- 0:05SPEAKER_02: This is The Opinionated Ogre Podcast,
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: your weekly rampage through current events with a little snark,
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: a bit of foul language, and a lot of strong opinions.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: There are new episodes every Thursday.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: They're not safe for work or polite company of any kind whatsoever.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: I am your podcast host,
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: The Opinionated Ogre,
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: and this is my co-hosts, Florida woman and her little one, Nathan.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: Hello, Florida woman and Nathan.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Hello.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Say hi, Nathan.
- 0:28Hi.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Hi.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, my God.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: You know,
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: I didn't prepare anything humorous here,
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: but I guess we just have Nathan bouncing up and down in the background.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: So I guess that'll have to do for today.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: Parenting.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: This is the recording for September 3rd, 2026.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: And we have a lot to get to on episode 112 of the Ogpod.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: We ready to do this?
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Apparently, Nathan is ready to do it with us.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Woohoo!
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: All right, then let's get to it.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: It's time for the Ogre Nation news update.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Everyone knows by now, presumably, that we are in a new and very damaging trade war with Canada.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: This is aside from the other trade war that we were already in,
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: and now this is a whole brand new one that is kicking in, and it's awesome, amazing.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Trump threw another one of his temper tantrums and slapped a 50% tariff on tens
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: of billions of dollars in goods coming across the border.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: Like most of his tariffs,
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: this one's going to turn out to be illegal because I'm
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: a big fat blubbering baby is not And Congress did not give him permission
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: to levy tariffs on Canada.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Canada, of course, retaliated with their own tariffs.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Yay.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: The press,
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: like I just mentioned,
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: did an amazing job of not really explaining why Canada walked away at
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: the last minute.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: It's something that just happened.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Negotiations just fell through and these things happen.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Oh, well.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: But that's not what happened at all.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: There was a deal negotiated after weeks of threats from Trump.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: It wasn't a great deal, but it was a deal.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: But what happened was,
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: right before they were getting ready to sign,
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: the regime slapped on a list of demands.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: And the thought process,
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: presumably,
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: was that Canada would be exhausted after 18 months of bullying and bullshit
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: after bullshit and all this crap, and they would just comply.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: But they didn't, and they couldn't.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: So here's the list.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: It was helpfully explained on Substack by Dean
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: This is what was on this list of demands.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: One, control over who Canada trades with.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Canada,
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: since we've become a super unreliable trading partner and the regime has gone out
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: of its fucking mind.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Two, Canada, if you're not aware of this already, has a whole dual language thing going on.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: What is it?
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: Quebec, right?
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Quebec is one of the provinces and provinces are like their versions of states.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Quebec is mainly French speaking.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: So everything that gets published in Canada,
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: like by the government is in English and French, right?
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: So they've got a real like, you know, like a lot of people here speak English.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Sorry, they speak Spanish.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Same idea, except it's actually codified in the law.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Wait a second.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: English and French.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Well, I know that because Bill learned French before he went to the F1 race.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: But we were trying to demand that another country end its dual language.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: They told Canada,
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: the regime told Canada that whole dual French,
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: the dual language thing had to end.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Excuse me?
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: It's fucking crazy.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: Number three, Canada has a huge auto industry.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Surprise.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: And theirs is...
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Deeply intertwined with ours, right?
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: We'll see you next time.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: When this all started,
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: a lot of Canada just said, yeah, we're not buying American alcohol anymore.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: They just boycotted American spirits, you know, like American whiskey and scotch and all that.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: They've been hit really hard because it's been just taken off the shelves.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Your face just disappeared in bright light.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: What happened there?
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: Okay, so, yeah,
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: so the regime said, yeah, no,
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: if we tell you you have to buy our stuff,
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: you have to buy it,
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: even at the provincial level, which, like, that's not how that works.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Canada has massive mineral rights, massive mineral rights.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, Putin is so good.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was okay.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: We finally had some.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: And Canada wasn't allowed to retaliate.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Can I just say how absolutely fucking absurd this is?
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Because he's the one who negotiated the last trade deal.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: The USMCA was his trade deal.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And now he's saying, oh, that trade deal is shit.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Bitch, you negotiated it.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: And that's the thing, right?
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: So this wasn't a trade deal.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: This is what a country signs when it loses a war.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is crazy stuff.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: And that's why Canada's Prime Minister, Mark Carney, told Trump to go fuck himself.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: And this is why Trump is having his little temper tantrum and he's,
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: you know, the whole Lake America thing.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: This was an imbecile move that's going to drive inflation up right before
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: the midterms on everyday items.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: And Carney is going to target,
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: he said, He said it, and so has Doug Ford, who's the guy in charge of Ontario.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: They're going to target red states and swing states the most because they need...
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: No, that's where you apply the pressure.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: Carney is a professional economist before he became prime minister,
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: and he's way smarter than fucking Trump,
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: and he knows where to cause maximum pain from MAGA land
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: because he understands how this works.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: And for their part, Canada's just trolling Trump now.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: They put up a giant Lake Ontario sign.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: I wish I'd seen it, but I'm not going now.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure Trump is going to order an even bigger, more masculine Lake America sign.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: It's going to cost like $500 million,
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: and the first snowstorm is going to knock it down
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: because everything Trump does is bullshit.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: Now, We were talking about this on the show.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: I'm going to put on my tinfoil hat here for a minute.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: It's true that Trump hates every single one of our allies,
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: and he loves any country that has a violent and brutal dictator in charge.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: But he seems to I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: He's been told to hate Canada.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: And I said,
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: even back during the first Trump regime,
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: that if we were forced to flee the United States,
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: like me and my family, and people were talking about this, people are still talking.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: If we had to flee the country because the fascists won,
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: if we fell to a fascist dictatorship and they solidified power,
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Canada would not be safe.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: You'd think it would be safe.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: It's over the border.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: You can get there.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: You can But it won't be.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: At best, it would be a stop before fleeing to Europe.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: This is what you need to understand.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: To a fascist American government,
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: Canada represents the same kind of combination threats That's true.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: Canada and Ukraine is free and open compared to our repressive
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: and increasingly authoritarian dystopia.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: It also has a lot of natural resources that we can exploit and a vastly inferior military.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: At least that's what Russia thought until they tried it.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: They fucked around and found out.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: But The American military would definitely crush Canada's military.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: I mean, let's be honest here.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: To a fascist dictator,
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Canada is a prize to be taken and used,
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: but it's also a threat that shows how weak and corrupt our government.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: Why are we the richest country in the world with bread lines five miles away?
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: The answer,
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: of course,
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: is that Canada has a functioning democracy and we have an oligarchy run
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: by fucking pedophiles.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: Allowing that contrast to continue year after year after year will inevitably lead
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: to people streaming over the border and Canada is a threat to the fascist project
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: the right.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: Canada is an enemy.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: And what I think we're seeing here is the beginning of the process to create
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: an antagonist relationship that in several years, President for Life J.D.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Vance will have no choice between...
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: I know, that sounds fucking crazy.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: But this is where I remind you of the news story from January that
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: the Legacy Press just made vanish already.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: We learned that officials from the Trump regime had been meeting
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: with far-right separatists in Alberta, one of Canada's provinces.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: The meetings were done in secret, but this is literally exactly the same thing That's right.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: I wrote this out over the last couple of days, right?
