- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: And that's got to hit a celebrity news. What are
- 0:04Speaker 2: you following?
- 0:05Speaker 1: So you know that old actor, Michael Douglas, who was in,
- 0:07Speaker 1: his biggest movies were, I've seen none of them, but
- 0:09Speaker 1: they're all names I know. It's like Wall Street, Fatal Attraction,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Basic Instinct. So he was a big actor back in
- 0:17Speaker 1: the day. He's also been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones for
- 0:19Speaker 1: 26 years.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:20Speaker 1: So he was on Joe Rogan's podcast, and he was
- 0:23Speaker 1: talking about he and his good mate Danny DeVito way
- 0:26Speaker 1: back in the day. They were only 19 at the time,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and they got pulled over by the cops, but the
- 0:30Speaker 1: problem is they had some joints, some weed in the
- 0:33Speaker 1: back seat, and they were, like, freaked out, knew they
- 0:36Speaker 1: were going to get in trouble, and this is what
- 0:38Speaker 1: they did to try and get out of it. Take
- 0:40Speaker 1: a look.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I was going to the concert, and I made a
- 0:43Speaker 3: left turn, and all of a sudden, I almost was
- 0:45Speaker 3: there by car, and all of a sudden, bloop. but
- 0:49Speaker 3: you can see the red lights are going and I go,
- 0:51Speaker 3: oh man. I remember when I got back into the
- 0:54Speaker 3: car and Danny was with me and we had a
- 0:59Speaker 3: few joints and Danny was in the back seat and
- 1:02Speaker 3: I just looked at him and said, where's the grass?
- 1:06Speaker 3: And Danny smiled. All his mouth was entirely this green mung.
- 1:13Speaker 3: He swallowed all of them, you know.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Down the hatch.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Because weed's legal in America now, right?
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it wouldn't have been back then.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But back in the day it wouldn't have been, right? No,
- 1:22Speaker 1: that was only like in the past ten years that
- 1:24Speaker 1: it's been legalised. And I don't think it's every American
- 1:27Speaker 1: state still. Oh, there's certain states. But it definitely is
- 1:29Speaker 1: in California now, yeah. Also, Miley Cyrus. Now, have you
- 1:32Speaker 1: guys ever been to LA and ever been to Skid Row?
- 1:34Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I've been past it.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Skid Row is like very eye-opening because it's like you've
- 1:40Speaker 1: got LA and people think of LA as like Hollywood
- 1:42Speaker 1: and all the really nice parts.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Then you've got the other side. I think it's called
- 1:46Speaker 1: Downtown LA or something like that. But basically Skid Row
- 1:50Speaker 1: is this strip of like, and it's hundreds and hundreds,
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'd even say thousands of homeless people. And yeah, and
- 1:56Speaker 1: they're just everywhere and the streets are covered with them.
- 1:59Speaker 1: There's a lot of crime there and stuff like that.
- 2:01Speaker 6: The fancinal crisis has been big there. They're like kind of.
- 2:04Speaker 6: Walk around like zombies.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Oh, and they like pass out folded in half. It's
- 2:08Speaker 1: really confronting. But I went there because it's right near
- 2:11Speaker 1: Laker Stadium where they play basketball. So I've seen it and, yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 1: it's dire. So now Miley Cyrus' charity, the Miley Cyrus Foundation,
- 2:20Speaker 1: has pledged $ 1 million to build what they're calling Rose's Place.
- 2:24Speaker 1: It's a 97-apartment supportive housing development for women and survivors
- 2:28Speaker 1: of homelessness, particularly for that Skid Row area. Yeah, that's incredible.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But Miley's doing a bit of the block thing because
- 2:34Speaker 1: her and her mum Tish are going to help renovate
- 2:36Speaker 1: the rooms itself and design the interior and stuff like that.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So she's very hands-on with the project. It's not like
- 2:41Speaker 1: she's just funding it and going, deal with this.
- 2:43Speaker 2: So those homeless women that are around there could end
- 2:45Speaker 2: up with accommodation.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Because that's the thing. A lot of women end up
- 2:48Speaker 1: homeless because they've escaped DV and things like that.
- 2:50Speaker 4: That's incredible from Miley. Imagine if everyone over in Hollywood,
- 2:53Speaker 4: all the big... A-list celebrities just donated a meal.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Or even like your Elon Musk. Look how much money
- 2:59Speaker 2: the guy's worth.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 6: If he actually did something good with it. What about
- 3:02Speaker 6: that chick who won that $ 100 million?
- 3:04Speaker 2: Let's call her up.
