- 0:12Hello friends, it's Sean here and it's a Friday.
- 0:15Congratulations, you've made it through the end of another week
- 0:20and we are going to do what we always do on a Friday, which is
- 0:23read some proverbs together. Except it's not just me, you
- 0:28know. Backed by popular demand is the
- 0:31wonderful Yvonne. Hello.
- 0:32Everyone, I'm back. Every time I see people, they
- 0:36go, oh, Sean, I love the podcast.
- 0:39I really loved it. When you read with Yvonne, you
- 0:41know, she was just wonderful. So we were chatting this morning
- 0:46and we decided, what if we share Friday readings?
- 0:50And Yvonne said yes, she'll do that because today she got
- 0:53accosted with like multiple people saying how much they
- 0:56loved hearing from her. And how do you, in the face of
- 1:00such adulation, say anything other than sure, I'd love to?
- 1:04They were very kind. So sure you'd love to.
- 1:08So here we are. We are going to read the
- 1:11proverbs together and then reflect on them.
- 1:14You ready? I am.
- 1:17Let's do it. Let us read together Proverbs
- 1:2018, 1:00 to 6:00. Unfriendly people care only
- 1:35about themselves. They lash out at common sense.
- 1:39Fools have no interest in understanding, they only want to
- 1:44air their own opinions. Doing wrong leads to disgrace
- 1:52and scandalous behaviour brings contempt.
- 1:57Wise words are like deep waters. Wisdom flows from the wise like
- 2:02a bubbling brook. It is not right to acquit the
- 2:08guilty or deny justice to the innocent.
- 2:13Fool's words get them into constant quarrels.
- 2:17They are asking for a beating. And again.
- 2:25Unfriendly people care only about themselves.
- 2:29They lash out at common sense. Fools have no interest in
- 2:36understanding, they only want to air their own opinions.
- 2:41Doing wrong leads to disgrace and scandalous behaviour brings
- 2:46contempt. Wise words are like deep waters.
- 2:53Wisdom flows from the wise like a bubbling brook.
- 2:58It is not right to acquit the guilty or deny justice to the
- 3:02innocent. Fool's words get them into
- 3:07constant quarrels. They are asking for a beating.
- 3:21So which one of those proverbs resonated with you, Yvonne?
- 3:24Oh, I I liked the wise words. I like deep waters.
- 3:32Just thinking that this, yeah, just the hidden depths of the of
- 3:38the deep and just thinking you have this wisdom that comes
- 3:42forth from a deep understanding. And that kind of ties in with
- 3:47the other one, which is fools have no interest in
- 3:49understanding. They only want to air their own
- 3:51opinions. It's like this, this waffling
- 3:54busyness, as opposed to that deep well, that deep waters of
- 3:58wisdom. Should we pray about it?
- 4:05Holy Spirit, we need your wisdom, and let your wisdom
- 4:10still our hearts and let you be that depth in us, not of our own
- 4:15wisdom, but your wisdom, which is much less about the things
- 4:20that we say defending our own opinions, but about resting in
- 4:25you and knowing our identity in you and the peace and the
- 4:32generosity and the love that we can share from that place of
- 4:38security in our identity with you.
- 4:42So we thank you for all that you've done for us.
- 4:44We thank you for who you make us our identity as your beloved
- 4:50children. We love you right back.
- 4:53And we pray all of this in your wonderful name, Jesus.
- 4:56I'm in.