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: I put this in notes the last couple of days.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: And what should pop up this morning but a poll from the new economist YouGov
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: from August 21st to 31st,
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: August 28th to 31st, they polled people on What they think about Canada.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: And up, wouldn't you know it, here's the headline.
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: A growing share of Republicans view Canada as unfriendly or an enemy of the United States.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: From 2021, that was at like 7%.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: Now, it's up to 38%.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: That's a huge jump.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's up to 38 fucking percent.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Democrats, I mean, it's still pretty much the same.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: It's like somewhere between six and eight percent because,
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: I don't know, some Democrats don't like Canada, I guess.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: But it's been pretty much stable, doesn't it?
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: Remember, Republicans used to hate Russia.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Russia was the enemy.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: And then Trump told them, Russia's our best friend.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Most Republicans love Russia now.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: Most Republican voters love Russia.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: They think Russia's awesome.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: Even though Russia is,
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: a fascist dictatorship that is literally waging war against our country,
- 13:54SPEAKER_02: Trump told them, love Russia, so they didn't.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: Now Trump is telling them, hate Canada.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: And he's just creating all of this antagonism towards a country that was just like,
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: what are you doing?
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: We're like your biggest financial fucking ally.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: We're with you every step of the way.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: Why are you fucking targeting us?
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Because they have to create that relationship or destroy that relationship in order
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: to justify down the road someday a military intervention,
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: just like Russia did with Ukraine.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: So, but you know what?
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: I'm sure I'm just being hysterical because nothing I've ever said about the right
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: over the last 16 years has ever come to pass except almost all of it.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: So I'm sure there's nothing to worry about here.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: I actually have seen this in action because I have a lot of,
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: obviously I have a lot of family and friends up north.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Since I'm from Niagara Falls, I'm literally from a border town.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: And one of my family friends literally put Lake America the other day on his Facebook page.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: And I almost put you fucking traitor underneath it.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Like, you're literally, you live on Lake Ontario.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: What are you doing?
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: But I was like, leave it alone.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: It's just a fucking cult.
- 15:15SPEAKER_02: Leave it alone.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: When they start telling us about how Canada is being overrun with Nazis,
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: you know that's where they're going with this.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: I will say, though.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: Give it a couple years, they will.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I will say, though,
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: the majority of the people that I've seen in the local groups in Niagara Falls
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: and Buffalo are all like, what the fuck are we doing?
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Why are we messing with Canada?
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Because for them, it's a very friendly relationship.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: They live on the border.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Canadians come over here to shop and work.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Americans go over there.
- 15:49SPEAKER_02: It's Right, but you got all the brain dead MAGA in Texas and Florida.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: That's the thing.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: It's like,
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: oh yeah,
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: we're definitely going to have to send a National Guard over there to take care of
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: the Canadians.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: You know how dangerous they are.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: They send fentanyl over the border.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: Remember that?
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: That whole, yeah, Canada's a huge source of fentanyl.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: It's like, what are you fucking talking about?
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: There's tons of fentanyl coming in from other parts of the world.
- 16:15SPEAKER_02: Canada's like a suitcase worth of fentanyl.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: What are you even talking about?
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's what we're talking about.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Civil rights protections,
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: destroyed the Department of Education,
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: which then cuts key services for kids who have IEPs and 504s.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Like, hello, I'm homeschooling my son who has a disability.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: He's cut key services and support.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: And most recently,
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: they're talking about making changes to a rule that will cause countless people
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: to lose their Supplemental Security Income Benefits, SSI.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: So SSI provides indigent elderly people and the disabled with That's a good thing.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Less than $1,000 a month is not enough to support yourself in America these days.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: So they continue to live with their parents.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: In this economy, elderly people have also moved in with their children.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: And according to ProPublica,
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: those who still live at home will soon be That's really impressive.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Up to 400,000 Americans could lose some or all of their SSI if the rule goes into effect.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Russell Vogt's White House Office of Budget Management is currently reviewing the rule.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: The regime is, of course, denying the reporting.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: That means it's true.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: However, the attempt to reduce or end support for the disabled and elderly isn't new.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Last year,
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: Vote and the Social Security Administration abandoned another rule
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: that would have dramatically reduced disability benefits after the media reported
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: about it and revealed that it would mostly impact blue-collar workers in red states.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: Because they don't even care about their own people.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: They really don't.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: They hate them more than anyone else.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: But they didn't like the reporting, so they got rid of the rule.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: Hmm.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: Now, anyone who's been reading,
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: reading what everything I've written or just following us on the podcast for a
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: while knows I have a disabled adult son, right?
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: Jordan's 18 now.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: And he's never going to be able to take care of himself.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: He's never going to be able to earn a living.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: He's going to, for the rest of his life,
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: This rule change won't affect him yet,
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: because it's going to be years before he can access Medicaid or disability
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: of any kind.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: But this is just...
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: That's the next step in the Republican project to strip all government assistance
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: from the elderly and people like Jordan.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: Scumfuck dirtbags like Vote will say they're shifting the burden to states, but they know.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: They fail.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: They're going to be left homeless.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: They'll go hungry.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: They'll die.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: And that's what they want.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: This is not about
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Money.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Vogt will sign every blank check to give Trump unlimited money for stupid Trump shit.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: He will masturbate as he gives the military another half trillion fucking dollars.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: This is not about money.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: This is about culling the herd.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: This is eugenics through paperwork.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: The sick and the old and the disabled deserve to die because these people are fucking Nazis.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: And when this regime falls, and it will, Nuremberg them all.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: They all have to be fucking put on trial.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: All of them.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: We are going to move on.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Here is a helpful list put together by NBC of all the foods
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: that will currently make you sick and or kill you.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: We'll have the link in the show notes.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: Lettuce will give you explosive diarrhea.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: I've been trying.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: I haven't gotten it yet.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Trying to lose at 25 pounds.
- 20:51SPEAKER_02: Jalapenos,
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Salmonella,
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: Frozen Blueberries and Berry Mixes, E. Coli,
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Alfalfa Sprouts, E.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: Coli and Salmonella,
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: Eggs, Salmonella, Outshine Fruit Bars, Possible Glass Contamination.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Oh, no.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: Amy's Lentil Soup.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: It's going bad early, so don't need it.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: Lido Asian Style Wax Spice Mix.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Salmonella.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: Walmart Tomato Bisque.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: Listeria.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: Pita Rabbit Organic Fruit Pouches.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Plastic Contaminated.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: No fucking way.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Not the kid.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: The kid fruit pouches?
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: Apparently the pouches are falling apart and strips of plastic are getting in there.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Well made.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Walmart Pistachio Nut Butter.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: Salmonella.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Leto Shortbread Cookies.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: Now, this isn't a contamination exactly,
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: but it has no English ingredients listed,
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: so it's a danger to people with food allergies.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: It has wheat, soy, eggs, and milk.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: Lactation granola.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: Salmonella.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, so maybe you can get salmonella and then give it to your baby.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Through the breast milk.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that actually happens, but.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: Food to live greens, food to live greens powder, salmonella.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: Buddy, what can we eat?