- 3:05Speaker 1: When's the last time you guys donated to charity? Hey,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I donate to charity all the time. Do you round
- 3:09Speaker 1: up at the cash register? You know when they go,
- 3:11Speaker 1: do you want to do $ 2? I donate every single
- 3:13Speaker 1: time I go to Woolies. Do you? On the round up. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: to Oz Harvest.
- 3:17Speaker 2: What about when they ask you, though?
- 3:19Speaker 6: There's some pet store or something I've been in, and
- 3:21Speaker 6: as you're paying, they're like, oh, do you want to
- 3:23Speaker 6: give money to the dying sick animals?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Every time I go to Cotonon, there's mental health. I
- 3:28Speaker 1: give the $ 3. Yeah, anywhere they ask me, I say yes.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Do you know when sometimes you buy online as well
- 3:35Speaker 1: and at the end it goes part of your purchase
- 3:37Speaker 1: is going to go and you get to pick which one?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I like that.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I like that as well.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I don't like the upselling of it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Do you not round up in Woolworths?
- 3:44Speaker 3: No.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I don't think it's considered upselling when it's for charity
- 3:48Speaker 1: because they're not making any sort of profit. That's not
- 3:50Speaker 1: an upsell. It just makes me feel bad.
- 3:52Speaker 2: You feel like a prick if you say no.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I don't say yes every time. And do people still
- 3:57Speaker 1: stand in shopping centres and approach you? Because I never
- 4:00Speaker 1: speak to those people. I don't trust them. People still
- 4:03Speaker 1: door knock. I don't trust those people either.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Oh, the door knockers.
- 4:06Speaker 6: Yeah, no, there is actually that shopping centre near where
- 4:08Speaker 6: you live, Nat. There's one frequently out the front. But
- 4:11Speaker 6: I think they're selling like... kids karate classes.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Well and there's just a dodgy bucket with like a
- 4:16Speaker 1: little hole in the top for coins and stuff and
- 4:19Speaker 1: i'm like are you really passing that on how does
- 4:21Speaker 1: anyone else know how much you made today i.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Gotta say big ups to the people that have to
- 4:25Speaker 6: do it though because that's a hard job you know
- 4:27Speaker 6: you walk through the city and people are trying to approach.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But those people aren't volunteers they get paid.
- 4:31Speaker 2: They get paid yeah and it's a.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Lot of um travelers like overseas people who come and
- 4:35Speaker 4: that that's the easiest job for them there's a job
- 4:38Speaker 4: so many available I reckon he could do that.
- 4:40Speaker 1: The pom works here.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Are you going to fire him? You're safe, the pom.
- 4:45Speaker 1: It's okay. For one, I'm the boss today and then
- 4:47Speaker 1: I'm not the boss anymore. So beyond that, I don't know.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Oh, you could fire him today then.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Nah, I like him.
- 4:52Speaker 6: When you're done here, you could do that. I would
- 4:55Speaker 6: find that here, who here could do that? You know,
- 4:58Speaker 6: the approaching, oh, can I stop.
- 5:00Speaker 2: You and tell you about.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Oh, I can't.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I put my earphones in and I give them a
- 5:04Speaker 4: wide berth.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but imagine having to actually do it. I don't
- 5:07Speaker 2: think I could.
- 5:08Speaker 1: It's the same thing as being like a salesperson who
- 5:11Speaker 1: has to cold call people. I could never do that either.
- 5:14Speaker 5: You know what you've got to do with the charity muggers?
- 5:16Speaker 3: Pardon?
- 5:16Speaker 5: You know what you have to do with the charity muggers?
- 5:18Speaker 5: There's like a trick.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Charity muggers?
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yeah, the people that are like, hey, do you want
- 5:22Speaker 5: to sign up to this? They're not allowed to talk
- 5:24Speaker 5: to you if you're under like 28 for some reason.
- 5:26Speaker 5: It's a really high age. So if you just say
- 5:28Speaker 5: you're 21, they'll ignore you.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but I'm a realist.
- 5:33Speaker 4: I'm actually 25 and they're like, bullshit.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Are you sure that's in Australia? Because I definitely used
- 5:40Speaker 1: to get approached when I was in my early 20s.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Yeah, it's only a thing in Australia. They're always like,
- 5:45Speaker 5: how old are you? And I'm like, 26. And they're like, oh, sorry,
- 5:47Speaker 5: we can't.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Talk to you.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 5:49Speaker 5: Really?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Why 28?
- 5:50Speaker 2: No idea. You can also try the, sorry, I don't
- 5:54Speaker 2: speak English.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Whilst speaking English, just say it.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I don't speak a D English. Problem solved.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Done.
