAKER_03]: And of course, a foundation season three coverage is ongoing with John and Marilyn, um, yeah, I'm, I'm into the season.
- 2:15:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm enjoying it.
- 2:15:28[SPEAKER_07]: I hate the meal.
- 2:15:29[SPEAKER_03]: I hate the meal.

- 2:16:41[SPEAKER_03]: I went deep on heat okay it's not my film but I learned everything that I could about it and even I even read the sequel book.
- 2:16:50[SPEAKER_07]: Nice I have not read the sequel book.
- 2:16:52[SPEAKER_07]: So that's great.
- 2:16:54[SPEAKER_07]: But I've seen the movie like at least 50 times.
- 2:16:59[SPEAKER_03]: It has a strong ending.
- 2:17:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'll give it that.
- 2:17:02[SPEAKER_07]: It's minimum 50.
- 2:17:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's like me watching the other man.
- 2:17:07[SPEAKER_03]: It's not like for, I'm openly, I'm a feminist type.
- 2:17:13[SPEAKER_03]: No shame about that.
- 2:17:14[SPEAKER_03]: It is not a movie for that because there are no female characters who are not victims and sex workers.
- 2:17:23[SPEAKER_03]: that is absolutely true but anyway it's going to be fun to talk about especially after talking about French connection recently because there's a lot of similarities and ties.

- 2:17:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's coming close to the ends where it's like a six degrees of Kevin Bacon kind of, but they did a whole listen to the draft episode.