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: Well, beef is still, you still have the screwworm problem.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: Bird flu keeps pumping up and it's getting that much closer to human transmission.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: Looking forward to that.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: Back in April, we stopped safety inspections for grade A milk and milk products.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: So I'm sure nothing bad is going to happen there.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: We crippled all of the agencies and programs that kept this stuff in check,
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: and we did it on purpose.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: On top of all that, we have the worst measles outbreak in 30 years, and it's still going on.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: It's still getting worse.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: Children are dying, and we're pretending it's not because of measles, like literally.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: We're actually literally pretending it wasn't the measles that killed them.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Polio spreading again.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: And it won't be long before a dozen other diseases our parents
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: and grandparents lived in mortal fear of tearing through elementary schools
- 22:52SPEAKER_02: and graveyards begin to fill up with little tiny tombstones
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: in numbers we haven't seen since before the pandemic.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: We've done this before.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: We've been here.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: The free market doesn't regulate a fucking thing.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: These current food problems are all the results of accidents and cutting corners.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Now, if you're not familiar with food adulteration, allow me to inform you.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: We're really great in America.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Once upon a time, we sold bread by the pound, right?
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: It wasn't by a loaf.
- 23:49SPEAKER_02: It was by how much it weighed.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: You went and was like, I need a pound of bread.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: So you bought a pound of bread.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: There was an incentive to make the bread heavier.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: And how did they do that?
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: They would add sawdust to the bread or cement because that made it heavier.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: Meat was preserved because they didn't have refrigeration.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Meat was preserved with borax,
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: a toxic chemical that you may be familiar with because it's in laundry detergent
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: and you use it to kill roaches.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: That's what they put in your meat.
- 24:19SPEAKER_02: They put in All kinds of shit in milk to make one gallon into three gallons or
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: to hide the taste of spoiled milk.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, gross.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: It's like a drug dealer cutting the cocaine with the wrong thing.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: That's exactly what it was.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: This kind of murderous greed is explicitly why we created the FDA in 1906,
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: because you couldn't tell what was making you sick.
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: You had no idea.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: Was it the milk?
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Was it the eggs?
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: Was it the bread?
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: You didn't know.
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: So they say, oh, well, people will just figure out what's making you sick.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: How?
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: You don't know and no one's testing the food because the FDA didn't exist.
- 25:01SPEAKER_02: That's why we made it.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: China did not have a version of the FDA and in 2008,
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: 300,000 babies were poisoned by deliberately tainted milk.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: Oh, I remember when that happened.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: Six died and a whole lot of others were injured.
- 25:20SPEAKER_02: They got kidney damage.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: Permanent.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: They're screwed for life.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: China ended up executing two of the men responsible.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Here in America,
- 25:29SPEAKER_02: they would have gotten a small fine and a guest spot on Fox News to lecture us about
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: the big government overreach.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Libertarians scream about how they want to do away with government regulations.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: That's the entire point of Project 2025.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: Project 2025 is not like conservatism.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: It's libertarianism on steroids.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: This is what the COVID-19 And it's because they never understand why.
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: I've
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: argued with these people for 15 fucking years.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: They're morons.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: If you ask a libertarian about adulteration,
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: you could paint the Mona Lisa They don't know anything.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: They don't know history.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: They don't know what happened in this country.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: They don't know what happened 40 years ago.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: They don't know fucking anything.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: We're literally reliving America 120 years ago and pretending it's
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: a bold new experiment in small government.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: That's like building a wheel out of stone
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: and pretending you discovered transportation or you You're putting a seed in
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: the dirt and saying, I have discovered agriculture.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: No, you didn't.
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: None of this is new.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: It's only new to stupid people whose goal is to destroy the federal government
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: so they can profit from the chaos and misery.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: Fuck your libertarianism.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: Bring back fucking government that actually works for the people,
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: not so corporations and billionaires can make more money while we die.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: So fuck off.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: Well, before we move on to our next section,
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: if you'd like to throw us a small tip,
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: the QR codes for both PayPal and Venmo are up on the screen.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: We have no sponsors or advertisers and probably never will because Ogre is, you know.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: What?
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: No.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: I'm perfectly fine.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: What?
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: I'm definitely pro-corporation.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: Send me money.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: So we appreciate anything that you can send our way
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: and our college students would too,
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: because boy, they are sucking the life out of us.
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: It's what they do.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: It's what they do.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: And on to our next segment, I scream, you scream.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: We all scream because of fucking ice.
- 28:03SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 28:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, actually, sorry, before we even do that, MLR has a good point there.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: Remember,
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: one of the project goals of Project 2025 is to drop the population of the country
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: from 360 million to 100 billion.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: You can't get to that just from deportations.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: There's not enough people to deport.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: There's not that many non-white people to get rid of.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: You have to do that through partial genocide.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: You have to.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: You know, calling the herd.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Feeling good, feeling good.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: They started that with COVID.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: Speaking of little Nazi shits,
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: once upon a time,
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: there was a little Nazi cosplaying piece of filth named Greg Bovino.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: Bovino loved being a Substack, Substack, The Opinionated Ogre, opinionatedogre.com.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Now, he's doing what every fascist scumbag does when they find themselves disgraced
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: and facing probable legal action.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: He's in full grifting mode and making the rounds on far-right media, telling
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: Sad, sad tale of victimization during an interview
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: with his fellow white nationalist fascist, Tucker Carlson.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Because you see,
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: Bovino is just following orders and now that he's been fired,
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: Trump has removed his protective detail because it's obvious
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: the regime wants him murdered.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: He's the victim here.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: Don't you know that?
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: It's not like no one knows why Bovino would get a protective detail
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: after being pushed out of the government.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: No one else gets that.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: But Bovino skips over that part, of course, because it doesn't fit the victim narrative.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: We talked about back in June that Bovino is contemplating a presidential run.
- 30:01SPEAKER_02: Please, please, dear God.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: I hope he did right next to the one that we right next to Hegseth.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: God, yes.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: And we talked about how the legacy press somehow didn't notice that he headlined at
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: an international conference of neo-Nazis in May.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: They just missed that somehow.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Didn't he literally travel to Europe for this?
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: And the press just didn't talk about it for some reason.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: Weird.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: Oh, weird.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, my gosh.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: This was right after he got pushed out.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: This was like not even a month later.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: And he was at a neo-Nazi conference and the press just didn't talk about it.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: What he's doing here is he's appealing to the conspiracy melted brains of the far right.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: Everything's applied.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: Everyone's out to get them.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: You can't trust the government,
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: even when the government's being run by the literal fucking fascists they voted for.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: But you can't.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: Trust Greg Bovino.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: Trust him with your money and maybe even your votes.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: He's an outsider taking on the corrupt system, blah, blah, fucking blah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: They're always the outsider taking on the establishment,
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: even when they were quite literally the very public nonstop.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: Substack, The Opinionated Ogre, opinionatedogre.com.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: Trust them with money and power,
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: and they'll take on the swamp that they were in charge of five fucking seconds ago.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: It's the fucking shamelessness of these people.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: That's what pisses me off more than anything else.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: The shamelessness.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: And the legacy press's refusal to hold them accountable for
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: a single fucking thing they've ever done.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: We can hear about Hillary's fucking emails for two goddamn years nonstop.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: We can hear all about Joe Biden being old every fucking day.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: But when Bovino runs for president,
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: I guarantee the press will not mention Renee Goode or Alex Petty more than a couple
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: of times before declaring that topic over and done with.
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: We have to talk about real issues now.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: Fuck all of these people.
- 32:08SPEAKER_02: Fuck every last one of them.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: Every single one of them.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Well, in funny news of the week,
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: the Trump regime deported former Breitbart writer Mile Yiannopoulos...
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: Milo was arrested by ICE agents at an airport in Louisiana on Thursday.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: He was sent to a facility in Louisiana where the regime had sent thousands
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: of other migrants after ripping them away from their families.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: It was the last stopping point for migrants.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: Sunday, DHS had confirmed that he had been deported.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: So unlike thousands of other migrants,
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: he wasn't held in horrible conditions for months and months and months and months
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: and months.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: He was deported really, really fast.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: And he wasn't sent to a third-party country.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: He was sent right back home to England.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: For those of you who may not remember, Milo and I had forgotten why we hated him so much.
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: It's been a while since he's been like on name.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Milo is a vile, racist,
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: white supremacist piece of shit who spent years spreading hate on the internet.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: Steve Bannon hired him to work for Breitbart back in 2014 as a tech.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: But he was a big part of Gamergate.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: He was one of the big names that got Gamergate together.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: He was one of the people who helped form the alt-right.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: No, he did help.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: And he even wrote a book about it.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: And then Steve Bannon took him under his sweaty wing.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, bleh.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: And he became a conservative star.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: He was insufferable.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, my gosh.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: He was one of those, like,
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: idiots who would just try to,
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: like, you know, get people on the left to say crazy things.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: And also, he just said shocking things to shock people because he was shocking.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: Right, because he was, like, a real First Amendment guy.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, my guy.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: And then in 2017,
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: he was fired from Breitbart when a video surfaced of him supporting
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: the relationships between older men and significantly younger boys.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: All right, so here's the thing about that.
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: If he had talked about this like a normal fucking person,
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: instead of trying to be shocking and edgy,
- 34:20SPEAKER_02: he probably wouldn't have gotten in trouble for it.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: What he was talking about is that...
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: There are a lot of young gay men.
- 34:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they call them twinks, right?
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: Well, not that.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: They're boys.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: They're underage.
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: They're young gay boys.
- 34:35SPEAKER_02: And they turn to older men.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: And the reason they do this,
- 34:39SPEAKER_02: and he talked about What happens is,
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: because our country is so fucking annoying and so stupid,
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: I mean, girls don't have it much easier,
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: but we're really vicious towards gay boys, like really vicious.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: Like we're brutally vicious towards gay boys that they have to stay in the closet
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: and And the only way they can express themselves at all is to find someone
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: who will accept them as gay boys, as just gay, period.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: And that tends to be older men who understand, yeah, I know what you're going through.
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: And they kind of take them in.
- 35:30SPEAKER_02: And yes, it's inappropriate, but it's what they're forced into.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: Well, I would argue that it's kind of similar.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: Like girls, we usually find older women to learn about things.
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: Yes, but not about sex necessarily.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: Not in a sexual way.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but about sex too.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but you don't actually have sex with them.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: No, you don't have sex with them.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: Are they having sex with these guys?
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, that is fucking inappropriate.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: And that's the thing.
- 35:59SPEAKER_02: But they're kind of forced into that because there's no other way for them to...
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: There's no other outlet.
- 36:05SPEAKER_02: And that was the point he was making.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: But he was being so, he was being an edgelord about it.
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: And he was saying,
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: it's like,
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: if we didn't,
- 36:14SPEAKER_02: he was trying to say,
- 36:14SPEAKER_02: it's like,
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: if we didn't force boys into this, then this wouldn't be what they have to do.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: But he couldn't be normal for following.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: He was trying to criticize society's treatment of gay boys
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: and ended up sounding like he was supporting pedophilia.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: Which you would think was fine with the right, considering everything we've learned.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: They like pedophilia, but not with boys.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Well, that's what I was going to say.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: Well, yes, TV says ancient Rome man-boy love.
- 37:13SPEAKER_02: Yes, kind of like that, but without, you know, he was making it grosser than it needed to be.
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: And it's still gross in that sense that,
- 37:22SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: it's an adult male with an underage kid,
- 37:26SPEAKER_02: but he was trying to say,
- 37:28SPEAKER_02: this is what they're forced into because of us, because of our society.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: And it was a larger point that he just,
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: He evaporated by being a fucking edgelord,
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: and he got nuked for it, and he deserved it because he was being gross about it.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, you know.
- 37:47SPEAKER_02: So I didn't feel any pity for him.
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: I understood his point.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: When I heard it,
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: I was like,
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: I hear what he's saying,
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: but the way he's saying it, yeah, no,
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: he deserved everything that happened to him because of the way he was putting it.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: So...
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: Well,
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: fuck him.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: So according to DHS, he was deported for overstaying his visa.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: Now, while we have no pity for the grifting hate monger,
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: it should be noted that Laura Loomer,
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: the crazed special friend of Donald Trump, is taking place.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: So let this be a lesson to MAGA land.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done for the regime.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: Mitch McConnell could tell you that.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: There's always someone better connected who can destroy your life with
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: a single phone call or tweet.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: There's always one social media post between you wearing the jack boot or having
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: the jack boot on your neck.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: So enjoy your fascist fucking government while you can.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: That's what you asked for.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: And I mentioned Mitch McConnell.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: Have we seen him yet?
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: Nope, that motherfucker's dead.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: He's either dead or he's just in a coma and they're just lying about it.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: It's definitely going to be a weekend at Bernie's situation when the Senate comes back.
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're just going to keep faking it.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: And it's really impressive how the legacy press is just not pursuing this story.
- 39:25SPEAKER_02: They're just not looking for him.
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: It's been almost three months at this point.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: We're getting towards three months and they're not looking for him.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: If that was a Democratic senator, they would be all over it.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: They would be nonstop.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: We want to know where he is.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: We want to know where he is.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: You have to know where he is.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: It's a scandal that we don't know where he is.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: It would be like the top headline.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: Every single day.
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: Every single day.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: But Republicans are not held to a lower standard.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: They're held to no standard at all.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 39:56SPEAKER_02: It is time for Headlines for Short Attention Spans.
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: We've talked about the Trump regime targeting journalists with subpoenas
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: on previous episodes of the podcast.
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: Recently, though,
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: reports have indicated the regime is actually using an obscure DHS provision
- 40:17SPEAKER_02: that deals with customs imports to try
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: The
- 40:28SPEAKER_02: law also requires the recipients of the summons to keep it secret,
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: and it doesn't require a judge to sign off,
- 40:34SPEAKER_02: allowing DHS to completely circumvent the legal system
- 40:37SPEAKER_02: that had previously thwarted their tents to get journalist data
- 40:40SPEAKER_02: from big tech companies.
- 40:42SPEAKER_02: Clearly, they're abusing this.
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: John Roth,
- 40:45SPEAKER_02: the former inspector general for the DHS under Obama,
- 40:47SPEAKER_02: told The Guardian the perversion of federal law by the Trump regime is,
- 40:51SPEAKER_02: quote, outrageous conduct on so many levels.
- 40:54SPEAKER_02: He went on to say, quote, this is an improper use of a subpoena.
- 40:57SPEAKER_02: Under any circumstances, this is not a customs case.
- 41:00SPEAKER_02: It's not a customs violation.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: They are not investigating a customs violation.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: And quick note to this story.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: Since this story broke, I,
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: because I do keep tabs on these assholes,
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: have yet to see either a comment from Glenn Greenwald or Matt Taibbi,
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: the super patriots who defend the free press against all threats
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: at great personal risk.
- 41:23SPEAKER_02: Greenwald's entire Twitter feed is a nonstop stream of pandering
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: to anti-Semitic white nationalists,
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: and Taibbi can't seem to stop attacking minorities.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: I'm sure they'll notice the regime's assault on the First Amendment sooner or later,
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: maybe on January 21st, 2029, but not one second before.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: It's funny because I was listening to Strict Scrutiny and they had a guest on
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: who also brought up Matt Taibbi and how he's been really,
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: really, really silent about the violations to the First Amendment.
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: And I started laughing.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, Ogre has a kindred soul out there.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: It's so weird, isn't it?
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: It's so weird.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: It used to be the most important thing in the world to him.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: And now he's just like, what's the First Amendment?
- 42:08SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: It's almost like he didn't care about it at all.
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: So weird.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, forgive me.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: I'm so sorry.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: So did everyone catch the news that Republicans are holding a midterm convention?
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: The first of its kind.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: Isn't that fucking bizarre?
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: First, they did mid-cycle redistricting.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: Now they're holding a convention for the midterms in Dallas.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: Wild.
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: Apparently, Trump convinced the Republican National Committee's head, who...
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: I don't even know who it is.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: I literally don't even know his name.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: Because it's Trump.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: Trump's the head of the Republican National Committee, so who cares?
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: Well, he convinced him to host the convention.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: Now the head of the RNC is calling it Trumpapalooza.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: Thank you for this generous gift,
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: Donald Trump.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: Nobody wants it, guys.
- 43:03SPEAKER_02: Democrats do.
- 43:03SPEAKER_02: Are you kidding me?
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: Well, bizarrely,
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: the convention is going to take place on September 9th and 10th,
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: which is the same night as the first two NFL games of the season.
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: Populism.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: They're populist.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: They know all about the common man.
- 43:18SPEAKER_02: It's what they're really into.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: The network that's showing the game on the 9th,
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: which is,
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: I believe, the Patriots and the Seahawks, is not going to cut away from the game.
- 43:30SPEAKER_02: Absolutely not.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: For the convention.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Absolutely not.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: So I would predict that the only people that are going to even cover
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: the convention are cable news shows.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: And not very much of it, except for Fox News.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: You know that they'll be right over there.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: One ball from each person in their mouth.
- 43:48SPEAKER_02: There's a good chance that Fox News won't talk about it much either because a lot
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: of Republicans, like remember, this is supposed to be the Republican convention.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: A lot of Republicans are already like, yeah, I don't know if I'm going.
- 44:01SPEAKER_02: I might be busy washing my hair that night because the They don't want to be there.
- 44:05SPEAKER_02: They don't want to be seen worshipping Trump right before the election.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: And that's exactly what it is.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: Trump wants people to go say nice things about him on stage,
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: and he's holding it in Dallas because he thinks it's going to get more votes for
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: the corrupt dingbat who's running for Senate there, Paxton.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, that's definitely not going to help him.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: No, it's not going to help him.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: And nobody's going to watch it because the NFL games are that night.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: And, you know, people like me have been waiting all like six months for an NFL game.
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: You think we're going to you think we're going to.
- 44:39SPEAKER_00: You think we're going to not watch the game so
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: that we can watch Donald Trump have people licking his asshole on TV?
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: No.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: Why is it in my head now?
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: And Republicans don't even want to go because the starting rate for a ticket is $25,000.
- 45:01SPEAKER_02: I love that he's making them pay.
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: And he's making them pay for it if they want to attend.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: And that's the starting rate.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: I think it goes up way more.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: It's just really giving a king and his jesters vibe, to be honest.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: I was shocked when I heard about it.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: It's just another huge grift.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: How to make me more money.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: That's exactly it.
- 45:25SPEAKER_00: His sons are probably sponsoring it.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: Or their drone companies.
- 45:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, their drone companies.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: They're like, hey, donate $25,000 to this drone company.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: Now, speaking of Ken Paxton,
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: Texas Republicans are panicking as they watch James Tallarico use Paxton as
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: a punching bag.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: It's not going well at all.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Paxton is not raising much money.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: He's not...
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: Not airing any commercials.
- 45:57SPEAKER_02: Tellurico's all over the place and he's ahead in the polls.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: So desperate to steal a Senate seat,
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: the Texas GOP has suspended 1.2 million voters from the voting rolls with less
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: than 70 days before the election.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: That's crazy.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: 6% of the entire Texas electorate.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: They can still vote,
- 46:16SPEAKER_02: but they'll have to fill out forms because they don't know
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: that they've been suspended because they didn't bother telling anyone.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: They just did it.
- 46:23SPEAKER_02: So...
- 46:24SPEAKER_02: When Paxton loses,
- 46:26SPEAKER_02: which he's going to,
- 46:27SPEAKER_02: I guarantee the Texas GOP is just going to try to throw out their votes
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: because why not?
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: Why have a fair election?
- 46:35SPEAKER_02: Now, on top of all that, the cheating cowards in the Lone Star State are planning to close.
- 46:39SPEAKER_02: They close 92 polling sites in Tarrant County,
- 46:43SPEAKER_02: which, surprise, is heavily populated and very blue.
- 46:47SPEAKER_02: That's almost one third of the sites.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: There's like 310 sites or something like that.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: They're closing 92 of them.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: And that's their plan anyway.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: I'm sure they're going to get sued and I'm sure the Supreme Court's going to say,
- 47:00SPEAKER_02: well, of course they can do that.
- 47:01SPEAKER_02: Why wouldn't they?
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: There's two million plus residents in this county,
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: and they're going to close about a third of the fucking polling sites.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: And again, less than 70 days before the election.
- 47:11SPEAKER_02: This is exactly the sort of thing the Voting Rights Act prevented and exactly why
- 47:16SPEAKER_02: the most corrupt justices in American history.
- 47:18SPEAKER_02: I have to imagine that if Tallarico still wins with a large enough majority,
- 47:23SPEAKER_02: Texas Republicans are simply going to declare the results null and void and demand
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: the Supreme Court install Paxton as Senator because it hurt their feelings
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: that they lost.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: They cannot allow Tallarico to win.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: They have to do everything possible to stop that.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: You will never see a Republican in the White House again because they cannot lose
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: that state and still win the White House.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: They just can't.
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: It's too many electoral votes.
- 47:59SPEAKER_02: What we're seeing here right now is not a ruthless and clever party of fascists.
- 48:04SPEAKER_02: This is blind panic and desperation.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: And I would remind everybody that I know everybody thinks we're crazy thinking
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: that we could flip Texas,
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: but we got really,
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: really close last time when Ted Cruz was running against whatever his name is.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: I can't remember his name right now.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: Shit.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: The guy who traveled in the van around Texas.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: God damn it.
- 48:25SPEAKER_02: Oh my God, why'd I don't?
- 48:26SPEAKER_02: It was just on the tip of my tongue too.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like right there for me, but I can't remember his name.
- 48:31SPEAKER_00: But we got really close, like within a couple of points.
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: And they were panicking about it.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: That wasn't even a wave election.
- 48:37SPEAKER_02: And they were panicking about that.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: Losing their fucking minds.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: And Paxton is arguably worse than Ted Cruz.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: Beto O'Rourke.
- 48:44SPEAKER_00: Beto O'Rourke.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: We had a brain fart.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: We have the names of so many politicians in our head.
- 48:51SPEAKER_00: Sometimes they just slip out.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: We could give you a whole history lesson about Steve King.
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: And that guy's been gone for years.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: So moving on,
- 49:02SPEAKER_00: moving on to,
- 49:03SPEAKER_00: oh, please, please, please, please, please, please let this be true and happen.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: According to NBC News,
- 49:10SPEAKER_00: Defense Secretary Testosterone and his wife have both been floating the possibility
- 49:16SPEAKER_00: of a 2028 presidential run.
- 49:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, my God.
- 49:21SPEAKER_00: Please let it happen.
- 49:22SPEAKER_00: One Republican operative told reporters, quote, Hank Seth is good for men.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: For base voters, he encapsulates the masculinity that Trump captured in 2024.
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: Their idea of masculinity is so fucking funny.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: It's all performative.
- 49:46SPEAKER_02: They don't actually understand what it means to be masculine.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 49:51SPEAKER_00: All performative masculinity, just like their performative patriotism.
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: There's nobody I'd love to see more run for president than Pete Hegseth.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: The Pentagon denied the reporting,
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: calling it foolish,
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: and Hegseth said it was 100% false,
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: which, as we mentioned earlier, means that it's absolutely true.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: So I'm just going to go and get my popcorn ready, because I am loving this.
- 50:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and we mentioned this earlier.
- 50:20SPEAKER_02: We would love nothing more than to see Pete Hegseth on the stage
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: with Greg Bovino screaming at each other about who's more manly and who has
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: a higher testosterone level.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: Oh my God, it would just be amazing.
- 50:30SPEAKER_00: The only way that we'll be able to settle that is if we put some pull-up bars there
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: and see which one can hold up their body weight.
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: Put them in a cage match.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: Let them fight it out.
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: That would be awesome.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: God, I hope it happens.
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: I hope it happens.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: Secretary Whale Juice appeared at a town hall on Fox News over the weekend
- 50:48SPEAKER_02: and blamed the press and demagogue politicians for scaring the public about measles
- 50:53SPEAKER_02: in order to take away attention from chronic diseases that are being caused
- 50:57SPEAKER_02: by big farmer and big food companies.
- 50:59SPEAKER_02: Blah, blah, blah.
- 51:00SPEAKER_02: Kennedy also claimed that if someone died from measles, it's their doctor's fault, not his.
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: Definitely not his for telling people not to get vaccinated.
- 51:10SPEAKER_02: Quote, there's no reason that anybody in America should be dying of measles in this day and age.
- 51:15SPEAKER_02: There's no reason.
- 51:16SPEAKER_02: It's malpractice if that happens.
- 51:18SPEAKER_02: Fuck you.
- 51:19SPEAKER_02: That might be true if we all had access to the unlimited health care
- 51:22SPEAKER_02: that Secretary Raccoon Penis has.
- 51:25SPEAKER_02: But we don't.
- 51:27SPEAKER_02: Most of us can't disappear from our jobs for three months like Mitch McConnell
- 51:30SPEAKER_02: and still collect our salary and have our fucking health care still.
- 51:34SPEAKER_02: None of us get experimental weight drugs,
- 51:36SPEAKER_02: weight loss drugs like Donald Trump, who's still putting on weight anyway.
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: And millions of people have little to no health care thanks to Republicans.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: So fuck off, Kennedy.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: You're a mass murderer.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: The Guardian has reported that doctors in blue states
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: without strict abortion laws are seeing women later in their pregnancies
- 51:57SPEAKER_00: and those women are sicker as they seek care.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: Later abortions means more money, like sometimes thousands of dollars, because guess what, guys?
- 52:07SPEAKER_00: Late-term abortions are very, very, very expensive.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: If a pregnancy is making a woman sick,
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: Obviously, the longer she stays pregnant, the riskier it is to her health.
- 52:16SPEAKER_00: It would have been like if they were just like,
- 52:17SPEAKER_00: hey, go ahead and keep staying pregnant, Florida woman.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: Nothing's going to happen to you and your baby,
- 52:23SPEAKER_00: even though you have a blood pressure of 225 over 117.
- 52:29SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: It's no problem.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: Don't worry.
- 52:31SPEAKER_00: No, it's not going to risk your health anymore.
- 52:34SPEAKER_00: So in Maryland, there's no gestational limit for abortions.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: In other words, they offer late-term abortions.
- 52:41SPEAKER_00: They don't stop them at 20 weeks.
- 52:44SPEAKER_00: And because so many people are going there,
- 52:45SPEAKER_00: it's harder to get an appointment in Maryland,
- 52:47SPEAKER_00: so they have to wait even longer, and it's just a hot fucking mess.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Which, of course, was the point.
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: Exactly the point, because they want women to die.
- 53:17SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: It's not just abortion that restricts women from delaying their prenatal care, either.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: Trump's cuts to healthcare have caused 3 to 5 million women's
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: So even women who've decided that they want to keep their pregnancies are having
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: Difficulty getting prenatal care.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: And as we've mentioned before, clinics are closing around the country.
- 53:49SPEAKER_00: Hospitals are closing around the country.
- 53:51SPEAKER_00: There's entire towns that don't have OBGYNs.
- 53:54SPEAKER_00: So what's happening to women in rural America who don't have access
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: to transportation to get to another town to have a checkup?
- 54:02SPEAKER_00: What do you think?
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: What do you think is happening?
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: All sorts of bad things.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: All sorts of bad things.
- 54:07SPEAKER_02: This is third world country shit.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: We're going to see more dead women,
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: more dead babies,
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: more babies with birth defects that could have been caught,
- 54:17SPEAKER_00: more women going bankrupt to pay for abortions, doctors.
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: There's not enough doctors.
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: At one point when Dr.
- 54:24SPEAKER_00: Tiller was murdered about 20 years ago,
- 54:27SPEAKER_00: There was only like five late-term abortion doctors in the entire United States.
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: This is not like a profession that a lot of people get into because their lives are in danger.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: So it's really causing stress on the system.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: Again, the point.
- 54:41SPEAKER_00: The point.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: It's really what the GOP wanted, so fuck them all.
- 54:46SPEAKER_02: No one hates children and women more than a pro-life Republican.
- 54:51SPEAKER_02: No one hates pregnant women and children more than a pro-life Republican.
- 54:55SPEAKER_02: They're not happy unless they read about one dead woman at least twice a day.
- 55:02SPEAKER_02: It's just what they live for.
- 55:04SPEAKER_02: They're just fucking monsters.
- 55:06SPEAKER_02: All right, let us wrap up some headlines with some much-needed good news.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: Ugh.
- 55:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, my God.
- 55:11SPEAKER_02: Did he really?
- 55:12SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 55:12SPEAKER_02: He's just, I mean...
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: He's got a $400 million in his super PAC, and he's not sending money to struggling Republicans.
- 55:47SPEAKER_02: He's told them to take out ads about how wonderful he is and about all of his accomplishments.
- 55:55SPEAKER_02: And it's amazing.
- 55:57SPEAKER_02: I'm so fucking thrilled about this.
- 56:00SPEAKER_02: Republicans are not happy about it.
- 56:02SPEAKER_02: They don't want him to do this.
- 56:03SPEAKER_02: They want him to kind of stay quiet and in the background,
- 56:07SPEAKER_02: but they're going to have to go out there and kiss him.
- 56:10SPEAKER_02: And if he says,
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: I'm the message,
- 56:18SPEAKER_02: he's literally said,
- 56:19SPEAKER_02: put me on the ballot,
- 56:20SPEAKER_02: make the midterms about him,
- 56:23SPEAKER_02: which is weird because he's also saying that if Republicans lose,
- 56:28SPEAKER_02: it's not his fault, it's their fault.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: So, okay.
- 56:34SPEAKER_02: And this really is the single greatest gift to Democrats imaginable.
- 56:40SPEAKER_02: Like, for months,
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: for months, consultants have been like, you can't make the midterms about Trump.
- 56:46SPEAKER_02: You have to beef So he's giving us everything that we need to crush the Republican Party.
- 57:02SPEAKER_02: Whatever instincts Trump had to manipulate the narrative, they are long gone.
- 57:09SPEAKER_02: He doesn't understand anything about his base anymore.
- 57:17SPEAKER_02: He's talking about how affordability is stupid and bullshit.
- 57:20SPEAKER_02: All he talks about is his fucking ballroom and how he wants to build more monuments to himself.
- 57:24SPEAKER_02: He doesn't care about the price of gas.
- 57:27SPEAKER_02: He has J.D.
- 57:27SPEAKER_02: Vance going out to say, it's fine, just pay more.
- 57:31SPEAKER_02: He's still going He just doesn't understand anything anymore except him, me, me, me,
- 57:36SPEAKER_02: me,
- 57:36SPEAKER_02: me, me, me, and it's going to be a fucking disaster and it's going to be amazing.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: So good job.
- 57:41SPEAKER_02: Go for it.
- 57:57SPEAKER_00: Well, speaking of the midterms,
- 57:59SPEAKER_00: the weakest candidate,
- 58:01SPEAKER_00: Abdul Al-Sayed in Michigan,
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: is now leading his Republican opponent by four points,
- 58:07SPEAKER_00: and the legacy press just can't seem to gain any traction with their nonstop,
- 58:11SPEAKER_00: he's a Muslim, he's a communist, he's a Muslim communist attacks.
- 58:17SPEAKER_02: They're trying so very fucking hard.
- 58:19SPEAKER_00: Troy Jackson is neck and neck with Susan Collins in Maine,
- 58:22SPEAKER_00: but notice how quiet the press is about that.
- 58:24SPEAKER_00: I haven't actually heard anything about that.
- 58:26SPEAKER_00: I didn't know they were neck and neck because
- 58:27SPEAKER_02: that sucks.
- 58:29SPEAKER_02: Isn't that weird?
- 58:30SPEAKER_02: It's so weird that they're not talking about it.
- 58:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's almost like they don't want to give Jackson any free publicity against
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: the deeply unpopular Collins.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: The rest of the Senate races in Texas,
- 58:41SPEAKER_00: Georgia, Ohio, Alaska, Iowa,
- 58:42SPEAKER_00: North Carolina,
- 58:43SPEAKER_00: and New Hampshire are looking good for us and very bad for Republicans.
- 58:47SPEAKER_00: And that's before Trump even makes the election all about himself
- 58:50SPEAKER_00: and his latest trade war jacks up inflation even more.
- 58:53SPEAKER_00: Poor John Fetterman.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: How will he ever collect his bribe if there's no point in him flipping parties?
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 59:01SPEAKER_00: One has to wonder.
- 59:02SPEAKER_02: Man, I feel terrible for him.
- 59:04SPEAKER_02: Just awful.
- 59:06SPEAKER_02: They were making so much noise about this a couple of weeks ago because before Texas
- 59:12SPEAKER_02: and Iowa came into play, he would have been very useful in flipping parties.
- 59:17SPEAKER_02: If they picked up four seats, he flips parties.
- 59:20SPEAKER_02: Republicans keep control.
- 59:22SPEAKER_02: Now it's like, oh, shit.
- 59:24SPEAKER_02: Now they have different paths to take in the Senate and things are looking worse
- 59:28SPEAKER_02: and worse and worse.
- 59:29SPEAKER_02: We don't hear anyone talking about him flipping parties anymore
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: because it doesn't matter if he flips parties.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: No.
- 59:36SPEAKER_00: Aw, that's just sad.
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: Anyway, moving on to self-care of the week.
- 59:42SPEAKER_00: So my last week has been spent helping my friend, my lifelong friend, move, pack and move.
- 59:49SPEAKER_00: She's moving home to New York,
- 59:51SPEAKER_00: which is sad for me,
- 59:52SPEAKER_00: but I'm just putting it in a box like I do with all of my other sadness.
- 59:56SPEAKER_00: My son called me from college the other day and he said, Mom,
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_00: I really would like if you would start coming up here and we have dinner once
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_00: a week.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_00: Not just going out to eat dinner or whatever, but just having a family dinner.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_00: He really loves me.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_00: So I guess we're going to do that on Friday, hopefully, if my husband can get off of work.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_02: Is he going to cook or is he waiting for you to show up and cook for him?
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_00: Don't be silly.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_00: You know that I'm going to be cooking.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_00: He knows how to cook because I taught him when he was like 13 years old.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: I said, I will never raise a son who doesn't know how to feed himself.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: But, you know, mommy is going to cook for him.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_00: Don't be crazy.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_00: But it'll be nice to get the boys together and they can have fun.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_00: And the other thing is I have been watching so many movies that I don't want to watch.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_00: Helping Jennifer move.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_00: The other day she forced me to watch.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_00: What is that movie that I told you that I was watching?
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_00: The Fifth Element?
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_00: The Fifth Element.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_00: I hate that movie.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_02: Ah, you suck.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_00: When I was a kid,
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_00: she made me watch that movie so many times because she's like 12 years older than me
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: and kind of helped my mom when I was younger because I was an asshole.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_00: So I would go over to her house for sometimes like a week at a time and there was no cable.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: So she would be putting on these movies, The Fifth Element.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_00: I told her the other day, I said,
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_00: I hope this is the last time I ever have to watch this movie in my entire life.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_02: So when you come up to visit, that's what I should put on?
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: Oh my God, I hate it so much.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is about the movie.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_00: I think it was just honestly that one,
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_00: Back to the Future,
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_00: because my dad always had us watching Back to the Future when we were growing up.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_00: He loved Back to the Future.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_00: And I liked the first one, but I don't really like the second and the third.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_00: I did watch a really funny movie, though, A Million Ways to Die in the West.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_00: I was laughing my ass off.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: I saw it once, and I remember being really funny.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_02: I never got around to watching it again.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, you should watch it again.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_00: I was laughing my ass off.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, anything Seth, anything Seth and Parlin does is hilarious.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, so funny.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_00: And they're such a good cast.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, Ryan Reynolds was in it.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_00: Although, you know, his star has dimmed a little bit because of other things.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_00: But Ryan Reynolds was in it and he didn't even talk.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_00: It was literally just a guest appearance.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_00: It was really good.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_00: So that's all I've been doing for the last weekend, Moffat.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_02: Well, the four of us,
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_02: me, Mrs. Ogre, Jordan, and Anastasia, drove down to Richmond to see Lila at school.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_02: And I'm like,
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_02: I'm going to write about this for this week,
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_02: but I did not know how much I needed this trip until I saw my little girl,
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_02: the adult college student.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_02: We showed up with a large tin full of chocolate chip cookies Mrs.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_02: Ogre and I made for her and her friends and roommates,
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_02: and they've mostly been devoured and very much enjoyed.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: Nom, nom, nom, nom.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_02: But we also bought some stuff from home that she needed,
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_02: like a heating pad,
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_02: some nail polish she'd left behind,
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_02: and two of her cosplay outfits because Lila,
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_02: the girl who would not join a single club throughout all four years of high school
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_02: and was deathly afraid of Anyone finding out that she was into anime or manga
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_02: or cosplaying at conventions,
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_02: she's joining because she thought she would be bullied and people would make fun
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_02: of her,
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_02: even though anime is like huge and popular and has been for like 30 years
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_02: at this point.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_02: But she just would not allow anyone to know.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_02: She didn't want anyone to know.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_02: She wouldn't even wear an anime t-shirt to school.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_02: She just refused.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_02: But now she's joining a cosplay club on campus with her girlfriend
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_02: and She already has anime posters up on her wall.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_02: And I just I'm so fucking happy about this.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_02: After we dropped all the stuff off,
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_02: we took Lila and June out to lunch and there was much chatting and laughing
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_02: and enjoying yummy food.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_00: We went to a place called First Watch, which is apparently a place called First Watch.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, I know of it.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_02: We haven't been to it before, but apparently it's based out of where you live.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_00: Literally, it's in Sarasota.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: It's so funny because First Watch is hugely popular here.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_00: They're all over the place.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_00: I actually don't go to First Watch a lot because I think it's overpriced, but it is really good.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_02: It wasn't too bad.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_02: It was like diner food and it wasn't terrible price-wise.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_00: It's just that sometimes you go to a First Watch and they suck and your potatoes are gross.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_00: But it's really good.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_00: But my friend Chris, the one who passed away two years ago, he worked at First Watch.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_00: He was like a manager.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_00: And it was so funny because he would come over and this was like right.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_00: I didn't realize it at the time,
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_00: but it was right when schizophrenia was like starting to show its ugly face.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: And he would talk to me about the menu.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_00: And I knew every single detail of the First Watch menu.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, wow, I'll never be able to eat there again because you won't shut up.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_02: But First Watch
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_00: is good.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we enjoyed it.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_02: We enjoyed ourselves.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_02: And then we took them grocery shopping at Aldi and Lidl.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_00: I fucking love Aldi.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they were astonished at how much cheaper everything was compared to Kroger and
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_02: the grocery store,
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_02: it's grocery store,
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_02: grocery street from their dorms, which is explicitly why we took them there.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_02: We wanted to show them how much they could save by shopping smarter because Because,
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_02: we've been shopping at Lidl's and Aldi for years and we get twice as much food
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_02: than we do at a regular grocery store.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_02: So this is important because Lila's been,
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_02: she has a meal plan,
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_02: but she's been cooking a lot of her own food because they don't have
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_02: a really good selection of food for her to get with her meal plan,
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_02: which is annoying.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_02: Told you.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, they said they would.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_02: They promised they would.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_02: And then she actually got into the dining hall and the food that she saw
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_02: while they were doing the thing over the weekend, like when they were...
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_02: The hell, not the introduction.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_02: Was not the food
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_00: there, right?
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_02: I told you.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_00: Do you remember me telling you that?
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: We get you.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_00: That's what we get you.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_02: It's like, well, this is bullshit.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_02: But she's been cooking dinner for her friends twice a week as like a social bonding thing.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_02: And this is just a good way to save money doing it.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_02: And the twice a week dinner thing is a big fucking deal for her.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_02: And I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that she picked up that lesson for me
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_02: because she did not get it from her mother.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_02: She definitely got it from me.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_02: Cooking for people is a great way to build strong relationships.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_02: I've been doing it for them for years.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_02: And just I love cooking for people.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_02: And she loves cooking.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_02: She loves cooking for her friends and they love coming over and they eat together
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_02: and it's a really good time.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_02: And I told her,
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_02: now you know why I was always having you guys come over to have a meal with us
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_02: because it's fun and it's fun to be together and we do stuff.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_02: And she was like, and I feel like I've passed on something really important to her.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_02: Way earlier than I thought I would.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_02: Like, I didn't think that would kick in until she was in her 20s or maybe 30s.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_02: But no, here it is, right?
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_02: She's 18 and she's already figured out.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_02: It's like, oh, shit, no.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_02: Cooking for people and having a meal together, that's like a big deal.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_02: And it was like, yes.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_00: it's crazy, though,
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_00: because if her dad had actually been a good part of her life,
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_00: she would know that because the Egyptian culture having dinner together is
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_00: a really big deal.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_00: But he's not, so.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_00: He sucks.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he does.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_02: Anyway, we bought them the groceries,
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_02: and then we dropped them off at the dorm, said goodbye, and then we came home.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: No tears this time.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_02: And I've been a lot calmer since seeing her, right?
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_02: She's happy.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_02: She's stable.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_02: She's not panicking about class.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_02: She's not getting overwhelmed.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_02: She's building a life, and she's finally not afraid to be herself.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_02: Perfect.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_00: That's what college is supposed to do.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_02: But she's thriving right now.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_02: And I needed to know that my little girl's okay.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_02: And she is.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_02: And I still miss her every day, but she's okay.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_02: That means everything to me.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_02: So that was my self-care of the week.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_00: We love that.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_00: It gets easier.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: She's going to be home this weekend.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_02: She's coming to visit her mom.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_02: I don't know how much we're going to see her because she's coming to visit her mom.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_02: Us necessary.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm sure she's going to stop by and say hi,
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_02: but we just saw her last weekend,
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_02: so she's not going to come and spend time with us because that's not the point
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_02: of her being home.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_02: But she wants to see her mom and she wants to see her cat.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_00: Her cat is really cute.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_02: Yo, her cat is really cute in pictures.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_02: Her cat is a big white fluffball named Frodo,
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_02: except he doesn't clean himself, so he's actually a grungy, dingy white.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_02: He looks like a used dishrag.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_02: When he gets groomed,
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_02: when he gets cleaned,
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_02: he's gorgeous and fluffy and white,
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_02: and that lasts about two weeks, and then he's back to being dingy.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_02: It's like, goddammit, cat.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_01: He's literally the definition of grungy.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_02: That's funny.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: But what are you going to do?
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_02: All right.
